Sure, he also considered a few factors, but in the end, his feelings won. It simplified everything, so for someone to take so much time to figure it out, it baffled him. What about him was so thought-provoking? He ran a hand through his hair, completely ruining the pomade placed there earlier. Diego hated thinking it, but his heart dictated his thoughts at the moment. And that's when the thoughts flooded him. Was she stringing him along? Just avoiding an answer so things didn't change between them? Would he ever receive an answer. He really did not think any of this through, making huge promises about their friendship. It was bound to come back to him, waiting was his torture. He had earned it.

Diego pursed his lips, trying to keep his feelings at bay. He didn't want to tell her this, couldn't scare her away with these negative thoughts. "You just don't have to rub it in, that I was thinking this was going somewhere else." He shook his head slowly. "So, are we aiming for 5 years, waiting time?" No matter how much he tried, one snarky comment slipped past him. Thankfully, not the worst of the bunch, but bad enough. "Just so I prepare adequately, you know."
