[Masterpost] SOARA Drama CD - “Gift”

Hello~! It’s been a really long time since I last posted on Tumblr, but I’m probably going to be more active here again (especially since Twitter is in shambles right now orz)~ Life has been a kick in the butt, but I have been working on a few projects that I’ve been wanting to work on, so hopefully my Tumblr blog will look alive (pun intended www) again!

Let me kick the blog back up with a literal “Gift” translation~! Thank you to @melynir for requesting me for this drama! It is based on the plot of IveSta 6, but watching the stage isn’t really necessary to appreciate what the drama CD wants to convey ^^ IveSta 6 is divided into Growth and SOARA versions, but the drama applies to SOARA only, just in case you’re wondering where Growth and ZIX are.

Manga Recommendation: Soara and the House of Monsters

So with the popularity of fantasy series that are actually pretty hard fantasy and not just isekai fantasy in manga and anime recently. Particularly, series like Dungeon Meshi, Frieren, and Witch Hat Atelier, I wanted to personally spotlight a lesser known series in that same high fantasy genre that gave me a similar vibe. Soara and the House of Monsters

So the premise: Soara is an orphan who was raised to do battle in a war between man and monsters, but never got the opportunity to before peace was declared. Without a purpose in life, she meets a dwarf, Kirik, who builds homes for monsters. Displaying the gorgeous/imaginative art of the series.

Each "arc," if you want to call it that, often involves Soara and Kirik's party coming across a stereotypical fantasy race and their often run down or depressing lair where they can live. Kirik resolving to then build that creature their dream home. This is because monster have been motivated to steal from humans because what they desire is a home. Comfortable accommodations instead of the squalor they're trapped in. Through building these homes, Kirik makes a place where they can be happy and avoid trying to take from humans.

Now if that sounds a little like discussing how people are inclined to do bad things when society may not allow them to have a comfortable place in life, that's because it is. Despite its comedic tone, a key component of the series is Soara herself coming the grips with the prejudice that was instilled into her as someone raised to fight against monsters. But also her own hang ups of not having a home to call her own.

While I won't say it pushes the envelop of fantasy manga like the artistic tour de force of Witch Hat Atelier or the melancholic beauty of Frieren, it's still a creative fantasy series with likable characters with some great art. Following a compelling protagonist as she both has her comedic moments, badass moments, and moments of decoupling the prejudices that were instilled into her. Soara and the House of Monsters is a great little series.

First volume has already been translated officially, so you can pick it up from any book store or site.

Soara to Mamono no Ie

'Soara and the house of monsters', from the same author and artist as Marry Grave comes a heartwarming manga about building homes for monsters. Soara is an orphan who was brought up training to fight monsters and when her training finished the monsters and humans declared peace, now without purpose she wanders the monster realm before encountering a trio of dwarven architects. There are only 18 chapters translated as of writing this recommendation but so far my heart is full and my face is smiling, highly recommend.

Autoform Z10 Toyota Soarer 2.8GT and standard Soarer comparison. Translation below.

SOSHI: “Don’t break it from too much excitement, ‘kay? I heard that there’ll be some air suspension scenes this time so take care of the props, got it?”

REN: “Eh, air suspension!? Is that true!?”

SORA: “Yeah, I heard there were some wire-action scenes~! So, I’ll fall.”

**Dogeza, according to Wikipedia-sensei, “is an element of Japanese etiquette which involves kneeling directly on the ground and bowing to prostrate oneself while touching one's head to the floor.” It kinda loses its “intensiveness” when translated to English so I left it like that XD

This took a little longer to finish than I had hoped since life got in the way, and even with the pandemic I couldn’t wfh. By the time I got home I’d be too mentally drained to sit and translate stuff. Little by little, I managed to finally finish and here we are~

[Masterpost] TsukiPro “Taikyoku Denki” Pamphlet Translations

Hello, hello~! Here are the translations for the “Taikyoku Denki” pamphlet that TsukiPro released a few months back~! They added new profiles, and updated the lore that they initially released for Tsukiuta~! It’s a really interesting world, and the lore is equally rich and beautifully established! They planned on using Taikyoku Denki for another ProSta before it got postponed/cancelled, and I hope that they’ll pick it back up again soon!

What we know from TsukiSta 10th is definitely expanded on and updated within this pamphlet, and it was so interesting to see how they connected all of that to already established information~! It’s so great seeing SQ, ALIVE, VAZZROCK, and infinit0 joining in on this world, too~! They definitely add some spice and a whole lotta wholesomeness and chaos into this world.

I hope that you get to enjoy them as much as I did, too~! It’s a really rich world that opens up the imagination, for sure! ( ´ ▽ ` ).｡ｏ♡

I’m about half a day late, but at long last, happy birthday, @rubymikun!! Nowadays I can’t keep up with how many series you follow anymore, but I know at least that you like these boys -points pic-. I hope you had an awesome birthday.

We asked SOARA and Growth, groups who are friends yet rivals, to talk about the theme ‘love song’ ♪

As the two groups continue to change daily since their debut, let’s find out what their views are on ‘love songs’——

——Do you keep something in mind in order to send out ‘love’ to your fans while delivering your performance?

Sora: We’re jumping on difficult questions right off the bat!

Nozomu: To answer this, I think it’s all about how cool you look waving and dancing, right? Well, that’s not something Sora’s in charge of, so oh well~

Sora: R-rude! Not to mention, you’re not in charge of that either, Nozomu-kun, isn’t that right?

Nozomu: You’re rude as well!

Soshi: We didn’t even start properly and they’re already noisy.

Morihito: If we’re talking about something SOARA-ish... I think this is it?

Ren: Wait, today we’re together with everyone from Growth. Sora-senpai, Nozomu, you need to work together properly!

Kouki: -chuckle- … Sora and the others are always energetic and fun to watch.

Mamoru: Right~? I used to be like them a long time ago.

Kensuke: A grandpa snuck in here with us.

Ryota: Being energetic is not a bad thing but…Sora, Nozomu, I assume you’re still going to answer the question?

Sora & Nozomu: Y-yes!!

Morihito: Good answer (laughs).

Ryota: Then I think it’s fine if I give my answer first. To have fans fall in love, it’s important that we strongly portray the story written in Mamoru’s music. As a unit who sells songs, we’re supposed to convey the charm of the songs first, right?

Mamoru: Ryou-kun…

Kouki: Yeah, I know what you mean. Firstly, they need to fall in love with the song. Then, they can fall in love with us as a unit. I agree that that’s the order it goes in.

Kensuke: You could say our songs are packed with our personalities~.

Sora: “To fall in love with the song is to fall in love with us...” H-How cool!

Nozomu: Huh…. As expected, sparkling remarks from sparkling people.

Ren: Indeed.

Nozomu’s line was supposed to be a joke….

Nozomu: Yeah! … Also, hey!

Soshi: The fact that we’re left speechless by their clever remarks proves we still have a long way to go until we reach Growth’s professionalism.

Morihito: Ahaha. But still… I don’t think that’s a bad thing about SOARA. We don’t think about things as impossible, whether or not we can keep our cool when faced with them… or at least, that’s probably the spirit we project. I think that bluntness is what makes us special.

Ren: I get what Mori-sensei is saying! Things like “fun” and “happiness!” Those kinds of things are Sora-senpai’s direct feelings that he’s worked hard to pack into all of his songs - that’s what SOARA’s niche is!

Nozomu: When we sing, we ourselves are happy and having fun, it feels like dreaming.

Morihito: If I were to adapt it to our current question, I’d say we all fall in love with Sora’s songs. So we hope our fans will fall in love with the songs together with us.

Soshi: From that point of view, I don’t think we’re that different from Growth. We’re pretty much rival units in that regard too.

Kensuke: Right?

Kouki: …… Mamoru? Sora? Why are you two so quiet?

Mamoru: Hearing you all say that, it’s kinda… embarrassing, but makes me happy at the same time… Something like that?

Sora: Exactly! I’m embarrassed! But happy! And still embarrassed! But your love makes me feel alive! Thank you!

Mamoru: Thank you as well!

——If you were to listen to a love song with your loved one, what would the ideal situation be?

Nozomu: Okay! For me it would be by the sea in the summer! It gives off feelings like “I want to share a fun romance with the person I like!” and “It’s fun to be so excited!” as if the ocean were to burst with emotion!

Ren: That sounds like you, Nozomu. If I were to pick a season, for me it would be autumn. Holding hands on a path covered by fallen leaves… Or something like that. Umm… This is all hypothetical though…...

Ryota: Ah, I’d like something like that too. Enjoying the silence surrounding us as we walk slowly and listen to the music… It sounds nice.

Soshi: I’d go for spring. Maybe in a room where the light shines gently, as we drink coffee?

Morihito: I also vote for spring. Listening to a gentle love song in a place covered by cherry blossoms sounds good.

Sora: Sou and Mori were able to imagine their scenario so naturally, it’s like they’ve been secretly plotting something like that for a while...Heh.

Soshi: Don’t be jealous of our imaginations (laughs). What would you choose?

Sora: Me? Probably spring too…? Ah, but summer-...! Autumn… winter… no, the season doesn’t matter! It would be great if we could listen to the the songs I wrote in my bedroom with all my favorite melodies gathered and talk about random things! That would be the most fun!

Kouki: Mine would be winter, I suppose? On a cold day, we’d stay in a warm room cooking something basic, forgetting all of our troubles for the moment.

Mamoru: Ah~! Everyone has so many ideas~. How nice~! I’d like to walk around the city when it’s covered in pretty holiday lights~.

Kensuke: Will you do a street performance while you’re at it too?

Mamoru: Ahaha, I could. Gregorio maybe~.

Ryota: Isn’t Gregorio too over the top for a street performance?
