Different possibilities of future Sera Myu

Since it is the 30th of June, Usagi's birthday, I thought I might finally post this thing that has been in my drafts for some months lol

Let's go!

So ever since the end of Musical Festival Chronicle, I've been thinking about what would be the next Sera Myu we get? During the Senshuuraku of Chronicle, Riko mentioned that when Kaguya-hime no Koibito ended, they weren't sure if Sera Myu would continue so most likely the same thing applies now. It might be possible Myu might end but we had Super Live this year so there are chances. Many might think that since the Crystal series finally comes to an end, so does anything else related to Sailor Moon, but it is very much certain that they will keep pushing out merch as it has been very profitable so far and even the Sailor Moon Museum announced that it will reopen in 2024 so there might be more musicals just like back in the day! Although we still haven't gotten any news regarding it and I for sure thought we would get some new info today... ANYWAY we have gone through all the main 5 arcs, one short story and one original so what next? I have a few ideas. (check terms at the end of the post if confused)

1) Third installment in the Snow Kaguya series

For me, it didn't really seem like Snow Kaguya was fully defeated in Chronicle, as she was defeated in the same way as she was in KHnK so it feels super random that she would be defeated NOW so maybe they could do one more musical to finally defeat Princess Snow Kaguya (maybe as Eternal Sailor Moon)

2) Something completely new

It could be possible we might get something completely new and original. Who knows? lol

3) R movie or SuperS movie

Ever since KHnK, people have been wondering if the other two movies would be made into a musical, although KHnK bore no resemblance to the movie as it pretty much followed the manga short story to the T, it is still possible that the other two movies will be made into musicals.

4) Another Story musical

ah the forgotten gem in the SM universe. I really love Another Story and I wish it would get more recognition. And since they are going with the Super/Mugen arc theme as KHnK takes place around that time and Another Story is supposed to take place after the Mugen arc so it could be a possibility. How it works in action is kinda ? as Another Story featured every major villain from Dark Kingdom arc to Mugen arc but they could focus it on the Oppositio Senshi and Apsu. It also would be cool if previous Senshi actors would return as the Oppositio Senshi (for example, AE Inners)

5) Kaguya Shima Densetsu/Snow Kaguya hybrid

So this is kind of similiar to my #1 idea but I feel like this needed to be its own thing. It could be possible that they'd fuse these two stories into one where Snow Kaguya replaces Dark Plasman and she is somehow connected to Kaguya Island since they have the same name(although she was given that name by Kakeru but who knows. Myulore tends to be confusing sometimes lol). And the reason for this is that I think that we will not get Kaguya Shima Densetsu remade and I will get to that soon

6) The Dracul series remake

I have my doubts about this since the Dracul series tends to be kinda confusing and since it's a story that requires all 3/4 musicals to be watched and that all to happen in the span of 3 years would be kinda hard to follow (during BanMyu it only took about a year and a half as they did multiple musicals in the span of one year but now they are doing only one musical a year, not counting Super Live). And the 4 musicals had way too many plot points in them so it would be fairly impossible to put that all in one musical. Also, it had kinda dark stuff in it so not sure if it would be allowed to be performed in this day and age lmao. (But I actually had a dream some time ago that Sayaka Okamura(Snow Kaguya) sang Muma no Oodri as Death Lamia so yeah lol)

7) Sailor V musical

I think the best point for a Sailor V musical would have been in 2018 after LMF as the main story has ended and the cast at the time had had their "graduation". So as much as I want a Sailor V musical I do not really see them doing it now when they have a cast of all the Senshi (unless they decide to do multiple musicals a year)

8) Kaguya Shima Densetsu remake

I do not see this happening as of now cause I just cannot see Dark Plasman played by a woman. I do not mean this with the intent to hurt anyone's feelings or to attack those who are fans of the all-female cast. It's just that Dark Plasman has such a deep voice that I just don't think it would be possible, or if they did, I think I would personally not enjoy it. I mean, if there is someone who has a deep voice like that, I would be happy to see it, but it just seems kinda unlikely as the deepest voice we have had in NewMyu this far are Syu Shiotsuki (UNV-LMF Sailor Uranus) and Kei Oogi (UNV Kaolinite). So unless they return to the mixed cast they had in BanMyu I do not see Kaguya Shima Densetsu happening in its original form in any way in the near future.

9) Other side stories

This is kinda random but maybe they could make musicals from other side stories. This seems very unlikely tho as the other side stories are a lot shorter and KHnK (unless they decide to make the Exam Battles into one musical or something idk) Demon Tree arc is also a possibility

10) NogiMyu R

Don't really see this happening as it has been quite a long time since the previous NogiMyu (although Super Live made a comeback so who knows). The only things to support this are the facts that at the end of NogiMyu they teased us with the Black Moon arc and ever since then it's been a possibility. Also on the Official Sailor Moon website, NogiMyu is still listed in the "Stage" section even after all this time so maybe they could be planning something with it. But if NogiMyu does make a comeback, I hope they do not do the DK arc AGAIN.

So there are many possibilities but will any of them come true? Who knows lol

It makes me so fucking salty that they’re pandering to the 90’s fans so fucking much. crystal was supposed something new and tell the true story of sailor moon. But the whiny nostalgic fans would not stop complaining for five minutes. I really wish the SM fanbase would stop acting like sm 90’s is the holy grail for everything sailor moon, when in fact the writing sucked a lot. ESPECIALLY SINCE I SEE PEOPLE ACTUALLY THINK THE SENSHI BELITTLING USAGI IS BETTER THAN THEIR RELATIONSHIP IN CRYSTAL. Fun fact: I actually hated both Rei and Chibiusa’s guts until I read the manga and watched crystal 🤷🏽‍♀️ Sorry but Rei and Chibiusa both being brats doesn’t do it for me 90’s fans.

They totally forgot that Crystal supposed to be have been a love letter to Sailor Moon as a whole but based of the manga not just the 90's anime. Meaning it should have paid homage to the manga, PGSM, Sera Myu, and 90's anime. They turned it into pandering to the 90's anime .

Lord and people think they had the best friendships in the 90's anime compared to the manga and crystal?

How many fanfics have been created where she leaves them for America or another friend group because they betray her?

Especially Rei betraying her by trying to be the leader and get Mamo back??

I wanted her so BAD in StarS arc in the 90's anime to tell them fuck off after they was throwing her under the bus for the Starlights.

How did I only just recognize that every sailor senshi’s seiyu Is singing in Moon Effect?? The song that plays in Usagi’s Eternal Transformation scene. THE SCENE IVE WATCHED THE SHIT OUT OF CUZ IM OBSESSED

Like I instantly recognized Haruka and Michiru’s seiyu singing Eternal Eternity

And I also recognized the Amazoness quartet’s seiyu were singing Welcome to the Circus (an absolute banger btw)

Now, about your question: active seramyu blogs? Oof, that’s tough. There used to be some but I haven’t seen them in the tags for some time now... So there’s a lot of content out there, just not as much NEW content, you know? But here we go:

senshidaily is actually about Sailor Moon in general, but they post gorgeous sera myu gifs too, and they’re very active!

staarry-skies has been posting gifs of the latest musical!!

vampiru-chan (who runs the sera-myu-week blog!) and gracemyheart post about Bandai Myu, but unfortunately they do not like Nelke myu, so it depends on what you want ^^’

I think crazykacey is not usually active but lately they’ve given us reports, files and pamphlet translations of the latest musical!!! I believe it was also them who gave us audio files of The Super Live songs in their short appearance in Washington a few years ago, so clearly they’ve been serving us :)

You would find all these people in the #sera myu tag on tumblr though! It’s sadly not that busy of a tag, so whenever I want to see myu stuff, that’s where I go!

babe you know that I feel so strongly for her that I still hold a grudge against emma frost to this day. also I miss her in comics, she barely shows up anymore... mostly I think it's cause people flip a coin on what team she should be a part of and can't agree and see her as c tier anyway but I'm not most people and that's my fire starter girl.

I will always love her run of new warriors (okay I mean I love that team in general), I wish she'd been in the latest incarnation of the team instead of vance.

I do like that when she does get to show up it's more a in a mentor role like in young allies (which yes I love her standing up to emma after what emma put her through, yes I know emma has changed as a character it was still A Moment for me) a la kitty and jubilee taking on a mentor roles too, it shows how far she's come and what she's gone through to get there.

okay so if I'm not in love with the purple theme characters I'm usually in love with the green themed characters and I adored mako as a kid. the whole thing of her wanting to skate (yes sorry lexi that was the 90s cartoon) and kick ass and the electric powers were just so cool to me. I've probably mentioned it to you before since we've talked so often about SM anyway but as a kid I wanted her rose earrings which surprised the hell out of my mom since I never wanted anything 'girly'. (I never got those earrings when she found out it was from an anime thing and she thought anime was bad)

I mean handsdown she had my fave song in that one sera myu musical we watched but I am already biased.

I've loved every incarnation of her really and it's a tie between the manga version and pgsm which version I love best...I'd say for today it's pgsm one which had such an interesting take on her character and delved more into how alone she felt.

I finally watched the first Utena musical yayyy!!!

I had wanted to watch it for a long time, but I was always late to @empty-movement streams and I couldn’t find any other place to watch it... until today... (๑>◡<๑)

As with Three sisters, I made some gifs and I’m gonna say some things about the musical( ^ω^ ) (I think this will become a habit here on my blog hehe)!!!

first we have UTENAAAA played by AMI NOUJOUUUU, who I really love!!! I met her as Jupiter and I’m really happy to see her again as UTENAAAA(*≧∀≦*) She played her so good, she really reminded me of her🥺💗

then we have YUKA ANGEL VOICE YAMAUCHI who played Anthy😩💕I met her in NogiMyu as well, but she doesn’t get any chance to sing properly😞BUT HAVE YOU HEARD THE COVERS SHE POSTS ON INSTAGRAM????? ALSO, she’s literally Anthyyyyy(*´꒳`*)I love her sm

next one is Touuuuga, played by Kimito Totani, (whom I didn’t know before this hehe) I don’t know what to say haha, he was great... it’s been a long time since I saw men acting so it was strange haha😛my mom said he was handsome(´･_･`) and I was like ಠ_ಠ but yeah... let’s continue

next one is Mikiiii (played by Natsuki Osaki) okay, so, first I’m gonna say that I would have casted a girl to play Miki, (Come on, am I the only one who thought Miki was a woman when he first appeared on the anime?) Natsuki was good, he’s a great actor, I liked him, but his voice just didn’t sound like Miki’s (>_<) (I’m just a little bit glad they changed him for the second musical, even though I don’t know yet how Yuta is as Miki)🤔

No, I’m not done with Riona yet!!!

RIONA MAKES MY HEART MELT EVERY TIME I SEE HER (〃ω〃) IM SO HAPPY TO FINALLY LISTEN TO RIONA’S VOICE!!! cause in Sera Myu she never sings alone🥺AND I AM AMAZED, HER VOICE IS WONDERFUL😩💗😍💕🥰

Then we have the THE QUEEN Arisa Suzukiiiii!!!!💛💛💛Omg SHE IS NANAMI, she literally IS(*^◯^*) I love her so much!!!! And her voice ahhh(*´꒳`*)

And last but not least we have: Yumeeee MY SWEET YUMEEEE, WHO better to play Wakaba than YUME TAKEUCHI? (´・ω・) now she just turned (along with Riona) into the person I’ve seen the most in musicals and plays!!!! And I’m so happy bout it T^T cause I really really really love Yume, she is so sweet and her voice is so PERFECT, it leaves me shocked every time I hear it!!!(●´ω｀●)

So yeah that’s it, on Tuesday we’ll be watching the second musical yayyy!!!! So look forward for other one of these(*^ω^*)

Myu review 1: 1993 Gaiden Dark Kingdom Fukkatsu Hen!

I am a big fan of Sailor Moon and when in  2012-13 (i think) i found that they were musicals based on the manga and the series( that went between 1993 to 2005) i was so happy. I began watching them on youtube when it was announce in 2013 a revival of the musicals due to the 20th aniversary of the serie/manga. To be honest i watched this last musicals all in order and i love it, but when it came with the old ones i only watched the first stage (anzamoon) and some bits of Fumina, none of Miyuki (sadly) and some things of Marina. So thank you to this quarentine and to @sailorzakuro​ who encouraged me i decided to review the first, second and third stage of the musical (that is the Bandai era) and then i will do the same with the Nelke´s one. 

Before i began, please consider that this is my opinion about it, you can have another and that is more than fine. So please respect what are you going to read below. Also  since it is not my area of expertise  i am not judging the singing of the actress (all i am going to say about it is: i like it/i don´t) i will leave that for the fans who knows and understands it. Feel free to message me if you see something that is wrong or even to talk to me... more than happy to meet more myu fan. 

So the first thing that i have to say about this musical is that i have a couple of issues with it. I know i should be soft because it was the first one and i will, i promise. But there are some problems (i think) with the screenplay. It was made perfectly clear that this musical takes places after the first season of SM ended in Japan. So, having that in mind here are my questions: Why the shenshis did not rembember their past life? . In the serie this happened, we have a episode with it, so it made no sense (at least for me) that the girls remember  nothing about their previous life. I mean, they know who beryl and the shitennou are... idk they messed up that i think. It works if you have not watched the first season i guess, but otherwise, it was weird. Another question is what kind of relationship have Usagi and Mamoru? Are they friends?. Because he called her “usako” and she “mamo-chan” and i thought that if they are calling each other that way... maybe there were something more than friends?. I do not know maybe i am being very critical about this (LOL) but you have to admit that some things are off (if i am wrong with this please, please, correct me). 

Leaving all this behind, i have to say that it is a nice musical. Anzamoon is cute (althought i think she went very hard with the crybaby moments) and looked so young but her voice is amazing...gosh!.. Her moon was very poor tbh (and i hate saying this because i love anza with all my heart), her Usagi needed more work too, but it was her first musical... so she was pretty good. The one thing i have to say about her is that the very first moment you see her, you know she is having the time of her life, enjoying herself and i really love that. We barely see anything from Ami/Ayako & Mako/Kanoto wich is bad and sad but i think they were ok. Rei/Hikoro... i have opposite feelings about her because she had their great moments but then she behaved like Minako, so let´s say that i would like to see more of her because i do not think it is fair to criticize her based only in one musical. Minako/Nana my sweet dear girl, i love her so much. I know, I KNOW she is not the Minako we are used to, but she reminded me of S1 Minako  (sweet but mature ) and i love it. It ´s pretty early but i Nana is one of my fav Minako/Venus. Luna&Artemis Ok so i am not a big fan of them being in stage, they look weird (the nogimyu´s luna  was worst for me) and also they do not move as cast, maybe Artemis... but yeah. Tuxedo/Mizuki unpopular opinnion  her but i really, really like him. Again he reminded me of S1 Mamoru and was soo god, also he had a very good chemistry with Anza.His voice was pretty tbh, he sound so refined and sofisticated. The Shitennou were good, they were based on the anime so it was a little rare and strange when Nephrire talked about Naru-Chan or when  Zoisite said that was in love with Kunzite when you totally see that Minako and Kunzite were a thing in the past as the rest of the girls with the others. Lastly Beryl/ Yuri was very good,( but i like her more in the upcomings musicals) the only thing that bothered me (not because of her necessary) was her costumes, gosh she looks awful in some scenes.

I like this musical, really.When i saw it for the first time i loved it and since i love the fist arc (again another unpopular opinion) i am always more than happy to see any adaptation of it. I watched it yesterday again after a couple of months i and have so much fun. Yes i know that i complained about the script but aside that, the musicals is very good. I love how Sailor Moon is so special and grand that it have a lot of representations and i will never get tired of them. Sera myu is amazing, really.

5) Hotaru Nomoto or Mizuki Yamashita as Sailor Moon?

Ohh, my dear Mizuki... she’s SO GOOD and underrated I love her sm <3.

6) Momoyo Koyama or Miria Watanabe as Sailor Mercury?

Momoyo, cos Miria was a worse singer. Their Mercurys are kinda similar, over-excitable and too cute, but Momoyo wins on singing so there you go.

7) Karen Kobayashi or Ranze Terada as Sailor Mars?

KAREN Karen is amazing honestly my favourite Mars since... Megumi I think... shit. Ranze, Mars was not her role for me, idk why they put her in that role tbh.

8) Kaede or Ami Nojo as Sailor Jupiter?

I’m gonna say Kaede, while Ami is a better singer and technically a better actor Kaede made Jupiter less annoying for me.

9) Rimo Hasegawa or Hina Higuchi as Sailor Venus?

I keep hearing the word authenticity thrown around. Do you think Sailor Moon (the 90s anime/Crystal/manga/pgsm) has authenticity? Has the 90s anime or Crystal in particular ever lost its authenticity from season to season or any episodes that stand out where it strikes you as some other show in the same genre? Has there ever been a moment like that, to you, in your opinion where Sailor Moon/MLB ever lost its authenticity? Was it temporary (like just for a season) or permanent?

Wow That’s a good question

Let’s start with defining the word Authenticity.

Authenticity- the quality of being authentic.

Let’s define Authentic then lol

Authentic -

1. worthy of acceptance or belief as conforming to or based on fact

2.conforming to an original so as to reproduce essential features

3.made or done the same way as an original

4. not false or imitation: REAL, ACTUAL

5.true to one’s own personality, spirit, or character

Let me define two more things that will help my answer.

Identity-  the condition of being the same with something described or asserted.

Genuine -truly what something is said to be

Because to me when you are talking about Authenticity, I think Identity and being genuine goes along with it.  

For me authentic means all this but also staying to the principles that has been established in the show from the beginning. Staying true to the vision and one self. Keeping the identity it has set for itself while evolving and maturating as the series goes. Staying Real and not becoming something that is not. Practicing what it’s preaches.

For the most part, Sailor Moon as a whole has stayed authentic. It has stayed true the principles and characteristics that has defined what its is for 27 years. The core characteristics that Naoko, its original creator, established in her manga.

This got long so read more. 

At its core, Sailor Moon is a series about love, friendship, girl power, family, believing in oneself, believing in others, supporting one other,following your dreams,fighting through adversity(even if the adversity comes from another galaxy), embracing who you are (character development), and one’s destiny.  

It’s still have it’s Identity to the point that people who haven’t watched or barely watched Sailor Moon knows what it’s about.

Now if you want to break it down by versions, this is where it’s gets tricky. (I’m not doing Sera Myu since I still haven’t watched them yet.)  

The Manga: Yes. Not only because it’s the source material which is the foundation for the whole series but it does stay true to itself as the series progresses. You still can find the founding characteristic that make the series in each arc as each arc adds a level.

PGSM: Yes. Even if it’s a different take on the original story, it’s still have the same principles that make Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon by highlighting some of the characteristics more than the manga could. (Character development and the friendships)

Crystal: Yes & No-  For the most part, it’s does stay true to itself minus little details but sometimes it did lose its identity and become something that it was not. Crystal for its most part supposed to be a fresh new retelling of the manga not remake of the 90’s anime. In the 3rd season it lost some of that identity but not all of it to be deemed unrecognizable.

The 90’s anime: No.It doesn’t stay true to itself or genuine as the series progresses even tho int he beginning it was authentic. Things become lost or murked up as the series went on. By the times season five rolled around it lost its true identity.  Sure from the outside looking in it would appear that it didn’t and still have the authenticity. If you look certain episodes, you were say “ Yes This is the Sailor Moon we know and love!"  But then in certain episodes you’ll be like “ Hold Up! This is not what SM stands for.” This were the term "Practice what you Preach” comes into full swing.  For me one of the key points of SM is the friendships and girl power. How girls can rally behind each other, support each other and kick some ass. Now in the 90′s anime while we do have that, sometimes it gets lost for the some fact you may have one episode where they are supporting each other but the next you have the main character being constantly bullied and put down by someone who supposed to be her close friends. Also when you have a new set of guardians come of the scene and instead of both teams being on friendly terms and supporting each other, you have hostility. 

It became something that at the beginning it wasn’t. It’s lost it’s identity when it become apparent that so much wasted potential was lost for the characters and series to grow for the sake of it becoming repetitive  and losing it’s sense of purpose and direction. 

So yeah for the most part Sailor Moon is still Authentic

As for Miraculous Ladybug- For me it has lost it but it can get it back cause it’s an ongoing series. It can come back to it’s true self that it once was in season one. Even I haven’t watched the newest episode but from everyone responses it showed that glimmer of Authenticity back.   

So that’s that. lol
