yourusername: "Figures and Strangers" has officially ended production. I would like to thank everyone who I've worked with on this project; you have made every moment of this past year special, and I will remember our time together for the rest of my life.

"Figures and Strangers" is about family, love, and perseverance in the midst of hard times. While I may not have had hard times, the other themes of this movie pertained to my life when I auditioned:

Without my family's unwavering support and direction, I would not be where I am today; seriously, without my father, I wouldn't have been tipped off about Spielberg shooting his first film in Paris, and I would not be typing this today.

A year ago, I had gone on one date with the man I now call my love. Since that day, he has been with me through thick and thin: from nights spent crying over hard-to-memorize lines, to entire weeks when I was hardly home. He saw me through my highs in lows, through enjoying life then doubting every choice I've ever made. Honestly, I believe he's more love and understanding than man. I would have never known the man my father introduced me to would be such a blessing, but I am so glad to call him mine.

And, finally, perseverance: when I heard about this movie, I was still struggling with the notion that all I would ever be was my dad's child. I love my dad with all my heart and all my soul, but seeing myself called "Lionel Messi's daughter" instead of "Y/N Messi" in headlines about my own accomplishments damaged my self-esteem (not to mention all the "nepo baby" comments--yes, I read all of those). Yet, all of this motivated me to work even harder and persevere, as my character in "Figures and Strangers" does. I am glad to say that I am happy with where I stand right now, and I have made myself proud.

Anyways, to wrap this up, I'll quote the ever so wise Winnie the Pooh by saying how lucky I am having something that makes saying goodbye so hard. I am eternally grateful for everything that has happened in the past year because of "Figures and Strangers," and how it has transformed me as a person.

Thank you all again, and I'll see you in the movies.

Last year for Halloween I dressed up as a Shadowhunter, but I was upset because no one recognized my costume. So I thought about Spencer Reid overhearing Reader explaining their costume to the others and noticing how she's a bit upset about that. So he makes as much research as he can before he goes to Reader to talk about their costume and how perfect it is for Halloween, even if at first not everyone would notice that

You know, it was a big mistake to come to the Bau's Halloween party dressed like that, the minute you step a foot into the room.

You greet almost everybody you know there and their confused faces tell you everything you need to know.

You look stupid.

You didn't realise, when you were picking out your costume, that it's not very popular, like at all. None of your colleagues recognise it, not even when you try to explain it.

Honestly, it breaks your heart a bit. Because you've spent quite some time finding things for it and then making it. So yeah, it hurts, that nobody has a clue what you're dressed as.

And the disappointment definitely shows on you. The initial radiating smile is reduced to a small, forced smile just for the sake of being 'happy' at a party.

And Spencer, one of your better friends from work, notices your mood change. The sad scowl would be kind of hard to miss.

He doesn't like seeing you upset like that and also he thinks you look really great in the costume. So he tries to inconspicuously listen to your conversation with someone to find out what your costume is.

He eventually hears you explain it and when he does, he takes his phone out of his pocket and types in the name.

He reads as much as he can find and as quickly as he can, the reading part is obviously no problem for him. It takes him only 10 minutes to learn everything he needs to talk to you about your costume.

He walks over to you, " hi, I love your costume. You look incredible. How did you manage to make it so identical?"

Your eyes go a little wider at his words at first, but then your whole face lights up.

"Y-you...you recognise it?" you ask sheepishly. You would never thing, not even in your wildest dreams, that Spencer could know what you were dressed as.

"Of course, of course I know. How could I not? You are obviously...." he says the name of your character and impossibly, your smile grows even bigger.

"I-I love your costume, too. You look awesome," he's dressed as a well-known scientist and he rocks it. No everybody could pull the white, messy hair, but he manages it perfectly.

His cheeks go a bit pink at your compliment," Thank you, Penelope helped me choose it, because I couldn't decide, which scientist should I go as from all of the greatest thinkers of the world."

"Well, she choose well," you smile at him, truly smile at him. It feels like it's your first true smile at this party.

Spencer smiles back at you and opens his mouth to say something, but hesitates.

"Yes?" You encourage him with a soft smile.

"Do you want to go get a drink with me?" he gestures at the bar behind him, eyes hopeful. He's been trying to get the courage to ask you out for a drink and this seems like a perfect opportunity.

"Dr. Reid are you trying to get me drunk?" you tease him cheekily.

His eyes go very wide," of course not, I would never. I just...-" he starts, freaked out. But when he sees you smile, he relaxes," oh, you were kidding."

"Yes, Spencer. I'm sorry," you bite your lip to stop yourself from laughing," I'd love to get a drink with you, though."

"Really?" Spencer asks.

"Yeah, c'mon," you take his hand in yours and start dragging him towards the bar, already asking him questions about how he knows the TV series/ film your costume is from.

Also that moment with choosing side...was interesting. I love how Sol so protective of own people and how he wanted to be powerful, now everything makes sense. But a little sad, that it doesn't seem that MC with him on this. Because they spoke about not making promises there twice with Thirteen. and if that's the case that means they knowingly made a binding promise meaning if it comes down to it if there's a war they'll never be on humanity's side) God, Solomon must be devastated

Also the fact that Nightbringer was right about what MC will choose!?

Satan might actually just not pick a side? Like he wouldn't be bothered to go out of his way to help MC the way the other three did, but at the same time if it meant going against Lucifer......

Beel, I'm not sure. Because as of rn MC hasn't had a big bonding moment with Beel and it's just been 1yr since they lost Lilith. He may not hate humans the way Belphie does but I feel like he'll take Belphie's side, the same way he did in that Devilgram where Belphie protested the exchange program

Lucifer was definitely hurt and scared and covering it up with anger

And yeah I get the same feeling that general MC doesn't really have anything in the human world. It's kinda been hinted at in the previous seasons as well and nightbringer might as well have confirmed it during the last lesson

Yk as someone who did not watch lps popular as a kid (because english is not my first language and at the time i couldn't understand it yet) its so interesting to see how popular (wink) it is??? Its like a whole new world for me

Its also weird because i have the brooke lps too and she was one of my first ever lps so shes a completely character for me, And also thats what i enjoy the most about lps, since they arent actually characters with defined personalities you can project them to become whoever you want 🥺

i think lps popular just existing is crazy. the fact that someone was able to create a teen drama show on youtube using little toys made for children is nuts.

i was there when episodes were still being put out. the first episode i remember being released during my viewing time was the one where savannah and sage were in this wooded area and they were being watched fbjkngfnb

the bump in production quality was awesome to see as well. the change between episodes 3 and 4(?) was pretty drastic. it's understandable why episodes took as long as they did ... lps popular was just that, a teen drama show that took tons of effort to write scripts, create sets, and a bunch of other stuff for. i'm unsure if sophie had any assistance when filming episodes or if it was all just her, if it was all a solo thing then that is extremely impressive !!

the main cast don't feel like regular old lps to me, they feel like little celebrities ... i have a brooke myself and i dressed her up in a little poofy dress and sparkly bow because i feel like it makes her look expensive kbngdkbndgiobnb

BRO YOUR BRAIN POWER, Everything would only be more heartbreaking (how did you even do that) if reader was the extant child/relative of one the yans, my brain explored the idea with the professor or magneto, someone who wouldn't have suspected reader was their child, what would be worse for reader is if nobody knew and it was found out AFTER they're back. I'm evil :)

I could Imagine the reader, being the sweet selfless thing that they are, and being the only one who can't use their powers to escape like the others can, they might resort to begging the three to run and leave them behind, it's the very last thing any of them want, OH MAN it'd tear them up inside, but especially if reader were the oldest, the kids could be swayed to listen, even if they really really don't want to.

And yes, it would involve more angst if they found out Reader was their child after they're back, but I raise you this: What happens if they found out when Reader and the others initially died? (Isn't that a fine wine of angst?) They never suspected and never knew Reader was a relative of theirs, and the pain and guilt over only ever knowing after Reader had already died. It would be worse if, when sorting through some of Reader's stuff after that dark day, they find a few papers in their handwriting, mentioning they know that one of their mentors or guardians is actually their parent/sibling/relative, but that they aren't going to tell them, because they don't want to ruin their relationship... Or if Reader had a DNA test or birth certificate or something else, detailing the fact they're related... The absolute misery the adult/s would be in, knowing they would never be able to right it, that they'd never be able to let Reader know they would have accepted them, no matter what... It breaks them all over again...

If Reader begged the others to go, to leave them, the three would be torn. If Reader is younger than them, they are staying no matter what. Only being forced to leave them would keep them from being by their side, sticking together til the end. If Reader is older, they would reluctantly leave, but only after Reader forces them into a position where that's the choice they're left with. And the three would be doing everything they can to get back to them, to try and rescue them from the strangers wearing the faces and powers of their teams, the people they call family...

I think I've finally decided on how old Reader is, and I say they are the youngest. Not by a lot, granted, but that doesn't stop them from being seen as someone to protect, no matter how powerful or awesome their powers are. They could be able to turn into a beast-like creature, or transform into any animal they want, or have fangs and claws, and they'd still be getting defended. It doesn't mean Reader themself isn't protective. Reader has lashed out before, during the few weeks they'd all been held captive, all to protect their captured friends or to defend the other platonic yans... Reader did suffer for it, though, terribly... It's why their death was a little different than the others. Where the others deaths were rather quick, Reader's was dragged out, made as painful for as long as it took to pass on...

It's really no wonder the adult and older teen platonic yans snapped and took their time destroying the people who'd done it. Who didn't even give them a chance to reach them before it was too late. And what a bloody, long drawn-out mess it is... And when it's finally done, well... There's a new world order on the verge of forming, and when it is brought to fruition... a lot of their enemies realize what a dangerous mistake they made...

As expected, she has friends everywhere. She is from the US, so you could mention any state and she'd prolly know someone living there.

She was always the teacher's favourite, not because she's particularly studious or anything, but 'cause she's just so nice. Like, she'll raise her hand in class when no one is answering just 'cause she feels bad; she'll talk to and befriend the new students so they feel welcomed, etc etc.

She and a few friends jam together a few times a month, but she would like to join a real band in the future.

She is allergic to both cats and dogs, but that has never stopped her from wanting one. (aw)

Harley has dyslexia.

Will she write songs about MC? It's not an if, but a when. ;)

She sings and plays guitar, bass and a little bit of piano (enough to use MIDI keyboards). She's written several songs she's produced 100% by herself, Tyler the Creator style.

Harley has a little brother who's 10 and he's her best friend and favourite person in the whole world.

She volunteers every week at a women's shelter.

She mostly uses her powers for music experimenting purposes, such as 'infusing' her music so that the listeners feel calmer, for example.

Literally, Donnie is a precious mix of doggy and toddler. He will get into absolutely everything, he will jump at any chance to play&learn, his only concept of right and wrong is the one someone else gives him, and he will love you till the day he dies. Poor boi has been touch starved from the movement he got into metal Kraang hands and loves any kind of platonic affection that the brothers will give him.

He can’t understand that what happened to him by the Kraang was wrong because they do it to everyone. He never learned to fight back because there was never a point. Everything about how the brothers treat him is opposite to what he knows, and he craves it.

SPOILER ALERT for the third chapter AND hints about chapter four:

In that alleyway where Casey finds him, he’s terrified because he knows exactly what he’s going back to if the Kraang take him. Donnie might never get away from them and experience the safety that the brothers bring again. And yet, they’re his masters, so he can’t fight them, not when they have every right to have him.

But, Casey gives him an opening, so he takes it.

He shouldn’t. He knows he shouldn’t, but he can’t go back.

As for the youngest position- I have a scene in mind for when Mikey abruptly realizes that his joke about Donnie being the “youngest” brother has actually solidified into reality and now someone’s about to die if his baby brother isn’t returned safe and HOLD ON A MINUTE is THIS what being an older brother feels like?!?

But in a sequence of Neko’s unique emotional writing :)

And ABSOLUTELY he’s perfect for the position (but that might just be creator bias). He embodies the definition of innocence baby boi and lives a life of blissful ignorance.

Unfortunately, the votes seem to be leaning towards Mikey staying the youngest so I guess we’ll have to see where the story goes ;)

Okay, that was definitely an overstatement because Sparrow would turn you into minced meat if you ever touched her child, and Neon and King would probably turn you away until the day that you die, which would be coming soon if you didn't-

Fuck, I'm spiraling, I need to take a breather.

"Are you doing okay?" Moonsua asks with a soft smile on her face.

She was always the caring type, which made sense given that Moonsua and Katie were friends.

Right now I wouldn't call Katie very caring because she left me up here alone-

"I've … been better." You admit before sighing and looking out of the pod.

"Do you not like heights?"

"Yeah, something like that." You mutter as the ferris wheel stops moving when you reach the top.

Moonsua observes you for a moment before staring out at the view as well.

"Katie's cute, you know, for trying to set us up like this." She softly says as you gasp.

"You knew?"

"You didn't?" She says before laughing. "Ah, she can be tricky at times, but not all of her schemes are fool-proof."

"Yeah… she's something, alright." You nervously rub the back of your neck as you watch the people below you pass the ferris wheel with not a care in the world.

What I would give to be one of them…

"So… do you want to hang out after this? Just the two of us, perhaps?"

Her words shock you as you turn to face her.

"Wait, you're actually into me?? I thought Katie was joking with me when she said you had a crush on me!"

"Of course I am. What's not to like about you?" She looks you up and down before turning back to look at the skyline. "Don't feel pressured. If you want to do something another time, I'm down."

"I'd like to hang out with you… as just the two of us." You repeat before the pod jerks slightly before beginning to move towards the ground.

"Sounds like a great plan." Moonsua gives you a bright smile, and your heart continues to beat faster as you share a smile with her.

The two of you sit in silence as the pod slowly comes to a stop at the ground. You're very glad that your legs don't shake when you stand up, and that the nausea in your stomach stays where it is.

Being on a ferris wheel and sharing a beautiful view with a girl that I like wasn't such a bad outcome after all…

As soon as you exit the ride, Moonsua takes your hand.

"Are you ready to go? There's a lot more of the fair that we have yet to explore."

You look at the ferris wheel for another moment before turning your attention to the girl in front of you.

"Let's go."

"Let's go!" She cheers before dragging you through the fairgrounds for a night full of fun and laughter.

I'm coming in with one of my irrelevant and possibly annoying rants™ that I haven't done in a while.

But the part in cmi blooming where Jungkook was talking about how OC isn't even meeting his standards, she's actually building them made me think of my crush and :((

I'm usually so so wary when I talk to guys because in my experience, sooner or later, they always say something that makes me feel weird or uncomfortable, like they start being misogynistic or homophobic, or they start treating me weird. And don't get me started on the toxic masculinity!!!

So when I started talking more to my crush and realising I like him, I thought that the more I got to know him, I would find out something about him that would put me off, like it usually happens. But this man is literally too perfect????

He is so intentional with all of his political and moral views, with the activism he's doing, with the way he's intentionally defying gender norms. If someone says something weird, like sexist or any other kind, he'll be the first to call the person out on it. None of it feels performative either, just really intentional because he realises his privilege and uses it for good. And he's so kind and caring too, listens so well and remembers things about his friend's interests. Like his whole films watchlist is full of his friend's favourite movies and he must have a friend who's an army too because every time we come to that topic he knows so much 🥺🥺 I was nervous about giving him my discord because it's got a jungkook profile pic and everything but he just started asking like isn't he in the military now etc. Literally the biggest green flag of a person.

He's the one currently setting the standard for me! And the problem is that I really don't think he likes me back and now I don't know who else will meet all these standards lmaoo. But when I'm not feeling pessimistic and I look at it from the bright side, he has genuinely restored a little bit of my faith in men (just like bts actually) Because if he exists then surely there are others like him, right 😔

Anyway, this is a bit of an aimless rant, just had to get that off my chest. But of course, cmi Jungkook is the ultimate standard and nobody can surpass him!!

1. haikyuu!! probably my favorite show ever tbh. i think hq has a perfect story, like it uses its genre to do everything right, and its impact on the outside world is amazing as well. as for the series itself, it's just beautiful (ignoring that one episode in season 4) and has a very unique style, stellar voice acting, awesome soundtrack, delicious symbolism, and it really gets you hyped for volleyball :P it's very easy to get attached even to the most minor character bc the story is written in a way that lets almost everyone in this HUGE cast (well over a 100 or even 150 named characters, i'm pretty sure) shine, and you're guaranteed to find someone you like. the only downside is you'll probably end up rooting for every team so eventually a team you like will lose a game (likely to another team you like) and that hurts every time fr. and still!!!!! it manages to be so feel-good and optimistic and really gets you pumped and inspired!!!! i think anyone who is even just open to try sports anime should check it out, it's def one of the most accessible I've seen in that genre (in a sense that it doesn't expect you to already be familiar with the sport to understand the story)

2. honestly?? osomatsu-san. probably bc it's very dear to me like emotionally, season 2 was still releasing when i was stuck in the hospital for a few months, and it was like a light i held onto every week (i was also following a few mangas back then but those were harder to follow. due to oso-san's skit nature it was always a good time) and i mean, ichi was my first f/o before i even knew that term existed hehe. it's one of these shows i wouldn't actually recommend to anyone unless i know they're ok with gross or edgy humor but i do think it's really good, i love how meta it is, and i think it uses its premise to deliver maximum entertainment!

(oh my god that was so much gushing abt a silly skit show i am so sorry <- guy who wrote most of the hq gushing after typing this part up. he was not aware)

3. ok so this one's really niche, idk if any of you have even heard of it heh. it's called bungou stray dogs-

ajdkflhlh while i have my gripes with how they adapt the manga, i do still think it's a very good anime as is. it was good enough to get me hooked on the story and characters and want to learn more and follow the story further, yknow? it's beautiful and i love its use of colors for symbolism, it has really great voice acting, and the energy is kept up throughout it enough to remain engaging. it's honestly a show I'd recommend everyone to at least try 🤔!

4. persona 4!!!! from one mediocre adaptation to a GREAT adaptation. i think p4's anime is really really well made - it manages to translate a game this long into a coherent and interesting story, gives its characters time to shine, and maintains a perfect balance between fun and emotions. also it has probably the best dub I've ever heard. naoto's anime voice dni. also i think episode 26 is a true masterpiece i think everyone should watch it

5. ngl. it's a three way tie for me. between shows i only watched once and don't have a lot of attachment to beyond that, but i think they're really good for very different reasons. gekkan shoujo nozaki-kun / great pretender / blue period. i won't go into details on why i love them all bc this post is already long enough. but if you're reading this you should check them out 🫡

Ok that episode went by way too quick, but I loved it! My thoughts are sporadic but stay with me lol:

LOVE the fact that we have two black girls as our leads for Frozen, and not to brag but I called it months ago.

Ricky getting Kristoff is slightly annoying because I'm sick of him always being the lead. I was hoping Jet would get it honestly.

EJ being the moose is lowkey funny though

EJ BRINGING GINA FLOWERS?!?! Ugh I love my ship. He's always just trying to make her smile.

You can see some jealous tension rising between Portwell and honestly I lowkey love it. All great couples are gonna have some conflict. Its all in how they work past it.

Poor EJ is so stressed. He just wanted to show his little family his favorite place in the world and have fun for the summer. And now he's stuck doing a whole production alone.

LOVING the Ricky & Jet bonding time. Jet warmed up real quick to Ricky, much like Gina did in s1. And we all know where that led Gina's feelings 😏

Also Jet's story about how is mom just assumed he has ADHD?!?! LIKE?? And the fact that he thinks he's always disappointing his parents is just so sad. He and EJ obvi need a sit down because if anyone can relate to absent but disappointed parents its that boy.

Ashlyn going through an identity crisis is not surprising. Going from being the lead when you weren't expecting to ever be one, to not even getting a main role has got to be extremely hard for someone who already is pretty insecure.

Poor Maddox 😫 she just wants friends and to be accepted. Idk how none of these girls like her yet.

EJ'S VOICE?!?! Not the type of song I imagined would be EJ's solo I was hoping for, but it definitely showcased his voice really freaking well. I'm obsessed. I hope we get at least one more solo.

The fact that EJ was the one that Ricky sought out first when he wanted to go look for the haunted woman in the woods 👀

Even when getting irritated at them for interrupting him, notice how EJ softens his tone when speaking to Gina versus Ricky and Ash? Thats a MAN.

I don't like Rina as a couple, but these Rina moments in the woods are cute I'll admit. I hope they stay just as friends and stay like this. And if EJ can get over his jealousy of them (tho I do believe its warranted) I think they'd make an awesome trio.

Ashlyn's song is BEAUTIFUL and I'm so happy that she's finally getting a solo spotlight moment with just her. I still to this day wish we'd get a version of "Wondering" with just her.

Ricky and Gina being the best friends Ash needs is just 🥺❤️

Also when Ashlyn gets over this little dislike she has for Maddox they're actually gonna be besties because they're so alike.

Jet and Maddox being siblings???? Lowkey here for it??? Also where are their parents cuz I just want to have a few words...

Ough I really really wanna know about the inaccuracies of dinosaurs in Jurassic World!!!!!!!! /gen

(I just saw your autcober day 2 post and I'm really curious now :D)

AAAA🥺💜💜💜💜 FIRST OF ALL THANK YOU I haven't gotten an ask before this is so cool!! I'd be happy to elaborate:

Basically, there was some amount of hype around the newest Jurassic World movie since it depicts feathers on certain theropods for the first time in the franchise. In the 5 minute prologue there's a couple dromaeosaurs (raptors) with feathers and the trex has some dino fuzz. Later on there's also a shaggy therinzinosaurus and the heavily advertized Pyroraptor. Which DOES sound awesome on paper til you take a closer look:

All the (bipedal) theropods carry over broken wrists from the previous movies. You know how the hands sort of curl down and face the ground? Due to their bone structure, dinosaurs actually couldn't pronate like this; their wrists were stuck in a "clapping" position (think of a bird's wing). I actually have a how to of this for my fursona!:

Because JW's dinosaurs have broken wrists they can't do the whole wing thing, and instead they kind of just plaster the feathers on the forearms (Pyroraptor) or don't add arm feathers at all (oviraptor).

The Pyroraptor is ALLL wrong lol. It's basically just the JP Velociraptors with red feathers hot glued on top. It's belly and legs are completely bare when there should be some sort of transitional feathers. It's also got a bare head, wheras many raptors had feathers that only stopped at their muzzle. And, again, this is basically the same velociraptor model, which in itself is too large, has too broad of a head etc. That said it looks like Pyroraptor sometimes has the correct wrist posture???

Most of the same issues with the therinzinosaurus

"Shrinkwrapping" for literally every dinosaur (please look it up it's so funny)

And it's like, okay yeah so what if they're not all accurate, it's just a movie right?? Until you realize that every other dinosaur media ever uses the JP franchise as their base (see trex and velociraptors post-1993). We've know about feathered dinosaurs for decades now, but JW's depictions look fresh out of a 1990s textbook. Not to mention that 2 months before this JW came out there was a documentary released (Prehistoric Planet) that had THE most accurate dinosaurs on film to date. But unless paleontology is on someone's radar they're not gonna seek out stuff like that. They're just gonna look at JW and go "oh hey dinosaurs with feathers, must be accurate."

Steve almost drops his keys, trying to open the front door while juggling a couple of bags of groceries. It’s a Thursday, late afternoon and he just dropped the twins off at Sam and Nat’s, picking up food on the way back, leaving the evening free for Bucky and his date night. Ever since Emma and Ben were old enough for them to feel comfortable leaving them alone with friends or a babysitter, they’ve made sure to have at least one evening for themselves on a semi-regular basis. They love their kids more than life itself, sure, but sometimes they need a night just for the two of them.

He finally manages to open the front door, calling out for a little help when stepping inside. While he’s toeing off his shoes, Bucky shows up in the hallway and takes two of the bags, pressing a quick kiss to his cheek in the process. “Everything go alright with drop-off?”, he asks over his shoulder, slowly making his way to the kitchen, Steve following right behind.

Steve sighs. “Yeah, if I didn’t know better, I’d think they were glad to see me leave so they could spend some quality time with their aunt and uncle. When did they get so big? I still remember Ben clinging to me, not wanting to be left with anyone else”. Bucky gives him a sympathetic smile. “Beats me. But you know it’s just because they rarely get to see Sam with all his Cap duties. Don’t worry, they still love you.” Steve wraps his arms around his husband’s waist, leaning his forehead against Bucky’s.

“You think?”, he asks, a little self-pityingly. “Yeah pal, I’m sure. What’s not to love?”. Steve smiles, feeling a little better. “Oh”, he starts, taking a step back, “have you heard from Nat? Lily was supposed to make her way over right after track practice, she should be there by now.” Bucky frowns at that. “No, she hasn’t texted me. But give it like half an hour, you know how she is, probably still hanging around there somewhere. I’m sure she’ll get over there soon enough.”

He can’t help but grumble a little. “Hanging out with Noah you mean.” Bucky chuckles at him. “Probably, but what did you expect? She’s 16, almost 17. We at least know where she is, do you think your mom knew what we were up to at that age? And Noah seems like a great kid.”

Steve knows he’s being a little unfair to the kid. He’s met him a couple of times now, since they started dating about 9 months ago, and he seemed polite, nice, like he thought the world of Lily and would treat her right. But you can’t blame him for not liking it. She’s their first child, his baby, and even if he’d never stop his children from dating anyone they liked, he just…worries. Bucky can probably see the wheels turning in his head. “Come on honey, stop worrying so much”, he says softly, grabbing one of Steve’s hands and running his thumb over Steve’s knuckles, “why don’t you go take a shower and get ready? We have about an hour until our reservation.”

He knows he’s being a little dramatic, and Bucky‘s not wrong. He really shouldn’t worry so much. He sighs, pulls Bucky in for a quick kiss. “Yeah, I know. You’re right.” He’s about to make his way upstairs and take a shower, but before he’s even out of the kitchen, the front door swings open. “Lily?”, he asks, but he gets no response, just hears the front door slam shut and feet stomping up the stairs.

Looking back at Bucky, he sees a concerned frown on his face, one that must match the one on his own. “I’ll go see what’s wrong?”, he offers, and Bucky nods. “Let me know if you need back-up, I’ll tell Nat that she’s with us.”

Steve goes upstairs, softly knocking on the door. “Lily, sweetheart, everything okay?” he asks, but he gets no response. When he’s about to knock again, he can hear that Lily’s crying, the sound tugging at his heart strings. “Sweetheart, please open the door”, he tries again, still getting nothing in return. He slumps down against the door, willing to wait a little. He hates to hear any of their children cry, but he also respects their privacy, so he’s not gonna go barging in there. He’s gonna wait a couple of minutes, see if she changes her mind. Even if it’s hard, and he’s worried.

“Okay. I’m here, I’ll be here. I just want to know if you’re okay honey, but you don’t have to talk to me if you don’t want to”, he says, hoping that maybe the worry in voice will get her to at least tell him something . He texts Bucky, telling him to maybe try to push up that reservation. He’s not going anywhere until he knows she’s okay, and he knows Bucky will feel the same.

After a couple of minutes, he hears some movement on the other side of the door, and then the sound of the bedroom door unlocking. Good thing he didn’t try to go inside. He can hear Lily walk away from the still closed door. He opens it a little. “Can I come in?”, he asks quietly, and in between sobs he thinks he can make out a “yeah”, so he opens the door a little wider. His heart sinks when he sees his daughter on the bed, her face pressed into the pillows, body shaking a little with her sobbing.

“Oh baby”, he whispers, rushing over and sitting down on the bed beside her, carefully moving some of her long blonde hair from her face. “What’s going on huh? Can you tell me?”.

Lily doesn’t stop crying, but does try to get some words out. While he hates seeing her cry, it’s not the first time he’s tried to figure out what she’s saying through tears, so he’s at least grateful he can make out some of what she trying to say, which comes down to “Noah”, “not anymore”, and “break up”. He felt a little guilty for speaking badly about Noah earlier, but now, now that guilt makes way for anger. But he knows that’s not what Lily needs right now, so he breathes in deep.

He quickly shoots off a text to Bucky, telling him what’s going on and asking him to come up, before dropping his phone. “Oh Lily, I’m so sorry”, he says, taking his daughter into his arms. She goes willingly, wrapping her arms around his middle and pressing her face against his chest, and he can feel his shirt getting wet with tears. He softly cards his fingers through her hair. He’s not sure what to say right now, thinking she probably needs a little time.

He looks up when the door opens again, Bucky walking in, a stormy look on his face. He’s about to open his mouth, probably say something about Noah, something along the lines of “where is this kid” - Steve knows, because that thought is running through his head too - so he quickly shakes his head, hoping his expression is enough to tell Bucky not to. When he sees Bucky take in a deep breath, he knows he understands, and he’s never been more grateful for the fact that they know each other so well.

Bucky makes his way to the bed, sitting down next to Steve, running his hand up and down their daughter’s back. They sit in silence for a while, letting Lily cry, exchanging worried looks. Even if they have had their fair share of heartbreak, and a little on top of that, this is different. Steve hopes Bucky knows what to say, because he feels a little lost. Lily’s life couldn’t be more different than theirs growing up, so even if he knows what it feels like to be heartbroken, he’s worried about saying the wrong thing.

When Lily’s sobbing starts to die down a little, Steve presses a kiss to her temple. “You feel up to talking?”, he asks softly. She shakes her head, then nods, slowly removing her face from where it had been buried against his chest. Her eyes are red and puffy, tear tracks visible all over her cheeks, her skin splotchy red. Steve bites the inside of his cheek, trying not to cry at the sight of it. That’s the last thing they need. He feels Bucky’s comforting hand on his back now, tries to pull it together. This is not about him.

Thankfully, Bucky takes over. “Want to tell us what happened honey?”, he whispers, wiping some of the tears from Lily’s cheeks with his thumb. She swallows roughly, closes her eyes, but finally looks ready to talk. “He, he said he, I”, she starts haltingly, but when she starts talking again it all comes out in a rush.

“We finished practice and we were talking about summer plans and he said he got his college acceptance letters and he’s gonna move away, and he said he didn’t really like me like that anymore, that we’d be better as friends, that he wanted to break up because he didn’t want to do the long distance thing, so that he was ending it”. Before either of them can respond, she says, voice sounding a little angry now “he said he was sure I’d understand , what does that even mean??”

Steve can understand something all right - that Noah kid is a little asshole. He balls his fist up, but Bucky’s hand wraps around it to get him to relax. While Steve is contemplating murdering an 18 year old, or at least severely maiming him- not that he would actually do that, he’s just angry with the kid for upsetting his daughter so much - Bucky’s the voice of reason. “Oh honey, I’m so sorry. What did you say?”

“I said fine, but it’s not fine, I don’t understand, I thought everything was going great? And people stay in long distance relationships all the time, why didn’t he even want to try? I just… I don’t get it papa”, she rushes out, sobs starting up a little again. Bucky moves her into his lap, grabbing her hands and squeezing them a little.

“I know it doesn’t make sense sweetheart. It doesn’t. He wasn’t very nice for just dropping that on you like that. And I know it must hurt a lot huh? You really liked him?”, and Lily nods. “Yeahh I know sweetheart, I’m so sorry you’re feeling like this. But I promise you’ll feel better eventually. You really will”, Bucky continues, and Steve just looks on in awe as he can see Lily’s starting to calm down.

“How about for now, we just get some ice cream and put on a movie? Just a movie night with the three of us. We can talk some more, or we don’t have to talk about it at all. It’s okay to feel those feelings”, he pulls Lily in for a hug. “But if you do want to talk, just know you can always come to daddy and me, okay?”, and Steve can see Lily nod against Bucky’s neck. “Can we watch an old movie?”, he hears her whisper. “Yeah baby, anything you want”.

Bucky stands up, Lily still clinging to him. Even if she’s a tall 16 year old, he carries her easily, that super-soldier serum helpful at times like these. “You wanna go downstairs or our room?”, Bucky asks, and Lily mumbles out a quiet “yours”, so they make their way out of the room, but Steve stays where he is. After a couple of minutes, Bucky comes back. “You wanna go get the ice-“, he starts, but Steve must look a certain way, because he stops talking and makes his way over, cups Steve’s face in his hands. “Hey, you okay?”

Steve nods, closes his eyes. “I just… I was useless just now, I didn’t know what to say, and I would’ve just said the wrong thing, what kind of parent am I?”, he shakes his head, feeling disappointed with himself. “I would’ve just made it worse, and you just, you knew what to do and I just, I just sat there.”

He can feel Bucky tilt his face up. “Come on, open your eyes, look at me baby”, he says, and Steve complies. “You’re a great parent Steve. She trusted you to come in, you let her cry and try to process her feelings, you stopped me from saying something stupid.” Steve shakes his head, unconvinced. “No, no listen to me Steve. You’re an amazing dad. You did everything you needed to do for her. You were there for her when she needed it. And you calmed me down enough to do my part. Because we’re a team, aren’t we Stevie?”

Steve feels a tear run down his face. “Yeah”, he says roughly, “yeah, we’re a team”. Bucky presses a kiss to the top of his head, and removes his hands from Steve’s face. “Good, because as the captain of this team, you’re in charge of ice cream procurement”, Bucky grins, taking a step back. “Make sure there’s cookie dough”, he calls out over his shoulder, making his way back to their bedroom at the end of the hall.

Steve gets himself together, goes downstairs to get the ice cream and makes his way back up, seeing Bucky and Lily cozied up against the headboard. He puts down the spoons and ice cream tubs, and sits down on Lily’s other side. They watch a couple of comedies and rom-coms, and eventually, Lily falls asleep with her head on Steve’s shoulder, a smile on her face. Bucky gets rid of their trash while Steve carefully carries Lily back to her own bed.

Both of them are tired, not just because it’s late but also because of the evening’s high running emotions, so they go to bed not too long after. They settle down on their sides, facing each other. Steve must have a dopey look on his face, because Bucky smiles and asks “what’s that face for?”. Steve smiles back, reaches out to push a lock of hair behind Bucky’s ear, his finger lingering on the side of his face, caressing it slowly.

“Nothing. I just love you. You’re amazing, you know that? God, I couldn’t imagine doing this with anyone other than you”. Bucky raises an eyebrow at him teasingly. “You better not, pal”, he says, in faux-offense, before sobering up. “I hate to see her, any of them, get hurt. Wish I could change it.” Steve pulls Bucky closer to him, tightens his hold around his waist and back. He knows Bucky kept it together for all of them earlier, but just one look at him now and he can see how he’s struggling with it just as much as Steve is. “I know sweetheart. But like someone very wise told me, you did everything right. She’ll be okay.”

Bucky sighs. “Yeah, I know you’re right. Still.”, he mumbles, hiding his face against Steve’s neck. They stay like that for a while in silence, both processing everything but trying to offer each other some comfort. Steve’s about to fall asleep when Bucky whispers “Stevie?”, which he responds to with a hum. “I couldn’t ever imagine doing this with anyone else either. And I love you too.” Steve smiles, presses another kiss to Bucky’s temple, squeezes him close. “I know baby.”

They might not always know what the right thing to do is, might not be able to protect their kids from ever getting hurt. But they have each other. They’re a team. They both fall asleep still a little worried about their daughter, but comforted by the knowledge that at least, they’ll always try to figure it out together.
