This Week in BL - Multiple Thrupples are Forming
June 2023 Wk 2
Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs. Organized by which ones (in each category) I’m enjoying most.
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series - Thai
Step By Step (Tues WeTV & Gaga) ep 8 of 10 - Emotional blackmail from the ex notwithstanding, I guess it’s Pat’s turn to break hearts. I have to say Up was really well cast in this part - extremely believable. Well done all around. Jeng is so smitten, so awkward, so cautious, yet so sharp when it comes to a seme confrontations. I LOVE how sensitive Jeng is to the fact that he has a one-sided crush but also deluded by how much he wants the fantasy of the relationship. The agonizing roller coaster we watch him go through in this ep did a lot of work to elevate and expand his character. (Oh hi Green!) Poor Pat: thinks he’s teasing his straight boss, is actually slow dancing with future husband. Happens to the best of us.
La Pluie (Sat iQIYI) ep 8 of 10 - Don’t kiss someone else. Just argh. Dumb plot divice. I expected better of you LP. Everyone is so overdramatic and overreacting. I wonder if (in addition to all of the other tropes this narrative is scrutinizing) it’s examining bisexual identity through Pat + his ex? Like, this episode is actually about trusting the bisexual to choose his gay lover when he has the so called “option of being normal.” That soulmate is an allegory for gayness & identity & choice (and whether we even have a choice in who we love and are attracted to) and the interplay all of this has with one's own perception of self and other's perception of you… Or am I giving it too much credit? Meanwhile... l flipping adore the love triangle twist, and really wonder if they’re gonna have the guts to take this aspect to its inevitable triangular conclusion. Such a good show.
Be My Favorite (Fri YouTube) ep 4 of 10? - Screw all y’all, I’m eloping with Pair & Max. We forming a thrupple and pretending Jittirain doesn’t exist. Trash watch here.
Luminous Solution (Sat Gaga) ep 4 of 6 - I love the high school boys so much it’s scary: flirting, biting, frankness, roughhousing + lap sitting! Also messy high school gay triangle. Gah. All of this for little-old me?! I was mad every time we jumped forward in time (to the adults) or whatever the hell is going on. Thank goodness this is only 6 eps.
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series - Not Thai
Love Tractor (Korea Weds iQIYI) eps 3-4 of 8 - I LOVE IT SO MUCH. IT IS EVERYTHING. SHUT UP I AM FERRIL FOR THE BEAUTIFUL CITY BOY & HIS YOUNG FARMER. Come on. Korea. Have mercy? Plus some language play? Slayed. Right... the episode; This show reminds me so much of a Korean style Restart After Come Back Home. I’m not even slightly mad about it. It’s the BL I didn’t even know to ask for. Soap opera tumble and baby in hospital is SUCH a princess moment and I am living for it. Although the reversal is even cuter, princess turns out to be a caring tsundere Dom. And then obligatory water-hose frolicking! Oh, stop, you. (Allegory much? i being to think hose spraying is just another way of BL saying... well... hose spraying) AND “there is only one bed but they slept together on the floor together anyway”. These boys are hitting all my favorite tropes. BL please never lose your sense of childish wonder. And... the hose spraying is nice too.
Tokyo in April AKA Shigatsu no Tokyo wa (Japan Thurs Gaga) ep 1 of 8 - Based on a NSFW yaoi, this is a reunion romance that takes place in an office. Look, this is a weird little 2nd chance at love that reminds me a bit of Our Dating Sim. But it’s more traditional yaoi office romance with evil boss and inter-departmental politics. The leads are cute childhood (almost) sweethearts and I adore it unreasonably already.
Vian the series (Vietnam YouTube ) ep 6 of 12 - Vertical video prod is stupid. I’m sorry young people. Stop it. BUT the cuddling is cute. Christ BV can kiss. Is there anyone he doesn’t have amazing chemistry with? Oh the sunshade trope I haven’t seen that one in forever. Also clearly his character has a type, and that type = ultra-bitch.
Stupid Genius (Vietnam Fri YouTube) ep 2 of 6 - It’s fine.
Naked Dinner AKA Zenra Meshi (Japan Fri Gaga) ep 9 of 12 - Oh dear. Baby is hurt and rejected. Faen fatal knows her competition is a boy, she also knows what jealousy looks like. But this baby has his own boy. This is all feeling rather Thai BL. There’s even an ep 11 of DOOM coming up next.
Tumblr media
It’s Airing But ...
House of Stars (Thai Mon iQIYI) 12 eps - I bounced at ep 3. Will binge if told it is worth it at end.
Stay (Pinoy YouTube) 7 eps - It’s mostly in English and set in LA so I’m not bothering but the first one did drop.
Ever After (Pinoy ????) - I got nothing.
Takumi-kun Series 6: Nagai Nagai Monogatari no Hajimari no Asa (Japan Sun ????) 10 eps - NO ONE ASKED FOR THIS and no, I have no idea where to get it, why would I? (Say it with me everyone: Oh Japan, must you?*)
Boys Love Omegaverse (Japan ????) - honestly tho? Who tf cares? You’ll still tell me if you find it, because inquiring minds... Irony of this airing at the same time as Takumi-kun. Full circle much, Japan?
Tumblr media
Ended This Week
Tin Tem Jai special showed up on Gaga as ep 11 & 12 under the original show. (Indebted to spies reporting in.) Also on YouTube. What was that I just watched? Did I watch something? Was there anything? I suppose the bathtub scene was cute. Subs are bonkers. Seriously. Do. Not. Bother.
Our Dining Table AKA Bokura no Shokutaku (Japan) - pay attention TTJ THIS is how you do a special. But I’m gonna do a series review, here ya go: I was always gonna love the show if they stuck to the manga (which is very dear to my heart). And they did, paralleling it almost exactly. It’s a quiet & cozy little parable of found family alleviating loneliness. Possibly too slow for some but definitely high up there for me with the best of what Japan can do (like Restart After Come Back Home), it’s only flaw (if I dare say such a thing) is that it is not really “romantic.” Lovely & sweet but the romance beats are being used to build a family relationship, not just couple intimacy, it’s OK with me, but not totally BL. 9/10

Next Week Looks Like This:
Tumblr media
Starting this Week
6/22 About Us but Not About Us (Pinoy movie from 2022 on Prime) - A professor grieving the loss of his partner meets an ambitious literature student.
6/24 Tie The Knot AKA Under the Same Sky (Pinoy movie on Prime) Trailer - I guess Prime is coming for our Pinoy BL? From OXIN Films (Rainbow Prince), announced for 2022 based on a true story, Briggs's family runs a bridal business but he has never had a chance to fall in love until he meets Shao, a groom to be.
6/24 Why You (Khmer BL ????) - Billed as a horror romance, not sure if this is a movie or a series or where it will air.
6/25 Dinosaur Love (Thai iQIYI) Trailer 5 eps - from Ultimate Troop about a uni student, Rak, whose partner cheats on him with Rak's best friend. This gives bad boy hazer Dino an opportunity to hit on Rak at last. From The Yearbook people so I will not watch this as it airs. After Remember Me? Never again with them.
2023 forthcoming BL master post (see comments, some are inaccurate, NOT KEPT UPDATED)

Freaky Friday (Steddie's Version) - chapter 4!!
Eddie Munson x Steve Harrington
Summary: Eddie has a conversation with Robin that makes him realize there's a lot more to Steve's life than he originally thought. Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Link to Ao3
Word Count: 3.2K, more chapters to come
Warnings: Enemies to lovers, slow burn, canon universe (more or less) set before season 4, body swap, they are idiots, ANGST, revenge (attempted, see: they are idiots), POV switching
A/N: Omg not updating has been agonizing for me but it's midterm season and I just spent the weekend in NYC where I saw MAYA HAWKE IN CONCERT (!!!) She is amazing we love her, this one's for you Maya <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Uhhhh…” Steve didn’t even know where to start with his explanation. He looked around at the students bustling through the halls. “Maybe we should -”
“Drama club room, let’s go.”
Dustin led Steve through the hallways of Hawkins High to the drama club room. Once inside, Steve noticed the way the Hellfire table was arranged, including Eddie’s throne at the end of it. Steve chuckled to himself, thinking it was absurd. He really loves this power trip, doesn’t he?
Curiosity tugged at him, though, and a few moments later he was sitting in said throne to test it out. You know, to see if it was as lush as it looked.
(It was)
“Damn, this thing is cozy,” Steve said, admiring the soft velvet on the arms.
“Watch it - if Eddie finds out you sat in his chair he’ll totally -”
“Technically I’m not sitting in the chair, he is,” Steve argued. “And he’s allowed to sit here whenever he wants, right? My actual ass is nowhere near this thing. It could be anywhere, actually. Maybe he got me arrested already or something -”
“Jesus, Steve - shut up about the chair and your ass and just tell me what happened already!” Dustin exclaimed, exasperated. “After I left. Then what?”
Steve recounted the story to the best of his ability. The bullies, the power plant, the lightning, the swap. He intentionally left out the shower thing, due to him and Eddie’s agreement. Thankfully, Steve had gotten pretty good at keeping secrets and pretending things never happened.
“So, yeah. I went to school and he’s been at work now for uhhh -” Steve looked at his watch to double check the time. “Two and a half hours, just about. If he even went to work, I mean. I don’t trust the guy.”
“So you’ve said. Multiple times,” Dustin deadpanned. Steve winced at how much his dislike for Eddie annoyed Dustin, but it’s just the way it was. Eddie was kind of an asshole to Steve.
“Sorry, I’m trying, man, but he just -”
“I know, it’s fine,” Dustin interrupted him. “Okay, so you swapped bodies. How do we get you to switch back?”
“If we knew that, we would have done it,” Steve said with a roll of his eyes.
“Okay, smartass,” Dustin replied. “So we look into when the next big storm is, and we get you guys back to the plant -”
“Woaaah, woah, woah,” Steve interjected. “You want us to get struck by lightning again? Dude, it like - it really sucked the first time.”
“So you just want to stay like this forever, then?”
“I’m just saying there’s gotta be other options,” Steve pleaded, desperate for Dustin to give him the real answer. The kid was smart. He’d figure something out. Preferably something immediate and painless.
“It’s just a theory,” Dustin replied. “Our first theory. It’s a start , Steve.”
“Fine,” he agreed. “So, we go track down a weatherman and ask him when we'll get lightning again or something?” Dustin sighed, squeezing his eyes tightly closed, then relaxed them.
“No, we don’t track down a weatherman. The weather is on the TV or in the paper, idiot.” Steve’s look of realization - raised eyebrows, mouth in an o-shape, slight nod - was one Dustin had seen several times on Steve’s face. It looked much different on Eddie’s. Foreign. Incorrect.
Weird.
“Oh, yeah that makes sense,” he replied.
“We’ll look up the weather later,” Dustin proposed. “But first, we’re going to the video store.”
-
Robin arrived at Family Video at 2:58pm - two minutes ahead of her shift. Eddie had been waiting patiently, adjusting to the boredom of it all, and finding joy in little things to pass the time. Keith had left around 2:30, but nobody had come in since then. He could have left too, but he didn’t. He considered it, but there was a nagging voice in the back of his head telling him to do the right thing. He hated that stupid voice. Eddie always felt like it didn’t matter whether he did the right or wrong thing, he’d always just get the short end of the stick either way. But, as much as he wanted to be the tough-as-nails asshole he presented himself as, and as much as he wanted to ruin Steve’s life, he knew deep down he wasn’t going to do anything. Eddie had ruined his own life. He knew what that felt like already, and he didn’t care to feel that downfall a second time.
So, a new tactic. He was going to be a good person. He was going to try to be a good person, anyway. ‘Kill them with kindness,’ right? He’d already proved that Steve sucked at his job, and that Eddie could do it better. What other ways could Eddie show Steve that he could be some preppy pretty-faced rich kid too, given the right resources? What if Eddie just…stole Steve’s life a little bit? Would that be so terrible?
“Hey,” Eddie said as Robin entered the store.
“Hey, Dingus.” She hardly looked at him as she sped past him to the back room. “You owe me for last night. That old guy we hate came in here and made me describe the plot of like ten different movies before settling on one again.” He followed her voice into the back room, where she dropped her backpack.
“Yikes,” he responded, even though Eddie would have probably been happy doing that, depending on the movies. Robin joined Eddie behind the counter a moment later.
“Okay, so - wait woah, ” she said once she looked at him for the first time. “Steve, your hair. What happened to it?”
“What do you mean?” Eddie knew exactly what she meant. It was frizzy and huge, with bits and pieces sticking up every which way. He looked like a mad scientist.
“You look like Doc Brown,” she said, echoing Eddie’s thoughts. He smirked. “And you’re smiling about it? Who are you and what have you done with Harrington?”
For a moment, Eddie thought the jig was up already regarding his identity. He’d barely said anything and she knew by the hair alone. Figures, he thought to himself.
He assumed she’d keep pestering him about it, but she dropped it immediately, to Eddie’s surprise. She started sorting the return bin, chattering away about her day at school.
“Oh, yeah. I heard Mrs. Lipton is a total hardass,” Eddie replied after she’d finished complaining about a class policy.
“Steve, you literally had her last year,” Robin countered. “Did you stay out all night again or something?”
“Yeah, something like that,” Eddie said. “Right, yeah. I remember now - Mrs. Lipton’s class. That was torture.”
“It’s probably worse than when we actually got tortured,” Robin remarked, so casually that Eddie thought it must have been a joke. He thought about how Steve and Robin had worked together at the mall, and guessed that was what she was referring to.
“Definitely.” He hoped a generic, non-committal response would suffice. Robin was cool, but sometimes he didn’t know how to talk to her because she was just as sarcastic as Eddie, with far less energy in the delivery. He had no idea when she was serious.
“Although, I just remembered the bonesaw,” she said as she continued to shuffle through tapes. “Actual torture was worse. But only by a little.” She smirked, so Eddie did the same, but holy fucking shit? What?
There wasn’t a single way Eddie could make sense of that, unless it was some weird long-running inside joke. It had to be that. Right?
Right?!
A customer came in, successfully distracting Eddie from his internal monologue for the time being.
“Hellooo, how can I help you?” he quickly asked, surprising himself at how well he’d adapted to the job. He finished handling the customer, intentionally asking Robin to ring them up so he could peer over her shoulder and double check how she used the system.
Yeah, he’d been doing it wrong. Ah well.
The customer left, and Robin sighed, searching for a new topic of conversation. She settled on -
“So, how’s Joanna?” She was leaning back on the counter, without a hint of jealousy on her face. Eddie wondered if she and Steve really were just friends, but he doubted it, for some reason. They seemed close, and kind of perfect for each other. They’d worked two jobs together, had weird inside jokes about torture, were brutally honest with each other…
It didn’t add up.
“She’s good. Really good,” Eddie answered, having no idea who Joanna was.
“Better than Maggie?” she asked. Eddie’s eyes widened. He knew Steve got around in high school, but he thought that after graduation he’d cooled things down. Especially after that Scoops Ahoy getup - Eddie hoped that Steve had lost his touch. He’d relished in the thought that Steve had peaked. But nope.
“I dunno,” Eddie answered, lost in thought. He kept looking at Robin’s reactions. She wasn’t fazed in the slightest talking about Steve’s sexcapades.
Robin was pretty. She was smart. Funny. Why wasn’t Steve going for her? Eddie couldn’t figure it out. At first he assumed Steve was leading her on, and that she had an unrequited crush on him that he held over her. But it didn’t seem that way, now that he was talking to her. Maybe they’d already had a history? Maybe they’d dated in the past and realized they were better as friends? But WHY -
“Steve, you’re so lucky,” Robin said with a sigh. “You’ve got all these beautiful girls at your fingertips, meanwhile I can’t even muster up the courage to look at Vicki for more than 5 seconds at a time or I feel like I’m gonna faint.” Eddie took in her words slowly, watching her as she hopped onto the counter and played around with the rings on her fingers. Eddie missed his own rings. He would have been fidgeting with them himself if he wasn’t occupying Steve’s ringless hands. “What?” she asked, after noticing him staring at her. Whoops.
“Uh, nothing,” Eddie replied. I wasn’t supposed to hear that. I’m not supposed to know this. He felt immediately guilty knowing Robin had come out to him basically without her consent. The ethics of it all were weird and complicated, but it still felt wrong. As she continued to talk about being put next to Vicki in the marching band and how excited she was for it, Eddie stared into the distance and tried not to let guilt eat away at him until he was hollow inside.
“You’re acting…weird. Is everything okay?” Her question snapped him out of his own thoughts once again, and he nodded, meekly. “Steve, I know something is wrong. Spill it.”
Eddie wasn’t sure why he directed the conversation where he did. He just figured that, if he was headed to hell anyway, he might as well commit to it. Time for some answers.
“Can we talk about the time we got…uh…tortured?” Robin’s face was curious at first, before it shifted into sincerity. She nodded.
“Yeah, we can. I just know we usually don’t mention it. Is that what’s going on today? Did you have another nightmare or something?”
God, their friendship was so precious it hurt. A half hour ago, Eddie would have been delighted to learn that Steve Harrington had run to his best friend about nightmares, but now it felt different.
“Mhm, yeah,” Eddie answered. “The, uh. The bonesaw.”
“Shit, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have brought it up,” Robin replied with guilt on her face. Oh, no. Now I’ve made her feel guilty when I’m the one at fault here. Shit. Balls. Abort!
“Not your fault,” Eddie said quickly. “I promise. Just. That’s a really crazy thing we went through, you know?”
“Yeah, absolutely,” she agreed. “I mean, we’ve been through a lot, you and me. Secret spy messages, evil Russians, giant monsters, girls with superpowers, -” Oh, she’s got to be kidding me. No. That’s not real. No way. “- Dustin calling his girlfriend ‘Suzypoo’,” she finished with a smile. He’d heard about ‘Suzypoo,’ and the name made him cringe every time. Eddie would have laughed, had his entire mind not just been blown.
Out of everyone at the school, Robin was one of the few who didn’t look down on Eddie. They didn’t talk much - only in passing, really - but she treated him like any other human being. And here, at Family Video, she was being incredibly kind to Steve. Eddie wasn’t sure if she would have treated Eddie the same, and now he desperately wanted to know.
Here’s the thing about Eddie - once he had a thought, it ached in him until he acted on it. It got him into plenty of trouble, but otherwise he just felt…itchy.
“Nah, you’re good,” he responded. I have to know. “Hey, so you know Eddie Munson?”
“Uhhh, yeah.” She was keeping up with his rapid switching of conversation topics with ease. “Why do you ask?”
“Just, uh. Just curious. Dustin talks about him all the time, you know.” She nodded in agreement. Eddie continued - he couldn’t seem to stop. “What do you think of the guy?” Robin was still unfazed by this line of questioning, somehow. Eddie felt a desperate urge to keep pressing until he felt resistance. The ache was insatiable.
“I think he’s - I guess I don’t really have an opinion?”
This shocked Eddie more than anything she’d said so far, including the torture thing somehow.
“You don’t have an opinion on him?”
“Yeah,” she confirmed with a shrug. “Like, he’s just a guy. We go to school together. I don’t really know him.”
Just a guy?! Eddie was offended for some reason. He’d never been referred to as just a guy before.
“You’re not, like, scared of him or - you don’t think he’s stupid, or a freak, or a druggie, or, like, a future serial killer? You don’t think he’s insane or brainwashing the youth into some kind of satanist cult? None of that?” Those were the kind of descriptors he’d heard his whole six years (and counting!) at Hawkins High. Just a guy?Fuck no.
“I never really bought into that,” Robin replied. “But it certainly sounds like you did.” She rolled her eyes. Oh my god, this is the coolest chick I’ve ever met. “Come on, Steve. I thought I knocked that bitchy judgmental shit out of you.” Please be my friend and not Harrington’s, I beg you.
“Old habits die hard,” Eddie responded. She still wasn’t fazed. One more question. “Okay, so like - hypothetically…” Robin huffed out a short laugh and turned to Eddie, waiting. “If we had never become friends, and we were all still in high school, who would you rather have been friends with? Me or Eddie?”
“This is about Dustin, isn’t it? Steve, for the last time, you don’t have to feel jealous or threatened by Eddie.” Wait, wait, wait. Hold the goddamn phone. Harrington is jealous of me??? He grinned, which probably made him look crazy, but he didn’t care. Steve, for whatever reason, was jealous of Eddie, and now he could die happy. “Dustin loves you, okay? You’ve saved his life - like, many times. Just because he has another older-brother figure at school doesn’t mean he forgot about you. I promise. ”
Well, that was a lot of information. He’d deal with it later, making a mental note to confront Steve about the torture and the monsters and the girl with superpowers and saving Dustin’s life the next time they saw each other. First, he had to get back to his initial point.
“Answer the question, Robin. Me or Eddie?” He could feel himself pushing his luck, going from annoying and quirky into rightfully suspicious territory. She groaned and rolled her eyes so hard she looked possessed.
“You are such a dumbass, Steve. A few years ago? Yeah, it probably would have been Eddie just because you were such a douchebag in Click’s class. But then you and I were brought together by the great powers of the universe, - or, Scoops Ahoy and the Russians, I guess - and I found out you’re actually my platonic soulmate, and I’m here with you, dingus. Not Eddie. Can we move on?”
Before Eddie could even process the irony of her comments (and how giddy her answer made him), the front door opened. The pair turned towards it, ready to handle whatever customers were coming in.
Eddie’s jaw dropped. He knew the people in front of him, and he had to say - he preferred the strangers. He was just getting a taste of this life, and he didn’t want it to end, yet.
“I honestly didn’t expect you actually to still be here,” Eddie watched himself say in the doorway.
“Okay, what is going on?” Robin asked. “Why wouldn’t Steve still be here? Am I being pranked or something? Steve, you know I hate -”
“That’s not Steve,” Dustin said, pointing at the man beside Robin. Her face contorted into confusion.
“What?!”
“You know?” Eddie asked Dustin, who nodded.
“He figured it out,” Steve added.
“Smart kid,” Eddie acknowledged.
“I mean, yeah,” Dustin replied. “But Steve is also a really bad actor.”
“Shocking,” Eddie said. Robin pressed her fingers to her temples.
“If someone doesn’t tell me what’s going on in the next ten seconds I swear to god I will -”
“Eddie and Steve swapped bodies,” Dustin explained, pointing at the two men.
There was a solid beat of heavy silence. Nobody knew what to say. Eddie finally settled on -
“Uh, yeah. That is in fact what happened.”
He looked at Robin’s astonished face. She didn’t even bother going through the denial phase of all this - if what she’d been saying was true, she probably had just learned to accept all batshit insanity. Then, Eddie realized that must have been why Steve had been so passive about the whole thing the night before. The bodyswap thing was weird and awful, but it wasn’t, you know, torture by Russians.
“So that’s why you were asking all those questions,” Robin deduced after a minute. “Wow. Wow, okay. But, like - oh my god.” Her expression twisted into pure fear. “Wait, but I told you -”
“I know,” Eddie said, his hands up in surrender. “I know, I’m sorry. I’m not gonna say anything, I promise.”
“What did she tell you?” Dustin asked, curiously. Eddie looked at Steve, who was also frozen. Eddie had to think fast.
“About, um. The monsters,” he said while flashing reassuring eyes at Robin. She relaxed ever so slightly.
“Yeah, sorry,” she said once she started breathing again. “I was telling Steve - I mean, I was telling him about - well, about what we went through over the summer, and I just -”
“That’s okay,” Dustin excused immediately. “Eddie isn’t going to tell anyone, right?”
“Cross my heart,” Eddie said, genuinely. Who the hell was he gonna tell, anyway? He briefly caught eyes with Robin once again, who stared at him tentatively. She was back to fidgeting with her rings, eyes darting from Eddie to Dustin to Steve and back again. “Promise.”
Her eyes found Eddie and stayed fixed on him long enough to accept his words as truth. Then, she nodded.

TOP 9 BOOKS
tagged : @hmsharmony ty jennifer this was SOOO hard oh my god like. genuinely agonized me for days to think about what to choose but it was SOOO fun tho <3 tagging : @rosesau | @evcndiaz | @pendrgcn | @gayarthur | @the-tenth-arcanum | @oretsev | @wherepoetsdie | @bellamyblakru | @ryekat & anyone else who wants to do it !!! rules : list your top 9 books obviously. i cheated a little and put series as as one option because that's just who i am as a person. most of these i chose at random from my 5 star reads from the past few years btw
1. percy jackson and the olympians (series) by rick riordan
i was never a big reader in elementary school—or at least not to the extent that my classmates had been. my sixth grade english class required us to bring a personal book from home for silent reading and i stole my brother's spine-cracked copies of pjo and brought them to class. i finished the whole series in less than a school week (i had to scramble to the library to pick up another series because the single novel should have lasted me at least three weeks). pjo literally kickstarted my love for reading as a hobby and i truly don't know how to state the importance it had on my little ten-year-old brain fr
2. on earth we're briefly gorgeous by ocean vuong
i have never read a book more beautiful in prose and so uncommonly human than this. there's just something so incredibly heartbreaking knowing this whole book is the narrator's letter to his mother who can't read! like what the fuck
3. alone with you in the ether by olivie blake
this came as a surprise to Me when i first read it. i meandered through the first quarter, loving the writing style but feeling disconnected from the characters until the Church Hand Scene™ and it was hook, line, and sinker at that point (i have since come to love the disconnectedness in subsequent rereads, knowing that the feeling was the Point). i have read this book four (4) times since i read it first last year. LAST YEAR!!! olivie has like... fundamentally altered my brain chemistry or something because i feel like everything i have written since having read this book has been somewhat influenced by it.
4. much ado about nothing by william shakespeare
what can i say! this is theeeeeee romcom ever. i have watched so many adaptations of this play, read it countless of times and can recite some iconic lines, and still the banter between benedick and beatrice is sooo elite. cannot be topped!!
5. a place for us by fatima farheen mirza
fun fact: seed rec'd this book to me and has been reccing it to anybody who would listen. the prose is so lush and melancholic. it's one of those books where nothing Really happens, but you feel Every Emotion Under The Sun and you're just like. altered by reading it
6. the song of achilles by madeline miller
obviously.... OBVIOUSLYYYYYYY this had to go here. if i had two nickels for every greek myth retelling i read during school that fundamentally changed me etc etc u get it. i read this as a junior in high school when we, yet again, had to bring a personal book to read durin class. i think at that point of my life, i've never read something that tragic yet so beautiful at the same time and now i am always looking at the beautiful and tragic in media. so! there u go! brain cells rewired and whatnot!
7. the grisha trilogy by leigh bardugo
this is funny because i . technically did not rate any of these books 5 stars i'm sobbing. but like, considering the fact that my url is what it is and the way i always have them in the back of my mind, it's no wonder that i put them here. i have such an odd attachment to these books and these characters. i had copies of these books since their release but didn't touch them until ... before the sab tv release which is so fucking funny. like i don't know what i would be like if i read this as a t(w)een. i would've been so fucking insufferable ngl
8. when my brother was an aztec by natalie diaz
i actually read this for an assignment and had to write a report on it and i had SO much fun doing it. diaz plays a lot with hunger and her imagery is literally unmatched. i think about the way she contructs sentences and am filled with such envy. my beginning sentence for my paper was a nod to her style (though i failed miserably). it was: "in a paradoxical sleight of hand, hunger feeds in natalie diaz's debut." she is just. so fucking good at words i need to CHOMP on it
9. sharp objects by gillian flynn
you know the thing where you see a really popular author for a really long time and they have their work adapted to the screen and it's so good but you still haven't read their actual writing? yeah, that was me with gillian flynn (specifically about gone girl). i read gone girl, i read sharp objects, i read her short story the grownup, i'm currently reading the last novel of hers that i haven't read, dark places, and flynn is just so... incredibly good at constructing harrowing stories. it's no wonder why all three of her novels got adapted to the screen! her prose is so grounded. vivid. there's this ease to her writing that, whenever i concurrently read another novel, i always find the other piece to be lacking. i slink back to flynn's prose and immerse myself in her awful, human worlds.

I am really sorry I know I promised you a mask shenanigans piece from my series a few days after your b-day but I am *still* sick (and hating every second of it)
It is no where near ready but have a sneek peak!
“So what are we looking at here, any lingering effects from the tail?” Sky pragmatically asked.
Before Legend could answer his face did a twist and his tail started to separate back into legs. Hyrule pulled him into his lap and Legend hid his face in his stomach, whining lowly in pain even as Sky turned pale from all of the bone breaking sounds coming from the veteran. Wild’s ear turned towards them and he hissed in sympathy.
“Guess it’s my turn to morph after that. I don’t know about you two but I'm not making him walk after that.” He mildly said.
“You have a morph item too?” Sky asked, interested to learn more about Wild’s items, and trying to ignore the wheezed whimpers coming from the vet.
Wild nodded “I have several” he spoke his voice doing the usual crackling whenever he had to use his voice. “Leg?” he then asked Legend waiting for his groan before he continued “we have a few options. I have a lynel and a moblin mask. Do you want a horseback ride on the lynel or a front carry with the moblin?”
“Moblin” Legend managed between pained whimpers, knowing that a horseback-like ride would be agony on his hips.
“Why didn’t you do this with Wars back in the desert?” Hyrule asked curiously.
Wild gave a sheepish smile "I kinda forgot I had them? And I doubt I would have fit in those halls, never mind the sand. There’s a reason there’s no Lynels or Moblins in the desert” (a/n real answer, I hadn’t made the Mask series yet when I wrote that)
Sky took over watching the river as Wild grabbed the slate and took out one of the bolts of sturdier fabric, he just hoped he remembered how [hateno villager lady, one of the gossiping ones maybe] had swaddled her baby to her chest the few times he’d watched her do it.
Hyrule pressed one his hands a bit firmer on Legend’s shoulder as he felt his tunic wet a little even as he watched the forest for anything approaching. A few more agonized breaths later Legend’s tail had finished changing back into legs, though they appeared swollen to Sky’s eye.
Hyrule bent over Legend and murmured something in his ear, then at Legends nod, he drew out a familiar vial and syringe from his bag. Wild quickly handed him a leftover bit of sushi, knowing from both himself and Wars that the Lavender stayed down better when taken with food. Then after that was down Legend slumped back into Hyrule’s lap. Apparently in enough pain that he didn’t care at all.
“Your change is pain less right?” Sky asked Wild even as he was still scanning their surroundings.
Wild nodded and put his own moblin mask on, his own change painless and swift. Then working together they managed to strap Legend to Wild’s chest so that his head could lean on one shoulder but his legs could stay together, basically a bridal carry but leaving Wild’s arms free, though Legend had pressed his chest against Wild’s causing his legs to turn a little too. It did let them tighten the fabric more though so it was fine. It wasn’t without a few hitched breaths and pained groans but they got him situated.
Right after this they walk (or in Wilds case amble) over to the others only to have Time have a *blinks* moment and should he be alarmed? Cause Wars and 4 are out and Twi is stuck as a wolf....
OMMMMMMG this is so GOOD! Thank you so much for this soup!

Hey,
So, I’m listening to your IBFIBG playlist (while reading the fic of course ❤️) and suddenly the song: Kick, by Greta Stanley begins to play and it made me wonder if you got the title for this fic from the lyrics?
This is the first time I listened to this song and I really like it, it brings a deeper feeling when I’m reading the way you write Slytherin Lily, and it’s like this song is a bridge that connects the emotions that Lily feels throughout her time at Hogwarts with the happiness that she will get at the end ( yes… that means I trust you even if you have no remorse with hurting Lily 🥹🥺🥹 ).
Also, the song: Something I Said, by The Sonder Bombs, blended well with chapter 4 (a few more chapters left until I finish reading it 😔 💔😒 ❤️‍🩹😭) for me it does a great job with emphasizing the impact of Lily and James’ estrangement during their time at school. James wondering where everything went wrong between them and not knowing if she’ll speak to him again 🥺.
The manner in which you bring so much emotion into this story is my absolute favorite part. I’m always on the edge of my seat, whenever I click “Next Chapter”. Basically what I want and need you to know is that your writing is a gift and that I appreciate all the effort that you’ve made into writing this fic (along with your others, especially the micros!)
I hope your having a great day/evening (also I hope you were safe while the hail was coming down in your city )
As always thank you for sharing your writing!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Nena! 💕 You are the first person to come to me with the connection between the playlist and the title, and you are absolutely correct!
When I was trying to figure out a title for this fic (it existed in my drafts as "Twinkle Lights" forever—the song that inspired a lot of events in the fic) I definitely dove into the lyrics of the songs from the playlist since I felt that they matched the tone of the story so well. I agonized over it and actually made banners with a few other options before deciding on i'll be fine, i'll be good. I'm glad that the sliver of hope shines through even in the earlier years (and thank you for having faith that the ending won't be all doom and gloom!😉)
I love your take on Something I Said from James' POV! When building the playlist, I was very much doing it from Lily's mindset (and for this song in particular lining up with the end of 7th year and that kind of repetitive spiral of "I'll fuck up again") but it works so well for James because of all the reasons you've pointed out! And I love that it's an example of both of them kind of feeling that sense of worry and hopelessness in parallel with each other 🥲
Thank you so so so much for all your kind words, on here AND on ao3! I hope you know how much I appreciate YOU 💕. As for my night...hoping to bang out another jilytober prompt (🤞🏼...if I can stop outlining this regency fic). We were luckily spared any damage in the hailstorm, thank you!

swtor asks: 46, 39, 43, 22, 26
Woe, more swtor asks be upon us! I had to rotate some of these overnight, lol.
22. One feature not in-game that you'd love to see?
Cheating, I'm giving you two because I wrote a big paragraph about one and then there's also: I'd kill for a playable tech-based sword wielding-class. The fact that only my Force users can use the cool swords and whatnot, but at the expense of robbing them of lightsabers while there's npcs running around swinging vibroswords is a bit of a crime, tbh.
Anyway, it'd be fucking awesome and I'd actually give Tyr a second combat style for it because I think that'd be so hot for him. How much I'd actually play it instead of Operative is maybe a different story because I'm a little stealth princess, but hey, we're talking about options here, lol.
Anyway, on a slightly more... fleshed out note? This gets long quickly, let me put a cut here.
SO. Okay, this may exist and I’m just blind to it because I don’t generally do group or raid content of any kind [hamster peace sign meme here], but FFXIV has something called Party Finder which is sort of… if a group finder and a message board? It’s got sections for dungeons [standard 4 person party composition], trials [8 players], alliances [24 player encounters], etc. XIV players generally use this to build parties for current, on-level higher difficulty content such as extremes or savage raids rather than using the random matchmaker ie group finder equivalent that'd just pitch you into a queue, but it can also be used to form ‘premade’ groups to clear older content either synced [level/abilities adjusted back to release-era] or to overlevel the ever-loving shit out of some poor lvl 60 or 70 boss and just take their lunch money.
It’s a really nice system to even know what content is out there and has several filters/status settings for party conditions like syncing or priorities (are you looking for a learning party focused on clearing at all or doing several preferably quick, clean kills in succession for looting purposes, etc) and you can search by roles/jobs in need. In XIV, I’ve cleared most of the higher difficulty content I’ve seen via Party Finder groups; not all friends want to do the same content/same level of content at the same time, schedules don’t line up, etc., or guilds/free companies just be intimidating, lol. Never fear! Party Finder is here.
Something about the systemic nature of it makes it less intimidating in my brain, too, than like, random shouts on the fleet or whatever to fill groups. Probably the added context of party descriptions and objective labels. If you don't get what they put on the tin, then someone labeled their party finder incorrectly, but it's meant to give you an idea of what you're getting into before you commit and we do love to see that.
26. Weapon of choice?
I agonized over this one, lol. Picking just one was a tricky endeavor because I've fallen into the rabbit hole of personalizing sets down to weapons for different characters, so I have a handful of favorites I've nominated for mention.
I recently got the Frontiersman's Blaster Rifle for Len (I've been eyeing it for probably a month trying to figure out who/which outfit to put it on), Rhyst's most prominent is probably the Inscrutable Dualsaber with... I think a smoky amber color crystal? Oli has the EE-2 Blaster Pistol (I like the blue lights). Nikihlus has the Zakuulan Exile's Sniper Rifle, possibly with a red color crystal, I don't remember if I modded it at all, but the extra shing of the blade attachment when you draw it is everything to me. Annnd Barreth, one of my Consulars, got Vengeance's Unsealed Lightsaber that I have her wield a pair of with a green indestructible crystal.
39. Single saber, twin sabers, or dual sabers?
Hmmm… contextualized as in like, what combat style I prefer, I actually… really like Juggernaut more than Marauder?
Anyway, my OG Consular has a dualsaber and I’ll live and die by the fact that dualsabers kick ass. They’re so cool. Particularly when [maybe cheating] you can, like, detach them and now you have TWO laser swords? [I made his second combat style Sentinel to appease the brain goblins about this.] Adaptability. Cool rating. Really beautiful designs.
Also because Shadows and Assassins have stealth and I am, again, a pretty, pretty stealth princess. Bonus objectives for slaughtering rows and rows of enemies? Don’t know her.
43. Favorite operation?
I've yet to actually do operations because I'm a bit of a scaredy-cat. I know, doesn't translate when I've done 8 man extremes with glee in FFXIV, but I have definitely backed off raiding and gearing related grinds since being in college. They can be pretty involved and I just do not always have the spoons left over to get into performance like that.
I've enjoyed it in XIV though, so I'd be down for giving it a whirl sometime, maybe over the summer when I won't have classes. Work and class schedules kinda also limit my time, so it's a bit intimidating to commit to progression schedules within everything.
46. What do you think of the world events so far?
Oscillating between the interpretation of “what in-game events do you like” and “what do you think of the story,” but I think the latter is more fun and has more meat on the bone.
So! First of all, I am absolutely a story gremlin. I absolutely got into SWTOR primarily for the story and whatever it is or isn’t as a MMO is whatever it is or isn’t. That said, I don’t know why I didn’t expect it to grip me and sink into any little porous opening in my being that it could find, but I’ve been playing for over a year now and it has… done that. I think it’s safe to say that it’s taken over as my primary gaming choice by now, lol.
I have my least favorites among the class stories, for sure, but I’d agree with the consensus that, generally, they’re all good. They’re all good at something. Whatever I dislike about them is more-so down to personal tastes and preferences than jarring faults in the story.
And it’s definitely my favorite way to engage with Star Wars. I was never particularly in to Star Wars - I could enjoy it, I could leave it. I have bones to pick with its consistent dedication to binary and that’s a gripe I could agree with even inside of SWTOR. But I do love the way SWTOR engages with the universe - allows me to engage with the universe. Several of the class stories are not what I’d define as the general fare of Star Wars, or there’s ways to play them that inverse, twist, or otherwise do something cool with something that the movies might not have - that wasn’t the story the movies wanted to tell or what have you.
Trying to pin down the timeline hurts my brain. I hate math as a general rule and I dislike trying to riddle out certainties from conflicting or non-existent information when it comes to timelines, lol, but that’s not a uniquely SWTOR problem. xD
Ultimately, I started playing for the story - I’m still here because I’m invested in the story. I’m invested in my characters and the npcs and companions in a way I fell in love with in my first Bioware experiences in Dragon Age and Mass Effect. The dialogue options - particularly those that are voiced - add such. Chef’s kiss, y’know? It’s a whole different way to engage with a game  and really be a part of it when I can reflect a character’s way of thinking inside of a game like that.
Star Wars as a whole has always been a sort of odd relationship for me in that I have plenty of bigger gripes with what it does or how it does overall, but the universe is full of such potential. I still love some of the potential, some of the pieces of it. I am eager to see what comes of the saboteur options that started with Jedi Under Siege - my main being an Imperial Agent that took the SIS route definitely factors into that, lol.
Something about how the story is set up and how it plays has just… really got me. To describe it kind of feels almost diminishing and it’s difficult, but, in short, I guess I’ve loved the way I can engage with it and the way I can return to it. The many, many possibilities packed into just the class stories alone is so much to explore and it’s so, so fun to get into a character’s headspace and really figure out how that affects everything they see and take forward with them into the expansion content. It’s changes and nuance I can reflect as well as expand upon in writing or headcanons or what have you and it’s just… been a whole lot of fun. Whatever does come of it, I think I’ve found another one of those pieces of media, the kind of ocs that’ll stick with me for years to come and that will always be some part of me and what brings me joy to remember.
Anyway: my favorite of the in-game events that I’ve done so far is Bounty Contracts Week. I have fun with the intro and it’s a nice simple daily rotation.

Ask Game!
2. What are everyone's fashion tastes?
4. Who has the weirdest music taste?
8. What was the discovery process like for you (only if comfortable)?
13. Who's the most outdoorsy, if anyone? Who likes to stay inside the most, if anyone?
-Petrichor/Telmar/Mhedaeve
Thanks for the ask!!
2. What are everyone's fashion tastes?
Well, overall we try to keep to casual fashion for day-to-day life, but if we had the opportunity to branch out to individual fashion tastes, we definitely would. There's those like Tana and Kyou who prefer a more punkish fashion, those like Apollo who prefer a more formal look, those like Tempo who would probably wear cloaks if he could, those like Nicky who really like lolita style... We're all over the place, lol.
4. Who has the weirdest music taste?
Honestly, we're not sure. But among those in front, we're voting Tana because he likes this one pop song that the rest of us are kind of "meh" about.
8. What was the discovery process like for you (only if comfortable)?
We're gonna give the same disclaimer we always try to give when talking about our syscovery: the story of how we found out about being a system will vary depending on who you ask. It was not a one-and-done deal; with many sidesystems and so many members, we all have our own story of finding out we're a system, from simply being told and accepting it to being in agonized denial for months. Some of us are still in the dark. That said, here's a simplified version of the tale we usually tell:
Before we knew much of anything about plurality, Jay figured out that he wasn't alone in the body, and that someone else was trying to mimic how he acted. That person was Charles, aka CJay, and together they started to piece together that we were a system. From there, they reached out to others in the system, oversaw the construction of an innerworld, and eventually decided to reveal everything they knew to our host at the time.
It... didn't go very well. They freaked out over it and struggled with off-and-on denial for months, during which time we found we were wrong about a lot of initial guesses about our system. I mean, wow, it's a lot bigger than we thought it was, for one. But they eventually came to accept it, we worked some things out in the process, and even marked off a day where we began being open as a (questioning) system as our "Syscovery Anniversary."
This is the syscovery story of the Gift Basket Sidesystem. Other sidesystems have their own stories... I think the Partridge Sidesystem figured it out due to some train shenanigans? I'm not sure how it happened, despite them trying to tell the tale once... All we're sure of is that they knew before the Gift Basket did. And as for Camp Festival, they found out when one of their members came to the front for the first time! So, there you have it.
13. Who's the most outdoorsy, if anyone? Who likes to stay inside the most, if anyone?
Hm... Good question. Daylily might be our most outdoorsy member. Or perhaps Quandary. I think a lot of us would like to spend more time in nature, to be honest, but we don't have a lot of options where we live. Most of us just stay inside, whether at our house or on an outing.

๛Struggling
Tumblr media
Gif by @minyoongihoseok
Pairing: Poly!BTS x girlfriend!reader
Warnings: hardcore fluff, slight swearing
Words: 3400+
๛匕he one where she struggles with money∙ꨄ
"What do you mean, you can't pay me this month?" You asked angrily, as you drove your hands through your hair.
"I am sorry, but what should I do? Rents are high these days. If I don't pay..." Your boss tried to defended himself with the same excuses he had given you before.
"Rents are hight? Are you serious right now?" You interrupted him quickly, getting angrier with every word he said. "What do you think I pay my rent with? Paperclips and stones? I need this money or else I have to quit my apartment. We have a contract. You have to pay me, please!"
Times were hard these days. The pandemic had hit the country hard, but aftermath was even worse. Most people were still too afraid to go out onto the streets, rather staying home and shopping online for everything, which causes you a big problem.
For years you had worked in a small bakery, that was known for their extravagant pastries and specialities. The pay wasn't much, but you loved your creative job.
Seeing people smiling when they see their wedding cake for the first time, was one of the best thing coming along with you job, but with no weddings allowed, there was no one to buy those expensive cakes. And the few people buying small cupcakes wasn't enough for keeping the business alive.
Of course you knew that your boss's hands were tight, as well as yours. He had to pay his rent, but so did you.
"I am so sorry." He said again, sounding almost sad. "But I can't give you this money. We made almost zero sales this month. My pockets are empty. I already need to take my own, private money to save the shop, or else I can close next month."
You closed your eyes, as your hands were gripping the armrest of the chair you were sitting on. You weren't the type to yell or scream at people when things didn't go the way you like it, but this time, you just wished to yell out all your frustration at him.
Everything came together at this point, which made it hard for you to keep calm.
You hadn't seen your boyfriends in over 3 weeks, because they were stuck in quarantine at home after coming back from a project filming abroad.
Then, your period had started unannounced this morning, causing you a ruined trouser and cramps, along with a heavy headache.
And now it seemed like you even would be homeless next month, because you weren't able to afford your rent.
You pressed you eyes closer together, trying to hold back the swelling tears.
"Maybe you have someone who could borrow...." You boss began again, but you didn't want to head what he was about to say.
Making depts was the last thing you wanted to make. You mother had always raised you to earn your own money, and pay for the thing you want to have yourself.
Asking someone for money would lead you to asking for more and more and more, until you can't pay that someone back. The same situation you were stuck in now.
"It's okay." You said quietly. "I will find a solution. Have a nice weekend."
You bent down, grabbing for you bag and leaving the small office, heading straight back home.
The next morning was hard for you. The letter lying in your mailbox in evening wasn't helping to cheer up your mood. You landlord was getting more and more impatient, waiting for his rent to be paid. You were already 3 weeks late with you rent, and slowly he was running out of sympathy.
The words he wrote held you up from sleep the whole night, causing you to desperately think about a solution for this problem:
"...termination without notice if the rent is not be paid within the next two weeks..."
You had cried a lot this last night. Never in you life you had thought that you would end up like this, broke and desperate. You even had considered to jump over your pride and ask your boyfriends, who clearly had enough money, to help you out. But you quickly threw away this option, not wanting to use them because of their money.
With no other option left, you found yourself sitting on your laptop, checking you bank account. Of course you never spend all your money all at once. You had laid back a certain amount of money, your life savings, that you had sworn to never touch.
This money was so important for you, because it was meant to be spend into your future. A future that included your boyfriends, a own house, a car.....children.
Of course, you knew that each of your boyfriends were millionaires, multiplied with 7.
If you wanted, you would never have to go to work ever again. With their money, they could probably buy you 10 houses, 9 cars, 5 horses, a plane and everything you could ever wish for.
But that had never been your goal in life. You didn't want them to pay everything for you. They had own dreams, and each of them had worked hard to earn this much money. You couldn't and you wouldn't take advantages of that.
"Fuck." You whispered, as your head sunk onto the table you were sitting on.
By now, you couldn't hold back your tears anymore.
You computer screen showed your online bank account, listing the accounts you had created years agon. Among them the one that was your last chance to not be homeless soon:
Life Savings.
As you clicked on the link, a new window opened on your screen, showing you all the amount of money you had saved.
4,516 $
You stared at this number. Of course, this didn't sound too much in the first moment, but you were still young, and with 4000$ you would easily come through another 4 months, even more if you would be economical.
The tears were still running down your plump cheeks, rolling over your chin and staining your blue shirt. You didn't want to do that at all, but you had no other choice.
The only person you would have been brave enough to ask for help, was your mom. Sadly, she died 5 years ago, with all her bereaved money spent for the hospital bills and the funeral.
You sighed heavily. There was no going back now. You would transfer the money to your landlord today, before he could kick you out.
You were about to click the small 'Transfers' button, when suddenly your doorbell rang. You flinched heavily when the loud noise rang through you ear, obviously not expecting someone today.
You stood up and walked out of your bedroom, over to the front door.
Immediately when you opened the door, a bouquet of red roses blocked your view. You let out a small shriek, when the red flowers sunk down, revealing a familiar face behind it.
"Hello." Jimin flashed you his beautiful smile, before he pushed the flowers into Namjoon's arms, stepping forward and lifting you into his arms.
"Oh my god." You breathed out as you broke away from you paralysis. You wrapped your arms highly around the silver haired boy, who was still hugging you. "You are here."
"Jimin, don't break her." You heard Yoongi's deep voice from behind. "We still need her."
He tugged Jimin's shirt, until he let you down onto the floor, pouting as he had to pull away from you. He pressed a gentle kiss to your nose one last time, before the next boy stepped forward.
Their very presence was enough for you to calm down from the past stressing days. Having them squeezing you in their arms, kissing you all over your face made you feel so loved and invulnerable in the moment.
"May we step in?" Jin asked as he pulled away from you.
Still overwhelmed from their sudden visit, you looked at him confused. He gestured his hand into your apartment. You quickly stepped away from the doorway, letting them step inside.
"Are you okay, Jagiya (Honey)? You look a little bit pale." Jungkook asked as he stepped in front of you.
He lifted his hand up towards your forehead, feeling if you had a fever. But your skin felt cold under his touch.
"I am just – I am just surprise that you...." You began to stutter as they all stared at you.
They could tell that something was up with you. Being together for almost 3 years now, they knew that you would began to slightly stutter when you try to hide something. So you had to think about an excuse, before one of them would ask more questions.
"What are you even doing here?" Was the first thing that came into your mind. "Shouldn't you be in quarantine or something?"
"Silly Jagiya." Jungkook laughed as he cupped your face into his big, manly (and now tattooed) hands, pressing a wet kiss onto your nose. "Three weeks are over. We can leave the dorm again, so we decided to surprise you!"
The boys quickly let go of your strange behaviour. You all went into your living room where Hoseok and Tae were already pulling out your sofa, that way you would all fit on it. As soon as they placed the cushions back onto the sofa, you were lifted from the ground a thrown onto it.
"Hey!" You laughed and giggled as Jimin crawled over you.
He laid his much heavier body onto your smaller one, trapping you under him. He grabbed for you wrists, pulling them up over your head, where he pinned them down onto the soft fabric. With his mouth, he placed a line of kisses from your collarbone up to your ear.
"I missed you so much." He whispered as he nibbled the sensitive skin of your ear. "I thought about you a lot during quarantine, Sweetie."
You knew what he wanted from you. As Namjoon once said, Jimin needed indeed a lot of love and attention, but you loved to give it to him. Sadly, you had to disappoint him this time.
He was already pulling and tugging on your shirt, when you brought your mouth up to his ear.
"I am on my period." You whispered in that sexy voice you knew he normally loved.
He pulled away from you, looking into your eyes deeply.
"Are you serious?" He whined as he let go of your arms.
You were already laughing hard when the other finally came from the kitchen with snacks and drinks in their hands.
"What are you laughing at, Jagyia?" Tae asked as he plopped down next to you. "And why is he already pouting?"
He gestured for Jimin, who had crawled off of you, and was now lying beside you, hiding his face in your chest as you drove your fingers through his soft hair.
"She is being mean." He mumbled against your chest. "Stacking me three weeks in quarantine, with no one to care for me, and now that I have the chance to finally love my girlfriend again, she is one her period. You did this on purpose, didn't you?"
"We had phone sex almost ever day." You laughed at him as you pressed a kiss into his hair.
"But this isn't the same." He still whined. "And we hadn't had sex yesterday. So you can't say every day. And beside, sex over the phone isn't the same..."
You sighed at his words. You forgot to call them the previous evening, because of all the stress going on with your work and apartment.
"I am sorry." You said, as you threw your head back into the soft cushions. "I was just so stressed with work and stuff."
"Is everything okay with work?" Yoongi asked as he took your hand. "It must be hard for you when no weddings are allowed."
For a moment, your thought about telling them about the trouble your boss had with keeping the business going, but you decided to not bother them with your problems. They had enough stress with their band.
"Yes, yes, Everything is fine." You quickly tried brushed his concerns off. "We have a lot of pre orderings and stuff."
The topic quickly changed. The boys told you everything they did while stuck up in quarantine. They had used the time to work on their new album, which they wanted to do on their own. They told you how recording and producing was going.
"Hey, Aein (Sweetheart)?" Namjoon suddenly spoke up. You lifted your head from Hoseok's chest to look up at him. "Have you seen my green shirt by any chance? I couldn't find it anywhere at the dorm."
"Oh yes." You quickly said. "You forgot it the evening before you left. I washed and folded it on my desk. You can get it."
He nodded and got up from the sofa to walk up towards you bedroom. The other boys meanwhile where swarming about the evening before they left for America three weeks ago, complaining how bad they need you.
Namjoon had reached your bedroom door quickly.
He pushed it open and stepped inside. Immediately, he smiled when he saw your tidy bedroom. You have always been an organized person, which he admired, because he absolutely wasn't able to hold his room at home tidy.
He looked around, and spotted his green shirt, carefully folded on the table next to your laptop. He passed your bed and was about to reach his hand out for the piece of fabric, when his eyes fell onto the sheet of paper lying onto your desk.
He didn't want to invade your privacy, but the headline of the sheet caught his attention.
"Admonition: Pay your rent." Was written at the top of the paper.
His eyebrows cocked up. You didn't mention to them that you were laid with paying your rent this month. Normally, you didn't keep any secrets from each other.
He quickly read over the text. It seemed like you not only forgot to pay your rent, but you had delayed the day of paying several times. His eyes shifted over to your laptop, that was still opened up from when you were earlier working on it.
He entered the password, and the window of your bank account popped open. He saw which account you had opened, and it shocked him. He knew about your life savings, and he was slowly combining the figures.
You sometimes had mentioned that you didn't eared much money with your job, but you had never before complained about being not able to pay for your rent. Why would you take your life saving, instead of asking one of the boys or him for help? They would always help you out.
He stood up from the desk and walked towards the door. He quickly had to ask you about the rent topic, before you would do something you will regret later.
"Aein!" He called from the doorway. "Can you come here for a second, please?"
He waited for you to finally reach the room. Confused, you looked at your tall boyfriend sitting on your bed, looking kind of nervous and worried.
"Are you okay?" You asked, suddenly being pretty nervous yourself.
He didn't answer, instead, he gestured for you to take a place next to him on the bed. You made your way up,, and let your body sink down next to his. From this position, your gaze fell onto your desk. A flash of shock hit your body. Had he read the letter? What if he saw your bank account? What....
"I – ehm – I just want to say that I didn't want to invade your privacy. It was an accident." He said, as he took your hand, looking deep into your eyes. "But I saw the letter lying on your table. Are you having trouble with paying your rent? You know we would ever...."
"No, I am fine." You quickly said, not wanting to hear what he was about to say. "My boss is just a little bit late with my payment. But it will eventually arrive within the next days."
He looked at you intensely, knowing that you were lying because he saw your bank account. He sighed, and pulled you over from your spot onto his lap. Immediately, your arms wrap around his neck, nuzzling your nose into his neck. His apple scent was overwhelming your nose.
"Aein." He said quietly while stroking your back in small circles. "Why are you lying to me? You know that I, that we, would always help you out. I saw on your computer that you were about to take the money from your life savings. Why would you do that instead of asking one of us?"
By now, you couldn't hold back the tears anymore. Not only had you lied to your boyfriends, you also had to admit yourself that you had problems that you couldn't solve on your own. You hugged him tighter, sobbing quietly into his neck.
Namjoon didn't say anything, he just rocked you gently back and forth, rubbing small circles on your back. He wanted to give you the time to tell him by your own. After a few minutes, you finally pulled away from the soft skin of his neck, eyes puffy and red.
"I – I don't – I am sorry." You sobbed even more, not being able to say the words. This was a really big deal for you. "I just don't you to think that I need your money to survive and - and I didn't want to have any depts. So I thought I – I could use some money from my life saving to bridge over this month."
You looked at your hands in your lap, fiddling with the sleeve of Namjoon's shirt.
"Look at me." He said, as he lifted you face by your chin. "Did one of us make you ever feel like you were dependent from us?"
You shook your head slightly, without hesitation.
"Did one of us make you ever feel judged when you had problems?"
You shook your head again.
"Did one of us denied you any help once, when you needed it?"
"No." You whispered.
He pressed a kiss onto your forehead. He then placed his left arm under your kneecap and his right arm under your back to lift you up in his arms. As he began to walk out of your room, you wrapped your arms once again around his neck.
When the two of you reached the living room, all the other heads shot up from the TV.
"Where have you been so long?" Jin asked as he shoved a hand full of crisps into his mouth.
When they saw your puffy eyes, they all immediately knew that your had been crying. Namjoon sat down onto the sofa, letting go of you, as another pair of strong arms were already wrapped around your body from behind.
"What happened?" You heard Jungkook whispering in your ear from behind, as he placed small kisses all around your ear.
You hesitated for a moment. Then looking up at Namjoon, who gestured for you to tell them, by lying his hand on your knee.
Carefully, you told your boyfriends about the financial problems your had. You told them about your work and your boss not being able to pay your payment in time, so you could pay your rent in time. You told them about you not being brave enough to ask someone for help, because you were embarrassed.
The boys listened carefully, as you spoke.
"But Jagyia." Jimin had crawled up beside you. "We are together. You have to tell us everything that is on your mind. We would never reject you, you know?"
"I know." You laughed slightly as you kissed his plump lips, that were just inches away from yours. "I am sorry. I thought I can just bridge this month."
"You are so silly sometimes." Jin suddenly said, as he bent forward to grab your arms pulling you along with him as he threw himself backwards onto the sofa. "I want you to trust us with everything that bothers you. We want you to be happy."
The eighth of you kept talking a little while longer, until you heard the words:
"Maybe paying rent is not necessary anymore, because there actually is something we wanted to ask you for quite a long time now."

2021 End of Year Gifmaker/Creator Tag Game
Cut this into what works for you. Want to do only one instead of five? Do it. Tag 2 people? Do it. This game is not your mum or the Apple App store to tell you what to do. But there are a couple of rules:
RULE 1: Review your creations over 2021. Tag some gifmakers/creators, friends and strangers to get them to do the same.
RULE 2: Link to the content, commentary optional.
5 (or more!) creations from others that made you smash the reblog button hard, closely followed by your ‘insp’ tag or ‘fave tag’. Link to sets that started conversations, outstanding composition, colouring, etc.
4 creations of which you’re proud. These are goals you scored. Nothing to do with notes.
3 creations others loved. Include the one that one that got most notes, great comments, or the classic ‘how dare you!’
2 creations that stretched you as a creator: style, colouring, blending, text, etc. include the one that should have got more notes.
1 creation of yours that you find most aesthetically pleasing to the eye and self AND 1 creation that broke and (maybe remade you) as a creator – we all have that one.
0 the creation that never was because nothing was working that day.

I was tagged by @kamalaskhans and @elenas!
5 (or more!) creations from others that made you smash the reblog button hard, closely followed by your ‘insp’ tag or ‘fave tag’.
there’s no actual order here but these were some of my faves this year:
@spaceslayer‘s Sam Cap Set. I loveeee sets that blur the lines between gifset and edit in general and the second gif in this is a great example of why. Having a mix of funny, iconic, and serious Sam moments on that film strip/in a single gif communicates so much.
@lamberts‘ The Witcher We’re All Stories in the End set. The interpretation of the concept is so nicely done and the blending on each gif is just impeccable.
@madeline-kahn‘s Julie and the Phantoms Scrapbook set. This idea is SO cute and so appropriate for the show 💗.
@queencalanthes‘s Midnight Mass set. The combination of overlays and the transition from black and white to color over the course of the set is truly lovely and really drew me into the emotional arc it is tracing.
@shegos‘ Monica Rambeau set. The choice of shots is great and the tvs are such a well-chosen frame for the smaller gifs!
4 creations of which you’re proud:
Steve Rogers - The Price of Freedom. The favorite character meme has been a super fun way of continuing my Steve Rogers fixation and this set turned out especially well imo 💗.
Nat/Yelena - Asking for a Friend. This set was something of an anomaly in that it came together incredibly fast. I put the set on my gif ideas list one night, spent the next night making it, and posted it the following day. All without any incredible amount of suffering aside from a certain level of agonizing over the blending on the third gif 😅.
Ajak’s Guide to the Eternals. Not my most technically complicated set, but an idea I really loved made reasonably well (I think) given the footage constraints I was working with.
“Peggy is Home for Steve”. I’m proud of this one for two reasons. One, the blending on the first and third gifs.... truly some of my most seamless work 😎. Two, in another year, in multiple other years, this would have been a creation that never was. I’ve had this quote on my gifset ideas list since Chris/the Endgame Awards Campaign unleashed it and, until this year, had never been able to quite figure out how to best use it.
3 creations others loved:
Monica Rambeau breaking through the Hex. This moment is still in my top five mcu moments of 2021 so 🥰
Natasha saving her family. As a stan/frequent purveyor of pain and garbage, I get yelled at lot in general and this set definitely stands out as one of the top people yelling at me sets of 2021 😅.
The Loki Lecture. A time when me reading excessive amounts of MCU related interviews payed off!
2 creations that stretched you as a creator
The Nat/Sam/Steve AU Set. This is only the second AU set I’ve ever made and, unlike my last one, it involved a much wider number of footage sources. I’m always super picky and intense about trying to make shots/coloring match as much as possible when combining footage for these kinds of sets (which is why I’ve only ever made two au sets) and getting this set to a place where I was satisfied with each gif was a journey. (And that is not even touching on the fact that I very much did not intend to write dialogue for this and then ended up having to write dialogue for this 🤪....)
The Steve’s Arc Was Good Actually Set. This isn’t the first set of mine to start its life as an aborted text post, but this is the first to really stick so close to its “I am tired of being told I don’t know what I’m talking about or that things that actually happened on screen didn’t actually happen” origins. As such, I spent a week or so figuring out how to best present and organize each element of Steve’s journey towards getting a life. And while it certainly didn’t stop people from taking a “that sign can’t stop me because I can’t read” approach to both this post and others I’ve made, the process of making it was quite rewarding and the feedback I’ve gotten on it from my fellow Steve Ending/StevePeggy stans has been quite good 💗.
1 creation of yours that you find most aesthetically pleasing
What If...? Episode Color set. I’m way less comfortable working with animated material than I am with live action and while What If...? had some shots I loved, I had to really hunt to find the right shot to use for some of the episodes. But the final result, especially the last two gifs, all felt like it came together and did what I wanted.
1 creation that broke and (maybe remade you) as a creator
The Marvel Heroes set. It’s not every day that late night Kevin Feige interview watching leads me to a Perfect Gifset Idea, but, after a truly horrendous aborted attempt (the approach I was considering was one I liked/have repurposed since, but it would have had me in photoshop until at least 2079 had I stuck with it here), I roughly figured things out. and then spent the final pre-Shang-Chi week and the first post-Shang-Chi week with this open in Photoshop. I nearly quit multiple times, either because of sheer exhaustion with the project or because I had truly underestimated the challenges of finding shots that had the correct energy for each line and still looked good when made to fit into a tiny little triangle, but I was (and still am) incredibly happy with the final result.
0 the creation that never was:
There’s an infinite number of things that didn’t get made this year. Some because the charm of the idea faded before I had the time to make it or before I could figure out exactly how to execute it. Some because I didn’t have eternals in 4k the footage needed. But, right now, the creation that stands out most is the Nat/Sam/Steve set I have had roughly planned out since early 2021 and have yet to accomplishing anything on aside from opening Photoshop, doing some screencapping, and then deleting everything because it is just all Not Right.

In a year where the MCU ended its content drought but where I also spent a good chunk longing for specific, not yet out, content, my creativity happened in fits and spurts. Some of this was a testament to how much (or how little) time I had for going insane in Photoshop at different points in the year, but some of it was also a product of the fact that some pieces of content were incredibly fruitful for my level of creativity while other times what I wanted to make and what I could make were just not in sync at all. But, when I wasn’t suffering from Lack of Specific Content That Was Mostly Just Eternals or just had No Time, I felt like I really pushed myself in terms of learning/figuring out how to do new things in Photoshop and in further polishing my existing skills 💗.
(and i’m not tagging anyone because it is 2022 and 🙈!!!!)
