(this is about my opinion that Elliot the billionaire from Breaking Bad S1E5 "Grey Matter" was not a generous, kindly rich friend offering Walt a way out with no strings attached)

First, let me say this: I know most people don't notice or care about fashion but BrBa actually did put notable effort in their costume design and it's because characters like Skyler are consistently well-dressed that made this point so glaring

When she's hosting, when she goes to the office, hell even her house robes are sophisticated, put together fits - I'm not sure how she affords those sumptuous silk kimonos she's always wearing but it hammers home Skye as an appearance-minded person, a woman who knows how to dress. Even with the shit camera quality, you can tell her hot pink baby shower dress was made for her.

And yet.

Walt and Skye go to that party in complementing loud, harsh, ugly blues for what they learn is a beige party - the literal exact opposite of blue.

Now, it'd be one thing if they'd known and worn beige outfits that were shabby in comparison and Walt got in his feelings about it. Or if they'd truly "missed the memo" as Walt snarks and come in normal-wear that was out of dress code - yep could see Walt assuming it was intentional and throwing a fit.

But this poor couple attending a billionaire's party for some reason thought they should wear gaudy blue, with Skye's dress in particular highlighting exactly how cheap it is. It's almost as if they were under the impression they had to wear a color a domesticated adult would be unlikely to already own and rarely looks good on a budget, doubly so if you're 8 months pregnant. Skye would NEVER wear that shiny ass prom dress with the ruched center seam, scratchy 100% polyester raschel lace shawl, and sequined evening bag in public unless she thought it was her only choice. She never wears anything like this again, not even in the same season. The only rational explanation is someone lied to them. The more I explain this, the more I realize why most people missed it.

Now for the less special interest type reasons:

Walt asks (then later confirms) the invite said "no gifts." You might say oh, maybe Elliot was trying to spare Walt's pride but if so, why make a point of sharing it like he did? Why even invite your broke prideful friend to this kind of party, like you can't think of any other way to meet, chat, and ask if he'll work for you?

Additionally, how odd that Walt's was the only invite that didn't say this was a beige party.

Really can't downplay how hard it is to swallow they forgot to tell the Whites not to show up in clown uniforms.

Elliot's loudly showing off his gifts, with the last being an autographed Eric Clapton Stratocaster® which on the low end today is a $2000 electric guitar, but can go to the tens of thousands. Then he spots his friend's meager, teensy little thing, smaller than his hand and LITERALLY POINTS WALT OUT so everyone knows for damn sure who did this. Elliot unwraps it and does this full body sigh. Hands dropped. Your dad getting another tie for father's day type reaction. Young Good Ramen. No this is great man. You can get 10 for 1.99.

Sorry, no it WAS malicious. Listen to his voice. Feel how long he held that unpleasant silence before forcing a chuckle. Holding eye contact throughout while the crowd darts their eyes and smirks. This isn't Harry Potter - you can't emphasize how shitty something is then magically negate it like "and that's why I love it hahaha!" Elliot made it clear where he thinks Walt stands. Beneath him.

The whole party is like this, a humiliating horror show of socializing out of your social sphere. We don't even know what their relationship was like before. The implication is that Walt separated from this guy before for a reason and the reason was probably in line with what we saw today.

Elliot isn't stupid. He knows Walt. He knows Walt's character. He knows their financial disparities. He knows Walt is sick. Presumably he's well aware of Walt's pride. An intelligent and well-meaning friend doesn't accidentally combo-hit the exact weak points that caused you to drift apart in less than an hour before asking hey how would you like to literally owe me your life? How would you like the kind of debt that can't be repaid? :) You're a smart man.

If Elliot really cared about saving Walt, he wouldn't have gone about it the way he did. If, however, he wanted to antagonize and flex on Walt, make him as uncomfortable as possible, keep in his wife's good graces by offering him a job, and end the night with two possible outcomes - either he accepts and gets richer or he rejects and elliot can say "Welp honey, your former lover and ex-fiance Walter White said no for some weird reason. oh well, I tried! :)"

Idk, I guess it could be a projection but the way Elliot talked to Walt reminded me of old friends whom, in retrospect, didn't even try to hide their disdain for me. Like wow how did I miss that.

I think Gretchen had honest intentions. Her husband didn't. I don't know what his deal was exactly but I'd exhaust all other resources before accepting this dude who publicly embarrassed me as my savior, livelihood, and future employer.

idk of it's just me but i don't understand, the atla fandom, from all ships existing would just slander zukka out of nowhere. like mf i just want to see my boys being silly and in love in fanwork, why they need to be so mean lmao

I think it's because for close to 20 years, Kataang and Zutara were reining supreme in ship wars and fandom space. Jetko was the main mlm ship before but it didn't have nearly the same popularity. No other ship could even touch those two and those two continued arguing about what's best for canon.

Now though? Zukka's the second most popular ship on ao3- all of those fics and content showed up in 3 years. And suddenly the Netflix actors are pushing for Zukka practically every interview while actively dissuading Zutara(and hinting strongly at Kataang- thanks Gordon & Kiawentiio going "he/she's my.....family, yeah let's say family *wink* *wink*"). They're getting extremely popular and now fucking Netflix, Entertainment Weekly and Deadline are tagging #zukka in the year of our lord 2024(thank you for your service Dallas Liu, braver than the marines). Popular ships unfortunately get hate, especially queer ships, like just as a baseline regardless of if it's a canonically supported or unsupported ship, if it's "morally correct or incorrect".

This 'crackship' that no one took seriously suddenly feels...like a threat to these people??? Like we can joke about hahaha zukka gayyyy but we all know that's just silly gobbledygook right? (Not saying Zukka should or could be canon, but just the fact that people are seriously considering it as a ship option in fandom makes people act weird)

A lot of the the points made for "why Zukka is bad actually" are so funny though, that my initial irritation is fading and I'm just laughing at it. Some highlights that made me actually lose it:

Zukka is misogynist to Katara because, and I shit you not, they think that we think Katara is homophobic sdjfhbbgvh. I was shook when I discovered this was a thing.

Zukka bad because Klance bad (war flashbacks to Voltron)

I think people who are Big Mad don't get that we're genuinely just chilling and making silly stuff without thinking too much about what SHOULD happen in canon. Everyone in ATLA fandom takes the show and the fandom far too seriously, like losing a fan discussion is somehow a slight upon their personal morals.

We coasted along without much hate for a good while but the increasing popularity means Zukka as a ship is going to get bashed ;_; I think the best we can do is block and ignore instead of engaging(very hypocritcal of me rn tbh, I'll try to stop).

i have been a big city greens fan from the very beginning and i recently just started rewatching it with my best friend who’s never seen it before. she lives over a thousand miles away in another state and it’s so hard being apart, but every night we get on the phone and watch BCG together through disney+. it has been one of highlights of my weeks lately.

I relate so much to Gloria, more than i wish i did sometimes, as a barista currently trying to make it as an artist and dreaming of going to paris hahaha. I love her.

all of this to say that i am so thankful for big city greens and the characters, it is so real and so funny and such a comfort to me. when BCG came out i had just started art school and it was a huge inspiration and continues to be today as i have grown and learned. my dream was and still is to make something as heartfelt and genuine as BCG one day. I’ve come close to giving up so many times and this year especially has been really difficult in a lot of ways, but rewatching your show has reminded me of what i set out to do in the first place. it has helped me find that motivation again.

thank you and Shane for creating such a gem, you have no idea how much it means to me. I hope you and your family had a wonderful thanksgiving!

Oh man, this made my day! Thanks for sharing. It makes me really happy to hear that BCG (and Gloria) is so special to you. I love that you watch it with your friend over the phone. That's adorable??? And it's surreal to hear that BCG is such an inspiration to you because I remember being in art school and wondering the same questions. "Will I ever be able to make something as cool/inspiring/original as ______??"

As cool as it is to be inspired by stuff you like, it can easily become discouraging (at least this is my experience.) Think of all of the artwork/songs/films we've missed out on because artists have talked themselves out of completing their project. Tragic!

It's important to remember that you'll never make anything like BCG (or anything you're inspired by) and that's a good thing! Whatever you create, will go through your individual "filter." It really will be unique because there's no one like you. No one has your exact experiences, perspectives, and outlook on life. Just keep making stuff that feels personal and honest to you and you're bound to make something interesting and unique.

And to answer your question (thank you for finally following the RULES)... Cricket's favorite song would probably be ever-changing depending on his current mood. But I like to think that Gene Autry's "Don't Fence Me In" is quietly playing on loop in the back of Cricket's brain. I could see Tilly loving Mama Cass's "Make Your Own Kind of Music."

this is probably literal nonsense lol, i wrote it in probably half an hour, but i've been reading a lot of mafia books lately hahaha and i took inspiration from those

Rowan was watching her. 

He’d been watching her for a while, first because of orders, and the duty he knew he had to fulfill. But more recently it’d been out of his own interest. Because Aelin Galathynius was a fascinating creature, and he’d been unable to stop himself from wanting to see what she was going to do next.

As a mafia “princess,” there wasn’t much freedom she was really allowed. But the few grasps she had, she took and ran with. 

Whether it was staying outside for a little too long after being called in, trying to give her bodyguard the slip while out shopping, even foolishly attempting to steal money from her father’s account to purchase a ridiculously expensive pair of shoes. 

She had to know he probably would’ve bought them for her anyway, so Rowan assumed it was about the principle of the matter. Aelin liked to make waves, when the rest of her family would rather the boat not get rocked at all.

You could say it was out of luck that their surveillance hadn’t been discovered by now, but really, Rowan knew it never would be. Connall Moonbeam was far too good at his job, and Rhoe Galathynius’ joke of a security team was far too incompetent. He almost wished they were a little better, just to make this more satisfying. It wasn’t as exciting when there was no challenge. 

But the challenge would come later, when Galathynius realized what exactly they were up to. 

Of course, by then it would be too late, but his rage would be delicious. 

Rowan wondered what her rage would taste like, if it would be as sweet.

Narrowing his eyes, he sucked in a little more smoke from his cigar as he looked over across the water, his gaze landing on her figure immediately. Aelin was out tanning on her family’s yacht, followed by guards and not even leaving the marina, but still trying to act like she was in control. It was admirable, albeit stupid and pointless. 

She had no idea he was up here, on the second deck of the boat right next to hers. He’d swindled it away from the previous owners with a threat and a well placed stack of cash, using it as another method of his surveillance. They’d make their move soon, but for now he just wanted to watch. 

Rowan was sunning himself, stripped down to just a bathing suit as he laid back in his chair, set up to have the perfect vantage point. Maybe he should’ve felt like a creep, but he didn’t really give a fuck. 

Her blue eyes were closed and hidden behind a pair of expensive shades, her body highlighted by a tiny white bikini that was verging on obscene. That’d been a secret purchase, he supposed. Rhoe Galathynius wouldn’t have allowed it, no matter how much his princess pleaded. 

She could spend however much money she wanted, but she couldn’t wear anything that made her look like anything less than a perfect future mafia wife. Rowan wondered if she knew what was planned for her, who was planned for her, if she accepted her fate or not. He could answer that last one easily: she would never. She would get married kicking and screaming, until her parents found the right leverage, or the right incentive. Whichever would do the trick to make her willing to make the right connections.

It was the way of their world. Rowan knew it. Her parents knew it. Little Miss Princess would know it soon enough.

Movement caught his gaze, and Rowan turned his head to see a new figure joining Aelin on the back deck, watching as she sat up and smiled, moving her sunglasses so he could see those eyes of hers shining. From a quick glance, observing dark hair, blue eyes, and a million dollar grin, Rowan knew exactly who’d shown up. 

Dorian Havilliard. 

Another person of interest for The Cadre, though for different reasons. Rowan knew of their friendship, but he couldn’t stop his free hand from dancing along the edges of his gun as he considered if that was her intended. He could end that little problem easily right now. It would be a simple shot, and then he could slide off the boat and into his car before they even figured out where it came from. 

If the previous owners of the boat tried to spill who they’d sold it to, well, Rowan was sure Lorcan would send someone to take care of it. 

But he restrained himself, knowing the complications it could cause. Not for his own safety, but for their plan. It’d taken too long to get to this point already, too much death and sacrifice. Rowan wouldn’t thwart their chance at revenge for something as petty as this. Even if the thought of Havilliard dropping dead right there gave him an immense amount of satisfaction.

Still, Rowan forced his hand to relax, letting it rest back on the arm of his chaise lounge as he soaked in the sun. Havilliard wouldn’t be an obstacle for long, anyway. Nothing would.

The name - Rowan Whitethorn - wasn’t known in these circles, but his other name was. Hawk. One of the five names of the Cadre, an organization that had been causing chaos for all of the mafia families within the past year or so. All of it was very much deserved. The criminals of Rifthold were going to pay for the crimes they’d committed years ago, whether they were aware of what they’d done or not. 

They’d start with the Galathynius’ and the Havilliard’s, before moving on to the Hamel and his precious Assassin’s Keep, and then finally to the one woman they all despised. All five of them were from different backgrounds, and had different reasons for this revenge. But that woman…she deserved death by all of their hands.

But that would come later. For now - it was getting close to time to steal a certain mafia princess straight out of her castle, and welcome her straight into hell.

King and Rouxls NOT in a Relationship Masterpost

The spiritual successor to my King and Queen Divorce Masterpost. Similarly to that post, this will all probably be common knowledge to most of the fandom. But apparently, some people still exist out there who think King and Rouxls are a couple (or in some interpretations, that they used to be one, making them exes now), so I guess I gotta make this post to explain to you all why that is incorrect and they were never a thing together in the first place.

(Once again, apologies for the not-so-great screenshot quality. It's easier to grab it from YouTube videos rather than having to play the whole chapters over again for the dialogue, lol...)

Starting off with some shop dialogue from Chapter 1...

Rouxls is very insistent on not being related to Lancer. If he and King were romantically involved, that would make Lancer his stepson (or soon to be one), and therefore related. Then, the line "I placate you for your Father's sake!" refers to the fact that the King makes his subjects take care of Lancer. This makes Rouxls much more like a babysitter than anything, specifically one that Lancer latched onto as a secondary father figure because Spade King can't spend enough time with his son himself. In a way, you could see it as Lancer "adopting" Rouxls as a new dad, rather than the other way around!

And to clarify, the fact that King makes his subjects care for Lancer is established a bit earlier on, with this leaf-fanning Rudinn NPC.

Notice the use of the word "obligatory" here... The original definition of this word is "required by a legal, moral, or other rule; compulsory." So in other words, it seems that they are (quite literally) legally required to take care of the King's son, whether they want to or not.

And then, this last line from the Rudinn about Lancer is actually rather sad... But, looking at Rouxls Kaard's full dialogue about Lancer, we can see that he does genuinely care about the kid deep down. (The following screenshot is taken from the wiki.)

Perhaps this could be at least partially why Lancer latched onto Rouxls in particular over any other subjects.

Now, my next point... In-universe, Rouxls has some fans.

This specific Rudinn NPC, as well as Clover (or at least her friendly middle head), both appear to have crushes on Rouxls, referring to him as a "hunk". If Rouxls was already taken, I'd imagine that they would have mentioned this in their dialogue, since dating the King would probably be hard to keep a secret (especially when Rouxls seems like the type to brag about dating someone in power)... So, to me, this dialogue seems to imply that Rouxls is single.

Bonus fact: Clover's fondness of Rouxls is referenced in Chapter 2 as well, with "Rouxls" being one of the correct answers for choosing a thing she likes during her rematch challenge in the Party Dojo. (Screenshot taken from the wiki again, with Rouxls highlighted for clarity since, uh, there's a lot of options listed, hahaha)

And on the topic of Chapter 2, it also has its own evidence to share.

Throughout Chapter 2, Rouxls is shown to be very fixated on becoming Queen's minion. A post of mine compiling all of these moments can be found here. While it's not entirely confirmed yet to be with romantic intentions, it really seems to me like it is implied as such. Especially with Rouxls thrusting a flower vase bouquet onto Tasque Manager because he thought she was Queen. If this is the case, then it should be safe to say that he is not already in romantic relationship with anyone else canonically when he is going after someone else in this manner.

Now, time to address some potential counterarguments...

A small number of people seemed to have interpreted this line as King and Rouxls being exes as well, instead of just King and Queen. However, I believe Rouxls Kaard's choice of words here is only meant to be in reference to King and Queen's divorce, rather than implying that he had a past relationship with King himself (aside from simply working for him). Describing himself as Queen's "nyew (new) Man about Towne (town)" implies that King was her "old" one. And although Rouxls apparently never met Queen back when she was still a part of Card Castle (since he mistook Tasque Manager for Queen as mentioned before, and Queen certainly doesn't recognize Rouxls either), I imagine it wouldn't be difficult for him to figure out on his own that King and Queen are exes, assuming he was eavesdropping on their conversation before butting in during this scene.

Then, King telling Queen that Rouxls is Lancer's "Lesser Father"... This implies that Lancer has referred to Rouxls as Lesser Dad in front of King. I can only imagine how awkward and embarrassing that must have been for King to hear his son let that nickname slip. And he certainly does not look happy about it here, most likely annoyed by the fact and by Rouxls Kaard's antics in general. So, why would he introduce Rouxls this way to Queen? Well, the answer is simple. If Lancer let the nickname slip in front of King, then it is very possible he could refer to Rouxls as Lesser Dad in front of Queen, too. Remember, Queen came here in the first place to tell Spade King that she is going to take care of his son from now on. So this explanation by King provides her with context in case Lancer starts talking about "Lesser Dad" to her.

Now, I'm almost done here, but I'd like to go over one more thing: Why King and Rouxls are simply not compatible with each other.

Starting with Rouxls, he is not a very loyal person. He constantly switches sides throughout the game so far. From King, to the player, to Queen, to the player again (when all the NPCs help you create the giant mech to fight Giga Queen), then back to Queen in Castle Town.

His shop dialogue is a great example of this. After completing the second K. Round fight, he starts sucking up to you, brags about always being on "the winning side" (gee, I wonder why /s), and even claims that he planned to overthrow the King all along. And even before the K. Round fight, Rouxls's dialogue about King isn't exactly respectful, calling King "cruel and terrifying" and noting how he only got to become the Duke of Puzzles because every other option was fired and/or imprisoned.

Now, moving onto Spade King... He has some pretty bad trust and abandonment issues, to say the least.

His entire reason for hating the Lightners in the first place is because they abandoned him and his kingdom, and when he is overthrown by his own subjects at the end of Chapter 1, he gets very upset and even starts shouting death threats at them.

Although King is much calmer in Chapter 2 (at least towards the Lightners, ironically enough, as he still loses his temper at Queen), he still isn't exactly fond of you. So it's safe to say that he would still not take kindly to traitors, either, even if he might not react as extremely as he did in Chapter 1's ending.

So, considering both characters' details here, I can only conclude that they would make a terrible match for each other. Rouxls is the exact type of person that King is known to despise, and trying to claim otherwise would require stripping away some very significant traits of both King and Rouxls in order to make this disaster pairing "work". It would either be an extremely unhealthy relationship, or an extremely out of character one. And in cases of the latter, at that point I think you should just make your own OCs instead. This ship is not canon, it never was canon, and it never will be canon.

MUSIC IS SOMETHING CRUCIAL, and if you are going to do it from a period or at least from a country with a certain accent and tradition, it must have that, both in voice, sound, and instruments that accompany it.

With WISH I agree yes and no, so let's go in parts before addressing the topic of my main title, which is the wish song in Spanish version and its singer. On the one hand I agree with his music and his songs, it is SPECTACULAR WITH THE CASTANETS IN THE BACKGROUND, IT IS AMAZING and honestly it is very faithful to the time, culture and country it deals with. 3 songs have been released."this wish" (which is the main song)

Now, I don't know if she is going to sing all the songs that Asha sings, and I was thinking about the song at the beginning, Welcome to Rosas. You have seen how Asha dances, the turns she does, that way of dancing she has, That is so typical of those regions but with this voice it would simply be the perfect mix, imagine for a moment the Welcome to Rosa song with this voice and you will feel like dancing and playing castanets, that IS quite representative of SPAIN, ANDALUSIA , AND ALL ITS NEAREST REGIONS, but I don't know if it will be like that in the end (we'll see as more trailers for the movie come out in Spain)

♡ For starters, I want to say a big thank you to @frogchiro and @seakicker!! Aside from giving me the brainrot which caused all of this, Kin shared some notes on her characterization of Pierro. And Juju inspired this whole fic with her amazing Pierro x Fertility Goddess AU!! ♡ Originally, the Jester’s story was going to be a short post and not my regular longfic + side story. But after getting too many ideas and developing Savior! Darling’s character….…rip my word count. The idea of Pierro subduing a fallen goddess was too powerful u_u

♡ It’s official. Pierro is the most difficult Harbinger I’ve ever written for. Forget his dialogue, I died balancing his “hot and cold” attitude. I headcanon Pierro to be a possessive, controlling yandere deeply influenced by his trauma. His main strength is his intelligence, as shown by how he strategically orchestrates and manipulates events to his advantage.

♡ Among the Harbingers I’ve written for, Pierro is the least outwardly affectionate. He has strict expectations for his darling, such as her full loyalty and education, and will always prioritize the Tsaritsa/ Fatui over her. That doesn’t negate his soft spot for his darling—he simply has greater responsibilities as the Jester.

♡ Savior is my kindest and oldest darling. She’s a foil to Pierro in the sense that her grief left her with self-hatred, survivor's guilt, and a passive attitude. I gave her a veil for the mystery/ bride vibes + it fits in with the Fatui’s mask aesthetic. Her intellect and divine powers make her a formidable darling, and I enjoyed writing the scenes where she challenges Pierro >:3

♡ My thought process for making Savior the God of Mist was, “clouds/ mist can obscure one’s vision.” Her character references the Greek goddess Achlys simply cuz I’m a slut for mythology and symbolism. While she can create regular harmless mist, she can secretly claim “territories” via special mist made from her blood—an allusion to her self-sacrificial nature. I personally imagine her to be around 4,000-5,000 years old.

♡ And how could I forget my babygirl Oizys?? Like Savior’s other friends, he is named after a mythological deity. I wanted to make him similar to his namesake/ different from Pierro, hence their comparisons and his emotional, outspoken personality. He’s very close to Savior, as they are each other’s last surviving friend. In his final moments, all he wanted was to go home to her ;-;

♡ Godhood/ Power – hahaha so for Pierro, I wanted to highlight the power imbalance between him and his darling. Before he became a Harbinger, he relied on the pity/ mercy of Savior. But after?? He views Savior as someone beneath him and wants her submission + praise. This desire also applies to their bedroom activities~

♡ Grief — as mentioned earlier, Pierro and Savior are foils to each other. Both of them have lost everything to traumatic events and thus find it difficult to move on. But while Savior succumbed to her grief, Pierro actively stepped up to seek justice and “improve” the world.

♡ Originally, Savior could bless people with fortune through her kisses. That idea was an excuse for her to kiss Pierro’s forehead before he left + for Pierro to request her kisses. I think their first kiss scene turned out much better <3

Conversation with Zhongli

♡ Sooo Savior personally knows Zhongli!! While they are nothing more than acquaintances, they can relate to each other as old gods who outlived their friends. Similar with Pierro and the Tsaritsa, Savior admires Zhongli but feels pathetic compared to him. I originally planned to write their conversation but decided that it was enough to just mention it.

Savior’s Cold Hands

♡ In Chess Piece, Pierro prefers Snezhnaya’s climate due to his experience with Celestia’s sea of flames. Originally, he compares the latter to Savior’s low body temperature as a mist deity. It was going to be one of Savior’s insecurities since she can’t provide comforting warmth for humans……an inhuman trait which is perfect for Pierro.

♡ Catch me simping as I finally wrote Pierro’s glow-up and their reversed power imbalance. Yes, it was necessary for him to kabedon Savior and bring her to her knees. Yes, he secretly enjoyed that moment. I can’t say that my mind was pure when I wrote that scene =w=

You kneel on the floor, hands clasped together. “O, Lord Pierro, I humbly thank you for saving an undeserving creature such as myself! ♡ Congratulations, Savior, for getting on Pierro’s nerves!! I greatly enjoyed writing this quote and the overall scene. One thing which sets Savior apart from the other darlings is her ability/ willingness to challenge her yandere, from irritating Pierro to strategically claiming her prison to semi-successfully escaping. It makes for an engaging dynamic between two smart immortals.

♡ Forget Pierro, Dottore steals the spotlight in iii. bishop. I didn’t originally plan for him to show up in another Harbinger’s fic, but he is simply that powerful. After 16.5k words of Pierro, it was very refreshing to reunite with Dottore’s chaotic energy. Since my Yandere! Harbinger fics are in the same universe, I referenced Dottore’s darling for funsies (๑･̑◡･̑๑)

I see that in Brettas bio she is a writer but does she get any of her stuff published or printed? If so, would she write?

Oh oh oh, thought of something! She writes a book and Holly could illustrate parts of it!

For the longest time she didn't, both because, with Hallownest being in the state it was, there was simply no way for her to publish it, and because she wasn't confident enough to self-publish - besides, the state of the population meant that it just wasn't worth the effort.

But after The Radiance was defeated and Hallownest slowly gained more inhabitants, the thought has definitely crossed her mind. The city was an option, perhaps she got in contact with some kind of scribe that could help her produce many copies of her work. But what then? I think she tried to sell her poems and stories in the city, but with the still low population, there wasn't much demand.

I really like the idea of Grimm offering to help her out, if she ever wanted to become a known writer. He loves literature, he'd definitely love to read her work, and he undoubtedly knows some people from other lands who could help her distribute her work and make a profit and gain fame. He does open himself more to the Dirtmouth folk over the months and years, so something like this would be a really nice way to show that development. Plus it would emphasize the sense of community between Dirtmouth residents that I really want to highlight in the AU. They're a relatively small town, everyone would know each other, and that brings them all closer.

So if she does decide to accept his offer, perhaps she could travel with the Troupe to the other kingdoms and try to distribute her work there, or entrust it to Grimm and his Troupe, since they clearly know what they're doing. She's not exactly the most confident about her work, so I could see her opting for the second scenario, at least at first. Though I'm sure the prospect of traveling to other lands with the Troupe would be very attractive to her, there's a ton of inspiration to be found there.

As for what she writes, I like to think they're either poems, short stories, or novels. Romantic novels would be something she particularly likes, but I think she would be pretty good at writing something more horror-themed, especially since she sees Grimm and the Troupe as a big source of inspiration, particularly Grimm and his seductive vampiric aura. She would absolutely be the pioneer in Hallownest's vampire romance literature hahaha. But generally I think she would try to tackle multiple genres, whatever inspiration brings. Maybe even some stories for children? I imagine those would be quite popular among the Dirtmouth youth. I mentioned in a previous ask that I'd love for there to be a small school for the young in Dirtmouth, since more and more bugs move in and start families, and that perhaps Quirrel could become the teacher in this school. If that's the case, then Bretta's writing skills would be very welcome there.

And yes, Holly would absolutely love to illustrate her books, they're very talented so their joined effort would without a doubt result in something great. Despite their eyesight issues, they are very good at drawing from reference, so maybe together they could travel around Hallownest in search for inspiration. I'm sure Hornet would know some really nice spots they could visit. It's fun to imagine them all (plus Zote, naturally) traveling like that together, like friends. Hornet definitely needs those.

seasonal animes: Oshi no Ko 01-06

I mentioned a bit that I was watching this one but I never wrote anything very substantial about it, so lets remedy that!

Oshi no Ko is wild. Every time I think I know where it’s going, it goes somewhere else.

The premise already sounds pretty deranged. Here’s what I knew going in. A gynecologist is visited by the idol Hoshino Ai he’s obsessed with, who’s pregnant with twins. Just before the twins are born, he’s murdered by a stalker. He’s reborn as one of her kids, along with one of his previous patients who was also obsessed with the same idol; they’re now named Aquamarine and Ruby and have... a less than easy time containing their otaku impulses.

This sounded like a setup for some kind of Spy x Family-like comedy where the two babies with the minds of adults have to keep secret that they’re reincarnated and so forth. Maybe with a dash of Paripi Koumei with ‘unlikely strategist and hopeful young performer’ dynamic. You could easily wring a whole season out of writing scenarios around that premise.

But... hahaha it’s not that at all.

By the end of the first movie-length episode, Ai is killed by the same stalker, who then kills himself. The protagonist convinces himself that the only way the stalker could have known where to find Ai is if her secret lover, the father of the two reincarnation-babies, deliberately leaked her location. So he makes his new mission in life revenge, and we timeskip forward to when the twins - raised by Ai’s producer’s wife - are about to go to high school.

So it’s a revenge drama in a high school setting, right..? You know the type of thing, a class of genius schemers enacting plots against each other..?

No. It’s actually mostly about the entertainment industry.

An episode plot might be, the protagonist reunites with an actress he met on set during his brief stint as a child actor. Realising that it might be an opportunity to get a DNA sample of one of his list of suspects, he gets involved in the shitty TV drama she’s involved in, playing a one-episode antagonist. And despite his ulterior motive, he decides he should do the actress a favour. So, applying his nigh-supernatural analysis skills and willingness to sacrifice his own dignity, he figures out how to elevate the final episode of the production.

His sister meanwhile is dying to become an idol herself. And our ridiculous scheming boy wants to make it happen, despite underlining at every turn how harsh the entertainment industry is for performers. He emotionally manipulates the same actress girl to join.

So it’s actually one of those special-interest anime where the world revolves around one activity, and here that thing is performance (film acting and music). But it’s also a comedy and a ridiculous drama as well. It’s fun.

Visually, it’s very shiny. There’s an interesting blend of highly stylised designs for the MCs and other teens, (each MC inherited exactly one of Ai’s six-pointed eye stars and could easily lead a romance manga), and a more realist approach taken with the adults. Are we at last at the peak of eye highlight escalation? Can it go further? It makes effective use of coloured lines; there’s some very strong boards and in general the animation is solid, with moments of real greatness. Shoutout to Kenji Sawada’s excellent depiction of our boy acting as a stalker in episode 4, and whoever animated the uhhh masked strength training youtuber in episode 5. Animating realistic muscles for such a long dance sequence is a hell of a task lmao. (Good ‘long take’ gag too.)

Compared to Paripi Koumei, it has... simultaneously a more grounded view of the entertainment industry as cynical, grubby capitalism. In some ways it’s kind of a tour of the different ways people relate to the industry, the different methods people might pursue to get ahead, and it isn’t just a simple ‘path to success’ sort of thing.

But it’s also a very heightened manga spin on that, with much larger-than-life archetypal characters. It has a bit of a tendency to reiterate and underline what happened and why it’s important to a level that sometimes feels a little much (and now another round of ‘the acting sucked in this TV drama but the last episode was good’), but on the whole, it has momentum, and a talent for coming up with non-obvious scenarios and resolutions. And a great deal of it is about the actual craft of acting; it likes to play up contrast between performances and behind the scenes characterisations, and a lot of time is spent on characters talking about the right way to perform for a particular show.

Anyway, then episode 6 comes along, and things get rather Perfect Blue after the relatively light-hearted previous few episodes. This episode’s plot sees Aqua involved in a dating reality show, but the story mainly revolves around a girl who is pressured into a reckless but ultimately harmless action that gets her hard cancelled online, which she seriously takes to heart and attempts suicide. The whole show uses voiceovers heavily in the classic anime fashion, but in this episode, it’s particularly effective. ‘Storm of cruel social media comments’ is a recurring motif in a lot of anime over the last decade or so, deployed to greater (the end of Devilman Crybaby) or lesser (Belle) effect; here it’s done well, with a lot of care to recreate the UI of various social media sites, and honestly I wasn’t sure if they were going to kill this girl off or not (in the end, Aqua intervenes at the last second).

So where is this going to go in the long run? Its interests are becoming clear, Aqua talks a big game about being hard-headed but just can’t help intervening to help people out of various Situations. But I still have no idea how it will bring it together in the end!

I absolutely need to go back and watch the widely praised adaptation of Kaguya-Sama: Love is War which was by the same mangaka.

The other gift that this series brought is is one of the longest and silliest threads of fansubber drama on the whole of Nyaa, which is really saying something.

anyways! that's pretty much what it is when it comes to college and frankly? i just wanna get it over with like literally the only highlight to it is seeing my friends and spending time with my boyfriend 😭 but!! a social science major sounds cool! i'd say you have some pretty good goals set in mind and you can always take up a minor if you want to pursue the others :> (i did consider having music as a minor) and sure! the courses depend on what you pick really and the college/professor, online is just about the same as in-person if you have a lot of reading on a pc to do tbh. english classes are well. kind of like the ones in high school but college-leveled. just make sure you give yourself enough time to do assignments bc they can be painful :"D

Hello! It's Winter. I started writing this story a few days ago, and after reading Strawberry's "The Wetsuit", I noticed quite a bit of similarity. I don't want dear Strawberry to think I copied her.

The White Bikini

He was working away at his desk, deep in his paperwork, when his wife entered the room trying ever-so-carefully not to disturb him. 

“I don’t mean to interrupt, but I wanted to inform you that I’m going swimming.” Brigitte stood in the doorway with a white towel wrapped securely around her slender frame. Her shoulder-length hair was tied up in a ponytail and a few wispy pieces fell around her face.

Emmanuel could identify her swimsuit just by looking at the white straps that highlighted her tanned skin.

“You’re killing me, darling. You know how much I love that two-piece.” He groaned, remembering what happened the last time she wore it. “I promise I’ll join you the moment I finish here.” 

With a wink, she whispered, “Don’t keep me waiting.” 

He had so much work to do, but he couldn’t concentrate. He watched his wife swim laps around the pool in nothing but that mouth-watering, jaw-dropping white bikini. He was glad they were alone because he’d never want her to be seen around strangers or their staff in such a revealing suit. 

Miraculously, his overwhelming stack of files was able to take him away from the pool situation for several minutes. When he looked up again, he screamed internally. 

Brigitte’s white bikini top had been discarded and laid casually on a patch of grass. 

When did she remove it? 

He decided he had worked long enough. He aggressively shoved his papers back into his briefcase and removed his t-shirt and socks before heading outside. 

“Brigitte! What are you doing?” He shouted from the edge of the pool. 

“Oh, there you are!” She teased, standing in the pool at the perfect level so her breasts were almost fully exposed. 

“Are you going to join me or do you plan to just stand there and stare?” she joked, laughing at how her husband gawked at her. The usual tent formed in his shorts and she couldn't help by smile.

Without hesitation, Emmanuel stripped off his swim trunks and dove head-first into the water, quickly swimming up to his beautiful wife. Wrapping his arms around her waist, he pressed his body into hers. Only when he felt the fabric of her bottoms against his skin, did he pull away. 

“You kept those on?” Emmanuel asked, raising his eyebrow. 

“I know how much you love to undress me...” Brigitte confessed. "You can have the honour."

She watched as he disappeared under the water, wondering what his next move was going to be. 

Suddenly, she felt his head between her thighs while his teeth ripped apart the strings that kept her bottoms in place. 

Careful not to hurt him, Brigitte pulled her husband up by his hair. “What are you doing? You’ll die underwater for that long!” She shrieked. 

“Yeah, but what a way to go, chérie. I would have died doing what I love.”

Hello sorry I am the anon that just sent you something a few minutes ago and I am rambling more now HRJMSKKDKS SORRY IDK WHO ELSE TO TALK TO ABOUT THESE THINGS BUT YEAH. I think one of the things that is difficult to accept by the fandom about aroace Senku is that, see, Senku /is/ attractive, right? most of his friends and the people he've met throughout his journey that are not also on the acespec are definitely capable of being attracted to him 'cause, well, he is attractive! So the idea that in spite of him being, well, such a 'catch,' this idea that his friends respect him enough to not make a move on him and understand/respect that he's not interested and will never be, is such an insanely warm and heartening thing to watch as an aroace. HAHAHA Okay I'm done now have a good day pt. 2!

Yes!!! I completely agree hahaha And same, I love talking about Senku being AroAce!

None of his friends force a romance onto him, no one going "Ah, eventually he'll come around" it's the opposite! Even Luna who "crushes" on him respects his autonomy and doesn't do anything, no plot of trying to get romantic or physical, even she respects his decision on whether or not he actually wants a relationship with her.

Kohaku and Chrome both say "People don't know Senku at all" whenever there's a "Ohh you're into them?" comments, like about Homura. They all know and just respect it.

I thank Inagaki and Boichi everyday that there wasn't a last minute forced romance between him and Luna or Kohaku, also because I feel like shonen specifically doesn't value male and female friendships together as much as it should be, and always makes some weird romance happen between the (male) protagonist of the series and their closest (female) allies. Seems to be changing in recent years tho!

I'm actually glad we as a society kinda move on from having a forced romance for the protagonist trope in shows ajdjwjr

Also I ranted about this to @cosplayprincess21 but sometimes I feel like the reason why we have both Taiju/Yuzuriha and Chrome/Ruri as established will be couples in the series, is to divert from Senku like "Nooo, look at those romance plots, nothing to see over there, yes look away from the scientist" and even then their romance plots are very, very subtle and don't feel forced, they're very sweet and I like them!

To paraphrase myself from one of our convos, in a way, the series just feels AroAce-spec by having every other types of relationships, like family (Byakuya and Senku, Ruri and Kohaku, Ryusui and Sai, etc, etc...), friendship (I don't think I need to give examples for those hahaha but the best has to be Senku and Taiju), and alliances from mentor and student to enemies who become allies to fight the same enemy, be highlighted much more than the romantic ones.

Like yes, we have obvious romantic moments, but they don't feel overpowering, they just feel natural and like a side note.

Plus again, they're not focused on Senku hahaha He's like a bystander who has to roll with the punches lmao

I hope this makes sense, I don't know how else to explain it ajdje 💀 Just the fact that romance is a footnote, not a driving force for plot in the entirety of the manga. You could rewrite the entirety and have the romances be just friendships and it still works, even if some details change. Plus again, just two of Senku's closest friends (Taiju and Chrome) having the romance instead of himself as the protagonist just feels very "How to make sure people won't scream for a romantic main plot"

Also yeah, I don't really count Luna's switch over as a romantic subplot, because Senku gave it his all to trick her into joining his team lmao

Boy exploited romance for his convenience and then dropped it the second he didn't need it anymore hahaha

Sorry, this became super fucking long, but I love ranting with others about Senku being the perfect AroAce rep and how it just makes sense 😭

So, dearest darling, I just wanted to say:

Each fic you do, the thing I find most exciting is the creative ways you dodge using 'y/n'. Let me tell you, I live for it. Like with the bodyguard au you decide to describe how he talks to mc instead of just simply slapping 'y/n' onto the sentence and calling it a day... and that just does it for me.

For this specific chapter I love how you used Jisung's and Hyunie's characters. Han starting the chapter literally made me go :( Partially bc he doesn't know his besties sleep in the same bed and have been doing so for the past 4 years. I wonder if they ever tell him...

With Hyunjin, ugh the character developed queen you are. Especially the part where mc is making sure he eats that cupcake ("You eat! You eat!"~Han Jisung) Tbh this chapter is so angsty bc yet again I go 😔 Sure, mc's life is basically hell but she has Felix... Who does Hyunjin have? :(((( I'm worried about him, does he have anyone he can rely on? :(

I audibly yelled when Felix caught mc with her hand in her pants 💀💀💀💀💀💀 I CACKLED! It was so funny to me like why couldn't a homegirl think of doing it under the covers😭😭??? Or in another bathroom of that humongous house

This brings me to the humanness of the chapter. A moment of silence for your ever-impeccable use of imagery🙇‍♀️ They're just kids. They really are just a boy and a girl at the end of the day. When Felix leaned over to peck her forehead I genuinely stopped reading for a second. The way he handles her so gently (most of the time hehe), coupled with the way she was counting the seconds.... Like darling be fr😭 How will I ever move on from this fic? I loved every description of how she clung to him because she didn't really know how else to deal with what she's feeling. And for heaven's sake Felix, KISS HER ALREADY! I love how I'm saying this knowing he can't. Ooh which reminds me, i loved the part where you said that crossing that line would have to be intentional. No not-so-accidental hanky panky here hah. For all the cliches that are allowed to slide in fanfiction, I once again love how you simply refuse to be ordinary.

Lastly, onto the smut hehe ;) The tension was everything to me. The build up was superb. All the times he rushed to the bathroom 😭😭✋ My favourite part was when he asked mc if Hyunjin had kissed her. I know that part wasn't steamy but if I was mc that would have told me all I need to know ✋ Anyways, you ate up every fic and it's author's pet with that mutual mast******** I would've physically died. Ack, pleeeeez, I'm so happy you enjoyed the latest chapter! It was a fecking titan to write, and it stressed me out something fierce. The birth was going to be as detailed as I could get it, I knew that going into the instalment before this one - that way, I can ease up on the detail in subsequent pregnancies (I hope lol). So there was a BUNCH of research I had to do to make sure it was right. It always grinds my gears just a little when I see something I know is medically/ physically/ generally inaccurate as a reader, notwithstanding fantasy embellishments of course. I'm glad it seems to have been pulled off well enough!

I also do try my best to write old-fashioned, haha. I was that dork in high school who thought she was better than everyone else because I carried around 'classics' and read them in my spare time. God, I was an uppity bitch. Wanna suckerpunch that ho when I think about her, lol. As a fun result, I picked up that rambling hoity-toity prose they use in older novels, so I do my best to emulate that within the bounds of reason. I try to maintain very deliberate stylistic differences between characters, too - for example, Babey rarely ever uses contractions (i.e. 'I won't' or 'please don't' etc.) to reinforce her prim-and-proper nature, and when she does it is a moment of tension (i.e. sex lol or the birth scenes). Daemon is somewhere in the middle as a noble but free-spirited dude (he'll use contractions, but he's still a bit of a fancyword guy). Kid characters like Luke will use words such as 'wanna' to highlight their youth, and so on. This adds nothing to the story, but it satisfies a little itch in my brain!

I TRIED TO ADD AS MANY NAWWWW TEAR-JERKY BITS AS I COULD HAHAHA, because I wanted this to be a real 'epiphany/ spiritual awakening' experience for Daemon. Like, "holy shit, I'm a daddy now". So this birth was big drama to unpack all that trauma that's been built up over the past 200,000-odd words and get them set on the road to healing. Babey made it through the birth just fine; she survived something she feared above all else, and Daemon was right by her side for it. (On a side note, this is actually a canon book thing - Daemon was present for all the births of his kids with Rhaenyra, INCLUDING Visenya, which makes me think he'd also have been present for Baela and Rhaena's births and his little stillborn boy.)

I have one of those history book snippets coming for the end of the next chapter, kinda like a book-end! Because I consider gevivys, donus rinus and nuhus prumys as plot-centric fics, I bookend them with the quotes; and because ilibitsos was a smut-centric one-shot fic, I began each 'part' with a quote. There is a weird method to that madness, I promise, haha! I really enjoy writing the history snippets - and this upcoming one has been written and waiting since Chapter 5 of donus rinus! Very excited to end the instalment with it.

I still think it's super weird how Wataru has a route but oh well we'll see how it goes lol! It's so cute how he insisted on getting Ema to go "ah~" so he can feed her ice cream lolll. Awww, how cute of Wataru to cover Ema from the water splashing on her during the dolphin show. I love how Yusuke and them teach him gentlemanly stuff hahaha. LMAO when Ema was telling Subaru to take off his jacket so she can wash his with hers since they're both wet, and Wataru was like taking clothes off is something you do for fun at night isn't it😂😂 Lolll at the CG with Wataru hugging Ema in her swimsuit, he's just a kid!!😂

I know it should be expected since it's Wataru's route but it's just so weird when Ema thinks about Wataru as a potential love interest lolll. The kid's like a baby lol! Anyway, it was funny when Maho helped Ema out and dragged Masaomi away at the cultural festival so she could spend it with Wataru lolll, and when she said she wanted to chase after Masaomi since he's nice and is a doctor lol. So awkward when Ema thought about how Wataru would grow up after Miwa said Ema should marry one of her sons😅😅😅 Ema, nooo lol😂 It was really sweet how Wataru said that he was crying because Ema was crying, such a soft little kid😭 Even though it's not as emotional and sweet as the with the other brothers (when she finds out she's adopted), it's cute how Wataru tells her in his own way that they should all go home because she's not alone and that everyone is looking for her so she gets the gist of their feelings in the end. Wataru is such a boss though, he told Masaomi to wait over there so he could cheer Ema up himself hahaha, I was wondering why Masaomi didn't do anything even though he was there lol. It's super reassuring to hear from Wataru that Ema will never be alone again because he'll always be there for her every Christmas, that's really sweet. HAHAHA, I love Tsubaki, he really knows how to get Wataru to follow him and cause trouble😂😂😂 Legit died when I saw Yusuke's test paper on the Christmas tree and the 1 point score hahahaha, and Subaru's boxers with his name on it😂😂 It was obvious the condoms were from Kaname's room but lmao that they're like in purple packaging 😂 Masaomi is the oldest but most innocent, he just has the first version of usa-tan (the rabbit doll) hahahaha.

I ended up binging the rest because I wanted to finish it asap since it just feels too weird to play an otome game but keep hanging with a literal child hahaha. I think Wataru writing his wish on the ema hoping that he'll be Ema's boyfriend one day was cute. However it's kinda silly how completely oblivious Ema is even though she caught a glimpse of it lol. To be fair, I guess you wouldn't think a kid is interested in dating you haha. I think them making a promise to basically be together forever was cute but yeah, the CGs are nice because it feels like Ema really is taking care of Wataru nicely haha. It was kinda funny when Wataru said he wanted to get into the same school as Iori because he wanted to be "high spec" enough to not lose to his brothers loll! At least contrary to his cute and oblivious looks, Wataru is actually very smart and athletic haha. Okay, I didn't expect to see an older Wataru lol!! That felt so weird!? I'm so used to his cutesy voice lol! And then the kiss CG omggg, very unexpected and still quite uncomfortable because he's like a middle schooler? Yeah nah man loll.

Overall, considering it's a route for a little kid, it actually wasn't too bad. Wataru was pretty cute, innocent and very sweet. He learns a lot of random gentlemanly things from Kaname and Tsubaki, some good some bad (but hilarious) so it's always such a highlight to see what he's learnt from his brothers and how he applies it to his life hahaha. He gets shy and a little jealous sometimes but he's mostly a very kind boy who Ema watches over and you can see why she's attached to him because he's very cute and tries his best at whatever he does. Him mimicking his brothers is hilarious and I loved seeing them throughout the game haha. But yeah, I think it would have been okay as a more platonic route because Wataru kissing her at the end was just so awkward, he's still a baby to me!! Lol. Otherwise, the route is basically filled with events of how it feels to hang with a cute kid and it really delivers in that area, not that I needed it though because I want a man LOL.

Like Maki said in the movie; the base requirement is been able to see cursed spirits (these people are windows, correct?) so being an assistant and being able to cast even the simplest barrier should mean that you’re able to manipulate your own cursed energy. Which logically should lead to Ijich being able to do what Gojo did when Toji stabbed him with the normal sword, to somehow strengthen his body enough so he won’t loose too much blood and not get a crucial hit in any vital organs… right? Am I wrong? Uuuh, Nanami will find him approximately after 10 minutes, if I’m not completely off and he’s not dead by then, that is… 😒
