I've reached season 5 on my CSI rewatch and I'm a few episodes past "Swap Meet", where a woman is murdered after attending a swing party with other couples from the neighbourhood. Near the end of the episode there's a moment that made me jump from my seat:
(Grissom walks up to Sara and takes the seat next to her. He's holding two cups. He hands her a cup of tea.)
[INT. POLICE DEPARTMENT - BRASS' OFFICE]
Erin Brady: Everybody fantasizes about other people. (She glances at Grissom.)
Even you, Mr. Grissom. A neighbor, a friend ... girl at the office.
[INT. POLICE DEPARTMENT - HALLWAY]
(The door opens. Paul Brady walks out of the hallway. Erin Brady walks out into the hallway. Sara is sitting in the hallway chair watching them. She watches as they meet and kiss.)
(Grissom walks up to Sara and takes the seat next to her. He's holding two culps. He hands her a cup of tea.)

Right after Erin ends her sentence with 'girl at the office', the first time Sara and Grissom meet again, he brings her tea. This might be an innocent interaction but to me it seemed like a nod to this relationship they have where both are into each other, know about the other's feelings, but can't/won't do anything about it (although Sara has kind of given Grissom an ultimatum). I don't know if it was intentional - I'm guessing it is, because I picked it up immediately. I might or might not have squealed in delight.

i am begging on my hands and knees for jon matteson and bryce charles to sing a song together. since i first watched npmd, every single day without fail i have thought about their harmonies together in hatchet town (“if he gets me next i could be three” and “fits the bill, he fits the bill”) literally the sickest harmonies in the entire show, i turn into a little gremlin every time i hear them. their voices sound SO good together it actually makes me a little ill. my favourite song my favourite line my favourite harmonies, their voices blend perfectly and i am so desperate to hear them sing a duet to hear them singing together again pls pls please pls pls pls. pls.

“Cool. Sorry, I don’t know why I asked you that. I actually don’t care that much.”
“Okay, let’s cut the bullshit. Are you really a gardener?”
“You sound sad.”
THE GARDENER — “Do I?” She smiles shyly. “Sorry. I was getting nostalgic.”
DRAMA — She’s laying it on a little thick, but she isn’t lying. You touched a nerve.
YOU — “Was she a gardener, too?”
THE GARDENER — “…She wanted to be,” she says, her voice measured. “But we rarely end up where we want to be, wouldn’t you say?”
INLAND EMPIRE — Yes. You would. You don’t even remember where or who you hoped to be, but it can’t have been anything like *this.* No one would ever want to be you.
“Yeah. You’re right. I mean, look at *me.* I hope I didn’t end up like this intentionally. That would be pretty weird.”
“Hey, it’s never too late to give it a shot.”
THE GARDENER — “I mean, it is for her,” she says drily. “She’s dead.”
EMPATHY — Oh.
YOU — “Oh.”
THE GARDENER — “Why are you asking so many questions about my grandmother, anyway? I can assure you she didn’t put that body in the tree. On account of being dead.”
“You never can tell. She could have faked her death. I have to explore every possibility. I’m told that’s what detectives do. And also that I’m a detective.”
“Okay, you got me, I don’t actually care about your grandma. I care about why you’re spying on us.”
“Just curious. It sounds like she meant a lot to you.”
THE GARDENER — Her expression flickers again, almost imperceptibly.
COMPOSURE — She’s trained herself well to keep a straight face. Strange for a gardener.
THE GARDENER — “…She still does,” she admits quietly. “She gave up her home and her garden to take care of me. And then worked herself to death, quite literally.”
EMPATHY — There’s bitterness in her voice, but not toward her grandmother. More likely toward the job that wore her down to nothing.
ELECTROCHEMISTRY — Without the speed and the nicotine and the booze to smooth out all those harsh edges, you would have been worn down to nothing by now, too.
“That’s the economy for you. She should have worked on her hustle.”
“I totally understand. Being a cop is really hard.”
“Well, at least *you* ended up where you wanted to be. I’m sure she’d be glad that you became a gardener.”
THE GARDENER — Slowly, like the snow on the breeze, her gaze falls from you to her gloved hands. Her face is still as stone.
“Yes,” she says hollowly. “She would.”

and now to reveal the true purpose of a pokemon au: giving all the characters pokemon so I can imagine cute little scenarios w/ them and their mons.
So for ‘Hikaru’ I’m feeling a Ninetales and Yanma. Ninetales was Hikaru’s; Yanma he caught in the summer. The stone for evolving Vulpix was a gift from his late father, and he had the Vulpix much earlier than was typical training age. Yoshiki can’t remember a time Hikaru didn’t have a Pokemon by his side. At the same time, Hikaru was never very good with Pokemon, so Ninetales remained the only member of his team.
Then Yoshiki has a Grimer, Teddiursa, and Murkrow. He got the Grimer as a kid while visiting Tokyo as they’re quite common in densely populated areas- less so in cleaner rural areas, making it’s an odd sight in Kubitachi. Teddiursa is a much more common pokemon, and while it is cute, its evolution is less so for how dangerous it is. Murkrow are generally despised as pests. Known pranksters, the ones on the mountains are blamed for a lot of missing people as they’re known to lead people astray. Yoshiki’s team choices are widely discussed and criticized.
Next few are less set in stone:
Asako: Azumarill, Flaafy
Yuuki: Ivysaur
Maki: Elekid, Magikarp (based on two in-universe baseball teams)
#I limited my options to gens 1 & 2 as well as a lvl cap of 20 for the kids#Btw none of them are like professional trainers traveling around the region. Theyve pkmn in the same way everyone in the pkmn universe does#Pets and companions. Occasionally battling for fun or to settle smth#I also didn’t want to give them too many ‘mons although I’m considering giving Asako another#Keeping Yuuki at 1. She’s the type to only be able to dedicate herself to 1 Pokemon at a time#Like she knows everything about caring for /Ivysaur/. Nothing else. Not even for a Bulbasaur. She forgot all that as soon as it evolved#But uh I also ain’t too sure about Ivysaur for her. I wanted smth with a type opposite Azumarill#Which leaves the grass/poisons; the Magnemite line; and the Houndour line#But I want Yoshiki to have the only dark type and Magnemite wouldn’t fit in w/ the rural vibe imo. So just Oddish; Bellsprout; and Ivysaur#hikaru ga shinda natsu#the summer hikaru died#hgsn#my hgsn shit#pokemon hgsn

#honestly Halsin could have a bit more meat on him but I was really struggling with him so I’m taking him as he is#I do not know how to draw Gale.#frankly though him looking like he wandered out of an illuminated manuscript is too funny to redraw him#I switched La’zel and Astarion’s heights#(because yes everybody’s height was taken from lining up the party from the composition screens to get their rough heights)#because it’s fucked up and evil that Astarion is not a short king and that La’zel is only a little bit taller than Shadowheart#speaking of her I love big fuck off weight lifter Shadowheart and you can’t stop me#Wyll is now no longer the only one wearing period appropriate(ish) braises because the weirdly modern underwear weirds me out#I based everybody’s* body types off different Olympic athletes#*accept Gale because he’s a wizard and Halsin because I forgor#I settled on rock climber for Wyll because it felt the most fitting for him#La’zel is a mix of runner/basketball player because Gith are supposed to be tall and thin but she’s also one of the strongest party members#Astarion is a very dehydrated featherweight boxer#because again the man is short I will die on this hill it’s just the vibe#and finally Karlach is actually based on body builders but less in the superhero way and more in the.#has muscle but also really isn’t eating enough or the right stuff#way#making her La’zel and Astarion are the only ones who keep defined 6 packs#(La’zel gets one because Gith are canonically thin and so presumably naturally very low in body fat)#(and also because it draws attention away from her not having a belly button)#(I understand in some birds/reptiles it’s where the yolk sac attached but also that’s a cop out)#also she gets her facial scars from earlier versions because why the fuck doesn’t she#her body is so messed up and her face looks like she stole it#sketchin’#but only barely because I am not cleaning this up#Karlach and her scars AND tattoos can go back to hell

i've watched the triple MyGO anime ep yesterday but i can't stop thinking about tomori.. i think she is the most autistic character i've seen tbh and i definitely had a spiritual experience while watching it ngl
