Wally Darling x Sleepy Reader

These are just some pretty basic head cannons for how I think Wally acts with a sleepy reader bc today I am a very sleepy person.

AN: I’ve taken so many naps today I just figured why not. Also I’m obsessed with this silly little yellow sentient puppet

Warnings: Slightly possessive Wally but that’s about it.

💤- Wally is a very cuddly person, he never wants to be without you, if your sleeping he’ll just lay there and hold you or if you had a hard day, he’ll most likely rub your back/shoulders. Like this boi can just tell from looking at you your holding in a lot of tension.

( that’s probably how you got sleepy in the first place, came home, took off your shoes, let out a slightly loud sigh, and he came rushing over and starts applying pressure to your upper back muscles and boom, your out like a light.)

💤- I imagine that while you sleep he likes to stare at you and all his thoughts are consumed by you and how peaceful you look sleeping. You shift even a little bit in your sleep and his hand immediately comes up to your face and starts to lightly pet where your hairline meets your forehead, just gentle loving little brushes of his hands to help you back to sleep.

💤- if you wake up randomly in the night and get super thirsty all of a sudden, before you can even roll over to see if you got a water before going to bed, Wally’s standing there holding a tall glass of ice water and his soft tired smile.

💤- if you run cold at night he’s got so many comforters for all kinds of seasons that he lets you use. He’ll even wrap you up and bundle you together in a blanket burrito before laying you down so you can sleep comfortably. He’ll hold you all tight and comfy so that you keep warm.

💤- if you run hot he’s got a little stool on your side of the bed that has a lighter form of pajama wear than what you already had on so that you can just slip them on and take your old ones off and go right back to being comfy. He’s also learned to be content with just laying to the side and watching you drift off to dreamland so that you don’t get to warm with him cuddling into you.

💤- if you run on both and your body goes either way, he’s prepared for everything, he mostly just lays next to you admiring you and occasionally saying some (possessive??) things out loud that he couldn’t admit to your face just yet. Mans is just there whenever you need something, too hot? He’ll throw the blankets off of you and grab some water with a LOT of ice. suddenly freezing cold? he has blankets folded up on the bottom edge of the bed so you can control what is on your body and what’s not. He’ll even hold your feet to warm them up faster. Anything to keep you asleep so that he can see you in that relaxed state.

💤- Get overstimulated when it comes to trying to fall asleep/be asleep in general? He has a white noise sort of machine with all kinds of sounds, or big fluffy earmuffs that drown out everything. He’s got your pajama drawer organized by texture so that if you suddenly become irritated you can change out of those quickly. Got to many thoughts running in your brain? He’ll let you ramble and go on and on till you get it all out/he’s got a pen and paper right by your bed for you to quick jot your thoughts down. And you better believe he’s got weighted blankets in all your favorite colors! The minute your out he remembers to take it off but will help compensate by half laying on you to help you stay asleep.

💤- if you have a really bad time falling asleep, he’s got a bin next to his record player labeled “y/n’s sleep remedy” and he’ll put on the gentle music and even hum or sing some of it so that you can rest your head on his chest, and focus on the vibrations coming off his chest to help you sleep.

💤- there’s not much that goes on around the neighborhood, no real rush to do things, and Wally knows your schedule and routine by heart (even if you can’t remember it 100% of the time HE does) so in order to make sure that your in top health he won’t even let you leave the bedroom until you’ve gotten the proper amount of sleep. (In your sleep he tells Home to not let you out of the room till you’ve gotten enough sleep) He helps you keep a consistent bedtime schedule so that you can fall asleep at the same time each night but if you wake up earlier than normal he’ll do everything he can to help you back to sleep. (He can’t have you going out at night, nobody goes out at night…)

💤-And on the opposite end of that, if your not wanting to wake up just yet, or your still really tried, he doesn’t mind the two of you staying in bed for a while longer. Just gives him more time to admire you. However if it starts going on 1 or 2pm he starts to get worried and urges you to start the (end?) of the day.

💤- overall he cares VERY much about your health in regards to sleep, and loves to help you stay calm and relaxed in such a quiet vulnerable time of day. He feels like it’s the only time you’ll let any walls you have down and just be open with him. (When your sleeping though it’s the only time he’s completely open with you, all the things he wishes he could tell you in the day time. All his secrets, his own hopes and dreams to be with you forever, and never EVER have to let anyone else in) after all, it’s just like his favorite song to sing while he holds you in your sleep.

Nimona Stim Headcanons

Nimona: She likes to chew on things in most forms. Wolf, mouse, human, shark, cat, you name it. The problem is her teeth are very sharp and she often breaks whatever's in her mouth. It's been a struggle to find something she can bite without breaking it or hurting herself but Ballister's confident he'll find something eventually. She also likes to shred things as a cat; there are different sensations between shredding paper and cloth but she likes both. Bal gave her a pack of tissue paper once and that entertained her for hours; she was smiling and giggling the whole time. Her shifting itself can be a stim and sometimes she'll rapidly change shape while listening to someone talk to help her focus. Unfortunately, it's usually pretty distracting to the person talking to her. She also likes to listen to music and tap along to the songs. She uses her fingers but also things like pencils and silverware to make different sounds.

Ballister: This man bounces his leg like there's no tomorrow. All- every- all the time. He doesn't even notice he's doing it until someone asks him to stop shaking the whole table. He chews on the back of his pencils/pens while he thinks too. Also doesn't know he's doing it until he looks down and it's covered in bite marks. When he's anxious about something, he'll repeat words and phrases to calm himself down. For example, before he went into knight training evaluations, he would whisper "helmet, sword, chest plate, boots" over and over and over to himself like his life depended on it. Ambrosius asked him if he was ok and he said he was fine, he just wanted to make sure he hadn't forgotten anything. For physical things like that, he'll also touch the object each time he lists it to make sure it's still there.

Ambrosius: He strikes me as a flappy hands kind of guy. When he's super excited or stressed he starts flapping his hands to regulate some of that emotion. He's only started doing it freely recently but he's always found subtle ways to express it. Like doing jazz hands/waving his hands around while talking excitedly or shaking his pencil during stressful meetings or tests. He also really likes soft textures/things. I can see him rubbing his hands over a nice fabric for as long as he can until someone pulls him away. Whenever they watch a movie on the couch, he likes to hug a pillow even tho Bal's right there. I can also see him really liking stuffed animals; he probably had a bunch when he was a kid, had to get rid of them bc he "was too old," but now has a bunch. They're soft and he can hug them and they're shaped like little friends. What's not to love? Bal is the big spoon, Ambs is the middle spoon, and then all of his stuffed animals are the little spoon lol

Dr. Blitzmeyer (bc yes she is a part of this family and I want to include her): This isn't technically a stim but her most important possession is her goggles. As long as she's wearing them there are no bad lights, no eye contact, and a constant reassuring pressure. They started out as a lab safety precaution, but she realized how much they helped and wears them 24/7 now. The only time she takes them off is for showers and bed. But on bad days when she's too anxious and the world is too much, she won't want to take them off and Ballister has to coax her out of them so they won't bruise her face. She also likes pulling on her purse strap while taking to people in public to give her hands smth to do. She likes to chew on things while she thinks too but has a few stim toys for that so she's not putting lab equipment in her mouth like Ballister. She also likes to bite people she feels comfortable with, like a quick soft bite on the shoulder, but you have to be level 3000 in friendship to unlock that so it's not a super common stim. So far she's only done it to Bal and he was pretty confused after, not upset, just confused.

Hi! Welcome. This post will function sort of as a FAQ and will be updated as such. You don't need to read it, but if you've had these questions, here are my answers:

"Do you take Commissions?"

Not yet! I do, however, have a Ko-fi, where I'll do some little thank-you doodles!

"Do you have a shop?"

No, not at the moment! I am considering it though...

"What materials do you use?"

By far the questions I get asked the most are about this, so this will get very long and I'm going to put it under a readmore. I will address the papers, inks, watercolors, dip pens, brushes, and other materials that I have used.

I also answer questions about my materials under the "my ninja tools and scrolls" tag, and give art technique advice under the "my jutsu" tag. Yes it's silly, but this is a Naruto art blog. this is what we all signed up for.

Mostly, this will be a list of my traditional materials. I will address the paper, pens, inks, and various types of watercolor that I use!

📄 PAPERS: 📄

—Strathmore 400 Series Heavyweight Drawing Pads 100lb/163gsm. (these numbers refer to the weight/thickness of the paper. thicker paper is less likely to buckle) ———> This paper is extremely cheap (a 9"/12" pad is often under 10 dollars), takes inks EXCELLENTLY, but it's a much lighter paper, and it will buckle under watercolor. For this paper, it's good to only paint small sections, to paint very slowly, or to paint with the paper taped down to another surface.

—Fabriano Hot Press (Hot Press means the paper is smooth, not rough) Watercolor Paper, 140lb/300 gsm ———> I use this paper the most because it's fairly cheap to buy in bulk, while still being good enough quality that my picky watercolor teacher approved it, Lol. I can usually find a 9"/12" block of it with 50 pages for about $20 if i look hard enough—and the paper is hardy enough that if I'm careful, I can paint on both front and back of the paper. Bad for archival purposes maybe, but great for having fun and not spending more money. [Example]

—Vision Cold Press (Meaning the paper is rough and textured) Watercolor Paper, 140lb/300 gsm ———> My watercolor teacher said this stuff was garbage, but...I don't really care! It is DIRT CHEAP and YES it buckles a little despite being thick, and YES it feels like cardboard in your hand, and YES it ONLY comes in coldpress, but the texture is grainy and even and nice... and like. when I say dirt cheap I mean dirt cheap. I used to get the 6"/9" 30 page pad for like 6 or 7 bucks. [Example]

—Arches Watercolor Pad/Block, Hot Press, 140lb/300 gsm ———> This is that expensive shit. I got a pad of it for a class back in college, and I dip into it now and again—I also bought a little bit more when there was a sale recently, a 12 page. It's 100% cotton, and it takes pigment based watercolor REALLY well, but it's not so good about dye based (I'll discuss the difference between those later) [Example]

🎨 WATERCOLORS: 🎨

DYE BASED:

Dye based watercolors, because they are based in dyes instead of pigments, are not lightfast. They are not archival. If you expose them to sunlight, they will begin to fade, and some will fade rapidly. That said, if you hoard your art in a dark place once you've documented, go hog wild! The fact that they're all liquid already makes them really easy to use.

—Ecoline Watercolor [Liquid] ———> These are a little watery, but they are cheap and easy, and I used them for the majority of my early watercolor art on this blog!

— Dr. Ph. Martin's Radiant Concentrated Watercolors [Liquid] ———> They are expensive, and sold in small quantities. They are, however very bright, like that label isn't lying! They're super concentrated! I have not actually run out of any of the ones that I bought (at a store closing sale bc otherwise they're too expensive lol) because they only use a small amount at a time

— Dr. Ph. Martin's Synchromatic Transparent Watercolors [Liquid] ———> They are also expensive, and also sold in small quantities. They aren't really made for paper either. They're fine. Probably not worth it though!

PIGMENT BASED:

—Black Sheep Art Supply's Pans And Half Pans! [solid watercolor] ———> These have been very enjoyable for me to work with!! They're very bright, affordably priced, and the paints are from a small business, as well as being handmade and from the first Black-owned art supply store. I've had wonderful experiences ordering from this store, and I wholeheartedly recommend them!

[EDIT: apparently the shop is on a break or something! oh well]

—Dr. Ph. Martin's Hydrus [liquid watercolor] ———> These are liquid watercolors, like the dyes, but they are archival and somewhat light-fast, which means they can be exposed to moderate amounts of sunlight without fading. I haven't gotten to use them much yet, but they seem fine. You do have to shake them a lot to mix the pigment in. They can also be a little difficult to rewet, and may appear somewhat flaky.

—Turner Professional Artists' Watercolors [tube/semi liquid] ———> These are watercolors stored in tubes, you know, the traditional way! I used these for class, back in college. They're cheap, but well pigmented as far as cheap watercolors go. If you're really on a tight budget, this is probably the best pick.

—Holbein Artist' Water Color [tube/semi liquid] ———> My best friend (the one who got me into naruto!) gave these to me! Usually they can be very expensive. They're very high quality, and gorgeous. I'm so enamored with them and touched by the gesture that I use them very rarely, I don't want to lose them! They're special to me!

✒️ INKS: 🖋️

I only use permanent inks which will not bleed (much) when water is applied, due to working in watercolor. This list will reflect that

—Dr. Ph. Martin's Bombay Black India Ink ———> I use this the most frequently. It's a little shiny, but not too bad, and it is completely waterproof once dried. Of the Ph. Martin inks, it's the cheapest by far, and a 1oz bottle (which lasts me months) can be found for about $5. —Dr. Ph. Martin's Black Star (Matte) Ink ———> Very waterproof, does not shine much at all. If you record your art with photography rather than scanning, this may be useful to you! Unfortunately, it's about $10 a bottle. —Dr. Ph. Martin's Black Star (Hi-Carb) Ink ———> Very waterproof, very shiny. I don't use this much because I don't like my ink to shine, but it can be very nice with the right application. Unfortunately, it's also about $10 a bottle.

—Yatsumoto Sumi Ink ———> you can get this stuff cheap. Like, you could get a 12oz bottle of it for like $12. That's very cheap. Unfortunately it's not completely waterproof, and if you agitate (rub the brush vigorously) over the ink, it may seep into the watercolors. If you're careful though, this won't be a huge problem. It's also good for ink-only work.

—Liquitex Acrylic Ink ———> This is also very waterproof, but it also takes longer to dry than the other inks, so I find myself smudging it a lot. It's also about $7 for a 1oz bottle, but about $20 for a 5oz bottle, so if you're committed to the ink, it can be cheap to buy in larger sizes.

—Diamine Registrar's Blue-Black Ink ———> Expensive. Really more of an interesting find than a practical ink for me. This is mostly waterproof, but a very thin ink, and you can feel the nib get scratchier when drawing with it. That's not a bad thing, it's just a textural thing. It's produced in a similar way to medieval inks, with iron and oak-galls, and because of this it has some interesting properties: When first applied to paper, it's a pale or sky blue, but it darkens rapidly as it dries, becoming almost black over time. It runs the rusk of corroding metal pen nibs due to its chemical makeup, and so nibs which use this must be washed extra thoroughly.

✍️ PEN NIB HOLDERS: ✍️

—Speedball Sketching Pen Set: ———> Easiest to get your hands on. Comes with two nib-holders and 6 different nibs to try out, available at most art stores, and usually around $10. It's also not bad quality—I don't use the tiny little nib-holder any more, but I use the standard black one all the time.

—Tachikawa Comic Pen Nib Holder, Model 40/ Model 36 ———> My Favorite. Thank god it has a little rubbery thing around it, because I grip pens hard 😭. It is able to hold standard-size AND small-size nibs. Occasionally, I find that some "standard-size" nibs might not fit, but I've never had this issue with the small size nibs.

Honestly, those are my favorites, but it's really hard to go wrong with pen nib holders. If they fit comfortably in your hand, and they hold a nib, they're good!

🖋 NIBS: ✒️

Nibs are difficult to acquire. They can be expensive too.

— Speedball ———> If you want to get a variety of nibs to experiment, this is my first recommendation. They have a wide variety of nibs to experiment, and find out what your favorites are.

—Tachikawa Pen Nibs ———> They've got less robust options than Speedball, and a little more expensive too, but they're very good nibs! The G-Nib is the standard nib used in comic making, and especially for lettering. It's a very stiff little nib, so it doesn't flex too much. This makes it pretty reliable, and especially good for lettering/writing.

—Manuscript Leonardt Pen Nibs ———> A lot of options for everything from caligraphy to cartography to sketching, also a little expensive—what is notable is that their pen nibs tend to be on the more flexible side, allowing the artist to get a lot of line weight variance. This is bad for lettering, but fun for drawing! They also have pens shaped like hands. Neat.

—Brause Pen Nibs ———> These were always super expensive where I was. I got a few. They come in this dorky plastic case with a sliding top, and I kinda wish they didn't bc that's a whole lotta plastic for something that coulda been stored in cardboard or paper, lol. I now use the cases to hold perfume samples. They're good pens, they're just expensive and the packaging is dumb.

—Whatever the hell is on Etsy. ———> People love to sell vintage things on etsy, and pen nibs are no exception. Often, you can find random samplers of pen nibs, or collections of pen nibs for sale. Sometimes you can find a whole box of one kind of pen nib, often times with a lot of nibs in it. I once bought one of these for like $45 and i don't even regret it because it's got a shitton of nibs and I realllly like using them. It will literally last me the rest of my life.

🖌 Brushes: 🖌

I don't have a lot to say about brushes! Ultimately, if it makes a mark on paper, and you like the mark it makes...I think that's a good brush.

I've been told you should go for ones which hold a shape, I think, and don't spread out in a big puff. Ones which use animal hairs are apparently best, but they are also very expensive. Generally, with watercolors, you will want to use "round" brushes, especially for beginners. If you want to experiment, I recommend Filberts, but there are also sword/dagger brushes if you're painting something like grass. Mostly I use:

—Creative Mark Mimik Kolinsky: ———> As the name implies, these are meant to mimic (synthetically) brushes made from Kolinsky fur. These are nice and I like them. They're cheap, but hold their shape well, and feel good in the hand. —Creative Mark Mimik High Performance Synthetic Squirrel Hair Watercolor Brushes: ———> What a name. I find these to be just as good for me as the Mimik Kolinsky, but a little bit cheaper. As long as ur careful not to treat them too roughly you'll be fine.

—Princeton Watercolor Brushes ———> Good. Expensive, but good. They have a variety of synthetic + natural materials, they are well made, if you have a little money to throw around + want a brush which will preform very well but will not destroy your bank, this is a solid brand. I've used ones from their Velvetouch, Mini-Detailer, and Heritage collections before, and enjoyed them all very much.

Additional Supplies:

—Porcelain Palette ———> I highly recommend using a porcelain palette instead of a plastic palette, both because I like to cut down on plastic when I can, and because the porcelain palettes are just....so much more convenient. The glass-like coating means that they will be easier to clean, whereas all of my plastic palettes over the years have gotten permanent stains. They're a little harder to accidentally knock around because they're heavier, which probably isn't a problem for most people, but I can be kinda clumsy. I can't tell u the number of times I've sent a full plastic circle-palette of watercolors flying lol

okay anon !! i will try my best to explain sorry if it's bad or nonsensical 🥲 also will include a cut bc long + pictures

SO this varies from drawing to drawing bc i have different styles n methods depending on my mood among other things... like for example the process between this and this or something like my latest comic is completely different.

usually i start by getting an idea (OBVIOUSLY!!!) sometimes i just start with something rly vague, sometimes i think about it for a while, and sometimes i even do thumbnails... i will use one such example for a more thorough look at the Process i think!

so, for these i actually doodled thumbnails on the note app on my phone... i used to do this on paper also but phone works surprisingly ok to just get a pose/vibe down. so it looked like that:

you can see... the vibes. using these as a base i'll draw rough sketches on the computer, like this:

which i can then refine them further into nicer, cleaner sketches (i usually do this for bigger illustrations like that, or comics):

then i line . note i usually color the lines after i've put flat colors so please ignore that lmao:

then i do flat colors, color the lines, and do shading/highlights etc. usually i use multiply and overlay respectively for this type of illustrations:

then i do the details (snow, dust, the titles...) and add a preliminary overlay that i'm probably going to play with in the next step (please pretend that i didn't forget to up the opacity for the background of the second illus earlier i'm too lazy to retake screenshots):

AND THEN i switch to my shitty old photoshop and do last minute edits, play with the colors/contrast, add textures, etc.

that's basically my process for illustrations like that. for simpler stuff i'll go with the flow a little more... like for example the afterimage art i did the shading with my own colors and lysandre actually isn't even fully drawn (altho there's probably more of him drawn than you'd expect LOL):

rtc headcannons because ive fallen deep into this musical

noel drinks from wine glasses and exclusively wine glasses

ocean has a fringe/bangs but doesnt know how to grow them out so she just pins them up with headbands

ricky has so many badges its a problem at this point. just buckets upon buckets of badges.

i am making them all autistic bcs im autistic and i need more autistic characters damnit

ocean has a special interest in politics and literary analysis

noel has a special interest in france, poetry media analysis

sometimes they discuss different films and books together and yes they get very heated over their wildly differing interpretations

ricky (obviously) has a special interest in space and cats, but also video games.

constance has a special interest in autism itself, flower language and art history

penny (be aware i have not seen legoland yet so take this with a pinch of salt) has a special interest in animals and mythology

mischa has a special interest in horror and rap, as well as linguistics

noel speaks pretty good french. he uses duolingo but he hates the notifications because they annoy him at the most random times

ricky uses all pronouns, no preference. and by all, i mean ALL. you could bring out the boink/boinkself pronouns and shed be chill with it

constance really likes hot chocolate with cinnamon and two shots of caramel in it

penny has mild heterochromia. one eye is green and the other is a darker green with a brown rim

ricky has an aac, but they all know at least basic sign language. theyre still learning

ocean stims by bouncing on her tiptoes. one time she fell over in the middle of a big speech because she tipped forward. she was fine but very embarrassed. noel was no help

noel's mother is from a french-speaking provenance/precinct (i think thats what theyre called)

mischa owns two hats, but flips them inside out so it looks like he owns more

noel has tried white wine. he doesnt want to admit it but he absolutely despises it

penny has textural issues with anything slimy. she tried a facemask once and almost broke the wall from slamming so far backwards into it.

mischa has talia's number memorised, but still keeps a litle slip of paper in his phone case with her number on it

ocean colour codes EVERYTHING. if even a single colour is out of place on anything she will spend ages trying to fix it

everything noel owns is very low contrast, and most of it is some variation of dark, desaturated reds and blues or monochrome

ricky owns a pair of purple cat ears

ocean isn't one for sweet things but adores chocolate oranges.

most of the time they all eat lunch together in the choir room

penny is a vegetarian bcs she doesnt like the texture of meat, ricky is a vegetarian because hes allergic to red meat

when ocean found out noel works at taco bell she spent a week going up to him at work just because. she still goes occasionally. noel dies inside a little bit more each time

noel actually managed to convince some other kid to day the second line in the nativity play. hes still proud of that one

mischa really likes rasberries

ricky loves to sleep in hammocks, but its a pain getting in and out of them so they dont do it often

noel's mother owns a lot of old french dvds which is how noel got into them

constance is very good at playing instruments, like harmonicas and flutes.

noel used to buy those fake sweet cigarettes all the time and pretend he actually smoked. he didnt like the flavour though. too chalky

mischa really likes palma violets.

penny doesn't watch movies often, but when she does she asks a lot of questions

noel really likes dramas, but he doesn't say so that often

for a bonding activity they all made bracelets for eachother, but none of them knew how. they picked who theyd make the bracelet for out of a hat. ocean researched before hand and made a nice flower chain for penny. penny made a green singlet with star beads for ricky. ricky made a red bracelet with "bad egg yt" on it for mischa. mischa made a purple and white bracelet for constance. constance made a black and red bracelet with a rose charm on it for noel. noel made an orange and blue bracelet with a shell charm and the word "lake" on it for ocean

penny wears hers and constantly fiddles with it. ocean keeps hers despite being annoyed by the word. mischa wears his often, but its slightly small so hes very careful to make sure it doesnt snap. noel keeps his on his bedside. ricky wrapped his around one of his crutches. constance wears hers often as well, and keeps it in a small box specifically for the bracelet.

noel stims by rubbing his fingers and fixing his collar

ricky has made an entire map of the solar system zolar is on. zey made it on a giant piece of a1 paper and hung it by his bed

this led noel to learning some ukranian and talia learning some english to avoid the hells of google translate

mischa canmot finish books for the life of him. he begins reading, gets bored and remembers twelve weeks later he even knew of the book

there is a singular shitty library in uranium in st. cassians. its old and decrepit but the librarian is nice.

ocean volunteers after hours in the library on thursdays and fridays

ricky and penny watch animal documentaries together. they also spend a lot of timw with rickys cats. penny loves them

noel has tried that french whipped cream hot chocolate and loves it

ricky doesbt like throwing away her clothes so they sew the holes up with penny and ass little patches on them.

constance and penny read together and penny likes to help constance in the cafe with things like sweeping and clearing tables

mischa and ricky are bros. they watch sci fi together, and tend to watch a lot of scifi horror

noel and ocean hate eachother in the "you are genuinely so insufferable. i never want to talk to you, no, i dont even want to see you again. of course we're still on for saturday i'll meet you at ten, see you there" kind of way

penny dyed her hair blonde and noel dyes his hair black. his natural hair is a pretty dark brown but he likes his dark dark.

the choir hang out every saturday. they do things like hang at the cafe or go to the mall.

in an everyone survives au, none of them like cars that much after the rollercoaster

post canon penny hosts memorials and told talia about what happened. she was devastated, but penny felt she needed to know. she also managed to stop taco bell from making the hungry hombre meal

noel cannot stand fast food after working at taco bell because hes seen how its made.

noel is friends with a coworker, a woman in her late thirties who knew his mother briefly in highschool.

ocean cannot handle spice at all. she can barely hold her own against the lowest spice rating on a nandos menue

ricky talks to noel about zolar and all xeir ideas for it. noel is fascinated by just how detailed and extravagent it all it, so he ignores the sexy cat people

ricky convinced the rest of the choir to watch cats. there is now a mandatory background check before each movie on movie nights

ocean wears a lot of yellow and blue

because of oceans oarents, she has very limited internet access, so she normally uses a laptop her parents dont know about, courtesy of constance, at the cafe

constance writes fics on ao3. not often, but she does. shes pretty good at it ngl

noel's mother actually gave him the monique wig

Okay then explain why my best pieces of art happen when I'm not thinking, but when I'm feeling. I'm not trying to draw at all, I channel all my feelings on to paper. It has nothing do with practice, the more I practice, the more my pieces flop. I guess from a surrealism lovers point of view, I don't see how you can be a true artist of any media form if you can only copy what you see instead of transmute and channel it. Im just generally curious bc i really dont try at all when it comes to my nice pieces. People tell me all the time I should go to the beach and "copy" the scene. I guess I want to transform it, like the stone in to man. Tbh, I think even most "bad" art is good for its lack of perfection. So be a bad artist!! Be you!

now that you elaborate on it, i suppose it's a difference of style and art medium. and i very much do agree about the beach scene part, i draw almost purely from imagination (except if specifically and intentionally doing a photo study for practice).

by difference of style i mean, if you're doing abstract/surrealist/etc type art that's supposed to convey an emotion or feeling, i suppose actual technique doesn't matter quite as much. and maybe how you're feeling in the moment, does.

i personally am a very technical (pixel) artist, and sort of pride myself in perfecting a texture or a particularly clever cluster placement. my entire art form is essentially more of a puzzle than a way of expressing a feeling, and i have no problem trying and retrying things over and over until they look exactly how i want (to the best of my ability, of course)

also agree heavily on that last message, art is art, do whatever you want! that's the point!

alright, lou's (fountain) pen collection:

under a cut, so I don't annoy everyone on my dash. still gonna tag @aimofdestiny since you requested I yell a little more about them, so yell I shall

let's start at the very beginning:

top left was my very first fountain pen. the one I learned writing with in elementary school, and it has a little slidey plastic thing that you could put little pictures or bits of colourful paper behind so you could look at something cute. I definitely used that a lot.

top right was my next beloved fountain pen bc the old one was starting to be fragile and sometimes it would leak a little (though I haven't used it enough since to tell if it's still the case. just don't have the heart to throw away things that are still functional if a little messy. I don't mind messy when I art at home, so most of these are perfectly fine still.

on the right are all the ones I mostly used for writing in school and later uni (the one that looks a bit like a whale - the one I found in school - was already pretty broken when I found it. but I never minded ink getting on my hands so I kept it anyway. it writes really well, and super smoothly, so it more than makes up for the mess)

next up, all the LAMY pens:

LAMY is my next big thing, I think mostly because they have exchangeable nibs of varying sizes and uses and they also have converters available, meaning you don't have to rely on standard ink cartridges and can get more creative with ink colours (or even mix some yourself if you read up a little on what works and what doesn't work)

plus, as you can tell they come in a variety of different colours. the ones on the left are more shiny and smooth, the ones bottom left are metallic and therefore heavier and cool in your hand at first, but sometimes I like that. the ones top right are matte and have a less smooth texture which I prefer for the most part, and of course the Vista is just transparent which can be fun if you like fun inks.

I think my next thing, as I was first getting into transparent pens was just looking for whatever was cheap and looked nice and had nice reviews, which led me here:

The WingSung 3008, which they sold in sets of four for barely anything at all. They don't use ink cartridges which I like, but instead you have the piston filler mechanism (I think it's called) where you twist the end one way to empty it and the other way for filling.

They worked pretty well for a bit, some of the nibs wrote smoother than the others, but they were exchangeable with each other so it worked out okay, but some leak into the cap causing rust.. so not perfect, but for the money I paid for them - more than worth it.

I think after that I got into more transparent pens and watched a ton of pen review videos and kinda fell down the rabbit hole, but landed here:

In part with the TWSBI bc the cap has such nice angles and I liked the looks of it, and it writes SUPER well, so nice. Plus it fits a LOT of ink. My favourite writing fountain pen atm.

And the Moonman I originally bought because I saw someone had converted it into using Zebra G Nibs and I thought I might try that as well, but I ended up liking it too much as is to wreck it in the process of converting it. The overall shortest pen, so I tend to post it when I write, but for drawing I tend to leave the cap off. Also fits a TON of ink, and I have a shimmery ink in that one at the moment and I haven't had any issues with it clogging up the feed.

A little more messy during the filling up process but not bad. Very much like it. I bet it would make for a great pocket fountain pen.

Next up.. a mixed bag of mostly pens I use for drawing:

The Noodler's Ahab takes a lot of fiddling with the nib to get the flow right, which is why I rarely take them outside of the flat.. sometimes they end up leaking instead which would suck on the go. Plus your fingers get ink all over them if you adjust it without gloves (which.. I hate gloves so I never use them). And they smell a little strange at first, but now I've gotten used to them so it's a little comforting. But they have a flex nib which works really well once you manage to get the flow right, so definitely great if you like drawing or calligraphy I guess.

The Jinhao x750 takes a little less fiddling I think, or at least it never felt as annoying as with the Ahab. Writes/draws smoothly but uses up a bit more ink than most of my other pens so it's better for titles or drawing than writing small text. But if you don't write super small and super quickly it should still work well. I really like this one a lot (and no it's not just because of the glitter) it has some heft to it but in a good way in my opinion. It feels like it writes, a little on the heavier side of things.

And the IndiGraph is from a kickstarter project and supposedly the cap holding water prevents the nib from drying out which means you can use other inks with it, like Indian/Chinese inks that usually dry to be waterproof. I think the kickstarter models all came with a few issues and mine is no different, meaning I can't speak for the quality of the product they sell now, but for a while it worked for me and it was pretty cool.

And for the last ones, my relatively new obsession with Kaweco pens:

The one up top is a Brass rollerball pen, which I got with my kickstarter rewards from Gametee's Wallet of Holding campaign, and I was a little disappointed that it's a rollerball and not a fountain pen, but then I saw that they also make regular fountain pens, so I bought the black one next, which is an extra-fine, which usually works best for my writing.. at least if I have the time to write slowly. (I have a lot of black pens tbh, idk why.)

And then some time last year I bought the other three which all came with medium nibs which works a lot better for drawing since it goes more smoothly and the angles aren't as important.

But all in all I really like the Kaweco Sport. smol, like me, which means I can put four of them into my lil pencil case and have four different colours of ink if I want to (bc Kaweco also makes converters for their pens) and just.. pocket-sized fun.

I think that's all of it, tho I have a glass pen and a few nib pens, too. And a whole bunch of different inks.

The vast majority of the games I play most have some sort of combat and I would rather eat a tree than play them on the switch 😭 friends tried to convince me to play apex legends on the switch once and I refused bc I started gaming with fortnite on the switch way back in season 4 and I will never be doing anything like that again thank u very much (I did not grow up playing Mario kart but I am pretty good at it so I’ll believe it when I see it 😤)

Yea the niners did have a pretty bad run for a minute there but last season was real good for them and all the power rankings I’ve seen for this season have them somewhere in the top 10 so I’m feeling good about them so far!! It’s not even technically hometown pride for me bc I grew up in one of Those places that’s like technically a city but you might as well be out in the country bc you go two streets over and ur in an orchard but my dad is from SF and I have tons of family in the Bay Area so naturally I have to rep the Bay Area sports teams

I used to collect baseball cards as a kid and I remember having a few for the Padres but that’s as much as I know about them 😬

i def looked very neon when i looked it up but it said it had blue in it and blue is the second best flavor in the world so !!! lmaooo you get used to it, i add a lot of modifiers to my drink bc i like my beverages a little fancy but sometimes i just get an iced vanilla cold brew and call it a day. i SURVIVE off of coffee, i really like other things as well though, im honestly just a big beverage fan i love to be sipping on something! i def recommend the iced chai if you're not into coffee! it's a tea but has a similar texture to coffee and ends up being pretty sweet the way i order it! 10/10 i recommend it to everyone.

Assorted Monty HCs 3

(Running under the assumption of Organic Monty unless specified otherwise)

- Sometimes will just. Read random things for the sake of processing information. He’s not super big into reading otherwise but sometimes he’ll be bored and see some fine print or something on a poster or slip of paper and decide to snoop just to give himself something to do

- That being said, this gator has vast hordes of random knowledge that may be of use to you... if you can get it out of him/he remembers said information at the given time you ask

- If you’re hired on to be Monty’s handler/personal assistant, you gotta be cool with a lot of things really fast. Namely a surprisingly energetic and VERY charismatic reptile who can and will get into mischief, regardless of if he is under supervision. He can and will try to rope you into his shenanigans too

- He will also insert himself into any job you’re doing and help, even if you didn’t ask him to. ESPECIALLY if you’re working up in the catwalks bc he cannot stand the idea of not keeping an eye on people up there to make sure they’re staying safe since the last incident. Had he not been in Gator Golf at the time that last employee fell...

- he is very protective of his fellow employees, human and bot alike

- also just. No thoughts, head empty somedays. He sees something that sparks even slight interest and oop! There he goes, off to go investigate - usually with you in tow bc as his assistant it’s your job to keep an eye on him so nothing bad happens (this isn’t just a Monty thing either - all of the animatronics have assistants for this exact purpose)

- He can be a handful but not for the reasons management provides (which usually focuses on his more destructive tendencies and nothing else). He’s just a very energetic person who needs a lot of things to keep him entertained. As long as you can understand that, you will get along with him swimmingly as his assistant

- deadass if you treat him nice or really just don’t treat him or his friends like a piece of property like so many of the other human employees tend to do to the bots in the Plex, you have become his Bestest Friend in the Whole Wide World and he will straight up ride or die for you

- If he had any use for money he could probably convince you to give it to him tho. This guy would be a god at scamming

- I mean he can usually convince you to give him pieces of your food or drink so I would imagine he could just be like “hey can I have that pen” or “hey you should give me that clipboard” and you just give it to him. he just has it now. he doesn’t need it at all, he has no reason to have a pen or a clipboard, but he has it

- Generally speaking he tries not to get too much in the way of your work, but some days he wants the extra attention and other days he’s just feeling particularly chaotic (and some days, while he won’t admit this aloud, he gets very clingy and doesn’t want you to leave)

- Since he’s a new addition to the Fazbear cast (and the band itself for that matter) he doesn’t actually know that much about the history of the Fazbear company beyond what he had programmed into him for the sake of some fun Faz-Facts. So if there were an AU where Monty is the guardian this man straight up does not know what’s going on. at all. He’s just chillin (same with Roxy for that matter)

- Anything else that he does know, he finds out through Freddy, Chica, and Bonnie when he was still there

- His mowhawk has a similar texture to that of an iguana’s. Surprisingly soft, would be very floppy if he didn’t use some kind of product to keep it up. He thinks he looks silly with it down so he tries to avoid not having it up in public (spoilers: he doesn’t look silly at all)

- Give him hand massages bc his claws get achey sometimes

- His tail is VERY solid/heavy. A good smack from it will definitely leave a bruise at least, so he tries to be as careful as possible, so he doesn’t accidentally hit anyone with it

- Gators don’t typically use their tails to emote afaik (at least not the same way that other reptiles do) but I do like the idea of the tip of his tail still wiggling around when he sees something he likes, or he gets excited.

- The only time his whole tail is thrashing/getting smacked around is when he’s REALLY upset about something - like about to throw down or start breaking shit kinda upset

- he would absolutely use it in a fight if need be - it’s got enough weight to it n he can put enough force behind it so that he could easily knock someone over. And should he use enough force, he could probably break someone’s leg.

- It’s pretty hard to lift it off of the ground straight up (he’d probably end up pulling a muscle in his back somehow) so he usually just lets it drag along on the ground behind him like gators normally do. If he needs it off the ground for some reason he would probably need someone to help him, or he might be able to grab it with his own hands, but since his tail isn’t very flexible that might end up hurting him

- Speaking of a not-particularly-flexible-tail, if you’re someone he’s really fond of there’s a good chance you’ll start to notice his tail loosely curled around where you’re standing

- if he’s feeling really sneaky, he likes to come up behind you and blow a breath of air on the top of your head to get your attention. You’d be surprised how often he’s able to do this without you noticing

- Also has a tendency to sit his chin on the top of your head or shoulder so he can get a better look at what you’re doing (though if this makes you uncomfortable, he backs off)

- He has his big boisterous laugh ofc, but he also has what I affectionately refer to as the Windex Cleaner laugh. He also tends to stick out his tongue when he laughs like that too which is great

- If he has access to a phone he will send you so many god damn memes. This dude is scrolling through TikTok like no tomorrow and sending you the funniest and most cryptic shit at 3am, when the both of you should DEFINITELY be sleeping/charging

- Something something the Glamrocks do have access to some kind of cell-phone like device or program so they can contact their assistants in case something happens (unless a certain asshole rabbit lady decides to cut off access to any form of internet), though they all end up using it for more casual things with their assistants should they be on good terms

- Monty also will send you very cursed pictures of himself with the camera right up against his snout so he looks like he has a really big nose

- and the MEME SPEAK THIS MAN USES. absolutely off the shits

- He’s just got a mental meme soundboard in his head that he plays whenever something happens and it’s really the only thing keeping him from going nuts during busy days at work

Like she,, sketches designs out constantly, and she got really good at proportions and anatomy while working out AB’s design, etc!! Even when she was younger, Rand and Tamiko would just,, shove her some pencils and paper to keep her outta the way. It was never a conscious hobby but,, its the closest she’s got tbh!!

SO YEA SHE DRAWS!! not like,, actively, but sometimes when she just needs to Not Think for a little while?? she just starts absentmindedly scribbling out designs in her notebook!!

everythings really geometric!! even when hes working with,, organic shapes like flowers and faces, its all very tight thin lines, few curves if any. Its this really beautiful, distinct style!!

She loves the texture of pastels too,, and chalk,, i could totally see her having a big chalkboard in her lab that she draws on when shes trying to think through a problem.

BEFORE his surgery, he wouldn't wear gloves or wraps but,,, because he now has talons to deal with, he needs that buffer to make sure he doesn't gouge his own hand (although,, smdns on more than one occasion he has forgotten. Quite a few scars on his palm)

If he's had a particularly bad day, you'll most likely find him in one of the lower-level training rooms, absolutely massacring a punching bag!

Little addition at the end?? He hunts, and his shot would give some of Cognito's snipers a run for their money.

This is ALL I will post about my snacks (no meals bc it looked stupid and came out bad)

TW RANT WITH NO DROP DOWN////

I WILL NOT share how much of this stuff I had bc I’m extremely disgusted in myself

And please I don’t understand why I have self control at home and can starve myself easy peasy but then when I’m with my boyfriend I feel ok to eat (but still have intense guilt)

I literally felt so shitty about myself I wanted to cry but tears wouldn’t come out

This was the first time I ever felt “out of control” I ate 200 over my maintenance but pretty much doubled my personal limit

Honestly I’m so upset with myself that I ate to the point of making myself sick

It wasn’t even a binge bc it was a perfectly normal amount of food

But some days I try to listen to the doctors when they tell me to eat past fullness bc that’s the only way to stop my stomach from shrinking (but maybe that’s what I want, for it to shrink) and it makes me feel like shit

Ed only ever shuts the f up when I’m under my limit or lose weight and I hate it, why can’t he shut the f up, it’s not like I’m going to remember “on March 27th I weighed 1 pound more than the day before” BUT MY BRAIN STILL THINKS I WILL REMEMBER IT AND CAUSES ME TO HAVE A TRAUMA RESPONSE OF FEELING DEPRESSED AND STARING AT MY BLOATED FAT LOOKING STOMACH AND REALIZING ITS GOING TO SPREAD OUT TO MY ENTIRE BODY

Ughhhh fml I hate this shit

Also my boyfriends mom said “oh you have extremely thin hair for texture” and I was like “uhhh no I do not I just have bald spots bc my hair falls out in clumps haha”

And she kept going on saying how it wasn’t good and asked why

And I looked at my boyfriend and I was like “uhhh vitamin deficiencies, I take lots of vitamins but it’s not enough for my hair haha” and she kept telling me to take biotin and first off all maybe it would do a little bit but at the rate my hair falls out there’s no chance biotin will make a huge change

And then I texted my boyfriend and I was like “haha maybe bc I’m an-“ (he didn’t like that joke)

But ya that was basically my day, my boyfriend got a very nice hair cut :) his parents were being asses and certain times, we went snack shopping

OH AND I WANTED TO TRY AND CHALLENGE A DONUT AGAIN AND THEY WERE ALL CINNAMON SUGAR WHICH I HATE so I was like ok maybe I’ll try a muffin, what kind do you have

He said raspberry and blueberry so I went to check the blueberry and they WERE ALL WET

So I decided maybe if I microwave it the moisture will go away and harden up

NOPE IT GOT EVEN MORE WET AND I KEPT GAGGING AND TRIED USING A PAPER TOWEL TO DRY IT OFF AND IT WAS STILL MUSHY, I was gagging so much and I told my boyfriend to eat it and he threw it out

He ate so much less than me today and it pisses me off and makes me feel like a failure and disgusting I told him I wish he would support me more and he just doesn’t understand how, and idk how either but I just wish he magically knew what to do yk? It’s weird

I was wondering: do all the mushrooms you eat taste the same? Or are some more "spongy" than others? Are some spicey? How do you know that the mushrooms you eat are 100% THAT mushroom and not a closely-the-same-but-toxic-or-worse mushroom? Im sorry if that was an overwhelming question, haha! You dont have to answer if you dont want to, but you HAVE to know that I LOVE your blog! 💙

My very first ask! 😱😍 Thank you so much for brightening my little night! It's not a problem at all, and not-at-all overwhelming!

This answer might be though....

1. The mushrooms do not all taste the same! Some taste meatier--more savory (like chicken of the woods, or maitake--or what I call tree-chicken and tree-bacon respectively); some taste almost more like crab (Hericium)--this one can be a bit spongy; some taste a little peppery (black trumpet); some taste very earthy and a little smoky (old man of the woods)--but I might have just burnt that last one 😂. Sorry, Old Man: it will probably happen again.

2. Some mushrooms are great to forage because there aren't any mushrooms that look like that mushroom and are toxic. Like shaggy mane, giant puffball, or black trumpets (below).

I mean, you might confuse this with a blue chanterelle or pig's ear, I guess, in which case you have erred deliciously (Oh man I really want an apron with a picture of a black goat that says err deliciously on it now 😂--sorry, distractable)

Clyde Christensen talks about the "fool proof four," meaning fairly common mushrooms that are pretty safe for beginning foragers because it's really difficult to confuse them with something toxic (his are giant puffball, morels, chicken of the woods (below), and shaggy mane I think?).

Then, you have mushroms that might be confused with something toxic, just because something exists in your region which looks something like it and is toxic. Like, enoki mushrooms (something I'm on the look out for now) look like deadly galerina--a mushroom with the same amatoxin as the destroying angel which (if the name didn't give it away) can kill you.

But, even though they look very similar, there are reliable differences--like their spore print. If you remove the cap of an enoki, and leave it on a piece of paper, foil, or glass for a few hours, it will drop a white spore print. Deadly galerina drop a sort of rusty brown.

Some mushrooms are very rude and can't be distinguished from their toxic look-alikes with a spore print. Lots of white gilled mushrooms drop a white spore print, including some that you can eat and some that you can eat but only once.

But there's always something that distinguishes them, whether it's the shape of the base, the way the gills are attached to the stem (or not), the color, their environment, the texture, the color it turns when you cut into into it--and the more of these distinguishing features you know, the more confident you'll be that you have the right mushroom.

But, first time I forage something I cook up a small piece and eat it, wait 12 hours or so, meditate on the transience of life and my own mortality (kidding...mostly), and get really paranoid about any of my bodily sensations for a while 😂....Also bc you never know when you're going to have a sensitivity to something, even when it is the correct mushroom. I mean, kiwi is edible but I don't have a good time when I eat it. Though with those shaggy manes I found today I did not do that bc if I'd waited that long they'd be goo. I have yet to experience any ill effect from a mushroom, but if I do I will be in for a slightly less bad time than if I'd eaten a whole bunch of it at once.

But you get to know mushrooms, and trust yourself and your own ID and the waiting thing doesn't feel necessary any more. There are so many mushrooms and it can be pretty overwhelming. When I first started learning to formally identify mushrooms, I was so sure I would never eat something I'd foraged myself. I just didn't have confidence in myself...but I unintentionally cultivated that confidence when I was just having fun looking at and reading about mushrooms.

It's not at all an exaggeration to say that this hobby has been wonderful for my mental health, especially my anxiety....and I mean like, often-can't-leave-the-house and won't-answer-the-phone anxiety.

Learning mushrooms is a bit like moving to a new city or even country, if you're very new. There's all these streets and stores and people you don't know. But you start exploring bit by bit, maybe doing some research beforehand. Or you see something interesting, go "What that??" and research it after. And each time you learn one little area, you develop an eye (and nose) for what's most relevant and the vocabulary you need, and learning becomes easier and easier.

This metaphor got away from me. You don't do it all at once is my point. 😂

I take mushrooms one at a time, learn everything I can about that species, and then they start to feel familiar and almost sort of friendly. And I pass them on a hike and wave and say, "Hey Strobilomyces strobilaceus, how you doing, how's the spores?"

And then they don't say anything because they're a fungus. And then sometimes I take them home and eat them because they're also an edible fungus 💙
