← ONCE UPON A TIME WAS A LONG TIME AGO →
Somebody has to be the bad guy. That’s how it works, isn’t it? Every fairytale needs its dark cloud that can be overcome so that the light can shine through on happily ever after. Good guys win, bad guys lose. That’s just how it goes. But, what if it didn’t? What if someone was able to shake things up and make a mark? Granted, it wouldn’t be easy. That, however, doesn’t make it impossible. It takes a special kind of person, and while Miranda Faye was never told she was special, she was certainly told she was different.
The Faye girls were infamous in Walt’s Landing — and mostly for good reasons. Their father was exceptionally proud of his daughters and the power that they possessed. Miranda, the oldest, was undoubtedly the strongest of the bunch. From the beginning, their father was hardest on her. He saw potential in her and was determined to nurture it. What he really did was begin to sow seeds of resentment between Miranda and her other siblings. This was especially true between her and the second eldest, Leah. Leah had no magic at all but was still highly favored by their father. Miranda grew up perpetually working to be loved while straining to reach unattainable standards.
When Miranda was fifteen years old, her father dropped a bombshell. Her sisters were actually her half sisters. He had, at one point, had an affair with a powerful dark caster that had resulted in Miranda. His wife had reluctantly accepted the baby as her own and carried the secret with her until she died when the dark caster refused to have anything to do with the baby. When Miranda went in search of her biological mother, she found that the dark caster had been detained by the Castorea, also know as the coven of four casters who acted as the leaders of all casters in Walt’s Landing. When she pushed for more information, Miranda met dead ends. Your mother was wicked, they told her. You better pray you’re nothing like her. Miranda did worry she was like her, however. Her call to dark magic grew stronger and stronger, and over time she lashed out more and more at her sisters. It reached a point where she was caught trying to curse Leah in a fit of jealousy. Although it saddened him, their father cast Miranda out as she was becoming a danger to all. In her anger she renounced her family.
Out on her own, Miranda threw herself into learning as much about dark magic as she could. An incredibly fast study, it didn’t take long for her power to grow exponentially. Once she started, it seemed impossible for Miranda to stop. Over time, she convinced herself that no one loved her or ever would; the best way she could protect herself would be to become untouchable. For years, it seemed like no one heard from Miranda. Her family waited for the moment she would reappear, but as time went by they grew more and more complacent. When Miranda did reemerge, it was to make a scene.
Everyone expected her to strike at the christening of Leah’s first born daughter; she and her husband had struggled with fertility but had finally been able to conceive a child. Knowing too much magic would be present at the party, Miranda laid low until the night after. Under the cloak of darkness she crept into the infant’s room and cursed the baby Aurora. It was impossible to prove Miranda had been behind it; while the family was able to tell that the infant was cursed, they couldn’t figure out what exactly the curse was. The magic was just too complicated. Leah’s daughter soon vanished from the public eye and Miranda — forever skilled with the long game —was content to wait out the effects. Besides, she had bigger fish to fry than literal babies.
In retrospect, few saw Miranda’s rise to power coming. It was too quick and seamless. Instead of some big coup to overthrow reigning Mayor Michael Mouser, Miranda threw her hat in the ring and began a campaign. There were rumors of dark dealings but nothing that could be proved. Discriminating against dark casters has always been forbidden in Walt's Landing, so while some had concerns there was little they could do. It was around this time that one of the Castorea died. This in itself was unusual. The Castorea often had extended lifespans due to the magic they channeled, and when they felt that magic waning they knew it was time to pick a replacement. In this instance, however, there was no time for that. Their successor had to be chosen quickly to right the balance, and Miranda in her all her power was the ideal candidate.
With her position on the Castorea secured, Miranda continued her mayoral campaign. She wasn't known for being overly warm or friendly, but people saw her quiet strength and soon fell in line. The race continued neck in neck with Michael slightly in the lead until the day Mayor Mouser vanished. When his wife, Minerva, woke up to an empty bed she assumed her incumbent husband was getting an early start to his day. When he never came home and his secretary never heard from him, she sounded the alarms. The Walt's Landing police department looked into the disappearance immediately but not a trace of the missing man could be found. Mayor Mouser was a human capable of leaving the town border, but no one thought he would abandon his wife of the town he loved. Still, the day of the election came and went. Although Michael was slated to win, Minvera pulled his name from the running and Miranda took the title.
Now the mayor of Walt's Landing and a member of the Castorea, Miranda found herself to be the most powerful woman in Walt's Landing and nothing could happen without her saying so. In the year since she's risen to power, Miranda's become known as a calculating leader who plays by her own rules. She'll help out a soul in need if it benefits her, but there's always a cost. Being on her good side is a very good place to be. When another spot on the Castorea mysteriously opened, Miranda successfully nominated her good friend Rebecca Tremaine to the position. It took a lot for Miranda to find her way to the top, but now that's she there she never plans on coming down. Family is far from her mind; when news came that her father died, Miranda abstained from attending the funeral but sent flowers in her stead.
That's the thing about Miranda: she's wicked. Everyone knows it, but no one can prove the wicked things she does. The true blackness of her heart would come as a shock to most. Miranda doesn't care, however. She's long since come to terms with the fact that she's not on this planet to be liked. She exists for power and control. The more she gets, the more she craves. No one knows just how far Miranda will go or what she's capable of. At the end of the day, Walt's Landing belongs to Miranda Faye. If she has her way, nothing will ever change that.
← & THEY ALL LIVED HAPPILY NEVER AFTER →
✴ MICHAEL MOUSER seemed to have vanished off the face of the planet, and no one knows where he is. No one but Miranda, that is. She took care of Michael because he was in her way, and he's not the first who has needed to be disposed of. Is poor former Mayor Mouser dead? No, not yet. No one knows what Miranda has done to him other than Miranda herself and Vidal, and she doesn't plan on freeing him anytime soon. Sure, she's in power now. That doesn't mean he couldn't run for reelection in the future. As it stands, Michael is exactly where Miranda wants him. Some may think she had something to do with his disappearance but no one has been bold enough to accuse her of foul play. It's Walt Landing — people have a nasty way of going missing routinely. Michael may have been a good man, but he's just a human. He never stood a chance against Miranda.
✴ VIDAL DAVIES had nothing when he met Miranda. He was at the end of his rope and all alone in the world. Miranda saw his pain and sadness and used it to her advantage. Vidal thought he was getting assistance from the caster, but what he really got was a curse. Now bound to Miranda, Vidal finds himself able to shift from a human to a raven at will. He's Miranda's eyes and ears when she can't be present and his loyalty lays with her alone. Would he like to be free from under her thumb? Yes, but that doesn't seem likely to happen. People don't get to just walk away from Miranda Faye.
✴ AURORA SPELLMAN did nothing wrong other than be born. Out of all her sisters, Miranda always had the least amount of patience for Leah. The fact that her seemingly perfect half-sister got a happily ever after was infuriating. Miranda wasn't interested in that family nonsense; she just didn't like the idea of Leah being happy while she knew she never would be. Punishing Aurora may seem cruel, but it's been seventeen long years since the curse was cast. As Aurora comes closer to reaching the deadly end, Miranda is the only person who can reveal how to save her life. It's too bad she has no interest in spilling the beans about true loves kiss.
✴ GRETA QUEEN & REBECCA TREMAINE are the closest things that Miranda has to friends outside of Vidal, but they know who's in charge. When another spot on the Castorea opened, it was obvious it would go to one of them. Rebecca was thrilled, Greta was disappointed. Miranda had reasons behind her choice, of course. Greta is powerful but too vain. It makes her weak. Rebecca — with her silly weak little daughters — has something to prove. She's rigid but ruthless and Miranda can appreciate that as long as she stays in line. They know how wicked Miranda truly is, but they like the perks that come from being in her inner circle. For now, they're loyal.
← CASTERS & WEREWOLVES & VAMPS! OH MY! →
✴ THE CASTOREA may be composed of four casters, but Miranda feels that she's the one holding the cards. Genevieve Blue is the longest established member and has always been highly skeptical of Miranda. There's little they can do now, however. Miranda has her claws in the Castorea and the one balanced coven is now slanted towards darkness. All castors look to the Castorea for guidance and instruction. Miranda can't fully let loose, but she can do her best to make sure things go her way.

“…”
At first there’s a completely blank look as Rose stood, almost frozen in time. She’s holding a glass of water and has been on her way back to her seat but got taken by a sudden vision.
“…”
The only thing one can discern was wrong was that the glass suddenly slipped from her grasp and shattered on the ground. Rose was unphased until a Look of horror crossed her features.
When she managed a breath after the vision ended, she just screamed.

Hello! Anyone want to do some Disney/fairytale related plots? I’m 18f looking for a partner! When it comes to romance I write mxf, but romance is absolutely not required! Familial, friendly, antagonistic, and all other dynamics are welcome! I also write on discord and prefer to write canon characters across from canon characters in most instances. I’ve got plenty of ideas in mind, from a ‘darker neverland’ in Peter Pan, to continuing the epilogue from any tale, and more! Just let me know if you'd want something grim, something lighthearted, or something in between!
I’ll list the characters I play below. Feel free to like this and I’ll message you!
(Tangled) Rapunzel
(Frozen) Anna
(Peter Pan) Wendy
(Anastasia) Anastasia
(Sleeping Beauty) Aurora
