Road to Berlin Episode 8 Highlights: Part 1, A Matter of Trust
Tumblr media
Oh boy, I guess I might as well nerd out weekly.
Once again, Strike Witches: Road to Berlin surprised and delighted me! This week’s episode was all about Eila and Sanya’s relationship (and I do mean relationship), and suffice to say that, while I was confident the episode would turn out well, I have to admit I had some concerns.
Eila and Sanya are a difficult pairing to get right. Seems odd for me to say that, but Sanya’s emotional spectrum tends to be narrow--at least outwardly. Eila, on the other hand, runs the gamut of expressions. She can be sweet and attentive, but also obsessive and jealous, and outspoken and stubborn.
I’ve always had some small beef with her in the past, as her obsession with Sanya sometimes crossed over into the possessive. Not that Sanya ever let that stand; she’s perfectly capable of telling Eila to stow her bullshit, as she did most prominently in season 2. However, I was slightly worried Eila would revert to that behavior for this episode.
Tumblr media
But Road to Berlin came through once again, and I needn’t have worried. Not only was Eila perfectly pleasant--aside from some moaning and groaning, but that’s just part of her--this episode did what I thought would be impossible:
It made me feel sorry for her. For Eila. This floored me.
The central conceit of this episode’s story is an impossible situation. Both Sanya and Eila have sensory powers, but they work differently: Sanya is the world’s cutest portable radar, and Eila is a mystic with the power of short-term future sight. They’re placed into a situation where they encounter a Neuroi capable of emitting fog so dense, it obscures one’s sight at 5 meters.
Tumblr media
And in these conditions, they both detect a Neuroi at a different location. They’re forced to retreat from it the first time, but Sanya comes up with a plan, and trains Eila, Yoshika and Shizuka for it. Through this training, it’s revealed that Sanya and Eila have a familiarity with one another that Yoshika and Shizuka lack. The former pair synchronizes perfectly and instinctively, but the latter has much work to do. This builds up Sanya and Eila’s relationship and mutual trust for the viewer.
Unfortunately, everything goes wrong when they sortie to execute this plan. Just like the first time, Eila senses an attack coming from a different direction that Sanya is sensing the Neuroi in. And when Eila fires at this new threat in an attempt to save Sanya, not only do her bullets inexplicably whiff, but she blows the element of surprise Sanya was relying on.
They’re forced to retreat again, and in that moment, the trust between them is lost.
What comes next is yet another example of the excellent character writing in Road to Berlin, because it ensures that Eila and Sanya’s relationship is one of equals.
Tumblr media
They end up fighting, but neither of them give ground--after all, they’re both 100% certain they’re in the right. Both of them are flabbergasted and miffed that the other won’t believe them. But while Eila obviously feels bad and wants to make up, Sanya stonewalls her and takes her off the mission. (More on her motivation in the next highlight, which I won’t be able to post tonight.)
The thing is, they’re both perfectly justified, and that’s why this fight works. This isn’t some petty teenage drama crap where the viewer suffers from second-hand embarrassment at an obvious misunderstanding. This is about two people in a situation that shouldn’t be possible, and that means both of them are in the right.
Sanya is, quite frankly, stone-cold about the whole thing. She seems very good at prioritizing her mission over her feelings for now. Again, I felt bad for Eila, who was only doing her best. But to my utmost surprise, she took it all in stride. She was shocked and hurt, but she didn’t yell, she didn’t cry, and she didn’t mope. She had faith in Sanya and went back to something constructive: finishing those amazingly cute Finnish decorations, the himmeli.
Tumblr media
In the end, Eila realizes that Sanya couldn’t sense the Neuroi that Eila had picked up on, and she swoops in to save the others just in time. It turns out that the Neuroi Sanya detected is a drone--a Neuroi without a core--and that it’s being controlled by the main body. This main Neuroi is shaped like a himmeli, essentially a stick figure with very little solid mass.
I have to admit I don’t know exactly how radars work, and it’s too late in the evening for me to verify, but it seems plausible that Sanya’s radar didn’t have enough material to work with. This Neuroi was so slight in form that the radar never pinged anything back, as demonstrated by the sunlight passing through Eila's himmeli above.
Tumblr media
To finish it off, Eila and Sanya re-synchronize their efforts: Eila uses her future sight to determine where the Neuroi’s moving core is going to be and literally hugs that spot so that Sanya, who can pick up on her location, has something to aim at. Sanya, naturally, is unwilling to shoot at Eila, but with a plea from Eila to believe in her, she fires a rocket and destroys the core with perfect timing.
Although having one character tell the other to believe in them is very corny and frequently used, I still felt this resolution to the fight was a wonderful way to showcase their regained mutual trust.
And of course, we end with everyone celebrating Saturnalia. It turns out that Eila’s efforts didn’t go unnoticed; Yoshika and Shizuka both made a himmeli, and Sanya did the same...as a gift to Eila. This leads to the most heartwarming moment of an already wholesome episode.
Tumblr media
Sanya, the mild-mannered, reclusive ghost, is one smooth operator. And Eila, the outspoken and stubborn loudmouth, is reduced to a blushing mess.
Love takes many forms, and this is one of them.

Baby’s First Stuffed Animal
Chapter One of “All in One Day”
There are going to be four total “Baby’s First”s in this part, which is different from what I’ve done before.
Summary - A stop at a local market gives Din and his son something that money can’t buy.
AO3
Just like every morning since they left Nevarro after their final fight, Din woke up calmly without jolting awake like he used to. The time Din was spending with his son had left him the happiest and most relaxed he had been in decades. The baby was still sleeping in Din’s lap, snoring softly. Looking out the windows of the cockpit, Din saw that the snowstorm from yesterday had ended and a blanket of snow had fallen across the ground. It was only a few inches, so it wouldn’t cause any problems for their trek to the market. The early morning sun reflected against the ground, highlighting certain spots to make them appear as if they were glowing.
Din preferred going to markets early in the morning because there would be less people and he would draw less eyes. The child was still asleep, so Din tucked him into his bassinet and began the walk to the market with the bassinet floating at his side. The child would wake soon and would cry if he saw that his father was not near. Din also wanted to buy the child some new toys and clothes and wanted the child’s approval before he bought them.
The snow crunching under Din’s boots was the only sound of the early morning in the market town. The few people awake at this hour were either merchants or other people who wanted to shop without the presence of large crowds. Din wanted to stock up on supplies for at least another month, but he also wanted to buy some street food for the child and himself as a special treat. The child loved any kind of meat that Din provided for him, so he was sure that he would find something from a street vendor that the child would gobble up.
The first stall that Din came across sold portions of veg-meat and polystarch bread, of which Din bought many. They also sold dried fruit, which contained many of the same nutrients as regular fruit but didn’t go bad as fast, so Din traded credits for those as well.
Moving on, Din heard soft babbles from the bassinet on his right and looked over to see that the child was awake and staring at him. Din reached out to affectionately stroke one of his son’s ears and the child sighed sweetly in response.
The next few stalls had nothing that Din was interested in, but he could see that the child was absorbing everything he saw with curious eyes. Din eventually found a stall that sold clothes and found a set of pants and shirt that would fit the child. As Din reached into his pocket to pay, the vendor, who had just finished with another customer, asked, “Is that your child?” as she pointed to the bassinet at Din’s side. The child was peeking his head out and staring at the clothes in front of him with wide eyes.
Din responded with a quick, “Yes,” before dropping a few credits into the vendor’s open palm.
“If you are looking for supplies for a child, there’s an old woman named Eila a few stalls over that sell things for children.” The vendor said, pointing Din in the direction of said stall. Din nodded and began his way over to said stall. Even from a distance, the stand stood out to him because of the colorful toys on display. The child must have noticed as well because he began to coo excitedly.
A woman with grey hair, whom Din presumed to be Eila, noticed him making his way to her stall and smiled at him with a, “Welcome, Mandalorian. What can I help you with?”
Din nodded at her and said, “I’m looking for some toys for my son.” As Din finished his sentence, the child reached out of his bassinet and grabbed the table, using it as leverage to pull himself out. Din instantly reached out to grab him and pull him to his chest, but Eila only laughed.
“It seems he is excited for some new toys,” she said with amusement in her voice. The child was reaching above his head with grabby hands, clearly seeing something he wanted. Din looked to see what it was and saw that it was a stuffed animal in the shape of a mythosaur. Its face looked almost identical to the pendant that the child refused to part from, which was probably why he was drawn to it. There was only one problem; the stuffed mythosaur was at least three times the size of the baby. If he kept it in his bassinet, which he was bound to do, it would easily engulf him with its size.
Eila laughed again and said, “He likes the mythosaur. I admit that I’ve been trying to sell that for a while, and no better client than a Mandalorian’s child. Would you like to have it?”
“Yes, please. How much do I owe you?” Din asked, putting the baby back in his bassinet.
Eila shook her head as she pulled the mythosaur down and placed it in Din’s hands, “You can have it free of charge. I haven’t seen a child this cute be this excited over a toy in a long time.”
Surprised by her kindness, Din only managed to say, “Thank you.”
Seeing the toy he so desperately wanted in his father’s hands, the child reached out of his bassinet and grabbed at the toy while whimpering. Quick to stop any possible crying, Din placed the mythosaur into the child’s outstretched arms. He quickly disappeared behind the huge toy, but Din saw him wrap his arms around it and snuggle into it.
“May I ask you a question?” the vendor whispered, pulling Din from the moment he was having with his son. He nodded, knowing she was probably going to ask him a question about his culture.
“Do you remove your armor to hold him?” she asked unexpectedly. Din had never thought to do so as the child seemed perfectly content whenever Din held him.
“No, I do not,” Din replied.
Eila nodded and expressed, “Babies form better bonds when they can feel the warmth of their parent’s skin. I understand that you are a Mandalorian, but surely you are able to take a private moment to remove your armor to hold the little one. Skin-to-skin contact is necessary for proper development in children and while I know nothing of his species, I’m sure it would only help him.”
Din wasn’t sure what to say back. He wanted to be the best possible father to his son, so would that mean removing the armor that was meant to protect himself and his son? It would not be against the Creed to remove his armor to hold his son, so why did the idea of doing so scare Din so much?
“I’ll think about it,” was Din’s response. For most, such a phrase has a “no” hidden behind it, but Din is someone who chooses his words carefully to ensure the meaning behind them. The woman smiled and replied, “I understand. May I recommend some other things for you to take home with you for your little one?”
In the end, Din walked away with several illustrated children’s books, a music box, some art supplies and paper, and two more sets of clothes for the child. Din also purchased two meat kebabs from a vendor as breakfast for himself and the child. Happy with his purchases for the day, Din began to make his way back to the Razor Crest. The child was still happily snuggled into the belly of his new toy, grasping it tightly as if he never wanted to let go.
Once back on the Razor Crest, Din began to put his purchases away while the child ran around the ship, dragging the mythosaur behind him by its tail and giggling loudly. Din couldn’t help but smile at the happy image of his tiny baby dragging his huge toy behind him. Din’s thoughts brought him back to the words of Eila and he sighed deeply. As he watched his son run in a circle with the mythosaur at his heels, he was reminded of the fact that he would sacrifice everything for this child. He had already risked his career and life for his son, now he would sacrifice his armor.
Din began the process of removing his chest and shoulder plates while continuing to watch his child playing. After running in a circle for so long, the child became dizzy and tired, plopping onto the ground and breathing heavily. Din reached down to pick up his son, who was more than happy to be held. Pressing him to his chest, Din heard the child sigh at being able to feel the warmth of Din’s chest. He brought his little hands up to grasp at his shirt and rested another hand over Din’s heart.
The affection and love of the moment brought a flow of unstoppable words from Din’s mouth, “Listen, little one, I’ve never really had another person to spend my time with so I’m not really good with my words or actions. I … I want to be a good dad to you, but I’m not sure how to do that. No matter what, I promise you that I’m always going to take care of you, protect you, and keep you happy. You make me very happy and if you’re even half as happy in my company as I am in yours, then I think I’ve succeeded.”
As Din continued to feel his son against his chest for the first time, the words just continued to spill from his mouth. He told his son of his own parents and how they sacrificed themselves for him and that Din was prepared to do the same for his child. He told him how the foundlings were highly valued among Mandalorians and that family was extremely important to them. How to be a Mandalorian was to be prepared to lay your life down for your family at any time.
“You are my ad, my son, and I am your buir, your father. I will protect you always and I will love you always,” Din finished, leaning down to press his forehead to the top of his child’s head. The baby cooed and Din leaned back up to look at his son. The baby grabbed the fabric near his shoulders to pull himself up in order to wrap his arms around Din’s neck in a hug. Din sighed and embraced his son, grateful to the wise old woman who had helped him bond with his baby.

Behind The Marriage - Harry Styles Series (Part 36)
Tumblr media
Part 35
The sound of a baby’s cry filling the bedroom, caused Harry to shoot up from the bed. He groaned as he felt dizzy from the abrupt movement from his sleep. Once he had a little bit of a handle on things, he got up from the bed and quickly went over to take little Amelia in his arms. Finn was still sleeping, despite his sister’s wails. In order to keep it that way, Harry took Amelia into th nursery across the hall and shut the door.
“What’s the matter, love? Hm?” Harry whispered holding her to his naked chest.
She whimpered as he held her, looking out the window as the moonlight shone inside. The babies were officially over a month old and they were mostly sleeping through the night, only waking up for one or two feedings. Luckily, you were eventually able to start producing enough milk, so you were able to pump in between feedings. That helped a lot because having the extra milk on hand meant you didn’t have to always get up to feed the babies and that Harry could tend to them.
“Are you hungry?” He yawned. “Your nappy’s still dry, so it’s not that.”
She nuzzled her head against him, still cooing and whimpering, but nothing like before. Harry smiled kissing her little head as he walked around the room, swaying her in his arms a little. Fatherhood was everything he had hoped it would be and more. He absolutely loved his tiny humans made up of both you and him. They were both still quite young, but it was getting obvious day by day that Finn looked just like a mini Harry and Amelia looked just like a mini you.
However, their personalities were very much the opposite. After a bit, Harry sat down on the glider, rocking the two of them back and forth. Amelia’s eyes stared up at him, sleepily as he took her tiny hand in his. He started humming as he looked down at her before singing softly. What looked like a smile crossed her lips and her eyes were fighting to stay open. It take long before she finally dozed off.
Harry watched her for a few minutes before quietly walking back into the bedroom. You and Finn were still fast asleep as he placed a now sleeping Amelia back into the bassinet. He smiled kissing her tiny forehead once more before heading over to the bed. He slid in beside you and you quickly wrapped your arms around him. Harry smiled cuddling into you as he closed his eyes.
**
Later the next day, you and Harry decided to get out of the house and take the babies on a walk around the neighborhood. It was one of the only times you’ve actually gone out of the house with the babies since they were born besides doctor visits. You and Harry were still quite protective over them and the media finding pictures, so you wanted to keep them hidden as much as possible.
It wasn’t that you didn’t want people to know or see them it’s just that you knew how cruel people could be and your babies were innocent. It was a crisp autumn day, so you dressed them in warm onesies and socks with little beanies on their heads.
“Only you would buy our babies matching Gucci onesies,” you laughed.
“Hey! They were a gift!” he defended.
“Well, excuse me,” you joked.
“You have to admit that they’re cute though,” he smirked.
“It’s true,” you nodded. “But I think that has everything to do with me and not the onesies.”
“And what about me? Pretty sure I was there for the making of these adorable babies,” he gasped.
“All two minutes?” You joked.
“Heeeyyy! You’re not being very nice to me!” he whined.
“You know I love you,” you smiled kissing his cheek.
“Yeah and you love taking the piss out of me,” he pouted.
“Oh because you don’t do the same thing to me?” you raised an eyebrow.
“Of course not,” he smirked. “I’d never do such a thing.”
“Glad it’s not storming because I’m pretty sure a bolt of lightening would just shoot through this house,” you joked.
“Anyway,” he rolled his eyes. “Let’s get this show on the road! The babies are ready.”
“The babies are sleeping,” you laughed looking at them in the side by side stroller.
Their hands were intertwined and you quickly snapped a picture. Harry smiled and the four of you headed out the door.
**
It felt amazing being out of the house. Even if was just for an quick stroll around the neighborhood. It wasn’t that you felt trapped in the house, but you and Harry really had left the house much since the babies were born. Between taking care of them and you healing from the delivery, you really didn’t have a reason to leave. Harry pushed the stroller as you walked beside him, holding onto his arm.
“This is nice,” you smiled laying your head on his shoulder as you walked. “We should do this more often.”
“We should,” he nodded kissing the top of your head. “How are you feeling?”
“Much better,” you said. “I’m still a little sore at times, but mostly when I’ve over done it.”
He nodded, “So, I’ve got something to run by you.”
“What’s that?” You asked.
“You know our Mum’s came over a few times to watch Finn and Eila while we got some rest?” He asked.
“You mean our lifesaver’s?” You giggled.
He laughed, “Yeah.”
“Of course, I do,” you said. “What about it?”
“Well, I was thinking, if you’re feeling up to it,” he said. “That maybe we could have them or Gemma over again to watch them while we went out to dinner. I know it’s been ages since we’ve been out of the house and it’s been even longer since we sort of had some time to ourselves. I’m not saying we go out for this huge night on the town, but if even it’s just a hour for dinner at a pub down the street, it’ll be worth it.”
You smiled, “Aww, do you miss me?”
He laughed, “What can I say? I’m a little jealous,” he joked.
You giggled, “I think-I think that’s a wonderful idea, but can we make it a little nicer than a pub? I kinda want to get dressed up a little bit since I’ve mostly been looking like a hot mess lately.”
“A beautiful hot mess,” he corrected.
You laughed shaking your head, “Anyway, yeah, I think that sounds lovely. We can see who is free soon and then go from there.”
“Sounds perfect,” he smiled.
**
A few nights later, you and Harry were getting ready for you big date night. Well, it was simply just dinner, but it was something you were really looking forward to. However, now that the time had come, you weren’t sure about leaving your babies. Yes, you trusted your mother and Gemma to take care of them, but it was just something about the act of both you and Harry leaving them behind that was strange.
Before, when your families came over, you and Harry were still in the house in case they needed you for something, but now you two would be at least twenty or so minutes away. But it was just dinner, so you and Harry would mostly be gone an hour to two hours at the most. You really wanted this night to go well and spend time with your husband, so you did your best to push away any negative thoughts about leaving the babies.
You kept your hair and makeup look simply, but still more than what you’ve done in what seems like months. You still weren’t comfortable wearing a dress quite yet due to your body still being in healing mode, so you settled on some black trousers and a nice blouse to match. When you walked out of the closet, Harry smiled as he looked you up and down.
“So fucking beautiful, baby,” he smiled.
You smiled with a hint of a blush at your cheeks, “Thank you, some of my things still don’t fit well yet.”
“You still look gorgeous,” he smiled. “Ready to go?”
“Let’s say bye to the babies first,” you said.
He laughed, “Of course.”
Your Mom and Gemma were in the nursery, each holding a baby in their laps as they played with their toys. They were more active at a month old than when you first brought them home from the hospital, but they also still mostly laid there and did nothing.
“Well don’t you two clean up well,” Gemma smiled.
“Thank you,” you smiled. “Now, you know you can call us if you need anything. We also can text you the name and the number of the restuarant in case you can’t get a hold of us. There are extra bottles in the fridge and there’s a bottle warmer in the kitchen as well as in our room. Feel free to use either. Oh and we have some milk in the freezer as well..”
“Y/N, “ your mom said. “You’re only going to be gone for a couple of hours. If we needed to feed them that many times to get the milk in the freezer than we’ve got a big problem,” she laughed.
“I’m sorry, this is just the first time I’m leaving them and want everything to be perfect,” you said.
“It will be,” she smiled. “Now, go and have fun.”
“Oh, I bought extra diapers in case you need them,” Harry said. “They’re downstairs in the living room.”
“I think we’ll be good,” Gemma said. “Again you two are only going to be gone for a bit.”
“I believe you’re underestimating just how many times the two of them might shit in just a couple of hours,” he laughed.
“It’s true,” you laughed. “We’ve got double diaper changes, so it stacks up.”
“We’ve got it!” Gemma laughed. “Now go before your late and miss your reservation.”
“Fine, fine, we’re going,” Harry laughed taking your hand and pulling you out of the room.
**
The drive to the restaurant was mostly silent. Only the sound of the radio playing filled the background as you and Harry held hands. It was nice having a moment like that, just being together, not having to say a word. It had been so long since you two shared a moment like this. When you got the restaurant, Harry gave the valet his car and the two of you walked inside.
The hostess sat you two down at a table near the back of the building, so you two could have your privacy. Usually it wasn’t such a big deal, but Harry wanted this to go perfectly and didn’t want either of you to be distracted or interrupted. You quickly grabbed the menu and scanned over it. Over the last month, many of your meals were either takeaway or something that was quick and easy to cook, so you were looking forward to a nice sit down meal.
Once you two placed your order, Harry took your hand in his, “I think we should do this at least once a month,” he smiled. “It’s nice to get away and have some time for us.”
“It is,” you nodded. “Thank you for arranging all this and coming up with the idea. It’s one of those things where you didn’t really realize you needed it until you have it.”
“I know, I’m just happy you were feeling up to it,” he said. “When do you go back to the doctor?”
“Um, two weeks I believe?” You said. “I’ve got in my in phone, but I’m pretty sure it’s soon.”
He nodded, “Do you want me to go with you?”
“If you want,” you said. “It’s mostly just to check everything, make sure everything’s healed and what not. I am probably going to bring the babies this time, so everyone can have a look.”
“I’ll go then,” he smiled. “Help you with them.”
“Thank you,” you smiled.
The waitress brought over some bread and poured two glasses of wine before walking away. You took a piece of bread and quickly took a bite before taking a sip of your wine.
“Can you believe we use to this at least a few times a week?” You asked. “Especially when you were out at the studio and now I can’t really remember the last time we did it.”
He laughed nodding, “I know it’s crazy how much everything’s changed so quickly, but it also feels like it’s been ages.”
“Exactly,” you smiled.
About twenty minutes later, your dinners were brought and you both started eating. Every so often, you two would take a quick look at your phone to check in and so far everything was going well. When it was time for desert, you looked over at Harry, who was acting strangely.
“What’s with you?” You laughed.
“Nothing, nothing at all,” he said simply finishing the last little bit of his wine.
“Right,” you said unconvinced. “I know when you’re up to something, so what is it?”
“Can you ever just let me surprise you?” He laughed pulling something out of his pocket.
It was a velvet box that was quite large, yet still small enough to fit inside of his coat pocket without being seen. He placed it on the table in front of you and you looked up at him.
“What’s this?” you asked.
“Open it,” he smiled.
You smiled as you pulled off the perfectly tied ribbon and opened the box. In side was a beautiful, rose gold bar necklace with the first initial of each of your’s, Harry’s, and the babies names engraved on it. You weren’t sure if it was the fact you weren’t expecting it, the fact that it was so beautiful, or your hormones still getting back to normal, but tears formed in your eyes as you ran your hand across it.
“It’s beautiful,” you whispered. “Perfect.”
Harry smiled getting up from his chair and walking over to you. He took the necklace out of the box and fastened it around your neck.
“Thank you,” you smiled. “I love it.”
You put your hand over the necklace as you tried to control your emotions a bit better.
“You’re welcome, baby,” he whispered kneeling down in front of you.
He took your hand into his and looked up at you. “You’ve made me the happiest I’ve ever been and since you brought our beautiful, amazing, son and daughter into this world, you’ve only made me even happier. I would give you the world if I could because you deserve it.”
You sniffled placing your hand on his cheek, “But you have,” you whispered. “You’ve given me everything I could have ever wanted in this world and more.”
He smiled, “I love you,” he whispered.
“And I love you,” you smiled before pressing your lips to his, pouring as much as your love for him as you could into the kiss.
**
Should this be the ending??? Don’t get me wrong I hate to see this story end, but I’m not sure how much more I have in me to keep it going without it getting boring! Let me know though!
Or I could try and write up a more clear ending post. If you have an idea on what you’d want me to include!

Becky took a step back, "What the hell is that?"
Finn sighed, closing his eyes until they returned to blue. "It's a long story"
"I got time, explain" Becky demanded, Drew stepping up next to her
Seth whimpered and licked Finn's face, causing Finn to smile, and lean down to rub his head against the wolf's.
"You know he doesn't like that story" Elias says gently
"I know" the vampire replied "Go play with Baron, Seth. Ember should be around somewhere as well."
With a huff and one last lick to the face of each vampire Seth ran off though the mansion to find his other friend, Baron following closely behind him.
"I recognize you as well, Cailleach na Mara and you are supposed to be very much dead." Finn says standing up and brushing off his black slacks before reaching down and helping his wife to her feet.
"So the hell are you cousin." Becky says with a snort
"Cousin!" Everyone exclaimed
"How…" Stephanie started to say
"I'm older then I look." Becky says easily, "MUCH older"
"You were killed by a Vampire." Becky says as if putting the pieces of a puzzle together "The clan told stories about seeing you still walking around after you'd died but…"
"Attacked by a vampire? Yes. Killed? Not so much"
"Prince Devitt did die that day, remember your memory problems?" Violet said.
"If you hadn't found me, I'd gone completely feral" Finn remised, kissing her head.
"Explain" Becky said
"I found him." Violet says "Dying. My sister attacked him and I saved him but his transition was….brutal and he lost a lot of his human memories. Balor has been slowly healing that part of his mind for well over a century"
"Now somebody explain why our child is a fully shifted wolf" Finn says
"Paul Heyman. He tried to turn Seth into...a slave for whatever reason. It didn't work out so well, but Seth's been like this for a while" Elias answered, making sure to step back.
Finn took a shaky breath, his eyes flashing between blue and red before finally settling on red. "Really Bálor?" Violet asked
"That....walrus, he tried to enslave our Puppy?" Balor roared causing everyone to wince and take a huge step back from the demon king. From somewhere in the house you could hear a howl and heavy four-legged footsteps, then from a corridor came Seth running, followed by Baron and a smaller wolf with orange-tipped black fur.
Seth, much to the discomfort of both Drew and Becky ran straight for the demon, who in a surprising show of strength caught the huge wolf.
"He's close with a demon...cool" Becky said, uneasy.
"We need to tell Shawn about this" Violet spoke up. "Tell a broken hearted fire sprite, 'Hey, the thing that killed your wife and twins? Yeah, his buddy tried to enslave your youngest nephew!' That? Is a death sentence" Eilas argues
"And it'd be better for him to find out later?" Violet asks
"I would highly suggest we save that conversation for after Seth is back in human form" Hunter says knowing his adopted brother well. "Seth is one of the few people who can keep Shawn calm, "
"We need your summoning circle and we need Balor to put one of his Shields around it, so we can turn him back" Stephanie explained to the pair, before asking Seth "How big are you now, so I can conjure you up some clothes"'
Elias looked down in surprise "Really? Finally had that growth spurt?" he smirked at the wolf before telling Stephanie "He says he's 6" 2" and kinda beefy?"
"Can finally fight me brother" Mox grinned, Seth growling playfully. Bálor set him down gently before summoning a ring of black fire around him. "How are we doing this" he gestured to Becky
Becky stepped forward and gestured to Stephanie,"Guide me through the counter-curse?"
Stephanie nodded "Are you ready, Starshine?"
"He's ready." Elias answered for the wolf
"Everyone back up, and keep that shield up Balor." Stephanie says taking the sea witch's hand and beginning to chant, her own golden magic soon being joined by Becky's ocean blue.
Stephanie began to pant with exertion as gold, blue and black magic surrounded Seth, who howled in pain
The magic flared almost all the way to the top of the high vaulted ceiling, completely obscuring the form within before finally fading and revealing a tall, tanned man with long dark, blond tipped hair and a thick beard, shivering and panting, with sharpened nails and fangs.
Stephanie magiked clothes on him before collasping into Humter's arms.
"Welcome back baby brother" Mox said.
"Glad to be back" Seth replied in a voice raspy from disuse, before he started to laugh for a few minutes until his eyes landed on Becky, who was now sitting on the floor with Drew wrapped around her from behind holding her up
Almost in a single leap Seth crossed the room and landed in front of the pair, startling them.
"Here we fucking go" Elias murmured
As soon as the pair locked eyes with the man crouched in front of them sonething…clicked.
"Son of a bitch" Drew swore. "You can only sense your mates for the first time when their in human form."
"Bingo" Elias says with a smirk, "Seth knew as soon as he was in his right mind"
Stephanie's eyes darted between her son and the newest members of their pack, "Goddess Above" she whispered "Xavier was right"
Everyone looked at the witch who was being held similarly to Becky by her own mate. "What?!" Mox says looking at his mother.
"Xavier had a vision about 3 months ago. He said we had to let the next two people who came to us for sanctuary into Haven, that they would be the key to getting Seth back. You two showed up about a week after that."
"We were told to come here to find our third" Drew muttered.
"Sorry we had to meet like this" Seth said. "With me all growly and shit"
Becky leaned forward and petted Seth's beard much like she had petted him in wolf form, Seth leaning into the touch "It's okay. You were kinda cute. Much cuter this way though"
"Anyone else notice that the redhead has a type?" Mox asks, pointing out the similarities in Drew and Seth's appearances
"All werewolves kinda look alike though" Violet argued.
"True but two mates looking like they could be related? Kinda a stretch" Mox replied
"I have to talk to Uncle Shawn" Seth said, turning to Stephanie "Mom. The twins aren't dead. Heyman has them under some kind of mind control spell. They both wear these amulets that they aren't allowed to take off for any reason. I managed to snatch Rhea's off of her when I was in wolf form and she recognized me, that's how I escaped from his compound. She blasted me out but The Beast caught up to us and Heyman put it back on her."'
Stephanie covered her mouth in shock. "Oh my god, Shawn always said he knew they were alive, but...we could never prove it" Seth hugged her tightly.
"What made Heyman target you?" Drew asked
"I'm not what I thought I was." Seth said quietly "Heyman's spell didn't work right on me...because I'm part warlock. Remember Mom? We always wondered why I was so good at seeing magic?" Seth waved his hand in the air creating a shower of silver sparks. "My birth mother was a Wolf and my birth father was a Warlock, they worked for Heyman but escaped when they found out they were gonna have me. That's why Heyman was here the day he killed Aunt Chyna and took the twins. He was looking for me"
"He will never have you again" Violet says. "You are our son, my baby." she caressed his cheek, Seth grabbing her hand.
Ember nudged Bálor, who scratched her head."You're gonna have to be careful Seth. Heyman won't just let you be free"
"That's why I'm here, he's going to try and get an pure Alpha. He think Omegas and Betas shake off his magic too easily and it isn't just Wolves that are vulnerable The Beast was a Dragon before Heyman fucked with him" Seth explained "When I was here the only Pure Alphas were Roman, Dad, Xavier, Charlotte and Renee"
He looked up at Drew "I'm gonna assume you are too?" He asked "Honestly, don't know for sure" Drew replied. "And I don't really care. Alphas have to protect everyone, I just have to protect Spitfire"
Seth nodded and continued "Whatever Heyman's magic did to me I have no fucking clue what I am anymore, I know it broke the seal my birth mother must have put on my magic, cause I can actually do shit now"
"I can help teach you" Becky quietly offered walking toward her new mate.
"Thank you" he says gently, with a slight bow. "I know I come with a fuckton of baggage, so I do understand if neither of you want to be mated to me"
Their impromptu meeting was interrupted when a golden blonde Wolf came barreling into the house and ran straight to Elias barking furiously
"Slow down, Renee what's wrong?!" The siren knelt down and placed a hand on her head. "I'm just gonna look okay honey?" he says gently as he closes his eyes only for them to snap open in horror a moment later.
"Elias?" Stephanie asks
"The Beast was here. Heyman took Roman."
