The Justice League finds out about the Anti-Ecto Acts, and Batman is the driving force behind condemning them. He even goes so far as to summon popular ghost hero Phantom for advice, given that his son, Red Hood, would absolutely fall under those Acts. Phantom...tells him he's wrong.

Red Hood is 100%, completely and totally alive. Same soul, same body, sort of the same person. Only 'sort of' because people change as they grow, so obviously he isn't going to be the same person he was when he was fifteen.

There's not a trace of ecto in him, or in any of the Bats. None of them are even liminal.

Batman asks if he's sure. If he's really, really sure. Because ghosts run on emotions, and Red Hood came back extremely violent and irrational.

"Well yeah, of course he did," Phantom deadpans, and Batman suddenly feels very, very small under that glare. "He was murdered, unavenged, told that there was no way he was the same person when he came back pissed, and had his words as a victim ignored. I'd get violent too. Look, I gotta go, but thanks for getting the Acts removed."

(I think 5 and 1 are my favorite of the past episodes, though 6 infected me with the Shroud brainrot something fierce.) I just...ESPECIALLY love diasomnia. :') but there is room in my heart for all of these dweebs! like, who among us is not just as ride-or-die for Adeuce as they are for us.

that said, I don't really follow the other adaptations like the manga (aside from a dip-in just to see the new Yuus) or the novels, though I keep meaning to check them out! I do like seeing the differences between the different forms of media, and how certain things get adapted one way or another! but alas, time/a lack of accessibility stands in our way more often than not. :( someday...someday I will have time to consume all of the media...

#hi back for now bc it's fall break and I'm stuck on campus #trying not to complain about it but I've been having stomach issues for at least the past couple of weeks #it's been acting up since I got here but the past few weeks and specifically the past few days it's become a lot more intense #I made an appointment with the medical clinic here on campus and they're treating me with something for a possible stomach ulcer right now #I have a follow-up in a couple of weeks #I'm struggling to keep on top of all my thoughts and feelings and emotions right now too #which may be causing or compounding the stomach issues. honestly who knows. #all I know for sure rn is that I feel very tired and worn out despite it being fall break #and I wish I didn't feel this way #kinda sad and very tired #it's a perfect opportunity to catch up on school work that I've fallen behind on. and yet I feel completely unable to even think #about school. hhhhh. 🙃 #it's been such a hard year guys. and I don't want to complain or wallow but I wish I could just break down have a good cry #or a screaming fit if needed #just get it all out #and then maybe I'd be able to cope a little better #unfortunately I'm not sure that's how it works. so I guess I'm stuck feeling like this for now.

ㅤperhaps unsurprisingly, byan doesn't like the holidays — christmas in particular, as it's the most prominent and unavoidable one, and the one they have more experiences with. not growing up consistently celebrating the holiday past the age of four, they don't have any real positive attachment to it, and having it shoved so violently in their face each year, being surrounded by kids in school who are always so excited about it... it's always felt quite alienating. it's a very lonely time of year when everyone and everything around you is going on and on about family and you haven't got one.

although most years the only thing they've had to look forward to is the christmas dinner that the group homes they've been in have tried to provide, they have had a few experiences of what a more traditional celebration is like through foster homes they were living in during that time of year. the first one, when they were five, was... actually pretty okay. it was just them and their foster family, and they still remember having fun playing board games and watching movies, and how good the food at dinner was. they even got a couple of gifts from their foster parents. ...it was only the second christmas that they weren't celebrating with their first family, and they remember crying when those gifts were handed to them. another was when they were ten, with a foster family they hadn't been with for more than a few months. there was a lot of extended family in the house, none of whom they knew, and it was an incredibly overwhelming few days, during which they felt very much out of place. they didn't feel like they belonged and ended up spending most of their time hiding in the bedrooms to avoid the awkward conversations people would try to start with them so they didn't feel so left out. at one point, they remember sneaking out to go buy themself a hot chocolate with a bit of money they stole out of their foster brother's piggy bank to cheer themself up and to have a bit of quiet. no one noticed they were gone, and they weren't sure whether they were glad or disappointed.

at best, the holidays are an annoying time of year highlighted only by the two week break they get from school, and at worst, it's a reminder of all the things they've never had or the things that have been torn from them. even the positive memories they have have been soured by the way the kindness and the families didn't last, making it near impossible to look back on any of it fondly.

#the adoptive family they were with for their first four years did celebrate but they don't really remember much if anything from that time #so we're not counting those. ...outside of the way it upset them on that fifth year anyway. #i've had byan for 3 and a half years now and somehow this is the first year i've actually sat down & thought about them and the holidays #it's a very messy and unpleasant history. i know; who could have seen that coming? who could have possibly expected?? #they've had a couple other holiday experiences with foster families but these two are the ones that stand out the most to them #they're the experiences that stuck because of the emotional impacts both had on them #like they baaaarely remember anything about that fifth year but those couple things they do have been impossible to shake #...i'm losing my train of thought. but they've definitely taken out their anger on a few christmas displays in the past #when they've gotten REALLY fed up with the inescapability of it all #all of this to say....... they hate this time of year and tend to be grumpier and more of a problem than usual until early january #━━ ˟ ⊰ ✰ headcanon ⋮ danger in the fabric of this thing i made.

there's something to be said about the idea of headcanons, and of plastering bits you resonate with onto pre-written characters, in an effort to "see yourself" in them. it's not malicious at all, but sometimes I wonder what the whole purpose of it is.

if it's for some kind of representation, to see certain ideas or traits manifest in a story you like, i would understand but also tell you to just like....go read something else. instead of ordering a hawaiian pizza minus the pineapple, just order a ham and cheese pizza. if that makes sense. lots of people on here love to post all about their favorite stories with queer headcanons, but refuse to take the step outside their realm of comfort and read something that has those queer themes actually interwoven into the story.

other times, people claim to do it just to see themselves reflected more in their favorite characters. which feels equally as flimsy to me. if you can't emphasize or even find enjoyment in a story if the characters dont resemble you (or an idealized you) in some way, then. idk. maybe work on that or something

#thisisnt like. a mean targeted post im moreso just thinking about things. i do this myself sometimes lol im not immune #anyways sorry im stuck at home for 6 weeks so im gonna be posting nonsense like this #in reality none of this really matters too much at all #however as someone who used to be way into this shit when i was a teenager i wonder what kinda purpose it serves? other than the obvious #we're reaching a state online where fiction is restricted more and more to these headcanon-y fandom-like levels of nuance #which is in part due to how many people are just teenagers and dont tend to worry too much about metanarrative discussions #nor is that everyone's cup of tea in the first place #but over the past 5 or so years it feels like more and more people default to this method when it comes to any kind of storytelling #regardless of the initial values of the original media they're discussing. it all gets relegated to this fandom-o-vision #this isn't even tumblr-centric. it's very prevalent on here yes. but every other social media seems to be following in kind #perhaps not with the same exact methods. but the similar lack of nuance feels like its there too #i just worry sometimes. maybe it isnt that important. but. oh well #im gonna go make myself a delicious milkshake

It's interesting to me #ZEX /is/ definitely weird towards the Captain haha but past a certain point he really does only have so much power over him #And I just like it better when he guides him over trying to control him <3 Usually anyway lol - in this instance for sure #Their weird dynamic being a source of comfort and escape ♥ Of ZEX being gentle with him while still working to his own ends haha #ZEX is such an interesting character; he's hard to classify and I like that about him very much
