Examples of Knuckles sensing all forms of Chaos Energy (and other things?) so I can aggressively point here whenever people forget about it
I see this part of Knuckles' abilities forgotten way too often and it drives me insane so here
1: HE CAN SENSE THE MASTER EMERALD.
Tumblr media
Very blatant. His entire gameplay in SA1 and SA2 revolves around this ability. He innately has the ability to sense the Master Emerald and its shards. Rouge meanwhile is given an Emerald Detector in SA2 to explain her gameplay.
2: HE CAN SENSE CHAOS CONTROLS.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He senses "some strange energy" right before Sonic Chaos Controls right in front of him. Essentially predicting a Chaos Control. IDK how else you could read this lmao he literally sensed a Chaos Control. (I swear I never see anyone talk about this ever grrr)
3: HE CAN SENSE SOL EMERALDS AND CHAOS EMERALDS.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This interaction in Sonic Rush confirms that he can sense both Sol Emeralds and Chaos Emeralds. For him to be able to mistake Sol Emeralds for Chaos Emeralds without seeing them, he has to be using some sixth sense, and has to be familiar with sensing Chaos Emeralds as well.
4: HE CAN SENSE FAKE/ARTIFICIAL EMERALDS.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(This is from a Sonic Station Live segment, unofficial translation found here.)
Knuckles goes looking for a mysterious Emerald presence, and finds Tails' fake Emerald. Pretty straightforward. Also, evidence of the Master Emerald itself being sentient and able to direct Knuckles to investigate anomalies. (I wish more people made use of that, too.)
5: HE... HAS A LITERAL TREASURE SENSE, APPARENTLY?
Tumblr media
(This is from a story on the Sonic Channel website. Original found here, unofficial translation from Windii Gitlord's blog found here.)
This is... a strange one. A bit of an outlier. I assumed that instances of Knuckles sensing treasures were purely gameplay mechanics, but here he appears to literally sense a pair of combat gloves, which is completely unrelated to Chaos Energy. So I guess he can do that too? But maybe it's only because he was led there by the ghosts of his ancestors? Who knows.
Oh yeah. BTW, Knuckles gets sent dreams by his ancestors' ghosts. That is canon. Someone pls use that in some way lol
So anyway. There. A bunch of examples of Knuckles sensing all forms of Chaos Energy, not just the Master Emerald. Throw this at someone if they question the extent of this ability and want evidence lol

i can kinda see solomon wanting to keep his relationship with you a secret for a bit. not for any serious reason, but because the look on everyone's faces when he casually says he's been dating you for months without anyone's knowledge would be priceless

The sentient rocks' opinions of their Guardians:
Sol Emeralds: This is Blaze! She is descended from many of our previous Guardians, and has a firm grasp on duty. We love her.
Chaos Emeralds: This is Sonic! We found him on the side of a road eating a chili dog and yelling at this egg creature. We love him.
Master Emerald: This is Knuckles, who honestly deserves better than the life his ancestors gave him. I consider him my son in many ways. I love him.
Time Stones: This is Silver. We saw him throw a car at a god once. We love him.

This just in: In a win for lgbtq wrongs, local lesbian with blue hair and pronouns has massacred an entire village of Kitsune. When pressed for comment, her mother, who was watching the whole time, said, "This is war. Sacrifices are nessasary in order to achieve victory."

so solomon is called "shishou" (師匠) in japanese when being referred to as your teacher/master (makes sense, sensei would seem a little informal)... how do you think he'd react to being called "shou-sama"?

idk how we do writing requests but if you like it, you could experiment with the idea of sonic using the sol emeralds to go super and the kind of effect it would have on him (alternatively, blaze using the chaos emeralds for the same reason and how that would affect her and/or her fire powers)
if you don't actually like this idea, feel free to ignore this ask :)) if you do like it, hope you have fun while writing!!
i might go back and add a bit more to this but i hope you like it <3
It’s an accident, of course.
Eggman Nega and Eggman have decided to once again join forces, for reasons Solaris only knows why. The two can’t stand each other, after having worked together in the past and failing spectacularly. And then again. And then again. They blamed their failures on each other, but every once in a while, they would meet each other in the channels of the time stream, and decide to pull a few tricks together, momentarily forgetting their past disputes (though never forgiving).
This time, they switched Sonic and Blaze from their home dimension. Blaze was in her castle one moment, then Sonic’s world the next, having been resting on the branch of a tall tree. Sonic must have appeared in her home, surrounded by the finest marine guard captains, and Marine must have had a fright, talking to Blaze one moment only to find Sonic sitting in her chair the next.
She’s not sure what the Eggmen hoped to gain from this. Perhaps, if they switched worlds, and fought the “wrong” Eggman, then they would be too off kilter to do anything. As if Sonic isn't the most adaptable person Blaze knows, as if Sonic isn’t wild like electricity and free flowing like water.
And Blaze is a strong contender herself, who’s spent ample amounts of time in the Chaos dimension already. It was a bit strange, traveling Sonic’s world, which sometimes felt like an inverse to her own. Roads and beaten paths she had taken in her world lead to whole new areas for her to explore. It felt like she had walked through a mirror, through an hourglass, everything flipped and warped, yet still recognizable.
Tails had offered his help immediately, when she finally managed to locate his workshop. The two of them had begun to gather the Chaos emeralds, which in itself had been a fascinating experience. She’s never touched one before, and finds them filled to the brim with crackling electricity. It’s a different feeling than the gentle warmth of the Sol emeralds- these emeralds burn, they fry, they buzz with untamed and wild energy.
It was admittedly a bit daunting, carting the emeralds around, feeling the strange energy raise the tips of her fur, feeling a sensation rivaled only by the Sol emeralds themselves. Once more, a strange and warped version of her familiarity, a bizarre hourglass version of something she once considered part of her nature.
Sonic and her haven’t quite found each other yet, by the time Blaze has found the last emerald. Eggman’s Death Egg floats menacingly in the sky, and Blaze sucks up all the resolve she can muster to step on to Tails’s Tornado, the two of them taking to the sky to finally confront the madman.
They travel through the depths of the space station, smashing robots left and right. Eggman mocks them from screens throughout the Death Egg, grinning and laughing madly as they edge ever closer to the very heart of the station. Finally, Blaze and Tails push their way to the center, and Eggman plays his cards, lulling them into a trap, and snatching all of the Chaos emeralds to load into his newest scheme.
The Chaos emeralds warp them back into the inbetween space of the Sol and Chaos dimension. Blaze watches as the world becomes a haze of purples and yellows, dancing across the sky like the aurora borealis. It’s a beauty that reminds her of the first time she met Sonic, of their first battle together, and resolve once more washes over her.
Eggman and her battle, a gigantic dragon type monster Eggman reveals as half of the machine he and Eggman Nega built. “We’re going to rewrite these dimensions to our own liking! The world will finally be mine, and no one will know any better!”
Blaze battles against the dragon, the Egg Yang, and Tails offers support. They’re proving to be no match, however, when the beast is loaded with all seven emeralds, and Blaze and Tails hit the ground, hard, after a few two many swats.
Electricity crackles, and Blaze’s hair raises. The Chaos emeralds glow, brighter than she's ever seen them, and she feels something like a rush of water pour over her body. The call of the emeralds, she discerns, and it feels so alien to the gentle whisper of the Sol emeralds, who offer the hearth of a cozy cottage instead of a storming hurricane.
Still, it’s their only chance. If the emeralds are willing to play along, then Blaze is more than willing to answer their call.
“Launch me, Tails, right towards the center of the head!”
Tails shakes out the tension in his arms and starts to spin his tails. He grabs Blaze’s hands and begins to fly up. The two of them are far enough away that they manage to build up enough momentum for Tails to throw her, and she spins, a vortex of fire, smacking directly into the dragon’s head, bullseye.
The emeralds glow brighter from within Eggman’s compartment. She remains still on the cool glass, knees bent, hands digging into the glass to stay latched on, and Eggman laughs, until the emeralds begin to crackle, and he spins in time to watch them burst from his machine, right towards Blaze.
The power of the emeralds encircles her, spinning violently as she lets the energy wash over her. A thunderstorm at her fingertips, lighting crackling as energy crescendos, as rain becomes like the flood that buried the Babylons in her world. It’s a hurricane of motion, she finds, violent waters churning and spewing, danger. And at the very center is herself.
The emeralds lodge right into her chest. There’s no claiming, soothe speak of the emeralds during the transformation. Instead, she feels almost fired up, feels an energy unlike anything else. She could take on thousands of battleships, could smash the moon with the palm of her hands, could outshine any star. It’s invigorating, and slightly terrifying.
The emeralds encourage her, boost her confidence. Her heart pounds in her chest, electricity beneath her veins, a tidal wave sweeping through her ribcage. The warm, yet gentle whispers of the Sol emeralds are no more. The Sol emeralds encouraged her to remain wise, careful, cautious. They encouraged her to be smart, to observe before striking, to follow her head, not her heart.
The Chaos energy beneath her veins does not whisper, but screams. It begs to be heard, driving all logic away, screaming to follow her very instincts. To follow her heart.
The transformation burns, in the same way a phoenix rises from the ashes, and Blaze is now floating in the air, hovering before Eggman’s dragon. The thrum of Chaos is fascinating, and Blaze silently thanks the Chaos Force for giving her a boost.
Eggman’s eyes are wide at the sight, before they narrow, and he shoves a lever forward. “No matter! I have enough energy saved from those gems to grant me my wish! Nega should be joining me soon, with your very own gem collection!”
The dragon bursts from the Death Egg, smashing through the roof to finally enter the space in between. Blaze races after him, Tails cheering her on as he moves towards the control station, and Blaze doesn’t spare him a second glance, knowing he’s already forming a plan.
She sails through the air like a shooting star, smashing into Eggman’s core a couple of times before Eggman knocks her away. She goes sailing through the air, until she smacks into something solid, something burning, something familiar.
Blaze detangles herself from the object and finds a scorching hedgehog floating right before her eyes. It’s not so different from his usual super form, though the tips of his quills melt from molten gold into blazing fires and the cuffs of his shoes and gloves have turned a fiery shade of orange. Blaze almost gives into the temptation to give herself a once over, but Sonic’s gentle smile keeps her from looking away.
“You look brilliant,” Sonic says, then snaps his fingers. “Aha! Brilliant Blaze! I like it. Man, and I can’t figure one out for myself.”
Blaze knows there’s a fight to be won, knows the dimensions are at stake, knows that the fate of reality depends on them, and yet, she takes the time to peer at him, and taps a finger to her chin. He’s brilliant, like the sun, warmth radiating like a summer day, but right on the verge of being scorching. “Scorching Sonic, perhaps?”
Sonic pumps a fist. “Nailed it in one! Now, I think we’ve got some eggs to fry, huh? Unless you wanna trade jewelry real quick?”
“Can’t handle the heat?”
“Ha! I jump into volcanoes for fun, this is nothing!” Sonic leers, a grin stretching his face. “Can’t handle the Chaos?”
“Hello!” Someone shouts, and Blaze and Sonic turn to find two dragons floating not far from them. Eggman Nega looks amused while Eggman appears annoyed at being ignored for so long. “Thank you. Can’t someone take this seriously? We’re about to rewrite reality!”
“It’s hard to take jesters seriously,” Blaze states, shoulders tense as Sonic and her float nearer, fists clenched, ready for the brawl.
“Come on, Eggheads! You know we can crack jokes and eggs at the same time. Now let’s go poach those eggs!”
Blaze and Sonic move in a dazzling swirl of electricity and fire. The energy feeds off each other, Chaos being drawn towards Sonic while Sol flutters to Blaze, a familiar hand resting on her shoulder as the two of them work in sync. It’s not their hardest battle, and within a few minutes, the two Eggman’s are sent flying through space, cursing their names across the stars.
Sonic and Blaze make their way back to the Death Egg, Tails grinning ear to ear when they land. Marine’s docked their ship on the abandoned space station, and had an identical smile on her face, eyes brighter than the Solaris Festival.
“That was amazing!” Marine cheers, pumping a fist. “Those drongos had a buckley’s chance of defeating you!
Sonic’s fangs flash as he gives Blaze a side eye. “Wanna put on one more light show before we head home? Destroying the Death Egg is basically a part of the ceremony.”
“What are you waiting for?”
“We’ll meet up with you!” Sonic presses his knuckles into Tails’s head. “Now jet, kid, so me and Blaze can really let loose some fireworks!”
“Alrighty! Let’s go, Marine!”
“Make it a big one for me!”
The ship, along with the Tornado, start to jet. Blaze and Sonic share a grin, before disappearing in a blaze of light. They smash through the walls of the Death Egg like poking a sharp pen through paper, and not before long, the entire station explodes.
Sonic and Blaze go sailing through the air, the explosion propelling them forward. Sonic reaches out, and Blaze meets him halfway, hands grasping each other as the emeralds finally abandon their hosts, emeralds shooting out from their bodies, before circling their correct wielder.
They sail through the air for a moment longer until they finally part ways, hands lingering until they’re both pulled apart by the magnetism of their world. Blaze lands at the top of Marine’s best ship, and watches as Sonic gracefully lands on the wing of the Tornado. A bright light begins to settle across the entire pocket dimension, and Sonic and Blaze meet eyes for the last time until the world fades and Blaze finds herself back home, the illustrious islands she ruled over glimmering like stars as the ship began to land.
What an interesting adventure, against the wrong Eggman, with the wrong emeralds. Blaze hopes they never have to do that again… she understands, however, why the emeralds seem to have chosen a person like Sonic to take them, someone as attuned to their own heart and instincts as the emeralds themselves, wild and chaotic by nature.
Blaze likes order, mundanity, and predictability. She likes stability.
She clutches the emeralds tighter to her chest, thankful she was chosen to guard these emeralds. The emeralds emit a gentle warmth, like the caress of a sunbeam, and Blaze knows they feel the same.
