talk shop tuesday! continuing the topic of AUs, do you prefer canon compliant stories or AUs? and are there specific types of AUs that you tend gravitate towards?

ooohhhhh i think aus might eek out in terms of preference? a good canon-compliant fic can hit the spot, but thinking back on fics that i really enjoy, a lot of them are aus that are nearly canon-compliant but kinda veer towards the left? like cot3 for l&co; is any cot3 fic an au (since they arent confirmed) or canon-compliant in an open-ended way? im so sorry i cannot answer a question normally without thinking too hard about it probably aus LOL

aus are so good i love them so much!! my fav type are hyper-specific modern aus, the weirder/outlandish compared to the source material, the better!! i mentioned these awhile back but varnes' mdzs snl au, magneticwave's discovery of witches geneticists au, hyuckhei's nct neuro lab au are all so good. they're borderline insane sometimes (like lan zhan working at snl??? hello???) but i think that's what makes me love them so much, is that you're putting these characters in situations that i would have never thought of before and just making them work?? like that's god-tier skills there. honorable mention to other aus like spy/assassin aus, knight/fantasy aus, etc. i am not immune to weapons and competency :3

And yay! mini elf fam, I like it lol. Nct are actually one of the few groups I got to see debut, but I was a casual listener till Cherry Bomb era. I bias more than half of nct already 😭 but to name a few; kun, yangyang, haechan, sungchan, shotaro, johnny, yuta. Wby? 👀 I don't have a fave subunit since each one has a different vibe/sound, so I like all of them. Fave era? I have a lot, but Resonance was pretty legendary.

Starry Night is a beautiful song, I was obsessed when it came out haha. Their vocals sound so good together. Sj-m is my fave subunit in suju, so having zhoumi & wookie collab was the closest to a reunion for me. Eunhyuk is bound to bias wreck you, he's amazing! & I agree D&E always serves.

I've seen a few of their snl skits, they're hilarious. The one where hae is asked why he's crying while looking at a mirror & he's like "I'm so handsome" lives rent free in mind 😭 and totally agree w you!

This is going to be such a silly request (I’m just in a silly mood I guess,we deserve to take things lightly every once in a while!) so I’ll apologize in advance,but is there any worth-of-mentioning JaeDo funny moments? Sometimes I’ll watch a compilation or 127 content to see if I can catch something I previously missed, and when I do come across it,sometimes I’m like: ‘did Jh really think he’s slick there? Dy cannot be serious right? Why would they do that?’ And I find it so funny and endearing at the same time,so I was wondering if there are any moments like that.

Of course there are. I think it will be quicker for you to watch JaeDo compilations on YT or TT than ask me. Most funny moments become famous and are repeated in videos afterall.

Talk Shop Tuesday: what’s a genre/trope that you love to read but don’t write? And vice versa?

oooh this one made me think i say like you don't ask me thought-provoking questions every week jsdkadhfjs

in terms of love to read but don't write, there are people out there who do fantastically detailed modern aus (thinking specifically of varnes' mdzs snl au, magneticwave's discovery of witches geneticists au, hyuckheis nct neuro lab au) that i just adore reading, but have never been able to quite figure out how to write. case in point, i've been trying my darndest to write an archery team au for years and have failed to do so in multiple fandoms. still holding out that this is something i'll be able to achieve in time as i grow in my writing bc these aus have so many minute details of the modern world while fitting characters in and it just makes me giddy!!

in terms of love to write but don't read, probably hanahaki stuff? i've written 2 hanahaki fics in the last 3 years, and that's definitely more hanahaki fics than i've read in the past 3 years. i like the idea of it and playing around with the disease and hiding feelings, but i feel like there are a lot of "plotholes" in how the disease canonically works that drive me a little up the wall when reading them.
