I don't really care for a 'soc 3' as a full novel (I consider the duology a very finished narrative, and I'm doubtful it'll ever happen anyway) but I would go fucking crazy for a short story collection, both pre-and-post canon. susanna clarke's the ladies of grace adieu which accompanies jonathan strange and mr norrell, and tamsyn muir's short stories for each of the locked tomb paperbacks are so great, and I'd kill for something like that for soc... I know this is a niche that fanfiction can and does fill, but there's so much stuff that's only alluded to in canon that could make a killer short story. tell me about kaz's heist on the diplomat's wife who loved emeralds. tell me about jesper's time on the novyi zem front with colm. tell me about imogen; what happened to her? what about the other barrel gangs? this could even be a chance for leigh to tell us what kaz's full name actually is lmao

It’s not gonna be Nina cause that would defeat the entire point of row

It probably won’t be wylan cause he’ll die before Jesper anyway so what would be the point

It won’t be Inej cause Kaz would go batshit (we all saw what he did after jordies death) and can Leigh really justify Kaz snapping and committing mass murder (unless it’s a Romeo and Juliet situation and he kills himself but doubt it)

It could be Jesper cause that would mean that wylan outlives him which no one would expect

It could be Kaz cause while Inej would be heartbroken she’d manage to carry on with life (like Nina)

So yeah. It’s either Jesper or Kaz

wishlist: I'm really looking forward to reading Bardugo's new book (even though I hear there are people who don't like the idea very much) it inspires me a lot! we'll see... just as I can't wait for these strikes to end (even if the screenwriters and actors have all my solidarity) so that the ninth house project can get started. I liked it a lot less than the Grishaverse, but it's still fantastic and I think it would make a good series (which I will definitely watch). I know it will be followed closely by the author and this gives me hope for a faithful project. ah and I want the third book to come out. however I am very reluctant about a third of six of crows... for me it would be fine with how it ended , even if there are other things to say, just because I fear that the story will be ruined. not only by possible further deaths, but by poor ideas.. even if I'm curious about Kaz's real name and why not? about his mother and maybe about his life on the farm. upon closer inspection we know very little, I learned more about it in fan fiction. we'll see... I still (ashamed!) have to read Nikolai's dilogy... because I've heard terrible things about it and that scares me. but for Christmas I will read it. I promise. ah and I hope (at this sad point) that Netflix decides once and for all to give the sad news that we are all waiting for so that the rights to Shadow and Bones expire and that over the years someone can pick up the project. maybe more faithful to the book. or maybe just one show out of six about crows...(well, I really liked the Netflix show despite some slip-ups, the actors were fantastic and I'm sorry not to see more, I was very curious about the spin of and thought it might have potential. I would have liked to enjoy these characters more... things could have been done more calmly... patience! it will be for the next project. they'll make another one anyway, right? Let's think about Percy Jackson... it took years but now we have a TV series...)

i totally understand how some people might think six of crows isn’t as diverse as the fandom makes it out to be, but i think a lot of people forget that diversity can exist outside of gender, race and sexuality. like okay, Inej and nina are the only main characters that are women, of the seven main characters four are queer (which is great) but only three of those seven are poc. however, if you broaden your horizons for a moment, you’d realize kaz is physically disabled (hence the need for his cane), nina is plus-sized (body diversity), wylan is dyslexic (also disabled), inej’s religion and culture are very important to her (healthy religious rep), jesper has adhd and a gambling addiction (neither is used to illustrate how lazy he is) kaz and inej’s trauma isn’t treated like a character trait (their lives and how they live are both changed by their ptsd) and matthias’ whole arc is about learning to do better by people that are not like him and how to break away from a toxic upbringing. so no, soc doesn’t have perfect rep if you’re only concerned about gender, race and sexual orientation, but i implore you to re-evaluate why you think only those three things are worth representing. soc doesn’t have perfect rep, but it has more diversity of representation than most mainstream media.
