I have so many thoughts so I’m putting them under the cut
Ok so thoughts about Fear Entity alignments for Deltarune characters!
Kris, to me, was one of the more obvious. Being the only human in town makes them a very distinct other from everyone around them, despite their attempts to blend in with their family. They’re also regularly referred to as creepy and “the class zombie” by their peers. All very Stranger-esque. They are also very clearly a victim of The Web via the Soul/Player, that’s just a no-brainer.
Susie is another easy one, she’s a Slaughter avatar if I’ve ever seen one. She lashes out with violence at the slightest hint of adversity, and only decided that non-violent solutions could sometimes be of use after almost killing one of her first real friends. And even after that she’s still always ready to bash skulls at any time.
Ralsei was an interesting one. His alignment doesn’t actually have much to do with his own fear, nor any fear he inflicts on others. But instead is a reflection of Darkners as a whole. All Darkners, as beings essentially born from darkness, are Dark aligned by default. As the Prince of the Dark, Ralsei embodies this.
Berdly as a Vast avatar is perhaps a bit more of a reach than the others, and it could be argued that he’s just as much a victim as he is an avatar. For me it comes in two parts. The first and simpler is that he’s a bird. Birds fly in the sky. The Vast deals with sky based stuff. The second is the more existential part of The Vast. Berdly struggles with being seen as unintelligent, unexceptional, insignificant. And the way he deals with this Fear is to project it onto others, belittling them and making them feel insignificant in comparison to him.
Noelle’s alignment changes based on the route. In the regular route she’s a shoo-in for The Lonely, being a quiet doormat who bends to others wills without actually being an active member. In the Snowgrave route, she fills the role of Desolation avatar quite nicely, destroying everything in her path, leaving nothing untouched by her ice. (She’s also clearly a victim of The Web in both routes, by Queen and Kris/the Soul respectively.)
Jevil is another simple one, what with the themes of chaos, madness, and unreality. Spiral avatar all the way.
I stared at Spamton for like an hour trying to figure out what to do with him. I gave up. Avatar of Capitalism ig.

Hellooo :3 it's ivy agiannnn! I changed my account, and I have an idea ! Redson, monkey king, and tang with a s/o that's like noelle holiday, including the powers, (and maybe a small angst about the snowgrave route, if you know what that is)
(If you don't know how she acts here's this from Google Noelle is friendly and cheerful, but also very timid, and sometimes has trouble saying what she's thinking. She apologizes often, and stays quiet about her feelings, such as her possible crushes, or her distaste for Berdly, out of fear)
Her powers are ice based, she can use sleep mist, and pacify, and ice shock
Your writings still so good!!! Sorry I was gone for a little bitt, I've missed your writing thoughh!!:3

Ugh, you opposites he’s fire and you’re ice, those never mix well together. Well, that's what everyone else says but does he look like he takes anyone's criticism, especially from a mortal?
He doesn’t like how you keep on saying sorry for literally nothing! Even saying sorry to the desk you accidentally bumped against a table in his workshop or even worse a mortal. A normal insignificant, useless, good-for-nothing mortal that you just apologize to.
Before you got together you both had the biggest crushes on each but neither wanted to say anything about it even if it was so obvious that it was just killing everyone. Spoiler: he caved first, he couldn’t handle it, he wanted to be with you so bad. He wanted you.
Honestly, you both have a water bed. Why? Duh, so both of you would be able to sleep better since you just need the cold and the heat so you stay on separate sides of the bed. Buttt there’s an exception when it comes to cuddles <3
𝓢𝓾𝓷 𝓦𝓾𝓴𝓸𝓷𝓰 "𝓜𝓸𝓷𝓴𝓮𝔂 𝓚𝓲𝓷𝓰"
He ain’t nervous when it comes to you and you don’t need to either! Don’t feel bad cuz you’re shy if you ask him that’s what makes you cute—just watching the blood rush to your face when he does something out of nowhere—ugh he could go on all day about how he loves you <3
If wondering he confessed first since he’s the man 🧍‍♂️since it’s obvious you like him back with the way catches you staring and looking away when you notice he’s looking back or how you gave those anonymous gifts sometimes (duh he knows it’s you)
You’re a bit hesitant to ask him about anything like if you wanted a kiss he can tell but you won’t say it —just in the corner just to figure out how to ask him—so cute! <3 he loves it but just LOVES it adding to the fact when finally does it without you being able to ask your face is just a bright red colour the cold air around you immediately going hot.
But then you just apologize for ruining the mood again by acting weird—ugh again like why? He wants to kiss you so much that you lose your mind and short-circuit immediately. (Say sorry again he dares you)
𝓣𝓪𝓷𝓰 "𝓜𝓻. 𝓣𝓪𝓷𝓰"
He always asks you what’s wrong whenever you try to hide your feelings from him—he can tell. You have that sour and sad look on you’re face before turning back to a smile, he rather have you smiling instead of forcing it. AND it’s over something silly like being too shy to ask for a kiss since you’ve already asked for so many from him.
Got sick by you…just your ice powers were a little bit too powerful one night which gave him a cold the very next morning. It’s fine yet you were absolutely horrified and apologized so many times while taking care of him. (not like he’s complaining since you're taking care of him.

I just want to say that I love reading your headcanon stuff. I would love to see more of that and Colandra x Spamton too. They're just so cute together. 😭 Also, I was curious if you think about any drama/angsty scenarios? Like, does Spamton get jealous easily? What a first couple's argument is like? Something along those lines (if you want to, no pressure lol)
Oh yeah, definitely! Even though I like drawing cuter stuff with Col and Spam since it makes me happy, he still is a villain, and I don’t want to completely erase that side of him.
For one, I feel like he might initially be iffy towards being doted on or even helped (even if deep down he wants it) - he’s so afraid of being in a position of losing his control again, he might initially push Colandra and her good intentions away, at least before he learns to trust her.
There’s also that whole thing of Spamton being insecure and getting jealous easily. He’s been abandoned so many times his fear of being abandoned again after getting attached to someone can come out in unhealthy ways.
I've also thought about what would happen if Spamton gave into his more selfish desires and used Colandra to help him sneak into the mansion. We know he can be manipulative, and she’s a Lightner so she’d absolutely get the attention of Queen - which Spamton would take advantage of. Maybe in his head he’d think he’s killing two birds with one stone - he gets to keep his friend while finally getting what he needs to become “free”, but I don't think Colandra would appreciate being used like that.
Alternatively if I were to go with a REALLY snowgrave-y timeline where Spam fully gives into his selfish side, he'd straight up give her the thorn ring and convince her to use it to become “stronger”. Colandra may be overly-trusting of creepy alleyway puppets but even she’d catch on that she’s being used, and she’d be pretty angry at him as a result. Especially after she had treated him with kindness.
Anyway... here's Colandra with the thorn ring! :^)

Loving a character who doesn't have a lot of diehard fans sucks.
So as y'all should hopefully know by now, I'm probably the world's #1 Lancer fan. And something I've noticed throughout my time of liking Lancer is that he... doesn't get too much attention compared to other characters.
Not a day goes by where I don't see fanart of Susie, Kris, Ralsei, Spamton, and so on. I feel as if this is unfair to Lancer if I'm being honest. I want to go over the characters that I see get more attention compared to Lancer and explain why I think this shouldn't be the case.
First off, arguably the most skewed of them all, Spamton. Yes, I know, Spamton's a secret boss, he's cool, etc. But HONESTLY, do you really think Spamton should get more love than Lancer? Spamton doesn't offer TOO much to the story; he's essentially a bonus character with some cool lore. And he likely won't return to later chapters either, given how secret bosses work. Lancer has SO MUCH MORE stakes AND potential in the ENTIRETY of Deltarune than Spamton ever will. And I think Lancer's personality, trauma, and relationships with other characters are just better as a whole and feel more genuine compared to Spamton.
Now for the other members of the Fun Gang: Kris, Susie, and Ralsei. This is where I get really annoyed at seeing how skewed the attention is. What REALLY gets on my nerves is seeing the Fun Gang--especially Kris, Susie, and Ralsei--get fanart WITHOUT LANCER BEING THERE. Like GUYS, Lancer is CANONICALLY part of the Fun Gang, WHAT are you doing??? Draw them all TOGETHER, don't just toss Lancer aside! Lancer is on the same LEVEL as those three! He may not get nearly the same amount of screen time, but he has A LOT, more than the VAST majority of characters seen thus far. He ABSOLUTELY deserves to be on the same level as the rest of the Fun Gang. Not even a QUESTION.
And then we have Noelle and Berdly. ESPECIALLY Noelle, oh my GOD Noelle. I will say this: if Snowgrave didn't exist, if Noelle wasn't forced by Kris to commit heinous acts, THE FANDOM WOULD NOT CARE ABOUT NOELLE AS MUCH. I would be as bold to say Snowgrave is part of what gave Noelle so much popularity. Yes, there are other factors at play, but this is the largest one in my eyes. I don't see Berdly getting the same amount of attention as Noelle, and I'm sure Snowgrave has something to do with it. So no, Snowgrave doesn't excuse Noelle from getting so much attention. Lancer is on the same level as Noelle and Berdly as well. The child was LITERALLY one of the PRIMARY characters in Chapter 1, and had a fair amount of screen time in Chapter 2 as well. He is on the SAME LEVEL as Noelle and Berdly.
There are other characters I could go over, but these are the primary ones I wanted to discuss. I see a couple themes here. First, some of the characters have primary roles--or are even only seen--in Chapter 2, the newer chapter. The one on everyone's minds. Lancer doesn't have tons of screen time in Chapter 2, therefore people don't pay as much attention to him compared to the pre-Chapter 2 era. The other theme is that some of the characters I mentioned are SUPER primary characters, primary to the point where it's VERY rare for a scene to not include them. Again, I think this is a poor reason, because Lancer was shown to be on equal footing in terms of focus in Chapter 1. Even if he wasn't given the same status on Chapter 2, that does NOT diminish the fact that he STILL HAS that status.
Now, why am I pointing this all out? I'm making this post because this is something that upsets me. I see so many people claiming to like Lancer and be Lancer fans, yet they often ignore him and focus on other characters, especially the ones I mentioned earlier. This is not right in my opinion. You can't claim to like a character without SHOWING you like the character. You should contribute to the character in a way, whether it be fanart, fanfics, or anything in between! It can even be something as small as reblogging fanart, but PLEASE, make it your duty to show some love. We all have a tendency to focus on some characters more than others, and there's nothing wrong with that. But at least try to give some characters the spotlight every so often. This doesn't only apply to Lancer, but other, often overlooked characters as well.
This has been a PSA... sort of. Kinda. Idk lol.

For the Character Bingo, let's go with... Berdly from Deltarune, Basil from HM64, and Jeff from FoMT!
Thank you so much for your patience on this! I'll break this ask into three parts and answer them today!
Let's start with the elite gamer, Berdly!
Tumblr media
There was a long gap between the releases of Chapters 1 and 2 of Deltarune, and during that time, it gave me many opportunities to see a lot of unlikable qualities Berdly possessed despite his short appearances. Arrogant, talking over his own friend, treating Kris with disdain and contempt all made him a very easy character to hate. Perhaps the best thing about him were the ridiculous faces that he made - he was a caricature and it was easy to see him as a very flat character, because that was what he was with the information we had.
Now, enter Chapter 2, and we see many sides of Berdly. I know there are plenty of fans that are going to hate him regardless, but he does show that there is more to him than simply stroking his ego. As proud as he is, he does better in a group than when he tries to take things on his own. We can see how desperate he is for approval based on the way he will do anything to appease Queen despite her blatant dislike of him.
Tumblr media
There are a couple of different routes you can take in this chapter, but I'll focus on the normal one first. The part where Berdly talks about his childhood and his friendship with Noelle gave him the humanity that I had been dying to see. Being labeled as "gifted", "talented", or "smart" when you are very young is a very heavy burden. The fear of letting other people down and not living up to expectations is very relatable. The fears of not "keeping up" and "losing your touch" are very real and can make life a nightmare.
His ego is such a driving force because that is all he feels he has. He isn't even sure if he deserves Noelle's friendship. He knows that Noelle is talented, and he feels that she was the one who should have gained all of the praise that he got. He's so scared of losing her, but at the same time, he's terrified he doesn't have her in the first place.
I feel like Toby did an awesome job during the flashback cutscene with simple silhouettes that showed a lot of emotion. We are able to see that Berdly does care deeply for his friend Noelle, but his fear of letting everyone down (and again, that ego boost as well) are often his driving forces.
When Berdly's pride is broken, we also see him admit that his way is not always the best way. When he gets encouragement from the party, he is excited to help however he can.
We see Berdly take that ego and cast it aside in the "Weird Route" aka "Snowgrave Route".
Tumblr media
He is genuinely terrified of the situation, as I would think most people would be. His main goal is to make sure that Noelle is safe above everything else, even if that means taking to arms. We see more genuine expressions on his face, we hear honest words. He cares deeply for Noelle and is willing to put her safety above Kris's and his own.
I know I could have dove even deeper on this, as I really love this game and Berdly has grown on me so much. I am on pins and needles waiting to see what is in store for him in the next chapter!
Thank you so much for the ask, and I hope you have a great day! 💖
Character Opinion Bingo!
Bonus Berdly! ;)

i. may or may not have made a Dsaf oc/self insert type thing (it's both because, appearance and partially personality wise, xe's based off of me irl. but backstory stuff is pretty different).
named the little guy Morgan Bane. he's sort of the "Jack of All Trades" in Dsaf 3. he's kinda one of the only main workers in Jack's restaurant.
time for some background on this lil guy:
23
they're genderqueer. and just queer in general.
they've got that LGBTQ+ Christian Religious Trauma™
Autistic and an Utter Anxious Wreck <3
associated with the color blue.
left home after college and went to go stay with a friend for a bit.
got a job at Jack's restaurant because Why Not, and also because she was also considering doing something similar later in her life and wanted to get some first hand experience with how these places work.
xe views Jack as a mentor of sorts. which uh. Makes A Certain Version Of The Legacy/Evil Route For This Guy Particularly Fucked Up!
please ask me about the Morgan and Dave (Pre-Henry Trauma) parallels i could go on for hours please-
during the Legacy Route, Morgan will accidentally walk in on Jack and Dave about to murder the baby, but will stand in shock and horror, trying to stammer out a question to Jack "B-Boss, I- What in God's name are you-?!"
there's two versions of Morgan during the Legacy Route (well...technically four if you count the routes where he'd get framed, but we won't count those for this-): one where Jack and Dave choose not to get Morgan involved, and simply threaten him into silence (which works), or uh...well, Anyone Heard Of The Snowgrave Route From Deltarune Chapter 2-?
so here's how it works, right? Good/Neutral Routes = Morgan is generally friendly towards Jack, and is actually quite eager to talk with him! Legacy Route (Normal) = Morgan is scared of Jack and will actively avoid him, and will fidget nervously whenever the two do interact. at the end, after Phone Guy gets done with his lecture, Morgan will give a much shorter one: "I...don't really know what there is to say. Y'know, I'm not one to say this lightly, but I believe that you deserve to hear this: Don't keep the Devil waiting, sir." Legacy Route (Snowgrave Edition) = same as Normal Legacy Route, except Somehow Worse, and gets dragged into Even More Shit. this poor boy. he needs a hug. and a fucking break.
Morgan is just sending. so many distress signals to Harry. So Many. help it.
also, i thought it would be interesting if Morgan had a QnA thing like the Phone Guy does in the game. have some differences in dialogue between Good/Neutral Route answers and Legacy (Snowgrave) answers for a few questions:
"Tell me about your family."
Good/Neutral: "Oh, well...my family are rather loving people, don't get me wrong; they said they only ever wanted the best for me, sir. They just weren't quite...accepting, you see. We had some disagreements, you could say. I love them all dearly, it's just...they don't love me for who I am, you know? They don't hate me; God no. They're just...rather set in their ways and faith, just as I am in mine.
It's...complicated, shall we say. We haven't talked much since I left for college...."
Legacy (Snowgrave): "Oh, well...our relationship isn't perfect, sir. Not by a long shot...b-but we still keep in touch rather often, I-I assure you! I can promise you that I've certainly been keeping in touch with them regularly for the past three years!
...
Why are you staring at me like that? I'm not lying! I-I do!"
"Who's this "friend" you keep talking about?"
Good/Neutral: "Oh, they're the sweetest! We've known each other for years, ever since we were little. They actually gave me a place to stay while I got my life somewhat in order. I'll be forever grateful for it.
I...don't know what I'd do without them, sir..."
Legacy (Snowgrave): "Oh...the friend I keep talking about? Well...we talk often, I lived with them for a while during college, and I feel like I could tell them anything."
(I see. And what would their name happen to be, Morgan?)
"....W-With all due respect, sir, I don't feel comfortable telling you that.
I-I'm not risking.....Of all the people in my life, I can't lose them. Please, I can't..."
"What do you know about Henry, Employee?" (note: in the Legacy Route, this question would be purple and would have a smiley face at the end)
Good/Neutral: "...Henry? as in Henry Miller? Well...I'll admit I don't know much. I know he was the co-owner of Fredbear's Family Diner, he was a doctor of sorts (apparently), and that he went missing in 1983.
...I'll be honest with you, sir. I might not've been alive when he was, but all the photos I've seen...he's got bad vibes. I don't know what it is, maybe the smile...? Just...ugh, he gives me the heebie jeebies and he's not even alive anymore...."
Legacy (Snowgrave): "W-Why did you ask it like that, sir? And...why're you looking at me like that..?
U-Um, well, I-I know he co-owned this place called Fredbear's Family Diner and that he went missing in the early 80's...but that's about it...
...W-Why did you need to know? Why are you still looking at me like that, sir?!"
"Do you have any hopes and dreams?"
Good/Neutral: "Well, y'know how this place is? And Chuck E. Cheese? I was thinkin'...maybe I could open my own place like this someday. Y'know, not a Freddy's or Chuck E's, but...my own little place! You think I could do it?
(...Yeah, you seem like you'd do great, Morgan.)
Really?! I- Thank you, sir!"
Legacy (Snowgrave): "...Well...I hope to get a better job someday. Maybe get married to someone.
.....Why do you ask sir?
...Sir? Jesus, you really like staring at me like that..."
"What do you think of me and your job here?" (note: same as the Henry question during the Legacy Route)
Good/Neutral: "Oh, well...you're certainly blunt, sir. B-But I don't mean that as a bad thing at all! You're a great boss! And this job, while it's certainly...chaotic at times, it's still one of the greatest I've had!"
(...Really? Wow...I feel kinda bad for you, Employee.)
N-no, I'm being serious! I like making people happy, and what better job for that than this one?
...Sure, this place hasn't had...the best track record of making people happy, but I hope to change that!"
Legacy (Snowgrave): "...Well, that depends. Do you want the truth, or do want to hear what you want to hear?"
(The Truth, Morgan.)
"....Sir, I have blood on my hands that can never be washed off. I feel too scared to fall asleep, afraid that I'll see that poor baby's face when I close my eyes.
...I'm also scared that either see you or Dave one standing over me, ready to..."silence" me...but that's neither here nor there...
...But I also know that I'm in too deep to back out now.
...So what real choice do I have, sir?"
2. (Well, that also depends...how much do you value your life, Morgan? :))
"...Well, in that case:
This is one of the greatest jobs I've ever had! Love you and my coworkers! Yep! Definitely don't live in terror every waking (and sleeping) moment, sir! Nope! Not at all! Heh heh..."
(Morgan nervously fidgets with her cross necklace, nervously looking behind you towards the door of The Office.
It seems like they're ready to make a break for it at a moment's notice. He tries to smile wide, but it doesn't reach his eyes.)
anyway, please send some asks about Morgan i'd love to talk about my lil dude here!! :D

Deltarune Ch 3 Theory (Spoilers!)
*
*
*
*
This will be sort of a ramble, and I’ll do my best to include screenshots, but this is my personal theory and thoughts on what’s happening and where Ch 3 is headed. Most of this stuff has probably been said by others, so this is mostly for me to come back to!
1. Kris
So there are a lot of moments that seems to hint to Kris’ homelife and I’ll just sort of go through them here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When you look through the room Queen trapped you in, there’s a calendar with a vacation date circled from a search query about when college has summer break. Given how close Asriel and Kris seem to be, I’m pretty sure Kris is really anxious to see Asriel and have his support back.
Because Toriel and Asgore seem to have divorced fairly recently? Or at the very least, I think it’s still definitely taking a toll on Kris, and Asriel leaving does NOT help at all. It makes me wonder if there’s more to him leaving for college.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s another curious thing where if you  decide to look through Asriel’s room, Kris shuts their eyes and seems to not want to see what’s inside, despite what the Player might want. Why? Afraid of what they’ll see? What could Asriel possibly be searching for that Kris would be afraid of the truth?
I think some incident happened in the past, one that’s related to the Dreemurr and the Holiday family growing apart, Noelle’s sister “Dess”, and Asgore apparently being removed from the police force. (If maybe he was powerless or cowardly to do something, this could have led to a divorce and Asriel leaving? I’m not sure, but I think Dess has died or its related tot he incident, and Asriel seemed close with them too so I’m sure it was also hard on him.)
(i didnt take a screenshot of the newsclipping with this info but ill put it here later lol)
Circling back to Kris, there’s several details that hint to Kris’ mindset, and basically, I think Kris doesn’t want to grow up because when you grow up you grow apart and don’t live out fun fantasies anymore. Maybe.
If you go to the flyer in the librarby,  and read the one about the ICE-E event that says “Where teens can still be Kids!” Kris is relieved, for some reason. Probably because they’re glad to hear they still technically count as a kid.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not directly related but if you go up to the upperright room and read the book about humans, Kris quickly shuts it. Given the similarities and hints to Chara from Undertale, it seems like Kris wanted to get away from other humans or humanity in general. Which also aligns maybe with Kris being fearful of the bunker. I really don’t know what to make it past this though. Crack theory was that the world of Undertale was just a Dark World Kris made as a kid or something. Or that when “Chara” fell, it was a fall similar to how Kris and Susie fall when entering a Dark World. Lmao probably unrelated though.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Dark Worlds and Escapism
The Dark Worlds seem to function as some sort of escapism, and it’s interesting that they’re all based on real life things. In Chapter 1, the Dark World was based on the classrooms various toys like checkers, chess, cards, dolls, etc. In Chapter 2, it seems even more so with Noelle. Queen actually wants the best for Noelle and is very nosy and always chasing after her, in contrast to Noelle’s real mom who is always busy being a mayor. After all, Queen does know how sad Noelle’s search history probably is. (Mainly from this post!)
(screenshots to be added lol)
Kris probably feels the same way, as both Noelle and Kris grew up together and seem to be suffering from dysfunctional families or some sort of drama.
And Queen directly says in the boss fight with Berdly that the internet and the screens provide comfort for many people, and she is well-intentioned in wanting to help make people happy. Maybe for Kris it’s video games or roleplaying or toys or silly things, kind of like how many people in the real world do similar things. I wonder if the next chapters will each focus on a different character and other forms of escapism or storytelling.
3. The Knight
So at the end of Chapter 2, Kris rips out the Player Soul and slashes the tires to Toriel’s car. Then later Susie talks about how cool it would be if they could bring Ralsei and Lancer and everyone to their world and hang out with them. Then Kris takes the Player out once again and pulls out a knife, fills the “Blade” with their “Will”, aka Determination, and creates a new dark fountain that encompasses their whole home (and maybe even the whole town).
(screenshot laterrrr)
It seems that the tires were to ensure Toriel stays inside the house though, so maybe it’s just the house. If that’s the case, and Kris really is the knight, I think Kris wants to envision a better home where things are better. Escapism right inside your own home.
If it’s the whole town, then maybe Kris already had Susie’s idea and really is going to take everyone in a new Dark World so everyone can be together. That or Susie inadvertently gave Kris the idea..it makes me wonder if we’ll see Toriel in her outfit from Undertale, or something like that. The other reason I could see it being a town-wide thing is because now Kris has the knowledge of the Roaring (thanks to Ralsei).  I’m not too sure what their stance would be, but maybe they see a benefit to it?
After creating a fountain, a smile flashes on the tv, so I think the next chapter will be television based and feature a tv villain (though it does look like flowey...). Again, i wonder if each chapter will be some form of escape for some people. or maybe it’ll be a different theme.
Also, I just want to add that I really don’t see Kris as malicious or doing thing for a sinister reason. Or maybe it’s still fucked up and selfish, but not the evil people imagine. If you do the snowgrave route, Noelle doesn’t even recognize it as Kris’ voice. The sinister voice in that route seems to be the Player rather, being cruel and making Noelle make these traumatizing choices. Which is why I wonder if Kris is the Knight, or if it’s a red herring. Not sure.
4. ANYWAYS
There’s a lot to unpack. Too much to unpack, like there’s a whole thing I could say about Big Shot and Jevil and Gaster. The way maybe Kris also knows the world is just a game (maybe thats why they hate humans?? were just like go puppet go lol). But i have no idea so this was just focused on Kris mostly, and Maybe i’ll talk more but I finished the game a few hours ago and I just had to get these thoughts out even if others probably already figured it out or think its obvious. It’s just really cool! Again, most of this comes from this theory, cus i havent looked much at others (YET) since i just finished today. Anyways, FUN GAME!
If anyone has useful screenshots or whatever please feel free to add lol

idk how to really introduce this so, this is basically an analysis of how i see the parallels between off, undertale, and deltatune; contains spoilers for all three
I think the key to all of them is shaming you the player for killing characters, but the difference is how much of a choice you have/how easy or hard it is to do
off takes advantage of the style of game but doesn’t give you a choice at all, it’s either kill all the npcs or don’t play the game; however it’s probably the least bad because you still have the out of ‘the batter never told me this was their goal, I didn’t know I was killing the specters’
undertale also takes advantage of the format but gives you a choice to do the right thing, if you do accidentally kill an npc in the beginning you can still reset and try again; and if you choose to commit genocide that’s all on you and, iirc, chara directly shames you for that choice (even if it is just saying your choices helped them)
deltarune at first seems to be the opposite of off (you know, by being a normal rpg that doesnt guilt you for killing/make killing count), it doesn’t give you a choice but it forces you on a pacifist run instead, until snowgraves/pipis/weird
snowgraves gives you so many outs, at almost every turn the game practically begs you to turn back and just play the game normally and the run is so easy to fuck up, and not only that, after a while it starts showing it’s not Kris making these monstrous decisions. it’s you. and as a reward for your extra efforts to be awful, it let’s you be awful. really awful. manipulate your character’s friend into murder awful. it makes you feel awful for your choice, watching Noelle break down like this, and the worst part is knowing it gave you a choice, a really easy one, and you still chose to do this

Miscellaneous Deltarune ch. 2 thoughts under the cut because I LOVE reading these from other people
It slaps. So hard
I personally thought chapter 1 was a bit weak overall – still had loads of fun playing it, and replayed it a bunch, but it left me hoping Toby and his team would do something a little different in the next chapters. And OH BOY did they deliver with this one!!
The music!!! Is so!!! Good!!!
The characters! The dialogue! Chapter 1 got so many chuckles from me but I still feel Chapter 2 managed to be even better on this front.
The weird/snowgrave route is as disturbing as it is exciting, especially since we know there's only gonna be one ending.
The Player's relationshop with Kris is... interesting? I can't parse it. It doesn't feel in line with Toby Fox to make a game where the only moral thing to do for the in-game people is not to play it at all, like we can only do bad by possessing a kid who would be better off without us...? But also, Kris is so much their own person, I feel like I am intruding, or making them do things they wouldn't usually – even in Pacifist. Like – I wish them and Ralsei to be friends, so I make Kris hug Ralsei. But is Kris okay with that? What would have they done?
Especially since it seems like Kris doesn't like Ralsei all that much...? Kris drinking Ralsei tea is the only combination where one of the trio drinking the tea of another one restores 60hp and not 120. What's up Kris? What does he tell you while I'm not looking? You ok? You know you can talk to me, right? And that you can just. Ditch the soul for a bit if you wanna play the piano and go out with friends. Yo it's chill man
We all already knew Toby was inspired by OFF for a lot of stuff, but imho this is the first time it really shows!! Maybe because some stuff had been there even before Undertale. Queen being simply Queen, the Swatchlings have big OFF vibes... but especially the Acid Tunnel of Love! I think one of the imagery OFF fans are most familiar with is the Batter traversing these rivers of meat on a creepy duck/swan-like Pedalo. I've read some theories about how we're actually playing the Bad Guy, since we & Kris are the Knight, and will end up having to fight everyone else. While I don't think that's the case at all... I can't help but feel it would be *cool* to have a sort of Batter situation with Kris, hehe.
I think since Toby knows that by now, pretty much the whole fanbase is looking out for signs of Gaster, they might be,,, tricking us a little? I definitely thought that the man who “spoke so eloquently” and gave “blueprints” to Sweet Cap'n Cakes might've been him! Turns out it was just Roulx Kaard, who might look a bit the part but is definitely not Gaster, haha.
On the same vein... I think general fandom consensus is that Gaster is the Knight, no? The games sort of keep pointing at it. My guess is, it's gonna be more complicated. He's leading us on.
PAPYRUS. papyrus Papyrus PAPYRUS
I am so worried for that little skeleton and yet!!! so excited!!!
The fact that we couldn't see him yet gives me high hopes Toby has big plans for this Best Boy. After all he was by far the weirdest (lore-wise) character in UT, the one with the most dialogue after the Narrator, inexplicably loved by all and any fourth wall breaking anomalies (Flowey, Toby, and me <3)
Also his design was based on Dedan from OFF! What a funny piece of information. How fun that he was based off a villain. Nothing could go wrong!!!
My belief is that he's gonna be an interesting character, and we're gonna meet him in the Dark World. Fight him probably!!! But we're gonna be his friends at the end.
And last thing... Sans has not once mentioned the name Papyrus. Papyrus just. Isn't in the game so far
Which is the most troublesome thing so far,,,
Especially since. I feel there might be a thing with siblings or similar people with similar names and us players being confused about it...? Catty UT is here, but our peer and likely to be in adventures is Catti. Noelle has/had a sister we yet know nothing about, except her full name might be December. We were promised we would soon meet Suzy, yet only met Susie so far. We haven't seen Asriel in the game, but Ralsei sure looks how we imagine Asriel to, huh?
Can't wait for Toby to troll us. Sans is gonna open the door to his house like hey meet my brother. He's a little shy because he only speaks in sign language. His name is Gaster. Oh? Wasn't he who you were expecting?
and then Papyrus shows up and kicks our asses and in this other timeline he's the final boss or something and we could've never seen it coming

Hey Char, been a while. I'm curious, did you play the Snowgrave route of chapter 2 and if so what were your thoughts? I played it and it makes me think of you with the horror elements, so I wondered if you gave it a go.
Hello, Bun! Long time, no see, indeed. I’m glad to hear you thought of me as I primarily associate playing Deltarune and Undertale with you (you were the one who bought me it in the first place, after all, and convinced me to play it. Even when I listen to the soundtrack I think specifically of how you enjoyed it!)
Also, Napstablook = Krickis as far as I am concerned. Where there is Napstablook, I am thinking of Krickis. On actual serious thoughts, the Snowgrave Route is certainly an exciting one. I have not played it myself (Kris and Noelle are so young and I can barely manage to play the genocide route in Undertale) but I did watch another person play through it and my thoughts are as follows: wow!
Toby Fox most definitely has a hidden penchant for horror and it’s planted all across Undertale and Deltarune (Alphy’s lab in the true pacifist run in Undertale immediately comes to mind.) It’s a lot to do with the environment and atmosphere he’s capable of building in all areas of the game creating process, whether it be music or art design or battle mechanics (I imagine with the help of others too, but unfortunately I’m not very familiar with who works on the games) and creepy seems to come easy to him! I know you didn’t ask about Spamton, but his boss battle is another fantastic example of this. That horror element is a lot more... nightmare-y, though, I suppose? What I mean to say is, it’s almost silly. It doesn’t feel as real as what’s happening with Kris actively throughout the game, or what happens to Berdly. Part of this is because fighting Spamton doesn’t have consequences (that are obvious to the player.) The worst that happens is that Kris appears to have a panic attack afterwards and is visibly upset by what they’ve been forced by us to witness, but what I like specifically about the Snowgrave Route is that this lasts and it’s really explored. The lasting consequence it seems to have on the psyche of Noelle and Kris and the implication of the entire route is horror through and through, in a fantastic, amazing, wowza way.
And now, because I am a little bit too excited to talk about this, an unedited and possibly impossible to read ramble about horror and Noelle and Kris below the cut. The way I describe the game and the role the player has might be upsetting, so please do not read unless you’re very comfortable with body control horror etc..
Deltarune isn’t a horror game but its premise mirrors one in multiple ways and I find that very fascinating. It is almost more unnerving that such horrible experiences are masked by the fun, whacky outer layers. One could play Deltarune and never find Jevil or Spamtom’s boss fight or play the Snowgrave route and remain blissfully unaware of what lurks beneath a very normal (if occasionally dark!) adventure story.
Despite this, there is a lot to be said about Kris and the player’s control over them, as well as some choice words from Noelle about Kris’ recent behaviour and demeanour. It’s hard not to assume that Kris is possessed by us. We can force them to say things but they can react to these dialogue choices and become visibly upset at the actions we force upon them, so even playing the game as intended without discovering anything remotely below the surface, it’s impossible to ignore what actually playing the game and controlling Kris does to them. Essentially, stripping away all of the scariest parts of Deltarune doesn’t matter, because its actual premise, where you play, not as Kris, but as an entity CONTROLLING Kris, is in itself horrific! Kris is a child, at most sixteen and I certainly believe younger than that, and no amount of drawing them weirdly tall and lanky and emo-y can change that.
Possession and inability to control one’s self are heavily utilised in horror. When you consider how many times you’ve watched someone be tied down, forced to witness whatever is happening to them in real time, or the general horror and gore associated with demon possession in even current mainstream movies like The Conjuring (or even a mix of both! Media that explores being trapped inside the body without any control while being possessed and the effects it has on your mind is not common enough) it’s easy to see the connections between a lot of horror tropes and Kris’ ‘problem’. Only thing is, we’re directly perpetuating this horror every time we play. We are the demon! We are the person who is strapping someone down and forcing them to witness horrific things by our hand! I mean, it’s just fantastic. Deltarune is by no means a horror but it certainly feels like it. I suppose that’s the power of implication!
Being more specific to the Snowgrave route (I promise the previous ramble was related!) the player extends this control to Noelle, arguably the most vulnerable and ‘helpless’ character in the game so far besides Kris themselves (and even then, that’s in a much more literal way.) unlike Kris, who physically has no choice, Noelle feels as though she has no choice. She’s a pushover and unable to prevent who she perceives as her childhood friend from forcing her to do things she doesn’t want to. Her relationship with her mother seems to play into this complex. Noelle has always been one of my favourite characters— even with what little we see of her in chapter one, she makes a lasting impression and it’s not surprising that people wanted her to be a party member in this chapter. (The irony!) But this newest chapter also furthers an interesting trait of hers, namely, her fascination with fear. She enjoys being scared, she gets a rush from being in dangerous situations, feeling unsafe. She says so herself, though she uses more external situations to explain it (scary forests, etc.) It certainly explains her crush on Susie, but in the Snowgrave Route, it really works against her. Or, we use it against her. At a first glance, what we do to her in the Snowgrave route is awful, and then, the more you think about it, the worst it gets (usually a trademark of excellent horror and great writing in general, in my opinion.) not only are we playing into her deepest insecurities (because remember, it’s not Kris doing this, or us playing AS Kris, it’s just we, the player) we are actively abusing her as a person. We force her to fight. We force her to hurt people. We do all this for power. And we do all this while simultaneously doing it to Kris as well! And forcing Kris to be our mouthpiece, forcing them to hurt their friend who they presumedly love and care for! Unlike Susie and Ralsei, Noelle’s opinion of us cannot affect our journey and she is easy to control, so we do it. And once again, these are kids! They are children! We are not fighting Sans Undertale to the death, we are actively abusing and controlling children, much to the detriment of their mental health and the physical health of those around them.
Details such as the watch and the blackened “conversation” we have with Noelle in the hospital really only add to the experience. The implication that Berdly has been seriously harmed and potentially killed by what we’ve done to him (or more accurately, forced Noelle to do to him) is handled really interestingly from the younger persons perspective, where he simply doesn’t wake up. I could really go on and on, but unfortunately time is a constraint and I don’t think what I’m saying is very easy to parse anyway.
To summarise: Snowgrave Route good. Very well-written. Deltarune is a horror in disguise, but I will continue to put my hands over my ears and pretend everything is okay, just like Mr Toby Fox would like me to do. Thank you very much for the ask, I hope you’re doing well! If you have any thoughts of your own, please share them with me. I’d be delighted to hear your opinion as a writer (horror or not.) :]

here's the third part of my deltarune meta/theory thingy..sorry its a little late, im kinda unwell lol
here's the first and second post to get you up to speed.
now that ive explained why i think jevil and spamton know that they're all in a video game, i wanna talk about why that's important and how it might manifest in future chapters.
disclaimer: This one is especially...all over the place and unintelligible...as i said im unwell and my heads not all that clear. i might come back to this a day or two later and rewrite it to make more sense when i feel better though.
i wanna talk about undertale first.
imo, a big part of why undertale became so fucking popular and significant is because it challenged a core mechanism of video games that we've all just accepted without questioning: defeating enemies.
even though not all video games feature it, you gotta admit its become an integral part of gaming as a whole. it's a norm we don't really question--we see an enemy and we just go, oh. gotta defeat em. this is just one of many traditions in video games that's just gone unquestioned and is understood to be the status quo: control the player character, defeat enemies, get loot/experience, defeat the final boss, etc, to name a few
it's just ingrained in our brains that that's how we play video games, that's just how it is.
but undertale came along and challenged that perception big time, made us think about it and, most importantly, question the consequences of that action.
toby fox is doing this yet again in deltarune: making us question something that we've just accepted as the norm. that norm being: the very act of playing video games. and maybe even the act of telling and reading/watching/playing a story as a whole!
the first thing that comes to mind wrt this topic is, of course, kris. throughout deltarune chapter 1 and 2 we've been made to really think about what it means to control a video game character-- to control kris, and how it's actually... really horrifying. waking up one day with all sense of agency taken away from you, unable to do what YOU want to do, being controlled by someone else.
but its not just control that we're being told to rethink, its.... everything.
making us think about how, in the eyes of a video game character, playing a game is inherently cruel. player characters stripped of agency, made to just become a medium by which you control and affect their world. even characters who we can't control will be affected by us through our ability to interact with the world. noelle in the snowgrave route comes to mind.
the fate of everything is determined by you, the player, everyone else has lost the right to determine their own lives. you control what happens to them. you choose to play the snowgrave route. and you choose to make characters suffer by not only playing this route but playing it more than onceonce if you so wish.
maybe the characters do not know that rhe horrible events happening now have happened before but its still cruel. you've seen this horrible story once before and you are making it happen again. but you also have the power to help them, too.
i remember when undertale first came out, i read something. (not sure where. on Tumblr? on youtube? some other site?) I read about a particular player who got so attached to the world and characters that they played the pacifist route, gave the characters the best ending, and, in an attempt to give that world and its characters their happily ever after, put the executive for the game in a ZIP file and locked it with a password too complicated to remember.
all to make sure theyd never reset the game, even if they wanted to.
deltarune makes me think of that. a lot. and i think that's where the plot is going.
Okay this is the part of the post that actually examines the game and collects evidence for my point instead of just rambling. oops
i ended my last post on a bit of a "cliffhanger", when i was talking about how spamton's "heaven" is our world, and how it connects to the "angel's heaven" in the prophecy, but never elaborated on that last part.
i'm pretty sure that angel's heaven is the same as spamtons heaven, with us players being the angels in question. we and our world are given this heavenly theme for two reasons, i think:
heaven, angels, god etc i think are all related to the concept of creation and power and therefore, control. heaven and angels are immense beings of incredible power with the ability to do anything they want--in this case, controlling people, determining the fate of hometown, saving and resetting and deleting saves etc.
a heavenly theme contrasts well with the more....satanic themes you see with the characters of deltarune. if we are angels, then of course those who oppose as are going to be demons
and yes. i also believe that the angel in the deltarune logo is us, the players, while the three runes are kris, susie and ralsei.
so... now we know that the prophecy of the angels heaven is the same heaven as spamtons heaven, what does that prophecy even mean?
well, given how ive discussed that the very act of playing deltarune is cruel, i think the prophecy fortells kris & co getting rid of us, the player. how that happens gameplay wise i have no idea but it makes me think back to that thing i read about years ago-- people putting undertale in a ZIP file after acheiving the true pacifist ending, and locking it with a password never meant to be remembered, so they can never ruin that happy ending even if they wanted to.
also.... idk how to even connect this to my point but i just wanna mention it somehow so uhh.
fun (insane) fact: did you know that deltarune had its own website all the way back in fucking 2016???? that's like, ONE year after undertales release.
and the entire website was pitch black.
but it had an image in it, called him.png, which was also pitch black and thus blended with the rest of the website.
when you brightened the image, it had a message in wingdings
Tumblr media
when translated, it reads:
THREE HEROES APPEARED TO BANISH THE ANGEL'S HEAVEN
gaster knows all about it and i have a feeling that spamtons knowledge of heaven, angels, souls and so on and so forth come from gaster.
i wonder if gaster is the person responsible for the prophecy in the first place-- after being shatteree across time and space he learns of the existence of our real world and decides to put an end to us meddling with these worlds inside these games.
although.... he might want to ro something else entirely. if he really wanted to stop us, then why would he invite us to play deltarune? because the cryptic tweets sent by gaster at the time of deltarune's release all sound... inviting. he wants us to help him out somehow.
Tumblr media
he's so polite! it does not seem like someone who wants us gone.
unless it's a trap, or trick... that he's using us to learn how to get rid of us from meddling with the world of deltarune.
or maybe he wants something else... he wants to meld our worlds together.
man idk. that's it im out of ideas *_* if you read all the way here and also read my first two posts, first of all thank you and second of all im so sorry its so anticlimactic and all over the place. as i said im a bit unwell so my heads a bit hazy too. i might come back to this post and re-do it and clean it up more when i feel better!
