A scene that will only be referenced in the next chapter, but I was overcome with the urge to write it out anyway:
Boil catches Stitch's entry onto the bridge out of the corner of his eye.
He elbows Waxer, grinning. The kid's got a pair of crutches under one arm, and they'd both noticed the way the Commander had been leaning on the holotable, stubbornly ignoring the General's not-so-subtle disapproving look and the chair Waxer had fruitlessly nudged into place behind him.
This is going to be a show.
Stitch scans the bridge, eyes narrowed, until he catches sight of the Commander. He walks forward, stopping a few respectful feet behind him, and--
waits.
Thirty seconds pass.
Then a minute.
More and more eyes are landing on him. Poorly-muffled giggling blooms across the bridge.
"Hi, Stitch," Waxer says cheerfully.
"Hi, sir," Stitch says politely, his gaze flickering sideways in acknowledgement before returning to Cody's back.
Cody's shoulders slump.
Eventually, the holocall ends. General Kenobi is the first to turn around.
"Hello, Stitch," he says, smiling faintly. "Can I help you?"
"No thank you, sir. I'm waiting for the Commander, sir."
There's only so long Cody can avoid turning around, and he knows it. With a long, deep sigh, he turns.
"Hi, sir," Stitch says brightly, and thrusts the crutches forward. "You forgot these."
"Those aren't mine," Cody says immediately. "I left mine in my office. I'll grab them after."
"These are yours," Stitch says patiently. "I put a sticker on them when Helix first gave them to you. See?"
He points. Cody leans forward, searching despite himself--
His expression flattens out.
"It's a lightsaber," Stitch says helpfully. "Needle made it. He said you'd forgotten your crutches before, and I thought a sticker would be helpful for you to remember which are yours. Helix says taking initiative is a good thing."
"I... see."
He still doesn't take them.
Stitch sighs. "Is this because Helix yelled at you for kicking droids again, and you don't want to prove him right?"
"No," Cody grinds out, and Waxer muffles a wheezing laugh in Boil's shoulder. General Kenobi's expression is carefully blank.
"Is it because--"
"They're uncomfortable," Cody sighs. He lowers his voice, conscious of their delighted audience, and there's a ripple of coughing and clearing of throats as people turn back to their assigned tasks. "They-- my shoulders keep cramping. I need to be able to fire a blaster, Stitch. I'm minimizing my movement as much as possible, I promise."
"Uncomfortable," Stitch echos, looking baffled. "Why didn't you say so, sir? Give me-- ten minutes, please. I can fix that. I'll be back soon. Can you sit down in the meantime, please?"
"I'll make sure he does, Stitch," the General interjects, and Stitch nods seriously.
"Thank you, sir," he says, and nods at them both before vanishing out the door.
"You're enjoying this far too much, sir," Cody hisses, as Kenobi carefully helps him settle into the long-ignored chair.
"My dear Commander," Kenobi says, laughing, "I'm simply glad it's not me this time."
Cody's glare could incinerate a Hutt. The General remains cheerfully unaffected.
When Stitch returns, he brings with him a painstakingly adjusted pair of crutches. Layers of cotton batting is tied carefully to the pads, and the grips have been adjusted a few levels upwards.
"Try these, please," he says, handing them over.
Cody reluctantly accepts them. "All right. Later, when I--"
Stitch is looking at him very expectantly.
He sighs. "Yes, Stitch."
He levers himself to his feet and takes a few halting steps. Boil watches, fascinated, as astonishment flickers across his expression before it settles into a quiet resignation.
"This-- is better," he mutters. "Very much so."
Stitch beams. "Thank you, sir! And you'll make sure to use them until you're cleared?"
"Yes, Stitch."
"And you won't forget about your follow-up tomorrow? You can have a juice box. Or a pudding cup. You can choose. Needle got some."
Waxer coos. Cody glares at him.
("That's KP duty for you," Boil whispers. "Just you wait.")
"I won't, Stitch."
"Good. Thank you, sir. And- Helix told me to tell you that you- that you're lucky you got me and not him, sir, because he'd be, um- a damn sight louder, sir, because he's got no patience for- for idiots, sir."
A beat.
"That's from him, sir," Stitch repeats anxiously.
Cody sighs. "That's all right, Stitch. Well done."
Stitch brightens immediately, rocking back on his heels. "I'll save you a chocolate pudding cup, sir, if you like. Those ones are the best, so they tend to go fast."
A smile flickers across Cody's face. "Thank you. I'd appreciate it. You're dismissed."
Stitch salutes-- shiny little tubie, small gods-- and vanishes out the door.
Kenobi has given up the game entirely, now, and is grinning broadly. Cody turns on him immediately.
"Stop that."
"Stop what, my dear?"
"The thing you're doing with your face."
"Smiling?"
"Smugly. Yes."
"I'm just pleased with our medics' professionalism, Commander."
"I've got two dozen witnesses to that for the next time you try to dodge them."
"Noted. Can I have your pudding cup?"
"No."

We didn't intend on reconnecting. It was a complete accident. A coincidence, even. We were both out with our friends at the same bar. It had been months since we broke up, and it was one of my first outings post-break up. Despite the fact that the relationship hadn't ended poorly, it was still hard to process. I spent a lot of nights crying to rom-coms with my friends afterwards.
I didn't expect to see him there. Actually, for once, I had fully forgotten that Joseph even existed. I was just excited to be out for the night, to have a good time with my friends.
It wasn't even me who saw him first. One of my friends, Fiona, who is incredibly sweet but also incredibly lightweight, gasped and leaned towards me to ask, "Isn't that Joseph?!"
Lynn, my best friend, elbowed Fiona as I whipped around to see where she had been looking. As she said, there he was - the beautiful, chocolate button eyed man I had been in love with for so long. He hadn't seen me yet. He was at the bar with a few of his friends, sat around and chatting. My heart started to pound as I turned back to my friends.
"Do you want to leave?" Lynn asked.
"No," I said. "I let him keep me from having fun for long enough. I'll just...avoid him as much as I can. Maybe he'll do the same if he sees me."
Lynn gave me a skeptical look, but decided to respect my wishes.
For the most part, the plan was a success. The girls and I moved to the dance floor once we all had enough drinks in us, and Joseph became a distant after thought.
That was, until I stumbled off the dance floor to get myself some water. I could tell that the alcohol was starting to get to me in a way that I would regret in the morning if I didn't try to sober up a little bit. I pushed through the crowd at the bar and asked the bartender for an ice water. I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings as I waited, until I heard a familiar voice say, "(Y/N)?"
That voice sobered me up better than any water could.
I turned to see Joseph stood basically right next to me. He looked as shocked as I felt. I opened my mouth to say something, but nothing came out. Luckily, the bartender gave me my water, so I used that as an excuse to try and get away.
"Wait!" Joseph said, reaching out to grab hold of my arm. He quickly let go just as soon as he grabbed me. "Sorry. I just...I didn't expect to see you."
"I didn't expect to see you, either," I said.
"Are you...here with anyone?"
I knew what his question meant, and I was a little surprised to hear him ask. "Just my friends. Lynn and the girls."
Is that relief I see on his face?"
"I'm here with the guys," he said, gesturing over his shoulder towards his friends. "I just got home from filming, they wanted to celebrate me being back."
"Aren't you tired from being away filming for so long?"
Joseph sighed, as if me asking him that lifted a weight off of his chest. "I'm so tired. I had such a long flight, too, but the lads wanted to go out right away because they're all busy the next few days."
"How long are you in town for?"
"Indefinitely. I have nothing else lined up right now until I have to do promo for A Quiet Place: Day One."
Why did I ask that? He's going to think I want to see him while he's home. I can't see him. We're broken up, I've mourned this relationship and let it go.
But have I? If I had, why did I ask him how long he's in town for? Why am I still here talking to him when I'm sure he would let me walk away if I tried to.
"It's good to see you," he said.
"It's good to see you, too," I said. I was surprised to find that I meant it, too.
We both stood in silence for a moment. I knew I should walk away, just end this whole interaction and go out separate ways. But my feet just wouldn't move. I just stood there, looking at him, every good memory I had from our year long relationship running through my mind. Despite my attempts to try to move on from our relationship the last few months, I was suddenly overwhelmed with a desire to pull him in and kiss him.
"Can we meet up while I'm home?" he asked. "Just...talk about things?"
Bad idea! Do not say yes!
"Yeah, okay," I responded.
Stupid!
His eyes lit up. "Okay. Um, do you have the same phone number?"
I nodded, unable to form the one word response. He still had my phone number? I thought he would've deleted it, considering he was the one who ended our relationship. I still had his, but only due to the fact that I had memorized it. Lynn deleted his number from my phone, but I never told her I had added it back in about a week later after a particularly hard night.
"I'll text you tomorrow, yeah?"
I nodded again. He smiled and reached out as if he were going to hug me. He hesitated, so I closed gap instead, grateful for the contact.
I thought he wouldn't remember, so I didn't bring it up to my friends. I didn't even tell them that I had been talking to him. I figured it was just one time, one night of momentary happiness, before I fell back into the sea of despair over my ended relationship.
So, imagine my surprise when I got a text message the next morning that read, "hey, i understand if you changed your mind, but that offer to meet up is still open."
As you can probably imagine, Lynn wasn't happy when I told her.
"You what?!"
I winced. "I didn't think he'd remember! It was late enough into the night that I figured he was a few drinks deep, and by the morning he wouldn't remember even seeing me."
"So you're not actually going to see him, right?"
I looked down at my lap, unable to look her in the eye.
Lynn groaned, "(Y/N)..."
"I know, I know. It's a bad idea to go."
"It's a terrible idea! You're still trying to get over your breakup. Going to meet up with him is just going to open old wounds."
She was right, and I hated that she was right. I had this sliver of hope that maybe meeting up with Joseph would result in us rekindling our relationship, but I knew that was unlikely. Joseph had broken up with me months ago because of how quickly his career had suddenly taken off after Stranger Things. It was like he went from a low profile actor to one of the most sought after actors. First it was Hoard, which was filmed right after Stranger Things. Then he was cast in A Quiet Place: Day One, which was an insanely big deal. And then right after that was Gladiator 2, an even bigger deal.
Between filming and press tours, I knew I wasn't going to see Joseph very often. That revelation hurt, but I knew he was happy, and if he was happy then I was happy. I would push through the long nights of missing him, the mornings waking up and wishing he was in bed next to me, the lonely feeling in the pit of my stomach. All of it was worth it to see him thrive.
But, Joseph didn't see things the same way, apparently. Because, just before he left to film A Quiet Place: Day One, he sat me down and told me he thought it would be best for me if we broke up.
"I don't want you to always be waiting for me," he had said. "You deserve to be happy with someone who will always be around and can give you everything you want. And, with the way my career is going right now, I don't think I can be that person for you."
As much as I wanted this meeting to end with us getting back together, I knew it was highly unlikely that Joseph would've changed his mind. It had only been months, and he still had so much on his plate. Just because he was home now until he had to leave and do more promo didn't mean he suddenly was no longer busy.
Lynn was right, I shouldn't go to the meeting. It was a bad idea. But, at the same time, I couldn't bring myself to cancel it.
So, that's how I found myself in the coffee shop where Joseph and I had our first date, waiting for him to show up. I wondered if he had intentionally picked this place for us to meet, or if it had been a coincidence.
I wasn't sure which option would hurt less.
I looked up as the bell over the front door chimed, and the familiar face of the love of my life looked around the room. When his eyes landed on me, he smiled and made his way over to where I was sitting.
"Hey," he said as he slid into the booth across from me. "You're early."
"I wanted to make sure I got us a spot to sit. I expected it to be busier here today."
It was a Sunday afternoon, which I figured would be prime time for a coffee shop to be busy. Besides Joseph and I, there was only one other person in the place - someone who was typing away at a laptop a few tables over.
"I got you a coffee," I told him as I slid the cup towards him. "Your usual."
He beamed at me. "You remembered."
"It hasn't been that long since I was making you your usual," I reminded him.
He nodded and looked down at the cup in front of him. An awkward tension filled the air. I wondered if what I said was wrong. Should I have brought up our relationship? Were we going to pretend we hadn't dated for a year? That we hadn't talked about marriage and planning our futures together in that year?
"There's so much I wish I could take back," Joseph said, finally. "I wish I hadn't...I wish I hadn't been so stupid all those months ago."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
He sighed, the air from his mouth disrupting the steady flow of steam coming from his coffee. "I thought I was doing right by you by ending our relationship before my career got so hectic. I thought...I thought it would've been better for you if you could be with somebody who didn't have to be away for long periods of time and leave you by yourself."
"That wasn't really something for you to decide, though," I pointed out. "Not without talking to me first."
"I know."
"You just ended our relationship out of nowhere. I thought everything had been fine, and then suddenly..." I trailed off, feeling a lump form in my throat as I remembered that day months ago. I shook my head, trying to hold back any tears. "It was like the whole issue wasn't even up for discussion. You had decided we were over, that was it. The end."
"I know," he repeated. "And, God, do I ever feel like such a fucking idiot because of it."
"Good. You should, because you were an idiot."
I didn't say it maliciously, and luckily Joseph picked up on that. He chuckled. "Yeah, I was a massive idiot."
There was another moment of silence. I raised my coffee cup to my lips, blowing on it a little before taking a sip.
"I don't suppose there's any chance at trying to start over?"
The coffee slipped down my throat the wrong way as I reacted to his question. I quickly put the cup down and coughed up the hot liquid. The person a few tables over looked at us, interested but uncaring, before turning back to her laptop.
"Are you okay?" Joseph asked, a light chuckle in his voice.
"You couldn't have waited until after I swallowed to ask that?" I retorted.
"Okay, maybe that was bad on my part, you're right."
Once I had finally finished my coughing fit, I cleared my throat and sat up straighter to look at him.
"Are you serious?" I asked him.
"About starting over?" I nodded. "I am serious. (Y/N), you have to believe me when I say these last few months have been hell for me, too. I missed hearing your voice every day, or seeing your texts come in. When I got word that I was coming home for an indefinite period of time, I almost called you to tell you on instinct. I made the biggest mistake by breaking up with you. I know that will never go away and it will likely always be something that hangs over us, but I would do anything to prove to you how much I do still love you."
I was so sure I was dreaming. There was no way this was real. This was exactly what I had wanted to happen, so surely it must've been a dream, right?
But the burning in my chest from swallowing hot coffee the wrong way told me I wasn't dreaming. Joseph was actually here, sat across from me and looking at me with those big brown eyes that I loved so much, asking me if we could try to start over in our relationship. Obviously, I wanted to throw my arms around him and kiss him and tell him that of course I wanted to get back together with him. This was all I had wanted for months since we broke up. But, the more rational part of me (the part that sounded like Lynn, actually) told me not to go there just yet.
"You really hurt me, Joseph," I reminded him.
"I know I did. I know I'm sorry isn't enough, but I am so sorry for doing what I did to you."
"If we are giving this relationship another shot, then you have to promise me that you will talk to me about this stuff before you make big decisions like that. I understand that you were trying to think of me in that moment, but if you had talked to me before deciding to just break up with me, I would've told you that I wanted to be with you even if I don't get to see you for long periods of time. I was so happy for you to be getting those roles, Joe. I was excited to hear the stories from sets and to get to watch you grow. The feeling of loneliness was a very small price to pay if it meant getting to see you be happy."
He looked away from me again. "I guess...I didn't really think of it that way."
"Because you were being an idiot."
He smiled. "Yeah, I was."
"A colossal idiot."
"A mega idiot."
"A mega, colossal idiot."
We both laughed then. Joseph's hand started to reach out towards me, but then he hesitated. I reached out the rest of the way and intertwined my fingers with his.
"Will you give me another shot, (Y/N)?" he asked again. "I promise I will never be such a mega, colossal idiot again."
I nodded. "Of course I'll give you another shot."
His entire face lit up with happiness. He squeezed my hand before tugging on it, pulling me a little closer as he leaned over the table to kiss me. It was only a quick peck, like he was testing the waters, but it was all I needed. It was what I had been wanting for so long now, just to feel his lips against mine again.
When he sat back, his hand still in mind, I gave it another squeeze and asked, "Are you allowed to tell me any stories from A Quiet Place? Or is it all top secret, hush hush?"
He smiled. "You know I'd tell you anything, even if it was top secret."
And just like that, we fell back into a usual routine. It was as if the last few months apart had never happened. And I was more than happy to forget it had.

Idk if this makes sense but thoughts on ceo Kai parker with assistant reader???
are you ready for my longest response to an ask yet? because here it is...
so i'm currently working on a bonkai with a workplace AU that i've admittedly forgotten about that was requested in october. but working on that gave me inspo for this... and then i took it in a whole 'nother direction
fluff & smut below!
this could go 2 ways (or it could include both)
we've got the one where he's super sweet on her.
or we have him teasing & being super sexual until she gives in.
we also have possibilities for the reader to be more shy or more confident, and that majorly changes things.
kai will be kai no matter what, but there will be variation in how he reacts to her.
if she's more shy, i think he'd be a lot more teasing with her. gentle, bc he doesn't want to scare her off, but definitely pushes sometimes.
if she's more confident, he would be taken aback (and definitely turned on) from that. he recognizes that she won't take shit from anyone & respects that about her.
with the shy reader, her co-workers sometimes do try to take advantage of her, but he snaps back at them & checks on her after.
shy reader
he instantly has a liking towards you.
you're quiet and respectful, but do your job well.
you do things in a timely manner & treat others appropriately.
going above and beyond to make his job easier.
kai, at first, doesn't want to overstep your boundaries.
he's gentle towards you & thankful for your hard work. is very appreciative.
calls you names like "darling," and "sweetheart," or even "peach," that always make you blush.
he means it as innocently as you receive it.
… at first.
with time, feelings grow.
you both push them down to maintain a professional work environment, and even go as far as to deny they are there at all.
there's talk in the office, but no one is bold enough to mention it. plus, there's no proof of anything between you guys.
hold on, i have a side story for this, since it's december, and this just sounds so cute to me.
okay so kai has a holiday party he has to attend, but no one close enough in his life to bring as a plus one.
his mother demands he brings someone, and if he doesn't, she'll set him up with her best friend's daughter.
kai doesn't want to get stuck in that awkward situation, so right before break, he asks a huge, huge favor of you.
"i'm, uh, not quite sure how to ask this, y/n, but i have a huge favor to ask of you."
"anything you need."
"it's okay to say no, i completely understand if you don't want to, it's totally your choice."
you giggle, closing your eyes, and his heart races. "i'm sure it's fine."
he grimaces, "would you mind accompanying me as my plus one to a holiday party? it's on the 23rd and local, only about thirty minutes away. it's just between friends and family, but if i don't have a plus one, my mother will set me up…. i just… actually, this is, i shouldn't have asked. i'm sorry, y/n."
you're surprised at first, a little confused, but not ready to reject the offer. your boss begins to ramble about how inappropriate it was of him to ask, and while he may be right, you don't want him to be in such a situation with his mother. you know how family can be.
"sure, i'll go with you."
"i'm- wait, what?"
"if the offer still stands, i'll be happy to go."
he stops. "you're positive?"
"just give me the time and place."
kai does more than that. when he tells you the dress code (relatively fancy), he offers to buy you a dress, but you say you already have one. he then picks you up at your apartment and immediately compliments the dress you wear. he notices your eyes, and how well your makeup compliments their color. his eyes linger on your lips, bold with a shade of red. he tries not to look at your body, but sneaks a glance that you totally catch.
he insists on driving you to the event, and gives you a rundown on the attendees on the way. those in his family who are crazy and that you should avoid, those to whom he's closest, those who have a weak understanding of personal space, and those who will not come within six feet of an unknown person. he tells you about his favorite cousin and the questions he may ask. he prepares a speech about you being his assistant, and not a girlfriend. you practice this speech together, bouncing off one another, about when you started, what you do, and how appreciative he is of your help.
you expect his mother to be stern and strict, but when you meet her, she turns out to be a very sweet lady, despite her high expectations for her family.
she's clearly not convinced that you're a work friend / assistant and not his girlfriend, and no one in his family is convinced, either.
he takes you around the house, introducing you to the necessary people, but never lingers in any one group for long. he knows you're shy and this must be difficult.
after you finish introductions, he pulls you into the garage to check on you.
"doing alright, darling? i know my family is huge. just take a moment to breathe."
you're thankful for this, and hold his hands while taking deep breaths.
after you settle, he promises food and brings you to the snack table.
there's no judgement about how much you eat; no one comments about you eating too much or too little.
alcohol is offered, and you grab a drink only to calm your nerves. he drinks one to "tolerate family" but promises it won't affect his driving later that night. promises, right there, to keep you safe. you believe him completely.
after snacking for a while (and being thankful it's not a sit down dinner), you go back to talking with his family.
you sit on the couch with a couple aunts as one plays a piano. to your left, kai talks to one of his nephews, no older than six, and your heart warms at the sight.
one of his aunts enters and comments he's next to have kids, then looks at you.
the two of you erupt into your "coworkers, not dating" spiel, and she scoffs with a roll of her eyes. "could've fooled me."
neither of you look at each other after that for a moment. you turn back to the conversation you were in, but his nephew runs off, leaving him alone.
kai watches you talk to his family. all those buried feelings rise to the surface and his throat dries. he takes a second look at how beautiful you are. your smile, despite however tired you must feel, respectfully never falters. your small fingers grasp your cup, once filled with a festive party drink, now with coffee as the end of the night draws near. your dress fits your frame perfectly, and your heels match the exact shade of your dress.
several members of his family catch him staring. his nephew whispers something about love in his ear. he hushes the child quickly, but his tinted cheeks give him away.
kai isn't the only one caught staring, though. his mother watched you visibly sigh at the sight of him with his nephew, a smile tugging on your lips. his father saw the way you relaxed when he brought you away to the kitchen, checking on you a second time. his cousin heard the stutter when you told him kai was just your boss and that there was nothing going on between you two.
when the party isn't filled with talking and laughter, the silence is filled with lingering stares. bated breaths and twinkling eyes. the urge to cross the line between a boss and his assistant.
you disappear for a couple minutes to help his mother clean up after the party. kai talks with his father about "business" but you wonder if that's really the topic.
his mother is nosy, but polite about it. she asks about work and asks if he treats you well on the clock. you reply that he certainly does, and that you're grateful to have a boss that cares about you like he does.
she then double-checks that you're not really dating, and doesn't miss the cloud of sadness in your eyes when you insist that you are not.
she then tells you he's been single for a while because trust doesn't come easy to him. she mentions the blueness of his eyes. how it's been a bright, baby blue all night; a stark contrast to the gray tinted blue she's grown used to seeing. she doesn't elaborate the reasoning, but you don't need her to to know what she's hinting.
by the time you leave the party, most of his relatives have grown comfortable enough with you to hug. the six-feet apart one gives a wave. his mother's hug is the tightest; his father gives a firm handshake, but then draws you in for his own hug. his nieces and nephews attach to your legs and make you promise to see them again. you agree, not wanting to break their little hearts.
it's dark by the time you begin to drive home, and it has been for a while.
kai wants to hold your hand in the center console. he refrains. you rest your elbow there, hands close, but not touching.
you rehash the night, speaking highly of his family. he checks up on you a third time to make sure you're not overwhelmed, but to your own surprise, you feel okay. happy, even.
he apologizes for anything his aunts or mother might've said, but you promise every conversation was good.
eventually, the mention of the various comments came up. a count of how many times you had to tell people you were just friends, co-workers, and not dating. you share a laugh over it, but the walls are down already. whatever feelings had been buried have now resurfaced. kai internally curses himself, afraid of your reaction.
your mouth opens to say something, and his throat goes dry again. his heart would break if you are uncomfortable by it all.
"thanks for the invite, but i think i should transfer," he fears, "we shouldn't work together any more".
instead, you turn to him. "thank you for the invite. i had a good time."
"thank you for accompanying me."
it's silent for the last couple minutes, then he walks you to the door of your apartment. he stands outside, forcing words out of his throat while you stand in front of him, bathed in the gorgeous warm glow of your porch light.
"thank you again. i'm glad my mother didn't scare you off. it would've been so boring without you. see you at work."
you nod, "see you at work," but then as he turns to leave, you can't bear to let him go. you reach out to grab his coat and he turns. you make up an excuse about his scarf not being straight, though that doesn't really matter, and in the next second, you pull on it gently to bring him closer to you.
his eyes dart down to the grip on the wool between your fingers, and then to your face. you wear an expression equal of shyness and determination. he translates it into the consent he needs to cup your face in his hands and press his lips to yours.
warmth travels throughout both your bodies immediately. the kiss deepens to you pulling his coat closer, his steps forward, backing you into the wall behind you. he kicks your door shut and your hands bury into his hair.
kai's hands start to feel your body, but then he breaks it off. he doesn't want you to think he's only wanting you sexually. he wants something real. he's wanted it for ages.
he admits this. you shyly, admit you feel the same.
but while sex is put on pause, kai locks his car and you invite him in. you share a glass of wine and spend the night talking, growing closer.
the next day at work, it's hard to hide your blushing faces and giddy attitudes. all of your co-workers know immediately, but they also saw it coming for a long time. a couple congratulate you, some ignore the lovesickness like it's a disease, but no one makes a fuss.
maybe kai will be the next in his family to have kids after all. you're certain you've found something good with him, and you're determined to keep it.
now, onto a different path where i could take this idea… get ready, because this is a complete 180 degrees from the previous little bit.
ceo kai with a respectful yet confident assistant.
something is definitely brewing between these two. there are feelings to be felt. …even if neither of you recognize them yet.
kai is incredibly protective over you. you are his assistant, and if anyone needs your help, they must ask him first.
he doesn't want you being overworked or taken advantage of.
you also defend him when co-workers talk shit.
"i don't know why boss is making us do this stupid shit," someone complained once, "it's not like it matters, it's extra work."
"it's in your best interest to complete the task assigned to you. it'll make your job ten times easier when quarterlies roll around."
the coworker rolls her eyes, but kai, who could hear from his open-door office, smiles to himself. he's glad you see the tasks he assigns have purpose, and is grateful for you to try and help others to see that.
there are rumors going around that you sleep together, but he shuts them down immediately.
it's not even on your minds to have a relationship outside of work.
until that one night where he asked you to stay late to help him finish something.
you had seemingly hundreds of paper stacks to grow through, and he was on phone call after phone call.
he ordered food at some point for the two of you, wanting to take care of you since he was needing your help.
you're always eager to help, and even though it's a lot of work, promise to help until the job is done.
when it happened, it was an accident. a complete and total accident.
kai had been watching you sort through papers for too long and didn't even notice he was growing hard until he had to shift.
you looked so beautiful from where he was sitting. hair, once neatly tied up in a bun, now messily falling around your face. your shirt sunk further down every time you stretched to grab something on the other side of the table, exposing your chest a little more each time. your heels were kicked off to the side, and one foot was tucked under your lap.
earlier, he had asked you to enter the room whenever his phone went off to come and take notes.
on your way in, you accidentally make eye contact with the bulge that formed underneath the table.
that phone call is a particularly difficult one to focus on.
after it, you try to shuffle out of the room to give him privacy, but he knows you know and asks you to stay so he can apologize.
he accidentally gives tmi and talks about how it's been so long, and being there with you, looking so beautiful, got him worked up.
instead of shying away, you offer to help rid him of the problem.
not a lot of words are spoken, but somehow you find yourself giving him a bj under the desk.
he's so focused on your doe eyes and the shape of your lips and the way your mouth feels on him. your hands grasp his length & squeeze with the perfect amount of pressure. you jerk off what you can't fit. a string of drool connects your lip to his cock when you pull off for just a moment to admire him. his hands dig in your hair and urge you on, but he doesn't push. never pushes.
quiet moans escape his lips between praises, but you ask him to be louder for you, craving to hear the sounds he's holding back.
getting him off earlier than he expected, and you swallow it before it can hit the floor and leave evidence.
he then pulls you up on the desk, welcomes a kiss, and then moves down to taste you.
feelings he held back & feelings you didn't know you had come bursting out of the floodgates, making for an emotional experience combined with pent-up sexual desire.
supports your back as you come down from your orgasmic high, and fucks you on the desk as soon as his refractory period is over.
has impressive sex drive and says he spent most of his early twenties studying to prove himself.
now reaps the rewards with not only a high-up position, but a perfect assistant.
no motivation for work afterwards. enjoy the rest of your takeout and then he makes sure you get home safely.
the next couple days are awkward until he finally requests you to his office to talk about it.
this talk includes feelings that you had time, by now, to mull over. you both share them and find you feel the same thing for each other.
decide to try a hand at a relationship, starting slowly and keeping it on the down low (minus HR).
grow more comfortable with it & it blossoms into something good & healthy for you both.
now, a handful of smutty office scenarios to shuffle through. i can certainly expand on any of these upon request ;) (or i might anyway)
fooling around after hours. him laying you down across the desk or over top of it. having you on his lap while he answers phone calls.
blowing him under the desk when he's trying to focus on an important call.
sending him dirty texts or nudes from the bathroom when you're both supposed to be working.
itching for your lunch break to come already so he can finally have his way with you.
maybe even being so bold to snap the blinds shut, slap a hand over your mouth, and take you during work hours bc you wouldn't stop teasing. your co-workers all know exactly what's happening, but have lost the will to care.
retrieving him coffee but accidentally spilling it in his lap & trying to dry it with a thin paper towel.
wearing short skirts or low tops on purpose for him.
accidentally sending him a nude that was meant for a tinder date & having to talk about it the next day.
brushing past him on your way back to your seat & getting a little too close - on purpose or on accident.
rubbing your foot on him under the desk whenever you sit across from him.
and that's all i have for now! i'm deeply considering making that holiday party a one-shot, maybe, or taking these other scenarios and expanding on them. i also have way more ideas for this topic but made myself stop because i'm pretty sure this response hit 3k words.

Crossing Paths
Y/n is a struggling student trying to get through school while facing some challenges. Emily being a solider heading on a deployment when she stumbles into a little cafe that would change everything.
*Authors note~ chapter one of an Emily x reader au story. I don't know much about war so I'm so sorry if this isn't factually correct but I'll do my best with my research. I'll make it as GN reader as I can but may lean to Fem reader. I hope you guys enjoy and follow along with this. And I haven't forgotten about Happy Hours it's coming!*
Trigger warnings for the whole series are on my tumblr Masterlist but for this chapter mentions of leaving for war and loneliness money struggles etc
Tumblr media
You always loved the late shift at Crimsons Cafe, your boss was always so understanding of your situation, a young lady just trying to get through school, she knew your home life was difficult but you were a good worker who was extremely reliable. In fact you were in charge of managing the shifts some of the time. You had a few regulars who you'd grown rather close with over your years of working there, most looking for a friendly smile and some casual conversation while they enjoyed some coffee and a bite to eat.
Nothing was different from the normal since the moment you tied that apron around your slender waist pulled a few strands of hair from your bun so it would frame your face while your pens were hanging from your apron strings. A notepad placed in the pocket and a deep breath before you started to help your colleague with a few people that had came in at the same time due to the rain starting to pour. A smile plastered on your face you worked until there was only two of you in the cafe. Coffee machine whirling with every drink you made and the clatter of plates and mugs being picked up and brought back to be washed and ready for the next customer.
You hardly noticed her when she slipped in from the rain, cap covering most of her face and hair tied back neatly in a low bun. She silently slipped into the far right booth, using the soaked newspaper as a distraction from what would be happening next. Pot luck really that you happened to notice her when one of your regulars, Edward, began to flirt with you. You were smiling and remaining polite but you knew she would be your way out from the conversation that was becoming fairly awkward. With yourself excused from him you headed to the table to check on the new customer.
"What can I get ya" you murmured hoping not to startle the women but you did just that. You quickly flashed her a smile noticing her dull eyes indicating she was having a tough day. "What do you recommend?" You could've swore you imagined it with how quiet it was but with the subtle nod to the menu you immediately suggested a toffee late which she agreed on before returning to the paper as the rain pored harder now. You immediately went and set to work on her late before sneaking another glance at the mysterious lady. Dark raven hair pulled into a tight neat bun, army greens covering her frame with no crease in sight and some tough boots. Her body language was a great juxtaposition of her uniform due to the fact she was hunched over to be as small as possible, hoping to go unnoticed by the wandering eyes of Crimsons Cafe.
Once you had the steaming mug of coffee you headed back to her table with the intent of brightening the soldiers day. You made sure to flash her another smile causing her cheeks to flush a pink that matched the bow in your hair. "Here you go ma'am" you murmured bowing your head slightly in respect. "I know you're busy but would you mind sitting down for a while and talking to me, I'm feeling a little low" the stranger murmured and for some strange reason you felt the pull to tell her to wait an hour as you had to close the cafe then you'll be free to give her your undivided attention. She agreed to wait and went back to reading the paper and starring at the rain falling. It was as if the drops of rain held all the answers to her troubles.
As if on auto pilot you went around the closing of the cafe and prepared it for the morning shift workers before approaching the solider again, "I know a place we can go if you still want that talk" you shot her a comforting smile before she nodded in response. It didn't take you long to gather your belongings and shoot a quick couple of texts off while locking the cafe up, before you led the solider to the pier. You favourite spot when you got the chance to relax was here, something about watching the waves crash against the shore was calming to you. That was how you found yourself sat with the solider you'd met two hours ago in silence at the pier.
Now off of work you could truly appreciate how stunning the solider is and truly it seemed criminal to see her eyes so dull, her beauty shone through despite it though. A shaky breath was taken before she spoke up so quiet you almost missed it over the wind and waves, "thank you for sitting with me. I don't have anyone else to spend my last hours with." You seemed stunned, and the solider seemed to notice the shaking of your hand so she held it in hers hoping to calm you a little. "You don't have anyone?" You whispered and even you could hear the sadness seeping from your words. "No ma'am I don't. But maybe if you don't mind I could send letters to this pretty girl with a bow in her hair, she made my last few hours before I set off truly worth fighting for."
A silence overcome you both once more as you gazed out over the sea where you could see lights of land far out. You didn't know the lady, but you felt drawn to her so after a few minutes of thought you agreed to send letters to each other. She told you her name was Emily or Private Prentiss and you couldn't help but think it suited her. She told you of other deployments she'd had and you told her of school and working at the cafe. The conversation flowing easily as the time seemed to slip away with the tide. Despite the instant connection both of you remained guarded so really all you knew was the basic information yet you still found yourself getting sad at the woman leaving for war.
You knew that she couldn't tell you details, but when you walked her to her bus stop you wished she could. With all the news recently it seemed like a death sentence, Emily deserved more than death and you were certain of it. When the bus arrived you immediately threw yourself into her arms, sensing she could use a hug like the other soldiers were doing with their family members. Her arms tightened around you and you felt a few warm tear drops against your neck, "stay safe private" you whispered to her causing her to pull back and gently bring your right hand to her lips. "Always" was all she offered you before wiping some stray tears you had trailing down your cheeks. It was bazar. You'd only just met the woman and yet here you were crying over her leaving. "You'll write?" The raven haired woman nodded and returned the question causing you to laugh and nod before she got on the bus.
The full bus drove away leaving the family on the pavement crying for the loved ones they may never see again and a pretty young girl with a bow in her hair that no one noticed there. Walking herself home guided by the street lights, the only company she had was her tears and memories of the one work shift she'd never forget. Of course you knew that there was a high chance that you'd never hear from her again, perhaps all you were was a time filler, but you didn't care. Arriving home soaked and cold you carried out your usual routines. If only you knew how you'd life would change from now on. The solider had succeeded in capturing your broken heart, if only you'd captured hers.

Two times Weiss Schnee regretted finding the bees, and one time she did not
"We should wait until morning to cross the bridge." Jaune had a tone of finality when he spoke now. Weiss wasn't sure if that was because of his age or his suffering from loneliness and betrayal. Maybe both. "There are wolf-boar scouts at night in the Dark Acre."
That sounded as confusing as any other threat in this place, and Weiss had learned to respect them. At least a little bit more. She stretched her neck and winced at the knot there, massaging it with a gloved hand. The small clearing they called a camp was damp from rain and quiet with just the three of them. "Hey, are you cold?" Weiss asked Ruby, who blinked and shrugged, but her skin was cool to the touch. "Where's Yang with more firewood?" Weiss didn't ask anyone specifically, but Jaune shook his head anyway. One look around, and Blake seemed to also be suspiciously absent. Groaning, Weiss set out to the task of being the only responsible and mentally stable huntress in their party.
She knew what she would find before she heard the muffled laughter, and Weiss missed home a little bit more, even if the thought of home made her feel sick. But right now she really missed doors with locks.
"I don't mind it." Weiss heard Blake's voice, low and raspy, and she never wanted to hear it again. "It's part of you."
"But don't you think it's too cold? Or too hot? The heat transfer is insane with the metal," Yang responded, giving more information than Weiss was willing to process.
"I'm approaching this area!" Weiss yelled from about ten feet away from the giggling couple. "I repeat, I, Weiss Schnee, perfectly capable of hearing and sight, am approaching this area!" she repeated, to which the giggling increased. The nerve of these dorks.
Weiss crossed a tree line to find Blake's boots just hitting the ground, her jacket rumpled, and Yang's arms still shamelessly around her.
"Heya, Weiss," Yang greeted with a grin while Blake had the decency to blush.
"Unbelievable," Weiss murmured, arms akimbo. "You left a while ago looking for firewood," she accused Yang, who shrugged and pointed to the forgotten heap at her feet. "Ruby's cold," Weiss added with a drop of teasing, satisfied with Yang's furrowed brows. "I know this is exciting and new for you," she continued, "but not everyone is in the mindset to enjoy your honeymoon phase. So please keep your hands to yourselves."
"We were about to head back," Blake offered with a small smile. "Care to give me a hand?" There was a glint in her eyes as she asked Yang, but it took Weiss a second too long to catch up.
"No problem!" Yang responded, detaching her prosthetic while Blake piled it along the firewood.
"I can't," Weiss said before walking back into the tree line without a second glance in the direction of her adorable but insufferable teammates. "And you have a hickey, Belladonna!" she added triumphantly, marching back to camp.
0000
The rain never stopped. It fell mercilessly, and they haven't seen the sun in the Dark Acre for days. Ruby had barely been speaking, and the tension between their group was palpable, like a constant heartburn in the back of Weiss's throat. They had been taking turns watching Ruby, and tonight it was Weiss's time to try and convince their broken leader to eat.
"It's not that bad," Weiss said as she chewed on stale carrot-cheese, offering a piece to Little and another to Ruby. "It's aged cheese, if you think about it."
"Yeah," Ruby answered apathetically, turning her back to Weiss. Impromptu naps were another thing Ruby had started doing, which Little celebrated at first but then understood that it was a problem.
"Rest." Weiss tried to adjust Ruby's hood around her, but the girl shrugged her off. "I'll check on Blake and Yang for more food."
"I'm not hungry."
"I know." Weiss took a deep breath and stood on the moist ground. Her fighting skirt had seen better days, but she was Weiss Schnee, and she patted her thighs with grace and elegance as she set into the task of finding more food. Rain kept its ruthless pace, though as she walked farther from camp, it seemed to slow to an annoying trickle. Her hair was not doing well either way.
She found a tree with fruits Jaune would have to clear for them before eating, and as she spotted another fruitful tree, she heard a sound that made her stop in her tracks.
Not a grimm; not a Jabberwalker. Right now, not even Salem's laughter would make Weiss this instantly mad. Weiss groaned out loud at the sound of moaning.
"What have I done to deserve this?" Weiss expressed to the picked fruit in her hands. She located the source of the sounds, a small cave to the side of a clearing. Part of her wanted to ignore it and bleach her brain, but Ruby was alone and they needed food. Someone needed to knock some sense into those two. She expected such abhorrent behavior from Yang, but pulling Blake into it was too much. She left the fruit outside the cave and took a deep breath.
"Too much, too much." Weiss heard Yang's voice echoing in the cave, followed by a hiss. "Slower, Blake."
Weiss froze on her way inside because there was absolutely no way they were up to that.
"I'm sorry," Blake replied, her voice low and calm. A sound of kissing followed, and Weiss gagged. "I'm going to try again. Try to relax."
Weiss wanted to die.
"But you also need to push a little harder on the way out, or it won't work."
Scratch that. Weiss was dead.
She jumped inside the cave, her rapier in the air as her other hand covered her eyes. "I can’t believe you two are even in the mood for such lewd behavior!" she yelled, brandishing her weapon at nothing. "I’m giving you ten seconds to look presentable before I open my eyes!"
"Weiss, open your eyes," Yang deadpanned.
"Are you both dressed?" Weiss pressed further.
"Yes," Yang confirmed in a similar monotone.
Weiss opened one eye first, scanning the cave quickly. Both Yang and Blake were indeed wearing pants, and while Yang had her jacket off, intimate body parts were 100% hidden. Yang’s arm was detached, and Blake’s hands were around the base connected to Yang’s scar.
"It’s been bothering me since I got it back," Yang explained. "I usually need help when detaching the base."
Heat flared in Weiss’ cheeks. "Well, I see you already have assistance." Weiss nodded at Blake, her cat ears betraying the laughter her mouth managed to dampen. "I will be heading back to camp, then."
"What did you think we were doing?" One golden eyebrow was up, followed by a half-smirk. "Weiss Schnee, did you really think Blake and I were having s—"
"You have no limits, Xiao Long."
"How dare you"—Yang placed her left hand over her heart—"I would never."
"Is everything okay back in the camp, Weiss?" Blake asked before the teasing escalated.
"We’re looking for food."
"We won’t take long," Blake amended with a small smile. Weiss frowned at Yang, who grinned innocently as she left.
"C’mon, let me tell her," Yang said once Weiss was out of earshot.
"Don’t you dare."
"It’ll be good for her!"
"Yang, no."
"It was just some hand stuff," Yang said while shaking her prosthetic.
Blake couldn’t hold her giggles, leaning to kiss Yang’s cheek. "I love you… but let’s tone it down around Weiss. She might explode."
"We should set her up with Jaune."
"Yang, no."
0000
Through the sandstorm, Weiss heard the familiar shriek of a Nevermore. Wyvern and Lancers also took the sky, attacking at random intervals.
"Ruby. Ruby, open your eyes!" she begged her unconscious teammate. After using her eye power, Ruby had fallen limply, and it took most of what was left of Weiss' aura to clear the path to her friend. "Ruby!" she yelled, sand entering her eyes and mouth. "Ruby, talk to me!"
"We gotta bounce!" Nora yelled from behind Weiss. "I’ll help you carry her!"
"Wait, where are Yang and Blake?" Weiss asked with Ruby’s arm around her neck.
"They were the ones distracting the big flying chicken."
"The Nevermore?"
Nora shrugged, shooting a flying grenade in the direction of an approaching flock of Wyverns before helping Ruby up from the other side.
"Can you take her by yourself?"
"Weiss, we need to leave!" Nora’s statement was punctuated by Winter’s chilly attack somewhere above them.
"I’ll meet you back at Shade!" Weiss didn’t look back and ran in the direction of the fight.
"Weiss!" She recognized Winter’s voice. "You need to leave this instant!" Her sister had become overprotective since they returned, but there was a layer of fresh desperation in Winter’s voice as she landed next to Weiss.
"Have you seen Blake and Yang?" Weiss held her sister’s shoulders.
Winter’s eyes widened. "Winter?" Weiss insisted, but they had to break apart as a Lancer tried to sting her from behind. As the grimm froze to death, Weiss latched to her sister’s forearm. "What happened, Winter?"
"I saw the moment Yang’s aura broke. Blake was with her, but I haven’t seen them since. Weiss, come back here!"
Nothing could stop Wiess from finding her friends—her family. Hunters ran in the opposite direction, as it was clear they had been called to retreat. They trickled in behind Winter’s line of defense, but none of the hunters were Yang or Blake. She wasn’t going to give up; Weiss would fight wave after wave of grimm to find them.
Winter had taken Weiss by the waist when she heard the familiar sound of a high-caliber weapon.
Ember Celica.
"They’re here!" Weiss yelled before her sister carried her away. "Yang! Blake!"
"Help!" Blake’s voice, followed by more shots. Winter was gone in a flash, flying through the harsh storm in the direction of Blake’s cries. Weiss watched as Blake ran in her direction, with Winter carrying an unconscious Yang above them.
"We need to go!" Winter ordered, grimm’s growling intensifying with the lack of hunters. "Now!"
Weiss took Blake’s forearm, as her hand was occupied holding the left pair of Ember Celica. "You two need to stop running away!"
Blake chuckled a wet laugh, her eyes red-rimmed. "We love you too!"
"I’ll strangle you both once Yang wakes up!"
"Don’t give her ideas!"
"BELLADONNA!"

Country of Nothings and the Privilege of Grief
Tumblr media
This is the one where my tito dies.
I remember many details about his death: like the color of his urn and how my tita placed his glasses beside a picture of him smiling. I remember some points less clearly. I know he died in the summer months of 2021, but I don’t know if he died in April or in May. And I forgot the exact words that my mom used when she told me that he had died— if she mentioned his COVID, or if I just made that connection myself.  What I remember best, though, is the grief.
Grief was quiet— which is not to say it was mild or gentle. It wasn’t. Grief was quiet, like how I’d lie down to sleep in a silent room only to remember that I couldn’t remember the last time that I talked to my tito. I’d be looking at my phone while I was waiting for class to start and my browser would be open to the very last philosopher that my tito recommended. I’d be sitting at my desk during an empty moment, and I’d realize that I had forgotten the sound of my tito’s laugh.
This feeling, more than anything, is what Alfonso Manalastas wants to memorialize in Country of Nothings.
The poem itself is the record of a very specific period in Philippine history. The dramatic situation is set against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic and its mounting deaths— thus the running count of fifteen hundred and one, hundred and two— joined with the shutdown of the ABS-CBN corporation. Here, then, is a Filipino who is trying to find meaning in the mismanagement of a country. Here is a persona who is trying to make sense of senseless deaths, rationalizing an irrationality and realizing what a privilege it is to still be here, to breathe and enjoy this grief. In telling this, the poem juxtaposes the story of an individual sadness with the tragedy of an entire country: Headlines looking more and more like obituaries / Staggering from their appointed places on the paper.
This piece revolves around historicity. Every death and every pitch-black TV is caused by a national event or an international pandemic, respectively, and so the poem repeats, You recount the dead until you fumble over the math… You recount the dead until you fumble over the myth because these are not new events. This is not the first time that our country has experienced the crippling of free speech or the spread of a deadly virus, and it will not be the last, if only because history bears repetition.
However, for all that the poem is grounded in its context, its language explores the timelessness of mourning. On the streets, / more nothing. And from nothingness, you muster / nothing. The sensation of emptiness is not exclusive to the year 2020. Ever since injustice and ever since war and ever since illness, people have suffered loss and recounted the dead, but Manalastas' greatest achievement here is writing grief in the vernacular of this time and in the voice of this people while still retaining the universal numbness of death. And when they try to devour us with a hunger / so infinite, we will wholly surrender to them nothing.
So the poem ends with a surrender— which is itself a kind of silence. I find this fitting, if only because silence is another response to grief. Sitting in the dark until the numbers blur and your TV becomes static. Lying on a bed and trying to reconstruct a voice using fragments of memories.
I'll tell you now that, in my better moments, I believe in an afterlife. I'm a Christian, which means that most of the time I like the idea of heaven and I look forward to the day when I ascend and I can finally ask my tito, Why did you leave me? And he'd give me the answer that I'm waiting for.
In my worse moments, though, I imagine asking that same question and receiving no reply. Nothing but the hum of a broken TV, and my grief left unanswered— as if to say that there are far worse things than the quiet.
A/N: The full text of Alfonso Manalastas' Country of Nothings was published in 2021 in Cha: An Asian Literary Journal over here in this link. Also, this is just my English homework. Hi, Sir Andy!

bf!yuji x gn!reader, bf!megumi x gn!reader, bf!toge x fem!reader
Tumblr media
-itadori yuji
will let you sit on his lap whenever he plays
chin resting on your shoulder
off-mic if ever you're with him
you tell him where the enemies are
teaches you how to play because he wanna play with you
great support whenever you're his teammate
your screen displays your character dramatically falling down causing you look back to your boyfriend with a pout, "i don't wanna play anymore!"
you huff and cross your arms, yuji chuckles at your pouty face leaving a kiss on your lips.
he lifts you up from where you're seated pulling you to his lap, "come on now, don't let one kill throw your game" he sweetly encourages you.
"fine," you turn to your screen showing that an enemy killed you yet again, yuji couldn't help but laugh at your screen.
you throw a mini tantrum tossing your phone to the side, huffing. he wraps his arms around you his phone screen coming in your sight.
his fingers maneuver fast on the screen skillfully killing the enemies, yuji gives your neck a light peck as a silent apology and continue playing the game.
"stupid game" you grumble under your breath nuzzling your back to yuji more giving up on playing choosing to watch and point out to your boyfriend instead.
whenever you play au with him, he'll always set bets on it
if he's the impostor he always kill you first then laughs at you
"babe continue your tasks" he says while humming happily
when the tables turn though... he gets all pouty and glares at you
he really takes it seriously like baby it's just a game
but give him a kiss all will be forgiven
you're peacefully waiting for your task to finish when you get a glimpse of someone walking towards you.
that someone being the same color your boyfriend usually use. you shrug it off thinking he's there to do his task too.
once your task is done, you see him standing there causing for both your characters to fall in a staring contest.
until your boyfriend decided to kill you and walk away from the scene like nothing happened.
you let out a loud gasp dropping your phone on your lap looking at your boyfriend from across the room.
"what? i'm decent enough to let you finish your task!" he tries defending himself, you roll your eyes at him.
"next time i'll kill you first, i don't care if it's in front of the other crewmates," yuji giggles, loving how he easily gets you riled up.
-fushiguro megumi
he's the quiet one on the team
always has his mic on but seldom talks
wants you to be near him whenever he plays
why? because he wants your praises when he wins
he killed an enemy after sniping? immediately looks at you, praise him!
when you're his teammate, he's sticking with you whether you like it or not
his teammates gets annoyed since you're the only one benefiting from him
megumi will probably trash talk them
which is so out of character of him
you two eventually gets kick out
ended up playing duo because of megumi
not that he's complaining though
you're leaning to your boyfriend's side as you watch him play his game.
you hear the muffled cries of his teammates through his earphones as their enemy pulls through.
megumi scopes in aiming for a headshot, clicking the fire button. he successfully kills the enemy, his gaze fleeting up to look at you.
you smile at his cute actions, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek, "flawless" you simply commented.
he turns back to his screen with a smug look on his face, really getting into game now.
"i'll join next game?" you wave your phone to him asking for permission, he nods as his screen showed bold letters of winner.
when you tell him to be the look out as you do your task, he innocently follows you
he ends up getting killed because you're the impostor
he gives you the most betrayed look as you giggle walking away from the scene
never follows and stays far away from there on
doesn't believe anything you say anymore, even though you're telling the truth
gumi's bby: someone come with me, gonna do long task
yes, it was megumi who told u to have that name
you send in the chat, trying new tactics to eliminate the crew faster, so far the impostors has killed one crew.
after the meeting, you all do your respective tasks, megumi end up going with you since he's done with his tasks.
you stand where the long tasks usually are, megumi stays behind being the lovely boyfriend he is.
he keeps a look-out for you as you pretend to do your so-called 'task'. you move closer to him.
both your characters in close proximity, you make a kissing sound giving an illusion of you giving him a kiss in-game before pushing the kill button.
you heard a soft gasp from him as you run away from the scene while giggling, "how dare you" he whispers.
you shrug "i gave you a smooch," he groans as his character floats around, yeah at least he got a smooch.
-inumaki toge
also have his mic on all the time
enjoys catfishing players with you
he always throws off the game
but when his teammate starts throwing tantrums he just full on pops off
in the end he's the mvp
if you start talking shit out of nowhere
toge just laughs
but if his teammates starts asking personal questions
he will start making his presence known
if you're on all mic however, and the other team starts talking shit because you're a girl
he won't stop targeting that particular player, game be damned
he won't let the player play
he will kill him everytime he respawns
"woah dude your aim is shit" you say as toge's phone replays the kill cam.
the opponent used a whole damn mag just to kill him. toge stifles a laugh, your voice full of sincerity.
that one must have went straight to his heart. "pfft, like yours is any better. be a good girl, go and make me a sandwich" hate these kind of guys the enemy replies, his voice can be heard by all.
toge frowns at this, you look at him with your mouth agape. unbelievable, he really pulled out that shit card, "show him," you whisper to his ear as he nods at you while smirking.
his character is already making its way towards the enemy. once finding the enemy, he switches to knife and did a clean cut causing him to die.
you snort and mock him, "pathetic" you let a low laugh, toge smiling wide.
the other players are also laughing hearing the frustrated shout of the enemy, "like mine is any better huh?" you taunt him.
toge's teammates are entertained by the scene letting him kill the same enemy over and over again using knife.
due to frustration and anger the enemy leaves the game, you double in laughter, "fucking pussy" you kiss toge's cheek, as a silent 'thank you'.
now in among us though, whenever a meeting is called he always tells you're the impostor
makes up shitty excuses saying you're really the impostor
you defending yourself, other players believed his lies
'y/n was not an impostor' you look at him then scoot away as he tries getting closer with you again
your phone displayed your character floats away in space, your name appears on the screen informing you're not the imposter.
you glare at toge who's laughing at his screen, you groan and move away with him. he notices you moving away and whines trying to get closer to you again.
but you didn't let him get any closer focusing on your phone. toge pouts still trying to cuddle with you, one of the crew calls a meeting as soon as it's available.
you forget about getting away from toge when you see that he got all the vote, you laugh, his character floating away.
toge successfully gets a hold of you and snuggles to your side. his phone long forgotten, not wanting to play anymore and just cuddle with you.

Tumblr media
Ever since his fake death, Itadori has been training alone with the help of Gojo - and now, he works along a freshly new face, who belongs to a senior, founds out ex-salaryman named Nanami Kento. He's far a thousand times more strict than Gojo. Itadori doesn't really likes the change, because Nanami is a person he can't get along. This whole guy's appearance scream "work 4 life"; he has proved different, now he screams "work is shit - but I gotta do it because others won't".
They've just finished cleansing the outside of a movie theater off a few curses, when Itadori hears shouting from far behind them. Two figures approach, waving excessively. He quickly picks on Nanami's tired sigh beside him.
"Nanami! We figured out you'd be here! Our mission has been finished and we wanted to catch up to have lunch together!" A male clad in a full black outfit shouts, he has brown hair and a beanie on top of his head, looking quite content.
The other person simply trots next to him in silence, approaching with a friendly smile. They notice Itadori faster than the male, smile widening and quickly waving hello, suddenly eager to reach up to them. The gesture makes the pink haired boy perk up, curious to why the other person looked so joyful. His question is easily answered, when they tug on the man's sleeve and motion to him.
"Ino, we have a third buddy!" The dude looks at him with widened eyes. "So nice to meet you, I'm Y/N L/N! It's great to see new faces around!"
Itadori smiles at your energy, knowing already he would click with you very well.
"I'm Ino Takuma, sorry for not noticing you before! Your uniform looks cool." Itadori exchanges a few compliments with Ino, before the man turns to talk with Nanami, leaving him and you together.
"Yes! I'm Sukuna's vessel, Itadori Yuuji-desu! My type of woman is Jenn-"
You turn to him. "So, are you a first year?"
"Geh? Weren't you dead though?!"
"I was!- I am!- Please keep secret."
"Okay!"
"Ahem." Nanami coughs, drawing attention. "I requested you two to not come after me today. Itadori here is the reason why."
"That's no problem, we're very capable of keeping secrets." You threw your arm over Itadori's shoulder, him nodding along with you.
"Oh really, then remember to keep quiet about it. I'll let this slide." The group of students nervously at Nanami's intimidating tone. "But, I'll get to have my break alone."
"Gah!" Ino exclaimed, watching Nanami walk away; he also left the responsability of taking care of Itadori for you two, leaving without a word. "It really had to be today, when Nanami would take us to his favorite bakery..."
"Crybaby." You teased. "Itadori here can't go outside where anyone can see him, he's dead. So, we were to order food either way because he shouldn't be left out."
"Augh okay, it would be unfair."
"So, where are you staying Itadori?"
"At Gojo's state!"
"Whoa, I've never been there before." Ino commented, waiting as you sent a message to Ijichi to pick them up.
"He's my teacher, a very cool one!"
"I imagine! Ooookay, once we get there I'll get the food."
Itadori felt as his chest would burst of excitement, finally there was people around him again, he couldn't be less happy about it.
"Sharing is caring!"
Itadori laughed as you wrestled with Takuma for some fries, netflix long forgotten in the background, as watching the banter was way more entertaining. Most of the time, Ino rambled a lot about Nanami, while he rambled a lot about Gojo. The guy even showed him the cool scar under his beanie. He felt kinda upset after explaining the exchange was just temporary, his stay under Nanami's wing wasn't decisive, and therefore, he was more like a classmate than a partner.
Itadori also learned a lot about you. He was surprised to find out that you, although energetic, was the one to speak the lesser in conversations. His surprisement grew even bigger when you told him you're a exchange student from Kyoto, arriving Tokyo about the same month as him - thankfully, you were to say for good.
Conversations flowed easily in the air, until a voice from the doorway barged in.
"Yuuji-kun! Don't forget about your lessons! Hi kids! Bye kids!" Gojo said playfully, throwing the familiar punching bear to Itadori before leaving.
"What's this thing?" Ino asked.
"It's to help me control my cursed energy. So while I watch the movies, if I don't charge it with cursed energy it punches me square in the face. I thought I had mastered this thing already, but he insist I keep training with it." Itadori grumbles.
"At least it's cute." You commented, taking a sip of your drink.
"Until it punches you in your face without warning!" The pink haired boy barks.
The talks died down, the three of you eating quietly when another movie is played on the screen. Itadori didn't bother reading the title, it was a plain one about a zombie apocalypse that got him extremely bored, yet he kept watching still so the plushie didn't punch him in the face again; he's been keeping a record since all his last cursed energy training lessons were a sucess to this day. When his head started nodding and eyelids dropping Itadori can't remember well, about fourty five minutes of movie perhaps? Make it fifty, the second slumber took over his body completely.
When he awoke once again, it was near midnight, the clock on the wall told him so. He also noticed a soft and warm surface supporting his head, figures, it's your shoulder he's resting into, he feels an arm around his own shoulders and your cheek placed upon his hair.
"Hey, it's late." You immediately notices he's awake, calling out softly. "You should sleep on your room, or something, better to your spine."
He chuckles when you poke his side. "But I'm comfortable here."
"I'm surprised, you just met me today, and now is sleeping on my shoulder."
"I'm not, that happens often to me."
"Sleeping on people's shoulders?"
"No! Making friends quickly." Itadori likes your gentle warmth, your hug, everything makes him feel at home. "I met two more people before you for two weeks, but they can't see me, because I'm dead."
"So I'll keep you company, that's my new mission."
His eyes widen at that, a oh so little blush covering the tip of his ears.
"For how many time I slept anyway?" He asks.
"About two- no, three hours. You missed two movies, and this one is about to end."
"And you stayed here the whole time?" He motions to your shoulder.
"Yep. That reminds me I gotta pee."
Itadori grumbles, but quickly lifts himself off you, respecting your needs. That gives him some time to look around, he notices Ino is gone, and the plushie sits quietly at the other side of the couch, unmoving.
"Y/N! How did you manage to make it quiet down?" He's beyond bafflet.
"...que."
"What!"
"I said!" You arrive quickly at the doorframe, hands still wet from when you washed them. "I used my innate technique."
"Oh! How is it like?"
"It's kinda funny, gimme a moment." You left to wipe off your hands, coming back in a second. "So, just like Shoko, I produce reverse curse energy, but it's quite different than hers, I can't heal people. That's why we often call it positive energy instead. I can use it to soothe off negative energy, so the bear has no cursed energy right now."
"How does it works on people?" He felt very curious about everything, asking away like a kid.
"Since everyone has negative energy, it just makes you sleepy really. But when it comes to curses it's really practical, I can either weaken it or, if the curse is like grade three or four, I can slap them off existence completely by wiping all their energy." You were naturally proud of having a such versatile power, your own energy swirling with pride around you.
"That sounds amazing! Is it why I fell asleep though?"
"Nah, only if I did it on purpose. I guess you were just tired, hope you don't mind I decided to let you rest today."
"No way, it was a good nap."
You nodded. "By the way, Ino left to attend to a drinking party, he paid for our food."
"Drinking? Is he old?"
"Yeah, he's twenty." You chuckled, already expecting that kind of reaction.
"No way! He looks young just like us!"
"That's totally my reaction after I learned he's twenty!"
After that day, you started visiting Itadori weekly to daily, after exchanging numbers he made a little group with you and Ino, naming it the "Nanami trio". But really, he exchanges more texts with you in private, be them memes, cool images he wish to share, etcetera. Although, Ino wasn't left excluded, he ofter brough his xbox to connect to Itadori's tv room and you all would spend hours playing together; he just didn't spend much time with both of you as much. And that was okay.
For a few days, your connection with Itadori died down when he didn't reply to your texts. They would remain unread for some time, the longest being half a day, until he would spam apologies then move on with the topic. That became a routine until one day when you came over to check on Itadori unnanounced, needin to ease off your worries about the boy, only to find him sobbing in the middle of a hallway, staring ahead and beyond, his back to you.
"Ita-?"
"Egh!" Startled, he scrambled to wipe his eyes, turning to you. "H-hey, um, hi."
"What happened?"
"I- he-" His eyes didn't met yours, knuckles white in a death grip. You notice he has a few bandages thrown over his face and arms. The way his shoulders are drawn, as if he wants to shrink into himself is something you've experienced before.
"Something hard to talk about?"
He nods almost immediately, head still facing down.
"It's alright, come with me." You reach for his hands, grimacing slightly when his forceful grip is now on your hand, yet you don't comment on it. He follows you through the state wordlessly.
You two stop on the same tv room, sitting down on the couch. You then guide his head to your shoulder, gently massaging his scalp with the free hand.
"It's alright."
Those two words are chanted like a prayer for the next half hour, at some point, Itadori twisted his body towards yours and unknowingly caged you between him and the sofa arm. He embraced you with a force you didn't have in you, like he didn't want to lose one another. Painful or not, not a muscle moved on your body. He needed a shoulder to cry on.
Thirty minutes passed like seconds, you peered down only to find the boy confortably napping against your bosom; at some point you just became the cold side of the pillow to him. That's alright. It brings you joy to be the mom friend anyways. So you decided to join the sleepland aswell, arms still secured around his shoulders and the back of his head.
It feels like the nap hasn't been long, though, because you can feel Itadori's grip loosening and therefore, you're awake.
"Sorry if I broke any bones, in advance."
"Wow, and you only warn me now."
He laughs at your comeback, hands still secured around your waist.
"I'm surprised you let me uh, cuddle you for comfort - and sleep. I don't understand it? You just make me sleepy." He rambled, keeping eye contact with you while his head still rests on your chest.
"That's a piece of cake when you have younger siblings who seek for you every night they get a nightmare."
"Does that mean I can come to you again if I have a nightmare?" There it is, his togepi-kirby cutesy face.
"Are you four?"
"That's mean!" Itadori blushed, squeezing you on his arms. "I like the contact. It puts me at ease."
"Mm, do you want to talk about it?"
He gulped. "No, not really."
Your peach haired friend remained silent, and so did you. It seems he doesn't intend in letting you go soon, or he just really forgot to mention it. It gives them time to think, your younger sisted used to do that sometimes, back in Kyoto.
"Y/N, wanna watch anything?"
"Sure, have you watched Parasyte before?"
"No, let's give it a try then!" Itadori glances at the remote, then back at you - making you confused over his hesitation to move. He notices you noticed it, chuckling nervously. "To be honest, I don't wanna let go."
"It's hurting my back."
"SORRY I'M SORRY!" He jumped away from you like a cat would jolt away from a cucumber, making you snicker.
"It's okay, I just wanted to change positions."
And to tease you, but he didn't need to know that part.
He glared at you with a small pout, typing the initials of Parasyte on the search bar. Outside his line of vision, you were grinning like a idiot, his sweeteness took a tow on you. All the people of Tokyo you met really held a way different spirit from your classmates in Kyoto, Itadori being the nicest of all. It's surprising him being Sukuna's vessel to begin with; being honest, you felt drawn by it.
"Y/N, it's startiiiiing." He cut your daydreaming short, slumping on your side and propping his head on your shoulder.
"This again?" You throw an arm around his shoulders, very much like the first time he cuddled himself on you.
"Don't blame me, you're the one who wanted to change positions. Guess I'll just make some alterations since I'm awake this time!" One of his arms went behind your back and circled your waist, hand resting at your hip.
"It's definely different, since the other time you drooled on me."
"Hhgh, okay okay! Let me enjoy this." For perhaps the actual first time, you're able to watch without exchanging words with one another.
And this time, it's you who's head loll to the side, nose buried on his soft rose perfumed hair. Itadori doesn't comment on it yet, his free hand moves under your legs to lift your whole body up efortlessly when he senses you have fallen asleep.
"I remember you said it's bad for my spine, I wouldn't mind it... yours however."
The boy makes a beeline to the guest room, he sighs when there is no choice but open the door with his foot. Inside, he places you carefully in the soft bed.
Before he could leave, a hand reaches up for his sleeve.
"Itadori," He turned, looking at you. "Make me company?"
He giggles softly - you think it sounds like a highschool girl. "You should start calling me by my first name!" Itadori rambles as he climbs on the bed, arms wrapping around your waist in a motion you're familiar with.
"Yuuji, I'm tired, let me sleep."
"But I wanna talk more..." He pouts. "Also, are we, um, dating?"
You wriggle around, bringing his head down to peck on his forehead, teasing. "Correction, I want to date you."
"Uh, oh." A blush coats his face so quickly, you'd say someone dumped a bucket of red paint on his face.
"Is that a no?"
"No!"
"So it is a no."
"Christ, will you stop teasing for a second, I'm trying to talk here." He makes an angry version of his togepi-kirby face, you can't help but grin.
"You amuse me, but okay. I'll do it for you."
"Thanks." He blinks, the blush slowly fading away. "You know, I lied, not about the contact, I like the contact nonetheless-"
His hand moves to play with yours, such as tapping his tips against yours, or meassuring the palms.
"-it's you who brings me comfort."
It's also your turn to blush, that line was seriously charming.
"Yeah."
"Yeah?"
"Yes, we're dating now." You respond, a little eagerly. "Can I kiss you?"
"Please."
This is the best person I could ask for, Itadori thinks, keeping his eyes open as yours shut during the kiss, whom I won't change for anything else in this world.
When you both separate, Itadori feels drowsy and sleepy. His face fits perfectly on your shoulder as always.
"Goodnight, my favorite person."

Tumblr media
「 Oikawa 」
Oikawa slaps himself one more time, his vision was getting blurry, his eyes searching for one person, that one person that's put up with all his bullshit and loved him thoroughly. "Fucking hell Oikawa, can you focus a little bit more?!" Iwaizumi yells at him, they lost the first set, all because Oikawa couldn't find you at the bleachers.
"Oh I'd love to, but you see Y/N-" Iwaizumi cuts him off, "Y/N didn't come today because she's still hurt you ass! Now get your head back into the game," Iwaizumi sends him one last glare. Oikawa scoffs, you were his lucky charm, whenever you were there to watch his games he was more motivated to win but without you, it's almost like it's not worth it.
Even after all of the things Oikawa said, you couldn't help but watch his games, it felt like a routine for you. The game finished with Aoba Johsai winning, the gap wasn't big but they won and that's all that matters. You quickly made your way out of the gym but someone's hand stopped you from doing so, looking up you see Iwaizumi. He was the one that ran after you instead of your boyfriend, he helped you calm down during that time, "Y/N can we.. talk?" He asked.
Looking around, you didn't see Oikawa anywhere so you agreed. Walking just outside the gym, there he stood, the moonlight was shining down on him so beautifully, fuck. "Y/N, please have a listen to what he says, he's been a wreck these days.." Iwaizumi says, offering you a gentle smile before leaving you two. "So.. what did you want to talk about? That you wanted to break up? That you found someone that's way better than me? Someon-"
"No! No one is better than you! No one can ever replace you y/n, so please listen to me. The shit I said before was because I wasn't thinking straight, it was never you, I just- I just thought that you might see the real me, pathetic little athlete and leave one day, I didn't want that to happen.. I'm sorry," Oikawa said, his chest heaving up and down, his pretty hazel eyes had tears flowing down his cheeks.
You couldn't watch Oikawa cry, all you wanted to do was wrap your arms around him and tell him that it was alright. Instead you approached him slowly, taking his hands into yours, "I forgive you Oikawa, but it'll take time for me to put in trust in you," You said, giving him the slightest smile. "T-That's do-able, I'll wait until you're ready again, and I promise to not break your heart again," And he plans to keep that promise.
「 Akaashi 」
Akaashi tells himself that he'll be a better boyfriend, he'll make it up to you. But why can't he send you a single text? Maybe call? No, he wants to apologize in person, the longer he drags this fight out the more he realizes how much of a wreck he really is without you. He starts to ask himself, 'What would y/n do?' or 'Have they eaten yet?'
The last time he's seen you was at the hallways, he's always seeked you out but you always avoided him, the calm and composed Akaashi Keiji, going crazy over you. "How do I even make her listen to me Bokuto? She won't even spare me a glance.." he muttered, Bokuto felt pity for his friend, 'Maybe this is how y/n felt when I ignored her,' he told himself.
"Just walk straight up to her, say that you want to talk and apologize, don't make excuses, say that you're sorry, wholeheartedly," Bokuto says, smiling at him. "Easier said than done," Akaashi sighs, it's the first time he's ever dealt with something like this, but for you, he'll keep trying
He found the perfect opportunity to face you when the teacher had asked Akaashi to help you with some subjects you were failing, you've skipped school for a week prior to the argument. It's been hard to catch up with all the work, so Akaashi was sent to lend you a hand. You were more than surprised when Akaashi comes up to your door step, "Uh.." You said, slamming the door onto his face, but he was quickly to catch it, leaving the door slightly opened.
"Y/N I was sent here by the teacher to help you with school.. and to apologize," He said, hesitantly, opening the door once again. You let Akaashi in, you couldn't tell but Akaashi was nervous as hell, all the words he's rehearsed were forgotten the moment he saw you. He curses himself for hurting you, "Sorry, you were forced to come here to help me," You said, keeping your gaze on the floor. "No, I should be the one apologizing,"
"It was unfair of me, ignoring you and then lashing out like that. I don't know why I did that, but I want to apologize, I never wanted to hurt you, some boyfriend I am," He said, his mind replaying the scene over and over, he can't forget the hurt look on your face. "I'm supposed to protect you, not hurt you, so.. you can decide if you still want me or not, I'll respect your decision," He said, "I– You know I still love you so much Akaashi, of course I want you back, but please, give me time.." You said, your heart feeling way lighter.
"Of course Y/N, I'll give you all the time you need, I'll be waiting," Akaashi smiles, he can wait for a lifetime, maybe even forever just to have you back in his arms.
「 Tsukishima 」
Tsukishima can't help but glance at your seat from time to time, it was empty, it's been empty for a week now. You weren't the type to skip school, but he guesses you have an excuse to not come anymore. How would Tsukishima let you know that he didn't mean all the shit he said? How would he let you know that it's always been you?
Even Yamaguchi started to make up excuses about not being able to hang out, Tsukishima fully knows that Yamaguchi would meet up with you, but he doesn't why. He guesses that it's to console you, but it's making him feel bad. Having his friend comfort you instead of him, but he can't really say much as he's the cause of this. So he'll endure it until he can't anymore, jealousy is an ugly emotion and he knows that fully well.
He's been seeing you and Yamaguchi together more often, sure it tugs at his heartstrings but what the fuck can he do? He's a coward that runs away from emotion and bottles them up until it comes around to bite his ass. That's exactly why that argument between you two happened in the first place, he's been dealing with personal issues with college and his life that he ended up bursting it out on you.
"Nothing I do is ever good enough, fuck," He curses, as he misses another ball. "Are you alright Tsukishima? You're usually not this distracted," His teammate asked, "It's nothing, just tired, let's get back to practice," He replied, not wanting to answer anymore questions. His teammate seemed to have gotten the message and left him alone, "How about we go eat out tonight? My treat," Their captain suggested, "Sorry but I think–" Tsukishima was going to decline but the captain insisted.
So now he was getting dragged to a barbecue house, what Tsukishima wasn't expecting was to see you and Yamaguchi at the same restaurant as he was in. He couldn't turn away, you looked so much happier with Yamaguchi, would it be right to let you go? Should he keep fighting? You sensed someone staring at you for a while now, but when Yamaguchi leaned towards you to whisper, "Tsukishima's here, what do you want to do?"
"Nothing, I'll be perfectly fine," You said, minutes had passed but you've grown more and more uncomfortable with the amount of staring Tsukishima's done. This is so strange even for you, Yamaguchi sensed your uncomfortability and suggested that he walks you home. "Sure, I need to get back home anyway," you answered, Tsukishima was sure as hell that he's not gonna get another chance to talk to you unless he does it now, so he takes it.
"Tsuki?" Yamaguchi said, "Can we talk Y/N.. in private?" He asked, trying not to sound as desperate as possible, you stayed quiet for a couple of seconds but ultimately deciding to hear him out. You two step out of the restaurant, the streetlight flickering above you two. The atmosphere was tense, a little bit awkward, your gaze bounced all over the place, from his trimmed bangs, to his brown long coat, then back to his eyes.
"I'll keep it short, I'm sorry, I'm sorry I was inconsiderate of your feelings and how I didn't think about my words before spewing them out. I'm sorry for making you feel like you weren't enough, cause you were more than enough, and I feel like I should've shown you how much I appreciated you more.. but I couldn't, and I.. I'm sorry," He finished, his eyes unwavering, that was the Tsukishima you knew. His jaw was clenched, most likely to stop himself from crying.
You felt the sincerity from his words, that was more than what you wanted. "Thank you Tsukishima, I accept your apology, but.." Tsukishima was hooked on your words. "I'd like to be treated out for food so that I can see that you're really sorry," You said, obviously joking, but half not really. Tsukishima lets out a small chuckle, there was the y/n he knew. "Of course, pick any place and I'll pick you up tomorrow," Tsukishima said, starting tonight, he'll work hard to be the man you deserve.

Rune translations and Bottom theories (I did my best!) (: It's long! I mean REALLY REALLY REALLY LONG!!!! You've been warned. (Potential TWs below the cut) yeah Hyoga doesn't have a good time here.
I should probably start calling Hyoga "Hyouga" instead since I'm pretty sure it's spelled with a 'U'... but I probably won't. Apologies.
Bottom English translation by Tackmyn Y! (I can't speak Japanese, again, apologies, though I was able to make my own version of Autophagy)
Potential TWs (I dont want to harm anyone by going on this rant): Autophagy (medical terms), nightmares, demons tormenting a guy, Hyoga being unhealthy in more ways than one, mentions of death/murder, self esteem issues, mentions of destructive behavior, manipulation, violence.
Yeah, my boy Hyoga ain't having a good time in this theory.
I feel the need to clarify that this is all speculation. So uh. Everything here is just what I've been thinking about since I hopped into this rabbit hole.
Sinfan (I'm not sure what order they go in, it's quite hard to tell):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
["Death"
"I"
"Revive"
"Spirit"
"I"
"Something with shape"]
I'm not fully sure what "something with shape" means, but there's a possibility that Sinfan could be referring to Hyoga, (a doll/wax figure) or maybe that Sinfan needs something with a shape to be able to exist. Sinfan could need a vessel to stay on the mortal plain and go undetected while staying alive.
Sinfan needs a vessel. And with that thought, it launches into indecipherable theory crafting.
Hyoga summoned Sinfan when he was 12 years old. Thinking he found a vessel, he called upon Pabometh, another grey demon, to help torment Hyoga so the two could get their wish.
Hyoga, at the time, is young, dumb and susceptible to manipulation, meaning it could be easy for Sinfan to grasp the situation with an iron grip which follows Hyoga into adulthood.
"Revival" could also be referring to "Rebirth," symbolized by a butterfly. It could also mean that Sinfan/Pabo has the powers to revive people. Maybe as a last resort if they need it.
In Hiiragi Kirai's album trailer on Youtube, Hyoga shows up in a scene with 'D' and 'B' in calligraphy on each cheek. They could mean "Death" and "Birth" respectively.
Lines from Autophagy:
"I just wants a peaceful life." Likely means Hyoga wants the demons gone so he can live how he wants to. (Who wouldn't?)
"The voice inside my head? Huh... how odd." Also implies that the demons are still with him.
"My body pulses, memories from my past bringing pain." Means that in Autophagy, Hyoga remembers his past, but it hurts him.
""You can't avoid it in life, so it's best to just deal with it." You say, but you dont seem bothered." Is most likely Sinfan talking to Hyoga. It could also mean that Hyoga can't avoid the demons, so he should just deal with it.
"I can't stop now, so pretend nothing happened!" Could be Hyoga trying to ignore the demons, or maybe he did something he shouldn't have. (Always knew those were prison tattoos...)
"I want to wash my skull out! I want to say bye bye! But yet I didn't do it..." Could mean that the demons are still with him in Autophagy and likely still tormenting him.
"I won't stop, I can't look back." Might mean Hyoga is trying to move on, but with the demons still in his head, he can't, so the "Let me forget!" after the instrument solo might be him wishing that he never remembered in the first place and trying to get the demons to take them away again.
"Just stay away from me!" Could be Hyoga distancing himself from everyone he knows, or trying to get the demons to go away.
"Hello! HAHAHAHA Hello! HAHAHAHAHA!" Might be Hyoga as he slowly loses his remaining sanity due to constant tormenting and pressure from the demons.
"A A A A- 'Allo/Allow/Arrow" could all imply different things, so I'll give a short on all of them.
"'Allo!" Is just an abbreviation of "Hello."
"Arrow!" -According to a quick google search- is a common symbolism for peace and philosophical ideas, and used for protection and hunting. It could mean that Hyoga just wants peace and quiet, which is enforced by "I just want a peaceful life." in the beginning.
"Allow!" Could mean that the demons are trying even harder to bend him to their will and take him over as a vessel. They want Hyoga to allow them to posses him so they can do whatever they please.
Pabo only has 2 that I can see:
Tumblr media
["Nightmare"
"Save (?)ime"]
It might be "time" but I couldn't make out the rune symbol there.
"Nightmare" hardens my thought that Bottom is just a massive nightmare set up by the demons to torment Hyoga, that the song is sung from the perspective of one of the demons (likely Pabo), and that Young Hyoga(tm) in the video is Pabometh playing the part of his repressed/forgotten memories.
This is all assuming the song is, infact, sung by the demons.
Lines from Bottom:
"You're keeping me alive! Today, today, you're killing me!" Could go both ways (Pabo/Sinfan and Hyoga) For Pabo it could just be another variation of the next line I'm about to talk about.
For Hyoga it could mean that he wouldn't be able to function if he didn't have the demons (Sinfan might posses him to make him fit in so nobody notices, keep him from dying from mortal wounds, and he's lived with them so long he might not know what to do without them), but with them he's slowly tearing himself apart from the inside out due to their constant tormenting. Metaphorically or literally is anyone's guess at the moment.
"Autophagy" (his songs name) is a medical term for "self eat" which normally happens when your body is starved, so it eats it's own cells to survive as long as it can. It can also correlate to certain diseases. Autophagy in these terms might also be referring to emotions. It's possible he's been stewing in any sort of negative emotions to cause such effects. (I.E: Guilt, fear, self worth issues,) which could make his resolve weaker, making it easier for Pabo and Sinfan to torment him/possess him. The longer it goes on, the closer he could be to self destructing.
"A wax figure/a doll is keeping me alive/killing me." Is more related to the demons in my eyes. "Wax figure/a doll" is likely referring to Hyoga. Hyoga could be their only tie to the mortal realm, (Sinfan being more prominent because he was summoned first, and by Hyoga himself.)
It could also mean that they need to inhabit his mind/body in order to survive and make it easier to torment Hyoga. If they both are in Hyoga's mind 24/7 while he suffers from nightmares (which cause lack of sleep, keeping his body in a perpetually weak state), no self worth, and a fragile mental state ("I wanna keep you out of my fragile mind!") while he tears himself apart, it would mean it would be harder to stay with him without something happening.
Due to that, it's likely that the very thing keeping them alive and in the mortal realm is also killing them at the same time.
It may be worth mentioning that a line in Bottom is "You think you're a god to me?" while 9lore translated Rinen's (Möbius') tattoo on his chest, which reads "Be still and know that I am god." It could a a coincidence, but I thought I'd mention it just in case (:
Throughout the entire song the demons are mocking and belittling Hyoga. (I.E: "Defying all logic, you're nothing but evil." "You're so stupid! You scumbag, scumbag, scumbag!") Most of the angry rant type of thing happens when Young Hyoga (tm) is on-screen. (It could be a tactic to make Hyoga not want to remember/manipulate his memories/tear down his resolve even more/or just plain upset him.)
"I mean, who, who, who are you?" It's been made clear that for the longest time (according to WOOMA) Hyoga didn't even remember his own name. "Who are you?" might be Pabo trying to get into Hyoga's head and make him question his own sanity.
"What the hell are you to me?" Implies that Pabo also want Hyoga to question why Pabo is here. Sinfan was summoned by Hyoga, but Pabometh was likely summoned by Sinfan to help tear down Hyoga. That means the two don't have much history, and Hyoga most likely doesn't know why Pabo is here for awhile.
It's "you to me" instead of "me to you" so Pabo could also be trying to get Hyoga to try and notice him in a positive way so that the nightmares stop. I'll expand on that some more a few (a lot) of paragraphs down.
"Inside my heart is- such a rage! Such a rage! So I'll grab you, grasp you, and crush you flat!" Is a line I find interesting. It also leads directing into another line; "The symptom of the unforgettable emotion is my burning intent to murder, which is absolutely right." Pabo would likely be talking about Hyoga, which implies that if he could, Pabo would murder Hyoga himself, but since the "wax figure" is needed to keep both him and his accomplice, Sinfan, alive, he can't.
It also implies that Pabo is extremely angry with Hyoga, for a reason I can't particularly pinpoint, except maybe for the fact that Hyoga's becoming more and more unstable and not safe for Pabo and Sinfan. The only problem is, it's Pabo and Sinfans fault he's like that. They're the ones that chose Hyoga as a vessel while simultaneously destroying him.
However, it's possible that Pabo's aim was to devoid Hyoga of anything and everything, (I.E: memories, emotions, etc. etc.) so that he was just that: a vessel. But with Hyoga being so destructive to himself, the whole plan could have gone awry and Pabo's only thought was how furious he was at Hyoga for messing up his chance to be in the mortal realm undetected for good, meaning he wishes he could destroy Hyoga and just get it over with so him and Sinfan could wait until someone else summoned them so they could take advantage of that.
""How deplorable you are! How deplorable you are!"" Is a line that has a chance of Hyoga himself having said it due to it having quotes on it. It also implies that he he could be fighting back, so his resolve might not crushed completely. However, a show of strength like that would likely just enrage Pabometh even more than he already is. It also doesn't help the positive impression he wants Pabo to have of him.
"You're involving yourself with me again like a clingy, clingy neighbor!" Sounds like Pabo, again, insulting Hyoga. If we go off of another part of this fever dream I've cooked up, (Hyoga not knowing what to do without the demons, but with them destroying himself), sounds like Pabo doesn't want to be with Hyoga anymore, going as far as hating him so much he's festering in it.
The "again" makes it sound like Hyoga's tried to communicate with them more than once, being unsuccessful each time. Hyoga could be trying to latch onto them, either to take them down with him or trying to get the nightmares to stop. Like I said, for a while Hyoga could have been trying to get positive attention and make Pabo like him.
"The low-end is going to manipulate me." Could be Pabo addressing that he knows what Hyoga was trying to do and calling him out for it.
"Brimming with momentary anger, rot away quickly, quickly, quickly!" Again, Pabo is talking about his burning hatred for Hyoga.
"I'm always losing! How, how dare you!" Implies that even with all the nightmares and torment, Hyoga has just enough willpower to keep Pabo from getting his wish, angering him even more.
And finally, a line from Autophagy:
"Oh, rise seeds of evil, bursting with malice!" Might be Hyoga finally giving into the demons and becoming their vessel if they take away his painful memories and stop hurting him.
Pentagram:
Tumblr media
["-r Guide(A) N(?)E A(?)R"
"The ability to know wh-"
"Grant me the power to be strong in spirit-"
"Grant me the wisdom to understand-"]
With it over Pabo, it's possible that this was the one that summoned Pabo instead of Sinfan, although with it also under Hyoga, it could be Sinfan's. Who knows, it might also be boths.
In the ending scene with the pentagram, the colors of the other songs are visible, meaning that it's possible all of them are connected.
(I could go on for hours about the small loopholes that I think mean all the songs are connected in specific ways. Either way I know they're all from the same universe.)
With all their colors on it, it might mean they all have a demon of their own.
I'm still working slightly on the pentagram, I'll probably keep ya updated if I can find out what the rest of it says (:
If anyone can find the full version (preferably readable) of the pentagram, that'd be lovely (if it even exists)
(If you find more runes in "Bottom" or another Hiiragi song I'd be happy to see if I can translate it (: I'm not very good though, and I can't speak Japanese-)
English translation of Bottom used by: Tackmyn Y (I don't know where you are but you're a lifesaver)
Find any spelling errors, let me know! I'll see if I can fix 'em (:
If you read this far, what're you doing??
Have an absolutely amazing day!!! <3

DISNEY'S "GARGOYLES" SEASON 2 QUOTES RP MEME
Why do you read that stuff?
I like a man who brings me weapons.
Nice wake up call.
We won't have to find them. They'll find us.
Revenge, as they say, is a sucker's game.
I'll settle for tearing this jerk IN HALF!
Want to see me use both hands?
That's no way to treat a lady!
That was no lady.
Thanks for saving my bacon before it got fried.
Look, just promise you'll call if there's trouble.
Go ahead, try something!
I'd love to do that again!
That wasn't a tranquilizer dart.
It was loaded with a mutagenic formula!
You don't know anything about her!
Why are you stomping on my friend here?
I was particularly proud of my death scene.
You never let me drive.
The important thing is, you're alive.
Are you sure this is a good idea?
Something's not right here.
Then you leave us no choice!
How are we supposed to find them?
Please, I beg you, be quiet.
This isn't a good idea.
I'm best qualified to go.
My memories are clouded.
Why should I trust you?
If you can't trust me, then trust your heart.
Why do you fight me, my love?
We are destined to be together for all eternity.
I will choose who I love!
Now we'll see what this creature looks like up close.
Why stare at marks on a page when you can rent the video?
Well, I can't read and I don't think I'm missing anything.
Harrier jets! They can take off and land like helicopters. When your life's this exciting, who needs books?
Are you all right?
I had a little trouble.
This beach isn't safe after dark.
Do you need a doctor?
Come on in. I've got a fire going.
There's little I can offer in return, except my thanks.
You understand, I don't get any real pleasure from this. Well you've got courage, beastie. I'll give you that.
Funny, something about your voice made me think you were a soldier, once.
You were there.
I'm old, but I'm not that old.
I'm glad you came back.
I'm afraid I can't stay, but I think I left something on the terrace this morning.
Have you come across a large canister?
The name sounded phony.
I do know him, but he's not a friend!
A magic book?
They're worthless. No magic at all.
The written word is all that stands between memory and oblivion.
Without books as our anchors, we are cast adrift, neither teaching nor learning.
Books are lighthouses erected in the dark sea of time.
Is this how you welcome all your guests?
They have a sense of humor. You have none.
Yeah, I know, you're as relieved I am that everything's back to normal.
Wouldn't it be great to be a shapeshifter?
Well, let's just get this over with, shall we?
How can I be of service, hmm?
Out with it. I haven't got all night.
I'm sure you'll fit right in.
What is it you really want?
This just might be fun after all.
I thought everyone knew this.
Shapeshifters, elves, fairies, you mean they're real?
You mean, you thought I was ugly?
I want you to get rid of the humans. ALL of them.
Does this look like Aladdin's lamp? I have limits, after all.
Humans love a battle hearty.
I'll never get the hang of jumping off rooftops.
I'll always be there to catch you.
Do it, and you win your freedom.
It will be my pleasure. But afterwards, I'm going to need a very long nap.
There. You're free.
The sun, it's glorious! I never thought that it could feel so good.
I'm sorry about the bomb. But it proves how dangerous this case is.
When someone messes with your partner, you're supposed to do something about it.
You still haven't learned that crime doesn't pay.
A trade?
Let's just say, I don't trust you with it.
So, now you know my weakness.
Only you would regard love as a weakness.
A momentary lapse, I assure you.
Halloween! Tonight is the night!
Come on. I've wanted to stroll down a city street with you for a long time.
Marry me.
Are you serious?
We're genetically compatible, highly intelligent, and have the same goals.
You could've been hurt. I should've been with you.
Oh-well, spilt milk. Let's move on to plan B.
Don't listen to him. It's a trick! He couldn't tell the truth if his life depended on it!
Even if what you say is true, why should I help her?
Because you know what it means to lose some you love.
Not a good night for you.
You can't believe anything he says.
If someone like him can love, perhaps there is some hope for this world.
Take this as token of my love.
Upon this I pledge my heart to you forever.
Why do you need all this?
I wanted it, so I took it.
It's so unlike you to attack first.
I simply invited you here to talk.
Our past encounters have not inspired me to trust you.
It's crazy to even consider going!
I'm not interested in reminiscing!
Have you no respect for anything?
Believe me, I know exactly how you feel.
I will never be like you!
I do not wish to hurt you.
I do not wish to be you!
What am I to do?
Do nothing.
Do not worry.
Live in the moment.
Attend the petty angers and jealousies that fill your heart.
Fortify yourself with love and trust.
Fulfill the vows of love you make, for they can surely save you.
Time travel's funny that way.
Get away from me, you sentimental fool.
It's a pretty good likeness.
You know more than you're letting on.
T'was your handiwork.
very life is precious.
Take care not to become what you fight against.
Vengeance begets only a further cycle of more vengeance.
Do you want vengeance or a solution?
This is bigger than either of us has ever faced.
We'll have to work together to stop her.
Truce?
You are the cause of all this.
Humans will learn to respect you.
I would rather they fear me.
What are you doing to help?
That's one way to settle an argument.
I thought I'd rid myself of you long ago
You've forgotten about me.
You're too late. You can't save them. No one can!
I'm not here for them. I'm here for you.
I want it over between us!
I wear this as a reminder of your treachery.
Let's not start that again. You blame me, I blame you. Aren't you tired of talking about it?
I'm not here to talk.
Killing me will gain you nothing but your own death.
Death is never the answer. Life is.
I'm just so tired
Your thirst for vengeance has only created more sorrow.
I offer you one last opportunity for forgiveness and mercy.
I merely offer a sample of what you planned for me.
You have learned nothing.
I will still have my revenge!
What do we do with them?
You come in handy now and then.
I'm quite glad the plan worked.
I'm no hero, I just do my job, and my job for tonight is over.
All I want to do is hit the sack.
Why would you want to hit a sack?
How long was I out?
Even shadows must be true to their shade.
We don't need to wait for sunset.
Is it supposed to hurt that much?
Just get on with it.
Recognize the woman?
She seemed familiar, but I just couldn't place her.
You're getting real good at bypassing alarms
Don't give me credit.
It was too easy!
Maybe misery loves company.
If you're human, then you're subject to human laws.
Either way I win!
I fear no human!
There are forces at war within me.
I will return some day, if I can.
You sound like every human employee I ever fired!
Crush all of them together and you couldn't squeeze one iota of personal integrity from the lot!
No excuses, creature!
Learn to take responsibility for your own actions! And STOP whining!
Oh, I am trembling in my chair.
You believe I am not responsible. Yet I remain your prisoner?
Who said you're not responsible?
It doesn't matter that you were tricked, you know now that your actions inflicted grievous damage. Do you take responsibility for them or not?
Well, what are you going to do?
You seem distracted, having second thoughts?
We'll celebrate over breakfast.
No more excuses. I accept full responsibility for my actions. I was wrong.
Integrity is never easy. It's a daily struggle, a costly struggle.
I know I owe you a great debt for the mistake I made a year ago.
If the text wasn't new to me, it was at least worth revisiting.
All I know is I'm about to be wiped out!
It doesn't have to be that way.
I can break these chains. But only you can get me past the bars.
Automatons know nothing of betrayal or honor. They know only what they're programmed to know.
Only living beings possess the ability to change, and make new choices.
You've given me much to consider.
We are friends.
I'd rather not have your death on my conscience
You'll never reach the bridge!
You have two minutes until impact, one minute before I detonate.
I don't want any innocents hurt!
If it goes down, I'm going down with it.
I knew you wouldn't let me down.
Yes, well, you have that effect on people.
I built this company for you!
I'd probably give it to you, if you'd just stand up and ask me for it honestly!
Asking for it wouldn't be any fun at all.
'Fun' is still more important to you than honor. I can't understand that.
Well, maybe you'll have better luck relating to the next generation.
You should've heard him laugh.
Made my hair stand on end, if I had any.
Surely you know I am not in the habit of playing childish pranks or laughing maniacally in the dark.
Do you even know how to laugh maniacally?
Don't tempt me.
Typical. You do and do and do for them, and what happens? They twist the knife in you!
I think I've created a monster.
Have you ever considered the bounties of genetic engineering?
Or maybe cybernetics is more your style?
Save the horror show for Halloween.
I'm sure tired of taking punishment, and I'd love to be able to give some back
That's the source of the trouble.
I hope you not planning to eat your catch.
Now that I'm in charge, I'm not taking any more of your cracks!
You're barely our species!
I'm in charge, here!
I find him very attractive.
Well, that's sicker than usual.
I'm a partner in a freak show!
I should'a figured it was crazy to stick with this crew
And if you play it smart, there'll be plenty of lettuce for everyone!
I should get my own cable TV show.
Oh, me and my big mouth.
It is the cure! It has to be!
Of course it's the cure! You must trust me!
It was you all along! I trusted you!
You turned me into a monster and I defended you!
I'm sorry it had to turn out this way.
You always overplay your hand
Tell me something' Why me?
You're old, and getting older.
I thought you might even appreciate the opportunity.
Growing old terrifies you, doesn't it?
Nothing terrifies me, because nothing is beyond my ability to change.
True immortality isn't about living forever, man; it's about what you do with the time you have.
When all your scheming's done, what will be your legacy
You're still alive! It's a miracle!
Boy, the city sure is different when it snows.
Not a bad life, all things considered.
There is a cure. There must be!
You can't keep me in here forever!
I'll get out! Do you hear? I'll get out!
About time you came back.
Why did you kidnap me? What do you want of me?
See, it wasn't as hard as you made it sound.
Ah, you wish to be immortal.
If the procedure is successful, I'll release you.
This is just a sculpture's model. The real thing is life sized, and lifelike.
What's in this for you?
Service is its own reward.
I wouldn't even know where to start looking.
You may as well be of some use to me.
Open this cage, and I'll show you how 'useless' I am.
It's hard to top that.
What you seek demands a heavy price.
Death and old age have their price as well. And it's too expensive for me.
Without your sword, you're helpless.
Swordless? Maybe. Helpless? NEVER!
What you choose to do with your life is your own affair, as long as it's got nothing to do with me.
You're just full of surprises.
No, let him go. He's earned it.
I wish it hadn't turned out this way.
I was so close to finding out if the legend was true. Now there's no one to test it on.
Throw down your weapon!
Is this a whole city of fools and lawless ruffians?
I'm the law here, pal!
You are a guardian, like myself.
I will submit to your law.
You are learning.
It will take some time.
Prepare to do battle!
I have no fight with you.
What is this, merit badge test night?
Oh well, better make sure it's an uneven fight.
The weak are to be protected, not exploited.
Aaah, who died and made you king?
If you don't know anything, why were you shooting at us?
Do I really need an excuse to have a good time in my own home?
They say a man's home is his castle, and what fun would a castle be without a dungeon?
If it gets any more saccharine in there, I'm going to put a finger down my throat.
I'd sure like to know how you got here, but I'm programmed to shoot first and ask questions later.
I demand a favor.
Death is always pointless. That is the point.
I demand reparation! My son was cruelly and unfairly taken from me!
Death is the ultimate fairness. Rich and poor, young and old - all are equal in death.
Our planet cannot support so many lives at once.
I apologize for any trouble I caused in my efforts to reclaim it.
It seems I'm out of practice dealing directly with mortals.
It seems I am unaccustomed to dealing with a god
We have all gained rare enlightenment this night
Mmmm, what a peculiar sight.
Now, that's odd.
Do you often go wandering about at night, young lady?
My dear, are you saying you don't remember your own name?
I can't seem to remember anything. I feel lucky I know how to talk.
How did I end up in the middle of the Pacific?
I guess I could use a ride
I thought you looked familiar. We've met before.
Do you know what a scroll is?
Get your claws off me!
You might want to reconsider your request.
We're gonna die!
I will not let anything harm you.
You win. I'll behave.
I cannot believe you pulled the trigger on me.
Just shut up and land.
I just don't remember! I'm not even sure I want to remember!
I understand your words, I simply do not believe them.
You have been long expected.
This trough is filled with acid. In about ten minutes its going to do a very nasty job on that soil carving, not to mention your rugged good looks.
It's my first real stab at clichéd villainy. How am I doing?
How are you doing this? No machine can hold me!
I should sue you for trademark infringement.
I've always considered myself a trickster at heart.
History cannot be changed.
You will not win!
What are you going to do? Bite my kneecaps off?
I know from experience the transforming power of a child's love.
The future is not written yet.
I have a sunny disposition and I'm always kind to animals
I've always respected you as a fellow inmate
He's a fool, but he may be useful.
I can work with that!
Now, now! That's your friends' genetic make-up you're insulting.
You are master now?
I should've known. But why this subterfuge?
Hey, I live for subterfuge!
I do not want escape, I want vengeance!
There's no such thing as "a little" vengeance.
No catches. No tricks. No strings.
So, things have come full circle.
You know how I feel about you, right?

Electrified (Rise Up part 2) - Gil Grissom x Reader
youtube
(A/N:  An answer to a question that you might ask later:  yes I had to.
@addictedtostorytelling sorry this took so long. I had to take a lot of breaks when writing the last part...)
Many weeks went by. The one of you went over to the other's house more often than before, and you held each other every morning. With the increased physical closeness, the both of you became closer emotionally as well.  The public displays of affection increased in frequency and intimacy.  Well, 'increased' for Gil and you.  To other people, it was normal.
There came a time when the both of you were standing in the centre of Gil's office. You two were holding each other's faces, laughing softly as your foreheads were leant against each other. Your fingers gently moved over Gil's beard, letting the hairs slide in between and rub your fingers.
Catherine was passing by the office.  Gil and you did take notice of her, but did not stop what you were doing.  She was one of the many who had gotten used to the unfamiliar but not unwelcome openness between you two; the two of you were the most closed-off people on team graveyard. But this, this closeness of your faces - this was something new. All the other touches: hugs, kisses on the cheek, rubs on the shoulder, and so on, could all be put down as platonic gestures. And they were sparse enough not to indicate anything deeper than friendship.  So this was indeed new.  Plus, Gil had excellent work ethic.  He would never allow himself to be in a relationship with his subordinate...or would he?  She turned sideways to slowly step into the office and asked, "Just what is going on with you guys?"  You were still staring at each other, but both knew she had her investigator's look and stance on, and they had heard it in her voice anyway.
No warning, in a flash of light
Don't need no warning, this feeling's right
Vibrations chill through my bones
Sensations flow through your glow
So incredible
The way I feel we do, so phenomenal
And you always push me through, unforgettable
The way I feel with you, unbelievable
How you always push me through

"Oh, is there something going on between us?"  you smirked at Gil.
So incredible
So phenomenal
Before Gil could respond, Catherine interjected, "Okay, that's a yes, because you never flirt." But the poor woman was ignored again.
Electrified-ied
Electrified with you
"Only if you want there to be," he grinned in return. Catherine's eyes widened - it was only on very special occasions that Gil graced anyone with such a bright smile. Acknowledging the cue, she turned and walked out to let you two have your privacy.
That threw you off your feet.  If your heart was not thumping hard before, it was now.  "Y-you're sure?" Was he really...?
"I'm sure," he whispered, one hand stroking your cheek now to reassure you.  Knowing you well enough, he let go of your face and pulled you into a hug, voluntarily pushing you to bury yourself in him. "I will do everything I can to help you adjust to your new sleep cycle. I promise." He could not see you smile, but maybe he felt your tears soaking through his shirt. He definitely felt how tightly you were squeezing him.  "Do you think Catherine has told anybody else?"  he murmured.
You shook your head, even though it was still against his chest.  "She is more respectful than that."
You felt him nod in silent agreement.  "We should tell them, then," he put to you.  It was your turn to nod.  Still holding onto you with one arm, he reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone.  He texted Catherine, 'Could you help us gather everyone in my office?'  The reply came in quite soon after he sent his text.  'Of course.'
I'm pulsing, in a flash of light
My eyes convulsing, this feeling's right
Vibrations chill through my bones
Sensations flow through your glow
So incredible
The way I feel we do, so phenomenal
And you always push me through, unforgettable
The way I feel with you, unbelievable
How you always push me through
Electrified-ied
Electrified with you
Electrified-ied
Electrified-ied
Electrified with you
Electrified-ied
Electrified with you
A few minutes later, all the CSIs, plus Hodges, Al, David and Jim (who was conveniently in the lab) were standing in a semicircle in the office. Gil and you were facing them all. "(Y/n) and I have an announcement to make." Everybody waited patiently for him to continue. "W-" He turned to look at you, and you did the same.  He hesitantly took your hand in his. "(Y-y/n) is gonna have to change shifts," he almost gasped, eyes wide and mouth open, gaping at you.  What a way to put it.  Glares from Catherine and Jim kept Hodges quiet.
So incredible
The way I feel we do, so phenomenal
And you always push me through
Electrified-ied
Electrified with you
You pulled yourself together and turned back to your audience, taking over from Gil, giving him time to compose himself. "Yes...well..." you raised your held hands; Gil seemed unconscious of it still, "we're gonna try being together.  I'm...I'm gonna miss working with you guys.  I hope that we can still see each other.  But," here you smiled briefly from one side of your mouth, "you won't be able to reach my at my address for much longer. You'll have to go to Grissom's."
They were all smiling at each other. Hodges stepped forwards. "I think I speak for everyone when I say that I'm very happy for you guys. We've all noticed how close the both of you are, and we're glad that something more has come out of it."  Everyone else just kept quiet and waited for your response.
You smiled at Hodges.  Then you continued, "I'll be on the night shift for a while longer.  Until I can get used to my sleeping hours getting thrown forward."
Hodges turned to look back at everyone, then at you again.  "Can you stop holding Grissom's hand for a second?"
You raised the hand that Grissom was holding and ran his own hand along his beard.  His eyes flickered to look at yours.  "Let go," you smiled.  He did so, but his movements were still robotic.  You stepped a little distance away from Grissom to let him recover.  "What is it, Hodges?"  The Trace analyst hugged you.  You accepted hugs more readily than Gil, so this was nothing new.  You smiled and returned his embrace. Each person present took their turn congratulating Gil and you.
9am+-:
Gil and you were in his room, chatting. Pacing helped you think, so you were walking around the room while remained seated at the foot of his bed with his feet on the floor. At one point, you backed up against the wall next the DVD shelf, facing him. "...so that's what I think," you concluded as you leant on the wall. You put your hands behind your head and interlaced your fingers. Instead of responding however, Gil just stared at you with a distant look in his eye, and yet seemed to be concentrating on you. "Uh...Gil?"  You did not move.
He stood up and approached you.  He did not stop walking even when he was fifteen centimetres from you. Your heart and breathing rates heightened and your pupils dilated, but you remained still.  He put his hands on your forearms and pulled them out to the sides if your head, until your arms were perpendicular.  He pinned you against the wall with his hands on your wrists and stared down at you with such a burning intensity that you had never experienced before. Your breaths came in soft gasps, and yet you could not tear your gaze away from his.  His eyes momentarily shifting downwards, he released your wrists and placed his hands on the wall on either side of your waist. Even then, your arms were still stiff against the wall. Not breaking eye contact with you, he leant in and kissed you. You gasped and flinched in shock when his lips first touched yours, finally blinking. Still he pressed his lips to yours, and in fact he was pressing his entire body onto yours, his eyes finally closing when he did that, tilting his head to one side slightly. You let your eyes close as well, your arms relaxing and coming down to lightly hold his upper arms. But you did not kiss him. You remained perfectly still as you just enjoyed the feeling. You had forgotten about the fact that he had been in relationships before until now.  Oh well, at least the awkwardness was only on your end.  Your inexperience did not put him off.  He patiently kissed you, making sure that you felt comfortable. His hands turned and pushed themselves in between your back and the wall to push you closer to him, so that your hips were pressed against him while you leant back so that he could continue kissing you.
When you first gasped for oxygen, he detached his lips from yours, but rubbed his forehead and nose against yours.  The both of you inhaled and exhaled through your mouths, chests heaving with each breath.  He regained his breath first.  "You okay?"  he muttered.  His first words after he first kissed you was to ask of your well-being.  How touching.
"Y-yeah..."  you assured him, rubbing his shoulders.
"That's good..." he whispered, forehead still on yours.  He pushed you against the wall again and hugged you protectively.  You sighed and relaxed on him.
He took advantage of your lax state to manhandle you and bring you to the bed.  You shuffled a few steps, but he supported most if your weight.  He lay you flat on your back, and assumed his previous position of pinning your arms beside your head. His knees were on either side of your thighs. Once again, he fixed you with that sizzling gaze. "How...how do you keep doing that?" you panted.
"Doing what?" His gaze still did not let up.
"Let me touch you," you begged. He placed his hands on the bed. You raised a hand and gently brushed it over his eyes.
You removed your hand and he looked at you again, but not quite so intensely after you mentioned that it unsettled you. "Do you know how long I have been wanting to do this?  To even be this close to you?" Your heart throbbed a little at his earnestness. Before you could respond, he kissed you again.  You held the back of his head with both hands, and tried to return his kiss this time.  But this kiss was brief.  He pulled his lips away almost as soon as he starter.  "Eight years," he breathed, forehead and nose on yours, eyes closed, again.
You let out a little choke before saying, "That's as long as I have been in love with you."
"Good."  His voice was still breathy.  It was honestly thrilling; you had never heard him like this before.  He pushed the lower part of his face down and kissed you again.

I felt my dreamscape fading as I realised somebody was shuffling next to me, eventually making me open my eyes tiredly. I realised it was Kara, evidently uncomfortable, trying to find a comfortable position. I groaned quietly, trying to wake myself up a little more so I could ask her what's wrong.
       "Sorry," she whispered, sounding exhausted.
"Mmmt's okay," I mumbled incoherently, before motioning for her to come closer.
She instantly moved towards me, tucking her head into the crook of my neck. I wrapped my free arm around her waist, resting my hand on the slight exposed skin where the hem of her shirt was. I heard her breathe out contently and I pressed a gentle kiss to the top of her head before trying to fall asleep again.
That morning, I ended up waking up before Kara, so I did my usual boring routine before deciding to cook some breakfast for us both. It didn't take long and by the time I was done, Kara walked into the kitchen area, a sleepy smile on her lips.
"Good morning," she said, approaching me with open arms.
I accepted her hug with a smile, kissing her cheek before saying, "Morning, sleepyhead. I made breakfast."
"I can see that," she noted, staring out at the island, where everything was. "You didn't need to do that."
I ushered her to take a seat as I said, "It's nothing special unfortunately. Just some eggs and whatnot. Buuuuut I figured since I'm here, I may as well make the effort. It might make you reconsider about us moving in together."
Kara sighed, massaging her forehead with discomfort. "Y/N..."
"If it's about staying in your flat, I'm completely okay with it," I added hopefully. "I mean, of course I'll miss my place, but if it means I get to see you every day then it's worth it, right?"
"Y/N, please, not today," she said, giving me a pleading look. "I'm just... I'm not in the mood."
I breathed out slowly. "Right, sorry."
Kara and I had been together for almost two years and I had proposed the idea of us moving in together a few months ago, since we pretty much spent most nights together anyway. I was instantly met with rejection, Kara claiming she wasn't ready. At first, I respected her decision, hoping it was just nerves and she'd eventually come around, but I was still waiting for the latter to happen.
I served up breakfast and the two of us sat there in an awkward silence, until I finally decided to say something.
"We still on for drinks with my friends after work?" I asked, glancing up at the quiet blonde.
Kara's expression told me everything I need to know - she'd forgotten. After swallowing a sip-full of orange juice, probably to buy time, she nodded. "Yeah, yeah, of course. I'll be there."
      "You sure?"
      She nodded. "Of course."
"If you're not up for it, it's fine," I said, giving her a knowing look.
"I said I'll be there," she promised, dropping her fork to grab my hand and give it a supportive squeeze. "I'm not feeling well, but I'm sure it'll pass. Sorry for being off this morning... you hate me?"
I gave her a small smile, unable to resist her adorable sparkling blue eyes. "I could never."

"...it worked out though because I got the promotion, so yeah, that's how I got here," Y/BF/N finished explaining with a bright smile.
"She says it so simply, but it took a lot of hardworking and perseverance on her part," her boyfriend, Hasan, added, making me laugh.
"Oh, shut up," Y/BF/N said with a blushing face, nudging her boyfriend in the arm.
I smiled at the two of them, admiring how cute they looked. I was having a long overdue catch up with my best friend and also meeting her new boyfriend. Well, they'd been together for almost six months, but he'd been on a business trip, so I was only just now meeting him. Kara was here, too, as promised, but she was acting a little off, worrying me a little. She was usually a bubbly personality, especially when it came to Y/BF/N, but all she'd been doing this evening was giving one-word responses and playing with my hand under the table.
"You guys want any more drinks? I'm gonna get another," I said, already standing up.
"Yeah sure, same again if you don't mind," Y/BF/N said.
      "Thanks," Hasan added, nodding.
"Same again, got it," I said, before looking to Kara. "C'mon, Kara, you can give me a hand."
She seemed reluctant, but nodded and allowed me to drag her away from the table and to the bar. I ordered the drinks as Kara spoke.
"Did you really need my help to carry two drinks?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.
I gave her a knowing look. "Kara, I asked for you help because I want to know what's wrong with you."
      "What do you mean?"
"Kara, you know what I mean," I said. "You're acting weird and the others are beginning to notice. What's wrong?"
She sighed, frowning and avoiding my eyes. "I don't really want to be here..."
"Here's your drinks, Miss," the bartender said, pushing two glasses towards me.
"Cheers." I nodded his way before looking back to Kara with worried eyes. "I asked you this morning if you were still up for it. And again before we came in here."
"I know, but I just don't feel well," she admitted, giving me an apologetic glance, "and you were really looking forward to tonight."
I grabbed her hand, squeezing it gently. "Kara, I'm sorry if I made you feel like you had to come tonight. That wasn't my intention"
"You didn't," she reassured, meeting my eyes.
"Well, either way, I think we can call it a night," I said, giving her a small smile.
"You don't have to leave just because of me-"
"It's okay," I cut her off, grabbing the drinks from the bar. "Come on. Let's go back to mine."
She followed me to the table and I set the drinks down before grabbing my jacket.
“I'm really sorry, guys, but Kara isn't feeling too good, so I think we're gonna call it a night," I said with an apologetic smile. "It was really great to catch up though, and of course, to meet you Hasan."
"Aw, okay, I hope you feel better, Kara," Y/BF/N said, standing up and pulling us both in for a hug. "It was nice to see you both again."
"Thanks," Kara said, forcing a small smile.
"It was a pleasure, ladies," Hasan said, giving us a quick hug. "Hopefully we can meet again soon."
"Of course," I agreed, looking between them, before putting some money on the table. "Drinks are on me. Enjoy yourselves."
Kara and I left the bar, only to find ourselves in some terrible weather. It was chucking it down, making us both stay standing under the the umbrella extending from the roof of the bar.
"Damn, okay, this isn't going to help with you not feeling well," I muttered, glancing out at the road to see if I could spot a taxi. I looked to Kara, saying, "Just wait here. I'm gonna try and get a taxi for us."
Kara nodded and I headed out from the umbrella, feeling the cold rain smack down on me harshly. I sighed and stood on the edge of the pavement, looking out to see if I could spot a taxi in the distance. Eventually, in the darkness, I could spot the familiar yellow bumper of a taxi under the nearest street lamp, so I raised my hand to get its attention. It flashed its headlights briefly, so I lowered my hand and watched as it came to stop by me, except as it tried to pull over to the side, its tyres skidded in the rain and propelled the car towards at me at a dangerous speed.
I barely had the chance to register what was happening because everything moved so fast. One second I was stood at the edge of the pavement with headlights beaming at me, and the next I was on the wet ground, trying to understand why people were shouting around me.
"Miss, are you okay? Can you hear me?"
I looked up and saw a stranger trying to help me stand up. I looked around with confusion, only to see a few people gathered around a body in front of the taxi. A few more people were helping the taxi driver out of his cab and I realised that I was about to get hit, but someone had pushed me out the way. Wait a minute...
"Kara?!" I yelled, shoving the stranger out of my way to see if Kara was where I left her, but she wasn't.
I immediately ran over to the body in front of the taxi and felt my heart drop to the pit of my stomach when I saw the state she was in.
"Kara, oh my god, no, Kara," I cried out, kneeling by her side.
She was bleeding from her head, it soaking into her wet hair. The rain was washing the blood into a puddle all around her, which made me see the odd angle her leg was twisted in.
"Please open your eyes," I begged, my own eyes blurring with tears. I cupped her face, hoping she'd wake up, but I knew it was impossible. I leaned down and held my breath, hoping she would breathe to let me know she was alive. After what felt like forever, I felt a tickle against my skin, and I sat up with relief.
"We've called an ambulance, Miss," someone said from behind me, but I couldn't formulate a response because I was too focused on how pale Kara was getting as each second passed.
The ambulance arrived soon enough, but I couldn't remember the specifics because it went by in a blur. They were hooking Kara up to a bunch of machines and it was frightening me, seeing her look so vulnerable. I must have called Alex at one point during the ride because when I got to the hospital and ushered to the waiting room, Alex was already there.
When she saw me, she immediately came to give me a reassuring hug.
"I'm sorry, Alex, I don't know why she did that," I rambled out, feeling the guilt sink in. "She said she didn't want to come and I shouldn't have made her because then we wouldn't be in this mess. I'm so sorry."
Alex grabbed my arms and looked me in the eyes. "Y/N, calm down, it's okay. You can't blame yourself for what happened. But I need you to listen carefully, okay?"
I nodded, still feeling discomfort in my gut.
"I'm going to talk to Kara's doctors and get her transferred," she explained.
I furrowed my brows. "Transferred? Why would you do that?"
"I'll explain after, I just need you to stay calm and know that Kara will be okay."
I shook my head. "Alex, she looked really bad. I'm scared that... I don't know."
"I promise you she's going to be fine," she said confidently. "Now, I'm gonna talk to the doctors and when I get back, we're gonna take a drive."
      "Alex-"
"Trust me, Y/N," she said, giving me a slight nod before leaving me standing in the waiting room, wondering what the hell was happening.
Alex returned, as promised, and she led me to her car before driving us to God knows where. I tried to get some answers out of the older Danvers sister, but she refused to budge and insisted I'd find out eventually. So, I was left to worry about Kara's life and wondering why Alex was so sure she'd be okay. It was her little sister and she didn't even seem concerned?
We reached our destination soon enough and I grew confused as I saw how secure this location was. I'd probably walked by this building so many times, yet never questioned its existence. I'd apparently never noticed the armed guards at the doors either.
"Come on, this way," Alex finally spoke when we left the car.
I sucked up a shaky breath and wiped away at my tears as I followed her through the building. The guards by the door seemed to know who she was as they straightened up with respect and let her pass. We took a lift up to which Alex seemed nervous, glancing my way every now and then. I desperately wanted to ask her where we were and if Kara was here, too, but I knew she'd give me the same response each time, so I stayed quiet.
Finally, the doors opened and I widened my eyes with surprise, taking in the vast room before me. There were people dressed in uniform all around, some at control panels and their attention focused on the giant monitors on the wall, others walking around with serious expressions.
I followed Alex like a lost lamb, letting her lead me up some stairs onto the balcony above. I tried to look around the room for a symbol or a logo - something that would tell me where we were, but I couldn't find anything distinguishable. I continued to follow Alex until we reached a room with glass windows, allowing me to see inside. I did a double take when I realised Kara was inside, laying on a bed, motionless.
"Kara!" I shouted, already running inside to her bedside.
I startled some of the (what I'm guessing are) nurses, as they moved out of my way. Alex waved her hand, signalling for them to leave.
"Why is she here?" I asked, worriedly, realising she wasn't in surgery or being treated for her visible injuries. "What's this...?" I motioned to the light sources above her, emitting some sort of yellow light on her pale skin. "She should be in surgery or something. Alex!"
I looked over my shoulder to see Alex stepping by my side, wrapping an arm around my shoulder and leading me away from her bedside for the moment. I wiped away my tears and waited for an explanation.
"I know you're confused and you're scared, but Y/N, I need you to listen to me," Alex spoke calmly, never breaking eye contact. I nodded as she continued. "As crazy as this sounds, you need to believe what I'm about to say. Kara needs you to."
"Alex, you're starting to scare me," I said, feeling shivers run down my spine. "What's wrong with Kara?"
Alex bit her lower lip before taking a breath. "Remember how I said Kara is gonna be fine?" I nodded as she continued, "Well, she is. She looks battered and bruised now, but it's because she exerted her powers and has momentarily lost them. A solar flare."
I stared at Alex like she was a ghost. "What the hell are you talking about?" I was convinced she'd lost her mind at this point. Maybe it was the shock of Kara's accident or something, but she was definitely not making sense.
"Y/N, Kara is Supergirl," she said bluntly. "The reason she's been off lately is because she's been agitated that she doesn't have her powers and she can't help people."
I gave her a confused look. "Alex, you sound insane!"
"Look, we're at the DEO," she continued to explain, not fazed by my judgemental expression. "I'm the director. We work to handle any extra-terrestrial threats invading our planet and we do that with the help of Supergirl."
I felt my heart rate increasing with every word she spoke. I could barely keep up with what she was saying.
"My parents adopted Kara when she landed on Earth," she explained, and I tried to understand. "She wears those glasses to hide her identity and to help with her x-ray vision."
      "X-ray vision?" I squeaked helplessly.
She nodded. "Yes. I can even show you the suit, but Y/N, I'm telling you this because I need you to understand that Kara will be fine. She's technically vulnerable like a human, but as soon as her powers come back, she'll heal with those UV lamps and be absolutely fine."
Alex searched my eyes to see what I was thinking. I stared at her, letting her words digest, before finally speaking.
      "Please tell me you're joking."
She groaned, before grabbing my shoulders. "Y/N! Look at her!" She twisted me around, forcing me to look at Kara. "She's Supergirl! You have to believe me."
I knew she was right, as much as I didn't want to admit it. If I admitted it, it meant that she didn't trust me with her secret and that she made me worry for her life when she would be fine this whole time.
"She didn't tell me," I finally spoke, my voice barely above a whisper.
I calmed down a little, reassured that she would be okay, but that didn't change the fact that I thought she was going to die not long ago. I felt like hot water bubbling over, trying to settle after someone turned the gas off, but I couldn't quite keep up.
"I'm sure she had her reasons, Y/N," Alex began sympathetically, but I cut her off.
"How do I get out of here?" I asked, tearing my gaze away from Kara and looking to Alex.
      "You're leaving?" Alex sounded surprised.
"She'll be fine, right?" I asked and Alex nodded, about to respond, but I rolled my eyes and gave her a sarcastic smile. "Of course she will be - she's the Girl of Steel! Now, how do I get out of here?"
"Y/N, come on," Alex tried to reason.
"Come on what? She didn't-" I swallowed the lump in my throat. "She didn't tell me. There's nothing more to say. Now, please let me go home."
Alex searched my eyes for something more, and when she found nothing, she sighed and nodded before leading me out. I glanced at Kara one last time, feeling distaste at the thought of everything that had just happened, before following Alex.
***
I found myself lounging on my couch the next day, sulking into a bowl of popcorn as I watched The Office reruns. I was trying to use the show as a distraction, but all that was on my mind was Kara. I tried to imagine her as Supergirl, remembering all those times I'd seen the hero on the news or flying in the sky. That was her.
All those times when she'd bail on a date last minute, or when she'd leave a date early... it made sense. Why she didn't like the idea of taking a mini vacation with me, or sleeping over at hers all the time. I thought it was a weird quirk of hers, or that she was insecure about something, but no, she was too busy flying around National City.
And that explained why she didn't want to move in together. She hadn't told me the truth about her, so moving in and seeing her act even more secretive would raise questions. Here was me thinking she was losing interest, but no, she was hiding a huge part of herself.
I constantly tried to wonder why she didn't trust me. I mean, almost two years of being together was a long time. I thought I knew everything about her and vice versa. Why was this any different? I could care less if she was an alien and she knew that, so what was the reason?
Kara let me believe she was human. Vulnerable, breakable and soft, like me. She got hit by a car and let me believe, even for a moment, that she could have died. That it would have been my fault that she died, or at least, suffered major injuries. She let my mind run around with those horrible thoughts and scenarios, let it break me apart as I watched her limp, bruised and battered body lying on the wet tarmac.
She didn't tell me the truth.
I groaned loudly and stuffed more popcorn into my mouth when I realised I was getting stuck in my thoughts all over again - the same thoughts that had kept me up all night. I tried to focus my attention on what was happening on the TV when I heard a knock on my door.
I rolled my eyes and glanced at the door before choosing to ignore whoever it was and wallow in my own self-pity.
"Y/N, I know you're in there!" a voice called from the other side of the door, and I recognised it as Kara's.
I clenched my jaw and ignored her.
"I can see you watching TV," she said in a hushed voice. "Please open the door. I have to explain."
"That must be the x-ray vision, right?" I called back, bitterly.
I heard her sigh. "If you don't open the door, I'm gonna come in."
"That would be breaking in," I reminded her, before getting comfortable on the couch. "Go away."
It went quiet and I assumed she'd listened, but then I heard a loud crack. I looked to the door with a puzzled expression and stared wide-eyed at Kara, who had twisted the door knob enough to break the lock. She stepped in and pulled a face at the slight crack in the lock.
"I'll get that fixed, I swear," she said quickly, glancing up at me.
"You can't just break into somebody's home like that!" I yelled at her, standing up to glare at her.
"You're not somebody," she pointed out, closing the door behind her, "and I told you I would come in."
I crossed my arms across my chest, narrowing my glare. Admittedly, I was taken aback by the lack of injuries she had. Or should I say absence of injuries. I knew Alex said she would heal like nothing had happened, but it was different to see it with my own two eyes. It was like the accident had't happened. The colour was back in her skin, her head wasn't bleeding, she was walking. She looked as good as new, save for the sudden super strength I had just witnessed. Another thing I should have expected but was still surprised to see.
"I have to explain myself," she began, carefully.
"Alex caught me up on everything," I said angrily, "Supergirl."
She frowned, looking down at her shoes guiltily. "I wanted to tell you, Y/N."
I raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Was that before or after you almost died? Because saving an important piece of information like the fact that you're fucking indestructible would have been nice to know before I thought you were going to die because of me!"
      "Y/N-"
"No!" I shouted, feeling my eyes grow watery at the reminder of last night. "You let me believe the worst, Kara! I thought you were going to die! You didn't see what I saw, okay?! There was blood and there- there were so many scratches and the puddle was turning r-red and I thought you were leaving me and it- it would be my fault because I made you come to see my friends and- and- and-"
"Y/N, it's okay," she cut in, moving forward to stand me up straight.
I was crying, I realised, my throat closed up and my vision blurred. I was too upset to push her away, and the warmth coming from her skin reminded me that she was here and alive and well, only intensifying my sobs.
"Y-you should have told me," I cried into her shoulder. "I thought you were going to leave me."
She wrapped her arms around me and squeezed gently, reassuringly. "I know," she agreed, her voice hoarse. I felt her nod several times as she said, "You're right. I should've told you. I'm sorry, Y/N. I'm so sorry."
I swallowed thickly, trying to get rid of the lump in my throat. "Why didn't you?"
She breathed out as I quietened down, managing myself the best I could. She pulled away, letting me see her glassy blue eyes behind her glasses. She pulled her glasses off, pocketing them, before rubbing the bridge of her nose and meeting my eyes again.
"It wasn't because of you," she reassured firstly. "It wasn't. I just kept putting it off. I didn't know how to say it and I never found the time. It's a stupid reason, I know. I wish I had something better. But I don't. I can only apologise, Y/N."
I pursed my lips in thought. Her eyes were darting between mine nervously and I tried to think what I could say.
"Do you hate me?" she spoke quietly, almost expectantly.
I felt her grip on my waist loosen as she prepared herself for my answer. I shook my head.
"I could never hate you," I answered. "I love you, Kara."
A hint of a smile ghosted her lips as she looked down, breathing out with relief.
"I want you to tell me everything," I continued, earning her attention. "I want to hear it from you."
      She nodded. "Of course."
"And I want you to be honest with me from here on out," I added, giving her a knowing look. "You can't hide stuff from me, especially when it involves Supergirl."
"I promise I'll tell you everything," she said with a nod.
I read her expression, sensing the honesty. Satisfied with my instructions, I moved forward and wrapped my arms around her shoulders. I closed my eyes, appreciating her presence, even if she pissed me off a little.
She returned the embrace, pressing a kiss to my neck before pulling me closer.
“You'll never lose me," she said quietly. "I promise."

Chapter 4: Leverage
Tumblr media
A week had gone by since Zera visited with her mother, Seth developed a plan to better her behavior in school. They spent lunch periods on worksheets and assessments in exchange for information from Seth about whatever Zera wanted. For the most part, they agreed and got along well regarding their little pact. They were both pleasantly surprised by how much they had in common.
"Zera, you are almost done with the page, come on. Remember the deal."
She groaned loudly, dropping her head on the page that was three quarters completed. "I hate doing this tedious work."
"If you finish it soon, we can get the assessments out of the way. I want to know how to properly tailor the help you require to get further in this system. As much as you don't like it, the humans value their schooling and make it practically a requirement to move forward in their world." Seth responded, drumming his fingers on the desk.
Zera lifted her head to glare at her uncle, then rolled her eyes. "I still don't get it. I don't like this. I'm only participating so I don't have to listen to Father's lectures."
"I'd honestly suggest you care a little more, you'll be able to open the doors so you can have better control of the world."
Zera stayed quiet for a moment, pondering the words prudently for a moment before nodding, "So I finish this, you tell me one thing. Yes?"
"Well, what is it you want to know?"
"I want to get into Heaven."
Seth was clearly caught off guard, "I...I'm sorry, what?"
"You heard me, I want into Heaven."
Seth stared at her, then huffed slightly. "Finishing a page does not equate to sneaking you into Heaven."
"Then what does?"
He opened his mouth then paused for a long moment, "No, nope. We aren't having this conversation, if this gets back to your father, he might-no he will have my head."
Zera giggled and stated, "You're scared of him."
"You seem to forget that he is not just my older brother, but also a well-known archdemon. A respected figure in Hell. In our worlds, both Heaven and Hell, everyone knows all that he is capable of." Seth patiently explained, but Zera was not impressed. "You are the only one who is questionably sane that would openly and readily challenge him."
"I take offense to that!" Zera huffed, "I am very much sane thank you." She then stuck her tongue out at him who rolled his eyes.
"Hun, you related to me, you are partially insane. You can blame genetics." Seth chuckled, smiling at her.
Zera lightened up a bit, giggling and enjoying the moment between her and Seth. Then she could hear Luz's familiar whispers in her ear, "Insist little one, you need to get in."
She cleared her throat as they settled down, "Please...I'd like to at least meet my grandparents, really. I want to go to heaven and meet my family."
Seth bit his lip hesitantly, "This is where I may have to draw the line, our family hasn't been together in eons. I'm sure your father would prefer to be present when you meet your grandparents."
"I didn't realize that he still tells you what to do. I thought you were both grown adults."
"I am a grown adult, and unlike you, I actually look like one." Seth glared, pointing a finger at her. "Little Miss One Hundred and something."
"Touché, however, we do age differently. Who knows how old are you Mr. Dinosaur." Zera giggled, amused by her uncle.
"Well, I'm not going to take you for calling me a dinosaur."
"So, you're going to keep me from meeting my extended family because of a preschool insult and homework?"
Seth sat there in complete disbelief and groaned loudly, "You manipulative little beat."
Zera smirked, "I've learned from the best."
There was something in Seth's eyes that Zera couldn't quite decipher. "Fine, fine. I'll help you get in, but for now, you'll only meet your grandmother."
"Why only her?"
"Azazel will be less angry when he finds out you only met Haniel. There was really no ill will between him and his mother." Seth explained then tapped the page, "Before we start that, you have to finish the packet."
Zera's lip twitched upward in a snarl, but she cleared her throat. "Done." She got to work and quickly completed the packet within about ten minutes, then pushed it toward her uncle who eyed her carefully.
"You had to complete it correctly Zera." He glanced over the first page which had nothing but wrong answers.
"Ah ha...That was not mentioned in the deal before agreeing." She smirked tapping her finger on the table expectantly.
Seth's face turned bright red, he growled. "You sneaky little-"
Zera giggled and cut him off, "Language Uncle Seth~" She then propped her head up with her hand on the table, "A deal is a deal."
He groaned, "Damn you are like your father."
The bell rang and Zera hissed, "Damn it."
"We'll talk later, I promise." Seth then stood and waited by the door as students began to enter.
Zera moves back to her corner seat as the students filed into the classroom and filled in their seats. One boy made his way to sit with the grouchy purple haired girl in the back. "You should smile more."
Zera looked at him, glaring. "You should sew your mouth shut."
He chuckled nervously, taking the seat by her. "You are just the image of a bright sunny day."
"You are the image of a parasite, let's go to the doctors." She spat; Seth eyed her warningly from the door causing her to pout. "Please refrain from distrusting me from the lesson."
"You never pay attention to the lesson."
"I'm trying to change my habits, now if you will." She opened her bag, pulling out a notebook and a fountain pen.
Seth made his way to the center after closing the door, "Welcome back class, please leave the energy from lunch outside." He waited for the chatter to settle down before beginning to explain persuasive essays. None to subtly, he glanced at Zera, "With persuasive essays, you must clearly explain the points for whatever the argument may be."
Zera couldn't help but giggle, and the boy feigned a gasp.
"Holy shit, she laughs." He whispered with a smirk, "Her smile is pretty too."
Almost immediately, Zera snarled and flashed her fangs at him. "Shut up, Janice."
He almost fell back on to the floor with a small yelp, "What the-!"
"Jordan! Zera! Must I separate you two?" Seth snapped, slamming a book on to his desk.
The boy returned to his seat nervously, "N-no Mr. Smith."
"Yes Mr. Smith, please move this twat from my space." Zera hissed and Seth's eye visibly twitched.
The students began to whisper and giggle quietly, "Zera, Jordan. Principal's office, thank you." He pointed to the door, she glared and stood. "No snarky remarks please Miss Blackwell, go on, the both of you."
Jordan stood and they both made their way to the door, Zera paused in the doorway. She looked at the teacher and ever so politely flipped him the bird. His face began to resemble a tomato, she finally left for the principal's office in a chorus of oohs from her peers.
Jordan looked at Zera, "Do you have to piss off everyone you meet?"
"Do you have to pester all of your classmates?"
"Only the interesting ones."
Zera rolled her eyes, "What is it exactly that makes me interesting then?"
"Where you come from."
"So, it isn't anything I've done that makes me interesting, it's only my background? You're interesting because of your stupidity." She glared at him.
"Your background makes up who you are."
"My background has nothing to do with me." She snapped.
"You're a real piece a work." Jordan huffed, crossing his arms over his chest.
"I would hope so; Rome wasn't built in a day. It's taken me a lot to be who I am." She walked off.
"Wait, the principal's office is this way!"
"I'm going to the lady's room first, 'less they want to up my piss." She lied, quickly losing him as she walked down the hall.
As she turned the corner to make her way towards the school exit, Luz's voice chirped into her ear, "Young lady, turn right around and march right back in there."
"What? Why?" Zera stopped at the large double doors leading to her freedom from this makeshift hell.
"Don't take your punishment for something small. If you get in trouble, make it worth getting punished for dearie."
Zera smirked and turned around, "Luz, I love you." She giggled as she made her way towards the chemistry lab, her eyes flashed a mischievous red in her reflection of the window.
"Now, where to little lamb?"
"This place is a figurative hell, I'm going to create a little chaos~" She tried to open the door, but found it to be locked. Zera growled and her eyes turned bright red while she kept her hand on the handle. There was a click and she pushed the door wide open.
"Atta' girl." Luz chuckled, Zera smirked and she produced a small flame in her hand. She stood on a table and put her hand towards one of the sprinklers in the ceiling. Once the fire alarm went off, she made her way out of the lab and blended into the crowd of students being escorted outside.
Once outside, Zera was able to speak off away from the students and faculty and left the campus. She began walking towards a plaza just a couple of blocks from the school. Humming as she arrived, she looked around seeing an interesting looking tattoo parlor next to a rather plain looking shop. She made a mental note to remember the tattoo parlor, then continue to look around until she saw a small coffee shop.
Zera began to walk closer when Luz spoke up, "Darling, you seem to have forgotten your bag at school."
"Luz. I have a nifty little invention called pockets, perhaps you've heard of them? They're mini bags inside your clothes." Zera remarked.
Luz chuckled and left her alone, as Zera reached for the door handle to enter the little coffee shop a pale hand grabbed her wrist gently. "Zera Blackwell, you are in extreme trouble."
Zera groaned loudly, looking up at Elijah, "How'd you find me?"
"The real question is; what on Earth were you thinking? Seth called me, telling me you've disappeared after the fire alarm was set off." Elijah took her hand and began walking away. "Of all the things, I've never thought you would have done something so irresponsibly stupid."
"I cannot believe you all thought it would be good to put me in a school full of idiotic, hormonal, and pathetic human infants." Zera snapped back.
"Lower your voice!" Elijah hissed at her, tugging her along. "Why are you behaving like this?"
Zera looked at Elijah deadpanned, "Just take me home Elijah, it seems my fun is done for the day."
Elijah stared at her in disbelief, then tugged her along towards the front door. They both walked in silence as they entered the home and were greeted by their overexcited hellhound, Ace. Elijah pulled out his phone and dialed a number as Zera started for the stairs. "Seth, I've found her. Yes, she's here with me, we're home." He paused and Zera glanced back curiously. "Very well, you can come by after school."
Zera pet Ace then went to her room and closed the door behind them, the hellhound made a beeline for her bed and Zera giggled. "Leave me some room goofball."
Ace barked back at her as she grabbed a book from her desk and sat beside Ace. She opened to the bookmarked page and stared, waiting for Luz to pipe up, but he did not surface. As time passed, she grew agitated and growled at the book.
There was a sudden knock, Zera put the book away as the door opened revealing Seth. "What the hell were you thinking?"
"What?"
"You are now suspended from school for a week, why did you set off the alarms?" Seth scolded, closing the door behind him.
"You didn't take my request seriously." Zera glared, Ace jumped up eagerly to greet Seth who merely waved him off.
"About you and Jordan? What was going on there?" Seth crossed his arms over his chest, tapping his foot expectantly.
"I'll kill him next time I see him, that's what." Zer a hissed, her uncle sighed.
"You acted out because you didn't like him?"
"He's a pest, vermin, a parasite that sucks out my patience."
"You had patience to begin with?"
Zera glared at him, "So I'm off school for a week then?"
"Yes, Elijah and Azazel are livid."
"Like I care, when will we prepare to go then? We do have a deal after all." Zera leaned forward, smirking, keeping her voice low.
Seth's eyes widened and he groaned loudly, "You clever little-..."
