4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in? i’d love to write the movie about his love story with his wife maria. i KNOW it. like i know exactly how it happens and there’s drama and twists and turns and LOVE. but since i most likely won’t get to write it into a movie, i do hope someday to write it as a fic and get it up on ao3. but yeah it would be a great movie. the poor street artist and the wild girl from the aristocracy. tale as old as time (wait a minute 🤔😉)

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character? SO MANYYYYYY but one i’m rather fond of is that he loves to cook/bake. i think he’s always had a knack for it and would often help his mother in the kitchen when he was a child. cooking is definitely one of his love languages and he absolutely loved making things for maria, both when they were courting and after they were married. i mentioned this here but when maria was pregnant she had very bad insomnia and also very wild cravings, but she didn’t know how to cook at All (she grew up with servants) so she always woke maurice in the middle of the night craving the silliest concoction of foods. maurice was so sleepy but he’d always make it for her <3 and of course he loved getting to share this love with belle. i always imagine belle being his little sous-chef when he’s preparing meals in their kitchen. it’s some of his fondest memories in that cottage :”)

What's an emoji, an emoticon and/or any symbol that reminds you of this character or you think the character would use a lot? well an easy one is 🎨 because he is, of course, an artist🤌 when i think of him i also think of gears and clockwork, since he’s introduced making a music box. i also think of his little glasses that he wears when he’s working on intricate details of his art pieces. OH AND HIS HAT! i’m not sure what symbol he would use. i think he likes floral patterns a lot though, and they appear in a lot of his art without him trying.

21. If you're a fic writer and have written for this character, what's your favorite thing to do when you're writing for this character? What's something you don't like? !!!!!!!!!! i sure do write for this character!!! here’s my series of him with maria and here’s my series when belle is a little kiddo and they’re in villeneuve :3 anyway, hm.

i think maybe my favorite thing to do is show all the ways he loves. like it’s so clear how deeply maurice loves. he’d go to the ends of the earth for his daughter, and he still clearly longs for maria all these years later. maurice is the type of man that, if you’re one of his people, you will forever be secure in that knowledge. you won’t ever NOT feel his gentle, but powerful love. i really love exploring his relationship with maria because of this, it breaks my heart but gosh it’s so sweet in the moment!!! i also love exploring his grief after losing her, whilst having to raise belle on his own. even in the midst of his devastation, his love for his family always shines through 🥺

i don’t really know how to answer the second part. what’s something i don’t like about writing him? nothing really. i mean i don’t love writing him so SAD but that’s LIFE, BABEY! and i do actually enjoy exploring the angst haha. but no i can’t think of anything really. i don’t think i’d write for him if i didn’t like writing him, lmao.

ohhh man I just finished rolan’s quest on my second playthrough and am vibing with him much more than on my first do you have any more babey rolan thoughts? I can imagine him being pouty about everything from needing changes to needing naps and then to waking up from those naps, or his teddy needing to be washed, I feel like he’d fuss about everything

Oh you knoow he is a very fussy bab! He likes it when everything is perfect, just right!

His bottle needs to be the right warmth (too hot or too cold he'll spit the nipple out and not open his mouth until his milk is perfect!!)

Rolan also does not play well with other tiny ones- you'll find him off in the corner, huffing because everyone is toooo rowdy and none of them will let him decide what too play (all the games he wants to play are magic based so, something not every tiny can do) so he's off playing by himself!

While at the inn, Jaheira basically gives on person the task of babysitting Rolan.

When he's started fussing and getting a bit too uppity at the bar, that person will come in, scoop him up and ignore his protest by cooing at him like, "Ooh such nasty words from such a little tiefling, I think it's proper time for you to be getting to bed. Let's get you ready for sleepy times." (And some nights had resulted in the person having to hold the wizard apprentice on their lap as Rolan is sobbing because he's just a scared little boy who misses his big sister and brother. They rock him gently and promise him they'll be back, they will be saved ;^; )

Summary: Dark is feelin sappy and sentimental (with a sprinkling of heartache, for taste)

AN: I’m obsessed with the concept of freckles and moles being the places where past soulmates loved to kiss you the most, so I took that and ran with it -- I hope you enjoy!

It is a quiet Saturday evening. You have been able to keep Dark away from any extra work successfully, using your sweet kisses and loving promises. After spending the day in each other’s quiet company, away from the chaos of the other egos, you’ve found yourself laying across the couch with your legs across Dark’s lap. His gentle caresses along your calf and knee never fail to spark a few butterflies in your stomach. He had set up the record player to play a variety of moony love songs—as much as he tries to conceal his inner romantic, it makes you so giddy.

You have a book in hand, one that you’ve been trying to make time to read for ages, and Dark simply sits with closed eyes in quiet contemplation. You can’t recall the last time you had seen him quite this relaxed. His features are soft, angelic even, and occasionally he quietly hums along to whatever song is playing, his deep bass rattling your bones ever so slightly. It is in this meditative study of your lover that you notice a single freckle, right to the side of his chin. You can’t help but recall a video you had seen in passing on the internet.

“Hey, Dark?” you ask, careful to keep your volume low. There is honestly a good chance he has fallen asleep—he could be such an old man sometimes.

You hear a gentle Hm? His eyes open slightly to look at you, bleary but full of affection.

“Did you know that, apparently, some people think that prominent moles and freckles are the spots where your soulmate in a past life kissed you the most?”

He smiles gently, “That’s fascinating, darling. May I ask what prompted such an observation?”

You set your book to the side, readjusting so that you’re sitting next to Dark, halfway in his lap.

“I can see that your soulmate in a past life loved to kiss you right—” you place a gentle kiss, “—here.”

It takes everything in Dark to maintain his composure as he is overcome with visions of the past. He remembers the way that you would kiss him—no, not him but Damien—in that exact spot every time he passed an exam with flying colors. He remembers noticing the handful of freckles across his chest or the mole on his shoulder, but now realizes that those were never there on Damien’s body. They were, however, placed in almost the same exact spot you would litter kisses whenever Damien would let you be in control for the night. An almost foreign heat rises to his cheeks, but then he sees you. He notices the small spot under your jaw where he—Damien—would kiss you to tease and fluster you. He sees the place on your forehead where Damien would always place a gentle kiss to calm and comfort you. But Dark can see you now, your brow furrowed in concern. He forces himself back to the present, placing a kiss on your forehead and pulling you into his arms.

You’re caught a little off-guard, but you reciprocate immediately. You’ve seen that look in his eyes before, mostly here and there when you first met. It was a sort of deep sadness, as if he knew something you didn’t. You’d always wanted to voice your concerns, console him if needed, but you had been so shy then.

“Is everything okay, Dark?” you ask, timidly, not wanting to upset him further.

He squeezes you tighter, taking a shaky breath. “Everything’s fine, my heart.”

The pet name makes you blush.

“I suppose I’m just feeling sentimental tonight,” he continues, pulling away from you, but not too far. He still holds you close but can’t seem to look you quite in the eyes. “I am simply so grateful to have you in my life.”

You smile at him, gently turning his face to yours and kissing him tenderly. “I love you,” you murmur, pulling away to look at him. He looks back, his dark eyes soft and adoring.

“I love you too, my sweet.”

You both settle back into each other’s arms, appreciating the music and each other’s presence. Resting your head on his shoulder, you close your eyes, allowing yourself to doze. Dark breaks the silence one last time.

“Also, just for your information,” he whispers, “I’m sure that you are the reason I have that freckle on my chin.”

You smile and let out a small huff of amusement before replying, “Yeah, sounds about right.”

As Dark hears your breathing even out, it takes everything within him to not let his glassy eyes shed a tear. His brain is swarmed with painful nostalgia and the misery of having to keep your entire past from you. The secret bears heavily on what little soul he has left. He won’t succumb to the misery, though. You wouldn’t want that. He instead chooses to focus on the fact that you are here now and that, in and of itself, is more than he could ever deserve or ask for.
