Now that I've finally finished my first playthrough (actually weeks ago, just now getting to this lol), it's my time to bother everyone once again with more info on all my characters. So this is part 1 of 8... and yes. That means I have 8 playthroughs right now, only 1 of which I've finished...oopsies...I'm working on it.
So firstly, we have my darling Gith A'arin! Special special first bb girl. See below for more of her story. Beware for spoilers.
Origin/Family
Like all typical Githyanki children, A’arin was born, or rather...hatched, from an egg in the hatchery of Creche Y’llek in the year 1467 DR. For the first few years of her life, she was raised along with the other Gith children. While A'arin never quite fit in with the others, she was sneaky and did what she had to, to stay alive amongst the sharks.
It was not an enjoyable first few years if you were to ask her, which is exactly why she snuck away from the creche at just 7 years old. So young as she was, she made her way as far from the Creche as she could. No easy task for a tiny Gith with no provisions, supplies, or weapons, aside from the clothes on her back and a tiny dagger at her belt.
She wound up lost in a storm and was found by a young woman who had convinced her to shelter at her home, where there was a warm fire, a soft bed, and good food. How could A'arin say no? She may be a Gith, but she was still a child. So she spent the night being looked after by the young woman, Marianne. And one night turned to two, turned to one year, which then turned to six years.
The woman took care of A'arin. And the young Gith, who had never encountered such kindness, couldn't get herself to leave Marianne. So for six years, A'arin lived a happy and fulfilling life as the adopted daughter of a young widow. Though she never forgot who she was. Or where she came from.
Fighter/Battle Master
One day, in her teen years, A'arin had been gathering herbs by the river, when she was caught by a scouting party from creche Y'llek. She thought they would kill on the spot, she had deserted them after all. But they did not. At least not yet.
So as they dragged her back to the creche, she spun them a story so detailed and insane, that not even the captain could question the accuracy of her killing innocent groups of travelers (a lie of course) or the detailed information she could give about certain plants and herbs of the area (the truth). But she never told them about Marianne. Never about her.
By nothing short of a miracle, she was allowed to reintegrate with the rest of the youth in the creche and was thrown immediately back into training and ruthless lectures about fighting and death. And though she had been spoiled with kindness and love for six years, she managed to pull herself together and keep up with the rest. So she was stuck there for the next many years and was not allowed to leave. Until the day she was taken by the nautiloid ship and her whole life went to hell all over again.
Relationships/Endgame
If you were to describe what A'arin looked like the first time she met Kith'rak Voss, you would probably say she looked star-struck, or that she looked like she had butterflies flitting around her chest. She will absolutely punch Gale in the face if he ever mentions her dreamy look again. And Halsin. Even if the large elf is annoyingly kind and decent.
A'arin fell even more in...love?... with Voss when she learned he did not like Vlaakith and wanted to take her down. She sure loves a man who knows what he wants in life. He may be infinitely older than her, but who can blame her for her little puppy crush?
Did she drunkenly confess her feelings at Sharess's Caress that one time? Maybe. Did Voss gently let her down immediately after? Absolutely. But did he tell her he would love to fly together through the Astral Plane on his red dragon once the Elder Brain and Vlaakith are taken care of? He sure did. She absolutely wasn't screaming on the inside. Certainly not. She's more mature than that.
Now that the elder brain has been defeated, and the entirety of Faerun isn't in imminent danger, A'arin has found herself with more time than she knows what to do with on her hands. And with no fear of certain death for now. To her shock, Voss and Oprheus requested she and Lae'zel join them in their mission to bring Vlaakith down. But A'arin has decided that she can not go with them just yet. There is one more quest she must finish.
To find Marianne. Since returning to the creche at 13, she knew nothing more about the woman. Whether she was alive or dead, and if she still lived at the little stone house by the river. She prays to any god she can think of that the woman is still there. For she misses her greatly. A'arin wants nothing more right now than to settle in front of the warm hearth she remembers and to sip upon a warm cup of apple cider while Marianne tells her stories.
And perhaps after a while, after making sure Marianne is well without her, she will join her fellow Gith in the Astral skies. And finally, perhaps Voss will follow through on his promise to fly her through the Astral Plane upon Qudenos.
-----------------------------
Well that was way more info than I planned. If you made it this far, kudos to you! Especially cause this is all about my oc that has no real importance outside of my playthrough in BG3. <3 Thanks for reading! I hope you love A'arin as much as I do!
