here’s a lil T-rated story about Zuko taking care of Sokka, after the war <3
“Hey sweetheart,” he says, kissing Sokka’s shoulder. “Bad hip day?”
Sokka makes a muffled groan under the pillow he’s thrown over his face.
“Magic hands?” he pleads.
“Magic hands,” Zuko agrees, smiling. He settles next to Sokka on the bed, pressing a kiss to his collarbone, warm hands settling at the socket of his hip.
“Ah, fuck, Zu.”
“Too much?”
“Fuck,” he says. “Yeah, but don’t stop.”
“You sure?” Zuko bends down to kiss his chest again and Sokka chokes a little, feeling the shape of Zuko’s mouth through his shirt.
“I’m sure,” he says. “A little more heat?”
Zuko grins.
“Oh, you want more heat?”
He slides his leg over Sokka’s, hands massaging deeper into his cartilage, and Sokka could weep from the release of it. “Baby,” Zuko murmurs, pushing heat into Sokka’s hip.
“It’s not that bad,” Sokka lies.
Zuko doesn’t argue with him; he’d do the same if he were in Sokka’s shoes now, and has. When neuropathy makes his face ache and sting, he rubs at it silently while he works, until he feels Sokka’s fingers settle around his, pulling his hand away. And Sokka doesn’t try to get the truth out of him either.
Bad day? he’ll ask.
It was fine, Zuko will say, one eye winced shut.
“I’m gonna take you to the hot springs one day,” Zuko says now, kneading. “We’ll take the week off and spend the whole time in the water.” He leans down to kiss Sokka’s chest again, lingering. Sokka lets out a little moan. “And I’ll hold you in my arms the whole time, sweetheart.”
“Zu,” Sokka says weakly.
“What?” he says. “I will.”
He wants to sit in the water with Sokka in his lap, arms around his waist. He wants to hold Sokka safe there while the hot salt takes his pain away. It feels monumentally unfair, looking at someone he loves so much suffer so much. Sokka’s the best person he’s ever known.
Zuko would take it for him if he could. He would take the pain for himself. It seems like he’s always suffered, and as long as he’s meant to suffer, why can’t he do it for Sokka? Why couldn’t he—?
“Baby?” Sokka mumbles sleepily, and Zuko realizes he’s gone still. He hums and starts massaging again, kneading warmth into Sokka’s hip. I love you, he thinks, watching Sokka’s sleepy, trusting face. I’d take it for you. And at the same time, in the way Sokka gives under his touch, in the way he smiles at Zuko in the mornings and nuzzles kisses against his neck, he’s started to think he doesn’t have to suffer at all.
After a while he can feel everything loosen under his hands, enough to back off. He kisses Sokka’s hip and lays down next to him, holding him.
“Never wanna move again,” Sokka mumbles.
“I’d carry you there,” he says, slotting his face against Sokka’s neck.
“It’s an island.”
“I’d get wet,” Zuko says stubbornly, and Sokka snorts.
“I love you, Zu.”
Zuko squeezes him tightly for one moment, two.
“I love you too,” he says. “More than anything.”

Zuko x chubby reader
Mentions: body shaming, foul language, angst, aggression, lying, fluff?!
Simple! :) sorry for errors.
“You look very beautiful y/n.” Katara mentioned "Thanks. I decided it's time for a change." You replied. Katara's complement made you blush. Sokka was surprisingly good at cutting hair. He gave it layers and added braids that held your hair back. “ I agree with Katara” Mai spoke. You instantly felt horrible with the new hairstyle. Mai isn’t the one to express her feelings so that comment made you believe otherwise. Perhaps cutting your hair shouldn't have crossed your mind.
Aang noticed you playing with the charm bracelet you wore. It tells him a lot about how you feel. He noticed you'd touch a certain charm with the emotion you were feeling, such as anger, happiness, sadness, anxiety, etc.“Katara is right y/n. It suits you! Sokka did a great job.” He spoke. He had that nice big smile. “ New hair cut? Looks nice” Zuko said patting your back. You’ve been dating him for 4 months and you’re very thrilled about it. He’s very kind and romantic when alone with you.
The day went on by. Everyone was calm. You can hear the ocean tides and feel the wind blowing. “Tell her. I’m tired of hiding.” Mai said. Zuko rubbed his temples. “It’s not that simple Mai. I can’t dump her out of the blue.” He responded. You heard them. “You don’t even like her. Why did you agree on dating her?” Your tears slipped. You didn’t want to hear his answer. “Because…she’s saved me many times..and I felt bad. It looked like she was going to cry if I said no.That and how many guys do chubby girls date? Almost never. I’m giving her a little hope.” You cried silently. You felt sudden saddens and hate. Running towards the ocean Katara called out to you. “ Y/n we’re making lunch! Wanna come help?” You ignored her walking back and forth. The waves following your movement. You made a fist. Your anger was so out of control you created a storm. “ Hey! Y/n you created a problem here!” Sokka yelled as Aang used his air bending to keep the water from drenching them. “Sorry!” You took a few deep breathes calming away the storm and the crazy waves.
“What’s got you so upset?” Katara asked giving you a tight hug. “ I keep losing my arrows. Haha. I overreacted.” She knew you were lying. She’s your most trusted person. Katara understands your personality, sense of humor, and the way you just are. She whispered. “We can talk about it later.” You smiled and nodded. Lunch was yummy. Everyone’s stomach was content.
Another 3 months went by. All the same apparently Zuko still loves you and wants to spend was much time with you as possible. It was such bullshit. You heard him leave with Mai at midnight. You saw how they treated each other. The little things showed everything.
The ride on the ship was wild. Not because there was a storm or someone was throwing arrows, fire rocks or trying to drown you all. Simply because an argument started.
“ you have no right to be upset. I’ve known him longer. You don’t get it.” Mai said with a straight face. You couldn’t believe what she said. The fire nation is insane however a regular family took you in. You eventually met Zuko. “ Have no right to be upset!? Are you kidding me? Yeah, he was your childhood sweetheart or whatever but who followed behind him when he was exiled !? Me! Which one of us cared to help him emotionally? Me! I’ve given him all my love and support even if it meant I’d be killed on the spot for betraying the fire nation. You did nothing but hide underneath Azula’s shadow and power. Yeah, I have every right to be upset.” You replied tears falling down your cheeks. Everyone was witnessing this mess. You were smarter, stronger, and more reasonable than her. “Zuko out of all the mistakes you’ve made. Cheating on me is the worst one. I know I’m beautiful even if I’m skinny or not. Not many chubby girls get boyfriends you sure were right about that. You should’ve rejected me from the start because I don’t need your pity.” You spoke finally feeling relieved. You said everything you’ve been wanting to say. “You heard us that day? Why didn’t you confront us then?” Zuko asked looking Towards Mai and then at you. “I had hope that along the way you’d realize what you did was wrong and you’d fall in love with me. 3 months later it’s the same. Clearly, I was wrong. I’m done. I’m dumping your ass. I hope you feel guilty for body shaming and lying.” You replied holding onto Katara’s arm. You couldn’t help but do so. She’s your best friend since you’ve met her. “ One day there will be an amazing man who will fall in love with you. He’ll love everything about you.” Katara said. You smiled and hugged her. “ Awe!” Aang and Sokka said in unison.

By Your Side: Sokkla Saturdays 2023
Stories of Azula & Sokka giving in and deciding to be together. They stay by each other's sides before it's too late, before regret says hello. Spending their lifes together comes before certain other priorities. With patience and struggle, they can finally reach their well deserved dream.
Day 1: Azula Joins Team Avatar
Sequel of: Part 1, Part 2
AO3 & FF.Net
The island they flew to was nice. Full of greens and valleys.
All of them took their camping equipment. Sokka helped Azula with… well she only had a sleeping bag given by him. But he made a tent for her too, since unlike on the Western Air Temple, there was no roof here.
“So, it’s done Princess.” he said winking. She rolled her eyes at him, to mask how much she liked it when he did that.
The flight on Appa was eventless.
Katara cooked since it was already dusk. They ate together as always and Azula complained about how she needed to take a bath and that there were no bathrooms.
“There is a waterfall back there, we have soap.” Katara said.
Azula looked at her as if Katara went mad.
“You truly expect me to wash just like that with a simple soap?”
“We do that all the time.” Katara shrugged provokingly.
Azula grimaced. “And with him around too boot?” she pointed with her chin at Sokka next to her.
“Hey! I will stay here!” he squeaked.
“Yeah, like a believe you.” she replied.
“I would never want to sneak and take a look at your... your... yeah you!”
Toph coughed at his comment since it was a blatant lie, and he blushed.
The night arrived and Team Avatar slept soundly. Sokka slept in front of her tent like every night. Zuko wanted to sleep there, since he is her brother.
“She is my sister, why are you sleeping in front of her tent or room all the time?” he asked Sokka an eyebrow raised.
“Well, my words have more weight in this group than yours, and it was my idea to take her with us!” Sokka retorted.
Azula couldn’t sleep that night. Her mind was full of unpleasant thoughts. What was her father thinking of her? He knew Zuko wanted to join the Avatar, but she didn’t. Did he send his soldiers to look after her, thinking she decided to go with her brother?
She left her tent, carefully walking by Sokka's sleeping figure. He wasn’t as good as a guard as he presented himself to be. In the morning she would rub it into his face.
Her feet carried her to the cliffs. The soft breeze of the waterfall was hitting her face. Rain started pouring down vastly soft and she welcomed it.
Sudden footsteps alerted her that she wasn't alone. Was it Sokka or could it be someone else she wondered.
“Azula, it’s raining, you’ll catch a cold here.”
Yes, it was Sokka of course.
“I wasn’t trying to run away if that’s what feared you.” Azula said without turning around to see him.
“I didn’t think that.”
Sokka stood next to her, not bothering to keep distance. She looked up to him. The usual challenge wasn’t there right now. Sokka frowned.
“What’s eating your mind?” he asked her softly.
“What’s eating my mind?” she chuckled hysterically.
“I am the Princess of the Fire Nation, and I am travelling around with the Avatar and his friends, have to bath in rivers, my brother openly betrayed our father and you’re asking me what’s eating my mind?” she said.
Sokka looked at her sadly.
“I am sorry Azula. I never meant for you to feel uncomfortable.” he spoke, “I just…”
“You just wanted to capture me and show me the so-called truth about my nation and how great you guys are?” she said harshly.
“You know what? It’s partly working. I never laughed more than in these last days despite everything. My thoughts keep travelling to my father, and I hate the standards I live in currently, but I am… I… don’t feel uncomfortable with …”
Sokka waited eagerly for her to finish her sentence.
“You.” she said looking at him earnestly with those gorgeous eyes of hers.
“And it’s angering me deep down. I just… I…” she was lost for words when she felt two hands holding her face gently, giving her cheeks warmth.
A raindrop landed on one of his dark lashes. It looked poetic right now she thought to herself.
His thumbs caressed her cheeks.
“Since the moment I caught you, I wished for you to stay by our side, by my side. Something inside me urged me to take you with us, called to believe in you, to protect you. Those things intensified these last days.”
“I will always be right next to you if you need me. Even if you don’t, I will still be there for you.”
She could tell that his words were spoken earnestly.
“Sokka” his name came out as a whisper.
“Azula” he whispered back.
She put her hands on his by almost by reflex, realizing she could feel his breath.
Their lips joined desperately but thorough and soft still. It was the sweetest taste ever. Azula put her hands on his cheeks now as well when the kiss intensified.
Both of them wanted to this from the beginning. Both of them longed for the other. Right now, this felt right like nothing ever felt before.
Even if they would have loved to continue the kissing, they parted still, panting lightly. Azula’s eyes were still closed.
“If you think this through, and you still decide to go, if you are sure about it, I… I will not hold you back anymore.” Sokka said.
“You won’t?” she asked opening her eyes to look into his piercing blue one’s.
“I won’t even if it will be difficult for me. I so hope you will stay with us Azula. But I have no rights to hold you back.” His heart broke at the thought.
They felt a bond from the beginning. But something touched her heart and changed within Azula that night. She enjoyed being near to Sokka, which made her situation easier and more comfortable. And no matter what, she would see that no harm would come to him.
The rain stopped and they walked back to the tent. Azula let the entrance to her tent open, which enabled her to see Sokka right in front of it in his sleeping bag. He smiled at her. Even though it was dark, they fell slowly asleep while looking at each other.

Just a short scene I wrote because Zutara has been occupying about 90% of my thoughts lately 😅
Side Note: This scene diverges from canon after the end of the war because damn it, Zuko and Katara will always end up together in whatever context, scene, or story I write. I’m also still working on my full fledged fanfic! I don’t want to give away too many details, but it is a Modern-Day AU with Lunar New Year celebrations, and an extreme amount of fluff and pining. I can’t wait to finally share it! I’m hoping for a late spring/early summer release on AO3, but that may be optimistic because I write about as fast as a snail-sloth.
Anyway, without further ado…
*****
~Zuko’s Favorite Color~
Three years after the end of the 100 Year War, the Gaang meets on Ember Island to spend the week together. Before leaving, Zuko asked Iroh to take over his Fire Lord duties for the time being, just so he could spend his holiday relaxing and enjoying his time with his friends.
They’re all lounging on the beach at the night, drinking tea around a fire.
After slurping her tea and setting the empty cup aside, Toph turns to the group.
“Let’s play a game,” she suggests. “The rules are simple. All you have to do is guess Sparky’s favorite color. The winner gets to have all of their meals paid for by him tomorrow.” She slaps Zuko, who’s sitting next to her, on the back. With a wicked grin, she continues, “And the loser has to plant one on him tonight, with his consent, of course.”
Zuko chokes on his tea. “Hey, wait a minute! None of that is even remotely fair,” he protests, gesturing wildly. He glares at the world’s greatest Earthbender with a scowl. “Either I have to dole out money or I have to give out a kiss. How does any of that benefit me? And why in Agni’s name would we play a game where you all guess my favorite color? It makes so sense!”
Sokka laughs. “Dude, you’re just afraid I’m gonna win and you’re gonna have buy me food. You’ve seen the way I eat - you’ll be out of money by the end of tomorrow!
Snorting, Zuko shakes his head. “Buddy, I think you’re afraid that you’re gonna lose and have to kiss me.”
“Psh, you’d be lucky to kiss me! I’m a real catch, aren’t I, Suki?”
Suki kisses her boyfriend’s cheek and coos, “You sure are.”
Impatiently, Toph sighs. “Are you in or not, Fire Lord? C’mon, you’re among friends. No one’s gonna hurt you. You can back out if you wanna, but I think it’ll be fun.”
Zuko knows she’s right. It’s all in good fun. These are his friends - the ones he’s trusted time and time again. No one would be cruel. Plus, if he’s being honest, he’s hoping that he’ll get to kiss a certain someone tonight. Someone he’s had a crush on for a long time.
“Fine,” Zuko mutters. “Go ahead.”
Toph gleefully rubs her hands together. “Excellent. Does everyone consent to the rules of the game?”
A chorus of ‘yeahs’, ‘yeses’, and ‘yeps’ goes around.
“Sweet,” Toph says. “I’ll go first. Sparky’s favorite color is…blue.”
Sokka nods sagely. “Yep, it’s 100% blue, no doubt about it.”
Suki chimes in with, “I agree. It’s totally blue.”
Aang hums, stroking his chin. “I think blue would be the correct answer here.”
It’s Katara’s turn. She furrows her brows and frowns. “Why are you all saying blue? His favorite color is obviously red! It’s the color of his homeland, and every article of clothing he owns has some shade of red in it!”
Zuko’s cheeks flush to a deep crimson. He feels himself sinking further into the sand. “Um…” he trails off, scrubbing his hands over his face. He’s not even sure how to respond.
Everyone looks at him expectantly.
Toph smirks. “So, Sparky, what is your favorite color?”
He knows he can’t lie. He’s never been able to, and he doesn’t think he could start now. He decides to give in, resigned to his fate.
Peeking between his fingers, he mumbles, “It’s…um…blue.”
Toph laughs uproariously. “Called it! And we all know why! See, you love blue because everything about it reminds you of Sugar Queen.”
Sokka makes a gagging sound, but offers his own explanation. “Blue is the color of her eyes, which you’re constantly drawn to, by the way. Don’t think I haven’t noticed.”
Suki smiles. “Blue is the color of the clothing that she wears.”
Finally, Aang wraps up the conversation with, “Blue is the color of water, which is the element that she bends.”
Katara has been silent this whole time, her entire face highlighted in a lovely, rosy hue. She only has eyes for Zuko right now.
Quietly, she stands from her spot and crosses over to him, sitting down beside him. “Is any of this true?” she asks him softly, an unreadable expression on her face.
A shaky breath leaves his lips, and he nods. “Yeah, all of it,” he answers honestly, feeling his heart thump wildly.
Then, to his complete dismay, she gives him breathtaking smile.
Her ocean blue eyes never leave his as she murmurs, “Now might be a good time to tell you my favorite two colors.” She pauses, leaning over to brush the hair out of his eyes. “Red and gold because they’ll always be a part of you, Zuko. Every time I see those colors, I immediately think of you.”
His gasp is low, but an enormous grin overtakes his face. “Really?”
“Really.” She turns back to the group, who’s been watching with rapt attention. With a gentle smirk, she shrugs. “Guess I lost the game. And I’m nothing if not a gracious loser.”
Zuko hears Sokka snort, but only focuses on Katara.
“Do you really want to kiss me?” he asks nervously, hands clenching the bottom of his tunic to keep them from shaking. “Because I want to kiss you. Spirits, do I ever want to. But, your comfort comes first to me, always. So, we can forget this whole thing if it makes you uncomfortable.”
“I want to,” she sighs dreamily. “I’ve been waiting three years. Don’t make me wait any more.”
With that, they both lean and their lips touch. Finally.
As they continue to kiss, Zuko vaguely registers the sounds of claps, hollers, and an indignant whine of, “Dude, that’s my sister!” in the background.
Eventually, Katara pulls back to catch her breath, leaving Zuko in a dazed state.
She giggles, presses a light kiss to his scarred cheek, and says, “I think you may need to tap into the Fire Nation’s budget tomorrow. Your personal finances aren’t going to look so good with all of those mouths to feed.”
His eyes widen and dart to his friends, who all wave back at him smugly.
Groaning, he wraps his arm around her waist to pull her closer.
He addresses the group. “You’re all the worst. But…” he trails off to kiss the top of Katara’s head. “This stupid game was worth it.”

📝 📝 📝 (could also be from an unposted chapter of an unfinished wip….👀)
yeah sure okay i think im picking up what you're putting down
from retgmt chp. 16:
Once Izumi is asleep, Zuko sneaks out of her room, shutting the door quietly behind himself. The rest of the house is just as peaceful and quiet, and Sokka emerges from around the corner with a small smile on his face that Zuko can’t help but return.
“Did she go down okay?"
He draws Zuko easily into his arms, and Zuko sinks into the embrace with a contented sigh. “All good.”
“So listen...I was thinking,” Sokka muses, the words warm against Zuko’s ear in more ways than one, “that I’d really like to take you on another date.”
Zuko nuzzles into the crook of his neck, breathing in the comforting scent of him. “Sounds nice. Just say when.”
“How about right now?”
"What?"
Zuko leans back to look at him, just to make sure he heard that right, and Sokka averts his eyes with a shrug, fidgeting with Zuko's hand instead. “Yeah, it’s just— I know the last few weeks have been crazy. It might be nice to have some time together, just you and me.”
It's barely an argument considering they spend every night together, but Zuko knows what he means. "We don’t have a babysitter.”
He visibly brightens at that, like life is breathed back into him at the mere thought of whatever plan is brewing behind those pretty blue eyes. “Who said anything about leaving? I was thinking, you and me and a romantic backyard picnic in the moonlight. What do you say?”
“Seriously?”
“If you’re not up for it tonight, that’s totally fine! We can- we can do it another time. I know today’s been busy and you're probably tired, plus this is kind of last minute and—”
“I’m up for it.”
“Yeah?”
Fuck, he’s so cute when he gets nervous like this, all soft and babbling and blushing. Whatever he wants, Zuko will give him. “Yeah. Sweep me off my feet, Kunuk.”
He laughs in relief, tugging Zuko along. "Good, because I already set everything up.”
“That confident I would say yes, huh?”
“Yeah, um,” his smile softens in a way that makes Zuko’s stomach flip, “Something like that.”

Just a suggestion though. you can make the setting wherever you want doesn't matter to me. THANK YOU FOR READING !!!!!!!!
I absolutely love this and had to re-watch the episode that you are referencing to (which was amazing bc it’s been a minute since I watched the show) honestly, this was fun to write! 💕💕
“Then Do It.”
Tumblr media
pairing: katara x fem!reader
info: oneshot, not proofread
warnings: none
summary: you go with the gang to a play that you all end up hating. The only good part was seeing a certain someone loosen up and laugh a bit.
a/n: I have no words other than please don’t call me cringe, I already know I am.
Tumblr media
Watching Zuko and Aang train wasn’t the most entertaining thing in the world. After awhile, even firebending gets really old to watch. The only reason you were out here was because Katara was. She insisted on keeping an eye on the two boys to make sure they didn’t get injured. You tried to tell her they knew what they where doing and that she should go inside and enjoy some shade but she wouldn’t listen. That was Katara, stubborn as ever.
You made yourself a promise that if she was going to sit out here you were at least going to let her get some stuff off her chest. She was always so stressed out and worried about other’s, that stress needed to be relieved. So, you let her talk, spill out all her worries and thoughts. You actually listened to, because you cared, maybe a little too much even.
“Okay, now that you’ve gotten all the doom and gloom out, what’s the first thing you want to do after we win the war?” You asked her
“You’re so sure we’ll win.” She said
“We will, now my question.” You replied
She sat there for a second and thought, then said
“Maybe a nice spa day like the one you, Toph, and I had. Oh, and possibly go to a nice bakery afterwards and get some sweets!” She explained, a smile forming on her face.
“And think about it, we could find a nice pond to spend the day near and just have some good old fun.” You added on.
“Yeah, that sounds nice,” she said, “also scaring Sokka by drenching him in a wave of water.”
You both laughed, imagining her brother’s face after getting completely drenched out of nowhere.
“We have to win the war first though.” Katara stated, dampening the previously light mood.
“I’m telling you Tara, we will, I mean, we have the literal Avatar, who can bend all four elements! Zuko’s father doesn’t stand a chance.” You explained
“Yeah, but Aang’s just a kid, he shouldn’t have the burden of the world on his shoulders.” She sighed
“He shouldn’t, none of us should, but we just do the best we can, and keep going.” You spoke solemnly.
“Maybe after all this is over you’ll get to see my home for the first time.” Katara perked up, speaking of something you had imagined many times.
“I’d really like that! We could go penguins sledding!” You exclaimed
“Yes!” She agreeed.
“Guys, guys, look what me and Suki found!” Sokka cheered as Aang and Zuko walked over to join You, Katara, Sokka, and Suki.
“What is it?” Katara asked
“They made a play! About us!” Sokka exclaimed.
“About us?” Toph asked
“Yup, probably because we are 100% coolio to the max.” Sokka explained.
Suki laughed at the phrase.
“I know that theatre. My mother always made me go watch their plays. Butchered my favorite story every single time.” Zuko piped up from where he was standing next to Aang.
“Is it really a good idea to go to a play right now? We’re in the middle of a war.” Katara pointed out.
“Katara, this is the kind of crazy random stuff we’ve been missing out on!” Sokka protested.
Eventually everyone agreed that they would put on their fire nation attire and attend a play about themselves that evening. You knew Katara was worried that it was a “waste of time.” And you tried to talk to her about other things to keep her brain distracted. She seemed to appreciate it, always giggling and smiling when you made a joke or told a funny story. Good, your plan to de-stress your friend was working. However, you will admit every time she laughed at something you said, it gave you immense butterflies in your stomach. That was probably just nerves about the play though, right?
When you got to the theatre the first thing that happened was Suki, Sokka, and Aang grabbing every snack imaginable before we got to our seats. Then, Toph made a comment about where we were sitting and that she couldn’t pick up anything with her feet. Very understandable complaint since that was her way of sight. Katara promised to explain everything to her, oh how kind she was.
-☾❤︎☽-
The play was definitely something. No one liked how their character’s where portrayed, not even you. While they where accurate to an extent, everything was horribly exaggerated. That was the point of theatre, you knew, but this was too much. When intermission hot, you were more than happy to get out of the theatre and get some air.
You could tell you weren’t the only one who was upset. It wasn’t that you didn’t like how they portrayed you, well, yeah, that was it. You weren’t a bender and the play definitely got that spot on. Except, they made you out to be this weak person who just follows Katara around like a puppy letting her protect you.
That was hardly the case. Sure, you might not be a bender, but you had studied at the university in Ba Sing Se, where you met the gang. You had learned how to make small gadgets there that would help in combat and everyday life. So, being portrayed as helpless just because you couldn’t bend and you were a girl didn’t sit right with you.
Zuko and Aang didn’t seem to happy either.Zuko was more than his usual grumpy and even seemed a little sad. Him and Toph were sitting together, you assumed she would take care of him. Suki and Sokka were attempting to sneak backstage so Sokka could recommend some better jokes as the “dedicated fan” he is. Aang had gone out on the balcony to sulk, or at least that’s what it looked like he was doing when he walked out. Now, where was Katara?
You walked the halls for awhile, and made a full circle back to where everyone had been sitting. Your feelings hadn’t gotten any better. In fact, quite contemplation might have made them worse. You saw Katara walk back in from the balcony where you assumed Aang still was since he didn’t seem to follow. She looked exhausted, yet still somehow had a small smile on her face.
You tried to lift your chin, put on a smile, and pretend like nothing was wrong. She saw right through it the second you told her you had been looking for her. How? How could you be so good at hiding your emotions and yet she was always one step above at sniffing them out? She asked you what was wrong, you told her you didn’t want to burden her with one more thing.
“Y/n, I care about you, a lot, I wouldn’t ask if I didn’t want to know.” She told you
“Katara, do you really think that I’m just the tag along in the group. I hate saying all this because it sounds so pitiful and I don’t mean to but, am I really the weak bender who doesn’t have a use?” You rambled off to her.
“No, absolutely not Y/n, you are a valuable part of our team. You matter so much to the others, especially me. I, personally, don’t know where we would be without you and your handy gadgets and gizmos.” She explained to you
“Really?” You asked
“Yes!” She exclaimed
“I really matter that much to you?” You took a leap of faith with the question.
“Y/n, every time I see your face, I go crazy.” She confessed
“Crazy in a bad way or crazy in a good way?” You chuckled a little as you questioned her.
“Undecided.” She replied
“Oh.” You said, trying you hardest not to sound too disappointed.
“It’s just been so hard with the war to sort out my feelings. I mean, so always get this weird feeling in my stomach when you are around. Also, I find myself wishing you were right beside me all the time. It’s crazy, sometimes, I even just want to lean in and kiss you!” She ended her aggressive ramble.
You were in utter and complete shock. She confessed, this was the moment you had been waiting for ever since you met them in Ba Sing Se. This was it, and now that it was here, you couldn’t think of a single thing to say. So, you blurted out the first thing your brain thought of.
“Then do it.” You said
She did
-☾❤︎☽-
When you two pulled apart the. Rest of the gang was there wide eyed. Of course, the first one to speak up was Sokka.
“Ha, Toph, you owe me five gold coins AND a full statement saying that I, Sokka, was right and you, Toph, were wrong.”
“Wow, I mean, I always saw you guys look at each other funny, but I never guessed,” Aang started “I’m happy for you two.”
“I won’t lie I always thought Katara would end up with Zuko.” Suki admitted
Katara laughed, probably harder than she should have.
“Hey, it’s not that funny.” Zuko said,
“Don’t take offense to Zuko’s mood, he’s always like that, he’s quite pleased with this pairing, and so am I.” Toph explained
“Well, at least one good thing came out of this horrible play.” You jested
“Yeah, and it’s not even over yet.” Sokka replied

The Comfort They Crave
Summary: Instead of finding herself imprisoned, Azula chooses to fight battles on behalf of everyone else even though it is slowly breaking her down physically and mentally. Sokka is the first person to suggest that maybe she doesn't deserve to be treated as a weapon.
“Why do you care if I’m safe?” She demands. She almost sounds angry about it. Angry to have someone who cares about her, someone who could be worried about her. And Sokka admits that he almost does let it deter him. Afterall, she is right. Why should he care? After everything that she’s put his sister and his friends though. After what she put he and Suki through. Why should he care, especially when she is snubbing him right now while he is trying to care.
It is something in her eyes.
That is what stops him from throwing up his hands and telling her that she’s right, he doesn’t care and he shouldn’t.
Something in her eyes that says she is afraid.
Afraid to be cared about.
Afraid to let someone care about here.
Something in her eyes that says that she is confused.
Confused about how to handle a helping hand.
Confused, genuinely so, as to why anyone would care.
Her tone is hateful but Sokka is certain that Azula really does want to know why he cares about her safety. At first all he can say is, “because no one else does.” A bad answer, he knows that even without her reply.”
“Clearly…” She mutters. Her voice is as flat as ever but he can still hear the hurt in her voice. She has come to some sort of resigned acceptance that the closest she will come to having friends is a gaggle of people that invite her to dinner because she has been fighting their battles for them.
Today’s battle is a small team of assassins that have been after Zuko for some time. She has already taken down several of them; their capture had led to the relaying of crucial information. Details of the assassination plan that is going to be put into action tomorrow. And Sokka doesn’t think that this group particularly cares which royal they take down so long as they’ve got blood on their hands and an example to make of the body.
.oOo.
She supposes that she’d rather run the risk of death than spend a lifetime in a cell alongside father. At this point she has grown rather fond of the extremely high risk endeavors, they offer her, her best chance for peace. Her best chance for a blissful, merciful nothingness. The kind that will wrap around her and caress her body as it pulls under and away.
Away from everything that hurts her.
That will always hurt her and haunt her and torment her.
Right now the source of her torment has blue eyes and the beginnings of a scruffy beard. Evidently this has been the source for the past few days. He is always yammering away about stupid things and telling ridiculous stories that she doesn’t care about.
He tells her dumb jokes that aren’t funny.
Now he is pretending to be concerned so he won’t have to feel as guilty when she finally makes her way to that nothingness.
When she finally dies.
“You’re not so bad.” He tries again. “I actually like talking to you.”
She furrows her brows, she can’t imagine why he would enjoy it. “Talking at me, more like.”
He rubs the back of his head. “Yeah, I guess.” He pauses. “You’re the only person who hasn’t told me to shut up.”
“I’ve been trying to signal it with my eyes.”
Although she isn’t trying to be funny, he laughs. “You’re the only person who actually listens. And don’t tell me that you don’t. I’m used to people zoning out in the middle of my stories. You actually pay attention, I bet that you can tell me exactly what I was telling you about three days ago.”
“Submarine infrastructure.” She mutters against her better judgment. “How Water Tribe submarines differ from Fire Nation ones and the pros and cons of both.”
“Exactly.” He is beaming now. She is not used to people look so cheerful over something that she has said.
“What does that have to do with anything?”
“You asked me why I care if you’re safe.” He shrugs. “I care because I like talking to you. I also enjoy having you around for dinner.” He is dancing around the word ‘friend’. Not that he would consider her to be anything of the sort.
“There are plenty of other people who you can talk to, Sokka. Maybe they aren’t as attentive but they’re more pleasant conversationalists.” She tapers off into a sigh. There is a stirring in her tummy, a depressive little tickle.
“You’re not just some…some guard dog.” He sputters.
They could have fooled her. She knows that they have been feeding her metaphorical table scraps. They pet her and treat her when she does well and kick her when she doesn’t even if it isn’t in a physical sense.
Evidently she doesn’t even think that they realize that they are doing it.
That they treat her not dissimilarly to how father always has.
Especially Zuko.
Zuko who is so proud of himself for not turning out like his father.
“I guess that it feels that way sometimes.” Sokka’s voice falls. He finds himself a seat next to her, shoulder hunched, posture slouched–exactly the opposite of how she holds herself. “It’s okay to feel heavy sometimes. It’s okay to show it.” He says. And then he clarifies, “You don’t always have to sit so tall.”
“Perhaps I find this position comfortable.” Even if it is only by familiarity.
“I don’t think that you’re just some kind of weapon.”
She doesn’t believe him.
“You don’t have to do this, you know? I’ll tell them that I wouldn’t let you or that I wanted to handle it because I needed to feel useful.” He offers. “Sometimes I do that, you know? I can’t bend and so sometimes it feels like I’m not as cool or important. So sometimes I do dumb things…”
“Sometimes?”
“So that I can feel like I’m as strong as everyone else.”
Azula shrugs. “What do you need bending and strength for? You have something better.”
“Better?”
She gives his head a good tap. “You’ve got more brains than all of them put together. They can master all the bending forms that they’d like, build as much muscle as they can. It won’t matter so long as you plan adequately.”
Sokka smiles. “See, this is why I like you.” He pauses. “You don’t give compliments very much…”
“That wasn’t a compliment it was a…”
“That’s what makes it mean so much when you do. Even if you decide to pretend like you weren’t giving compliments.” He has the audacity to take her hand. “I don’t think that you’re as cruel as everyone says, you wouldn’t be such a good listener if you were.”
She stares at her palm and at her hand in his. She considers shaking his grip away.
“Just because you have a past doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t get a future.”
And she cracks.
She doesn’t want to but she does.
That armor that he has been steadily chipping away at is finally crumbled beyond use.
Her breath hitches and she grits her teeth so to stifle the sob that wants to come forward. She swallows it down, though the tears are burning behind her eyes. She lets him rub her back.
“It’s alright.” He assures. “You can just let it out. I think that you need to. I won’t tell anyone. As long as you don’t tell anyone that I’m also going to cry.”
“Why would you cry, Sokka?”
“Because it just so happens that today is one of those days where I really wish that I could have bending so I wouldn’t just be the ‘idea guy’.”
.oOo.
He is surprised to find that she doesn’t tell him that that’s stupid and that he should be grateful that they think he is the brains of the group. Maybe it is simply because he has caught her in a vulnerable moment…maybe it is because they are both having one, but she pulls him into her arms and brushes her fingers through his hair.
She doesn’t say anything at all, but he can feel the care in her gestures.
Can feel the affection.
He knows that she isn’t as heartless as everyone makes her out to be, not when these small comforting gestures seem to come very naturally to her. Naturally, when she needs the comfort more than anyone else.
Not that he also can’t use some comfort. He isn’t just the idea guy, he is also the shoulder to cry on. The tough guy who listens to everyone’s problems and solves them.
Just like he was trying to do for Azula.
Azula who has very much redirected his efforts and taken it upon herself to try to ease his pain.
He thinks that somehow it is soothing for her to be consoling him.
Maybe it makes her feel less like a monster, maybe it helps her to remind herself that she is a human being filled with all of those emotions that people insist she is devoid of.
“You know what else bothers me?” He asks.
“What bothers you?” She murmurs. He is glad for the soft and subtle quality of her voice. A voice that is so level now, he knows that she has managed to once again bury her own need to cry.
“I lose a lot of people I love and care about. I lost my mom and Yue and…I guess that’s not actually a lot.”
Azula shrugs. “One dead person is a lot, Sokka.”
“I don’t want to lose another.”
“I’m not going to let Zuko die. Or Katara. Or any of those idiots.”
“I’m not talking about those idiots!” He replies in a near shout.
Azula snickers.
“I’m talking about you.”
.oOo.
Azula swallows, “me?”
“Believe it or not, I care about you.”
The stroking of her hand comes to a halt. Surely just listening to his silly stories isn’t that profound. Really it is just a common courtesy. Yet he seems to really cherish that. She inhales through her nose. “Does it really bother you that much that I’m going to take this mission?”
“Yes!” He exclaims. “I know that there’s a better way to take this organization down. Sure it’s easier to just let you go in and do you thing. Take all of the damage that you usually take.” It isn’t lost on her that his eyes have locked on the scars that decorate her arms. The same sort that cover nearly every inch of her back and abdomen. The scars that keep piling up and up to the point where she is beginning to have trouble recognizing her own body. “It’ll take more time and planning but they don’t have to keep throwing you into the line of fire.”
Azula shrugs. “It’s alright, Sokka. I’m used to it. If they didn’t, father would be.”
He takes her hands and squeezes them very tightly. “But it’s not alright. You shouldn’t be used to that.”
She takes another shaky breath. The man really is pushing her to tears, she thinks that he might just be doing it on purpose. Maybe if she just gets it over with he will let her move on with her day and move on with her tasks.
And maybe that is exactly what would have happened if Zuko and his merry band of morons hadn’t decided to come home from their afternoon of tomfoolery early. She shouldn’t have allowed him to convince her to cry. Especially not out here in the middle of the fucking palace garden of all places.
She definitely shouldn’t have allowed him to coax her into leaning against him for a change.
Because now they are looking at her differently.
They are looking at her with pity and disgust.
They are looking at her like she is weak.
Sokka assures her that they are looking at her with empathy. That they are finally looking at her as a human being rather than something expandable. That might be reassuring if she believed him.
.oOo.
It doesn’t take nearly as much convincing as he had anticipated now that they have happened upon her crying. Of course, Azula is furious with him, insisting very adamantly that he’d done that on purpose, that he had set her up to be caught. He’ll let her be mad at him because they are finally reconsidering their plans.
“Don’t write her out of them.” He mentions. “Let her work with us, not for us.”
“Sokka, you just said that you didn’t want her fighting.”
“I don’t.” He confirms. “But I know that she’ll take it the wrong way if we have her stay home. Let her take the lead, she likes doing that.” It’ll make her feel as powerful and strong as she likes to feel but she’ll have some support. People to make sure that she doesn’t acquire anymore painful scars.
“Alright, we’ll come up with a new plan and…” Zukok starts.
“I already came up with one.” Sokka cuts him off. “That’s my job, remember. I’m the idea guy.” Maybe one day they’ll catch that hint of bitter in his voice. At least this time, he is alright with being the idea guy. “I’m going to run it by Azula and let her polish things out. She’s amazing with details. I don’t know why you don’t let her make the plans. She can accomplish everything that needs to be done without getting hurt all the time.” He declares.
It is then that he notices her figure propped up against one of the throne room pillars. He wonders how long she has been lurking for. Having noticed that she’d been noticed, Azula slips away from the pillar and wanders toward him.
She looks much smaller without all of that armor. Or maybe it is how long the sleeves of her robes are. Or the way that her hair frames her face. And yet those eyes burn with a ferocity to match the bold personality within.
He takes her hand, it is soft and smooth and warm. “I think that between the two of us we’ll come up with a way to keep the assassins from getting to you and take care of them once and for all.” He pauses. “Without risking Azula’s life.”
She is terribly quiet but he realizes that she is holding his hand back. Apparently she isn’t so angry with him after all.
“That would be ideal.” Zuko replies as though this is the first time that he has actually truly considered that it might be better for everyone to try to make Azula feel cared for.
Perhaps this mission won’t be full of love and fluff and team spirit. But it will be a start. And maybe, in due time, he won’t have to be the only one making all of the plans. Maybe, in due time, Azula’s scars will have a chance to heal. Maybe, in due time, the both of them will get the comfort they crave.

Blood Bending Can Be Traumatic (Katara x reader)
Tumblr media
You comfort Katara after the whole blood bending experience with Hama and she was forced to learn blood bending.
A/N - I'm new to this franchise. I've just finished watching this series and I'm partway through Legend of Korra. I'm loving this franchise a lot though! Also my work is not and never will be proof read! Final thing, if anyone can think of a better name for this one shot I'd be grateful!
Word Count = 712
“Congratulations. You’re now a blood bender.” Hama says with an evil laugh and I watch as Katara bursts into tears and collapses to the ground. Man, that woman is pure evil to force someone to do a cruel ability, especially when I know for a fact Katara wouldn’t have wanted to learn something like that if she had a choice.
As she continues to cry, I kneel down in front of her and bring her into a hug. There’s nothing I can say to comfort her and we both know it. So, the best form of comfort I can give her is to be there for her while she gets through it and we remain in this position for a while. Until Aang speaks up. “We should really get out of here and make camp for the night.” We all agreed, and I stick with Katara the entire time. Not like I had a choice since she has literally lung herself to me, but I don’t mind. In fact, I’m secretly loving this I just wish it was under a different, happier circumstance.
///
Eventually, we land, and we all dismount off Appa. I set up Katara’s tent given the state she is in and then set my own up next to hers. “You gonna be okay tonight?” I ask her. “Yeah, I will be. if you stay with me y/n?” I am definitely surprised she asked that, but I guess it makes sense to not want to be alone after such a traumatic experience. “Of course, which tent shall we go in?” She chooses my tent and so we both go inside.
When we go inside my tent, I roll out our sleeping bags and try to make it as comfy as possible for her. I know all I would want is all the comfort I can get if I was in her position. After a few minutes I am satisfied, and we both climb into our sleeping bags and we both quickly fall asleep.
///
I wake up in the middle of the night to the feeling of being kicked so I naturally assume someone is trying to attack me and sit right up. Only, there is no attacker. It is just Katara but she is still asleep and by the looks of it, she is having a nightmare. I shake her awake which was proven more difficult than I thought it would have been.
“Are you okay?” I ask. She doesn’t say anything but bursts into tears again. I can only assume it was about the events from blood bending. “I’ll never blood bend again.” She tells me. “I know.” I answer and bring her in for another hug. “It was awful. To control someone using their blood knowing it causes them a lot of pain.” “I’m not a bender at all so I can’t even begin to think of how it must have been to go through it but because of the person you are, I know you’ll get through this and I know you would have never used blood bending if you had a choice but you didn’t. Heck, had you not used it, who knows what that woman would have done to you and then to Sokka and Aang.” “That’s besides the point. I still used it.” “And you even said yourself that you’ll never use it again and those two never held it against you so there’s no point beating yourself up over it.” “You really think so y/n?” “I do. You reckon you’ll be able to get back to sleep now?” Katara nods and we both lie back down.
Once we are both lay back down, Katara scooches her sleeping bag over to me so that we are lying next to each other. I turn over so I am lay facing her. We just stare at each other momentarily and what Katara does next, I never would have guessed she would do. She gently connected her lips against mine. The kiss was short and sweet but held a promise. That we’d always be there for each other. When we pull apart, she rests her head onto my chest and cuddles into me and we spend the rest of the night in a peaceful slumber.
What did you guys all think of this one? I currently take requests for Katara, Korra, and Asami. Hope to see your requests soon! :)

Ok so Bumi, Kya, Tenzin. Then I would add two more kids and I am going to pull Yeshe and Sila from Tibetan and inupiat cultures respectively. Bumi, Kya, Tenzin, Sila, and then maybe fraternal twins Yeshe and Yonten. Yeshe (girl) is an airbender but Yonten (boy) is not a bender. I can’t decide if Sila (another boy) is a bender or not. My gut says not a bender at all, but that puts aang and katara at a 50/50 bender/nonbender rate. Making him a waterbender feels like a cop out for some reason but actually that may be the best option. Yeah Bumi and Yonten can be oldest/youngest and also nonbenders, kya and sila are waterbenders, tenzin and Yeshe are airbenders. I don’t love how neatly that works out to 2/2/2 but it mimics the 3 different siblings in canon so I guess it works.
Bumi (katara 21)
Kya (katara 28) (Bumi 7)
Tenzin (katara 32) (Bumi 11, Kya 4)
Sila (katara 34) (Bumi 13, Kya 6, tenzin 2)
Yeshe & yonten (katara 37) (Bumi 16, kya 9, tenzin 5, Sila 3)
Yeshe is much more free-spirited and go with the flow than tenzin, and doesn’t like the idea of settling down and having a family, tho she does want kids to help revive the Air Nomads. She maybe argues with her family a little about making that happen her way but takes a lot of comfort and inspiration from Toph, who also started a family on her own terms. Yonten is pretty spiritual and actually can access the Spirit World better than any of his siblings, I’m thinking some Kelsang energy from him. He def has a family on Air Temple Island.
Sila is just a classic Water Tribe dreamboat. He’s more interested in Water Tribe politics and spends a lot of time with Kanna, Hakoda, and Sokka, maybe even interested in the role of chief. Katara is worried about him being away from her for so long and getting involved in politics when he’s, yknow, the avatar’s son, but sokka points out that the SWT wanted katara as their chief back in the day so there’s precedent.
When Aang died it was Sila who stayed with Katara, not Kya - mostly because he was already there. Yeshe & Yonten also stayed for a while (Yeshe was in and out but Yonten brought his family down so was there a year or so), trying to convince Katara to come live on Air Temple Island, but then Korra gets found as the new avatar and Katara dedicated herself to teaching her. I like to think Sila was Korra’s actual waterbending teacher and Katara sort of observed them both.
Yeshe’s kids (let’s say 3 of em) are raised the traditional Air Nomad way, collectively, which she CONSTANTLY gets into fights about with Tenzin, Kya, and Sila, who think she’s not being responsible enough as their mother. Bumi is the one who usually defends her because he’s closest to the twins since Yonten is the only other nonbender. Kya in particular gets mad because she’s like you CANNOT dump your kids on me I love them but I chose not to become a mother for a reason and Yeshe’s like exactly you’re not a mom so you have the time to help me out and Kya full on blows up at her and peace’s out for like a year after that.
Yonten is the most easygoing in that Aang-like way of sort of being passive and not getting mad at things even when someone is antagonizing him and all of his siblings except for Bumi absolutely, absolutely fucking hate it. It doesn’t help that he’s the youngest lmao
Uh oh I have just fallen in love with these OCs I just now created this was a mistake

Trans Sokka
Since he was a kid Sokka did everything he could to prove he was a man. To most of the Southern Water Tribe he was a girl. He was the daughter of Hakoda and Kya. He was the older sister of Katara. But he knew none of those were true. Sokka decided to tell his family about this.
“I don't know why but I think I'm supposed to be a man. Whenever I see myself I say that I want to look like dad. I want to be strong, tall, and have a beard. I want to help protect our tribe from intruders with the other men. I want to be your son and honor our family name.” Sokka finished.
“I've known you were different for a while, my son.” “Hadoda said. “I see a fighter in both you and your sister. While I see a bender in your sister I see a warrior in you. You certainly have the courage and blood of one. What is your name, son”
“Sokka.”
“Sooka. My Sokka.” Kya hugged her son.
“So does this mean we can't share clothes anymore?” Katara asked making everyone laugh.
Not to long after that Sokka wanted to learn to build weapons and sharpen them.
“Okay, Sokka. I want you to take this knife and carefully sharpen one end of it until it's pointy.” Hadoda said.
“Will this be a spear?” He asked.
“Yes. It can be used for hunting as well as war.”
Sokka started sharpening the spear. After a while he finished it.
“Okay now I want you take this flat rock and hit it's edges with this round rock. It will take a long while but it will eventually become an ax.” Sokka did as he was told. At one point he started getting tired.”
“How long is this going to take. My arms hurt.” Sokka complained.
“It's going to take some time to get sharp. If you need to you can take a rest.”
“I didn't know it would be this hard.”
“Being a man is hard rock. Being a woman is hard work too. We both have responsibilities to handle. With these responsibilities we each take we work as a team to become a tribe.”
“I guess it's even harder whenever the men are away.” Sokka said. Hadoda laughed.
“Let's just say my cooking isn't as good as your moms.”
Sokka learned how to make all sorts of new weapons. It was hard but he loved every moment of it especially getting to spend time with his dad. When he was a little older Sokka wanted to learn to hunt.
“I don't know, dear.” Kya said worriedly. “What if he gets lost or falls off a boat or gets attacked.”
“Don't worry. I'll keep an eye on him. You have to let him do it eventually, Kya. You have to let him become a man.”
“All right. Just be careful.”
“Don't worry mom. We'll get some fish and meat so big that we'll have to make a bigger house.” Kya giggled to that.
“Okay. Go ahead.”
Sokka, Hadoka, and some of the other men were on a boat in a stream. They were looking for fish to gather for the tribe to eat.
“Okay, Sokka. What I want you to do is hold this spear. I want you to hold it until you see a fish near the surface. When you do aim your spear as best as you can and lock it. Then throw it as fast and hard as you can. If you get one then you can go get it. The water is here deep enough for our boats to float but you should be able to stand in it. You got that?”
“Yeah, dad.” Sokka looked at the water trying to find a fish. After what seemed like forever he finally saw one. He quickly threw the spear yelling and missed the fish. “Darn it! I missed.”
“That's because you didn't wait long enough. Getting a fish takes patience. Not to mention yelling like that might scare it.” “Oh, sorry.” Sokka tried again. This time he waited a little big longer than he did the first time. After studying a fish he threw the spear but it got out of the way. “Oh man again!”
“You're getting closer. Try again.” They tried a few more times. After almost a while Sokka was ready to give up. But he didn't.
“Concentrate.” Sokka closed his eyes a moment and calmed down. He took a deep breath and opened his eyes. He stood a moment before throwing the spear. It went though the fish directly. It wasn't a big one but he got it.
“I got it! I got it! Did you see that dad I got it?” Hadoka smiled.
“And it's your dinner. Great job.”
Sometime after that the Southern Raiders attacked. Sokka stood to defend his home. He was happy when they left until he found out they took his mothers life. Sokka tried not to try at her funeral.
“It's okay to cry, son.”
“But I'm trying to be a man.”
“Crying for your mother doesn't make you any less a man. I'm crying aren't I? It just shows you love your mother. It makes you human.” Sokka let tears go down his face and cried into his fathers coat.
When the men left to go into the war Sokka wanted to go with them.
“I want to go too, dad. I can fight.”
“I know you can, son but the tribe needs you. They need your guidance and you sister needs you. This is a responsible job. One I can only trust in you for. Can you do it?” Sokka looked down and nodded. “I know you can do it.”
As the years passed Sokka became the man he and his dad hoped he would. Eventually he told the rest of the gaang who took it well.
“Do you think mom would be proud of me?” He asked Katara.
“She is proud of you up there. You're the best son and brother anyone can ask for.”
“Thanks for being there for me, Katara.”
“Anytime.”
“Now let's go eat some meat. I'm starving.” Sokka walked away leaving Katara to roll her eyes.

suki || a phone study
does your muse use any social media? what sites do they use? how much of an online presence do they have?
suki uses mostly instagram for like personal things, she has a twitter but she really only uses that to promote her gym, so it’s a lot of links to the website. otherwise, she really just uses instagram for her friends!!
what kind of accounts does your muse follow online? and what do they post on their own accounts?
a lot of fitness accounts, her friends, some bands she likes, a couple like food bloggers. suki mainly posts about her friends, she likes to take pictures of them and post funny things, she’ll also post a lot about her job, trying to promote it
is your muse comfortable with a phone or computer? do they use them often? how literate are they with technology?
yeah i’d say suki is pretty comfortable with her phone and computer. she’s nowhere near like super tech savvy but for a casual user, she’s comfortable. she doesn’t use them all that often, mainly checking her phone to text her friends or to take a photo but she’s definitely getting more comfortable by the day
what kind of profile picture(s) does your muse use on various apps? how often do they change their profile pic/icon?
she keeps the same photos for all her personal accounts. she probably changes it often, but if she likes a picture it’ll stay for a few months
are they someone who takes a ton of photos when they’re with friends or family? do they end up in a lot of photos?
definitely takes a lot of pictures, shes the friend that somehow always ends up catching you doing something ridiculous, so she has takes enough photos to capture them. i think she’d probably end up in a fair amount as well, she’s definitely not camera shy.
if given the opportunity, would your muse prefer to make money through an online channel rather than a traditional job?
i wouldn’t say suki’s job is incredibly traditional already, and there is a fair amount of promoting through social media that she has to do already so it’s kind of a mix of both already, but i think she would still want to keep training and teaching regardless of if most of her income came from social media.
do they have any hobbies that take up a lot of their time? what are they? are there any special interests your muse has that they like to share with people? are there any that they keep secret?
suki definitely loves being busy. she is a very outdoorsy person, and loves to be always moving. but one of their favorite things to do is honestly to just go swimming. they grew up on an island and has spent so much time swimming they really miss having that access to water here, so they’ll find a river/pool anything they can to swim. i don’t think suki keeps like anything secret really so if you wanna know about a hobby, they’d tell you.
your muse has a whole day to themselves but not enough time to plan a trip or event. what do they do for that free day?
they’d probably grab breakfast, enjoy a really slow easy morning, maybe go for a hike, do some training, and then go to the gym they have a membership at to go swimming for like the whole afternoon. then go get dinner with sokka and enjoy a chill night together before enjoying the fact that they live alone together :)
does your muse listen to anything in particular in their private time? if so, are they more of a music person or a podcast person? what genres do they prefer?
suki definitely puts on those like work out centric playlists at work a lot and kinda just finds music in there that she likes. they’re big into upbeat pop, lowkey loves kpop.
would your muse prefer to go out to spend time with loved ones, or would they rather stay in?
out with loved ones !!! let them plan a fun day out !!!
does your muse use any dating apps, or do they prefer to meet people the old fashioned way?
suki is currently in a relationship so they do not use dating apps !! she would prefer to meet people the old fashioned way however if sokka was out of the picture!
if they absolutely had to write a tinder bio what would it say?
don’t send me muscle pictures, i’d like to have a guy with personality.

Okay, ep 6 of live action avatar. so far the best, and it’s so frustrating, because in that i see the potential that this thing has. that chat with aang and zuko, after the escape, i liked it. because for a moment, the show paused. it stopped with the exposition, it stopped with the plot, and it just breathed in those characters for a moment. i was interested in what was happening. but it was also frustrating, because; why are you making me care about the relationship between zuko and aang, before making me care about the relationship between aang, katara and sokka. if they could’ve put that energy into them, allowed them to have moment where i care about them, this could’ve been so much better. not having sokka and katara do much anything in that episode worked in the animation, because it was one of twenty. this was one of eight. that’s a very different thing, and it’s clear that the show doesn’t care about sokka and katara.
what they should’ve done, is cut the original show into it’s bare bones. leave all the extra plot out, that isn’t necessary, and spend the time they have; not creating new plot to fill that, but to explore the characters. take time, show the audience why we should care about them.
also, the agni kai scene. i’ve seen a lot of people say, that because this is live action, it’s going to be a lot darker. but that scene showed them do pretty much the opposite. nothing about the original agni kai needed to be changed, it was already really dark. but that could have changed, is how they told that story. they could’ve done like they did in that episode, and show fully what happened, but no changes. because no one did speak out for zuko. Iroh looked away. and zuko didn’t fight back. he didn’t try to defend himself. he just begged for forgiveness. if they wanted to go the dark route, they should’ve kept that. they could’ve shown ozai walk over to zuko, telling him to get up and figth, while zuko refuses to do so. they could’ve literally shown ozai cradling zuko’s face in his hand in a moment of comfort, that for a moment makes people and zuko thing it’s going to be okay, before lighting his whole palm on fire. but then they couldn’t get away with not making his scar a proper scar.
i did like the idea of having a scene in which ozai tells zuko he’s banished. but even on that one, i would’ve made a few changes. i think they should’ve remembered that the agni kai was for speaking out of turn, and the banishment was for refusing to fight and therefore dishonouring himself. there were no real reasons, there was no right way to act in an agni kai (a battle to death), that would’ve resulted any better, and ozai knew that. he wanted to get rid of zuko, because he liked azula more.
yeah, i don’t know if any of this made sense, i just kinda wrote out my thoughts. i guess if i had to summarise this, it’d be just, i wish they’d spend more time on the characters and the relationships between them instead of on useless plot that no one gives a shit about.
also, removing sokka’s sexism arc is not progressive, it just gives you an out from actually talking about sexism in depth and from making sokka wear a dress.

warmth - zuko x fem!reader

and NO that end part is not dirty it is simply two kids sharing a bed for warmth bc they got cute lil crushes on each other 🔫🔫🔫🔫
wc: 1.6k
warning(s): this is pure fluff bbbbbb
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Three times.
It happened three times before Zuko was finally able to get over himself and have a real, face to face, one on one conversation with the one person he hadn’t been able to get out of his head.
Y/N. It was a name that had made a home in his mind, belonging to a girl that had made a home in his heart. He knew that she was a waterbender from the Northern Tribe and that she had joined the team after the Siege of the North, but apart from that, her life was a mystery to him. She was a mystery to him.
It was pathetic. How could he become so enraptured with a girl when he didn’t even know the first thing about her? When he had spent the past couple of months fighting against her, trying everything in his power to hurt her? When she had no idea he even thought about her that way?
Sometimes Zuko questioned himself, but then he caught a glimpse of her — the gleam of her hair, the way her eyes crinkled at the edges when she laughed, the fierceness with which she fought rivalled only by the way she cared for her injured friends afterwards — and he laughed inwardly.
There was no way he couldn’t feel that way about her. She was simply enchanting.
But there was only one thing he questioned more than his affections — why in the name of Agni could he not just walk up and start a conversation with her? There was no one else in the world that made him as nervous, as flushed, as completely incapable of basic speech as Y/N, and it drove him insane.
It drove him insane that it took three times.
~~~
The first time he noticed her shivering, it wasn’t on purpose.
Zuko was serving tea to everyone as they gathered around the campfire, chuckling as Aang recounted one of their earlier adventures, back when he was still trying to capture the Avatar. Thinking about his past, who he used to be, was painful, but it gave him all the more reason to be thankful for where he was now.
He wasn’t as focused on Aang’s story as he was on Y/N, though. She could hardly keep her thoughts to herself, interrupting every couple of seconds to add a detail that Aang forgot or give her own input on the events that he was describing. He started to frown as he noticed her shivering despite sitting right next to the fire — Zuko didn’t even realize how distracted he was until he felt someone hitting his arm.
“Hey!” He was snapped out of his reverie by the harshness of Katara’s voice, angrily gesturing at the broken teacup and now spilled tea all over Haru.
“Oh— I am so sorry,” he stammered as he crouched down and started to pick up the pieces on the ground. “Are you okay?”
“It’s just.. really hot tea,” Haru muttered with a small wince. “No big deal.”
“You’re right. It’s not a big deal.” Y/N raised her hand and with a small, fluid movement, she bent the liquid out of the fabric and formed it into a tiny sphere in the air. “See? Good as new. And you’re not even burnt.”
Haru chuckled and pulled at his tunic, giving Y/N a grateful nod.
“Can a sky bison drink tea?” She mused as she moved the liquid orb around in the air.
“I don’t think so,” Aang said with a small laugh.
“Shame we have to waste it.” Y/N bent it away from the group and let it fall to the ground, sinking into the rock below them. “Zuko can always make more though, right?” She said with a hopeful smile.
“Uh, yeah. Of course.”
“See, guys? No harm, no foul. You’re the best, Zuko.” She gave him an overexaggerated wink then began to pester Aang to get back to the story, leaving Zuko to continue handing out tea and keep his shaking hands as steady as possible.
She really had no idea the effect she had on him.
~~~
The second time? It was definitely on purpose.
The night was unusually cold, even with the bonfire blazing in the middle, and he found his eyes trained once more on Y/N. This time she was the storyteller, giving them all a taste of Northern Water Tribe culture as she recounted a bedtime story she was told as a child. She had a whole arsenal of character voices at her disposal, keeping everyone thoroughly entertained despite the numerous lines she forgot. Zuko didn’t even realize he was staring until Sokka elbowed him in the elbow, gesturing at her with a nod of his head and a cocky grin.
“What are you doing, just gawking at her like that?”
“Wh— gawking? I am not gawking. I’m— I’m just listening to her.”
“Yeah, sure. But I’m pretty sure Appa could start talking right now and you wouldn’t notice because you are hopelessly into her.” He gestured at Zuko’s eyes with his hand then in Y/N’s direction. “Gawking.”
“I— I am not!” He protested, tearing his eyes away from Y/N’s animated face to give Sokka one of his signature glares. He lowered his voice to a whisper to ensure that no one would hear them. “I’m not into her, I’m not gawking, I am appreciating her storytelling.”
“Uh huh, yeah.” Sokka looked at her and grinned before glancing back at Zuko. “If you’re not into her, then I can ask her out, right?”
Zuko didn’t respond, simply kept glaring at him in hopes that it would intimidate him into backing down so he wouldn’t have to say anything and risk embarrassing himself.
Sokka chuckled and held up his hands. “Alright, geez, I’m just joking. But maybe use some of that fire to keep it going? Looks like she’s cold.”
Almost immediately, he broke eye contact and fueled the fire with a simple blast. Y/N shot him a grateful smile and nodded as she continued her story, and Zuko noticed her hands falling back down into her lap from their former place on her arms.
No amount of fire could’ve caused as much warmth as her smile. He was sure of that.
~~~
There was no way he could miss it the third time. After all, she was the only one there.
Zuko hadn’t been able to sleep so he ended up outside, and there she was — sitting there, all alone in the middle of the temple grounds, shivering quietly with a moonless night sky as her backdrop. Before he could second guess himself, Zuko started walking over.
“Hey.” Y/N greeted him without even looking up as she pulled her arms around herself, bringing her legs up to her chest in an effort to conserve all the warmth she could.
“Hey.” Zuko took a seat on the ground next to her and crossed his legs. “Are you cold?”
She let out an airy chuckle and nodded. “Strange, isn’t it? I grow up surrounded by snow and ice and I’m perfectly fine, but after a few months away a couple of breezes are tearing me down. I don’t get it.”
“You’ve been shivering a lot lately,” he said after a beat of silence. Y/N raised an eyebrow and gave him a wry smile.
“What, have you been looking?”
That sent him stammering. “I-I— yes? I mean— no, I’ve noticed, but I’m not actively looking at you, that’s weird, I’m not— I mean—”
Y/N threw her head back and laughed, the same laugh that sent flutter bats through his stomach and made his heart burst with happiness. She set her hand on his and squeezed, giving him a gentle look that almost immediately ceased his rambling. “Zuko, it’s alright. It’s… nice that you’ve noticed. Like you’re looking out for me or something.”
He opened his mouth to respond but couldn’t find his voice — he was sure his cheeks were as red as his tunic, just at the simple touch of her hand — and it only got worse as she placed her other hand on top of it.
“You’re warm,” Y/N muttered. “Like… intensely warm.”
“Is that bad?” He wondered aloud, preemptively panicking. “Do you want me to turn it off? I can’t turn it off, but I could find a way somehow—”
“Thank you,” she interrupted with another small laugh, “but no. I don’t need you to uh, turn off your firebending. That already happened once. But you’re adorable to think of me like that.”
The two of them stared into each other’s eyes, the air between them heavy with something she couldn’t quite place. Y/N pursed her lips and bit back a growing smile as she glanced at the ground.
“This is, uh… really helping. With the cold, I mean. And I was… I guess I was just…” Another laugh. “I was just wondering if you’d maybe want to spend the night with me? Just because my room is especially freezing, and you’re so warm, and I think I would sleep a lot better if I—”
Now it was his turn to interrupt her rambling. There was something about her getting so flustered about him in the same way he did around her that made this easier. “I’d love to.”
“Great,” she breathed, the same smile from before returning just a little bit brighter. Y/N stood up and they began their walk back into the temple, hands still intertwined, warmth emanating between the two of them.
Three times.
Two strikes.
One success.
And that was all he needed.

Imagine seeing Ozai’s angels for the first time and being in awe
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You’d joined the Avatar and his friends quite early on and had been with them ever since. They’d initially recruited you for protection as despite not being a bender you were a very skilled bodyguard and so you got roped into protecting the avatar. You usually took your job very seriously but sometimes things (or people) could distract you.
Meeting Number One: Ty lee
You’d all arrived at Omashu to see if King Bumi could be Aang’s earthbender teacher only to find the whole city had fallen to the fire nation. In your attempt to free all the citizens a fire nation baby had been separated from his parents and Aang arranged a trade. Bumi for the baby. You had your weapons within your grasp and were toying with them as you waited to see who you would be dealing with in this trade. You heard someone approaching and turned to see three beautiful women. You weren’t sure what you’d been expecting but this was certainly not it. The three walked up in formation and you just stared "wow". "What?" Sokka asked from beside you and you shrugged "nothing....just do you think all fire nation girls look like that?”. Sokka shrugged “I guess?”. “I really need to visit the fire nation then” you whistled and Sokka shook his head at you. Aang started talking and you eagerly watched hoping to find out more about this interesting trio. You soon found out the one on the right was a princess and the one in the middle was called Mai but the other one didn’t have a name yet. You thought they were all pretty cool and then when you saw them fight...you were speechless. The princess Azula went for Aang leaving you and Katara with Mai and the other girl. Katara called she’d deal with Mai and so you got the nameless pink lady. She sprang into action and you were very impressed at how quick and flexible she was. “Wow you’re amazing” you cried as she vaulted over you. The girl smiled slightly “thanks”. You blocked her attack but didn’t bother retaliating, you just wanted to see what she could do. She didn’t disappoint. Soon the girl gave you no other option but to react. You defended yourself keeping out of her way and soon found the pattern she fought in. Sensing the fight was rounding to a close you decided to find out more about her while you could. “So you got a name?” you asked. “Ty lee” she replied and you nodded “figures, pretty name for a pretty girl”. The girl smirked at you and you both jumped to hear Katara yell. Mai had successfully pinned her and was watching you two. “Ty lee what are you doing! Get her”. “I’m trying but she’s...interesting”. You smiled at the compliment and Mai sighed “fine i’ll do it”. You grinned as now both the girls fixed their attention on you before realising that was actually a bad thing. Mai raised her knives and you contemplated your life choices when suddenly Appa appeared and knocked them away from you. You rushed to free Katara and then hopped onto Appa’s back, leaving the trio of cool women behind you.
You managed to find Aang and escape but the trio had certainly left an impression. “Still want to move to the fire nation?” Sokka asked you and you nodded “without a doubt, they were the most interesting women i’ve ever seen!”. Katara turned at the pure excitement in your voice and raised an eyebrow “You’re not serious?”. In reply you just shrugged “hey don’t blame me! Angry powerful women are my weakness” you cried. Sokka nodded “that is true, remember in that fight against June? She was useless”. You smiled at the memory “she was so cool....” you stared off into space and the others all rolled their eyes. “Well be that as it may, you have to find a way to stay strong and ignore them, can you do that?” Katara asked. You nodded “yep, totally” but you weren’t sure.
Meeting Number Two: Azula
A few weeks later you’d recruited an earth bender to teach Aang and everything was going great...then a giant tank began chasing you. You were very fed up at the metal tank following you until it opened up and three women exited. “It’s Mai, Ty lee and Azula!” you cried and Katara looked at you “you know you could try to sound less excited when you say their names, they are trying to kill us”. You smirked “sorry?”. “Who?” Toph asked. “Mai, Ty lee and Azula” you grinned “okay so i’ll start with Ty lee, basically she’s this insanely beautiful acrobat who...”. “Maybe save this for later y/n” Sokka called and you nodded “yep good idea” and fled with the others.
The girls continued to pursue you and even you were losing your excitement at the idea. So when Aang decided to end it by confronting them you agreed. You accompanied Aang to an abandoned town to wait for them but they were taking a while. So, bored, you wandered onto the outskirts kicking rocks to pass the time.
You felt Azula before you saw her. You turned and locked eyes with the princess of the fire nation. “The princess Azula” you smiled “do I bow or is that too formal?”. “It wouldn’t hurt?” she shrugged before sending fire at your head. You dodged it with a laugh “not a talker huh?”. “Why would I waste my breath on the likes of you? A petty thief with no home or money, I do my research and you’re worthless”. Your smile didn’t even waver “awww you’re just saying that because we didn’t get to spend much time together last time...you’ll love me once you get to know me. Ty lee warmed up to me”. “I’m not like Ty lee” she replied and carried on attacking you. You had to agree, Azula was not like Ty lee, she was a lot rougher. Whilst Ty lee had been aiming to immobilise you Azula was aiming to seriously injure you at best. “Certainly not as friendly as Ty lee” you agreed “but that’s okay”. “Where is the avatar?” Azula called. “I’d rather talk about you” you replied “princess of the fire nation, that must be fun, it suits you”. “I know, now tell me where the avatar is or I will kill you” the princess retorted. “No you won’t, if you killed me then you’d never know where he is” you grinned. Azula groaned in frustration and threw a large wave of fire at you, knocking you over. She rushed after it and pinned you down on the floor “still not worried I’ll kill you?” she asked. You looked from the fire she’d conjured in her palm back to her face and smiled “damn those fire nation genes are good...I thought your brother was hot but you’re even better”. For just a second, Azula faltered and you used that second to break out of her grip. You threw Azula off you and scrambled up into a run. She was close behind you when you ran around the corner straight into a fight between Aang and Zuko. “Y/n where have you been?” Aang called while Zuko stared “Azula?”. “Brother” she replied. “Sorry Azula and I were spending some quality time together” you said loudly “but we’re here now”. Azula’s eye twitched and she attacked.
You and Aang only managed to get out of the encounter with the help of Sokka, Toph and Katara who all showed up to help. Then the tables turned and you had Azula outnumbered. You couldn’t believe the princess of the fire nation had been out-smarted but of course she hadn’t really. She used a distraction and then ran from the scene. You spotted her fleeing down a back street and smiled, the princess of the fire nation was immaculate and you expected nothing less.
Meeting Number Three: Mai
The next time you came into contact with Ozai’s angels was when they infiltrated Ba Sing Sei by dressing up as the Kyoshi warriors. Aang got a vision Katara was in danger and when you approached the earth king to tell him, the fake kyoshi warriors attack but something was familiar about them.
Toph took one of the warriors and you took the other. While you were sparring with your warrior you kept staring at her...something about the girl was very familiar, but you couldn’t place her. "You look really familiar...have we met before?" you asked. "Good eye" the girl grinned before she threw a knife at you. The minute you saw the knife it clicked and you grinned "you’re Mai the hot knife girl!" before realising you’d said that out loud "ow...". Mai raised an eyebrow and carried on attacking you. Mai was just as impressive as Azula and Ty lee but a lot cooler with a drier sense of humour. You admired her choice of weapon the most and found the way she fought with it strangely captivating, so much so you didn’t fight to immobilise her, honestly you didn’t even try as you just wanted to watch her. Toph had won her fight with Ty lee and rushed to help you, mistakenly figuring you were losing. Toph looked for an opening but as both your choices of fight were close combat she couldn’t attack without possibly hitting you. You and Mai dodged around one another but you knew this couldn’t last forever. "I’m sorry but i have to say it, you’re really good with knives" you grinned as you disarmed her. Mai glared "you literally just disarmed me". "Yeah but you’re seriously the closest a person has ever come to stabbing me!". Mai raised an eyebrow "i imagine a lot of people try to stab you?". You laughed in agreement and Toph and Sokka stared. "What are you doing y/n stop flirting and fight her!" Sokka yelled. "Ow right" you smirked getting back into a fighting stance when Azula appeared "this is over”. You dropped your hands as she held a flame to the earth king’s throat and Sokka and Toph followed suit. “Grab them” Azula called. Mai stepped to you as you were closest and grabbed your arms tightly twisting them behind your back. You blushed as she gripped you roughly and looked away. "Seriously y/n?" Sokka asked and Mai noticed rolling her eyes. "Shut up Sokka you’re embarrassing me" you spat when Mai chimed in “actually you’re doing that all on your own”. “Ow come on, you enjoyed that fight too admit it”. Mai paused and you grinned “knew it” and she yanked your arms tighter “quit talking and walk”. “Whatever you say Mai” you grinned and complied.
You couldn’t stop thinking about Mai in your cell and you shook your head in disbelief “they have to be the coolest trio that’s ever existed! Every single one of them is amazing”. Sokka sighed “y/n could you please try to not be in love with our captors?”. “I can’t help it!” you cried “Ty lee was sweet but powerful, Azula was deadly and impressive and Mai was cool and funny, they’re all knockouts”. “Well great how about we try and get their numbers on the way out?” Toph asked metal bending the door down and you grinned “I mean I wouldn’t say no”.
You, Sokka, Toph and the earth king escaped from your cells and looked for Bosco. You found him in the throne room with Mai and Ty lee and paused. Toph took out Ty lee with earth bending and you locked eyes on Mai. No matter your feelings you had to do this so you got into a fighting stance when Mai rolled her eyes. "Just take the bear" she said annoyed and you smirked "thanks Mai!". The earth king ran to Bosco and your group headed for the door but you paused looking at Ty lee trapped in such an uncomfortable position. “Will Ty lee be okay like that?” you asked and Mai nodded “i’ll get her out”. “Y/n” Sokka yelled and you nodded. “Well bye, hope you get out of that soon Ty lee and tell Azula I said goodbye, she gets jealous when I leave her out. Glad I got to finally meet you Mai” you smiled and with a wink you ran away. You heard Mai groan but Ty lee just giggled. “Bye y/n” you heard Ty lee call and the smile was still on your face when you caught up with the others. “Having fun?” Sokka asked and you nodded “I cannot wait until we see them again!”.
You successfully managed to get Katara and Aang out safely and you laid back on Appa contemplating everything. You knew you were on opposite sides but each of the girls was intriguing and redeemable, even Azula who had almost killed Aang was still only a daughter trying to prove herself to her abusive parents. You could sense there were so many layers to each of them and smiled as you leant back on your arms. Hopefully you’d seen them again soon and who knows...maybe when this was all over things could be different.
____
So this is basically my literal reaction to seeing Ozai’s angels for the first time. I remember watching them all fight and just fell helplessly in love with all 3 of them. Then I read the Kyoshi novels and realised I just have a thing for fire nation women (Rangi is amazing I love her so much and I’d write for her if she and Kyoshi weren’t the best couple ever, I can’t break them up even fictionally).

Can I request a toph x female reader. Toph charms female reader with her witty personality
Decided to do it as a hc, sorry for taking so long!
---
You were Aang’s old sister (by 1 year) and were a non bender.
You were with Aang when he ran from his responsibilities as an Avatar
You didn’t learn that you were an air bender until after waking up 100 years later
Even though air bending came to you late in life, you had a strong spiritual connection
When meeting the water tribe siblings, Sokka immediately annoyed you because he flirted with you all the time
Luckily, he stopped when you admitted to everyone that you preferred women
“Sokka I would bang Katara before ever thinking about going out with you.”
“You would WHAT?”
Your friends of course didn’t judge you because of your preference and understood that air benders were more of go with the flow people and didn’t encourage labels... unless it was the avatar label
You weren’t sure about Toph in the beginning
You couldn’t deny that she was an amazing earth bender but she just rubbed you the wrong way
Toph on the other, was completely smitten with you from the start, not that she would admit that
Aang could feel the turmoil between the two of you and forced the two of you to spend the day together when you were in Omashu
It had been a pretty quiet walk until Toph accidentally ran into someone
“Are you blind!?” The man yelled in anger, you went to respond but Toph beat you to it. “Yes I am.” She said with a blank face and you could only watch as the man grew uncomfortable and mumbled a quick apology before leaving.
“Oh my spirits!” You said with a laugh, “You should’ve seen that guy’s face!” “I can’t, I’m--” You cut Toph with a nudge, “Don’t ruin it... Maybe your not as bad as I thought you were.”
You started spending more time with Toph after you hung out that day and started to past her rough exterior.
One of your favorite things about her was her witty humor and fast comebacks
You all sat on the back off Appa silently as you kept a lookout for the library that Sokka wanted to visit. “I think I see it!” Toph yells out randomly and you watch with a laugh as everyone looks over to try and see if they could see the library before realizing they had been played.
“This totally looks like Appa!” Sokka wines as Katara makes fun of his art. “I totally see it.” Toph chimes in  as she lays on the ground near the siblings. “See! Toph get’s it... Wait a minute...” Sokka says as he realizes he got played, causing everyone else to fall out with laughter.
“Oh yeah, well your blind!” “And? I maybe blind but even I can tell that it is a ugly hand bag Sokka!”
You don’t know how but sometime throughout your journey, your feelings from Toph turned from friendship to more
You didn’t fully realize it until you almost lost her
“Toph! Don’t let go!” “Obviously!”
You did want to slap her at that moment, not in the mood for her comebacks but let it slide since she could have fallen at any moment.
“Toph...” You mumbled as the two of you were chilling in one of the guest rooms of the fire nation royal palace. “Yeah?” “I... Umm...” Toph moved closer to you and grabbed your hand. “You good?” You gulped, “Yeah, I just... Don’t know how to say this...” You trail off and Toph gives you a side eye. “C’mon you always have something to say.” She says with a smirk. You roll your eyes at her and decide to just pull her in for a kiss instead of trying to explain yourself.
When you pull away Toph is speechless.
“C’mon you always have something to say.” You mock and watch as Toph’s face heats up. “Shut up.”
