I had grown so tired of Wes Anderson, but this masterpiece woke me up from the slumber. For me, most of his movies have a third act problem, usually involving a chase scene, that just seems irrelevant from everything that we've seen up to that point. Perhaps due to the nature of a vignette, I found every one of these succinct stories to be delightful and exactly the right amount of plot for me, and executed so well. Outstanding performances by Adrien Brody, Benicio Del Toro, and Jeffrey Wright. Steve Park's dialogue in the the cut pages from Roebuck Wright's story made me cry, and being perfectly placed, my emotions built up to the point where I teared up again at the ending, much to my surprise as I usually just don't get Bill Murray. This movie also reminded me how gay I am for Saoirse Ronan. It was nice to see all the usual faces of an Anderson joint, as well as some of the newcomers to the fold. I really appreciated the use of French speaking actors/actresses throughout. I was so dubious that I was going to really enjoy this movie, and have it be something I return to more than once, but this completely hit the mark. Now everybody say, "Thank you, Wes."

I watched ammonite and I really didn't expect it to be so bad and bleak and pointless. You can't just straight up copy portrait of a lady on fire and then not think people would compare these two movies. And if they thought they would emerge victorious from that comparison I want to know which drugs they took. I could write a never ending post listing all the things and scenes they just copied and pasted, it's ridiculous. You can't copy Céline Sciamma if you don't have a Céline Sciamma behind the camera and the script because you're just setting yourself up for failure and what a failure and disappointment ammonite was.

PLEASE LEAVE SAPPHIC MOVIES TO WOMEN or at least I don't know surround yourself with women while directing it.

What a waste of time it was, I'm sorry for Kate Winslet and Soairse Ronan because they deserved a good movie and where the only thing (along with Fiona Shaw, the scenery and the true story behind it) that kept me watching until the end.

The pace is all wrong, the tension goes from non existent to full sex scene (also please I don't want to watch lesbian porn precisely cause it's for men and made with men in mind so just spare us), no meaningful dialogue, no introspection, no understanding of the significant other, no respect for the other's desires, the sound and lighting goes from none to deafening/blinding too many times and the plot is simply not there.

0/10 for me, just don't put yourself up against a masterpiece trying to imitate it because you'll get crushed.
