Can people I look(ed) up to, stop coming out as idiots recently -.-
Emilie Autumn: posting AI art claiming she painted it and ignores her fans calling her out and rather posts even more AI art
Anastasia Soko/lova: straight up says brands should not advertise for straight men to wear make up and straight men can’t wear womens lingerie because “Oh no, what will become of the masculine men? They will die out!! Kids can not see this or they grow up and become gay and feminine!!” (and she doesn’t understand why she get’s shit for it since she is such a LGBTq supporter. Can’t believe the first and probably only time she writes me is while I try to explain to her why her post sucks. not sure if she gets it but she agrees with me... idk man her english is not the best). tbh that’s her second offence in my books, since she’s also an anti-vaxxer & anti-meds, thinking that if your body doesn’t beat the virus on it’s own you / she (when she was sick) deserve to die. (I let that slide then since she was talking about herself at the time)

Me: but I have eyes, but it's sewn in, there's also meli, but there's also meli discomfort, and I'm having a breakdown, so well, suck both
I just have a strange feeling about Lord Art or something like that I didn't ask at first, I just draw normality (whole life and das normality) except that normally it's ok that normally link works sometimes they use my work o szadki and that's all o ok it doesn't bother me, it doesn't bother me, it doesn't work, only oc and generally the whole thing, only self oc ponds knows fan cheraters yara yara
but call me metor is a deam took much like i knows yes im can buding shadow a See not so flet das fact on self arts and they think my art is OK, what if it's a comic book anyway? it's more like it's normal, everyone does it and others get it, the heavens open their fucking legs XD seriously, if they find one, they will say some Lord Art and he has picked up on small elements *only in himself he points his ass at me about this fact* because I don't see him saying "it's fine" nope me only say lord's
so I immediately say my logic art me makes ok:

the shading is different, sometimes it was the usual, convex one, but it was very egg-shaped
then I thought it was more about point shadow elements, that it was daytime at all, so it was more like button shadow
and then there are these lines as if they were itching to rip it off, not really, it's black chen or shoper shadow, which means it's more vulgar, but don't tease me because it's not dark, it's just general
and so I mix these 3 logic shadow a going because dys a wona to because slow someone get same lines and not going blood ax das wona bit chages a self because knows logic
but in general knows a paper wogue, look, coputer skrin and das look back look pepers, i.e., I use good intuition and sometimes I look to see if I've lost something or something
and they are complaining that I am like other cams, as I say, I had no idea and I didn't say anything, and I just don't know, I'm sorry, other people who have a better idea that I like them, wadoo, like those anime people who have self-control and wadomo, and they still hit me for no reason
☯️🍰☯️🍰☯️🍰☯️🍰☯️🍰☯️🍰☯️🍰☯️🍰☯️🍰
Me: but I have a strange problem, you say that people themselves, because they are older, use AI because they are afraid that they will lose their heads. it's just a base ref someone say AI not a base ref and someone look and skic dys a more skils and say okey

the only problem is that the whole lord art was crazy about all this only on the children, these are children generally little blood like someone say a kirby someone how and overall, this is a psychological attack on me when they say that Lord Art is Ai and look it start going and das toxic not helping a been humer like sorry but is fact because more hate dys persen because i don't knows one style line a someone wona code radom sexy pick and skrue you because play get radom proity of art like none here like not expleing das frow you a hot tea and knows it
ale muwie soko tak lord art of AI working now das look pintrest and take care because see you working drowing like look it what like or love and dysfret frow a fire because not stop spam or stop coll you ONLY dys role or enifing wona miss gender finks down and do not expleing who or how ploblem like expleing normality
Like knows self skic dys a dys like on fine but dys like someone did and das cool because dys a take self silesly get a handel care for because dys been Real Stell resisting a been here a NOT only knows killing chader
🥑🍰🥑🍰🥑🍰🥑🍰🥑🍰🥑🍰🥑🍰🥑🍰🥑🍰
Me: I say me art look fine but not say a lord king a art or sowing enifing prince because i not so huge a dys dill and dont like it
Because wery wona look das say look pinters das enifing dys a wona go look radom raf/sick and take care

Got this framed today. I commissioned this lovely masterpiece from @sokoistrying of Dr Schneeplestein and Antisepticeye back to back, kind of like a hero pose lol. I’m very happy and so appreciative of the amount of time and hard work that she put into this. The next time she opens commissions, everyone, please place your orders! I found her talents here on tumblr through the shared JSE and Markiplier communities as well as many other beautiful artists. I’m very grateful for it, considering I’m an art geek and drool over art haha! Send her some love. She did an outstanding job ^_^

Inspired by @jjuuppiter’s “Filling Space” AU
zoom/tap for better quality. Sorry if it’s hard to view in mobile ( •́ω•̩̥̀ )
I wanted to draw something that looked like it’s from a movie scene so of course I did it by making ML fan art! This scene was inspired by Jupiter’s “Filling Space” AU, with Marinette mourning Adrien as she rides the metro train. The caption at the bottom is a lyric from First Love Never Die by SOKO.

Easter: Ten Anime for the Ten Commandments (II)
Tumblr media
Happy Easter again! As most of us remain locked up tightly at home, like the Disciples at the first Easter, we may still hope that Our Lord will pass from time to time through the walls. Yes, and eat a good plate of fish with us to prove that He is not a phantom as we stare at Him with our Nichijou faces.
Tumblr media
A new kind of life, as Nicodemus learnt, means to be with Christ in entirely new ways, to let us be guided by Him through circumstances one could never have anticipated. After all, He is the One who makes everything new. “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” Life becomes kind of like baseball, or perhaps kind of like Haruhi Suzumiya´s brand of baseball.
Anyway, in my last Easter article, I commented on that promise of Ezekiel concerning the Law being solidly written in the heart of the People of God, which will be then a heart of flesh and, by the obedience of the Son, defeat evil and darkness, participating in the victory of Christ. It is a prophecy which brings me great joy, perhaps because at heart I cannot help being a Izuku Midoriya, a fan of the triumph of the superhero. One of the consequences of this newness of the Easter mystery is precisely that now Christ is living in us without destroying or denying us, for God has not come to Earth to destroy His Creation, but with a thrilling plan to save it.
And just as Boku no Hero Academia´s world needs a Symbol of Peace at its center, and a received gift in the heart of such a hero to carry him beyond his limits, so it is with Our Lord, Crucified, Resurrected and Alive, and us. Our union with Christ will not be completed in this life, requiring as it does to go through death and beyond when the time comes. But such is the wonderful, strange hope of the Christian. Back to the Ten Commandments, then, to that intimate, deep and heroic path at the heart of God´s creation, and at ours! A path that is both a prophecy and a spiritual portrait of sorts of our human and divine Messiah, and of which anime can offer some glimpses.
Tumblr media
“Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor” implies the prohibition of a human reality as commonplace and everyday as is lying. It is a striking Commandment: after all, as quite a few of us are uninteresting jerks at least most of the time, wouldn’t that be a little dull, sometimes unsafe and even depressing? Yet, many of us recall the anguish, the burning feeling of being confronted with a world of lies, and have felt the thirst for truth, for authenticity, and the intuition that others can lead us to deeper dimensions of both themselves, us and the world. Only in time, we came to learn that others, even among our loved ones, deceived us intentionally or unintentionally, and that we ourselves were often deceivers even as we tried not to be. Oregairu, a very rich show we have commented on a number of times here at Beneath the Tangles, is just about that discovery, that path and that feeling, and something more. Lies, the difficulty of truth, no doubt, but also the world beyond, what may be at the other side. “Sagashi ni yukunda soko e”| “I’ll head over there to search…”
The protagonists, Hachiman Hikigaya, “Hikki,” and Yukino Yukinoshita, are clever teenagers who see the world, not without reason, as a playground of liars, and who try to cope with it while remaining true to their respective characters. After a rough middle school in which both experienced the injustice and the superficiality of their classmates in different ways and for different reasons, they have fortified themselves using their intellects as a defense, which provides viewers a ton of hilarious monologue and dialogue. But this starts to change, little by little. Quite appropriately, in the first season they live in a cartoonish world and are drawn like caricatures of themselves, while in the second season, under the direction of Studio Feel, the world has gained in beauty, human-like characters, and beautiful colors. And each of the characters has given the rest something valuable and difficult to put a spin on.
Tumblr media
Hachiman, in particular, reminds me of my teenage self. He is just as self-satisfied, defensively analytical, socially awkward and comedically philosophical as I was, plus a reformed chuunibyou, all while harboring a deep thirst of real, meaningful human contact. After his experience during middle school, he surely thinks of youth and society as an elaborate setup, a game of phonies for power, and of himself as an uninteresting jerk. And yet (minor spoilers for the first and second seasons of Oregairu), he bears such a thirst, even if it is shameful, even if he knows it is out of the question, even if he honestly thinks that communicating with others and getting to know them is impossible in the real world. Recently I have come across the translation of the second opening, Harumodoki (“False Spring” or “Imitation Spring”). It is beautiful, and also well worth a read:
“I don’t want this replica I’ll only be satisfied with something I can call the ‘real deal’ I’ll head over there to search…
“But that’s like a time-old fairy tale”
I gaze at the empty space where my answer has disappeared It should have been filled in But however hard I try, I can’t tell for sure”
Hikki has a good head, for sure, but that can be a disadvantage as much as an advantage in trying to find the truth (after all, it is easy to cleverly deceive ourselves for us intellectual types, and we should learn from the Gospel that the wise of the world are in danger of hiding the important things from themselves). But he also has the integrity of the people he admires, even if it is not always bulletproof; the good instinct of friends and relatives, even if they sometimes cannot really argue with him; the wisdom and advice of patient mentors, even if he is a hard student; and most of all, the flawed, extraordinary humility and hope of my favorite character (because, I´m sure, these are the two essential requisites for aspiring to truth), even if… I will let it at that. And so he comes to be able to do soul searching when he is trapped in his own lies.
And, as he fights his inner shame, his lack of hope, the lies of the world and his own carelessness, he will try to say what he really wants to say. To express this desire: the hope of truth, even bearing with the unavoidable ugliness of something genuine. He wants to deepen the conversation, to go on. And this, in itself, opens the door to this whole new world where anything may happen, hard and difficult, for sure, but also increasingly authentic, and truly helpful. Because every word, when spoken with deep sincerity, has true power, and is a true vehicle of communion between the speaker and the one who hears. Not immediately, perhaps, but it will be. We are starting to see the fruits, and I hope that the third season may show us more of them. After all, “Tooi tooi haru wa/ yuki no shita,” |“The distant, distant spring is/ Underneath this snow”.
Tumblr media
If we go on and on with this part of vulnerability, openness and wisdom, it will ultimately lead us to God. Because Christ is the Truth, and every particular truth, every intimate truth, every ray of meaning we may discover on this Earth, is connected in some way to Him, to the truth of the Bible, and is some kind of sign of the Kingdom of Heaven. And God is truthful. He is truly in His Word. When Christ speaks, His words transcend time and place, and bring us to Him and to others, more solid that the heavens and the Earth, each of them a prophecy, each of them a sign of hope, a step closer. Harumodoki expresses our character´s fear that “However hard we try, things that can’t be seen/ Will end up fading from our memories.” But only He can assure us that “The heaven and the earth will pass away, but My words shall not pass away”.
Hikki, Yukino and Yui are starting to struggle for to learn to express our reality and the reality of the world; to be increasingly informed by it; and to help others towards the meaningful, ever-expanding, personal but solid truth. In the Bible, we translate the word “jada” as “to know,” and that´s what it means, but jada also implies “to deeply experience the truth of something,” as in “and they shall know that I am God,” “if you knew the gift of God,” “and no man knows the Son, but the Father; neither knows any man the Father, save the Son.” We cannot imagine yet what knowing this means, but hopefully we will. Our Lord is the Word of God, always sharing the truth with us, with every action, every conversation—always in conversation.
Hachiman invents new ways to get to the truth of the matter, overcoming this lie or that lie the others will not acknowledge. Christ does it better: He may be pretending to walk away in disguise so the disciples of Emmaus invite Him to dinner, letting Bartimaeus scream a little more before turning to him, rebuking a Pharisee, and laughing with Lazarus or chatting with His Mother, but He will be entirely in every single word, freely communicating Himself, the saving Truth of God, and searching for a way into our defenses. He is the True Witness. Through Him, we will get to know one another and the Father, and to communicate the living truth, ours and His at once. He finds our personal truths interesting and wants to speak with us. He wants to go deeper. And He has many things to tell us, things that will bring us closer and closer to whom we really are. “Arigatou chiisa na me mitsuketekureta koto/ kimi wa tsubuyaita,” |“Thank you, for finding this tiny sprout/ You whispered.”
Tumblr media
For the Seventh Commandment, “Thou shalt not steal”, I have chosen instead One´s Mob Psycho 100. The art is quite ugly, the main character is overpowered, the humor is somewhat hysterical, but in this particular show, these are not flaws. Imagine having supreme psychic powers (of a non-realistic kind), from telekinesis and super strength to levitation, and living in what seems to be a cramped world of screaming, vulgar nobodies. With such an insane range of abilities, so different from those of the rest of mortals, you can get what you want with a snap of your fingers, full of power and beauty they will never experience. You may feel that you don´t have to work to earn your part. You may ever think that this is the natural balance of things, and that the rest of the people work because they are either not so gifted, or maybe stupid, unimaginative or not strong enough to do otherwise. So you, the powerful one, the clever one, take what you want.
But the thing is, if you fall into this temptation and start bending the world to your will, exploiting others, you are impoverishing your world and that of others. Precisely when you think of yourself as a powerful, terrible force of nature, you are in fact choosing to become a parasite, a nuisance, a burden on the shoulders of those you are abusing. And that, when you could be someone who helps in building the world, a valuable part of the team, with whatever talents you have, is sad. It is a waste. By commuting injustice, I rob the talents I have of their proper glory, their goodness and role in the world. The thing is, most valuable things in life and society take work and coordination, often a lot of work and coordination. And after the Fall, work became hard and tiresome, and feels a little like death. The path where, in deep alliance with the world, you come to master the ability you need and put it to good use, and learn its wisdom, has become hard. The temptation of taking shortcuts and simply getting what you want, measuring the world according to your desires, is strong. And almost every character in Mob Psycho 100 falls into this temptation, whatever their ability.
But Shigeo Takeyama, Mob, the protagonist of the series, insists on doing the opposite, again and again. He may be the most powerful of psychics, but he will not be blinded by this fact. He knows his limitations. He wants to be physically strong, so he will train to exhaustion with those who are strong. He wants to be popular, so he will try to learn social skills, talk to girls, and even try to be school council president. He may be immensely strong, but is wise and humble enough to understand that he depends on others, and also that he needs to put it to constructive use and follow the natural rhythms of things and people. And he does that, again and again. He does his work, or tries to. And he repeats this lesson to every rival, with humility and strength.
Tumblr media
And we come to see it. Those who have built their lives on their own power and domination are ultimately childish and immature, even if they think of themselves as threatening, powerful, and imposing. To be truly strong, you train your body, and artificially inflated muscles will never be the same. Can you make glass? Grow food? Put it into a can? Distribute it through the country? That is a wonder, achieved by coordination and hard work. If not, when you break the showcase of a commerce to take it with your psychic powers (or whatever), when you try to get what you have not earned by shady means, when you slack off and bury the talent you could put to good use, when you take what is not yours without doing your part, the world is all the less rich for that,  and what you are becoming is the work of those whose part is solving these kind of injustices, like Mob. But if you work, you will slowly come to grow, enrich the world, help others, and learn that you need the work of others as well. You will build and mature. And hey, maybe these people are not so ugly after all, and maybe they can help build the world, or they are already doing so in one way or another.
Mob knows this. It is like the definitive anti-Matrix: forget all the anti-social coolness, the black clothes, the disdain for the lives of the non-redpilled, learning to pilot a helicopter in a minute and the Chosen One distorting the everyday world, and think about the valuable things around you, and how they got there, and how you can contribute. And Our Lord knew that, too. He told the Apostles that the leaders among the nations behaved like tyrants, and the great became oppressors, but that it must not be so among them. Instead, the great must serve, and the greater they are, the more they must serve. We will only be happy, mature, and grow when we are able to do so. And He Himself, the Lord and the Master, washed their feet, the humblest of labors, to show them that He has come to our world to build, to serve, for He loves us, for He wants a world of justice. He was not a burglar or a mercenary. He worked in our salvation everyday, with effort and humility everyday. God´s unlimited power, infinitely more vast than Mob´s, was, and is, used to serve us.
When we come to be able to imitate Him, every power, every talent, every strength, every leadership is a blessing for the world, ourselves and others, and thus true to its deeper meaning. And He, knowing that we need one another, also gave us the Church and the communion of saints, in which we share the goods He gives us. By praying for others, receiving help, offering up our sufferings, and taking care of the materially and spiritually poor, we are doing the same things for Him, for he identifies with those in need, the hungry we can feed, and the thirsty we can satiate with our talents and riches, which will then be glorious, shining treasures of Heaven in this anodyne world.
Tumblr media
And lastly (for now), there is the Sixth Commandment, “Thou shalt not commit adultery.” I have commented on the beauty of chastity before, but it is much harder to do so while maintaining the “minor spoilers” profile I have chosen for these articles. Unless, of course, I use the one romantic comedy series that starts with the protagonists going out in the very second chapter, and goes on from there: I´m referring, of course, to Ore Monogatari, literally “My love story.” This is a very wise show, one which I really wish I had watched before having a girlfriend for the first time, and whose solid Austenian ethics and character comedy have also been brilliantly commented here by our writer Annalyn a number of times, saying, among other things, “Also, everyone should watch Ore Monogatari.“ I concur.
If the first thing which makes Ore Monogatari different from your standard romantic comedy is how fast the protagonists come together, the second is undoubtedly the protagonist, Takeo Gouda. The guy is a beast! Seriously, he is huge! He is fiery, clumsy, loud—a teenager who looks like an adult, and is questioned by the police if he waits in front of the school, bigger than everybody else, compared by others (and by the opening) to a gorilla! And he is impulsive, too: He shouts, he cries, he laughs, he gets angry, and he falls in love every year. When he eats, he devours. And yet (minor spoilers ahead), his new girlfriend, Rinko Yamato, is small and delicate, timid and a good cook of small and delicious sweets. Her friends are absolutely flabbergasted, even worried. What is this red ogre going to do to her?
Tumblr media
But Yamato´s friends are wrong. Because Takeo, for all his strength and threatening face, has the virtue of subordinating his strength, his fire, and his powerful body to his will, for taking care of others and to sacrificial love. He is very able to appreciate things, to be able to show delicacy. And we come to understand what Yamato has seen at first glance: That his enormous body can and does convey his kindness, his forbearance, and both his strength and his vulnerability as he opens to her. That, even if he looks scary, he would never harm her, and she is safe with him, no matter how strong his feelings for her. That, even if he is strongly attracted to her (or maybe precisely because of that, because she is a precious woman to him, and dear to his heart) he will only touch her, or take her hand, when he is convinced that she wishes him to do so, and will understand it as a sign of love and intimacy. That he is a true man, and for Yamato as a woman, also an attractive one.
Of course, the desire to love another person right does not automatically solve the complicated problems of relationships. From minute one, there is a misunderstanding when he thinks he is being pure and protecting her by avoiding physical contact, when she wishes that he would take her hand, and in time come to kiss her. But that is what allows them to enter this new adventure in such a way that every gesture, every look, every touch, every feeling (or so they intend and fight for) matures in the heart, sometimes refined with fire of passion and tenderness and, without losing any of its strength, to be personal, intentional, meaningful, directed to the specific person that they love. Takeo Gouda. Rinko Yamato.
Tumblr media
So we will see them explore, in the midst of their everyday lives, with deep emotion and care, how to make this person happier and more of who they are: affectivity, corporeality, personal biography, defects, learning, the struggle to be better, social and family life, dreams and hopes. The deep, strange, personal realms of the heart, which have been waiting for “the man” or “the woman,” will open from the inside, one by one, and ignite in new light: That between them, who would let the other suffer alone if that was the best for him of her, there will be something new, complementary, shared, stronger because they are together, in increasingly deep communion. Maybe including, eventually, everlasting commitment, sexual union and new life, reflecting the always deeper, always more alive, always more intimate, always more rich love that God provides each of us, a generous, personal love which brings new life to us and the world.
And the body is important, as part of us as the soul. We are incarnated spirits, one being, as Serial Experiments Lain shows it in a powerful way. Our bodily reality was intended by God, and all of it is meaningful in some way, even if veiled by our scars, deformities, and wounds, for ourselves, and for others. God chose to take flesh, to Incarnate too, and he decided that His steps would be the steps of God, His eyes, the eyes of God, His hands, the hands of God. He gave us His body and blood at the Last Supper, and the communion he established with us that way goes even further than that of the husband and the wife, which while retaining its intrinsic goodness and its character of path to holiness, in a way is a prophecy for it, as St. Paul notes. And this is also hopeful, because He will save and complete the person we love in a way we cannot. As Ore Monogatari shows, when you truly love someone, this becomes a major issue: Some things are out of our reach, the loved one suffers in ways we cannot understand, we inadvertently hurt the other. But God can do what we cannot, and in Him, our communion will be greater. He truly gives us the hope of a pure bridge, and of a happily ever after.
And yet, Our Lord was and remains virginal. This has a powerful meaning, too. Chastity is not only for the married, but for us too, because our body is also a part of our relationship with God, who loves us in body and soul, and how we relate to our intimacy and our impulses is a part of learning to be gradually closer to Him. Impurity leads to blindness. As Annalyn brilliantly (and enlighteningly) pointed out, Suna, the friend, the third character on this trio, is an example of this celibate love. On Earth, the celibate keep company to the married, aid them in their struggles, struggle themselves to deepen their intimate relationship with the Lord, and remind others and themselves that there are other possibilities, and that our body ultimately points to Him, in whose image and likeness our full being was created. They are friends of the Spouse.
And this is it for now. Next time, I´ll go for the Fifth, the Fourth and the Third Commandments. Stay safe!

Oregairu, Mob Psycho 100, and Ore Monogatari can be streamed on Crunchyroll.

I went to seoul comic world this past saturday and had the lovely experience of being surrounded by people who were excited to be getting merch of their faves and meeting creators they love! it was one of those “I am amongst my people” moments that reminds me why I love fandom.
highlights of my visit included:
little girl expressing disappointment to her dad: “there’s no inuyasha these days!”
that one girl in front of me at a booth asking for every single kenma item available, which meant she kept saying “and the christmas kenma. and the suit kenma, please. oh and the idol kenma.” (you go get those kenmas, girl. I’d do the same for my faves.)
group of teenage boys urgently discussing “I can’t afford to keep buying all these but she’s my fave”/”dude, yolo”
a fan and artist who seem to be online acquaintances saying hello and plying each other with gifts while squeeing over each other
a person who was way too tall to be cosplaying sans undertale rocking the cosplay anyway
it’s been a while since I’ve been a member of a major anime fandom and holy shit, there was. so much amazing merch. it was so good for me and so bad for my wallet. here’s an overview of my entire haul from one afternoon:
Tumblr media
that is 3 posters, 2 fanbooks, 3 sticker sheets, 1 glasses cleaner, 15 laminated cards, and 51 postcards. yeah, I know. but they’re so fucking PRETTY.
to show you how pretty they are, I’m providing closer looks at all the goods and also links to all of the artists I bought them from under the cut :) most of them are haikyuu but there’s a sprinkling of bnha, gintama, I don’t want this kind of hero, and assassination classroom!
okay here’s an overview of the merch and posters from a different angle
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the posters are each roughly the size of my torso, so they’re fairly big! I never buy posters but...these were SO GOOD. they were displayed like a set and I’m compelled to buy full sets whenever possible...so I got all three of them (and I don’t regret it at all!). I’m kinda glad the rest of the team wasn’t there, because if I’d bought that many posters...
the artist of the posters is Tien (@tienal_ent)!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
okay so I bought two gintama fanbooks despite not having kept up with the series in a few years, but okikagu is a timeless pairing so I bought them both anyway! they’re funny and cute and the art style is super clean! the artist, Kwonrugger (@kwonrugger), also had a double-sided postcard I loved (seen above) and drew the four haikyuu cards above as well! the two assassination classroom cards on the right were from Reui (@reui_)
Tumblr media
okay so I got myself a new glasses cleaner because I love kageyama...and also that idol postcard set literally kicked me so hard in the gut I spat out my money instantly. the artist is Salty (@myoch_jr)!!
Tumblr media
okay aren’t these ADORABLE. the cat stickers are from 용고양이 (@Yongcat_)! I bought the pokemon haikyuu postcards from the same booth, but I’m not sure if it’s by the same artist or if two people were splitting the booth ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Tumblr media
okay so we all know I’m weak to chess imagery and this haikyuu chess card set was designed to kill me. IT’S SO SPARKLY, GUYS. the artist is 사구호 (@fortynine49ho)!!
Tumblr media
there was SO MUCH bnha merch at the con but I restrained myself to just buying these! the amazing set on the left is from Loble (@Lobleble), and the lovely cards on the right are from Lukapang (@K_LUKA_45). it’s a set of five with the girls but I also purchased the midoriya postcard because LOOK AT HIM. HE’S PERFECT.
Tumblr media
so most of these postcards are for I don’t want this kind of hero, which is still one of my favorite webtoons of all time, and the fact that it still has a healthy amount of merch at cons despite being ending over a year ago makes me so very happy. and there’s that tsukishima in the corner, proving my tsukki bias precedes all things. the artist for this batch is Pica (@gmlwls2612).
Tumblr media
both sets of these incredible team postcards are from MMMA (@ummm_mmma), and they had such an amazing selection of merch that it was mindblowing.
Tumblr media
okay so like...this reaper set suckerpunched me so bad that I automatically yanked my cash out before I consciously decided to. isn’t this set AMAZING. everybody looks SO FANTASTIC (but especially BOKUTO, holy FUCK). tsukishima isn’t part of the set and was part of a different one, but I wanted him so bad that I got him separately. this artist has just. THE BEST STUFF. if I see them at the con next time I might raid their whole booth. you can find them as Bari (@bari_dal)!
Tumblr media
this postcard set ties with the previous reaper set as my two favorite sets from this haul, though this one just might rank a little higher because tsukki is officially part of it (and I really love the pop of the colors). I have a deep and abiding love for the 3rd gym group so I’m glad to see such a gorgeous set of them!! the artist is Soko (@nijiaka_soko)!
Tumblr media
and lastly, the only ship-related merch from the whole haul not counting the fanbook are these two kagetsuki postcards from the wonderful HJ (@197_369). I am always in need of more content with these two. or just...any tsukki pairing really...
so that’s the end of me showing off the goods! I’m overall incredibly happy with the outcome of this shopping spree, and I’m now gonna puzzle over where...I’m putting all of these.

The secret talents of stars, from Madonna to Bob Dylan and Ryan Gosling
By Marie Périer, translated by Stephanie Green on 06 August 2018
There are 10 slides with stories. Kristen is #4 and Rob is #9. I listed them.
Tumblr media
4/10 Kristen Stewart:
Who? Kristen Stewart A César-award winning actress turned singer, guitarist and artist
Kristen Stewart doesn’t restrict herself only to acting – she’s talented in many different art forms. The actress incorporates her music skills into her roles, like in the 2010 biopic The Runaways, which allowed her to show off her rock music talents. Playing the role of Joan Jett, the then-20-year-old actress effortlessly played the guitar to produce epic riffs. Not only that, but the singer used her singing skills in Queens of Noise and Dead End Justice. With her on-screen partner Dakota Fanning, who played Cherrie Curry, they sang many songs throughout the movie. Her unique voice helped her get scouted by an agent during a school Christmas concert when she was only 7 years old. In Into the Wild, a best-selling adaptation directed by John Krakauer, a 17-year-old Kristen sang and played guitar for many songs on the original soundtrack. She has shared her passion for music with previous romantic partners, including Robert Pattinson, French singer Soko and St Vincent. Inspired by Seventies rock music, Kristen Stewart revealed to Patti Smith herself in Interview magazine in 2015 that she got into painting after reading her memoir, Just Kids: “Just Kids made me want – you know, it's super-romantic and cheesy – but I genuinely started making paintings because of you." However, she keeps her art works secret – for the moment, anyway.

9/10 Robert Pattinson
Who? Robert Pattinson Actor turned singer
Pattinson, who is best known for playing the famous vampire in Twilight, has more than one trick up his sleeve - he’s composed a lot of music for the movies he’s starred in. Since he was young, the English actor has sung and played guitar and piano. For the first of the Twilightmovies, he sang two songs on the original soundtrack, Never Think and Let Me Sign, and he also sang three new songs in the 2009 movie How to Be.  Robert Pattinson has often said that if he wasn’t an actor, he would be a musician. In 2010, he received the “Hollywood’s Most Influential Top Unexpected Musicians” award, and many sources have hinted that the star is going to release his own blues album one day. "I generally just do stuff that sounds nice. I don’t really write songs in a conventional way. I don’t write lyrics separately, it’s quite instinctive."

Region B Wishlist
Whenever I used to visit Amoeba Music on Sunset Blvd (which was at least once a month, 2016 through 2017), I’d make a beeline for the staircase, up up and away to the movie department. Directly to my right at the top of the staircase, in a display rack stretching the entire length of the floor, sat a single column of movies known to me as the “non-Region A” section. I could rely on the movies lurking in this small section to turn my eyes green with envy: a gorgeous Region B Blu-ray of Possession, the Vanessa Redgrave vehicle Isadora, and several other movies that seemed like the stuff my dreams were made of. Unfortunately, at the time, I had yet to invest in a region-free Blu-ray player, so that section of movies taunted me on my monthly visits to Amoeba, as I’m sure they do to many movie fans that lack the proper technology to play them.
For those uninitiated into the world of movie collecting, different regions of the world have differently coded discs that only play in that region’s disc players. Back in DVD’s heyday, that consisted of Region 1, 2, and 3. Now, in the age of Blu-ray, those regions are alphabetical rather than numerical: A, B, and C. Region A discs play in the Americas and some countries in Southeast Asia, including Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. Region B discs play in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand. Region C discs play in any Asian countries not covered by Region A. Film copyright holders like region coding because they want to control when movies are available in specific countries. (I assume because they can make more money if they sell the American, European, and Asian distribution rights separately.)
Movie collectors, however, hate region coding. Which is why I finally splurged on my region-free Blu-ray player. I bought my first Region B discs online at Foreign Exchange Blu-ray Imports, a neat store in Culver City, California with reasonable prices and an online catalog. (You can check them out on Facebook here.) I picked up Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger’s adaptation of the opera Tales of Hoffmann from StudioCanal and the Vincent Price camp horror classic The Abominable Dr. Phibes from Arrow Video.
While I’m thrilled that I can now watch movies unavailable to the majority of casual viewers in the United States, I still hope and pray for Region A releases of the following five gems, both for simplicity’s sake and to better keep these films accessible to future appreciative audiences.
Martin, 1978, directed by George A. Romero
Martin is a disturbing little film shot in the Pittsburgh suburbs about a maybe-vampire teenage boy, who looks an awful lot like a Sprouse twin. (So maybe Cole and Dylan are the real vampires?) With black and white fantasy sequences, the gruesome reality of Martin’s vampiric conquests contrasts with his internal, romanticized version of events.
Arrow Video released a Region B DVD a few years ago, though it’s now out of print. Diabolik DVD had a Japanese Region A disc available for a time, though it sold out quickly. I hope that Martin’s copyright hell freezes over, because I would freak out for a Region A Blu-ray that I don’t have to scramble to pre-order online before it sells out. In the meantime, you can watch the movie on YouTube until legal means become available:

Napoleon, 1927, directed by Abel Gance
I probably could write several articles about the various silent films no longer available on disc in North America. (I’m still waiting for the latest restoration of Mauritz Stiller’s Saga of Gosta Berling to make its physical media debut, now that the Kino Lorber DVD is out of print.) I am planning to invest in the BFI’s Region B Blu-ray of Abel Gance’s Napoleon sooner rather than later, both because of its historical significance and the care that went into restoring it. Kevin Brownlow, film historian and author of such tomes as The Parade’s Gone By…, spent 20 years painstakingly piecing Napoleon back together and continues to discover and restore missing scenes to this day. Gance shot the final reels of Napoleon using innovative Polyvision technology, which means that the film requires three projectors to play three separate reels side-by-side for the ultimate in widescreen presentation.

Isadora, 1968, directed by Karel Reisz
I only watched the biopic Isadora thanks to a Korean copy available at my once-upon-a-time local video store in South Pasadena, Videotheque. (Visit them online here.) The sound was a bit shrill, but the image looked decent and I still enjoyed the stunning performance from a young Vanessa Redgrave as the groundbreaking dancer Isadora Duncan. The movie also features a cameo from early Hollywood star Bessie Love as Isadora’s mother.
undefined
youtube
Isadora would make a great double feature with the more recent film, The Dancer, giving a contrasting depiction of what it personally means to be an artist and a dancer: for Isadora, it’s a fancy-free attitude and imagination, for Loie Fuller, it was back-breaking work and determination. (Though Lily Rose Depp as Isadora is a disgrace, Soko slays as Loie Fuller.) I’m unaware of any plans to make Isadora widely available in North America, but you can find clips on YouTube to get a taste of what we’re missing out on.

The Devils, 1971, Ken Russell
I won’t go into much detail on this movie, because you can already read about my previous experience with The Devils here. The BFI sells a special edition DVD on their website and several streaming platforms offer it to stream intermittently, like the Criterion Channel and Shudder, but America has yet to see an official DVD or Blu-ray release of Ken Russell’s controversial tale of religious hysteria and hypocrisy.
Leather Boys, 1964, Sidney J. Furie
I saw Leather Boys at Cinefamily (before I found out it was a haven for abusers), followed by a Q&A with the director, who blessed our ears with wisdom like, “The sun is the enemy of art,” when encouraging aspiring filmmakers to shoot in cloudy locations. Leather Boys grapples with marriage and sexual identity issues in a gentle way while also making room for the audience to laugh at the naivety and passion of adolescence. I returned home that night eager to share the film with others. Unfortunately, I was not able to find it available anywhere on physical media. I’m not above watching a movie free online when I have no other options, but I’m both a movie lover and collector and can’t stand that I can’t add Leather Boys to my collection, to rewatch at my leisure and share with my friends and family. Luckily, someone uploaded it to YouTube and you can watch the whole film here:

Khali Cartel 3 lyrics - Khaligraph Jones
Okay We good? We ready? We can start? Thank you so much...
First I'd like to thank everybody For showing up for this session Your honor, these are the rappers The masses been requestin' Ladies and gentlemen, it's so important that you follow I'm your attorney but just address me as Mr. Omollo
And now your Honor We're gon' get straight to the case And we'll address these people Who will insult you straight to your face When these people working hard They busy taking the cake Had the masses saying Artists ain't got no paper to chase
And what a shame When they constantly building their brands And all the dope music that they be giving their fans They got some shit to say So kindly let's give them a chance First rapper, kindly make your way up to the stand
What's your name? What you do?
KHALI CARTEL 3 Lyrics - Bey T
Bey T, I'm the truth And do you swear to speak the truth? I just said I am the truth Everything I ever wanted when I'm spitting in a booth I guess that's 'cause it's just in me When I flow I see the proof Brody told me greenlight
Now it's go I can't stop I be praying on a daily Getting closer to the top They appearing to be real Kinda something like a prop Hating when I'm doing better Kinda something like a opp
Got the city on my shoulders And the love now I receive But my socials aren't up So see the media they deceive And we got our local talent But that's not what they pursue 'Cause there really is no limit Told my people to believe
Music seemed like real shit We just tryna make it out Even started up a movement And they tried to make it clout Called the puppet out on site She know what I'm talking 'bout But the truth will always shine And in God I never doubt
Hard work beats talent But with me, it's double trouble And I got alot to say And they can't stop it with a muzzle Watch when people hear my music And they dig it like a shovel Mama said just let it be And put the focus on the hustle
Man I'm rising from the dirt Ten toes on the ground Real music knows no language I'ma do it with my sound 254, to the world, when I look who I'm around I've been queening in my city It's ' bout time I take the crown, uh
Look back at how far I've come and it's amazing Loving through the process In the race but I'm not racing Man I am the wave 'Cause when they see me they are waving They want to me blow but wanna stay so I be spacing I don't have the answers Know who does so I be praying
Made it through the rough And now I'm shining when it's raining This is just the warmup But we winning through our training Bey T got the fire 'bout to blow up Super Saiyan
Rising with the sun, you gon' see me at your window Naenda juu hoe, if you ain't getting on my lingo Getting to the chips I'm not talking bout a Pringle Kenya dropped some heat, I ain't talking about a single
Khali Cartel 3 Khaligraph Jones
Thank you so much for that I'm just hoping they got the info Bey T girl, you're the future Why they act like they ain't know But these greedy ma'fuckers Tryna take what you came for Your Honor, tell me if you ain't feeling what she sayin', oh
Aye, when will you people ever see the truth? The evidence is overwhelming yet you need the proof Leo me ndio lawyer so mtaniskiza tu Nimechoka hata na ngoso so kindly bring Breeder through
KHALI CARTEL 3 Lyrics - Breeder
First off niko njaa ningekuwa refa si ningemeza whistle Jiulize utanitambua lini, au unangoja yangu kifo? Nilizaliwa nikiwa Pro mi ni mnoma by default Na na desire kuwa legend ni go down ka icon Niko kwa track na Khali, buda hii ni nini Ka si dream come true
Si walijifanya hawanioni design ya peekaboo After this, ni Omollo one halafu Breeder two Na ni Cobra so ukipop itabidi umevunjika guu Utasemaje sina bidii na me hushinda stu' Cooking up, soon as the beat starts speakers boom Ni mi na mic solo kwa booth, you snooze you lose Rap kwangu ni ka Ruto na twenty, twenty-two
Halafu after hell si ni heaven, paradise ndio inaningoja But, pressure ya kuomoka ndio imenikalia ka sofa Industry, ngori yaani ku manoeuvre si ni struggle Interviews, me siko booked, kama laibu haina vitabu Lakini story ni ile ile huwezi winda, subiri mzoga So nikajitupa kwa uwanjo na nawatesa bila kocha Si ni TK, ndo kikosi yangu na ni wicked Na play role mbili bado attacker halafu defense
Mi huwapea maneno za busara Tangu ni christen bado na glisten Nabii hawezi pendwa mahali anatoka na hiyo ni mistake Si walifunga milango so tuna knock doors off their hinges Na nina ugonjwa haina tiba na hiyo ugonjwa inaitwa realness
Waambie wapunguze tamaa watuachie pia si tudishi Na mafan asanta sana bila nyinyi hatunge do this Nahapa ya kwamba siachi, TK soldier till the finish Nishaikamilisha, Ten Over Ten kama Willis
Khali Cartel 3 Khaligraph Jones
Hahaha, Ten Over Ten Big shout out to Ten Over Ten Big shout out to Willis Raburu Kushow support, again and again Yo Breeder, you did it my friend And they be feeling you man And if we had more time Then I'd done let you kill it again

Khali Cartel 3 Khaligraph Jones
You rep the block? Baby girl you taking shots! Assuming you serious you gon' have to face the cops Your rage is off the cage not afraid to pop But wait You don't gotta do that you was raised to rock
