HEAD CANNON HILLS I PERSONALLY CHOOSE TO DIE ON:
Fight me (lol)
Bruce Wayne
Gray Hairs are mostly in and around his temples and beard- also he won’t dye it
Asexual but not sex repulsed (it just feels right)
Definitely experienced with makeup, sure to cover bruises and stuff but also he definitely had a phase where he wore eyeliner cause why not
Autistic
Dick Grayson
Crooked nose
Speaks some Roma still but has forgotten most of it, which makes him upset
People deffo thought he was gay all through school, and they weren’t wrong…or right (he’s some form of queer)
Gymnastics teacher as a side job
ADHD
Oldest Daughter SyndromeTM
Jason Todd
I think that Jason runs a book club with a bunch of middle aged women, and they talk about classic lit
Theater Kid (gay)
Good with kids, reluctantly
Has freckles
Hair is caused by Marie Antoinette syndrome
Struggled with body dysmorphia after being revived
Keeps all his receipts (they’re in a box in the kitchen) and is stingy with money
Tim Drake
Wears a Medical Identification bracelet for the spleen thing (it’s recommended guys I looked it up cause I’m normal)
Has acne
Chased Batman and Robin around with that damn camera (I fucking love this)
Has anxiety
Bisexual (not a HC but I thought I’d mention it)
Would eat the coffee grounds
Listens to video game osts
(Bring the skateboard back)
Damian
Strong nose
Just very strong features generally
Giggles, or full on cackles but there’s no In between
I think it’s be cute if he became an art therapist or a vet
Autistic
Cass
Cuts her own bangs, they look horrible<3
Lesbian
Tired to dye her hair once (with Steph and Babs)never again
Steph
Grew up in crime ally (idk where she lived so I choose to believe this- this could also be the truth, again I cannot remember rn)
Freckles
Butterfly Clips
Bisexual
Curly hair
Alfred
Had chased multiple people off of Wayne Manors premises with his shotgun ‘
Got second place in a chili cook off one time and still hasn’t recovered
Extra:
Dick and Jason are big into Taylor Swift, Jason because I think he’d like ballads/the lyrics in songs and Dick because he’s Dick
Selina Kyle actually likes the Robins, and her and Steph got along well
Jason and Steph have really thick Gotham accents, which I like to think is like a Jersey accent, Jason’s shows up more when he’s upset in any capacity, Steph’s is always there and was never trained out of her
Dick has this weird accent where it’s very clearly not anything American, but it’s not not American, and it’s because he moved so much and was around people woth so many different accents that his voice never settled on one
Damian talks to himself in Arabic- Jason knows a bit of it
Cass is a messy eater (this isn’t cannon is it?)
I think it’s be funny to imagine Tim, Cass and Steph going to High School together
Steph was that one girl in the Cookie Monster pjs in high school, and Tim was like this weird goth/skater kid

𝗠𝘆 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗵 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗻𝘀 #𝟭
ᗩ/ᑎ : this is just part 1, there is 100% gonna be more from me, but this is the first part. Also DISCLAIMER: these are “my” head canons for Gareth, we might not all agree on something about him so pls don’t get offended by any of these, please and thank you. Enjoy!
Tumblr media
♥︎ as we all know, he loves Dr. pepper, for sure his favorite/go to drink
♥︎ we all ofc see him as a big brother, I see him having one younger sister, I can imagine her name being something with a G like Gareth, Grace or something like that.
♥︎I don’t see Gareths dad being in his life, I 100% see a Joyce and Wills dad kinda thing, but also some Lexi and Cassie (euphoria) thing happening.
♥︎basically divorced parents, doesn’t hear from his dad and quite frankly doesn’t want to after all the shit he put him, his sister, and mom through. But still expects him to at least reach out once in a blue moon (which he does not)
♥︎ not controlling, but definitely gets extremely jealous very easily
♥︎ 100% skateboards, I can only see him riding the skateboard, I don’t see him being one to master flips and what not
♥︎favorite fruit is strawberries, you can’t change my mind.
♥︎ I don’t see him like Eddie and not knowing how to cook, I can see him knowing how to cook very well, and sometimes cooks dinner for his little sister when his mom is working night shift/ double shifts.
♥︎ best care taker, invites you over the nights his mom isn’t there and cooks for the 3 of you, you helping him put his sister to bed before going downstairs and watching scary movies before bed.
♥︎horror movie fanatic, this boy goes crazy for horror movies and laughs at times he shouldn’t but he can’t help it.
♥︎due to this, he probably takes so many trips to family video and I can see him and Steve having conversations and Gareth asking “what’s so special about you anyways? Henderson is constantly praising you at Hellfire, it’s getting annoying”
♥︎ favorite movie franchise is Friday the 13th, but I see that changing once the chucky movies comes out.
♥︎ can be a picky eater at times, someone who stays safe when it comes to going out to eat, chicken tenders/fingers with a side of fries if they have it is his safe option.
♥︎I don’t see him liking coffee
♥︎energy drinks is his caffeine
♥︎ not one for fancy places, happily settles on fast food
♥︎here me out, he watch’s wrestling, and loves it.
♥︎not a noisy sleeper but tends to move a lot (I’m the same way lol)
♥︎doesn’t smoke but will have a beer every now and then
♥︎definitely plays video games, takes trips to the arcade a few times a month, usually with Dustin or you.
♥︎ he definitely is an animal lover but not 100% capable of owning one himself.
♥︎ Polaroid pictures. Polaroid pictures. POLAROID PICTURES!!!!
♥︎ everyone says he would have his nails painted but I have to respectfully disagree, I don’t see him as one to have painted nails, I see that more in Eddie than anything, but definitely not Gareth
♥︎when he has free time and not with the band/hellfire, he likes to do drum covers on songs he likes or does songs you like to impress you.
♥︎Halloween is his favorite day of the year
♥︎has a good relationship with your parent(s)
♥︎consent king, always asking if this and that is okay, even just kisses on the cheek sometimes.
♥︎I can see him liking science class but hating every other class
♥︎usually skips gym class
♥︎his favorite artificial flavor is cherry
♥︎steals food off your plate
♥︎ he secretly loves love songs. He loves ‘head over heels’ by tears for fears.
♥︎ BONUS: if you were a cheerleader, he would come to your practices and pep rally’s but would sit in the corner somewhere or some place where you would have to look extra hard to find him, not because he doesn’t wanna be seen with you but because he doesn’t wanna hear any snarky comments from one of the jocks.

I’ve lived my life in fear of being violated and hit by black people where I grew up. Obviously not all black people but many I didn’t know on the streets or in school. The dangerous ones were always watching other people and would use any excuse, real or imagined, to attack someone especially of a different race for just breathing in the wrong direction. Kind of like a police officer does. Ghetto black people would go around jumping people in groups or verbally abusing them from a distance. Screaming all the time. Black Women and men, young and old, drugged and sober, they attack other people. I’m not talking about my black friends or classmates. Im talking about the black people the average African American doesnt want to be. It was terrifying alll the time being in public where I grew up, clenching our stomachs, bracing for the panic and rage coming at us out of nowhere. Being stared at and analyzed by black girls who hated me for my straight thick black hair and being skinny with big breasts, they elbowed me in my breasts during basketball games. Being scared to ride our bikes or skateboard (before lupe) or rollerblading without being attacked for our shi. Black people would go out of their way to help other black people and their favorite white people, but shunning anyone who doesn’t fawn over them or look black. It was confusing cuz we, my family and friends, all grew up watching shows starring black kids and families, listening to r&b, disco, and pop rap at home; black guys were always trying to be smooove and cool trying to sweet talk me: it was like a relief—feeling constantly scared and then being consoled by the same ghetto people—that’s an emotional abuse rollercoaster. On top of that you have so much empathy for what black people went through during slavery and after that I felt compassion and I still do. But it doesn’t justify black people attacking other people. especially cuz so many people are traumatized too from colonization and slavery and genocide and it’s not ok when they hurt people neither. Seeing black kids walk around playing with knives threateningly in the cafeteria, and pretending they carry a gun to scare anyone. It was horrifying and confusing. Psychologically bad and physically threatening all the time, just to walk around and live. Still can’t talk about this stuff in public because it’s considered racist, which is narrow minded. I know a lot of people in neighborhood were terrorized and abused like that, living in fear that they became ghetto just to not get picked on anymore by black people but I see them now and they’re all beat up, emotionally and mentally deranged, quick to snap, can’t keep a relationship, some went to prison, they’re all slow and dull now or loud and obnoxiously showy to cover up their abused history. Like they’re locked in a mental cage now.
I don’t want to live in fear for being proud of myself and who I am . I don’t want to have to act all tough or shrink in fear just to walk to the store down the block or in the grocery store. When I’m scared that some creepy looking person, in this case I’m talking about black people is staring at me or is saying something to me like they’re ready to launch at me it’s obviously for a legitimate primal instinct and visible reason, and it makes me think fearful, scared, and angry thoughts cuz I’m a fighter when I have to defend myself—so I’m thinking get the Fuck away from me and what the fuck are you looking at and sometimes I even say that to them which makes them madder cuz it’s like they can sense my fear and makes them feel justified in starting an attack. Or having a black little boy try to touch my ass with no respect or regard for me as a person or say he wants to slap me in the face for just walking by and minding my business. It’s not okay that black men go around slamming their palms onto womens chests and stealing their gold chains, walking away laughing because they think they can get away with it and nothing will happen to them. I don’t want to be in situations like this anymore where I’m forced to be scared. The fact that some bp from the hood think other people deserve to get hit and attacked is a problem.

Plank All Over Me - Spill Your Guts Or Fill Your Guts Edition
Pairing: Tom Holland x Reader
Masterlist
Plank All Over Me Masterlist
Tumblr media
“Welcome back to Spill Your Guts Or Fill Your Guts.” James Cordan said to the camera. “I’m here with Tom and Y/n Holland.”
“Oh my God.” Tom looked at you with wide eyes as you both thought the same thing.
“He introduced us.” You realized. “We can’t do our bit.”
“You’re my wife now, darling. You get to do anything you want.” Tom stated at he looked at James. “James, we’re actually Dave and James Franco.”
“Who’s who?” James humored you, well aware of the way you and Tom acted in interviews.
“I’m clearly the James.” You mumbled as you smoothed your dress.
“Dave is more attractive.” Tom shrugged sassily and you made a face at him.
“Can we start the game?” James playfully interrupted and you and Tom sat up straight.
“Yes, sorry.” You nodded as James began to explain the rules of the game. You’d seen the bit enough times to know how to play, so you tuned James out a little. You didn’t mean to, you just had a lot on your mind lately. There was something you needed to tell Tom and you hadn’t found the right way to do it yet.
“The first question is for Y/n and since I love her so much I’m going to give her the hot sauce.” James smiled wickedly as he got the hot sauce in front of you.
“Mmm.” You said sarcastically and grimaced at the camera.
“Who got the drunkest at your wedding?” James read off the card before looking at you. You pursed your lips as you thought about the answer before chuckling.
“Probably Tom.” You laughed as you pointed at your husband who was sat across the table from you. His face lit up with laughter as he folded his arms.
“Yeah, I was gonna say. Ryan Reynolds and I had a drinking competition that I definitely won.” He said smugly, making the audience cheer.
“I never imagined I’d be standing by Blake Lively’s side on my wedding day, screaming “CHUG” at my husband, but I’m glad it happened. You made me proud.” You said to Tom with a fond pout on your face.
“Aw.” Tom held his hand over his heart as you stared at each other lovingly.
“Gross.” James deadpanned, making the two of you laugh.
“Next question is for Tom and I am going to give you the cockroaches.” You said as you spun the table. “Love you, honey.”
“It’s looking at me.” Tom gagged as he picked up a cockroach and quickly dropped it back in the little glass bowl.
“How dare that slutty, dead cockroach stare at you.” You joked. “Tell it you’re married.”
“I swear, you two are the strangest couple I had ever sat with.” James shook his head as he laughed.
“We get that a lot.” You and Tom said in unison.
“Okay, Tom, who is the most unprofessional Avenger on set?” You read off your card before setting it back on the table.
“Ooo. That’s a tough one since they’re all so badly behaved.” Tom clicked his tongue and the audience laughed gleefully.
“No, I’m joking.” He smiled at the reaction. “I’m gonna go with Evans because he’s pretty much a ten year old. Like, he carries around one of those tiny skateboards - what are they called?”
“Tech Decks.” You told him.
“Yeah. He carried around a Tech Deck and runs it over everyone’s arms when we’re blocking scenes.” Tom explained as he did the motion of the mini skateboard on the table.
“I have also seen him covered in Cheeto dust countless times.” You added. “He will straight up come to set with orange fingers. He is the opposite of Captain America.”
“I hate that. We call them Wotsitz in England and it makes me cringe.” Tom shuddered as he moved the table. “James, I’m gonna give you the bird saliva.”
“It looks warm.” James commented as he picked it up to examine it. “That’s so unsettling.”
“Ick.” Tom grimaced and picked up a card. “James, which guest would you not invite back to the show?”
The audience reacted accordingly and you raised your eyebrows at the host.
“I can’t answer that.” James held his hand over his mouth as he stared at the bird saliva in front of him.
“Then why do you get asked that in every installment of Spill Your Guts Or Fill Your Guts?” You asked bluntly, making the audience laugh.
“That’s an excellent question and I’m going to think about it while I drink this bird saliva.” James looked you right in the eyes as he took a sip from the small glass. You cringed when he swallowed it and immediately went to take a sip of water.
“Ew. Is it thick?” You wondered as he coughed into his elbow.
“You don’t want to know.” James said hoarsely, shaking his head.
“Do I go now?” Tom asked, already forgetting the order of turns.
“Yes, you pick for Y/n.” James told him as he wiped his mouth.
“Okay.” Tom smiled deviantly and spun the table. “I’m gonna give you the turkey testicles because I know how much you love-“
“Tom.” You cut him off with a stern look.
“Turkey burgers.” He finished his sentence. “She loves turkey burgers.”
You squinted your eyes at him as he laughed devilishly.
“I’m about to walk out.” You threatened him once your fate was put in front of you.
“It’s not a true interview with us unless one of us threatens to leave.” Tom noted as he picked up his card. “Who do you think is the smallest Avenger?”
“Oh, definitely Mackie.” You answered confidently, relieved you didn’t have to eat the “food” in front of you.
“But he’s taller than me.” Tom tilted his head in confusion and your eyes widened.
“Oh you meant height?” You asked, fully misunderstanding the original question. The audience erupted into laughter and you felt your cheeks heat up with embarrassment.
“WHAT?” James asked as he wiped tears from his eyes.
“I thought you were asking about something else.” You said sheepishly as you shrunk in your seat.
“This is CBS.” He reminded you and you have an apologetic grin.
“Next question.” You requested, wanted to move on from your lapse in judgment.
“This ones for Tom and I’m giving you the salmon smoothie.” James decided. “Tom, how much did you get paid for Spiderman: Far From Home?”
“Enough to put a 20 karat ring on Y/n’s finger.” Tom response was immediate and you lit up in delight. You held your hand up to your ear so the camera could see it.
“With matching earrings.” You said coyly before letting out a laugh, all while Tom watched you with a childlike grin.
“My turn. I’m gonna give you the tarantula. James.” You decided and picked up a card. “Who was your least favorite guest on Carpool Karaoke?”
You held the card to your chest as you looked at him expectantly, knowing he’d never answer it.
“I can’t answer that.” He shook his head. “I have an answer but I can’t say it.”
“When you met Lin Manuel Miranda, did he bite his lip?” The words left your mouth before you could stop them. Tom burst out laughing at you, knowing exactly what you were talking about.
“Oh my God. She’s obsessed with that one picture of the guy.” Tom explained.
“It’s so funny. EUHYYYHY WE WERE MARRIED THAT NIGHT.” You imitated the countless singing videos of Lin Manuel Miranda you’d seen on Tik Tok that left you in tears of laughter every night.
“I hear this everyday.” Tom told James as you laughed at yourself.
“I can’t. I can’t. Sorry Lin.” You giggled again before calming down.
“Lin was perfectly lovely and we would love to have him back.” James brought the conversation back to the question. “I have an answer but I just can’t say who it was.”
“Then you better put that spider in your mouth.” Tom nodded towards the spider.
“It’s easy. I do it all the time. Wink wink.” You gave the camera an over exaggerated wink.
“Oh My God. Every time.” Tom scolded you as you made yet another innuendo.
“It smells horrible.” James whined as he leaned down to sniff the tarantula.
“Well it’s a dead bug. Were you expecting Japanese Cherry Blossom?” You sassed him.
“Oh God. Here we go.” James plugged his nose and took a tiny bite of the spiders leg.
“How is it?” Tom wondered as he watched in disgust. “Is it crunchy?”
“It’s gooey.” James told him before wiping his face with his napkin.
“I could’ve told you that.” You shrugged, causing Tom to give you a stern look that told you to behave.
“Stop it.” He couldn’t contain his laughter. “Who’s turn is it?”
“It’s my turn to ask Y/n.” James said as he looked around the table for what hadn’t been used yet.
“Fire away.” You said casually despite the butterflies in your tummy over what he could possible ask you.
“Okay Y/n, I’m gonna give you the grasshoppers.” You bit your tongue between your teeth as James moved the table towards you.
“Delicious.” You grimaced as you poked around in the bowl of grasshoppers.
“Y/n, if you had to date one of Tom’s brothers to save his life, which would you pick?” James read off the card and the audience murmured with anticipation.
“How would I get into that situation?” You stalled your answer, knowing you’d have to pick between hurting Toms feelings or eating a bug.
“And how do I prevent her from getting into that situation?” Tom added, making you laugh. He was trying to keep his cool but you knew the question bothered him.
“You have to answer the question or get to eating. Come on now, before they hop away.” James joked, making the audience laugh. You stared into the bowl of grasshoppers and knew there was no way you could put it on your mouth without throwing up. You gulped and looked at your husband, giving him an apologetic pout before looking at James.
“I guess Sam.” You said weakly and quickly moved the grasshoppers away from you.
“Why Sam?” James asked, always trying to get the best response he could.
“That’s not the question.” You quipped as you taped the card with your fingernail.
“I want to know too.” Tom spoke up, making your stomach drop. You shrugged and folded your arms to look relaxed.
“He was the first one that came to mind and I don’t think you’d want me to sit here and go over the pro’s and con’s of dating all your brothers. Plus, he’s a great chef.” You answered, and to your surprise, Tom smiled.
“That’s true.” He nodded. “Good job, baby.”
“Thank you.” You blew him a playful kiss which he caught and then pretended to throw away to get a laugh. You shot him a look before returning your attention to the table.
“Stop it.” You warned. “Who’s turn is it?”
“It’s your turn, Mrs. Holland.” Tom said, always taking the opportunity to call you that.
“Okay. I’m gonna give you the bulls penis.” You said lovingly as you moved the table.
“You’re too kind, my love.” He teased as it landed in front of him.
“I know. It’s my gift since you always give me the-“
“Don’t you dare finish that sentence.” Tom cut you off. “I don’t even want to know how it ends.”
“Fine. I won’t.” You gave the audience a pointed look and they laughed at your antics. You picked up your card and read the question, immediately laughing at what it asked. You were about to read the question when an idea popped into your head. Tom noticed the way your expression changed and sensed something was up.
“Oh no. I’m scared already.” He smiled nervously as you looked at the card again. Finally, you looked Tom in the eye and gave him a soft smile.
“Are you excited to be a father?” You asked the question that had been weighing on your mind ever since you took a pregnancy test in an airport bathroom two days ago. You wanted to break the news in a memorable way, and constantly being on planes or in cars made that difficult.
This show, however, made it easy.
Toms face melted from a playful smile to wide eyes at your question. The audience quieted down as everyone waited for Tom’s response.
“What?” He asked slowly, studying your face closely to see if you were joking.
“That’s what it says.” You put it simply, makes Toms face shift into a smile. James took the card fork where you had set it down, knowing damn well his writers hadn’t put that as a question, and read it.
“This card says “how big is it?”” James read off the card as he looked at you, making you chuckle slightly.
“I took a creative liberty.” You shrugged. Tom and James looked at each other, both thinking the other was up to something.
“Are you pregnant?” Tom leaned closer to you from across the table to ask.
“You don’t get to ask a question until you’ve chosen what food I have to eat.” You reminded him as you gestured to the table.
“Not to make this about me, but It’s also not your turn.” James threw in a joke as he watched the drama unfold.
“Cow tongue.” Tom said quickly and shifted the table so the cow tongue was in front of you. He looked up at you with all the hope in the world as you gagged at the tongue. “There. Are you really pregnant?”
“Oof.” You blew out a breath. “That’s a toughy.”
“That’s a toughy?” Tom asked in exasperation. You could see his leg bouncing under the table from anticipation but you wanted to drag it out just a little longer.
“Yeah. I mean, I really want to tell you, but this cow tongue also looks really good.” You teased him, making him let out a whine.
“She’s got a point, there.” James nodded, squeezing your hand under the table to congratulate you.
“No she doesn’t!” Tom exclaimed. “Baby? Are you actually pregnant?”
You knew Tom couldn’t take the suspense anymore and broke into a grin.
“Yes.” You told him. “I’m pregnant. We’re pregnant.”
“Really? We’re gonna have a baby?” Toms eyes welled with tears as he covered his mouth with both his hands. He’d been wanting to start a family for a while now but you hadn’t had any luck in conceiving.
Until now.
“Yeah, honey. We’re gonna have a baby.” You reached across the table and rubbed his hand with your thumb before pointing finger guns at the camera. “Keep watching to find out who the father is!”
The audience, who had been busy cheering at your news, switched to laughter.
“She’s kidding. It’s me.” Tom assured the audience.
“He’s kidding.” You insisted. “It’s Benedict!”
“Congratulations to the both of you.” James said sincerely. “I think that just about wraps this up this segment. My producer is going to be very happy with me for getting that information out of you without even asking.”
“You’re welcome.” You smiled at him as he leaned in to press a congratulatory kiss on your cheek. Tom finally broke out of his shocked state and got out of his chair, rushing to you and practically pulling you out of your seat to hug you. His hug was firm but gentle all at the same time, especially around your tummy. He pressed your face into his neck and you heard him sniffle, making you take his hand and put it on your tummy.
“We have about three minutes of commercial break. Excellent job guys.” James said as he got out of his seat. “That was definitely the best Spill Your Guts we’ve ever done. I might have to hire Y/n as a writer here.” He joked.
“Thanks for having us James. All three of us.” You said as you pulled away from Tom. Tom kept a protective hand on your tummy as you rubbed circles on his back.
“I can’t believe you’re pregnant. I’m so happy for you both. That’s beautiful.” James shook Toms hand to congratulate him as well.
“Well when you plank all over someone and don’t use a-
“That’s enough.” Tom cut you off but kept his smile on. “That’s enough for today.”
You leaned into him and took his hand, kissing the back of it as you all walked back towards the main stage.
“Can you believe we met planking on each other for a video and now we’re having a baby?” You asked him.
“I know.” He shook his head in pleasant shock. “We should name our baby BBC, since we met at BBC radio 1.
“You suggesting that tells me you don’t know the other meaning of BBC.” You laughed as you took a seat on James’s couch.
“What’s the other meaning?” Tom looked at you in confusion. You laughed gleefully and patted Toms cheek, always delighted by his innocence.
“Oh, Tom.” You sighed. “I’ll let you google that one.”

Daydreams and Tickles ~ Ruby Martinez
Summary: You get distracted while Ruby rambles.
Word count: 3.3k
Pairing: Ruby Martinez x Fem!Latina!Reader
Warnings: Tickling, Kissing, Suggestive dialogue (Innuendos, dirty jokes, etc) If we missed something let us know!
A/N: Hiya, it’s been a while, we are going to try to post at least a monthly one shot, but won’t make any promises. Hope you all that read this enjoy this!
Tumblr media
You were awoken by the sound of notifications going off loudly. You stirred around on your bed, trying to ignore the cacophony of dings your phone kept emitting. Groggily, you made a mental note to silence your phone from now on. When you could finally look at the screen without it blinding you, you scrolled through the seemingly endless string of texts Ruby had sent to the group chat, “The Gnomies”. Yes, Jamal came up with it. Yes, everyone tried to change it, but he just kept changing it back so they gave up. You groaned as you read the messages. ‘Be here at one on the dot,’ the last message read, ‘mandatory meeting’. That was less than half an hour from now. Lazily getting out of bed, you started getting ready. After brushing your teeth and making your hair look somewhat presentable, you threw together an outfit that resembled a picture you had seen on Pinterest after looking up ‘grunge aesthetic’. You liked trying out different styles constantly, feeling like every single one of them suited you, but none of them could get you to commit to them for more than a month. Satisfied with the way you looked, you left your room, grabbed your keys and skateboard, and started to skate your way to Ruby’s house. Midway, though, you decided to take a detour and get some food—junk food, to be precise—knowing that you would not be able to handle a hyperactive Ruben on an empty stomach.
You left the joint with two bags full of food, hoping bribery would get you out of being lectured by Ruby about punctuality. You balanced the bags on both hands like a scale as you focused on not falling from your board on the way there. Making the last turn to Ruby’s house, you miscalculated the speed you were going at and had to hop off the board, letting it crash against the curb. Though you fell on your ass, you made sure to hold the food up keeping it safe and sound. Holding both bags in one hand, you retrieved your skateboard and walked up to the door, but it flung open before you could even think about knocking. Ruby stood on the other side with a scowl. You smiled sheepishly, extending one of the bags to him.
“You’re very late! Did you get me fries with that? Also where are the others?!" Ruby said all in one breath.
"First of all, I know I'm late, but I'm sorry to inform you that you are not more important than food.” Ruby scowled and was about to protest, but you kept speaking before he could utter a word. “Secondly, yes, I did get you fries, you impatient goblin. I mean, what do you take me for? A monster?” You pretended to be offended, but Ruby simply looked annoyed by the dramatic display. “Just know that when I win my first Oscar I will not be thanking you, Ruben.”
“Yeah, yeah if you say so—also don’t call me that. Can you get to the most important question now?”
“Damn, someone hasn’t had their daily handy.” You laughed in astonishment, amused by how much irritation Ruby had in him.
“Seriously, Y/N, this is serious!” His voice raised an octave, causing it to crack, and you had to bite back a laugh.
“A la jaula, bestia, a la jaula,” you began, laughter causing your words to come out like wheezes. Ruby spared you one death stare, and you somehow found your composure. “Look, I have no idea where everyone else is. I, honestly, thought everyone was already here and that you were waiting on me.”
“So, you thought they were here and didn’t think to bring them food?” Ruby questioned.
“Do I look like I have enough money to feed todos esos trogloditas? I brought you food with hopes of getting out of the ‘Punctuality Lecture’, but seeing as they aren’t here, guess that spares me.” You dropped the skate on the entryway, pushing past Ruby to sit on the couch.
“And here I was beginning to think you favored me from the rest.” Ruby sighed with disappointment before raising his voice dramatically. “When in reality, it was just BRIBERY!” he exclaimed, his voice cracking once more as he fake sobbed while clutching the food. You clapped as you opened your food, ready to dig in.
“Damn, man, I better watch out, otherwise you’re probably going to win that Oscar before me,” you said as you began stuffing your face.
“Are you calling me dramatic?” He placed his free hand over his heart.
“Oh, without a shadow of a doubt, now sit down and eat.” With your fork, you pointed at him then towards the couch. Instead of sitting, he started pacing around the coffee table, and you watched him as you munched on your sandwich and fries. He stopped for a second to place his bag of food down, yet he didn’t sit down to eat it. He kept going around the small table at a pace too quick for your eyes to keep up without feeling dizzy. “Wow, man, slow down. Me mareas con tus vueltitas.” He only huffed. “Ruben, seriously, I did not buy that for you to let it go to waste. At least breathe and stress eat.” He whipped around at the mention of his full name.
“I thought I told you not to call me that,” he reminded you exasperatedly. “Anyway, I can’t eat right now. I have many thoughts whirring in my brain, and it’s making me sick. Do you know why I called you guys here? Well, if you’re here, you must have read the messages—” Ruby was rambling on and didn’t even stop in between sentences to take a breath so you cut him off.
“RUBEN!” He ceased all movement so abruptly that a skid mark could’ve possibly been seen in the spot where he stopped. “Could you get to the point,, please? You’re making my head hurt.” You completely ignored his previous statement and pressed the tips of your fingers to your temples. Rolling his eyes at you he sat on the other end of the couch and took his food out. After a few angry munches, he turned to face you, the grease of the food that was plastered on his mouth drawing your attention to his lips.
“Alright, since the others aren’t here yet, I’ll just start telling you my new ideas for income.” He stopped eating and started chattering and chattering and chattering…
You don’t know when it happened, but at some point, he stood up and began pacing around the living room again. You stopped listening about half an hour into his ramble, zoning out and staring blankly at him. Your mind got the best of you, and you started to remember why you liked Ruby. What brought this on? You didn’t know. Maybe it was how much passion he put into his pointless arguments, or maybe even that you found it totally adorable that he was practically unable to lie because he would start sweating like a pig on a stick. Maybe it was the way he smiled at you, the tendency he had to correct everything you said matter-of-factly, or maybe it was his dangerously absurd perfectionism. It could be one of his many qualities, good or bad, you didn’t care. Your eyes trailed to his lips once more. They were so full and pink it was hard not to stare—slightly chapped too, but that wasn’t a problem to you. You imagined running your thumb over them, pulling them close to yours and then just crashing them together. Your breath hitched in your throat at the thought of you and Ruby making out. It wasn’t an uncommon thought of yours, seeing as you’ve been dreaming about it happening almost every night since you discovered what hormones could do.
There was always Cesar, you thought. He was the “face” of the group after all, but that got to his brain sometimes. Nothing more dangerous than a cholo who’s aware of his good looks. You grimaced slightly. Cesar’s ego was one of the many reasons why you never developed an emotional nor carnal liking to the boy. You’d rather leave him to Monse, plus you wouldn’t dream of getting caught in the middle of their toxic and manipulative games. But that’s beside the point. You were abruptly brought back to reality by Ruby waving his hands in front of your face, occasionally snapping his fingers. Shaking your head to shake out the thoughts, you noticed Ruby was now standing on top of the coffee table, being careful not to step on either of your foods.
“PAY ATTENTION TO ME, (Y/N)!” Ruby whined. You held back a chuckle at how funny he looked. His small body barely added to the coffee table’s weight. Deciding to play it cool, you shrugged nonchalantly.
“What’s your fuzz? I am listening to you. Have been for the past hour and a half.”
Ruby squinted his eyes at you. “No, you weren’t. I know that face. You were very deep in your thoughts. What’s going on in that pretty, little head of yours?” You freaked internally.
He’s onto us, you told yourself. “Yes, I am onto you, (Y/N), that’s why I asked. Keep up.” He looked at you like you were stupid. Wait how did he—Can he read my mind?  Blink twice if you can read my mind. Ruby blinked twice, and you felt like a rock dropped in your stomach.
“Oh shit,” you whispered under your breath.
“Before you throw up on my couch, I’ll have you know I can’t read your mind. You were just speaking out loud.” You threw yourself backwards unto the couch, grabbing a pillow to cover your face. After making a mental note to slam your head against the nearest wall later, you decided you were not going to make a further fool of yourself.
“I wasn’t not paying attention; I was just—”
“I am the king of bad excuses, babe, so spare me your lies.” You blushed at the nickname and prayed he wouldn’t notice. “Now since there is obviously something more important on your mind, speak,” he demanded.
You weighed your options. You could either try to lie and hope he’d let you off the hook, which was not likely, or you could tell him the truth and risk your friendship being awkward from now on if he didn’t feel the same way—and with your luck he most likely didn’t. A few more silent seconds passed before Ruby spoke once more, “Don’t make me take drastic measures on you, (Y/N). I will have no mercy.” He eyed you with determination. You scoffed in disbelief.
“What could you possibly do to torture me, Ruben?” You mocked him, stretching out his name. Ruby smirked.
“Oh, you’ve done it now.” He jumped from the coffee table, landing on top of you and successfully pinning you to the sofa. You giggled and tried to get away from his grip, but it was surprisingly strong. Ruby chuckled at your failed attempts to break free. “Now, you’re going to tell me what I want to know, or else,” he brought his lips close to your ears, “you’ll pay for it with your melodious laughter.” Your eyes widened in realization as his words sank in.
“No, not the tickles,” you begged him playfully. He nodded while mischievously smirking.
“One last chance, are you gonna talk?” You shook your head.
“In your dreams,” you defied.
“I was hoping you’d say that.” In seconds, his hands went to your sides and laughter erupted from your throat in loud cackles.
“Stop, Ruby—Stop!” you tried to articulate between laughs. He shook his head no.
“Not until I get what I want.” He said between laughs as well, since in retaliation, you had managed to start tickling him as well. The sound of his own laughter mixed with yours was like music to your ears.
“N—Never!” You still mutinied. His fingers only increased their pace and not in ways you’d like. Your stomach was starting to hurt and you were running out of breath, leaving you with just one option. Well, it was now or never.
“I WAS THINKING ABOUT KISSING YOU,” you blurted; his movements ceased, “I have been since we were in middle school.” You closed your eyes, concentrating on catching your breath. Ruby released you and got off of you, running his hands through his hair in deep thought. You sat up and covered your face with your hands. “This is going to be so awkward now,” you muttered through your hands but it came out like an incoherent jumble of sounds. You moved your hands to sneak a peek at Ruby. Your muffled words didn’t even faze him.
“Ruby?” You looked over at him. His eyes met yours, and he struggled to bite back a laugh. Great, you thought, he thinks I’m a joke now.
“About time.” He grumbled and sighed.
“What?” You were very confused. What could he possibly mean by that?
“I said ‘about damn time,’ (Y/N).” His suppressed laughs turned to a shy grin. Still confused as ever, you tried your best to gather your thoughts and form a coherent sentence.
“Wait, YOU KNEW?” You felt sick to your stomach now. All this time, you thought you had been successful at keeping your feelings hidden and sealed away, but now it turns out even he knew.
“Well, yeah, I’ve known for a couple of months now.” He shrugged it off as if it were obvious.
“Months?!” This was unbelievable. You abruptly stood up and faced him, hands on your hips. “So, you’ve known for months and you didn’t think for one second to tell me? At least, have the decency to confront me, damn it.” You found yourself feeling dumbfounded, feeling toyed with. Ruby reached out to you, holding on to your forearm and pulling you back to sit on the couch. You let him.
“Cesar and Jamal implied it once during one of our guy’s nights, and ever since then, I kind of started paying more attention. Ergo, leading me to the conclusion that you liked me,” he explained. “If it makes you feel any better, the clues to your feelings were very subtle so, I would have probably never noticed if it hadn’t been brought up.” Ruby was trying his best to cheer you up, but you still felt extremely embarrassed by the fact that your secret crush wasn’t so secret.
“Why would they even bring that up, in the first place?” you questioned, annoyed.
“Well, I may or may not have made a comment about how I thought I was starting to develop feelings for you and the guys just jumped on that and told me that you liked me too,” Ruby admitted shyly, rubbing his neck awkwardly.
“So, if you like me back, then why didn’t you say anything or make a move when you figured out I actually felt the same way?” You felt bad for interrogating him like that, but you were in dire need of answers.
“I just didn’t know how to bring it up, and even if I did, I wouldn’t have known how to say I liked you back without, probably, choking on my own saliva.” He chuckled lowly, afraid that if he laughed too loud, he’d set you off again. “You know I’ve never been good with the ladies, (Y/N).” You grimaced at the memory of all of Ruby’s failed love attempts.
“Well, you already knew I liked you—it was a matter of saying three words, eight letters,, and I would’ve been yours months ago.” You pushed his shoulder playfully, the anxiety and embarrassment you had felt washing of and making room for the still-settling realization of having confessed your feelings. Ruby leaned back into you, your legs brushing, causing you to take notice of your proximity. Your hands fell upon each other’s, and you looked up to meet his eyes. You started leaning in, maintaining eye contact as you got closer.
“Ruby,” you started, but he shook his head.
“Don’t think, act,” he said as he grabbed the back of your neck, crashing your lips together. All your late night fantasies crashed at once, the real thing surpassing each and every one of them. Kissing Ruby felt like a kaleidoscope of butterflies got loose in your stomach—it felt like your heart alone was running a marathon. Kissing Ruby was soft and messy, your lack of experience shining through-. Ruby kept pressing himself to you, making sure there was absolutely no space between you. You had to resort to lying down, pulling Ruby on top of you, not once breaking the kiss. Due to the new position, one of his hands made its way to rest on your waist and the other cupped your cheek. Your hands around his neck were pulling him impossibly closer, and in that moment, your body felt like it was exploding with fireworks, warm all over. You didn’t break away until you needed to  breathe, a goofy smile plastering itself on your face. Ruby held the same expression as you as he looked down at you. As you started leaning in for another kiss, the door burst open. You pushed Ruby off of you, causing Ruby to fall on the ground with a thud.
“Uh, what’s going on here?” Jamal asked.
“Told you guys it would work.” Cesar had the biggest, cockiest smirk on his face. You and Ruby shared a confused look and stared back at the very late rest of the crew.
“Yep, just like you said. A couple of hours alone, and they were all over each other.” Monse said, trying her best to refrain from laughing.
“I think our little man, Ruby, just popped his cherry.” Cesar wiggled his eyebrows. Monse’s eyes widened and she broke down laughing.
Irritated enough, you finally spoke up, “Slow your roll, Little Spooky, we’re not like you and Monse.” You shot at him defensively, and Monse choked on her laughter. “No offense,” you added, not wanting to stir up any drama.
“None taken,” Cesar assured. Ruby got off the ground and reclaimed his seat beside you.
Leaning over, he whispered, “Why can’t we be like them?”
“Keep it in your damn pants, Ruben.” You nudged his side and he raised his hands in surrender.
In retaliation, though, Cesar sat between you and Ruby. You shared a look of annoyance before Cesar asked, “Are you going to finish that?” referring to the forgotten leftover cluttering the small table.
“Go crazy.”
“Suit yourself,” you and Ruby at the same time.
As Cesar dug in Jamal spoke up, “Can we just skip to the part where Ruby yells at us for being late and starts talking non-stop?”
“No, man, not today.” Everyone looked bewildered. “Cesar why don’t you take that home? Yes, okay, bye,” Ruby dismissed him.
“Wait, woah, the hell man?” Cesar questioned as Ruby used all his might to get him off the couch.
“You can all come back tomorrow, on time, and we’ll talk about my idea.” He said shooing them all away.
“Are you freaking serious?” Monse got angry quickly.
“Hey, not my fault you decided to play cupid and be late on purpose.” Cesar, Jamal, and Monse shared looks of pride at Ruby’s statement. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some wasted time to make up for with my new girlfriend so, bye!”
“Whatever you say, man,” Cesar said as he opened the door with one hand, the leftovers in the other. When Jamal and Monse were outside he said, “Just remember sin gorrito no hay fiesta.” He immediately shut the door after himself, but that didn’t stop Ruby and you from yelling after him.
“Fuck off, Cesar!” You both yelled with smiles on your faces as you looked at each other. With everyone else gone, Ruby cupped your cheek once more and tenderly kissed you until you had to head back home. That night you slept peacefully, no longer having to dream and wonder about how kissing Ruby would feel like.

Friends Forever
Or: How Sapnap met and lost his family.
@the-gay-is-back
The first time Sapnap saw Dream, he was 5.
He was sitting under one of the tables at his dad’s cafe with a coloring book, coloring in a little panda, humming to himself, when there was a kid crouching in front of him.
They froze, staring at each other, sizing each other up for a bit.
The kid had long blond hair, and freckles scattered across their face and arms. They wore a massive green t-shirt and a pair of cargo shorts, and a pair of flip flops. They looked a couple years older than Sapnap, but probably weighed half as much as he did.
They tilted their head, narrowing their eyes, but then Sapnap’s dad called for him, and they bolted, leaving him blinking in confusion.
They came back nearly every day after that, just to sit there and watch Sapnap draw. At one point, Sapnap asked his dad where he thought the kid lived, and he looked sad as he explained he probably didn’t have a home, he probably lived on the streets.
Sapnap frowned at that. He couldn’t imagine not having a home, not having a family.
The next time the kid came by and sat in the corner, Sapnap stood up and walked over to him, watching him tense up and eye the door.
“Hi,” He said, simply. “What’s your name?”
“...Dream.”
He smiled happily, introduced himself, and sat down across from him, peacefully going back to drawing.
A couple weeks later, Dream stopped showing up.
Sapnap was terrified that he’d gotten hurt, or worse, but after a week and a half of the corner being empty, suddenly, he was back.
He looked different from the second he burst through the door. His face was clean, and Sapnap could admire the freckles scattered across his cheekbones easier. His hair was still long, but now it was even, and brushed. When Sapnap hugged him, he smelled like rose shampoo.
“I got a dad,” He beamed. “I got a dad, and a brother! I have a family!”
He met his family the next day when he dragged them through the door with a smile and happily introduced them to Sapnap.
His dad was a short man with curly hair, half white half brown. She smiled sweetly at Sapnap, and gave him a warm hug that smelled like the ocean breeze. Dream’s new brother was made of gold, and tall, almost as tall as Sapnap’s dad, who had come out from the back to say hello.
When Sapnap was 7 and Dream was 9, Dream explained nonbinary to Sapnap, and said they used all pronouns, not just he.
Sapnap shrugged, said that was cool or whatever.
A week later, he nervously asked Dream if he could be a boy, if he felt like it.
Dream nodded, and Sapnap grinned, and that night, he told his dad, who hugged him and said he was proud of him.
For a while, it was just the two of them, until Dream met George.
George was smart, and funny, and snarky. He and Sapnap got along wonderfully.
One day, as they sat together, in the playground, watching their dads talk, George pointed out he was the oldest.
“That makes me the leader, doesn’t it?”
“No,” Sapnap scoffed. “I’m the biggest. I’m the leader.”
“No,” George bit back, crossing his skinny arms over his chest. “I’m the oldest, the smartest.”
“You’re not smart.”
“Oh come on, guys,” Dream chuckled, shaking her head. “Why do we need a leader?”
The other two looked at each other for a moment, before nodding. And just like that, Dream was the leader.
George had a little brother, a shapeshifter called Alex. Sapnap didn’t meet him for the first month or so of knowing George, he was always out with their dad when Sapnap came over.
Then, one day, when Sapnap was 9, Dream was 11 and George was 12, they sat on George’s bed, watching a bad horror movie on Dream’s laptop- or rather, George and Dream watched the movie as Sapnap hid his face in George’s shoulder.
There was a knock on the door, and George sighed. “Come in.”
Alex poked his head in. He was Sapnap’s age, with fluffy black hair with little golden feathers sticking out every here and there. His shiny dark eyes flickered over all of them, before he grinned brightly, revealing a missing tooth. “Dad says I have to hang out with you guys.”
George whined, and groaned, but Sapnap was more than happy to hang out with the smaller boy, he was funny and he fit in Sapnap’s lap perfectly.
He started hanging out with them more after that, trailing behind them on their trips to the gas station to grab sodas and laughing when Dream failed on skateboarding tricks.
At one point, Alex started calling himself Quackity, and Sapnap made a joke about it, but he just flipped him off and grinned. “You’re just jealous cause it’s such a cooler name than Sapnap.”
The four were impossible to pry apart.
And then, only three years later, the fifth arrived.
He was small, with fluffy brown hair, and pale skin. His eyes were green (years later, Sapnap would discover they actually weren’t, they were mostly blue, but there were chunks of green and brown, although early in the morning, when he was only half awake, they were a brilliant sapphire color with streaks of orange) and his hands were anxious, twisting in his plain white hoodie.
“Hi,” Dream said, simply, hopping off her swing easily, sending woodchips flying. “I’m Dream.”
The boy nodded back, but didn’t speak as they introduced themselves. After a moment, he pointed at the empty swing next to George.
He started following them around, always a few feet behind, always watching silently. He never spoke, and they never made him.
Until one day, when George paused, sending him a weird look and asked, calmly. “How do you spell your name, again? Is it a K or a C?”
He blinked.
“Okay, cool,” The older boy nodded, satisfied. “I don’t know many Karls with a K.”
Later, they asked George how he knew what his name was, and he just shrugged. Karl didn’t care about them finding out his name, apparently, it was never a secret, he just didn’t talk.
“Can you speak?” Quackity asked one night, after dinner, when they all sat in a circle in Sapnap’s livingroom.
Karl nodded.
“You just don’t want to?”
He nodded again.
“Why?” George asked, crossing his arms over his chest.
He shrugged.
“Is it cause you don’t like us?” Sapnap asked.
At that, his eyes went wide and he desperately shook his head.
“You just don’t like to talk,” Dream said. “Like… I don’t like coffee, you don’t like to talk.”
Karl nodded again, relieved.
“Makes sense,” Quackity nodded sagely. “I don’t like George.”
The first time Karl spoke, Dream’s dad was ordering lunch.
“What kind of sub do you guys want?” She asked, opening the app on her phone and patiently waiting for their orders.
Karl was last, per usual, but instead of reaching for his dry erase board, he just… opened his mouth.
“Can I have a meatball sub, please?”
She froze, staring at him. “Uh… sure, kid. You want cheese on that?”
He shook his head, and went back to the game he was playing on Sapnap’s old gameboy.
Karl was odd, they realized.
He didn’t like talking, unless he was completely comfortable and felt safe. He hummed creepy old songs that sounded like they were from a horror movie, and he liked to drink monster energies, even though, at 15 years old, he really should not have an addiction.
He also liked to steal people’s clothes, cut them up, and sew them together into a Frankenstein hoodie.
Sapnap would happily “forget” to take his hoodies back from Karl, and happily watch him jog up to them the next day with a new patch on his shoulder the same color as the missing jacket.
They all slept over at George’s house on the weekends. His dad would carry an old mattress down from the attic, and all five of them would cram together, with Karl’s around Sapnap’s waist and George’s face in Dream’s spine and Quackity’s feet in all of their faces. It was warm, and it was safe.
One night, Sapnap asked them if they were going to stick together forever.
“Yeah, of course,” Dream whispered. “We’re not going anywhere.”
“Friends forever.” Quackity laughed.
“Yeah,” George hummed, already half asleep. “Forever…”
Karl just giggled, nudging Sapnap’s head with his own.
He shouldn’t have believed them.
Eight years shouldn’t have been enough time to ruin everything.
He was barely 19, still a kid in all honesty.
He sighed, rubbing his eyes, stirring the rice. It was getting cold, he realised faintly. He should eat now, but…
They’d said they were coming over. They said they were going to be here.
Dream couldn’t make it, of course. They were still in prison. He didn’t expect them to show up. He didn’t want them to show up. He still remembered Tommy’s funeral.
George was probably asleep. That was alright, he needed it, he’d been staying up too late again recently, just watching the stars.
But the other two…
Quackity had left earlier that morning, pulling on his eyepatch and hat, tying his tie and nodding goodbye to Sapnap at the door. Around noon, he’d stumbled back, covered in blood, his eyes full of anger and mirth. Sapnap had tried to talk to him, but he’d just shoved past him, grabbed a pickaxe and vanished out the door again.
Karl had been gone for a couple days now. The last Sapnap had seen of him, he’d been sitting on the dining room floor, sobbing as he ripped the faded lime green fabric from his hoodie. Sapnap had left him, let him be alone, and then he was gone.
Sapnap wasn’t hungry.
He stood, grabbing a tub from the cabinet and started to dump the fried rice in.
The front door opened.
He hesitated. “Babe?”
There was silence, then tentative footsteps.
Karl stood there, his hair almost grey, eyes almost lifeless. His hoodie damp, and Sapnap frowned at the lack of shoes on his feet.
“Are you okay? What happened? Are you cold?”
Karl didn’t speak, just staring at him, and he sighed, turning away.
“You missed dinner. I can heat this back up for you, but it’s not going to be as good-”
A pair of arms wrapped around his chest and he jumped, until he felt a familiar face press between his shoulder blades.
“Karl?”
Nothing.
He turned, wrapping his arms around his husband and sighing. “It’s going to be okay. I promise.”
He wasn’t sure what he was saying, or why it made Karl start to shake, but it felt right, and he repeated it. “It’s ok. You’re ok. We’re going to be alright.”
Quackity came home that night from tearing down his old home to find his husbands curled up in bed without him, and he sighed.
They probably hadn’t even noticed he left.
He turned to leave, to go to the couch, but a pale hand caught onto his and he froze, staring down at Karl.
“Hey.”
No response, just wide eyes.
“... want me to join ya?”
A nod.
They weren’t friends forever. Dream had made sure of that when he betrayed Sapnap at the Battle of the Lake, when he ripped George’s crown from his head, when he called Quackity a terrorist, when he killed a kid. They weren’t the same as they’d been back and they never would be.
But as Sapnap cuddled his boys to his chest, burying his face in Quackity’s hair, he thought that this wasn’t so bad.

You know what Shark? Both of these ideas are so good I’m going to do both.
The Jihyun headcanons will be posted separately, but enjoy some maybe a little too long Shaw fake dating AU.
Also, shoutout to my wonderful friend @stehkotori for her excellent Shaw wisdom and general encouragement during this whole process. I couldn’t have done it without her.

“Hey boss?” Kiki said, sticking her head into the office. You tore your eyes away from the computer and looked up towards the office door. “I got some bad news.”
Your brow furrowed as you lifted your fingers from your keyboard. “What’s going on?” Kiki walked in and closed the door behind her.
“You know how the special couple’s program is getting filmed next week?” You recalled the proposal for that program, a challenge-based game show for couples to “test” their relationship. You’d liked the program idea, but it had been a pain to get Victor to approve the proposal. You were already cringing remembering the sheer amount of late nights the proposal required.
“Yeah I remember.” You said. “Why? Is everything okay?”
The way Kiki was rubbing her hands together wasn’t giving you much confidence. “One of the couples dropped out.” She said.
You tried to keep your jaw from dropping. Speaking carefully for your own sake. . “Why? What happened?”
Kiki sighed. “I guess she caught him cheating. They broke up a few days ago.” You set your pen back on your desk to cover your eyes with your hands.
“And we only found out now?”
“She just called me ten minutes ago. I guess she was too upset to remember to call.” Kiki frowned.
You groaned. “This is bad.” You whispered to yourself. “This is really bad.” Staring at your desk you tried to think of a solution. You needed that particular number of couples for the show, it was purposeful so you could have a good balance of personalities and relationships. As well as the challenges being built around the numbers. Now it was thrown off.
“Maybe we could find someone last minute? We could do a small last minute casting call?” Kiki suggested. You shook your head.
“The show starts taping in three days there’s not enough time.” You said, you weren’t about to call off the show because one couple dropped out. You couldn’t do that to the crew, not to mention how angry Victor would be about the wasted time and resources. You needed a solution and you needed one quick.
The gears in your head were quickly turning, this wasn’t a great situation, but maybe you could fix it.
“Boss?”
“Okay.” You sat up straight in your chair, you weren’t very confident in your plan, but it’s all you could think of right now. “I’ll step in for the missing couple.”
Kiki’s eyes widened. “You? But you aren’t dating anyone and we need a couple.”
“I’ll find someone, we’ll pretend to be a couple or something. At this point it doesn’t really matter.” You explained. “Let everyone know about the change in plans, I’ll let you know who’s coming with me.” Kiki nodded.
“You’re a savior boss!” Kiki said, turning on her heel to head back to her desk. Once the door closed you sighed loudly to yourself. Alright, now you just needed to find someone to do this with you, that shouldn’t be too hard. Right?
Wrong.
“This sucks.” You whispered to yourself. Throwing yourself down on your bed after work you pressed your face into your bedspread. The conversation from earlier was still echoing in your head.
You’d spent the rest of the day trying to think of who you could possibly ask to do this with you. Going through a mental list of every person you knew, and their likeliness of them saying yes.
At first you’d thought about asking Kiro, the two of you got along well and you’d think he’d go for the chance to spend a couple days with you. Except, he was also an international pop star and not only would Savin never allow it, but you didn’t really want to be harassed by an army of jealous Kiro fans online.
You then thought of Lucien, he’d always been kind enough to help you with programs in the past, but he was so busy you can’t imagine you’d be able to pull him away from his work to do this show. You also couldn’t really imagine his personality type on this time of program.
For a brief moment during a phone call earlier in the day you’d thought about asking Victor, however that idea was scrapped almost as soon as you thought of it. Victor was too high-profile for a show like this, on top of that he would never agree to pretend to date you for it. You’d have better luck getting a dead body to come on the show with you.
There was always Gavin but. Gavin was complicated.
On the other side of the bed your phone rang, breaking your train of thought. After a moment of groaning you pulled yourself up and propped yourself up on your elbows. “Hello?” You said, trying not to let the frustration in your mind seep into your words.
“What’s with that tone? Not happy to hear from me?” You held back another groan.
“No I’m just not in a great mood.” You started. On Shaw’s end you thought you could hear the sound of his skateboard on the pavement. “Are you calling me while skating right now?”
Shaw made a “humph” sound. “So what if I am? I’m smart enough not to hurt myself.” You still were convinced it was safe but you knew better than trying to argue with Shaw. That energy would be better spent on arguing with him on something important.
“Just be careful.” You said. “So, what do you need?”
“Why are you assuming I need something?” Shaw asked.
“Shaw you pretty much only call me to trick me into buying you dinner or to drag me along on whatever chaos you’ve decided on for that day.” You explained. Rolling onto your back you stared up at the ceiling.
From Shaw’s end it sounded like he had gotten off his board. “Hasn’t anyone ever told you that the way to man’s heart is through his stomach?”
“Who ever said I was trying to get into your heart?”
“Just food for thought.” Shaw said. “Anyways, I’m on my way to yours right now. I’m in the mood for hotpot.”
You sat up, gasping at this boy’s audacity. “You are just trying to get me to buy you food!”
“I never said I wasn’t. I’ll be there in five, be ready for me.” The line went dead before you could shout at him. Finally allowing yourself to groan loudly you dragged yourself out of bed to at least put on a jacket and grab your keys and wallet.
Leaning against the wall of your apartment building you saw Shaw’s silhouette against the sunset. As expected he was racing down the sidewalk on his skateboard, when you met his eyes his lips pulled into his typical smirk.
“Waiting for me outside? Are you really that excited to see me?” Shaw said once he was close enough to be heard. You rolled your eyes and shook your head.
“No! I just got ready quickly so I figured I’d get some fresh air!” You huffed. Despite your pout, Shaw’s smirk remained. “You said you wanted hotpot? There’s that place down the street. Let’s go there.” Shaw shrugged and held his board under his arm.
You sat across from Shaw. Between you the broth was boiling as Shaw added in the first hotpot ingredients. You propped your head up on your hand, like most evenings the post-work exhaustion had hit and you could already feel yourself fading and your eyes slipping closed. .
“Hey!” Shaw snapped his fingers in front of your face. “Stop daydreaming. Don’t waste your time with me like that.” You blinked a few times and looked back up to face him.
You sat up straighter to try and break out of your train of thought. “Sorry. What were you saying?”
Shaw squinted at you. “What’s with you today? You’re acting dumber than usual.” You almost wanted to throw some sarcastic comment back at him. Instead you just ended up sighing,
“Work stuff. Doesn’t matter.” You said leaning forward to look at the hotpot Shaw was checking on.
You needed this show to happen, you’d worked so hard to get it set up and figured out. You couldn’t let it fall apart because of this. Still, you needed someone, and you were running out of time. At this point you were about to call Minor and beg him to come with you.
After watching the pot for a long while your eyes fluttered up to look at Shaw. He was so focused on the food that he didn’t even seem to notice you looking at him. Watching him toss some more veggies into the pot your mind seemed to pause for a moment. A strange thought going through your mind.
“Hey Shaw.” You started.
“What?”
“I need to ask you something, and I need you to hear me out.” You said. Shaw looked back up at you now. “So there’s this show my company is filming next week.” You started
Shaw furrowed his brow. “What does this have to do with me?” You shot him a glare.
“I said hear me out!” You exclaimed. “It's a challenge based game show. A bunch of couples are going to have to undergo challenges to see how strong either relationship really is.” Shaw was staring at you, like he was waiting for you to get to the point. “Last second we had one of the couples drop out and so I need-”
Shaw rolled his eyes. “I’m not going to go on your show.” He said. “Besides, you said this is for couples. I’m not dating anyone.”
You leaned forward. “I wasn’t finished.” Shaw went back to stirring the hotpot shaking his head. “I would try and find a real couple, but filming starts on Monday and it’s already Friday night. I already offered to go on the show, I just need someone to pretend to be my boyfriend.” Shaw kept eyeing you.
“So you want me to be your fake boyfriend?” You nodded. “Why me?” He asked. “Why not ask your beloved Officer Gavin or something. You know he'd say yes in a heartbeat” Shaw explained dropping more vegetables into the pot. You anxiously rubbed your hands together.
“I know he would. But-” You started. Staring at the bubbling pot as you bit your bottom lip. “I care about Gavin. A lot, he’s a kind and wonderful guy but…” Shaw raised an eyebrow. “I don’t want him to get the wrong idea. I just see him as a friend and I don’t want him to get confused.” You said, glancing up you looked back at Shaw’s face.
You sat in silence as the hotpot cooked. You waited for Shaw to say something, look at you, anything. After a while you shook your head. “I shouldn’t have asked, forget it.” Shaw looked back up to you.
“Hey I never said I wouldn’t do it.” Shaw said.
“You weren’t saying anything!”
“I was thinking.” Shaw said and leaned back in his seat. “What’s in this for me?”
You were almost prepared for this. You sat up straighter in your seat, Shaw could be a hard sell, but he actually might be a perfect choice. His personality would add a lot of flavor to the show.
“First of all, it’s all expenses paid. Food, boarding, all of it, plus all the cast members do get compensated.” Shaw still didn’t seem convinced, he was almost worse than Victor, at least with Victor you could usually tell right away when he hated your proposals. “You’d get to be on TV of course-” Also no reaction, but the more you talked the more you wanted to convince him. “You’ll get to mess with me the whole time, and I’ll owe you big time.”
Shaw was still silent, as he dipped strips of meat into the broth to cook. “The show sounds kinda dumb.”
Balling your hands into fists you bit back the urge to get angry. “If you don’t want to do it you can just say no.” Ignoring you, Shaw pulled out his phone, you couldn’t see the screen but as he turned it towards him you thought you saw a text message flash across the screen.
A smirk pulled across Shaw’s lips. “Well today's your lucky day.” Shaw set his phone aside as your brow raised. “Sounds like Adam ate shit and sprained his wrist. Our performance this weekend is cancelled.”
“Is he okay?”
“He’ll live.” Shaw said. “Guess I could do this silly little show of yours.”
“You’ll do it?”
“Well I don’t have any other plans so why not, Jensen’s already elected to cancel the show.” Shaw said. You wanted to jump out and cheer. The show was going to go on, you had a replacement now. This was going to be okay, everything was going to be okay.
From the other side of the table Shaw was watching you, his eyebrow raised in confusion by your excitement. You didn’t even care that he was judging you with this gaze, you were far too happy to try and defend yourself.
With a subtle shake of his head, Shaw dropped the noodles into the pot, glancing back up at you he tried to hide the smirk on his face.
This was bound to be interesting.
--------------------------
You’d told Shaw you’d pick him up in the morning to take him to the filming location. Sitting in your car you waited for him to show up, you were more than familiar with his history of being late but of all days today was the one day you absolutely didn’t want him to be.
Tapping your fingers against the steering wheel you considered calling him. Telling him to get a move on, you couldn’t be late. Especially since you’re supposed to be on the show too.
Biting your nails you tried to think of when he could come out. Your eye on the clock you tried to think of how long it would take to get there, you couldn’t be late to your own show. Staring at the clock you didn’t even notice the movement in the corner of your eye.
“Oi!” You turned towards the passenger side window. Shaw was tapping his finger against the window leaning down so his face was level with yours in the car. You gave him a look.
“What?” You shouted so he could hear you. Shaw rolled his eyes, he made a show of
trying to open the car door to no avail. Your face turned beet red and you unlocked the door for him. Shaw plopped himself down in the passenger seat. Tossing a backpack into the backseat.
“Sorry. I didn’t realize it was locked.” You said.
“Do you usually keep it unlocked?” Shaw asked with a glare in your direction.
“No!” You insisted while you rolled your eyes.
“You shouldn’t, only an idiot would keep their doors unlocked for any stranger to get in.” Shaw said, pulling the seat belt over his chest. You wanted to try and get back at him, say something, but instead you just rolled your eyes.
Shaw turned up the radio, he flipped through radio stations until he seemed to settle on something he liked. You kept mostly silent, conversations with Shaw usually came fairly naturally. He didn’t usually seem to have any issues when it came to finding something to talk about.
“We should probably have a story right?” Shaw said about ten minutes into the drive. His voice threw you off for a moment, your gaze turning back to him.
“Story?”
“For the show?” Shaw asked like it was supposed to be obvious.
“Oh!” You said, your cheeks burned a bit. Of course he’s thinking about the show right now. “You’re right we probably should. They’re going to ask us how we met.” You focused on the road, but shot a few quick glances at Shaw. “So, what should our story be?”
Shaw thought for a second, “We met on a bus. It’s not a lie.”
“That’s not a good story though.” You said. “It needs to be more interesting than that!” Shaw rolled his eyes. You fell into silence again as you tried to think of a story. Something believable but also interesting enough for the show.
“Maybe…” You said. “We met at a show at Live House. I went to blow off steam after work, you were there because you’re always there.” Shaw looked like he wanted to interject but you stopped him. “We met at the show and started talking, and that’s how we got together.”
Shaw tapped his fingers against the car door in rhythm with the music. “Seems believable enough.”
Together you ran over the details a few more times, making sure you both were clear on the story you would tell the cameras. Once you were both sure and rehearsed the car fell back into silence. You focused on the road while Shaw hummed along to the music on the radio. You knew his voice was good, you’d heard him perform in his band more than once. Still the warm tones of his voice drew you in. You were nearly forcing yourself to breathe silently so you could hear him better. You didn’t dare interrupt him, and he continued for the rest of the trip.
Once you’d pulled into the set you sat in the car for a moment. The closer you had gotten to set the more a knot started to grow in your stomach. You’d produced dozens of shows by this point but there was something different about actually being in the show this time. Knowing you’d have to be on camera made you feel much more nervous. Chewing on the inside of your lip you stared off into the distance, your gaze not fixating on anything in particular. Maybe offering to go on the show was a bad idea, maybe you should have just tried to find someone else to do this show. It’s too late though, you can’t back out now. You already dragged Shaw all the way here and into your mess.
In the passenger seat Shaw stopped his humming, you hadn’t even noticed until his voice was cutting into your thoughts.
“Weren’t you saying we were late shouldn’t we-” Shaw started. You tried to take a few deep breaths to calm yourself. Shaw started to talk again, “Hey.” He said, his voice a little softer than his usual tone, you felt his warm hand rest on your shoulder. “Breathe. In for four seconds.” You didn’t have time to question him and followed his instructions. Closing your eyes you took a deep breath in. “Hold it.” He said after the four seconds were finished, you held your breath and kept your eyes closed. After about seven more seconds the grip on your shoulder loosened. “Exhale for eight.” Nodding you followed his instruction and exhaled.
When you finished Shaw’s hand on your shoulder tightened again. “Do it again.” He said, nodding you took the breath in for four and held it for seven, then another long breath out. You did this five more times. Until the tension in your shoulders released and you could think clearly again.
After a little while longer you let out a sigh. Shaw’s hand left your shoulder. You looked over at Shaw in the passenger seat.
“Thank you. I’m sorry for that.” You said. Beside you Shaw shrugged.
“Just remember to breathe and you’ll be fine.” Shaw said.
Pulling the key out of the ignition you took another deep breath. “How did you know how to do that?” You asked him.
Shaw reached into the backseat to grab his backpack. “It’s just a simple breathing exercise. It’s not rocket science.” Shaw looked out the window.
Taking in the set one more time from a distance you unlocked the doors. You and Shaw both shut the car doors. Standing next to you, Shaw elbowed you. “Are we waiting for something?”
After shaking your head you walked together into a set where production assistants rushed around to set things up. You recognized a few of the other couples from casting a few weeks ago. As you walked onto set, some people seemed to recognize you, waving at you when they saw you. You waved back greeting people as you passed.
Shaw mostly kept quiet as you greeted everyone, you noticed the way people would look at him. Even if he wasn’t speaking much there was still something striking about him. Maybe it was the lavender colored hair he swore was natural, or the little slits in one of his eyebrows. Or maybe it was that presence that Shaw had. A presence that demanded attention, something about him that just drew people towards him. At least to look at him.
Eventually the two of you settled into standing in a circle with some of the couples who were going to be on the show. All chattering excitedly with each other.
“I wonder what kinds of challenges they’re going to have us do.” One person asked. The others talked amongst themselves. You already knew what challenges were set up for the show. However you also didn’t want to let them in on the challenges. You held your tongue so not to say anything.
“Maybe it’ll be like the newlywed game?” Another person suggested.
“That seems a little generic.” A third person said. Shaw eyed you out of the corner of his eye. He obviously knew that you knew what the challenges would look like, still you didn’t say a word.
They discussed some of the other possible challenges. Some of their ideas were close to the truth or quite far off, still you kept quiet. You noticed that Shaw wasn’t throwing his own thoughts into the conversation. Right now, he almost seemed content to just listen right now.
Eventually the conversation shifted to how all the couples had met, around the circle of people couples started to tell their stories. Some met at work, one couple were high school sweethearts, another couple had met on a dating app, eventually every couple had told their story until it was just You and Shaw left.
The woman next to you turned towards you. “How about you two? You’ve been awfully quiet.” You looked at Shaw, who was smirking at you. You cleared your throat and rubbed the back of your neck.
“We met at a concert.” You said. “I went to see this local band I was a big fan of and-”
“I’m the bassist of the band.” Shaw interjected, you glared at him. He was actually going to alter the story? Right now? You attempted not to let your shock shine through, but the way Shaw was smirking he clearly recognized your surprise. “They had gotten themself into the front row. They kept staring at me the entire time I was on stage.” Shaw explained.
You pressed your lips together then continued the story after Shaw took a pause. “To be fair he kept staring at me too. He was constantly trying to get my attention.” Shaw’s trademarked smile didn’t falter. “Then, after the show he kept trying to get me to come backstage to talk to him.” You continued. You opened your mouth to try and say more but Shaw stopped you.
“Well babe it didn’t take much to get you to agree.” Shaw said leaning closer towards you. You tried not to let the newfound flush in your face show. “We went backstage and they just kept talking about how much they loved the band and how well I performed.” You held yourself back from hitting him. He was really determined to make you sound ridiculous.
“I am a pretty big fan so of course I was pretty excited to get to talk to him.” You explained. “We talked for a few hours and by the end of the night he was practically begging to come home with me.” This time, Shaw’s smile tightened. If he was going to make you sound ridiculous, you were going to make him sound just as silly. “I didn’t want to rush things so I gave him my number instead.”
Shaw put his arm around your shoulder pulling you close to him. He’s really trying to sell this act. “I of course accepted their number, but they just kept texting me ya’know.”
“So were you babe.” You shot back. “We were talking constantly, and he constantly asked me out to dinner for weeks.”
“Well I managed to wear you down eventually.” Shaw pulled you close again. “The rest is history.” Shaw finished. The circle seemed to be invested in your story. You hoped it sounded realistic enough to them, and based on their expressions. It must have been.
The woman who originally asked you grinned. “That’s such a cute story! And you both look so good together” She said. You thanked her. The red in your face was getting worse. As you stood here you became almost painfully aware of Shaw’s arm around your waist.
The group continued on their stories and conversations. You jumped in from time to time but didn’t still try to give away more details about you and Shaw’s fake relationship. The original story was already starting to fall apart, so you didn’t want to big yourself a hole so deep the two of you can’t explain your way out of it.
Behind you one of the production assistants shouted towards the group to get everyone’s attention. “Alright! We’re going to start shooting here pretty soon. Make yourselves pretty, eat something whatever you need to do!” Everyone nodded and gave a thumbs up to the production assistants. The couples started to peel away from the circle to get themselves ready.
“Aren’t you going to get ready?” Shaw asked.
“I am ready.” You said. Shaw looked you up and down twice. You crossed your arms over your chest. “I got ready before I got here. What about you?”
“What about me?” Shaw said, his smile turning more into a smirk. “I’ve never looked better.” You wanted to throw something at him, but instead you just took a long, stressed breath. Shaw’s arm dropped from your waist and leaned against the wall. Shaw shoved his hands into his jacket’s pockets.
You left Shaw on his own for a little while while you talked with the production team. They gave you their estimated itinerary and a general run down on how things have been going so far production wise. While you talked with them you noticed Shaw out of the corner of your eye, still watching you. His gaze never leaving your direction.
The director gathered everyone into a circle to explain the plan for the day. The shoot would take place over two days, with the cast and crew staying in a hotel not far from the shooting location.
“Alright.” The director started. “Here’s the game plan everyone. The first thing we’ll be
doing are  introductory interviews. We’ll ask you a few questions about your histories and relationship. After that they’ll get started on the first challenge, any questions?” The whole cast glanced back and forth at one another.
The director answered a few questions but kept it brief. As he finished up, members of the production team started pulling couples aside for their interviews.
You and Shaw were called up second to last for your first interview.
“You’re fidgeting.” Shaw said as you got into your places. You curled your hands into little fists so they would stop playing with your clothes. You avoided showing your annoyance at him. After all, you were supposed to be acting as a couple.
The director sat up straight in his chair. “Alright you two are you ready?” You nodded, making one last check to make sure your hair looked alright. Beside you Shaw removed his hands from his pockets. He seemed rather casual about this, unlike yourself.
“We’re ready.” Shaw said. You took one last long breath before trying to put on your best on camera expression. Shaw on the other hand, looked completely unbothered as the crew finished setting up the audio and lights.
You watched as the director called for silence on the set. You tried to fight your shaking hands, your stage fright worse than you expected.
Shaw seemed to notice your anxiety, beside you, you heard him click his tongue. You were about to say something when Shaw took your shaking hand in his. Holding it tight. From the corner of your eye you tried to get a glimpse at Shaw’s expression. His face was the same slightly amused but fairly serious expression as always.
“Action!” The director called. You put a smile on for the camera and squeezed Shaw’s hand still holding yours.
“So-” The show’s host began. “Tell us about yourselves.”
The introductory interview went as well as it could have. You repeated the same story you’d decided on while you were on the way there. Shaw spoke with a confidence that surprised you. It reminded you of the way he looks when he performs on stage. Confident and self assured, maybe a little bit cocky, but mostly charismatic.
On the other hand you weren’t so confident in your performance. Multiple times you had to stop yourself from stuttering or getting panicked. Still, you managed to get through it. And once the director said you were finished you sighed deeply in relief. Once the director said cut. Shaw let go of your hand to shove it back into his jacket pocket, and while it took a while to notice, you felt a bit empty without him.
The rest of the day was just filming the show, doing games and challenges. Interspersed with more short interviews. Time seemed to move quickly, you hadn’t even noticed how much time had passed until the sun had started to go down and you realized how your body was aching. Throughout the final challenge you were fighting to keep yourself standing despite your aching legs and headache blooming behind your eyes.
When the director called for the end of the night you really realized just how heavy your body was. Beside you Shaw seemed fine, near the end of the night he did seem to be moving a bit slower but he didn’t seem as tired, or as drained as you were.
You dragged yourself back to the car, the thought of a warm dinner and comfortable bed propelling you forward. Shaw beside you didn’t seem to be struggling nearly as much.
“Why are you walking so slow?” Shaw asked, raising an eyebrow at you.
You frowned. “I’m tired. I’ve been on my feet all day.” Shaw’s expression didn’t change. You stopped in front of your car and sighed, your eyes were starting to feel heavy and your body felt like you could collapse at any moment.
Going through your bag you tried to find your keys. Shaw watched you with his typical somewhat judgemental gaze. Once you felt the keyring between your fingers you pulled the keys from your bag with a short sigh of relief.
But before you could unlock the car doors Shaw plucked the keys from your hand. You shot him a glare.
“Hey!” You started.
“You look like a dead man walking.” Shaw said. “You’ll kill us both.” Shaw slid into the driver seat. You opened and shut your mouth again, and after a moment of disbelief you sighed and got into the passenger’s seat.
“Do you need directions to the hotel?” You asked while you settled into your seat. Shaw turned the car on, pulling it into reverse.
“I’m hungry, let’s get food first.” Shaw said, turning to watch behind him as he backed out.
“The company is covering room service for everyone. We can just eat at the hotel.” You explained.
“Nah.” Shaw said. “I want to go somewhere else.”
“Do you know the area at all?”
“Nope.” The car pulled out of the parking spot, Shaw turned back to sit against the seat of the car. You wanted to argue with him, but you were too tired and knew better than arguing with him when you could hardly think straight.
You let your eyes slip closed while he drove. Shaw turned the radio on, but kept the volume low for you to rest. With your cheek pressed against the cool car window, your eyes opened from time to time to check on your surroundings.
Sneaking a glance at Shaw he was completely focused on the road. His face was blank and concentrated. You decided to trust him that he knew what he was doing, and that he wasn’t going to be crashing your car.
You were roused from your dozing when you felt the car stop. Opening your eyes, the car was stopped in front of a small takeout restaurant, a few people lingering in front.
Shaw glanced over at you. “Awake now?” He jeered.
“What is this place?” You asked as you looked back at the small building hardly larger than a food truck.
“It’s food.” Shaw said.
“Do you know if it’s any good?”
Shaw sighed loudly. “So many questions.” Pressing your lips together into a fine line you fought back the urge to argue with him. “Come on.” Shaw got out of the car and shut the door behind me. After taking a moment to collect yourself you got out and followed Shaw towards the building.
Once you’d gotten your food you both sat down at a picnic table a little ways away from the restaurant. You both dug into your food with no delay, after a long day of filming it seemed the two of you were both hungrier than you’d let on.
You watched Shaw while you ate. Something in you couldn’t help it, being around Shaw you always felt somewhat disoriented. You could rarely figure out what he was thinking, or even how he was really feeling. He always knew what to say to push your buttons, to make your face red and want to shout. Still, you found yourself spending more and more time with him, even if just to watch him. Seeing the small changes in his expressions, or the glint he got in his eye when he seemed amused or excited about something. How despite his facial expression you could always tell there was thoughts and emotions hidden under the surface that he would likely never share with you or anyone for that matter.
“Why are you staring at me?” Shaw asked, you blinked and cleared your throat. You hadn’t realized how long you were looking at him.
You looked down at the table and ignored the flush in your cheeks. “Sorry, I was just a little lost in thought.” You pushed some of the food around and took a few small bites. Now Shaw watched you while you tried to focus on your meal in front of you. You wondered what could possibly be going through his mind as he eyed you. The slightest bit of amusement in his eyes, his lips turned up in his signature teasing smile.
“Shaw, can I ask you something?” You asked. Shaw raised a slit eyebrow. “Why did you agree to do this show with me? I know it’s not something you’d normally be interested in.”
His smile shifted into a more neutral expression as he spoke. “I thought it could be entertaining.” Shaw said. “Besides, I didn’t have anything else to do so why not.”
“Because your gig was cancelled?” You asked.
Shaw didn’t meet your eyes, running a hand through his hair to push it from his eyes. “Yeah.” Although his answer was short, you had a feeling that it wasn’t the whole truth. That there as something else there. The issue was if you should push it or not.
“Can I ask you another question?”
Shaw looked you in the eyes, like he was trying to read your intentions. “What?”
“Why do you like being around me?” You asked. Shaw’s expression was still like stone. “You’re always messing with me, making fun of me, making me run around in circles. Why?”
He seemed to pick his answer carefully. He kept his expression guarded, yet you had a strange feeling looking at him. “It’s simple. You’re entertaining to watch.” Shaw said.
“That’s it? I’m like a TV show for you?” You said, despite the simplicity of his answer you felt almost a little, disappointed? His answer was simple, yet somehow you hoped he’d say more.
Shaw seemed to pick up on your disappointment. “Why do you look so upset? It makes you look uglier.”
Trying to keep yourself calm you held your breath. You didn’t want to lose your temper with him and yet you could feel the dam starting to crack. “I’m really just entertainment for you? Or someone to buy you hotpot when you’re hungry?”
Shaw smirked. “I like when you buy me cola too.”
“That’s not the point!” You insisted. “Am I someone important to you?”
The smirk on Shaw’s face fell, replaced with a slight frown. “Does it matter?”
“Is it wrong for me to want to know what you think of me?”
“It doesn’t matter. My opinion of you is meaningless.” Shaw said and took another bite. You pressed your lips together, again an odd feeling of disappointment took over again. Still you couldn’t quite determine why you felt that way.
You stared down at the table. “Well.” You started. “For the record. You’re someone important to me.” You said.
Shaw was quiet, you couldn’t quite bring yourself to look up at him. To see what his expression was. You rubbed your hands together, remembering the warmth of Shaw’s hand when he held yours during the first interview.
The silence lasted for quite a while. Your eyes stared focused on the table, avoiding Shaw’s eyes. Your heart felt like a jackhammer in your chest and no matter what you couldn’t seem to get it to slow down.
“I’m important to you?” Shaw said, his voice just hardly above a whisper. There was a quality in his voice, something that sounded almost vulnerable. Something that you’d never heard from him before.
Still, you kept your head down. “You are.” You spoke in a matching quiet tone. “You’re someone I care about. I don’t always understand you, but I want to.” You kept your clammy hands clasped together tightly, and your head bowed. Your appetite left as you sat there with the tension to thick you could cut through it.
After gathering your courage your eyes lifted to see Shaw’s face. He wasn’t looking at you, his eyes seemed focused somewhere else. His face was devoid of emotion, yet in his eyes you could catch some of that vulnerability.
“Shaw?” You asked. He didn’t answer you, staring into the middle distance. Your gaze fell to Shaw's hand, resting on the table. Watching him you remembered how warm his hand had been when he held it. How it seemed to calm you when you felt overwhelmed.
Moving slowly you took Shaw’s hand in yours. Shaw’s eyes broke from their trance to look at your hand. You tried to figure out what he was thinking, as you watched him the vulnerability in his eyes switched to what looked like panic, then a moment later. His expression closed off again into his usual neutral expression.
“You like holding my hand huh?” Shaw said, his voice also returning to its usual teasing tone. You glared at him then let the tension in your shoulder relax.
“If you don't like it you can tell me.” You snapped back.
Shaw’s lips curled into his classic smirk. “It’s not the worst.” He pushed the last bites of his food to the side with his other hand. “But your hand is all sweaty.”
You ‘humphed’ and tried to pull your hand away, but as you tried Shaw’s hand tightened around yours keeping you there. Once you realized that he didn’t want to let go of your hand you stopped pulling away. Letting his hand hold yours. Still, you did try and avoid his gaze. Something about the way his eyes seemed to pierce you managed to make your heart nearly stop.
“Are you done?” Shaw asked after some more time.
“Huh?” You looked back at him.
“With your food?” He said as if it was obvious. The tips of your ears turned red as you realized.
“Oh.” You looked down at the table. “Yeah I’m done.” Shaw’s hand left yours as he gathered up the trash from the table to throw it away. After you watched him for a while you got up from the table too. Your heart was still racing in your chest, though it wasn’t nearly as bad as before.
Shaw didn’t seem to mention or regard the moment that had just occurred. He threw away the trash and the two of you walked back to the car. You walked a bit behind him, your hand feeling cold without his. Clutching your hands together you tried to replicate that warmth, mostly to no avail.
This time you took the wheel to drive back to the hotel. Shaw leaned against the passenger seat and fiddled with the radio. You kept driving despite your heavy eyes, you could already imagine crawling under the bed covers to get some sleep.
------------------------
An unfortunate part of having Shaw be your fake date was needing to share a hotel room. You’d managed to quickly switch room types so there’d be two beds still. Sharing with him was far from ideal.
The feeling of crawling into bed was almost euphoric. The cool sheets and heavy comforter practically forced your eyes shut. You hardly cared for your surroundings as Shaw flipped through television channels. As you laid there you listened to his movements, constantly aware of his place in the room.
Being there your mind kept wandering back to that table where you ate dinner. The way you felt sitting there, with your hands clammy and heart racing. How strangely disappointed you’d felt when Shaw didn’t tell you what he was thinking. Then the vulnerability he showed for just that short moment. Why did he make you feel that way. Why did you care so much?
However, you fell asleep, before you could find your answer.
------------------------
When you woke up in the morning, your body was still heavy with sleep. At the sound of the alarm you and Shaw had both dragged yourselves out of bed to get ready for the second day of the film shoot.
The drive to the set consisted mostly of the two of you desperately downing cups of coffee to prepare for the day, hoping that maybe with enough coffee your leftover exhaustion would dissipate. With not much success unfortunately.
The second day of filing was much longer than the first day, and with the preparation from the day before everyone seemed to be moving much faster than it had the day before. By the time the two of you were on set, production assistants were moving everyone around to prepare for the first part of the day.
Even with the long shoot day time seemed to move quickly. The challenges moved quickly and you could barely process the passage of time until you were nearly the end of the day.
Before you knew it you were wrapping up and doing the final interviews. You stood in the same place you had the day before for the introductory interviews. Still with Shaw standing by your side and getting into the right position.
Yesterday you’d felt panicked doing that first interview. Today, your exhaustion seemed to override your anxiety and stage fright. As they prepared the cameras to shoot your hand felt cold again. Just like it had many times over the past two days.
“You two ready?” The director asked. Your head snapped up to acknowledge the director’s question.
“I’m ready.” Shaw said.
“Me too.” You said, clearing your throat. The director nodded then began the final interview. You answered the question and tried to ignore the voice in your head that told you to take Shaw’s hand again. As much as you wanted to, you clasped your hands together, desperate to ignore that voice that seemed to only get louder.
The shoot ended as the sun was going down. The last few rays of light still peaked over the horizon as the crew packed everything up and said their goodbyes.
The final remnants of daylight faded on the drive home. Your eyes kept falling shut but you forced them open as you drove the car. In the passenger seat Shaw stared out the window. He must have been feeling tired as well because he wasn’t talking as much as he usually would.
“Thank you.” You said as you stopped to drop Shaw off. “Thank you, again. For doing the show, I know it probably wasn’t your ideal way to spend your weekend but I hope maybe it was a little fun?”
“It was fine.” Shaw said. “It was pretty entertaining to watch you try so hard.”
“Well I wanted to give it a fair shot!” You explained. “But you did pretty good. I was really impressed.”
Shaw smirked. “I put effort into all the things I do. Even dumb things like that show.”
“Don’t you skip class like, constantly?”
“Sure but I still have top grades and an academic scholarship.” Shaw said. “Work smarter not harder.”
“Regardless.” You said to change the topic. “Thank you. I don’t know what I would have done without you, and I owe you. Big time.”
Shaw reached into the backseat to grab his bag. Sliding out of the passenger side door he leaned down to meet your eyes through the window. His gaze held that usual teasing tone of his, but this time something about that look was making your heart race.
“Well, I’ll keep in touch. Gotta get that big favor from you.” Shaw teased.
“Goodnight Shaw.” You said, fighting past your racing heart.
“Goodnight babe.” Shaw said. Your heart felt like it could break your ribs with how hard it beat, your cheeks and tips of your ears turning bright pink as he laughed and turned to walk away. Leaving you alone in your flustered state.
You drove away, your face bright red.
“That brat.” You hissed under your breath.
------------------------
You got a short day to rest after the shoot before returning to work. After that you went back to the office to get through the work that had started to pile up while you were preoccupied with the couple’s program. You had new proposals to write, other ones to flesh out and rework at the risk of another lecture and possible rejection from Victor.
The next week or so went past with little word from Shaw. You’d texted back and forth a few times. Mostly you giving him updates on the editing for the program, or him sending you some slightly teasing and maybe a little insulting jabs. Nothing out of the ordinary for the two of you.
Yet, with every message you reacted differently to how you would have before. A month ago, those messages would have annoyed you. Make you a bit frustrated before moving on with your day. Maybe trying to think of ways to tease him back for what he’s said.
Now though, it wasn’t like that. Every notification from him made your heart jump into your throat, every tease made you feel more flustered, the jabs even hurt at times. In a way they hadn’t before. When you responded you wanted to make him laugh, or maybe even say something nice.
You wanted him to like you.
The one thing you couldn’t figure out was when these feelings had started to change. When you started to care so much, when he started to mean so much to you. Had the change happened while you were filming the show? Maybe it was when you sat at that table eating dinner together, or maybe when he held your hand during that first interview.
Maybe you realized it subconsciously even before the shoot. Maybe you started to realize how you felt when you first asked him to be on the show. Even if you couldn’t quite place when you fell, it started to weigh heavier and heavier on your mind.
Fridays were the hardest day of the week in your opinion. Somehow they managed to be even more difficult than Mondays. You could see the weekend in sight and yet it was still so far away. The exhaustion of the week was starting to weigh on your shoulders. You’d already planned on spending most of your weekend resting and recovering. You had takeout menus set out and some television to catch up on.
Staring at the clock you watched the later hours of the afternoon tick by. The piles of proposals and unread emails felt like they were staring you in the face.
Your text chime threw you from your thoughts. Your eyes turned away from the brightness of your computer monitor. Pushing your desk chair away from your desk you leaned back and checked your phone.
Shaw: Oi. Are you working late tonight?
MC: I better not be.
Shaw: Good, come to the Live House tonight
You stared at the screen. Your tired eyes and end of the week exhaustion told you that you should just go home and sleep. Then, there was the other part of you, the part that felt excited about getting to see Shaw, and getting to spend time with him again. Even if he just ended up teasing you all night.
MC: I’ll go but I don’t know how long I can stay
Shaw: I’ll tell you when you can go home
Shaw: Meet me at 7. Isolated is performing tonight
MC: I’ll see you there.
There was just barely enough time for you to change clothes at home before you had to head out towards the Live House. You put on some more casual clothes, better suited for going out to a rock club rather than an office.
The evening air was cool against your skin. A light breeze blowing and rustling the tree branches. You walked down the sidewalk, passing others on their way to their Friday plans as you walked towards yours.
It didn’t take long to get into Live House. You got there early enough that a line hadn’t quite formed yet. Inside, loud rock music played over the speakers, you watched staff setting up amps and microphones for Isolated’s later performance. A sizable crowd of people was already starting to grow. With patrons first flocking towards the bar to start drinking before the show starts.
You pushed through the growing crowd of people to get to the bar. After managing to squeeze into the front of the bar you quickly tried to flag down a bartender.
You ordered your drink quickly to try and get out from the group flocking towards the bar. Your fingers tapped against the wood anxiously until the bartender slid your drink across the bar. Once the cup was in your hand you got out of the crowd quickly circling in on the bar.
Checking the time you leaned against the wall, there was still a few minutes before the performance started. You watched as people wandered around the venue, groups of people chatting together, others dancing along to the music playing over the speakers.
Sipping your drink you pulled out your phone. You’d hoped that maybe Shaw had texted you, even just to see if you had actually decided to come. After checking your messages and finding nothing, and after a long sip of your drink you sent Shaw a quick message.
MC: I’m at Live House, break a leg out there!
Nursing your drink you kept checking your phone for a response. Still as the time got closer to the show time you started to doubt that he would respond before he went on stage. Finishing your drink you shoved your phone back into your bag.
You pushed yourself through the thickening crowd near the front of the stage, and with some careful pushing and squeezing you finally managed to get into the front.
The moment Shaw was on stage your eyes were locked onto him. At first he didn’t notice you, getting himself positioned for the performance to start. It wasn’t until his bass was in his hands that his eyes swept across the venue, his eyes finally stopping when he saw you. His lips curled up into a smile, and as your eyes met his you smiled back, raising your hand to give him the smallest of waves. His expression shifted to a look you hadn’t quite seen before, he looked happy but also like was trying to hide it.
At the front of the stage Jensen introduced the band, the roar of the crowd breaking you from your trance. Your eyes quickly took in the rest of the stage, within a few moments of introducing the band they started the first song.
You nodded your head along with the music. This wasn’t the first time you’d heard this song, still your heart raced like it was the first time. You watched the band as they performed, Jensen singing the lyrics with a passion and intensity you could only get from a live performance.
While you did watch the band your eyes kept falling on Shaw as he played. Watching him perform was like nothing else. It was almost like he was a different person when he was up on stage with his bass. His guarded smirks melted away, his defenses seemed to come down, although he wasn’t really smiling up on stage he looked happier than you had almost ever seen him. Your eyes couldn’t move away from him, focused on his expression and the carefree way he moved and harmonized with Jensen’s voice.
You could hear your pulse in your ears, unable to keep yourself from moving to the music but your eyes never moving away from Shaw, watching him perform the world seemed to disappear around you, leaving only him in your vision.
Time had completely escaped you until the band was finishing their final song in the set. The crowd cheered loudly around you as they finished their final song.
Shaw, upon strumming his final note lifted his gaze to meet yours once again. His carefree expression looking straight at your excited and starry eyed face. He shot you a signature grin for a moment before his gaze was turned away to focus back on the band, although your eyes never left him until he left the stage.
Twenty minutes after Isolated finished their set, you noticed Adam and Jensen approaching the bar. Waving to you once they noticed you standing there.
“Hey! I thought I saw you in the crowd.” Jensen said, stopping when he was standing beside you.
“I was in the front.” You said. “You all did a great job out there.”
“Thanks, I think the crowd had a good energy tonight” Adam said.
A memory of what Shaw had said a few weeks ago flashed through your mind. “Oh Adam how’s your wrist? Is it better?”
Adam looked at you confused. “My wrist?”
“Yeah?” Your brows furrowed. “Shaw told me you sprained your wrist, which is why you had to cancel the show the other week.”
Jensen and Adam exchanged a look. “We didn’t cancel the performance. Shaw did.”
You blinked in surprise. “What do you mean?”
“He texted us a few days before the performance and said he couldn’t come. Something else came up I guess? He wouldn’t tell us. It was really weird though, even for him.” Jensen said.
You stood in surprise for a moment or two, taking in what they had just told you.
“Shaw’s a strange guy. It’s water under the bridge now, it’s not like we’ve haven’t had to cancel performances last minute before.” Adam shrugged. You nodded with them, although your mind still stuck on what they had said.
Once they’d gotten their drinks Adam and Jensen slipped into the rest of the crowd away from the bar. Leaving you alone again for a few moments.
Shaw had made up the story about Adam being hurt. All so he could be on the show with you? Even though he’d pretended not to care? You thought of the way your cheeks burned when he sent you texts, or how sad you felt when he let go of your hand, or how you couldn’t take your eyes off of him during the show. How somehow he’d managed to take over your mind.
Your mind replayed that scene at the hotpot restaurant when you’d asked him over and over. The way you wanted to convince him to agree so badly. Had that all really been for the sake of the show? You could have found someone else, you could have convinced Minor, or bit the bullet and asked Gavin. But you didn’t, you wanted him.
“There ya are.” Shaw said sliding in to stand beside you. You slid a glass over to him to a raised brow from Shaw.
“I ordered you a drink. Rum and mixed cola, your favorite.” Shaw picked up the glass, taking a small sip. “You did a really good job tonight, as always.” You said.
Shaw set the glass down on the bar. “I saw you watching me the whole show.”
“You always tell me to watch you, that I should only look at you on stage.” You reminded him.
Shaw’s smile grew. “That’s right. I’m the most important person for you to look at.” His smile made your heart speed up again, just like it had so many times recently.
After watching him take a few more sips you cleared your throat. “Shaw, can I ask you something? And you have to be honest.” He didn’t answer as he sipped his drink, but his expression gave you the go ahead. “Why did you agree to do the show with me?”
Shaw’s expression hardened. “Did you forget? Adam-”
“I know Adam didn’t sprain his wrist.” You interjected. “I asked him, he told me that he didn't.” Shaw was for once, seemingly silent although you could see the millions of thoughts going through his mind when you looked in his eyes.
You waited for Shaw to speak, but he still didn’t seem to know what exactly to say. The normally smooth and quick witted Shaw was still. So you continued. “I like you Shaw, and I think it’s more than a friend type of like.” You made sure your words were spoken carefully. “And, I think.” You took a deep breath in and out. “I think you may like me too. In a more than a friend way.”
Your heart was a lump in your throat, your hands a shaking mess as you spoke. You couldn’t even force yourself to look in Shaw’s eyes, afraid of what you’d see.
After some time you felt the familiar feeling of Shaw’s warm hand holding yours. Your gaze shifted just enough to stare at his hand, now tightly holding to you so your hand could stop shaking.
Building up your courage you forced yourself to look up at Shaw’s face. His amber eyes were staring right into your soul, his eyes showed emotion you rarely see in him. The vulnerability was back, this time, looking at you directly.
“Shaw?” You whispered. You knew he couldn’t hear you over the music, you couldn’t hear yourself over your racing heart.
Shaw was saying something. Quietly, so you couldn’t hear him over the music. HIs lips moved to say words you couldn't determine. You leaned forward hoping to catch what he was saying but still couldn’t hear him.
“Shaw I can’t hear-” Shaw cut you off, pulling you close to him, his lips hoving just beside your ear.
“You’re important to me.” He whispered. “And I do like you.”
Your cheeks burning, you turned your head to look in his eyes to determine his honesty. But what you found there was the same vulnerability, the same honesty, the softness you only saw in the most fleeting of moments.
The next moments happened without a single thought. You moved your head to kiss him, one hand holding his, the other on the back of his neck. Your heart beat faster than it ever had, but now instead of anxiety, it raced out of joy. Shaw’s other hand came up to hold your face to keep you there. Wanting to kiss you again and again.
Grinning as you put your arms around Shaw’s neck. and in your euphoria, you could hardly hear the voices of the group approaching the bar, loudly complaining about the sudden rain that had started seemingly out of nowhere, and their prediction that it wasn’t going to lighten up anytime soon.
You had a feeling they were right.

could you do poly lost boys with like a beachy, hippie vibes reader? like the reader dresses straight out of the 70s california scene and surfs and skateboards and stuff like that?
POLY! LOST BOYS x HIPPIE VIBES READER
Tumblr media
The boys were used to all sorts of people roaming around their boardwalk. Surfers, skaters, conmen, civilians. Humans wandered about like walking happy meals and the boys were all too content to indulge themselves.
They were used to the usual surfer crowd- a few locals but mostly just folks driving through to follow the waves. The four of them sat, lounging against their bikes as they watched surfers go in and out- lugging their boards around and exchanging tips.
You were a new face, and they assumed you had just shacked up with the rest of the vagabonds making their way across the coast but whereas the others steered clear of them when they got closer you had no problem when they slunk closer to the rapidly growing bonfire.
They circled you, attempting to intimidate you off the turf but you didn’t seem bothered at all- only smiling lazily at them with a cheery “Sup, dudes?”
The boys were shook.
You didn’t even look bothered when they flirted, David gently tugging on a strand of your hair, leaning against the lifeguard tower to loom over you while the others had you cornered.
But hey, no biggie. If these guys really wanted to hurt you they would’ve done it by now. So you just smiled lazily back at them, posture relaxed as they exchanged confused glances.
Intrigued by your seemingly unshakeable serenity- they invited you to join them on the boardwalk for the night, curious to test just how far your limits were.
At their offer you bobbed your head agreeably, ducking away to grab your over-clothes while they waited.
They don’t know what they expected but when you rolled up on a skateboard looking like you’d fallen out of a Beach Boys album cover they couldn’t help but gawk. Your aesthetic so directly contrasted their own that when the five of you roamed people stared- not entirely sure they were believing what they were seeing.
Paul was thrilled to mess around with you. Your calm vibes directly clashed with his wild nature and that sounded like it could produce some totally unique chaos and he was ready.
And boy was he right- just because you were chill didn’t mean you were chill. And when he (’jokingly’) suggested that you see if you can hit the employee of the water gun game right on the crotch you can imagine his shock when you simply grinned that sleepy grin, flopped onto the chair, and aimed with near military level precision right at the poor man’s groin.
The boys were so hype that they forgot that they could get kicked off the boardwalk and when the five of you were ushered away and onto the beach they weren’t expecting you to begin wading, knee-deep into the chilly evening ocean.
You flopped down into water, gesturing for them to join you as you floated on your back- completely at ease despite the black swirling waves that would crash over your shoulders.
David pointed out that none of them had brought swimsuits but you only gestured to your own, now soaking wet, over clothes. It’s the ocean, baby! Besides it’s so dark you doubt anyone would notice.
Marko was the first to hop in, stripping down to his boxers and belly flopping into the waves. He swam over to you, struggling to float and sinking too low a few times before you eventually just grabbed him and let him hold on to you in case he drifted too far out.
Paul was insistent that “I’m not gonna get my underwear wet that’s gross, doll” so instead he opted to skinny dip- tossing you a flirtatious wink that you only rolled your eyes at.
Dwayne and David hung back at the shore, leaning casually against each other and watching the three of with crossed arms and the laugh as Paul drifted too far out, doggy paddling frantically while you swam over to pull him back towards shore.
You were rolling with their punches and while that was an impressive enough feat.
But the fact that you were also incredibly cute?
....They felt like that hit the jackpot.

Here’s my entry to @firefly-in-darkness Winter Challenge!

A/N: For Daisy’s winter writing challenge, using the prompt “Snowed in at a cabin”, and I chose Thor. I hope you enjoy! I sure did :P
“Dammit!” you muttered looking out the window of the cosy cabin and seeing the snow inches high and covering the ground outside in an eerie blanket. That must be thigh deep, maybe even up to your bottom. You shivered at the thought and turned to the large empty cabin. This was meant to be a trip away with the Avengers and some of the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents who had been involved in some of the year’s activities. Now it looked like it wasn’t going to be particularly lively. Everyone had gone out skiing earlier in the day, but there was no way you were going to join them. You couldn’t skateboard, you couldn’t surf, hell, you couldn’t even roller skate. As your dad always said “you have the balance of a clumsy child” and he definitely wasn’t lying. You heard a crash upstairs. Oh great, Thor had finally woken up, apparently Gods weren’t immune to the ‘man flu’, and he had spent the day moping in bed. He came down the stairs, stomping heavily on each step.
“Is anyone here?!” he croaked out.
“Yes, I’m here, everyone else went skiing.”
“Oh, well when are they coming back?” he asked, looking over to you softly. You crossed your arms and swallowed, unsure how he would take the news that you were probably going to be alone and stuck in the cabin at least overnight, if not longer.
“Um, I guess you haven’t looked out the window, huh?” you laughed nervously. Thor frowned at you and stalked across the room towards you, his face up against the window.
“What? Just some light snow.” He looked back at you. You chuckled, forgetting how oblivious he could be. If he thought this was light then you wondered what snowfall on Asgard was like. “They can get back, I’ll just clear a path.” He stomped over to the front door of the cabin, pulling open the door. A wall of white blocked up to where the door handle had been, a small imprint in the snow. Thor moved forward into the snow.
“Thor! Stop, you’ll freeze!” Surely he couldn’t be this desperate to not be alone with you. He shuffled into the snow and it came crashing down into the lodge behind him. “Wait, you’re getting snow in here!” He stopped, looking over his shoulder to see the mess.
“AA, AA, ACHOOO!” he roared, echoing into the silence outside. Rolling your eyes you walked over to him, grabbing his arm and trying to drag him back inside. He looked down at you pulling at his arm, clearly perplexed that you thought you could move him, the mighty Thor. “Okay, okay, fine.” He conceded and turned inside, traipsing snow through the doorway.
“I think you’d better get out of those wet trousers,” you said, looking down at his now soggy legs. As you looked back up to his face, eyes raking across his body, lapping him up, you realised what you’d just said. His devilish grin and raised eyebrow made you blush furiously.
“Oh really, well, Y/N, I didn’t think you were interested in me…” he goaded.
“No, that’s not what I meant, I am, I mean, I’m, you’re…” you stammered over your words and walked away from him, cheeks burning and tripping over nothing on your way.
“Y/N…” he called. You turned to him and screamed, immediately spinning back. He was stood there in his underwear, fuck, you were going to struggle getting that out of your head, and your stomach filled with butterflies.
He laughed loudly, and snuck his way back upstairs, leaving you stood blushing with your eyes covered. He returned after a minute, seeing you in the same position as before. You hadn’t noticed he was gone, too wrapped up in your own head, thinking about his thick thighs, and the shape of his cock through his underwear.
“Y/N,” Thor said softly.
“I’m not turning around until you put something on.”
He stepped close behind you, his warm musky smell adding to your distraction. Reaching around you his hands encircled your wrists and he pulled your hands away from your eyes. He spun you around, you were closer to the God than you ever had been and your heart was racing. You glanced down, seeing he had replaced the soaking joggers with checked red pyjama bottoms, and a woollen jumper. He chuckled at you.
“Checking me out again,” he grinned. You blushed again and tried to pull away from him, but your arms were still in his grasp. He released you, and you took a seat on the couch. To your surprise he came and sat near you, despite the huge space. “So what are we going to do. Stuck here, surely there’s nothing exciting. I’m bored.” Thor had gone from sexy, strong, and desirable, to bored child within a matter of seconds. You realised that being stuck here in a small cabin, on a different world, he had no idea what to do. Being surrounded by servants and entertainers and life, and now action and strategy, he had not stopped. He’d never had to just be, and find something less… loud to occupy his attention.
“Well, we could put a Christmas movie on, or play a board game.”
“A bored game? I just said I was bored, I don’t want to play a game which would make me more bored.” You giggled at his naivety.
“No, a game, it’s a game on a board. Have you never played?” He shook his head, and you got up, opening the cupboard under the television and looked at the selection of games. All the classics were there as you’d expect, Catan, Cluedo, Scrabble, Frustration. No Monopoly, which was probably for the best, you could just imagine the arguments if you played that. Steve would be buried in the rule book, Thor would try and claim everything, Natasha would be winning without people noticing, and someone would definitely flip the board and rage quit.
You pulled out Cluedo, your childhood favourite. Sitting cross legged on the other side of the settle, Thor watched as you shuffled the cards and set up the game. You explained the rules, his face fixed in a frown.
“So you play games where someone has been murdered?” he asked.
“Well yeah, the fun is in solving the murder. And beating the other player of course.”
***
“I WIN! Right? I solved it, it was Colonel Mustard, with the rope in the kitchen!” Thor’s face was lit up.
“Take a look, see if you were right.” You had someone else as the murderer that you were convinced by, but maybe you were wrong. He reached for the solution and pulled the cards out slowly. He grunted and threw the cards down, standing up abruptly.
“This game, I don’t like it.”
“Not Colonel Mustard?” you grinned.
“No. Hey! How did you know, you cheated!” he loomed over you.
Laughing at him, you shook your head. “No, I didn’t cheat.”
“You’re lying! Unless there’s some sort of witchcraft in this?” he picked through the cards again.
“Wow, you sure are a sore loser,” you chuckled. He glared at you. “Well, I think it’s Mrs. Peacock, with the rope in the kitchen.” His eyes snapped up to you, shock echoing through his face. “I’m right, huh?” you laughed at him and began to pack up the game.
“I don’t want to play a board game,” he sulked back into his seat. You put the box away, and sat next to him, his face in a pout. “When are they gonna get back?” He stood up and stared out the window, the snow still coming down.
“I don’t know, maybe tomorrow.” He turned to look at you, features firm and frowning slightly. “Come on, you enjoyed the board game, is it really so bad being stuck here?”
“Yes, there’s not enough space. I’m bored,” his comments were starting to rile you. “There’s nothing to do.”
“I see, you don’t want to be stuck here with just me, I’m boring huh. Fine, I’ll go to my room.”
“No. Y/N, that’s not what I meant.” The rest of his protest went unheard by you as you stalked upstairs in a dramatic huff. You didn’t really know why his comments were bothering you, you just wanted to be liked by him you supposed. There really wasn’t any need to be mad or upset, but you were a bit annoyed that he kept moaning about being bored. You reached your room and slammed the door behind you, hearing Thor’s heavy footsteps on the stairs. Maybe you just needed a warm bath to relax you a little, and you padded into the bathroom and began to run your bath, dumping about a quarter of the bottle of lavender bubble bath in. Excessive, but oh well, you needed to unwind. You stripped off, before realising you’d left your towel at the bottom of your bed. Walking through to the bedroom in just your bra and panties, you weren’t expecting Thor to be stood there. You yelped and grabbed your towel, covering yourself.
“What the hell are you doing?” you shouted at him.
“Y/N, I’m sorry,” he turned away slightly, allowing you to cover yourself properly, “I just, I, I do want to be stuck here with just you. I mean, I’ve enjoyed being here with you.” Why was he stumbling over his words, you hadn’t seen him like this before.
“Oh, well, I’ve uh, me too. I’m going for a bath,” you looked at him, still a little angry and turned towards the bathroom. You padded over to the bathtub and bent over to test the water, and turned off the taps. Thor moaned quietly behind you, and you looked up. His eyes were fixed on your ass, which had been exposed when you’d bent down.
“Y/N, you don’t know what you’ve done to me, today has been claustrophobic, trapped in the cabin with you, not being able to distract myself from you or avoid you. Seeing you check me out, seeing you blushing, watching you concentrate on the game. Fuck, Y/N, you’ve been driving me wild.” He stepped towards you, and your heart was racing. Was he saying what you thought he was? He towered over you, stroking your hair, and moving to tilt your head to him. He moved slowly, cautiously to your lips.
You moaned into him as he filled your senses, that musky smell infiltrating your nose and breath, his warm lips and scratchy beard kissing at your lips desperately, his tongue pushing into you. His hand reached around you and ripped the towel away from you, leaving you in your underwear again. You whimpered between his lips and his hands grasped at you desperately. He picked you up and you wrapped your legs around him, your hands reaching into his hair. Feeling his muscles under his jumper, and the strength of his arms around you was quickly causing the heat between your legs to become more and more uncomfortable. He carried you through to your bedroom, crashing against the door on your way. He pinned you against the door, running his hands up your body, and pulling at your bra. It fell away from you and to the floor, quickly being replaced by Thor’s hands. Kissing down your neck, his mouth fixed around your nipple and he pulled on it, nibbling a little. You mewled as his teeth made contact, and his fingers pinched at your other nipple. Fuck. He grabbed your waist again, and carried you the rest of the way to your bed, throwing you down on it.
Pulling the jumper over his head, he revealed his rippling muscles. Your mouth dropped open, entranced by his incredible abs and biceps, mind racing with the different ways he could ruin you. He smirked as you watching him, and climbed on to you, taking your lips onto his. You leaned backwards and he ran his hand up your arm, entwining his fingers in yours and pushing your hand firmly into the bed. His hips ground into you, rubbing the sensitive part between your legs. You needed more, you needed him inside you. Reaching down between you, you cupped and stroked his length.
Thor growled, “eager to have me are you?” You nodded and bit down on your lip. He pulled away from you, and chuckled at the lust and pain at the sudden loss of him in your eyes. He paused for a moment, looking at you hungrily, his eyes gazing down your body. With his finger, he gently stroked your slit through your underwear.
“Soaked for me already?” You whimpered, blushing that your body had given away your need. Bucking your hips forward you tried to get more friction, to get his finger on your clit, but he pulled away and spanked you softly. You let out a moan and threw your head back. He was so frustrating. The smirk on his lips only made you more annoyed, and pouting you sat up, reaching forward to pull his boxers off. His hard cock sprung free; you had no idea how you were going to be able to take him. You moved to kneel in front of him. Wrapping your hand around him, you worked him into your mouth, barely even halfway down his length you could feel him at the back of your throat. The thought of what he was going to do to your pussy caused you to whimper around him, tasting his salty precum on your tongue.
His hands had been stroking through your hair, and pawing at your breasts while you sucked him, the wetness between your legs, still soaking through your panties. Without warning he pulled you off him flipping you over onto your front. Grabbing your hips he pulled you to your knees, and ripped off your underwear, leaving them torn and flung across the room. You were exposed and almost dripping in front of him. He slid his fingers between your lips instantly coated in your juices, and slid one thick finger inside you. He stilled.
“Please, Thor, I need more,” you moaned and rocked into his finger, trying to build friction, desperate for an orgasm.
“Mm, but watching you fuck yourself on my finger is really something. Maybe I’ll let you have another.” A second finger pushed at your entrance. You couldn’t help but continue to fuck yourself on him, getting yourself closer to a release. But too soon, he slipped his fingers out of you. You whined at the sudden emptiness, and his hands reached around you, lifting you up, your back flush to his hard chest, feeling his cock tease you. He walked over to the mirror in the corner of the room, and placed you down.
“Back on your knees baby, I want to watch you come undone on my cock.” You obeyed him instantly, your self-consciousness overcome by the desperation to come. He pushed your back down until your nipples brushed the carpet and nudged your legs open. The tip of his cock nudged at your entrance, sliding in gently. You clenched around him, your body acclimatising to the sudden fullness. With one hand on your hip, the other reached forward, twisting your hair around it. He thrust into you, harder, hitting your cervix, and set a maddening pace. Within a minute of him fucking you, you screamed around him, and seeing him fucking you in the mirror, lustful delight across his face, the coil inside you snapped. He moaned gruffly, your body shaking at the intensity of your orgasm.
He pulled back on your shoulders, holding you pressed against him. You leaned your head back into his chest, your boobs sticking out, as your back arched, still impaled on his cock.
“Look in the mirror. Look at yourself,” he whispered in your ear, and you made eye contact with him in you reflection. “I said, look at yourself. Look at the wetness between your legs, and the way my cock looks inside you. Look at the way your cheeks are flushed, and your eyes, the eyes of a woman who cannot get enough of me. Look at my hand pulling on your nipple.” Another orgasm was building as he whispered next to you. His cock rammed into you, hitting your sweet spot over and over. He kissed your neck, his hand still rubbing at your nipple, whilst his other that pinned you to him began to bruise you. Without warning your second orgasm hit, and you leaked over his cock, wetness trickling down your legs as you screamed around him. He didn’t pause this time, continuing to fuck you, biting on your shoulder now. He moaned in your ear, grunting as you felt him spill inside you.
“Fuck, Y/N, you are incredible.” He kissed your shoulder again, slowly pulling away, both of you wincing at the sensitivity. Thor stood up behind you, and gently lifted you to your feet. He swept you up, pausing to grab your towel, and carried you to the bathroom.
“Let’s have a bath, baby.” He kissed your lips and you smiled, still swimming in the high of your orgasm. He placed you down, and climbed into the bath, not letting go of your hand, he helped you balance and step into the tub. You settled into his arms, and spent time wrapped up together, soaking in the hot water until it began to cool.
You heard footsteps and voices outside your door, shit, how did the others get in? Panicking you jumped out of the bath, quickly wrapping your towel around you.
“Y/N! Thor! Where are you?” Tony’s voice echoed through your door. Bloody Stark, you knew he’d have found a way to get back, the hazard of being surrounded by geniuses and super heroes. You walked across the room to your door opening it slightly.
“Sorry, I was in the bath.” Tony smiled, noticing the red mark on your shoulder where Thor had bitten you, and looking over you seeing the messy bed covers and your underwear strewn across the room, a grin spread over his face. “What’s happened here, Y/N? Was there a fight? Have you seen Thor?” Tony pushed past you, looking around the room.
“Umm no, everything’s fine, are you sure he isn’t um, in bed still?” You lied, your face beet red. An almighty splash came from behind you, and Thor walked into the room, dripping wet and butt naked.
“What do you want Tony? I was enjoying a nice bath, is there an emergency?” Now it was Tony’s turn to blush, eyeing the muscled God before looking down to you, eyebrows raised.
“No, I’m fine, just checking you’re okay,” and he skipped out of your room, grinning like a child.
“What did you do that for?! Now everyone is gonna know what happened?” You turned to face Thor, pouting at him.
Thor grinned and kissed you deeply, pulling you into his arms. “Well they’re going to hear you screaming my name again at some point, sweetheart.”

The Seat’s Still Taken

TW: Offscreen death, discussed suicide, alcohol
999 words
/
The group of 6 was now 5. Their reunion after 10 years sank any full celebration after the funeral services finished. The best option to Ralph was the bar they always talked about going to when they were teenagers. It seemed pointless to wallow, so why not drown the sadness for a bit?
The bar was an hour away from closing, and it gave the group some privacy in the quiet hours. Blond haired, stocky Ralph played pool with raven haired skinny Jacob, trying to kill time before they found something to say. Ralph’s fingers tapped the table incessantly while Jacob was a statue outside of his combing.
By contrast, the ladies were visibly more concerned in varying degrees. Minnie, a large woman with large emotions, cried the loudest at the funeral and she was able to talk more freely as her coiled locks bounced with her as she gave everyone drinks.
“It just seems too close, y’know?” she asked warmly. “This close to the reunion? What are the odds?”
Watching the pool game and tapping her foot to the jukebox was Rebecca, whose red hair and striking cheekbones gave her a Golden Age of Hollywood appearance.
“The obituary wasn’t that clear but,” she said with a low hum, “You don’t think it was on purpose, right?”
Another voice shot out. “I don’t want to think about it!”
Downing her glass was short but muscular Jane, whose similarly short hair stuck to her head no matter how often she turned to look.
“I knew him, all right?” she pointed at Rebecca. “There’s not a snowball’s chance in hell he planned that crash!”
“I didn’t mean it like that, Janie,” Rebecca strolled and put her hands on Jane’s shoulders. “It wasn’t meant to be anything nasty. I’m also figuring out all this.”
Ralph and Jacob looked at each other and nodded to set aside the game to join the conversation. Jacob put his hand over Jane’s and Ralph talked to her at her level.
“No one here’s going to imply anything or say something nasty,” Ralph assured.
“We won’t know what happened anyway,” Jacob chimed. “Scott was always tight-lipped about what was going on and impulsive on what he enjoyed. He always liked good news more than having us worry. He loved thunderstorms because he could stay in playing video games.”
“He wasn’t one for pessimism,” Rebecca chuckled. “I could always count on him making the sweetest compliments when I wanted to act more feminine.”
Jacob grinned with ease. “Boy, if there was ever anyone who made sure you laughed, it was him. Either from a joke or doing something foolish.”
Minnie chuckled and agreed with a solid yes. “I remember one day he rode a skateboard to school, fell, and skid his knee on the pavement. You know what he did? He looked at his knee for a good three seconds, went ‘bummer,’ then got up and complimented a girl passing by.”
The group lightened up with their quiet laughter save for Jane. Ralph was stifling a laugh until he remembered another story.
“Oh, God, that reminds me.” He covered his face and muffled his laughter, coming out in squeaks. “So… So, he’s talking to Jeff-- You remember him, right?” The group nodded. “He’s talking to Jeff and being very close, and then they get the evil eye by these jock assholes. They’re about ready to clobber him. But he just whips out a rubber band and flicks it at one guy’s nose. He’s in pain, and Scott’s taking them away from Jeff. And he just keeps pelting them with an infinite amount of rubber bands. And this keeps going like a damn cartoon until Mr. Strauss breaks it up and gets between them. Before he leaves, Scott looks at the guys and delicately waves his hand and says ‘ta-ta, boys.’ And they are redder than tomatoes, it was the best sight I ever saw!”
Ralph and Minnie exploded in gut-bursting laughter, Jacob cackled and shoves Ralph, and Rebecca giggled while shaking her head. Jane didn’t laugh, but her expression lifted and she smiled in the remembrance. No awareness of the bar’s other patrons hit them as they laughed until happier tears rolled down their cheeks. The mirth slowed down as Ralph and Minnie had faltering laughs until they too died down and sniffled.
There was a silence following the joy, each one looking at their glass or at someplace else. It would’ve been completely quiet save for the jukebox and the quieter conversations from strangers. Ralph circled his finger on the rim of his glass, trying to think of something else to say but nothing arrived. Jane’s shoulders raised outward and she looked to an empty seat in their circle.
“Do you feel,” she paused before thinking about what she wanted to say. “Do you think he’s here with us? Like, spiritually?”
The group didn’t say a word for a moment, genuinely pondering what felt truthful. And more importantly, what felt right to say.
“I think so,” Minnie said. “I believe in an afterlife. I like to think he’s taking a trip from Heaven and taking a drink with us.”
Rebecca nodded. “Of course. It doesn’t feel like he left us. There’s a warm energy in that seat that I can’t explain.”
Jacob glanced at the seat and smiled. “Yeah. There’s definitely something there. Like watching over us.”
Ralph was torn on what to say. The most atheistic of the group, he thought what’s done was done. Talk about spirits and Heaven or Hell made him uncomfortable since he couldn’t imagine it reasonably. Still, his mind replayed mental footage of Scott laughing, smiling, pranking, loving. He wasn’t just gone, and he still existed in memory.
“I can still see him, yes.”
Jane sighed deeply and got out a last batch of tears. Minnie raised her glass up, and Jane sniffled before toasting with her. Then Jacob, then Ralph, then Rebecca. Then Scott, no matter how long they lived.

“Why couldn’t they have just put me in a group of four?”
Sooyoung said to herself while letting her head hang in defeat.
The two of you rarely had been able to spend time together the past weeks, because of her busy schedule. But today the management had finally granted her a free day and she was able to see you. It was supposed to be a day filled with activities involving only the two of you to make up for the lost time. In this dorm, however, that seemed to be impossible.
Sooyoung had just left your side for a second to get some snacks in the kitchen when you were suddenly surrounded by Kahei, Yeojin, Haseul and Yerim. The maknae made the other members sit down next to you and was now excitedly telling you something while waving a skateboard in the air. So much for spending some alone time. Sooyoung sighed and grabbed the plates of food to bring them to the living room.
“Wow, Yeojin, that’s awesome!”
She heard you praising the youngest as she came closer, making her almost roll her eyes.
You were just too nice for your own good. Her members loved you because of that. Whenever you visited the dorm, they swarmed you and wanted to spend some time with you; time that was actually reserved for her. It wasn’t like she wanted her members to hate you, but maybe they should just like you a little less so that she could have you for herself when you visited the dorm. There was nothing wrong about a little small talk, but why did you have to play games with them, let yourself get entangled in an endless conversation about bread or agree to sit still for hours in order to get yourself drawn. Her members could surely do those things with someone else too. She, however, couldn’t find herself another Y/N. It was a dilemma. When she looked over at the couch, she felt her heart flutter because of how caring you were, but at the same time, she also felt jealous, because you weren’t giving her any attention at all.
Grumpily she ended up standing behind you when she reached the couch because the seats next to you were already occupied. You immediately turned your head when you felt her hand on your shoulder and flashed her a smile before giving Yeojin your attention again.
“Ok, look guys, look. I can totally do a kickflip.”
Yeojin exclaimed way too loud before putting the skateboard on the floor.
Carefully she positioned herself on it before making sure a last time that everyone was watching her. Then she bent her knees to push herself off the ground, apparently with the attention of making her skateboard follow her. Unfortunately though, it side-slipped instead, causing Yeojin to lose her balance and fall to the floor with a loud thud. For a moment, the whole room went quiet in shock before everyone rushed to Yeojin’s side while pitying her.
“Are you ok?”
“Oh my god, are you hurt?”
“Can you move?”
Sooyoung watched the scene from the back. For a second, she was worried as well but when Yeojin started babbling chipperly a second later, she shook her head in disbelief. It was just not possible to spend a calm afternoon in this dorm.
Haseul and you carried the maknae to the couch with no regards to her protests.
“Let me try again!”
Yeojin whined, but you held her down on the couch.
“Definitely not. You’ve hit your head really hard.”
Responsible as you were, your parent instincts kicked in and you ordered Yerim to get some ice for Yeojin’s head.
“We have to keep an eye on you now. Who knows, maybe you have a concussion or something.”
Sooyoung felt bad because of the jealousy that flared up inside of her because of your comment. Of course, you were right. Yeojin could be seriously hurt. But she also knew that it meant that you would stay in the living room with the others instead of spending some time with her. She should be glad that you had learned to love her members that much and were willing to take care of them. Right now, however, she just wanted you to take care of her.
Sooyoung knew though that she could forget about that for now, so she dragged her feet to her room with a slight pout on her face. Yeojin seemed to be well taken care of and she really wasn’t in the mood to spend the afternoon with all the others. Therefore, she let herself fall on her bed where she immediately hid underneath her blanket in search for comfort. Boredom, however, soon started to make her feel even more irritated, especially because she heard loud laughter from the living room.
“I’m glad you’re having fun.”
Sooyoung mumbled bitterly before grabbing her headphones from the nightstand to start watching some videos on her phone.
It helped her to block out the noisy surrounding, but to her dislike, she couldn’t block out the noise in her head. Her thoughts kept revolving around you, making her jealousy grow with every second that you spend with them instead of her. One video after the other flashed over the screen without Sooyoung paying any attention to them. She was caught in her own head where she rummaged through all her memories with you to find the last time, the two of you had spent some quality time together without interruptions. She had to dig deep and was only catapulted back into the present time when a movement to her feet made her jump in surprise. Slowly she took out her headphones but kept hiding underneath her blanket.
“Jagi?”
Your familiar voice sounded in the room and Sooyoung could hear a little insecurity in it, but still decided to stay quiet.
“Is everything ok?”
You added after a while, making her huff in frustration. How could you be so oblivious?
“Of course, I am. You can go back to the others.”
She responded annoyed, causing the room to turn silent for a while. You didn’t say anything, but Sooyoung knew that you hadn’t left the room yet. You were still sitting at the foot of her bed, probably confused as to why your girlfriend was behaving so weirdly. Eventually, you shifted a bit and Sooyoung thought that you would be returning to the living room, but instead you piped up again.
“Baby...”
Your voice was soft, but Sooyoung also imagined having heard a little amusement in it.
“Are you jealous?”
You suddenly asked, causing Sooyoung to gasp offended. How dare you? Theoretically you were right of course, but she surely wouldn’t give you the satisfaction of admitting her jealousy. Grumpily she pulled away the blanket from her face to glare at you.
“No.”
She responded firmly before sulkily turning her head to the side.
“Hm...”
You nodded understandingly, but in the corner of her eyes, Sooyoung could see that you were suppressing a smirk.
“Such a pity. I wanted to prove to you that there is no need to be and show you some things that I only do with you.”
Sooyoung’s heart skipped a beat because of your statement, causing her to whip her head around. You smiled sweetly, but your insinuation was unmistakable when she watched you crawling on top of her.
A blush creeped to her cheek. Nevertheless, she couldn’t stop an excited smile to play on her lips.
“And what would that be?”
She feigned innocence, causing you to chuckle.
“I’m not great at explaining, I think I’ll better show you.”
You grinned mischievously before starting to leave featherlight kisses on her neck all the way up to the corner of her mouth. Sooyoung’s eyes fluttered close as you managed to make her forget about everything that was surrounding her with every caress of your lips on her skin. Reflexively her arms looped around your neck as you leaned back to look deeply into her eyes, silently asking for permission to continue. Without hesitation, Sooyoung pulled you closer to capture your lips with hers. Although her anger from before had fainted by now, she still couldn’t choke down the jealousy that was bubbling inside of her, making her deepen the kiss immediately to claim you, causing you to  squeak silently in surprise before falling into the steady rhythm of her lips.
Despite Sooyoung’s sudden burst of emotions, however, your kisses soon became slow and lazy as you laid beside her and entangled your legs with her to minimize the space between the two of you. Subconsciously, Sooyoung let her hands wander, slipping them underneath your shirt to graze your abdomen softly, making you hum into the kiss.
She had missed this. And she never wanted this evening to end.
Sooyoung promised herself to not let anything get between the two of you today, not even her lips that were swollen and probably incredibly red by now. There was just too much that she wanted to make up for. Once again, however, one of her members thwarted her plans. While the two of you were still laying tightly intertwined on the bed, the door of the room suddenly flew open.
“Y/N! Do you want salty or sweet- oh my god!”
Yerim squealed loudly as she realized what she had just walked into.
Sooyoung quickly pushed you away a bit and whipped her head around to see the younger member standing in the door with her eyes covered and a bright red face.
“Um... I’m so sorry... I-“
Yerim stuttered as she walked backwards and stumbled out of the room.
As soon as the door fell into the locks again, Sooyoung looked at you, causing both of you to start laughing loudly. She let her head fall to your chest and sighed dramatically.
“This dorm will be the death of me.”
You chuckled in response while patting her head comfortingly until Sooyoung swung her legs over the edge of the bed.
“Well I guess that was our cue then...”
She mumbled while trying to get off the bed to join the others.
Suddenly, however, a force pulled her back, causing her to yelp in surprise.
“Y/N! Shouldn’t we stop and go to the living room?”
Sooyoung asked perplexed, figuring that you probably owed an apology to the poor Yerim as well. But apparently you had other plans.
“No, why should we? They have been warned now to better not enter the room. That’s our chance.”
You shrugged causing Sooyoung to slap your arm.
“You are unbelievable...”
She muttered but didn’t put up a fight when you entangled your legs and started to devote your attention to her neck again. Sooyoung immediately started to relax and was willing to forget about the others when you suddenly pulled away. Confused she looked at you, thinking that you might have changed your mind.
“You know that you will always be my favorite person on this planet, right?”
You asked while stroking the outline of her face gently, causing her heart to flutter.
“Yeah, I know. I just wish that we could spend more time together.”
Sooyoung admitted and you nodded understandingly.
“Don’t worry, there will probably come a time when you’d be glad to finally get rid of me. For now, you should enjoy living your dream as long as it lasts.”
You responded, causing her to giggle. She wondered whether the other members would still annoy her in the future, even when Loona wouldn’t exist anymore; secretly, she wished that they would, because it would mean that they would always stay together. But she didn’t want to waste this evening, overthinking. Quickly she shook her head to get rid of all distractions and gave you her attention again.
“Well for now, I want to enjoy this a little longer.”
Sooyoung motioned between the two of you with her head, causing you to grin widely before leaning in for a kiss again.
Lovingly, you started stroking her sides while Sooyoung ran her fingers through your hair, enjoying the peacefulness of the moment. Maybe the two of you didn’t have tons of fancy dinner dates or romantic walks by the river, but Sooyoung knew that she wouldn’t want to have it any other way. No hardships in the world could make her want to have a different life and as long as she was your favorite, every memory with you was worthwhile.

Prompt: 14
Warnings: Handjobs AO3 Prompt:  hii:) could you write something about giving Michael a hand job, preferably grunge! Michael, have a good day<3
Ms Meade had been your neighbour for as long as you could remember. The white-picket suburb considered her a weirdo, but you quite liked her. Her eccentricity had a charm to it, and you would look forward to your afterschool conversations with her over the fence in the back yard. You were in for a shock when you returned home from your first collage semester. The neighbours had become a lot more friendly to the woman. Everyone and their literal mother always smiling and engaging in mundane conversation they hadn’t given her in years. The cause of all this? Michael. Michael was a boy that Miriam had taken in a few months ago. Her new ‘son’ was the talk of the town. You understood why when you were first introduced. He was handsome and extremely charming. His dazzling blue eyes seemed to bewitch high-school girls and house-wives a like. Apparently, he spent the summer as a pool boy, and something told you he was offered more than cash and an ice-cold Coke. You had quickly become friends with the boy next door, sharing a mutual interest in Emo classics and retro slashers. Your recent conversation with Michael was interrupted by Miriam’s doorbell. He rolled his eyes and sighed, before going to get the door. You heard the shrill voice of a woman, and a quick thankyou from Michael, before he shut the door. He re-entered the room, with a plate of cookies balanced in one hand, you could see the flex of his bicep as he carried it in. “Who was that?” you asked. “Mrs. Jones baked some extra cookies, so she dropped them off,” he smiled. You raised your eyebrow, “Jones? Jones never bakes extra. Trust me. In all those PTA bake sales, she prided herself is making the precise amount,” you said. Michael only laughed and shrugged, before inhaling one. “And,” you also took one, “she lives three streets away,” you pointed out. “What can I say,” Michael dusted crumbs off his face, “MILFs love me.” He winked as you rolled your eyes, pressing ‘play’ on your game of Mario Kart that was so rudely interrupted. You almost threw the plate at him when you lost for the 5th time in a row. “You must be cheating!” He only stuck his tongue out in reply. “You know what, I’m bored of this let’s go to the skatepark or something, I have some new roller-skates I need to break in,” you suggested. “Aww, is someone a sore loser,” he fake pouted. You threw a pillow at him in retaliation, before going to get you skates. //// Your trip to the park was cut short when Michael fell off his skateboard. He had scraped himself up and being the ever-dramatic drama queen, he leaned on you to limp home. “You’re lucky no one was there to see you fall boy wonder, Imagine the gossip tomorrow,” you laughed, sitting him down on his bed. He grumbled in response, you only laughed harder, going to get the first aid kit. Michael had taken his boots and trousers off by the time you returned, you assumed it was to make cleaning his scrapes easier. He dangled his legs off the bed as you knelt tend to his knees. The room was silent, expect for Michael’s hissing and groaning when you removed the little bits of rock or applied the disinfectant. “Stop being a baby,” you mumbled focusing on your work of patching him up. You finished and looked up, Michael’s intense gaze left you speechless for a minute, all coherent thought gone from your brain. Michael wasn’t faring any better, your hands on his thighs were driving him crazy. “Elbows?” you broke the silence. “What?” “I need to do your elbows,” you stuttered. He nodded, leaning back to let you get up on the bed. He kept the kit on his lap, hoping to cover the straining in his boxers. You repeated the process, finishing the dressing with an “All done.” You were already putting the contents of the kit away before Michael noticed, too late for him to stop you from lifting it out his lap. Your face heating up as you noticed the wet patch and straining erection he was hiding. Michael began to stutter something out, but you interrupted him, “does it hurt?” You put the box down somewhere. Your fingers travelled up his thighs, lightly stroking his clothed cock. “Ahhh, so much,” he whined. “Let me see,” you said in a low voice, hoping he couldn’t hear the shyness in your voice. He made a show of slowly pulling his top off, “Ms Mead would be mad if I ruined the shirt,” he smirked at you. You bit you lip and kept your hands to yourself as he pulled the waistband of his boxers. His cock sprung out, hitting his lower tummy and leaving a string of precum. You were fascinated by how pretty it was. You gently held the shaft and Michael sighed at the softness of your hand, fully leaning back into his pillows. You lightly stroked the precum all over his shaft, teasing the tip with your thumb on occasions. His moans and whines were getting louder, the sound was music to your ears. The more noise he made, the more confident you became. Michael let out a frustrated groan when you slowed down, just as he was about to reach his peak. He looked at you with pleading eyes, but you only smiled in response, almost stopping all together. “Please,” he whined. “Please what?” you wanted him to beg. “Please please let me cum, I’ll be so good I promise.” “Well, since you’ve asked so nicely,” You sped up your movements again, Michael had a vice grip on the sheets, his eyes screwed shut. You lightly tapped his cheek, “keep your eyes on me.” He quickly nodded. He began to twitch again, before he gasped and lifted his hips off the bed. Ropes of cum painted his abdomen and chest, and you stroked him through the aftershocks. His blissed-out face and red cheeks were a sight to behold, you wished you could have that image painted and put in a museum to be admired for generations to come (or cum). “You’re such a messy boy Michael,” you held you hand up to show him. He gently grabbed your wrist, bringing it to his face. He made a show of licking up your palm and to your fingertips, before taking you fingers to his mouth and gently sucking.
You shuddered at the feeling, and the unspoked promise of what was to come.

Another One Bites the Dust pt. 2
Summary: In which you accidentally run into the new guy, only for him to take an interest in you.
Tumblr media
Words: 6.6K Warnings: Violence and swearing. A particular scene here happened pretty early on when Billy first moved to Hawkins, but for the sake of this imagine just pretend it happened a little later on.
Requested? Yes. By a few of you. Lol. Part One can be found HERE. @charmed-asylum | @cilorawr | @misstartrekandel | @procrastinate-queen | @delvenakioti | @shelby-x
Billy Hargrove. The boy was an absolute dick to most, but you and he meshed pretty well thanks to the meddling of your best friend Heather. There were days where his dick-ish attitude just rubbed you the wrong way and you gave him the silent treatment until he cut his shit out, and fortunately for you he was quick to remedy his wrong the moment you shrugged off his arm when he was back in one of his playful moods.
You and he became the school's latest will they or won't they duo, and unfortunately for you almost the entire school was leaning towards when you would hook up, not if.
The school day has finally ended and you're more than ready to go home, even if it means riding the school bus since your car was in the shop. Both Billy and Heather were absent, and you had to endure muttered catty remarks, and you're just so over it. No matter how much you denied anything going on between you and Billy, the female population of Hawkins High still held a grudge against you for taking his attention.
Walking outside, you're heading towards the faded yellow buses when blaring music gets louder and louder, and gravel and dust is kicked up when a familiar blue Camaro skids to a stop nearby you. You cough, waving a hand in front of your face to fan away the dust, and then roll your eyes at a smirking Billy. "Don't you look awfully perky for someone who called in sick."
He chuckles. "Get in. I'm not letting you ride the bus."
Normally you'd banter a bit before caving, but you're tired. Riding with Billy sounds a hundred times better than riding the school bus with gossiping bitches. "Oh my god, yes. Thank you. I love you," you babble.
Quickly walking around the front of his car, you open up the passenger side door and plop down into his passenger seat. Billy leans towards you, nudging his sunglasses down the bridge of his nose. "Mmm. Say that again, but slower and whisper it in my ear."
You snort, shaking your head in amusement. "Not today, Hargrove. Please. I just want to go home and sleep."
When you look at him, you're a bit surprised to see how fast he sobers up. "What happened?"
"The usual. Now can you please drive or are we waiting for Max?"
"Max can skateboard her ass home." You frown at him, but you know better than to delve into his relationships with his family. As you and Heather have come to find out, Billy did not get along with any of his family whatsoever and it was best for everyone involved if you never mentioned it. "Your parents still out?"
"Yep, but-"
"Aw come on, Princess. No buts."
"Yes buts, Hargrove. I still don't need a guard dog to sleep at my feet."
He grins and quickly glances back out his windshield. "Who said I'd be sleeping at your feet?"
Groaning and laughing, you reach over to weakly punch his arm. "Shut up and drive, please."
Billy ends up cruising around town and down the back roads, knowing exactly what you need to decompress. With the window down and wind whipping through hair, you turn your head to face Billy and smile at him. He smirks back, thumbs tapping out beats along to the songs blaring from his speaker against his steering wheel. But all too soon the drive comes to a stop when he pulls up to the curb in front of your house.
Just as you reach for your backpack at your feet, Billy lowers the volume to his radio. "So listen, Y/N, I was thinking-"
"Whoa. No way!"
He snorts. "Shut up." You chuckle, miming zipping your lips shut. "So anyways, what are you doing tomorrow?"
"Besides sleeping? Nothing. What do you have in mind?"
"Let's grab a bite to eat. Just you and me. No Heather."
You hum as you open the door, sliding out. "Normally I'd tell you to get bent, but I'm game if you're buying." You shut the door and lean down to peer in through the opened window.
"Whatever you say, Princess. It's a date."
Your smile drops and Billy's smirk widens. "What? No it's not."
"What'd you say?" Billy raises the volume to the point that you flinch and he points at his ear, shakes his head, and shrugs. "I can't hear you!"
"You're a dickhead!" He laughs, clearly hearing you and revs his engine. On instinct you step back and Billy shoots off, leaving you waving a hand in front of your face to get rid of the dust his tires kicked up. You sigh. "It's totally not a date."
With nothing better to do and no one to tell you not to nap to your heart's content, you immediately jump into the shower to wash away all the lingering smells and germs from school. Afterward you dress in a shirt that's about two sizes too big and a pair of shorts that your father would burn had he known you were in possession of them. Then after vigorously towel drying your hair before throwing it up into a messy bun, you grab a pillow and blanket and fall onto the couch in front of the TV that's playing MTV.
Your eyes flutter shut for what feels like minutes, but when they fly back open the darkened living room says otherwise. For a moment you're confused as to why you were startled awake, but then the doorbell rings and nearly scares you half to death. When the pounding starts, you're quick to sit up and scramble towards the door, yanking it open seconds later. You're greeted by a beaming Heather and a too smug Billy.
"You have a date?!" She practically screeches.
You frown, rubbing the heel of your palm into your right eye. "Uh, no?"
"That's not what Billy says."
"Billy's a liar. You should know this by now."
Heather giggles and brushes passed you into your house. "Whatever. We brought Chinese. Hope you're hungry."
You watch her go and then turn to face Billy who's now eyeing you up and down. "Is that- is that my shirt?"
Immediately your face heats up and you glance down to see where his gaze has stopped. Grabbing the hem of the shirt and trying to lower it to cover your bare thighs, you nervously clear your throat. "You never asked for it back," you tell him. "You left your gym bag in my car for two weeks and I had to wash your rank ass clothes. I kept the shirt."
He slowly drags his eyes upward, eyes twinkling. "Looks good on you."
"Of course it does. I make everything look good."
You turn on the heel of your foot, gesturing for Billy to follow. He does. "Princess, please tell me you're wearing shorts. Because if you're not, I'm about to have a situation here."
Heather cackles from the kitchen and you roll your eyes even though he can't see it. "If you end up stiff, you're taking care of it in your car."
"You gonna give me a hand? Or a mouth?" He teases.
You snort. "Keep dreaming."
"Oh I will."
Heather dreamily sighs. "God I love when you two are like this," she says, gaze darting between you and Billy. "When you two finally come together, pun totally intended, it's going to be so explosive and I want all the nitty gritty details."
"As if," you say, the same time Billy says, "You got it."
Your friend giggles as she readily takes down plates and glasses from the cabinets. You turn to grab some Cola from the fridge and then head to take a seat at the table. Heather nudges you towards the chair that's closest to Billy and you huff a laugh but accept your fate nonetheless, crossing one leg over the other.
Heather quickly dishes out her food, she then passing you the containers. You dish yourself up some beef teriyaki and fried rice, absentmindedly dishing up the same for Billy while also adding two egg rolls to his plate. Heather coos, you blush, and then blush even harder when Billy slots his left hand between your pressed thighs underneath the table. Your instincts tell you to tell him to remove his hand, but the touch is innocent enough and you bite your tongue. It's as if he's warming his hand between your thighs like you absentmindedly do when your hands get too cold.
Laughter and chatter is shared throughout dinner, you filling them in on your day without them and they each sharing their bogus reasons for skipping school. Unknowingly you started eating with only your right hand and your left hand slipped under the table to join Billy's. You realized a moment too late that you were playing with his fingers, and when you tensed he chose that moment to squeeze your thigh.
You squeak and nearly fall out of your chair, and Heather stares suspiciously between the two of you. "What is going on?"
"Nothing," you tell her.
Billy grins. "I think I just found Y/N's ticklish spot."
You scowl as Heather's gaze drops, a smirk slowly forming. "You found the spot above her knee, huh? There's another spot on the back of her neck. Squeeze there and she drops like a sack of potatoes."
"Heather!" Your eyes widen. "You traitorous bitch." Billy reaches slowly for the back of your neck and you're quick to duck and swat at his hand. "Don't even think about it."
After a quick clean-up of the kitchen, Billy ends up staying a little while longer. The three of you wind up in the living room, MTV playing in the background as Heather playfully riles things up between you and Billy. Eventually though he has to leave and Heather informs you she's spending the night.
As you drag in the mattress from the spare bedroom into your own room, Heather showers to get ready for bed. You toss down extra pillows and a blanket, and then patiently wait for her to join you in your room.
With Cyndi Lauper playing on low, Heather paints her toenails as she asks, "So you and Billy, huh? It's about damn time you agreed to a date."
You sigh, painting your own toenails. "It's not a date."
"Are you sure?" She teases. Then a bit more seriously, she asks, "It's honest hour, Y/N. Do you really not want this to be a date?"
Taking a moment to think about it, you eventually put the polish brush back into it's bottle and meet your friend's gaze. "I like him. Okay?" She smiles. "But we've had this little back and forth going on for a while now, and it'd be weird for me to suddenly cave. I feel- I feel like once he's won, he'll walk soon after to the next girl playing hard to get."
"Oh sweetie," she coos. "Do you really not get that Billy likes you? He doesn't chase girls, Y/N. Girls chase him."
"But I-"
"Didn't chase him. Exactly," she muses. "You caught his attention. He wants you, not anyone else."
"I don't know, Heather."
"Trust me. If you're still not sure, dress casual for dinner. But if he flirts, you flirt back and see where it takes you."
You snort. "I'm pretty sure he'll try to take it to the backseat if I show the teensiest bit of interest."
"Nah. Hargrove's all talk. He'll only head in that direction if you're giving all the right signals. He'll tongue you for sure, but he'll wait for you to take the bigger steps."
You giggle, putting aside your nail polishes before falling back onto your pillows with a sigh. "Mr. California is going to be the death of me."
Tumblr media
The following morning Heather helps you make some breakfast before cleaning up your room and helping you choose an outfit for dinner with Billy. She keeps it simple with some high waisted shorts, a black crop top with its sleeves rolled up, and a pair of Doc Martens. It's super casual, but also something that would do well for a first date.
Heather ends up leaving just after lunch and Billy calls you soon after. By his teasing and chuckling, you know he's excited for later that night. He won't tell you what he has planned, but he does give you a time to be ready by. So after some light cleaning, because your parents will be home the following night, you take a few hours nap before waking up to pamper yourself a little bit.
Dressed and now deciding whether or not you want to wear a jean jacket that's about two sizes too big, you opt to leave it on and leave it open when you hear the doorbell ring.
Practically bouncing down the steps, your amused smile falters when you open the door and see Billy's solemn expression. He actually looks really good- the boots, the tight jeans, the deep red shirt that's been unbuttoned down to the top of his stomach, and the black leather jacket. But instead of his usual sparkling eyes that you're used to, your heart falls at the sight of his defeated expression.
"Date's cancelled. Thought you'd like to know."
You frown. "What happened?"
"Max took off. Now I gotta track down the little shit and drag her home."
"Well maybe I can help. The sooner we find her, the sooner we can continue on with our night."
Billy weakly grins, hands digging into his pockets. "Our night, huh? Thought you'd be excited to get out of the date."
"What can I say? You've grown on me, Hargrove. Like a fungus."
That earns a chuckle, but still he's not his usual self like he is when you're hanging out. He looks you up and down, trying to figure out exactly what to do here, and he eventually sighs. "If you can stomach me turning on the charm for a few house moms, you got yourself a deal."
"Don't be gross." You step out onto the porch, shutting the door behind you. "I know the boys we usually see her with. I can easily direct you to where she could possibly be."
You brush past Billy, smirking, and hop down the porch stairs. He stomps down the stairs after you, chuckling as you climb into his car as if you belong there.
You first stop at the Henderson residence, you getting off alone. With Billy looking the way he is, you know for sure Ms. Henderson will attempt to keep him as long as possible. Luckily for you she's not really impressed with teen girls and tells you what you want to know right away. That the boys aren't there.
The Sinclair residence proves the boys aren't there either, but you still end up leaving with a smile when Billy gets roasted by the small pre-teen who had answered the door.
You figured it would be safe for Billy to get off at the Wheeler residence since Mrs. Wheeler is married, but you're proven wrong when she answers the door in her bathrobe and Billy's stance shifts. You can hear his flirtatious tone from the passenger seat of his car and have to bite your tongue when she leads him inside. He doesn't even spare you a glance as he follows after her and your heart twinges as he disappears. You're surprised at the sudden jealousy, but manage to remain cool for five minutes.
Eventually, you sigh and lean over towards the steering wheel to slam your hand on the horn. You let it blare for several long seconds before leaning back in your seat with a huff.
Seconds later the front door opens and Billy saunters out. He smirks at you, you flip him off, and then glower at Mrs. Wheeler who's watching with a frown from her door.
Her displeased expression at your appearance is so unwarranted that you're not really surprised your petty side jumps out. So just as Billy reaches the driver's side door, you can't help but slightly lean out the passenger window and shout, "How's the husband doing, Mrs. Wheeler?"
She smiles tightly in response, wraps her robe tighter around herself, lifts a hand in a stiff wave, and then re-enters her home. Billy laughs as he settles into his seat, slamming the door shut behind him. "Really, Y/N? Old lady Wheeler is what gets the jealousy stirring?"
"Fuck off, Hargrove, and drive. You figure out where the kids are yet?"
He smirks and then shrugs as he starts his car. "She said something about the Byers residence."
"Of course she did. Lets go."
The entire ride there Billy teases you about your now obvious dislike for Mrs. Wheeler and no amount of trying to explain why deterred him. You only disliked her because of her obvious flirting with a teenager while being married and not because she was a female flirting with the teenager you just so happened to have a crush on. Nope. Not. At. All.
But the moment you pull into the long driveway leading up to the Byers' house, all of Billy's amusement flees. Your grin falters as your gaze jumps between him and the somewhat familiar car sitting in front of the house, and you sigh. "I know you're pissed, but keep your shit straight. They're still kids, Billy."
His hand tightens on the steering wheel. "That's Harrington's car."
Well fuck. This won't end well.
Billy parks and lets his car idle for a few seconds before cutting the engine. In the silence, he pulls down a cigarette from his visor and lights up. Then placing the stick between his lips, he inhales deeply as the tip of his cig burns bright in the dark. The front door to the house opens and out steps Steve Harrington, and you're quick to exit the passenger side door as Billy angrily exits his side.
"Is that you, Harrington?" He asks, falsely amused.
"Yeah. Don't cream yourself."
You snort as you come to rest against the front end of Billy's car, shrugging when he glares at you and mumbles about you being a traitor. He then turns his attention back to Steve. You listen as they go back and forth, Billy asking about the whereabouts of his little sister and Steve denying having seen her.
Billy continues to call Steve a creep for hanging out with young boys, Steve continues to weakly defend himself, and your attention is dragged towards the house windows when you see the curtain move. Several small heads pop up to peer outside, Max included, and you cringe. You glance at Billy, hoping he hadn't seen, but when the kids all drop you know it was because Billy had seen them. And sure enough, when he points them out and Steve groans, you know the night's just taken a turn for the worse.
Billy stomps past Steve and you push off his car to follow. "Goddammit, Steve, why didn't you just admit to her being here?"
"And let him kill her? No thanks." He says, keeping pace with you.
"Fuck off, Harrington. When you saw me with him, you should have admitted she was here. Do you really think I'd let him hurt her?"
There's a shout, a couple girlish screams, and glass breaking. You swear and rush inside with Steve on your heels, only to run into pure chaos.
Billy threatens Lucas Sinclair and Steve rushes to save him. Steve throws the first punch and the room erupts with screams and shouts for Steve to beat the shit out of Billy. The boys immediately draw blood and instead of shouting at Billy to cool it, because there's no way he'll calm down now, you keep an eye on the other kids. When Billy dazes Steve, he angrily turns back towards Lucas and you rush to jump between them.
"Don't even think about it, Hargrove!" You tell him, hands planted on his chest. "He's a kid." His nostrils flare in anger, but you stand your ground.
Instead Billy focuses on Steve once more and you glance over your shoulder to nod in reassurance at the kids who are staring at you in surprise.
The fight quickly turns brutal and even you join in with the kids, shouting at Billy to stop when he leans over Steve to pummel him. But Billy's not listening to anyone and you're soon distracted by Max when you see her rush towards something on the floor and bend over to pick it up. You see her stare at a syringe now in her hand before she glances at Billy, and when you see the determination in her eyes you move.
"Max, don't!" You lunge towards Billy and shove your hand to shield the side of his neck, crying out when the needle is sloppily shoved deep into your forearm. Your cry draws Billy's attention, every one of the rioting boys quiet down, and Max's eyes widen. You stumble back, empty syringe stuck into your arm, and you hastily pull it out to toss aside. "What the ffuu-" You slur.
"I-I'm sorry!" She stammers. "I didn't mean-
The room swims before your very eyes and you trip over a piece of broken furniture. You flinch at every kid that tries to reach out to steady you, so Billy rushes forward and gently grabs you by the arms. You squeak, but he gently shushes you, and you have to flutter your eyelids just to properly focus your gaze. Staring up at him as he comes into focus, you take note of his worried expression and bleeding nose. "B-Billy?"
He nods before glancing over his shoulder. "Max, what the fuck did you give her?!"
"I-It was a tranquilizer! It was meant for you," she admits. "But she put her arm in the way."
The room spins again and you whine, squeezing your eyes shut. "Make it stop. Please make it stop."
"Guys!" One of the kids shouts. "We don't have time for this. We need to go!"
"Go how? Steve's down for the count," someone else says, "and we don't all fit in his car."
For some reason the tip of Billy's nose catches your attention and you can't help but boop it with a giggle. "Billy's got a car," you muse.
He swats at your hand. "Like hell I'm gonna drive these crotch goblins anywhere."
You poke his chin, giggling when he catches your hand. "Come on, babe. Let's go on an adventure!" You say excitedly right before your world goes dark.
When Y/N's body goes limp, Billy takes her full weight into his arm. He gently taps her cheek. "Y/N? Y/N!" When he gets no answer, he glances up and glares at Max.
She's quick to hold her hands up in surrender. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to drug your girlfriend, but we really do need a ride. It's a life or death situation."
"Max!"
"What? He needs to know, Mike! We're not going to save anyone if we don't find a ride there and we can't exactly steal his car with him still conscious!"
Billy stares down at Y/N, then back at Max. His frustration is at its peak, but with Y/N passed out in his arms there's nothing he can do about it. The annoying kids are all staring at him, sans one who's now helping Steve to his feet, and he groans. "Fine. But you're explaining what the hell is going on, on the way there, Max. And all your little friends are riding in Harrington's car. You're with me and Y/N to make sure she doesn't choke on her own vomit."
"Fine. Whatever."
"Fine. Lets go!"
It's a complete clusterfuck just getting to the cars, the young boys struggling to get Steve moving. He's in no shape to drive, so Billy yells at them to get their shit together and pick a driver. Mike reluctantly gets into the driver's seat as they shove Steve into the back with Lucas and Billy gently shoves Y/N into the backseat of his own car with Max.
As they get on the road, Billy sighs at the shitty driving skills the kid is displaying in front of him, but follows nonetheless.
"Alright. Explain." Billy stares at Max through the rearview mirror and watches as she mentally prepares what she's going to say.
"You're not going to believe me," she starts with. "I didn't believe it until I witnessed some things first hand."
"Max," he grits out. "Tell me."
"Okay, so basically monsters are real," Max blurts. Billy says nothing, but his hands do tighten around the steering wheel. "There was some laboratory in town that was super into child experimentation and one of these experiments had powers that opened up a door to another dimension." Billy scoffs. "It's true," she glares. "A monster escaped and kidnapped Will Byers. They presumed him dead, but he was actually alive. The laboratory faked his death so they didn't have to admit what they were doing, but his mom and Chief Hopper saved him. He's possessed now which is why we're going to an opening we know about to cause a distraction while they save Will and shut the dimension door once and for all."
There's a tense moment of silence before Billy says, "Are you guys stoned? What the fuck, Max?"
She groans. "I told you, you wouldn't believe me!"
"Are you even hearing yourself right now?! What the hell did they drag you into?"
"Billy, I'm telling you the truth." Max meets his stare in the mirror, eyes pleading. "Just please follow them. I need to help and you don't even have to get off the car. We'll do all the work."
"Whatever," he grumbles. "But after all this shit is done and over with, you're gonna be on your best behavior for the next several months. I don't need Neil on my ass about babysitting you anymore."
"Fine. Deal. Whatever."
Billy's annoyed when he has to drive his baby through a goddamn pumpkin patch and then even more annoyed with the rotted smell after they park. The kids and Harrington all readily climb out of the car, and he warns Max to not die because he's not taking the blame for that shit. He watches as they produce swimming goggles, bandanas, ropes, and gloves. Flashlights are handed out, as well as canisters of what he presumes is gasoline.
"What the fuck," he mutters. Sighing, he glances at Y/N still passed out in the backseat and seeing that she's not going anywhere anytime soon he decides to get out of his car. So with his headlights left on and shining towards the same spot Steve left his headlights shining on, Billy gets out and stomps around towards the group. "Yo, dipshits! What the hell are you doing with those gas cans?"
In the midst of tying their makeshift masks around their faces, everyone glances at Billy before staring at Max. She groans and addresses her stepbrother. "It's called the Upside Down- the place where the monsters come from. Their world started leaking into ours and there's an opening over there in the patch," she says while pointing. "We're going to go in and torch it."
Off in the distance there's a roar of an animal that Billy has never heard before. The headlights to the two vehicles flicker before cutting out and flashlights get turned on. But even then the flashlights flicker too.
"If we're going to do this, we're doing it now," Steve says.
Billy follows the group towards the rotted out pumpkin patch and watches them secure a rope before tossing the rest of the length down the hole. One by one they jump down and before Max can take her turn, he grabs her by the arm. "Don't die, dipshit."
She huffs. "Sure thing, asshole."
Steve is the last to go, but before he goes down he looks at Billy. "I'll, uh, I'll keep an eye on her."
"You better, pretty boy. If she gets hurt, I'm coming after you."
Steve's eyes widen before he lowers the ridiculous goggles to shield his eyes and then jumps down. Billy walks over to the ledge, frowning down into the hole. The kids must get further from the entrance because the small beams of light soon disappear and with no way to see he heads back to his car.
As soon as he opens up the driver's side door, Billy yanks the seat forward and climbs into the back with Y/N.
Shifting in your seat, your eyes flutter open and you're momentarily confused with the near darkness that greets you. "Where-" You utter, cutting yourself off and gulping. Your mouth feels a little dry and your tongue feels heavy. "What's going on?"
"Hey. Shh." Turning to the side and squinting, you can make out Billy's features. His hands gently cup your face and you flinch the touch. "It's okay. You're alright."
"Billy?" You let your eyes close, head aching. "Where are we?"
"In the backseat of my car in the middle of some field with rotted pumpkins."
You whimper softly. "The backseat of your car? I told Heather I wouldn't be that girl."
Billy chuckles. "Relax, Princess. You were drugged. I'm not in the business of taking advantage of girls."
"Drugged?" Bits and pieces of earlier that night comes to you and you sit up a little in your seat. "Max was going to stab you!"
"Relax." He tugs you into his side, draping an arm around you and keeping you pressed against him. "Max had her reason for wanting to knock me out. I did a serious number on Harrington back at the house."
Your brow furrows the more you try to recall. You groan quietly and press your face into Billy's chest. "I feel like I should tell you something for fighting, but I'm just so tired."
"Go to sleep, Y/N. You can scold me later."
"Okay. Just one question." He hums and waits for you to continue. "What the fuck are we doing in the middle of a field?"
Billy's sudden laugh startles you and you pinch him in retaliation. "That's a story for when you're less loopy. It's pretty unbelievable and I'm still not sure I believe it myself."
"Okay. If you say so, Bobby."
"Jesus Christ," he sighs. "Go back to sleep."
Tumblr media
You lose track of time over the rest of the weekend, barely keeping yourself focused during phone calls with Billy, Heather, and Jonathan Byers since he was pretty close to the situation going on that led the kids to acting crazy and Max drugging you. Your parents are in and out of your room, but they leave you alone thinking you'd caught a very mild case of the flu.
One morning you wake up to the smell of something cooking and stumble your way out of the room, heading towards the kitchen. You rub at your eyes, yawning and stretching carefully since you're aching in several places, and blink in confusion at the sight of your mom cooking.
"Mom?" You frown. "What are you doing home?"
"Hmm. Oh, honey," she smiles. "Your father pushed his trip back a couple of days to make sure you were feeling well before we left again."
"Oh. Well thanks, but I'm actually feeling pretty good. I'm just really tired," you tell her with yet another yawn. She smiles at you and your gaze is then drawn towards a vase holding three sunflowers. "Dad forget an important day?" You ask. "He rarely buys flowers unless he's in trouble."
Your mom laughs. "No, those are yours. Some young girl brought them over last night and when we told her you were feeling a bit unwell, she said to tell you that she apologizes for ruining your date."
Max. Max had brought you flowers because she had ruined what would have been your first date with Billy. And speaking of Billy, the memories of that night rush to the forefront of your mind and you can't help but smile at how adoringly attentive he had been when you were out of your mind in the backseat of his car. You even remember him driving you home and helping you upstairs before he tucking you into bed while Max had gotten you a glass of water and some Tylenol.
Your mom suddenly clears her throat and at her smug little grin, your cheeks heat up. "Don't make it weird. It's just Billy."
"The boy who's been chasing you for the past several months? That Billy?"
"Yep." You head towards the flowers, delicately running your fingers over them and huffing a short laugh. "That girl that dropped these off is Max, his step sister. She kind of took off without letting their parents know she was leaving and Billy had to search for her."
"Oh. Well it was kind of her to apologize."
"Yeah. Yeah it was." As you're staring at the flowers, it suddenly hits you that you really want to see Billy. Plus it's also a weekday and you should be getting ready for school. "Well I'm gonna go shower and get ready. Don't wanna be late for class."
"Y/N." You turn towards your mom before you can make an escape and she frowns at you. "It's about to be lunch time, sweetheart. You've already missed your morning classes."
"What?" Your heart skips a beat. Looking out the window, you're surprised you hadn't realized just how bright it was. "Crap."
"You slept through your alarm so I figured you weren't feeling well."
"It's- it's fine. I'm just gonna freshen up and make a quick appearance at school."
You're in a rush to get back to your room that you barely hear your mom call out, "Tell Billy I say hello," with laughter lacing her tone.
          ----------
Twenty minutes later you're pulling into the school parking lot with only a handful of minutes left to spare in the lunch period. Billy is easy to spot, a gaggle of his usual fans surrounding the front of his car as Heather sits on the hood next to him and glares at all the simpering messes.
You park nearby, cutting the engine and slamming your door shut as you climb out. Everyone turns to stare at you, but you only have eyes for the smoking moron who pushes himself off his car to stand tall as you approach.
You pass up one car and then two, and then, "Nice house shoes," Steve muses from his perch on Jonathan Byers' car.
"Eat my ass, Harrington." Jonathan snorts and you barely give Steve and his affronted expression a brief grin as Nancy giggles from Jonathan's side.
Continuing on your path towards Billy, a few girls give up upon seeing you and move on while others stand their ground. You have no problem shoving between them all to get to your friend and Billy tosses down his cigarette when he sees you're on a mission.
"Well, well, well. It looks like Sleeping Beauty finally-" You grab him by the lapels of his jean jacket and pull him down so you don't have to tiptoe in order to kiss him. He tenses momentarily and someone wolf whistles, Heather most likely, while others grumble and others mutter slurs beneath their breath before stomping off.
But almost as soon as he tenses, he relaxes and his hands slide down to grip your hips. With his mouth still connected to yours and teeth nipping, Billy turns you and readily lifts you onto the hood of his car as he steps between your knees.
"Goddamn. Finally!" Heather gushes.
Her words manage to pierce through the lustful fog in your brain and you pull back from Billy, laughing. You shake your head at her as she wiggles her eyebrows and swat at Billy's hands as his fingers trail down your thighs.
"Uh, excuse you," someone scoffs. "We were talking."
Heather's smile drops as her gaze immediately darts to the girl who dared speak up and you turn to slowly meet the annoyed girl's stare. You smile. "You're excused, Natalie."
"It's Natasha."
"Did I stutter?" Billy snorts as he leans forward, dropping his forehead on your shoulder. "Move along, Natalie. Your presence is no longer required."
The bell ringing has the crowd slowly dispersing in order to get back to class, but you, Billy, and Heather remain rooted right where you're at.
When the shuffling of feet or petty remarks can no longer be heard, Billy lifts his head. "Not that I'm complaining, but what brought this on?"
"Saturday night was a total shitshow," you say, your hands tugging at the lapels of his jacket before smoothing them down and then sliding around to clasp at the back of his neck, "but something definitely shifted after your step-sister drugged me."
"She did what?!" Heather practically shouts.
Billy chuckles but doesn't say anything and a feeling of uncertainty washes over you. You sigh. "This is weird, isn't it?"
"No. Definitely not," he's quick to reply. "You just caught me off guard, but I'm totally into it."
"Of course you are. You're into anything if it means you're going to get laid."
"Am I?" He asks, right eyebrow raising. "Going to get laid?" He then clarifies.
You roll your eyes. "Maybe. We'll play it by ear."
"Uhh.. excuse me!?" Heather says, gaze ping-ponging between you and Billy. "Is anyone going to explain? Why the hell were you drugged?!"
You and Billy laugh as you meet her surprised expression. "Oh, Heather. There's so much more to Hawkins that we have to teach you."
"But not right now," Billy says. His hands hook beneath your knees as he drags you towards the edge of his car and you readily wrap your legs around his waist as he lifts you up. "Y/N and I are going somewhere quieter to talk."
"Mhm. I'm sure you are." Heather hops off the hood and starts to slowly walk backwards toward the school.
"And you," you say while tossing her your keys, "are going to take my car after school. I'll get it from you later."
"Jesus. If I'd known you would be this nice, I'd have encouraged Billy to get into your pants a lot sooner."
"Eat me, Holloway."
"That's Billy's job, Y/L/N." With that she turns on her heel and skips away.
Billy snorts as he spots your cheeks flaming, but you pinch the side of his neck before pecking his lips and then letting your legs drop so you can stand on your own two feet once more. He chuckles as he watches you walk around to the passenger side of his car and you waste no time settling inside. As he then moves to take his place behind the wheel, you can't help but think about how exhilarating this all is. You've known he was attractive from the moment you saw him, but you made him your friend before pursuing any type of relationship with him.
So now as you sit in his passenger seat like you have been for several months, you can't help but feel a bout of nervousness as he reaches across the seat and offers you his right hand. You grab it and then bite back a giggle as he laces your fingers together.
"So my place or yours?"
"Yours. Definitely yours."

i've got nothing to lose (with you)  🌊 (4.7k)
let's see: eliott and le gang on a mini get-away outside of france, inspired (superficially) by the scottish highlands; this is very much a piece centred on eliott's thoughts and feelings, everything else is secondary.
or, a pining, friends to lovers au
A house on the river with a white chipped window overlooking green valleys of soft-petaled ivory rose caninas fighting for land with the stone brambles and butter-yellow honeysuckle. Within minutes of their arrival, Eliott moved a rusty looking bottle-green desk directly in front of this window, as though compelled from an outside force. The valley demands his undivided attention at a time where the sky is in a perpetual state of change, transitioning from colour to colour as though indiscriminately picking shades on a colour wheel; specks of fuchsia accidentally blending and bleeding into a rust-orange and a startling red, colours which never turn out quite so captivating on a phone camera. Dusk recalls the beauty of the day, unwinding time and caressing the flowers that dare to grow at higher altitudes. Eliott sits there on what once was a rather plush seat, but now torn down the middle so he can feel the wooden foundations beneath him. Admiring the landscape as he cracks open the spine of a new notebook he uncaps a black pen. It hovers there with possibility for a few minutes until Eliott sighs and recaps it resting his face in his hand staring out the white chipped window.
Footsteps echo above him, muffled voices and slamming doors. He tries to find some inspiration within these movements and sounds but all ideas elude him. It’s been like this for the past two months so when Basile mentioned his parents had a little place a channel away he thought it fateful, fortuitous; a change in scenery from the humid city, away from the lungfuls of pollution to the countryside, a different country; a different language and culture — the endless opportunities for observation. He thought nature would spark something, get the ideas storming, the pen flowing, but he’s an empty machine. No feelings he can scratch out on paper or phone despite being told by everyone he’s ever loved that he feels so much. That he is an endless vacuum of emotions. He even bought a stupid notebook when he’s used to writing down ideas on the notes app on his phone. Maybe an alternative medium would strike an unknown area of his brain filled to bursting with worlds unlike his own. But, he’s being hard on himself, they have only been here a day. He has time.
A knock at the door has him looking over his shoulder before glancing once more out the window.
“Hey.” is all he says.
The door creaks at the hinges as footsteps pad towards him. The tips of fingers against his back almost makes him sigh out loud. It’s not a purposeful touch, it’s the simple act of fingers curling round the frame of his chair accidentally grazing his t-shirt, eliciting painful butterflies in his stomach. Eliott has imagined that touch filled with intention and it’s all he can do not to slip his hand over Lucas’, brush his thumb over the skin and tilt his head back to gaze into those eyes. Eliott wraps his arms around his stomach instead, biting down on his bottom lip.
“Nice view.” Lucas comments.
Now this is someone Eliott could have written many a poetry collection about. Forty poems in verse regaling their childhood mischief. Lucas the leader in all their make-believe games from the moment they ate their last spoonful of cereal until the moon was in full bloom, their parents having to threaten their separation for the rest of the holidays if they didn’t climb down from Lucas’ treehouse. He could lament over Lucas’ hair darkening from a dirty blond to a chestnut brown during which first kisses were had, Eliott broke his elbow falling off a skateboard and Lucas was there, leading him aside and letting him cry — insisting that he didn’t think any less of Eliott whose cheeks were flushed and stained with tears, hands clenched into fists from embarrassment. He had cried numerous times in front of Lucas, but this time had an undercurrent to it, a vulnerability marked by the changing of tides and secrets of the night; seeing Lucas began to evoke new sensations he hadn’t felt since his first kiss — a nervousness that had his hands shaking and his stomach turning. Eliott Demaury could craft twenty-one sonnets about this boy’s hands and the journey of emotions he has encountered over the years since his realisation. Though something about it doesn’t feel right, using pen and paper to express these feelings. The sentiments morph, become corrupted and lose their potency. They become the words at the end of a sentence squished in, overlapping each other, and cut off at the end, no room for them. No place for them in his heart. He believes those words are for Lucas. Someday. And only spoken among them are they meant to touch the world.
Lucas’ fingers poke Eliott’s back as he speaks. “I think everyone’s about to eat; Yann’s cooked some spaghetti.”
Dropping his head back to rest on the chair he finally meets that gaze; dark blue eyes inquiring, strands of brown hair brushing a strong nose, and Eliott responds: “Mmm, sounds good.”
Lucas shakes his head in a well, are you coming? gesture and Eliott only nods.
They continue to look at each other, searching for what Eliott knows not, only that they could both do this for years. Oh, it’s not romantic, though the scene has all the players and the setting to forge a wondrous story of fate and destiny, no such eventuality could Eliott lay claim to when it comes to Lucas. Their staring contests are the makings of legends, they could stare for France at the Olympics. That was Lucas' idea when they were twelve, to enter the Guinness Book of World Records. If only Eliott could telepathically communicate his love through his stare, he would be saved from the mortifying ordeal of laying his soul bear for Lucas to potentially stamp on, to do with what he will. The odds were not in his favour.
The next moment Lucas is grabbing him by the wrists tugging him to his feet. “What were you doing?”
A loud sigh. “Trying to write.”
“Ah.” A voice filled with understanding and sympathy.
“Yes.”
“I have no words of encouragement. Knowing you you’ve watched a hundred videos on how to get inspiration so, for now, let’s just have some fun this weekend,” He mines the breaststroke. “If you manage to write something, if only a three word sentence then great. If you don’t well then I’ll have to reset your brain or something.”
“I guess.” He’s feeling a bit dispirited is all.
“It’s the only plan I’ve got so you can either take it or leave it.”
“I’ll take anything you give me.” It’s out before he can stop it and he has no time to freak the hell out or try and amend this faux pas because that’s when they are summoned.
“FOOD IS READY!” bellows a voice from deeper inside the house. Basile.
“Just in time.” Lucas smiles, dragging Eliott along behind him, like he doesn’t trust him to not sit at that desk, staring out the window for the foreseeable evening to come. Eliott is a dreamer after all, it can’t be helped.
All the knowing brings a small smile to Eliott’s lips, Lucas catches it and a laugh bubbles out of his throat his grip tightening on Eliott’s wrist. He wonders if that’s what love is. Knowing. For some people the learning process is what keeps them in love, and for the others who have already mapped out the insides of each other, know them as intimately as they do their own body. What about them? Is it in the relearning? Rediscovering the constellations of their mind, the breadth of their movement and the deepest, most darkest secrets at their core where the imaginary apple tree blooms from all the seeds they dared to swallow as kids.
“Idiot,” Lucas whispers.
“Yeah, you are.” Eliott quips right back.
Lucas shrugs his shoulders, grinning. “Eat your spaghetti, dumbass.”
Eliott acquiesces and brushes his fingers over Lucas’ skin, where they do nothing but slightly graze, just once.
-
The evening brings them around a crowded table covered in an ugly mauve table cloth, five empty glasses holding it in place, and Eliott feels like it’s all a bit biblical. A cornucopia of sorts with the big spaghetti dish in the centre, napkins laid under cutlery, and — yes, lit candle sticks holding court at either end, illuminating the richness of the tomato sauce and the plates precariously positioned near the edges of the table.
“ELIOTT!” Basile yells the instant Lucas and Eliott enter the kitchen slash dining space.
“He made fucking placement cards.” Arthur chortles, shoving one in Lucas’ face, who grabs at it laughing.
Basile looks indignant, his ears flushing pink. He begins shepherding Yann to begin serving their food, refusing to look at the other boys, and Eliott’s heart pangs in his chest even when he knows that Arthur is only taking the piss, he means nothing by it. He can’t but help feel empathy in any given situation, because he was cursed to feel every fucking emotion in the world. He wishes there was an off switch as quick and easy as turning of the light but for your emotions.
And right on cue, “Baz, I’m joking!” Arthur grabs the place card back from Lucas and when Basile doesn’t respond, he looks around at Yann and Lucas for support, like did I misstep that badly?
“I was joking, Baz. Basile. Baz! I’ll do your stupid laundry for the rest of this trip if you open your mouth.”
Baz glares at Arthur while opening his mouth into an o shape.
“What the fuck.” he falls to his knees at Baz’s feet and throws his hands over his heart in mock anguish.
“That’s only two days.”
Relief spreads over Arthur’s face. “You prick. And for the next five days when we’re back home.”
Baz smiles. “Okay.” Just before Arthur wraps his arm around Baz's neck, roughing up his head and causing Basile to shout his head off like an idiot.
Yann and Lucas exchange an amused look as they take their assigned seats at the table. Eliott slides into his seat, taking the proffered orange juice from Baz and sighing quietly as the cool liquid hits the back of his throat.
Beers are passed around, spaghetti is ladled into ceramic bowls and bellies are satiated. It only takes five minutes before the toasts begin — it’s a slight downgrade from Shakespeare, but Eliott isn’t the biggest fan of his works anyway. These monologues do not bore him to tears, they manage the feat of the opposite; a well of innocence and love and disaster (in the best way) — and Eliott can feel his stomach cramping from the laughter to come. Baz’s excitement is an energy source of its own, powering up each boy in turn and only encouraged more by the alcohol in their veins. He thanks them for coming, his curls bouncing as he hugs each of them and kisses their temples in turn, giving a special wink to Eliott. This prompts Lucas to raise his eyebrows and air kiss Eliott in jest; Yann clutches his heart and narrows his eyes at Lucas in betrayal. But the real jester is Eliott’s heart, making a mockery of him.
-
There is something about the sun glistening on the water, the sparkles of light suggesting an underworld, and the heat and the tender breeze which fosters an exuberant vitality among these boys. Jumping into the rushing water like the rocks within aren’t sharp as nails, as fierce and demanding as deities demanding human blood. Embracing the camaraderie that comes from being complete idiots and living to tell the tale. Defying the ancient gods. Eliott has noticed his regard for his own life has drastically lowered since his acquaintance with Lucas’ school friends; they are wild and high-spirited that when their energies are fused together you have never seen a more brazen display of the human idiocy. Eliott came to the conclusion upon their second meeting that they share a single brain cell between them, no more no less. Their presence demands he shed his insecurities and feelings of inadequacy, that he be instead audacious so sometimes he finds himself retreating and requiring a few moments by himself just so he can keep up, reset and recharge.
Watching the other four attempt to kayak down the river, watching Lucas rub a hand across his throat where a collection of moles stand out against his tan skin has Eliott feeling some type of way. A nostalgia clings to him, the echoes of childhood innocence — running around with paint-stained hands intertwined, breaking the last cookie in half because they couldn't bear the thought of not experiencing every delicious moment of life together with the one person who they could just be with. The one who made them want to be bold. A time before feelings were made complicated and repressive by adult sensibilities and expectations. It’s a nostalgia breeding a melancholy Eliott feels too young to be unraveled by, because he is so very lucky to even be known quite this intimately by a person; it gives rise to a loneliness he feels no right to. He has to look away from Lucas before he gasps out loud because it will be obvious then. And he doesn’t know what he’d do if he was found out, because that’s the scary thing. He already made a mistake yesterday. He cannot give up now. He’s been good so far. Acted the performance of his life. He’s an artist. A master of repression.
But now he is in danger, at the precipice of possibility, because the way Lucas has been looking at him when he thinks Eliott isn’t looking; the tilt of his head, the softening of his brow and that gentle smile without any mischief behind it is simultaneously tearing at Eliott’s heart but also the last image he would want to see before closing his eyes forever. He doesn’t know when exactly it happened but he lost control somewhere along the way; in between the little moments when he lets himself dream, giving the reins of control over to his hapless thoughts filled with impossibilities and infatuation. Beneath the sheets of his bed where he can exist as he is. A multitude of muscles and tissue, blood and bones sinking into the safety of the mattress as his mind is whisked away by a boy sprinkling him in fairy dust and offering him the chance to fly.
It’s catching up to him now, he can feel it rising. A tidal wave promising to consume him, reveal him. His skin is sticky from the sun, it feels too tight. His throat is aching, a sob threatens to betray him. He wants to scratch at his throat to relieve the pressure; he needs to scream until he can no longer produce sound. Until he is an empty vessel incapable of such visceral emotion. He wants to tear out his hair. This loneliness so rapidly evolving into a creature of frustration, of anger. How haven’t they noticed? How can’t they see this volatile species among them? Can’t they feel the very toxicity in the air?
Eliott hits the surface of the lake hard. The initial pain of impact, welcome — a moment of distraction as he is plunged deep into the open arms of the biting cold and opens his jaw to let loose this beast of rage. Furious with himself for being so completely selfish, for having allowed this self-pity to threaten a friendship he would sell his soul to save, to keep forever close to his chest. To that organ known to most animals and at the centre of some of the most tragic and romantic sonnets found in between must-smelling pages and on the rough skin of ageing humans. Though not all the words are without detrimental consequences, Eliott feels like a letter on the verge of changing the entire meaning of a sentence. The power in his hands to rewrite the narrative so he can finally have what he has been waiting for for years. But nothing is without consequences.
Sometimes Eliott thinks about how life is made up of doing things you don’t want to do with small moments of reprieve in and amongst the mess, the stress, finding the will to carry on. The reality is that he doesn’t want to tell Lucas. He really doesn’t. He has contented himself with admiring from afar. Until it gets to be too much. He would rather know him in this way, as a friend, till his last breath than compromise a relationship that has given him more than he deserves, more than he has ever been able to give back. A bond that sets his blood racing, his heart soaring and his body an ardent vivacity of courage and pure, uncorrupted joy. Like a river discovered on a blisteringly hot day, where your fingers have swollen up in the clutch of the silver rings you wear and you want to strip off every piece of clothing clinging to your sweaty skin and it’s that instant relief, that feeling that you could live in the water forever. Your hair soaked and plastered to your neck and the sun that was only seconds ago unforgivably hot is now a blissful pleasure against wet skin. Lucas is solace in a world that too often demands him to not be himself. To just be okay at its call.
Here’s a not quite secret: Lucas knows.
Floating to the surface, his back to the sun, Eliott folds his limbs inwards as the pressure for oxygen begins to sing in his veins. Calling him back to the present to face the world he has made. The first breath is purely human instinctual relief at the intake of a luscious breath of air. The second slows his heart down a fraction. The third is coincides with a minor skip of a heart beat as Elliott shoves wet hair from his watery eyes and sees lean muscled shoulders. Get the fuck together, Eliott. He pushes himself out of the water and it’s as though he wasn’t listening before, as though his thoughts blocked the functionality of his ears, because as soon as he leaves the water laughter pierces the air, cut short when Eliott flops down beside Yann.
Yann immediately reveals that Lucas has an idea, and Eliott’s groan is an automatic response, he throws an arm over his eyes, closing them against the sun.
“So Lucas was thinking—”
“—I was thinking we should race down that hill—”
“—You mean mountain.”
Lucas scoffs. “It’s hardly a mountain.”
“No thanks, I’m cool. You guys can though. I’ll chill here.”
Eliott’s bent knee collapses to the floor as Lucas kicks at his leg. “What?” he asks, annoyed.
“I’ll do it if you do it.”
“Ha, yeah right.”
“I promise. Eliott, I swear I’ll do it.”
“And where has trusting your word ever got me, Lallemant?”
Lucas rolls his eyes. “Pinky promise?”
Eliott laughs.
“Spit shake.”
That’s basically kissing is Eliott’s first thought. “No thanks.”
“You’re acting like you don’t trust me.”
“I literally do not trust you.”
At Lucas’ hurt expression Eliott feels more defensive than guilty like he normally would. He’s tired of this day. He wants to sleep for twelve hours straight.
“It’s a fucking mountain. I don’t want to die.” he gestures emphatically to the mountain. Arguably, the distance is not far but Eliott’s not the biggest fan of running at such a steep, vertical angle. Knowing him, he would twist his ankle and break an arm versus the rather athletic Lucas and Yann, co-captains of a baseball team. “I have a headache.” he adds, not looking at either boys’ face.
Closing his eyes once more and longing for the privacy of the river; the secrets beneath the rolling surface of the azure water, conversation becomes muffled as Eliott finds his stasis. Lolled by the constant rush of water, Eliott is ignorant to his environment, though not frightened when his vision turns from a burning blood-red to a muted orange. He blinks an eye open and Lucas is there, a slight furrow in his brow, his lips a firm line.
He whispers, “You okay? We’re gonna be over there.”
Eliott nods.
“Okay.” Lucas brushes one hand through the hair framing Eliott’s hair, his long, callused fingers moving carefully. He finishes with a pinch of Eliott’s chin and sprints away, Eliott assumes, after Yann.
What if he let it all go? What if he let himself look at Lucas and touch his hand? Could he do it without having to justify it to himself and the world?
-
Lucas’ bedroom sits two doors down from Eliott’s at the end of the hall. It has a white door with blue accents like every other door in this house and it’s slightly open. It’s a sign Eliott decides because he needs one to do this. He needs every last ounce of courage available to him because everything is about to change. Whether it is small or life-shaking, and he doesn’t have to do this. But he does.
One step. He watches his foot take the next and next and three more until he is two steps away from being seen. That is if Lucas is on his bed, but if he’s only the other side of the room, then Eliott has more time to second guess this endeavour. He doesn’t know which to wish for. He is one step away and no Lucas. A breath out, his stomach clenches. Okay.
Walking into the room with all the confidence he doesn’t possess, Eliott bounces onto Lucas’ bed  and leans up against the wall, and there the other boy is reading a book for school in a wooden rocking chair by a dusty looking mirror, half concealed by a brown throw. Meanwhile Eliott is being sucked in by the loveliest mattress his butt has ever had the pleasure to rest on. The duvet smells like Lucas.
“Fuck, this bed is so much bigger than mine.” he announces, shuffling down onto his back.
Lucas wiggles his eyebrows. “Lots of star fishing has happened there.”
“I bet.”
He has made it this far. Maybe with Lucas engrossed in his book it will be easier. The first part anyway, because he has no doubt Lucas will either try to avoid eye contact all together or shut the conversation down within seconds because he doesn’t like Eliott in that way.
“I like you.” Eliott clarifies. His throat tightening. He can’t believe he said it, he’s not known for being the most loquacious about his feelings. Despite being sensitive and greatly empathic, this does not extend to how he treats himself. Vocalising his turmoil is new and uncomfortable; he doesn’t feel like he can breath better, there’s not relief in it. He counts to ten and tilts his head up to examine Lucas who is staring intently at his book, his face a mirror of shock and fear. But Eliott’s not exactly sure if it is shock at his love or the act of the revelation itself.
Lucas clears his throat. “I don’t want things to change,” closing his book around his finger to hold his page, he licks his lips as his shoulders curl in slightly. Eliott is a hurricane, wrecking devastation and warning signs are blaring in his head to get out, get out, get out! “I do know that I like you.” And then all is quiet in his mind as he lowers his head back to the mattress. He doesn’t know what to do with his hands; folding them behind his head then across his stomach, the puzzle pieces not fitting. His stomach is clenched in preparation for a fall, for someone to jump out with a camera and say he’s been punked, for Lucas to bust out laughing and divulge his prank to the boys. He was expecting rejection so this is new and he can’t quite believe it. This isn’t going according to plan. Lucas isn’t supposed to say I like you. What the hell is happening.
Sitting up, Eliott can feel his face tightening and he’s confused as he gets to his feet, drifting towards Lucas’ bedroom door like a lone breeze. The light catches Lucas’ hair, lightening the tips to a golden brown and Eliott’s heart is in his throat, his jaw clenching he needs out of this space. He’s almost out the door but Lucas has somehow slipped in front of him, framed in the doorway and he fills the frustration building up.
“Hey.” Lucas’ voice is soft as he searches Eliott’s face, taking in his fists at his sides and the pronounced jaw line. He reaches up and rubs gentle circles just beneath Eliott’s ear; taking one of his fists in his own hands, he runs a callused finger over knuckles and under to where fingers are curled inwards. Lucas is not met with resistance because Eliott’s fingers unfurl and Lucas is slotting his own in between and Eliott is losing his breath, it’s been stolen, he can’t get it back and his eyes are near to welling up.
They drift towards the bed, Eliott floating, not registering any physical movements beyond their intertwined fingers, the soft pressure of Lucas grip on his own hand is a masterpiece. He is sitting down, in the middle of the bed and Lucas is sitting on his knees on top of the blankets, their hands hang in the space between them.
“How about this,” Lucas says, decisively, his gaze drifting from their hands. He shifts forward moving closer to Eliott, “We try. We don’t force anything. If it doesn’t feel right we stop, because I don’t want to lose you as a friend, Eliott. Fuck, that’s what terrifies me most. But I think we would both regret it if we didn’t try and I really fucking want to. Eliott?”
Right, he needs to speak. Say something. He shifts closer to Lucas, not quite believing what he’s hearing. Unlacing their hands he brushes his free hand through Lucas’ hair before pulling him in for a hug. Breathing in his scent which is tangy from the citrusy soap they’ve all been using, but the underlying cedar-wood, jasmine and toothpaste is there and it feels like safety. “You like me, too?” his voice is low.
Lucas’ laughter vibrates against his chest bringing a smile to Eliott’s lips, he pulls back and pecks Lucas’ forehead before returning his face to his neck and Lucas tightens his hold. And he swears he hears him say so much. Eliott knows he is in love, but this is enough for now. He would broach that later on. This he would trade for anything. The feel of Lucas in his arms, their chests pressed against each other, the feeling of Lucas’ plush lips against his neck and the warm feeling in his stomach. He is in elated shock and nothing can touch them, they have fallen into their pocket of space and time, they are safe.
“How are you this warm?” Eliott wonders aloud, pulling back from the hug, his eyes darting to Lucas’ lips. “Can I kiss you, Lallemant?”
Lucas reclaims the space between them, securing his ankles behind Eliott’s back, he quirks an eyebrow and presses his lips together. Eliott is bewitched by those lips. What secrets and answers do they hold? Are they as soft as they appear?
“Okay.”
And Lucas is leaning forward, his eyes flickering from Eliott’s eyes to his lips and back again, he brushes his nose up the side of Eliott’s and back down again. His eyes lock on Eliott’s blue fading into a lighter blue-grey. Eliott can’t help but brush the tips of their noses, then he slants his mouth upwards, tipping his chin and this is new, because whenever he imagined them kissing, him kissing Lucas, he was always leaning downwards because of their heights, but here Lucas is sitting in his lap with this lips hovering just millimetres above his own and it’s everything he has ever wanted. The second brush of their lips is lost completely to the thunderous sensations of the first and it’s vertigo from here on out.
