"Yes, my sweetpea?"

"What the everloving fuck are you reading?"

Aziraphale looked up from his copy of 'Snake Care and Handling'. "I spotted this book in the veterinary section of the library! I thought it would be just the ticket for me to learn how to look after you better," he beamed.

"For Satan's sake, I spend a few months in snake form at the beginning of the world and it's all anyone can talk about for the rest of time! Serpent this, serpent that, I've been in human form a million times as long but no one goes on about how human I am, do they?"

"Well, you do rather lean in to it, my dear. What with the snake tattoo and snake belt and snakeskin shoes and-"

"Aziraphrale! I can't believe I'm hearing this! This is blatant snexism!" Crowley hissed. He turned and stalked out of the bookshop with what Aziraphrale couldn't help thinking was a particularly serpentine wiggle.

Crowley: How come you’ve been alive for so long yet never pet a snake at the Zoo?!

Crowley *pouting* *changes into a snake*

Aziraphale: *lets out a high pitched scream he will never admit to as Crowley appears around his shoulders* Oh. *he automatically grabs him so he doesn’t fall off* Wow you’re soft. *he giggles when the snake’s tongue tickles his cheek and Aziraphale pets him under his chin* And warm. This is amazing. And you have fangs! *presses his finger against one and Crowley chomps on his finger* Ow! Alright, alright. *he shakes his finger free and the snake lets go after a second* You’re beautiful *Aziraphale grins and he can swear the snake blushes. Well. Gets warmer around him.*

DRAMA!CROWLEY, ACTIVATE!

So we meet here again, in front of another flaming-as-anything-ginger Crowley. We can't keep doing this, you know. People will talk.

More info and hi res under the jumpppppppppppp.

I wanted to try my hand at a standalone portrait of Crowley before I jump back into what will inevitably be another Aziracrow portrait---I'm thinking 1920s theme. Flapper Crowley & Aziraphale? But that's for another time.

I wanted to try grey scale under-painting in digital art. A success, I hope? I'm pretty happy with the portrait (for now, give it a week and I'll hate everything about this painting, happens every time!)

I struggled a bit on the eyes in this piece. I normally paint straight color to canvas, so I have a method to my madness with painting eyes. Not so, here! This was new territory. I'm not 100% satisfied, but that just means I need more practice.

ALSO, GOLGOTHA HAIR WITH A BRAID WHAT WHAAAAAT

And because I learned how to paint snake scales for the last portrait, I decide to reprise that theme and torture myself again keep practicing them, this time with iridescence. I wanted to keep the scales low-key, though, almost as if they're just emerging or maybe the viewer caught a momentary glimpse of scales through the veil to an ethereal occult plane. Additionally, I wanted some good creepy claw hands with long fingernails (big fan of creepy, me) for a proper demonic manicure.

About: All digital, all Photoshop. Orig. 7200 x 5400 px. ~1 week of off-and-on painting. Title is taken from Reptile by Nine Inch Nails because I guess I'm still naming art after 30 year old albums? Is this a thing I do, now?

...and if so, can you imagine what I'll have to draw to use lyrics from Hurt in the title?

Oh, she did ask me a few things about the AU that I figured I'd share here:

Crowley and Aziraphale's "true" forms are of a Bird and Snake. Heaven and Hell are represented similarly (Heaven mostly by birds, and Hell by whatever animal motif they naturally have).

Humans still exist in the AU. Everything is essentially the same as in the show besides Angels and Demons having different forms.

When not hiding themselves, Angels and Demons are cloaked in a kind of glamour that makes them appear humanoid to anyone they are interacting with. Any oddities in the interaction are naturally filled in by the human brain, though it can get a little weird on what they remember.

They can shift to a humanoid form if they need to (some things are just easier with hands), though Aziraphale favors his Bird form when in his Bookshop.

Crowley spends more time in human form than Aziraphale. Azi tends to only do it when necessary or when leaving the shop.

Please tell me Aziraphale was the first Angel in existence to boop the snoot of a snake. I need this to be true. Just one day in the Garden of Eden, he encountered Crowley in his snake form and just kneels down and boops his nose, leaving a confused snek Crowley as he proceeds to walk away.

Supporting Evidence:

Aziraphale mimicked booping his nose discreetly during a sleight of hand trick in S1.
