I find it incredible how some Erwin stans can't really see Hanji having anything.
Guidebooks clearly stating that Hanji has an outstanding intelligence (11/10), Levi telling in the smartpass Hanji has a really sharp mind, both Levi and Erwin and Moblit praising Hanji's brain abilities left and right in other smartpasses and snk exhibitions, but you guys really have to diminish it, and gatekeep even this from Hanji.
You really are clowns.

Where do the veterans mock erwin for his grooming habits? So he's a personal hygiene freak while levi is a clean freak? This shows that they complete each other!
Most of these interactions come from the  Shingeki no Kyojin Tactics online game. You can find most of the receipts here: Erwin's grooming habits.
Tumblr media
There's no doubt that Erwin takes his personal hygiene very seriously and with Levi's obsession with cleanliness, they really do complement each other. This reminds me of the SnK Outside guidebook "interview" where Levi won't allow the interviewer to enter Erwin's office because they're too dirty.
The interviewer comes to interview Erwin but Levi doesn’t allow him to enter the room because the interviewer is very dirty (I’m quite sure that he(I don’t know the sex of interviewer so I assume he’s male.) isn’t that dirty but Levi’s standard is too high lol). Levi orders him to wait outside -“This’s a very important rule if you want to talk to Erwin.”

Some ending defender idiots hate Historia so much they seriously try to say that Eren just manipulated/coerced her to get pregnant. Do these people realize they are saying Eren would support r*pe culture? Nowhere in the manga or even guidebook it’s said Eren did that. People just pulled this out of their ass because they hate Historia so much due to shipping bs. And they hate her so much that they’d rather have Eren be r*pey rather than him genuinely caring about Historia.
I don’t want to get into shipping discourse in snk, but Isayama wrote Eren show concern for Historia’s safety 4 times after the basement. The only times he smiled after basement was when 1) he saw her again 2) he saw Historia was happy. Hange even noticed that and brought up Historia later to get under Eren’s skin. What’s the point of that if she’s just a thot that Eren is ready to throw into trash because she’s just that irrelevant lol. She’s definitely a dear friend to her.
When Historia said “You protected me then, that’s enough for me” as a way to tell Eren she is fine with being sacrificed, Eren responded “maybe it’s enough for you, but not for me. --- I won’t let them”. Who says that to someone they don’t care about?
How about you people just focus arguing what ship has romantic feelings instead of degrading the characters and relationships just because you hate a character?

Hajime Isayama: “But to Levi, Erwin is the person who once said to him, “let’s save humanity together”.” — Isayama on the Shingeki no Kyojin ANSWERS Guidebook, 2016
“Levi put his absolute trust in Erwin, making use of his power to serve his Commander. Erwin for him is a person whom he considers his "chosen one". — Levi's profile from the Attack on Titan Character Encyclopedia/Guidebook 2017
“For Levi, that person is Erwin, whose existence exceeds that of Levi’s own. But is it acknowledgement as much as it’s due to the Ackerman bloodline? I would say it’s probably instinctual.”
Isayama – “He is currently like a balloon dangling in the air rather aimlessly. To Levi, staying with Erwin until Erwin’s last minute gave him a feeling that he has accomplished everything he needs to. Of course, I think he still has the goal of killing the Beast Titan.”
Ono Daisuke – ' I think Levi was always the last stronghold of Erwin’s humanity. '
Kamiya Hiroshi – ' But for Levi, up until that point, even if he failed, even if his life was lost, as long as Erwin was still living, it’d be okay.
"Because of the relationship between Erwin and Levi, if Erwin has already decided on something, then Levi thinks that it is the right thing to do. In other words, Levi prioritizes it [Erwin’s orders] more than his own safety or the safety of his subordinates." — Kamiya Hiroshi
“For Levi, of course, losing Commander Erwin left a huge impact in his life. From that point onwards, his life in a sense is like a 'yosei'.” — Kamiya Hiroshi in the 2021 Anime Japan panel
Tumblr media
“To Levi, no matter what outsiders say about the thing between him and Erwin, he never cares and plans to explain it. He thinks that even explaining it, no one can understand.” — Tetsurô Araki
I choose the guy whom I want to put my faith in. Erwin is like that, too. No one knows what he is really thinking deep down. But I trust his judgement...That’s why I chose to follow him...Even if I am led into hell, I have no regrets. Not one bit. — Levi Monologue, Character Song
“I will put my trust in [Levi's] strength for as long as we fight, and I am sure that he will continue to fight the titans while believing in me in return.” — Erwin's assessment of Levi, Attack on Titan Guidebook: INSIDE & OUTSIDE
Goodnight. Sweet dreams, dear. Act II: Levi : Takes place after Erwin’s death and Levi is so depressed that he even loses “the mood to sigh” and “also loses the will to curse at them (after Hange makes a joke about stealing his tea)” He goes to his room and he dreams of Erwin’s voice. Despite knowing it’s a “delusion”, “he (Levi) lends his ear to the words, is it because Levi wants to believe something of it too?” And Levi also imagines the sea would be the same color as Erwin’s eyes were.
Crumbled Castle Gate : Erwin is alone on the wall above a crumbled castle gate, and is upset. Levi comes looking for him and they share an intimate talk, constantly stealing glances at each other. While Levi was peering at Erwin’s expression from the side of his eyes, he comments on his eyes and Erwin laughs softly and asks him “so you are saying that I look quite young because I have the same eyes as a young new soldier?” At the end of the story, this is the interaction described between them: “Finally, Erwin looks away from the outside scenery and looks at Levi’s face. Levi tilts his face up, looking up to the taller man.”
“Carrying his promise to Erwin in his heart, Levi launches a decisive counterattack against Zeke, the Beast Titan.” — Levi’s profile in the 2021 “Attack on Titan Character Encyclopedia FINAL
“Levi doesn’t allow anyone to get at his heart except Erwin who is the only one he completely trusts.” — Attack on Titan: OUTSIDE Osamu, 2013
“Levi trust this man more than anybody else” — Erwin’s profile from SnK OUTSIDE Osamu
Animedia : "Many were touched by the depth of Levi's love for Erwin" (そんなリヴァイのエルヴィンに対する愛情の深さは感動を呼び、) The kanji used to refer to Levi's love was "愛情", which is the kanji used to refer to romantic love between partners.
“If it’s with you, I can do it!” “His one and only partner, he faces the titans with Erwin’s feelings in his heart”

Ugh of course haters would say that, they are trying to make him responsible for every single thing that happened.
I find it interesting how well was he able to read Eren as a person (or any other person really) right from the start; even more so now when we know what the ending is.
In ep 19 when they’re fleeing from female titan and Eren wants to turn into his titan form; he, Levi, has this inner monologue (or was he saying it to his squad???)
“It’s clear to me. He’s a true monster. And not because of his titan abilities. No matter how you try to hold him down… No matter what cage you lock him up in… forcing his mind into submission is an impossible task”
while remembering Eren’s reaction when he asked him what his goal was / what he wants to do and Eren answered “I want to join the SC and kill some titans” with the most twisted expression on his face.
Same thing is mentioned in the visual novel, in that part where Levi shares a cup of tea with Petra; yes that part which some people love to use as a proof that he had a secret relationship with her, Others make it about Eren / Levi ship (because everything has to be about ships at least according to some people),
but in reality it’s neither of those. They talked about Eren. He asked her how’s he doing, how’s he adjusting to the squad, etc. Out of Levi’s squad she was the one who spent the most time with Eren, she was the closest to him (it’s mentioned in SnK guidebook if I remember correctly); of course it makes sense to ask her for her opinion. As we know Levi valued his squad’s opinions.
here is a quote from the visual novel: “…they cannot change Eren’s true nature. A perpetual monster. It’s not because of his titan powers but his soul itself is a monster. No matter what we do, we will not be able to subdue it”
He wasn’t asking about him because he’s in love with him, he asked about him because he was responsible for him. Levi volunteered to watch over him / keep an eye on him. He took the responsibility because he was the only one who could actually kill him if he got out of hand. Eren had no control over his titan powers back then.
Anyone who actually read the manga / watched the anime should be able to see why SC fought so hard to get Eren in their ranks. It was because they believed he can actually help them beat the titans. They believed he’s fighting for the salvation of the humanity as you have mentioned.
None of this this suggest that Levi actually knew Eren would do what he eventually did. Levi is many things but he isn’t psychic, lol, he’s just a good judge of character. His ability to read people so accurately is one of the reasons why Erwin trusted him and valued his opinion so much.
At least that’s how I see it… there’s more things I probably should have mentioned but this is already getting way too long 😅
Gotta love Levi seeing right through Jaeger brothers bullshit™️
Definitely, Levi's ability to peg Eren was pretty amazing. Nobody else seemed aware of just what Eren was (including the readers). This monster of will, this person who would struggle and strain against any sort of restraint or cage one tried to place him in. Of course, for the SC, that would be considered a huge boon to their cause, someone able to turn into a titan and who's personality was indomitable. I think Levi's great insight into people comes from his compassion. He's able to see things from other people's perspectives, to genuinely look at things from another's point of view. That's really a rare gift. So he knows when someone is good, and when someone is bad. He had Eren down cold. He could see he was a monster from the start, not because of his ability to turn into a titan, but because of his refusal to yield to anything, no matter what. Of course Levi couldn't have known what that would mean, or what Eren's ultimate goal would be. At the time, all he knew was that Eren was on their side and that his strength was needed to win the struggle against titans.
And absolutely, his ability to see through to who people really are is a big part of why Erwin trusted in him so explicitly. I think Erwin even mentions in one of those side stories that Levi understands people's true natures better than anyone else. It's also part of why I think Erwin trusted Levi with his own, secret motivation, in the end. Maybe he thought, if I tell this to Levi, and Levi still believes in me, maybe that means I'm not irredeemable. And of course, in the end, Levi did still believe in Erwin. I think Levi saw the goodness in Erwin even when Erwin could no longer see it in himself.

Do you know where was the Ackerbond mentioned for the first time? I don't remember reading anything about it in the Current Publicly Available Information in the anime or manga. Was it in some guidebook?
Yeah, i think it was in the first snk guidebook, but i don't think Yams talked about "a magical blood pact" an Ackerman forms with one single person. He just compared their relationship to a person they choose to follow as a knight and their liege and said it's because of their nature.
Seems like only shippers and people who genuinely can't read saw it as "When ackermans see a person they deem bigger than themselves they fall in love with them". Lmao

Pretty please make your Marvel and RK crossover idea a reality with an HC when you have the time. PLEEEEEASE 🖤
Thank you for the Ask. Sorry for the delayed answer but I hope this fits!🧩🧩🧩
CW: Some spoilers ahead if you're yet to view the following series.
ReiKasa x Marvel Cinematic Universe Crossover Headcanon #023
Tumblr media
Reiner and Mikasa both are very profound in terms of their raw strength and savior energies. In cross fandom universes, they would be the ultimate superhero couple. Well, Reiner very possibly would begin as an anti-hero from Marley who would eventually discover an initial kindred spirit type of camaraderie before it develops into an intense battle synergy & palpable chemistry with the all-Eldian super heroine, Mikasa Ackerman. From two opposing forces, Reiner and Mikasa would somehow find their stars aligned in the cosmos that would bind them together as each other's ride or die. With that in mind, these 3 pairings from the Marvel Cinematic Universe would best be embodied by ReiKasa in their own special ways.
1) Thor & Mighty Thor (Jane Foster)
Tumblr media
Apart from sharing similar physique - buff and sturdy body frame and roguish facial shape and hair, Reiner embraces Thor's honor, pride and an almost fallen out of grace moment in his life as he goes through a period of lost and searching for himself. Thor finds himself allying with the Guardians of the Galaxy in order to save the remaining humanity from Thanos (which more or less had an almost similar ideal as SnK's big bad, Eren Jeager), same as what Reiner did in SnK's final arc when he allied with the surviving elite members of the Survey Corps.
Meanwhile, Mikasa would embody the Mighty Thor's relentless fight for the greater good even if she knows that by doing so, she would be sacrificing the most important part of herself all for humanity. This resonated so well in SnK's canonverse. Mikasa has a steely resolve to save humanity at all costs, the same way Jane Foster did as the Mighty Thor. If Mjolnir had chosen Jane as the one worthy enough to wield it, the Founder Ymir had chosen Mikasa to be the one who eventually eliminates the Titan curse & liberates her from her 2,000 years worth of inter-dimensional self-imposed imprisonment.
Traits: The couples shares resilience, bravery and impeccable teamwork.
And just imagine, Thor!Reiner holding Stormbreaker standing back to back with MightyThor!Mikasa wielding Mjolnir as the God & Goddess of Thunder?
💯 Fresh & Epic!
2) Iron Fist (Danny Rand) & Colleen Wing
Tumblr media
Dubbed as the daughter of the Dragon, Colleen Wing is a martial artist and instructor. Similar to Mikasa, who's of Japanese blood (Hizuru in SnK), both are exceptional blade wielders and hardened fighters. Where Colleen used Chi manipulation, Mikasa was blessed with awakened Ackerman powers that blessed them both with superhuman strength. Both bear a strong character based on discipline, and both prefer to fight their own battles rather than have someone else do the job for them. Mikasa & Colleen uphold a specific code of conduct - loyalty, courage, veracity, compassion, and honor above all else.
Meanwhile, Reiner and Danny, were both blessed with amazing powers from a mythical legend. Both were forced to survive through a rough childhood and intense systematic training as children. Danny inherited the power of the Iron Fist through the heart of K'un-Lun's mythical beast, Shun-Lao the Undying while Reiner inherited the power of the Armored Titan through his predecessor.
Traits: The couples are very in-sync in battles with complementing styles & moves. And yes, exceptional tag team energy.
3) Moon Knight (Marc Spector/Steven Grant) & Scarlet Scarab (Layla El-Faouly)
Tumblr media
Marc Spector (Moon Knight) is a character which is well known for his DID, whereas he has 3 identities/alters which draw similarities to Reiner's duality in the series (despite SnK's guidebook stating that it's fictional 'schizophrenia'), where it was shown that Reiner dissociated heavily that he had two sides - Warrior and Soldier. It may not necessarily be a different consciousness but it involved something as equally complex. Both Marc and Reiner's psyche began to split due to a traumatic incident when they were younger and both are/were in military. Where Marc Spector (one of the alters) was chosen as an avatar by the Egyptian Moon God, Khonshu, Reiner was chosen to wield the Armored, one of the Nine Titans in his universe.
Layla is Marc's (& Stephen) wife who works together with her husband to stop a villain & an ancient deity from unleashing judgment & destruction upon humanity, very similar to Reiner, Mikasa and the Alliance's combined efforts to stop Eren Jeager's the Rumbling through the ancient Founder's will. Layla, (spoiler alert!), is also a chosen avatar by one of the Egyptian Goddess, granting her many abilities including superhuman strength, agility, durability, stamina and reflexes, which are similar to Mikasa's Awakened Ackerman powers.
Traits: The couples have distintinctive battle prowess and deeply care about the other. Despite the challenges and separation, they persevered to protect mankind through the powers that were bestowed upon them.

It's a bit shorter than usual but thanks again for the fun Ask! 💕💯

— age ( & general discussion on timelines )
Tumblr media
First, I feel it's necessary to clear this out: Levi doesn't remember what his age is. He stopped counting his birthdays when he was a kid and his mother got sick, and having no memory of his birth year ( and where no such thing as birth certificates exist ), he can't tell exactly how old he is. After all, he expected to die young.
Now, there's a mystery surrounding Levi's exact age in the works, and even though I don't trust the snk wiki, I've drawn some information from there to conclude on what his exact age could be.
Tumblr media
In his wiki, in the trivia section, there's this:
Levi's age is one of several mysteries Isayama has hinted about in interviews. He once stated that Levi is "surprisingly old," but declined to give an exact answer beyond stating that he is "older than 30." In February 2016 he was interviewed again at the Attack on Titan "The Real" theme park, and when questioned about Levi's age responded that he is in his "late thirties." However, Marina Inoue (Armin Arlert's voice actress) later rectified and said Isayama made a mistake due to nervousness, and had asked her to correct that Levi is actually in his "early thirties." This was further confirmed in the Attack on Titan ANSWERS guidebook.
There was supposed to be a link to the translated interview that's no longer available, but if I find any further info I'll make sure to update this post.
Now, again I'll have to rely on the wiki, and point out certain years that will be important in explaining my thoughts on his age. These are:
829: This should be the year Kenny took Levi under his wing.
844: The year the prequel ‘ A choice with no regrets ’ following Levi's past is focused on. The year Levi joins the Survey Corps.
845: When the story begins. The fall of wall Maria.
850: When the main story begins. When Eren is placed under Levi's custody and joins the Survey Corps.
Having this information in mind and the fact that Levi in the year 850 he's in his early 30s, in the year 854 in his 30s, and the year 857 in his late 30s ( unconfirmed information ), in the span of 7 years, Levi remains on his 30s, meaning in the year 857 his maximum age is 39, and his minimum age in the year 850 is 30. Meaning his age range should be: 30-32 in the year 850, 34-36 in the year 854, and 37-39 in the year 857.
In my portrayal of him, Levi's 31 in his main timeline ( year 850 ), 35 in the year 854, and 38 in the year 857 ( the ending of the story ). With this information in mind, here are my thoughts:
Tumblr media
Levi's born in the year 819. At the age of ten, in the year 829, Levi loses his mother. He's older than he appears, he's had plenty of time to live with his mother, and her upraising surely affected him. Around the same age, Kenny looks after him, and eventually abandons him, leaving a ten-year-old kid to survive on his own in the underground ( no criticism in my tone. okay, maybe a little ).
In the year 844, Levi joins the Survey Corps. He's 25 years old. Pretty old for a soldier, considering the minimum age for a cadet to enlist in the Survey Corps is around the age of 15. I imagine Hange and Erwin who are around the same age, should already be serving in the Corps for 10 years. It's also surprising it's only a year before the fall of wall Maria, the beginning of the story. The feeling I personally had at first, the story of how Levi joined the Survey Corps, seemed to me to belong to a long-forgotten past, when it's only a year, or even a few months before the Collosal Titan first appears. And by the time wall Maria falls, Levi had very few chances to go past the wall ( if not only one, the expedition he lost Farlan and Isabel, since in the expedition in the first chapter/episode, we spot Keith and Erwin but not Levi ). Meaning most of the expeditions he has participated, are those to recover the third wall.
Tumblr media
‘ [...] in the first chapter/episode, we spot Keith and Erwin but not Levi. ’
One more thing that's been bothering me is that Levi lived in the underground for 25 years of his life. By the time he first appears as Eren's guardian, he has only lived in the upper ground for six. It's only 6 years of sunlight he's lived in. Which is . . . Heartbreaking. His criminal past, the death of Isabel and Farlan is only 6 years apart, and for the biggest part of his life he's been a criminal, not a hero. Interesting? Not at all, I know.
To conclude: Levi's born in the year 819, his age in the main timeline (850) is 31, by the end of the story he's 38, he joined the Survey Corps at the old age of 25, and very close to the main story.

I think we get why Oluo admired Levi so much. Because of his genes.

Hsien-Ko and Mei-Ling Official Lore Project
Ever since I had watched this video, I have become inspired to make a video of a similar style and vibe:
youtube
First of all, please watch this video and check out Dan's other videos. Funny guys with a passion for Fatal Fury and SNK as a whole.
With that said, I want to discuss what I am planning and working towards in the future. I want to deep dive into making a detailed character essay video regarding both Hsien-Ko and Mei-Ling of Darkstalkers. While video making is not new to me as I did so in the past (roughly +10 years ago on Youtube), this will be the first time I have made a lore/character essay. Research to a higher caliber and script writing will be first times for me in video making. Understandably, there is very little in the Darkstalkers games to work with and many would say to look at the Darkstalkers wiki. However, from initial searches beyond the Fandom site, there appear to be errors or straight up made-up information on there. Not only that, but some information is also missing... which is not the fault of the people there.
As it turns out, a lot of the lore and biographies in the series are behind a language barrier that those outside of Japan can't easily access. While some would suggest using Google Translate and image recognition to get the job done, that is out of the question. That program is quite flawed in catching the nuance of the language that only a native speaker would know.
You might be asking, 'Aura, what are trying to say?' Well, what I am in the works of doing is gathering all the Japanese text from scans of official Darkstalkers guidebooks in order to fully get the scope that the developers intended for Hsien-Ko and Mei-Ling. I will do my best to detail all that is uncovered to help portray a cohesive narrative about the background and story of these two sisters in Darkstalkers. But not only that, I want to also head canon and analyze that information and every aspect of them to also draw out ideas. Their style of clothing, their names, their Chinese background, etc.
But not only will I use the official lore from Japanese texts, I also intend to use this:
Tumblr media
'What is this cover?' you may be asking. This is 'Vampire Hunter Gaiden: Lei-Lei Hen - Owaranai Haru (ヴァンパイアハンター外伝 レイレイ編 終わらない春)'. Translated as 'Vampire Hunter Tale: Hsien-Ko~ Endless Spring', it is written by Akihiko Ureshino (嬉野秋彦) with illustrations by Kohime Ose (桜瀬琥姫). While this is not canon to the games, it is a licensed light novel released back in 1996/1/1 that initial Google translations from Japanese wiki pages lead me to believe that I need to look into this story. There are mentions in how the personalities of the sisters, especially Mei-Ling, are similar to the Darkstalkers OVA versions of them, another licensed piece of media that released months after this novel and is one of the few rare pieces of media to leave Japan and be translated. To build a cohesive idea of who Hsien-Ko and Mei-Ling are, I feel it is important that I get this novel translated and read to figure out what the writer came up with for Hsien-Ko and Mei-Ling, one of the first pieces of licensed media to do so. It will certainly cost a lot of money as I have over 224 pages worth of text that must be translated, but I am willing to do it for these two characters I cherish dearly.
That, for personal Cryas Darkstalkers reasons, and because this novel inspired a doujin that means the world to me, 'Share':
Tumblr media
Overall, the scans from the official lore, the games, this light novel, and the OVA will be used to help try to build upon 'Who are Hsien-Ko and Mei-Ling? What are they like? Where did they come from? Their goals and thoughts, what are they?', along with other bits I wish to convey as I find them fun to bring up and discuss.
Hsien-Ko and Mei-Ling mean the world to me, and I wish to finally give them both the justice they deserve after nearly 30 years. Speaking of 30, I am planning to try and get this project finished by March 3rd, 2025, as that is the anniversary of Night Warriors: Darkstalkers' Revenge releasing into Japanese arcades.
I'll update of my progress as time goes on, so I'll leave you with what I have so far and my other plans for the video:
The scans of the novel have been fully finished and am in the process of getting a quote.
If you wish to see the novel yourself, whether out of curiosity or because you are fluent in Japanese, I'll let you have a look:
I am intending to commission artists to help illustrate aspects of the script when the time comes. Make it feel like a group effort by the community. 😊
If any of you are aware of good video editing programs that are cheap or free, please let me know.
For now, that is all I have for you. Cheers peeps. 😎✌️

Hey! How are you? I was reading a fic, well almost a meta on Levi&Hanji's relationship in which something really bothered me. The OP said after Erwin's death Levi did follow Hanji as the commander and fulfilled whatever goal she gave him; however, despite the fact There is trust between them, the level of this trust would never reach to the one he had towards Erwin as well as his leadership. The thought makes me feel so uncomfortable because I don't think for a second this is true. Where do you think such a ridiculous opinion stem from and what do you think about the whole idea?
Hello!!!
I hope you are doing fine! Sorry the lateness on this reply!
Hmm, the idea that Levi trusted Erwin in a way he didn't trust anyone else is somewhat based on their relationship dynamics, imo.
For example, there are instances where their trust bond is particularly highlighted: in the Female Titan arc - where Levi says to Erwin "I'm going to trust your judgment" after the Commander orders him to replenish his gas when "there was no time and he already had plenty"; or in the first snk guidebook that highlights Levi's relationships, and it's trust with Erwin again; or also Levi’s character monologue:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I think Isayama really wanted to put the trust bond of their relationship as something different from everyone else! What makes sense considering 1) Levi's hard past and horrible grow up in the Underground, and 2) the way he chose to share the same goal as Erwin in his life mission being to save humanity.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know, though, that some people often says Levi trusted him blindly or without question, as if he was only a mindless soldier obeying orders. But the truth is that while Levi does trust Erwin, he questioned stuff (ie, in the Female Arc); he called out Erwin’s "gambles" (ie, in the Reiss Titan fight), he reprimanded him (ie, in the pre-RtS battle). Above all, Erwin was also a great strategist, and he "brought the best results" as per Levi's words in his character song as well as Erwin’s journey up until his death. So Levi choose to follow and trust him for very grounded reasons, and his personal belief something would come out of their struggle for humanity.
That said, the experience Levi had under Erwin was very different from the one he had Hanji, imo. While Erwin always felt like he was walking ahead of everyone, and Levi came to stand in equal footing with him more toward the end of Erwin's life when the latter bared his whole to Levi in the crate scene, Hanji had always had a complementary open book relationship with Levi.
Like, idk, Erwin is of very confident leader, and Levi stresses a few times how he doesn't know what Erwin is thinking (like in their smartpass) but still trust the man, and the text ends highlighting how they both are the greatest men of the SC; or Isym saying Levi felt a little betrayed after discovering Erwin’s dream, but still followed him. While Hanji and Levi are completing each other's sentences, or having telepathic conversations, and listening to each other's trail of reasoning to reach a mutual understanding and trace plans of actions. So things are just different between them all...
As for the level of trust Levi had in Hanji as Commander, I think the fact Levi asked Erwin to let Hanji lead the troops in the RtS battle and "wait for the good news" gives a solid idea of how much faith Levi had in her leadership too.
Tumblr media
Hanji was an integral part of their advancement with her intelligence and inventions, her experience as Squad Leader was one of the best in the battlefield considering her group had the highest survival rates because of their constant experiments/studies of Titan behavior, and aside from her absolutely excitement with Titan Studies when the opportunity for it seemed fitting, Hanji was fully committed to fight to death for Humanity and showed pretty much deadly willpower to fulfill her mission. (Also, Erwin believed that Hanji could one day unveil the mystery of the Titans, and he trusted the SC leadership to her hands since Uprising Arc. These things are not small stuff.)
So that's it imo - their relationships were different, and Isayama did put an emphasis on Levi and Erwin’s trust bond.

Hii Lost! I just want to thank you for everything you have done and are still doing for the eruri community. Every time I get discouraged from a bad experience with the fans, it's you, your posts, and your fics that keep me going (Momtaku, too. I miss her :( ) . Now, I have a question. Is aot tactics game canon? Are we to take anything mentioned there as an addition to canon?
This is so weird. I can see this ask on the tumblr app, but it isn't in my inbox on desktop. I usually only answer asks on desktop so I wonder how many others I've missed that only show up in the app??
Anyway, I'm glad I caught this ask because I wanted to say thank you for your kind words, which I'll also pass on to @momtaku ♡
In answer to your question I'd say that this is definitely a case of YMMV. Everyone has a different opinion of what constitutes canon. I tend to see canon as a sliding scale that goes something like this: SnK manga, official guide books & interviews with Isayama, anime & OVAs, Smartpass content, other officially sanctioned content including Tactics and other games.
I know there are fans who regard the manga as the only canon content but I think it's important not to disregard the Answers Guidebook and Character Guides. They were written by Isyama with good reason and the date of their publication was not coincidental. The Answers Guidebook was published the same week as chapter 84 and provided a wealth of detail about Erwin and Levi's relationship, among other things.
The Smartpass content tends to get overlooked these days, but it's really worth delving into as it includes lots of really lovely stories and "interviews" that give real depth to the characters. You can find Smartpass translations on @yusenki's blog (X), @momtaku's (X) and @tsuki-no-ura's (X).
Tactics content is harder to come by but I've just discovered that some fabulous nerds have posted *everything* on reddit. Bless them. The "Attack on Titan: Tactics" Complete Archive.

— headcanon: age ( & general discussion on timelines )

I'm reviving this meme

I think we get why Oluo admired Levi so much. Because of his genes.

Hange’s page translation
Tumblr media
This is the page from the second arc in the Character Guide Book, before this page is a picture of Hange with some stats. Please see footnotes for translation alternatives and notes.
________________________________________________________
TORN BETWEEN DUTIES AND IDEALS
At one point, by revealing the truth, Hange unified humanity inside the wall, but after becoming the commander of the Survey Corps, Hange is in a position where she has no choice but to conceal the truth about Eren’s confinement to the citizens.
Hans is torn between the role assigned to her and the ideal of “Putting information in the hands of taxpayers.” (*1)  (Vol 27, Ch 109, as pictured)
And so, Eren’s confinement leads up to the Yeagerists revolt afterwards.
_______________________________________________________
FOR THE SAKE OF THE WORLD, SOLDIERS AND WARRIORS COME TOGETHER
Even as the world is engulfed in hopelessness due to the Rumbling, Hange doesn’t give up the determination to fight back.
Hange unites the Survey Corps and the Marley Warriors: people who hold different opinions join together.
Hange’s wish, to overcome pity and resentment (*2) and try to stand up for a greater cause, changes General Magath’s heart, and brings forth the strength to save the world. (Vol 32 Ch 127)
___________________________________________________________
PERFOMING DUTIES AND RETURN TO COMRADES~
Hange regrets that she could not offer to Eren any hope or ideas for a solution for the Eldian people’s predicament.
In order to perform her duties, going as far as killing a great many comrades and having commanded Armin and Reiner, Hange singularly dared to take on the Rumbling.
In the end, Hange reunites with Erwin and the others. (33, 132)
____________________________________________________________
*1 Alt. Translation: Hans is torn between the role assigned to her and the ideal of putting information in the hands of the People.
*2 This word 恩讐 in the dictionary is “love and hate” but I found this not a satisfying translation because it struck me as too cliche and may be interpreted wrongly. Looking at the dictionary in Japanese, this means more like 情けとあだ sympathy/compassion and resentment/rivals type of thing.
Note: I’m not perfect, I do not use a translator for my translations, and there may be some translation errors. Feel free to correct me. If you have questions why I translated something a certain way, it’s probably to sound more natural, but ask away.
