Multi colored lights adorn the beams of the ceiling. Metallic streamers hang from the bar. Music is blasting from the jukebox. The Hard Deck almost looks unrecognisable.
It's New Years Eve, and The Squad have agreed to spend it together. Hangman, Coyote and Payback are at the dart board, allowing Jake to show off his talent. Bob, Rooster and Fanboy are convened by the pool table, taking turns to shoot, unbothered by who's meant to be sinking what. You and Natasha are standing by the bar, waiting for Penny to serve you when she gets the chance.
"So, come on, who are you kissing at midnight?" Natasha looks at you with a glint in her eye. Mischievous girl.
"Yeah. Right. You, if you're not careful," you warn her, teasing lilt in your voice. Honestly, you don't think she'd be the worst choice in the world.
"As much as I'd love that, I don't think the squad could handle it," she winks at you cheekily. "Seriously, who?"
"I don't know!" you laugh. But that's a lie. You do know. At least, you know who you'd like to kiss.
Jake Seresin. Hangman. America's Sweetheart.
Pilot, Texan, Heartbreaker.
Your friend, your teammate, the man you've been in love with since you met him that first day of basic training.
The two of you were partnered for the first few exercises that day, and you beat every other pair by a mile. You both figured out pretty quickly that you make a damn good team.
That hasn't changed. If ever you have to pair up for an exercise, a mission, or just a class, Jake's eyes find yours immediately. A silent question. Shall we? And your answer, always - of course.
You seem to have your own language, this shared communication. You don't have to speak to know what the other person is saying. On the ground, or in the air, you know each other's next moves. Predictable, but comfortable.
Maybe that's the problem.
You believe strongly that women are more than capable of making the first move. You've thought about grabbing Jake and kissing him stupid more times than you can count. But you don't. Every time there's an opportunity, you brush past it, let it go. Because the comfort isn't worth sacrificing. At least, that's what you're telling yourself.
Your friendship with Jake has been built on years of trust, empathy, and reliance. You know that no matter what, he'll have your back. He's demonstrated it more than once. Countless times. Showing up for you, without fail. When you were harassed by a man at the Hard Deck, Jake showed up. When you had a family member's funeral and didn't want to go alone, Jake showed up. When you broke your wrist and ended up in the hospital, Jake showed up. He was your North Star. Always there, always guiding. Always comforting.
So you can't help but repeatedly ask yourself - why hasn't he made a move? You're convinced you know the answer to that question, though. Because you're friends. He sees you as a friend. A teammate. Which you wouldn't change for the world, not by any means. But it doesn't stop you from wishing that maybe, just maybe, he wouldn't hold his cards so close to his chest. Just for a minute.
The Devil Himself sidles over to the two of you, still at the bar, and throws an arm over each of you. Natasha manages to wiggle under and away from him, but you stay put. You don't mind.
"Hey pretty ladies," he beams, "whatcha whispering about?"
"It's kind of impossible to whisper when you keep queueing Duran Duran on the jukebox at full volume, Hangman," Natasha barks back.
He laughs, a real, full bodied laugh that shakes both him and you, still with his arm slung over your shoulder. You laugh with him. It's impossible not to. His laugh is contagious, you think. Unavoidable. He laughs, you laugh. That's the way it's always been.
It's at this moment that Bob pushes his way through the crowd, grabbing Natasha by the hand.
"Phoenix, I need you. Fanboy doesn't believe you can do that pool trick you showed me last week. Come and prove him wrong!"
She grins at you, and allows herself to be pulled into the swarms of people, on her way to earn some respect.
You turn back to Jake at the bar, and see that he's ordered a beer, and your usual. Observant boy.
You take a sip of your drink, only for a drop to miss your mouth entirely. Maybe it's the alcohol, or maybe it's just his impatience, but Jake decides he's tired of waiting. He leans in to you, and slowly, deliberately, follows the journey of the drop with his tongue, from the bottom of your neck up to your jaw. He pulls back, and watches you with that gaze of his. Measured, careful. Adoring. Mischievous. Just so Jake.
You feel the heat rise from your chest and up to your cheeks, but you don't break eye contact with him. It feels like a confession. You're baring your truth to him, silently, and he's understanding. That shared language. You're both saying so much, without saying anything at all.
It's then that you realise where you are. The Hard Deck has somehow become even more crowded, and you keep being bumped left and right by people attempting to get to the bar. The music is too loud, the lights are too bright. You need a minute. As if he can read your mind, Jake speaks.
"Let's get some air. It's hot in here."
He grabs your hand, interlacing your fingers with his, and leads you out of the door, onto the deck outside.
The cool night air hits you both, and you sigh with relief. You allow the breeze to flow through your hair, to ripple your dress, to cleanse you of your worry.
Jake's still holding your hand. Tighter, now. As if he's scared you'll blow away. Or run away, maybe.
You lean into him slightly, and rest your head against his arm. He's warm, soft. He smells like Jake. Like love. Like home.
"You okay?" he asks. Always so worried about you. Attentive boy.
"I'm good. Just a little overwhelmed, I guess."
He starts to rub circles over the back of your hand with his thumb, grounding you. It's all so intimate, you don't know whether to pull him closer or sprint in the other direction.
He makes the decision for you - closer. He kisses your hair, and then rests his head atop of yours. You can hear the squad laughing and cheering inside, all of them completely unaware that out on the deck, two of their teammates are baring their souls to each other.
You have no idea whether it's been two minutes or two hours when Jake speaks again.
"You're the prettiest girl in that bar, you know." Then, he says, a bit quieter, "You're always the prettiest girl in the room."
He says it so sincerely, so earnestly, that you want to rip your heart out of your chest and place it in his hands. You want to give it to him so that maybe he'll finally understand - it's already his.
You don't know what to say, so you bring your interlaced hands up to your lips, and kiss each of his knuckles individually. He's so warm, so golden. Radiating light wherever he goes. Your North Star.
You both listen to the gentle crash of the ocean waves, sitting with the weight of the moment. It feels like with every second that passes, silent revelations are being made. As if the love, the feelings, the comfort, are passing through your hands and into his. You're quite convinced that you could stay right where you are forever.
Bury me like this, you think. Immortalise us here.
All of a sudden, the sound of a countdown breaks through your solitude.
Ten. Nine.
You smile gently, and look at Jake, to see him gazing down at you. Stars in his eyes. Cosmic boy.
Eight. Seven.
He glances inside, to see the squad all gathered together, arms around one another. His family.
Six. Five.
Jake turns to you, and cups your face in both of his hands. Those hands that have picked you up from the ground. Those hands that have wiped your tears. Those hands, so strong, but so gentle. That's him all over, though. Your gentle boy.
Four. Three.
He looks at you with promise in his eyes. You can understand, clear as day, what he's telling you. Life will never be the same, from this day forward. Neither of you can wait.
Two. One.
Jake leans in, and presses his lips to yours. He tastes like spearmint, and the future. One of his hands travels to the back of your neck, to pull you in closer. Now that he has you this near, he knows he's never going to be able to let you go.
Bodies pressed together as close as can be, you kiss him with so much love, you're surprised he hasn't fallen over. He's breathing you in, trying to commit this moment to memory. He knows he'll tell your grandkids about this. Hell, he'll tell any damn person that'll listen.
"Happy New Year, sweetheart," he murmurs against your lips.
"Happy New Year, lover," you whisper back against his.
Bright beams of light appear above your head suddenly. Explosions of color dance across the sky, illuminating Jake's face. You look at him, and feel the urge to burst into tears. He's not watching the fireworks. He's watching you. He's gazing at you like you hung the moon. You're looking at him like he's the North Star, guiding you home. And that's exactly where you are. Home.

If I'm already on the topic of the foxes and grown ups, let's talk about Kevin.
I think Kevin mellows out a lot by the time he goes pro. In part because there's not nearly so large an axe over his neck anymore, but largely because around his fourth year, when pro teams start seriously trying to recruit him, he realizes that his caustic and dismissive attitude towards his teammates can't really fly anymore. It's a Raven behavior, a label he's both disavowed and been disowned by, and most coaches are not his dad who will let him do whatever and kowtow to his expertise. He was an assistant coach for one semester, and never a captain. His behavior has a deadline and if he misses it, it might end his career. He's gonna need to make an actual effort.
And he wants to make the effort! He always admired the Trojans for their good nature, and while he is definitely a fox, he thinks he'd very much like being part of a more friendly team.
So when he signs on to his first pro team (the culmination of six weeks of studying various teams for play style, lineups, press reputation, and point stats), he feels ready to turn over a new leaf. If nothing else, he thinks he'd like to make more friends now that he doesn't have Andrew and Neil around all the time. And the team seems like a nice bunch! They're talented, driven, he can see how he can mesh with them.
This sentiment lasts him about a week.
"Put Neil on the goddamn phone," he says as he slams the door of his car.
"Kevin," his father says on the other end of the line. "We are at practice right now."
"I know, that's why I called you."
His father sighs in the way he does when he needs a few seconds to debate who he should blame for this latest headache. Then he hears a fist on glass on the other end, and a minute later the little fucker says "Kevin. How are you."
"I don't know how you did this or why, but I am going to fucking end you."
"Please be more specific." Smug little motherfucker. Kevin slams his foot on the gas and pretends it's Neil's neck. Though he eases up a bit when he almost tailspins out of the parking lot. He hasn't driven a car in six years, fucking sue him.
"Practice ended three hours ago, Neil. I am now leaving the stadium. Can you guess what I was doing in that meantime?"
"Rediscovering the lost city of Atlantis," Neil says, deadpan, and when Kevin goes to trial for homicide he is going to play this recording back for the court and they're going to call it justified.
"No, see, by the time Gotlieb started talking about Atlantis, I knew he was fucking with me. That doesn't salvage the two goddamn hours I spent trying to convince my teammates that the pyramids weren't, I shit you not, built by Napoleon." He pauses as he reconsiders what just came out of his mouth. "This was Andrew's idea, wasn't it?"
"Kevin, if you only talk to people about exy, they're going to think they can only talk to you about exy. Now your team knows you're an actual fucking person. Have fun with that."
Plague upon his fucking house. "Are you expecting a thank you?"
"You promised yourself you'll make more friends. I'm just holding you to it. So...yes."
Kevin doesn't say it, and he tells himself its because Neil doesn't need the ego. Somehow Neil hears him anyway. "Drive home safe, Kevin."
"Go get your rookies in line, Captain," Kevin says, and hangs up. He dials Andrew next; he needs to know just how much of Kevin's thesis Andrew turned into conspiracy fodder.

Found family anime recommendation list
I've been thinking about making this rec list for a while because found family is my absolute favorite trope, so this is really self indulging haha 🤭
these are just some of my personal favorites, but if you guys have more recommendations please add them!
(This list contains spoilers!)
1. Dororo- absolutely heartbreaking and beautiful. the two main characters, Dororo and Hyakkimaru, develop such a special and precious bond throughout the story, and what makes it even more interesting is that at the beginning, Hyakkimaru is not able to see, hear, or really communicate with Dororo, and he gets those abilities slowly throughout the story (through killing demons haha yes it's that kind of story), so it makes the development of their relationship really unique. Both of them don't have their actual families for different reasons, but I absolutely LOVE the familial relationship they develop!
2. spy x amily - everyone's new favorite family lol. I don't think I need to elaborate, I love the little family they've built. it's so cute how all three of them have their own selfish reasons to want to keep this family unit, but at the same time care so deeply (and obliviously) for each other, I love it! there's not a single character I dislike, there wasn't a single episode i was bored watching (so far). it's like the perfect found family - they found each other, and just created a family instantly haha. If for any reason you're still not watching this, you really really should
3. banana fish - ugh honestly it's hard to find words for this one, it's so so SO good, but also, watch at your own risk, it's been years and my heart still hasn't recovered. The relationship between the two main characters, Ash and Eiji, is so beautiful and touching and tender, and it's so satisfying to watch. Ash deserves all the love omg 😭 I love how they take care of each other, how it's obvious to everyone how much they love each other. and i hate how it ended but that's a talk for another time...
4. Run with the wind - ok so i think most sports anime have an aspect of found family - your teammates become kinda your family, and friendships and bonds are usually the main focus. but i think it's especially highlighted in run with the wind - it's a show about running a marathon, and it's in a university setting (which already makes it more interesting lol). i LOVE connections between the characters. here as well, there's not a single character i dislike. even king who i didn't really care about in the beginning, I grew to love so much by the end. and Haiji might be my favorite character of all times. like throughout all platforms, he's my favorite. he created this team and he made them a family and i just wish i had a haiji in my life, you know? 😭
5. march comes in like a lion - ok, so, this one is especially precious to me, and i think it's my favorite anime of all times. officially, the show is about a boy who plays shogi professionally, and it is a part of it, but there's so much more to this anime. I've never watched anything that handled depression, and the journey of getting better, in a more accurate way than this show. the main character, Rei, is an orphan, and has a really complicated life story. he meets these three sisters, and is kinda invited to be a part of their little family. the relationships in this show are so touching and tender, even when nothing sad was happening i found myself crying. the sisters basically adopt rei, and little by little help him heal some of his wounds. the visuals of this show are perfect, you can feel everything rei is feeling. the sisters' house feels warm and inviting, while other spaces feel cold and disconnected. it's brilliant. also, the show handles the different characters with so much care, you end up caring about them all. i can go on forever lol, it's a masterpiece.
6. kids on the slope - another brilliant show. this is a slice of life, and the focus is on the friendship of three teens in the 60's. i love this one because even though they all have families that play a part in the story, they still become like a family to one another. their relationships are so touching, and so realistic. it deals with jealousy and friendship and love and loneliness in such a realistic, relatable way. for example one of the boys gets really jealous when his friend gets a new friend, it makes him lash out in such an unreasonable way, but at the same time you can totally relate to what he's feeling, because like, which one of us hasn't been there, right? i really recommend! (Also, the music is absolutely fantastic!)
7. Umibe no Etranger- maybe some people would think this doesn't belong here, but i totally think that along with love, this movie is totally about found family 😊 the two main boys are both on their own, Mio because he was orphaned, and Shun because he lost connection with his family after coming out. throughout the story, they become each other's family and support system (especially if you keep reading the manga like i have hehe🤭). i love their relationship so much!
8. fruits basket - again, maybe it's not the main trope, but it's definitely very much there! tohru, who is left without a family, finds a new family in the form of the very dysfunctional sohma family, that cares about her immensely, while she also cares about them and helps them heal and break their curse. i never read the manga or watched the old anime, and i didn't expect this to be as deep and painful as it was, but honestly one of my favorite shows right now.
9. Poko's udon world - so! freaking! cute! is it a ploy to make people have families and kids? perhaps. do i care? nope. Poko is the cutest child character ever, and the parent-child relationship between sota and poco is so precious, this is the most literal definition of a found family lol- sota found poco and basically instantly adopted him. the story is really touching and cute!
10. Clannad + Clannad after story - ugh i don't know if I'm able to talk about this one again, as it makes my heart hurt. this is one of my all time favorites. i think even though it's a love story, above all else it's a story about family. i wasn't sure if it fits the "found family" category but decided it does. even before nagisa and tomoya get married, tomoya is basically adopted by nagisa's family. they take him in to allow him some distance from his father, and show him how happy and loving a family can be. Also, all the friendship in the story are meaningful and have a familial feel to them. throughout the show there's a lot of focus on the subject of family, which leads to the main characters creating their own new little family unit. if you've been living under a rock i must warn you, I've never cried this much while watching a show in my life. while the ending is a happy one (well... in a bizarre kind of way, i guess), there's so much pain throughout the whole show, it's overwhelming at times. still, it's so so good and i really recommend to give it a try! (please, get through the first season and get to Clannad after story, it's really worth it!)
11. Usagi drop- i also wasn't sure if this fits the found family category, as it deals with an actual family, but wth, it's my list i can do what i want lol. very sweet story about a guy who adopts his grandfather's 6 year old daughter when he dies (yes, his aunt, basically), when no one else in the family wants to take her in. it's very sweet, very touching. they slowly become a family, and he learns what it means to be a single parent, and what sacrifices he has to make (like getting demoted at his job so he'll have more time to take care of his kid). the show is very wholesome, but don't read the manga, as i heard it went in different, less wholesome directions.
12. kotaro lives alone- this show was a ride! i was expecting a silly show about a 4 year old boy who lives alone, and got a heartbreaking show about neglect and trauma. his neighbors become his family throughout the show, and come to love him a lot and take care of him, and their relationships are very entertaining and sweet. ngl, i cried a lot during this show. i do think it deals with some very triggering things, so you should check that before watching 😊
and.. that's it for now! these are the ones i thought about so far, please feel free to add your own recommendations! i would love to get more!

To your point that even before the end times, Rick knew Lori was checked out of the marriage. Even when it came to light she and Shane had been hooking up, he wasn’t super shocked by it. That contrasted with his devotion to Michonne. His absolute trust in Michonne. Just him somehow knowing that even after all these YEARS, she’s still his wife. He trusts she is still taking care of Judith, of the world they built together, honoring him and their relationship and their son. That’s his teammate even if they’ve been apart for so long. He never had that with Lori. And he doesn’t even know how much she is sacrificing to come find him. Seeing her again will ignite such a fire in him. Oh I love them. The soulmatism of it all.
This is the one. This is THE one. You are so fucking correct. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I really think Shane and Lori would have ended up hooking up anyway even if the apocalypse hadn't happened, and the fact that he wasn't surprised makes me wonder at all the moments the viewer never got to see. Shane and Lori maintained that they only got together because they thought he was dead, but that type of (fast!) connection doesn't just come from nowhere. So how many moment were there between them? How many lingering looks across the dinner table? How many stolen touches? At what point did Shane decide he was a better husband for Lori really? Because it wasn't when Rick got shot. Rick getting shot just allowed him to be able to make his move without consequence. Was it when Rick was venting about his marriage problems? Was Shane sitting there thinking about all the ways he would treat Lori so much better? There's so much context "missing," but only in the vaguest sense because SO much is implied just by the fact that they got together so quickly.
So now continuing on that thought and the difference between Lori and Michonne, it all comes down to Rick's ultimate security in the relationship -- security he has with Michonne that he couldn't possibly have had with Lori. And I don't know how long Rick and Lori were supposed to have been together before the apocalypse happened, but at this point, Rick and Michonne have been apart for longer than they were ever physically together, and that's still his partner, that's still his ride or die. He's still fighting to come back to her come hell or high-water because he knows there's something to come back to, and that's the thing that fucks me up. like. The world had to end for them to find each other, but they did find each other, and they're so fucking certain of who they are and what they have that even, what? almost or over a decade of separation has only made me them grow stronger? I'm chewing GLASS. knock me the fuck out i'm DONE.
It's also worth mentioning that Rick's body wasn't even cold before Shane and Lori were knocking boots, whereas Michonne hasn't been touched sexually or romantically (minus ONE KISS with Ezekiel) since he fucking "died." Like. Let THAT one sink in.

Introductions (first impressions are everything)
Well I never thought I'd be here riding the elevator up the Avengers tower where some of the team waits to meet me. When I say some I mean the ones who were happy to be getting a new team member. It seems that the announcement of my arrival wasn't as warmly welcomed as Fury thought it would have been. I guess a witch who is known for dabbling in dark magic isn't exactly what some people had in mind as a teammate.
At least I have Wanda who's been so warm and forthcoming with me about how excited she was to have another enhanced witch on the team. She's been amazing to train with but I'm a little annoyed that people underestimate my abilities when it comes to magic as Fury thought I was unstable and hadn't used the full range of my powers, which is kinda true, but there's a lot no one knows about me yet. Despite the not so obvious disdain of my teammates I'm excited to move forward and make amends for everything I've done during my time at Hydra. It still haunts me every now and again lingering in the deepest depths of my brain.
"Hey, are you ok? You seem lost in thought there." Wanda asks, breaking my momentary silence and placing a hand on my upper arm as a form of comfort.
"Yeah I'm just really nervous if I'm being completely honest." I say, laughing nervously shaking her hand off me. She gives me a reassuring smile and we both go back to our own thoughts.
I'm not quite ready for physical contact with others unless we're training or in battle. I've never been one for human contact on any level, I much prefer the company of animals which brings me to my first question about the new living arrangements at the Avengers compound. Can Hades live with me, Hades is my companion he's a black wolf I found during my entrapment at Hydra. He was a pup shivering out in the freezing climates and his mother had abandoned him, so on the odd occasions I got to be outside I'd bring him food and nurture him. Eventually we built a strong bond and he would give anything to protect me, as I would him. I don't tell people he's a wolf as they tend to go ballistic that he's a wild ferocious beast blah blah blah, so if anyone asks he's a husky.
I was fortunate that Fury's wife is a fellow animal lover and was happy to keep him with them even though I couldn't leave SHIELD during my mentoring and rehabilitation as they called it. She was slightly alarmed when I told her he only eats live animals but I told her that he will scavenge for his prey and she wouldn't need to provide for him. He is a solitary animal outside of our connection, hiding away from civilians and wondering eyes.
I'm once again brought out of my thoughts by the elevator coming to a stop, Wanda ushers me out and directs me to a meeting room where I spot Fury and Coulson standing at the other end of the table facing the door way, they seem to be debriefing those who turned up to greet me. As Wanda opens the doors all chairs and heads turn to us. Stopping all conversation.
"There she is, team this is Aspyn Davis she's 22 years old and is your newest recruit, as we've already discussed she's known as The Grey Witch and has abilities similar to Wanda and upon lab results we've found the super soldier serum running through her veils as well." Fury states.
"She's shown amazing progress towards rehabilitation and her training alongside Wanda. She still hasn't disclosed her past with us but we've found files from previous RECON missions that she was taken by Hydra at some point." Coulson adds, looking at me with dismay.
"She's also standing right here. Yes I'm Aspyn and to most of your disbelief I do actually mean well and want to help rid the world of Hydra and other similar organisations. Yes my magic can be dark but it's also light and I don't appreciate being labeled as evil before you take the time to get to know me." I argue, receiving a few looks of kindness and understanding.
"See I told you she was badass, Nat." Wanda exclaims.
"Well I can't speak on behalf of the entire team as some are apprehensive about your arrival to say the least but I think you'll be a wonderful addition. I'm Natasha or black widow but you can call me Nat, it's so good to have another girl on the team." Nat shares, a warm smile gracing her features.
"I'm Ironman, you can call me Tony. Welcome to the team, I'm sorry to rush off but I've got to go to another conference but please introduce yourself to the team and when I get back we can talk and get you settled into the compound." Tony states, hurriedly grabbing his belongings and rushing out of the room before I could say anything.
"I'm Captain America, call me Steve." Steve says, apprehension tainting his smile.
"Hi it's wonderful to finally meet you. I'm Peter Parker, my superhero name is Spider-Man but nobody outside the team or SHIELD know that." Peter said, he seems young and very enthusiastic.
"I'm Bruce." Bruce states, I know who he is out on the battlefield but I also know he isn't fond of his alter ego so I don't press for a comment there.
We go around the table like that for the next few minutes, people just introducing themselves whilst I simply nod and take in the names and faces. In the room is Rhodey, Pietro and Vision, all of which seem nice enough and I've already put an alert in my head to stay clear of Pietro as he seems extremely flirty and I'm not interested in breaking any rules yet.
"This is most of the team, obviously the Wakandans aren't here but you'll meet them soon enough but some of the others may avoid you as they didn't really agree to a new recruit. You're still yet to meet Sam aka Falcon, Bucky aka the winter soldier, Thor, Clint aka Hawkeye, the guardians, Carol Denvers, Doctor Strange, Wong and Scott aka Ant-Man. I may have forgotten a few other but they tend to do missions as per request and don't really hang around much. One of us will always be nearby to introduce you to anyone you don't already know. But I'll leave it to Tony to give you the formal run down and get you settled in when he gets back. Is there anything you want to know before we head off?" The Captain queries.
"Where are we going?" I ask.
"To the compound where most of us live together, some of the others are there at the moment so you may see them but otherwise it's best to assume they don't want to meet you yet." He explains, remorse filling his voice when explaining some people don't want me here.
"I assumed I wouldn't be instantly welcomed and I intend on proving myself to anyone but I won't accomodate their feelings of disdain at my presence." I address.
"That's understandable I've told them they should judge you based on your file or lack of one." He expressed.
"Putting all of that aside I do have a few questions about these living arrangements." I start. "Am I bound to the compound or can I come and go as I please? Are we allowed to have animals?" I continued.
"As per SHIELD's request you can leave the compound as you aren't a prisoner but you will have to be chaperoned by another Avenger for the first few months. About animals you are allowed to keep them on the compound but their your responsibility to take care of and are expected to be kept in your room depending on the animal or reason for having them. Bucky has a white cat named Alpine that you'll see anywhere he is and she's friendly but tends to stick to him. Why what animal do you have?" Steve asked.
"I have Hades he's a black..." I began, hesitant to tell the usual lie as I don't want to get off on the wrong foot so soon. "Admittedly he's a wolf that I raised from pup during my time at Hydra but he's loyal to me and will do as I command. He is a solitary animal and will keep to my room as wherever he is allowed to roam but he hunts live prey, so I may need to introduce him to Alpine so he doesn't hunt her."
"Hold on a minute you told me he was a husky!" Fury exclaimed, rage crossing his face before being replaced with a grimace.
"I'm sorry but I didn't think you'd let me keep him if you knew he was a wild wolf." I said honestly.
"Well thank you for being open and honest with us about his true nature." Nat thanked, a soft smile reassured me I had made the right choice.
"I'll talk to Bucky but he may not agree right away and may be against Hades staying in the compound." Steve admitted.
"Look he's a big part of me and I'd rather keep him close for my benefit and his own, I don't believe he would hurt the cat but it's a risk I'm not willing to take." I shared.
They all shared a look of sadness as they seemingly spoke to each other with their eyes. I'm guessing this Bucky character doesn't like me or want me joining the team but that's ok after reading his file and coming face-to-face with the winter soldier I understand his mistrust and I'm willing to give him the space and leeway he deserves.
The rest of the afternoon went by with the chatter of my arrival spread across the room I had a few individuals happy to get to know me better asking generic questions about my likes and dislikes. Nobody wanted to ask about my past to which I'm more than grateful as it's not something I'm willing to disclose. At about 5:30pm Steve announced he'd received a message from Tony asking us to meet him at the compound as the conference ran over. So they all went their seperate ways into their own vehicles and nobody spared me a glance so I was left in the reception area racking my brain for how I'll get to this compound that I can't locate. Until I felt a presence behind me and spun to find Wanda and Natasha walking out of the elevator.
"Ah they've done their typical male thing." Nat stated as if it were obvious.
"Sorry I'm I supposed to know what that means?" I asked.
"Oh you'll come to learn that the men on the team, minus a couple, tend to over look these things, such as forgetting you're new and probably don't have your own vehicle or directions to the compound." Wanda explains. "Don't worry you either get used to it or you prepare for their forgetfulness."
"Typical males." I scorn, rolling my eyes.
"Don't worry once you get to know the rest of the team you'll find the good ones are always happy to help." Nat adds.
"And who might I categorise as 'the good ones'?" I press, wondering if there's such a thing in a world full of egotistical superheroes.
"Well Scott who was mentioned earlier is nice and he's considerate, Sam is but he tends to come off like the rest, Thor is just a big goofball and then there Bucky and let me tell you his Mama raised him right." Wanda shared, believe me I know one of them is harmless after my history with him.
"Well it seems like one of them may not like me already." I stated.
"Look if you're talking about Bucky he means no harm, he's quiet and keeps to himself unless Steve is around. He may come off as grumpy but he'll warm up-to you after a while. Actually from what I know he's actually your neighbour on level 3, I think it's just you and him on that level as the rest of us that stay there are on level 5." Nat expressed, a soft expression on her face.
"Well thank you for the heads up I have no intention of confronting him or anything but I would like to get to know him as I would with all my other teammates." I said, honestly I really would like to see if he recognises me or not.
"We'll come on the car has just pulled up and we've got a fair drive ahead of us so let's get a move on." Wanda encouraged.
So far I really do like Natasha she's been very kind to me and seems interested in getting to know me not the superhero the world will get to see.
"Oh by the way Tony will probably go through this with you but since the whole accords thing we have had to keep a good social profile and we have team social media platforms that we post stuff on frequently. I don't know if you have have a phone or anything but I just thought I'd tell you that from here on your social media will be strictly monitored by our social manager who gives the approval for anything you post." Nat says.
"Yeah I appreciate that but I don't have a phone or any intention of getting one for personal use." I laughed, I find phones reclusive as it encourages assault in the online domain and lets the wrong people have an opinion.
"Well sorry Aspyn but Tony will definitely have a phone ready to go for you with the expectation that you use it to contact us at most occasions. Also on top of what Nat was saying you'll have to maintain a public profile by going to formal events and special occasions or parties." Wanda said.
I simply just nodded at that as I assumed there would be some nonnegotiable conditions for being an Avenger. I wouldn't mind having a phone but I won't use it for anything outside communication with other Avengers, even then I'd rather find them and speak in person.
The rest of the car ride was quiet except the occasional moments a conversation would appear like when they thought of something to share with me. Otherwise I was happy looking at the window gathering my thoughts. I need to remind myself sometimes that I have to speak with people and start the conversation myself otherwise they may mistake my silence for something else entirely.

A/N- thank you so much for reading this first chapter, I'm hoping to make this into a three part series and I have big plans for where this story will go. In the next one we will get to meet some of the other Avengers Aspyn will be living with and conflict may ensue but something else may begin to blossom as well. I don't have a strict schedule for posting yet but I'm hoping every two-three days if not daily. Let me know what you think so far and tell me what you want to see happen.

Stiles' fingers twitch as he works the string on his lacrosse stick. "You know when you're drowning, you don't actually inhale until right before you black out." He sits in the Guidance Counselor's office, Ms. Morell at her desk in front of him. "It's called voluntary apnea. It's like no matter how much you're freaking out, the instinct to not let any water in is so strong that you won't open your mouth until you feel like your head's exploding. But then when you finally do let it in, that's when it stops hurting. It's not scary anymore. It's actually kind of peaceful."
"Are you saying you hope Matt felt some peace in his last moments?" Marin asked.
"I don't feel sorry for him."
"Can you feel sorry for the nine-year-old Matt who drowned?"
"Just because a bunch of dumbasses dragged him into a pool when he couldn't swim doesn't really give him the right to go off killing them one by one. And by the way, my dad told me that they found a bunch of pictures of Allison on Matt's computer. And not just of her though. I mean, he photoshopped himself into these pictures. Stuff like them holding hands and kissing. You know, like he built this whole fake relationship. So yeah, maybe drowning when he was nine years old was what sent him off the rails, but the dude was definitely riding the crazy train."
"One positive thing to come out of this, though. Right?" She refers to Noah getting his job as Sheriff back.
"Yeah. Yeah, but I still feel like there's something wrong between us. I don't know. It's just like tension when we talk. Same thing with Scott."
"Have you talked to him since that night?"
"No, not really. I mean, he's got his own problems to deal with though." Melissa has avoided Scott since that night, still trying to process what she saw. "I don't think he's talked to Allison either. But that might be more her choice, you know." Allison has become withdrawn and angry, determined to take down Derek; she blames him for her mother killing herself because of the Bite. "Her mom dying hit her pretty hard. But I guess it brought her and her dad closer. I haven't heard from Y/n since then either. It's like- it's like she's avoiding me. Avoiding us. Jackson? Jackson hasn't really been himself lately. Actually the funny thing is, as of right now, Lydia is the one who seems the most normal."
"And what about you, Stiles? Feeling some anxiety about that championship game tomorrow night?"
"Why would you ask me that?" He asks as he uses his teeth to tighten the string. He seems to realize what he's doing and spits it out. "Ah. Uh, no. I-I never actually play. But hey, since one of my teammates is dead and another one's missing, who knows, right?"
"You mean, Isaac. One of the three runaways. You haven't heard from any of them, have you?"
"How come you're not taking any notes on this?" He lightly gestures to her desk.
"I do my notes after the session."
"Your memory's that good?"
"How about we get back to you?" He looks away and down at his lacrosse stick. "Stiles?"
He looks back up at her and shakes his head. "I'm fine. Yeah, aside from the not sleeping, the jumpiness, the constant, overwhelming, crushing fear that something terrible's about to happen."
"It's called hypervigilance, the persistent feeling of being under threat."
"But it's not just a feeling, though. It's- it's like a panic attack. You know, like I can't even breathe."
"Like you're drowning?"
"Yeah."
"So if you're drowning, and you're trying to keep your mouth closed until that very last moment, what if you choose to not open your mouth? To not let the water in?"
"Well, you do anyway. It's a reflex."
"But if you hold off until that reflex kicks in, you have more time, right?"
"Not much time."
"But more time to fight your way to the surface?"
"I guess."
"More time to be rescued?"
"More time to be in agonizing pain. And did you forget about the part where you feel like your head's exploding?"
"If it's about survival, isn't a little agony worth it?"
"And what if it just gets worse? What if it's agony now and then... And it's just hell later on?"
"Then think about something Winston Churchill once said: 'If you're going through hell, keep going'."
...
Y/n had been staying away from Stiles and Scott since that night. Bringing back Peter from the dead was insane and she doesn't even fully understand why she did it. But because she did she feels like she can't face them again until she does something, anything, to make up for it. So she's kept her distance from them. It's killed her, though, especially when Stiles would try to call her. Having to avoid him was the hardest part. Alan has tried to get her to talk to them, saying they'll understand. She knows they will, but she's still scared. Alan convinced her to at least go to the championship game that night and she agreed. Mostly because she's never missed one of their games before, even when Scott was just an average human and wasn't that good at lacrosse. Y/n stays on the sidelines and watches Stiles and Scott from a bit a ways away.
"Your dad coming?" Scott asks his friend.
"Yeah, he's already here." He glances back at Noah and Melissa sitting together.
"You seen Allison?"
"No, you seen Y/n?"
"Not yet." Stiles sighs and looks down. "She'll be here. I don't know why she's been avoiding us, but she's always been here."
Stiles nods and decides to change the subject. "You know what's going on?"
Scott sighs. "Not yet."
"It's going to be bad, isn't it? I mean, like people screaming, running for their lives, blood, killing, maiming kind of bad?"
"Looks like it."
"Scott, the other night seeing my dad get hit over the head by Matt, you know, while I'm just lying there and I can't even move, it just... I want to help, you know, but I can't do the things that you can do. I can't..."
"It's okay."
"We're losing, dude."
"The hell are you talking about?" Coach suddenly appears behind the boys. "Game hasn't even started. Now put on your helmet and get out there. You're in for Greenberg." He instructs Stiles.
"What? What happened to Greenberg?"
"What happened to Greenberg? He sucks. You suck... Slightly less."
"I'm playing? On the field? With the team?" Stiles is in disbelief.
"Yes, unless you'd rather play with yourself."
"I already did that today, twice." Y/n had been listening in and couldn't help the laugh that escaped her. He really doesn't think before he talks sometimes.
"Get the hell out there!" Stiles flails a bit as he gathers his gear and runs onto the field to take position.
"Oh, no. Why is my son running on the field?" Noah asked just as Y/n decided to sit next to the adults.
"Because he's on the team?" Melissa answers.
It seems to click as Noah gives her a look. "He is. He's on the team. He's- he's on the field. My son is on the field!" He stands up and yells. The other people just give him looks and Y/n gives him a clap as she sits next to Melissa. Noah sits back down.
Y/n looks at Melissa and she can feel her nervous energy. "I hope you're not scared of me." Y/n says quietly to her. "I know I'm a little different and you know that now, but I'm still the same Y/n you've come to know. That's just... Another part of me." Y/n gives her a little smile and decides to leave it there. Melissa looks at her and her eyes seem to soften as she thinks about what the girl said.
Y/n watches the field, excited to see Stiles get some actual time on the field. That's when she hears a voice call out to her friend. "Scott, can you hear me?" Scott picks his head up in surprise at the sound of Gerard's voice. "Ah, you can. Good. Then listen closely because the game is about to get interesting." Y/n tenses at the tone of his voice, the enjoyment he clearly has with whatever power he was wielding. She hates it and wants to stop listening, yet now it seems it's the only thing she can hear over the people around her. "Let's put a real clock on this game, Scott. I'll give you until the last 30 seconds. When that scoreboard clock begins counting from 30, if you haven't given me Derek, then Jackson is gonna kill someone." Y/n furrows her brows. Gerard is in control of the kanima now? That's not good for anyone. "So tell me, Scott, who's gonna die tonight? Should it be your mother, who so bravely came out to support you? Or the Sheriff, your best friend's father? Or how about the pretty little redhead who managed to survive the bite of an Alpha?" Lydia sat next to Y/n then. They shared a smile although Y/n's was a little more forced with what she was hearing. "Or perhaps the young witch, one of the few of her kind. Yes, I know about your other best friend, Scott." An involuntary shiver runs down her spine. How did he know? She's been so careful. "Or maybe one of these innocent teenagers with their whole life ahead of them? Or should I do everyone a favor and kill that ridiculous Coach? It's up to you, Scott. But you are going to help me take Derek down. Because if you don't... I'll have Jackson rip someone's head off right in the middle of the field and drench everyone you love and care about in blood." The ref blows the whistle, signaling the start of the game.
20 minutes go by in a flash it seems and the guest team has 2 points. Stiles somehow gets the ball, but is instantly tackled and the crowd groans. "He's probably just warming up." Melissa says.
Stiles struggles to pick up the ball on the ground, repeatedly saying he's got it when he's tackled again. "He's just nervous." Y/n explains.
"Plenty of time to turn it around." Lydia agrees optimistically.
"Totally." Y/n nods. Stiles goes to catch the ball only for it to hit him in the face guard.
Scott goes to get up and Coach catches him, yanking him back down. "Sit down, McCall."
"But, Coach, we're dying out there."
"Oh, I'm aware of that. Now sit." Scott sighs and Isaac sits next to him.
Scott looked at him in surprise. "You came to help."
"I came to win." Isaac smirks. "You got a plan yet?"
"No, right now it's pretty much just keep Jackson from killing anyone."
"Well, that might be easier if you're actually in the game. We have to make it so Coach has no choice but to play you."
"How do we do that? He's got a bench full of guys he can use before he ever puts me on the field." He glances at said guys. Then he gets an idea, looking back to Isaac who appears to have the same thought. "Can you do it without putting anyone in the hospital?"
"I can try." Isaac puts his helmet on and goes on the field. The game starts and Isaac rams down a fellow player.
"Lahey!" Coach yells. "Ramirez! You're in." He orders the next player on field. Isaac rams another player. "Murphy. You're in." Murphy goes on the field. More players are run down and Coach stands up to yell at Isaac. "Lahey! Seriously, what the hell is your problem?" Isaac just shrugs as the whistle is blown. Going through another round another player is knocked down, but this time it was Isaac who was run down by Jackson.
Scott runs on field to check on the Beta. "It's not broken." Isaac informs. "But I can't move it." Medics come with a stretcher. "I think Jackson nicked me 'cause I can feel it spreading."
Scott looks over at Gerard. "You wanna play chess, Scott? Then you better be willing to sacrifice your own pawns."
Isaac is taken off field and Coach gives Scott his helmet. "McCall. Either you're in or we forfeit."
"Okay." Coach walks off only to be replaced by Melissa.
"Hey, something's happening, isn't it?" She asked. "Something more than a lacrosse game?"
"You should go."
"Oh, I'm not going anywhere. And everything I said before, forget it. All of it. Okay? If you can do something to help, then you do it. You have to."
"I will."
Y/n frowns to herself. Although they weren't for her, she took Melissa's words to heart. Scott and Stiles get knocked down while playing.
Scott sits up a bit as Gerard's voice filters in over the crowd again. "Don't you know what you're really bargaining for, Scott? Haven't you guessed what the real offer on the table is? It's Allison. It's always been Allison. You give me Derek, and I'll let you have Allison." There's 10 minutes left on the clock meaning Scott only has 9 and a half to figure something out. Scott got up and started to run off field, Y/n catching him when she could.
"Scott, what's happening?" She asked.
"Gerard is going after Isaac."
"What can I do?"
"Just stay here and keep an eye on Jackson. There's not much time." She nodded in understanding and he ran to the locker rooms to help Isaac. She went back to the stands, taking her seat between Melissa and Lydia.
Five minutes are left and Coach notices Scott's absence, standing and calling for him. "McCall! Where's McCall?" On the field the opposing team knocks Beacon players down, one of them losing the ball. Stiles is standing alone in the middle of the field and the ball rolls to his feet. The players are confused at the missing ball, none of them seeing where it went. Stiles sees no one behind him except the goalie in his position. He picks up the ball and starts running to the goal.
Y/n notices his movement and she gasps. "He has the ball. He has the ball!" Stiles screams as the players start to chase him down field.
"Oh, crap." Noah cringes with worry.
Stiles hesitates a few feet from the goal, glancing back at the player horde. "Stilinski! Shoot it!" Coach orders. "Shoot the ball! Shoot it, you idiot!"
"Shoot it!" Y/n yells. Stiles seems to hear her and does as told, shooting the ball into the goal. The crowd roars with cheers, none more so than the father and girlfriend of 24 of Beacon Hills.
"I scored a goal?" Stiles asks himself. The score board changing in favor of Beacon Hills answered his question. "I scored a goal! I SCORED A GOAL!" Y/n screams her cheers for him, filled with joy at his personal victory.
After that he scored another goal and another and another, Y/n screaming happily each time. The team surrounds him and pats him in congratulations, but he's only half paying attention. His eyes drift to the stands where he sees Y/n smiling brightly and clapping for him, making him smile back.
Scott rushes through the crowd and to the end of the field, his eyes darting to the clock and seeing the last 30 seconds start to tick away. He looks over at Jackson who walks around the celebrating players to stand in the middle of the field, shedding his gloves and helmet. His eyes shift and claws come out. 3... 2... 1... The buzzer sounds, Beacon Hills has won the game.
Y/n rushes down to where Scott was and he looks at her in confusion. "Nothing happened. Nothing." Suddenly the flood lights go out, dousing everyone in darkness. Someone screams.
People start running and bumping into each other, rushing to get away. Some fall down the stands as they trip. It's all Y/n can do to keep herself up, the sudden rush of panic and the swamp of people disorienting her. She manages to find Scott as Melissa calls for him. "Scott? Scott, where are you? Scott!"
Scott seems to snap out of his disorientation faster and catches his mom. "Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine, I'm fine. But somebody is hurt. Somebody is down on the field."
"What?" A rush of fear makes Y/n's breath stutter, her mind instantly panicking about Stiles. The lights come back on and Coach is running to the group around the person on the ground, ordering them to move.
"Get out of the way! Move. Back off!" It's Jackson that's on the ground. "Move. Move." Melissa, Scott, and Y/n rush over as Lydia also runs to them.
"Jackson?" Lydia calls. "What's happened to Jackson? Jackson! Jackson!" She pushes a guy away to see the blonde on the ground. "Jackson, what's happening?"
"Can we get a medic over here? We're gonna need a medic!"
Melissa falls to her knees next to Jackson and leans down to listen for signs of life. "He's not breathing. No pulse."
"Nothing?"
"Nothing." She lifts up his jersey and they see blood on his undershirt over his stomach. "Oh."
"Oh, my God." Lydia gasps. "There's blood. There's blood." She starts to cry. Y/n takes her hand to try and comfort her. She's a bit relieved it's not Stiles, but Lydia cares about Jackson and she can imagine how that would hurt.
"Look." Scott taps Isaac and Y/n, gesturing to Jackson's bloody hands.
"He did it to himself?" Isaac questions.
Melissa looks up at Lydia. "Get down here." When she doesn't respond she repeats herself more firmly. "Get down here and hold his head. Tilt it up." Y/n lets go of Lydia as she gets on her knees and helps Melissa. Noah pushes past the crowd, glancing at Melissa doing CPR, when he notices something and looks around.
"Stiles. Where's my son?" He says quietly to himself. Y/n's head whips to him when she heard him. "Where- where's my son?" Noah still looks around and Y/n does too, the panic she felt earlier now returning even stronger. "Where's Stiles? Where's Stiles?" He questions louder, getting others' attention. "Where the hell is my son?"

This Fandom exhausts me…
I've had more than enough of some (many) of them reducing the characters to a single aspect of their personality and then having the total nerve to complain about it.
I swear to God, if I see one more post about Sakura accusing her of having a personality revolving essentially around Sasuke and then going on to accuse Kishimoto of sexism, I'm going to lose it.
It's certainly not Kishimoto's fault if their messed-up minds have fundamentally reduced a character like Sakura, a young girl with dreams, aspirations, doubts, insecurities, steely determination, and a warrior attitude, to some kind of appetizer for Sasuke.
It's not Kishimoto's fault if they took her insecurities, her pain of always being left out, her low self-esteem, her guilt about her team, her relentless struggle to measure up to her teammates, and minimized it to fit their absolutely absurd headcanon of her.
It's not Kishimoto's fault if they reduced a character like Sakura to her love for Sasuke. It's a part of who she is but by no means all she is.
And it's certainly not his fault if they have fundamentally built a Fanon version of her in their heads that has absolutely nothing to do with her real character. The worst part is that when she doesn't meet their exaggerated expectations, they are the first to scream sexism and bad writing (which always go hand in hand).
The only sexist thing I see here is that they have turned a balanced, credible, and highly interesting character in my opinion into a one-dimensional character who lives only for a guy, and it's more than frustrating.
Sasuke has been the catalyst for Sakura's change, that's an undeniable truth and you'd have to be really stupid to deny it, but so what?
Which important character in Naruto hasn't been influenced by someone at some point?
It's literally one of the themes of the story at this point.
Naruto himself wouldn't have become half of what he is now if it weren't for Sasuke's existence, but apparently when it comes to Sakura fucking Haruno, it becomes "her life revolves around a guy".
I'm sure if it had been Ino (or any other woman for that matter) to whom Sakura had shown such a level of dedication, the tune would have changed.
The Fandom would have been like "aww their love is so beautiful" or "they are so cute" but since Sasuke has a pair of balls, the author is called crappy, sexist, homophobic, and full of other garbage like that because he didn't adhere to their headcanon.
As for Sasuke, it's the same.
The next asshole who talks about Sasuke as a cold, lonely, emotionless individual that half of this damn fandom wants him to be will face my bitchy attitude. Sasuke is not without emotions, on the contrary, he loves too much, feels too much (it's almost a curse for the Uchiha).
And what's with this bullshit about "Sasuke is a bootlicker for Konoha"?!
Because he decided to sacrifice years of his life to keep those he loves safe? (namely his family and his damn best friend?)
Because he didn't meet the screwed-up expectations that some of his fans and antis had/have for him, he's Konoha's dog now?
This fandom has turned Sasuke into at times some kind of non-conformist anti-Konoha rebel, at times into a selfish asshole, abusive and sexist slash shitty father (depends on which part of the Fandom you enter), when he is none of those things. They have removed (trampled on) all the complexity of his character just to advance their own dubious agenda and then have the complete audacity to insult Kishimoto?
Oh yeah, something else…
…In which manga is Sasuke dependent on Naruto? In fact no, in which manga is Sasuke even dependent on anyone…?
At what point is it declared - even implicitly in the manga - that Uchiha fucking Sasuke could be forced to do something he didn't want to do?!
The only person who has managed to manipulate Sasuke, even just a little, is his older brother, but besides him, who else can claim to have this right?
Absolutely no one.
Sasuke is a great character with agency and incredible character development, thank you very much. I don't care about people's ideas about him, I don't care if they ship him with this or that character or if they don't ship him at all, I couldn't care less about their fantasies about his sexuality, I just wish they would keep their personal grudges and their absurd headcanon away from his canon character, in other words his real character.
I don't see why some people are trying to turn his character into something he's not. If they are not satisfied with him as he is, good for them but they should stop twisting the official canon to fit their fantasy.
Sasuke is complex in many ways, but not so complex that it warrants adults to get his character characterization completely wrong. If they really want to overanalyze a manga for 12 year olds, they should at least do it well.

Merry belated Christmas y'all!
There's Klangst a fic under there \/
-----
When traveling through space, there's no sun to orbit that tells you how to measure your time. That's become an odd issue for the paladins. Luckily, the Altean's already have a database of quite a lot of planets' time measures. Apparently they needed it a lot for alliances. They didn't have Earth's time in there but Pidge was able to add it really easily.
That database is how Lance knows that Christmas is fast approaching for his loved ones back home. The team's trying to have fun with it and use this as an opportunity to teach Allura and Coran about Earth traditions but Lance doesn't really want to participate. It's not that he actually doesn't want to teach them but he'd rather be teaching them about Earthling traditions on Earth and doing it out in the cold vacuum of space is just a teensy bit depressing.
Ok, that's a lie. Everything about this is depressing. He's stuck in space while his family is celebrating and he's being reminded of it every time he leaves his room. They've put up faux holly-looking plants all around the castle. They're even doing a gift exchange. He's, of course, participating because Lance can't resist a gift exchange for the life of him but other than that, he's not actively part of the celebration.
His family probably think he's dead right now. While he's laying in this alien bed, feeling pathetic and homesick, they're either mourning their not-dead son or worried sick about where he could possibly be. They're probably using his terrible 9th grade school photo for a memorial.
All of this is bothering Lance much more than he'd like to admit. He's not the kinda guy who tells people how he's really feeling. Sure, he'll complain about things and he'll be open with his reactions but he keeps the depressing stuff inside. He doesn't want to bring down the mood.
If he did talk about his issues, nobody would take him seriously. Once he tried to tell Pidge and Hunk about his problems back in the Garrison and they tried to seem supportive but he could tell that they didn't really believe him. He's the upbeat energetic one. He isn't capable of being depressed like everyone else is. He knows that everyone around him has good intentions but he still doesn't feel comfortable.
He's stuck in the box that he's been put in which makes it so he can't be anything but the dumb goofball who thinks he's just as good as Keith. Every time he isn't excited about something, every time he's pessimistic, every time he's not overly expressive. It's like he's built up this mask and without it, he doesn't know who he is.
He *should* be excited about Christmas. That's why it burns so much. He can feel the weight of the expectations his teammates have for him. There's got to be something wrong with him. He's not acting "normal".
Lance would cry at this point but he hasn't cried in a while. He's found that aside from physical pain, it's hard for him to bring himself to shed a tear. As much as he wants to let it out, there's a part of him that won't let him. He's stuck.
That's when it happened.
Two really hard knocks in quick succession.
Keith.
Lance had learned that Keith knocked on his door the same way every single time. It's predictable, a pattern. It's how he knows that Keith's on the other side of that door, expecting to be let in. Lance doesn't want to let him in though. He's not going to let Keith try to unravel his facade. He's not going to let Keith give him one of his really bad talks that shouldn't work but work anyway. Nope. Not going to happen. He's just going to pretend he's asleep.
It's a shame his body doesn't agree. By the time he realizes what he's doing, he's already up and opening the door to let Keith in.
The door whooshes open to reveal Keith's stupid, handsome face and his stupid mullet.
"Hey Lance."
"Hi."
"How are you?"
"I'm fine, Keith. You can go."
"Wait, what?"
"You won't gain anything from this."
"Huh?"
"Go. Shoo. Adiós."
"Lance, I legitimately don't know what you're talking about."
"That's a lie."
"Lance, could you stop being an asshole and at least explain why you want me to go?"
"It's pretty obvious, Keith. I've barely left my room since we heard it's Christmas season back on Earth and I'm not all peppy n' excited so you guys think I'm depressed or something."
"Lance-"
"What? Were you the last to say 'not it' and now you have to come talk some sense into me?"
Lance doesn't know why he's being emotional. He just wants to be alone and Keith's here, refusing to leave. Not exactly refusing, actually but he's not leaving. It's like the tiny little last straw to break the camel's back, the tiny little last crack before the glass bottle holding his emotions back shatters into a million pieces and spills all over the floor for everyone to see.
Keith didn't even have to try.
Just his presence is enough to make Lance fall apart.
What is wrong with him? Actually, it may be too late to ask that. Maybe that should've been asked during the contemplating life on his bed. But that's off topic. He probably just made Keith just about a thousand times more concerned than before.
"Wait, Lance! That isn't what this is about."
"Then what is it about?"
The acidity in his voice is apparent. He doesn't want to sound like that. He doesn't want to be mean. Keith has done nothing wrong. He's probably here to ask Lance if he wants to train with him or something and Lance fucked it up. Well done, idiot. Well done.
Keith seems to've forgotten how to do his famous "I don't have emotions because I'm cool and Keith" pokerface. His face is visibly negative. It's hard to describe but probably some mix of a lot of concern, a dash of disappointment, and a twinge of sadness. It's one of the many things Keith will never admit he's gotten from his brother. Shiro makes the same face when he can tell something's wrong but knows he can't fix it.
"Lance, you don't seem ok."
"Oh?! You think?"
Why can't he just be nice? Lance can't stop the sarcasm from leaving his mouth. Just stop it. He doesn't want to take his negative emotions out on Keith. That's the last thing he wants to do right now. If only Keith would leave. He doesn't really want Keith to leave though.
"Right, right. So what should I do about that?"
Keith leans against the doorway, his head tilting in progress. He crosses his arms like he's decided that he's not going to leave until Lance does something. He should know. Keith's done this before. He always seems to know just about when Lance's ready to burst, when he's bottled up his emotions for too long and can't take it anymore. Maybe it's from experience.
"Keith, this isn't going to work. You can't help me."
That was a horrible, terrible lie and Lance is really hoping Keith can tell. He wants Keith to help. Or does he? His brain is currently on the fence about that. He wants to have someone to tell everything to but he also doesn't want a another word to escape his lips. What a conundrum!
Keith's giving a doubting look like he's not buying it and will keep giving him that look until he lets Keith help him. Is that good? Lance really needs to decide soon.
"The only way you can get me out of this doorway is by inviting me in."
"I could close the door on you."
Keith smiles one of those smiles where it's funny but not enough to laugh and Lance's brain pauses. Keith smiled. Oh great. Now that's going to bounce around his brain with all his other thoughts. It can join the catalog of Keith's blush worthy facial expressions.
"You wouldn't do that to me."
"I will because I don't need your help. There's nothing wrong."
Does that make sense? He just said, "You can't help me". Is that an admission of there being something wrong? Is he contradicting himself?
"You literally just said, 'I'm having an existential crisis'."
"No, I didn't."
"Well that's what I heard. Tell me about it."
Does Keith ever give up? Lance has seen it a few times from a distance but those times it's been inevitable. When Keith can't beat the training simulation or needs to sleep. Keith only gives up when he runs into physical boundaries (even though he's really bad at it). Never has Lance seen Keith willingly back down when he runs into an emotional boundary. He's the one that pushes the paladins to open up.
Lance, however, has not opened up to Keith about his problems in a hot minute and it seems like it's his turn.
"Fine, but make it snappy."
Keith smiles that stupid "I won" smile that he gives when he -ya' know- wins. It's kinda like a sly smile but not really a smirk. Does that make sense? It probably doesn't.
Lance reluctantly steps aside. He doesn't plan to tell Keith everything but knowing himself, he probably will and he's got a long night ahead of him.

What were your thoughts about your team back when you started, and what do you think about them now that you've dealt with so much stuff together?
What will you do if Azemondius or Igris chooses to come back into the team?
Are you open and willing to have new teammates?
"We were all led to the little town of Vrath when we met, a spot so small and unknown that it wasn't even signed on a map. Despite what the others may have thought, I know I had been chosen for this mission, and I'm very sure that so were the others. To tell the truth, I was pretty intimidated by both Hoyt and Azemondeus at the beginning, but I trusted the reason why we were all sitting at that table from the first second, and that hasn't changed."
She chuckled to the memory. "If I'm correct, Azemondeus was already sitting at that table with the Man in Red, the one that gave us the quest to retrieve the ritual book of the cult, the Story of Two Brothers. Hoyt was playing dice with a mischievous and fun looking halfling with green skin, Igris went to talk to a lone giant man that sat across the tavern on his own, and Ashava... well, Sasha, as I knew her back then, was dancing with the tavern's performer in front of the kiln that gave the name to the tavern. Arshea and Desna were also sitting together, not too far from where Igris went, and Arshea was devastated with grief as usual... I understand now, the two Soulless waitresses must have had that effect on her. She very much wished for people to live their lives to the fullest, and Soulless people just don't care anymore."
"But, back to the topic. Hoyt was clearly not someone that normally worked with others, and Azemondeus was always gloomy and uninterested, with his own personal purpose in mind. Igris was also wary of them, so I couldn't but be influenced by that. We fought well together, but the team really formed when it was decided to keep the book from the Man in Red, on his protectee's suggestion."
"By the time we reached Deadbridge, we all knew each other a little better. Azemondeus opened up a little about the tragic loss of his wife in a fire due to some assassins aimed at him and about how he now works for his witch mother in exchange for the power and strength to have his revenge. Hoyt revealed that he was turned permanently into a goblin by the target of his latest assassination contract and that before completing his mission, sacred to his god Achaekek, he was investigating on the reasons why that contract existed in the first place. Igris was supposedly adventuring with me to explore the world, but he also had to spread the name of his dragon ancestor, Rathgruul, while I'm also growing stronger and looking for a way to defeat the Vitalia, the monster that is killing so many in my lake. Trust was slowly getting built, and we even had fun along the way..."
"But then Azemondeus preferred to detach to work alone, because when he asked for our complete support to kill his brother just because Rasmia said so, we tried to suggest we should look into this first. He didn't even know his brother! We weren't trying to be offensive, but he didn't take it well... When we met again weeks later at the Witches' gathering, at least, he wasn't mad at us."
"For what concerns Igris, I still don't know why he left. He disappeared all of a sudden without a word. Echo is still looking for him through his scrying spells, but I received no news about him yet, other than he's alive."
"I doubt either of them will return," she admitted with a sigh, "but if others joined us, like Zinnya did, we're not turning them down and I wouldn't but be happy about it. Besides, since they were gone, we've been suffering the most damage and both Hoyt and I risked to die, walking the River of Souls towards final judgement and almost getting face to face with Pharasma."
"Honestly, it feels like she's... not part of the grand scheme we got involved in. No gods reached out for her or informed her about what's been going on, and Ashava asked me to judge if she's worthy of their trust as well. She's with us because we were working on the undead situation between Deadbridge and Bodie's Haunt, which seem to be her sworn target, and as we found out that the necromancer in the latter city was cooperating with the Black Tears, she decided to tag along. I think this would apply to other people as well, but then who knows..."

Naruto OCs
Alright some people showed interest so here’s some of my ninja brats! Starting with one of my 3-man cell groups!
This particular group is from Amegakure and are all named after penguins - the Rockhopper, Humboldt and Gentoo penguins specifically.
Iwatobi - Iwatobi is considered the leader of the three penguin lads. He has light skin, dark green hair that’s short and spiked with some yellow parts at the front to resemble the feathers on a rockhopper’s head, and red eyes. He doesn’t really have any special abilities or unique jutsu, and primarily uses water and lightning release and taijutsu. He’s around the same age as Konohamaru.
When he first appears in my little storyline, where he takes part in his Chunin exams, Iwatobi is rude, self-absorbed and a total pervert - something Funboruto is openly annoyed by and Jentsu encourages in part because he finds people’s reactions funny. His early behaviour suggests he is bisexual, but also ignorant in regards to the LGBT community and that he will quite happily objectify any attractive person - his interactions with Sabaku are the best example of this. His flirts with Sabaku are always very strong and sexual, both when he thinks Sabaku is female and when he knows he’s male, but he also shows disgust when he first finds out he was wrong and seems to believe the reason Sabaku didn’t like him flirting was because they’re both boys, and not because Iwatobi’s behaviour was rude and inappropriate. Despite his nastier behaviours, he is later seen to be friends with the other main Konohamaru-era team leaders (Sakyu, Iyashinote, Ichigo and Tsuyoi), though he may have joined the friendship group a little later.
Thankfully, Iwatobi does do some serious growing up and learns to be a lot less gross with people and a lot more respectful towards others. When he interacts with Tsuyoi he still openly flirts, but he’s a lot more gentle and respectful with her. He also learns to look out for others more and be less selfish following a mission where his actions almost result in the loss of one of his teammates. He’s still full of himself and sees himself as a bit more skilled than he is (he’s a competent shinobi, but dear god does he think highly of himself) but he’s still made great strides in self-improvement.
Funboruto - Funboruto is basically the team’s voice of reason and 85% of their impulse control. He’s smaller than the other two, short and lithe, and has a more feminine facial structure. Like Iwatobi, he’s light-skinned and red-eyed. His hair is light purple and not quite shoulder length. Funboruto has a few more release types in his arsenal than his leader, and is capable of water, earth and fire releases, as well as the mud release bloodline limit. Supposedly, users of mud release are seldom treated kindly, so he has almost certainly been treated with scorn for this ability. This stigma means he won’t dare use this ability aside from as a last resort, at least in his early appearances.
The stigma and stereotypes of mud release users being unclean, mixed with his mother’s behaviour, mean Funboruto is also borderline obsessed with staying clean. He strongly dislikes getting dirty, possibly even fears it or the consequences of it, especially his hands, and feels compelled to clean up as soon as he can - this is another reason he avoids using mud release when he can, as it actively dirties his skin. The others? They can be as dirty as they like as long as they don’t touch him. Despite at times being a grump and a nag, Funboruto’s position as the team mum and the one who looks out for them despite his squeamish nature is something the others both appreciate, though they don’t let on and tend to bully him a bit.
In adulthood, Funboruto is targeted by a man named Eien who, similarly to Hiruko from that one movie, is looking to capture shinobi with bloodline limits in order to somehow gain these abilities for himself. His methods tend to result in the death of the subject, so if captured, Funboruto will likely not survive.
Jenstu - Jenstu is a happy go lucky little asshole. Like Funboruto, his hair is just shy of shoulder length, maybe a lil shorter and a lot messier than the team mum’s, and he’s light skinned, though a little darker than the other two. His hair is a sort of duck egg blue colour and his eyes are a dull teal. He carries more muscle on his arms than either of the other two, and tends to carry big, bulky weapons with him. He also knows a thing or two about poisons.
Jenstu is a high energy person, the type who rarely shuts up and is a little too physical when interacting with others, and loves having a good laugh. His favourite sources of entertainment are, of course, his friends and teammates, hence his encouragement of Iwatobi’s less savoury habits. He’s not outright mean, but doesn’t always realise when he’s gone too far. He also clips his toenails in the middle of mid-mission campsites and collects interesting rocks. If he gives you an interesting rock, it means he considers you one of his closest friends.
All three of them wear their forehead protectors in the normal place.

They both stayed in each other's warmth fearing one of them would just disappear any moment.
He could feel her sobbing in his chest.
She was crying as if telling him about the loneliness, the guilt, the voidness inside her. She wanted to let everything out of her.
She wanted to tell him how much he mattered to her before this moment would become just a dream.
He cupped her face, wiping the tears from her face. She placed her hands on his "I missed you" she whispered.
"I know sweetheart. I missed you too. I thought I lost my chance. I lost you." He choked on his words
"I started to look for you, what happened to you, how you lived your life, something about you. Are you alive or… but I couldn't find a single thing, which made me more restless."
" and now seeing you here, as if nothing changed. As I've been given a chance. And it's okay if you have moved on, built your life. It's just… seeing you here is enough for me. I'm sorry…"
"Don't you dare. You have nothing to be sorry for. Don't apologize for doing something good. You did your job and I'm proud of you for that" She cut him off and said with a stern voice. The sternness he hasn't heard before. She cupped his cheek seeing him leaning into her touch.
She didn't want him to feel bad because of what he did. That was the thing she admired about him, his humanity, his courage. Which she didn’t have anymore.
Her eyes glowing, nose flushed from crying.
Steve kept looking at her and she knew what he wanted. And suddenly she was selfish and changed her mind to tell him anything, maybe she could compel him?
But she could never do this to him, she would have to tell him eventually.
“I know you have a lot of questions but… not here “ he nodded, giving her time to gather some courage again.
They both remain silent when she suddenly changes her posture, trying to look professional.
"Now back to the point I'm here for the interview. And fury told me to impress the captain which sounds inappropriate but I bet seeing me cry wouldn’t make you impress." She joked trying to make the mood lighten.
He looked at her, straightened his head, and asked, "well ma'am I would like to know about your qualities? Your abilities to become an avenger." She chuckled at his words.
"You see Mr. Stark also asked this kind of question and I just knocked the wind outta him"
Steve raised his brow at her as if challenging her. And without any warning, she pulled him against the wall just like she did with tony.
Steve was shocked at her "you have… you have fast reflexes" it was more like he was telling himself than asking her. Now he was more desperate to ask what happened.
And she knew what was going through his mind. And all of a sudden the proximity gave her a bit of courage. She brought her lips near his face. “Soon pretty boy” she whispered against his skin before pulling out.
She smirked seeing his flushed face, he was still her shy steve. Steve cleared his throat feeling awkward.
“So.. you met the team?” he asked.
She hummed in response. “Actually I’m a member too now. Gonna join Miss Romanoff tomorrow for training.”
He nodded in reply and kept looking at her. There were so many things he wanted to ask her but he had to wait.
They walked outside the room towards the lift. Tony saw them together.
"Ooh, so you met the new girl alone huh" he smirked, teasing them.
Steve cleared his throat on his remarks but y/n only smirked.
"Well, I had to impress the captain. So it was better to have some alone time with him, to demonstrate my abilities" tony chuckled at her word.
"Is he impressed?" Y/n looked towards Steve who was busy getting flustered.
"Pretty much," she said, turning towards Tony with a smirk. "See guys tomorrow"
Saying that she left the men alone. Tony kept looking at Steve with raised eyebrows. "You got moves, old man" Steve sighed and left before his teammate could tease him more.
He was indeed impressed by her. She wasn't this bold before, he hadn't seen her like that. She was changed. She had become a confident woman in those years.
But how was she there? He still needed to find the answer.
~
Y/n came home and straight went to the kitchen to quench her thirst.
After that hectic day, she needed a drink.
Pouring a glass of bourbon with blood she went towards her couch.
Her thoughts went to Steve, how different he looked from her little Stevie. But still, he felt the same.
She knew he wanted to know about her. How she was not dead or was on the death bed. She chuckled thinking about that.
Sooner or later she had to tell him, so why did she want to delay it.
The sooner she tells him her truth the better.
What if he rejects her after that or is disgusted by her.
She was a fucking vampire, she can literally control his mind.
Her mind was filled with thoughts when her phone rang bringing her out of the thoughts.
She took the phone and smiled seeing Damon's face on display.
"Tell me every detail like I'm your girl bestie" that's how he greeted her.
She chuckled, shaking her head. "Well, I met him." She bit her lip.
"And…" his voice was annoyed.
"I didn't tell him… yet."
"So you are changing your mind" she could feel the smirk in his words. She rolled her eyes and sighed.
"No, but I need some time. I can't just drop a bomb on him like that. He was pretty shocked at seeing me, imagine telling him I'm a blood-sucking monster that time" she chuckled. But Damon knew it was forced.
"Look y/n I already told you and I'm gonna tell you this one last time. You are not a monster, stop saying that. And he loves you, heck Elena loves me when I'm this. He loved you when you were a human, how can you say he won't love you anymore just because of what you are. Humans can't shut their feelings by switching some button"
He was right, she couldn't just assume things and avoid telling Steve. "You are right. Maybe… I'll try tomorrow"
"Oooh!! So you are an avenger now huh" she giggled. "Yes, so from now beware of me. One wrong step and you'll be in danger" her threatening just made him scoff.
"You won't dare "
"Try me," she said shrugging.
“Oh don’t tempt me to come over there and show you I’m stronger than you”
She scoffed at his words and said her goodbyes as she had to wake up early tomorrow, for her training.
The excitement to see him again made her feel like a teen girl meeting her crush. She chuckled and laid on the bed closing her eyes with a happy sigh…

Sometimes to work out his nightmares, Sam goes flying and Bucky waits for him, knowing that he will always come home.

As Bucky slowly awoke from his sleep, he became aware of three things. The first was the absence of a warm body next to him, the second was the morning light streaming in through the open window, and the third was a small post-it note, lit by the ray of sunlight and lying on the pillow where Sam was not.
He took the post-it and read what Sam had written. It was short, and exactly what Bucky had expected.
Bucky,
I had a bad night. I needed to go flying.
I love you,
Sam
Taking a quick look around the room, he saw the briefcase that contained Sam's armor opened which confirmed what Sam had written to him. Shuri had done a good job of allowing the armor to have multiple appearance options, so Sam regularly went flying just for fun or often to clear his head, as it was now the case.
Bucky quickly understood that it was not because Sam didn't want to see him or couldn't stand his presence. Sometimes Sam just needed that to feel better, to fly free, without purpose or mission, to exorcise the demons that haunted him. Bucky better than anyone could understand that.
Bucky decided it was time to start his day.
After making the bed and changing into a casual outfit, he headed for the kitchen, stopping to look at the pictures that filled the hallway wall.
There were family photos there, both blood-related and not, many of them taken by Sam. He ran his fingertip along the frame of a photo taken on their wedding day. A rather cute photo that the photographer had been desperate to take, Sam smiling, his face framed by Sarah and Joaquin kissing him on both cheeks, each on one side. Sam's sister Sarah had welcomed Bucky into their family, no questions asked, and Joaquin, Sam's teammate had become like a little brother to Bucky.
Bucky, who had been alone for so long, had found happiness with this family, he was bound to them with a bond stronger than blood.
He couldn't help but smile when he saw this picture and the one next to it where he and Sam were supposed to be looking at the camera, but were looking at each other. Bucky was happy to see Sam's smile immortalized in this picture. But his throat tightened every time he saw his own face in that picture. He looked so happy.
A happiness that at one time in his life he never thought he would have.
Sam was everywhere in their house.
When Bucky arrived in the kitchen, he saw his breakfast tray ready, as they had always done for years, the first one to get up would prepare it for the other. This morning there was a can of coffee he didn't know about. Bucky removed the post-it note stuck to the can to read it.
Carlos said that your coffee hasn't been delivered yet, but I found one that tastes almost the same. Try it. Or throw it away and get a Starbucks if you're not happy.
Love.
He put the post-it note in his pocket with the first one he'd found on the pillow.
When Sam had become Captain America ten years ago, knowing that Bucky had chosen to stay in Delacroix most of the time unless there was an urgent mission that required his skills, they knew they would have complicated schedules. Sam would regularly have to leave unexpectedly, without them necessarily having a chance to say goodbye.
So Sam had started leaving post-it notes, and Bucky was responding to them. Over the years, this has become an essential part of their relationship. Not just for urgent matters, but also for general messages, and sometimes just a gentle thought written down for the other to find later.
Bucky sipped his coffee, which he had to admit was not bad at all. He looked at the calendar hanging on the wall with scribbled events and Sam's work schedule for the week hanging next to it. He saw that Sam would have to leave for periods of several days, lots of events and press conferences. He was disappointed for a brief moment, as they would not see each other for several days. Some might say that he had got used to it, but for him it meant that after ten years the attachment was the same if the thought of Sam's absence had that effect on him.
But he wanted to make their lives more pleasant, as Sam did, so he went to get the ingredients for some muffins. Chocolate chip muffins were Sam's favourite. Bucky had discovered a passion for cooking. Well, especially when it came to cooking for Sam. The others...
He took one for himself, then packed the others in a plastic box, and stuck a post-it on it telling Sam that he would be of no use to anyone if he starved.
After folding the laundry he decided to sit in the living room and read, today was a day of rest for both of them after all so he was going to enjoy it.
After two hours of reading, Sam wasn't home yet, but it wasn't nearly long enough to start worrying. Maybe he had decided to visit friends or family. But it was more likely that he was flying high in the sky. He had once told Bucky that there were only two things that made him forget his nightmares: flying and Bucky's arms. Too bad he didn't wake Bucky up and let him help him with the second.
Looking for something to distract his mind, he took the small notebook that Sam had given him the other day. He had seen that the previous one was full. Sam had given him the first notebook 10 years ago, to replace Steve's. He told him that since this was a new life, he should have a new notebook to fill with positive things. Since then, Bucky had been writing down things he wanted to do, visit, eat, listen to. This was his second notebook. As he flipped through it, he found a new little post-it note
I took the liberty of adding a few lines... I hope you won't mind.
I love you (so much more than 10 years ago and less than tomorrow.)
Bucky smiled, feeling moved, and ran his fingers over the notebook, tracing the familiar curves of Sam's writing.
Then he went to the last page where Sam had written something.
-Listening to Trouble Man (You stubborn old man)
-Trying a new delicious recipe for Sam (though nothing outdoes your muffins)
-Being nice to Redwing (jealous of a bot, how cute of you)
Shaking his head and laughing, he put the notebook back in its place.
He continued to walk around the living room. He found himself in front of the fireplace. Winters were not cold, so a fireplace was not common in Louisiana homes. And yet it was Sam who had wanted it when they built their house after Bucky had confided in him that what haunted him most in his nightmares was the cold. The memory of his cryogenic sleeps.
So when the roles were reversed and Bucky needed warmth after a nightmare. When he didn't want to disturb Sam or when Sam wasn't there, He would light the fire and sit in front of it until the heat made him forget his nightmares.
The way their relationship had started, who would have thought they would have come to this. Certainly not him. But they were perfect together in a way Bucky would never have dared to dream.
Bucky figured Sam's nightmare must have been particularly hard on him, to keep him out there for so long, but he trusted him to tell him about it when he needed to.
In the meantime, he picked up an old record and headed for the record player. Another present from Sam when Bucky had told him he missed the sound of old records.
I hadn't anyone till you.
Bucky remembered when this song had come out. As he listened to the lyrics now, he thought they were prescient.
I hadn't anyone
Till you
I was the lonely one
Till you
I used to lie awake and wonder
If there could be
A someone in this wide world
Just made for me
His eyes fell on another post-it note on the record cover.
Bucky, you little sap, I'm sure you think this song is written for you. The someone just made for you, you think that's me right?
Well you're right and it's mutual.
With love from your fool in love.
He read it several times and put it in his pocket with the others. The little piece of paper may not have been warm, but Bucky felt a familiar warmth spread through him.
Music filled the room and Bucky opened the living room window to let the breeze in.
He lay down on the couch, the book he had started this morning in his hand, resting his head on one armrest and his feet on the other. He quickly became absorbed in his reading, absentmindedly humming the song. When he got to the part Sam mentioned in his little note, Bucky began to sing out loud as well, and as his voice faded with the music, he heard the door open behind him.
Bucky sat up and turned his head, Sam was home.
"Stay where you are, love."
Sam came to join him, kissed him gently before sitting against him, Bucky closed his arm around him.
"Hi," Sam said softly, a half smile on his face. "I missed you."
"Hi," Bucky replied, pressing a kiss to Sam's head. "I missed you too. Did you have a good time?"
"Yes, I did," Sam replied. "Did you have a good time too? I'm sorry I wasn't there most of the day."
"Of course you were there," Bucky replied. It was the truth. Sam was always there, even when he wasn't physically there. Bucky could see him everywhere. There were traces of him, of them, everywhere. And when he left, he always came home. In Bucky's arms.
He tightened his embrace and whispered softly, "You are here. And I will always wait for you. Always."
_____ I think the sappy one is me but well...
I hope you enjoyed it 🥰

Song: Easy to Forget Me by Cimorelli
Pairings: Tobio Kageyama x fem! reader
Word count: 2.8k
Summary: When the king's queen was out of his grasp before he can realize
Warning/Genre: angst, toxic friendship, anxiety attack
Symbols: Italics=flashbacks
A/N: um- im very much hurt
Tumblr media
Kageyama pants as he runs, pushing his limit with his eyes scanning the street ahead of him. His chest heavily coming up and down with sweat dripping down his skin. Mind empty but theres a certain feeling in his chest that was urging him to come back to a certain period in his life or a certain someone.
As he passes by a certain store, he suddenly stops. The feeling of his legs as if it they were holding him back, restraining his every move along with a voice lingering in his head like a broken record.
"She wasn't there."
Like a rock thrown to glass, his heart shatters, the sharpness of it scattering around his body making him weak to his knees as he stares at the shop that brought back memories he should've cherished. Maybe he should've gone with you when you asked him, maybe he should've took interest in your stories that had you smiling for days.
Maybe he should've chosen to remember.
"Tobio! Please don't push me away." Y/N begs, as Tobio disregards your words as he locks the door, slamming it in front of you. It was right after the match of Kitagawa, where his teammates claimed him the King, leaving him stranded.
"Please.. I'm here. I'll stay with you, I promise." Y/N says, head leaned on the door as she desperately tries to talk to the boy who've built such high walls a person like her can never reach. Kageyama can hear her pleas through the door but only one scene was repeating in his head-the moment the ball dropped, not even a soul was willing to save it for him.
"Kageyama.." she whispers sliding down with tears in her innocent eyes, scared for the condition of the boy, even more scared of what was bound to happen to their closeness.
The door creaks open slightly, and she was off her feet wiping away her tears as she turns around to see the broken boy clutching his shirt. He collapses into her arms and she gladly takes him, both sat on the ground with her hands running through his dark locks. Tears in each of their eyes, Y/N holding onto him while he questions himself. All the words that slipped through her mouth was nothing but sweet whispers and promises, reassuring him that he was no king.
Just a prince surrounded in a kingdom he didn't deserve.
-
"T-thank you for yesterday. You're the only one I can..count on." He says through the phone and you immediately smile at his words, surprised he believed in your promise. You let your hand rest on top of your heart, gripping on your shirt feeling that your heart was too big to fit into your body with how your emotions were overwhelming you just because of one boy. You wonder how long it'll take for you to break under him, under the kings command.
"It's nothing, Tobio. I'll be here whenever you need me."
-
"Kageyama! Good morning!" You say as you gladly bring him his usual choice of milk. He nods to you as a sign of thank you, and you smile at him. You walk with him silently, admiring the pleasant air between you two. It was a coincidence you two entered the same school, or was it really just your instinct and you chose it to protect the boy?
"I heard about this new store. Do you wanna come with me? I've seen photos of it everywhere!" She rambles on yet it fell on deaf ears as Kageyama was only delighted about being back on the gym, able to play his passion. When he turned to her, even if she was talking, his slightest care couldn't be given to her. He'd only nod every once in a while to make it seem like he'd understood.
If your heart knew that he didn't care, maybe then you would've realized.
-
We're in the same town
But you're nowhere to be found
"She hasn't been around for days. Do you think she'll make it to our game?" Hinata asks as Tanaka hands him another ball. Tanaka sighs as he looks over to the empty bench. It was funny how they were all concerned yet one boy couldn't care less. The second year looks over to Kageyama who spiked the ball perfectly, seeing him cheer at his success.
"Worry less about Y/N, she probably has her own problems. We all know that she could never miss our game, especially when Kageyama is playing." Daichi says, looking over to the younger boy. Daichi can feel how cold the atmosphere was with just a glance. He tries not to interfere with whatever happened between you two but after the match no one saw you again. Yet he sees Kageyama, perfectly back in his mindset and not an ounce of suspense as to why you weren't present.
"Plus we missed her birthday! Can't we buy some gifts for her? She doesn't really seem okay to me." Sugawara say and Nishinoya jumps at the idea agreeing completely.
"Seems like he shouldn't be invited." Tsukishima says, pointing at their other setter. Hinata sighs beside him, before shaking his head, in denial of the tension.
"Let's just go after practice!"
-
He walks inside the record store, seeing a variety of albums and vinyls. He lets his slim fingers run over the texture of each album, wondering which drew his attention. The atmosphere of the store was enough to leave a weight on his shoulders.
It's you, isn't it?
He eyes a poster on his left, enjoying how the colors were spotlighted by the sunlight that was peeking through the window. All the soft hues, having a dark gradient at the bottom he couldn't help but feel how familiar everything was. He carefully listens to the song that was playing, concentrating on every lyric as if he was trying to find a connection.
This is her world.
He watches how everyone in the store was occupied in conversations. Conversing about their interests, debating about different eras, even singing in different aisles. He can only feel sympathy, alone in her world he didn't bother to acknowledge. He should know by now what music you like, what album you first bought, which band poster was hung on your wall, but when he tried he could only hear murmurs and whispers.
I wish I listened.
-
Do you ever miss me?
You wonder as you sat in your room, knees to your chest in the far corner, listening to the song playing in your earphones. You stood up, walking to your window and opening it, greeted by the cold air. You let you hands dangle from the window while your eyes landing on the night sky creeping a smile on your face at how comforting it was.
The moon stares down on you, feeling helpless for the girl who thought numbness was the right choice. She couldn't even mask the way her world was slowly loosing color. To her, music would always paint her skies with color. All she can do now is envision the colors but in reality they were all desaturating with every passing day. There's pretty smile set on her lips yet feels like a tug of force knowing it was hard to act civil when her heart lost the battle.
-
"This place is so cool!" Hinata exclaims, eyes sparkling at the sight of the vivid posters and overall aesthetic and aura of the store. Nishinoya joins him on the excitement. Daichi turn to Kageyama who looked like a lost puppy, eyes wandering everywhere. Sugawara taps Daichis shoulder quite cutely holding up a vinyl in his hands.
"This looks like something she'd like!" He says with a smile and Nishinoya joins the conversation, holding out his own album waving it in the air claiming it was more her type. Asahi laughs at the two while he continues to view the albums that were in front of him.
Kageyama glances at his seniors along with the second years. He sees the genuine care they have for her but why is that he feels empty? Like he was numb to any feeling. He did miss her birthday, not even bothering to greet her, focusing on doing better for the next matches.
Hinata notices the dismay from the boy but his lips form a thin line, knowing exactly why Kageyamas clueless. He wonders about the feeling of neglecting a person that's been by your side for years. Kageyama seemed like he was a pro for such things. He always took notice of how Y/N would look whenever he's decline her offers, the way she walks to class disheartened but when she sees the setter, she instantly lights up at the sight.
Seeing her cry that day was enough for him to keep a distance.
How can he even comfort her? The moment she turned her back to Kageyama, she had a hopeless smile on her lips, tears continuously rolling down her puffy cheeks. He could see the way she collapsed that way. How the queen finally let go of her duties from the king.
-
Kageyama laid on his bed with earphones in, hands to his chest focused on the melodies. It was ironic how he wanted to badly catch up on what he's lost. He was badly trying to find the trail back to you but he was unfortunate. It seemed like he was the one that changed everyone's destination.
The moment she stepped in the gym, so bewildered at the different personalities they had. Hinata was the first one to approach her, asking her questions about their "friendship." The following months went by and Hinata found comfort in her and so did the rest of the team, favoring her for her endless support, always hearing her cheers at each game. After every match, she'd always encourage the others, being the brightest sun to cast upon the team who was discouraged.
Yet he found this unnecessary?
He bites his lip at his old thought. He hated himself for thinking how useless of a habit that was for you. He believed that Daichi was enough to lift up the spirits of his teammates so the team really didn't need you. It's opposite for the others though. They truly appreciated each of your compliments, each pat on the shoulder or head. Even if you wanted to do the same for him, he'd always walk away before you could even reach him. Hinata and Yamaguchi would always try to make you forget how harsh the boy was.
He lets his eyes close for a while. For a second, he was at peace but then words started resurfacing.
"How could you just walk away?"
He tries to ignore the tone of her voice, trying to drown it out by increasing the volume, but his heart was panicking at the memory. Even if he tightly shuts his eyes, all he can imagine was the sight of the last time he saw her. He wanted to sit up, to avoid the anxiousness that was crawling under his skin, but his back remained on the bed, struggling to escape the encounter.
"Is it that easy to forget me?"
Y/N.
(TW! Anxiety attack. Do not proceed if this makes you uncomfortable)
He calls out to her like a whisper, clutching his pillow as he stares wide eyed at the ceiling. He feels the room swirl around him, the walls caving on him as every insult and memory came to him. He sits up and desperately tries to walk but he collapses on the floor, hands quickly reaching the hem of his shirt bringing it over his shoulders. Panting incredibly with his sweat covering his forehead as he tried to calm himself down but each second he was reminded of a moment in his life he could never change.
"Hey..Kageyama it's okay." Y/N tries to reach for his shoulder but he harshly grabs a hold of her hand, gripping it tightly in his as he stares her down with his dark eyes, locking on her terrified ones.
"We fucking lost! To Aoba! To Oikawa! How can you act like this when we lost?!" Kageyama shouts at her and she winces at the volume but she lets her other hand rest on top of his, trying to make sure her eye contact reminded him that everything was going to be okay.
"Tobio- Karasuno will come back and win again.. You have to trust that everything isn't set in stone. Failure-"
"FAILURE? I don't have any fucking time for more failures Y/N! You simply don't know what that feels cause all you've been doing is tagging along and being useless." He spat and you felt your smile crumble at his words. He removes your hands from his as he frustratedly runs his hands to his hair, feeling as if pins went through his hands, blaming it for their loss.
"Kageyama..you don't m-mean that. Stop. I know you're angry-"
"I'm disappointed Y/N for fucks sake! I could've done better! We could've won if I didn't slip up. Stop acting like you can fucking solve everything and leave!" She takes a step forward to him as he extends out a hand, blocking her from moving any further. The gesture completely draining the life out of her, her heart growing more and more in her chest, the admiration for the boy trying to erase his negativity.
"K-kageyama-"
"Fuck Y/N! Can't I have a day without you talking to me? Or even being around me? I don't need you. The team doesn't need you. No one else does.. so please just leave already."
He stares at her for a while before rushing off, annoyance and pride feeding his heart and mind. She sees him getting more and more distant as she lets her last smile fall on her lips. All the love and joy was erased from her heart, feeling how shallow and dark the atmosphere was inside it. It began to feel like every heartbeat was slowing down as her tears painted her a trail as she walked. The tears continuously flooded her cheeks as every function of her body was weakening with every action.
She feels the tension that there was in the bus, while she was stuck in the corner, silent.
Silent but the Kings poison consumed her.
Happy birthday to me then. She thinks bitterly.
She looks at the scenery beside her, appealing dull. She allows her heart to cry at the sharp pieces that went through it, as if it was like a balloon being popped or like the light from a fire was blown out.
There was a certain part of her that died that day. She wonders if it was her entirely, or just her ability to feel anything apart from the harsh reality. It was the mere feeling of hearing him say the exact opposite of the words you were badly used to. As the person who he counted on even back at Kitagawa, you should've believed it. But every word he threw were all words that should've never been brought to light. You were back to zero to say the least, back at the darkest corner of your mind. Touching in with your negative emotions drowning you with every replay of of his words.
Then she glances at him.
She lets her eyes linger on him for the last time before she sighs, hands forming a ball, nails digging through her skin.
I don't know you anymore.
Kageyama opens his eyes slowly, hands reaching for his phone as he dials a forgotten number. He was panting furiously, desperate to hear the sound of your voice he was late to miss. He dreaded the silence the surrounded him, he wished the silence would be killed by your voice, assuring him that all was forgiven and you were ready to come back to him so he can apologize for everything he's done.
On the other end of the line, you sighed sadly. You the see way your phone lit up the dark room, seeing a name you've yet to see in months. You carefully place the phone in your hands, trying to find the feeling in your chest when he was around. The feeling of excitement to see or hear him has vanished yet you wished that you had the ability to feel for him again.
Love has faded, no evidence, not even a trace.
So you put the phone down, done waiting to be found.
Kageyama hears the way the sound of the phone stopped, seeing his wallpaper flash in front of him. He lets the tears fall from his eyes as he calls out to you one more time, even if you broke your promise, still holding on to it but there wasn't a chance for him anymore.
And the queen left the kingdom, leaving the king to rule by himself.

Ok so no one else will talk about this and ur the only one I've seen that hasn't just paired Hank off with 2b just bc dei n San are already together in their hcs- (I love me some 2bhank don't get me wrong, but I feel like that's wasting so much potential for this characters, ESPECIALLY 2b who I only ever see in content bc it's 2bhank content, and is rarely explored outside of that. And like- they never do Hank learning how to care for others either- dhsjs-) BUT I saw ur 2bford post and Ive been thinking, bc for ur thing to happen dei has to- well- die, and they're comforting eachother because there's literally NO other person that's an option for human comfort, so their kinda pushed into that otherwise they'll spiral, but then I realized that even when the others are alive 2b will kinda instinctively turn to San for comfort anyways, (much like dei does-) Deimos death or no. I find it that dei will want to TRY to comfort 2b, but generally is used to using humor to ease situations, and humor doesn't feel like it'd help the type of person that 2b is, so I feel like sans mom friend personality will spark up him comforting 2b during a night where 2b refuses to sleep or something. (Which this time, UNLIKE dei who I feel like would be the one to go to Sanford first, for like hugs n shit.) I just love ur post bc it opened my eyes to the potential of these characters outside of just throwing two together and not regarding canon, slapping a sugar coating on their trust and personalities that makes em softer. I love LOVE those fics and their great, but there isn't enough where people actually explore the canon personalities, and try to make it work and make sense anyways, even with all the setbacks. Anyways ily have a great day <3
blinks. holy shit. NBMASNGBASG??? THANK YOU?? im glad im able to open up a lot of people's minds to a more canon approach to their relationships. yeah, i love me some 2bhank too, but in all honesty i just dont see it working out at all. sure, there can be attempts, but hank's never going to be the relationship kind of person. at least not long-term. im a person that has the idea of them being together at some point, but splitting up because their differences and own personal problems got in the way of everything. because of this, they're still on edge with each other, and i want to make that apparent.
but i also dont want hank to be a mindless asshole, yknow? he actually goes through serious character development throughout the series, and it shows!! he may start out like a machine built just for murder, but if you look at hank from, say, a project nexus standpoint and then compare it to the time he saves sanford's ass in mc10? he's gone from being able to kill his own teammates to get what he wants to realizing that he's actually formed an attachment, and that having someoen by his side can make things so much easier in the long run. sure, he's still a bastard, but that doesn't mean he refuses to show a softer side to himself.
what i like about madness combat as a whole is that there's so much character in each individual frame alone for us to pick apart and analyze. you can tell that when sanford sees deimos' dead body for the first time that he's actually upset, but he doesn't have the time to grieve or mourn because hey, something is actively trying to kill him too. it makes you think about what would have happened if he DID have that time. or what happens after things slow down, if they ever do.
even with doc's short screen time, you can tell he's a cranky individual. but if you were to look into mpn2's arena mode storyline (yes, im bringing this up because it's actually interesting), he has SO much more personality. he's crazy fucking smart, and he doesn't take any bullshit. hell he runs a bunch of vampires over with a car and brushes it off like it was nothing. he's a badass and no one would be able to tell unless they looked to madcom's other medias, at least until the next episode drops.
my point is that it's worth doing the character studies. yeah, you can craft your own world where things are completely different and everyone's happy with each other, and that's completely fine!! i just like a more realistic approach to canon, and i do my research to make sure i'm getting things right. it's worth it in the long run because i have so much to work with, and a lot of personality i can develop in the characters themselves. it makes for a great story if you know what to do with it.
this was long, sorry, but i enjoy talking about these things. i LOVE seeing other people's headcannons and aus, especially where things get better, but then i look at mine and get so sad because things are just so fucked up there JHBSAMGDABMASDG but hey!! madness in general is fucked up if you know where to look. i'm a kind of person that loves crafting theories so the more deep and disturbing lore really gets the old rusty gears turning ;)

My Redesigns of The Specialists
Well, since I finished with the Winx Club girls and The Trix, I figured it was time to do my redesigns of The Specialists. However, not all of them are going to be just powerless fighters. I felt it would be more fun to make their team be made up of fighters, fairies, and sorcerers. Plus, they get to have their own transformations too. The fighters get transformations similar to the Power Rangers/superheroes (Because it makes no sense for there to be an emergency and they just rush off to change clothes, which is an INSANELY dangerous time waster), the fairies will have transformations similar to the Winx Club themselves, and the sorcerers will have transformations similar to the ones from Miraculous Ladybug (Honestly, I don't know what to think for the sorcerers). Why? Because it's so much more fun that way.
Sky
Tumblr media
Well, I got the most BORING of the boys out of the way, so that's something. For his design I used Eric's body from The Little Mermaid, the face of Derek from The Swan Princess (Or at least from a specific poster), used his second hairstyle from the show because it suits him better and look less like a surfer dude, and I used the uniforms The Specialists get in the later seasons because it's BADASS. Plus, considering that Eraklyon is related to geology, it makes sense to have some armor that looks like stones. I did change the shade of blue to match his signature color, which is sky blue (I mean, it's in his name). He is the prince of Eraklyon and the son of a sorcerer and a fairy, but they still loved him despite that he had no magic. However, that made them even more protective of him since he was a child and there was a threat of him being kidnapped and held for ransom by Yoshinoya. So Sky's best friend/squire, Brandon (Who is a fairy and has magic to protect himself and Sky) was to switch places with Sky for public appearances and in school, so that no one would know who Sky really is. The only ones who knew the truth were the royal family, the castle staff, members of the royal court, and Diaspro & her parents (Who Sky was betrothed to since they were babies). Despite having no powers, Sky refused to be helpless and studied fighting hand-to-hand combat and weaponry. Sky is a boring character but could be good if put in the right hands. Give him flaws, have him held more accountable for his actions, none of the bullshit conflict that happens with him and Bloom from seasons 4-8.
Brandon
Tumblr media
For his design, I used the face of Edward from Enchanted, the nose of Rameses from The Prince of Egypt, the eyes of Joseph from Joseph: King of Dreams, and the body of Bolin from The Legend of Korra. I've always questioned what race Brandon was supposed to be coded as because he seemed pretty ambiguous. Was he just white but with a tan? Was he Middle Eastern? Was he Filipino? Was he Hispanic or Latino? I saw someone say he was Middle Eastern and pointed out some areas in the Middle East where they have lighter tan complexions, dark brown hair, and similar features to him. So I thought for some representation, I would go with the Middle Eastern coded option. I made him a little darker than he was in the original show by giving him Flora's skin color from the original show (Since I gave her a darker skin-tone in my redesign of her), sharper eyes, and more Middle Eastern looking nose. I didn't want to use Aladdin's nose because the noses of Aladdin and Jasmine were a little too exaggerated the same way that the noses in Lilo and Stitch were too exaggerated (Polynesians don't have potato noses). I also wanted to show some body diversity by giving him a plus-sized body. NO, Bolin's body isn't fat but it's very much plus-sized. Brandon was a fat little boy growing up because he was just built differently. However, as he got older and started training, he bulked up. He's still plus-sized but is also muscular. You're probably wondering why I decided to make Brandon a fairy. I don't know but it just works. He is the fairy of geodes! I got that idea from Diaspro's fairy form and powers. They come from Eraklyon, so the magic in that world must be related to geology. So he's basically an Earthbender lol. But his powers are rooted on rocks, stones, gems, ect. so it's no wonder his body is so solid like a rock. I also modeled his wings after Diaspro's, which I noticed are solid instead of transparent like other fairy wings. I figured that must be part of the geology themed powers. As for his costume, I based it on one of the background fairies that were seen during the destruction of Bloom's home planet, Sparx. It just looked like it suited him. He and Sky have been friends since they were little and he is Sky's squire. He's the son of one of the palace guards. Since Sky was in danger of being abducted since he was a little kid, Brandon was made to pretend he was the prince for Sky's protection. Brandon's parents were dead against it, but the king demanded it. However, it was ultimately Brandon who decided to do it, even if his parents disapproved of putting their son in danger. You may ask, how would people believe that two white parents had a brown son? No idea! I guess they just said he was naturally tan lol.
Riven
Tumblr media
For Riven's design, I gave him the face/head of Proteus from Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas, the body of Shang from Mulan, and the eyes of Gaston from Beauty and the Beast. For his outfit, I didn't want to just give him the same outfit as Sky but with a different color because I wanted more individuality. So I gave him the outfits that were worn by Nex and Thoren (Sky's cousin). They looked less heroic and epic as the outfit I gave Sky, which suits Riven's more roughish nature and how he hasn't had an easy life compared to Sky (More on that later). It also has a bit of a low-key bad boy vibe to it. I still stayed true to his signature color, magenta, while making sure it didn't clash with his magenta hair, and giving him some purple to match his eyes. And I just had to give him an angry look on his face because it's Riven, so of course. Riven is my absolute LEAST favorite of the specialists. Sky may be boring as hell but Riven is ANNOYING as hell. He's poorly written, has terrible development, is always an asshole for no reason, has no backstory to justify the way he is, doesn't really change, and his relationship with Musa is absolutely toxic. In my version, I give him a backstory and better character development. His backstory is that he was born to a father that was a sorcerer and a mother that was a fairy while he was born without the ability to perform magic, which was a MASSIVE disappointment to his parents. They neglected him, emotionally abused him, and on occasion physically. This makes his actions and attitude all the more understandable. He's a show off because of how he never really got attention growing up from his own parents and is trying to make up for it, as well as prove that he is capable of great things and isn't useless just because he doesn't have powers. He's angry and a hothead but has more of a secret gentle side that he sometimes shows, MUCH MORE than the original Riven, which helps make it more understandable why Musa would have a crush on him. His emotional baggage also made it easier for Darcy to manipulate him, even giving him some magic (But takes it away when she dumps him). His backstory also gives him a reason for why he lashes out at his fellow teammates. In my version, Brandon is a fairy and Timmy is a sorcerer, so they can perform magic while he can't. He especially resents Sky because of how he was also born with parents that could perform magic while he couldn't but was still given love and attention despite this. It made him VERY angry and jealous because of how Sky manage to have parents that adore him, despite being born unable to do magic, while Riven had neglectful and abusive parents because of his inability to perform magic.
Timmy
Tumblr media
For his face/head I used some old concept design of Milo from Atlantis: The Lost Empire and the smile, eyes, and body of Aladdin. I went with Aladdin's body because of how Timmy wouldn't be as masculine as the others but wouldn't be lanky. Aladdin has some muscles on him but he's not super built. I also gave him freckles because it's just too perfect for him. His outfit was tricky because of how I had to find a way of making him look like a sorcerer but also incorporate it with technology to go with his powers because of how he is the Sorcerer of Technology. For his scepter, I went with Tecna's Mythix wand, with some adjustments. Redheads look surprisingly really good in the color yellow. I decided to make Timmy a sorcerer because of how I feel it suits his personality. He's not as action-oriented as the other guys but more intellectual, even though he still fights. Imagine how amazing he'd be with technology with magic. He'd excel! No, I don't have him being from Zenith like Tecna but from another technology planet, though one that isn't considered as high up as Zenith. So this makes him feel a little intimidated by Tecna, that and him having a MASSIVE crush on her. He always is trying to prove that he is capable and isn't just some weak nerd. Out of all of the specialists, he's one of my favorite, if not my number one favorite. He's just absolutely awesome with how much of a dork he is.
Helia
Tumblr media
Helia was the one that I was looking the most forward to doing a redesign of because of how I made him a fairy. Out of all of the Specialists, he's the one that really benefits the best from being made a fairy, especially when I got to his Believix and Enchantix. He has more of a feminine personality while still proving he isn't a wuss but rather a badass, despite being a pacifist. This gives him layers and depth beyond just being a typical good looking hero. Plus, his hair is just AMAZING! I used the body of Mako from The Legend of Korra, the eyes and nose of Shang from Mulan, and the head/face of Little Creek from Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. I also gave him Brandon's skin tone to make him look more brown instead of just a light Asian. His outfit is very feminine but also clearly meant for a man because of how it's kind of toga looking. But I did his toga in a way that looks more Asian inspired instead of Greek inspired. Plus, this look suits his chill and relaxed personality. I made his outfit salmon pink with some orange because those colors just look so good on him and just suit his character. I made him the fairy of art, the same way that Musa is the fairy of music. So he can make art literally come to life, turn things like paint into ropes, can control paper (Particularly when in an origami shape), create portals, can jump into paintings to hide, and you get the point. Basically, his powers are awesome!
Nabu
Tumblr media
And now we've come to my favorite of The Specialists, Prince Nabu. First of all, I want to make VERY CLEAR that in my version, Nabu DOESN'T die! That was a bunch of BULL CRAP! I mean, he's introduced in season 3 and then close to the end of season 4 they kill him off? Not to mention that out of all the boys, they chose the darkest one, who was also the love interest of black woman! She ended up having to suffer more than any of the other girls because of this. Not to mention that in season 5 they tried to replace him with a brown (But much lighter) man with terrible blonde hair and a terribly bland and boring personality to match, Roy. Then when that didn't work, they did a dumb love triangle in season 6 where the white man that has a personality mixture of Riven and Brandon, Nex. Yeah, all of this is TOTALLY not racist! And that's coming from a white man. Also, I wanna also point out that Nabu is NOT black! He is Indian, so he is coded as South Asian. Now that we got my rant out of the way, for his design I used the face/head of Naveen from The Princess and the Frog, the body of Flynn Rider from Tangled (I wanted to use Naveen but there wasn't a base of him to use or a tasteful nude picture of him), and the eyes of Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I also chose to keep his super long single braid instead of the two shoulder blade length braids he had in season 4. Why? Because it just looks SO MUCH better and is more badass. Non-white men just look amazing with long hair. He is still a prince but he doesn't come from Layla's planet, Andros. Why? Because that planet is water themed and his powers aren't related to water. His powers are illusions and healing, so it only makes sense that he comes from another planet, especially when the rules of Andros are black while Nabu and his family are Indian. He and Layla are in an arranged marriage, which she refuses and their relationship still goes the same way it did in season 3. Except, I'm having them meet during my Sirenix story line because that season would be about Layla, due to it being water themed. He still went by a disguised name, Ophir before revealing his true identity once they fell in love. So I'm giving true respect to the Sorcerer of Healing and Illusions.
And now for Brandon and Helia's Believix!
Just like the girls, Brandon and Helia are getting Believix and Enchantix forms. For the Believix forms I took inspiration from @teawithlemonacid, who did some fanart of The Specialists as fairies. I did make some adjustments of my own but still did take inspiration from that artist, so credit where credit is due. As I said when I did the girls with their Believix, the way they earn their Believix is pretty much the same way they earned their Charmix in season 2. They have to believe in themselves and overcome a personal struggle. I also took liberties with the Believix aesthetic because of how I want the fairy looks to be more timeless rather than dated-looking.
Brandon's Believix
Tumblr media
For Brandon's design, I gave him a new hairstyle because if the girls get new hairstyles for each new fairy form, so do the boys. I gave him Nex's hair, apart from those dumb looking sideburns. I embroidered some stoned onto his outfit because of how he's the fairy of geodes. Since I also decided to have his race be Middle Eastern, I decided to incorporate some of that into his look as well. I gave him some curled toed shoes and some Middle Eastern inspired accessories. That was hard because of how most Middle Eastern jewelry are women's jewelry. I gave him Tecna's Mythix wings because they just really suit him for some reason. As for how he earned his Believix, well he had to overcome some hidden resentment he had for Sky that was starting to show during a trust exercise. He resented that he had to put his life on the line for Sky ever since they were kids. That really effects a child when they are having their lives in danger in order to protect someone else. Yes, Brandon did agree to do it in order to protect his friend but he also knew that if he didn't do it that he and his parents would be in trouble with the King and Queen. Sky's parents didn't really show much concern for Brandon's safety and that caused more resentment because Sky didn't really say anything to his parents about their poor treatment of his friend. Sky could tell something was up and it was only when Brandon stopped bottling up his feelings that things started to get better. It was emotional and difficult but Brandon felt better when he finally let it all out. It was then that he earned his Believix.
Helia's Enchantix
Tumblr media
homeworldHelia's Believix was A LOT of fun to do. I loved getting to have his hair loose because it looks amazing. I didn't make too many changes to the outfit I modeled this after. I love how the gold has a paint-like feel to it. It really adds to his powers being art based. I used Flora's prototype Bloomix wings for his Believix wings because they just seemed to suit him. I also had the magic coming from his hand looking even bigger and more powerful than it was during his Magic Winx form. The way he earns his Believix was different from how others earned their Believix. instead of mainly being an emotional struggle, it was also a physical struggle because he had to overcome his passive nature. He has a lot of power but he holds himself back because of an accident that happened when he was a kid. Because he didn't restrain himself, a friend of his got badly hurt. The friend lived but his parents wouldn't allow him to be friends with Helia anymore. After that, Helia kept to himself, chose not to be aggressive, and wouldn't live up to his true abilities because of that accident. His grandfather, Saladin (The headmaster at Red Fountain), has been trying to break him out of it and live up to his true potential. It was only when his friends, specifically Flora, were in danger that he finally overcame his passive nature and started using his full power. This caused him to earn his Believix.
And finally for Helia and Brandon's Enchantix
We have come to Helia and Brandon's final transformations, Enchantix. Just like the girls, they must earn theirs by saving someone from their homeworld by making a big sacrifice. The boys were hard to do, due to how there wasn't really anything for me to go off of. However, I think I managed to do a pretty good job. I also wanted to have them be in revealing outfits just like the girls. I mean, fair is fair, after all. Let me know what you think.
Helia's Enchantix
Tumblr media
For Helia, I wanted to do something that had an Asian influence to it that also showed his art powers being influenced. I gave him something that was very flowing to go with his sensitive and feminine personality while also having a rainbow theme to go with his powers. I didn't use the colors of the rainbow because I didn't want him to just look like a Pride themed look, which ended up looking awkward and busy when I first attempted it. So I limited the colors to the ones in his wings to make it look better. I still wanted to include his two main colors, salmon pink and gold while still making the rainbow colors pop. I went with a very Asian inspired hairstyle, which actually shows both of his eyes. The eye that is usually covered is actually blind, which goes with the childhood backstory I gave him that helped him earn his Believix, which will also play a part in earning his Enchantix, which I will get to in a little bit. I felt it would show him embracing himself while also showing the Asian culture. I took some liberties with the jewelry because of how most jewelry is meant for women, which is why most male looks are boring. I tried to butch up his shoes to make them look less girly and making the gems resemble a paintbrush. For his wings, I used Stella's Mythix wings because they look like a rainbow, which really suits Helia. I made his powers in his hand the biggest and strongest they've looked out of all his fairy forms. As for how he earns his Enchantix, I had him save his old childhood friend, who Helia had accidentally caused to become permanently blind because of his powers, which also caused Helia to become blind in his right eye. He had seen him but was avoiding him because of his guilt, despite his old friend trying to reach out to him during this time. He saves his old friend from an avalanche that was caused by The Trix, specifically Stormy. Helia not only almost died but his wings were crushed, so he wouldn't be able to fly. He said that he lost his friend once because of something he did and wasn't going to lose his friend again when he could do something about it. However, it was due to this sacrifice that he was able to earn his Enchantix and gain a new and MUCH stronger pair of wings. Not only that, but he had his old friend back after all this time. Helia apologized for what he did to his friend when they were kids, but his friend forgave him and said he missed Helia.
Brandon's Enchantix
Tumblr media
Brandon's Enchantix was even more difficult than Helia's because of how Brandon's not as feminine as Helia. I took some inspiration from Tynix because of how Brandon's powers are related to geodes. I made his vest and best/waist thing look like diamonds. I even incorporated gems into his sash. I took major liberties with jewelry because Middle Eastern (Which is the race I decided Brandon is) jewelry is very limited in jewelry for men, at least from the google search I did. I love the one sleeve look I gave him with his emerald vest/armor. I even gave him some gems on the bottom of his pants. I gave him very Aladdin looking pants, only without the crotch being so low lol. I gave him the hairstyle of the character Thoren from Winx Club and Stella's Tynix wings. The way he earns his Enchantix was by saving Sky from being eaten by one of Valtor's minions, causing Brandon to be eaten instead. This cause Brandon to earn his Enchantix and his powers were enhanced to where he could destroy the creature from the inside. This earned him not only his Enchantix, but also finally getting respect from Sky's parents, who, AT LAST, apologize for how they treated him. Yeah, this is simple but you get the point.
ENJOY!

Expunged- Part I
The radio crackled in Chao's ship as he flew toward the location of the distress signal at light speed, he could just barely make out what it was saying but he was able to decipher the coordinates. He jolted out of light speed as he passed by the atmosphere of Jupiter, the titanic jovian cast a shadow on him so dark that if he didn't have lights he would not be able to see much. He looked over at another green colored moon that orbited the planet, Io was lost to the Darkness now. As he kept going the navigation system told him he was getting closer to the signal. That's when he realized where it was coming from and why there was so much static. The icy moon of Europa slowly orbited on Chao's left.
Chao was apprehensive as he was pulled into the planet's orbital gravity, the last time he was here was not pleasant. He had come here on a mission to scope out a new arena for his Crucible, all he found was a ship frozen in ice, broken in half and a Clovis Bray machine gun prototype. Along with a heap of trouble, it was a notoriously bad place for his kind. He couldn't leave now though, he'd already come this far and wasn't backing out if he could help whoever it was on the radio.
The ship sat down on a snowy plateau, the wind was blowing it everywhere and Chao could barely make out where he was going, not only that but the armor he wore was not fit for this type of weather. The cold didn't effect him of course, he was an Exo but the snow was so deep and his helmet had no thermals. He took off the navigation system from his ship and clipped it onto his belt as his Mark blew in the wind. Then he set it to where it would alert him if he was at his destination. For now he grabbed his pulse rifle, No Feelings and trudged through the snow following the lights on the other side of the ridge that shone through the blizzard.
He made his way toward the lights and the radio static began to come through a little clearer. Though the howling wind still made it hard to tell what was being said, he knew he was close, he saw the remains of an old facility captured in the icy surface. The front of it seemed like it was torn open by someone... or something. He proceeded with caution and kept his weapon close by as he descended down into the cavern that used to be enclosed but was now at the mercy of the treacherous weather. He turned on the light on his helmet to see better as he walked down the stairs and out into an area that reminded him of Titan's Arcology. Golden Age maybe, sleek designs. It was a miracle this place was still running after all this time. He stepped through the hallway and the door mechanism showed a green light before sliding open. The blinding light from the next room poured in and Chao's blue eyes whirred as they adjusted to let less light in. Pointless for Exos other than having to keep them as accurate to humans as possible. Chao stepped through the door to the giant room and he looked on what he saw with worry. First thing he saw was the logo. Clovis Bray Exoscience. Second thing he saw was the Crux. The loudspeaker gave a three toned trill before he heard a voice.
"Welcome home my robotic savior. I trust that you... recognize where you are now." Chao gave a nod, though it was small.
"I am the one who sent the distress signal, however I am not in any danger no, on the contrary I am perfectly content right where I am."
"And where might that be?" Chao tried seeing if he could figure out what was going on.
"Not sure... I seem to be surrounded by late uh- experiments of what this facility studied back in our Golden Age. All by the great Clovis Bray the First, father of Clovis Bray the Second and grandfather to Ana and Elsie Bray. One of the greatest minds of our time, for you see he was never afraid to do what needed to be done for the betterment of humanity. You were once researched here to travel the cosmos and beyond, however we all know that is not possible with the means you attempt now... shame. Instead you were created for something more dire, you Chao-5 were built for war." Chao didn't hear the door lock behind him as the voice monologued.
"All Exos were built for war, but that doesn't mean we all followed what we were created to do." The voice laughed at that.
"Really? So toting around high powered weapons and wielding Light and Dark against those that seek to win isn't for war?"
"I serve to protect the last of humanity, I do not use my Light with reckless abandon, I use it to shield those who cannot carry one of their own." Chao said firmly.
"Your track record says otherwise." The voice challenged. "Chao-4, Vanguard reprimand: War Crimes. Quote: Using Striker powers against enemy force innocents. Chao-4, Vanguard reprimand: Misuse of power and broken Crucible rules. Quote: Blatant disregard for teammates lives, four injured, 2 killed." Chao stood still, he couldn't speak.
"Sounds like that fight is still inside you. It hasn't gone anywhere, no maybe how many times you try to reset yourself you were created to do battle. You are an Exo, it is your prime directive, the Clarity that Clovis used still remains after all this time." The voice was behind him now it Whispered in his audio sensors.
"You've merely directed your fighting toward a different cause. Now I am going to do the same." Chao couldn't move, he was trapped in an overshield of shadow that encased him. The voice came into view, a Warlock draped in shadow, Awoken, his hair almost looked like Ken's. He fired a round from Chao's own pulse rifle into his chest plate and it shattered. The Warlock hooked up a cord to one of the nearby work stations and began to scroll through Chao.
"Don't worry, just like you've lived your whole life... you won't feel a thing. You will fight for us now Chao-6."
