It was break time for the agent, a heavy sigh leaving her lungs. Despite her break, she was expected to keep herself alert at all times. Still, she tried to make something out of it, scooping some ice cream out of her crepe, eating it idly. That was when she sensed the presence of another, who was ogling her crepe.

Somehow they run into each other again. Somehow, the Croagunk has acquired a few churros. He offers one to the agent with a croak.

❝Oh?❞

❝You are offering me this?❞ The agent crouches in front of the little frog as he speaks, his long brown coat brushing against the dirt on the ground, while he listens to the pokémon’s croaks. Looker nods along intently to those croaks, much as if he was involved in an intense conversation. In a way, he is. A part of his heart finds this scene to be nostalgic, a faint hint of a hazy memory of a similar situation nesting within his thoughts as he looks at the churro held out towards him. Gently, he allows his fingers to wrap around the snack. ❝That is very kind of you, yes.❞

A kind smile finds its way to his lips, his eyes, his entire face which beams softly as he looks at the Croagunk, the churro resting in his palm. He is smiling at the pokémon in front of him, he really is, but perhaps a sliver of that smile is dedicated to the memory of someone else.

He takes a small bite. It’s good. It’s really good.

❝Thank you very much. You are a very good pokémon, yes. Hah, you have managed to get a hold of quite the churros treasure, there! Congratulations on your haul!❞

A Croagunk approaches. He's scrounged up 1,000 Poke somehow, looking to attempt a toss.

Rose blinked, looking down at the little bipedal frog. “O... Oh my. Uh, Ball Guy? Are Pokemon allowed to compete?” he called.

“Why of course! This event is open to all, regardless of species!” Ball Guy replied. “As long as there’s no cheating -- no psychic powers or the like!”

“I don’t think that’ll be a problem with this little darling...” Rose handed the Croagunk his Dive Ball -- being careful to keep his hands clear of the poison claws. “Just be careful with that, okay? I wouldn’t want to see you accidentally get sucked in!”

Result: 16! (Miss)

“Oh wow!” Ball Guy exclaimed, watching as the ball went whizzing past. “That was really, really close! A bit low to the ground, but I suppose that’s fair considering your size! I’m sure if you were people sized it would have gone right in!” 

He waved at the Croagunk enthusiastically. “Goodbye! Thanks for coming, and make sure you tell your friends that they’re welcome to drop by as well, okay?”

                ❝ look at you. this is no place for a nap. ❞ the young gym leader was known for his blunt, no-nonsense attitude — something reflected by his default speaking voice.      ( deadpan. cold. not necessarily cruel, but distant. ) therefore it was notable that the way he addressed the little frog seemed downright gentle in contrast. bede had a soft spot for pokemon — he extended an unflinching kindness to them that his fellow humans had to work tirelessly for. despite his obvious biases, even a poison type wasn’t exempt.

               crouching down, the boy continued. ❝ the wild pokemon who live here are dangerous, you know. ❞

The girl crouches down, hands getting out of her pockets just to rest them on each side of his face. So roughed up ... 𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙖 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙠𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙙𝙣’𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙘𝙖𝙥𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙮𝙚𝙩.

Slowly, surely, with a gentleness she was known for, Strelitzia takes the pokémon in her arms, using the insides of her jacket to cover him from the rain.
