At the event, there were many loyal customers and crime lovers who were here to see us because their booksellers said we fantasy creatures were good, and they trusted their local, and were an extremely engaged audience. I never forgot that, and I’m excited they’re with me on my villain’s journey. Into the book, and having the best fun and best lines and the worst fate along with the villains. Murder by the Book indeed. Also, my protagonist (can’t call her the heroine, that’s someone else) has a pet snake. Every evil accessory! Come meet the snek.

It’s a Loki snek!!

This is the first of four skirt panels for this concept Loki! I snagged some of the designs that I created in one of my Loki art pieces and altered them to fit this tooled border. Then I scaled them up, transferred to leather, and did the cutting the bevelling and a bit of background texture.

This is my first really intricate tooling project and I’m super pleased with how it’s coming along! I’m always learning, but I’m miles more comfortable with the tools now than when I first started. And of course I made this harder for myself by working on VERY thin leather—this is 3-4oz veg tan, because I wanted the flexibility for the skirt especially, but it means there’s a lot less depth to work with. 😅
