What Every Adventurer Needs: Savage United

SO! This is something that came about because of a Thing that happened on a server I'm on. Someone asked us to talk about any magical/named items our characters have, so I went down the list, and they wanted details on the following: Weapon, Armor, Talisman, Enchanted Item, and Arcane Item (where applicable for those.)

Sadly I have to break this up into sections as it turns out for SOME asanine reason Tumblr only allows 30 images per post… so imma do it by Avalon, then Savage United, then Others.

But yes… HEY COBRAK! IS THIS ENOUGH FOR YA, YA BOOPER?! OwO

Sekhi, Vulpera Snootbooper Shamaness

Weapon: Zereth Stave. Sekhi’s stave really isn’t anything special, its just a staff she found in Zereth Mortis that she happens to like because it’s the right size for a Vulpera to use (this is actually a very common issue among the smaller races of Azeroth.)

Armor: Traditional Vulperan Garb. Sekhi’s top and headscarf were woven by her mother, Risala, when she was a teenager and while they have worn a little they are well cared for. Her friend, Nitika, is a weaver by trade and helps her mend them when needed.

Talisman: Wooden Flute. Sekhi’s flute is just an ordinary wooden one she got at a swap meet as a young girl, but because of her shamanistic nature she’s able to use it to commune with the elements. To her, all the elements of Azeroth sound akin to musical instruments save for Spirit and Decay, which sound like singing voices (though Decay sounds like those singing are sick or otherwise unwell.) Her strongest affinity is to Air, and her flute sees the most use as Air sounds akin to flutes, horns, or other such instruments to her.

Enchanted Item: Pouch of Healing Spores. Gathered with the help of her druid friend Shalandrae, these spores are self-propagating and enchanted with both the elements of Earth and Spirit as well as Shalandrae’s own nature based magics. When thrown at an ally, they help to seal the wounds with moss-like growths that are absorbed quickly by the body. A bit disturbing at first blush, but nobody who has seen the results will complain.

Arcane Item: Wooden Vulpera Totem. A hand-carved totem in the shape of a stylized fox with a tail wrapped around itself. The tail will glow with whatever element Sekhi is currently channeling through it.

Edwood Vargas, Forsaken Darkcaster

Weapon: Gravedigger’s Spade. Not a special shovel by itself, but a shovel Edwood found abandoned in a graveyard during his travels and which he had enchanted to act as a spell foci for himself. He’s amused by the idea of a dead man using a shovel for burying dead men.

Armor: Edwood’s armor is a mish-mash of things important to him. His shoulderpads hint as his heritage from life, as he was born in Drustvar on the island nation of Kul’Tiras, and his robes are those he wore while working for the Grand Apothecary society (he is still a practicing alchemist infact.) His gloves are specially designed to enhance his fiery magics as well, allowing him to focus his destructive fel powers with greater ease.

Talisman: Alchemist’s Stone. Like many alchemists, Edwood has crafted himself a special alchemy stone to use with his transmutations. The stone glows a deep blue glow and is empowered to help make the effects of his concoctions more enduring, allowing him to make his stores last longer.

Enchanted Item: Dagger of Fel Ritual. A dagger set with runes along the blade that glow a baleful green, Edwood used this dagger in the ritual to summon and bind the Fel Imp, Guzzle, to his service when he first became a warlock. He doesn’t use it often, but he keeps it with him just incase… that and a good knife is just useful to have.

Arcane Item: Drowned Man’s Fingerbones. A bag of fingerbones taken from the corpse of a man who’d drowned, an old enemy of Edwood’s infact. During his early days of service to the Forsaken he was set upon by a lone member of the Scarlet Crusade. Fortunately for Ed they were barely a novice and he was easily able to disarm them, then grapple them into a lake whose banks they had been fighting on. Not needing to breathe, Edwood simply weighed him down and held him under until the man drowned, then cut off his hands and after letting some beetles take care of the flesh and meat he gathered up the bones. He set them with fel runes and sometimes uses them for purposes of divination or other ritual use. He… doesn’t bring this up with his allies however. He doesn’t want to bother them with the details.

Grimo B. Blamstick, Goblin Tinkerer

Weapon: Custom Deadshot Handcannon. Grimo’s weapon is a custom-built rifle capable of firing a multitude of nasty things into his enemies. Beyond basic lead slugs it can also shoot sniper rounds (good for finishing off a weakened foe,) darts with a seaforium charge affixed to them (kaboom,) and a special syringe-like dart filled with a substance devised by Mola’raum and his allies in the House of Plagues (it does some serious sick.) In emergencies the bayonet blades on it are kept razor sharp.

Armor: Goblin greasemonkey jumpsuit. His armor is fairly standard goblin kit at first blush, but with several additions. His gauntlets have an array of built in syringes that can dispense stimulants and medications directly into his bloodstream when needed, his goggles have an array of energy detectors built in to allow him to track body heat (humanoids and animals,) necromantic energies (undead,) fel energy (demons,) and elemental energy (elementals and dragons) among other things. His belt also has a cloaking device built into the belt buckle and rockets built into the sides for a quick burst of speed in emergencies.

Talisman, Enchanted Item, Arcane Item: Grimo doesn’t use magic at all. He thinks its pointless. Why bother pouring over tomes to learn how to make explosions when he can do the same with a couple ounces of seaforium, a lead casing, and a match?

Nitika Dawnhoof, Tauren Seer

Weapon: Eagle Staff. When Nitika first became a Seer, her parents commissioned this stave for her in the image of an Eagle, An’she’s sacred animal. She has used it ever since, and the staff itself is enchanted to occasionally blaze with the Sun God’s radiance, enhancing her ability to channel his healing light into her allies.

Armor: Handwoven Taurhaue Vestments. Nitika’s outfit is, mostly, a set of handcrafted traditional tauren clothing that she made herself. Each piece is also enchanted and imbued by her, the tauren a gifted enchanter as well as a weaver, save for the shoulderpad which was carved by the same craftsman who made her staff and her top, which she purchased in Valdrakken (she just rather likes the style.)

Talisman: Totem of An’she. Hanging around Nitika’s neck is a small wooden totem to the Tauren Sun God, An’she. It is enchanted to hold a bit of the sun’s warmth at all times, letting her know that wherever she goes her god’s gaze is upon her.

Enchanted Item: Ring of Healing Waters. Found in the Forbidden Reach of the Dragon Isles and made with the help of her two shaman friends Sekhi and Zhan-min, this ring is imbued with the power of elemental water to help cleanse her ally’s wounds as well as to restore her own spellcasting energies.

Arcane Item: Mirror of the Sun. A small hand mirror that was left in direct sunlight in ritual for an entire day from sunrise to sunset, blessed by An’she’s light. She can use this to cause a burst of light anywhere, even underground or at nighttime, to dazzle her enemies. She doesn’t need to use it often, but its nice to have.

Laurelgosa, Dracthyr Evoker

Weapon: Blade of the Lifebinders. A scimitar imbued with the scarlet radiance of the Red Dragonflight, this blade enhances Laurelgosa’s own Evoker powers to channel flames into both friend (to renew) and foe (to… well… do what flames normally do to things.) The edge is also kept razor sharp, making it an effective melee weapon in a pinch.

Armor: Dracthyr Hide. The truth is, Laurelgosa barely needs armor. Her own dracthyr scales are very similar to dragon hide and quite resistant to damage on their own. She does wear a wrap and breechcloth for modesty’s sake in her Dracthyr form.

Talisman: Idol of the Life-Binder. Laurelgosa has great respect for Alexstrasza and carries a small statuette of a red dragon carved from the ruby-like Alexstraszite gems native to the Dragon Isles. This statue causes her magic to flare greatly sometimes, enhancing it’s effects.

Enchanted Item: Deck of Darkmoon Cards. Laurelgosa is a scribe and, before her imprisonment in the Forbidden Reach twenty eons ago, would often draw up maps and other battle plans for her allies in service to Neltharion. These days she turns these talents more towards art than warfare and crafted herself a complete Darkmoon Deck imbued with the power of Air, carving it a deck box with a fiery motif on it as well.

Arcane Item: Spell foci of the Dreamers. Another draconic weapon, this one imbued with the powers of the Green Dragonflight. While Laurelgosa can be a fighter, she still prefers to take a supportive role when she can in combat. This foci allows her to better use her more restorative powers tied to the bronze and green dragonflights.

Galdia Grimaxe, Warsong Warrior

Weapon: Reforged Red Crane Sword and Shield. Originally Galdia wielded a two-handed claymore of pandaren steel, gifted to her for helping to drive back a Sha outbreak in the Karasang Wilds. The sword was broken in a battle with the Primalists on the Dragon Isles, but with the help of Dareley and Zhan-min it was reforged into a longsword and shield for Galdia instead. Sadly, because of how it broke a claymore was out of the question as the metal was too brittle where it broke and would just snap again. Galdia is quite happy with the outcome though.

Armor: Warsong Gauntlets and Boots. Galdia is a Mag’har, and a member of the Warsong Clan, and despite the negative associations that gives on Azeroth because of Garrosh Hellscream she is proud of her heritage. Anyone who attempts to associate her with the deposed warchief will likely rouse the warrior’s ire… and end up taking their teeth home in a bag.

Talisman: A Mother’s Ring. Not really a talisman or magical, but Galdia’s nose ring is the only thing she has belonging to her late mother, who died helping to hold back a Lightbound attack on Draenor while Grom Hellscream led the other Mag’har in retreat. He came back to the battlefield after the fighting had ended and found her mother’s body, giving Galdia the nose ring to wear as a memento of her parents.

Enchanted Item & Arcane Item: Galdia is a warrior, and a Mag’har. She doesn’t use magic as a point of pride. To her, steel and muscle is all she needs to see her through a fight.

Mola’raum of the Ebon Blade, Darkspear Necromancer

Weapon: The Dark Spear. Unlike many of his Ebon Blade brethren, Mola’raum sticks to his Troll heritage and wields a spear with runes set into the head of the spear itself. He often jokes that it fits him best as he was of the Darkspear tribe in life and, well, this is indeed a very dark spear.

Armor: Vestments of the Ebon Necromancer. Mola’raum’s fighting style is less about wading into combat himself and more about summoning a horde of undead horrors to fight alongside him, thus his armor favors movement over protection, relying on a wall of flailing undead flesh to protect him from his foes as his diseases eat away at their bodies.

Talisman: Satchel of the House of Plagues. Mola’raum is actually quite an old troll. He lived in Stranglethorn Vale before his death… two hundred years prior to current events infact. He died during a territory dispute with another tribe and wound up going to the Shadowlands, being sent by the Arbiter to Maldraxxus. A potion and poison maker in life, he was a prime candidate for the House of Plagues which he served until their Margrave sent him to Azeroth to investigate rumors of a plague of undeath, suspecting it was one of their own that had been stolen. Mola’raum was captured by the Scourge, his memories sealed by Zovaal’s power, and made into a Death Knight so he couldn’t return to Maldraxxus to warn them of the Jailer’s plot, but he regained those memories with the help of Marileth after returning to the Shadowlands. While the satchel isn’t magical, Mola’raum keeps it with him at all times to hold his alchemy reagents… and to say that nobody will ever make him forget his home again.

Enchanted Item & Arcane Item: Being a Death Knight, Mola’raum’s rune weapon plays both these roles. He needs no other one really, the spear giving him a direct connection to the Shadowlands and fueling his own deathly powers.
