Malavai had been wandering their home aimlessly for hours. The clicking of his shoes echoed and their 2V-R8 unit watched him pace. He went downstairs, to the landing pad, back up, to the bedroom to see his child still sleeping soundly, then start over. If it were possible he was sure there would be a sizable groove in the floor marking his pattern, worn away by his walking.

"Master Quinn, might I suggest you wait in your office for the lady to get home?" The droid spoke up at last. This briefly stopped the officer and he looked at 2V with worried brows and a frown. "She has been gone for far longer than I calculated. Her and that apprentice of hers should have been able to clear that location within three hours!" Malavai argued. "With the hyperspace travel time they should have arrived back here exactly five hours and twenty-seven minutes ago!" With that said, the pacing continued.

He normally didn't worry this much. Mavasha was the strongest sith he knew. She was the emperor's wrath. But she was also carrying their second child. She shouldn't have even gone out with Hisk'ash and Vette to do that job.

The man's frustrated thoughts came to an end when he heard the front door slide open and the sound of Vettes excited yammering filling the house.

"-and then you struck that guy down! You two are amazing!" She finished her story as Malavai met them at the entryway. The twi'leks mood turned slightly more sour upon seeing the officer, but she feigned a smile anyway. "Oh, hey Quinn. Where's my godbaby?"

"She's down for her nap in her room" he frowned, then he watched as she got on her toes to give the Cathar apprentice beside her a kiss and run off to see young Yavasa.

"Darling, you should have seen how well Hisk'ash did today." Mavasha boasted excitedly. The tall male blushed under his dark fur.

"You give me too much credit, Master." He replied with a slight bow of his head.

"Oh hush. You know I only give credit where it's due. Now off with you, go clean up while I see to my husband." The woman waved her hand dismissively. The cathar fully bowed in respect, then left to do as she said. "Now, you look frazzled, my love. Whats the matter?"

Malavai was beside himself. How was it not obvious? "What's the matter?- Mavasha, I have been worried sick! Not a single call and you were gone-" he looked at the time quickly before continuing his rant, "five ours and thirty-two minute longer than expected-"

His wife raised a brow at him. "I dont recall you being this... let's say worried... before" she replied.

The officer's blue eyes shifted and he let out a heavy sigh of irritation. He knew what she was thinking. "I am not being possessive, nor am I meaning to control you, my lord... but" another sigh, this time more deflated than heated. "You announced your pregnancy with our next child nearing a month ago. You should be home, out of danger. We cannot risk this. Early as it may be you are bound to start losing energy... and it's taken so long for us to produce just one child much less two... I don't want to risk anything..." his balled fists relaxed as his frustration dissolved back into worry. "And if you have a bout of exhaustion from the pregnancy... as capable as Lord Hisk'ash may be, I don't trust him to hold his own against your enemies. I don't want to lose you either."

Mavasha watched her husband release all of his feelings with a rising sensation of guilt, a rare feeling for her. It wasn't often when Malavai admitted his feelings or his wife's mortality. He had been through enough with her to know she usually beat impossible odds, so his worries were typically unfounded, but this time she really hadn't been thinking. She gently reached out and caressed Malavai's jaw.

"My sweet, passionate husband..." she began and lifted his chin with a tender touch so his eyes looked into hers. "I apologize for worrying you.. We got caught up with a request made by a fellow sith while we were planetside. I should have called you."

"Or at least have taken me instead of the twi'lek. She could have watched Yavasa for a few hours." Malavai added. "I just don't want something to happen to you and our unborn child without me there to at least try and protect you. I can calculate the odds, be prepared for fatigue, make sure you're getting what you need. I know this is your duty as not only a sith, but the Emperor's Wrath. So I cannot, and will not, stop you from doing it, but I can at least help you be safe."

The torguta nodded. "You're absolutely right, my heart. Next time I am needed I will bring you, that's a promise." She assured him and leaned down to press their foreheads together. "Now, what can I do to make up for the stress and panic I've caused you?"

He was silent, though she could sense his emotions in the force. Waves of anxiety, relief, frustration, and concern crashing into each other. Instead of answering her right away, he slid his arms around her and pulled her close. "I'm just thankful my family is safe another day." Came his response at last.

Mavasha smiled softly and smoothed his hair. "And we will be for many days more. I swear that to you." She mumbled. "I love you Malavai. And next time I agree to something that would be dangerous to myself and our baby, you have permission to speak, Captain."

A small scoff of a chuckle came from the shorter male and he looked up at her. "Even if I didn't have permission, I think I would tell you anyway. Not as your Captain, but as your husband." He claimed. "But... Thank you, my love, for hearing me out. Even if I didn't give you much of a choice."

"You know I value your wisdom, Malavai, no matter the subject." Mavasha purred before meeting him for a soft kiss.

He couldn't help the smile her statement caused. She always knew how to calm his nerves and ease his worries. Once they parted the two followed his pacing pattern to check on their daughter with Mavasha's arm linked to his own. Safe and sound.

1. Why did you choose your url?

Cinlat was the name of a character that I created back in highschool, a side character with no real weight to the plot. After multiple attempts at clever names while joining swtor, I got annoyed and tossed her name in and it was accepted. Afterward, I used it for everything else because it’s always available. THEN she became a prominent character in my main fic mostly by accident.

2. Any sideblogs?

I have one dedicated solely to reblogging writing tips. It has 7 followers. That’s probably including me. Then I also run Reignbow’s blog because she still too young for social media, but her art is too good not to share. So if interested, you can find her @reignbow

3. How long have you been on tumblr?

*goes to ask @dimigex* She says 2016, so we’ll go with that since it’s her fault that I’m here.

4. Why did you originally start your blog?

Because Dimi dragged me here, kicking and screaming. But legit, she suggested that I share my writing projects with people other than just her, and that’s how Fynta blasted her way into the hearts of all of you fine people.

5. Why did you choose your icon?

Those boys are the two most important people in Fynta’s life, and I think @dingoat did an amazing job capturing each of their personalities. It’s such a pure and wholesome representation of my favorite people.

6. Why did you choose your header?

It’s funny that this question comes right after I changed it from the group portrait of Fynta and her family. I’ve been back into ffxiv for a while now, and while Isashi has been my main since 2015, I had to make a final fantasy version of Fynta because, well, it’s Fynta. Naturally, Fynta started adopting people the moment she set foot in Eorzea. She decided that Isashi needed to lighten up, which dragged Kirin into the group, and Lukos is mostly there unwillingly but has no where else to go. Thus, they are now The Gang, because Final Fynta said so. Anyway, I spend about two hours putting that shot together and it turned out too good not to share.

7. What is your post with the most notes?

I genuinely have no idea how to find this information. Feel free to teach me in the replies.

8. How many mutuals do you have?

This questionnaire has taken a turn towards math and I’m not sure how I feel about that.

9. How many followers do you have?

Not intentionally.

Given that this is basically the only social media site that I visit....a lot....I’m not even sorry.

I am not great about reblogging, ngl. If it’s a close friend/mutual I’m more likely to. Or if it’s something I think my mutuals will find as amusing as I do. Otherwise I mostly just yell about my ocs/gaming/writing with my friends and then yell about theirs too. I very rarely, if ever, reblog political/religious stuff simply because that’s just not what I’m on this site for specifically.

15. Do you like tag games?

I definitely do, though I’m terrible about getting them done in a timely manner. But, thankfully, people keep tagging me. Thanks all!

16. Do you like ask games?

I definitely enjoy those too, with the same results as above.

17. Which of your mutuals do you think are tumblr famous?

That’s really tough, actually. I follow so many talented authors and artists. I’ve got to agree with @starknstarwars about @sleepswithvillains being one of them. Also @riajade01 thievinghippo, moonlitalien, thegarbagechute and @dingoat is starting to climb those ranks too. Just off the top of my head. (I’m not going to tag them all because I don’t actively talk with several and have no idea how they feel about random tagging, but you should absolutely check out their blogs.)

Nah, I’m too old for crushes. XD. I’ve made some genuine friendships though.

1. Why did you choose your url?

I wanted to make a Star Wars blog and I also wanted to show that I was a big fan of the old pre-mouse EU. So I took my favorite EU character, Tahiri Veila, and played around with her experiences to make my url. During the New Jedi Order book series, Tahiri was experimented on by Yuuzhan Vong and an artificial personality, Riina of Domain Kwaad, was created in her mind. I simply replaced the name Riina with my own internet handle Raven and got Raven of Domain Kwaad.

2. Any sideblogs?

This is technically a sideblog actually.

Main is @the-raven-of-highever which is mainly Dragon Age stuff

I also have @ssv-raven which is a mess of Mass Effect, sci-fi, fantasy and other assorted nonsense

3. How long have you been on tumblr?

I think it was 2014 when I first got onto tumblr

4. Why did you originally start your blog?

Originally I made my main for the Assassin’s Creed fandom. Oh boy was I obsessed with AC. Fell hard in love with the Kenway family and Ratonhnhaké:ton / Connor in particular. I was sad when the tumblr fandom just sort of fizzled away and died after being such a fun and big group that I really liked.

5. Why did you choose your icon?

@palepinkycat gave me that incredible piece of my OC Amarra Kine for my birthday and I was immediately head over heels in love with how it looked. I just had to make it my icon so I could always admire it.

6. Why did you choose your header?

That was another @palepinkycat piece actually and my very first commission. It is of my OC sisters Ryscha and Amarra Kine. They are the main focus of my SWTOR canon so I figured it was appropriate to put them up there as my header.

7. What is your post with the most notes?

This one which I made as a joke after the Echoes of Oblivion trailer came out. Just a silly bit about how Knights and Warriors must be very sick of the Emperor by that point.

8. How many mutuals do you have?

Not a clue. I know I have a number of SWTOR mutuals though

115... now excuse me as I go and listen to the song of the same name from CoD Black Ops Zombies lol

200 but a lot of those haven’t posted in years. Lots of old Assassin’s Creed, Overwatch and trans fem blogs that got lost or just stopped posting after the various fandoms died and the porn ban cracked down on people.

Uh... lots. Though in my defense it is my only form of social media. Never had a facebook, twitter or anything else and it is probably going to stay that way.

Nope. Is that a thing people do? It sounds exhausting.

You know how after watching commercials you are filled with the desire to actively avoid the product being advertised? Yeah that is generally what happens to me with those “need to reblog” things. Like buddy I have come to tumblr to unplug from all the atrocities that are happening in the world. You telling me I need to focus on this makes me want to actively ignore it.

15. Do you like tag games?

I do! They are fun and I enjoy reading the answers that other people give.

16. Do you like ask games?

Definitely. I don’t always answer the asks in a timely manner but I do love writing about my OCs

17. Which of your mutuals do you think are tumblr famous?

Not a clue. Got some mutuals that seem to be well established and appreciated members of the SWTOR fandom but no one appears to be tumblr famous.

18. Do you have a crush on a mutual?

Funny story. My partner and I actually met because we were tumblr mutuals. We were both in the Mass Effect fandom and just started DMing each other about our OCs. Started playing Mass Effect 3 online matches together and eventually decided to try out a long distant relationship. It worked and we’ve been living together for five ish years now.

Don’t currently have any crushes on any mutuals but my partner and I are poly so who knows what may happen in the future lol

it was originally bluejay. and then i started playing swtor and obviously bluejay was taken so i keysmashed and ended up w bluezeri. i liked it better than bluejay so i just started using it for everything.

uhhhhh a long time. cant remember actually. especially since im pretty sure half that time was just looking at screenshots and posts without an account.

honestly im kinda surprised i started posting on here bc im usually one of those blogs that just lieks stuff and never posts, but i have like one friend and needed someone to ramble to, and i figured tumblr would be a good place bc im familiar with it and i hate every other social media thing.

its just a little doodle of shirei i did that i rlly like how it turned out. not rlly any other reason ig

Random Fact: For Mechthild von Magdeburg (13th century nun) and several of her contemporaries (male and female), the “ideal” human state (the way we were in Paradise, the way we were meant to be) is sexless & genderless in total equality. Basically sex & gender (and its subsequent oppressions) were never supposed to exist according to some medieval religious thinkers, they only happened because of original sin as part of humanity’s punishment. I think this is amazing and more ppl should know about it.

In no particular order:

Scars

This one I actually liked enough to make my avatar - it’ll probably eventually get replaced, but for now I still really like it. The lighting came out well, I got practice with back muscles and butts which are both things I’m bad at, I still really like her expression, and I got to learn a new technique for doing scars. 

Leave It Up To Me

And this one ended up as my blog header. I’m sensing a theme here. I’m super proud of this art; I’m terrible at backgrounds and I don’t usually bother with them, so doing a background-focused piece was a real challenge for me. And then I did it mostly lineless, for some reason, because I thought trying to do all the details in linework would kill me. I’m not sure if that choice made it easier or harder, but it sure did turn out well considering. And then the rim lighting/backlighting on Garen turned out super well too, and just... the whole feeling of the piece came through, I think. (And then it got zero notes, because I had no followers when I posted it and there was an external link so it didn’t show up in the tags. Sigh.) Fun fact about this one: usually there’s one overlay layer with a gradient on it to help pull my digital pieces together color-wise, but on this one there’s three - one for the background only, one over Garen only, and one over the whole thing.

Duserra in a suit

I spent too much damn time on this for it not to be on this list. The gold filigree detailing. The texturing on the tailcoat. The vest pattern. The colors I struggled with, and I went through I think five or six different test palettes before I found one I really liked, but I think I pulled it together well. My one regret is that I forgot to give her tie the same texturing as her tailcoat.

Of Blood And Ghosts

A one-shot that ended up almost twice as long as most of my others. Honestly, it might not be my best writing ever, but I’m proud of myself just for finishing it - usually I write/draw something in one or two sittings or I never finish it. This piece took me weeks of work because I kept getting stuck. I’m proud of myself for pushing through and finishing it. ...and then it got almost no attention on AO3, probably because of the awkward length and the sort-of-self-harm content. Sigh. Oh well. I really enjoyed getting to explore what Force rituals might look like (and feel like), as well as looking at the Force from two different characters’ perspectives and getting to throw my poor Zabrak sisters at each other again.

I almost never write music because it’s time-intensive, labor-intensive, and a skill I haven’t spent that much time honing. Making up music isn’t difficult for me. Making it good, and putting it on paper, is difficult. Or tedious, at least, and my dumb ADHD brain doesn’t do well with tedious tasks. But something possessed me to write this, based on one off-handed comment I made about a scene idea for a fic I don’t even talk about here. I spent three days pretty much doing nothing besides writing English lyrics, translating them into Sith, writing the melody, making the Sith lyrics fit the melody, and then finally putting it all together on paper. And I have zero regrets. The result is my pride and joy of the last year of Star Wars content, my crowning achievement thus far in this fandom: a lullaby written by me and then played and sung by me in the Sith language, an absolute bastard of a conlang that’s just filled-out enough to be difficult without being complete enough to not force me to make up probably 90% of the words in that song.

And who knows? Maybe I’ll do it again someday...

Lecebi has a small handmade twi'lek doll her mother made for her when she was young. Its tattered and dirty, and once she began to share a bed with Darmas she felt good enough to sleep without it, but when she misses home or thinks about her family she'll pull it out for a good cuddle.

10: Do they talk in their sleep?

She's usually pretty quiet in her sleep unless she's having a nightmare. When she's stressed she tends to mumble.

Last movie: I watched Finding Ohana on Netflix with the kids. It was so good. It brought back all the fun, kid adventures from 90′s movies

What do I post: Mostly swtor stuff, but there’s some Naruto, FF14, and GW2 scattered within. Not to mention, random things that make me chuckle.

What do I refuse to post: Political crap. This is my safe haven. I can get all that shit elsewhere. I come to Tumblr to relax, so that’s what I plan to post. 

Last thing I googled: A STEMM Academy that my youngest was invited to join (that I didn’t even know existed)

Other blogs: Just an account on Ao3, FFN, and a KoFi. Those probably aren’t blogs though.

Do I get asks: I definitely love asks. I’m a little slow resolving them sometimes, but, I save every one so that I can work on it when time allows.

Why I chose my url: Cinlat was a character from an original world that I created in middle school. She was the little sister of my antagonist, but her name is unique enough to never need numbers added...and I really hate adding numbers to my name.

Following: 304, though I’ve been steadily weeding out dead blogs and people that no longer post the stuff that I’m interested in seeing. Ah, and hate speech. Any sort of hate speech against any religion, race, income level....etc. will get a hard pass from me. For reasons above. I’m here to relax. If I want angry rantings, I’ll talk to my family. lol.

Followers: Ohhh, 436. That’s cool. *waves at everyone*

Average hours of sleep: I have no clue. I’m a light sleeper so I wake often. My Fitbit always yelled at me about it, but then it died and now I can carry on in blissful ignorance.

Instruments: I played the trumpet when I was young. After a year of lessons, I tearfully approached my mom to tell her that I didn’t want to continue and to apologize for wasting their money. Her response? “Thank God.” I don’t think I was very good. XD

What am I wearing: Wicked Win Run t-shirt (best 5K ever, highly suggest) and comfy pants full of holes and bleach stains. In my defense, I’m about to scrub my bathroom, so legit cleaning clothes.

Dream job: I’d like to own my own kennel one day. One of the fancy ones on a few acres of land where the dogs have room for proper exercise. 

Dream trip: I want to go everywhere, but if I had to choose only one place, I want to go back to Kenya.

Favorite food: Carbs. 

Nationality: American (Although I did one of those heritage kits. The results were....boring. I’m 98% English. Like, wtf, how am I the most bland white person in America? The rest is Scottish and like 1.1% sub-Saharan thrown in there for randomness sake.)

Favorite song: Ummm, basically anything from Fynta’s Playlist. There really are too many to label. 

Last book read: I’m reading three, atm. I finished Shaw from the Hell Squad series last night. It’s a sci fi romance by Anna Hackett, honestly not bad writing as far as romance novels go, and plenty of explosions. I approve.

Then I’m about halfway through the Sci Fi series of the Bobiverse, Books 4 Heaven’s River by Dennis E. Taylor. Amazing story telling, highly recommend.

Then there is also what I like to call the “Epic Gay Fantasy” series of A Land Fit for Heroes by Morgan Richard. I’m on the final book, The Dark Defiles. Morgan’s writing is gritty and beautiful all at once. I’m super jealous. haha. 

Then bits of fanfiction on top of that.

Top three fictional universes I’d like to live in:

Bobiverse (I’d totally be down to cruise the galaxy for eternity as a VR program)

I was tagged by @sleepswithvillains . I’ve never been tagged much before so this is kind of new for me, but I love it! Tag me all the time! Also you did it again, where I got the Tumblr notification like right as I went to bed, but my sleep schedule is so wack right now.

I have a lot of unfinished fics and not a lot of published works in comparison.

2. Fandoms: LOTR/The Hobbit, The Witcher (TV), SWTOR/Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, Twilight, Underworld (though I’m not active in most of them unless I’m hyper-fixating)

3. Where you post: AO3, Tumblr, and I have an inactive FF.NET account

4. Most popular oneshot: People seem to have a real affinity for Meleth-nin/My Love. I actually hated writing it, because I was in such a bad place after receiving news that my childhood dog had died, but I don’t hate the fic itself.

5. Most popular multichapter: Every Kitten Has Claws which is a Geralt X Druid Fem!Reader. 25 Kudos, 3 bookmarks, 517 hits. Followed by Turuhalme in the Greenwood which is Thranduil X Fem!Reader. 9 Kudos, 1 bookmark, 270 hits. Both contain 18+ Content.

6. Actual worst part of writing: I legitimately hate writing fight scenes. I’m horrible at them and most of my fics contain some sort of fight scene obnoxiously enough. Although the best advice I ever saw on here was to keep your fight scenes short because not very many people are interested in a long drawn out detailed fight scene. 

7. Favorite story you wrote: Bards & Beans Coffee Co. Elrond X Fem!Reader. Was the first time I’d ever written anything in the second person. I based it off of a dream I had about meeting Elrond in a coffee shop. I planned it, wrote it, and posted it in the span of four days. It’s basically as if Middle Earth exists on the other side of meridian locks, and it’s set during the War of the Ring but with some of the characters from the Hobbit so the timelines are pretty pushed together. Your side of the meridian locks has a Earth that is basically a continuous strip of land that varies from high-tech futuristic ports all the way down to medieval ports. Basically the farther North you go, the more high tech and futuristic the land becomes. Quite a shock for those who would have never been to the other side of the locks. 18+ Content.

8. Story you were nervous to post: Most likely all of them. Any of my Twilight work though, I always hesitate about publishing. Sometimes it’s because the stories are close to my heart, but I also know that the fandom can be rabid. Most of the interactions I’ve ever had with Twilight blogs are fine, but there’s a lot of discourse about Twilight right now, and while I appreciate that most people are in the right (the issue with the Quileute tribe, the Cullen’s as villains, Jasper and the Confederacy, the actual legitimacy of the Volturi as a ruling body, etc), this is actually one of the reasons I left the fandom from a writing/following POV. (There are many, many things that are wrong with Twilight and not from a literature point of view. For example, Meyers took a real life Native American tribe and treated them highly unfairly in the books, to the point of calling them dogs which isn’t very fair at all, and they have received no compensation for being used and they are risk in the place they live in now. If you have some time and money, I would recommend checking out the Quileute Move to Higher Ground project.)

9. How you choose your titles: For story titles, I like to choose the main theme or a main phrase that is used. For chapter titles, I either don’t title or I will chose something that is a main part of the chapter.

10. Complete works: Out of the 21 works I have on AO3, 18 of them are completed, although one is an open ended and may be reopened after I get some of the larger works out of my way. As for fics in general that I haven’t published or have published on other platforms, there is 2 of 5 complete works on FF.NET. Some of those stories I will be pulling and deleting. The two complete works will be migrating to AO3.

11. Incomplete works: Actively: Sadril-nin/My Loyal One, A Hunter’s Circlet, and Beauty in Brokenness (unpublished for now). I have a few other inactive LOTR/The Hobbit based fics that I might try to finish after the main two are finished. Inactive: Literally too many to count. I mean, when I wrote my goodbye to the Twilight fandom, I said that I had been writing for the fandom for nearly nine years. I have so many unfinished Twilight fics, well over 100.

12. Do you outline: Not usually. I’m at the point with Sadril-nin right now where I’m literally following a map of Middle Earth and cataloguing the journey across the map, so I guess that could be considered an outline. Mostly if I’m writing for LOTR/The Hobbit, I want to follow the timeline of progression for the story that’s already been written. I do have a little bit of leeway in that gap between The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings though.

13. Coming soon ideas, maybe? I’ve been giving you a taste of Beauty in Brokenness. I do intend to publish it, but it’s a constant struggle to rework it. I have ideas that I want to cement in the story that don’t always come out the way I want them to, so I am consistently reworking parts of it all the time. I will also be rewriting (eventually) Crown of Thorns, which is Pirates of the Caribbean fanfic, Lord Beckett X Siren!OFC. I also appreciate the idea of Nestadion X Centaur Fem!Reader, but instead of being a centaur all the time, you’re actually a shifter who can turn into a centaur. Really confuses a warrior elf to see what amounts to a small human carrying this massive two handed sword around and calling him “princess” all the time.

14. Ask me anything: Is there anything you miss in fanfic? In comparison to the actual book/movie? Not really. I appreciate the original works, but I recognize that they can be flawed and so can their authors/writers. Which is why fanfic is so appealing-- everyone has a different spin on the original; everyone has a different take on the characters, everyone writes differently, and that’s the fascinating part to me. The only downside, of course with any fanfic, is the fandom and it can be hit or miss with people. It is what it is, and the liberty of fanfic is that not everyone is going to like or enjoy your works, and the same goes for your tastes. Are there right or wrong opinions? I don’t know; I’ve both read and written some morally ambiguous fics, and some I would like to forget that I very much haven’t.

15. Best writing traits: Same as the worst writing traits. I’m a sucker for detail. I love it. I want my readers to see it like I do. When I read books or play D&D or play video games, I see it like I’m in a movie. When I write, I want you to see it like you’re on set and the cameras are rolling and you are perfectly prepared. I want you to feel like you are in the story, which is why my oneshots turn into series, and my multi-chapter fics turn into novel length stories. I find it obnoxious at times, because I feel like I can’t ever turn it off, but by the feedback I get, some of y’all really enjoy it, so let’s get this show on the road.

16. Upcoming Story You Are Most Excited to Write: Uhhhh, let me go browse my WIP folder. I’ve put quite a bit of research into rewriting Crown of Thorns and making it slightly more historically accurate. I know that there will be a Part 2 to Sadril-nin, because I’m not going to time skip a seventy/eighty year gap between the timelines of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. And I really don’t want to submit y’all to this absolutely massive story all jam-packed into one fic. Other than that, I’m also sitting on Through Hellfire and High Waters, which is another Elrond X Reader fic that follows the premise of a modern/medieval world all smashed into one. The Queen of Eryn Galen also needs a proper ending and to be published, a Thranduil X OFC fic; this one will also have a Part 2.

17. Spicy Tangential Opinion: I don’t care if my writing makes the characters out of character. I try to tag that if I can, but let’s be real here. Either I’m writing a character that originally has a limited backstory and a very real chance at an open-ended future, or I didn’t like the canon character and I’m rejecting that reality and replacing it with my own. Does it mean that I don’t or am refusing to recognize character flaws? No, and that’s the beauty of fanfic. You can do whatever you want. You might get hate for it or you might not. For example, I am a fan of Severus Snape (RIP Alan Rickman). Does his character have flaws? Yes. Do I like the way he was canonically written? No. Are his actions justifiable? Hell no. Is that going to stop me from being a fan? Again, no. He is arguably one of the most disagreed upon character of that series. I don’t see a need to defend why I write him the way I do. I don’t see a need to defend him in discourse, and I’m certainly not going to be hateful about it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion about it. Yes, there was probably some underlying intent when the character was written. I’m not here (unless you’re specifically asking my opinion on it) I’m not here to read in between the lines with characters like Snape. I do not care enough to lose friends over opinions like that.

Beatrice Kiddo/The Bride - Kill Bill

A fair bit of Saarai and Ty’s relationship is inspired by Beatrice and BB’s relationship, as well as the way the film(s) ultimately end with Bill’s death (though in Saarai’s case there’s enough difference in how things start and play out to say it’s not identical, but I definitely drew on this film a lot when thinking of them, they’re 18+ and very bloody (I mean they’re Tarantino films so LOL) but they’ve been among my favourites ever since I first watched them!). Much like The Bride, Saarai is a single mother who wants to make sure her child is allowed to grow up without the influence of a toxic father, as well as a mother that would do anything at the end of the day - even kill - if it means keeping her baby safe.

Katniss Everdeen - The Hunger Games

Saarai and Ni’kasi (though they are twins/the same age), have the same close bond that Katniss has with her sister Prim. As Katniss was a reluctant leader elected by her friends and others of the Rebellion against President Snow, the same is true of Saarai being thrust into a position of leadership in the Alliance. She never wanted to be the leader, but given that she had much of the charisma that others like Aria and even Vano to an extent lacked, a good portion of leading the Alliance fell onto Saarai regardless. I am also kinda tempted to do some sort of little reference/crossover drawing of the whole “if we burn, you burn with us!” thing because I can totally see her throwing that kinda speech at both Valkorion and Arcann :’DD

Eowyn - Lord of the Rings

There’s not as much to say about Eowyn that doesn’t already overlap with the previous two ladies, so this one will be shorter (sorry!) but Saarai is equally as skilled in lightsaber combat as Eowyn is with her sword. And lastly, I like to think a little bit of that “I don’t need no man to save me” probably came from Eowyn too!

4. Heartbeat, for the WIP asks? 🥺💜

This one is actually for a touching prompt in my inbox! It's a gentle relaxation time with newlywed Malavai and Mavasha while he listens to her heart and reminisces about their time together.

Here's the rough of what I have so far!

The rumble of thunder outside was muffled by the walls of their home and rain tapped the windows in a relaxing rhythm. Dromund Kaas had weather that many hated, but for Malavai and Mavasha it was relaxing. And it was home. 

They decided their first house together would be in Kaas City and they finally had a day to relax within it. Their home was toasty warm regardless of the cold storm outside and the only light coming into the room was the occasional flash of lightning from outside.

For the first time since they purchased the place the newlyweds were laying in their bed together without any work needing to be done. The torguta sighed happily and combed her clawed fingers through Malavais raven black hair. The captain was comfortable and relaxed with his head rested on her chest. This was the most comfortable and at ease he had been in years, or maybe ever. 

"I told you that a lazy day was a good idea, my heart" Mavasha said quietly in an attempt to not disturb their peaceful silence. The domesticity was new to both of them, but it was something they could see themselves getting used to.

Malavai pet one of his wife's lekku, tracing the blood red patterning with his index finger. "Yes, I must admit I'm glad you talked me into this" he said. "I've never felt this content. While I enjoy my work, and I love watching you work, it's nice to not have the entire Empire resting on our shoulders for a day."

Mavasha smiled softly. It was refreshing to see her workaholic husband relaxing. "Agreed, love." She brought her hand that wasn't tangled in Malavai's hair up to meet his hand on her lekku to lace their fingers together. His cheeks dusted a soft pink and he returned the gentle grip. The comfortable silence fell between them again and the Captain closed his eyes to enjoy the bliss of the moment. 

As he lay on his lover,  Malavai could hear the gentle beating of her heart. Relaxed and calm. Listening to it reminded him of all their time together. When they were a few years younger and the sith lord was still courting him, sometimes she would have been found standing close behind him while he worked. He could practically hear her strong heart beating fast alongside his own. A smile spread on his face as he recalled the pleasant memory.

From the Character development couples asks

3: By contrast, what was the moment that first made their ~heart~ Soft for the other person? Not necessarily a conscious realization of “I love this person,” but a moment that had them like “Oh…I adore them…”

So their meeting happens differently in Mavasha's true canon, they met before Malavai's demotion when the two of them were young adults. Mavasha's master, Yavira, had her working to aid the war effort during her training, so they ended up working together often.

Mavasha instantly felt a fondness for him, but didn't think much of it and treated him as the soldier he was, though she was very impressed with his work. It wasn't until they ran their final op together that she realized she may have really felt something for him. She ended up getting knocked down from a surprise attack and Malavai managed to not only save her, but bring down her attackers with his quick thinking. (This will be in her story once I finally post the damn thing)

Malavai, however, thought of her as his superior through all of their time together in their younger years. Sith would always outrank him, even apprentices, and to try and pursue a personal relationship was inappropriate. Once they parted ways was when he was willing to admit to himself that he had liked her company. Distance made his heart grow fonder, which made it that much more difficult when he became a permanent member of her crew later under Baras's watch.

4: Does this change over time? What will always reliably make them melt with how much they adore the other character?

Malavai always loves seeing Mavasha use her strength and intimidation against her enemies. Nothing can excite him like seeing a sith brandish their power in the name of the empire. Though he does also enjoy the small moments of privacy when he can see the part of her that no one else sees. The gentle woman that loves him with all her heart.(hearing her say his first name rather than "Captain" or "Quinn" is also a weak spot for him)

Mavasha can't help but swoon when her captain takes charge of a mission. He is very skilled at what he does and incredibly intelligent. Even if he can be a bit stuffy at times, she adores his expertise. She also finds his bashful behavior toward romance endearing and her heart melts every time he has called her "my Love" especially when he lets the pet name slip in front of others

13: What is their go-to for making a partner feel loved?

Because of some troubles in the past, Malavai often has a hard time believing that he's good enough for Mavasha. He tends to feel that he doesn't deserve her. Her response to that is to remind him of all they have been through together and hold him for as long as he needs. She also likes to do small things to remind him regularly that she loves him, like make him a meal on those days he is too busy to remember to care for himself, or surprise him with a gift or a night for just the two of them. She never lets him forget how much he means to her.

Malavai, however, having never really been focused on a love life, ended up doing what he does in every situation that he doesn't understand well. He studied until he felt proficient in the subject. He tries to do acts of affection in private or in their off time (kisses on the cheek, holding her hand, setting up date nights, getting her gifts, etc) but sometimes his heart is too full and over time he gets more bold and little things slip, like calling her affectionate names, holding her arm/waist, minor displays of affection after rough missions. He doesn't go overboard with anything he does, but it means more to Mavasha than she could ever explain.

F. Forgive: How good is your OC at apologizing? Do they own up to it when they’ve made a mistake? How easily does your OC forgive other people?

Mavasha is terrible with apologies, especially early in her travels. She gets a little better about admitting her faults after she has her family, but it's still rare. She hates being wrong.

As for forgiveness, that really depends on circumstances. Due to her past with betrayal, she doesn't take kindly to it (I don't think anyone would). Malavai got lucky that she loved him so much, but he was kept far away from her for a long time before she finally was able to forgive him.

I. Individuality: Is your OC’s morality more influenced by the society they live in, or their own critical thinking?

She bases all of her decisions on whats best for her family, herself, and the Empire, in that order. The Empire is important to her to a point since it's her home, but her family will always come first.
