MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
Welcome to my blog!
I'm Mika from Slovakia currently living in Japan. I already joined the 30s club, I'm married and have a little boy. As you can see English isn't my first language, so there are some mistakes 😅
What you can find here:
I'm going to post my little creations in my clumsy English here (list is below👇) and maybe even links to my newest YouTube videos (not really decided about this yet). As you can see I'm big acotar fan, especially Azriel's 👀, but I like also other characters and other series like HP etc., so I hope to write for that, too. If you'd like to get more in touch, you can visit my main blog that is written in Slovak, but you can use translation option on the right to translate it into your language. I post there my own original stories as well as Japan travel and life content.
I hope you will like it and enjoy my little world. Please, feel free to like, comment, reblog, follow and write messages. Also if you have some questions, don't be shy, I promise I won't bite and try to answer as fast as possible. I don't have tag list at the moment, but if you want to be tagged in some series or character, let me know.

Thinking about how the verb predstaviť means two different things depending on which reflexive pronoun is used with it
Predstaviť sa - to introduce oneself
Predstaviť si - to imagine

Word of the day - Polonyna: Polonyna (Ukrainian: полонина, romanized: polonyna; Rusyn: полонина, romanized: polonyna; Polish: połonina; Slovak: polonina) is a specific, regionally-focused geographic term, that is used as a designation for areas of montane meadows (a landform type) in the upper subalpine or alpine zones of the Carpathian Mountains. - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polonyna_(montane_meadow)

Dont mind me im just translating all of the warrior cats names into my native language (Slovak) and am considering translating some passages of the books.
For shits and giggles, you know how it is :)
(cause hey if they refuse to translate more than the first two warrior cats books over here then might as well do it myself or something)
anyway did you know that in slovak there is no word for tawny? so if i were to translate tawnypelt's name it would be Hnedá or Žltohnedá srsť (brow or yellow-brown pelt), which is long and doesn't sound cool at all and am going nuts trying to find alternatives because she deserves better. So far the only contender i came up with is Okrová srsť (ochrepelt), which might not be fully accurate to her original name but it sounds much better and more interesting than just calling her brownpelt. Though it might be making her sound too interesting, considering she's a background cat erins hardly ever remember the existence for.
Tawnyspots, on the other hand can remain Hnedá škvrna (or Hnedý fľak) or Hnedé škvrny (fľaky) (Brown spot/s), it fits him and works for him. (Unless i use him to make ochre a more normalized prefix here?)
Anyway im having a blast here :)

One of my (only) favorite things about Slovak language is the "de te ne le" rule. With the exception of exceptions (and there's a lot of them, mostly loanwords), the consonant is softened when pronounced, but not in writing:
de -> ďe ("deti" -> pronounced "ďeťi", but not "debil") te -> ťe (učiteľ učiťeľ, but not telefón) ne -> ňe (Nemecko -> Ňemecko but not tunel) le -> ľe (chleba -> chľeba, but this one is a bit of a... nobody actually does with the exception of some dialects) di -> ďi (divoký -> ďivoký, but not diktátor) ti -> ťi (ticho -> ťicho, but not Timotej) ni -> ňi (nikto -> ňikto, but not nikotín) li -> ľi (...no comment on this one.)
Which, yes, we do have hard and soft consonants. (Helpful wikipedia pronunciation guide.) Some of them you are familiar with like
hard C - like "ts" in "tsunami", "t" is silent(ish)
soft C - Č - like "tsh" in English or "tsch" in German
hard S - like any S in English
soft S - Š - "sh" in EngliSH
soft Z - Ž - I will let you figure this one out, Dr. Zhivago
Not for the fun ones.
Ľ ľ
Ť ť
Ň ň
No, I will not explain.
And don't forget ŕ and ô but let's not get sidetracked.
Then if you want some more, then Czech speakers don't have Ľ in their alphabet, even if they can make that sound, but they have three extras - Ů, Ě and the most hated Ř. Ů is just a pretentious way to write Ú; the caron over "ě" generally replaces the softened consonant preceding it, e.g. taxes in Slovak are daňe (spelled like that, from singular daň) - in Czech that turns to daně.

28 augusti 2023
(this text is a short story in Slovak language and was written sometime in 2015)
Dievča (z) hviezd
Na lúke panovala noc, steblá tráv osvetľoval iba Mesiac a hviezdy. Lásku čistú, i dravú.
Miloval si ju. Tak veľmi, tak šialene, až sám si sa stal šialencom. Znášal si obety a utrpenie len kvôli nej a len vďaka nej. Iba s ňou si sa cítil plný života a radosti.
Dnes Ti ostal už len malinký kúsok z nej. Vratký plamienok, ktorým ešte bola prítomná tu na Zemi. No aj ten pomaly vyhasol a napokon úplne zmizol.
Objímal si ju, a zároveň bola vzdialená svetelné roky. Bozkával si ju, avšak to, čo zvlhčovalo Tvoje ústa, bola len krv prasknutej pery. Dotýkal si sa jej, no to, čo si cítil, bola už len samota. A jediné, čo Ti ostalo, bolo ticho a prázdnota. Jej zvonivý smiech odvial vietor, jej stopy zarástli ružami, a jej duša, sťa holubica odletela do ďalekých diaľav, tam, kde sa končí nekonečno. Vrátila sa domov. Domov, ku hviezdam.

Today my work (in Canada) went on a "field trip" in order to get ready for the new school year (I work at an elementary school) and on the way there I got to talking to a coworker who's Slovak-Canadian. Turns out both our names aren't what people call us.
Mine is Alice, but in Brazilian Portuguese, it's pronounced ah-lee-SEE, not ah-LEE-ss like in English.
Hers, on the other hand, is Timea (so pretty!), which is pronounced tee-meh-UH, not tee-meh-AH.
We've both decided to call each other by our real names. :)

New chapter is out, but this time with warning: 18+ 😋
As usually, for other languages use translation option on the right and choose your language (⚠️ Google translate quality tho)

In Slovak we don’t say we’re upset, we say we’re detuned, and I think it’s still an awful, ugly language

How does Moon feel about Zephyr throwing the chancla at Pebbles in that silly switcheroo situation?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
pissed, but well Zephyr isn't the sort to not take accountability for her actions or not have a good reason for them in the first place and Moon is a sensible person so i'm sure it wouldn't descend into something nasty
