Tumblr media
There are a lot of things you love about your apartment – the free water and electricity bill, how it's walking distance from your school, the really cold study lounge, and the cat that frequents your small balcony.
For its price, you really couldn’t ask for anything more. The cheap monthly pay goes perfectly with your very strict budget as a broke college student. So, truly, you couldn’t ask for anything more.
Actually, maybe you could.
Within all the great qualities your apartment has to offer, there lies one really, really big setback. The apartment right next to yours and your painfully thin walls. The amount of times it has fucked you up in the head after a long day of classes and exams are immeasurable.
Cue the soft banging of your head against your wall and the pillow around your ears to block out the noises, serene smiling as you greet her the next day as you walk out of the apartment together to head to your early morning classes.
The months before she moved, your apartment had been the safest haven to retreat to – where you could stare at the ceiling after a long day, finish your school work quietly before getting comfortable in your bed, and rewatch a show you’d seen a million times before sleeping to prepare for another battle in your university.
Now, your armor is faltering, and the number of hours of your sleep is decreasing gradually fast. Each night was just repetitive banging of her bed’s headboard against the wall between your apartment rooms and obnoxious moans.
You honestly wouldn’t have minded if they weren’t so fucking loud about it.
And if they didn’t go at it until the crack of dawn.
You hate to be told to be grateful. There’s a clear border for when you’re valid to feel frustration over your situation – when you’re allowed to be ungrateful for the downcast of your neighbor in your life.
Because of your predicament, you’ve found multiple alternatives to aid you in overcoming this temporary challenge. There’s a pair of noise canceling headphones on your nightstand that you begrudgingly used your savings up on to purchase, and you’d been a constant visitor in Seungmin’s dorms.
However, you can only go for so long before you start displaying lower back pains from Seungmin’s old and fucked up couch. His roommate, Jeongin, doesn’t help much either when he enjoys talking your ears off as he does anything but study for his classes.
This is what your new living situation is like. You live off Seungmin’s dying couch and the random stabs of pain on your lower back, your apartment neighbor having the time of her life, and the newly formed bags under your eyes.
You’ve definitely thought about marching up to her room and talking to her about it. But what the hell were you supposed to say? It isn’t exactly the easiest thing to confront people about their sex life.
That’s how you find yourself retreating from your apartment at the ass crack of dawn to sit at the main lounge for a bit, defeated with slumped shoulders and heavy eyes.
They can’t go on for much longer, right? You just had to wait at the main lounge for a few more minutes and you could go back to the comfort of your own bed.
“Good morning.” There’s laughter in the voice of the only other person lounging on the couches of your lobby, legs crossed with a tub of ice cream in his hands.
You recognize him as Han Jisung – the other apartment situated right next to your sex addict neighbor. You’ve only really seen him a few times, in the elevator, leaving for the gym as you come back from school, and you’ve only really shared a brief exchange of hi’s and hello’s. Seeing him in a hoodie and sweatpants with glasses on has your stomach doing a summersault.
He is so painfully handsome, jumping straight out of his hot-boy-with-humor trope.
As soon as your eyes meet, the two of you laugh so loudly and so hysterically. You just know. You know why he’s here at 2am with his tub of ice cream. He’s at the main lounge for the exact same reason you are, and something about that feels so humanizing and funny to you.
There’s a shared understanding in your crinkled eyes and cracked smiles and heavy panting from laughing too hard at your predicament. You don’t care that you look crazy with your messy hair from tossing and turning from your bed all night. Nothing looks or sounds crazy to Jisung.
He’s scooting over the couch to leave the space next to him for you, his hand dropping down to pat the spot so you can sit right next to him.
You’re quick to walk over and sit next to him, and he gives you a smile, fingers drumming over the arm of the sofa with his thigh pressed up against yours slightly that makes your heart beat erratically.
“Want some?” His round boba eyes look at yours as he nudges the tub of ice cream in front of you, twisting his body so he can face you better.
The scent of his cologne is holding you ransom.
None of this feels real, but you swear you can’t be making this shit up. You can’t be making up pretty Han Jisung with his slightly long and a bit disheveled hair and his puffed out cheeks as he chews on his ice cream.
Staring down at his offer, you go over your choices. Although, when someone offers up free ice cream at 2am when you need comfort the most, you don’t think there’s really a need to go over your invisible choices. There’s an obvious answer – the one you take as you grab a spoonful of his ice cream and stuff it in your mouth.
You close your eyes at the cold sensation, a smile creeping up on your face instantly. You’re the happiest you’ve been today already, in this moment, eating ice cream with the boy with worn out converse and the sweetest laugh.
“How have you been coping?”
Jisung knows exactly what you’re talking about, and he finds it hilarious how you’re labeling his response to your shared neighbor as ‘coping mechanisms’. His lips twitch up as he rolls his head back to rest on the cushions.
“You can only go so far with noise canceling headphones.”
“I know right!” Your face lights up as you take another spoonful of ice cream, nodding your head in agreement.
“I tried staying with a friend for a bit, but I’m tired of living off protein shakes and cuddling on the same bed. A double sized bed cannot fit me and Changbin.” He shivers as he recounts his experiences with the boy.
“Changbin as in Seo Changbin from the Music and Performing Arts department?”
“Yeah! Binnie! How do you know him?” Your question makes the smile on his face brighter.
“My friend Seungmin knows him. I’m definitely telling him you shaded his love for protein shakes and that you hate cuddling with him.”
“I don’t hate cuddling with him!” Jisung defends himself, shaking his head aggressively. “I would cuddle with him on a bigger bed.”
“Dude…” He laughs.
Something about how he has experienced the same struggles you have is a little haunting, but also comforting. To know you’re not the only one who has gone through the mockery of begging to stay at a friend’s or purchasing those stupid overpriced headphones.
“Wanna… uh, nevermind.”
“Hm?”
Jisung isn’t the most straightforward person in the world, but something about the way you’re looking at him with wide, curious eyes is intoxicating, and it gives him enough courage to continue talking.
Clearing his throat, he repeats. “Wanna go out for a bit?”
Han Jisung’s voice is very deep and very convincing at 2 in the morning.
“They’re not gonna be done soon?”
He studies your hopeful features and pats your shoulder in comfort. “I don’t wanna ruin your small ray of hope, but they were going at it until 4am last night.”
Grimacing, you drop your head in defeat. “If that’s the case, then let’s go.”
That’s how you find yourselves at a creepy, run-down convenience store near your apartment, purchasing more ice cream and looking through the stalls for anything to buy.
“Hey, Hannie!” You call out to him at the back of the store, and he comes padding over with a splash of giddiness in his heart at the nickname you give him.
His friends have called him that a million times, but it sounds different coming from you. It sounds so natural, like you were always meant to say it.
He bites down his lip to prevent himself from smiling further. His heart flutters at the possibility of you being a constant in his life. Hannie, Hannie, Hannie. It slips out of your mouth so easily that he wonders if the universe purposely gave you two that neighbor for this specific moment.
For him to meet you at the main lounge and invite you to the convenience store (and into his life in the process).
Is this what those stupid male leads feel like in those romantic comedies he binge watched with Changbin?
Jisung used to think it was absolutely ridiculous to meet someone and form an entire life with them in their head, but he finds himself doing the same in all his hypocrisy.
When he arrives to where you’re standing, he watches in amusement as you spend the next few minutes trying your hand at a run-down claw machine – desperately aiming for the pompompurin keychain.
First, you play with eyes of determination and careful movements, and then you’re smashing at the buttons in frustration.
Pretty, he thinks.
He can’t help but swoon at the sight of you with an oversized hoodie, smashing at the claw machine with your eyes half open and your lips pouted in defeat.
“Want me to try?”
You’re aware that claw machines were always faulty and deceiving, but you allow Jisung to try and win the keychain that’s probably cheaper to buy than the amount of money you’ve inserted in the coin slot to play the game.
With the plastic bag of ice cream and candy on his left hand, he uses his right hand to control the stick so he can angle the claw the way he needs it. Leaning forward, he focuses on getting the keychain you’ve been aiming for, pressing the red button after a few seconds of pushing it around.
His lips twitch in a smile when he sees the claw land exactly where he needs it to be, and he sneaks a glance at your anticipating face – heart speeding up at the sight.
“Oh my god. And you got the one I wanted?!” Jisung crouches down to grab the keychain from the prize slot before handing it to you and it immediately finds its home on the zipper of your wallet.
He has a proud smile on his face when he sees you hugging your wallet to your chest with a newfound happiness brightening your features. Even the convenience store lady is impressed at how he was able to get anything from that claw machine at all.
Maybe that’s what the graveyard shift does to you. It tires you out so much that you find someone winning at the claw machine game fun.
With an ice popsicle on your hand and your wallet with your new favorite keychain on the other, you and Jisung start to make your way back to your apartment. It was getting late, and they have to be done by now.
There’s a few moments of peace before you hear Jisung audibly trying to suppress his laughter. He’s trying not to giggle, and you know exactly why.
Your jaw drops, hitting him on his upper arm before sulking.
He doesn’t even need to tell you for you to know he’s laughing at your ice cream eating skills (your popsicle’s already melting and you’ve desperately been trying to finish it before it dissipates for the past few seconds).
There’s a taunting smile on his face as he apologizes. “I’m sorryyy.” He drawls the last syllable, bumping his shoulder with yours.
“You just look so cute.”
Something ricochets in your stomach the moment he says that, and you really hope he can’t hear your heart racing over his obnoxious giggling.
Jisung doesn’t know where he got the confidence to say that aloud. He’s also hoping the streetlights are dim enough for you not to notice the redness on the tip of his ears.
When you arrive, you immediately recognize the boy hurriedly rushing out of the apartment as your neighbor’s boyfriend. And when he speeds past the pair of you with a sheepish and shy smile on his face, you immediately make eye contact with Jisung.
Another fit of laughter breaks out.
And as you laugh and giggle over the poor boy’s obvious embarrassment, your eyes drift over towards Jisung, your newfound friend and how his eyes glint with genuine happiness and how he feels so comfortable to be with.
Similarly, Jisung finds himself mirroring your gaze. Somehow, he feels that starting today, things are definitely going to change between the two of you and the possible shift of your interactions into something more constant makes his heart flutter.
Before today, Han Jisung was just another boy who lived on the same floor as you, who you shared a few small pleasantries with. However, as the pair of you walk back to your rooms with your plastic bags of popsicle and candy wrappers and the hint of laughter still bubbling in your throats, you can tell that this moment right now with him feels like the beginning of something wonderful.
You hate to be told to be grateful, but in the stupidity of your own reflection, you are. For what – you’re starting to think it has something to do with the boy next to you.

gif tutorial
i was asked to make a tutorial for this set i made, so let's get right into it!
Tumblr media
first things first, i downloaded the music videos from youtube in 1080p using 4k video downloader. unfortunately, the quality of youtube videos always seems... not great, to put it simply. plus these music videos are from the 90s, so they've been upscaled to 1080p after the fact. all of this works against us, but i've definitely worked with videos of lesser quality than these, so at least there's that!
when i gif, i import video frames to layers rather than screencapping. this comes down to personal preference. after everything has loaded, i group all my layers together and set the frame delay to 0.05. i then cropped my gif to 540x500.
the next step in my process is sharpening. i did play around with my settings a bit given the quality of the footage and the dimensions of the gif. i compared both @hellboys low-quality video gif tutorial to my regular sharpening action and my vivid sharpening action and in this case, i preferred my normal vivid sharpening action. i used this tutorial to create the action for myself, and you can find other sharpening tutorials here. this action converts my frames to video timeline and applies sharpening.
once my gif is sharpened and i'm in timeline, i begin coloring. i wanted to simplify the amount of colors used in these gifs, again because of the video quality -- i knew it wasn't going to have the crispness i would normally like for my gifs. here are my coloring adjustment layers and their settings (not pictured: my first layer is a brightness/contrast layer set to screen) (explanation in alt text):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
all of these layers and their settings will vary depending on your footage and its coloring (and obviously, feel free to make the gradient map whatever colors you like if you aren't going for this exact look).
pretty basic coloring, especially with just slapping a gradient map on top (my beloved), but at this point, i still didn't like the quality of the gif, so i added a couple textures/overlays.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i put the left one down first and set the blending mode to soft light and the opacity to 8%. depending on what look you're going for, you could increase or decrease the opacity or play around with different blending modes. i like using this texture with lower quality footage because even when it's sized up a bit, it adds some crispness and makes things feel more defined. for the second texture, i set it to overlay and 75% opacity. we love and respect film grain in this house.
now for the typography! sometimes i really enjoy typography and other times it's the bane of my existence for the sole reason of just how many fonts i have installed. anyway, here are the settings i used for this set:
Tumblr media
make sure the color of your font is white and then set the blending mode to either difference or exclusion. i can almost never see a difference between the two, but for this set, i used exclusion. below are the blending options (double click on your text layer to bring up this menu or right click and select blending options).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
now we have to add the warp effect. with your text tool still selected, click this icon at the top of your screen:
Tumblr media
from the dropdown menu, select twist. these were my settings, but feel free to play around with different warp options and their settings. the ones i use most often are flag, fish, and twist.
Tumblr media
this last step is completely optional, but it's an effect i use in most of my sets with typography. duplicate your text layer (select the layer and ctrl+j), turn off the layer effects (click the eye icon next to effects), and set the blending mode to normal. right click on the layer and select rasterize type. right click on the layer icon itself and choose select pixels.
Tumblr media
at this point, you should see the moving black and white dotted line showing that only your text is selected. then go to edit > stroke. here are the settings i almost exclusively use.
Tumblr media
this is what your text should look like now:
Tumblr media
using ctrl+T, move the layer off the canvas so you can't see any of the text anymore. you should be left with only your outline. click anywhere on your canvas to de-select the text we just moved. use ctrl+T again as well as your arrow keys to nudge the outline over to the left 2px and up 2px. this is personal preference as far as the positioning, but i almost never move it any other way. you can leave it like this, which i sometimes do, or you can set the blending mode to soft light like i did for a more subtle effect.
and that's it! rinse and repeat for each gif in your set or use a different warp effect on each gif to switch it up! if you have any questions about this tutorial or would like me to make one for anything else, please feel free to ask any time!

Imagine Dottore as your doctor.
Warnings: Yandere themes, non-consensual touching, abuse of authority, drugging, increase and decrease in the use of prescription medication, physical and cervix examination, medical play, mature content.
Tumblr media
Dottore isn't necessarily the worst doable doctor, but it's fairly obvious that he lacks a significant number of the qualities that a traditional doctor should exhibit. He somewhat considers masquerading as a doctor as a pastime, something he chooses to undertake despite possessing limited interest in people, seeing it as a valid opportunity to further pursue his interest. Furthermore, it serves as a decent cover for his occupation within the Fatui, which the general public would describe as "vile" and "inhuman", but that isn't the main topic for today.
He has a basic understanding of medicine, but he's not the type of doctor that particularly cares about his patients. It's amazing he hasn't already been arrested considering he's the type of doctor to diagnose a patient with stage four cancer from a mere cough that was obviously just from a simple fever. When someone complains of backaches, Dottore is most likely to prescribe them insulin, which is generally prescribed for diabetics, and dismiss them whenever they inquire as to why the drug isn't working.
There is nothing more to playing doctor than a trifling amusement, a way to pastime.
Or so he thought.
As a new patient, you were required to meet him for a "meet and greet," which he obviously didn't want to do, but was forced to do by Pierro's persistent demands on managing the business properly to avoid suspicion. He had anticipated that the meeting would pass by rather smoothly, but by his definition of smooth, he had anticipated that you would flee the room in a fit of tears after he unintentionally criticised you over a trivial matter.
But you were remarkably unwavering, not wavering at the slightest amount of venom within his words. Instead, your only expression was a serene smile that never flickered; the only time your lips faltered was when you had to open your mouth to answer him, delighting him with your soft-spoken voice.
Dottore doesn't immediately fall in love with you, but he does become intrigued by you, somewhat like how a researcher would become enthralled by a rare specimen that only sometime emerged from its cave every full moon.
Unlike the most of his patients, Dottore is incredibly nice to you, legitimately assessing your condition accurately and prescribing the appropriate treatments. While Dottore does demonstrate some concern for your general well-being, he does have a nagging tendency of undercutting some of your treatments. It's just tinkering with the doses you're supposed to take by either adding too much or too little, nothing too drastic.
"Here. These are the medicines I'm recommending to you since they will alleviate your headaches. Too much..? No, it is the correct quantity. The other doctors must have completely misunderstood considering taking such a small amount is essentially worthless..."
Too much medicine would cause a lot of adverse effects, perhaps an increase in headaches and fever, leading you to come back to him within the next week. Too little however, doesn't do anything and doesn't even have an effect, negative or positive. After it becomes clear to you that the medicine was ineffective, you would return to his office and request for a new prescription. Basically all the tactics he can use to make sure you're back to him within a few weeks.
"Ah. So soon, my dear? Come sit down, and I'll be delighted to know what went wrong this time."
Other times, he would accompany you in conducting physical examinations, which would typically be handled by a nurse but he would venture in to assist you. Despite his unpredictable temperament, Dottore appears to be a somewhat capable doctor throughout the first half of the examination. But halfway through, his actions start to seem a little... off, and his touches are a little too persistent. Maybe you should retract the compliments you originally gave him.
Since he regards sexual activities as nothing more than a means of reproduction, Dottore does not conceive of himself as a particularly affectionate person or as the kind of man who craves physical contact all the time. However, he did make a few modifications to his perspective on the subject. Even while his continual need to touch you isn't entirely motivated by sexual aggravations or anything, it does feel slightly pleasurable when he runs his hands up your shoulders. His justification was that he wanted to avoid unintentionally tampering with your readings and needed to be certain that he was being accurate while taking your blood pressure.
Dottore found the examination to be more amusing than he had anticipated; for the first time in his life, he felt like a true doctor. Though he doesn't think he would have considered the assessment to be as interesting if he had been required to care for a patient other than you.
But listening to your heartbeat with a stethoscope was his favourite part. It was interesting to monitor how your pulse rate would spike after his hand inadvertently brushed very close to your chest or how his fingers would accidentally unlatch from the stethoscope and press onto your breast. It was noticeable that you were aware of the way his hands would brush up against you, but you were unwilling to confront him and instead chose to merely cringe slightly, forcing your lips into a thin line to stop yourself from saying anything you'll regret.
He must touch your chest in order to feel your breasts for any lumps that might be indicators of breast cancer, you probably don't want cancer right? Every doctor needs to touch his or her patient's breast; don't treat him like some sort of pervert. Ignore the fact that he would leave his hands on your moulds for far longer than was necessary, even giving it a quick squeeze and having the audacity to laugh.
"I apologise; I understand it is uncomfortable for me to be touching your breast, but it is necessary for the physical examination."
He will frequently make statements like this while grinning widely and without any apparent remorse or sign of sorrow within his face or voice. The pelvic exam, which includes examining the cervix, vagina, and vulva, is the other component of the physical examination, one that you often dread. It's not that you've never undergone a pelvic exam; nonetheless, the majority, if not all, of those exams were performed by female nurses or medical professionals. It's therefore unsettling to have this unusual man crouch down between your legs with a flashlight in his hand and gloved hands poised to pry open your hole.
"My dear patient, don't worry. There is no need to have your cute little head all screwed up because I am experienced with these types of examinations."
Dottore claims to be knowledgeable about this sort of thing, so you do not need fear, but in reality he isn't and hasn't fully comprehended the female anatomy outside of the textbook standpoint. Pelvic exams are typically only supposed to go on for a few minutes, but Dottore was clearly looking into you for far longer than that, his fingers fluttering at what appear to be random places, teasing and stroking your flesh. He would reel back and appear quite satisfied with what he accomplished after a few more moments of simple flicking and fondling with you before removing a metal hinge instrument from beneath the cabinet next to the bed.
"Regarding this, I'm certain you've already had a lot of experience. Please bear with me because it can ache just enough."
He will glide the instrument steadily into you as he watches your countenance change to one of pain as the metal surface of the device clings to the inside of your vagina and works its way through despite the dryness, a quiet moan escaping your lips as your face flushed in embarrassment at yourself for making such a noise. Even though Dottore knew that this process would be uncomfortable, he chose to wait a few seconds before expelling the instrument from you, seemingly interested in the way your expression was one of fear. He did this while monitoring how your face is visually relaxed and your tight grip on the chair loosened.
The following stage of the process would involve him physically inserting two fingers into you, certainly with lubricant on them, to make the process much more compelling for the both of you. His other fingers would be pressed against the outside of your lower abdomen while he noticed the way his long fingers curved into your cunt, causing you to gasp. Dottore had to examine the size and shape of your uterus and ovaries during this portion of the examination, noting any painful regions or strange growths.
What a good girl. So still, and motionless.
Although he did begin to daydream during the procedure, picturing his cock stuffing you while you urge him to go harder. Would his length be discernible through your lower abdomen as well? Would he be able to put pressure on your abdomen while feeling the contour of his own cock through your skin?
"That hurts, right? Do you mind if I exert more pressure here? Don't you feel a little intrigued about the small bump on your stomach as well? Why not try touching it too?"
It's possible that he'll have the chance to put that hypothesis to the test at some point.
Following the vaginal examination, he would stick a second gloved finger into your rectum to feel for any soreness, growths, or other anomalies. You've obviously never touched your rectum as frequently as you have your vagina. Not with the way you visibly winced when his finger pressed into your behind, a startled gasp departing your lips as he forced himself harder down the lower portion of the examination table, attempting to stop the expanding erection within his tight pants.
After being humiliated for yet another five minutes, Dottore at last rose from the table, reaching into the white coat's jacket to try and nudge the material forward and conceal his erection.
Let's just say Dottore had more fun with the physical exam than he originally thought. Despite this, he gave you the go-ahead to dress and told the receptionist that you needed to schedule another appointment. He claimed that he would have been delighted to assist, but that he had another emergency to attend to. He'll depart from the room, prompting you to struggle to get dressed on your wobbling legs and wondering why he was in such a hurry, since he did state that there were no other appointments beside you for today.
Dottore would race to the restroom, fumbling to undo his pants, and stroke at his erection, which was visibly red and painfully hard. His thoughts would still be coiled around the vivid image of your body, stroking up and down his cock as he recalled the feel of your tender breast, remembering your warm, snug pelvis, which twitched around his finger like a heartbeat. In a few minutes, he would start to spasm, hard enough for his sperm to shoot against the bathroom door, staining the floor in the process.
The assessment was certainly an entertaining experiment or well, experience.
So why not come back again?
He is always available to support since, after all, he is your doctor; a medical professional who will take excellent care of you. So do return? Or maybe he'll have to switch to more extensive techniques, one that will involve the more use of mechanical methods rather than a humane one.
Be sure to visit soon.

I genuinely want to see like, a corporate dissection of Spindlehorse when it inevitably goes bankrupt, I mean the allocation of funds alone must be horrendous.
For starters, they just finished the voiceovers for S2 like a few weeks ago, which is fucking ASTOUNDING because shows usually finish the voice work FAR before the animation stage. This means that VAs were having to voiceover sections that were already animated, which is incredibly abnormal for any show, even indie ones
and secondly, and arguably the most egregious, Viv has this bizarre need to have really expensive guest starts on the show and that's causing them to just hemorrhage money. Norman Reedus for starters is one of the most expensive talents available and undeniably the most expensive person on HB (which is why I think the reason he got recast as Striker was because they literally couldn’t continue to afford him). Jonathan Freeman doesn't have a lot of public estimates on what his going rates are, but the man was in Aladdin so he couldn't have been cheap. Alex Brightman is one of the highest paid actors in Broadway so he was definitely expensive. And ofc there's Vivs like 3-year long very public desire to have Al Yankovic in Hazbin to voice Lucifer, and he’s for sure not cheap.
Vivs incessant need to have famous people in her cast just for the sake of having famous people is running her projects into the ground, and its reflecting on the quality of the show. The past few episodes have noticeably decreased in quality, and I’m like 90% sure its because of Vivs spending
I sincerely hope that whatever's going on with Hazbin, A24 has someone specifically to tell Viv no to stupid financial decisions

Splatoon 3 Version 6.1 Patch Notes Breakdown
That time of the month again! Let's take a quick look at these together, and that part is actually important, because people have cross-referenced the Japanese and English patch notes and confirmed that there are several mistranslations in the latter, so stick with me as we roll through these!
This patch is heavily focused on balance changes, and outside of those, the only thing that isn't a bugfix is of course the Mincemeat Metalworks renovation. With that out of the way, let's look at the Main Weapon changes:
Tumblr media
N-Zap gets two more damage, which makes it combo better with other sources of damage like the splash damage from the '85's Suction Bomb. There seems to always be a completely unnecessary Shooter buff in every patch nowadays, and this is the one this time, but it's at least balanced out by the fact that this weapon is also getting nerfed further down the notes, but we'll get there.
Tumblr media
Dynamo Roller will now deal lethal damage in a wider spread than it did previously. Splat Roller got this buff a while ago and it was pretty good for it, so this is a definitive W for Dynamo mains everywhere.
Tumblr media
Flingza Roller gets the exact same buff, plus a buff that cuts 5 white ink frames off its' vertical flick. Some nice quality of life for sure.
Tumblr media
Inkbrush now moves faster, cheaper. Three percent doesn't sound like a lot, but I promise you that even such a small change is going to throw your aim off quite a bit, so get ready to get circles run around you in Clam Blitz even more than you already do.
Tumblr media
The Brella gets 13% better ink efficiency off its shots, and that's quite a lot! Brella likes to play the long game and draw out fights, and most builds for it run a lot of Ink Saver Main as a result, so this should give it some more ability flexibility.
Tumblr media
Undercover Brella can now... do full jumps while firing? I don't think this is a very impactful change, but it is neat, and I think if used properly could be a way to get more mileage out of your shield and avoid damage.
Tumblr media
This is a mistranslation!
The first change is actually the complete opposite of what it says in the patch notes. They did not reduce Squeezer's ink consumption when tap-firing, but increase it, making the cost tap-shots 9% more. It'll also paint slightly worse when holding down the firing button, and considering how this weapon has been utterly dominant at all levels of play both of these changes are fair.
Tumblr media
Ballpoint gets a small accuracy decrease in long-range mode, which frankly seems a bit uncalled for, because this weapon hasn't been on top of the metagame for a long time. At least it's also kind of a paint buff?
Tumblr media
And finally for Main Weapon changes, Stamper gets its charge slash paint cut by 10%. Compared to the changes this weapon has been getting in the past it's a bit of a slap on the wrist, but it does in fairness paint really well, and Neo Splatana Stamper does put out a lot of Crab Tanks, so this isn't an unjust change.
After that comes two Special changes, and these are very interesting:
Tumblr media
Wave Breaker will now immediately locate enemies upon being placed for a short while. They don't specify the range or time of the effect, but I have to imagine it'll be within the same area of effect as the Wave Breaker's Waves. Giving it an immediate effect is really cool to me, it makes me think of Splatoon 1's Echolocator, which Wave Breaker already kind of felt like a rework of to begin with.
Tumblr media
THIS IS A MISTRANSLATION TOO AND IT'S EVEN WORSE THAN THE LAST ONE
Again, this change is the complete opposite, reading the text you'd think this was a nerf to Ink Storm, but it's actually a buff, because it makes you heal faster in Kid Form when inside your own team's Ink Storms. This is essentially completely unprecedented, as we've never had anything that messes with the health regeneration system like this before, and I'm very curious to see how it shakes out.
And finally we have the Points-For-Special changes:
Tumblr media
Neo Sploosh, Forge Pro, Luna, Bamboozler, and Zink Mini all get their Points-For-Special cut by 10 (a change Forge has been begging for since it released, seriously starting it at 210p was completely unreasonable) while Slattershot, N-Zap '85 (here's that nerf I mentioned at the very top of the list), Tri-Slosher nouveau, and Heavy Edit Splatling get another 10p added to their Special charge.
Overall I think this is a pretty good patch that has some really interesting ideas in it, but there is also a very notable omission. They went after all of the most popular Tacticooler weapons, and increased their Special charge, except for Snipewriter 5H. Snipewriter has been skyrocketing in popularity in competitive player for its' ability to serve as paint support, long-range damage, and Tacticooler spammer, all at once, and it got completely overlooked here. I suspect that nanowrimo is coming early in the world of competitive Splatoon 3, because everyone is getting their pencils ready.

this isn’t nsfw (i hope that’s okay?) but i’m super super curious about your thoughts on this- what do you think a maiden/reader would have to do/be like in order to truly attract the proper attention of the dimi girls? i’m talkin, like, when you mention in requests cassandra truly trusting someone, enough so that she’ll bottom/sub- and also just like. the girls being IN LOVE with someone. what makes maiden/reader special enough that they don’t end up as dinner? for each sister, cuz i’m sure it totally differs among them
Of course that’s fine! Thank you for the request! :)
Masterlist
Bela
Catching her attention is difficult, she tends to not linger on the maidens too long
She is also the most “merciful” out of the three sisters however, decreasing your chances of becoming her dinner, if she doesn’t feel irritated
She doesn’t waste her time on romance, normally. She believes love is a weakness until she meets you
Being cared and praised is the go to for her attention. A dangerous game, however
A little boldness is almost necessary to woo this sister, if she hasn’t got her eyes on you already
If you bring her a tray of food as she overworks herself, she will not forget
Instead, find yourself promoted (or perhaps doomed?) to become her personal maid, a position not many are granted. It’s an excuse to learn more about you, really
Bela is very strict and entitled, knowing just what she wants. She needs someone competent, who will not add more troubles to her pile
Someone, caring, and comforting
She wants someone that stands out, not unlike her sisters
If you catch her attention before you catching hers, she will do her best to woo you through inviting commanding you to join her as she reads or even have you stand beside her at dinner time
Upon finding out more about you, she realizes how much she enjoys your company
She will ask more about you and tell you more of hers, complain to her sisters and the business
She definitely appreciates you listening, and will swoon if you try to help her in any way. Massages are her favorite way to relax, she is always tense
The idea of falling in love was foreign to her. How would Mother react? What about the business? Could she even keep you safe from her sisters? From herself?
Yet she craves your attention
She loves listening to you talk
She will likely not be the first to declare her love
What she loves the most about you? Your presence. It’s as if you help her feel calm magically
Cassandra
You might want to be careful around this one- or rather- not
She loves toying with the maidens, but none stand out
That is, until there is one that does not tremble in fear
To catch this one’s attention, you must stand out. Be bold, flirty, unrelenting or unbothered. The normal, terrified maidens that shrink in her presence bore her. She likes to be challenged
If she finds she can’t immediately scare you, you have her attention. It’s now her personal mission to make you tremble in fear
This ranks from jumping out at you to having you clean her bloody weapons, to even giving you an “innocent” tour of the basement
Upon spending more of her time with you, she finds you fascinating. She doesn’t care what your hobbies are, she likes to take an interest in them. She’s very, very curious
She will likely attempt to woo you first, but should you attempt it before her: she will attempt to make you stumble
She has a tough, Playgirl like facade, but she knows love well. It’s unknown to her, but catches her attention
Unlike her sisters, she doesn’t care for flowers
Want to know a way to catch her attention immediately?- take interest in HER. All of her
What’s her favorite weapon? What are her hunts like? How is it to be made of flies? What are her hobbies?
She will at times attempt to drag you to hunt with her, she thinks it’s quality time spent together
She will do the first step and kiss you. She isn’t one for words, but actions
In bed, she can be a switch, if you play your cards right
Cassandra is a brat at heart, and deeply concerned about who she opens up with. She doesn’t want to fall
Challenge her and dominate her shamelessly and she will give in quickly, eager for this
She keeps you at arm length for a while, but eventually opens up as you prove your love and, most of all, loyalty to her
She values this among all other: loyalty
It might be very useful to not be worried about the gore ;)
Daniela
Lovely, naive and romance-obsessed Daniela is easy to woo, but difficult to keep
She will love you as long as you entertain her
Catching her eye is easy- she is used to people falling for her, you are no different to her at the start
Be as romantic and cheesy as possible, it will have her swoon
Red roses? Flowers? Love letters? Poems? Cuddling before and after sex? She loves all of it and will demand all your attention
The more time you spend together however, the more attached she grows to you, not the romance
She will be as clingy still, even more so
Daniela believes she loves fast, but has a little of a temper. Be sure not to have her anger pointed towards you
Another challenge might be her family: Daniela is, after all, the youngest. Protected by both her sisters and mother alike
You will feel glances at the back of your head and threats spoken to you. They will lessen with time when your loyalty is proven to them as well as Daniela. They do not trust as easily as her
Daniela herself cares not for this. She thinks it’s adorable and funny how her family looks out for her
She loves to spend time together in the library, reading together, and is very curious about your hobbies
PS: if you’re naturally dominant, it will make her swoon even more. Generally, you can’t go wrong with treating her like a princess either- although she will be even more spoiled

I might probably be wrong, but I legit feel like YA's have become more one note ever since the genre became more mainstream. Not saying all modern YA is bad, or that all old YA is good, but if I look at some pre-mainstream popularity YA and post-popularity YA, especially recent years, it really feels like the amount of mainstream YA has definitely decreased in quality. Especially when it comes to trad publishing just going with what's safe, so they re-publish the same story by different authors.
--
Uh... I think I read a few YA novels in the 90s when they were forced on me, and they were teen problem novels that I never enjoyed.
So if you mean that the flood of no-good Hunger Games wannabes like Divergent were different from how "Young Adult" was being used long prior to the 00s /10s boom, I agree...
Everyone who wasn't into YA spent that whole era groaning and trying to avoid the ubiquity of some truly atrocious media and its rabid fans.
But why do I get the feeling you mean the godawful trash era of the boom was the good part?

A Scarf Askew
Tomorrow, I will have been knitting for exactly one month - and I have an update!
Yesterday, I finished her! A scarf unlike any other (that's for sure!). The colours were dictated by the BEAUTIFUL Bergere yarn I found in a charity shop, which was part of the fun! The plain green and purple were an online purchase to complement. I'd love to do this a couple more times and make scarves of different blues and pinks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Without a pattern, I cast on way too many stitches so ended up frogging the first six inches worth of rows - but I'm so glad I did, otherwise it would have been a monster. It looks a lot more sensible this size! The main challenges were working with such frizzy yarn (beautiful halo, though) and actually knitting in straight rectangles rather than whatever freeform, billowing nebula I ended up creating. My tension went wonky with the purple panel, but I simply stitched up the holes and you can't really tell unless you look close. I decided to add tassels into the mix so had to acquire a set of crochet hooks - but again, I'm so glad I bothered! They ended up being pretty fun once I got the hang of it!
Finally! I used a garment steamer for blocking - which made all the difference in the overall 'quality', if I may generously use that word. Crazy how much longer it grew though! Rougly 60 inches has blown to 88 inches! Clearly need to be more careful in the future if I don't want a jumper to look like I knitted it for a giant.
Ooh and - my partner, exited about a new gadget in the flat, broke the steamer after a single use when fiddling around, so I'm already in the market for a new one if anyone has any recs!
Overall, I'd say this was a success. It is definitely a functional scarf. You look at it and you think "that is a scarf!" It is in no way perfect, but I wore it out today and felt a million dollars because it was something I made and put hours into. I have no idea how long projects are meant to take for beginner-knitters with full time jobs and other hobbies, but I feel like this was pretty good going.
Currently, I've cast on practice yarn so I can improve stockinette, 1x1 and 2x2 rib stitch, and I'm itching to learn how to increase and decrease. It's freaking me out so much, and I just want to be able to do it! Not to be dramatic, but it feels like such a mountain to climb! I've bought a pattern for a hat (and a pattern for a jumper!) but I'm not starting either until I'm more confident with ribs and shaping.
So there we have it. First, chaos mitten. Now a scarf askew. I hope to be able to show you a hat that looks like a hat in the not too distant future! It comes with a bobble maker (!) so all being well, it could be pretty cute!

Rest my darling| fluff
——————————————————————————
*Authors note~ I do love fluffy Weems. I'd die for a hug right now to be held while I sleep sounds so amazing till the next time*
Prompt~ reader is not sleeping at all or if she does it's poor quality sleep. Being a very touch starved and reserved person she gets by hoping no one notices how dead on her feet she is. Larissa noticed and wants to help. Flufffy sleepy vibes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Squinting slightly at the big red block numbers that seeming taunted you, you sighed once more.  Two o'clock in the morning. God. This wasn't the first night or hell even the first week you were facing sleepless nights. No, this had been going on for months now. Either you got a few hours of poor quality sleep or you just didn't sleep. All you could do is lay in bed and stare into the black shadows that haunted your room.
Makeup was doing a marvellous job at hiding the dark circles underneath your eyes, the same very pair that were stinging and blood shot. In fact you had taken recently to wearing your long chocolate locks down allowing them to frame your face hoping to redirect the attention from your eyes to else where. Glasses were the next change. Your tired eyes needed the extra support these days so you often found yourself with the black rimmed pieces of glass on your face as your marked or planned lessons.  Only ever adorning them when you were alone. The headaches were excruciating. Your body desperately wanting to force you into sleep.
Your skin seemed to be paler these recent days. You blinked more and your concentration decreased massively. All things that a keen eye would pick up if they knew you well. However to your knowledge no one was watching you that closely. After all you prefer your own company more often than not so worrying over friends was something you didn't do. The students were too preoccupied with the usual teenage dramas and exams which is what you believe has allowed you to get away undetected with this for this long.
The shrill of the alarm broke you from another night of sleepless thoughts. You let a sigh and a roll of your eyes take over your body. It was so damn Frustrating. And if your honest did you really have the energy to get up and teach your drama lessons today? No you didn't. But laying in the bed unable to sleep wasn't appealing either. So with a grunt you dragged yourself out of bed and got ready for the day.
Now Larissa likes to pride herself on her observation skills. Of course she did. As years of being a misunderstood version of an outcast, she spent years in the shadows just watching. Now recently y/n had peaked the women's interest. Her behaviour was a little off these last few weeks which had caused her to observe you. However, Larissa couldn't crack what was causing the strange behaviour from y/n. Just waiting for someone to come to here so she could have a reason to check in.
You're lessons today seemed to drag on forever. Drama was the one passion you had for life. The ability to be anyone you wanted to be. To put the real Y/n aside and transform into someone else. A great way to deal with emotions and express yourself. It's one reason why you wished you had the ability of the principle. To be able to change, transform and create a new person. To escape. Instead you got stuck with the ability to feel emotions. Feeling everyone's emotions and reading their auras. The ability definitely aided your teaching.
"And this guys is why creative arts are so important. It's important to remember you are who you are and that's okay. You should be free to express yourself in any ways you deem fit." You finished declaring to your 5th years. Most of the students met you with smiles and of course Wednesday with her usual blank stare.
Claps sounded the drama hall catching your attention. "Ah! Principal Weems what a lovely surprise" you exclaimed plastering a small smile on your face and trying to use your normal tone not the one that had exhaustion dripping through it.
The bell screeched out causing all the 5th years to file out the hall. Their own private conversations filling the hall until you were left in a silence between you and your boss.  "I uh what can I do for you?" You murmured pacing around tidying mindlessly to look busy.
"Y/n, can we take this to my office? It would feel more" she trailed off searching for the right word, " appropriate" she finished off with a timid smile in your direction.
A small nod was all you could manage as you wordlessly followed behind the taller women as she lead the way. Panic rising in you, what would Larissa need? Did you do something wrong? Oh god were you getting fired? No you knew you were good at your job. The students loved your lessons. You knew that. So why this spontaneous meeting?  Your thoughts being cut off as you entered the office.
"Take a seat darling" she murmured and gestured to the sofa in her office in front of the fire. You did so wordlessly, fiddling with your fingers in your lap.  You gaze stayed cast downward as you waited for her to join you and start the conversation.  She did so taking in your reactions. You looked so small like this. And no that wasn't just because you were a measly five foot 4 inches whereas Larissa stood at a stunning six foot three inches.
"Darling?" She almost whispered not wanting to startle you. The term of endearment confusing you yet adding a small amount of comfort to your worries.
"Mmm?"
"Are you quite alright darling? You seem to be off recently." She queried concern dripping in her soft voice.
"I um um alright principle Weems, just a little tired" you murmured refusing to look up and meet her caring gaze.
"You can call me Larissa darling, would you like to share why you're tried?" She reached over to place a comforting hand on your thigh. Only you flinched away as if you had been burned. Not the reaction the blonde women wanted to cause. She quickly snatched her hand back and apologised immediately. "Oh y/n... I'm so sorry I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable darling."
A little sigh escaped you. The exhaustion weakening your resolve. Clearly Larissa knew something was up all continuing to hide it would achieve is more exhaustion. "I forgot what human contact felt like. I apologise Larissa, I uh can you just um never mind" you cut yourself off from your own sentence.
Luckily for you, Larissa seemed to follow your train of thought and willingly gathered you in her arms as if you were the most fragile diamond. Only then did the sobs wreck your exhausted frame. Tears silently streaming as you gasped for breaths. How embarrassing all because you were being held.
"Oh my darling, it's okay let it all out. It's okay you're safe with me." Larissa reassured bringing her hand up to stroke through your curls in a soothing manner. Just holding and soothing you until you were calmer. Only then did you whimper out a response to the older women. "I don't sleep well recently. It's because of the date. I uh I remember everything vividly. Even his emotions. It haunts me. It never goes away." You whimpered out moving to hide your face into her neck. "I'm tired l-Rissa so tired."
"Oh, I know my darling I know you are. Thank you for sharing this with me. It may not seem like much but it's a start. How can we try to help you sleep?"
"I don't feel safe sleep scared" you mumbled out incoherently. Your words tickling her neck.
"Because you're alone?" Her tone was soft as she tried to piece together the bits of information she could.  You nodded into her neck once more mumbling "he could come back ris I can't I no not again" despite how exhausted you were the panic is evident in your words.
A comfortable silence wrapped around you both, just sitting and processing every bit of information given. Larissa was the first one to break the silence "darling do you feel safe here?" A timid question that almost sounded unlike the principle herself. You nodded again not trusting yourself to speak.
Larissa adjusted your small frame so you were now sitting on her lap, hugging her like a koala bear. Instantly your head found its place in the crook of her neck. A hand gently rubbing your back and legs gently swaying side to side in a comforting rhythm. "Then my darling, you sleep. I'll watch over you and keep you safe. No one will hurt you darling. Just rest" she murmured into your hair.
You didn't know what it was that heightened your exhaustion. Maybe it was the scent of her or was it the soothing touches and rocking ? It didn't matter, just glad you were pulled into a slumber resting against the blonde women. Finally a safe place to rest. You trust Larissa and if she says no one will hurt you then no one will.
Larissa PoV
Her breathing slowed into a rhythmic pattern, soft little breaths tickling your neck as she rested. It must have been months since you had properly rested. Feeling a shiver run through your body I quickly wrapped my throw over your shoulders. Not wanting to disturb the slumber you so desperately needed I kicked off my heels and leant back against the arm of the sofa.
Callie my assistant, let her self in to the office only to be shot a sharp glare. "Principle Weems your -" her words died on her lips. The glare was a clear warning. Leave. Nothing would be disturbing you while you rested in my arms. No one was worth that.  Meetings could be rescheduled but you were a valued member of staff and your well-being is of upmost importance. A quick glance down to the sleeping form you were filled with relief that the younger women seemed to be in a relaxed slumber.  Confusingly, you felt an unexplainable protectiveness of y/n. Little did you know that would bloom into something beautiful in the upcoming months.
Word count ~ 1791
I like to re post this every now and again because it's good advice I frequently forget.
Also I post it in part because I'm laying in bed with Covid (for the first time) at the moment and eating as much fruit as I can to expedite recovery. I grabbed a banana and orange, ate the banana and asked myself if this was a good combo or not. Glad I checked, because it was not. The last thing I need is indigestion.
But because it's me, my main focus has been doubling down on nutrition and observing my own results. I was eating plant based before, but sometimes I went a little too hard on the peanut butter trail mix, breads, or other sweet treats.
My doctor said rest and hydrate, but I took it a step further and since testing positive have cut out wheat, sugar, and any kind of dairy or processed foods. I figure nothing that could make inflammation worse. I've been consuming tons of herbs like cinnamon, ginger, echinacea, and turmeric while eating fresh citrus fruits like lemon, orange, strawberry, and pineapple daily.
Now I did a bit of tooling about the internet to see if any studies had been done over the last four years regarding a plant based diet and it's effects on Covid. The results were hopeful.
I found one study that said,
"Merino et al revealed that healthy plant-based foods could decrease the risk and severity of COVID-19.21 In this large survey, it was shown that as the quality of the diet rises, the risk of disease COVID-19 (HR 0.91) and severe COVID-19 (HR 0.59) diminishes.
Which gave me hope so I kept digging.
Another one stated, "Compared with an omnivorous Western diet, plant-based diets containing mostly fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts and seeds, with restricted amounts of foods of animal origin, are associated with reduced risk and severity of COVID-19. "
And I can tell you that has been my experience thus far. I developed a fever that went away after 24 hours and didn't go over 100.4. My only other symptom has been a stuffy nose with sinus pressure. Im definitely tired and need to limit activity but I can still taste and smell, breathe through my nose a decent amount of the time, and I'm not coughing. I'm lucky in that I have time off from work and for that I am grateful, as rest is another key component.
And why would a plant based diet be so beneficial for mitigating Covid symptoms? Because, "plant-based dietary patterns are rich in antioxidants, phytosterols and polyphenols which positively affect several cell types implicated in immune function and exhibit direct antiviral properties."
The full study can be found if you pop this into Google::
Acosta-Navarro JC, Dias, LF, de Gouveia LAG et al. Vegetarian and plant based diets associated with lower incidence of COVID-19. BMJ Nutr Prev Health 2024:e000629. doi:10.1136/bmjnph-2023-000629
I was really scared at first and this information helped me feel more empowered in my health and recovery. It's not a substitute for any medical attention or prevention like vaccines, hand washing, and mask wearing- all things I was doing regularly prior to getting sick which may have also been variables in keeping my symptoms down. A little help goes a long way.
Has any other plant based person had a similar experience? Let me know.
Women of Xal II: Delayed Indefinitely
Tumblr media
(1 out of every 200 Women of Xal players unlocked this CG)
The team has discussed it further, and we have certainly come to the same, overwhelming agreement: we're shelfing the series. A long list of reasons can be found in this Tumblr post, but in short: To survive and even thrive, this series is not the way to go. I'm fighting debt to this day -- all to make sure the game's quality was as good as it was. So until the game is profitable and the fandom legitimately grows, or at the very least there's an investor with $50k to spend on a visual novel, it's financially and emotionally folly to fight against such a devastating upstream battle. So here's what we're going to do going forward...
Tumblr media
2024 Goals:
Remaking A traditional novel ("Mesto Accelerando: Encore")
Let the cofounder lead the next project (Non-Visual Novel)
Small practice projects with Unity/Unreal/Godot
Finish the artbook for Women of Xal I
Sharpen up my music skills
I have personally noted that an all PoC cast is overwhelmingly great and fun for my spirits, but objectively proven to chase away income I need to eat, get medical attention, and not stress loved ones. Lesson learned.
Tumblr media
What About (x) Project?!
AlrightEros: Backburner as it needs more income than we can spare at the moment. We do however see the potential in it from both a passionate and financial standpoint, however!
PT's DollMaker: We were putting it all together right around the time AI took over and decreased demand for commissioned art of actual effort everywhere. That's just a discouragement I have to get over and we'll try to release the app for it.
Xynthology: ...Did you know, that tabletop rules are harder to balance than one might think?! Costs may be the least of our concerns here. I'm still rebalancing nonsense to this day. This day!
Tumblr media
Definitely a "completely fallen off the horse" moment for me, but I do intend to get back on it with a clearer, stronger vision and the same ferocity that saw to the completion of "Women of Xal". I promise we'll keep providing unique, diverse characters that range from Xjena's chill vibes to Clanice's esoteric problems that I initially thought only I could relate to. But right now I really do need to sit down and figure out if the stories I want to tell -- the way I want to tell them -- is at all something the world will ever embrace. Because if it's not, I need to sort out how to proceed for a company dependent on the exact opposite.
Thanks for listening, and for always sticking around. <3 -John
Looking Back at My 2022 Goals: Leveling Up Mentally and Spiritually in 2023
Tumblr media
As 2022 comes to a close, take some time to reflect. Look back at the goals you set at the beginning of the year. How did you do? What are some things you wish you would've done differently?
My goals for this year were:
Tumblr media
I honestly didn't look back too much at this list throughout the year, but I can thankfully say many of my goals have organically been incorporated in my routines and daily life bit by bit as the year went on.
It doesn't matter if you started working towards your goals January 1st or December 1st, all that matters is that you had the discipline to start. To implement every single one of your goal's January 1st can be overwhelming to some, and discouraging when you fail to keep up the habits, which is why so many people drop their New Year's resolutions in the first 2-3 weeks. You don't have to sprint towards the finish line the second the new year begins. Be gentle with yourself. By implementing your goals slowly and gradually into you daily life, you are more likely to keep up with them.
One of my goals for 2022 was to do some form of joyful movement at least 5 days out of the week. I found pilates, stretching, and daily walks worked best for me rather than going to a gym. I want to be able to enjoy life freely for as long as possible and that means taking care of myself and my body. During the summer months, my 5am morning walks and pilates were Godsend. It required serious discipline to get to wake up so early, but it was so worth it! I feel so much stronger and energized! This is a habit I definitely want to carry into 2023. I wasn't consistent with my daily joyful movement it until May, and that's okay! Starting later is better than not starting at all.
Setting limits on social apps has really helped decrease my screen time. I've definitely noticed the less I spent online, the better I felt mentally and my mindset regarding online/media spaces has shifted drastically. I don't feel the need to be in the loop when it comes to the latest trends of what's "in" vs what's "out." No longer am I caught up in the happenings of celebrity and internet culture (the less you check into trending topics and gossip blurbs, you'll find yourself caring less and less about them, trust me). I noticed the more time I spent obsessing over social media and trying to fit into a specific aesthetic, the less I was able to truly be myself. Get off the internet and learn about yourself!! Forget about trends, what do you like to wear? What do you like to do? Don't let the internet fool you into behaving in a way that makes you feel artificial. Since I've learned this, life has become so much richer and simpler.
Quality over quantity has been a big theme for me this year. I wanted to apply this to my closet as well and create a capsule wardrobe filled with high quality pieces rather than fast fashion items. I've always been drawn neutral tones and earthy tones, but recently have developed a soft-spot for navy and burgundy. I've slowly been swapping out my polyester and acrylic items for pieces made of pure silk, linen, cotton, cashmere, and wool. I'm at a place now where I'd rather spend my money on one high quality basic that will last me years and years than numerous fast fashion items of equal monetary value.
Cooking and baking has always been a hobby of mine, but after some mental/health challenges, I found it hard to enjoying being in the kitchen. I don't remember the moment it all clicked, but the autumn months really helped me fall back in love with cooking. All the things I was doing to physically keep my body moving made me want to ensure I was fueling my body properly as well. I spent less time in grocery stores and more time at farmers markets talking to the farmers/vendors and learning about where the food I'm eating is actually coming from!! Organic produce, free-range eggs, grass-fed meats, locally made bread and locally harvested honey as much as possible. Cooking and baking things from scratch instead of buying it processed from the super market. Eating with the seasons. Making my first sourdough starter. Beginning with a few basic ingredients and witnessing something beautiful come into fruition from oven to plate. I'm so thankful I was able to discover an all-new joy for being in the kitchen this year, and I plan to continue to harness these skills in 2023.
I thank God for the way He has helped me grow in my faith this year. Spending time in His word daily. Praying to Him not just as part of my morning and nightly routine, but sometimes multiple times throughout my day just to chat or ask for guidance. Learning to put His will for my life above my own. Learning to trust Him with everything in my life and giving Him full control. Learning to serve others rather than always looking to be served. In the beginning of the year, my goal was to become "that girl," but now my goal is to become the woman of God the Lord wants me to be. I want to be a woman after His own heart. To spreads God's love with the world by being gentle, kind, wise, graceful, poised, soft-spoken, and selfless. I am in no way perfect, but I'm thankful for the growth I've seen this year and I thank God in advance for the work He will do in me this coming year.
I’m very glad Scooby-Doo has come up, it’s like my one thing (I definitely didn’t submit a Scrappy related hot take)
If your looking for Scooby-Doo crossovers I would like to direct your attention to the Scooby-Doo Movies (1972), which a series consisting of hour long episodes and celebrity guests. Some examples being:
The Harlem Globetrotters
The three stooges
Batman and Robin
Laurel and Hardy
Davy Jones
And more!
They later attempted to redo this format -but with shorter episodes- in Scooby-Doo and Guess who (2019).
Including guests like:
Sia (this was the first episode I saw of this series and made me immediately hate it)
The ghost of Abraham Lincoln
Weird Al (there were dinosaurs in this episode)
Ricky Gervais
And so on, I personally don’t think Be cool Scooby-Doo(2016) deserves the hate it gets when this show exists, and majorly sucks -at least in my opinion.
Also if you wanted to circle back to Kiss they were also in the Halloween episode of What’s new Scooby-Doo (2002), they didn’t have magic powers there though. Simple plan was also in one episode- Simple plan and the invisible man.
I’m pretty sure there have also been several WWE crossovers in the films.
In conclusion, I really like Scooby-Doo, it is very cool.
but, here's your take, while my brain tries to process everything you just had me read
HOT TAKE TOURNAMENT
PRE-PRELIMINARY #51
Tumblr media
Submission 376
Scrappy-Doo doesnt deserve the hate
He was literally a baby boy added to a show that was floundering in its formula and he added life to it. Any quality decrease after his initial introduction was already well on its way after a decade plus of the franchise. And most of the modern idea of scrappy is a misconception deliberately brought on by James Gunn's purposeful Assassination of the character in the 2002 movie, which is full of false assertions about the character intended to make him seem worse than he actually was. Also I hate to break it to yall but the whole "tin curry refused a role in the movie cause of scrappy" is straight up misinfo that James Gunn even confirmed fake.
Pre-preliminaries will be used to determine what qualifies as a hot take. Propaganda is encouraged!
Also, remember to reblog your favourite polls for exposure! (exposure like when your exposed to the fact that the KISS Scooby Doo crossover does actually exist, scarring you for life)
My detransition has opened my eyes to the horrors of the world in a way that is so exhausting to live with. Every day I see trans people ridiculing detransitioners, pretending that I wasn’t just like them a year ago. They insist “No my dysphoria is different! You were never trans! You were stupid and never understood our complexities!” because accepting that I am exactly like them and came from the exact same place and believed the exact same things threatens the belief system.
The horrible phrase “death before detransition” has an ironic for me twist now. If I didn’t detransition, I definitely would have died from complications from HRT, and that would have absolutely been preferable to broad swaths of the trans community. My death would definitely be supported by the community if it was “affirming” to me as a trans person, even if the procedures and hormones the trans community advocates for caused it.
I’m exhausted by people falling over themselves to ridicule detransitioners to maintain a kind of moral purity within the trans community rather than having basic empathy and understanding. Closing your eyes and ears won’t spare you.
The longer detransitioners are ridiculed for the effects of transition, more irrevocable health problems will grow in the community, significantly decreasing quality of life and sometimes ending it. The leaked WPATH files reveals so much, not least of all the development of cancers caused by hormone treatment.
HRT is not safe and the realization that the community would rather I die from it than discuss that was extremely disillusioning.
My world's main agriculture is farming but I'm wondering if that's truly viable in terrain that's not ideal for growing stuff. Though I am certainly having the world be advanced enough to have greenhouses and so on but nothing too fancy other than some rudimentary GMO. With greenhouses, I assume the majority of land could possibly be used - including desert/polar regions. Just as long as they can transport all their needed supplies.
Ebonwing: If so much of your terrain is unsuited to farming that they’d have to build greenhouses everywhere, why would the main agriculture be farming? In areas where farming crops isn’t feasible, people have traditionally found other ways of feeding themselves, often by having animal herds and maintaining diets based on meat and dairy.
Tex: Arable land depends on soil fertility. While it’s true that this is climate-dependent, there are, for example, plants that grow in both the Arctic and the desert. There is currently an interest in some farmers adopting no-till farming due to more research being conducted on soil microbiology (Nature portfolio).
Successful agriculture is heavily dependent upon the health of the soil and the greater biome. Greenhouses are a popular concept for alleviated perceived issues with the production of crops, but also have issues with decreased microbial diversity, something that plants need in order to be healthy (Legein et al.). Accordingly, this microbial diversity has a perceptible impact on human health (PDF Samiran &  van der Heijden).
Genetic engineering is a new field and has only recently been involved in agriculture, with selective breeding of animals and plants the predominant method of cultivating desired characteristics the typical preference of farmers, when they have not opted for domestication.
What are your world’s main goals for agricultural production? How many people are they feeding, how many animals are they feeding, and what is the general density of these populations? What does an ideal diet look like? Is the food mostly equivalent in quality and accessibility across all social strata, or are there visible disparities? What are their major obstacles in reaching these goals? Agriculture does have a side effect on the environment, particularly with the use of tilling and chemical applications - the natural biome is altered, and sometimes permanently. When over-used and improperly maintained, it can create inhospitable environments (Wikipedia).
Licorice: “Agriculture” derives from the Latin for “cultivation of fields”; “ager” is a field, and an ”agricola” is a farmer. So agriculture = farming. Agriculture is defined as “the practice or work of farming” by the Cambridge Online Dictionary; other dictionaries give a similar definition.
The first time I read your query, I thought you meant your world was one where little or none of the terrain was suitable for growing stuff. However, on a second reading, it seems your question is more along the lines of “how do the inhabitants of marginal land produce their food”? If that’s the case, then it sounds to me as if your world is a lot like Earth.
Human beings have settled in just about every environment on earth, adapting their lifestyles and diets to the local conditions. Some regions of earth have traditionally produced an abundance of food and been well suited to farming; others have not, and in those cases the indigenous people have generally relied on hunting and gathering for their food. Some places, like the Welsh Hills or the slopes of the Alps, are more suited to animal husbandry than to the cultivation of crops. And, of course, there was a time when the different regions and human societies of Earth each had their own unique food crops.
There’s been a lot of interest in greenhouse farming in the Arctic, but as far as I know it remains small-scale and somewhat experimental. That could change.
And of course the inhabitants of your world will be trading with each other. Regions that produce a lot of fish will salt it and trade it with regions that produce a lot of wine or spices. Tea can be exchanged for gold. Maybe potatoes are abundant but wheat is a luxury? And so on; it’s up to you to decide what your world’s most precious food commodities are..
oh, i got a good one: i take it you're a fan of FE4's gameplay. in that case, do you have a vision of anything you'd want changed in a remake on the mechanics side?
yes!
first off: i want horses to lose the benefit from roads. their movement is good enough as it is without being able to be buffed to an insane degree. the road speedup multiplier for infantry units should also be higher (maybe 0.55-0.6x movement cost? it gets weird at points because you might end up with infantry moving faster than cavalry on roads at some points with these multipliers, but since they're stuck to the roads rather than being able to run through fields, it's more of a restriction than a bonus even still.)
of course, the timing for certain side objectives (cough cough Bargain Band) should be altered if you do this. this would also give our poor fliers more of a niche, since as it is, the fact that they can't gain road bonuses basically makes them village bandit cleanup and child rescuing bots.
you could definitely successfully implement rescue in fe4 instead, but i think this comes to the issue where cavalry units might still be too centralizing unless you give fe5-level penalties for rescuing; and giving fe5-level penalties for rescuing incentivizes just not using the mechanic and tossing cavalry at all your problems instead.
a good thing that might be done to ameliorate their centralizing forces, incidentally, is to increase enemy density and quality. fe4 original flavor had to make do with a lot of autoleveled enemy units of the exact same classes and weaponry due to memory limitations; in a remake, you could make it so every group of enemies is similar to the group you face prior to heirhein, but with twice the number of enemy units- wielding mixed weaponry, with backline support in healers and ballisticians, etc. since cavalry units have worse statlines compared to footlocked units, but in general this comes into play in exactly one instance (the weissenritter), and we want to just increase the number of instances. our enemies may be underestimating us, but they aren't that incompetent. an exception is verdane, which should still just be axes and bows. they're the tutorial guys.
i don't want to implement trading, but i think that unarmed healers (and basically only them) tend to have serious issues getting the items they want unless you focus your thief on them or know ahead of time what to do. this is despite the fact that staves are not that centralizing in this game- the only particularly busted one is rescue, and even that is nowhere near warpskipping levels of broken. i think, since the only unarmed healers in the game are religious figures, allowing the "give gold" command to work on them from anyone (with the gloss of charitable donations) would do nicely.
speaking of the "give gold" command, it would be very beneficial to allow it to not give all of your gold to an allied unit. choosing multiples of 10k, i think (or all your gold if you happen to have less than that) would be ideal for a game which no longer has the snes's memory limitations.
(...speaking of the snes's memory limitations, why not properly implement the feature to dismount promoted mounted units for cool factor?)
as for weapon balance, it's mostly pretty OK, but some weight changes should be made. fire/thunder/wind should get the differentiation they get in later games (descending might order, thunder gets a little crit and wind gets a little more accuracy). dark and light magic being fairly heavy makes sense. sorry, deirdre, but your having absolutely godawful combat is lore accurate and doesn't cause you to be a liability. axes of course need to get their weight decreased- it should be at least a fleeting possibility that you could double with them, even if it's unusual.
i would hope it is patently obvious that holy weapons should not be altered in any way.
now, to map design. chapter 4 having it impossible to go to the latter half of the chapter with your unpromoted mounted units is a huge slap in the face. change that. you already had the thickets in chapter 1 change to normal forest- speaking of which, actually, thin out the fucking chapter 1 forest, it doesn't need to be that long- so have a bit of the mountain just be normal plains for you to traverse after the Annand Experience.
another fairly unpopular opinion of mine is that the chapter 7 desert is.... fine? you're not stuck in it for that long, and you don't need to take anyone but maybe seliph and a healer across it, if that. everyone else can move down to melgen while he's otherwise occupied. now, on the other hand, the chapter 5 desert is fucking stupid and it's no wonder that most people finish the chapter by poking the gelbenritter with erinys and having lewyn annihilate everything rather than actually taking their whole army to velthomer. absolutely a new path through the desert should open up after you seize phinora (you already speak to the village elder, surely he can give you directions), kaga is a god damn lunatic for this one. chapter 1 is also an unforgivable slog that could easily be fixed by just fucking taking away some of the trees. you can alternate them tree-plain-tree-plain and still have the effect of a giant fuckoff forest. or hell, have a route around the forest to the left open up after you get the Deirdre Moment. a lot of the unpleasant terrain in this game could be avoided by convenient new characters just telling you how to avoid it, but somehow this doesn't happen.
overall, with a few movement and enemy quality tweaks, along with a few QOL updates, fe4 could go from being The Game Of All Time to The Game Of All Time, Now Ft. A Larger Fun To Walking Simulator Ratio.
now as for changes i don't think that would be particularly useful but i want to see anyway: the possibility for critical hits even when your weapon isn't at 50 kills, but make them something like skill/4. speaking of that, why aren't the holy weapons all at 50+ kills already? if the count is maintained across generations for everything else, why aren't all the shots ullr took counted on my yewfelle? put them on there, it's always a good idea to make holy weapons more busted. give more random enemy units personal (non-class) skills to ruin the player's day. go random sword general with sol. fuck you.
oh yeah speaking of enemy general skills i'm going back on my word that these changes aren't particularly useful, and very unusually for me, saying that we should implement a change that would make the game slightly more normally balanced. kill full pavise. pavise cutting damage dealt in half was the best thing awakening ever did. it's fine for it to work against every weapon, but completely nullifying damage with an activation chance based on the user's level is stupid. loptous wishes it were you.
another change i'd like to make is making the arena about half as long (3-4 enemies) but making those enemies grant more gold/exp for using it. also, changing the chapter leveling curves in general so arena use isn't required for the highest rank (though idk if they'll keep the ranking system; this is the first remake of a game that had a proper one, and IS appears to be allergic to them nowadays.) you could optionally implement a limit on how many units can use the arena each map to incentivize solely using it to train up weak units, but idk. it's fun absolutely wrecking the arena, and would be less of a huge pain in the ass if it were three units long.
i'd like build and build growths to make a return, since engage seems to want to do that. it would help with some of the earlier weapon weight issues mentioned (esp. axes) but if you tweak weights instead it isn't super necessary.
oh yeah, make warp able to target green castles rather than just blue ones. sucks to make it optimal to get nordion captured so i can send everyone back there in the middle of ch2 instead of sending them all back to evans.
this ended up being a lot longer than i expected, but it's basically all tiny nitpicks. i think fe4's gameplay is really good for telling the story that it wants to, but some of the design decisions made within the game for memory reasons (i'm not exaggerating here by bringing this up so much- the game genuinely hits near the edge of the cartridge size, and project naga doublesizing it was absolutely the only thing that they could have done to fit the patch on there) or for bad decision reasons (kaga's loving marriage to movement restriction) make it less fun than it could be. a remake tweaking those and adding some later innovations in the fire emblem series could make it a game that i'd never want to stop playing, rather than one i have to take a couple weeks break from every time i finish it.
