#pillars of eternity meta #that's it that's the post #this is actually canon? like legitly #don't ask how we got here I don't know how we got here #that's a lie I know how we got here I just don't understand why #anyways #so one of the stronghold upgrades is the botanical garden #except the period meaning of the term was 'greenhouse but with more trees' #they were very fancy and expensive and you grew all sorts of things in them #like citrus and cinnamon #the term changed meanings ~18th c when they started building shit like the poison garden #so a greenhouse was a greenhouse and an orangery was a greenhouse specifically for citrus hence the name #obviously there is more to this but I'm not getting into it it's late and I have bones go ouch syndrome #but the moral of the story is there is probably a giant heist epic about stealing baby cinnamon trees from rautai #and that's why cinnamon is a super common ingredient #(unrelated it turns out cinnamon is like... stupid easy to grow? so maybe I will plant a tree and grow even more of my own spices)
