Something I wish a Miraculous reboot does (if there ever is one) is having seasonal villains like Ninjago or Kirby.

Those series kept their main villains (Dedede and Garmadon) till their used all their history potential at the time and decided to redeem them and change them for other stronger and iconic villains or just become a second show for the main new attraction (for example Dedede in the dark matter trilogy being replaced by said evil race and Garmadon in rise of the snakes being replaced by the Serpentine and Pythor) yet Ladybug has been reusing Hawkmoth for way to long (he should have been defeated in 3 seasons like Garmadon or how dedede only had 3 main antagonistic roles till he became a hero) this Can also help the world building like the previous two (for example Ninjago made the serpentine which tied with Master Chen and the cursed realm which tied with Morro which tied with Nadakhan which tied to master Chen right hand man. Or how the dream fountain connected with the ancients which tied with the nova comets which connect with Haltman which connects with Magolor which connects with the ancients. This kind of things make the world more grounded and make feel useful for the old viewers for giving attention in previous seasons).

And is not that hard,I can give 3 villain concepts to replace Hawkmoth for a pair of seasons each.

1-a bunch of evil Kwamis which caused the creation of all miraculous for selfish wishes escaped from their imprisonment made by the good kwamis and order of the miraculous.

2-a mercenary organization tries to get the miraculous using high technology able to manipulate the miraculous Powers.

3-undead hunters which got a sinister fate in hands of miraculous users have been hunting down miraculous users for revenge.

Now let’s connect all:the undead hunters were created by the most evil kwami which got trapped by both Good and Evil kwamis for wanting extinction of existence,the evil kwamis once had plagg as their second in command till he betrayed them after seeing he’s been using the power of destruction wrong,the criminal organization is using the same material the miraculous are made of to power their machines but the leader of that organization also gave the peacock and Butterfly miraculous to Gabriel in the past so Gabriel asks them to get the miraculous till the reveal to Gabriel of Adrien being car noir which undoes the deal but the leader of the mercenary organization becomes pals with the leader of the evil kwamis making a parallel with plagg and Adrien and making a stronger connection between cat noir and the villain and at the end the leaders of the undead hunters were the victims of old creation and Destruction users (which worked with the evil miraculouses) at the time plagg was evil which was also the time Tikki redeemed plagg.

I just expanded the world of miraculous by making them their Pure evil villain,their ancient enemy villain them and modern villain which also connects into the first villain Hawkmoth. Which is more than astruc ever did in 4 seasons!!! And that’s just Some of the ideas I have without including the Minor recurring villains Rhino,Electro,Vulture,Sandman and Scorpion style or the new villains created by the old villains. There’s so much ground yet so little use to it

It's clear to almost everyone in the fandom that Gabriel has long overstayed his welcome as a villain. To the show's credit, the writers have at least tried to introduce other antagonistic characters (Nathalie, Lila, Chloe, Felix, and Tomoe), but all of them are connected to Gabriel in some way or another, and it's painfully obvious that the show prioritizes the "Akuma of the week" formula over focusing on any of those other antagonists.

Also, the ideas you came up with sound really interesting, anon.

Hey it's me the not-anon Mary sue(in case folks care I don't post anon)

To agress your response first(trying to clarify my point)

Marinette doesn't face consequences, she gets punished.(I ended up using a mega-kuma example latwr too)

A made up example: Say Marinette is nervous about talking to Luka so she uses the snake to reset time repeatedly, checking each of his responses until she finds the right words to get the response she wants.

What the show would not do is have Luka discover her use and get mad that she was manipulating hom, not allowing him a response to her 'true' self's first thoughts.

What it would do is have Su-Han who had never appeared before show up, explain he had tracked her use of the snake and how her use of the snake at this exact moment had caused a celestial conjunction that released a demon which has possessed Adrien and all her friends.

Like one of these things is interesting, narrative, and connected. The other is just abuse.

As for the Fu/Queen thing:

I misspoke about his Identity. I meant location.

The timeline is: Love Eater shows up, Mari confronts it sans Cat Noir. Her Lucky charm is: goto Fu.

On the way to Fu she sees Adrien and Kagami cozey and is distracted. Instead of her usual routine of sneak somewhere and detransform then go see Fu she just heads right to him. Thus giving him away. (Yes Mayura was following her but I feel it is safe to think a Marinette with her head in the game would slip Mayura just as part of her usual care)

Then she reaches for the Bee and think of Chloé. This also fits Ladybug's MO of having people help their family. It lines up perfectly, but then she instead grabs the dragon and we see her literally yoink Kagami away from Adrien by yo-yo (which was admittedly funny)

None of this is calling Mari a bad person, just a person. It's totally fair storytelling. It just gets bottled up with happy Fu and Always Evil Chloé instead of being addressed.

As for the Guardianship. Two points:

1)Consequences need to be contemporary in a narrative. The Narrative hit the end of the sentence with the end of the season finalé. further complications 'later' don't always track back.

2)The Good/Bad of the changeover is muddled anyway. You could argue she would have lost several episodes of S4 without being the Guardian. I don't really want to dissect that, it just isn't a good barometer.

The mega-Kuma is an example of punishment vs consequences.

Consequences would have been Marianne blaming Ladybug(justified or not) or having to admit to Chloé that even though siding with Hawkmoth was wrong, she had made mistakes too in not addressing Chloé clear misunderstanding better(as a hero)

Punishment is Hawkmoth gaining new powers, none of which were forseeable/clear products of her choices.

The discussion is interesting and all but can y’all make throwaway accounts and talk directly to each other?

GOSH THE CHEER I GAVE WHEN I SAW ALIX. OMD. YES. IT IS TIIIIIME. I love how we’ve looped back to the beginning with her appearing again, and now LB and CN both know who the real enemy is (even if Adrien doesn’t yet know who she is) it’s so cool how it’s all coming back full circle (but pls don’t kill off my sunshine boy again I know you probably are but pls)

And Kagaamiiiiiiiii, I love how resolute and matter of fact she was. Lol I got taught that in negotiable class, always just go with your strongest argument and don’t worry about proving yourself right and I think she played that to a T.

I was a bit confused when she and Nino said Felix tried to kill Nino tho. When did that happen?! I reread the chapter when he thought Felix was Adrien but there at most I thought it was take him to Monarque or let him go? I miss subtlety sometimes tbh did I miss smth here? Felix, how could u try to off ur twin’s bro??? Or did Nino misunderstand?? Idk I’m so confused and wish Kagami had explained that a bit more for both of us 😭

LOL also love seeing the new team-up of the venom fam (yes that is what I’m calling the bee sisters and snake - cuz they all have venom get it) and with Chloe getting the Mouse! I kinda wish she and Vesperia would swap their miraculous now and then tbh bc Queen Bee is always in my heart but I’m happy to just see the sisters working together, I hope Vesperia understand Chloe truly didn’t mean to hurt her

marinette is SO over all the secret identity games lol. she's just coming out of the tunnel vision of avenging chat noir's death/enslavement, and now all she wants is not to lose him again. also i had no idea that was a tactic taught in negotiation class but you know what, it makes sense! kagami's chess skills match felix's, so it seems fitting that she would make just the right move to put herself on ladybug's team.

yeah ok so felix didn't try to kill nino in chapter 31, not really 🤣 but attack, capture, kill - it all looks the same when it's coming from felix.

also, felix never bothered to explain himself 💀 so that didn't help his case at all.

the venom fam omg what a good name for them 🐍🐝🐝 they have some issues of their own they need to hash out which i am trying to stick in at an appropraite beat! so keep manifesting, your wish might just be in the works ;)

I actually really like Alix, so, here's my question: in your opinion, if she weren't to get the Rabbit, what other Miraculous would she be best suited for?

And Idk if this is cheating or not lol, but I could potentially seeing a Cat!Alix working out.

Hey, Anon, have you seen my “let’s swap ALL the season 3 Miraculouses” post? Because I totally gave Alix the Black Cat in that.

Once we actually really dig into how time travel has been depicted in Miraculous, it actually does make sense that Alix would be paired with the Rabbit version and not the Snake version. The simple rub of it is that the Rabbit is both strategic and tactical while the Snake is mainly strategic. With the Rabbit Miraculous, you can get a sneak peek into what has gone on, is going on, or can go on. This information provides the resources that are used to make calls on how to respond to those things seen and solve potential timeline problems. To counter a problem with Cat Noir's emotional state, send in Ladybug, who’s a focal point of his emotional well-being. It’s a sound strategic move, although sending in Ladybug who was blind to everything that had gone down was also a bold move. The Miraculous can also be used to create what is basically teleportation on a battlefield (as seen in ‘Time Tagger’), using different time periods as points to create a turn that delivers you to the exact time you left from, but in a different location, emphasizing tactical combat where you manipulate your own location to try to catch your opponent off guard. Meanwhile, with the Snake Miraculous you usually have a specific goal and then use time loops to learn everything you can about the factors in a given situation to come up with a specific sequence of events that leads to the conclusion you want.

So, from what we’ve seen from Alix so far, she’s strategic and tactical but bold, she can create plans with a long term conclusion in mind and she can consider the different angles of events to try to match them as they occur but she’s also bold enough to try unconventional solutions to problems. Even as she had no idea how the Cat Blanc timeline came to be, she sent in Marinette to deal with the Akuma while she checked over the sequence of events. Giving Marinette such a small part of the puzzle was the only way to make sure that nothing about the events of that episode would be relevant to the timeline, but it did delegate Marinette into merely a cog in the machine. Bunnyx is actually pretty similar to Sailor Pluto from Sailor Moon in how she deals with the timeline; she clearly cares about her friends, but she will push them away for the sake of the timeline. This is likely something she learned through having the Miraculous for a while, since her care for her friends is more blatant and passionate in episodes like 'Reverser'.

Tactical and bold yet kind, these are the traits I’ve previously stated that make Adrien the perfect Black Cat holder. Alix is a bit more cynical than Adrien, so her kindness is more hidden, but she definitely has a lot of similar attributes to the confirmed perfect Black Cat holder. She’s a very strong candidate for the Miraculous due to that. Her fighting style with her parasol can also be translated into fighting with a baton. She’s clearly comfortable with using a bludgeoning weapon and getting up close and personal with opponents in fights. Her battle style as Bunnyx also emphasizes speed, and the Black Cat Miraculous does lend itself to fast movements as well.

Based on these traits, Alix could also make use of the other close range Miraculouses, especially ones that focus on speedy takedowns. As such, I’d suggest the Tiger over the Ox, for example. Alix has a lot of the same traits as Roaar, since she’s outspoken, confident and self-assured, so she’d suit the Miraculous well. Of course this also means that there isn’t much she can learn from wielding it. One that might work out but might also be a bad fit is the Dragon. The Dragon is another Miraculous that focuses on close combat, but one that also has a selection of special powers that require planning to get the best out of, much like the Burrow technique of the Rabbit. However, Longg is normally matched with the soft-spoken and focused Kagami, so Alix’s personality might not mesh well with Longg’s.

(Mariposa AU) Mariharem x Revenge in "The Art Of Ruining A Career"

On an anonymous chat room, several teens met to discuss what to do with one rather... aggravating lying sack of manure. Lady Wifi, BoomBoxer, Queen Wasp, Vanisher, Riposte, and Chat Blanc were sick of their Lady Mariposa being attacked by this... XY... and wanted to get him to stop.

Vanisher's suggestion of making him vanish for good seemed a bit extreme, but so far it had the most traction, until Chat Blanc pointed out that Lady Mariposa wouldn't want harm to befall him.

They had to get revenge that she would approve of, or else they would risk losing their lady's favor. After all, she had asked BoomBoxer to save him.

They would ruin his career, in a way that wouldn't make her feel guilty. He was already doing half the work with his attacking a hero of Paris, the one that didn't have excessive property damage tied to her name.

Actually, she had made a deal with the city yesterday to championize a few civil engineers and construction crews to repair the city to code or better. Apparently Queen Wasp had an inside course with the mayor's office that she thought could be trusted implicitly. Lady Mariposa had even asked that the difference between the cost of labor from her champions versus the cost of having repair crews do the same be donated to specific, reputable charities.

It had been a week since the last Sentimonster, and they were trying to rebuild and regroup... especially since Chat Noir and Lady Mariposa responded to 48 monsters in two days, at one per hour.

That had to have taken a lot out of them.

So yeah... even if she was going to take the lumps, XY had picked the wrong target to mess with.

Hey Logo,

It’s been about three weeks since I was last online. At least that’s what my somehow still charged phone is telling me. As you might have guessed by the flaming skeleton who gave you the letter, it’s been an interesting three weeks. I suppose I should start at the beginning.

I will admit that I frequently get lost when traveling, but even this takes the cake. I hope that you understand that first and foremost I was really looking forward to meeting you and hanging out together for a while. At first I thought that driving through Illinois was taking a lot longer than I expected, and then the paved highway turned into dirt roads.

I had pulled over in an attempt to check the map, when I noticed a complete lack of signal on my phone. I was about to drive away when the strangest thing happened. You know that scene in Jurassic Park where the T-Rex crushes the RV? I got to live it! Only the dinosaur could fly, breathe fire, and steal my car.

I fell out of the door that had popped open, and laid on the ground as the beast flew away with my car and all my stuff.

Laying on the road, I saw many things that do not exist in our world flying overhead, and somehow knew I wasn’t in Kansas any more. After a while, I got up and decided to find my way somewhere with people that could help me get out of here. I never thought that being a scout would actually pay off. My bout of reflection had at least given me an indication of what I’m calling East to West travel of the main sun. The smaller one seems to follow it, but I want to see a model of the system before I make the call on that.

That’s probably boring to you, so I’ll fast forward through me walking through several days in the woods, sleeping in tree branches, and finding out that those pack bonding posts were serious business. I had a pack of wolves that were following me for a while, and then the leader was before me. I’m guessing that it was the leader as it spoke to me, and had a horn crown thing.

. . . I’m just realizing that I’m an idiot and that was probably a druid.

Anyways, they guided me to some water to drink, and showed me some safe to eat berries. Then they helped me get to a town, where they explained that the local wizards botched some ritual or other, and a lot of outsiders were in the area. Anyways, after eating some amazing roast pork (I like meat, and a week and a half with nothing but nuts and berries anything tasted glorious), the town guard gave me a run down of where I could shack up while they settle things, but if I wanted to do something, they could use some help.

So I’m working with the wizards to clean up their tower, and learning enough about their alchemy and magic to review his notes. Apparently pointing out that he missed carrying a 1 in the reagents is enough to qualify me.

It’s an extra 5 gold a week, and I’m doing something that isn’t sitting with my thumb up my ass. Also, I’m able to write these notes, and have access to the skeletal postal services. He is supposed to stay until you send a reply, and don’t worry about paying him. I paid for the reply and gave him a tip. I hope that my family will send me the care package of spices and soda that I asked them for.

I hope like hell they can help me get caffeine before I go out and strangle the rooster that crows at like three in the morning. Otherwise, there will be spiced chicken for dinner.

I hope that this letter finds you well, and that you are not stuck in a world of asshole dragons that steal your car, jerk roosters, and druids that like to mess with you.

I also hope that the skeleton makes my story a little more believable, and that you forgive me for missing our meet-up. I hope that I’ll have more to tell you in my next letter.

Oh, where are my manners? How are you doing? Sorry about venting like that.

Please write back, I am believing this is all a coma dream and figure that as long as I have something to look forward to I’ll survive longer.

An Incredibly In-Depth Analysis Of All 128 Love Square Ships - The Icositetragon and The Pentadecagon (Season Four Edition)

As we are all well aware by now, our two protagonists have so many identities that calling their love a ‘square’ is out the window. There have been many new varieties added since the end of season 3, when I made the first edition of this mega-meta-post. All I can say is buckle up, cause it’s going to be a wild ride! As always, I’ll always name a ship as (Marinette) / (Adrien) for simplicity.

Our Characters:

Besides our classic civilians and heroes, I’ll include Princess Justice and two forms of Chat Blanc: Alternate Timeline (AT) and Normal Timeline (NT). the Alternate will refer to the timeline only seen by Bunnyx, in which the reveal happens over the beret (including the time before Adrien was akumatized!). The Normal will refer to the timeline in which Bunnyx takes Ladybug to Chat Blanc to fix him.

Changes Since Last Edition:

In an effort to keep the Other category from getting too long, I have divided it and made the Until Proven Otherwise section. As such, every category has experienced changes. Bananoir has been removed and placed in Until Proven Otherwise. I have also decided not to include impossible ships, like Ladybug/Mister Bug, to try and keep it as short as possible.

same anon as earlier hi! something else i think is interesting is how mlb as a show views sacrifice and selfishness.

adrien agreste is incredibly selfless to harming degrees. getting killed as a hero. getting pushed around as a civilian. everything around what's best for him is decided by someone else. he has very few moments in the actual show where he's allowed to make the snap decision to be anything other than a self sacrificing doll. and this leads to harm of people other than him, too, like with how he decided to deal with lila. compared with marinette, who, time and time again has made selfish decisions that lead to harm in more direct ways.

but the thing is that neither of these traits are shown to be inherently bad by the show, which is SO fucking rare. marinette sacrifices more as a civilian, adrien sacrifices more as a hero. and they both have an excess of (respectively) selfishness and selflessness. THATS treated as wrong. its incredibly refreshing to see some kind of media that says "thinking only about yourself is wrong, but thinking only about others is wrong, too."

anyways i think a lot about the themes of balance in the show, creation and destruction are central but arent the only way that the show uses balance to compare and contrast characters and situations

do not ever be sorry for rambling i love it. and god youre so right. like adrien is so self sacrificial and doesnt seem to care abt himself as much as he should- like my man has essentially killed himself (as chat noir) in front of ladybug multiple times to save her without understanding why that might be super upsetting for her. i think part of that comes from his insecurities abt not being needed or necessary which- to be fair. the ladybug miraculous is fundamentally necessary to defeat akumas. but weve seen time and time again that she cant defeat them without chat noir. like when he was cat walker and she couldnt figure out what to do with her lucky charm bc she needed the real chat noir. and adrien gave up his miraculous bc he didnt feel it was necessary and he thought she'd work better with someone else and. agghhhh it makes me so insane. hes always compromising and sacrificing and giving things for others and like . man its just so SAD. & im hoping he'll like. figure out his self worth anf that thinking abt himself is okay actually in later seasons but with the way kids shows work hes probably like. metatextually doomed to that pattern of behaviour for at least several more seasons if not forever<3

and marinette i feel tends to do more selfish things when shes emotional and not thinking thru her actions, & then realizes her mistakes and has to fix them later, but when shes thinking thru what she does before she does it shes also very selfless (but not to the worrying extent that adrien is). like all the times where shes making insane plans to try to stop chloe/lila/kagami in the earlier seasons/whoever from talking to adrien, or when tikki has to stop her from using being ladybug for personal reasons, giving adrien the snake miraculous (and accidentally locking him in a 5 minute long time loop for months tho she couldnt have known he was fucking crazyinsane in love with her lol) when luka was the one who needed to use it, all the times shes tried to expose lila.. its all in this like. rush of emotion and when she stops to go Hey. what if i actually did not do that . shes able to realize her mistakes and fix them and learn from them (until she also is doomed to repeat this forever due to being trapped in a kids cartoon lol)

though she also does show a similar tendency to adrien when she tries to take on being guardian and handing out miraculouses etc on her own when she is FOURTEEN YEARS OLD(!!!!!!!!!) and has geometry homework to worry about. bestie . bff. girlie. u do not have to do this alone !!!!!! u literally have a partner to help u please learn to accept help u r not burdening people u r not endangering them i prommy

If you had to give Adrien and Marinette another Miraculous, which one would you pick?

anon, i am not one of those people who care if someone would be a good wielder, have a good relationship with the kwami, have the qualities needed for said miraculous... no. all i care about is narrative weight and emotional consequences and characterization. i'm going to answer from a perspective about future episodes of the show, because ultimately, if they weren't ladybug and chat noir, the show wouldn't be about them.

adrien gets the peacock miraculous. i know zagtoons would never allow this because it would make me happy, but listen. his mother used it and died from it. then his father's assistant and kind-of second mother used it, and got ill. then his father fixed it and unified it with his other miraculous for villainous purposes. his magical cousin, who got created with said miraculous, is either after his amok, or the aforementioned peacock. at this point the peacock miraculous is the family business. not letting adrien have a turn with it would be the biggest missed opportunity. it would be the most satisfying conclusion to whatever the peacock's arc is. one of adrien's big themes is family, and what better than the family heirloom?

with marinette it's a bit more tough, but ultimately i decided to give her a miraculous that brings out the worst in her, as opposed to the best in her like the ladybug one does, so snake miraculous it is. she'd be too cautious to use the rabbit, but the snake with its endless possibilities of second chances would appeal to her, and yes, i am mad at zagtoons that we don't have a desperada-like episode with marinette using the snake, over and over again, to confess to adrien, and fail at it every time, because she's, well, marinette. plus, marinette's big arc is her love life, and both luka and adrien have wielded the snake. i'd also love it if she wields a miraculous that clashes with her sense of pride or slight i-know-best attitude, but i need to see the rest of the miraculouses to settle on one.

(Wishmaker anon) Wishmaker was not what I expected but in a good way. Am I a little upset that one of the less interesting character is the first to find out LB and Chat’s indentities on screen? Yes but it was not as bad as it could have been. First because it happened by accident and neither Marinette nor Adrien choose to tell him. Second because they don’t know Luka knows! And I find that very interesting imo there is some potential there! I really hope the writers will do something with it. However I regret even more Luka’s lack of development in previous seasons. The snake holder knowing makes sense (same thing with the rabbit holder) so knowing this the writers could have given Luka more development and screentime (like they did with Kagami). Also I am very happy that the violin thing was just Luka being Luka and not a matchmaking strategy. (A propos de Luka ses métaphores musicales m’ont même pas énervées j’ai même beaucoup ri même si je doute que ce soit de l’humour volontaire 😅 -ce mec fume de la bonne c’est la seule explication logique- et pour une fois ses délires de musique intérieure apportent quelque chose). Also the jokes were amazing this episode and Alec looks so good as Wishmaker. I was expecting more Lovesquare moments but what we had was good. And everything related to Adrien (and Plagg ❤) was great. Sorry this ask is way too long but there is a lot to say about this episode 😅. (Au fait c’était moi l’ask en français à 2h 😅 je savais pas du tout pour le doubleur anglais de Luka ça craint ce genre d’attitude... et j’espère vraiment que Gloob balancera plus de gros spoil comme ça 🤡).

Yeah honestly I wasn't too upset at the end (at least less than I expected), I'm more like "ok whatever, now how is this going to play in the current conflict" and my opinion of it will really change depending how they decide to go with it. If Luka's there to play therapist, once again I will just find that boring at best and badly written at worst.

I'm glad it was an accident too and I'm SO glad Luka didn't tell them, I don't even want to judge him or anything on that cause him not saying will make him knowing more interesting anyway so small mercies!

But yeah same I just think the lack of development this character has had or the way his writing has always been wonky and contradictory imo makes me.. hmmm how will this evolve.

Also LOL "Luka being Luka" true that, the thing is I just. can't help but burst out laughing and cringe hard every time he goes around with his music metaphors and like.. the violin scene with Alec and all I'm sorry but I just cannot take that seriously. And the fact that the show doesn't treat it as a gag has me looooosing it, the guy is a walking meme but we're not supposed to laugh. At least the moment where they talk about what they want with him sitting in the middle had him saying interesting things (even though as a non-touchy person I had a fly or fight reaction at the close proximity ajhsjhd), what I still won't get is that Luka just doesn't know Adrien at all (and can I say he knows Marinette much Idk) yet he supposedly knows him better than Plagg so that was ??? ok, I suppose it was just for the writers to get their message accross 😅

I'm glad the lovesquare moments weren't romantic as I think we're at a stage where friendship development is much more important, but I'm still a but bumped out that Ladybug didn't get to hear Chat Noir's "childhood dream" or take him seriously when he said he couldn't remember it because this is something important for Marinette to know about Adrien for the lovesquare to properly develop. Hopefully the conflict will rip these kind of things out!

But yeah overall a great episode in terms of jokes, designs, angst and development for Adrien and Marinette a little, good Plagg/Adrien bounding moment 🥺, but still unconvinced about Luka's role as the "guy who knows better", and not pronouncing myself yet on what I'll think of him knowing depending the kind of development it has. As of now I'd rather him not knowing obviously but well, what's done's done so convince me haha

In my magical girl story, the heroine does get put in a magical coma and require someone to bail her out, but it's her female friends AND her boyfriend who save her, so it's not just a girl being weakened so a boy can be powerful, especially since said boy actually does a minority of the work required to save her; the focus is on the female characters so it's her girl friends who do most of it. I still ended up scrapping that side plot anyway, and do you know why? Because regardless of who saved her, I still didn't want my female protagonist to be put in distress at all due to the unfortunate implications! Needing help in a fight? Sure. But outright being captured or kidnapped? Nah fam.

I was honestly thinking about that when the first episode came out. Like, they could’ve just had Marinette NOT SHOW UP in time so the guys take care of things, which at least gives more of a message that Paris wouldn’t go to hell just because Ladybug is a little late or something.

And yeah, the “boys squad episode so gotta toss the girl out” is... sigh.

Appreciate the comment, but I find it hard to ship other Marinette ships outside of Lukanette. Ivanette is a very loose exception and it’s not like I ship it hard or anything.

Yeah, the problem I take with Bunnyx’s is that it’s a bodysuit. If there was just more definition, like having actual boots, I wouldn’t complain as much.

I think so. The whole special comes off as trying to reassure love square shippers because of how hard it goes for him. I cut out Marinette’s crushing and it cuts like 18% from the episode, meaning it’s even worse than Season 3 (15%).

I especially miss reactions from and interactions with Juleka. She is Luka’s sister, Marinette’s friend, and IIRC someone aware of if not even a bit player in the great shipping game. She is in a prime position to step up and bring progress on all fronts: She can talk with Luka. She can either give Marinette helpful pointers or go “All in or nothing”, i.e. trying to make Marinette get her Adrien-feelings in order as she does not want her brother to get less than Marinette’s full heart. Similarly, she can counteract “friendly acts” and stop humiliating situations from escalating, or she herself can escalate them in the “All or Nothing”-scenario. Yet she remains basically a background character who gets little attention from the camera and almost no “non-focus identity”

As for Kagami, I may be too biased. *Any* positive Kagami/Marinette relationship is to me what Lukanette is to you. So naturally I have lots of opinions when it comes to her role ;) But can I just say that Adrien/Kagami is the weirdest ship for me? They have a few cute scenes and I think if they’d spend a lot more time together, they’d do each other good but I don’t know how they work. “No Hesitation” Kagami would lob Adrien’s head straight off with all his…everything. If we are meant to take Adrien’s love for LB seriously (and I guess we have to because how in the name of sanity is any form of the stated endgame gonna work otherwise???), how does Kagami fit into that picture as a girl who can hardly express emotions while Adrien is the definition of a guy who can not stop flirting or goes for all kinds of romantic gestures? Sometimes it feels more like a “social fit” and “Mommy/Daddy approves” kind of deal which is quite the shame! Normally I like these kind of relationships in fictions but they need a solid underlining or good development. One they haven’t and one the series has not been giving to anyone so far.

Yeah, the whole thing with the love square versus side ships ends up feeling extremely forced. Keeping Luka away and forcing Adrien into Lukanette episode are the biggest giveaways, basically a big fat sign that says, “We know Marinette would forget that Adrien exists if she hung around Luka for more than five minutes.”

AND YEAH, KAGAMI WOULDN’T PUT UP WITH ADRIEN’S GARBAGE. I liked Adrimi but it’s definitely more flawed than Lukanette.

I agree, yes. They could’ve easily thrown Luka/Kagami into the mix (or had Marinette/Adrien stay behind while flipping perspectives or something; flawed but they could make it work).

But I have no sympathy for bully characters, so I didn’t want Chloe redeemed. Maybe I’m still bitter about my own bullying experience, but I just wasn’t here for Marinette being forced to forgive Chloe, which is basically what they did until they backpedaled.

The time spent on her was wasted though and that I can agree on.

Plus the show loves to treat all the girls as the same, making them all either fight over Adrien or be obsessed with shipping, as if teenage girls are all one assimilating, homogenized group(also when they treat Marinette as if she's "just as bad as Chloe", rinse and repeat for the other ladies.). Honestly, the show feels like it was written by those types of people who think "teenage girls are the worst" so they make them all mood-swingy, obsessive, showoffs, emotional, and downright clingy.

Plus the way Thomas Astruc talks about the female characters on Twitter is even worse, and only serves to make this more evident: he claims Marinette "has poor control over her emotions"(all the while calling Adrien "perfect"), that Chloe was racist in Kung Food "because she's stupid"(so rather than having that scene serve as a lesson on respecting other's cultures, he just did it to pick on Chloe and make her look "stupid"), that she's incapable of being redeemed, that Lila's unlikable but Gabriel and Felix aren't(even though he claimed Felix was a terrible character and a "cliche", that's not what the show says my guy), and other such nonsense.

Other Twitter users have also called out Miraculous Ladybug and its stereotypical treatment of teenage girls. The only shows I've ever seen do this worse are those pretentious "darker" Magical Girl "deconstructions" aimed at grown men such as Madoka Magica and Yuki Yuna, as well as most shonen/seinen shows such as Naruto and Death Note, which says a lot. Honestly, whenever I feel like watching a show with empowering and respectful depictions of teenage girls that treats them as bright and intelligent and actually unique from one another, I just watch Equestria Girls, Liv and Maddie, LoliRock, ANT Farm, Moesha, PreCure, or Sailor Moon. Because the way the show acts towards them is deplorable, absolutely deplorable.

Yes to all of the above. Almost all of the girls are involved in love affairs in some way, the two teenage girls are irredeemable while Felix got a sympathetic backstory right away (Chloe took forever to get hers which is a failure), and Marinette is flawed because she’s “too emotional” (a misogynistic stereotype).

Come to think of it, the reason Chat took Marinette to the rooftop...I know he was doing it in-universe to help her instead of intruding on her personal feelings(which might have also been why he didn't ask her who her crush was, he was probably thinking along the lines of "we don't have to talk about it right now, we can just have fun!"), but meta-wise, since we know she's Ladybug, the writers were probably trying to tell her "See? This is what you could've been doing, but you missed it. Shame on you!" That's a huge issue I have with the show: characters will do things in-universe to help Marinette, but the show has a different motive in mind. Compare to how Tikki gave actual advice to Marinette in Puppeteer 2, but the writers intended that for the statue scene so they could embarrass her in front of Adrien and the thousands of eyes watching the show(except we're not laughing.). Even if characters do support her, the writer is using them as props for her ritualized humiliation. And yet Luka is the problem somehow.

If Marinette needs to learn how to love Chat Noir, then it should at least be balanced out by Adrien learning to Marinette. I'm sick of this double standard that "girls need to learn to accept boys who like them but guys can do what they want". Another thing she said was that "Marinette needs to learn to define herself outside of who she's crushing on." NOPE. NOPE. NOPE. You see, unlike Adrien, Marinette HAS a life outside of who she's crushing on: she has school, she has Kitty Section, she has her "girl squad", she has her parents, she has her outside family, she babysits Alya's and Nino's siblings, and she has OH YEAH HER FASHION DESIGNING! I didn't even count being a superhero since Adrien does that, too. She has so many things to do outside of Adrien, and yet the fact that she makes gifts for Adrien or dreams about Adrien or wants to have kids with Adrien somehow makes her nothing but an "Adrien fangirl"?

First of all, she's the bloody protagonist?! That's such a "Real Women Don't Wear Dresses" argument, that she can't have her own life AND be in love at the same time! And somehow her crushing on Luka also means her life revolves around him, too! But Adrien's life doesn't revolve around Ladybug even though he doesn't really have anything going for him in his ordinary life? Outside of being rich, hot, white, and male, that is? What are his interests and hobbies, besides what Gabriel lets him do to pass the time? He doesn't even like modeling! And the Agreste plot is more about Gabriel, Emilie, and Nathalie than it is about him.

And what about his friendship with Nino? He didn't even care that Nino was getting strung along by Lila with the others! What about his friendship with Chloe that also waxes and wanes? Granted, Chloe's not a GOOD person, which that lady acknowledged, but she at least tried to change and has more development than him, the writers just won't let her change. I hate when people come for Marinette for doing literally anything when the show won't let her have agency and progress. It's so unfair of her and I wish they could see that. These double standards are driving me insane and they're sexist(maybe even a little bit racist, too), and it hurts even more when a woman's doing those things.

I FEEL THE “GLACIATOR” THING SO BAD. It hurts even worse when you realize that “Frozer” has to take place after “Glaciator,” so Chat Noir heard that Marinette has love problems and then ignored it to ask her for advice about his own love problems later on. The total lack of insensitivity???

Also, the idea that Marinette’s life would revolve around her crush on Luka is stupid. It’s the exact opposite, in fact.

Meanwhile, Adrien has so little going for him and the “interesting” parts of him involve who he’s connected to or what his father has forced him into.

Felix is also my guilty fave 😂😂😂 it used to be Adrien because I related to him so much, but the duality of Felix (he’s a smug snake who’s a momma’s boy who backstabbed the heroes who mourned over senti lives who is keeping mum about a terrorist who is the father of his cousin who he treated terribly who he loves dearly just akdhdkejdjrj) makes him so compelling.

Also, in a weird way I kind of admire his nerve. Like. It was a terrible, horrible thing to do (though in all fairness I don’t think he fully understood the consequences so you can debate how much his intentions weigh on in the morality of the action) but at the same time I’m a little impress how he was willing to make everyone his enemy to do what he thought was right (even if it was very, very wrong).

YES felix is SO compelling!! you can tell he has a heart you just can't tell where it is and how far it extends. i'm right there with you on him not understanding the full extent of the morality of betraying ladybug. from his perspective she and chat noir have just been killing sentis willy nilly and taking the peacock from her and gabe was what he needed to do to stop that.

i also find it interesting that it was a decision of opportunity! seeing emilie changed something about his plan...i just don't know what. but if we know anything about felix, we know anything he does is ambiguous. a guilty pleasure character indeed. say it loud and proud anon!!

No shade. Luka could be better with another miraculous but he is no Adrien when it comes to the cat miraculous.

I wouldn't say make a fool of himself, but I just think with his personality and his style of handling things does not balance well with Ladybug. Thats why he is good with the snake miraculous, cause he can observe.

The cat needs to be someone that acts first and is ready to go. There is a need for balance in that regard.

Honestly I am fed up of people bashing Aspik's design. The egg joke is not even funny at this point. I think I understand why he covered his hair though: Maybe he didn't want people to recognise him as Chat Noir? But really, he looks really adorable and I am pissed off with people ridiculing him.

i do think that there's a lot of hate on aspik's design (it's up there with the most hated costume designs in the show). personally, i think he's pretty adorable and the bald cap makes him actually seem more snake-like (in addition to the snake eyes as well).

i think most of the time, the egg and baldrien jokes are in good fun. but alas, fair anon, i agree that the rest of the ml community should open their eyes to the truth: aspik is cool as hell

also yes, i definitely think that's what they were going for with the bald cap, because the same hairstyle could possibly stir suspicion in lb, even with the magic that's supposed to disguise them.

as to why snake noir didn't have hair—i don't know. i feel like snake noir's design is much closer to aspik's in silhouette, and therefore puts him in danger of being recognized as aspik. 🤷‍♀️
