it lowkey pisses me off when people say Snow hates Katniss just because she reminds him of Lucy Gray

cause like.. no. he hates her because everything she does is a painful reminder that he had a choice.

when she pulled out those berries, he hated that she would rather die with Peeta than leave him behind for a life of glory and wealth.

whilst he was prepared to kill Lucy Gray for the same result.

when she volunteered in her sisters place at the reaping, he hated that she would rather die than leave her sister behind.

because he’d never do the same for Tigris, even though he arguably “owed” Tigris more than Katniss did Primrose.

when she stepped in to stop commander Thread during Gale’s whipping, he hated that she would rather put herself in the crossfire than let him die.

because he had every opportunity to, but he would never do the same for Sejanus. instead he sent him to his grave.

throughout the entire book Snow keeps choosing money and power over love, and throughout the entire book he tries to gaslight himself into thinking he didn’t have a choice.

Katniss’s actions to some extent forced him to confront his own choices. they forced him to realise that if he hadn’t acted the way he did, he could’ve still had the people he loved by his side.

then there’s the obvious thing with her you know, making the gamemakers and the regime look stupid and well, becoming the unwilling symbol of a rebellion but shh

Bc I've been seeing SO MUCH about Sejanus, I'm writing a one-shot 🫡

Sweet Princess

Sejanus knew something had to be wrong when she didn't come to class. Had he done something wrong and have no idea? He didn't know, so he bought her favorite flowers and snacks before making his way to her mansion. The whole way, he was practicing over and over different apologies.

When the door opened to reveal her, he immediately hugged her tightly, tripping over his words as his apologized.

"Wait, wait, wait- Sej, what are you sorry for? You didn't do anything," She questioned, hugging him tightly and brushing his curls from his eyes.

"I didnt-? But you didn't come to school- I thought I pissed you off." Y/n laughed softly, bringing him inside and gently taking the bouquet of flowers from him.

"No, hon', you didn't do anything. I've been helping my family all day," She reassured, kissing his cheek as he followed her inside the mansion to put the snacks away. "My dad had an emergency meeting this morning, and mom needed my help."

"Ohhh," He replied, visibly relieved. He set the bag of snacks onto the counter as she put the flowers in a vase. "Well, hey, now you have new flowers and snacks!"

Y/N giggled, pulling him into her arms as he hugged back, kissing her forehead. "Yes, I do, and my favorite person."

OOOH OOOOH OOOOH OK OK SO.

Here's the weirdest bug I've ever heard of, AND seen for this one: The snake fly!

Well, it's not the weirdest I've known of, but it's the weirdest I've known anything about, and seen in real life.

Unfortunately, the only time I've seen one was dead in a spider's web. It was still amazing to get to see one in person, though!

Wow, that looks like a scary stringer on the end of its abdomen, you may say. But no, that is actually an ovipositor, a completely harmless organ found in female insects that is used to lay eggs. It does make them look fairly menacing, though!

Another detail you may have found bizzare about this insect is it's elongated 'snake-like' neck. I couldn't find any source that detailed what they use them for, but I assume it's an adaptation that has allowed them to more effectively eat the insects they prey upon.

Speaking of which, they are actually INCREDIBLY beneficial insects! They predators of aphids and mites, which, as you may know, are typically not very good for human society.

Say thank you to the Snake fly, one of nature's most elegant forms of pest control!

hello i just finished reading the entire arc of a scythe series in less than a week holy fuck i am experiencing whiplash from the ending of the toll and thunderhead. i don't have words but omg tbh they're pretty good endings for both books, woah. and the ending of the toll!! imo that might just be the best possible ending for the series, woahhh
