My personal take on the swearing/sex jokes in Helluva/Hazbin:

Some people feel that the show relies too much on these moments for humour, but I don’t think all of these moments are necessarily there for humour at all. Some definitely are, and sometimes I feel it goes overboard and doesn’t land for me, but my interpretation of many of these “jokes” is that they are there to help set the tone and the scene of hell. It’s a messy, toxic, depraved place, of course the residents are going to be twisted by it. People are often influenced by their surroundings, things seep in to the brain even if they are not wanted. It makes sense to me that many of the characters would also have elements of messy toxic depravity, that’s all they have ever known.
