My pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand.
thoughts on reader meeting billy, before her arranged marriage is announced to her.

His temper was not usually easy to trigger. He took pride in that, he could be a calm and collected leader at anything, with any gang.
That was until he met your husband, or soon-to-be husband. Your fiancé. Or your father’s fiancé. As you did not pick him, did not love him, did not get chills under his touch as you did with Billy.
His jaw clenched when he saw the man’s arm wrap around your waist, almost like he was claiming you. Almost like you were his. And you weren’t to be owned of course, but Billy knew you weren’t his own either. You’d never be. You might not have believed that. You might’ve thought that when you locked eyes behind your fiancé’s back an ounce of hope could be seen in Billy’s eyes, but there wasn’t. It was just your disastrous imagination, confirming your delusions, that you were to get away from the stranger holding you, run away with Billy, get to see those eyes with relief and not guilt.
But there wasn’t anything darker than these delusions, not even his eyes, darker than the last corner of the deep ocean, but not darker than your thoughts.
You couldn’t even deny it. You couldn’t lie to yourself, if anything look at Billy in the eye and say that he understands you more than Billy, he loves you more than Billy, he’s better in any way. You couldn’t eventually remember the few, short-lived conversations you’ve had, but with Billy you remembered his every word. He remembered your every word. Your ways of thinking were in such harmony, that you could tell what he wanted just by looking at him from across the room.

“I love you, Billy. But you wouldn’t handle it, I’m not worth it.”
“You’re worth of everything, I’d live in hell forever if you were hosting it.”
~
You have been cursed in this lifetime, you might’ve been sure of that, but he’d find you in another. He’d fight a whole company to find you. And you knew you’d search for him until the ivy around you that he grew from his heart, would die. And that wouldn’t happen, because the only fire that burns, burns inside of you every time you see him.
