HORROR MOVIES ft. aoba johsai & shiratorizawa
synopsis: they're having a guy's night out or something but they're watching a horror movie first. what are their thoughts?
Tumblr media
AOBA JOHSAI !
oikawa's definitely not a fan. mainly because it scares the life out of him and he admits that. he just doesn't understand why anyone would love it? like, do you wanna live paranoid or something?
matsukawa and hanamaki are the biggest fans of horror movies. with nightly hang outs with the third years in the team, they watch a movie first and whenever the two are feeling it (which is always), they'd put on a new horror film whether that be the scariest one to the shittiest one yet. but they never get the turn to pick anymore because nobody enjoys the first one or two hours of the night cos of them and their horror films.
iwaizumi definitely likes horror as well but not on the level of mattsun and makki, and a lot do scare the hell out of him but unlike oikawa, he laughs afterwards? first, 'that scared the living shit out of me!!' and the next it's just funny cos when he thinks about it, it just looks/seems funny. oikawa's def concerned for him tho cos... why?? would you laugh?? after a jump scare at that??
yahaba's the type to get so defensive when someone asks him (teasingly) if he's scared or not and it's always a few minutes or seconds before a jumpscare and it scares him cos his focus wasn't on the tv screen but then he'll look back and get scared and then gets pissed cos why would you do that??? 😒😒
watari hides himself but his eyes when watching horror movies... yeah. he thinks someone'll take him away from anywhere which is why he covers himself and clutches tightly onto his blankets and wants to be sandwiched between the tallest members in the team cos he feels safer. much preferably if it's iwaizumi and kyotani bcos
kindaichi doesn't clutch onto the pillows and blankets that surround him but kunimi instead. kunimi says he doesn't like it but wants to be held as well bcos:
kunimi's scared as well. likes being held by kindaichi bcos kindaichi doesn't just jump and hold his arm but tightly holds on as if he was going to die and that just gives him a little peace of mind cos at least someone's there to keep him company during the movie. but it does piss him off from time to time cos sometimes it'll scare the shit out of him and he'll look beside him and get scared for a quick second cos what is up with that head it scares him but then it's just kindaichi so 😊
kyotani keeps talking shit out loud or in his head about how shitty the movie is. mattsun bets that there'll at least be one scene that kyotani will jump at and he was right but he only flinched a little and matsukawa didn't see it so 🤣‼️ – neutral feelings towards horror movies. it's not like he doesn't like it but he doesn't like it as much either, it's just a matter of how good the movie was if that makes sense?
SHIRATORIZAWA !
ushijima and goshiki definitely squint their eyes when a creepy face pops up or really anything scary. goshiki will squint his eyes but it almost looks like he's trying to close his eyes but can't or else he'll get bullied by shirabu if he catches him and ushijima more of looks like he's frowning at the screen 😭. ushijima neither likes or hates horror movies but goshiki absolutely hates it. despises horror movies or anything horror.
soekawa hates horror movies or horror in general as well. like goshiki, he prefers romcom. like why do we have to watch horror? is there like, no other movie to watch but horror? why? whyyy?? tears are welling up in his eyes at the sight of anything scary. if there's a jumpscare, he and goshiki are the ones to flinch so hard the whole couch practically shakes. cries with goshiki.
semi doesn't exactly like it, but he kind of does, but he more of hates it. flinches with soekawa & goshiki but not as hard as them 😭. clicks his tongue when there's a seemingly upcoming jumpscare but in the end there was none. he'll scream so loud though if tendou teases him, like tendou will just exclaim, "AH!!" out of nowhere and kinda push semi and he'll scream as well 😭😭
reon definitely wraps his legs in a blanket and hold his legs close to his chest cos he doesn't like the feeling of having his feet, or legs, out in the open, even if a blanket was covering his legs. he'll stay in the position without moving and leaves his legs feeling numb and hurting 😭 doesn't hate horror movies but def does not wanna watch horror unless he feels he really wants to.
tendou's definitely a lover for anything horror as well. if you put him in a room together with mattsun and makki, they'd all definitely be laughing their asses off or sleeping. the type to smile and kinda giggle when there's an upcoming jumpscare and flinch when there is but laughs afterwards. he loves horror. but not when he's in a bad mood or else it'll really make him paranoid.
shirabu and kawanishi definitely stick together and unintentionally hug each other at a jumpscare. they both hate horror movies. they'd rather watch a sappy, cringe, corny romance movie. shirabu will definitely open and close his phone right before a jumpscare because, "hell no. why should i watch it??" and kawanishi readies his headphones and phone to direct his attention elsewhere.
yamagata loves horror movies but will not tolerate tendou's ass during the show because tendou will scare anyone beforehand the actual jumpscare in the movie and it scares them so bad LMFAOO even if it has already happened once, it always happens again; they always get scared. anyways, yamagata sits with his feet to the floor and sandwiched between nobody.
Tumblr media
tendou & yamagata are me 😭😭 might make a tokyo rev ver??

HITMEN AU! | HEAD CANONS | 19+ [HAIKYUU!!]
𝕾𝖍𝖎𝖗𝖆𝖙𝖔𝖗𝖎𝖟𝖆𝖜𝖆 [PART i] [PART ii]
I’ve been inspired to continue through with this AU and to do more of the schools SKSKSKKS I hope you guys enjoy these ones~! ;; Live for big boi Waka~ Anywho, as always thank you all so much for the support and thanks for taking the time to read these~!
» » Admin Ko
»»————- ♔ ————-««
One of the most feared, yet highly paid for teams throughout Japan. All of the members within this group are high skilled hitmen and are practically some of the most sought after hitmen to get a clean kill.
Out of all the hitmen groups in their precinct, they are number one.
They have quite the long history, and after an incident with some of Karasuno’s members they have a sort of unspoken rivalry with them.
W̷a̷k̷a̷t̷o̷s̷h̷i̷ ̷U̷s̷h̷i̷j̷i̷m̷a̷
The boss of Shiratorizawa.
The literal embodiment of fear itself; it’s said that those who come into contact with him are either traumatized so badly they need to be hospitalized, or that their limbs are broken beyond proper repair.
Usually stays at the bast reviewing the work from the rookies and other members of the group.
Ends up taking the more higher ranked jobs to ensure it’s done quickly and efficiently.
Has a variety of skills, but his main choice is close combat. He may not seem like it initially, but he’s rather psychotic when it comes to close combat.
Loves to mercilessly kill up close and ensure the target is completely eliminated.
Sharp olive eyes scanned the premises. The large figure stood on standby as he awaited for further instruction before he proceeded down the desolate building. The desire to sink his knife into the awaiting target was high as he felt the leather gloves strain against his impatient fingers.
“All clear.”
The words rang into his head as he shifted. A blur of motions as he busted the door down quickly before launching himself surprisingly quickly at the target before pinning the person down onto the floor. His boot leaving a strong imprint on the target’s head as a cry of pain came from the pinned person.
“It’s unfortunate that we have to meet like this, but take pleasure that this will end for you quickly.”
The sharp tang of blood filled the room as he felt his body ease up at the familiar scene before him.
“Target neutralized.”
Built to the nines, he’s most definitely more tone than lean and has muscles for days to prove it.
Has tattoos, but more in the style of the more painful and traditional form of Irezumi. Though despite the painful process, he has a large expanse of art from his back to his left arm.
Littered with battle scars and wounds.
Likes to keep his hair short enough so he doesn’t need to worry about it, but long enough in case he has to do reconnaissance missions.
It’s rare for him to have an s/o, but if he happens to have one he’s quite...demanding (mainly in the bedroom sksks)
Positively protective of them and won’t allow any harm to come to them.
Is quite awkward with affection and isn’t sure how to properly display or give them affection.
Usually asks Tendo for advice. (Even though he shouldn’t)
J̴i̴n̴ ̴S̴o̴e̴k̴a̴w̴a̴
The right hand man, though not known very well. He’s usually behind the scenes with assigning missions and combating the cyber end of their transactions.
He’s rarely seen out of his office, and really only sees the other members when an important meeting is placed.
Again, besides being the right hand man and overseeing the operations with Ushijima, he’s the main tech guy within Shiratorizawa.
Like any of the previously mentioned cybernetic members of the other groups, he sports his own dark circles and chaotic sleep schedule in order to maintain working order within their base and on their cyber end.
Thankfully he relies on Shirabu and Semi to help keep the members all in line.
“Tch. Another one?”
Aggravated, and thoroughly pissed off. The male seated at the large display of monitors couldn’t help but slam his fist down on the table. The screens shaking slightly at the sudden force as a head peered into his room.
“Are...you okay?”
“Irritated, but nothing out of the ordinary. I suppose...”
It was meant to help ease the other’s worry, but seeing how the rookie’s eyes didn’t leave his fist he couldn’t help but let out a sigh before caving as he leaned back into his seat.
“They’re just non-stop attacks is all. No need to worry your head over it. It’s not like I’ll go mad from this kid. I’ve dealt with this plenty of times before-- albeit not at once, thank fucking god, but it’s nothing I can’t handle. Now run along. I know for a fact you have missions to finish before Ushijima returns.”
The statement itself had the rookie jolt up in shock before rushing off, a smile formed on the hacker’s face as he let out a sigh before stretching his back out before hardening his gaze onto his main monitor.
“Alright, let’s clean this up...”
Average height throughout the rest of the team. Isn’t necessarily as built as a majority of the team, but has enough strength and muscle mass to hold his own in any case if he’s forced out on the field.
It’s really thanks to Tendo for dragging his ass out of his office to spar and train with the rookies and other members.
Doesn’t have any tattoos, but does have a couple of piercings on his ears.
Similar to Ushijima, he likes to keep his hair short and out of his face when he works.
With his s/o (if he even gets one considering his job) he’d be as normal as he can with them.
Though with how busy he is, he unfortunately won’t be able to spend lots of time with them and really indulges on their needs and his own when he has a vacation or a forced break.
E̷i̷t̷a̷ ̷S̷e̷m̷i̷
One of the snipers on the team.
Usually seen training the rookies and working on aim with Shirabu, he’s more so seen as the trainer than a sniper.
He's assigned to the much more higher level assassination jobs. Due to experience-- and mainly because of how much shit Shirabu has to deal with when it comes to the rookies and Tendo.
Despite being one of the snipers, he’s one of the lesser known snipers in their precinct.
Though he’s honestly not upset by it, it just brings him more joy when he’s out on the field without any sort of distraction. (And also because he can prove a lot of other ‘well’ known snipers just how good he is)
“What’s the location and ETA of the target?”
Blunt and ever so tactical, the sniper’s gaze through the scope was honed in onto the building before him. His deep brown eyes focusing in on the details and for the slightest movements within the small room.
“ETA 3 minutes.”
There was no need to double check if the sniper was in the clear. The trust was evident the moment the other stated the ETA.
“Understood, ready for the shot.”
It was silent. The cool night air lightly brushed against his skin as his finger rested on the trigger. His breath stilling as he waited for the moment the target would pass the area.
A glimpse of movement and a head in his line of vision. The sharp whizz of the bullet flew by as the once standing figure crumpled to the floor. Only when he saw the blood did he relax from his position as he pulled back from the scope.
“Target neutralized. Requesting clean up.”
Similar to Soekawa, he’s average height within the team.
Though his build is much more similar to that of Ushijima as he’s the third most built and fit within the whole team.
Unlike Ushijima though, when he got his tattoos done, he went with the modern day method. Mainly to not waste time and to prioritize in training the rookies. (Has a neck tattoo, and a large back tattoo)
Medium length light ashy brown hair with dark brown tips, his fringe is usually pinned up or slicked back to keep it out of his face as he snipes, but usually it’s down around the base.
He’s actually very sweet to his s/o, despite his temper and desire to keep his job mostly a secret from them, he tries his best to be there for her.
Whenever he’s free he’ll spend as much time as he can with them.
R̴e̴o̴n̴ ̴O̴h̴i̴r̴a̴
The left hand man. In comparison to Soekawa, he’s much more in tune with the team and helps in strategizing out plans for any large operations or helping the rookies with their first time missions, etc.
Similar to Ushijima, he’s more of a close combat assassin than a long distance, but takes up strategy and interrogation work with Tendo. Though instead of actually interrogating, he makes sure that the red head doesn’t take things too far.
Dabbles a little in the medic field, and helps out Kawahishi in healing or treating their members from missions or scuffles at the base.
Is usually the one sent out to take care of any close assassinations in Ushijima’s place.
“It wouldn’t be surprising if they attempt to do a round about cut off here with their own men. Please prepare the necessary steps in order to avoid collisions and unnecessary fights. Our main goal is to eliminate the target, bring back any high profile members for interrogation. Are we clear?”
The echos of affirmation sang happily into his ears as he gave the team a smile. Confidence soared through him as he watched the team members discuss their roles with one another, making sure that everything was set with no hitches along the way.
Though of course he knew better than to completely trust them, he was fairly certain that there would be a mishap eventually and being the ever so reliable left hand, he was ready to take on the weight to ensure their assignment would be completed properly.
The second most fit and built member. Practically the same build as Ushijima.
Though unlike the leader, he has more piercings than he does tattoos. (Though he does have a mix of both) But if he had to pick which one he’d do, it would usually be piercings.
Usually has his hair shaved close down to the scalp to ensure he doesn’t have any unnecessary obstructions when he’s working.
Literally has two faces when it comes to his s/o. He’s a complete gentlemen with them, but won’t hesitate to intimidate the living shit out of someone messing with his s/o.
S̷a̷t̷o̷r̷i̷ ̷T̷e̷n̷d̷o̷
The main interrogator of the group, and the most unstable.
His psychotic tendencies are what brought him to the position he’s in today, and to the surprise of many he’s very well acquainted with Ushijima. The pair having been best friends and deciding to join the underground network for a quick buck--- and also to satisfy their more darker needs.
No such thing as good cop or bad cop with him, he will obliterate and pick at the target’s mind to no end and when he absolutely has to he’ll use his extensive knowledge of torture to get the information they need.
Is usually never seen out of the base unless he’s required somewhere else for his...services.
Without a doubt, one of the most feared men throughout the entire underground crime world
“Oh c’mon~ You can’t tell me your mental blocks are that weak~.”
The satirical tone set the victim at unease as they struggled against the belts that held them down. The mind games that they had played with the mad man before them had only lasted a day, and he had the nerve to call their mental fortress weak?
“Oh don’t give me that look. I’ve had so many others like you-- well not exactly like you since they lasted much longer, but hey. We can’t be picky with our toys, can we~?”
Unsettling. That was the entire vibe they got as the Cheshire like grin that formed on the lanky man’s face had them shivering in their seat as a cart of tools was suddenly rolled into the room and the amount of glee that shone through those scarlet eyes had them gulping in fear as they tightly clutched the seat’s arms.
“Oh well...let’s go ahead and see if you’re more physically capable of handling my methods~.”
One of the taller members whose appearance is more lanky, though despite this he’s well built and toned.
Has both tattoos and piercings, though not as many tattoos the only prominent feature from these would be the snake bite piercings he has.
Likes to keep his hair up and out of his face, despite it being long; he doesn’t necessarily want to cut it purely to keep his more devil like appearance when interrogating victims.
It’s almost surprising when he has an s/o. Though he’s a bit more teasing and blunt with them, he does showcase how much he cares about them
though not in the most...best ways. Thankfully he was stopped by Ohira before he delivered the heart of their rude boss to them.

hello... i saw that thickie karasuno manager thing... may i have the same thing but with shiratorizawa instead? 👁👅👁 if it's okay—
Hell yeah u can  bbebe
Third Years
- Wakatoshi is humbled by your sweet motherly presence. He doesn't get too flustered around you, but the praise makes him feel nice and serene. Expect the other teammates to call you “mom” and him “dad.”
- He doesn't mind when they do this ;)
- Toshi can sometimes be caught staring at your ass but he always refuses doing it.
- Jin is very nice to you and loves being around you. He gets super flustered when you praise him.
- Most likely the one calling Ushijima and you mom and dad.
- Honestly seems like the perfect boyfriend type and the others hate him for it lol
- Semi tries getting your attention pretty much the entire time. But he's super lowkey about it.
- The whole reason he even does it is because everyone else wants your attention, too, so it becomes a competition.
- The others may crowd you, and he'll just push them all away and be like “ugh are these guys bothering you y/n?” Proceeds to not leave you alone.
- Ohira is another good boy who honestly you just make him smile.
- Like he can't be very perverted around you- the others are already doing that so he has to be level-headed!
- Unlike semi, he's actually trying to be your friend instead of low-key getting your attention lmao
- Life’s not a competition, if you two are meant to be, it will happen naturally.
- Tendo, this freak.
- He's out here slapping your ass, grabbing your squishy mid section, squishing your cheeks and cooing at you.
- His hands are ALWAYS on you. ALWAYS.
- You turn him on too and you are VERY aware of the fact that you've given him a number of boners because he's not exactly subtle about it.
- Hayato is the one who does the best at keeping a leash on the younger years. He'll easily tell the guys his age to “lay off” when it comes to hitting on you (As Tendo does nonstop), but the younger year boys... He'll just glare at them until they back off
- Later on, you'll catch him lecturing them that “that's no way to treat a lady!”
- It's honestly cute. He's so good to you QwQ.
Second Years
- Yunohama is pretty quiet around you. He likes you and, if he REALLY likes you, he'll definitely ask you out. He's just chill about it, like Hayato.
- However, there's still a lot he doesn't know, so if he wants to ask you out he might kinda crowd you before actually getting the courage to do it.
- Meaning Hayato will call him out on it.
- Kenjirou is ready to fucking FIGHT everyone for you.
- He's not perverted, but if anyone (Tendo... Goshiki) Is overstepping boundaries with you, he gets LIVID.
- He'll literally try to fight the other boys off of you.
- Only to then become a tsundere and say “I'm just doing whats right, they're pigs!!”
- He blushing tho.
- If you compliment him he loses his focus for like 2 seconds so be careful during games.
- Taichi honestly can't look at you like he blushes a lot and for someone who is usually very expressionless he absolutely hates it.
- You make this boy redder than a tomato and it drives him mad.
- Expect him to ignore you, you may feel hated even but trust me its bc he likes you and thinks you're too cute to be dealing with these “Shitty pig-headed guys” on the volleyball team.
- Just give him time, he'll warm up.
First Years
- Goshiki LOVES YOU.
- He wants your praise, but doesn't want to come off as too needy, but then he REALLY wants your praise.
- Anytime he does something cool he side-eyes you to see if you noticed
- And if you did and you praise him for it, he gets all wide eyed and pumped up to do even more
- Which often ends up with him failing... But hey, he tries.
- He wants.. to hold.. ur hands
- Sagae is one good flustered boy.
- His words fumble with you but he's trying his best!!
- He's a good guy, but he's not good at getting his footing when it comes to talking to girls.
- Expect him to absolutely lose his train of thought whenever you call him out by name for something good he did.
- Akakura is probably the easiest first year to be around.
- He's nice, fairly quiet and level headed.
- He doesn't get too flustered around you, but can still see that you're super pretty and might.. might... be able to score a date with you~
- He doesn't have experience with women, much like the rest of the boys, but he's the best natural at being a gentleman lol.
I hope I did the minor characters justice >w<!

hello ! could i request a scenario where the reader is a diver at shiratorizawa + manager of the volleyball team and gets a head injury after hitting their head on the board and had to get stitches/staples and when they get back maybe everyone is really protective and motherly and all that stuff ?? maybe some extra semi and shirabu ?? thanks !!
ohh, i love writing for managers! i’m a little squeamish so i left out any super bad parts but i hope that’s alright!
teams: shiratorizawa
characters: wakatoshi ushijima, reon oohira, eita semi, satori tendou, jin soekawa, tsutomu goshiki, kenjirou shirabu, taichi kawanishi, hayato yamagata
pairing: shiratorizawa/reader
warnings: injury mention
words: 815
it was something extremely scary for the team. nobody really knew how to react at first when coach washijou had explained to them that their manager was currently in the hospital due to an accident that required them to have stitches. worst of all, it was a head injury which just made the whole ordeal much scarier.
a lot of the time when they weren’t practicing, they’d bicker back and forth about wether they should go see them in the hospital while they were recovering. it was a difficult question to handle, some agreed that they should go wish them well but others said that test was important for their manager and it could just stress them out even more to deal with and they could feel guilty for being away from the team for so long.
there was a reluctant but mutual agreement that they didn’t wish to make their precious manager feel even worse so they all decided to wait for them to come back.
they were all kind of a mess, it wasn’t very noticeable as they were a completely functional team to begin with but just little things like being unable to focus in classes sometimes, or missing a spike here and there. things that all seemed completely normal but were so out of place for shiratorizawa.
the day was coming near as to their manager’s discharge from the hospital and their arrival back to the school and everybody seemed a little on edge. it had been quite and while without them, but were they really fit and well enough to come back? they knew their manager was strong, you had to be to keep up with a team like them. though a little bit of worry couldn’t help but burn through them.
morning practice was going as it usually did and it wasn’t long before the team was aware of their odd sound on the other side of the court. the large doors were pushed open and they were all shocked to see.. their manager? but they weren’t supposed to be back yet!
“hi everybody! i’m sorry i’m late!” they beamed, it almost seemed like nothing had happened at this point which all of them found so odd.
the first ones to rush them were tendou and goshiki. instantly the pair threw their arms around them.
“y/n! it’s actually you, it’s so good to see our little manager back!” tendou laughed as he nuzzled into the top of their head.
goshiki, on the other hand, was quite emotional. “y/n-san! y-you’re actually back!” his face was buried in their neck trying to hold back his tears.
they looked so shocked, even more shocking that everybody else, even ushijima had stopped practice to rush over to their side. they all seemed to crow around them like a flock of birds. ‘tori’ being in the schools name was starting to make a lot of sense to their manager right about now.
“y/n-san! welcome back!” reon walked over and rested his hand on top of their head, giving their hair a soft ruffle.
semi was already by their side in an instant, him and shirabu almost fighting for their attention as they dragged tendou and goshiki respectively off their manager. “oi, tendou! give them some space! you wouldn’t want somebody rushing at you the second you come back!”
“goshiki, don’t you ever get tired of competing for attention?” shirabu reprimanded but it was clear he was a little jealous goshiki got there first.
jin, hatayo and kawanishi were all already asking respective questions as to how they were feeling and if they were really sure they should be back this early but it was kind of evident that they were all extremely glad their manager was back. even ushijima had gave them a small couple pats on the head with a soft nod in their direction.
their manager was almost frozen in place. were.. were they always this affectionate? they looked up to see semi and shirabu carefully looking them over for any signs of worry. it was clear they were both a bit shaken up from the ordeal, and still weren’t exactly ready to think they were totally fine yet.
“okay, okay, one at a time!” they pushed everybody away from them quickly. “one, i’m alright, two, yes i was cleared to come back and three, it’s good to see you all!” an eager smile graced their features. “now, get back to practice all of you! you better not have fallen out of shape while i was gone, or i’ll whip you all back into it!”
it was a relief to them all that their manager seemed cheerful still despite everything and the rest of the day had went pretty well until they had been a little too suffocated with everybody trying to do everything for them and made the team run laps.

—xXxXxXxXxXx—
Four years ago, it would have been a strange sight to see you, an up-and-rising wing-spiker, sitting on the sideline of the Shiratorizawa volleyball team. Being the female team’s manager was nice, but just as ambiguous as the adjective. You sorely ached to be back as an active member on the court and you seemed to radiate that very thought throughout the schoolyear.
At the end of your first-year you were switched from official wing-spiker to sub-pinch server. That was a huge demotion in your eyes, but a position you would gladly accept now. You knees were deteriorating from overuse and it was only facilitated at the Spring Tournament during your first-year. A bad-land from a spike and you tore your ACL. From that injury, there was no going back. That took you off the regular team for the rest of the year, since your doctor recommended six-months of healing.
Torn ACL’s do not heal and you did not want to undergo surgery, since it would only prolong your time away from the court. That decision was terrible in itself, but you reasoned that your volleyball career would end after high-school. So the long-term implications did not affect your future in sports since you did not envision one.
But your career ended sooner than you thought.
You did not seek the advice of the athletic trainer or even your coach and attempted to do the same work-outs as the rest of the team. And for a good amount of time, they bought your act. It seemed you were a miraculous healer, despite the urgings of both your parents and physicians. Dates set aside for physical therapy were skipped and you opted to make yourself useful to the team.
But you were doing just the opposite.
The women of Shiratorizawa’s volleyball team had their eyes set on nationals and it seemed that you were on the right track. The team earned their spot in the finals of the Interhigh Tournament, garnering attention against Niiyama High. You were set to serve, aiming directly for the serious face of Amanai Kanoka. Mid-stride, something did not feel right and you landed, not on your feet, but on your front-side.
You looked up from your prone form on the ground to see the horrified faces of your teammates and opponents. The usually loud section of Shiratorizawa’s student body was stunned silent and everyone’s eyes were fixated on your figure. First aid was able to hoist your motionless body onto a stretcher and time seemed to momentarily stop. You could still distinctly recall the perturbed faces of your friends and family. In that very instant, you felt your heart crack and silently whispered goodbye to your beloved sport.
Your torn ACL developed into a long-lasting chronic deficiency and you were slowly losing control in knee movement.
Pity.
That was the only word to describe the certain expression other people gave you after the fact. Volleyball held a large amount of prominence on campus and the fact that nearly everyone saw your fall – it was humiliating. You were taken completely off the team and instead ushered into surgery and rehabilitation for your knee.
Many of your teammates attempted to show compassion and understanding for your situation, but they would never truly understand. You had accepted, deep in your heart, that even if you had undergone surgery early your knee would continually depreciate. It was only a matter of time.
The coach could understand your reasoning, but cursed your insolence. It hurt her that you desperately wanted to help the team, to the point of sacrificing your future. If she had known, she would have taken you off the starting-line in an instant. But there was no second chance, no benefit in asking what if’s.
The previous manager of the women’s team was leaving with graduation and you inherited her spot. On more than one occasion, you wondered if staying on as manager would really help you emotionally. It was your own personal hell, watching your previous teammates engage in volleyball and never getting the chance to join.
Graduation liberated many of your friends and majority of the people who observed your deterioration first-hand were gone. New volleyball teams were forming and you missed most of their names. Without the use of it on the court, it was harder to connect and really converse with the fresh first-years. You knew the names of the promising few – Goshiki Tsutomu was a hard one to miss. There were also two exemplary female wing-spikers, but Shiratorizawa’s team ran both deep and wide.
With all this distance, you would often miss much of the drama from those outside your year. Many of the other volleyball players made an effort not to bar you and updated you daily on news. Tendou was the number one instigator and you would often hear a warped version of the gossip from him first.
None of the male players were in the same class, ironically. There was one in each class and you shared yours with Eita Semi for the past three years. You were the closest to the mom of the group and he would usually clarify new gossip to you.
The groupchat shared amongst both the men’s and women’s volleyball team usually went ignored in your pocket. Once in a while, you would contribute a dank meme or comment. But for now, you tended to silently witness the drama unfold. Amongst the newly minted third-years was a groupchat just for you guys, both the girls and boys teams, which was the one you and Tendou seemed to haunt.
As such, you were texting away in the middle of class. You sat with Semi, who was diligently writing notes and following along with the teacher. Neither had yet to see you, but no matter who it was, they would pluck the phone right out of your hands.

It was severely clear to all volleyball members that your spot as a regular was never safe (unless of course your name started with a U and ended with -shiwaka.)
The coaches of either team were relentless in their words and would drop a team member if they showed enough weakness. And you would not be surprised even in the slightest if the essential vice-captain of the men’s team was benched for the newfound first-year. The anomaly of Goshiki Tsutomu could be found in the fact that he seemed to be the complete foil of his older teammates. Despite this, he showed the most promise and you almost wanted to bet money that he would be a regular by the Spring High Tournament.

True to your word, you were laughing with almost no control while Semi was trying not to have his smile break his stern façade. You covered your mouth to stifle the giggles and the fact that the literal volleyball idiot wrote “Lol” you had no doubt he was laughing as well a few classrooms over.
Those in your immediate vicinity subtly turned to look at you and you had to pretend to bend-down to pick up a pencil to hide your laughter. You thanked Semi for the umpteenth time for grabbing these seats in the back that were far from the teacher’s reproach.
Once you were settled, Semi commented, “The aim of my remark was to calm you all down.”
It was hard to focus in class usually, but after a morning like that you were done. English was your forte and you had no problems with the subject, even in an advanced class focused on the western world’s literature. The Great Gatsby was your shit.

You frowned at your phone and Semi noticed your reaction, “That’s your fault. You brought it up.”
The two of you were done with class for the rest of the day and were casually lounging around his dorm room. His roommate, Reon Ōhira, was in class 4 and had a different schedule from the two of you.
You were laid-out across his bed, backpack carelessly thrown on the floor against his desk. Semi was previously occupied with whatever he does on his laptop, but now he was catching-up with the groupchat. This was incredibly normal and it was almost second-nature for you to lounge in his room. Your roommate, the captain of the women’s team, often noted this with certain intentions.
It was no secret that you and Semi were something.
You flirted nonchalantly and he had an overall friendly personality — it seemed entirely natural. Your relationship had blurred lines and no clear mutual understanding. The two of you could hold hands and he could get away with the occasional kiss on your cheek. And if anyone asked if you were in a relationship, you would say no. Semi would do the same.
There was one occasion during your second-year that pushed Semi’s buttons to the point where he made your relationship known. You could count the amount of female third-years on your hand and still have fingers to spare. This, in Tendou’s eyes, left barely any possible suitors that he would seriously be interested in. And of all people, the eyes of the guess monster settled on you.
Tendou was a somewhat of a Kuudere, in your words. He was not cold, but incredibly blunt and cared on the inside. He had the type of attitude that would not seem to care if their crush noticed them. Instead, he took it a step further, to compliment said crush to other people and claim not to like them. And because he was so damn loud and incredibly obvious, the other male volleyball players seemed to notice and their gazes would casually linger on you.
You would dismiss their sudden interest as only aesthetic-deep and not take any other crushes seriously, especially Tendou. His crush bounced from girl to girl and this was a well-known fact, simply because he could admire a good looking person and not get emotionally attached. However, this was easier when the girl was in his class and not as immediate as on the volleyball team.
Tendou would highlight the specific beauty of your smile or hair casually and the other third-years would calmly agree. Semi could see it all. He was in a private groupchat with those boys and you were the topic of their conversation more than once. He would see the friendly pat on the head from Reon as he complimented your cross-spike. Or how you would converse with Ushijima and his eyes would loiter even after you walked away. Or how you would smile brightly at Yunohama’s jokes.
Tendou and Ushijima’s shared dorm was secretly party central, the later surprisingly okay with socializing on a daily basis. But you normally hung-out with Semi, in his room. And recently you had been getting more and more invitations to their room. He was hella annoyed and would often drag you right after class to chill with him instead.
This did not change the fact that Tendou was aggressive and this led to the day of Semi’s snapping. Tendou was waiting outside of your classroom and once he spotted you, he stepped right between you and Semi to sling a lazy arm across your shoulders.
“Finally we are graced with Friday. No homework to worry about for tomorrow and even better, it’s a rest day for volleyball!” Tendou was narrating the day as the three of you walked, Semi pushed all the way to the side. “Shall we let go of our inhibitions to celebrate this rare occasion?”
You lightly attempted to push off his hold on you, but he did not budge. “Sorry Tendou, not exactly in the mood to go off campus tonight.”
“That’s perfectly alright with me,” He deflected the rejection, “Waka is leaving tomorrow morning so we can chill in the dorm.” Certain ideas were undoubtedly forming in the minds of two growing teenage boys and Semi did not hide his disapproval. Instead, he sighed loudly and had the urge to grab you right out of Tendou’s grasp.
“What do you plan on doing with just me tonight, Tendou?” You teased.
He only laughed and ignored your question, “So how about it?"
“I prefer to get my homework done before the weekend, so that’s what I’ll be preoccupied with tonight.” You answered and Semi smirked at your response.
He bristled at your retort and kept pushing, “Well. I know you like that cheesecake place downtown—”
“Can’t you take a hint, Tendou?” Semi asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Sorry, but once I lay my eyes on a beautiful girl there’s no way I’ll let her go.” Tendou affirmed and tightened his hold on your shoulders.
You blushed at his confidence, “Ha. Well, determination is a dangerous thing.” Semi noted your flushed appearance and the fact that you had not pulled away from his hold.
No way, not on his watch.
Your flustered looks and affectionate embraces were meant for him and him alone.
Was Tendou’s unwavering resolve really getting to you? The red-head would constantly shower you with compliments and it was only a matter of time that it would infiltrate your brain. Meanwhile, he would offer you vague responses and a sparse amount of sentiments.
With his mind made-up, Semi grabbed you right out of Tendou’s filthy arms and into his own. “Sorry. But she’ll be busy with me.” You were nestled underneath his neck and his arm was wrapped lightly around your waist.
The message he was sending was clear and if it was not, Semi sure as hell would be ready to provide more.
Instead of being heart-broken or defensive, Tendou immediately turned the situation around, “Busy doing what?” ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
“Staying the hell away from you.” Semi sassily replied and attempted to walk away with you in his grasp.
Tendou took the message in stride and went further to ship the two of you together for the rest of the schoolyear. The others must have received the message and they laid off from their previous flirting. Well, most of them. The only person unaffected by Semi’s wrath was the great volleyball idiot himself. But it was generally understood that he never really knew the implications of his actions.
Since then, there was no real progression in your public and private relationship with Semi. You hit every milestone with stride: prolonged hugs, kisses on the cheek, and even a sleepover when your roommate was away with her boyfriend. You were happy with how things were now and you feared if you talked about it, it would end. With no real reason to address the subject, the two of you continued with your relationship. He was there when you were sad and you surely did the same for him.
The second-year of high-school was your turning point. Your first-year friendship could be described as average, simply two members of the same game. Classmates and admirers of volleyball, you were cordial for ordinary reasons. After your injury, it was hard to personally connect with anyone.
But Semi could do what the others could not. Your second-year came with the introduction of Kenjirō Shirabu. He was a salty little douche and before the Spring High Tournament he was the official setter for the men’s volleyball team. The teammates that Semi had fostered and grown with since middle school were suddenly dragged away from him. And there was nothing he could do. His best was suddenly not good enough and he fell short to a first-year.
You connected on a level that the others could not understand. Being cut from a team was like being abandoned, but it was no one’s fault but your own. And that fact hurt more than anything. Try as you might, there was nothing either of you could really do to regain your prominence.
You found comfort in one another and it was highly noted by the other team members.
“What’s with the face?” Semi asked, noting your saddened facial expressions.
You paused and then sat-up, “We’re graduating this year.”
“Just because we’re leaving this school, doesn’t mean we’ll stop being friends.” Semi comforted. Friends… That word would continue to haunt you. You were friends, incredibly close with few secrets between the two of you. Your relationship was once in a lifetime and soon there would be more than emotional barriers separating you two.
It was not until the autumn formal that you recognized first-hand the complications of desire.
Someone asked Semi to the formal. And it had not been you. But he still said yes.
You heard this secondhand from Reon, a week after the girl had initially asked. Did he hesitate? Did he even think of you? Did he… have feelings for the girl?
She was someone unrecognizable from Ushijima’s class and you had spotted her after having lunch with just the ace. Social Media was a big thing and of course Shiratorizawa Academy had a team-spirit page that highlighted all sorts of shit. And of course, there were the posts about who was going with who to the formal. ((promposals cough))
You were unsure if you had ever seen her before. But after noticing her, you seemed to see her everywhere. She was beautiful in every way you were not – incredibly feminine and keeping up with her appearance. Flowing blonde hair that went past her elbows and she seemed to always sport a dress. Semi was not distant in any way and it seemed like he was never going to bring it up with you unless you took the initiative.
You asked once or twice about the girl and he waved off that she was very pretty and very determined. She seemed to exceedingly fancy him and would not take no for an answer. And he had no real reason to say no. No real reason. Your heart ached at his simple words. If you were no “real reason,” then you sure were not going to continue this way.
There was a month until the formal and that meant an entire month with having this loom over your head. Semi never indicated he wanted more than friendship and it seemed that was not enough for him. So you pulled away. This was hard since you sat together, but it was definitely different than usual.
You would brush off his invitations to hang-out, which was increasingly hard since you literally spent every waking day together. It hurt you, but it was a good wake-up call. If he did not think more of you, then it was about time you lessened this heavy dependence you had on him. It was an eventual problem that he would find a significant other, but now it was finally before you. You were no masochist and distanced yourself from the constant sorrow. On one occasion, you replied, “Why don’t you hang-out with your date instead?” It was petty and low, but true. You were being replaced. Why would he hang-out with you if he’s got another female on his line?
You addressed this with Reon, but he defended Semi saying that the two were only friends. Semi agreed on a whim, with no real intention of dating the girl or progressing as far as he had with you. But you denied this and stopped talking about it with the two altogether.
You were gleaning out the window, ignoring your lunch and sitting with the guess monster and his ace. “Stop frowning, (F/N)-chan. If it bothers you that much just talk to him.”
“Why should I even bother? He already made up his mind.” You pushed your already minute lunch away.
“Wow, giving up already?” Tendou mocked.
“It’s been three years. If he wanted to do something he would have.”
“You’re wrong, (F/N)-chan.” Salami countered, “Semi has already done something. He told me off, that’s for sure.”
“That was so long ago.”
“What have you done?” Ushijima interjected.
“I’ve never accepted any other man’s affection - not dates, chocolates, late-night talks.” You outwardly groaned and nearly slammed your head on the desk, “I’m about to graduate high-school and I’ve never been kissed.”
Even Tendou laughed at this fact, “Wow, (F/N)! I’d be willing to volunteer.”
You lifted your head to glare at him, “That is unnecessary.” Ushijima stated. “You have proven a great loyalty, it seems.”
“Great.” You mocked, voice dripping with sarcasm, “And this worked out so well for me.”
“It is a rare quality, one that I surely admire you for having.” You sat-up completely, back straight from surprise and eyes glued to the auburn-haired ace that continued eating like his words meant nothing. Even Tendou paused from his causal demeanor to narrow his eyes at Ushijima.
A grin reappeared on his face, one that surely spelt trouble, and he proposed, “Why don’t you two go to the formal together?”
You both paused and shared momentary eye-contact. His eyes appeared mostly impassive, but you had spent enough time with him to notice his questioning gaze. His left eyebrow was slightly upturned and you tilted your head in question.
“I cannot see an immediate reason not to.”
“Me neither."
“Then it’s settled!” Tendou got up to stand by the middle of the table, flippantly placing his hands on both of your shoulders, “Let’s send a post to the Shiratorizawa page so it’s official. Ah so cute, Waka and (F/N) at the dance together!”
Ushijima commented that was extremely superfluous, why should anyone care/know? You reasoned the same way, but Tendou claimed that it was not official until it was on the social media page. You both shrugged and prepared to pose for a picture over lunch.
“No, no. This looks totally lame.” He ended up dragging the both of you outside, in the middle of the quad during common hour. Tons of students were walking by and watched as Tendou modeled the two of you.
He settled on putting Ushijima’s hand on your waist and angled your front facing the ace. Your head was turned back towards the camera and you had a hand on his chest. This position was entirely intimate and even the dense Ushijima commented this, but Tendou waved it off. You wondered what crazy things Tendou could get his roommate to do.
Tendou was having a blast, taking multiple pictures from different angles on his phone. You wondered: how good could it possibly look? You were sporting your Shiratorizawa uniform and Ushijima was in his usual track-suit. You could hear the whispering and it seemed that posting the picture would be redundant, almost everyone saw the two of you posing like this!
The three of you returned back to your lunch table and upon sitting down, you received a brand new notification.

“Was it really necessary to send in all those pictures, Tendou?” You asked.
“They tell us to send multiple and they’ll pick the best one! Whoever the account owner is, they are the ones who decided on showing all of those!”
“But four?”
“I sent in ten. And four is the max they can post, so they must really like you guys.” Tendou teased. Almost instantly, you were getting more and more notifications.
People you had never met before were liking the post and it was embarrassing at how much attention this was garnering! You weren’t even dating! Your phone was constantly vibrating from Instabook and you muted the app entirely – you’d return to it later at the end of the day. Sadly, the volleyball team was quick to react too.

Reon and Semi were discussing the subject in the comfort of their private dorm. It was clear to the tan boy that you were bothered by Semi agreeing to go to the formal and not even telling you! It was only now that Semi was understanding this and he looked to his roommate for guidance.
“I already told that girl I’ll go with her…” Semi was attempting to sort his thoughts, “But I don’t want to hurt (F/N).”
“You don’t have to worry about that,” Reon interjected, “You already did that.”
Semi burrowed his head into his hands, “Does (F/N) think I’m replacing her? She means so much to me, that’s absurd.”
“You didn’t exactly tell her that you were going to formal with someone else.” Reon explained, “How would you feel if your closest friend was going to an intimate dance with a date that you never met before?” Semi massaged his temples further, feeling the oncoming migraine that usually came associated with a certain second-year setter.
His thoughts were unclear and the constant vibrating of both their phones were not helping his mental state, “What is happening?”
Reon browsed through his phone first and frowned, “Well. It seems a certain someone’s affection never fully disappeared from last year.”
Semi narrowed his eyes and picked up his phone to see your face splayed across the screen. A smile graced your face and it was clear who was the cause behind it. Ushijima’s smile was rare and came at random moments, but it was encased in memory through the photograph. He almost screamed.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” Semi threw his phone on the bed before collapsing face first into it.
“On the chat, it seems Tendou was the one who pushed them together.” Semi punched his pillow at the mention of the brash Salami. “And they’re not dating, just going to the dance together.”
Semi let out a string of incomprehensible words into his comforter. “This is Ushiwaka. He’s not like Tendou, with the endless list of crushes. He’s genuine all the time and complimented (F/N) without hesitation. As in, I’m fucked.”
Reon was inwardly rolling his eyes, it was only when Semi was entirely comfortable with the other person or very enraged that he let loose his short-tempered side. And it seemed Semi was both, right at this moment.
You broke off from Tendou and Ushijima to retreat back to your dorm room. Ushijima agreed to have dinner with you later, in hopes of coordinating your outfit for the formal. It seemed the post of the two of you was the most popular on the entire page and you would have to dress to impress the audience.
Upon entering, you were ambushed with questions from both your roommate, Reon, and strangely Shirabu.
“(F/N), what the fuck.”
“You better not hinder his abilities as ace!”
“Did you just come from lunch with him?”
You blinked at the assault and then sat-down. “One, we’re not dating. So I will not be a distraction for him, I assure you. This is mostly Tendou’s doing anyway.”
Shirabu nodded at the explanation and then walked towards the door, stopping to put a hand on your shoulder first, “Good enough. Have a good time then.” And with that he walked out of the room. Shirabu was a special type of kid, everyone knew. At least he had the best intentions at heart?
“Seriously?” Your roommate and captain of the female volleyball team asked, showing off her impeccable vernacular.
“Come on.” You threw your bag to the side of your bed.
“How did this even start?” She sat down on her own bed as Reon rested on your desk chair.
“I was talking about y’know, what’s been bothering me recently. And Tendou suggested that there was no real reason to stop Ushijima and me from going to the formal together.”
“And what? Ushijima just asked on the spot after that?” She asked.
“Yeah, pretty much. And then Tendou made a big spectacle of it by making us pose for a picture.”
“A top three ace in the entire country and 190 centimeter of pure man, and you are the one to have tamed him. Holy shit, good job.” She commended.
Your eyes nearly fell out of your head and Reon could not stop his sudden coughing fit. “We are not dating.”
“Just the pure fact that Ushijima had no reason to not ask you, wow.” She commented. “If it was any other girl he would have scroll of reasons that would hit the floor with a speech to go along with it.”
“There’s no way.” You countered.
“Do you honestly think there are no implications?” Reon asked.
“Yeah, if anything he’s doing it as a favor.” You answered offhandedly, realizing your mistake instantly. It was natural to speak candidly to the two. However, it was clear that Reon would die defending Semi and thus you stopped speaking to him previously about the situation.
“A favor?” He asked, just as you had thought.
You hesitated. It was not in you to lie and it was only a matter of time before Tendou gave further details to the rest about the situation. “We were talking about Eita-kun before he asked me.”
“What about Eita?”
“Just how really messed up this situation is.” You decided on being vague.
Reon did not take the hint and continued to push the subject, “Why is it messed up?”
“You know why,” You gave him that look, like really bro, “I guess that’s what I get for assuming.
“What did you assume?” Your roommate asked, this time.
“I stayed loyal to him and I never gave into anyone. Never accepted chocolates or dates or anything. And I just assumed he would do the same?” Reon sat back in the chair, obviously mauling over your words.
“Well that is mostly true, with the exception of one person.” Both you and your roommate shot him questioning looks, unsure where he heard that from. “Isn’t it true you did extra practice with Wakatoshi for a whole month?”
“I don’t think volleyball counts as accepting affection.” Your roommate countered.
“Do you see who we are talking about?” Reon explained, “Our beloved ace lives and breathes volleyball. And he shared a good amount of that time alone with you. If you wanted to practice so badly, why not with Eita? He was the official setter.”
“Because Ushijima asked me personally.”
“And you accepted. You voluntarily spent an extended amount of time with him, engaging in the sport he loves and you didn’t think anything of it?”
“Of course not! I would have accepted practice from anyone else on the team.”
“I think that’s where you do not understand.” Reon paused, attempting to fully devlop his next few words before conveying them to the two of you. “You’re treating this extremely casually. But these are all boys who had no problems with showering you with compliments last year. Take a step back and really think about the situation.”
Your roommate interjected, “Okay, hold on. So Tendou and the boys tried to carelessly compliment (F/N) and after that she accepted one of those boy’s request to spend time with him.”
“We are not talking about some irresponsible boy. This is Wakatoshi, the most serious and straight-forward idiot to exist.”
You were sat on the bed, hands currently encasing your head in obvious stress and over-thinking. “But that’s not how I saw it! Ohmyfuckinggod.”
“I suggest you amend the situation, (F/N)-chan.” Reon advised, “I left him alone in the dorm, please talk to him.”
But you were already out the door. You had a growing list of reasons why you were an idiot and this misunderstanding definitely topped the list. You had to tell Eita that Ushijima would never hold a place in your heart like he did. It was impossible for Ushijima to have feelings for you, that was definite. Ever since your unofficial parting from Eita, you had spending more time with the ace. However, you would often be expressing your sadness about Semi and he knew entirely about your feelings. Wakatoshi was a bro.
And it was important that Semi knew that.
You tapped on his door, rapid and loud enough that you were sure other people in the hall heard it. There was a light shuffling inside and it seemed like there were multiple voices.
Semi opened a slight crack of the door with narrowed eyes, but when they landed on you they widened with obvious shock. “(F/N), what are you doing here?”
“I think there’s been a misunderstanding. I was talking with Reon and I think I need to say something before I regret it. Can I come inside?” Semi scratched the back of his ear in thought and did not move to allow you in.
“Who’s at the door, Eita-kun?” And right before your eyes was the blonde date he agreed to go to the formal with.
Semi could literally see and feel your heartbreak. When your eyes traveled from her smiley disposition to him, he saw the narrowing – the pure anguish written across your face. It was something he never wanted to see ever again. The poor boy would do anything for you and it physically pained him that the cause of your sorrow was from him.
You swallowed your pride and yelled out, “I’m sorry for interrupting!” You ran down the hall, not caring that the door to Tendou and Waka’s room opened as you sprinted past it.
“Did you hurt her?” Wakatoshi asked a stunned Semi, who was standing in the middle of the hallway with a hand outstretched.
“I hate my fucking life.” Semi slapped a palm to his forehead. He had something to do first before he addressed you. He slammed the door behind him quickly, so neither volleyball players could throw questions at him.
“What was that?” The blonde girl asked, still standing and silently waiting for Semi. He had called her here a few minutes ago, saying that they needed to talk.
“We can’t go to the formal together.” Semi stated. “I’m really sorry if I’ve led you on.”
“Is it because of (L/N)-san?” She asked, smile still evident on her face. He nodded lightly. “You two honestly suit each other. Even I was surprised when you said yes to me.” She moved to the floor to grab her bag and leave, “May I ask, why did you agree to go with me?”
“I don’t know.” He sat on his bed and wanted to scream, it was rare for him to be so confused.
“You better get your shit together, Eita-kun.” She gave a small laugh and then exited the dorm.
There was no way that you were returning back to your dorm. You knew that your roommate and Reon would still be there and expecting details. You should have known! If you kept distancing yourself from Semi, it was only a matter of time that he found comfort in another person’s arms. You deserved this, really. You had been so petty and jealous without actually affirming your feelings to him.

17:29    From: Ushiwaka-sama!              Where are you???
The only place that you knew would be free of any volleyball idiots would be the on-campus caf outside of the nursing building. It only accepted money and not swipes from the meal-plan, which in itself was a turn-off from most of the volleyball teams. It was on the complete opposite side of campus from the gyms and you were sure that none of the people you knew were enrolled in medical-specific programs. Of course, everyone except from her.
It had been a full hour of dodged texts and missed calls when she neared your table. “Hi. You probably don’t want to talk to me of all people.” The blonde started, but still made a motion as if asking if she could take the empty seat across from you.
“You can have the seat. I was on my way out.” You grabbed your various things from the table, readying to leave.
“Wait, please just listen.” You paused in your movements and nodded, “Semi called me to his room to call off our date for the formal. He never meant to upset you and I’m sure he’s looking for you as we speak. Please give him a chance.”
“You don’t have to do this.” You interjected, “He said yes to you and I don’t want to take him away from you just because I am the one who is upset. You asked and he accepted your affection, something we never did. We’ve only ever been friends. With Semi, all I want for him is to be happy. He deserves all the happiness in the world, even if it’s not with me.”
Your eyes were wandering around during your speech, jumping from behind the blonde and your surroundings but never focusing on her. When you gazed back at her, she was holding a hand to her nose and lightly sniffling.
“You two deserve to be together!” She shouted, “Oh god I am so sorry for getting between you guys.”
Behind you, Semi was scouring the café in an attempt to find you. He spent too damn long thinking and not acting, it was finally time that he made his feelings known. Grabbing his phone on the way out, he called Tendou and Waka and neither boys knew where you were. A quick text to Reon and your roommate and they both asked why you were not with him. Semi sighed and continued in his search. Finally, he received a text from the blonde that she found you moping around here.
Semi could spot you in a crowd of rowdy volleyball players within seconds. He found your luscious locks of hair across the very person he left. Damn, he really owed that girl. She took rejection like pro and even took it a step further to keep you here until he arrived.
“Please, you have nothing to be sorry about.” You responded.
A pair of large hands slid to lightly weigh on your shoulders, “Can I interrupt?”
“Please do.” The blonde replied and quickly gathered her belongings. “I wish you two the best.”
Semi quickly took her seat and reached across the table to hold your hands in his. “You said you wanted to clear misunderstandings before you ran off. I need to do the same.”
His grip tightened and you squeezed back. “Let me start, since I owe you an explanation.” He nodded. “Eita-kun, you’re the only man I’ve ever had eyes for. Even if I spend time with Waka-kun or Salami, they’ve never meant more to me than just friends. You’ve always held the most special and largest piece of my heart.”
Semi smiled and moved his chair closer to yours. “I want you to know that I feel the same way. It’s rather small of me, but after you spent so much time with Wakatoshi… I wanted to test if you felt the same heartbreak I felt when I saw the two of you together. I realize now how spiteful that was of me, to the very girl I had feelings for.”
You placed a gentle hand on the side of his face, rubbing rather affectionately and he seemed to lean into it. “Looks like we’re a pair of idiots.”
“But now you’re my exclusive idiot.” He staked his claim and you wondered how his seat suddenly was right next to yours!
Semi nuzzled your nose with his own, smile enrapturing you for the oomph time. You closed your eyes and leaned forward, bumping noses until you felt the gentle touch of his lips against yours. You were entirely receptive, even moving further into his body to get the full scape of his silky lips. The tips of his hair were tickling the sides of your face. And you would kill to feel this sensation for the rest of your life.
His hands lost themselves in your hair, preoccupied with keeping a steady hold on the back of your head. You returned the embrace and he took that as an invitation to glide his lips against yours, silently asking for entrance. You moaned in answer and opened up slowly, but he took it entirely in stride – not skipping a beat.
It was only when a flash went off that the two of you broke apart, gasping for air.
“Holy shit!” Tendou yelled, Wakatoshi clapping not too far behind him. You flushed with embarrassment. God you moaned in public! “This one is for the page.”
You were about to interject when Semi stated, “Finally. Maybe now you bastards will get the message.”

Hot momma! Finally, it seems as though the couple everyone shipped together are finally official~ Hopefully we don’t have to mark this page as 18+ Tagged: Eita Semi and (F/N)(L/N) Attached: 1.jpg, 2.jpg / 3.gif
Semi led you back to his empty dorm, your roommate and Reon were bro’s and willingly offered to have a sleepover to give you two alone time. You were currently encased between his arms, legs tangled and speaking in low voices. He had you nestled beneath his chin, but most of your weight laid across his chest. Semi did not want this moment to end. He waited three years for this, it was a moment of love in the making. You laughed lightly in his arms, not a care in the world keeping you from him. You were both on cloud nine, basking in each other's presence. You never took Semi as a closet cuddle-whore, but you were not complaining. His arms encased you perfectly and you could not hold back from placing butterfly kisses across his chest. You loved him, it was only a matter of time that you found out.

Just incase you haven’t read these yet here is: Part 1  Part 2 and Part 4
Warnings: Strong language, implied sexual themes, implied depression, etc.

One of the very last things you had remembered, was the sweet smell of lavender surrounding you whole. It came from all sides as his track jacket, adorned with his scent was thrown over you, and his chest pulled you in so close you thought you would drown in him. How long you had been crying for before you had eventually passed out from it all? You had no idea. All you knew was that you felt warm, safe, and welcomed in his arms. He was big compared to you and warm, his scent brought you comfort, while also allowing you to let everything out at once. It was...Intense.

You laid in his chest for around three full minutes before passing out into his clutch. He gently rubbed his hands up and down your arms. Half of him was doing it to comfort you. The other half of him wanted to mark your clothes with his scent, For some reason in his Alpha mindset, it made sense that if you smelled like an Alpha then you would be treated well. Even in the end if it did or didn’t work, he let his instincts take over whatever he was currently doing, because he knew deep down, that his inner Alpha would be able to take care of such a distressed Omega. And that was his only goal right now.
Make you better.

Shirabu looked and watched as you had passed out in the arms of the first year wing spiker. His eyebrows furrowed slightly, even though he was a Beta and didn’t really understand the whole scent thing, due to the fact that his nose wasn’t as sensitive as Alphas and Omegas, he couldn’t usually tell how someone was feeling from their smell. However, this was different, he was able to smell a very sour and unpleasant one at that, and it was emanating from you. The other Betas on the team, Sagae, Yunohama, and Soekawa, along with the coach contorted their faces at the sour scent,
“You should take her to-” Shirabu was about to give Goshiki advice on what to do with you now that you were calm. However, he was cut off.
“Shut that fuck up.” Goshiki spat. He held you in his arms closer to him, if that was even possible. All Betas in the room, and Tendou looked away from him. He was an Alpha that gave them all a strict order, and the Alphas in the room backed off as well to give him space. Including Ushijima.
The purpled haired boy picked up your sleeping frame and kept his jacket around you. He turned and walked out of the gym to head down to the nurse to see if she could do anything for you. His eyes softened the moment he stepped out of the tense atmosphere of the gym and silently walked to the office.
“Tendou.” Ushijima said and turned to the red haired Omega.
“Yesssssss?” He cooed to the Apex Alpha.
    “What do we do?”

That night you woke up in one of the beds the nurse had in her office. You blinked a few times as the LED lights in the ceiling practically blinded you. You groaned softly and looked around the empty room. You were the only one in there, but the scent of warm lavender practically covered you like a blanket. You looked down only to see the white and purple colors of one of the track jackets that the boys have. ‘Goshiki’ You thought as you sat up and yawned a bit.
A few minutes later the nurse had come into the room and explained what had happened. You had to answer a couple of questions and do some light paperwork. However, once you were done, you got up and grabbed the track jacket.
“What happened to the boy who brought me here?” You asked her.
“He went back to his dorm. I’m sure you can return that to him when you see him again.” She said and put all of her paperwork into a file.

The next morning, you got ready for early morning practice. You slipped on your purple sweatpants and white t-shirt and grabbed your gym bag. You sighed softly. ‘Should I really be going back? After the way they treated me? After breaking down like that? I don’t like I can face them...,’ You thought as you walked along slowly. You glanced up at the gym as you walked to it. ‘What? The lights are on..,’ You thought. You heard someone shush some others who you could hear mumbling through the door. Then you pushed it open.
Everyone on the team stood there and looked at you when you walked in. Some looked away, some looked like they didn’t care, and others just kind of stood there as if they had to. Coach Washijo stood in the front, and walked forward towards you. It was intimidating, so you tensed up, preparing to get yelled at for causing a commotion. However, it never came.
“Tendou is the first Omega I have ever let into this gym.” He stated simply. “So we all will not get everything on the first try with you.” He reached behind him and pulled up a Shiratroizawa volleyball track jacket, and it was your size. “Welcome to the team.” He said simply before walking away. Then Ushijima stepped forward and placed his hand on your head.
“Welcome to the pack.” He stated simply. Then he turned. “Let’s get to practice!” He said sternly.
You couldn’t help but tear up at this. ‘I’m part of the pack. They just didn’t know how to treat me...I get it now...They didn’t understand...’ You thought to yourself as you held the purple jacket out in front of you. A small smile crossed over your face and you slipped on the jacket and hummed happily.
‘Good...She’s happy.’ Goshiki smiled softly and stared at you as you put on the coat and dwindled in your own thoughts. Seeing you smile made his heart flutter. It made him feel warm and happy. It was a feeling he couldn’t quite explain. He wanted to hold you close and protect you from everything, he wanted to kiss you, and court you. He has a soft blush as he thought about doing all those things. However, his thoughts were interrupted as a volleyball hit him in the back of the head.
“Ow!” He barked and turned around. “Who threw that?!” A couple members of the team snickered evilly.
“It shouldn’t matter who threw the ball, if you were paying attention, you would have gotten it.” Ushijima scolded in his usual tough act demeanor.

The rest of the day went by fairly well for you. Your classes had gone good and you smiled and laughed with your friend as they talked to you. Every now and again you would get a dirty look from another Omega that wanted a spot on the volleyball team. Honestly though, you could not care less. As you walked into your final class of the day, there was something waiting for you on your desk. You reached over and picked up the small piece of paper.
‘There’s 900 square feet in a volleyball court, and I would still find my way directly to you.’ And as you read it, you giggled at the cheesy line. The scent wafting off from the piece of paper was of warm vanilla, and your cheeks heated up as you realized who the note was from. You couldn’t help but feel your heart leap up into your throat. You gently slipped the note into your bag and waited for the rest of the day for practice.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
You had gotten to the gym before anyone else had as usual. You were making sure everything was ready when you heard the familiar sound of the gym doors opening and smiled as Goshiki walked in. Your cheeks were flushed but he had this confident look on his face. He walked over to you and crossed his arms. The purple haired boy smirked and held his head high, but there was no mistaking the pink tint on his cheeks.
“(F/N) (L-L/N)!” He said sternly. This made your cheeks turn pink and your body tense up a bit. “I-I would like to court you! A-and don’t try to stop me!” He said loudly. “B-because- I-I have my mind made up on it!” And as he spoke his cheeks turned more and more red. There was silence for a while, until your soft voice broke through the silence.
“I would love to be courted by you...,” You said softly with an equally pink face. You turned away from him. “I-I should get to work...,” You said quietly before heading into the storage room. And as you walked you heard voices come into the gym.
    “Good job!”
    “That’s how you do it!”
    “Proud of you!”
And you couldn’t help the small smile that spread across your face. ‘What a nice day to be in the gym...,’  You thought.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
And from that moment on, every single day, Goshiki made sure to spend as much time around you, and spoiling you as he could. He would come early to practices, like he usually did, and talk with you. During lunch, he would stop by your class and drop off a special treat like a cookie, or chocolate, or something sweet for you to have. During your last period, there would always be something on your desk. There was always a cute note, a small gift, or something along those lines. Then during practice in the afternoon, the two of you would make awkward eye contact and blush a bit. And you could have sworn that Goshiki tried hitting the ball a little harder when you were watching. It wasn’t like you would mind that at all, it made you feel special.
However, it wasn’t like you weren’t doing anything for him. Even though you didn’t spoil him with gifts and things, he already felt spoiled. You had asked him about it one day while you were setting up the gym. It had been about a week since the whole ‘courting’ thing had started.
“Goshiki...,” You said softly sitting on the bench next to him.
“Yeah?” He asked turning to you and tilting his head.
“Do you want anything? I-I mean you do so much for me...Y-you’re spoiling me...so...,” You trailed off with a blush. You looked down at your lap with the same blush that was slowly spreading across your face.
“Nah...,” He said and leaned back a bit with a small smile and rested his hands on the back of his neck. His smile was more of a thoughtful one. “I just think it’s in my biology...,” He blushed a bit more and turned away from you. “Seeing you smile is payment enough...As long as your happy and pampered, then count me the same way.” This made your cheeks flush in embarrassment.
Now you were here, sitting in your dorm and looked down at your phone. Living in a dorm meant that you needed to ask permission to do anything outside the premises. With both your and Goshiki’s busy schedules with volleyball, trying to find a time for the two of you to go on your first date with each other proved to be a bit difficult, especially because you couldn’t exactly up and leave Shiratroizawa. You sighed in your chair and leaned back. After a few minutes, your phone buzzed. It was a message from Goshiki.
‘Meet me in the soccer field in like 15 minutes.’ Was all that was written. You furrowed your eyebrows a bit in wonder of what he could want so late in the afternoon. However, you threw on some more presentable clothes than your school uniform and slipped on a sweatshirt, then you headed out of your dorm to the soccer field.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
After a few minutes of walking to the soccer field you saw something straight ahead. There were a few lights around something that you couldn’t exactly see. However, you continued forward to see what it was. As you got closer you were able to see everything clearly.
There was a big dark green blanket laid out on the grass. On all four corners were fake candles that were lit up so that you could see everything else. There was a basket with your favorite fruits in it and some sparkling water. You chuckled a bit and sat down next to the purple haired boy.
“What’s all this?” You asked softly and looked over at him.
“W-well!-,” He said in a more matter-of-fact kind of voice. “I’ve been courting you for about two weeks now a-and, I-I wanted to...to...,” He trailed off with flushed cheeks. Even though it was dark outside and the stars were out, you could still tell that he was blushing. “To ask you to be my girlfriend!” He said loudly. Your eyes widened and your own cheeks flushed. “I-I really like you!” He said and turned to you, sitting on his knees. “Y-your like...one of the cutest Omegas I ever met...a-and you smell really nice...a-and you make me so nervous! E-Even though I’m pretty confident in m-myself!” He paused and got a bit close to your face.
“O-of course!” You replied and sat up, facing him as well. “I-I really like you...,” You whispered and looked down at your lap.
However, you felt a knuckle slip under your chin. It was callused and rough from all the abuse his hands went through during practice. That knuckle gently lifted your head so that it was tilted up. You quietly swallowed as his face got closer to yours. The closer your faces got, the warmer they became, and the heavier your eyes became. It was like this until you felt gentle lips graze across your own as if testing the waters. Your heart felt like it was going to pop out of your chest. And soon Goshiki felt more confident and kissed you fully. One of his fingers remained under your chin, and the other gently rested against your cheek. Your hands however and crawled up and wrapped around his neck. The kiss was a bit desperate from both of you, and filled with want. The scent of warm lavender along with your own scent mixed together in a cloud around the two of you. Goshiki broke away from you and blushed as he held your face in his hands.
“I love you Omega.” He said, adding on the ‘Omega’ to show you he really meant it.
“I love you too Alpha...,” You whispered before leaning in for another kiss underneath the light of the stars and moon.

❖“Good Morning Guys… where is the rest of the team?” I raised a brow as I started at the only three males on the volleyball team here. “They got in trouble.” Pinching the bridge of my nose, I sighed. “Why didn't we cancel practice?”
❖“Then we wouldn’t see our dear manager all month. We would have to wait till who knows.” Tendou threw an arm over me, while Semi snatched the bag from my hands. “What are these for?” Taking the bag back, I walked towards Ushijima, who was currently sitting down, going over the new training schedule I made. “Y/N, did you customize them?” I nodded, slipping my hand inside the bag and pulling out a maroon Santa hat and put it on his head.
❖“Christmas stuff!” Ushijima looked up at me, as I smiled and pulled out reindeer ears. Tendou gladly putting them on and grabbing the red markers and drawing a large red circle on his nose.
❖ “Semi. Semi~” He glared at me with crossed arms. “I'm not putting those on.” Staring at him, I held out the ears. Watching his scowl twitch before he snatched them from my hands. “Only this once.”
❖“So I'm Santa Claus. Ho Ho Ho.” Ushijima practiced him saying ‘Ho Ho Ho’ while Tendou had interlocked arms with Semi and was prancing around singing about being loyal reindeer. “Wait, we don't have presents.” Tendou stopped dancing and singing, crossing his arms, before darting into the storage room. “What are you doing!?”
❖A random shiver was sent down my spine, I started to walk away. “Where you going, Manager?” Semi stood in front, Ushijima behind me. A scream left my mouth as they grabbed me and carried me towards Tendou, he now had a big empty bag at held extra volleyballs and a ribbon? “N/N can be the present.” Struggling to move, Tendou tied the bow around my head, making it cover my edges. “Don't you put me in that bag?” Semi and Tendou held the bag open, allowing Ushijima to place me inside, and hoisted onto his shoulders. My head being the only body part out of the bag.
❖“Laps. I swear to God. 100 laps, I hope you get sick.” Staring over Ushijima’s shoulder, Tendou forcing Semi to have his hands on his shoulders, making them connected, Ushijima gripping Semi’s while his other the bag, with me in it.
❖“Tendou the red-nosed reindeer-” We all sang along as the three pranced around the gym before the door slid open and the rest of the team appeared.  “What’s going on.” Soekawa stared at us, Goshiki looked at us, then the bag. “Is this team bonding?”
❖“No. I've been kidnapped.”
❖“They're the team present.”
❖“No.”

Hello! I really love your writing and I just saw your requests are open yay 👏🏻 So my idea is that the reader (female or neutral, as you prefer it) is a third year who takes art lessons as an extracurricular subject or something and the teacher ask their students to draw posters of the sport teams, and the reader got the volleyball team. The thing is the reader knows the third years but they're not really close, so they talk just a bit. (Part 1)

↪︎ in which you painted a muse who always wanted you too
a/n: definitely not my best work and im super sorry for that, but i hope you still enjoy it 👉🏻👈🏻
Tumblr media
a warm spring breeze blew strands of your hair in front of your face, laying against your rosy cheeks as you watched the horizon. the bright yellow sun teased the sky with hues of pink and orange, bound to mix into the darkness of the sunset. school had ended a few hours ago and now you were sitting in your art club waiting for your teacher to dismiss you. she was in a middle of a spiel explaining your next art project, but your brain struggled to follow.
your hand ached from drawing for hours, your wrist tender from constant pressure, and now you could’ve sworn you were going to get carpal tunnel sooner or later. it was worth it, anyway, you were doing what you liked doing as you honestly felt being an artist was your only talent. it was merely the only thing you focused on besides your academics. dating was certainly out of the question.
instead, you watched the birds fly past the open classroom window as your teacher explained the assignment something along the lines doing sports teams posters.
“i will be walking around the classroom with a box filled with names of sports clubs,” the teacher starts, pulling you out of your train of thought as your attention was finally set on her. “you will pick a random piece of paper from the box and that will be the sports team you will be making a club poster for.”
whispers erupted in the room as others verbalized which team they wished to get.
“i hope i get the volleyball team, they’re literally iconic.” you heard one girl say.
another voice exclaimed, “drawing the equestrian team sounds super fun too!”
the murmurs continued to the buzz even after the majority of the class had already picked out their sports team from the box. you were the last one to choose as you opted to sit in the back of the class.
“and last but not least,” said your teacher as she serpentine through the desks towards your sitting figure.
your hand dug into the small cardboard box only to feel one last piece of paper. you wanted to scoff slightly, but you stopped yourself the moment you grabbed the last slip of paper and read the messy handwriting. it took you a good second to even understand what it said as it was complete chicken scratch (no offense to the teacher).
“(y/n), what did you get?” your friend who sat in front of you turned with a smile on her face.
"i got the volleyball club,” you answered, eyes widening when your friend gasped.
“that’s literally the best one to get! i’m so jealous,” she sighed as if she just inhaled a rose scented breeze.
perhaps you were lucky to get such a sought after sports team as your main focus for the assignment, but you couldn’t help but feel an overbearing weight suddenly falling upon your shoulders. shiratorizawa’s volleyball team was the epitome of the academy. they were the ones who brought a significant name to the school with only the smartest of intellects but one with the best athletes. depending on how well you created this poster could potentially make or break your reputation. it was a visual representation of the team, anything less than iconic would dig a deeper hole for you.
it certainly doesn’t help the fact that you actually had to talk to the volleyball team now that you were in charge of their school poster. you internally groaned. you barely interacted with the third years, let alone being completely enamored over a familiar red-head.
your after school activities had ended in the midst of your running train of thoughts as you absentmindedly gathered your things and walked out of the classroom. you gripped the handle of your bag as you strolled through the near-empty hallways of the academy, your mind in a complete spiral as you had already tried visualizing what the end product might look like.
it was common knowledge to everyone who had known about you was well aware how amazing you were at art. no matter what medium you were given, you were known to be the girl who had magical hands that could create even the most beautiful things out of ash and smoke. you had this some innate, almost magical ability to have others stop in their tracks just to admire your works.
perhaps that you were too caught up in your own thoughts and the hypnotic tapping rhythm of your loafers clicking against the school floors that you hadn’t even notice your arrival towards the gym.
even the loud shouts of volleyball players from the ongoing practice wasn’t enough to pull your gaze away from the ground and towards the flying volleyball hurdling towards you.
“(y/l/n), watch out!” you heard a familiar voice shout out, immediately pulling you out of your own jungle-like psyche and into the real world.
everything had happened so quickly, all you knew was a blur fly past you to retrieve the ball before it knocked out of conscious. semi eita quickly turned to you, his figure greatly towering over you as he gave you a reassuring smile. “are you okay, (y/l/n)?”
you gulped, nodding almost too quickly. “yeah, i’m okay.”
“good,” he mutters as his brows slightly furrow in confusion. there was a thin blanket of awkwardness hovering above both of your heads as you both stood there in silence for a good five seconds—five seconds too long that is. “so what brings you here?” he finally breaks it, scratching the back of his head in the mean time.
right, you had almost forgotten why you were here in the first place.
“it’s about the art club, we’re doing sports team posters and i was wondering if i could talk to the third years for ideas.” you asked gently.
semi’s eyes immediately widened, the already prevalent smile on his face only increased at the statement. “that’s cool! come with me, i’ll show you to them.” he quickly motioned you to come inside the gym, feeling the brisk air difference of the air conditioned gymnasium to the warm spring breeze outside.
a shiver flowed down your back. not from the sudden influx of cold air surrounding your body, but the fact that towering volleyball players and their ever-so-intimidating nature causing nervous habits to take over you. soekawa jin, the vice captain of the team quickly flickered a look towards you before tapping ushijima’s arm for his attention. turning to see what his teammate wanted, soekawa swiftly pointed at you and semi approaching.
“it’s a surprise seeing you here, (y/l/n).” ushijima greets you in his deep, guttural voice. it caused you to gulp nervously, struggling to even put on the tiniest of smiles as you meekly muttered a ‘hi’ to the rest of the third years. however, it seemed as if the one you were most familiar with was not in sight. it did seem a tad bit quiet in the gym now that the practice game was on a time out.
“um,” one of the wing spikers approached you, ohira reon was it? “sorry for almost hitting you, by the way.”
you swiftly shook your head, “no, it’s okay. i was the one who wasn’t playing attention, so that’s on me.”
“so, you’re here for the poster?” ushijima cut into it like a sharp knife, bold and straight to the point.
“yeah, um, i just stopped by to ask if you guys had anything ideal you want to see on your club poster.” your voice was softer than you hoped it would be when you spoke.
eyebrows furrowing, ushijima glances among his teammates as provocation for an option saturated his hums of curiosity.
semi then clears his throat, “we’re not really sure if we have any input for you, (y/n). besides, i think your poster will be amazing nevertheless.”
“that’s still a lot of pressure,” you mutter, “considering i would be mauled to death if this poster isn’t amazing.” sarcasm drenched your words like saccharine, hoping that the tall athletes would at least get your banter and share a laugh with you.
but they didn’t. instead, they stared with wide eyes at you in a mere worrying glance. perhaps the joke didn’t exactly translate well.
god, this is so awkward.
however, it wasn’t like you were exactly lying. as the face of shiratorizawa academy, you were aware that they needed to look good and if it were any less than that, you might never see the light of day ever again. not to mention you always liked adding twists to your artwork, which was technically the only reason why you were so infamously known to have such amazing works. but in the past half hour, you’ve came to the conclusion that it possibly isn’t the best option in this case.
“i’m kidding, by the way,” you let out a light huff.
“well, if it helps you in any way, you could always focus on ushijima as he is our ace.” soekawa cuts in, patting the captain’s back the moment he braided his arms over each other.
any form of leftover conversation (or lack thereof) was sliced—cut off from the sudden opening of the gymnasium doors and the (quite obnoxiously) loud middle blocker. tendou satori entered the giant gym with a bright beaming face of glimmering lights and cherries. tendou was perhaps one of the first people to talk to you the moment you entered this academy, eyes glazed in a honey-like optimism with every bright ‘hello.’ you always tended to be the quiet and secluded one in your classes with him despite being known to be infamously sardonic, you seemed to be the only one to which his overly comic ways of banter didn’t annoy you like it did with others. he, himself, was a sunray, and yet you couldn’t bring yourself to expose that thought as your eyes fall onto the approaching boy.
out of all the third year volleyball players, you and tendou had talked the most, yet considering you two as more than just mere acquaintances was a bit of a reach.
“yo!” the redhead’s loud voice thundered throughout the gym and you could already feel it echo within your heart.
“you’re back,” mused ohira with his hands on his hips. “are you okay?”
“yeah,” tendou says, fixing the loosened athlete’s tape over his fingers. “but the school nurse was already gone by the time i got there, so i had to fix myself up—oh hey, (y/n)!” he had cut himself off the moment his eyes fell upon yours.
your breath had hitched the moment he greeted you. it was as if your heart had immediately jumped into your throat and prevented you from even muttering a word as you can already feel your palms getting clammy. “hey,” you mutter almost in a whisper.
“so what are you doing here?” questioned tendou as his eyes suddenly widen the moment the words came out of his mouth, “uh-that sounded really rude, um—i actually meant that in the nicest way possible, by the way.”
you couldn’t help but chuckle at his sudden burst of scattered thoughts, noticing a faint flush of pink upon his cheeks.
“she’s here for the club poster,” ushijima answers in your place as you seemed to not answer even after a beat had passed.
“oh nice! i’m sure it’ll look really cool!” the middle blocker grinned at you to which a sudden wave of monarch butterflies attacked your gut. you could even feel the heat coursing through your cheeks and all the way to the tips of your ears until they were as red as tendou’s hair.
“hopefully,” you modestly commented, eyes then falling upon tendou’s wrapped wrist and couldn’t help but be filled with curiosity. “what happened to  you?”
the middle blocker shook his head dismissively. “i tried blocking one of ushijima’s spikes again, but as you know, it is a bit impossible and i ended up hurting myself. it’s no biggie, though.” he shrugs.
“t-that’s amazing.” you breathed out before you could catch yourself. and you swore, you saw the light pink hues of blush upon tendou’s face had darkened.
how cool, you thought with the stars in your eyes. the thought was a bit controversial, but you couldn’t but find tendou satori cooler than ushijima at that very moment. the fact that he knew very well how difficult and painful it was to block his spikes, tendou still attempted it to the point at the cusp of being injured. you began fiddling with your fingers for far too long as you’ve come to realize how long you were standing there for no more reason. you mentally face palmed as you cleared your throat, “anyway, if you guys do have any preferred ideas let me know before friday.”
before the boys could even say a proper goodbye, your legs were already carrying you towards the exits of the gymnasium as if it was running on autopilot. she did hear their shouts of good lucks from across the room as your long strides pushed you to quickly leave.
why was i so awkward for?
Tumblr media
in retrospect, perhaps you were more nervous than you thought. it had been an entire week since you had received the assignment to create a club poster for the volleyball team and there hadn’t been a night filled with peaceful sleep. instead, they were brimming with 2am moments of inspired antics. working on the large poster filled you with nothing but utter confidence even after it was finished, but now that you were actually at school with the rolled up poster of the incredible volleyball team, you couldn’t help but feel waves of reluctance and insecurity.
it was always like this with you. where everything was fine and your confidence within your works were expected, but the moment you did have to present such things, you couldn’t help but think of what you should’ve done differently. you assumed that you could’ve improved your mixed media skills by a little bit as there wasn’t much you could’ve done either way in that murky little head of yours that obviously lacked sleep.
the hallways of shiratorizawa were still pretty empty as it was still quite early in the morning. most of the students were outside anyway, so you quickly took this chance to unroll the large poster. taking some push-pins from the side pocket of your school bag, you hung the poster up in it’s place.
you breathed out one last sigh of ichor before picking up your bag and walking away from the masterpiece.
throughout the entire day, you had come across dozens of stares of others as you walked through the hallways, bringing your endless sea of nerves to heighten until you were dragged upon its tides. there were whispers everywhere. they were probably talking about your poster for the volleyball club and immediately you felt drowned in sorrow.
within a snap, had already thought of the worse possible outcomes that others were talking about how terrible of a job you did. perhaps that leap of faith, that tiny step out of the box when creating your poster was too much of a risk that you ended up falling to your own demise.
“(y/n)!” a voice called from behind you.
turning over your shoulder, you saw a familiar redhead making his way towards you in a bright amble. you immediately felt your heart drop as you whip your head back around and started to walk away.
shit, shit shit. you thought, tendou was definitely not the first person you wanted to talk to you when the possibilities of what he had to say to you was tangling in your psyche. as if they were tangled vines yearning to be untangled for his closure and yet, you refused.
your shoes clicked rapidly against the floors of the school when suddenly your wrist was pulled back, turning towards his familiar tall figure.
your direct gaze was on his chest, but you couldn’t bring yourself to look up upon his eyes. you couldn’t, at least. as if you were, your face would resemble something similar to a tomato.
“listen, tendou.” you muttered, still not attempting to meet his gaze. “i’m kind of late for class, but if you want talk later then we can—”
“no, i want to talk now,” he stated seriously, almost too seriously as it caused you to look up to him in surprise.
your mouth gaped to say something, yet nothing seemed to come out.
“i just wanted to say thanks for the poster.” tendou says as his breath almost hitched from the mere sight of you. he could recall the rushing feeling of blood coursing towards his cheeks and ears the moment he stepped upon school grounds and saw your poster. there his painted figure was, stood more prominently than the rest of his team. it was as if he needed the taste of sweet-tongued cough syrup just to ease his aching cheeks from smiling so hard.
the feeling was amazing. that from the smallest little action of you focusing on him rather than what he thought was going to be ushijima (like always) it was you who chose him. the loud middle blocker over the incredible ace of shiratorizawa. he knew validation wasn’t everything, and yet, his immense feeling of being at the top of the world certainly didn't help the fact that he had always been in love with you. you and tendou had the same class each and every year, that each first day of school, he would always sit giddily at his desk just so he could watch your angelic figure walk in.
in spite of it all, from his loud and upfront nature, he could never bring himself to even talk to you everyday besides an occasional ‘good morning’ whenever you would walk in. perhaps seeing this poster of himself was a little push into the deep end—to finally grow the guts to spill his unspoken epiphanies of built up feelings for once.
“usually, it’s ushijima who’s the face of the shiratorizawa team, but it’s nice seeing a change.” continued the middle blocker on the cusp of rambling, “i really didn’t expect you to focus it on me though, so that was a surprise... which by the way,” he hesitates as if he was do embarrassed to even ask. “why did you choose me?”
you pursed your lips the moment your breath was snatched from your lungs. “um,” you sighed, your mind speedily trying to come up with a plausible answer—something other than perhaps inevitably revealing you feelings for him, “i just think you’re really cool.” was all you could come up with and quite honestly, you wanted to face palm yourself for how stupid it probably sounded.
but to tendou, it was an absolute godsend. his heart thumped rapidly against his rib cage as his cheeks reddened into crimson wine. he didn’t know what else to say afterwards as that was his final push. it was then the idea popped inside his mind. a cheeky smile melted upon his lips as he patted your head gently.
“you’re an amazing artist, (y/n).” he complimented, amused by the fact he was the one who caused your reddening face before turning his heel and waving, “see you tomorrow!”
“u-uh, see you?” you stammered over his sudden departure, briefly waving before hold your hand to your chest. you felt as if your heart was to inevitably combust at the sudden overflow of ardor and vehemence of tendou satori’s actions.
a sigh left your peachy lips, why am i feeling like this?
Tumblr media
tendou could’ve sworn he had enough time to make it back to practice before stirring up any suspicions from his team, but the unfortunate tides have come across and drenched him in ill-fate—all gross and sticky.
ever since seeing your poster of him the day before, the thought of you had been on the middle blocker’s mind enough that even ushijima noticed his change in demeanor.
“what’s up with him?” the captain asked semi as they watched the redhead stumble into the gym.
“i think it’s about (y/l/n),” he answers in a hushed voice in case the disorganized tendou somehow heard. “he’s been in love with her since first year and seeing the poster of him is finally forcing him to make a move.”
ushijima refrained from chuckling, “so all it took was a poster with him as the center instead of me?”
“yeah, pretty much.” says semi.
tendou had been non-stop running back and forth between his classroom, the gym, and the art room after that burst of serendipitous ideas clouded his brain until it was all he could focus on. he had already missed the beginning of practice just so he could do something special for you for when he does muster up the courage to confess.
it was something along the lines of returning the favor of what you did to him, but he was well aware of the fact that he was a volleyball player for a reason and not an artist. honestly, most of the work was done with the help of you friend from the art club to which she basically did the drawing and tendou just colored it in. however he liked to think that it was the thought that counted, either way.
“sorry i’m late,” the missing middle blocker finally appeared. he was trying to catch his breathe as he rested his arms upon his bent knees. perhaps he quite disliked how gigantic the shiratorizawa campus was when it came to this. “i had to take care of something.”
ushijima gave semi an amused look before hardening his gaze on tendou, he tried not to laugh as he cleared his throat to hide that fact. “what’s more important than volleyball practice?” perhaps in the ace’s rarity, he was in the mood to tease the guy. “a girl?”
and immediately, the look on tendou’s face—of complete and utter fear that his captain would potentially punish him with extra conditioning was going to be the death of him—was instead replaced with chuckles him ushijima and semi.
“i’ll leave you off the hook as this was your first time missing a practice, not to mention you missed it for a girl you’ve liked for three years now.” said ushijima surprisingly out of character, than even he found himself shocked by saying it. “but if you miss another practice for (y/l/n), you’ll have extra conditioning everyday before and after school.”
tendou nods rapidly, “yessir!”
the rest of the day was filled with the sound of firm volleyballs being hit and slapped across the gym before falling to the floors with a coupled thud.
and despite trying his very hardest to focus his mind upon the practice game, he couldn’t help but let his thoughts wander to you in your bright enormity. his mind was on you, and yet he was playing the game harder than ever with each and every block he endured. perhaps it was the nerves, the aching adrenaline that flowed through his veins at the mere thought of  confessing to you by the time practice ended fueled his fire.
even if this was just a practice game against his own teammates, he was going to win for you and leave the gym with a confident aura enough to give him the guts to walk up to you.
the thing is, the game had already ended before he knew it. his side of the court had won and reached 25 points before he could even blink with the fact that he was in a ready stance even after the whistle had been blown.
“tendou,” ushijima called out to the redhead. “good luck.”
with that, the middle blocker’s head had cleared as he gave a smile to the setter. he walked over his bag, snatching it up and over his shoulder as he grabbed the rolled up poster within his clammy hands.
god, i’m was nervous. he thought to himself as he walked out of that gym.
the loud, boisterous guffaws from the rest of his teammates faded and echoed into oblivion as he walked the opposite way from everyone else. as the rest were going home, it was him who was on his was to your classroom. he had heard from your friend that you had cleaning duties today after school and it was the perfect time to just swallow his pride and just say.
but his actions were definitely faster than his thoughts as he had impulsively slammed the classroom door open without thinking.
you had thrown a shocked glance at the redhead at the sudden harsh action as he had thrown an embarrassed smile at you. chuckling at that adorable look on his face, you quickly set you mop aside. “tendou? what are you doing here? is your practice over already?”
the redhead nods, “yeah, just a couple minutes ago—um, i-uh just wanted to uh—”
he sighed frustratingly. this was the first time that the tendou satori—the third year infamously known for his innate way of speaking to others in such bright confidence for once, had his tongue tied. the reason why was obvious. it was because of you and your beaming eyes and that godforsaken smile of yours that made him go utterly crazy.
he was still trying to find the right words to say when your gaze fell upon the rolled up poster within his shaking hands. “what’s this?” you asked innocently as your hand reached for the poster and took it out of his hands without much force.
“w-wait! that’s—!”
you unrolled the poster, honey glazed your irises as your mouth gaped slightly.
it was you. a painting of you sitting under one of the large trees on one of the campus’s courtyards, sketching who knows what along with tendou’s large handwriting sprayed at the top:
WILL YOU GO OUT WITH ME, (Y/N)?
you breath was snatched out of your throat as you flickered your widened eyes up to him. red and pink hues adored tendou’s cheeks and ears, scratching the back of his head as his chestnut eyes refused to meet yours. if he were to look at you then and there, he would immediately melt into a puddle of blossoming cherries.
“did you make this for me?” you asked gently, still absolutely moonstruck at the poster. it was a simple painting that was definitely not drawn entirely by tendou as you could tell your friend had something to do with it, but you couldn’t help but be absolutely astonished that he even went out his way for this. “i love it,” you whispered, capturing tendou’s attention.
“y-you do?” the redhead huffs in disbelief.
tendou was closer to you, more than you were comfortable with, but you didn’t fight it off. you didn’t bother giving a little space between you two. “i was serious when i always thought you were cool. you were the only one out of that group of popular kids to talk to me and was actually nice about it.” you suddenly professed. your consciousness mentally slapped you over and over again from the embarrassment of saying such a thing. and yet, the signal in her mind didn’t releasse itself until the moment you felt your eyes fall upon tendou’s chamomile lips. and to your peachy ones, did tendou even dare to think of the impossible, of the serenity that filled them under your blushing cheeks,
“i really like you, (y/n)... and i have for a while now.” he muttered.
you bit your lip at the sudden downpour of feelings that you didn’t even notice yourself clutching and perhaps accidentally crumpling the poster he made. “me too,” you said in a mere whisper, your gaze flickering back down to the floor. “and to answer your question... yes, i will go out with you, tendou.”
the redhead felt his breath hitch in his throat, pausing with his eyes almost wide and doe-like when he looked at you underneath the last rays of the setting sun. he let’s out a bright chuckle, “cool.” he attempted to act casually only to break the moment he found your embrace.
you gently laughed as it muffled within his chest, “cool.” you repeated.

Ushijima X Reader
So this is a really cute lyric scenario I wrote for Ushijima. Hope y’all like it :)
bold = song lyrics
italics = dialogue
!!! WARNING: SELF-LOATING/DEPRESSION/SLIGHT NSFW CONTENT BELOW THE CUT!!!
I wish you could climb inside my head So you could see what it means When I'm so cold Feeling so low Horrible
People would often tell y/n that Ushijima cared about her very little. If at all. The only thing he cared about was volleyball, and it would always be number one in his life. His main focus, his goal, his accomplishment, was volleyball; everything that Ushijima did, said, or thought about, was volleyball.
He could never have time for an average student like y/n, but somehow she had ended up dating him. No one knew the story behind how they got together. All that the students of Shiratorizawa knew, was that the girl had started to stick by Ushijima's side; Ushijima never complained about his parasite, nor did he ever tell her to go away. Sometimes, students would report seeing him wrap his arms around her, or kiss her, but those were never verified and were passed off as rumors.
Shiratorizawa only knew that Ushijima didn't care about anything more than he cared about volleyball. But private things are always hidden from the public eye, behind the walls of rumors and lies that had been built up like plaque.
-
Ushijima sat against the wall of his bedroom, his head in his hands and his eyes screwed shut. His fingers gripped and released on his chocolate brown strands of his hair as he felt the alternating waves of grief and loathing hit him.
It had been almost a month since Shiratorizawa had lost to Karasuno at the Spring High-Miyagi Prefecture Representative Playoffs. He thought it was impossible to lose to a rag-tag team of unpredictable, inconsistent, unnecessarily overconfident underlings.
He clenched his jaw as he thought of the one player on their team, the tallest one, who had blocked one of his spikes. If he was going to lose to someone, at least let them be an experienced volleyball player with actual technique instead of some first year with height as his only advantage.
He hugged his knees to his chest and rested his forehead onto them, his eyes as wide as dinner plates as he had another attack. The attacks had been coming about twice every day; they'd entail a tightening of his chest, a feeling of drowning and being unable to breathe, and the aftermath of feeling worthless. Ushijima didn't like the attacks, and he hated even more that Tendou knew about them. The first attack he'd had was right in front of Tendou on the walk back to the Ushijima residence. Tendou had had experience with these attacks, and helped him through it. Ushijima could only thank Tendou for always being there for him, not letting the feelings of total embarrassment and helplessness surface.
The rest of the team had mostly gotten over the shock of the loss; Soekawa, Yamagata, and Eita were already making preparations for university, Ohira was looking over his scholarship options, for both volleyball and academics, and still trying to decide where to attend, and Tendou was just being Tendou—not a single care in the world. Except for his worrying over Ushijima.
Everyday for the past month, Tendou would walk Ushijima home, making sure he got there in one piece. Tendou had noticed Ushijima's silent fall into the intense brooding after the loss, and thanked whoever was watching over Ushiwaka that he hadn't fallen into a depression. Ushijima didn't get depressed, he got determined, but this state of mind that he was currently in wasn't determination—it was complete and utter disappointment.
Tendou knew how Ushijima felt, he didn't like losing to those crows either, not one bit. But Tendou had a tendency to let things go and let things be, the universe worked in mysterious ways that he could never even begin to understand. So Tendou tried to take Ushijima's mind off the loss and get prepared for the university he was going to attend on a full scholarship for volleyball. He also tried to help Ushijima focus on his schoolwork, and he tried to help Ushijima understand that things didn't always work out the way they were expected to. But Tendou felt that he was simply getting nowhere; he couldn't put an end to Wakatoshi's attacks, no matter how hard he tried. So he called in the big guns.
The only other one who knew about Waka's attacks was Ushijima's little sister's tutor, who was also in Ushijima's class. Ushijima liked her a lot, finding her to be respectful, attentive, kind, and easy going. She wasn't always squealing about the latest gossip or trying to catch a guy's attention like the other girls at Shiratorizawa. Not to mention she was quite beautiful. Everytime she would come to tutor his little sister, Ushijima made sure he had time to walk her home. Sometimes he'd even invite her to study with him.
Wakatoshi's father knew about his slight crush on the tutor, and had already given his approval, spurring Waka on to confess to the girl after the Spring Preliminaries. The plan was to win, of course, and then confessn while Waka was on a roll of victory. He had even invited her to the game so he could do it right after, not wanting to spare another moment. But there had been a horrid turn of events, and after the loss, Ushijima was the first one on the bus back home, not even texting her to tell her had left. He couldn't bear to see her when he was in this state of mind of thinking himself deplorable and unworthy of her attention.
Wrapped up in his thoughts, Ushijima didn't notice her enter his room, jumping when she laid a hand on his shoulder. He still had that feeling of not being able to breathe, and she knew that he was having one of his attacks. She sat directly in front of him and placed her hands on his legs, staring at him with worried eyes. Minutes passed, and she heard Wakatoshi's breathing return to normal, so she enveloped him in a hug, kneeling beside him and wrapping her arms around his body, resting her chin on his head. She feared he wasn't going to return the hug, but before she knew it, strong arms were squeezing the air out of her, daring to never let go.
Give it to me, (3x) Give it to me baby, Now show me your love
She released him from her embrace and started to stroke his hair. Tendou called and told me to check on you. He said you were still having a hard time.
How on earth does Tendou have your number? Ushijima retorted, his usually deep and monotone voice was currently quivering and laced with self-loathing. It broke y/n to see her prince this way.
Because we both love you, and the people who care for someone have to stick together and meet regularly to come up with ways to annoy or please the person they love. y/n joked quietly, still running her hands through Wakatoshi's short hair. He looked up at her, his eyes red and puffy, but more relaxed upon seeing her smile. y/n had always loved the way that Ushijima's hair color matched his eyes. They were like chocolate, hard when first unwrapped, but if let out in the sun for a while, it'll melt in your hands. It fit Ushijima perfectly.
When y/n first met the intimidating ace of Shiratorizawa, it was during a group project assigned in Physics class. She was grouped with Ushijima, Eita, and one of her own friends. She remembered that was when Ushijima developed his crush on her. Wakatoshi was never one to express his emotions if it wasn't necessary, but the feelings of having a crush on someone and thinking they were just so beautiful and so perfect that he just wanted to crush them in a hug and never let go were new to him. So it became very obvious when he developed a crush on her. He'd stumble over his words, blush a bunch, and actually smile. Eita told the rest of the team about Wakatoshi's smile, saying it was a little bit creepy at first, but also the eighth wonder of the world.
I'm fine. Ushijima said, releasing y/n from his grip and beginning to stand up. Once he was in his feet, the strength in his calves wavered, causing him to stumble back a little, but y/n caught him as best she could to keep him stable.
You don't look fine. y/n observed, noting Ushijima's pale skin, sunken eyes, and the slight beginnings of a belly. Say, Ushi, when was the last time you've played? Or worked out?
Before I lost to Karasuno. Ushijima began to shuffle around his room, tidying up a bit; he was slightly embarrassed that y/n had to see him this way and had to see his neglected room. He wanted to be his best and look his best for her, but currently he was at his worst. He couldn't understand why she cared so much about a loser like him.
We should make plans to go to the gym this week, no?  y/n stretched and plopped down on Wakatoshi's desk chair. He looked at her like she was crazy. He knew she was athletic, playing volleyball and basketball when their respective seasons rolled around, but he didn't think she was the type to hang around a gym. What? Well, I guess not many couples go to the gym together.
Ushijima blinked. y/n blushed slightly at the confused stare he was giving her.
Did you just say "couple"? Ushijima asked slowly, sitting down on the edge of his bed so he could be level with her. He did not break eye contact once, staring intently at her, awaiting her response.
Well, yeah. Tendou told me that...that you were going to confess after the match with Karasuno.
When did he tell you that? Ushijima silently cursed the red-haired jumping bean that always seemed to either make or break him.
About a week before the prelims.
Ushijima thought for a little bit. He was able to deduce that y/n did have some sort of attraction toward him since she seemed to always be around him, care for him, and make him happy. He felt his mood lift a little bit at her acceptance of him, and a small smile started to make its way onto his face.
So...you know the reason why I left so abruptly after the loss.
y/n slowly shook her head and kept her eyes on Ushijima's now fading smile. He buried his face in his hands and sighed, his shoulders shrugging and then slumping with his inhale and exhale.
Honestly, I thought you were having second thoughts...I thought you didn't--
Ushijima looked up at the choking sound that had emitted from y/n, and his heart immediately dropped. He had made the object of his affection cry, the exact opposite of what he hoped to make her do. He jumped up from his bed and went to kneel beside her, eyes wide and desperate to search for a solution to make her return to her usual happy state.
You thought I didn't what?
I thought you didn't like me anymore. And for a while, when you didn't talk to me, all I think could think was...what did I do to make you hate me. y/n managed to mumble in between sobs. Wakatoshi's heart broke in two, and he moved a shaking hand up in an attempt to wipe her tears away with his thumb, but her tears just kept flowing. When that didn't work, he was slightly panicking, but didn't want to worry her more, so he just knelt there beside her feeling helpless.
He racked his brain for ways to make her feel better, trying to channel his inner Ohira and Eita; the setter and the wing spiker were both quite popular with the ladies, always knowing the right things to say to catch their attention and make them swoon. They had to have something to distract from Eita's awful fashion sense and Ohira's massive eyebrows.
y/n, I left because I felt as if I was unworthy of your acceptance because of my failure in the preliminaries. I was just being selfish, and it was never my intention to hurt you. Ushijima explained, his tone almost sounding desperate. She wasn't used to hearing Wakatoshi have any sort of emotion in his voice, and this made her look down at him, searching his face for what kind of emotion he was actually feeling. She couldn't believe she was the one who could bring out the emotional side of the usually stoic ace, but she was glad.
Waka's eyes were wet, and tiny beads of moisture had started to form in the corners of his eyes. y/n tried to put her best smile on for him and laid a hand on his head. She still hasn't heard the words she desired most from him, though, and if she didn't, she wouldn't be okay.
Ushi, don't say things like "unworthy." You sound like a man from medieval times. She made a poor attempt at a joke, causing a microscopic curl of Ushijima's lips. And don't ever think for one second you're not good enough for me. You're good enough times a million.
I'd thought that you only liked me because of my strength and success.
y/n deadpanned, the flow of her tears slowly coming to a halt. Are you serious? You're an idiot, you know that? Ushijima raised an eyebrow at her insult.
So you like me because...
Because you're the sweetest and most determined man I've ever met. When you set your mind to something, you'll stop at nothing until you've achieved it or acquired it. Not to mention, you're kind of really attractive. She ruffled his hair as he felt his own smile grow wider and wider, despite the physical touch that usually made Ushijima uncomfortable. But y/n was the exception.
Then, I suppose I have a question to ask you. Ushijima stood up and offered a hand to y/n, which she tentatively took. He led them over to his bed and they sat down at the foot of it, facing each other. Will you go on a date with me, y/n?
y/n nodded furiously before flinging open her arms and tackling Ushijima back into his pillows. Ushijima tried to wipe the massive smile on his face but reasoned that it was no use to try and deny himself the utter bliss that he felt at that moment. All thoughts of his loss against Karasuno were pushed to the darkest parts of his mind, where they couldn't be accessed until this happiness had disappeared, and he hoped it wouldn't for a long time.
Ushijima held y/n as tight as he could for as long as his insane smile was plastered on his face; he feared that if she saw his smile, she would think he was acting silly and feel as if the moment was ruined. But the slight shaking caused by soft sobs quickly made his smile disappear.
I wish I could live in your heart So I could see what it means When you're so hot You seem so far Away
y/n, are you crying? Did I do something? Are you having second thoughts?  Ushijima laid a hand on her head, stroking her hair in an attempt to make her look up at him, and she did. However, the expression on her face was not what he was expecting.
Her eyes were glazed over with tears, but they were smiling. Her lips were trembling in a poor attempt to hold back more sobs, but they were smiling. Tears were flowing down her cheeks and her nose was runny and stopped up at the same time. But she was laughing quietly. Ushijima didn't know whether to be disturbed by the seemingly delirious state that y/n was in, or to be relieved that she was at least smiling.
y/n sat up, straddling his hips and using her sweater sleeve to wipe her tears and snot away. Ushijima sat up with her, using his hands behind him on his bed to support himself.
Sorry, I'm just--really happy. She choked out in between sobs.
You don't sound happy. Ushijima tilted his head to one side and observed y/n continue to come undone before him. For the second time that night, he felt his courage swell up inside his heart and he leaned forward toward her, this time successfully catching her tears on his thumb and going in for another kiss.
He cupped her damp cheek with one hand and kept himself balanced with the other while he moved his mouth against hers. He felt her breathing calm down and her heart rate rise as they continued to kiss. She wrapped both of her arms around Ushijima's neck and hugged him tight to her chest.
Ushijima began to wonder when the kiss was going to end, he was in dire need of oxygen. Even though they had just confessed to each other, Ushijima enjoyed kissing y/n; he was proud to be hers and he was proud that she was his, but he was only human, and he needed oxygen.
He pulled away quickly once he had reached his limit, earning a small smile from y/n. She had stopped crying, and was admiring the vulnerable, panting, happy Ushijima positioned in between her legs.
I'm sorry, it's just that...you're my first kiss. And I guess I haven't really taken the need for oxygen into account. Ushijima explained in between short breaths. She just giggled and pushed him back on his bed. He stared at her, wondering what she was going to do next. Your mood changed rather quickly.
I told you, I was happy. Those were tears of joy, Waka! y/n snuggled up to Ushijima's side and guided his arm around her waist so that they could cuddle. Ushijima felt his cheeks heat up in coyness. This evening he had been thrown into a huge heap of uncharted territory with the girl he desired most, and even though he was loving every minute of it, he was still afraid that he wouldn't be good enough.
You'll just have to be patient with me, y/n. This is also my first relationship. The only thing I ever put heart into was volleyball. But now you deserve my heart and attention as well.
That's a sweet thing to say. y/n stated as she let her fingers skim across Ushijima's chest in a dawdling manner.
What do you mean?
I mean, I know you love volleyball, and you will probably always love volleyball. I just think it's incredibly sweet of you to promise me your attention and love when you still have volleyball to focus on. Everyone at school just thinks you're a robot built for volleyball and nothing else. But you do have a heart!
Ushijima chuckled lightly at her light insult mixed in with her kind words. She was truly a good companion. With her, Ushijima never felt bored and he never wished he was somewhere else. He could see himself spending his entire life with her by his side.
Well, volleyball isn't forever. When I'm old and my body working against me, I won't be focusing on volleyball. I'll be enjoying the time I have left with a companion, and I think that could be you.
Ushijima felt y/n snuggled further into his side and heard her sigh happily.
You keep saying the sweetest thing, Waka. You're like a completely different person.
Well, three hours I didn't know if you liked me. I was a mess. I was hopeless. But now you're here, and I finally feel as if everything will be okay.

KARASUNO + SHIRATORIZAWA ON FIRST DATES
mitsvyaswife 𖦥 they'd either be a nervous wreck and pass out or make you have a good time. some might be both, some might be something else.
Tumblr media
KARASUNO !
daichi was definitely a nervous wreck before the date, but not to worry, it's always been like this anyway. he was pretty nervous before the date and waiting for you at the place but when you came and the two of you started talking, all his worries went away and like always, managed to keep conversations up and going and make even the most mundane topic fun.
sugawara was also a nervous wreck however, he wouldn't really speak at first and would let you initiate conversations because he just didn't know what to talk about, especially because everything he has practised the night before seemed to leave his head and begin to fill about volleyball which is just stupid, he thought. but luckily, you didn't make him out to be a boring person so you talked like you've never and before he knew it, he's already speaking to you.
asahi is a nervous wreck all throughout the date. he can crack up some jokes but it didn't earn him a laugh, just a giggle, but at least he made you giggle! he definitely tries hard and try not to talk about volleyball often unless he's talking about what he does. still quiet throughout the date and will only speak when asked questions but is quite comforting to be around.
nishinoya is not nervous at all. he's never been on dates but he acts like he goes on them every day of the week. really fun to be around because he's loud but not obnoxious and he just has anything and everything to talk about where it doesn't seem like you're being left out kinda thing? picks fun places, even going out to eat has to be fun in a way. twas fun but coming back home? his heart is nearly about to leap out of his chest, but he had so much fun and so did you.
tanaka is, at first, nervous as well, but after food, he's just talking and talking, and so are you. he's not as loud as nishinoya on dates but he tries to keep conversations going and fun and most of the time succeeds but sometimes it fails.
ennoshita is a mix of sugawara, asahi, and tanaka. he doesn't speak at first and will let you initiate conversations but will also try not to make you do the most. he tries to look for things he can talk about that you can, hopefully, relate to and questions that can bring up longer conversations. all in all, he's also fun to be around with. conversations are fun, you're both sometimes loud and sometimes not.
kinoshita has zero experience in dating so he's also a nervous wreck. will try to initiate conversations but they'll just end quickly. will also try to ask questions that will bring up conversations but they end after an answer to the question as well. he really tries, he does, but you can tell he's really nervous, it's basically written on his face, which makes interactions more awkward.
kageyama, alike kinoshita, has zero experience in dating. he will try to initiate conversations and it goes well until you ask him a question and he just starts rambling away about volleyball. you have no idea what to say to what he talks about so you just smile and nod 😭
hinata has zero experience too, he thinks dating isn't really important but when he does, he's also like nishinoya and kinoshita. he's shy at first before you two start to click and you're basically almost like best friends now because of how much you two can talk and it just seems like you two have everything in common. and he actually forgets about anything volleyball related during the date which is like??
tsukishima is not nervous at all because he was there because the reward for it was money. but, he actually enjoys your presence for a while until he gets bored and stops trying to initiate conversations and just lets you ask away while he answers them, adds in a little more about his life before leaving you to ask again.
yamaguchi is very nervous. he might just pass out if he stays any longer. but luckily, he starts to gain confidence before he actually passes out and the two of you have a good time. he might be looking around and stay quiet for a very long while to look for a list of things to talk about but they actually do last, the conversations, i mean.
yachi is also a nervous wreck. she might puke her heart out if she also stays any longer. but, she bears with that for a while before she realizes that you're not going to kill her for messing up even a little and because you understand why she's shy about things like this, you adjust for her and it makes her really happy that she just starts to talk about almost anything and they're always really fun, wholesome, or stomach-achingly funny
kiyoko has been on multiple dates before but that's because she was asked to them and not her that was asking. so when she asked you if you wanted to go on a date with her and all, you agreed, obviously and neither of the two of you didn't even bother to waste any time on being shy and just talked, had fun, went to other places, and played games. it could be a normal everyday thing for you to do these things but they were still very, very fun.
Tumblr media
SHIRATORIZAWA !
ushijima isn't that nervous but he does want to try to impress you, which makes his hands clammy. he wants to try to converse with you about things other than volleyball but they always come to an end quick. he's very poetic and have a lot of metaphors in his statements which confuses you sometimes on what he's trying to say because he can't get to the point. very attractive but not the best date.
soekawa is a nervous wreck. he's wondering why you picked him out of all the other people in shiratorizawa, especially in the volleyball club. there were so many other guys who were capable of making you have a good time on the date but you chose him. even when he's insecure about that and all, he does try. conversations always last and you find a way to go back on them to talk about them again before slowly drifting off into a different topic.
semi is nervous, but not, but will faint. if that even makes any sense?? like imagining how it will go makes him confident but if he tries to imagine how it will go in reality shatters that confidence and makes him feel like wanting to shit because he's so nervous. but when the actual date starts, it's pretty fun. he'll bring his guitar with him just to impress you if you start asking about it. a pretty good date but he's still nervous.
reon is just... yes. he's not nervous because he knows it'll go well and when you two meet, it's like you've known each other for so long. you two have everything to talk about and he makes you laugh... a lot! it makes your stomach and face hurt that he, too, starts laughing just as hard and you two have to sit down and take a deep breath. he just knows how to keep conversations going and everything he talks about is just fun?
tendou isn't one for dates but when he does go on them, he's not nervous, not at all. even with the fear of people like his elementary bullies showing up as his date plagues the back of his mind, they're immediately silenced when you came and you two just have fun. he's funny and cracks a lot of jokes, which makes you smile at the end of the day and when you think back about the day. has a lot of places to go in mind but he wants to save the rest of them for when you two go on another date.
goshiki feels like he could faint in any minute. after his upperclassmen (mainly tendou) knew about you who started crushing on him, they told him about it and asked if he was interested in you in any way and if he was, he should ask you out. he does but he's a mess. he's sweating a gallon's worth of sweat before you can even arrive and it makes semi shake his head. conversations are awkward at first and a lot of things fail but gradually, they start to get so much better when you two just decide to walk around the town to talk about yourselves.
shirabu was also a wreck before the date. it's not very like him but he doesn't go on dates so it's reasonable for even him to be sweating a river's worth of sweat. okay, kidding, but he's still sweating that you just decide to tease him about it. he doesn't find it funny because you're making him nervous but he soon calms down and starts to smile. after that, you two will eat then walk around and do something to pass time like going to an arcade but one of the machines glitched or something and gave you like 800+ tickets even when you're only supposed to receive 4
kawanishi also picks the arcade for the date. it gives him the opportunity to show off how he's good at almost every single thing in the arcade. he's not really nervous because you two aren't doing anything boring and stuff. will also speak to you about himself and really anything while playing so you do the same. all in all, it's fun. leaves you sweating and panting (cos of that damn basketball game) but either way, it makes your heart smile when you think back about it.
yamagata, alike tendou, is loud. at times obnoxious and annoying that it makes you want to rip your ears out or punch all of his teeth then bruise his lips to make him shut the hell up, he's also really fun to be around with. but he will either keep the conversations going or unintentionally end them because he doesn't know what else to add to them. either way, his food picks are great.
