I’m gonna be honest, even with the new info we got about Fred today through his letters with Tubbo, I’m still incredibly sus of him XD call me a hater if u want but lemme explain why lol

Fred is a high ranking worker in a totalitarian government. Most of the workers we’ve met have a “I just work here” mentality but Fred is different. Fred takes initiative and isn’t afraid to walk into the tiger’s den (bbh’s house) to do its job. You don’t become a high ranked worker by having a “I just work here” mentality. You need to want it.

Fred’s letter to Tubbo today made it even more sympathetic by claiming it felt guilty for stalking bbh but I seriously doubt that when Fred seems perfectly fine writing reports about how the federation tortured Aypierre to the point of death.

Today we gained two very important and opposing pieces of information about Fred - and this has been a pattern since we met the character. We (the audience) gain conflicting information from different sources about Fred and have to make up our own minds on what is real.

Fred presents itself very sympathetically to Tubbo - and I do believe it genuinely cares for him - but every other piece of information we’ve gained about Fred from an outside source tells us a different story. In some books found previously, it was revealed that A rank workers were encouraged to approach their employees with compassion and warmth to keep them working (paraphrased) so we know Fred was instructed to act the exact way he is by a higher up. When interrogating bbh, Fred revealed that it is very intelligent and can be manipulative/chooses words very carefully. And today we learned that Fred is deep enough in federation’s inner workings to be writing reports on the federation’s torture on prisoners.

So what is real? Fred or WA02?

My current thoughts are that Fred is loyal to the federation and is using Tubbo but that it also genuinely cares for him. Fred caring about Tubbo and using him are not mutually exclusive. Plus that would be the most interesting thing story wise lol. Eventually, Fred will have to choose between its penpal and the federation - or, Tubbo will have to choose between Fred and the islanders. And that would be some interesting and fun drama XD
