castle 5x15 target. Plot heavy babes. I remember seeing gifs from this ep & when I saw that this was the one I got super excited. Good thing I have an extra 15 minutes on my schedule.
The intro was great. here's the transcript: A man runs through an alley, avoiding puddles and trying not to fall. He does, but he’s up in a second and continuing his run. He jumps over a homeless man and into the street. There’s a van racing toward him, but he just takes a stance and starts shooting at it. Despite taking several hits, the van doesn’t stop. It plows right into the man. Why doesn't he get out of the way tho? he shot as much as she could
RC: Ah. The student becomes – (he chews and she waits) – the failed student. The dropout. You fed her this? (he grimaces) Mother, you are forever forbidden from practicing the art of pancake-do(ugh)
RC: Like Simba in The Lion King. It’s the circle of life.
I didn't know shoes did that irl... RC: Yeah, but I wouldn’t be okay with that. I don’t want to see where she goes. What other birds of prey are out there, or what other nests, or – btw becks is pretty man vs van lol Wow. I know we saw it but still.
Jan. New name for this uniformed officer. nice gun! Columbia? *concerned for his daughter* don't much like Bram stoker? Lmao (oh wow
BS: (dryly) Witty. I’ve never heard that one before. I grew up with a punny name. Joy. People said "you must be a joyful person" whenever they would meet me for the first time. I had depression. (not diagnosed yet ofc but still.)
Ah. Overly familiar. He threatened to kill you? Bro, you have authority behind you, this is not the time to be flirting. Vampires ARE in right now, just like a few seasons ago when ryan's ex girlfriend got them into a website
KR: *whistles* Look at this building. Hasim was living large for a college student. JE: Yeah, add that to the list of things about this dude that don’t add up. His records say he started as a freshman at 24. Now who does that? Me, in college: You would be surprised at the variance in age. But then again there is typically a lull. You either go in right after high school (or after a gap year) but then there are less ppl in there for a bit, & then they start coming back at maybe 30, 35. The majority of students I know in my term between 21 & 30 are international students. A lot of them have taken classes at home in the phillipenes & some are using a student visa to start immigration. Ofc the 24yo I do know who is not filipino was a meth addict & has a 3yo son so,, that's another explanation
empty place nope nvm just clean, that place is full of punching bags & stuff. Like esposito's. WOAH THAT IS A ... NICE.. CASE OF GUNS. Not locked or anything??? is this man insane? KR: Uh, yeah. And if his black belt skills didn’t get it done he always had this. light years measure distance...
only 24 & in special forces swiss bank accounts, as usual Nice hair on esposito RC: (shrugs) Maybe Jack Bauer was driving.
KIDNAPPING
ryan's shirt was pink in the other lighting & these stripes are interesting
These poor poor fellows, their daughter got abducted. I mean I like his tie they both look good... but this is sad bro the cops didn't know he was a discreet bodyguard
Agent Harris.
KB: Scared. Devastated. AH: Okay, that’s good. RC: It is? AH: It beats angry or defensive. They want to be helpful and honest,
RC: I've considered it
If the roommate wasn't listening too hard, science fiction is related enough to science. Could clip: It has the word in it Which I still haven't read XD
Oh NO I'm sure she can help solve the case... nice ringtone lol OH NO IT WAS ALEXIS lol nice pic of dad is sara's phone also there?
RC earlier: Oh, yeah. I just – can’t imagine what they’re going through right now. RC now: *his daughter was ALSO kidnapped*
Harris: Easier to take her than.. *looks at castle* not
Looks like a drug smuggler tbh Ah he fled. Could be political. If they find out she is the daughter of a rich novelist then they might use sara for political stuff & alexis for ransom.
Gates will just see friends comforting each other, it's fine
Oof they all watch him leave... KR: It’s Alexis. He’s gotta be wrecked. Hell, I’m wrecked. allexis AND Sara
MR: No, no, no. I’m not just saying this. She’s going to be all right. I feel it in my heart and my heart is never wrong. RC: What about your first marriage? MR: Well... RC: And your second? MR: Okay, fine. Fine. Occasionally my heart is wrong, but it is not in this case.
Plainclothes & unmarked, wise decision.
Aww looking at her school photos NO SHE HAS GIVEN INFORMATION ABOUT WHERE & WHEN SHE SKATES BEFORE NO NO FREAKING IDIOT ASDJFKLSDFASHGSDCJF
RC: Don’t. (she goes to respond, but doesn’t) Don’t promise me you’ll find her unless you can do it. Because … (he pauses, then his voice breaks) … I would never forgive you. (she’s quiet) Any more than I’d ever forgive myself.
It is already late, what's going on?
LT my beloved
No, she didn't call be she has no GOOD news, she might not have bad news either. If she was dead, she'd call, if she was alive, she'd call, if they are not sure, they'd rather keep him in the dark. Probs should stay home, don't come.
See what? Do they KNOW what they will see?
DP & camera crew & editing & all this stuff did really great. The way lanie stops him it is so important to me, the movement the camera the voice, I might clip this it is painful & beautiful
a+ like me! I should donate blood again. I need more iron tho. Your baby hhhhhh castle crying sdjsldkfsdjfksdfljsldfjk Castle they know how to do this
Castle should go hug the other couple. He has worked with the police, he can support them in knowing the cops are succeeding, they can support him in being emotionally distraught parents together.
Truck pod? Why are the lamps on? ig so the girls can find them & don't freak out. Why didn't they get dropped on the bed initially tho? instead of waking up on the floor?
I JUST GOT CALLED IN FOR WORK GOSH HECK IT. & I DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO TRY TO CATCH THE BUS THAT WOULD GET ME THERE HALF AN HOUR EARLY SO I'M GOING TO HAVE ONLY FIVE MINUTES TO GET IN, IRON MY CLOTHES, CHANGE, & GET ON THE LINE. GRRRR
I'm back.
I like her accent Ooh a course on security Both your dads are rich Wow alexis has Some Shoes (& also rings) At least they gave you clothes & towels.... & food
Ooh that car stuff sounds cool but I don't understand any of it
You know they want you alive, you know this room has a washroom Ryan looking nice ngl I genuinely thought that Ryan meant he was dead
You would... like a minute with him? Good, he's the dad, maybe he can get emotion on his side I'm not a cop This is SO SO SO intimidating. this is GOOD WHAT THE CRAP (it might be,, traumatizing to torture someone)
No thanks my adrenaline will suffice
Nice telescope
relationship w/o eye contact lmao. I mean, audio amiright?
KB: Tell me what happened with Douglas Stevens. RC: RC: I appealed to his humanity. KB: KB: I didn’t think you had that side to you. RC: Well, when it comes to the people I love, I do.
My mother knows a little bit of arabic. Like, ten words
Didn't he see the cams on his telescope? I like how the fbi yelled out that they had a search warrant
Tiny person!
Then why did they say "return to your post we have visitors" if they were not the fbi visiting the farmhouse?
(caskett double breasted jacket) WHY would they leave the jackets? why would they take them off? OH MY GOODNESS HOLY CRAP WHY WOULD THEY TORTURE HIM? HOW DOES THE FBI NOT KNOW?
Through the floor? The floor is already breaking, maybe you could use the lid of the toilet tank as a shovel
I mean, you aren't at square one, you just have no squares after this
I mean you know the theory & even if it takes hours... Sara YOU were the one who took the kidnapping course take off your shoes to be quiet Is this real-time footage? Why is the phone unlocked? The person it belongs to must be coming back soon *uses skype instead of calling her dad* Plus, did she have to log in? No it is an untitled caller Girl you have like, a good 15% left Girl take the phone with you maybe, esp if you happen to find a window or a person's face
that was NOT (our) ryan saying that lol the cant FUDGING PARIS the rooftop this is incredible

keiji akaashi
confessions behind the school building
were you nervous about finally confessing your feelings to akaashi on valentine’s day of all days? absolutely
he was one of, if not the prettiest, impressively athletic, and overwhelmingly intelligent boys in your class
he probably got at least ten confessions on the daily
and valentine’s day simply doubled the number
and here you were, with your tiny valentine’s day card and box of chocolates in hand
you had heard from all the girls that he had been turning down confessions left and right, only adding onto your mountain of nerves
little did you know that he was waiting for you
cherry blossoms bloomed above your heads, falling gracefully like something right out of a shoujo anime. you tapped the tip of your shoe against the pavement, a nervous tick you had garnered that helped keep you grounded. this was it. this was the moment today was leading up to. you and akaashi were standing behind fukurodani, stealing away a bit of privacy. you didn’t need the prying eyes of the other girls watching as you confessed to your year long crush.
akaashi waited with a patient gaze, unmoving from his spot a few feet ahead of you. he gave you space, and didn’t force you to talk right away. it was as if he already knew the intricacies of your thoughts, the way your mind spiraled if you were suddenly put on the spot, especially when it was as intimate and open as confessing your feelings.
“i wanted to tell you, i mean- what i’ve been trying to tell you for years is that i, well,” your tongue felt like it was two sizes too big. your fingers fidgeted behind your back, holding onto the tiny note and chocolates you had made for him yourself. “i like you a lot more than i really let on. you’re always so thoughtful and considerate. you listen to me when i ramble, and you help me with homework or even small things i don’t completely understand. that’s um, that’s really nice of you. i know you’ve probably received a lot of gifts today, but if you could spare a bit of your backpack space to accept mine, it would mean the world to me.” you bowed towards him, eyes glued to the floor as you held out the small box of chocolates and the note you had written.
you didn’t catch the way a smile tugged at his usually stoic features, or the way he tilted his head in thought while wondering how much courage you mustered up to confess like this. still, you felt nimble fingers brushing against yours, the weight of your gift leaving your grip.
“thank you, y/n,” akaashi told you gratefully as you stood up to your full height, “i’m glad that you feel the same as i do.”
“... wait what.”
Tumblr media
kenma kozume
heart shaped candies
kenma rarely has plans for valentine’s day tbh
he treats it like any other day because it’s just a day to play some animal crossing and farm more on stardew valley
however, when you waltz into his life, he panics a little bit as the date draws closer
he wants to make you feel special on valentine’s day
he settled for those tiny heart shaped candies, knowing that you had quite the sweet tooth
he wasn’t gonna leave you hanging on valentine’s day, sweetheart
kenma held your hand in his as the two of you walked home together. the day was rainy, small droplets of water pattering against the shared umbrella the two of you were situated beneath. you were talking about school, something or other about the clubs you were in and how passionate you were about starting your very own this year. kenma listened tentatively, an easy smile on his face as he watched your eyes light up and your free hand gesture and fly about as you spoke.
you were adorable.
the two of you soon arrived at your house, and you promised kenma that you would call him tonight so the two of you could play games or watch some netflix together over the internet. you two had been particularly invested in some k-drama that always left the two of you at the edge of your seats. you planted a gentle kiss to his cheek, his face erupting in crimson right to the tips of his ears. giggling quietly, you wished him goodbye, your hand beginning to slide from his as you went to leave. to your surprise, he held on tighter.
with his gaze cast down, you watched as he pulled out a tiny bag of heart shaped candies from his pocket. “i know it’s not much, but i saw everyone else getting their partners gifts and kuroo said that it would be good if i got you something too.”
you accepted his small token of affection with shaky hands and flushed cheeks. peering inside the clear bag, you saw a whole collection of multi-coloured candies reading cheesy phrases such as ‘b mine’, ‘true love’ or even a ‘cutiepie.’
“kenma, i love it. oh my.. haha! i thought you forgot since you didn’t mention anything about gifts for today.” kenma’s hand squeezed yours, his eyes lifting from the wet ground to meet your own with a small yet confident smile.
“i wouldn’t forget something as important as you.”
Tumblr media
yuu nishinoya
big teddy bears
an absolutely chaotic mess on valentine’s day
he’s so excited that he finally has someone to spoil, so he wants to go all out
he figured that the best present to get you was the biggest teddy bear he could find
he went to 6 stores and dragged asahi and tanaka with him
he saw a teddy bear that was literally twice his size and went “I’LL TAKE IT”
mans has no chill, he spent literally his entire allowance on it
his grandpa didn’t even bat an eye PFFT
when nishinoya showed up at your doorstep with a chunky teddy bear in tow, you had no words. truly. it had been at the stroke of midnight when he texted you to come outside and see the valentine’s gift he had gotten you. you had said that this could wait until morning, but he insisted that this could not wait another moment. it was technically valentine’s day, after all! this resulted in you dragging yourself down the stairs of your home to greet him at the door. to your surprise, yet at the same time not surprising you in the slightest, was noya carrying the largest teddy bear you had ever laid your eyes on. not only that, but tanaka and what appeared to be a very exhausted asahi accompanied him.
“y/n-chan!” nishinoya shouted boldly and triumphantly, getting down on one knee which instantly made you panic. he wasn’t going to propose, was he? no he wouldn’t. would he? oh god. your words got caught in your throat, trying to formulate some kind of response to his sudden and incoming declaration. yet, a proposal never came. he held up the teddy bear as if it were simba from the lion king, the entire stuffed animal basically shielding his shorter form from your view. you suppressed a snort with your hand.
“i searched far and wide for this gigantic teddy bear for you, please accept it this valentine’s day!” nishinoya said loud and clear from behind the bear. you were having trouble stifling your laughter because from your angle, it looked like the bear itself was saying these words to you. you attempted to take the huge bear from his arms but it ended up being a lot heavier than you anticipated.
“noya, really this is-”
“take the picture!” noya whisper shouted to tanaka, who was holding up his phone camera with a thumbs up. noya posed beside you with an arm tossed around your waist, throwing up a peace sign and sticking out his tongue. leave it to yuu nishinoya to spoil you with the biggest bear he could find. it was incredibly endearing, especially when you found out from asahi that he nearly got kicked out from a walmart after knocking down the entire teddy bear display. he could be the biggest dork sometimes. but you wouldn’t trade him for the world.
Tumblr media
koushi sugawara
baking together
he saw the idea on pinterest and he had to try it out with you
they were cupcakes red velvet with pink, buttercream frosting
easy, right? it would be a cute little date, you could even stay over at his house while you watched a romcom or something of the sort while they were baking
turns out it wasn’t easy
at all
“shit fuck, oh god- shit!” koushi mumbled to himself as he was spilling some of the red cupcake mix over the side of the bowl. you were trying your best not to laugh too much but you couldn’t help your giggles when koushi shot you a playfully annoyed glare, his nose powered with sugar and flourmaking him look straight out of a victorian magazine. baking with koushi had gone just as well as you thought it would. there was a lot of flour being thrown around, a few stray chocolate chips and sprinkles now on the floor serving as reminders of past quarrels. koushi had always been a rather chaotic individual behind his “soft boy” demeanour he liked to flaunt. he could be so goofy and fun. he could be your greatest hype man but also the person you knew could be in your corner when it counted. and here the two of you were, making a mess in your shared kitchen at nine at night for a valentine’s day date.
“honey, you’re mixing it too fast!”
“i’m mixing it just fine, see look! it’s supposed to be this thick,” his ahoge bobbed back and forth atop his head as he mixed with quite literally his entire torso. his tongue poked out of the corner of his mouth as he focused hardcore on the making sure the mixture was abolished of any and all chunkiness present. you rolled your eyes, a wide smile on your face despite his stubbornness. “the oven’s been preheating for thirty minutes now.”
“well the oven can wait,” he huffed, tapping the neck of the whisk against the bowl to remove the excess mix before grabbing a ladle to begin scooping all the mix into the muffin tin. not without another mess, of course.
“kou, stop moving the—”
“i’m not moving anything, you’re just making me laugh!”
“hand me the spoon, hand it over.”
“it’s not a spoon!”
“it’s a big ass spoon.”
“y/n!”
you were bickering like an old married couple as your hands reached greedily for the ladle that already had some cupcake mix in it. koushi held it out of your reach, causing him to back up into the counter while you hopped in an attempt to get it back. in your desperate attempts, you slipped on the flour from your little past war and caused the two of you to collapse to the floor in a heap of giggles and laughter.
yeah, you two would definitely never be touching any sort of recipe after that day, you absolute menaces.

glitter + crimson (let’s start a riot)//part one
“and that’s sailor, our resident mermaid, shell collector, surfer chick, and all-around ray of sunshine. she’s always down for a kegger at the boneyard so she can show off her dance moves; they’re not the best but she doesn’t let that stop her from getting down. her mom owns the surf shop on the beach, that’s how jj and i met her when we bought our first boards when we were ten. she’s been part of the crew ever since.” ~john b routledge
pogue sailor flynn just wants to have a great time with her friends this summer and try to ignore the fact that her flight-risk dad took off again to gamble his life (and her family's savings) away in atlantic city, leaving her with a mom who doesn't know how to cope. between surfing at the beach and cruising around on the hms pogue for hours, it's easy to keep her mind off her shitty home life. what isn't so easy though, is trying to deny her feelings for her best friend, jj.
summary: the pogues hit the beach for a day of sand, surf, and shells. sailor commandeers a hat, willingly participates in cardio, makes bank, and has a heart-to-heart with jj.
word count: 4k+
ship: jj maybank x oc (sailor flynn)
warnings: mentions of abuse/neglect/parental abandonment, swearing, fluff, a lot of flirting
a/n: hi there! i’ve had this little plot bunny in my head for a few weeks now and it wouldn’t leave me alone so here we are! this is the first piece of writing i’ve posted in a very long time so i apologize in advance if it’s terrible. i’m planning on this whole thing being at least eight to ten parts so get ready for the long haul! i actually split this into two parts cause my word count was insane and way too long for one post lmao. let me know what you guys think! title comes from “glitter & crimson” by all time low. also this is unbetaed, so i apologize for any mistakes.
another quick thing: i tried writing this with sailor as an unnamed or y/n reader but it just wasn’t the best. i adore fleshing out characters and i had so many good ideas for her backstory and personality that she kind of just wrote herself and i went with it. i hope you all enjoy reading about sailor as much as i enjoyed writing her!

part one: catching waves
The beach has always been special to Sailor; the soothing crash of waves against the shore, the warmth of sand under her feet, the comforting feeling of salt drying on her skin. It’s where her mother taught her to surf, where her father taught her to dive, where her friends taught her that family didn’t always mean having shared blood. It’s her home, her place, her safe haven. Nothing is more perfect than a day at the beach with the pogues, her board, and a bucket for shells.
Today is shaping up to be one of those days. The weather’s balmy, the water’s clear, and most importantly, she hasn’t seen these many perfect shells in quite awhile. Sailor reaches out and grabs the delicate golden scotch bonnet from the ocean floor, inspecting it closely for any cracks or holes. When she finds none, she smiles and runs her fingers over its smooth surface, marveling at the way the sun’s rays filter through the water and make the entire shell shine brilliantly. Although she sells most of the shells she finds at her mom’s surf shop (or gifts them to her friends), this one’s going to be proudly displayed on the shelf in her room.
She scans the sand for her next target before pushing off from the floor and heading to the surface where Kiara floats on her board, legs dangling in the water as she watches the rest of their group surf.
“Kie, check this out! It’s a scotch bonnet!” She exclaims, placing the shell beside the half full bucket in front of her friend. Resting both arms on the board, she lets herself take a quick breather as the other girl gently picks up her treasure and turns it over in her hands.
“Holy shit, how do you always find the good ones?” She asks, gently putting it into the bucket with the others as Sailor shrugs, tucking a wet strand of red hair behind her ear.
“You guys always say I’m part mermaid, so...” Kiara rolls her eyes and splashes her friend, who just laughs. “Are you done now? We can’t let the guys have all the fun.”
“Almost, there’s a gorgeous whelk down there that I have to have. Be right back!”
She dives before the dark haired girl can reply, swimming down twenty feet to where she spotted the shell. When she was younger, she used to find the pressure on her ears a bit painful but now she hardly notices, instead focusing on the muffled sound of the waves above. Down here it’s just her and the water: peaceful, quiet, and oh so beautiful, infinitely stretching out in front of her. It used to scare her, the vastness of the deep ocean, the secrets lurking in its depths, the unknown. Now, it brings her comfort. Inspiration. Hope.
She plucks the shell from the sand and heads back the the surface, where three more boards have joined Kiara’s. She swims straight under Pope’s, knowing he’s the most ticklish of the group, and runs the tip of the whelk along the sole of his foot. His yell is so loud she can hear it clear as day under the water and she laughs bubbles as his board wobbles before he topples over with a splash. The other three are still laughing as she surfaces beside her fallen friend and feigns shock.
“What happened? Did he touch a fish again?”
“Oh ha fucking ha. So funny.” Pope deadpans but he’s smiling as Sailor holds his board steady so he can climb back on. “I’m surprised you actually touched my foot, Miss Feet Are Disgusting.”
“First off, smelly, dirty feet are gross. And second, I didn’t,” She replies, pulling herself onto JJ’s board without warning and laughing as he nearly falls off just as Pope had. She sticks her tongue out at him as he shoots her a mock glare and shifts closer to he for balance, their knees knocking together.
“This did, here.” She holds the shell out to Pope, who inspects it like Kiara had done earlier and nods in approval before passing it off to John B.
“It’s...nice, right? It’s a good one?” He asks as he hands it over to Kiara. She meets Sailor’s eyes and shakes her head, mouthing ‘boys’ while carefully placing the whelk in the bucket.
“Seriously, JB-”
“Whoa, wait! I don’t get to see it?” JJ pouts, crossing his arms over his chest and Sailor fixes him with a flat look.
“I seem to remember that you, like a damn child, dropped and broke the last one I let you hold.”
John B laughs so hard he nearly falls off his board while Pope and Kiara glance at each other and hide matching snickers behind their hands. JJ has the decency to look embarrassed as he pleads with her and she tells herself that the slight flush creeping up the back of his neck is just from too much time in the sun, nothing more.
“Hey, I said I was sorry for that and I meant it! I swear I’ll be more careful, please, Sail?”
Trying her best to ignore the little thrill she feels at the sound of her nickname coming from his mouth, she relents with a sigh, “Fine, on one condition.”
He looks at her expectantly as she holds up one finger and points at the black hat turned backwards on his head.
“Gimme that, I can feel my scalp burning as we speak.”
“Holy shit, you’re such a fucking ginger,” He laughs but pulls the cap off anyway, running a hand through his blond hair before fixing it on her head properly, the bill facing forward and giving her eyes a much needed break from the bright summer sun. She only hopes her face feels hot as he lays one hand on her knee and holds the other out to Kiara, palm up. “Fork it over, Kie.”
Kiara hands it to him with a roll of her eyes and then fixes Sailor with a pointed look that the redhead pretends not to see; instead, she watches JJ carefully turn the shell over in his hand before holding it aloft, like Rafiki held Simba in The Lion King.
“Listen up, class- especially you,” He says, the hand resting against her leg pointing at John B, who looks affronted at being called out, much to the amusement of the rest of the group, “This here is a lightning whelk and yes, JB, as a matter of fact, it’s a great one. No holes, minimal damage, and defined markings. Ten out of ten would recommend.”
He passes the shell to Kiara with a satisfied grin as everyone sits in stunned silence, just bobbing up and down with the waves until Pope finally says, “Damn. Better watch out, Sailor! We’ve got a new shell expert in town.”
“Yeah, I don’t think so. I’m not giving up the crown that easily.” As the others burst into laughter, she turns to JJ and pokes him in the side, asking, “Since when you know so much?”
The look he gives her is all mock offense, but his blue eyes are soft as he says, “I always listen when you talk, you know.”
His answer catches her so off-guard that she tries and fails to form a coherent reply as her face flushes before settling on giving him a sweet smile, which he returns with a playful tug on one of the tiny braids in her hair. Out of the corner of her eye, she can see Kiara staring at them with a devious smirk on her face and she knows she’ll be hearing about this later.
“Enough shell talk- no offense, Sail,” John B says, steering his board toward the waves. “We’ve got surfing to do.”
Sailor waves her hand dismissively then reaches over and grabs the bucket from Kiara. “None taken, I’m just gonna drop these off at the shop real quick and I’ll be right back.”
“I’ll go with,” JJ says, popping up onto his knees and turning his board toward the shore. “After all,” He yells toward the rest of the pogues over his shoulder, “you guys need all the practice you can get!” He winks at Sailor and she laughs as she turns to face forward, pulling her legs onto the board and placing the bucket in her lap while the other three flip him off in perfect unison.
The two teenagers paddle toward the beach together and catch a small wave that shoots them straight to shore. JJ holds the board steady as she hops off and then touches his shoulder in thanks before they walk toward where Sailor’s own board is propped in the warm sand with their things. She puts the bucket down and kneels beside it, carefully digging through the haul to find the scotch bonnet.
“There you are, gorgeous.”
“I didn’t go anywhere, babe.”
She snorts at JJ’s quip but doesn’t give him the satisfaction of looking up from wrapping the shell in a small towel and placing it in her backpack (she does blush though, and hopes he doesn’t notice.). As she stands to pull on her shorts, the redhead can’t help but glance at the lightning whelk, sitting pretty in the sand where she put it while looking for the bonnet. It really is beautiful, a ten out of ten as JJ put it, and damn it, she just can’t let it go to some touron who won’t appreciate it. So before she can change her mind, she kneels again to wrap it in another towel and gently nestles it alongside the other shell.
“Chop chop, time’s a wastin.’“ He says, grabbing the bucket with one hand and holding the other out to her; she rolls her eyes but takes it anyway and lets him pull her to her feet, muttering, “Jesus, you’re impatient.”
“It’s all part of the charm. Come on, race ya!” After a quick squeeze to her hand, he drops it and takes off running toward the shop without warning, leaving Sailor scrambling to catch up as she yells, “If you break those shells you’re buying them, Maybank!”
The duo weaves through the crowd of tourons and natives alike, ignoring the dirty looks thrown their way as they run by, kicking sand up in their wake. Fifty feet ahead stands The Sandbar Surf Shop in all its salt-weathered, sun-bleached glory, all but two of the rental boards gone from the stand out front. Alison sits on a stool with one of them on her lap as she waxes it, the boom box resting on the floor beside her blasting The Beach Boys as usual. She looks up in surprise as Sailor bounds onto the deck and slaps her hand against the shop’s door a few seconds before JJ does, both teenagers out of breath.
“Sweet victory!” The redhead shouts, sending a quick wave toward Alison, who returns it with an amused smile and watches the blond roll his eyes, holding the shell bucket close to his chest like a football.
“Victory my ass! I saw you jump over that cooler and that’s cheating.”
“Oh, I cheated? Who gave himself a head start? Oh yeah, you!”
Alison returns the now waxed board to the rack and wipes her hands on a spare rag. “Sounds like you both cheated, so no one wins.” She says with a shrug, chuckling to herself as they both stutter excuses and follow the older redheaded girl into the shop, empty sans for a young boy browsing the display of shells.
“I’ll get your mom.” She says to Sailor before heading through the beaded curtain to the back room and she’s grateful. She doesn’t think she has the strength to go back there anymore.
“I was carrying extra weight,” JJ says, placing the bucket onto the old surfboard-turned-counter and then leaning his back against it, “so I think the head start was justified.”
Sailor props her chin in her hand and drums her fingers along the board’s worn surface, her eyebrow raised. “And I think my jump was justified considering I had some ground to make up from that head start so...”
“Agree to disagree.” They say together, sharing a quick smile before he picks a pair of heart shaped glasses from the stand and puts them on, looking at her over the neon pink frames as he asks in a high-pitched British accent, “What do you think, darling? Too much?”
“No, I think they’re quite dashing!” She bursts out laughing as he strikes a vogue pose, then spins and dramatically leans back against the counter. “Rock that pink.”
“Hell yeah, fuck gender norms!” He says loudly, both middle fingers raised toward the roof.
“In this house, we stan non-toxic masculinity-” she starts, but she’s interrupted by a stern voice from behind the counter that says, “If you’re not going to buy those, put ‘em back, kid.”
Sailor’s mother sweeps into view and stares pointedly at JJ, who hastily stands up straight and returns the glasses to their place on the display as Alison silently heads back outside, shooting both teens a small, awkward smile.
“Sorry, Mrs. Flynn.”
Sailor wants to tell him there’s nothing to apologize for, that he did nothing wrong, but she knows he already knows that, so instead she just scoots a little closer and presses her hip against his. His hand moves to rest on her lower back in thanks and her whole body feels the sparks from his touch.
“I-I found some good ones today, Mom.” She says, pulling shells from the bucket one by one and lining them up on the counter. “A few coquinas, some scallops, a whelk or two...”
She trails off when Carmen doesn’t respond and looks down at her hands, twisting her fingers together anxiously as her mother inspects each shell. her face blank. JJ’s thumb starts to run tiny circles on her back and she concentrates on the feel of his ring, warm and soothing against her bare skin, instead of the fact that her mother hasn’t even glanced her way yet. She hasn’t looked her in the eye in almost three months.
The silence is thick in the air until Carmen finishes her evaluation and gives a small nod in her daughter’s direction. “Good job.” She says, heading to the register and pulling out some cash before counting out five twenties and holding them out to Sailor, her eyes fixed on a point somewhere over the teenager’s shoulder. She swallows thickly and takes the money with a near inaudible thank you, slipping it into her back pocket before grabbing the now empty bucket and nudging JJ toward the door with her hip.
As she’s about to cross the threshold she pauses with one hand on the door frame and turns back, asking, “Hey, Mom? Are...are you gonna come home tonight?”
Carmen’s brown eyes only meet her green ones for a split second before she looks away to fiddle with the register and Sailor can’t help feeling the dull stab of disappointment as she says, “Oh, um, I don’t think so. I’m pretty busy here with, uh, inventory, bookkeeping...”
(That stab used to be sharp as a knife, cutting her to the bone, but she’s almost gotten used to the pain.)
“Oh, right. Just...text me if you do, okay?” She takes one last look at her mother, bathed in the cool shadows of the shop that’s tearing her apart before turning and stepping back into the bright sunlight without another word, her throat tight. She’s not sure Carmen was even listening anymore.
“See ya later, brat.” Alison calls to her as she lets the screen door swing shut behind her with a slight bang. The older girl may not be related to her by blood but she’s most definitely Sailor’s honorary big sister, having babysat her for years in addition to working at the shop, so she waves to her with a small smile and a “bye, ho” before joining JJ on the beach.
The duo slowly starts walking along the water together, a stark contrast from their earlier mad dash and Sailor’s mind races with a million thoughts, most of them her hating herself for foolishly putting a scrap of faith in her mom once again.
“Whoa, you okay? That bucket’s not going anywhere, promise.” He says, pulling them to a stop with a gentle tug on her elbow and reaching down to take it from her clenched hand. She doesn’t even realize she was holding it that hard until she sees the little half moons pressed into her palm from her nails and she sighs, rubbing them away with her thumb.
Opening up has always been something Sailor struggles with, even with a friend group as close as the pogues. She’s the one who’s all sunshine and good vibes, the one everyone goes to for cheering up, the one that’s always...happy. She’s the friend who listens, the open ear, the trusted confidante. She knows all her friends struggles: John B’s fear of being abandoned that often keeps him up at night, Kiara’s terrible guilt over leaving her friends behind during her kook year, Pope’s feeling of drowning under his dad’s impossible expectations, JJ’s abusive household that has him convinced he’s not worthy of love. Every secret she holds close to her heart, guarding them with impenetrable walls that no one can break through.
The walls protecting her own secrets, though? They may be strong around the others but they crumble like sand when she’s alone with the boy standing beside her, his hand still holding her elbow as he starts drawing circles on her skin once again. Talking to JJ has always come easy to her, almost infuriatingly so, and she has no qualms about calling him her best friend. While the other pogues know she’s been having some problems at home with her flight-risk dad and indifferent mom, none of them know almost the full story like he does, just as none of them know exactly how horrible his father really is.
(She knows. She’s seen the aftermath far too often and has been there each time, cleaning cuts, soothing bruises, holding him in her arms and never wanting to let him go.)
“I just...don’t know what to do anymore.” She can feel him watching her as she talks and she avoids his gaze like her mother avoided hers, instead staring out at the ocean. In the distance, she sees one of their friends -Kiara, she thinks- drop in on a wave while the other two look on a little further away. “She won’t even look at me and I don’t know what I did wrong.”
“Hey, it’s not you, got it? God, you’re...perfect, Sail.” JJ says softly, so soft that the crashing surf nearly drowns the sound of his voice as the water washes over their bare feet. Sailor curses the fact that she blushes so easily because her whole face is on fire at his words, and she’s so distracted that she almost misses what he says next.
“Your mom’s always, uh, weird when your dad dips. It’ll be better when he comes back.”
Her heart clenches in her chest. If only it were that simple. She turns to face him and meets his eyes, blue as the ocean, open and honest, and sends him a smile that lacks its usual brightness. “I think you might be right, J. For once.”
His thumb stills on the crook of her elbow and she knows he knows she’s not telling him everything. She feels like she should say something, anything- apologize, explain herself, just tell him the damn truth- but before she can even open her mouth he says, “Listen, I get it.”
She can feel the hand on her arm start to slip away and she grabs it between both of hers, her voice tight as she says, “No, you listen. Today’s been...so perfect and I don’t wanna bring everyone down with my problems.”
“You know they won’t mind.”
(She does, but that’s beside the point.)
“I know they won’t, but I do.”
It’s her turn to run her thumb in circles on the back of his hand now as she continues, “I’ll tell you everything later, okay?”
“You don’t have to-” He starts but she smiles, genuine and bright this time, and cuts him off.
“I want to, J. And I will, promise.” Like a child, she holds her pinky out expectantly. He quickly glances down at her hand and then meets her eyes again before finally returning her smile, showing off that dimple that makes her heart skip a beat, and hooking his finger around hers.
“Come on, we’ve got waves to catch and friends to show up.” He says and just like that they’re back to normal. Sailor’s hyper aware of the fact that her pinky is still linked with JJ’s, but he doesn’t pull away as they start walking back to their things again and she can’t help but hold on a little tighter. She doesn’t think he notices until he walks a little closer, his shoulder brushing hers; out of the corner of her eye, she sees him smile and feels herself mirroring him without a thought, her cheeks turning as red as her hair.
Talking with him may be the easiest thing to do for her, but flirting comes in a close second. It’s natural: the teasing, the casual touches, and especially the clothes stealing (a good fifth of her sweatshirts probably actually belong to him). He’s the biggest flirt she knows, with that bad boy swagger and killer smile that make all the giggling touron girls fall over themselves to get to him. She tells herself it’s fine, that she’s so not jealous, when he dances with them at keggers on the beach, whispering things in their ears that make them blush, taking their hands and leading them away to dark corners or the spare room at the Chateau. After all, there’s the one golden rule of their group: no pogue on pogue macking, so friends is all they’ll ever be, all they can be.
She tells herself she’s fine with it, really. Being his friend is better than being nothing at all, and she wouldn’t trade his friendship for the world. Deep down though, she’d give anything to kiss him again -the first time was when she was eleven and JJ had just turned twelve, awkward yet sweet, the day she first saw the full extent of his dad’s abuse- but she holds herself back, unwilling to ruin the relationship that means so much to her. And sometimes, like now, she thinks (hopes) that he’s holding back, too.
Their pinkies linger together when they come to a stop at their things, both holding on just a bit longer than what’s considered friendly before their hands drop away. Sailor feels his eyes on her as she pulls off her shorts, money still in the back pocket, and stuffs them in her bag.
(So she just might’ve taken them off a little bit -okay, a lot- slower because he was watching, sue her.)
“I hope you know this is mine, now.” She points to his hat before freeing her board from the sand and waiting for him to do the same, hand on her hip.
“It looks better on you, anyway. Here,” He says, taking a step closer and reaching up with one hand to turn the cap backwards. “Don’t want you to lose it.” His finger brushes along her jaw when he drops his arm and she feels her breath catch as she replies, “Wouldn’t dream of it.”
JJ smiles at that, then nods toward the waves. “Race ya? I’ll play fair this time.”
“Nah, but I’m glad you can admit that you cheated!” She says, pausing for a second to laugh at the way his jaw drops before she takes off running and leaves him hurrying to catch up. “I’m proud of you!”
“I changed my mind, I want my hat back now, Flynn!” He yells after her and she just laughs harder as they splash into the ocean.

Bitcoin breaks $40,000 and sets its sights on a new all-time high, ETH fees spike as a new price record is set, and Elon Musk really loves Dogecoin.
Published every Saturday, Hodler’s Digest helps you stay on top of all the week’s important news. The best (and worst) quotes, adoption and regulatory highlights, highlights, predictions and more – the week at Cointelegraph in one link.
This week’s headlines
Tumblr media
Bitcoin sees $50,000 less than a month after the price of BTC broke its 2017 record.
Bitcoin is showing signs of a new rally after passing the $40,000 resistance zone, fueling hopes for a new record.
It will be very important for Bitcoin to stay above this level in the near future. This comes days after MicroStrategy exposed more than 1,400 companies to Bitcoin.
According to Michel van de Poppe, analyst at Cointelegraph Markets, BTC’s strength means that its market dominance is being restored at the expense of most altcoins.
He added, “However, an apparent break above the historical record of $42,000 should take the price of bitcoin to $50,000.”
Bitcoin has crossed the $40,000 mark for the first time in 23 days, but this time market sentiment is much calmer and the derivatives market is not as overheated.
Some establishments took advantage of this week’s blowout to take money off the table. Ruffer Investment, for example, made a $650 million profit after doubling its cash flow in just two months.
With the Ethereum price reaching $1,750, the royalty of the Ethereum network has reached its highest level ever.
ETH set new records this week, moving closer and closer to $2,000.
After trading at $1,756.51, the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency has fallen slightly to $1,672.99 at the time of writing.
This record is due to the intense interest in theFi components, many of which use the Ethereum network as a backbone. Expectations have also been driven up by the launch of CME Group Ether futures.
There is only one problem: the price of gasoline is rising. This week, transaction fees rose so much that some exchanges no longer accept gas.
Blockstream’s developer, Mr. Grubles, fears that this could affect the proper functioning of DeFi protocols: “This is a legitimate crisis. We will have to stock up on popcorn to see how Ethereum will fare”.
“Welcome” – DOGE rises after Elon Musk returns to Twitter … to force the coin
To some extent, the rise in crypto prices can be attributed to Elon Musk. For reasons unknown, the richest man in the world is obsessed with Dogecoin.
Tesla’s CEO caused quite a stir this week when he shared a fake photo of him dressed as Rafiki from “The Lion King,” with Simba inu shiba on top of his face in the famous scene where the cub is held aloft on “Pride of the Rock.”
Musk helped DOGE get off the ground this week, but the comments he made in a club discussion about bitcoin did not have the same impact as last Friday, when BTC jumped several thousand dollars because Musk added #bitcoin to his Twitter bio.
During a conversation at the club, the billionaire reportedly said, “I’m late to the party, but I’m a Bitcoin supporter.
This week, a new study looked at Musk’s tweet six times about BTC or DOGE, and concluded that his comments caused price spikes and a “significant increase” in trading volume.
But an article in the Blockchain Research Lab warns, “While Musk’s behavior and communications may be considered positive or fun (and thus perhaps uncritical), similar studies have already shown that negative tweets can also have a negative impact on financial results.”
The rage to win: XRP price drops 50% after reaching its highest level in two weeks
XRP was the subject of a commercial frenzy last week, with an 86% breakthrough after it became the new focal point of r/Satoshistreetbets, a spin-off of r/Wallstreetbets.
The pump came while XRP’s legal troubles showed no sign of stopping, and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) confronted Ripple later this month.
On February 1 at 8:30 am (Eastern Time), the Telegram and Discord chat prompted people to buy XRP en masse, but as expected, the pump ended in tears. Within two hours, Altcoin fell by almost 50%…. , scaring off new investors.
Keith Waring tweeted, the coin dealer, “Although the $XRP army will be aggressive if you warn them about the elephant in the coin’s escrow form, I can’t help but feel sorry for those who bought at .75c today. X R (I)P”.
PayPal offers encrypted payments to merchants, limited exchanges on Venmo
PayPal revealed that its crypto commerce service has “exceeded expectations” since its limited launch in the United States.
The payments giant now plans to focus on encrypted, chain and digital currencies in 2021, with a “significant” investment in the new entity. According to the company, those who bought Bitcoin ended up putting twice as much money into the system as before.
After an “excellent response,” CEO Dan Schulman said that crypto will be offered as a funding source later this quarter when users store at one of PayPal’s 29 million merchants, and that a “full roadmap” of new services will follow.
In November, PayPal took a big step toward digital assets by allowing its U.S. users to buy cryptocurrencies directly through the application. US-based customers are limited to $20,000 per week. Since then, the volume of cryptocurrency transactions on the platform has reached record levels, peaking on January 11 with $242 million in transactions.
Winners and losers
Tumblr media
At the end of the week, Bitcoin stands at $40,776.40, Ether at $1,676.86 and XRP at $0.44. The total market capitalization is $1,218,786,711,013.
Among the top 100 cryptocurrencies, the top three altcoin players of the week are UMA, 0x and PancakeSwap. The first three altcoins of the week were lost against HedgeTrade, ThorChain and Fantom.
For more information on cryptocurrency prices, don’t forget to read Cointelegraph’s market analysis.
Most memorable quotes
“After a record year in 2020, when it grew by more than 300%, Bitcoin is expected to remain strong in 2021 as more individuals – and large institutional buyers – enter the market.”
Jesse Cohen, Senior Financial Analyst at Investing.com.
“While Musk’s behavior and communications may be considered positive or fun (and thus perhaps non-critical), similar studies have already shown that negative tweets can also have a negative impact on financial results.”
Lennart Ante, co-founder of the Blockchain Research Laboratory.
“If one tweet can increase the cap on the Bitcoin market by $111 billion, another tweet can erase a similar value.”
Lennart Ante, co-founder of the Blockchain Research Laboratory.
“Welcome.”
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla
“We have also seen an exceptional response to our cryptocurrency launch…. The volume of cryptocurrency transactions on our platform has far exceeded our expectations.”
Dan Schulman, CEO of PayPal
“The economic climate for Bitcoin could not be better right now.”
Duncan McInnes, co-manager of Roefer.
“Despite the aggressive $XRP army warning you about the elephant in the room escrow form, I still can’t help but feel sorry for the people who bought at .75c today. X R (I)P”.
Keith Waring, coin image marketer.
Predictions for the week
Tumblr media
The CIO of BlockTower Capital estimates that there will be another 9 to 22 months of “bull run” in cryptocurrency.
With the new optimism surrounding the operation of Bitcoin, the question inevitably arises: how long will the bull last?
According to Ari Paul, Blocktower Capital’s Chief Information Officer, we have at least nine more months.
He said, “There is a continuous and dizzying rotation going on here. BTC omhoog, dan wanneer BTC een adempauze neemt, ETH en enkele grote kapitalisaties (en in die modus, DeFi blue chips), dan kleine kapitalisaties, flush en herhaal. Of course, you can add a 30-60% correction for fun”.
On the question of how Bitcoin will behave, Paul added, “In terms of price, I think BTC ends a bull run between $100,000 and $400,000 and the alts do better.”
FUD of the week.
The Guggenheim CIO is under fire for changing his position on BTC.
Scott Minerd’s apparent shift from bullish to bearish, and vice versa, on both sides of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing regarding his $500 million investment in the BTC is raising eyebrows on social media.
Guggenheim’s CIO made headlines after stating that BTC would see a “complete correction to return to the $20,000 level” – later adding that there was insufficient institutional support to justify a price above $30,000.
A few days later, Minerd stated that bitcoin could reach $600,000 in the long run because of the scarcity and value of gold.
Some people on Twitter were not impressed. Economist Alex Krueger wrote, “Remember, Guggenheim wants you to sell #bitcoin so you can buy cheaper. They tried to scare the market into lowering the price to $20,000 when they think it’s worth $400,000.”
New class action lawsuit against Robinhood raises allegations of oligopolistic manipulation
It has been a full week since Robinhood, a stock trading application, took off following GameStop’s trading restrictions.
A class action lawsuit has been filed because this radical decision deprives customers of the opportunity to profit from the volatility of GME shares – by manipulating the share price.
Meanwhile, some reports have indicated that Robinhood is delaying its planned IPO to focus on fighting a public relations disaster. Other media outlets have questioned this claim and claimed that the IPO is proceeding as planned.
It is also reported that Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev will testify before the Financial Services Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives about the company’s role in the recent volatility.
Robinhood, a stock exchange app that has been popular for millennials, is facing a new class action lawsuit after it recently temporarily suspended purchases from GameStop and other “gift stores” through its platform.
Polish crypto exchange employee in artificial coma after armed attack
An employee of a Polish crypto and gold exchange has been put into an artificial coma after an armed attack.
On January 22, the offices of FlyingAtom in the city of Olsztyn were attacked. The masked attacker managed to escape with gold worth about $120,000.
The suspect was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident, and police thanked him for his assistance.
The best features of money
Tumblr media
Is it time to shine? Crypto should take a chance after the GameStop drama.
The GameStop pump could encourage some amateur investors to finally learn about DeFi and its benefits.
The only way to enable the execution of the blocking chain is to enter consciousness.
Inactive transactions can help keep the BeCeFi active so that the sector can continue to develop and increase its relevance.
R/ Wall Streetbets vs Wall Street: harbinger of the DeFi explosion?
Was the Robinhood stock market app the culprit in the GameStop saga? “In a decentralized trading market, no one would have that kind of power.”

Actual Friends
Genre: Single Parent!AU/Fluff
Pairing: Sung Joon x You (Female!Reader)
Warnings: Mentions of death, some very slight mature themes
Words: 4,435
Tumblr media
“Hey, sweet boy, how was your first day of school?” you asked as your son climbed into the backseat of your car.
“Pretty awesome,” he replied casually, getting situated in his booster seat.
You couldn’t help but let out a soft sigh of relief. When you’d dropped him off this morning for his very first day of Kindergarten, he’d been a little apprehensive.
And so had you, to be honest.
He’d gone to preschool, of course, so it’s not like he would be completely out of his element. But still. Preschool and actual school just seemed like a huge leap, and it also meant your little boy was growing up. He wasn’t going to be your little boy for very much longer; it was terrifying.
For five years now, it had just been the two of you. Your son’s father had chosen not to be in the picture ever since the very beginning, since before your son was even born, so you guys had only ever had each other.
Thinking about your son growing up and no longer needing you like he did now... it kind of broke your heart.
You knew it was inevitable, of course. It was how life worked, and there was nothing you could do. But it still hurt.
So, you would just have to make the most of the years you had left before he started hanging out with friends more than he did with you.
“What did you do?” you asked once the teacher closed the car door. You drove off through the car rider lane, heading home to the townhouse you’d lived in for the past few years.
“We walked around the whole school and we played on the playground and we went into the cafeteria and I got to play on the computer,” your son relayed, his little forehead wrinkled adorably as he thought about his day.
“Sounds fun, baby,” you grinned. “Did you make any friends?”
“Yeah!” he gasped. “I played with a girl on the playground because everyone else wanted to play superheroes but I wanted to play animals and she was the only one who would play animals with me.”
“Oh, wow! That was very nice of her. She’s in your class?”
Your son nodded before continuing on telling you about how he and his new friend had played The Lion King; she had wanted to be Pumbaa, and he had been Simba, so the two of them had frolicked around the playground pretending to eat bugs and making farting noises.
From the sounds of it, your son had met his perfect best friend.
By the time you arrived home, you’d learned just about every detail of his time out on the playground with his new friend. Despite your attempts to get him to talk about something else -- the rules of the classroom, for instance, so you knew he’d been paying attention when the teacher went over them -- he continued on with the lions and the bugs and the farts.
“I’m glad you had a good time at recess,” you smiled as you parked in your driveway. “It sounds like your new friend is really nice.”
“Yeah, she’s pretty cool,” he agreed as he unbuckled his seatbelt.
You helped your son out of the car, reaching in to grab his backpack and handing it to him.
But he wasn’t there to take it from you. Instead, he had run to the other side of the driveway, waving his arms wildly through the air and yelling out a name.
Your brow furrowed at his actions, and you shifted your gaze to see who he was calling to.
A few driveways down, you saw a little girl with (presumably) her father. She had just gotten off the bus, and she was also standing at the edge of her driveway, flinging her arms around and yelling out your son’s name in return.
“Who’s that?” you asked as you stepped up to your son’s side.
“It’s my new friend!”
“Well, look at that!” you grinned, lifting your hand up to wave at her father (who replied with a two-finger salute). “Your friend lives just down the street. We’ll have to see if she wants to come over and play sometime.”
You took your son’s hand and walked inside with him, reminding him to hang up his backpack by the front door before you went into the kitchen to prepare an afternoon snack for him.
And so continued on the routine for the next few days: you picked your son up from school, talked about what games he played during recess that day, waved to his friend when she got off the bus at the same time you two arrived home, he hung up his backpack, and you made him a snack.
“Now, remember,” you said when your son scrambled into the car on Friday afternoon. “I won’t be picking you up like this next week. I can’t leave work early anymore, so you’ll be taking the bus and grandpa will be here to stay with you until I get home.”
You were fully prepared for your son to whine and pout about taking the bus, but surprisingly, he replied quickly with a cheerful, “Okay!”
You glanced back at him in your rearview mirror, wanting to make sure he was actually as happy as he sounded. “Just look for grandpa waiting outside so you know when to get off, okay?”
“Okay!” he repeated. “But my friend rides the bus, and she knows when to get off. She’ll tell me so I don’t forget.”
Oh, that’s right. His friend rode the same bus, and her dad (you hadn’t learned who he was if he wasn’t her dad) always met her in the driveway.
You knew your dad would be there to meet your son, but you were relieved to have a back-up plan in the case he was running late or something.
I mean, you probably should meet this little girl’s dad first...
“Mommy, can we invite my friend over to play tomorrow?” your son asked as if he had just read your thoughts.
“Yeah, of course, sweetie,” you answered. “I can’t wait to meet her, she sounds really fun and nice.”
“Yay!” your son cheered, bouncing around in his booster seat.
A soft chuckle escaped your lips, and you turned onto your street, the school bus following right behind you.
After you pulled into your driveway, the bus stopped at the corner, letting off a few kids -- including your son’s friend. As soon as you turned the car off, he pushed the release button on his seat belt and opened the back door.
“I’ll go ask her if she can play tomorrow!” he cried excitedly, sliding down from his booster seat. Once his feet hit the cement, he took off running down to her house where she had just met up with her father.
You were about to yell out to your son to slow down, stay on the sidewalk, be polite! But you resisted, reminding yourself he was old enough to know all of those things. Plus, he needed to start learning to be more independent, so you would have to pull yourself away from being overprotective and nagging him about rules and safety.
That didn’t stop you from following him quickly down the sidewalk, though, wanting to arrive there before your son could abruptly invite the girl over without you even introducing yourself to her father.
When you approached the girl’s driveway, her father was crouched down in front of your son, holding his hand out for a handshake.
“Nice to meet you,” the man said with a half-smile. “My daughter has told me all about you.”
“Yeah, she’s pretty much my best friend,” your son replied as he shook the man’s hand.
“She says the same thing about you,” the man chuckled before he stood up straight, his gaze shifting to you.
“Hi,” you greeted as you came to stand behind your son, resting your hands on his shoulders. “I’m Y/N, the mom.”
The man’s half-smile grew just the slightest bit, and he then held his hand out toward you. “Y/N, nice to meet you. I’m Sung Joon. The dad.”
...It was the strangest thing.
The second you slid your hand into his, the second you heard his deep, smooth voice say your name, a delicious shiver ran down your spine.
“Nice to meet you, too,” you replied breathlessly.
“Can you come over to play tomorrow?” your son asked Sung Joon’s daughter. He rocked back and forth on his heels, clutching the straps of his backpack in anticipation as he awaited her answer.
“Yes, we would love to have you over if you can come,” you confirmed with a smile.
The little girl immediately turned her head to look up at her father, her eyes wide. “Can I, Daddy?” she asked.
Sung Joon’s half-smile finally grew into a full smile as he looked down at his daughter, resting one hand on top of her head and ruffling her hair a little. “I don’t see why not.”
Both children almost immediately broke out into a celebratory cheer, and you giggled softly at the adorable sight of them clapping and bouncing around.
“What time should she come over?” Sung Joon asked, looking back at you now.
“Around noon? She can have lunch with us,” you offered with a small shrug.
“Mommy!” your son cried. “Can we have dinosaur chicken nuggets?! Please please please please?!”
Oh, god. Your son was just going to rat you out for not always feeding him healthy, nutritious foods, then.
Thanks, buddy.
“Sweetie, I --”
“Please?!” Sung Joon’s daughter echoed. “Those are my favorite! With smiley face french fries!”
...Well. That made you feel better.
“Yes, we can have dinosaur chicken nuggets and smiley face french fries,” you consented with a smirk.
“Careful now,” Sung Joon interjected in that deep voice of his. “If you feed her that, she’ll never want to come home.”
“You can stay with us!” your son gasped, reaching out to hug his friend.
“But if I don’t go home, my Daddy will be lonely!” she replied with a slight pout.
Oh, interesting.
Did that mean... he was a single dad?
“Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you go home,” you assured the little girl, smiling warmly down at her. “Nobody will be lonely.”
Sung Joon simply chuckled softly, the low sound once again sending a shiver down your spine. “We’ll see you tomorrow then,” he murmured, nodding at you as he put a hand on his daughter’s shoulder to guide her into their townhouse.
“Bye!” your son cried, lifting his arm and waving at the two.
“See you tomorrow!” you added. As Sung Joon and his daughter headed up the walkway to their front door, you held out your hand to your son so the two of you could walk to your own front door.
As you strode down the sidewalk, slightly swinging your son’s hand back and forth, he said, “My friend doesn’t have a Mommy just like I don’t have a Daddy.”
Well, you weren’t sure where that came from, but you were just nosy enough to want to know more.
“She doesn’t?”
“Nuh-uh,” he answered with a shake of his head. “Her Mommy is in Heaven.”
“Oh no,” you said softly. “That’s really sad.”
“Yeah, she said she gets sad about it sometimes, but she doesn’t remember her.”
So, it must have happened a while ago, then.
“She told me her Daddy used to get sad a lot, but now he’s okay.”
Another interesting tidbit of informa --
Wait. Hold on a second.
Why did any of this matter to you? He was your neighbor, your son’s best friend’s dad, and you had just met the guy literally minutes ago.
His marital and emotional status should be of no concern to you!
Maybe it had to do with the fact that his touch and his voice had been spine-chilling -- but, like, in a good way. Not in a creepy way. Definitely not in a creepy way.
And then your son asked a question which thoroughly interrupted your thoughts.
“Are you okay, Mommy?”
Your brow furrowed deeply, and you quickly looked down at your son. “Yes, of course, I’m okay. Why do you ask?”
“My friend’s Daddy was sad, so I thought you might be sad, too. Since I have no Daddy.”
You slowed your steps and bent to pick your son up, hoisting him onto your hip.
“Listen here,” you said gently before quickly pecking his soft cheek. “I’m not sad at all. Your Daddy wasn’t ready to be a Daddy, and that’s okay. I was sad for a little bit, but then you came along. How can I be sad when I have the best, cutest, sweetest, smartest, funniest son in the whole world?”
You leaned in and kissed all over your son’s face, eliciting lots of squeals and giggles from the both of you.
You hadn’t talked too much with him about his dad, really only just telling him the basics and deciding to wait until he was older to divulge more details.
Maybe that moment was approaching a lot sooner than you’d anticipated.
Tumblr media
“Lunch is served,” you announced as you set down two plates at the kitchen table. Two plates filled with dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets and potatoes formed into smiley faces, much to the two children’s delight.
“Can we watch a movie after lunch?” your son asked before grabbing a nugget and dunking it into the pool of ketchup on his plate.
The day had begun with buckets of rain, and the sky hadn’t let up by the time your son’s playdate rolled around, so playing outside was definitely out of the question.
“Ask our special guest if she would like to watch a movie,” you reminded him as you sat down with your own plate (of a turkey sandwich and a salad -- although the nuggets and fries were tempting...). “You also have plenty of toys in your playroom.”
“Can we play with your toys first?” the guest of honor asked with a mouth full of happy potatoes.
“Okay,” your son agreed, mumbling around the prehistoric chicken in his own mouth. “We can watch a movie later.”
“What good friends you guys are,” you commented before biting into your sandwich.
Unlike the two five-year-olds sitting next to you, you had enough manners not to speak with food in your mouth.
After all three of you had cleaned your plates, you set the kids free, giving them permission to go upstairs to the playroom. Your heart warmed as you heard their little footsteps running up the stairs, and you kind of had to swallow down a tiny lump of emotion in your throat as you loaded the empty plates into the dishwasher.
You were just so happy your son had adjusted to school so well, even finding a friend he wanted to invite over and play with on the weekend.
It had been hard raising him by yourself for the past five years. Your parents helped as much as they could, but you hadn’t wanted to rely on them -- you still didn’t. Asking your dad to stay with your son after school was about as far as you were willing to go.
So, to see with your own eyes that he was becoming a well-adjusted kid was rewarding and relieving, and it made you really, really happy.
Once the kitchen was clear and (somewhat) clean, you headed upstairs, yourself. You figured you could use this time to catch up on some reading, and since your bedroom was right next to the playroom, you could still keep an ear out just in case you were needed.
They were still trying to decide what to play when you passed by, and you caught bits and pieces of their conversation.
“--play house. But if you’re the Mommy, I don’t want to be the Daddy,” your son said with some conviction.
“Why not?”
“Because I don’t have a Daddy,” he answered. “Not everyone has a Mommy and a Daddy.”
“I know,” came his friend’s reply, and it sounded like maybe she was pouting just a little bit. “I only have a Daddy, remember?”
“Do you think my Mommy and your Daddy could be friends like you and me?”
You heard a soft, high-pitched gasp, and you covered your mouth to keep from giggling.
“Yeah! They could be friends, and then your Mommy could be my Mommy, and my Daddy could be your Daddy.”
Your eyes widened a little, and you immediately resumed walking to your bedroom.
That was enough eavesdropping for now.
...Although.
You would be lying if you weren’t just a little intrigued by their amateur matchmaking scheme.
Because... her Daddy was hot.
And if you want to pretend like I meant that in a different way, you are more than welcome to.
I mean, just look at him.
Tumblr media
Thankfully, once you got settled in your bed with a book, the two of them had moved on and were now playing with the map rug on the playroom floor. All talk of Mommies and Daddies ceased, and you were able to thoroughly focus on your book.
Kind of thoroughly, that is.
Thoughts of Sung Joon did pop in your head from time to time, but they only lasted for a few seconds!
After a couple of hours, you heard the door of the playroom creak open. You glanced up over the top of your book just as the two hobgoblins appeared in your doorway.
“Mommy, can we go downstairs and watch a movie?” your son asked in his most angelic voice.
You immediately closed your book, setting it down on your side table and swinging your legs over the side of your bed. “Of course, sweetie,” you answered. “Should I make popcorn?”
Both of them answered with very excited cheers, and a smile lit up your face as you headed out into the hallway to go downstairs together.
After getting them set up in the living room with a DVD, you shuffled into the kitchen and grabbed some popcorn from the pantry. Just after you unwrapped and placed it in the microwave, the shrill chime of the doorbell pierced through the air.
You quickly pressed the 2-minute button before jogging down the hall to the front door.
You weren’t sure who you were expecting, but when you swung the door open and saw Sung Joon’s stupidly handsome face, you knew you definitely hadn’t been expecting him.
Although you probably should have been.
His daughter was here, in your house, after all.
“Hey,” you greeted somewhat breathlessly, opening the door wider to let him in. “I just put on a movie for them, so you might have a time trying to pry her away from the TV.”
“Oh,” Sung Joon chuckled, his lips pulling into a smirk (a very sexy smirk). “No, that’s all right. I’m not in a rush.”
Oh. So... did that mean he was coming inside... to, like... talk?
“Would you... like something? Water? Coffee? I’m making popcorn for the kids, I can throw a bag in for you, too, if you’d like,” you offered as you led him down the hallway and into the kitchen.
“Coffee sounds great,” he murmured, his voice a lot closer to your ear than you were expecting. It made your heart skip a beat, and you found you were kind of holding your breath as you opened a cabinet and got out a mug.
“How has she been?” he asked quietly as he slid onto a barstool at the counter, his eyes following you while you gathered the bag of coffee and a filter.
“Oh, she’s been great,” you assured him with a grin. “They’ve been playing up in the playroom since after lunch. I got to read, and they didn’t disturb me once.”
Sung Joon’s brows lifted, and that smirk reappeared on his lips. “Impressive.”
“Yeah, it was,” you chuckled. And then, as you scooped the coffee grounds into the filter, you felt the word vomit erupting. “I heard them deciding what they wanted to play, and I guess they wanted to play house because they were talking about who would be the Daddy and the Mommy and all that. They said they wanted us to be friends like how they’re friends so you could be his Daddy and I could be her Mommy.”
...Oh, my god.
Why did you just tell him that?
But instead of a very awkward silence, you heard Sung Joon’s low, deep laugh. A quick glance awarded you the sight of his smiling, crinkled eyes, and your heart leaped up into your throat.
“I guess I’ll have to tell her that’s not how it works,” he chuckled. “But I’m more than open to the idea of being friends.”
Your eyebrows rushed up as you slid the filter inside the filter basket and set it on top of the carafe.
“I -- I mean, yeah,” you replied with a bit of a stammer. “Absolutely.”
“We just moved in a month ago, and I haven’t really had time to get to know anyone yet,” he explained. You could feel his eyes on you, and after you turned the coffee maker on, you moved to the opposite side of the counter, facing him. He was, indeed, looking at you, making direct eye contact. And making your heart race.
“I figured you must be new around here,” you replied somewhat breathlessly.
Sung Joon nodded before saying, “We just... needed a fresh start.”
“Yeah, my -- my son told me... I’m so sorry for your loss,” you said quietly.
A soft, sad smile tugged at his lips, but only briefly. “Thank you. It was over four years ago, and we were still living in the same place... I finally felt like it was time to move on.”
“Good for you,” you said with a small grin, desperately wanting to reach out and put a hand on his arm. “I can’t imagine how difficult it must be.”
“At least I have her,” he murmured, glancing over his shoulder into the living room.
“Yeah, exactly,” you agreed. “I feel the same.”
Sung Joon turned back around to face you, his brow furrowed gently. “What’s your story, then?”
“Me? Oh -- he just left,” you explained, trying to sound casual. “Didn’t want to be a father, I guess, so he bailed.”
“Ouch.”
“Like you said, at least I have him. He asked me yesterday if I was sad because he doesn’t have a Dad, and how can I be when I have him as a son?”
“Still, though,” Sung Joon sighed. “Single parenting is not easy.”
“No,” you agreed with a shake of your head.
“Maybe we should help each other out,” he suggested, throwing you a curious but hopeful glance.
“Help each other out? What do you mean?”
“I’ll take him sometimes, you take her,” he explained with a shrug. “We can do things together. Just make it easier on ourselves.”
“So... become actual friends,” you chuckled, leaning against the counter.
“Yeah, become actual friends,” Sung Joon agreed with a soft laugh. A soft laugh which, unsurprisingly, sent a shiver down your spine.
“I would very much like that,” you nodded.
As you heard the coffee machine start to gurgle and sputter, you turned to go to the fridge to get out some creamer.
But Sung Joon’s quiet voice interrupted you, making you freeze in your tracks.
“We could even do things together,” he suggested. “Like, kid-free.”
You knew he probably meant as just friends, but a part of your brain was now trying to convince you he meant... as maybe more than just friends.
“Y-yeah,” you replied as movement came back into your body and you reached to open the fridge. “Yeah, that sounds great. I honestly don’t spend a lot of time with other adults besides my co-workers and my parents, so --”
“Me neither,” he chuckled. “At least, not since --”
He cut himself off, and you knew right then and there you would do your best not to push anything. Not to rush into a more-than-friendly relationship -- if you felt like it could go there, that is.
You certainly wanted it to go there, but if it did, then you would take it slow.
There was a lot on the line, after all.
Two things on the line, to be exact, and they were just in the other room watching a movie.
It was then you realized the microwave had gone off a few minutes ago, so you rushed over and opened it, taking the bag out and dumping the contents into a bowl.
Once you delivered the popcorn to the kiddos, you headed back into the kitchen to pour Sung Joon his coffee. And, while you were at it, you poured some for yourself, too.
After each of you had added your essentials, Sung Joon lifted his mug up toward you in a toast.
“To being actual friends,” he murmured, and you could’ve sworn you saw a smirk tugging at his lips.
“Actual friends,” you repeated with a slightly shy chuckle. You lifted your own mug up and carefully touched it to his.
Little did you know that drinking coffee with Sung Joon in your kitchen was the start of an actual friendship.
The two of you would start spending quite a bit of time together, mostly with your kids, but sometimes without.
You would go to the park, to the movies, to the zoo, and even just to the grocery store. You would walk around the neighborhood while the kids rode bikes, and the two of you would just talk.
You would get to know each other extremely well, and as much as you tried to hide it... feelings for each other would start to simmer under the surface.
But you would stick to your promise to yourself. You would take it slow, and it wouldn’t be for another year that Sung Joon would ask you out to dinner -- and clarify that he meant it as a date.
After that, it would be another full year of secret dates and stolen kisses until the two of you would finally decide it was time to tell your children.
And they would be absolutely thrilled, of course.
So would you.
But right now, as you sipped your sweet, creamy coffee, you had no idea any of that lay ahead. You were just glad to have a friend.
An actual friend.

Morgan’s 5th Birthday
The day Morgan turns 5 is one of the most hectic day in Tony and Steve’s life to say the least. One reason is that a new urgent mission just popped up waking the couple at 4 am in the morning. The second is that it was a busy Monday, so that means, school for the three children. The third and final reason, was that the restaurant they reserved for dinner got cancelled for some bizarre reason.
Now, at 4 pm in the middle of the grassy field by the avengers facility, Steve fresh out of his suit, is running around and organizing picnic blankets and pillows. He and Tony have planned a little movie night out under the stars the second they got the call from the restaurant. They were going to set up a make-shift movie screen with a projector, have picnic blankets and pillows for everyone to sit on, and there’s going to be a table full of food just enough for the avengers who are able to come. “Hey Bruce, how’s it going with the projector?” Steve asked. “All set, Cap!” Bruce, who’ve decided to remain in his Professor Hulk form, replied. Rhodey giving two thumbs up beside him to assure Steve further. Steve let out the breath he was unknowingly holding. He can finally check off a box from his to-do list. ‘Finally, one task done, a couple more to go,’ he thought.
Near the piece of white fabric that’ll act as a screen, is Sam trying to help Happy arrange the cheeseburgers in a presentable way, note the key word: trying. Next to it is a plate of s’mores with sprinkles, because the birthday girl just spontaneously had that idea the last time they were eating the snack while on a camping trip. Just to the left of it are two accomplished assassins yelling profanities at a chocolate fountain about it “not spewing out the diabetes-causing sweet that everybody can’t resist.” That is, until they finally figured it out after a couple of death threats. Which they immediately tested for “maximum level of taste and experience.” Leaving Bucky with chocolate near his mouth and some drips on his shirt, and have proceeded to rate it 4 out 5 stars, the missing one for the difficulty in setting up. A couple of frustrating minutes later, Wanda came out of the kitchen with Vision with carbonara and some punch, finally completing the food table. As the couple set down the dish and drink, Steve ticked off another box, then proceeded to get the plates and other eating utensils they’ll need. By then, it was 5 o’clock, a few minutes before Cassie and Pepper arrive with the little one. 15 minutes to be exact, as Pep texted him. The three of them were out to some fun time in the mall where Morgan’s favorite cartoon were doing some concert. Coincidentally enough (wink, wink), the entire performance was sponsored by the Stark Industries.
Tony meanwhile, had to pick up Peter at school because he got detention for not paying attention at class and instead making some new and improved “superhero solution” as his teachers called it. “Y’know to be completely honest, everytime you get detention, I always look forward to your Pop’s monologue about the topic.” The comment received an eye roll from Peter, who is obviously so sick of the infamous detention and getting in trouble talk courtesy of Captain America. “So, you got  detention,” his father continued, mocking his husband, complete with a hand on the side of his waist for extra effects. At this point, he was ready to yeet himself out of the surface of the earth and into the sun. “Can we just go home in peace, please?” Peter pleaded. Tony let out a chuckle before agreeing. The thing is, Tony sometimes doesn’t tell Steve if Peter got detention if it’s only a minor thing, but he always suspects that he knows though.
The father-son duo showed up a few minutes after Clint and his family arrived. Harley rushed to greet the two with a grinning face. “You guys have no idea how stressed Pops was earlier.” “Did he turn on his angry mom mode?” their dad asked with an amused smile. “Yep, the whole package, complete with his ‘eyebrows of disappointment’ towards Sam and Happy who are arguing about whether or not they should stack the cheeseburgers in a pyramid,” the older boy responded, sending a mischievous smile to his little brother. As the three came closer, finally getting the chance to see the little quick set-up, Peter started to imagine the joy on his baby sister’s adorable face. First thing he saw were the people there, not too many, just the family, well, extended family. There was their Dad, Steve, smiling and his eyes encouraging them to come over, Sam and Bucky chatting with Wanda and Vision, Natasha and Bruce hanging out with Clint and his Family, and Scott, Hope, Rhodey and Happy finishing up the homey little tent, adding some tiny details and making sure it’s stable. The sun had already started to set, so the dainty fairy lights shining among the stars in the dark blue sky.
Just as Peter finished to take it all in, he hears a familiar gasp of surprise. Turning around, he saw his little sister beaming with excitement in the middle of Pepper and Cassie, who were both holding her hands, carrying She-Ra merchandise. The little girl ran up to them, Harley picking her up off the ground. “Wow!” Morgan exclaimed, eyes big and round, and full of admiration. The family came closer to the cake in the middle of the food table. “You like it, Ann?” Steve asked their daughter. The birthday girl nodded enthusiastically, eyeing the cake and the bowl of strawberry, marshmallows, and wafer sticks around the chocolate fountain. “Can I blow the candle now? Can I? Can I? Can I?” Tony laughed and started to sing happy birthday. Soon enough, everybody was singing and cheering on the now 5 year-old. “What’d ya wish for?” Harley asked after she finished blowing out the candle. “You’re not supposed to tell your wish!” she said, raising her arms. Though after about 5 seconds, a low whisper, or so what she thought was a whisper, can be heard, “I wished that my birthdays always will be this fun and always with my family.”
For the rest of the night, the family (that includes all the other avengers), ate and watched a couple of Disney movies, starting with Frozen, then The Lion King, and then lastly, The Little Mermaid. A lot of good laughs were shared that night under the stars. Sam, Rhodey, and Scott were belting out let it go, Happy, Bruce, and Morgan were full out sobbing during that scene in The Lion King (the rest either has a few tears pouring out, while some were crying on the inside), and by the time Rafiki went and talk to Simba, the birthday girl was already asleep, drooling on Tony’s sleeves, muttering a sweet good night and an I love you 3000 before completely drifting off.

Breaking Globalism's Circle of Lies. In today's rabidly anti- white's climates, pretty much every new movie or TV show is conspicuously diverse and generally anti-white in tone and children have also been targeted by this same poisonous trend through the media and at school. I recently saw The Lion King for the first time. It was the recent remake, not the original cartoon. I had heard that it was far more than a children's film, so I decided to give it a chance and I'm pleased I did in this time of anti-white's programming, which is literally being used to program non-whites to hate us and to make us hate ourselves. It's surprising that this remake still contains so much wholesomeness. This is a film that any nationalist could happily enjoy and show their children. So this is your official spoiler alert. I'm going to tell you the story as I saw it. I'm sure the nationalist message will be clear, so here it goes.   The film is set in a beautiful kingdom of animals called the pride lands where there is abundance, order and hierarchy. All of the different groups of animals understand and accept each other's differences and their place in the natural order because of their innate differences. They remain with their own kind and are exclusive of other groups. The opening scene shows all the different groups coming together to pay tribute to the birth of a new member of the lion family, Simba, who is the son of the King Mufasa. The Lions have ultimate dominion over the territories. All the different groups are united in their celebration of the Lions stewardship of their world. There is no equality agenda here and we see that within the lion tribe there is also hierarchy. The king alone has the leadership role while the females complement this by attending to the day-to-day well-being of the tribe and nurturing the young. Everything is in a state of natural balance and, just works. The lion still eats the antelope in the pride lands but all understand that this is part of the natural order, that everything is contained in a circle of life whereby everything regenerates everything else in a continuous cycle. But all is not well in Paradise. Mufasa has a brother named Scar, but a brother in name only. He looks different, and it is clear that he does not have the interests of the pride at heart as any real lion would. Scar feels that he is smarter than his brother and therefore deserves to be king, though it's clear that what Scar perceives to be his superior intelligence is better described as duplicity, cunning and an unbridled ambition for power. Mufasa’s advisor, Zazu, tells him that Scar should have been expelled from the pride lands long ago, but Mufasa naively refuses to expel him because of his misguided loyalty and compassion. This is something that Mufasa will later come to regret as Scar sees his loyalty only as weakness. Scar hatches a plot to kill Simba by making him curious to go to the Forbidden Zone where the hyenas live. The hyenas are a rapacious and repulsive looking horde of animals that live outside the pride lands. They exist in a constant state of hunger and deprivation because they are not capable of creating or sustaining anything. They are parasites whose greatest desire is to break into the pride lands and suck it dry of its abundance, so Simba and his friend Nala go to the Forbidden Zone and are almost eaten by the hyenas. At the last minutes, Mufasa gets word and comes to save them. He later explains to Simba about the importance of ancestry, admonishing him for jeopardizing the future of the pride by entering the territory of a hostile group. He tells him that the stars in the night sky are his ancestors looking down on him always offering him guidance so he will never be alone. Scar later goes to the hyenas and rebukes them for failing to kill Simba. He proposes an alliance with them to bring Mufasa down, promising them a land of plenty that they can strip bare just as they have stripped bare their own. Scar says the hyenas belly is never full. In return the hyenas pledge to be his personal guard, usurping the position of the pride whose Scar wishes to utterly betray. He understands that hyenas and lions are natural enemies and so will fulfill their side of the bargain. There will no longer be any harmony in the pride lands. I found this a very interesting shot of a crescent moon as scar formalizes his alliance with the hyenas, so Scar engineers an event to bring about his rise to power. He takes Simba into a gorge and then triggers a stampede of wildebeest to kill him. He tells Mufasa about the Stampede and he comes to save Simba, but as Mufasa tries to climb clear of the Stampede he is finally betrayed by Scar who pushes him off the rock to his death. After he discovers his father is dead,  Simba is shamed into exile by Scar who convinces him he is to blame for it all. Scar sends the hyenas off to kill Simba but they fail in this task. Back in the pride lands Scar assumes power by lying about the death of Mufasa and Simba. He then brings the hyenas into the pride lands under the pretense of them being helpful and necessary, but the Lions immediately know this is really a hostile occupation. The natural order has been disrupted and an era of darkness begins. An era that celebrates the inclusion of groups where they do not belong, where everything will gradually degrade. Is this starting to ring some bells? After collapsing from exhaustion while wandering through the desert, a warthog and meerkat stop Simba from being eaten by vultures. When they find out about Simba's tragic past they explain to him that he needs to put the past behind him and not worry about anything. Hakuna Matata is the name of this philosophy. They tell him that when the world turns its back on you, you turn your back on the world. In other words, nihilism and apathy. Simba's new friends take him to their oasis in the desert where all groups mix, and Simba is warned that he must no longer eat his natural diet. That from now on he will eat only insects and bugs, not antelopes. While Simba grows up in the Oasis with his newfound philosophy of self-indulgence, things go from bad to worse back in the pride lands. His father once ruled the land is being stripped bare by the hyenas with the blessing of the new ruler Scar. The Lions, once rulers of the land, are now living in fear dominated by the new arrivals. Sarabi refuses to be Scar’s Queen and Scar says that until she relents, the hyenas will eat before the Lions, standing the natural order on its head and placing the rights of the invaders above the Lions in their own land. So Nala escapes the pride lands to find Simba who has now been accepted by his new friends in the Oasis. Simba's new friends tell him that life is a meaningless line of indifference, that one day we reach the end of the line and that will be it. Simba's friends tell him that there is no circle of life as his father taught him and that life is just something to be enjoyed for a while. However, while looking up at the stars one night, Simba recalls what his father said about his ancestors looking down on him. His friends laugh at this idea, naturally, because they have no picture of the universe beyond pleasures in the here and now. But Simba cannot accept this vision of life and withdraws. His natural urge to discover his true purpose is trying to break through. Looking up at the stars, he shakes a tuft - fur from his mane and the circle of life transports this tuft all the way back to his home. The monkey Rafiki, the spirit-being of the pride lands, now knows that Simba is still alive. Nala arrives at the Oasis and tries to persuade Simba to return home. Despite showing her the delights of the Oasis, Nala does not relent. She knows that Simba must return and that only he can lead the pride lands back to health and restore the natural order. She knows only he can challenge Scar. There is no girl power here. Simba encounters Rafiki while walking in the jungle at night and he takes him to a pond where he sees his father in his own reflection and hears his voice speaking in the thunder. “Remember who you are”, his father tells him. Ultimately Simba returns home to the pride lands, his land, and restores order. The final scene shows all the different animal groups congregating to celebrate the birth of Simba’s own child, and so the circle of life continues. You can make your own assessment of who each of the characters in this story might represent in the world today, but I'm sure the parallels are clear. There are many lessons in this story for us and our children. This is a film you can show them to explain what the natural order means and the importance of tribe, hierarchy and leadership. It shows what happens when different groups mix and subvert this order. It shows that each group is separate and unique for a purpose. It speaks to how a misguided sense of compassion can lead to the  collapse of societies, but doing what is right does not always feel good and what feels good is not always doing right. It's a caution against nihilism, hyper individuality and self-gratification. Hakuna Matata it seems has become something of a guiding principle for many in today's West. The story shows what happens when hostile elements within societies subvert it by making alliances with outside groups. It shows how they portray those invading groups as innocent victims and afford them rights above the native population. We can see this clearly today with the hate speech laws and diversity quotas. These traitors have legalized us second-class status in our own countries. They have made us afraid to speak the truth of multiculturalism and they turn a blind eye to the vile crimes against us to perpetuate this madness. The circle of life is just another name for natural law. It's just another name for the way of the world. It exposes a massive flaw in the idea of multiculturalism and the bogus Equality agenda. Ultimately it's about how the truth, no matter how bad things look, will eventually come to triumph over lies. This is a message we all need to hear right now and this goes double for our children. Be sure to talk to your children about the things they watch. If you notice a wholesome narrative in something they are watching, point it out, talk to them about it. If you see something damaging, which is more likely, also talk to them about it because our enemies are masters of propaganda and they are bombarding our young with it all day every day. Not everyone is in a position to homeschool their children but there is still much you can do to free your children and break the circle of Lies.” https://youtu.be/1cAMDS-tmxc (source)

The Lion King (2019) Review
Tumblr media
By Kayla Caldwell
Ah, The Lion King, the beautiful reimagining of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, this time, in live action form. Before we talk about how dreamy the visuals are, let me just say upfront, the singing is weak. But we’ll get more into that later. The movie seems to start about the same as the 1994 cartoon. Rafiki (John Kani) holds baby Simba (JD McCrary) up to present him to the animal kingdom as the camera pans to stunning views of Pride Rock. Young Simba is cute af. Every time he or baby Nala (Shahadi Wright Joseph) were onscreen I couldn’t stop thinking, “I want one!” And I didn’t realize it until I saw it in action, but John Oliver was the perfect choice for Zazu, down to the scene in which the perturbed bird shouted, “IT’S THE NEWS!” emphasizing how immensely important that message was, after Simba had playfully attacked him while he was going over the day’s happenings with Mufasa (James Earl Jones). And for anyone, who, like myself, was terrified about the waterworks that would be set off during the stampede scene, this version actually moved past Mufasa’s death pretty quickly. I was prepping myself to sob in the theater full of people, but next thing I knew Scar (Chiwetel Ejiofor ) was yelling at Simba to run away, and we were already moving on. I’m grateful for that, at least, though I will say it’s still a pretty suspenseful scene. The music is LOUD and the sound of the wildebeests running is unnerving. Plus, the graphics are so good (especially in IMAX), that I almost raised my hand to swipe away the dust rising off of the ground as the animals charged. Watching this scene again in adulthood really made me question things. Why did Mufasa have to climb up to the top of that mountain? He seemed fine clinging to the side of the cliff. I mean, sure, I bet it was tiring, but how long could a stampede really last? Alas, even though I watched that scene like a naive child, hoping it would produce a different outcome despite knowing exactly how this story ends, Mufasa does fall. And he dies. And then… one last wildebeest runs by a trembling Simba, and all I could think was, same. That would be me in gym class, wrapping up the mile in a cool 12 minutes because ya girl has asthma and also is not built for running.
Tumblr media
After Simba runs away, he passes out in the desert, and there’s a scene where a group of vultures creepily circle before the cub is thankfully saved by Timon (Billy Eichner) and Pumba (Seth Rogan). Now, I’ve already said the singing in this movie is less than impressive, but it seems they tried to play up the humor to make up for it. And it’s not a bad effort. Timon and Pumba are hilarious. From the moment they meet the lion cub and introduce him to their philosophies “Life is meaningless” to Timon tactlessly asking, “What’s wrong… in as little words as possible?” The duo are a great comic relief. After teaching Simba “Hakuna Matata,” they mimic the montage from the original movie, where the little cub grows into a full-grown lion, all while they’re singing. And the meerkat and warthog joke about this in the movie, telling Simba enough is enough. Pumba jokes he’s gained about 300 pounds since they started singing. And Timon cries, “Now he’s riffing, Pumba, this is a nightmare!” There’s a scene around this time in the movie where a little pile of hair falls off of Simba’s mane, and floats down a river, and is picked up by a bug, and then a bird, and then the breeze, etc. etc. It eventually makes its way to Rafiki, alerting him that Simba has NOT died, and I get the visual impact they were going for - circle of life and all that jazz. However, as someone with thick hair that sheds about as much as a dog’s - this just made me think of when you have to clean a clump of hair off of your brush. Not exactly romantic. And as we all know, Hakuna Matata doesn’t quite work when you’re the rightful leader of a kingdom being thrown into disarray, something a grown-up Nala (Beyonce) reminds the wayward Simba. Their reunion sparks up a rendition of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?” that could be described as cringeworthy. I know! I know, how dare I disrespect Beyonce like that? But hear me out, I’m a huge fan. I saw her on the Formation Tour and it was like a religious experience. But this version of the song is weird and full of riffs and just doesn’t feel like that beloved Elton John classic I was looking for. My roommate, who is super into music, even covered her face with her hands during it. Not a good sign. Another big disappointment? “Be Prepared.” That’s a great effing song in the cartoon. And Ejiofor basically just talk-sings it. That’s actually the main problem with this movie, and likely all of the Disney live action remakes. They put together great casts, but the problem is that they’re more focused on star power than vocal ability. So most of the songs in this film - which are classics beloved by fans - turn into weird, almost rap-y talk-songs. It’s a little disheartening.
Tumblr media
Speaking of Scar, dude is scary. Visually, they did a really good job making him fearsome. He’s too skinny. His fur seems matted, and he’s just … wrong. It’s perfect. Typically, whenever I see a big cat (like tigers or, say, a lion), I’m desperate to pet it. I know I cannot, but boy, do I want to. But with Scar, let me tell you just how much I did not want to pet him. I wanted to stay far, far away from that guy, and that is exactly how Scar should make me feel. His lackeys, the hyenas, weren’t any better. I feel bad saying this, because I love all animals, but man, are those things ugly. They’re like deformed dogs that should be in Stranger Things or something. The way they shrieked when ripping up a carcass also made me think of the evil monkeys in the Wizard of Oz. So yeah, be prepared to be scared. (See what I did there?) The conclusion of the film really ratchets up the fear factor. While the remaining Mufasa loyalists fight off Scar and the hyenas, the rest of Pride Rock is ablaze, surrounding them with flames while ash rains from the sky. It’s very Silent Hill-esque, and creepy as hell. I challenge you to not be alert and enraptured during this scene. All in all, it’s a really fun watch. Was it groundbreaking, or honestly, even necessary? No. The cartoon still holds up. But, that being said, there’s a great group of talent here, and Timon and Pumba really are funny. And, if you’ve been craving a more realistic depiction of the royal lions, then this is perfect for you. The views are stunning, and the animals (Scar and the hyenas aside) are beautiful.
Tumblr media
They also got creative with the cinematography, adding some fun, new POV shots that really enhance the overall experience of watching the film. Long live the king.

Thruce + De-aged Ironstrange with Uncle Loki Ft Peter
Consider this:
One day while Peter is visiting an argument between Stephen and Tony caused an experiment to go haywire causing a loud explosion and Peter found two de-aged avengers Stephen & Tony (as 5-6 year olds)
Kid Stephen and Kid Tony is aware of their powers (Stephen has his magic and Tony has his nanotech suit that he can tap at any time to suit up) but they both don’t recognise the other avengers or anyone else.
Kid Stephen and Kid Tony constantly argues but gets sassy and protective over each other if someone yells or “threatens” the other
They also hold hands like it’s the most normal thing in the world wherever they go and refused to be separated
Cue Peter freaking out because what is he supposed to do now?! He can’t look after them because he has school and aunt May will lose it if he hides these two in his room.
In panic he calls Ned who comes over with a bunch of legos to distract and occupy Stephen and Tony but they know they needed a solution. Ned suggested Peter ask for the help of the strongest Avengers: Thor and Bruce Banner
Bruce and Thor live in a small 2 bedroom apartment in New York. They are hopelessly in love with each other but Bruce insists on taking this pretty slow because he is still full of insecurities of himself
Cue to Peter and Ned showing up to the Thruce Apartment with kid Tony and kid Stephen clinging to both his leg.
Thor agrees to take them in immediately because Thor LOVES kids. Bruce however is very concerned that their place may not be the safest environment for children. And that this environment can cause him to stress and unleash the other guy
In the end Bruce accepts that he and Thor would be the best people to figure this possible Science/Magic thing out and that if the roles were reversed and he was the one de-aged Tony would do the same for him
Except they have another problem: Loki is staying with them at their apartment as an honorary house-guest indefinitely
Loki finds extreme amusement in scaring Kid Tony and kid Stephen now that they are smol. He particularly likes to scare kid Stephen especially to get revenge on him. Except Tony a feisty kid and does not hesitate to bite Loki in the leg for making Stephen cry
The prank and scare battles between Loki vs kid Tony/kid Stephen continues for a few day until Bruce and Thor had to sit the two kids down to apologise to uncle Loki (and not blow a raspberry at him when Bruce isn’t looking) and they also sat Loki down because “seriously Loki? you’re picking on children now?”
But then a thought comes to mind, “Hey Loki, do you know how break the spell?”
Loki all smug now assures them of course he knows except he can break the spell but he cannot and won’t do it because the reason why he is currently hiding in Thor and Bruce’s apartment (because “why would I willingly stay in this lowly place if I had any other choice?”) is because he is hiding from his grandmaster boyfriend who is scouring the galaxy for his ass and this dude can locate wherever Loki is located if Loki simply uses magic (the stronger magic Loki uses, the easier it will be to read where he is). So if he wants to avoid his bf he should keep his magic to a minimum and the kind of magic that can undo this spell is not a light one so *shrugs*
But Loki agrees take it down a notch with the jump scares and pranks while they try to find an alternative method ...As long as Bruce and Thor aren’t home what they don’t know won’t hurt them and if he is assigned to be their babysitter while they go to work then he should have some fun at least. He just won’t make them cry.
Kid Tony and Kid Stephen grows to adore uncle Loki over the coming days when Bruce and Thor comes home to them asleep on the couch with Stephen tucked on Loki’s side and Tony drapped on his shoulders. Squiggly drawings all over their faces with a sharpie and lion king playing on TV
One Saturday when they had the day off they decided to go to the zoo with Peter to take the kids out so they’re not too cooped up at home (and also give Loki a break from babysitting)
Except Stephen and Tony likes to wander off on their own and Bruce in panic when he realised the kids are no longer with them unleashed the other guy under stress
They see that Tony and Stephen are inside the lion’s area area because they wanted to see Simba. They almost got hurt except hulk snatched both Tony and Stephen out of the way and far away from the zoo leaving a panicked Thor and Peter hurriedly
Hulk took both Tony and Stephen to an abandoned parkland where there wouldn’t be anyone for miles and he sat them down gently. Tony and Stephen were not scared at the Hulk at all and found that escape thing ‘FUN!’ But Hulk roared at them to get them to calm down a bit which worked a little too well as the kids nearly peed their pants in fright before patting both of them awkwardly on the head. It began to rain not long after and Hulk huddled both of them close to shield them from the storm.
Between the scary storm and the shelter form the hulk, Stephen and Tony chooses the Hulk
Bruce wakes up back in the apartment with Thor by his side on a chair. Bruce had a cold and only remembered going to the zoo and then losing Stephen and Tony and then hulking out and panicked asking if anybody got hurt again because of him
Thor is quick tor reassure him that Bruce is the most selfless and wonderful person, Bruce unconscious in the rain with both Stephen and Tony in his arms. Stephen trying to make a shield that was too small for them to shelter them from the rain and Tony using his nanotech to activate the built-in heater to warm them all up but it’s not really working
Thor knew that Bruce is afraid of settling down and doing normal things like having a family, being a parent and raising children and believing that Hulk cannot co-exist with that and therefore Bruce cannot co-exist with that as well but that the events of yesterday proved otherwise because Bruce is capable and caring and his first instinct was to protect and shield the kids and then everyone else and this is why Thor loves Bruce so much and he will wait until whenever Bruce is finally ready to embrace himself first for who he is.
Then they made out but was interrupted by an “EWW~” from kid Tony and kid Stephen by the door and Peter running after then not long after apologising profusely for not realising earlier they were no longer watching Toy Story in front of the TV.
Loki following behind them announcing them that they are all failures as babysitters compared to a world class one like himself and they should appreciate him more. But also that he has decided he is sick of staying in this boring place and so he doesn’t mind breaking the spell with his magic if that means he can escape back with his sugar daddy to Sakaar (”Don’t kid yourself, I’m doing this for myself, not for you.” sure, sure you big softie)
But before they do Loki gave the kids a bit of a push and both kid Tony and kid Stephen shyly comes over to Thor and Bruce to apologize and say thank you for looking after them all this time. They finished with a bow before running over for a big hug.
Peter suggested they take a photo before Loki undo the spell (”Guys! can I put this on snapchat?! I promise to make it private!!!”) and they began to pose with Tony being held by Bruce and doing a peace sign and Stephen sitting on Thor’s shoulder waving. Peter was set to take the photo before the kids protested to ask Uncle Loki to be in the photo too which Loki at first refused but then relented in joining when Thor and Bruce asked him to as well. Loki stood between Thor and Bruce with one hand doing a bunny ear sign on Stephen’s head and the other on Tony’s head
When the photo was taken and a flash appeared: Thor and Bruce collapsed under heavy weight of Stephen and Tony back to their normal forms. Confused as ever and getting up and dusting themselves whilst apologising to Thor and Bruce and seeing Loki and Peter there as well while they are all standing inside of Thor and Bruce’s small bedroom. They clearly had no memory of what has happened during the past week and no one really want to tell them either.
Tony and Stephen leaves only to find a large spaceship descending right accross Thor and Bruce’s apartment blaring Sakaar’s top 40. Tony and Stephen are ready to get in combat mode but Loki merely saunters over confidently ready to be whisked away.
Bruce and Thor stands next to each other as they watch a confused Tony and Stephen, the spaceship opening and Loki entering and the descending away and then Bruce’s phone beeping because he just received one message from Peter of the photo that was just taken of them moments ago. Bruce smiles.

My Hero Academia Characters as Disney Songs (Part 2)
Mezo Shoji: Colors Of The Wind -Pocahontas
Shoji looks... terrifying, in many ways. However, Shoji is mature, gentle, and a really amazing friend. To me he encompasses Colors Of The Wind in the way that he sees and believes there is more to life than we see, being there for others comes before any other material things of life. He’s a true gentle soul and he cares about others deeply, he will put others before himself and I admire that, and I can’t wait to see more of him.
Kyoka Jirou: Immortals -Big Hero 6
This song is another song that fits the character in the feeling of the song and less in the lyrics. I love where this song is played in Big Hero 6 with the “becoming a hero” montage and I think if there was ever a montage of Jirou being the badass she is, this is the song I’d want to see it to, because she’s so great. I adore her and this song is one that I kept going back to for her so it ended up being the one for her.
Hanta Sero: The Bare Necessities -The Jungle Book
I want a full hour of just following Sero around if I’m perfectly honest. The Bare Necessities is a song that to me fit Sero because like Kaminari he’s a chill guy, but he seems to me like the sort of guy that will find the solution to things and keep working forward.
Fumikage Tokoyami: Darkwing Duck Theme Song/ Mufasa Dies - The Lion King (Instrumental)
This was all fully @tharroswrites. I don’t even have a comment beyond I laughed for ages listening to this song and imagining Tokoyami. Tokoyami was hard to find a song for, and once Tharros sent me this one I couldn’t see anything else but Tokoyami in this intro. If you want something more emotional though, I’d suggest Mufasa Dies from The Lion King - yes, where the song is used doesn’t relate to Tokoyami, however, the changing beats and rhythm of the song I feel carries this softness and eeriness to it that I feel matches Tokoyami and Dark Shadow. While Dark Shadow is his greatest ally, there from when he was young, it’s also his biggest downfall and that must be terrifying, to lose yourself in the darkness to something that is a dear friend, and I feel the emotional power of Mufasa Dies from The Lion King carries that weight.
Shoto Todoroki: Frozen Heart/Let It Go -Frozen
Okay so I know ha-ha Shoto and Frozen because of his quirk, but actually. First is Frozen Heart, which I love for him because of how Todoroki due to his father and what it drove his mother to do grew to have a frozen heart, uncaring about everyone because it was so much to deal with, which follows the lyrics of Frozen Heart but much like the song says, it’s a frozen heart worth mining. The second song I know is so overplayed, but it’s so important to Todoroki growth wise. In the movie this is the song of Elsa accepting her powers and saying screw it to everything she thought and felt about her power and just accepting it, seeing the size and beauty of her power, much like Todoroki is with his own - with both sides of his quirk. Its a song about growth and acceptance after years of fear and self restraint and if that isn’t Todoroki, I don’t know what is.
Toru Hagakure: When Will My Life Begin Reprise -Tangled
Hagakure is just *bubbly* she seems to look at life with a positive attitude I love and I wish we got more of her. She’s cute and fun and I think she sees the world as this big bright place to be a part of, and being a hero here is where her story truly begins!
Katsuki Bakugou: I Just Can’t Wait To Be King -The Lion King
MY BOY! Bakugou could have easily been other songs, but to me, none but this one fit him best. This song is all Simba as a young cub singing about how the spotlight is going to be on him, how being King will be the time where he is in charge and things will change, seeing things through a child’s glasses with no idea how much it actually takes to be King. In a similar way, Bakugou has always been very aggressive about being a hero, he’s still a child in many ways(although he’s growing a lot as of late and I love it) and because of that I chose this song, because Bakugou hasn’t really realized being a hero is more than just being badass, its about also - even inf your own way - helping and working with others. Bakugou is a character that has and has been going through a lot of growth and that’s why I loved this song for him.
Izuku Midoriya: Out There -The Hunchback of Notre Dame/I Can Go The Distance -Hercules
Again, two songs. The first is Out There from The Hunchback of Notre Dame where Quasimodo singing about just wanting to be Out There among the people and how he admires them and wants to be with them - to me that’s Deku looking at all the Heroes he’s admired for so long and he just wants to be a part of them, wants to not just look up to them but also become one of them and as we see - he does. The second one is just that, his hard work and passion to become a hero. I Can Go The Distance is a song that always makes me emotional, because it’s so raw and powerful, it’s all about hope and hard work and this song is all about heart and that’s what Deku is.
Minoru Mineta: A Girl Worth Fighting For -Mulan
I mean do I really need to explain why? Men singing about their unrealistic expectations and desires of a woman made just for them, uh yeah, it’s pretty Mineta.
Momo Yaoyorozu: Reflections/Mulan’s Decision -Mulan
One of the moments I was truly sold and fell in love with Momo was in her Final Exam with Todoroki. Her hesitation, her insecurities, her wanting to be better but also seeing how much better Todoroki looked to her despite starting at the same place really added depth to her character and it made me happy to see someone who I think of as a total badass hesitating much like I do at times, and that’s why I chose Reflections for her, because its mellow and about not wanting to disappoint, wanting to be herself and be better - but I followed it with the instrumental of Mulan’s Decision because Momo doesn’t stay down - she picks herself and her confidence back up and keep fighting. HOW BADASS IS THAT?! And she proves it. She proves she deserves that Hero spot and that she’s got the brains and heart to become and amazing Hero not just because of her quirk but before of who she is.
Part 1(The rest of class 1-A)/Part 3(Pro Heroes and Villains)
THANK YOU @tharroswrites and @ualright for listening to me babble about this for ages and giving me tons of suggestions for each character because they are amazing and I’m so lucky to have them. THAT IS ALL!

Shitpost AU or bodyguard AU 👀
How about both? 👀
Shitpost AU (specifically for the Zalivan Arc there’s more than five here lol)
Zarkon has recently moved to this space station with his son, Lotor, following an amicable seperation from his wife cause their lives were going in completely different directions. His old friend Alfor is the one who got him a job at Marmora University, where Kolivan works as a librarian.
Zarkon and Kolivan meet because Zarkon needs to get things copied for his first class. They get into an argument about how Zarkon didn’t put in an order and Kolivan isn’t just going to let him cut in line and Zarkon pulls a “I want to see your manager” only for Kolivan to say “Well I’m the manager… because the actual manager is out for the day since her daughter is having a kid” … zarkon is super embarrassed about it later and alfor tries to calm him down because he thinks zarkon pissed off the actual head librarian.
“vini doesn’t hold grudges” “… i never said it was vini” “…….. oh… oh, you pissed off kolivan” “… great, that makes me feel so much better :)”
Zarkon’s idea for apologizing to Kolivan for being a jerk is to get them coffee… and then his idea for getting close to kolivan involves signing lotor up for the book club that kolivan runs for kids after school.
lotor does not have a filter :) this leads to much embarrassment for his father
And yet neither one makes a goddamn move. zarkon is a wreck over it and keeps asking the rest of the humanities department (which is made up of the og paladins + coran) for advice, kolivan is a pining mess who legitimately thinks that zarkon and blaytz are dating just because blaytz is helping zarkon with courting advice
It’s okay tho, and it works out in the end. by the time all the other romance arcs in this au are happening (and there’s quite a few), Zarkon and Kolivan have been married for like twenty years and are on kid number five :’)
Bodyguard AU
Zarkon has two moms, one of whom is the Empress. He was raised in luxury at the palace and is an only child.
Kolivan is the youngest of three, with two older sisters named Kiran and Kylan. Their living parent, Kader, was recently called to the capital to serve with the royal guard as a weaponsmith. The whole family moves there from a small town in a far off province when Kolivan is about three.
Kolivan and Zarkon (who is about the same age), meet because Kolivan got separated from Kader while they were exploring the palace. The two take to each other right away and remain friends all throughout their childhoods and adolescence.
Zarkon is never able to beat Kolivan in sparring matches when they’re kids (think simba and nala from the lion king lmao)
After meeting Kolivan, Zarkon immediately told his mothers about the pretty cub he just met and so begins the longest fucking pining session you will ever see in your life. I’m dead serious. Zarkon pines after Kolivan for twenty years, and doesn’t even realize he like likes them until they come back from training to be a member of the royal guard and are assigned to him as a personal bodyguard.
While Kolivan was away at training, Zarkon and them kept in contact via letters to each other because they didn’t want to lose contact. They both kept every single letter.
Half of the palace suspects they’re involved with one another, and the other half is hopelessly clueless. It makes Zarkon’s entrance to his Kral Zera where he full on smooches Kolivan on the mouth one of the most scandalous in history, and much betting money is exchanged as a result.
“If you weren’t so stubborn, you would make a great consort.” “I would make a great consort because I’m so stubborn!”
send me an au and i’ll give you 5+ headcanons about it

Hey! I would like to ask for some Vermillion and Silva headcannons if the families were living in a modern world and maybe for the Black Bulls too? If it's not to much! Thanks!
Thanks for the ask, I will give it my best! :D
Mereoleona: Maybe in the Military, but she would also be awesome as a chef or sous chef in a high class restaurant. I could see her in a workplace thats a bit more secluded, as she doesnt like the fuss politics and economie bring with them. She owns a harley, next to a more practical jeep, and she loves to spend her vacations by making tours on her baby. She also loves Leatherjackets. In her free time she participates in Kickboxing-classes, sometimes even teaching the class when the instructor doesnt show up. Her house is full with weights and she has two maine coon cats (called Simba and Nala, because, even though shed rather die than to admit it, she loves the Lion king and never got over Mufasas death. She quietly checked up on Leon and her father when she couldnt sleep to make sure they were fine and still there)
Leon: He would make a great trainer for a famous team, whatever kinda sport. He probably would take over the familys business, though. It would fit, if their family has something to do with sports equipment. But actually, he is the perfect man for the job of police captain or higher up. Also much political influence, give due to his lineage. Before working he graduated from Law school and is an certificated Lawyer. He is also big on saving animal and helps fighting for their rights in his free time, especially big cats.
Leo: still in school, but he aspires to be like his bro. Hes great in Sports of all kind, and even the Captain of the soccer team. Apart from that he plays tennis, basketball, does judo, rows, and if you would place him on top of a horse he would even manage that. He still lives at home, but he is over at Leons so often that he has Keys, some stuff stored in a closet and the Pull-out couch is also always reserved for him.
Mimosa: Also still in school, wants to become a doctor since she was 5. She is pretty grown up, even for her age, and is a school council member. Sometimes she models for Kirsch, because she still loves him, even though they fight often. She likes to help the underprivileged by tutoring them, this way she met asta, who is a pupil on her sisterschool.
Kirsch: Hes in college and studys fashion and design. He also works as a model, has gotten a role in a movie and runs his own fashion and make-up brand. (Keeping up with Kirsch is a running Headline in boulevard magazines)
Nozel: He would either make a kick-ass attorney or judge (with customized robes), but also be great as head of a company that has to do with aviary systems, satellites, planes or else. Also he has influence on politics and plans to run as major in the future. He is pretty old fashioned when it comes to his freetime-activities. He collects art, stamps and researches birds in quiet. Sometimes he funds expeditions to discover more about rare species, or integral nature reserves. He also bought many plots of lands, where endangered Birds live, all across the world, because the ongoing destruction of their habitat and their extinction is bothersome to him. He has degrees in law and business and is a wanted Single on the market, a circumstance that has led to him living more and more secluded, in the company of a grey parrot. (it once belonged to his mother and sometimes it would say sentences it copied from her)
Nebra: Nobody knows what Nebra does. Nobody dares to ask. She clouds herself in mist and mysteries. She probably works for the government.
Solid: He goes to college, majors in either business or law, because the family wants him to do that. Actually he is more a partyguy, the typical fratboy. Obviously, the frat is like completely his because Silvas of many generations were members. Also he has a thing for fast silver cars. Nozel hopes he will grow out of this eventually.
The Bulls: Okay, this one is tough, I have tried to think of a place where a bunch of adults, teens and kids can live together at. So how about they are all neighbors in a House with cheap rent, and over time they formed a big family?
Noelle: She goes to school, and after she was kicked out she emancipated herself. She moved into the Black bull mansion and lives from her allowance. She works as a waitress in the cafe-bar-restaurant on the groundfloor of the building.
Asta: He and Juno both got scholar ships, he especially for his physical abiltys, but the money wasn’t quite enough for an accomodation, so he lives in a small, run down 1-room apartement and also works in the restaurant, but as a bouncer.
(No, im sure its not legal for minors to work in such a place, but they need the money)
Finral: is a manager and bartender, ran away from home and landed there. After his family got more and more abusive he couldnt stay any longer and nearly ended up as a gigolo, but Yami saved his behind before he could self destruct. He still has the bad habit of flirting with every woman he sees, and hes a day dreamer, but all he wishes for is to find the perfect wife, to have many children and be a stay at home dad. He has a lot of love to give and many holes in his heart to fill. For the time being he is something like the eldest brother of the bulls, and whenever someone has to disappear because some investigations are going on, he knows of many hiding spaces and secret escape-ways.
Vanessa: Also ran way from home because of her abusive mother, is from another country and was found by yami shortly after she ran away. Now she also works as a bartender and sometimes as waitress. She has great talent with sewing, crocheting, making and changing clothes. She takes on jobs on the low from the bulls and other people, she even sells some of her works over the internet.
Gordon: Due to his shyness and anxiety he chose to move into a rather antisocial environment, but got aggressively adopted anyways by the bulls. He makes money as accountant, for the Bulls and over the internet.
Gauche: basically, his story is the same, and after his imprisonment was over hes out on probation) Yami got him a room in the building. Sometimes he works as a bouncer, when they are short on staff, otherwise he works in a library or old book shop. During the nights he takes online classes to graduate from school, so he can one day get a well paying job to provide Mary with all the money she needs to get through live easily.
Magna: Is a punk who got picked up by Yami one day, after he and Luck fought in front of the black bulls base. He works at a local shelter, and plays baseball with kids at the community center. Hes a good guy with a tough demeanor. He also tries to help Yami whenever he can, with whatever he can.
Luck: After his mother died he was sent to a social living community, where his attitude to fight everyone was only strengthend. He ran away after an especially bloody fight and landed on Magnas hometurf. They got into a fight, which woke Yami up, and so he and Magna both ended up living there. Yami said, it was so they could attone for their sin of disturbing his sleep. Luck and Magna share a 2-Room flat, because there weren’t that many 1-room ones left. He works as a courierboy and is known for his quick deliverys, but he also really has a knack for electro-engineering. He plans to graduate, too, someday and to open up his own business.
Charmy: Nobody exactly knows where Charmy comes from exactly. She just turned up one day after she saw, that the Bulls looked for a chef. She only talks about food, and the bulls understood after a while that she really does not want to talk about her past or family. All they know is that she is smaller than average for her age and that her obsession with food could come from shortages of that in her early life.
Gray: Is a nonbinary youth who ran away and lived on the streets. They like to change their looks, now that they make money by working for the black bulls, often just washing dishes, restocking and such. They are great at adapting to new jobs, if these dont require much human interaction. Also the peptalks from the bulls really help. They also posses a great talent for theater works, such as costume design and make up. If they weren’t so shy they would be a great actor too.
Zora: He is one of those inhabitants that come and go. Mostly hes some kind of lone wolf crusader, some sort of social justice warrior who either helps the poor when he sees them being mistreated or posts videos showing misconduct of upperclass jerks. He has a whole network going on, and often sends his videos to the police or news senders, if he has the feeling, that the law enforcement is sweeping something under the rug. He has a high IQ and is proficient in hacking. His mask is his sign, he always wears it when hes in action.
Yami: He is the son of immigrants, or was an illegal immigrant himself. If that was the case, i can imagine that Julius helped him getting citizen status after Yami stopped a Criminal on the run who just happened to run into his direction, looking dangerous and armed. He either is a Detective (private, not police), a headhunter or probation officer. Could also be a cop. Also he runs the Black Bulls bar, mostly so the inhabitants have a place to work at.
- The Vermillions main Mansion would be huge, but more modern. Much space, training rooms, sports equipment, Medals, trophys and certificates won in various tournaments of all kinds by Mereo, Fuego and Leo covering a whole room.
-The Silvas Mansion would also be huge, but more in a Victorian ‘This house belonged to our family for generations’style. The colourscheme is cold, lots of Silva, blues and dark wood. Also so many chandeliers. So many. Also the family crest is everywhere. Its a place that could easily become a filmset for a historical movie.
-They don’t have their name on the Postbox, just the crest. Thats how extra they are about it. (This has also often led to drunk or confused people thinking they are some sort of special church, and then trying to enter the house. These incidents always end with unamused Silvas)
- All the eldest children have moved out of their main Mansions, and live in Flats, Appartments and Mereo in a small house a bit out of the city. They all only come back together for celebrations or in cases of emergencies.
-The Black bulls Castle is officially Julius property, because he has the money and power, also he wants to help his eldest son Yami out. Its a total mess, but the Bulls manage to repair most of it themselves. They love their broken down house so much, the started to call it their castle on the clouds, mostly because it is the biggest building they’ve ever lived in, with more luxury they ever imagined they would ever get to enjoy.

Kids are never as innocent in real life as they are on television
I really want to just out all the kids that were jerks to me when I was young. I wonder now if the reason therapists ask you to start off “where it all began” is because it’s kind of just sinfully fun to complain about pitiful child stuff no one else would care to hear about. It would be a good trick to get people to open up, if that’s the case. I’m going to present this in the form of vignettes. Some will be funny and some will be sad. Daycare- When I first had chicken and dumplings, I thought the caregiver said “chicks and ducklings”. I cried  and refused to eat chicken and dumplings ever again. Probably my first vegetarian tendency.
I moved.
Kindergarten - This kid was spinning a train puzzle on his finger- I told him not to “because the teacher said not to”. He sneered at me and asked, “what you gonna do about it?”, probably like someone he had seen on tv. I went to the other side of the room to glare at him, and watched as the puzzle flew from his finger across the room and hit my eye. As the new kid, no one wanted to play with the girl with the scary black eye.
I moved. Kindergarten?- My parents both work full time. They were probably about 22. I remember when my mother took me to the store to pick one toy she could afford. It was before my siblings were old enough to be with us, and I remember the small purple toy horse I spent an hour picking out as my mother patiently watched. My heart felt effervescent as I pulled stubbornly at the tough thick plastic box, searched for and worked at the small metal twist ties, and breathed in the smooth new plastic smell. The Plastic was smooth and velvety, and the horse’s hair was silky and stayed in the same position regardless of how you tugged at it. When my parents were gone and I stayed home with my old ocd great aunt in her dark and creepy home filled with wood furniture, the bright purples and pinks of this small horse reminded me of the bright mornings when my mom could be home and make me breakfast. My OCD aunt had giant lifeless dolls that were bigger than me, that sat in her front room. When I was dropped off there, the dolls would stare with wide blank eyes, in a room full of lace and dust. I hated dolls because of them. The girl next door was mean and I didn’t realize it. She always wanted to play with her dolls, but i told her i didnt like dolls and wanted to play with the lion king toys. She would make her simba and nala toys disappear behind her dollhouse rooms, and make them “have sex”. I didnt know what sex was, and was annoyed because lions roar and don’t make the sounds she made for them. If I corrected her, her she’d make me go home to my aunt. One day, I brought my purple horse to show my friend. I was so proud, because my horse was as pretty as the ones she kept in her big toy box. She complimented me. Said my horse was pretty. Could she play with it? I could play with her orange horse in the meantime. I don’t want your orange horse. You cut her mane all weird, and she has pen marks on her legs. She called her mom. Her mom scolded me, said that good friends share toys. I felt like something sharp was in my throat, but I complied, and the mom left. She made my purple horse “have sex” again. I told her that’s not what sound horses make when they trot or whinny. She made me leave.  As I was leaving, I asked for my horse back. She said no. I asked why, and she said, “You agreed I could play with it, remember? That means we traded. It’s mine now. no give backs.” I didn’t know that’s how trading works. I gripped the orange horse as I rode home, and scrunched my nose at the pen marks on her legs. I puzzled over the idea of trading, and wondered if I was bad at it because I had moved and didn’t have a lot of friends like her. When I got home, I realized my purple horse lived with her now, and I cried again. Then I moved.
1st grade?-  A kid sat next to me during lunch. He would put all of his food in the center of his tray, and stir it together with his chocolate milk. I asked him not to, it was gross. He said, “good for you”, probably like he heard from a big kid or a movie. I said it wasn’t good for me, it made me feel sick. good for you. Why are you saying that over and over? good for you. stop doing that! good for you. And then I remembered a line from the lion king, my favorite movie. Thinking about the Lion King made me feel better. I rubbed my temples like scar did, and said, “I’m surrounnnded by imbeciles.” He raised his hand, and told the lunch lady that I called him an imbecile. I cried. I moved.
2nd grade?- I had my first real bully. She would stare at me for a long time with a blank look. What is it? I can see your braaaa strap. Guys, She wears a braaaa! My mom said it was normal. I was chubby for my age, and I needed one. The doctor had told me I needed to eat less or I’d be obese and short when I was older. I was self conscious, and my face burned. She stared intensely at me. What is it? You have a unibrow, like a caveman! She stared at me harder. I cried again. I had finally made some friends, and we had a school sock hop. My mom had to work late that day, and we got there just as the fake elvis was leaving. I ran into a girl I had met, and she told me I really missed out. It was really fun. Then I moved. 3rd Grade?- This was a good year. A teacher told me once that when you grow up, some people dissect baby pigs and cats. I cried. My friend told me that she owned cows, and had one that was her pet. They’re as smart as dogs. That’s why she doesn’t eat beef. This was my second tendency towards being a vegetarian. 4th Grade- I learned to love books. I also learned that people would like me if I drew pokemon for them.  I had a favorite pikachu backpack filled with pokemon cards that I wore everywhere. My uncle would tease me for it, and one day he pressed on the nose really hard. I asked him to stop- he was hurting pikachu. He pressed harder, until the nose ripped from the face. he kept pressing until his finger disappeared in the face, and the nose deep into the stuffed head. My pikachu had a hole where the nose was. I cried. I moved. 5th Grade- I ran for student council. I had another bully. We were running for president, and he would tell me I was an idiot for running since I was new. No one would vote for me. But that’s what people say to the main character when they are about to go on a journey, so I took it as a challenge. I spent several nights after school making buttons and a big poster. Putting the giant poster up was the best feeling- I was going to overcome all odds. I took the plastic baggy of little smiling cat faces to school, with little safety pins to clip them to your shirt. I stood by the door to recess and passed them out, asking people to vote for me. One girl said sorry, she was voting for her friend. another kid said they’re voting for so and so because they were in class with him in 1st grade. I had three pins left. it wasn’t too late. The next kid I handed it to said thanks, then threw it on the floor and stepped on it. I felt an ache in my throat. I walked to the playground, and saw more pins on the dirt.  On the way back to class, I saw a poster on the wall that belonged to my bully. There was a cool cartoon guy running from a herd of ugly pirates, with names above all of them. His name was above the cool guy, and mine was above the biggest and fattest one in the back. I remembered the doctor, and felt my too-tight pants. Later in student council, there was an announcement- there was some unsportsmanly conduct they needed to address. I was so excited- now was the time in the movie where all the bullying came to an end.  It didn’t. I told to go take my poster down because of the mouse holding stinky cheese in the corner of my big cat poster, that said, “don’t have some other stinky president!” I lost the race. And then I moved. That’s the end of my childhood gripes.

PruAus - Morning
Words: 3,5k Pairing: Gilbert x Roderich Warnings: Pure fluff, my unawareness on different types of breakfast, may include some feels
So, even though I’m fricking busy with my two cosplays, since convention is in two weeks, I decided to relieve my stress by writing cute fluff fic of one of my favorite otp (you don’t want to even know how many otps I have). Have this fluff fic of Gilbert and Roderich’s lazy morning. :3
Sun shone inside the room, lighting up mess that was covering the floor. Two bodies lied together under the covers, sleeping soundly and peacefully. The morning was silent.
Soon silence was broken, when one of them woke up ruffling the blanket to sit up.
Roderich yawned and scratched his head, squinting, so his eyes would adjust light. He reached for his glasses, putting them on and grabbed his phone to check the time.
It was still pretty early in the morning and sun was still rising, but it lighted up the room enough to be bright.
Man stretched little and looked down at his waist, where pair of arms were wrapped around it. He looked at his boyfriend, who was slightly snoring still in a deep sleep.
Roderich smiled little and moved the blanket over to get up, but arms tightened around him more. He heard inaudible mumbling next to him. With a sigh, he reached down to pet silky white hair and ruffled it little.
“Lazy mornings, remember Roddy? You promised,” sleepy voice whined.
“Yes, Gilbert. I do remember,” Roderich sighed with a smile.
“What time it is?” the sleepy mess questioned, scooting bit closer to his boyfriend.
“It’s seven o’clock,” man answered.
“Oh hell no! Too early!” Gilbert cried out and pulled Roderich violently top of him, pulling the covers on both of them.
Roderich tried to guard his glasses and snickered, when he landed on his boyfriend: “I can’t help it if I’m used to wake up so early every morning.”
“You should quit,” Gilbert mumbled.
“What? My sleeping habit or my job?” Roderich chuckled.
“Everything. You’re too much away. Always business this, business that. You never stay here cuddling with me,” older man complained and turned them to side, nuzzling his face to his boyfriend’s neck.
Roderich shivered and smiled petting Gilbert’s head. It was true that he was traveling a lot because of his job so they really didn’t have time for each other. But he was grateful that Gilbert was always there waiting for him. With flowers. He always had flowers with him.
“Believe me, I would take you with me if I could,” Roderich said.
Gilbert hummed and snuggled, sniffing Austrian’s neck. He loved that sweet fresh scent that had bit flowery in it. Man couldn’t really tell what, since he wasn’t familiar with flowers’ scents.
“So if you know that you’re away too much, then don’t get up just yet. You should praise these lazy moments,” he said tightening his hold.
Roderich raised his eyebrows. His boyfriend is wild, fierce, stubborn and rude, but even he has a side that reveals him to be caring, kind, sweet and generous. People call him crazy for his reckless acts, but that doesn’t make him dumb. Vice versa, he’s the most thoughtful man Roderich have ever met, if you just get to know him.
Even with these facts in mind sometimes it surprised the Austrian to hear his boyfriend speak such sweet and heartfelt things.
Gilbert took man’s glasses and put them on the nightstand, wrapping his arm back around his boyfriend’s waist. “Now. Sleep,” he said burying his face back into Austrian’s  neck.
Roderich rolled his eyes and sighed. He wrapped his arms around Gilbert, pressing his head against man’s chest, listening to his steady breathing.
It would be a lie, if the Austrian said he wouldn’t miss lazy mornings too. He himself might be very strict and tidy, doing things with class and perfection, not showing much emotion towards people, but even he wants sometimes to let loose and be lazy.
Luckily he has boyfriend, who can convince him to relax once in while.
Gilbert takes him out as much as possible. From fancy restaurants to simply watch night sky at hills eating take out food. Their interactions varied from heated conversations to complete silence. They never fought, unless other one was going to do something extremely stupid, but otherwise they just argued and bickered.
Roderich closed his eyes listening the silence of their room and his boyfriend’s breathing. He truly was happy with Gilbert even if others say they’re complete opposite.
But aside what everyone says, they love each other very much and are not afraid to say it or show it to the other. They rarely say ‘I love you’s but they show it through actions and affection. Small things the other one do, can complete other one’s day.
In public, they don’t act like lovey dovey couple that are head over heels with one another, but keep it simple and clear. Holding hands and being close.
There still are some people, who don’t pick up the hint and try to get too close. Roderich simply gets jealous and silent, but Gilbert is more vocal about it. He’s even ready to grind Roderich to show, who he belongs to. But usually he earns a slap to the face so he doesn’t do it anymore. At least not much.
Couple of hours went by and Roderich woke up much more relaxed and bit sleepy.
Pair of eyes were staring down at him and he saw other one’s mouth turn to a wide grin.
“Morning Sleeping Beauty,” Gilbert chuckled, stroking man’s hair.
“Have you been staring at me this entire time?” Roderich asked yawning.
“Nah, I just woke up. Noticed that you were still asleep, so I didn’t want to move. Your sleeping face is so adorable,” Gilbert said and kissed his boyfriend’s forehead.
Roderich blushed a little and mumbled: “You’re the one who’s adorable here. Claim to be the greatest and fearless one, yet cannot sleep without me.”
“It’s too cold and empty without you. Pillows aren’t good hug buddies,” Gilbert pouted.
Roderich snorted at the mental image and kissed man’s cheek ruffling his hair. He was too adorable for his own good.
“But I’m hungry. Let’s go eat something,” Gilbert said and sat up.
“I thought this was supposed to be lazy morning? Not getting up?” Roderich questioned, looking up at his boyfriend.
“I don’t feel like lazy when I’m hungry,” man answered.
“Then what do you feel?” Austrian asked.
“Pissed off,” Gilbert pouted.
Roderich let out a long sigh. Did he forgot to mention that Gilbert was extremely childish from time to time?
“Well there’s a lot options. I think we have some cereals left,” he tried to remember.
“I don’t want any half assed breakfast on this awesome day. I need an awesome breakfast for this awesome morning. French toast and eggs. You make eggs, leave the rest to me,” Gilbert said and shot up from the bed.
“Full English breakfast I see,” Roderich said and sat up.
“Go big or go home,” Gilbert chuckled.
“Isn’t that what your friend Alfred says?” Roderich asked unamused raising his eyebrow.
“Sharing is caring. Besides it fits my awesome personality,” Gilbert laughed.
“Right,” Austrian said, still unamused and got up, reaching for his glasses.
Gilbert walked behind him and hugged him, leaning his head against his shoulder: “Aw, did you get mad at me?”
“No. I simply find your sayings very unamusing,” Roderich said putting his glasses on.
“Ouch. Cold,” man said lifting his head up, looking bit offended, but Roderich simply snickered at him.
Nether of them bothered to change their clothes, when they walked in the kitchen. Well, not that there was anything to change. Roderich was wearing Gilbert’s t-shirt and comfy pants, while Gilbert only had his underwears on.
They worked in silence only plates and pans clanging here and there. Soon kitchen was filled with delicious smell of food. Roderich took plates to table, while Gilbert followed behind with two filled cups.
“Hot chocolate?” Roderich questioned, when saw the mugs.
“Figured we drink too much coffee for our own good. Besides, we’re gonna lazy this day through so where do we need coffee? I wanna stay lazy,” Gilbert said and place one mug beside his plate and the other next to Roderich’s plate.
Both sat down to eat in a comfortable silence, enjoying the food and the company. Sun was already shining brightly outside, waking people up to their daily life. Mornings had become more warmer and spring was slowly closing in.
There was still small amount of snow covering grass and people’s rooftops, flowers and trees starting to slowly bloom despite the cold.
“This is so delicious. We should do this more often,” Gilbert said mouth full, still stuffing more in.
Roderich chuckled: “If we would do this everyday, it would lose its spark.”
Gilbert nodded in agreement and kept eating. He was too busy with food to give a full length answer.
After breakfast, they left their dishes at the sink dealing with them later. Gilbert tried to drag Roderich back to bed, but Austrian resisted, wanting to do something else.
Gilbert pouted and picked Roderich up, throwing him over his shoulder and carried him towards bedroom, but man grabbed from edge of his underwear stretching it out and then let go, so it snapped back nastily leaving stinging feeling behind. Gilbert let out few curse words, eventually put his boyfriend back down.
Roderich chuckled at Gilbert’s sour face and pinched his cheek, but the other grabbed his wrist and pulled the man against him. They stared deep into each other’s eyes. Roderich was unable to read Gilbert’s grinning face, until felt hand ghosting under his shirt.
He quickly pulled away, trying to keep his shirt down. Man gave a warning glare, but Gilbert kept the same grin, creeping closer reaching his hands out.
“No,” Roderich said pointing his finger at him, backing off .
“C’me here kitty, kitty,” Gilbert chuckled slowly closing.
Roderich tried to run past him, but was unfortunately caught and was lifted in the air, pose looking quite close like Simba’s ceremony in Lion King.
Austrian tried to kick air, hoping it would help, but other had better hold on him. Gilbert brought Roderich back down, still tightly holding on him, while pinching and poking man’s sides.
Roderich plead for release and tried to struggle off, but Gilbert tickled him even more. Austrian let out chuckles and half laughs, when tried to get off, but Gilbert had better hold of him.
Eventually Roderich broke free and launched himself off from the other running around the house being chased by his boyfriend. He laughed after every dodge, but it only encouraged Gilbert to chase him more.
They both laughed running around, until Gilbert finally caught him and tackled them both on the couch, him being on top of Roderich.
They panted little, but few chuckles and laughs escaped every now and then.
“I won,” Gilbert smirked.
“Says who?” Roderich smiled smugly.
“The awesome me!” Gilbert said proudly, when sat up.
“Well, win this!” Roderich laughed and threw pillow at man’s face with force, making the other fumble back and he quickly got up, grabbing another pillow.
“Oh, I see how it is,” Gilbert chuckled clutching his pillow.
Roderich dodged the first strike and landed a hit on the back of Gilbert’s head making the other stumble a little. He let a out a small giggle which he hid behind the pillow, when his boyfriend looked at him sourly.
Gilbert charged at him and barely dodged another, managing to land his first hit on Roderich’s back. Man chuckled and hit Gilbert’s head, getting hit in return.
Pillow fight lasted for awhile. They kept hitting each other with pillows, while running round their house laughing. Roderich took his glasses off for their own sake, putting them somewhere safe while escaping from Gilbert.
Gilbert used his pillow as shield, blocking other’s hits. He laughed when his boyfriend got serious with it, trying to attack rapidly. Roderich was losing his chance to win, when the other man hit him more than he himself could. But he tried his best, not giving up. This game was going to end in his victory.
Roderich swung his pillow, but Gilbert duck down and tackled him, both ending lying back down on the couch.
After catching their breath, they laughed dropping their pillows. Gilbert stared at Roderich’s laughing face with a smile. They both stared at each other, before Gilbert leaned down for a kiss. Roderich kissed back. It was long, gentle kiss with sweetness in it.
Gilbert slowly parted their lips and stared down at his smiling boyfriend. He brushed few hair off his face and smiled.
“I love you. So much,” he said.
Roderich blushed little and chuckled: “I love you too.”
Gilbert felt his heart flutter and butterflies filled his stomach. He had heard the man said the same thing dozens of times, but it still caught him off guard.
He was still bit dazed that the man under him was indeed his boyfriend. He was sure that Roderich would push him off, when he revealed his feelings. But that didn’t happen. Instead, on that wintry night at frozen lake his feelings was returned with a fast and awkward kiss. Who knew that the Austrian felt the same way.
Beginning was awkward. They didn’t really know how the relationship worked or what they should do. Both drove to be perfect and tried to make everything work.
But it was obvious that they didn’t always met eye to eye.
They indeed were very opposite from each other, but soon they figured that that’s the trait they’re most fascinated about the other. Obviously they became more comfortable around each other after a bumpy start. Realizing that talking about their feelings wasn’t their strongest habit, but small gestures, touches and affections proved that the other was really trying.
They couldn’t even stay mad at each other for long. If they ever did it was because the other was genuinely worried of the other.
What both loved, was seeing the other side. Roderich heart picked up its pace whenever Gilbert showed any kind of gentleness. Even after their first time he wondered, how deep would he fall for this man.
They had fought before and pretty seriously too, but somehow ended up in bed. When Gilbert was about to move his face features got softer and voice gentler, assuring that he would be fine and that he would go slow first.
Every time Roderich thinks about their first time, he hides his face red shaded face.
Gilbert was fascinated and dazzled by Roderich’s smile and happiness. Whenever man let loose, laughing from bottom of his heart, it was adorable and cute yet mysterious and something he had to see more just to figure out, why it intrigued him.
Roderich barely laughed let alone smiled. But every time he did, it caught Gilbert off guard, making him stare at the other in confusion. He felt light headed and like butterflies would flutter in his stomach.
He loved the man’s laugh. He just wanted to record it and play it forever.
Under all that seriousness and strictness was joyful and somewhat adorable personality that showed slight side of care and gentleness.
 Especially with music.
My God, Gilbert couldn’t find words for his feelings, when he heard Roderich play his piano or violin. There were times, when he would just butt in with his flute, but usually he would just sit down and close his eyes listening the soft tunes of a piano or a violin.
But when Roderich played while laughing and watching others dance around his music, Gilbert really felt alive. His heart was filled with love and joy. He felt like his life had a purpose. And that purpose was to love Roderich. He felt like that man in front of him was his whole life and he would be lost without him.
 Gilbert needed Roderich.
He needed see Roderich let loose, laugh out of pure joy, and play his heart out. He needed to see that smile of the most handsome man. Gilbert wondered, how he had lived without such spark of light in his life.
Gilbert was woken from his thoughts with a same bright laugh that made his heart flutter, echoed in their living room.
Roderich smiled under him and said gently: “You’re right. Maybe I shouldn’t work so much. I can’t stress myself out, so I should take some time to myself. I have to make sure that my inspiration won’t disappear. Even though it’s right in front of me.”
It took Gilbert a moment to register Roderich’s words, before deeply blushing.
“Shut it,” he mumbled, but it only made the other one laugh.
Austrian pet his boyfriend’s cheek, slowly caressing. He was smiling softly and got up little bit to kiss him gently. Gilbert couldn’t help himself but to smile like an idiot and laugh of his embarrassment.
“What would you say if I took you to this new café nearby that was opened few days ago? It looks quite fascinating. I think it had its inspiration from history books. Especially the cakes look delicious,” Roderich suggested, petting Gilbert’s cheek.
“You’re one big sweet tooth, aren’t you?” Gilbert chuckled and kissed man’s forehead: “Sure. It’s a date then. ONLY if you let me treat you a dinner at a restaurant, when you come back from your business trip.”
Roderich rolled his eyes and laughed: “Deal.”
Gilbert chuckled and sat up, letting the Austrian sit up. They both still giggled and watched over the mess they had created, while having their pillow battle.
Roderich leaned against Gilbert’s shoulder and let out sigh of exhaustion.
“What will you be doing while I’m gone?” he asked.
Gilbert wrapped his arm around Roderich and scratched his own chin, looking thoughtful: “Ludwig called and asked me to watch over the dogs, while he himself is gone.”
“Where is he going?” Austrian asked looking confused.
“Well take a few guess,” Gilbert said with a big grin on his face.
Same wide grin spread on Roderich face and he laughed: “Oh that man is hopeless.”
Gilbert laughed and pulled him close: “He sure is! Perhaps he would need our helping hand.” His face turned smug, obviously planning something.
“Gilbert!” Roderich laughed and playfully slapped him.
Gilbert laughed too. He indeed had some plans to help his hopeless brother, who had a massive crush on this one very good looking man.
He looked at his boyfriend with a smiling face: “Although, who are we to say?”
Roderich snickered: “We aren’t that hopeless. Have some pride in you.”
Gilbert laughed and got up, walking to a shelf grabbing the glasses and returned them to the man: “I do have some pride. It’s the shining sun right in front of me.”
Roderich halted half way of taking his glasses. He stared at Gilbert for a moment before snatched his glasses putting them on and turned away with a blushing face, mumbling: “Don’t be so sappy. It doesn’t suit you.”
Gilbert chuckled and sat down next to Roderich, grabbing his chin and turned his head to face him, whispering: “But it reflects my true feelings towards you.”
Roderich whole face turned red and he hid it in one of the pillows, whining.
Man laughed and hugged his boyfriend: “Aw, is someone embarrassed? How adorable.”
“No, go away,” Roderich got up and walked away still blushing.
“C’mon Roddy,” Gilbert laughed and went after the Austrian, hugging him behind: “You’re so adorable, when you’re embarrassed.”
Roderich elbowed the man to stop his nonsense, but failed since Gilbert kept teasing him.
“Didn’t you have something to take care of?” he asked.
“Like what?” Gilbert asked resting his chin on Austrian’s shoulder.
“What about your little bird? Did you feed him at all?” Roderich asked.
“Shit! I totally forgot! Hang on little Gilbird, papa’s coming for you! ” Gilbert cried out as he ran off, disappearing into their music room, where they practiced together or alone.
Roderich let out a long sigh, rolling his eyes. Sometimes Gilbert managed to be pretty dumb, but he was his dumb boyfriend and he was damn proud of him.
After few minutes passed and Gilbert came back, yellow bird sitting top of his head.
“The awesome duo has returned,” he announced with a big laugh.
Roderich couldn’t do much else than facepalm, but chuckled little walking up to them. He took Gilbird on his finger lowering it between their faces.
“Papa’s a bit dumb don’t you think?” he asked and the bird chirped flapping its wings.
“Hey! No alliances against me! That’s forbidden,” Gilbert snapped
“What do you say Gilbird? Should we form an alliance against papa?” Roderich asked and the bird chirped again, sounding bit cheerful.
“This is so unfair. Turning my friend against me,” Gilbert pouted, crossing his arms.
Roderich placed the yellow bird top of his own head and kissed Gilbert’s cheek: “But you still love me.”
Gilbert sighed in defeat: “Yeah, I do.”
Austrian chuckled and walked away with the bird. Gilbert looked after him with a smile on his face. He still didn’t understand, why he had gotten so lucky, but he sure didn’t take it for granted.
He was so happy to be with the Austrian and promised himself to give all his love.
Gilbert wished that one day he could take the step further and propose Roderich. Weddings were going to be pain the ass, but seeing his boyfriend’s face make would make it all worth the trouble.
He shook his head, dismissing his daydreams going after Roderich. He had all the time in the world to do that.
Besides, if was going to do it, he was going to do it with style.

10 Lessons Learned In A Decade
Ten years ago today I graduated from SUNY Geneseo and - two hours later - hopped in a car with my mother to drive 20 hours to Granbury, TX for my first professional theatre gig at Texas Family Musicals.
And with that, I embarked upon the journey that has been my post-college adult life.
To say that a lot has happened in the past decade is an almost criminal understatement: I’ve lived in three states, made a home in NYC, made and lost friends (made far more though!), had people come in and out of my life, found my artistic home, grew as a teacher, writer, actor, singer, pianist, arranger, and overall human being, and oh so much more.
As much as people like to call our high school and college years our “formative” years, I think it’s in the decade after the college experience (or your twenties into the start of the thirties, for those who did not attend college) in which we truly discover who we are, what we want, and where we want to go.
So, in honor of this milestone, I would like to share just 10 of the lessons I’ve learned over this decade.
1. People Change
People love to throw around old adages about how “no one ever really changes” or “once a ___ always a ___,” and I’ll admit that these ideas sometimes have merit.
But, are any of us the same people we were ten years ago?
Not at all.
(I mean, even on a cellular level we’re not the same people.)
I have watched as the people around me have grown and changed throughout the past ten years and - for most everyone who is still in my life in some way - I am simply proud. Looking around and seeing how the people I love and admire have struggled to continue growing, learning, improving, failing and trying again, moving in new directions, and taking on new challenges - it makes my heart swell and renews my faith in humanity.
Of course there are always those who change in a way that takes them out of your life, and that’s okay too. We’re all on our own journey.
But people really do change, and I think it’s generally for the better.
2. Self-Care Is Not Optional
We all go through phases of good and bad self-care.
And we have all gone through that period of youth where we abuse our bodies and minds for a full weekend and then still somehow get up at 7am on a Monday and deliver great work.
But that’s not the norm for the majority of our lives. We need self-care.
What does that include?
Drink water
Get yourself some proper nutrition
Move - exercise, walk, hike, anything to keep moving
Treat yourself
Find a good morning routine
Forgive yourself
Be kind to everyone
Find the joy whenever you can
That would be my short list, but an important one nonetheless.
3. Hangovers After 28 Are Terrible
Truly.
Avoid them at all costs.
4. The People Are Your Future
We are taught to think about our futures as something that is “ours.” It’s a personal journey.
And we’re also taught to think about the people around us only in terms of the “now.”
But one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that the people around you in your now - no matter how long they do or do not remain in your life - are going to be a part of your future. And often, it’s an important part.
I’ve met some of my favorite people in the world over the past ten years, and many of them I met in situations where I was not actively looking for my heart to connect to another human, and yet it still did.
Here are just a few of those situations:
A small bar-gathering (that I did not want to go to) of my friend’s friends from a summer stock gig that I was not a part of - I met three wonderful friends and two future roommates that day.
Casting a Rochester Fringe production of my first original musical, PICk Love - Not only did I meet several brilliant friends from this, but it opened the door to my eventual BVT family.
Being asked to drive two co-teachers (who I didn’t work with) back to Queens from the studio during my second year - This is how I met one of my greatest friends and collaborators.
Getting changed for my bartending shift and (half-dressed) being asked to come meet the manager from one of our other theaters - An instant lifelong friend.
Attending the BMI Workshop as an auditor and eventual student - Two entire groups of my favorite people came from that one decision.
Keep your heart open - you never know who you may meet.
5. Unchecked Capitalism Is The Worst
Being a product of the Millenial experience, this is undeniable.
But looking back across the past ten years, it’s clear that every part of the financial and “adult” struggles have been due to a capitalist system that has been slowly stripped of its checks and balances.
And this is from a middle-class, cis, white guy.
6. Fall In Love As Often As Possible
I don’t necessarily mean romantic love - I mean, you do you - but all kinds of love.
Fall in love with work, with friends, with family, with yourself, with books, with stories, with art, with connections, with nature, with places, with movement, with travel, with anything that strikes your fancy.
If love isn’t the answer, then what’s it all for?
7. You Never Really Know Who You’re With
Too often we don’t pay enough attention to who is around us.
This can be in a super temporary sense:
Like the time I was standing next to Mark Ruffalo on a packed 7 train where no one seemed to notice him except me. He gave me that look of “oh you see me, please don’t make a fuss.” And no one else noticed, even when he squeezed his way off the train. Cell phones, y’all.
Or it can be simply treating people as though they are temporary. What happens when you lose track of people from your life?
I mean, I’ll say it, I’ve worked with and known some amazing people who I haven’t been able (for whatever reason) to stay in touch with, and who are now doing incredible things.
A couple examples:
I worked with David Hein and Irene Sankoff for a few months 10 years ago on a musical they wrote, just before they started writing Come From Away.
My roommate from that first gig I did in Texas - Bradley Gibson - has been playing Simba in The Lion King on Broadway the past two years. Casual.
Right after their summer having Dogfight Off-Broadway, I was the personal assistant to Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, right as they were beginning to work on their next three gigantic projects (yeah, those ones).
At the time, these were just people who I thought were talented and cool. You really never know where people are going to go next.
8. Do What You Love
I don’t necessarily mean that in the way of “make sure you love your job.”
But instead, take note of the things you love to do and incorporate them into your life regularly.
If it happens to also be your job - awesome, that’s great. If not, that’s okay too.
As long as you can take part in something that you love in order to help balance your life, the weight of the heavy stuff won’t feel quite as burdensome.
9. Vote And Promote
Change is slow, but it’s impossible without a vote.
And once you have this realization for yourself, I firmly believe it is up to you to help spread that message to everyone you can.
We have been allowed to raise our voices, but that right can also be taken away if we are not vigilant.
As my father likes to say, “Vote early, vote often.”
10. Your Story Is Far From Over
We don’t know what the future holds. I mean, we didn’t know what the past ten years would be as we were living them.
And milestones can be useful ways to look forward or backwards, or to set and evaluate goals.
But at the heart of it - if you are sitting here reading this - your story is not over.
Keep writing it, keep living it. All heroes have goals, suffer trials, experience new worlds, and have their lives turned upside down. And once a journey has ended, that ending is really just another beginning.
So, where to next?
Thank You
For everyone who has been a part of my past ten years, in any way, I just want to say thank you.
You have all helped shape me into the person I am today.
Stay healthy, stay well, stay home. Cheers!
