Pieces of You Pt 1
Tumblr media
Summary - After losing Feyre to childbirth, Rhysand finds himself leaning on one of her friends much more than he'd ever expected
Warnings - depression, self destructive behavior, babies, grieving, loss of motivation in life, Rhys feels his spark is gone, we haven't seen into readers headspace yet
Prologue
Tumblr media
Rhys had not left his bed in 7 days. He had not changed. He had not bathed. Dark circles were beginning to form under his eyes as a permanent reminder of the lack of sleep he allowed himself.
It took one week. One week for him to feel the light Feyre lit in his soul to go out. One week for him to feel the last of his spark die. One week of tugging nothing but an aching empty void. Rhys saw no joy in life anymore, just burden and heartache.
Cassian entered the room, sitting on the edge of the bed. It had been like this the whole time. Each day, a different member of the Inner Circle would come to his newly claimed room. They'd try to tell him about his son, try to force him to eat, to drink something other than another bottle of whiskey or wine. They all would leave when they realized he wouldn't budge, and that's how Rhys wanted it to be right now. He wanted to be alone. To drown himself in self hatred, in guilt, in anger, in the depths of sadness he had never felt before. “She's asking when you're going to come see him. She's concerned you aren't bonding with him and-”
“Tell her I just lost my fucking mate and I will see him when I'm ready to.” Rhys growled out every letter, glaring at Cassian. “She's fully fucking capable of caring for both of them.”
Cassian's shoulders fell. “Rhys, she just lost her mate, too, remember? The so-called accident in the port? The one we are fairly sure Beron and Koschei planned? He was one of the males killed.”
A moment of sympathy crossed through Rhysand's face before his own grieve ate through the emotion completely. “She was one of Feyre's friends, Rhys. Trust me. She's mourning as hard as we all are as well as mourning her mate, and trying to process it all while caring for two newborns in her home unexpectedly.”
Rhys rolled away from him, indicated he was done, and Cassian sighed, looking down towards his feet. “She's keeping Nyx alive, selflessly, Rhys. Our last physical piece of Feyre. At least consider going and seeing him.”
-
Members of the Inner Circle had all but moved into your cottage.
You had gone from just you and Wen to you, Wen, Nyx, and which ever member or members arrived to take care of you that day.
Today, Lady Death stood at your door with Cassian. They were holding baby supplies, food for lunch, and clothes for both of the babies. Nesta was a shell, moving into the home in silence and setting things down as if time was moving at a slower pace for her.
Cassian tucked your messy hair behind your ear. “I asked him to come see Nyx.”
Your eyes lit up, hope for the little heir shining in them. “And?” Cassian just shook his head, eyes beginning to water as he did.
“Is he asleep?” You nodded at the question. “And Little Mor?” You nodded again.
“I fed them both about 20 minutes ago.”
“Go do something for you,” Nesta's voice was lifeless. “We will make lunch. Azriel will be here soon.”
Azriel had become a constant companion. As soon as he realized Rhys had no interest in seeing Nyx, he had been here, standing in where a father should be. Doing whatever you needed, whatever the babies needed. Even though he was there for Nyx, he still treated “Little Mor," as the Inner Circle had all named your daughter, like he was here for her too.
You moved into your bathroom, looking at the now lukewarm bath you had drawn for yourself. It would be fine. You'd be quick. Then you would be ready to go be super mom and nanny again.
-
Azriel froze when he saw Rhys dressed in casual clothing, waiting for him at the door. He had lunch for the High Lord, hoping he'd be able to make him eat before leaving to be with you and his favorite babies. A shadow curled his ear, whispering how Rhys wanted to go see his son. How he needed to meet you officially. How he was struggling to set aside his own needs. How he was a scared lamb where a lion once stood, ready to run the second things became too difficult.
Azriel held a hand out, reaching for Rhys like the brothers had reached for each other so many times before. He waited, smiling softly at Rhys as a shaking hand placed itself in his and he walked them through the shadows before Rhys could change his mind.
-
Struggling flowers in pots sat outside of the cottage, wilting slightly from the lack of time and care put into them. A blue door sat on silver hinges, greeting them brightly. Mocking Rhysand's sadness with its cheerful presence.
You were an artist, Rhys knew that much. Where Feyre loved to paint, you used charcoal to express yourself. He also knew the two of you were fast friends, constantly having lunch together, shopping together, giggling.
You had been all Feyre spoke of when she met you 4 months ago. Her first true friend with no ties to a lover, to the inner circle, to obligations. You chose her, and she relished in every moment of your love, and from what Rhys understood, you relished in hers.
Rhys had a piece of your artwork. You had sketched out Feyre, mind and hands deep in paint, glowing towards the tail end of her pregnancy as she worked on painting Nesta rising from the Lake as Lady Death.
You had an impeccable eye for details and for making emotions readable through lines. You were a true gem to the Rainbow. A valued member of Velaris. He knew your name long before Feyre had mentioned you, but now, you were irreplaceable.
To him, to Nyx, to the Inner Circle.
They owed you. Rhys owned you. The very least he could do was drag himself out of a bed, throw on clothing, and come see his son. Rhys shook as his hand reached to knock, before scarred ones gently lowered His and twisted the knob.
“We don't knock. We just enter. No loud noises, okay?" Azriel opened the door, nodding to where Nesta sat with her hands on her hand, and Cassian was making lunch. “They must be sleeping?”
Cass nodded not turning his back to face them yet. “Little Mor and Nyx just fell asleep 25 minutes go. Y/n is Bathing in cold water because Mother forbid that female takes a moment for herself-”
As if on cue, as if sensing Rhysand's presence, a piercing cry broke through the house, and they heard a door open and then another. Azriel pulled Rhys with him to the nursery where Nyx and Morwenna slept during the day. "That cry was Nyx," Azriel said softly. "He struggles during naptime. Little Mor has a more rattle cry."
Long hair dripped water onto the wooden floorboards as a small winged figure rested his head on a bare shoulder. “I know, sweetheart,” you bounced him so softly, soothing him back to sleep. “I know you're lonely. It's okay. We can cuddle, I don't mind.” A deep huff left his mouth as he settled in, basking in the contact you were offering him.
Rhys moved like a ghost to the second bassinet where a sweet girl slept, happy and content for what he hoped was a few more moments.
The two of them could have been twins. Same dark hair, similar noses, similar lips set in a forever baby pout.
Aside from gender, there were only two glaring details sitting on Nyx's back that were the tell-tale sign of their different parents. Two glaring details that killed his mate, his wife. “And your son's mother,” a soft feminine voice whispered. “She was his mother, too, High Lord. He is missing her just as much as you are.”
Azriel looked to Rhys, calling for him in his mind. Daemati. Check your shields.
"His shields are fine. He's just screaming his thoughts like they're going to manifest into life if he does."
A deep voice finally answered, void of all emotion. “I don't think he misses her half as much as I do, my lady,” Rhys continued to look at Morwenna. A picture-perfect babe who caused you no harm.
“Little Mor,” Azriel said as he stroked her tuff of dark hair. "This is Morwenna, but we call her Little Mor.” Azriel then moved to Nyx, a ghost of a smile as his lips quickly trembled before he masked it. “You should hold him, Rhys. He might remember your voice.”
“It would be good for both of you,” you whispered. “He needs you. Look into his little mind and then Wen’s,” a pointed look to Azriel allowed Rhys to finally see you.
Tired eyes, features pale from exhaustion, a small smile that didn't reach your eyes. Your beautiful eyes. You were stunning, even by high fae standards, Rhys knew that, but he could hardly appreciate it the way he once had. There was no more beauty in his world. No more light. Feyre had taken it all with her.
“High Lord, please, holding him. Even just for a second.” You moved to Rhys, standing before him, offering so much more than just his son. “He needs you, and you need him. Just open your eyes and see that.”
Rhys held out shaking hands, taking his son in his arms for the first time, holding him for the first time. Bright blue eyes looked up at him, laced with sleep and confusion, before snuggling so closely into his chest that Rhysand felt something stir again. You moved him to the chair, forcing him to sit and handing him tissues as the tears began to fall.
He looked up to where you had grabbed your daughter before she could start crying, soothing her as well. He listened to the soft whispers of your voice, he watched you care for her no differently than you had Nyx, treating them like they were both your own.
It explained the little heir's health, the rolls beginning to form on his little body, the rosy cheeks. You loved him like he was yours, and he loved you.
Rhys looked back down, and as he stared at Nyx, watching each little movement of his chest, feeling his warmth, his happy thoughts and dreams of his and Feyre's voices, of you singing to him and rocking him to sleep. Looking at his son, Rhys realized that maybe, just maybe, there was still some light left in this world. He felt for the first time in a week that maybe, just maybe, there was still something left to live for.

HONEYS RESOURCE BUNDLE⋆.ೃ࿔*:・💶
Tumblr media
a gift from me to you for the new year, to help give tips that can help u succeed 🫶🏽 a post filled with resources, and advice to help u guys improve in every aspect 💗 i love and appreciate u all and i hope u find it helpful.
Tumblr media
₊˚⊹ ᰔ physical movement and activity
find something that u like and thats fitted for ur needs. for me, all of the workouts that i do come from youtube. a girlblogger that always has a lot of workouts to try is @4theitgirls-workouts. to motivate urself to move ur body i recommend buying something cute to workout in because it always makes me feel good. i rly like to do pilates, so since i enjoy pilates -> i'll wanna do it more.
so dont be afraid to try different things and see what u enjoy the most and stick with that bcuz u dont wanna be forcing urself to do something that u won't enjoy/that won't give u the results that u want. if working out in general isn't rly ur cup of tea at all, thats totally okay! try going for walks or start running. maybe try out for a sport or start a style of dance. the whole point of this category is to get urself moving bcuz its rly rly good for ur physical and ur mental health, and it'll serve u in the long run. another youtuber i rly recommend for pilates workouts is madeline abeid.
₊˚⊹ ᰔ self improvement youtubers that i love and watch regularly
the wizard liz
simonesquared
sammy ingram
simmonesimmo
hailey gamba
the freezia
persephonesmind
₊˚⊹ ᰔ law of assumption
of course if u wanna learn about and practice the law of assumption then u can learn and apply thru my advice, experiences, ideas and more. neville goddard is like, the guru of manifesting and hes written a bunch of books, here are neville goddard's books online for FREE so that that then u can learn and see it HIS way bcuz the thing with manifesting is u gotta figure out how it works for you cuz its your reality.
if u like subliminals this is my favorite subliminal maker on youtube. their subliminals r amazing and i enjoy them bcuz they dont have music layered onto it (i like subliminals that have soothing sounds like rain or water or anything asmr). last but not least my absolute favorite manifesting coach/teacher on the whole internet, sammy ingram - literally the best manifesting guide. she rly simplifies things and her channel is full of helpful advice, success stories, challenges and her perspective on manifesting is brilliant so i rly recommend her.
₊˚⊹ ᰔ mental health
journalling is honestly the best thing that i have ever done for my mental health, the ROI that i get from it is actually incredible so i highly highly recommend it. if ur someone who doesn't rly like to write a lot, use ur notes app or whatever just get the thoughts out of ur mind and onto a piece of paper/notes. i understand that sometimes when ur mental health isn't doing too well and u dont feel motivated rly to do anything (like u feel lethargic and stuff) forcing urself to do things ISNT always the answer. i rly recommend having alternate routines cuz we ask a lot from ourselves sometimes so some days, ask a little less.
Tumblr media
give urself the break that u deserve. when u feel like crying, CRY. even if its for no reason, the body holds onto pent up emotions so when u cry u gotta CRY. with time you'll find the things that help u feel better. for everyone its different. for me, when my mental health is in a slump what helps me is : 1. doing one thing differently (i'll go for a walk maybe) 2. get ready (take a quick shower, or if i dont even have the motivation to do that i'll do a sink shower) 3. drink a cold cup of water and make myself a meal. dont ever have zero days. always give at least 1% or do at least one thing.
₊˚⊹ ᰔ hygiene
hygiene is so instrumental in mental health cuz like i've said before looking good -> feeling good. i make sure to get ready everyday even if im going nowhere. just bcuz the process of getting ready gives me so much momentum. smelling good gives me so much confidence bcuz im the type of person thats rly rly scared of smelling bad. im a hygiene JUNKY so im always buying soaps and fragrances. when u make self care a daily thing it'll feel so natural. dont neglect ur oral health, invest in quality products that are suited for your needs. be meticulous when it comes to ur hygiene cuz a solid routine is lowkey comforting. i rly recommend korean skincare, indian haircare, african body care, and arabic perfumes and fragrances. some of my favorite hygiene based youtube channels are : SARA BEQELE and anna renns world
₊˚⊹ ᰔ school
TAKE. SCHOOL. SERIOUSLY. the feeling that u get when u get a good score on an assignment or test is unmatched. at the end of the day ur responsible for ur education. it's not hot to be a loser. if ur someone who struggles to stay on top of assignments, write down the assignment as soon as its assigned and at the next possible chance do it. as soon as u get home from school. reward urself for good grades and for ur accomplishments cuz ur AMAZING. study effectively instead of excessively.
Tumblr media
pursue excellence always. find ways to motivate urself throughout the school day (for me, i always try and incorporate girliness into school cuz that motivates me) all my pens and pencils and folders are pink and i get myself ready everyday before school. cuz when i FEEL good -> i perform well. if u ever dont wanna study remind urself that studying>failing. advocate for urself, dont be afraid to ask questions cuz ur responsible for ur grade if u need accommodations or longer time to take a test (even if u dont) always set urself up to have the most time possible and the most resources. the resources that u have USE THEM. the goal of studying isn't to "mostly" know the material its to know for SURE. when u can explain something thoroughly, thats when you can know if you've studied enough.
₊˚⊹ ᰔ organization + planning
of course for the new year and for life in general, organization is rly helpful. manage urself mindfully and intentionally. even if ur a messy person, organizing isn't difficult if u do it in a way thats right for you. for me, notion - is literally the best organizational tool. i have an agenda, calendars, school pages, and so much more.
Tumblr media
with notion i rly organized my life on a whole other level. aside from notion, the notes app on ur phone is rly useful, when it comes to organizing ur day to day life, i think its important bcuz it helps u to maximize ur time. for planning out ur year, if u find it difficult to stay "on task" or achieve the goals that u set for urself, try this : dont see the year as 365 days, instead separate the year into 4 quarters (90 days each) and in each of those quarters choose one aspect to focus on and pour into. make sure to log and track ur progress on those goals. the idea to this is breaking things down. break down big goals -> to more digestible goals so that then its more believable for u. remember, your limitless.
₊˚⊹ ᰔ nutrition
if ur someone who has bad nutrition, or unhealthy eating habits in general and u wanna change that my biggest advice would be to NOT BE EXTREME. bcuz i feel like if u go fully extreme so quickly then the change isn't sustainable. take it slow. start off by introducing a fruit into breakfast and having a vegetable at dinner, then eating fruit with ur breakfast and having fruit as a snack, and eating veggies with lunch and dinner. ik it sounds repetitive and overdone but u need to be consuming ur fruits and veggies. if ur not eating it with ur meals then maybe have it in a smoothie if that works for u. take supplements for things that u dont rly incorporate into ur diet, and the key to a good diet is BALANCE. dont deny urself food that u love. life is WAY to short to be scared to eat the burger that u so desperately want. its okay to eat what ppl might consider "junk food" but everything in BALANCE and moderation. keep the 80/20 principal in ur mind. 80% of what u eat should be good for u and 20% of what u eat should be whatever u crave. DRINK WATER, dont go on extreme diets if ur not an adult and haven't consulted a doctor it does u more harm than good.
₊˚⊹ ᰔ informative
learn every single day. even if ur not in school anymore. a way to help learn and sharpen ur mind every single day is picking up a hobby that can help u do so. for me, the hobby i have is reading, reading keeps my brain sharp, it keeps me entertained, and when i read nonfiction it keeps me informed. so the hobby of reading has a high ROI. whenever u get an idea of any sort, ACT on it. u dont have to wait a billion years before acting on an idea. when u get ideas, its for a reason, ur mind is brilliant and imagine how many ideas that u wasted. thats why i recommend having a creative outlet of some sort. for me, my creative outlet is my blog where i can come and talk with you guys 🫶🏽 but ur creative outlet can be ur notes app or ur journal or ur sketchbook. just a way to get the ideas in ur brain -> onto paper.
₊˚⊹ ᰔ stuff i wish i knew
ur never ever tied down to one version of urself, u can always change ur mind/opinion, u can create a new version of urself whenever the heck u want. remember that u have free will and that ur always in control. bcuz it is your life it revolves around you and it is your responsibility. its not something to mess around with. take responsibility for urself, ur actions, ur reactions etc.
Tumblr media
1% of progress is better than 0%, a little is always better than nothing. ur social anxiety or ur fear of being perceived is HOLDING U BACK. forgive urself for ur mistakes, everything that ur embarrassed of in ur past let it go and LET YOURSELF LIVE. become ur own project, ur own muse and if all else fails (which it won't, you'll be fine and everything will work itself out for u even better than u could've ever imagined) love yourself unconditionally.

It slowly became a habit. It started small, one time a day if even that. But what started as a habit grew into an addiction. Every little thing set him off, and the only thing to satisfy the desire in him was her. He needed her in ways that he couldn’t even describe. He hungered for her.
It began with pictures, just her regular little posts on Instagram and Snapchat that had no hidden undertone to them, but every single one would have Matt beating his dick until his arm was sore. She had Pavloved him. The second he got the notification that his best friend posted, his cock stiffened and his ears got red and hot just thinking about what could be waiting for him. It didn’t matter where he was or what he was doing, he’d drop everything, all of his attention would be on her in an instant. Today was no different; he had already beat off three times in the few hours he had been awake.
As the day moved forward, and he found the inner strength to keep his dick in his pants, Matt remembered telling her that he’d look for the charger she had left when she stayed over a few nights ago. He spent a solid hour that afternoon searching the house up and down for her phone charger; his room, the living room, the kitchen, Nick’s room, hell, he even checked Chris’s room (despite Chris’s many protests followed by a shoe being launched at Matt’s shin), though he still came up empty handed.
Matt went back to his bedroom, shutting the door behind him. He took a seat in his desk chair, rolling himself close enough to his desk to click his monitor on, grabbing the controller that had been set aside on his desk to charge. He turned his gaming console on, the sound of it whirring to life filling the silence in the room. He reached into his pocket, taking his phone out to send her a quick text.
‘i may have lost it’
‘your mind?’
‘no’
‘your keys?’
‘no’
‘OMG’
‘?’
‘YOUR V CARD?????’
‘WHAT NO’
‘omg matty who is she 🤭🤭🤭🤭’
‘I DID NOT’
‘then i fear i do not know what you could be talking about, for i am not a mind reader’
‘your weird’
‘you’re*’
‘i actually hate you.’
‘stfu you love me. now what are u talking abt’
‘you’re charger’
‘your*’
‘you know what 😀’
‘LMAOOOO don’t blow a fuse, it’s a $10 charger i’ll just get another one. thank u for letting me know tho’
‘ofc’
He stared at the screen, his heart beating faster when he saw the read receipt pop up under his message. He waited, taking his bottom lip between his teeth as she began to type. A smile tugged at his lips as the typing message bubble disappeared, waiting for the message to pop up on his screen.
A minute passed. Then two. Still nothing. Matt’s smile faltered a little.
‘?’
‘oh shit i didn’t know you were still here’
‘what we’re you typing?’
‘were*’
‘😀 nevermind i don’t care’
‘noooo matty come back 😂’
‘i’ll get it right one day’
‘i have full faith in you, matthew. until then, im gonna be up your ass about it’
‘so…?’
‘so what?’
‘what were you typing?’
Matt could hardly sit still. His leg bounced anxiously, he bit his nails impatiently. She had been typing for a while, was it something bad? Shit, have i fucked up recently and just didn’t notice?
‘nothing 😇’
‘you’re a dirty liar’
‘😜’
‘cmon, i’m youre best friend tell meeeee’
‘your*’
‘GET A NEW BEST FRIEND’
‘okay okay i’m done 😂 you’re so easy to tease’
‘Ayo 🤨’
‘not like that 🙄
‘well, you probably are pretty easy to tease like that too”
Matt choked on his own saliva. Did I read that right? He read it again, the blood rushing from his cheeks to his cock. His brain short circuited. Any possible responses that he could’ve came up with dissolved into nothingness. He spent two minutes trying to type a witty comeback or some sort of smooth flirtatious reply, but when push came to shove, all he could build the courage to send was-
‘what?’
She started typing, and as the speech bubble floated in the corner of his screen, Matt palmed at the bulge in his sweats. His mind raced with thoughts, all wondering what she could have possibly been thinking about. Fuck, does she think about doing things with me? Does she want to tease me? How would she even-
The speech bubble disappeared. Matt slipped his hand under the waistband of his sweatpants and his boxers, taking his hard cock in his fist. He stroked his shaft slowly, his eyes fluttering shut while he pursed his lips to hold back a moan. He waited for her response to pop up. One minute…then two…then five. He furrowed his eyebrows, his strokes slowly coming to a stop as he eyed their text messages. Why isn’t she responding? Did I make her uncomfortable? Is she weirded out?
His heart nearly dropped out of his ass when the facetime notification illuminated his screen. Without thinking to take his hand out of his pants, Matt quickly answered the call.
It took a moment for the call to connect, but when it finally did, Matt felt almost frozen in place. His heart skipped a beat, his face grew flushed with a warm rosy heat. She smiled at him and his breath caught in his throat.
“Hey!”
Matt smiled. “Hey, what’s up.”
“What, I can’t call my best friend out of the blue just to hang out?” She laughed softly. “What are you up to?” She asked.
“Just, yknow…” he trailed off, shrugging his shoulders a bit. “Was playing fortnite for a bit-“
She tilted her head to the side a little, furrowing her eyebrows. “I didn’t see you online. I would’ve joined you if I knew,” she grinned. “Can’t believe you played without me,” she playfully rolled her eyes.
Matt swallowed. Her eyes looked so pretty rolled back into her head like that, I could watch her do that for hours. Matt slowly stroked his cock, pursing his lips tightly to keep himself quiet. ‘Can’t believe you played without me’ replayed in his head like a broken record. His mind wandered off, thinking about the beautiful girl on his screen sitting on his bed. Her clothes discarded onto the floor mindlessly, seated on his bare thighs. Matt bit the inside of his cheek, pre-cum drooling from the tip of his cock as he imagined her pretty manicured fingers circling her clit, her eyes hooded and full of lust as lewd sounds spilled from her parted lips. His dick ached at the thought of her running her fingers through her wet folds, playing with herself in front of him, on full display just for him. ‘Can’t believe you played without me,’ her voice repeated in his head again, his mouth going dry as he thought of her looking at him with a pout while saying this, her pretty doe eyes staring at him with nothing but desire hidden behind their gaze.
He kept his strokes slow and controlled. This is so fucking wrong, he thought. If she knew…he couldn’t even think of the possibilities. She’d be disgusted, she’d be so upset. Matt would never be able to show his face in a public setting again.
“How was your day?” Matt asked in a soft voice, afraid that if he spoke any louder, his own voice would betray him. He watched as the smile on her face grew and he felt his heart twinge. This is so wrong. What the fuck is wrong with me.
“Aww Matty, you do care!” She teased. Matt let out a breathy chuckle, hoping she couldn’t hear the rasp in his voice. She began to list off the many side quests she endured on her day off from work, and Matt listened to every single thing she had to say. His eyes focused on her lips as she spoke to him. Her lips are so pretty. Fuck, I wanna kiss her so bad. I wanna feel her lips on mine. She’d look so fucking pretty with my dick in her mouth. I wonder how much she’d be able to take. Would I have to fuck her throat to make it all fit? Would she drool on my cock while I fuck her pretty mouth?
“Matt?”
He tugged at his cock, letting out a soft exhale when he heard her voice. Please say my name again. Say my name again. It sounds so pretty coming from you, I’ve never liked my name more than when it’s being said by you. His mind wandered off once more. What positions does she like? Would she prefer missionary? She’d look so pretty under me while I fuck her, her tits would bounce so nicely with every thrust I make. Or would she want something more intense? Would she want me to take her from behind? Would she want to be in charge? What turns her on? Does she wear lingerie?
“Matt…?”
Matt grunted softly under his breath, the speed of his strokes increasing just barely enough to tell. He focused his attention back on the call. “H-Huh?”
“I asked what you did today,” she repeated. “Did you have a good day?”
It took a moment for her words to register in his brain, his mind foggy with lust and desire, his cock dripping with arousal. He gave his shaft a gentle squeeze, a low growl forming at the back of his throat. “It’s much better now,” he admitted, earning a giggle from her in return. He smiled. He loved being able to make her laugh. It was something that most people couldn’t do, but Matt did it so effortlessly. He took pride in it; even his brothers couldn’t make her laugh nearly as easily as Matt could. “Didn’t do much, just-“ he stopped, trying to think of something to say other than ‘i sat around beating off to your pictures all day’. He cleared his throat, a moan threatening to escape as the warmth in the pit of his tummy grew. “Just stayed in bed all day.”
She rolled her eyes again, and Matt felt his balls grow heavy with arousal, his thumb rubbing at his tip with each slow stroke he made. Matt’s lips parted; he wanted to moan so bad. He wanted her to see what she does to him. He wanted her to know just how badly he wanted her. His eyes became glossy as he lost himself in a daze, staring at her through the screen.
“Are you okay? You’re acting weird.”
Matt nodded, still not taking his hand out of his pants. This is so fucking wrong. Why am I doing this? I’m risking our entire friendship. “Hey, I uh- I gotta go,” Matt stated abruptly. He didn’t want to go. He never wanted to go a minute without her, but if he didn’t leave the call soon, he’d end up in a world of trouble for sure.
“Oh…okay, well call me ba-“
Click.
Matt dropped his phone down onto his desk and leaned back in his desk chair, his shaggy hair falling in front of his eyes, strands of his hair sticking to his forehead as a thin layer of sweat began to form at his brow. He pushed his sweats and boxers down just enough to free his cock, a moan escaping him. He tugged the bottom of his sweatshirt and t-shirt up so as to not ruin it, a ritual that had become engraved into his brain from the regular reoccurrence of it. He grunted softly, tugging at his shaft desperately, his eyes screwing shut.
I need her. I need to have her, all of her. I need to feel her and taste her. I want to be between her legs, I want to taste how sweet she is, I want to watch her fall apart from just my tongue. I want to feel her squirm and run her fingers through my hair. I want to hear her whine and beg for more. Matt fisted at his cock, his strokes much faster than before. His breathing was uneven and heavy, almost panting like an animal. He needed her, he hungered for her, he craved her. Something about it was so primal. Every time he saw her or heard her, he had a full body reaction, one that he couldn’t control even if he wanted to.
Although, he really didn’t want to.
“Fuck, baby,” he groaned. As if on cue, his phone vibrated on his desk. His eyes fluttered open, a lustful dazed look glazing over his irises. He picked up his phone, a notification from snapchat flashing on his screen. Never ceasing his strokes, Matt opened the app and clicked on the new snap from her. His jaw went slack, pumping his cock in his fist even faster than before. He stared at her photo for much longer than he should have, but how could he not? She had her head tilted a bit, a confused look on her face with the words ‘not even a goodbye? so mean, matty’ printed across the photo.
“Fuck me,” he whimpered. She looks so cute when she’s confused. Fuck, the things I would do to paint her face with my cum while she looks at me like that…I’d probably get put on the FBI watchlist. He knew he needed to reply back soon, not wanting her to assume he was ignoring her. He just couldn’t bring himself to tap out of the photo. His cock ached, the desire building up inside of him. “Fuck, p-please,” he breathed out. Matt threw his head back, his strokes getting impossibly faster with each passing moment. Pre-cum oozed from his tip, his fist slick with his arousal.
Another snapchat notification from her came through and Matt inhaled sharply, tapping out of the photo and clicking on the new one. Matt choked out a whine, the muscles in his bicep tightening as he began to reach his high. “Fuck-“ he grunted. His breath caught in his throat as his mind went blank, pleasure coursing through his veins. It was like a drug to him. He couldn’t get enough of the feeling; It didn’t take long for him to get addicted to it, and soon enough once a day turned into twice a day, which turned into three times a day, which turned into too many fucking times to count.
He groaned, a string of vowels passing his lips, his jaw hanging low as he watched his cum spurt from his tip. He breathed in short heavy pants, slowing his strokes to ride out his orgasm. Five ribbons of white hot cum painted his lower stomach. His dick throbbed from the intensity of his orgasm and his body shivered as he slowly came down from his high.
It took a handful of minutes for Matt to realign his senses. His chest rose and fell with even breaths, his dick rested in the puddle of cum on his abdomen. He looked at his hand, his mess coating his fingers and his palm. I wonder if she’d lick my hand clean. Would she suck on my fingers? Would she look up at me with her infamous puppy dog eyes while she does it?
His eyes darted back to his phone, his heart racing as he quickly remembered that he still hadn’t replied to her. He groaned softly upon seeing her pretty face on his screen, her previous snap still on full display for him. He took another moment to admire her before tapping out of the photo. Matt quickly fixed his hair with his clean hand, wiping the sweat from his forehead with the back of his forearm. He picked his phone back up and quickly snapped a photo of himself. He typed a response before sending it to her.
Tumblr media
Matt waited for a response, not caring about the mess that still hadn’t been attended to. The nerves in his brain lit up like a Christmas tree as she opened his snap, the endorphins filling him with dopamine as she sent back another photo. He was quick to open it, not caring if she caught on to his eagerness.
Tumblr media
He tucked his cock back into his boxers, pulling them back up along with his sweats. He stood up, holding the bottom seam of his shirt up, quickly making his way to the bathroom to clean himself up. He peeked out into the hallway, making sure Nick and Chris weren’t anywhere near before slipping into the bathroom, shutting the door behind him.
Matt cringed at the sticky feeling on his hand, quickly turning on the faucet at the sink, running his hand under the water to rinse most of his mess down the drain. He dried his hand, then grabbed a handful of tissues, cleaning up the rest of his cum before discarding the used tissues into the waste bin. He let his shirt fall down to cover his torso, his eyes landing on his reflection in the mirror. His gaze darted away, disgusted with what he saw.
You’re a terrible friend. If she ever found out, you’d be lucky to not have a restraining order against you. What the fuck is wrong with you. How can you even call yourself her best friend. You don’t deserve her.
He left the bathroom in a hurry, slipping back into his room, gently kicking the door shut behind him. He sat back down at his desk, picking up his phone once again.
Without a second thought, he opened his facetime app, clicking on her contact. The phone only rang twice before she answered, her pretty face illuminating the screen after the call connected. Matt offered her a warm smile, propping his phone up on his desk. “Sorry I hung up on you before,” he mumbled softly, scratching the back of his neck as his gaze landed on her. He picked his headset up off of his desk, holding it for her to see. “Wanna run duos with me?”

Okay! Actually last one just something quick! Mary joining you on a family day or you joining her family for the day (like day trip to a farm or like men’s footie game or smth idk) and just getting crazy baby fever seeing her playing with your/her nieces and nephews
family day out II m.earps
"are you excited to see your family love?" mary asked as she drove, squeezing your hand and flashing you a quick smile before her eyes focused back on the road. "i'm excited to see the kids. the rest of that lot, less so!" you rolled your eyes playfully as mary chuckled.
"come on baby your brothers aren't that bad!" mary defended and you gave her a firm look. "okay they can be a little bit much." the keeper admitted with a sheepish smile as she arrived to the field, starting to look for a parking spot.
"oh just you wait till you see them in action today." you chuckled knowingly, mary doing a lap of the block and finding a park a short walk away, reversing in. "sideline coaches then?" mary winced as she shut off the engine.
"sideline coaches. for six year old girls!" you shook your head with a smile, slipping out of the car and taking marys hand as the two of you started to walk.
she'd fractured a finger in training which meant she was being rested for the weekend when united were playing away. as much as you'd tried to convince her to go and watch she decided she'd rather spend the weekend with you given you'd been away all week on a work conference.
"pitch four?" you frowned in confusion your eyes scanning over the text from your brother, about a dozen seperate little fields littering the oval in front of you. "oh is that your mum? liz!" mary cupped her hands over her mouth and shouted causing you to wince as several heads swung to look at the pair of you.
"see! told you. come on baby." mary interlocked your fingers again, ignoring the mumbles of people clearly recognizing her as she pulled you over to where your family was. "mary! what a lovely surprise." your mum beamed wrapping her in a tight hug, you'd swear she liked the older girl more than you sometimes.
"she didn't tell you i was coming? typical." mary tutted as you shoved her, hugging your mum next as mary moved to hug a few more of your family members she'd met before. "mum!" you hissed, pulling your hand away as the woman held it up clearly inspecting for a ring.
"just checking darling." you rolled your eyes. "if i was engaged you'd be one of the first people to know." you chuckled, shaking your head and returning to marys side as she chatted with your brothers.
"no nicholas put me down!" you squealed as your eldest brother scooped you up off your feet into a bear hug and shook you side to side, your other brother james ruffling your hair aggressively as you shot them both a glare and they dropped you back to your feet.
"honestly a couple of children." you huffed fixing your hair making mary smile and pull you into her side, kissing the side of your head. "where's the kids?" you questioned, unable to spot your neice or nephews anywhere. "gracie's warming up with her team and the boys are...somewhere." nick frowned, admittedly not having seen them for a while.
"dad of the year mate!" you patted him on the shoulder, wrapping his wife alice into a hug as she appeared. "oh there they are! boys!" nick shouted loudly, waving them over from where they were off climbing a tree in the car park.
the twins raced over as you braced, both of them crash tackling into you as you stumbled with a laugh but hugged the eight year olds tightly. "thing one, thing two." you teased as they started to bicker over who was which number.
"oh you brought aunty mary!" noah spotted your girlfriend off chatting with your mum, your heart melting as both the twins faces lit up and they let go of you sprinting over to see her. "she's good with them." james smiled beside you, both of you watching as your girlfriend slung jack over her shoulder and sprinted off, noah chasing after her with a laugh.
"she's great with kids, really really great." you sighed, your mind drifting a little about what she would be like with your own kids. "oi ground control to major tom!" you were snapped out of it as your brother smacked your forehead harshly.
"noah, jack, come here please!" you called, noticing a small crowd of people had gathered around your girlfriend wanting photos, watching her face shift as she glanced nervously to the twins clearly not wanting them photographed.
she looked up and mouthed an apology as you waved her off, distracting the boys as she busied herself meeting and greeting the small crowd. "not every day a lioness comes to our dear little club." nick teased as you carefully watched to make sure mary was okay, simply humming.
you saw her excuse herself, pointing to where you stood with your family with an apologetic smile, the crowd thankfully respectful of her wishes and leaving her be as she made her way back. "superstar returns!" james teased her as you punched him in the arm, mary only chuckling and apologising.
"no need love, it's part of your job. you're a fabulous role model for the young ones!" your mum assured her with a soft smile before turning back to her conversation with your aunt, applause starting as the girls started to line up and you all took your seats.
mary tugged you to sit on her lap on the camp chair she occupied, kissing your cheek making you smile. "proud of you." you caressed her cheek with a tender gaze. "for what?" she smiled but with a hint of confusion.
"being you. my mums not wrong, you're a brilliant player but you're such a positive public figure too. you're changing the game and the world for kids like gracie and her team, and i couldn't be prouder of you for it." you promised, leaning in to peck her lips and grinning as her cheeks blushed bright red.
"right enough of that then you'll make me cry." she dismissed as you chuckled, settling into her as her arms wrapped around you and the pair of you cheered alongside your family as the whistle blew for the game to start.
your niece caught your eye on the sideline, face lighting up as she gave you an aggressive wave and a toothy grin. "mary! can you play please?" noah popped up beside you holding a football with a hopeful look.
"go love. it's a round robin there's a few games today!" you encouraged, standing up as mary kissed your cheek appreciatively causing your nephew to gag. "ohh watch out, i'll come and kiss your cheek next!" mary warned, chasing after him with a grin as you shook your head and settled back down.
~
"you did so good gracie! two goals!!" you cheered, sweeping her up into a hug, her team having won three out of their four games today and your brothers being surprisingly well behaved had meant for a lovely day out.
"we've gotta work on your celebrations." you teased, tickling her and placing her down as she raced over to greet the rest of your family. your nephews still playing with mary on a free field you smiled seeing how good and patient she was with them, having mediated many an argument between the twins today.
you waved her over as she caught your eye, catching one of noahs shots and challenging them to a race back, taking off and letting the boys win as all three of them returned.
"hello!" you grunted as noah launched at you, clinging onto your leg and looking up at you with puppy dog eyes. "what?" you laughed knowing he wanted something, catching mary squat down to hug gracie out of the corner of your eye once more melting your heart.
"can we pleasee have a sleepover at your house tonight? aunty mary said it was okay with her if it was okay with you!" he pleaded, hugging your leg even tighter as you chuckled and brushed his shaggy hair out of his eyes.
"if your mum and dad say yes then thats fine." you agreed as he cheered loudly and raced off to check in. "can i come too?" mary appeared beside you with gracie in her arms, tickling her sides as you grinned at her little giggles.
"you aren't tired babe? you've been running around today more than mary does in a whole season!" you teased, your girlfriend pinching your sides with her free hand for the comment. "goal keepers are the unsung heros of the team." gracie repeated making your girlfriend grin.
"very true! you're so wise gracie." mary gasped squeezing her tightly before putting her back down. "mm wonder where she's heard that from?" you tutted, shaking your head at the taller girl who grinned.
"no idea? kid just knows how it is i guess!" mary shrugged feigning innocence, tugging your body into hers and pecking your lips a few times. "now now you two there's children about! save it for the bedroom." your brothers teased as you flipped them off, hastily dropping your finger as the kids appeared, all cheering happily that they were allowed to sleepover.
"are you sure you're right with all three of them?" alice asked worriedly, both you and mary assuring you'd be fine. "gives the two of you a night yourselves as well. go have a nice dinner or something!" you smiled, agreeing the kids would go home to grab their things and your brother would drop them off in a couple of hours.
"yeah. piece of cake! we love kids."
~
turns out, it was not a piece of cake.
"ah gracie don't touch that please, it's hot babe." you warned, quick to grab her hand where it reached for the stove top where you were attempting to cook dinner, but with three lively kids running about it was anything but.
"nope! noah don't chase your brother with that please!" you were quick to snatch one of marys trophies out of his grasp and place it out of reach. "why!" he whined with a huff, stomping his foot. "it's sharp buddy, if you slip and fall you could hurt yourself." you put firmly but gently.
"yeah and if you break my trophy mate i'll hang you upside down from the stairs by your ankles!" mary pounced on him causing laughs to ring out as he called for help and mary grunted as now all three kids latched onto her.
"i told you the ice cream was a bad idea mary." you warned her with a scowl, the keeper wincing apologetically. "okay! new plan." she yelled out, both boys dropping off of her as gracie remained hugging her leg tightly.
"football in the backyard. first one to score against me gets to choose what movie we watch after dinner!" mary clapped, footsteps thundering outside as they raced one another out to the goals and you sighed in relief at the sudden peace and quiet.
"smells divine. i love you!" marys hands grabbed your face, pulling you into a kiss and mumbling an apology against your lips. "mm better be earps. go tire em out!" with that you swatted her bum with the wooden spoon in your hand.
"excuse me there is children running about here young lady! cheeky." mary gasped playfully, stealing one more kiss before running out to the backyard. without them underneath your feet you were able to focus a little more on dinner, still watching out with a tender smile at your girlfriend messing about in the backyard.
as you started to dish everything up again you couldn't help but allow your mind to wander about what it would be like with your own kids with mary, the two of you had been together two years now and in your late twenties you knew it was something you wanted.
"dinner!" you yelled out the back door once everything was dished up and ready on the table. "ah! shoes off, wash hands and wash....faces?" you spoke with a puzzled look at the dirt smeared over all four of them, your girlfriend included.
"yeah look the game got pretty intense babe, i'm talking euros final sort of stuff." mary whistled as you hummed, just smiling in amusement as the four of them left their shoes outside and raced off to the bathroom to wash up.
~
"oh yes! wiggle those hips noah thats it, full rotation!" you laughed from the kitchen, watching on as mary stood on the coffee table clapping. your nephews and neice danced around the living room below her, fed, showered and changed after much argument and fuss.
mary again allowing them to have ice cream after dinner their energy levels had surged, so she was now giving them a dance class in an attempt to tire them out as you washed everything up from dinner.
"very good gracie! love it love it." mary cheered, the song changing as you sighed knowing the catchy childrens tunes would now likely be stuck in your head for the next week.
"okay! movie time, aunty mary is exhausted." your girlfriend announced, shutting off the music after another twenty minutes and collapsing onto the lounge with a dramatic groan.
"right! jack you won, what are we watching?" you joined them, grabbing the remote as your nephew pondered for a moment. "peter pan!" he announced after a few seconds.
"your dads raising you right, fabulous choice."
~
the movie almost finished you'd gently moved a dead asleep gracie off your chest and stepped out for a moment to take a call from your brother who'd returned from dinner, assuring him everything was fine.
you agreed to drop the kids off around ten the next morning, mary having already promised to make them pancakes once they woke up in an attempt to calm them down earlier after dinner.
wishing him goodbye you returned to the living room, your heart absolutely melting into a puddle at the sight before you as you did. mary was dead asleep on the other end of the lounge, noah tucked in between her legs, jacks head on her lap and gracie tucked into her side.
snapping a few photos on your phone with a soft smile you took in the sight for a few more moments, turning off the tv and gently moving to pick gracie up, the young girl stirring but staying asleep as you gently carried her upstairs to bed.
tucking her in you kissed her forehead and returned downstairs. "mary, love." you whispered, running a hand through the keepers hair who thankfully was quite a light sleeper, her eyes fluttering open.
"hi sleepyhead." you chuckled as she stretched, careful not to move or wake the twins. "can you grab jack and i'll grab noah please?" she nodded tiredly as you lifted your nephew with a slight grunt, his head slumping to your shoulder.
mary flicked off the lights as you both carried the boys upstairs, tucking them in beside gracie, the three of them easily fitting into the king sized spare bed, gently closing the door with a soft click.
"you do know we'll be waking up with at least one of them in here yeah?" you smiled knowingly as the two of you collapsed into bed after brushing your teeth, mary only laughing in response.
"hi." the keeper smiled as you pressed your forehead to hers, exchanging a few sweet kisses and i love you's before she reached over to flick the lamp off.
"mary." you started, the older girl humming, your back tucked into her front as her arms held you tightly. "seeing you with the kids today...you're so great with them." you admitted, rolling onto your other side to look at her.
"i love them, they're great kids." mary smiled softly, running a hand through your hair fondly. "do you think about having kids one day?" you blurted out suddenly, cheeks flushing red as her eyebrows shot up in surprise at the sudden question.
"sorry that was very forward." you groaned, tucked your face into her neck in embarrassment as she only chuckled. "i do baby, all the time." mary admitted, nudging your head back out to look at her, soft smile on her features.
"really?" "really."
"so do i." you spoke, smile curling onto your own lips. "we could-" mary started but stopped. "no go on love." you encouraged, thumb stroking the curvature of her jaw.
"we could make an appointment to go speak to someone about everything, get some more information, if you wanted to." she hurried through her words, worried for your reaction if everything suddenly became real.
"i do my love, i really really do."

Hi! I love love love the other half. After the last chapter I hope Bruce does something nice for shop girl (and for himself to ig). Them being sweet just makes me screech.

Some sweet Bruce comin' riiiight up
Warnings: Very light angst; mostly fluff
Not beta-read
Tumblr media
“Are you awake?” Bruce’s breath brushes against the bare skin of your shoulder. You grunt softly, shifting where you lay on your belly. The sheets are soft and warm beneath you; you can see sunlight beginning to creep in between the curtains of the master bedroom of the mansion.
“...No,” You finally mumble, voice grumbling and thick with sleep. Bruce chuckles, pressing a sweet kiss to your shoulder as his palm brushes over your back, dipping beneath the covers. You hum softly, arching up into his touch and sighing through your nose.
“Why are you awake?” You counter. “What time did you get in?”
“A little after two.”
“Oh, wow. Early night for you.”
“Moderately.”
You roll onto your back, gently dislodging Bruce’s hand. You scrub the sleep from your eyes with the heels of your palms before you finally tip your chin up, getting a better look at him. He does look more well-rested than he has in a while: his eyes are bright as he smiles down at you.
Christmas and New Years had passed with little to no incident. Your Christmas celebration had been small; the most tense point had been a short video call with your parents. Conversation overall had been stilted, but not as bad as pulling teeth. New Year’s had been spent at Liz and Grant’s for their blowout celebration, but your night with Bruce had ended early when the signal had shown in the sky.
Still, despite your bumps and hurdles, you feel like the two of you are slowly inching toward where you had been before your break-up. Some of the buoyancy is coming back to both of you. With your relationship no longer Gotham’s best-kept secret, Bruce openly picks you up after work. Sure, you’re still mobbed by the press, but you’re so used to it that it hardly makes a dent anymore. You aren’t tip-toeing around one another. If you have a disagreement, Bruce stays to talk it out. Now and again he may step out of the room to get his head together—but he always comes back.
It isn’t perfect—it will never be perfect—but it feels more solid, and safe.
You raise your hand, sweeping it gently across his cheek, and giggling softly as he tips his head to press a kiss to your palm.
“Someone’s in a good mood.”
“Well someone,” Bruce leans closer, brushing his nose against yours, “Has plans for you today.”
“For me? Little ol’ me?”
You hardly have a chance to get the tease out before Bruce captures your lips in a tender kiss. You sink back into the mattress as he presses closer, looping your arms around his shoulders and smiling as his tongue gently probes between your lips. You hum at the feeling, shifting your hips as Bruce’s hand skims across them, then down your thigh. You pout as he draws back just a little, dropping another peck to your lips before his forehead rests against yours.
“What are these plans, exactly?”
“I don’t want to ruin any surprises.”
“Surprises?” You lean into it as your brows raise. Plural?”
“You’ll see.” Bruce gives you one more quick, warm kiss before he leans away. “Shower, get dressed. I’ll get you some coffee.”
You push yourself up onto your elbows, an intrigued smile curling your lips. “What the hell are you up to, mister?”
“You’ll see!”
--
Bruce doesn’t let a single tip slip throughout your shared coffee, or on the way out—not even when you crowd him into an alcove by the stairs and nibble on his earlobe. He nearly crumbles for a moment, but he rests his hands on your hips and gives them a lusty squeeze before reassuring: “There’ll be plenty of time for that later.”
You narrow your eyes slightly as Bruce steers you out of the dim space, a smile curling your lips as you take in the rising flush in his cheeks.
“Looking a little flustered there, Mr. Wayne.”
“What ever gave you that idea—Alright,” He chuckles as you lean in, pushing cool air over his earlobe. “You can’t get secrets out of me that way.” He curls his arm around yours, steering you toward the front steps of the mansion.
“Mm, but I was this close. What would the sinister of Gotham think if they found out that Batman needed so little teasing to crumble?”
“Why do you think the helmet covers my ears?”
You snort, bumping your hip against him before the two of you slow at the sight of Alfred standing in front of one of Bruce’s cars.
“Go on,” Bruce urges softly when you meet his eye again. “I’ll see you tonight.”
“At one of my many surprises?”
“Exactly.”
You pucker your lips, and grin as Bruce leans in for another indulgent kiss.
“Love you.”
“Love you, too.” He pats your lower back, urging you forward. “I’ll see you later.”
You grunt, jogging down the front steps.
“Morning, Alfred.”
“Good morning, miss.”
“I take it you’re in on these shenanigans?”
“Shenanigans may be a rather harsh word for the day ahead.” He shoots you a wink as he opens the door for you.
“Any hints?”
“I’ve been sworn to secrecy.”
--
Alfred leaves you at the front door of Grove, one of your favorite restaurants, at 11:30 AM on the dot, and tells you that your name is on the reservation. You linger in the reception area as the waiter prepares your table.
“Ugh, tell them to hurry up, I want a fucking mimosa.”
You shriek at the familiar voice, whirling around from the reception desk and right into Michelle’s arms. She cackles, and the two of you hug one another tightly for a long few moments.
“What are you doing here!” You ask, reeling away to get a better look at her.
"Moneybags offered to fly me in. No way was I turning down first class, a free brunch, and…Some other stuff.”
“Ugh, not you, too,” You whine. You let it drop just long enough for the waiter to show the two of you to a quiet table at the back of the restaurant. You let Michelle order the two of you a round of mimosas before you lean across the table. “Come on, not even a hint?”
“Well, I’m going to be around for a few hours, but that’s all you’re getting.”
“When did he reach out?”
“Like…I don’t know, sometime during gooch week?”
“During what?”
“Gooch week—you know, the week between Christmas and New Years? Like the bit between the asshole and the—”
“Okay, I got it, I got,” You wave her off as the waiter sets down your mimosas. “What did he tell you, at least? That made you come down here.”
“He said that he wanted to do something nice for you.”
You hum thoughtfully, narrowing your eyes as you consider what that could possibly mean. Bruce does nice things for so often.
“I think he still feels like he needs to make up for the whole…Situation.”
“Well, he does,” Michelle mutters, taking up her glass and taking a deep swig. You fight back a chastising frown.
“...He’s been getting better. We’ve been better,” You insist.
“Do you think he’s going to propose tonight?”
Her question stuns you, and for a moment, you can’t say anything. The prospect makes your head spin, and you actually lean back in your seat with the weight of it.
“I…” You shake your head, “I don’t…”
Michelle’s lift with interest, and she leans in.
“You don’t…what? Know how big the ring is gonna be?”
“I don’t think he’s going to ask,” You laugh. I mean, at least, not right now. He and I haven’t spoken about it in a long time.”
“Not even after the attack?”
“We’ve talked about a lot of things, but that’s not one of them.”
Michelle grunts softly. “If he proposed tonight, what would you say?”
“He’s not going to.”
“But if he did?”
“Knee-jerk reaction? Probably yes. But we’ve still got a lot of crap to sort through.”
“Like what?”
“Like…” You flub for a a reasonable answer before you manage: “He’s an insomniac.”
Michelle's expression is rife with disbelief, and you couldn't blame her. To a reasonable person, it's probably not a great reason to end a relationship.
“That’s a deal breaker for you?”
“I know it sounds kinda petty, but it makes more of an impact than you’d think.”
“What else?”
“I mean, I’d kind of like him to make peace with my parents before any of that. Not like, go to them and ask for my hand—I don’t care about that and they don’t, either. But if he’s going to be family to them, I just want all of that bad blood from Thanksgiving cleared up.”
“He wasn’t given the green after the office?”
“I mean, they appreciated it, but my mom is convinced that bad luck just follows him.”
“Maybe it does.”
You purse your lips, swirling your mimosa a little.
“Maybe.”
The two of you consider it for a few moments before Michelle reaches out, patting your hand and pointing to your menu.
“Let’s order. I don’t want to miss our spa appointment.”
“Spa?”
She winces. “Just act surprised when we turn up so Lord Fancy doesn’t report back to the billionaire that I spoiled anything.”
--
“Are you kidding me?”
Bruce smiles smugly as he watches you nearly double over in laughter. You don’t care that the entire floor staff of Chef du Roi is looking at you like you’re insane.
“I figured we should try the food here at least once,” Bruce insists as you calm, steering you by the arm toward your table. You swipe a few tears that had gathered from your eyes, chuckling still as he draws your chair out for you.
“Thank you.” Your smile widens as Bruce leans in, pressing a gentle kiss to your cheek before he rounds to his seat. You take the proffered menu from the waiter, flipping it open. You wait until the waiter is out of earshot before you comment, “You know, I’ve been dying for Chipotle lately.”
“Ha-ha.”
You giggle, wriggling your foot out of your new pair of pumps and gently brushing your toe along his calf. Bruce’s gaze flickers to yours from beneath his lashes, and you fight back a devilish grin.
“So, the spa, the shopping spree, flying in my best friend…May I ask what triggered such largesse?”
“Well, it’s not every day that I have to scramble to make up for missing our first anniversary by bringing you back to the scene of our first date,” Bruce comments, glancing between menu pages. It feels a little like a goad—especially considering the fact that he’s the reason you’d missed your anniversary, and you both know it. You just hum thoughtfully, glancing over the entrees.
“...Technically the scene of our first date was the diner near the store I worked at,” You remind him. “This was our second date—And we didn’t even eat here.”
“Nitpick nitpick nitpick.”
“I learned from the best.”
“Michelle?”
“Alfred.”
Bruce chuckled, setting his menu aside. “How is Michelle?”
“She’s doing pretty well. Still adjusting to Keystone City, obviously, but she said that she enjoys how quiet it is by compairson…Thank you, by the way.”
“I know how much you’ve been missing her.”
“...She’s worried.”
“That I’ll do it again?”
“Yeah.”
“Are you worried?” “Should I be?”
You don’t look up from your menu for a moment. You can feel him watching you heavily, but you don’t let it bow or shy you back from the question. You feel the table shift as he leans forward a little.
“Baby.”
“Mm?”
“If for some reason I lose my mind and do that again, I want you to take everything out of the mansion that isn’t nailed down.”
You bite back a smile, nodding. “Do me a favor and jot that out on a napkin. Alfred can notarize it when we get home.”
“Alfred can notarize it tomorrow morning. He has the night off.”
“Why’s that?”
Bruce’s foot hooks around your ankle, tugging a little closer beneath the table. You can’t help but wonder what sort of picture you make to the staff—Bruce, watching you so closely, you, studying your menu as if the waiter’s going to quiz you on it, and your feet hooked together, visible just beneath the end of the tablecloth.
“Because if you’re amenable, our plans don’t end with dinner.”
“What do they end with?”
“That is up to you.”
“Do I get to know my options?”
“I think you know your options.”
“Mm.” You make a show of turning the page of your menu, stalling and trying to weigh your words. “...So is this going to be an evening on the…Earlier side?”
“Not if I can help it.”
“...But if you can’t help it?”
“It’s going to take a lot to get me away from you tonight.”
“You know if you changed one word and omitted another, you would’ve been quoting Toto’s Africa.”
“That wasn’t on purpose.”
“Wasn’t it?” You cast him a glance from beneath your lashes.
“No.”
Your brows tip up, and his stern insistence melts before he shrugs. “Heard it on the way over.”
“Uh-huh.”
“It’s catchy.”
“It’s very popular.”
“I mean it.”
“...I know.”
“You know?”
“I know it’s catchy.”
He laughs softly, and you reach out, curling your hand around his.
“I know you mean it,” You reassure gently. Bruce smiles, raising his hand and pressing a kiss to your knuckles.
“...How long do you think the staff is going to linger over there?” He asks.
“I think they’re afraid to come over.”
“I don’t bite.”
“Sure you do.”
“Not with an audience.”

As im currently dealing with the loss of a loved one, this is my way of coping.
Grief
Grief is an interstellar concept. Almost every species in the galaxy has its own traditions and practices. Humans are no exception, like with most of their emotions their grief is all encompassing. Traditions vary from one culture to another, even people deal with it in different ways.
Kilare as part of a flocking species wonders about the human crewmates when one is lost in a battle. She knew the passed human Ellie very well. Turns out they grieve like a flock, huddled together weeping, almost giving into the urge to join she turns away, expecting this to last for a long time she leaves them be. When she checks next the little unit is drinking and laughing, she can hardly believe it, carefully stepping into the room “i am sorry, may i ask something?” The humans look up some still blotchy from crying, the human she knows as liz nods “you were all weeping just now, but you seem happy? Im confused…” fluffing her feathers Kilare backpedals “not to be insensitive, im just trying to understand your process.” Evan gets up and walks to her “that is okay, you knew Ellie well right? We are talking about her and how we miss her, laughing comes with the tears.” Motioning for the taller feathered woman to join the little group Moira makes eye contact and starts explaining “i know you are from a species that grieves as a group, if i remember correctly mostly weeping and spread ashes on the wind to join in every flight” impressed by the womans knowledge she nods Moira goes on “humans have many different traditions, but every one grieves their own way and time. Mostly in five stages, denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. No two people go through it the same or even through all of them. There is times we grieve as a collective, sometimes you need time and process as an individual. We are now reminiscing Ellie, but i already know im gonna have a cry later and ill never forget her.” Kamare could understand and respect that so she joined in. It soothed her soul.
It was years before she saw human grief again so up close.
When the Ri’ktil attacked they committed what humans called warcrimes without batting any of their eighteen eyes. The horror of the people quickly turned to fear. It was when they blew up a human colony Kimare saw the unified grief. Human governments trying to bargain with the Ri’ktil, families travelling to the floating remnants of the colony trying to find survivors, denying that what had happened killed everyone man, woman and child. A month passed and humanity had grown silent and passive, the Ri’ktal took this as victory and broad cast it to the rest of the species in the galactic counsel. A warning that they would stop at nothing and break them like they broke the humans. Kimare remembered her conversation all those years ago and realised that anger was still coming, she could almost seeing it brewing under the surface.
A month was what it took. A month for humans to start walking upright again. Not only humans on their planets but everyone, on every world and every ship seemed to have shared in the depression. So when the fog cleared the whispering began, then came the talking, when it turned to yelling the Ri’ktil took notice. It was too late for them though. Because humanity started screaming, unified rage became a spearhead of humans all over the galaxy, noone even considered not helping. The tsunami of humans that could not wait to tear their enemy apart surprised them, no matter their way too many eyes, this they did not see coming.
The counsel joined the humans in their fight, and quick as the Ri’ktil had invaded were they beat back aswell. The defeat of their enemies did not dismiss their grief. But instead of on a specie scale individuals began their own process. Four years later Kimare noticed a change, they had made a monument out of the destroyed colony, it seemed to signify an end point. Humans went there to process and make peace, they had accepted what had happened moved past it. But never forgotten.
Humans didn’t forget when they grieved, they remember and accept.

You knew you needed to celebrate your high GPA after graduating from your bachelor degree at some point. But you've been putting it off, feeling like it's too much effort and energy for your introverted self. It's no secret French people are distant towards foreigners, it's been something known worldwide (which is ironic since a big part of their population are people of color coming from different countries from Africa and Asia). But you ignored all the toxic things you heard about France when you unexpectedly got a scholarship into the University of Paris.
Now, four years later, you are still alone. You have made friends in some projects, but right when the project is over, your friendship ends as well. Your mom has messaged you a long paragraph on how proud she is of you, but the loneliness is still wearing you down. You knew you probably looked silly walking down the street, wearing a short V-neck dress with high heels obviously to party, but there is a permanent frown on your face.
When you looked up from your phone, you didn't even need to look for the club. You can feel the music vibrate the ground and there is a huge line at the entrance. You turned off your phone and waited in line, wanting to just drink all day and celebrate by then. You checked on your friend (an international student like you) who promised that she'll be here, but your message was left on delivered for 2 hours.
After 15 minutes of scrolling through your Instagram and 3 missed calls to Liz, it was your turn to show the security your ID. His dark eye bags showed you that he was too exhausted to care, so he took less than a second to glance at your card before returning it to you, and opening the door for you in a frustrated way.
You walked in awkwardly, couples grinding and dancing around you, you felt disgusted - and secretly jealous. The club was dark and had red LED lights, it was filled with large posters of icons and models from the 70s, and of course the playboy magazines of women wearing lingerie. It looked good enough for you to settle down on the bar stool and immediately order a light drink.
While you were sitting there to decide whether you should dance or wait for Liz (you were honestly frustrated at her for ditching you with no explanation), the bartender passed a large drink towards you. You glanced at him with a confused look, “oh sorry, I didn't order this.”
“Yeah I know, it's the man there.” He pointed to the table on your left, to an older man with thin white hair. Your jaw dropped when you looked at him, realizing that he caught you staring.
“Umm… that old man?” You tried your hardest to whisper over the thudding music, trying not to let the creep that is sitting just 2 meters away from you hear what you said. The bartender nodded and walked away to the other side of the bar, making you sigh in annoyance that he didn't bother to even help you out. You slowly pushed the light pink drink away from you, it smelled strong which showed his true intentions, getting you drunk.
You pulled out your phone and texted Liz a quick message, “Liz a man is being weird where are you ☹️☹️?” You scrolled through your gallery to pretend you are doing something and distract yourself from the man on your left, until you are tapped on the shoulder. You froze, quickly turning off your phone as you took a deep breath, pretending that you didn't feel it.
“May I know why you didn't accept the drink, it was really expensive.” you flinched when you felt his breath hit your neck, no way this is happening today. Where the fuck is Liz? You turned around slowly, trying to act calm and collected, “sorry, I didn't want to drink today, I'm just here for someone.”
“I don't see anyone here,” he mockingly glanced around the bar to see the ‘person’ you were waiting for. “I saw you drink just a few minutes ago.”
You closed your eyes for a second and took a deep breath. You glanced at his striking blue eyes and felt your hands starting to shake, you looked away back to the drink he ordered for you and grasped it, taking a small sip just to taste what it is. You knew you were fucked, Liz isn't here and she's probably not going to come, the bartender couldn't give a shit, and this man won't leave you alone. Why was he at a bar on a Wednesday night? Doesn't he have some office job to do tomorrow or is he too old that he's retired now.
The drink tasted sour and tangy, but had a strawberry flavor. The burning of your throat made you cough and your eyes shutting close, it was definitely alcoholic, very alcoholic. You rested the drink on the table and faked-smiled and awkwardly nodded, but your smile disappeared when his hand clutched your arm and pulled you forward, “why don't you dance with me, huh? Wearing this dress for nothing must be a shame.”
You panicked and took a quick scan of your surroundings to see who could help. On the bar table to your left, there were other older men, possibly friends of the weirdo that's now bruising your arm. On the large leather sofas that were placed on the other corner, there was a couple?...a throple? A man was sitting comfortably on it as he crossed his legs on the mini table in front of him, two girls were sprawled over him, one playing with his hair and the other playing with his shirt while she chugs from a beer can…yeah they will be too busy to help.
You took a quick turn to the VIP entrance, seeing a short girl with a Gucci bag waiting to be let in… rich spoiled people are too busy to look around. You swore you never cared about religion until then, when the man tugged you to his chest, your eyes slowly closing as you were holding your tears praying to God to let you out of this misery.
You felt his hands being placed on your hips, as he forcefully tugged your back towards his groin. He pushed you to the crowded area so people can't see your discomfort in your face.
But before he does more than this, a large hand tugged you away from the man, making the man behind you exhale loudly. “Anna! I'm sorry for making you wait, hey let's go…umm do you know him?” you've never heard such a soft yet deep voice like this. Before you even had the chance to look at who grabbed you, her right arm tugged you into her chest, trying to hide you from the stranger. “No, I don't.” You whispered, afraid of making the situation even bigger.
“Seriously? you were waiting for this…” His angry voice and arm pointing at the both of you made you anxiously stare at him. He looked at the woman hugging you up and down with disgust before muttering a ‘nevermind’ and stomping off.
You shakingly held tightly into her, staring at the spot the man was at. “Are you okay?” She let out a soft whisper from above your head. You were shaken at the whole encounter, blocking off what she said until you felt soft taps on your shoulder, making you look up at her.
This was the first opportunity you had to actually see who saved you from this, and she was gorgeous. She had sunglasses placed on the collar of her dress shirt with two of the buttons opened. Why was she even wearing a dress shirt at a club? When you looked up to her face (because she's 5 '9 and the first thing you saw was her tan skin), her hair was short, swooped to the side. Her cheekbones were sharp and her eyes were furrowed worriedly. You quickly separated from her and took two steps away.
“Hey, it's okay.” She took a step forward, opening her hands around her face to show you she doesn't want to hurt you, “are you waiting for someone?”
You looked away from her eyes, the smell of alcohol and sweat is making it difficult for you to think straight -literally. You looked at your phone, finding a new notification, “oh thank God she responded!” You relaxed, until you pressed on it.
“Hey baby!! It's your favorite uncle 😉, just saw your post about graduating. Congratulations! I miss you so much. Maybe one day we can all reunite when you graduate your masters 💪keep working hard!”
You inhaled deeply, turning off your phone and throwing it in your mini purse. You looked at the woman, she looked at you with raised brows waiting for an explanation for your reaction. You rested your hand on your forehead and frustratedly groaned out, “no she fucking ignored my messages.”
Her face turned sour as she looked behind you, probably to the place where the old men were sitting, giving you the chance to look at her face once again. You blushed at her clenched sharp jaw, slight pink cheeks, and the soft lips. When you looked back at her eyes, she was already looking at you.
You internally wanted to kill yourself for looking at her lips, because she definitely caught that. You looked away to her arms, doing everything in your power to not look at her face again. But then you realized glancing at her arms will make the situation even worse. Her arms were athletic and the sleeves were tight around her biceps. How is she this hot?
“You can stay with me, my friends are here.” She softly grasped your hand, pulling you away from the crowded dance floor. “It's fine, I'll just go home.”
“No, come on! It's a secluded area, no one will bother us.” She encouraged you, her hand still in yours. You looked down at your heels, you felt like shit. This whole time at the bar was for you and Liz to celebrate your day and you end up being a charity case for a hot woman. You don't even know why you chose the club, you hated partying anyways. You bit into your lip, one single line going through your head:
I deserve to celebrate my achievements no matter with who. I'm the one who worked hard for this, I need this.
“Okay just… Please don't do this because you feel bad for what happened.” her eyes softened, intertwining your fingers with hers and whispering a soft ‘never’. You felt embarrassed as she was dragging you around the bar to the place her friends are staying at, you didn't want to see anyone’s face so you just looked down at your intertwined hands and hoped you won't collide with anyone. Your hand looked small compared to her large ones as she held into you, feeling her rough skin tightly around yours.
When you realized she stopped, you looked up to where she took you. “Oh no… I'm not going there,” You frowned at her, “VIP? I heard it's expensive here.” You felt guilty that she might spend money on a spot for you, but you were curious on how she makes enough money to be here.
“Don't worry, my work has paid for the night here, I didn’t spend a euro on me or anyone.” She smiled at you, finding it cute how you were worried about her money. She let go of your hand and opened the door slowly, signaling her hand to follow her.
You stood still for a few seconds, feeling exhausted and tired. And unfortunately, you felt gross. You looked down at your dress, remembering what the old man said. It was your favorite, it may not look fancy but you've loved it and waited for a moment to wear it, now you can't even glance at it without feeling down. You glanced at the woman, she had already taken a few steps until she realized you weren't following her, “Do you want to go home? I can order you an Uber?”
This was your chance to actually get to know someone, you've been alone all this time in Paris and Liz was an American student. The woman in front of you seemed like the first French woman that actually tried to befriend you, and she's attractive. Her face softened as she took a few steps towards you again, understanding your silence. “My name is Elisa, what's yours?”
“Y/n.” You didn't know what to do after this so you reached out your hand to handshake her, internally cringing from how awkward you are…no wonder why your love life is as low as your mood today. She giggled and grasped your hand, shaking it aggressively. You looked at her with a confused face and she just winked quickly, “so… y/n why are you here at the club on a Wednesday night?”
“I just graduated so I wanted to celebrate.” You were staring at your held hands, feeling awkward when looking at anyone's eyes, especially élisa's. But when you felt her hand immediately let go of yours and wipe it off with her dress pants, you looked at her face slightly hurt. Her eyes are slightly widened, which made you realize why she let go of your hand, “bachelor degree in physical therapy.”
“Ohh! That's so nice. You know at my job we need a lot of physiotherapists, I like them.” Her body physically relaxed, making you laugh at her panic. The poor woman thought you were some high school student, but you didn't blame her, you never made it clear when you spoke about it.
“Cool… what do you work as?” You asked, a smile appearing in your face. You didn't realize that by a small comment, Elise made your feelings better just as she planned. She let out an open smile when she noticed yours, feeling proud of herself for making you feel better.
“Guess.”
Your smile wiped off your face, “no please I don't like doing this game just say it.”
She laughed, “I'll give you a hint, I wear number 5.”
It took a moment for you to answer because you froze when you heard her laugh, making a stupid grin plaster into your face, “...football?” You dragged the word as you questioned, worried it might be wrong. She nodded with a proud smile.
“Wow, that's so cool I do watch football!... not the women, I don't know where to watch…sorry.”
She laughed, stepping closer and resting her left arm around your shoulder, encouraging you to walk through the dark maroon hallway with her. “It's okay, we're used to it.”
When you looked up from this angle, your attraction worsened. Her side profile was perfect. It took a moment for you to recover from it, “ehm…some girls in my class wanted to be football physios so they could work with Szoboszlai.” You muttered, obviously not knowing what to say. You didn't know if you should wrap your right hand around her waist or just keep it awkwardly limping between the both of you.
She glanced at you and laughed, “and you? Is that what you wanted?”. You looked away, deciding to focus on the dark walnut wood corridor in front of you instead of her eyes. “I don't really like men.”
“Ha! Me too.” Her left arm tapped your shoulder to the beat of the music. Elisa was glad that you weren't into men; she felt like it's finally her time where she can get attention from a woman that isn't a fangirl. She pulled you inside a room, filled with people singing and jumping around.
You felt sick all over again, not knowing Elisa had this many friends. You remembered her speaking about her work paying for this, are all of these people her teammates? The room was built almost like a sunken living room, the leather couches were placed into the ground around the walls with stairs in the side, and two small tables placed in two opposite corners that were filled with drinks and purses. Elisa felt your body turn rigid, she leaned in close to your ear and whispered gently, “They're all nice, I promise.” You turned to look at her, you didn't understand why but you felt at ease around her, maybe because of what she did earlier, but you took a deep breath and calmed down.
She pointed at an empty seat next to a blonde woman, “hey Jackie, this is y/n, she's a physiotherapy graduate.” Jackie turned to look at you and elisa, she smiled brightly and raised her hand to signal you to sit with her. You let out a tight-lipped smile and approached the table to sit. You noticed Jackie looking at your attire and glancing at Elisa with a confused look, but before she said a thing, Elisa interrupted her by saying she needed to go to the bathroom.
Well shit, now you have to do this alone. You stared at Elisa as she was walking out, secretly checking her out and also praying that she’ll come back soon. “Umm… do you work here?”
You turned to look at Jackie, “oh, no. I'm just here to party.”
“Ohh…I thought you were one of the dancers offered here.” She looked at her whiskey and took a sip, clearly not seeing the shock in your face.
You froze as you gave her a confused glance, “oh. You thought I was a stripper?” You glanced down at your dress… It's a short dress, yes, but a dancer? You had no disrespect for them, just felt a little confused. Does Elisa call dancers for a lap dance? Is this where she went to?
“Oh not your dress! It's just that Elisa never spoke about bringing someone here so I assumed. Also, you're really pretty.” She gave you a wink with her compliment.
You gave her a soft smile with a shy ‘thanks’. “Elisa isn't really into those things, that’s why I was kind of confused.” She nudged your arm when you glanced at the exit again, realizing that you were waiting for Elisa. After hearing what Jackie said, you relaxed into your seat and looked at your surroundings.
Everyone seemed drunk except one, her thick black hair was tied in a high ponytail, too engrossed with her phone to really notice anyone. The other players were dancing, some were singing loudly to some song by Aya, an icon in french music from what you noticed in the past four years living here. “May I ask how you know elisa?” Jackie asked.
“Oh we just met here so…” you shrugged, you didn't feel like telling anyone what actually happened. Jackie nodded, taking her purse into her lap and pulling things out, trying to find something in it. After a while of scrolling on tiktok and looking at the girls partying, Elisa came back in, immediately settling down next to you. You looked at her with a smile, glad that she's back, but your smile was wiped off when you saw her frustrated and sweaty state. When she noticed the worry in your eyes she leaned in closer to you, “Do you like this club?”
You were caught off guard from this question and nodded slowly, “good because I want you to come back here,” You were confused, obviously you'll never come here. It doesn't matter how nice and fancy this place is, after that weirdo, you'll never step foot here. “I kicked him out, he's banned from coming here again.”
“Wa- wait what?” You gasped, looking at the door she came back from, expecting to see him standing there. But he wasn't, and even from the small glass window on the door, you can see that his spot is now empty, as well as his friends’.
“I want you to feel safe celebrating your achievements, I know today has probably been shit.” You bit your lip, turning to look at Jackie playing with her now found camera. You couldn't look at Elisa's eyes or else you would cry. You felt her hand softly caress your shoulder, bringing your body closer to hers. “Thank you, I mean… I don't even know what else to say.”
She gave you a gentle smile and turned to look at her teammates singing karaoke now. “No problem, now do you want to sing and dance with them? Or just sit here?”
“I'll just sit here, you can have fun with them.”
She looked back at you, deciding to lean back into the coach and find a comfortable position. “I play for Paris Saint Germain.”
“What! No way…I feel like shit for not watching you play.” You gasped, psg is the biggest team in France. And that's probably because they are loaded with money and can afford the top players, but you wondered how powerful the women's team is.
She laughed, quickly shaking her head, “don't feel that way! I just wanted to tell you. We just got qualified for the quarterfinals of the champions league that's why they're all drunk and shit.” She tilted her head towards a player dancing on the table. You bit your lip trying not to laugh at the poor woman, but when you heard Elisa's cackle, you let out a little laugh.
“Quarterfinals to the champions league… that's great! That's so cool, honestly, you should go and dance with them!” You pushed her towards the women, but she didn't even budge. She winked at you when she saw you try to move her and held your arm down, “Are you actually trying to push me or are you playing around?”
You knew she was joking, she can tell your struggling face when you tried to push her. You glanced at the way she grabbed your forearm, feeling the blush coming around your cheeks. Her muscles tensed beneath her fitted black shirt, elisa has been trying to subtly send you hints without panicking too much. But she knew she needed to do something even more, so she let her hand slowly go from your forearm to your hand, intertwining your fingers with hers. A shy smile broke out in both of your faces, looking up to see her already smiling at you. “Okay…maybe I do want to dance a little.”
You bite your lip and give her a soft nod, indicating that you wanted to dance with her. She grinned brightly and stood up from the couch, delicately pulling you with her. You felt content for the first time, you're finally going to dance and party like how you wanted before you came here in the first place. Elisa pulled you into her body, looking at your eyes to see if you're okay with her wrapping her arms around your waist. You felt speechless so you just nodded and dragged your hands from her forearms all the way to her shoulders, blushing at the feeling of her rough muscles.
Because you were busy trying to mask your flustered state, you didn't notice the panic Elisa was in. Her tightly wrapped hands were shaking and it seemed like she couldn't even glance at your face for three seconds without finding something else to look at. The girls had stopped singing karaoke now, the speaker playing some french afrobeats. “I forgot to tell you, I'm shit at dancing. I was planning on getting too drunk to care.” You admitted with a laugh, elisa tightened her hands around your waist, making your chest flush with hers. “Oh wait until you see me dance.”
“You do realize this song isn’t for slow dancing?” You loved the feeling of her body against yours, but the idea of slow dancing to afrobeats in front of people is confusing you. “Shhh don’t ruin the moment now.” she joked, turning her head around the room, she looked back at you and said, “They’re all too drunk to care.”
You looked around the room, and fortunately she was right. The girls were all dancing, separated into multiple groups and only focusing on them. Even the sober one had stood up and was dancing with the rest. You rested your head on her shoulder, feeling like it doesn’t matter at this point what happens between you. Elisa will probably forget about you, and date an instagram model like every football player does -well… that’s what the male players do at least.
“You tired?” her velvety voice soothed you as she leaned her head on yours. You closed your eyes and hummed in response, not feeling like moving your body. You tried to excuse the exhaustion as the sickness from the old man, but throughout the semester, you have been sleeping 4 hours and only working and studying. And today has been the day you can finally rest.
Elisa moved her hands from your waist to wrap them around your shoulders instead. As much as she was worried about the possible rejection from you, she felt great about you being okay with her physical touches and wanted to enjoy the chance. She can feel your beating heart from the thin dress you’re wearing against her sternum. Elisa’s long fingers were playing with the hem of the dress from your neck, her body slowly rocking as if she’s putting a baby to sleep.
“Thank you,” You whispered, opening your eyes just to see her jaw. “For today. I may not seem happy, but I am really grateful for this, I’m happy.”
“Do you want to go home?”
You stayed silent for a few seconds, before letting out a short breathy laugh, “Is it obvious I don’t like to party?” You didn’t want to offend her, especially after what she did.
“I can call an uber for you, or I can drive you home if you don’t feel safe.” You almost wanted to cry at how thoughtful she is, but you knew you needed some alone time after all of this. Also, the thought of parting ways with Elisa and her completely forgetting about you is eating you alive.
“Thank you, but I’ll feel very guilty if I take you away from the party you should be celebrating.” You let go of the tight embrace you were in, looking at her eyes to let her know how much you meant it. She sighed and nodded with a small hidden frown in her face. Elisa felt like a child attached to a toy, she was worried to let you go and never find you again. Now that she kicked the assaulters out, she hoped you’d come to the club more often.
“Okay, I’ll walk you out.” She held your hand and walked you out of the VIP entrance. The smell of sweat and alcohol hit you in the face, the club is even busier now since it was around 10 at night. Elisa pulled you to her body, putting her arm around your shoulder protectively in case someone does a thing to you. Once you reached the closest exit, she pushed the heavy door and let you go out.
“Ehm… Can I have your phone number?” Elisa suddenly blurted, she wasn’t ready to say goodbye, so she said the lamest thing she thought, “Just to make sure you went home safe…you never know what can happen.”
When Elisa asked that question, your heart started beating faster, your worry about losing her is now out of your head, feeling glad that she wanted to contact you. But after her explanation, you sighed in disappointment, she’s probably not interested in you, she wants to know if you went home safe only.
“Yeah, okay.” You opened your hand, waiting for her to hand you her phone. She pulled out her phone from her front pocket, and passed it to you quickly. Her palms were sweaty from anxiousness, and she hoped her sweat wasn’t all over the phone. She knew she fucked up, she could’ve told you the truth but instead she acted like some sick teenager, and it made her even more annoyed with herself when she saw the excitement in your face disappear like fog. She wanted you to know she’s interested in you. You typed your phone number quickly, before giving it back to her with a tight smile.
“Bye-Bye,” You stepped back, still facing her. “Again, thank you for today.” You gave her a small wave, and then turned and walked your way back home. She was invading your thoughts, her face, her smile, her deep yet delicate voice, her body, and the fact that she’s a professional player that can get anyone she wants.
Once you reached home, you looked at your phone notifications, there were none. 0 from Liz, and 0 from Elisa. You cussed yourself, why would she even bother to text you? She is the hottest woman you’ve ever seen, you probably look like charity work next to her exes. You boiled water for instant noodles, feeling too low to even worry about making dinner. After eating the soggy cheap noodles, you turned on the bathtub faucet and added some oils to calm you down and distract you from Elisa. You contemplated on searching up her name and see what google says about her, but you forced yourself to not even look up a picture of her. She clearly doesn’t care about you, why would you care about her?
After the 30 minute depressing bath, you plopped into the bed, not bothering to put the blanket over you. You suddenly heard a notification ding from your phone. Closing your eyes tightly, you swore that if it's Liz you'll run to her house barefoot to yell at her. When you heard another ding, you opened your eyes slowly and reached out for your bedside table.
[Unknown number]
I'm sorry
I was acting like a kid around u I wanted to ask you out but I got too shy
Can I take you to dinner one day?
You bit into your lip harshly, trying so hard to suppress your blush. You thought about it for a second, you weren't mad because she couldn't ask you out in front of you. You couldn't do it either, and you were also flattered to the thought of her being too shy in front of you. It felt as though she was the confident one there. It didn't matter anyways, what mattered is that you wanted to be hers. And if this date is the first step, you'll take it.
[You]
Okay
Only if I can go and watch you play on the quarterfinals
[Elisa ⚽️]
Really??
YES OF COURSE
Only with my jersey 😉
You turned off your phone and banged your head into the pillow, grabbing your phone again to send her a quick message.
[You]
Of course
I'm going to sleep rn
Good night 💞
[Elisa ⚽️]
Good night 😴
You turned off your phone and closed your eyes, immediately sleeping from the exhaustion of the day.
[Elisa⚽️]
The dress looked perfect on you.

Act of Contrition
James Patrick March x Virgin! Reader.
Inspired by a post by @ahsjpm
On Halloween night, you’re alone as James is participating in Devils night. As a Christian, you’re often modest and found in prayer. But James habits inspire you to engage in your deepest fantasies.
WARNINGS! Porn with little plot. Virgin! Reader. Violence! Murder! Oral! Male and female recieving! Bondage! Light degrading! Dom! Reader. Sub! James. Brief PnV! Use of religion disrespectfully lol.
Your fingers were locked together as your nostrils inhaled the warm meal in front of you. Your prayers typically were kept short during dinner time, as you were eager to dive in but tonight you needed the strength. It was Halloween. You opened your eyes, resisting the urge to scratch at your lash line. You didn’t want to ruin your makeup.
“You still pray? Honey, you’re sleeping with a ghost. If there’s a God, I think he forgot about this place.” Sally taunted you.
Your partner, James Patrick March wasn’t with you tonight. Opting you to sit at one of the tables in the main lobby of the Cortez. The spirits of this building kept you company whenever James was away and they were the only company he somewhat trusted with you. Tonight was the infamous Devils night along with the celebration of the holiday.
You hadn’t been with James very long. Sally was incorrect on your intimate status with him but you didn’t dare correct her. James explained that the ghosts of past murderers dined with him on this occasion and frankly, you were too afraid to participate.
He chastised you only briefly before he understood. It was something you cherished about him. He tried his best to accommodate your apprehensions. You toyed with the fork after you took a bite. You almost ordered a alcohol beverage but often you and James would enjoy a night cap.
You dressed up. It was primarily a joke since your modest dressing drew criticism from others. Knee high fishnet stockings up your thicker thighs, wider than a majority of women. A black hip length coat, a low cut white shirt that accentuated your full breasts. A wide black cross in the center. Your hair was styled last minute. Your makeup was dark and sultry as you gingerly tried to eat without smudging your lipstick.
Your high heels clicked together as you shifted in your chair.
“Sally, be easy on the girl. Let her enjoy her faith in peace.” Liz interjected but you knew she was joking. They sat adjacent to you. You didn’t blame them for mocking your beliefs given their current states as ghosts but James never ridiculed you.
Before sleeping, you lowered yourself to your knees and prayed for the safety of yourself and your family. The first night when James saw you, you expected him to laugh but instead, he gave you a warm smile and said, “I’ll give you a moment of privacy, my dear.”
A sensation of tugging brought your attention back to the present. You looked up, Sally was toying with the chain of your wrap around cross bracelet. Her dark lipstick was smudged from drinking but she gave you a quick smile anyway. She pulled out her phone, her lifeline. “Do you mind?”
You were camera shy by nature but Sally had few pleasures. You nodded. “Yes. Do you want to take a picture of my bracelet or my whole costume?”
“Your whole outfit. Everyone will want to see a slutty nun.” You huffed but obliged.
You modeled for her and she finally broke out into a pleased grin. She stepped away from you, typing away and you smooth your shirt. You weren’t hungry anymore, too preoccupied with James activity. Could you do it? Bypass your fears and join him? You missed him and his affectionate gestures.
You straightened your shoulders with a resolution. “Don’t worry about your plate, I’ll get it.” Your head snapped towards Liz’s direction. As if she was reading your mind.
You could do this. You could be brave. James wouldn’t let anyone hurt you. And you could run quickly if you needed.
The hallways felt closed in, daunting like a countdown as you trailed toward James room. You quieted your breathing to somehow conceal your vulnerability. With the dimmed lights, it was difficult to keep steady in your heels as you narrowed in towards his door. Your hand wrapped around the handle, a quiet noise of scraping came as your bracelet scratched the gold.
Pushing the door, you blinked as the brighter light peeked at you as you stepped inside.
You opened your mouth to greet James but you froze. Several other men were at the table but they weren’t sitting. Instead, they stood and started cheering. Wildly clapping and chanting, “Ten commandments killer!” Your hand went to your mouth.
James held a man by his hair with one hand and his other continuously rammed his long blade all over his torso. His knife plunged deep and with purpose. Your teeth chattered as he yanked it free and slit it across his throat. Blood coated his hands, danced on his normally immaculate suit and even splattered on his face. His smile was wicked and he started to laugh. Proudly and heartily from his chest.
“James,” You whispered in fear. It wasn’t loud enough to be heard but somehow another presence caught his attention and he met your terrorized stare.
James smile immediately dropped and he released his victim. “Darling-“ He tried to speak in a alarmingly gentle tone in contrast to his animalistic action.
You spun around on your heels and ran out. You didn’t take off your shoes so you couldn’t sprint but the surrounding rooms blurred together. Across the hallway was a balcony and you cling to the rails. Your fingers tighten around the white bars and you pant. He slaughtered again. Brutally. Your bravery was misplaced. You should have stayed downstairs.
But this small moment of terror could never erase your feelings for him.
You closed the bedroom door behind you after an hour passed. You pressed your back against the wood. You needed the time to think. Consider how to approach James with your feelings. You prayed. Begged God to give you clarity and strength. Sitting on the bed, you contemplated taking off your costume, Halloween was nearly over now. You weren’t in the mood to go out and celebrate. You didn’t want to be without him.
But he lied to you. He promised he wouldn’t hurt anyone again.
He needs to endure the consequences.
Standing, you intended to go the bathroom and wash off your makeup when a voice caught your attention.
“Y/n, my love.” James’s eyes were glazed over with regret as you faced him.
He engulfed your hands and pulled you close to him. His lips pressed against your neck with urgency, “Darling, you weren’t supposed to see this. I know you disapprove.” You stepped away from him and set your mouth.
“James. I just wanted to be with you tonight. But you insist on traditions. Of course I want to honor this but to walk in on such a thing, it’s madness.” You went to step away from him but he rushed around. Gripping your shoulders.
“My dear, I can’t be in ill standing with you. Tell me what I can do. Tell me how to earn your forgiveness.” You shook your head, crossing your arms but something…tightened in you. At the account of his pleas.
James Patrick March wasn’t one to ask for forgiveness. He didn’t show remorse. And he never showed a shred of submission. Being a partner to a ghost wasn’t morally clear according to Christianity. You couldn’t hold him to the same standards as a human. In his past, he was a killer. Despite his promises that he grew tired of murder, you couldn’t remove the gleeful grin across his face as he slashed a man’s throat from your mind.
James enjoyed the applause. It seemed to drive him. Attention. Praise. Devotion. You always knew once you gave into him, that he would pry every ounce of worship from you.
You would offer it. Without a single thought of resistance.
He lowered himself down, fingers ghosting over your clothes as he settled on his knees before you. His wide palms cupped your thighs and his black gaze torturously raked over your stockings. “You look irresistible, my little mouse. Powerful. Whatever you want, I’ll do it. I am your slave, y/n. Take me however you wish.”
Your bracelet covered hand cupped his cheek, stroking his skin with your thumb. A darkness clouded you, deep and hungry urges clawed inside you like a disease. You couldn’t resist anymore. He willing to abide every command.
Fuck it.
“James, you need to cleanse your conscience. Confess to me. Tell me how wrong it was.” You lifted your chin and his brows raised. A sign of hope.
“This is a religious practice, yes? Do you want me to pray, my love? I will for you.”
“Tell me how bad you were. How could you disobey me?” Your voice was lower, husky and it caused him to shiver.
“I shouldn’t have. I-I don’t want you to be cross with me. My only desire is to see you happy. Perhaps I became too carried away. Determined to gain the respect of my fellow man.”
“You wanted their attention. You enjoyed that man bleeding in front of you. Oh, James. That’s so sad…how pathetic could you be?” His hands clung to your hips.
“Yes, pathetic-“ You clutched his chin in your hand, hard enough that his eyes widened.
“Beg. Beg God for forgiveness. If you really meant what you said about making me happy.”
He was resisting inwardly, you knew that. But you counted on his love for you to override it. He tilted his head down and started whispering.
“Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you-“ You stepped out of his embrace and you released him.
“I said pray to God, James. That’s not correct.” James stumbled and tried to grab your arm.
“I’m doing what you asked.”
“I am your God.”
The silence echoed after your direction but James appeared to be stunned. His breathing was heavier as he slowly scanned your heels, legs, stomach and now your breasts. “Darling, if you make me scream your name, would that count as praying?” He asked with a growing smirk.
You beckoned him with a finger. “Crawl to me, James. Show me how repentant you are.” He was fast to oblige. His large hands held his weight as he moved and he settled on the back of his calves when he reached you.
James touched his palms together, staring up at you. “Please forgive me, y/n. I beg you. I promise I’ll listen. I promise I will never disobey you. And I promise I will get on my knees everyday if you allow me to touch you.”
Your mouth curved in a satisfied smile. “Was that so hard? But I’m afraid this is just the beginning. I want you to go to the bed.”
He practically jumped to his feet and prowled to the bed. You trailed after him, flicking the cross between your fingers as a thrill ignited in your bones. It was obscene to use Gods name in vain like this. To pretend you were the highest power. But it was too delicious to see such a dark man beg and not give into your temptation. You would just have to go to church more often after tonight.
You took ahold of his suspenders and yanked him close. Chest to chest. “You’ll do anything?” You proposed.
“Of course, kitten. I could never disobey my God.”
You smashed your lips against his, not giving a shit about your lipstick. Your arms encircled his broad shoulders and his hands captured your middle, hips and then they cupped your ass. He moaned as you bit his lower lip and pulled. His tongue swept your mouth and you met it with your own. He lifted you by your thighs, his strength evident by the way he made your curvy body feel weightless.
He fell back on the bed and you straddled him. James ripped away from the kiss, red product smeared on his mouth. He latched onto your skirt, hiking it over your thighs and his fingers brushed against the growing wet spot of your underwear. You swallowed and shook your head. Normally, you were too insecure to entertain this. A part of you wanted to run away and hide. But you pushed back those thoughts and wildly took off your underwear.
As if reading your mind, James assisted in sliding you higher until you were above his face. Tearing off your jacket, James shoved you down, his tongue licking a stripe. You nearly screamed at the foreign contact. He circled your clit before laying his tongue flat. Your hands braced on his chest as you rolled your pelvis against the pace of his mouth. His lips suckled your clit and he gently let his teeth give it a tug.
He moaned, a pretty sound that you needed more of. “Fuck,” he said in-between lapping your pussy. He didn’t swear often so you knew this was a special occasion. You continued humping his face as a rush of heat flushed your face and your entrance tightened. You were close.
He started to shift, “I need you underneath me. I need to feel you cum while I’m fucking you.”
You maneuvered yourself down enough so he could talk as you gripped his jaw. “Good boys take what I give them. If you’re not, I’ll have to walk away-“ you didn’t finish as James jerked you back into place. Getting the point.
He dipped his tongue inside before it resumed working over the sensitive bud in the center and you stilled as you reached your peak. You shook as you chased your high. You moved off of his face and his chin was wet but he didn’t wipe it off. “Darling, you are ravishing. I could spend an eternity between your legs if you allowed me.”
A lightening burst of bravery surged you onto your own knees. Your heels giving you a modest boost as you practically ripped off James trousers and threw them across the room. Pausing, your eyes took in his raised dick in the confines of his boxers. He supported himself on his elbows as you licked your lips.
“If you behave yourself, then maybe I’ll let you fuck me. Don’t cum unless I say you can.”
You pulled down his underwear, feeling the heat rise from him as his swollen, heavy cock hung as it leaked precum. You were intimidated by his size but you refused to let him see fear.
Sticking out your tongue, you licked his tip before going along the side. James grunted as you wrapped your hand around the base, taking it into your mouth. He shuddered as you bobbed your head up and down as you went further, pumping him at the same time.
“That’s-thats not fair, mouse-“ He whispered harshly and you tried not to smirk.
He started thrusted into your mouth, hitting the back of your throat but you breathed through your nose to keep from gagging. Hollowing your cheeks, you sucked faster and he clenched his fists.
“Y/n, please. I’m going to cum-this is-“ You shook your head causing James’s head to jerk back.
A creamy liquid shot down in your mouth and you removed yourself. He chanted your name and God as you watched with a quirked eyebrow.
James lifted up, “Y/n. Surely you know that I was never going to win that game. Please, allow me to take you. I promise I will-“
“Another promise, James? I meant what I said. Now, I’m going to have to punish you.” Standing, you grabbed his belt and wrestled his arms down, pinning his wrists together. You bound them tightly and gently smacked his face. “You’re not allowed to touch me. If you break free, I’ll leave you here. Do you understand?”
James moved his head in a short nod.
“Do you understand, James? Is that anyway to answer me?” You taunted.
“Yes, I understand.” He ground through his teeth. You knew the submission was killing him
You balanced on your knees before grabbing his dick. You lined it up with your pussy and sank down. James whimpered, actually whimpered and you groaned from pleasure. And a small stretch of pain. You felt full but the hilt of his pelvis hit your clit.
You rocked your hips, your eyes fighting to stay open from James meeting your pace. His hands, despite being tied, attempted to touch you.
“James. I told you to keep your hands down.” You scolded with a half serious tone. James was looking at you with fuck me eyes as you used him.
You lifted off him, taking your discarded coat and wiping your inner thighs.
“Darling, I’m sorry. No, please. Please allow me to make you finish. My pet, I don’t know what’s gotten ahold of me. I don’t know why I can’t seem to listen-“
“Who said I was done with you?” You questioned and his mouth fell. You had reached for his cane. Holding it across your body, you unsheathed the hidden knife. It was still covered in blood. Half naked, you still had your heels on.
“James. I suggest you start praying again.”

So yesterday someone requested a swap AU fic with Baxter as the boy who moved across the street, Cove as his friend you met at 13 and Derek as the guy who rented the condo for the summer. I promptly lost my mind, so here is more.
This is the part in Step 3 when everyone goes to the restaurant and Cove tells everyone he's going to get an apartment and he and MC have a moment, except Baxter style.
"Tell your boyfriend to stop fixing his hair and come on, I'm hungry," Liz said impatiently.
"He's not my boyfriend and he has his process," you replied, looking across the street at your best friend's house.
You, Liz, your moms and Lee were all outside, waiting to go to dinner. Baxter had been invited as well, but it seemed he was running a bit late.
As you were pulling out your phone to text him, he finally appeared. He had a troubled expression, but once he saw you and your family already assembled by your mom's car he turned on a practiced smile and jogged over.
"My apologies," he said, coming to a stop by your side. "I won't hold us up any further. Shall we?"
He held his arm up for you to take and Liz snorted, then said, "We'll meet you there."
Baxter, for all his eccentricities that you'd come to know so well in then ten years you'd been friends, fancied himself a bit of a gentleman. He always offered you his arm when walking anywhere, and you always accepted. You'd had a crush on him for years but had always been too nervous to tell him, so being close to him in any capacity was nice.
Tonight felt a bit different though. Usually he gave off a warmth when you were together, a sort of easygoing gentleness that you'd always noticed was reserved only for you, but now he was tense. As you settled in the passenger seat of his car, ready to follow your family to the restaurant, you saw that his shoulders were tense, and his jaw clenched. He wouldn't look at you.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing," he said a little too quickly as he pulled out onto the street. You kept looking at him, and eventually he let out a sigh.
"Family stuff again?" you asked.
"It's miserable there," he responded, keeping his voice low as he always did when he talked about his parents. Being vulnerable was difficult for him, but he was able to manage it with you.
"I'm sorry," you told him, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"It's only gotten worse since I've turned 18," he continued. "It's like all the expectations they've placed on me my entire life should have suddenly manifested as soon as I became an adult, and because they haven't, and they won't, they're taking it out on me."
Baxter's voice got even lower, and there was a pain to it as he added, "It's unbearable."
You tried to comfort him as best you could, but the drive to the tropical place was a short one, and soon he was pulling into a parking space beside your parents. He took a breath, shot you another fake smile, then got out.
After you'd been seated and your orders had been taken, Baxter cleared his throat. The attention turned to him, and he began speaking.
"I have a bit of an announcement," he began. "I've been keeping it to myself until all the details were hammered out, but now I can share: I'll be headed east to start college in the fall. Virginia, to be precise. For a degree in business."
Your mothers were quick to congratulate him -- he'd become like a third child to them, so it was natural they'd be proud. Lee clapped her hands together, and Liz even joined in, but you just stared at him in shock.
You'd talked about your future plans, of course, and you knew Baxter was going to college but you assumed it would be somewhere nearby. Moving across the country was something someone would discuss with their best friend, but he'd kept you completely in the dark. It hurt.
Baxter answered your family's questions and thanked them for their support, but then he turned to you. You shared a look for a moment.
"If you'll excuse me, I believe I'd like to stretch my legs for just a moment before dinner arrives," he said, standing. He looked down to you, and held out his arm. "Care to join me?"
Without a word, you took his arm once again and followed him to the entrance.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner," he said quietly, leaning in to speak to you. "If I'm being honest, I didn't know how."
"So you thought it would have been best to tell me like this? When do you even leave, in a month?"
"Three weeks," he corrected. You scoffed.
"I'm sorry," he repeated, grasping your hands and pulling them up to his chest. "I truly am. If there was a way I could stay, I would, and I have to believe you know that. I don't want to leave you, I need to leave them."
His parents. That was the reason for the cross-country move. He was running away.
There was something about his closeness, his hands gripping yours close to his heart that became too much. You loved him, and he was leaving. And as long as his parents lived in the area, you doubted he'd ever want to come back.
"I have to go," you said, pulling your hands back. He began to say something, but you raised your hand to stop him, then left the restaurant.
You felt tears welling up in your eyes and decided to take a seat in your mom's car to have a moment to yourself. You unlocked the back door with a shaky hand and climbed in, then let everything out.
Baxter had been there for over half your life at this point. His presence was a constant, something you could always count on. You'd spent countless days together, and so many nights after he started sneaking in your window for impromptu sleepovers when he couldn't stand being in his own house anymore. You couldn't imagine things being so different.
After a bit, you steadied your breath and wiped your face. When you felt steady enough, you moved to get out, but then you spotted a flash of black and white illuminated by a streetlight.
There was Baxter, leaning against the trunk of his car, waiting for you.
You couldn't help but smile, and at that moment he turned back and caught your eye. He gave a cautious smile back, then tapped on the window.
"Care for some company?" he asked when you opened the door.
And so he crawled in the backseat with you, and before you could say anything, he had his arms around you, pulling you close to his chest. He laid a kiss on top of your head, then rested his cheek there.
"I'm not going to be gone for good," he told you. "And honestly I'm a little ashamed of myself if I've let you believe you could get rid of me this easily."
"You're going to be on the other side of the continent, Baxter."
"I'll visit you. You'll visit me. We'll have summer breaks." He kissed your head again and pulled you even closer, then said, "It's four years, darling. You're stuck with me for a lifetime."
You snuggled into him, basking in his affection. He wasn't always this sweet, finding it more comfortable to joke and tease, but in moments like these, it was harder not to fall more deeply in love with him.
A few more minutes passed in comfortable silence, then you told him that you'd better get back to the restaurant. He agreed, and you stepped out of the car. Just before you got to the door, he stopped and turned to face you.
"There is one more thing I feel the need to say," he started. "Something I should have told you long ago."
Taking a look at his expression, you got nervous. He was about to tell you something serious. His expression was hard to read, but when you saw his eyes dart down to your lips, you stopped him.
"We better get going," you said, stepping toward the doors. "Maybe we can talk about this another time."
Baxter looked at you a moment longer, swallowed, then smiled.
"Yes. Another time."

they got no idea about me and you
Summary: "When Shauna got her license and started picking Jackie up for school it seemed easy enough to just bum a ride from her: you were, after all, Jackie's neighbor. You resented Jackie at first for all the time you and Shauna spent waiting in the car for her, but you've really started to treasure these secret moments spent between the two of you."
A/N: nothing like super nsfw but it's not strictly sfw either
You can't help the grin that crosses your face the second you hear her car coming to a stop outside of Jackie Taylor's, your neighbor's, house. Truthfully you could hear it coming a long way down the road, but like always Shauna refuses to admit that anything could be wrong with Kevin Car-nold himself– itself? You were never quite sure how naming your car worked.
You impatiently wait a minute or two before you throw your bag over your shoulder and try not to rush your way out of the door. She's staring down at her journal as she writes, so you take the time to admire her on the walk down your driveway. She looks good today, not that she doesn't always look good, but there's something about the way her hair looks when it's down that draws you in.
There's just a hint of a frown on her face as she writes, but you're more than used to Shauna Shipman's particular brand of moodiness that you can't help but view it in an affectionate light. You can appreciate what the journal does for your otherwise emotionally unavailable girlfriend– God knows she'd explode without it. Still, you're almost embarrassed at having to compete with a pen and paper for Shauna's attention.
It feels strange to be jealous of an inanimate object, but sometimes you find yourself wishing that Shauna would hold on as tightly to you as she does to her journal even if you know it's not an entirely fair comparison. You try to shake the thought from your head as you pop the handle open.
Shauna glances up at the rearview mirror as the door opens, her hand never stilling as she looks back to her journal with a small smile. You slide into the seat directly behind her, haphazardly letting your bag fall onto the floorboards. Shauna hums in greeting as the angsty sounds of Liz Phair play quietly from the stereo.
I can feel it in my bones, I'm gonna spend another year alone. Fuck and run, fuck and run.
“Fuck and run?” You quote, grinning as Shauna finally looks up from her notebook with a vaguely amused look. She finally closes her journal and places it lazily on the passenger seat as she turns to face you.
“Is that what you do?” You ask wryly, leaning forward against the back of her seat. Shauna sputters slightly, glancing back and forth between you and the stereo. There's a light flush to her cheeks, not embarrassment so much as a hint of shyness.
“You player,” You accuse lightly. Shauna huffs a laugh as she gives you a wry look.
“Oh, you know me,” She says, rolling her eyes. As much as Shauna likes to poke fun at others she never seems to like it nearly as much when it is turned on her. You think it's probably because of how easy it is to make her flush, whether with anger or with embarrassment.
“You dog,” You murmur teasingly against her ear, pressing a quick kiss against her cheek as you scoot back against the passenger side window laughing. Her eyes follow your movements, almost as if she can't bear to tear her eyes away. She's got what you've termed ‘the look’ on her face– eyes narrowing with an intense expression on her face as she glances around, head tilted in consideration– signifying she's about to do something risky or stupid. Shauna stares up at Jackie's house for a long moment before suddenly pulling herself over the center console and into your lap.
She misjudges the distance and ends up slamming you against the door, making you groan in pain as your head smacks against the window. “Shit,” Shauna mutters, hand sliding to the back of your head as she starts feeling for damage. You gently grab her by the wrists and pull her hands away, wincing at the way her fingers press against what you’re sure is going to be a nasty bruise. She gives you an apologetic look and a murmured apology that you wave off as you rest your hands on her hips.
“Not too good at the running part, though,” You say, still referencing the song she’s left on. Shauna smirks, surely about to address the first part of that particular lyric before she gives you a confused look.
“My dad heard you leaving,” You comment wryly. Shauna's eyes widen as a sudden look of unease crosses her face, she looks over at your house with a level of apprehension you've never seen directed at a building. You'd think it was haunted by the look on her face. She slaps lightly at your shoulder as you start snickering.
“Don’t laugh,” She hisses, still sounding a little panicked.
“Mm, no. Don't worry. For better or worse my dad thought it was next door.” You say, making Shauna relax instantly. She leans forward and buries her head in your shoulder, her arms coming up to wrap around your shoulders and she breathes in the scent of your cologne.
“What do you mean for worse?” She asks after a moment, making you shiver at the feeling of her breath against your neck.
“He thought you were That damn Sadecki boy,” You quote wryly. Shauna winces.
“I was that loud?” She asks, embarrassed at the comparison. You laugh softly, caressing your thumbs across her hips.
“You’re very pretty,” You offer, not wanting to keep kicking her while she was down. She muffles a laugh into your neck before pulling back, tilting her head down as she gives you a knowing look.
“Oh, Is that right?” Shauna asks smugly, trailing her hand across your face to cup your chin as she tilts your head up to look you in the eyes.
“Prettiest girl I've ever seen. Gorgeous. Breathtaking. Beautiful–”
“Good at sneaking out your window?” Shauna interrupts, fully relaxing on your lap to rest all of her weight on you as she leans forward till your lips are almost touching. You try to lean forward to close the distance between you, but Shauna gently holds your head back. “Good at sneaking out of your window?” She repeats slowly, making it all too clear she's not going to let you kiss her till you say what she wants.
You can't help but roll your eyes as you sigh fondly. She's so fucking stubborn. “So good at sneaking out of my window. The best, even. I don't think there's been a better window climber outer in the history of–”
She interrupts you once again as she finally closes the distance between you to give you your hard-earned kiss. You can feel her smile against you and it only makes you more enthusiastic. Shauna was intense in everything she did, and smile or not, this was no different.
She's so easy to get lost in, every movement practiced and deliberate. You always lose track of time wrapped up in her, whether minutes or hours have passed you have no idea. Not that you were particularly concerned with the concept, honestly you weren't sure if you could remember your own name if asked.
Shauna finally pulls away as the need to breathe overwhelms her, laughing breathlessly as you try to follow her with a noise of displeasure. You move your way to her neck as she catches her breath, her hand sliding into your hair as you bite down.
The noise she makes in response is far too loud for a public setting, but neither of you seems to care as Shauna's hips rock in response. She's verging on a whine as you roll the skin between your teeth, fist clenching around your hair as she murmurs praises.
She starts grinding down in earnest as you pull away with a wet pop, gently soothing at the teeth marks you've left behind. You'll be damned if you're letting her leave this car without a mark on her. She definitely isn't complaining, nearly rocking the car with her enthusiasm. She moans breathily, hand tightening in your hair as she tugs you away.
There's a hungry look on her face, your saliva on her neck nearly glistening in the morning light. She starts to speak when her eyes suddenly go wide with panic as she sees something over your shoulder. “Shit,” She panics, scrambling away and back over the center console. You turn back in shock only to catch Jeff Sadecki running across the lawn.
Shauna slides back into the driver's seat about as gracefully as she slid out of it; Which is, to say, not at all. She slams into the horn on the way down, making you jump in surprise as you whirl your head around to stare at her in surprise. She seems mortified as she meets your gaze, quickly facing forward as she starts adjusting the way her flannel lays on her neck.
You groan in irritation as you quickly fix your rumpled clothes, glancing out the window as Jackie marches down the lawn with a frown on her face. Shauna goes scrambling to move her journal out of the passenger seat, tossing it haphazardly towards you. You set it down on the driver's side seat just as Jackie slides gracefully into the car.
Jackie looks back and forth between the two of you suspiciously but seems to shake it off and she turns fully towards Shauna. “You didn't have to honk at me,” She says in a whiney voice. “I was coming.”
“Were you, though?” You joke, referencing Jeff's hasty exit. Jackie sputters, whirling around to face you as her face flushes bright red.
“Shut up,” Jackie says finally, unable to come up with a decent response as she crosses her arms and stares moodily out of the window. You catch sight of her pouty expression in the reflection and have to stifle the urge to laugh. Out of the corner of your eye, you can see Shauna grinning at you as she glances into the rearview mirror, but she pulls the car down the street without another word.
You were content to lean your head against the window and listen absentmindedly as they spoke. You would never understand how Jackie managed to be so perky and upbeat this early in the morning. You interjected a comment every once in a while when Shauna would glance up at her rearview mirror at you, but you mostly thought about Shauna. You found yourself doing this more and more lately, it was like she’d taken over your entire existence. You weren’t exactly complaining, but it was still a strange thing to come to terms with.
You’re suddenly pulled out of your thoughts at the sound of Jackie’s door slamming closed. You quickly extract yourself from the car, shutting the door much more gently than Jackie did: Shauna babied the hell out of this car, for some unknown reason. There’s a slightly pleased expression on Shauna’s face as she watches, so you figure it was probably the right move. You give her a knowing smile as you wave your hand in goodbye, leaving Shauna in Jackie’s clutches as you go to find your own friends.
“Wait! Hold on,” Shauna calls out, abandoning Jackie for a moment to follow after you. You stop and turn around, watching as she shifts her bag to one shoulder as she looks through it. She pulls out a small object, carefully hiding it as she hands it to you. You glance down at it quickly, respecting Shauna's clear wish for nonchalance but can't help the way your face lights up at the sight of the tape.
“Did you– did you make me a mixtape?” You ask, almost reverent as you resist the urge to stare at it.
“Is it lame?” Shauna asks embarrassedly, fiddling with the zipper on her bag as she swiftly closes it again. “I just… was thinking of you when listening to them, or whatever…” She trails off awkwardly, shoes scuffing the ground as she tries to decide whether she regrets giving it to you or not.
“No, no,” You rush to reassure her, affection clear on your face. “I love it. I can't wait to listen to it.” Shauna grins widely in relief, her brown eyes practically shining with joy. “I wish I could kiss you right now,” You admit quietly. Shauna starts to speak but is quickly interrupted by Jackie.
“Shauna,” Jackie calls out impatiently, verging on a whine. “Come on!” You and Shauna share an amused look before she turns and walks off after Jackie. You watch the two of them leave with barely repressed awe before finally turning and walking off.

Quiet - Stranger Things - Steddie - G
Rating: G | cw: none | tags: D&D, future fic, Corroded Coffin made it, Eddie lives, fluff
Prompt: Love is sitting in comfortable silence together doing their own thing (@steddieasitgoes)
A/N: Written for @steddielovemonth day 6. I love the idea of Corroded Coffin being a big name, but still being nerds at heart, so this is what I went with.
Also on AO3 | All My Other Stranger Things Fic
Quiet: But Far From Idle
Eddie tapped his pen against his lips as he tried to come up with a dastardly trap for the D&D campaign he was writing. He could use the laptop, but he’s old school and he likes to write things out by hand. It gave him a chance to doodle at the same time.
The fact D&D had made Corroded Coffin relevant to the youth of today rather than finding them via their music was ironic, but he was not arguing with it. It had been Steve’s idea to record one of the band’s campaign sessions and put it on YouTube with clips on TikTok because D&D had become popular again. The band were still touring, still releasing albums, but the social media thing had brought in a whole new generation of fans.
Their new album was nearly ready for release, so Eddie was writing a campaign that incorporated some of the themes from it. Part fun, part advertising. Their record company had been thrilled by the extra attention and had even planned time into their upcoming tour for filmed D&D nights to keep the fans happy. Writing D&D campaigns was now almost as important as writing new music.
Eddie was having a ball.
He glanced over to where Steve had the other end of their dining room table with various large pieces of paper spread everywhere. Steve had a pink hairband pushing his silver-fox hair back to keep it out of his face and his glasses were perched on the edge of his nose. There was a red pen behind his ear and a green one in his hand, and his tongue was poking between his lips as he concentrated.
It was all utterly adorable.
While Eddie planned fantasy, Steve was going over venue security for the beginning of the tour. Steve took the band’s security very seriously. They had a professional team these days to handle everything, and Steve let them do their jobs, but he always insisted on checking. Gone were the days when their only security was Steve in the corner with his baseball bat. However, Steve couldn’t let it go. It was a hang-up from the Upside Down days when they had had no one to rely on but themselves.
They had both almost died, so Eddie could very much understand Steve’s need to make sure those around him were safe.
Steve liked to go old school with paper and a pen as well, and from the looks of it he had found quite a few things wrong with at least one of the venues. The printed plan was covered in red notes. Eddie smiled to himself, knowing that nothing would ever get past Steve.
“Need anything, Sweetheart?” he asked as Steve changed pens while glaring at the venue plan right in front of him.
His husband looked up, blinked, and then smiled.
“No, I’m good, thanks,” Steve said. “How’s the campaign going?”
“They will not know what hit them,” Eddie replied with his best evil grin.
“They never do,” Steve said, glancing back down at the sheet of paper he was currently studying. “You should have a t-shirt made with the old hell-fire logo to make sure everyone knows you’re a demon,” he added as he circled something in red.
Eddie laughed as he lost his husband back to his self-appointed task. He took out his phone and made a quick note to ask Liz, his assistant, about t-shirts before focussing down on his notes again. Steve always had great ideas. It was one of the many reasons Eddie loved him with all his heart. He counted himself one of the luckiest guys on the planet as he went back to quietly planning how to put his best friends into mortal peril.

Call My Name (Nuada x Reader)
Tumblr media
Nuada Silverlance (Hellboy) x Reader
TW: Some slight violence (as to be expected), but otherwise just Nuada being an emotionally-constipated ass
Word Count: ~5400 words
Prompt: I always call you by your title except the one time when you’re in trouble, enemies to lovers, slight hurt-comfort
I stayed up until 3 am writing this, so if you see a typo... no you didn't. Just a reminder that my requests are open so please send them in!
Your ability to get along with just about everyone is something you take a lot of pride in. When you first came under the protection of the BPRD with Red, you had quickly formed many valuable connections, even if you couldn’t call many of them true friends. And when Liz later joined the team, the two of you got on like wildfire (pun intended) almost instantly. Hell, even Manning acts agreeable towards you. You’ve always thought of yourself as a charming person, despite your somewhat off-putting appearance, and your skills in negotiation and peacemaking are unmatched.
That is, until a certain elf-prince came into the BPRD’s custody and put that to the test.
You hadn’t been part of the task team that fought in the Battle of the Golden Army, your… special skills pulling you away from the conflict to mediate between two warring tribes of giants in the Himalayas.
You are an Avian, a mutated human with wings and the ability to speak every language, both human and supernatural, on the planet. Had the two tribes gone to war, it would have been devastating for the entire Asian continent and would have exposed the entire supernatural world. Being deep into the world’s tallest mountains and in the throes of complicated negotiations meant that you had little to no communication to the outside world for weeks, so to say you were shocked to find out that the world had been incredibly close to being destroyed by an ancient army would be an understatement.
Even more shocking was finding out that the BPRD had taken the culprit into custody.
The compound was bustling with activity as you made your way through the long corridors to Manning’s office for your debrief. Familiar faces greeted you as you walked past, some stopping for a moment to ask you about your mission. There were a few who gave you a wide berth, eyeing your wings warily. You had grown used to such looks, knowing that your wings were far from the prettiest things to gaze upon. Avians are an incredibly rare type of mutation, but your specific type even more so. While most had beautiful feathered wings like that of an angel, yours more closely resembled a bat’s.
You unconsciously tuck your wings closer against your back, wishing that there was more room underground to stretch out to your full wingspan more often.
You knock on Manning’s door once before pushing your way in, too tired from your trip to wait for him to call you in. All you want to do is take a long, hot shower and sleep for days.
You’re surprised someone is already sitting there across from the director of the BRPD, and from the tension in his shoulders he isn’t very happy. His head snaps towards you the moment you step into the room, his golden eyes finding yours instantly. His mouth is pulled back into a sneer as he regards you coolly, eyes flicking up and down your form before settling on your wings. Something hardens in his gaze, and he quickly turns his body away from you as if you were not even there.
“Ah, you’ve returned!” Manning greets. “Well?”
“The conflict between the giants has successfully been resolved,” you report, trying hard to ignore the disdain that seems to be radiating from the golden-eyed man. “I doubt they will be so quick to go to arms with each other again.”
Manning hums in approval, settling back into his seat. “I want a full report typed up on my desk tomorrow.”  You nod, turning to leave. “Wait, there’s one more thing.”
You eye him warily, your hopes of a quick escape dashed. Manning gestures to the stranger in the room. “This is Nuada Silverlance, Prince of the Bethmoora Clan. He is in our charge for the foreseeable future.” You notice Nuada’s hands tightening into fists at his words. “I’ve assigned you to be his personal guide and companion while he settles into life here.”
“I do not need a guide.” The prince speaks for the first time. His voice is deep and smooth like honey, and you would find it strangely attractive if it weren’t for the fact that he was glaring at you as he spoke. “And I certainly do not want companionship from the likes of her. If I am to be forced to live in this insufferable human prison, then I wish to at least be left alone.”
“You will escort Nuada around the compound,” Manning ignores the silver-haired elf. “And you will help him with anything he needs as well as teach him about human culture.”
Nuada growls, getting to his feet abruptly. “Absolutely not!”
Manning eyes him coolly. “Need I remind you of the reason you're here in the first place. And if you have any hopes of repairing your relationship with your sister, I would recommend you behave and do as we say.”
You stifle a yawn as Nuada growls again, your jet lag really starting to make itself known. The elf turns his angry gaze towards you, rage sparking like molten gold in his eyes. “Am I boring you, human? Maybe a knife to your throat will wake you up.” He threatens.
“Really? Because I don’t see any weapons on you.” You gesture to his empty belt and  exaggeratedly look around the office. “Unless you’ve hidden one somewhere. Is the knife here in the room with us?”
Nuada looks like a volcano about to erupt, and you have to stifle a laugh. “That’s enough, (Name).” Manning says. “If you would be so kind as to show Nuada to his room. It’ll be right across from yours.”
Great.
You and the elf-prince exit Manning’s office in silence and stand awkwardly in the hallway. “Okay,” you clear your throat. “It’s this way.”
You walk a few paces before you realize Nuada isn’t following. You sigh, mustering up the last of your remaining energy as you face the still-glaring prince. “Look, I know you don’t want to be here. Hell, I wouldn’t either. But you are, and from what I’ve heard about what happened, there’s much worse places you could be.” You hold up your hand to stop him as he takes an angry step forward. “We can fight about this tomorrow, but I have had a very long day. And I can promise you that of all the people to get assigned to be your chaperone, you could do a whole lot worse than me. So unless you want me to go get Red to be your buddy, I recommend that you follow me to your room.”
With that, you turn and begin walking away again, a small smile pulling at your lips when you hear light, almost-silent footsteps following behind you.
By the time you reach your rooms, your wings are dragging against the ground with exhaustion. “That’s yours, I guess.” You gesture vaguely at the door across from yours. “If you need anything, just knock or find one of the guards. I’m sure they won’t be far.”
Nuada nods stiffly and enters into his room, closing the door solidly behind him. “Good talk,” you sigh. You spend the rest of the evening decompressing from your trip, taking a hot bath and relaxing in bed with a cup of tea, and most importantly, keeping your mind off of the intriguing elf-prince just across the hall from you.
~~~
You’re shockingly unbothered for the entire night, managing to sleep well into the next day. By the time you drag yourself out of bed, it’s shortly before noon and your stomach is making its hunger known.
You dress quickly and go to knock on Nuada’s door. You wait several moments with no response and knock again, louder this time.
“What do you want, human?” Nuada growls, opening the door half-way.
“I thought you might be hungry and figured I could show you to the dining hall.”
The elf narrows his eyes but reluctantly steps out. “If you must.”
You struggle to hide your amusement at the sight of his disgusted face when you get to the bustling cafeteria. Agents roam between full tables and a clamor of voices and cutlery scraping against plates fills the air. Your smile fades when Nuada suddenly goes rigid. You follow his gaze to see Nuala sitting at a table with Abe. Their bodies are angled towards each other, knees knocking together as Abe leans forward to brush a stray hair behind her ear.
Before you can stop him, Nuada is stalking forward, and you struggle to keep up behind him without knocking into anyone with your wings. Nuala gazes up at her brother with a face devoid of emotion while Abe pulls back awkwardly. “Sister, I wish to speak with you privately.”
“Whatever you have to say can be said to the both of us, brother.” She replies evenly. You hang back, unsure of if you should redirect this before the elf-prince causes a scene.
“You really stoop so low as to openly fraternize with a traitor? You would truly embarrass your people this way?” Nuada shoots Abe a withering glare. The fish-man blinks in surprise. “Uhm, excuse me, but-”
“I love Abe, brother. I expect you to respect my choice.” Nuala reaches over and clasps his hand in her own. “And he is far from a traitor.”
“He helps the enemy! He lives amongst them as if they are family!” Nuada hisses.
“They are my family,” Abe replies smoothly. “If you were to let go of your hate, you could see all the good that they do.”
Nuada growls, taking a menacing step forward. “Hey, let’s maybe not do this here, yeah?” You finally butt in, acutely aware that the dining hall has gone completely quiet and everyone’s attention in on you.
The elf-prince turns and stalks away without a word, leaving you struggling to keep up with him once again. He’s already half-way down the hall when you catch up to him, and you reach forward to grab at his wrist. “Nuada, hold on a second-”
“Don’t you dare touch me, you filth!”
You reel back for a moment, shocked at his outburst in one second and enraged in the next.
“And don’t you dare talk to me like that, your highness.” You square up to the prince, matching his angry gaze with your own. “You may be royalty amongst your kind, but that doesn’t give you any right to speak to me in such a manner. I have done nothing but try to help you.”
“I never asked for your help.” Nuada hisses, looming over you in a certain way that you try very hard not to pay attention to. “If you haven’t noticed, I am being held here against my will.”
You soften slightly, feeling slightly bad for him despite yourself. “I know you are. But you tried to wipe out the entire human race- what did you expect to happen? The best you can do now is try and make the most of being here. It really isn’t so bad once you get used to it.”
“I will never accept being a prisoner here.” Nuada growls, whipping around and stalking off in the direction of his room.
You watch him go with a frown, deciding to give him some time to cool off.
“I apologize for my brother,” a soft voice speaks from behind you.
Nuala stands there with Abe standing slightly behind her, a sympathetic look on her face. “He has always been quick to anger, even when we were elflings.”
You give her a lopsided smile, reaching out a hand to introduce yourself formally. “I appreciate the apology, but none is needed, at least not from you.”
You cast a glance in the direction the elf in question disappeared off to. “I feel bad for him, in a way. Even though he tried to commit mass genocide and all.”
“My brother is very passionate when it comes to the preservation of our people.” Nuala sighs. “Unfortunately, his means of acting on them are grossly misguided.”
You leave the two of them to go on their way, heading back into the dining hall to actually eat this time. After making a quick sandwich, you leave with some fruit and bread wrapped in a napkin. You place it in front of Nuada’s door, knocking sharply twice before heading to the training room for some practice.
Only once he’s certain you’ve left does Nuada open his door, stamping down the small twinge of guilt he feels as he picks up the food you’ve left for him.
~~~
Nuada doesn’t leave his room once for the next three days. The only indication you have that he’s still in there is the faint light from beneath the door and the fact that the food you leave for him always quickly disappears.
On the third day, you grow tired of awkwardly hanging around in the hallway debating on knocking on his door and finally do so.
You wait a few moments before knocking again, louder this time.
“You humans are so impatient. I was going to answer.” Nuada gives as way of greeting. “What do you want?”
“I was wondering if you wanted to come with me to the training room.” You offer with what you hope is a convincing smile. “It’s always empty at this time of day and I figured you might enjoy a change of scenery.”
The prince quirks an eyebrow at you suspiciously but begrudgingly gestures for you to lead the way.
You ask him about his preferred weapon, surprised that he answers your question without malice. He tells you of his prized spear, indulging you in a tale of how it was forged.
You hum in thought before the weapon wall, grabbing a bo staff and handing it to him. “It’s not elven-made, but it’s the closest training weapon we have to what you’re used to.”
Nuada gives it a few test swings, getting used to its weight. While he does so, you unsheath your personal dual swords from their scabbards, examining them closely before deeming them acceptable for the training session.
You settle into a loose fighting stance, shooting the elf a wicked grin. “Ready when you are, princeling.”
He surges forward without warning, immediately going on the offense. You parry his blow easily, following it with a lunge of your own. The sound of metal on metal begins to fill the room as you match each other blow for blow, both of you unable to land a hit on the other. You blink at the sweat threatening to drip into your eyes, searching for any chink in the prince’s otherwise impenetrable stance.
He takes a small step back, presumably to gain momentum for his next attack, but in that moment you spot his weakness. He shifts too much weight into that one foot, and before he can pivot towards you, you’re darting forward with a well-aimed strike to his knee.
He wobbles, off-balanced for a second. That second is all you need, and before he can comprehend it, he’s knocked onto his back with one of your blades pointed at his throat.
He ignores the hand you offer to him, pushing himself to his feet without a word. He can’t help the glimmer of respect he feels for you as you smile at him, finally wiping the sweat from your brow.
You stretch your arms languidly above your head, and he averts his eyes from the sliver of soft skin that becomes visible as your top rides up slightly.
“I haven’t had to work so hard to win against someone in forever.” You say. “We’ll have to do this again sometime.”
“That would be… amenable.”
You grin in victory, pleased at having won two battles today. “Come on, there’s one more place I want to show you while we’re over on this side of the building.”
You lead him to the library, which is almost always virtually devoid of anyone else. The prince can’t completely keep the look of pleasure off his space as he explores the countless titles, pulling some of them to take back to his room with him.
As you bid him goodbye to take a shower, you could swear his gaze lingers on you slightly longer as you turn toward your own chambers.
~~~
Things are slightly different after that day.
Nuada still makes his displeasure at being the BPRD’s prisoner apparent, and he is often cold and grumpy in his demeanor, but he does not direct such harsh words at you again. You continue to train together, slowly learning each other’s fighting styles and testing them with a variety of different weapons. You know Manning isn’t very pleased that you’re allowing the prince to wield a weapon, but the way you see it, it allows him to blow off some steam and that’s a win in your book.
You also begin to spend time in the library together, most of the time just reading your separate books in silence. There’s something oddly… domestic about it, if you would allow yourself to think of it in that way.
Thoughts like these are dangerous though, for as the weeks go by, you begin to find yourself attracted to the silver-haired elf.
You realize the true depth of these feelings with startling clarity one night after you see Nuada smile for the first time. It is small and barely-there, pulling at his lips after he finds a book of elven fairy-tales on a shelf tucked in the very back of the library, but the sight of it nearly knocks the air out of your lungs.
There’s no denying the elf is incredibly handsome, but his smile completely transforms his face from alluring to ethereal. You avert your gaze before he can notice, and resolve to never let your feelings become apartment to him.
Because at the end of the day, you’re still just a human, wings or not.
You struggle particularly hard one evening in the library to focus on the book you’ve chosen, stealing quick glimpses at the elf sitting across from you through your hair.
“You’re staring,” He hums, long fingers flicking to the next page without looking up at you.
“Just thinking.” You say, forcing your attention back to the page in front of you. You read the same sentence four times before getting to your feet, carefully marking your place before setting the book down. “I can’t stand being inside one moment longer,” You announce.
Nuada raises an eyebrow. “I do not believe I am ‘allowed’ to leave the premises, if you weren’t aware.” He comments drily, and you scoff.
“Who said anything about leaving?
Cool wind whips at you as you push open the door to the roof, and you sigh in relief at the open air. Stars twinkle overhead, the compound being far enough from the city lights to be able to see a faint haze of the galaxy spread across the sky.
You allow your wings to stretch to their full span for what feels like the first time in ages, giving a small flap that lifts your feet slightly above the ground for a moment.
You can feel the prince’s eyes on you, and you extend one of your wings towards him. “You can touch it, if you want. Most people are curious.”
You suppress a shiver as his calloused hand swipes experimentally over the skin, not expecting your wings to be so sensitive to his touch. He drags his fingertips over the back, marveling at how a limb so strong could feel so soft. “Have you always been like this?” He asks softly.
“I was born with them, yes.” You say, directing your attention to the stars above your head. “Gave my parents quite a shock, I suppose, seeing as they put me up for adoption immediately after I was born. I was taken in by Professor Bruttenholm, who raised me alongside Red. He taught me that my wings are a gift, a way to do good despite what others may see them as.”
You turn to see Nuada is gazing at you intently. “Others have treated you horribly for your appearance.” He doesn’t say it as a question.
“That’s true,” you smile wryly. “People can definitely be cruel. But they can also be incredibly kind, and while there may be a couple here who will avoid me in the hallways, for the most part the BPRD is my family.”
You meet the prince’s gaze imploringly. “I know you hold significant anger for humanity. And I even understand why. But don’t punish an entire race for the sins of a few. There are many who care a whole lot… like me.” For you.
You don’t say that last part, but you know he understands its implication. Over the course of you speaking, the two of you have somehow gravitated closer to each other. You stare into the elf’s golden eyes, now inches from your own.
Your hands brush together as he draws even closer, and your breath hitches slightly at the electricity that the touch elicits.
“I must admit I have grown rather fond of you,” Nuada murmurs, almost as if he doesn’t even realize. “You have made being here slightly more bearable.”
You huff out a laugh as his warm breath fans across your cheeks. Your eyelids begin to flutter closed as his lips just barely brush against yours. All of the sudden, he yanks himself away, his face a mixture of disbelief and fury.
“You have bewitched me,” the prince hisses, eyes devoid of the warmth they had held just moments ago. “I see your ploy now, witch. You would make me a traitor to my own kind, complacent to stay here forever and allow humanity to corrupt what little of the natural world there is left.”
“Nuada, I-” you stumble in disbelief, reeling from the complete change in his attitude.
“Silence!” He roars, causing you to take an involuntary step back. Gone is any of the tenderness he had directed towards you, replaced with cold, simmering rage. For the first time, you find yourself slightly afraid of him.
"You are nothing but a filthy human with extra appendages,” he spits viciously, and you rear back as if he had slapped you. “And I will always hate you just like the rest of your despicable kind.”
He leaves you on the roof, slamming the door behind him with a bang.
You don’t know how long you stand in the cold, completely dumbfounded by Nuada’s actions. All the progress you’d made with him had vanished in an instant, any hope of him possibly returning your feelings snatched away in the cruelest way possible.
You finally shake yourself out of your shock, reaching up to wipe the silent tears off your cheeks. You suppose that you should have expected this. You’d been foolish to think that you and the elvish prince could even remotely be friends, much less anything more.
You bury your hurt deep, deciding that from now on that you would avoid Nuada at all costs. Manning would just have to find someone else to accompany him around.
You make your way back to your room in a daze, heart twisting as you briefly glance at the door across from yours.
You don’t sleep at all that night, wrapping your wings comfortingly around yourself and shivering from the cold that has seemed to settle itself right against your bones.
~~~
You and Nuada do not speak for a month.
You deliberately avoid his gaze every time you pass each other in the halls, and if he happens to be in the training room or library whenever you are, you leave until he is finished.
By some twisted form of masochism, you spend a lot of time on the rooftop, staring blankly at the horizon.
Life without the elvish prince is boring and monotonous, and you have no idea how you carried out your days before he was there to occupy all your time. It doesn’t help that you’ve barely been given any missions, the few you’re called on only pulling you away from the compound for a few days at a time.
If anyone notices the change in either of your attitudes, they don’t say anything. Nuala often looks at you with sympathy and Liz seems to hang around more despite being constantly busy with the twins, but neither of them address your listlessness.
You’re sitting in the library pretending to read when a lower agent approaches you. “Manning wants to see you in his office.”
You get up with a sigh, already not looking forward to this conversation.
You struggle to keep any emotion from showing on your face when you see Nuada is sitting across from Manning’s desk. A strong sense of deja vu hits you as his gaze meets yours and flicks away just as quickly before you can read anything there. The director of the BPRD clears his throat, obviously having caught the brief exchange.
“There has been a troll sighting not far from here,” Manning directs towards you. “They’re bold, amassing forces so close to our base. I’m sending a large team to go deal with the problem.” He gestures to the elf who is pointedly not looking at you. “Nuada will be accompanying you.”
You immediately open your mouth to protest, your refusal dying on your tongue as Manning holds up a hand to silence you. “The prince has not caused any problems during his stay here and I believe it is time for him to start becoming more involved with our operations. He will be your responsibility while out on the field.”
You grind your teeth so hard you fear they might crack as Manning dismisses you both. You speed-walk out of the office before Nuada can get to his feet, trying to put as much distance between the two of you as possibly.
It’s a little hard to do that while in the back of a transport van, which you find yourself seated in the next morning. You do your best to ignore the elf sitting across the aisle from you as you’re jostled along. You grip your dual swords sitting across your lap, trying to keep your mind on the mission ahead.
You’re the first out of the van when it stops, immediately beginning to scan your surroundings. Your group has been dropped off right in front of a dense part of the forest, the trees so close together it's impossible to see between them.
As the rest of the team assembles on the grass, you strap your swords to your back and launch yourself into the air, trying to get a better glimpse into the thicket. You swoop closer to the treetops, but the branches are too thick to see through, and you return to the clearing with no luck.
“I can barely see into there,” you report. “They’ve chosen their hideout well.”
Red claps his hands together, calling everyone closer to him. “We’ll have to split up to cover more ground. Me and Liz will head north-west into the forest. (Name), you and Nuada will go north-east. The rest of you fan out in between.”
Ice settles into your heart as the group disperses, leaving you and Nuada alone. “We’d better get going,” you address the elf for the first time in weeks, not waiting for him to reply before you start walking into the trees.
The two of you hike in silence for some minutes, pushing aside branches and foliage with every step. You grumble quietly to yourself, wishing you could stretch your wings. Nuada stops suddenly, his hand on your wrist and a slender finger pressed to his lips to keep you quiet.
Warmth begins to creep up your arm from where his skin touches yours, but the hair standing up at the back of your head distracts you from it. The sounds of the forest have gone completely silent, leaving behind an eerie ringing that you don’t know is in your head or not.
Nuada pulls you down suddenly, wide eyes meeting your own as an arrow embeds itself in the wood right behind where your head had just been.
“Run,” he growls, and then you’re both taking off through the trees.
Branches whip at your face as you race through the thicket, knobby roots seeming to reach up to try and trip you with every stride.
You scramble to a halt as a troll seems to materialize out of the branches before you, his sharp teeth and red eyes gleaming in the dappled sunlight that manages to filter through the leaves. You draw your swords, preparing for a fight. Your swords meet his in a clash of metal on metal, and you grunt from the exertion. The troll is strong, and your stomach rolls at the stench of his breath as he grins wickedly at you.
“(Name)!” A scream of your name steals your attention just enough to notice the troll that has also been creeping up behind you, but it is already too late.
A hard blow strikes you across the back of the head, and you crumple immediately. An enraged roar and a high-pitched squeal of pain that is suddenly cut off is the last thing you hear before your world completely goes black.
~~~
You wake slowly, head pounding with every beat of your heart.
You blink blearily, the sight of one of the BPRD’s hospital rooms coming into focus. Movement from beside you shifts your attention, and you’re shocked to see Nuada sitting uncomfortably in one of the metal chairs by your bedside.
He is dressed in fresh robes, his silver hair pulled back and a somber look on his face. You gaze at him silently, not trusting yourself to speak for multiple reasons.
“I owe you numerous apologies,” he begins without ceremony. “I was cruel and incredibly unkind. I have no excuse other than my own bigotry and confusion. I did not know how to handle my emotions and lashed out at you as a result.”
You allow him to grab your hand, the same warmth beginning to creep up your arm. You can’t deny that it feels nice, but you don’t exactly want to forgive him just yet.
“I feel… very strong emotions for you.” Nuada says, his face sincere as he looks at you. For once, there is no anger lurking in his sight, and his eyes are golden pools of sunlight. “I did not want to admit to myself what they were at the time, but seeing you hurt proves that I can fight it no longer.” The prince takes a deep breath. “I love you, (Name). And I will spend every day for the rest of our lives making up for the hurt I have caused you, if you would allow me to court you.”
You press your lips to his, the kiss soft and hopeful. He responds immediately, carefully bringing his hand up to caress your cheek and hold you to him. This kiss is everything that your first one should have been, and you pull away reluctantly despite yourself.
“You have a lot of making up to do,” you say with a smile. Nuada smiles back, his entire face lighting up with joy.
“I will make you my queen,” he vows. “You will never want for anything from this day forward.”
You can’t help the laugh that escapes at how serious he’s being, reaching forward to intertwine your fingers with his.
“Let’s maybe start with dinner, hm?”
Not beta read, I wrote half of this in a fitful haze as soon as I got this ask, promptly lost it all by hitting the wrong button and couldn't recover it, and then re-wrote it in an even sleepier, more fitful haze. You shifted your hold on your toddler to keep him from slipping out of your arms, gently bouncing him as he cried, hoping it would help him go back to sleep. It had been two days without sleep, so you were willing to try anything
"Oh baby pergil, little baby pergil, flying through the sky..." You murmured beneath your breath. This was your fifth time singing through the song, but it seemed to be working,
And then your comm began to glow with an impending message.
It was one in the morning, but you were too tired to wonder who could be calling you at this hour. Plus, you could use the distraction.
"H'lo?" You asked.
"Are you sitting down?" It was Kix. Dr. "Medical comes before sleep", who would turn right around and scold you for not getting what sleep you could get with a baby.
Fives was starting to fuss, now that you weren't serenading him. "I can't, I just got Iv'ika to calm down, and if I sit down it'll make it worse."
"Look, I've got something important to tell you, and I really think that you should sit down before-"
"Is someone dead or dying?" You asked.
"For once, no," Kix laughed half-heartedly, "Are you sitting-"
"Are you gonna tell me whatever this is or not?"
There was a beat of silence on the other end of the comm.
"We found Echo."
Your stomach twisted, pushing everything out f your stomach and up your throat, threatening to make you vomit.
"Don't- don't- don't you dare joke about that," You snapped. The sudden sharpness in your tone made Fives cry out.
"I'm not joking, look-"
"Did Jesse put you up to this?" You demanded as your eyes began to sting with more than just the lack of sleep, "Tell him he's a mir'sheb-"
"Jesse doesn't even know yet! Rex told me to-"
"You're all a bunch of miserable old men, and I never want to speak to any of you ever again."
You hung up before Kix could hear you sob. Fives was already crying, and you had to be strong for him, like you had for his whole life.
You held your son tightly, caressing his sweaty hair while you focused on singing lullabies, not about the dead father of your child. In your hand, your comm kept buzzing as Kix and even Jesse tried to call you back. Until finally, you blocked them, and Rex too for good measure, not even bothering to read the messages they tried to send you.
Fives fell asleep about an hour later, and you pondered your reaction.
Rex and Kix weren't the type to play pranks in the middle of the night, and Jesse might have been a bit of an arse, but he wouldn't prank you like this, would he? Not even Fives would have gone that far, especially not when it came to the life of a beloved brother.
Could Echo really be alive?
You'd have to worry about that later. Fives was asleep, and you had work in a couple hours. You had to try and get some sleep while the opportunity was fresh.
Tumblr media
Your woke to the smell of your mother making breakfast. She immediately came in and took Fives from your arms, cooing to her grandson while she changed his diaper. You took a quick shower and smeared on some makeup to cover the dark circles under your eyes. When you stepped out of the refresher to get dressed, your mother was singing one of the lullabies she always used to sing to you.
"I think his fever's broken," She smiled at you, and you felt a bit of the huge weight lifted off your shoulders.
"Be good for Nana, okay?" You told Fives. He was a bit fussy, but nowhere near how he was last night. You could breathe easy at the office, even though you were almost late, and let yourself focus on fielding calls from agitated customers and filling out the proper files for each complaint.
You were still exhausted, though, so as you made a fresh pot of caff your mind wandered back to Kix's comm last night. You should really just apologize to him, but you felt so embarrassed. Ever since Echo died, the boys of the 501st had been there for you. Holding your hair back while you threw up from morning sickness and learning how to cook so that you could nap and have a proper meal when you woke up. In the end, pride kept you from unblocking them then and there, but as you made your way back to your desk with a cup of caff, your mother commed you.
"Mom, is everything okay?"
"Honey, there's a group of clones here to see you. lots of them."
A shiver ran through you and you groaned. You were gonna get an earful from all of them, weren't you.
"Tell them I'm on my way. I'll be there in a minute."
"Do I have to let them in?"
You paused. Your mom could be blunt from time to time. She was a wonderful mother and an even better grandmother, but she still wasn't used to the idea that you'd had a child with a clone. Having been a single mother herself, she got protective real fast. It was probably best that they stayed outside.
You apologized profusely to your boss for leaving early, and ended up playing the desperate single mother card. The sloppy makeup job and the faint perfume of sick baby that was following you everywhere as of late certainly helped sell the act.
When you got to your apartment, Rex, Kix, and Jesse were waiting, along with six other troopers. Four of them wore dark gray armor, while two had armor that was more white like the standard trooper armor.
One of those troopers looked at you with wide eyes, and you couldn't blame him. You had to look as much like a ghost as he did. He had the same nose shape and facial structure as all the other clones, but he was incredibly emaciated and pale. His white armor looked to be the kind that they gave civilians in the field, and it was clearly padded out in some places to help him fill out the bodysuit.
"Did you have to bring everyone and scare my mom half to death?" You sighed to Rex.
"Hey, they insisted," Jesse waved to the squad of new troopers dismissively and held out his arms for a hug. Given everything that had happened in the last few days, you accepted the comforting embrace without question.
"We tried comming you to tell you we were coming, but for some reason our messages won't go through," Rex placed his hand on his hip, all business.
You folded your arms and glared at Kix. "That'll happen when you call someone at midnight to pull their leg."
"I wasn't pulling your leg!" Kix sighed in exasperation and grabbed the emaciated trooper's arm, pulling him to stand in front of you.
You took a step back, "Um, hi?"
"Hi," He said softly. He coughed to clear his throat and repeated the greeting in a firmer tone.
"Well, what do you want?" You asked, oblivious to the revelation that was right in front of you.
Rex sighed, "You'll remember Echo, right?"
You stopped. you looked the emaciated trooper up and down, but refused to look him in the eyes.
"Rex," You took a deep breath, "Please don't do this to me. Not today-"
"But it's him!" Jesse exclaimed, "We found him and rescued him on Anaxes!"
"We?" One of the dark-armored troopers demanded, flicking a toothpick at Jesse.
"Well it's easier than explaining ev- Is it really so hard to believe that after everything karked-up that's happened to us, something good might have actually happened?"
"Boys," Rex said sharply. He nodded down the hall, and most of your little group ambled off to give you some distance.
"Cyare..." The trooper who everyone said was Echo reached out his right hand towards you, then returned it to his side. It wasn't much of a hand anymore, there was a scomplink attachment in its place.
"Cyar'ika, you're trembling," He noticed, a hint of terror in his voice. You kept your eyes on the floor. He was one to speak, how could he even stand on those wobbling legs?
His helmet fell on the floor as his left hand--still a hand--came up to cradle your cheek, wiping away a single tear.
Don't cry, you told yourself, don't cry, don't cry, don't cry.
With that tender touch, you finally allowed yourself to look him in the eyes.
A million men had the same brown eyes as Echo, but none of them shone when they looked at you like Echo's did.
"Prove it. Tell me something I've never told anyone el-"
"You talk in your sleep. It's probably because you need a cup of tea before you go to bed."
Your breath caught in your throat.
"I wanted to name our son after Fives, but you said he'd get to big a head about it."
You managed a laugh, "He did get a big head about it."
Echo chuckled, and the scomp on his right arm rested against your arm as he pulled you closer.
"I told you I wanted to marry you as soon as the war was over, and you tried to convince me to move it up until after my last mission."
You gasped out a sob, wiping your runny nose on the sleeve of your blouse. Echo wrapped his arms around you, and you pulled him even closer.
"So you really named him after Fives?" Echo gasped, pressing kisses to the crown of your head.
You squeezed him as tightly as you dared. When you hugged him before he left for the citadel, Your arms almost couldn't make their way around him. Now you feared that if you held him the wrong way, he'd snap like a twig.
"It was what you wanted, what else was I supposed to name him?"
Echo took your chin in his hand, fiercely pressing a kiss to your lips. You could feel a year and a half's worth of loneliness and longing behind the passion in that kiss. All the fear, pain, and isolation the both of you had felt without each other. You almost couldn't bring yourself to stop kissing him. If you stopped kissing him you thought you might wake up in the middle of the night with your crying baby on your chest.
"I want to meet him," Echo said in between kisses.
Your heart fluttered. Echo was going to meet his son. Fives was finally going to meet his dad.
"Yes, yes," You gasped, and grasped his hand, pulling him into your apartment. It was almost exactly the same as the last time he'd been there, with the exception of all the baby toys strewn about and the holos of you and Fives hanging on the wall.
Your mother was in the kitchen, spatula in hand, making dinner and watching the door at the same time.
"Where's Fives?" You asked her.
"He's asleep, but-"
You ignored her protests and brought Echo into your room.
Fives was just waking up when you opened the door. He'd lost his pacifier while tossing and turning, but that allowed Echo's first view of his son to be the big, wide-toothed smile he gave you.
"Hello precious boy!" You swooped across the room and swept him into your arms. He had a bit of a cowlick from the way he'd slept, and you tried to smooth it back, but it didn't do much.
"Fiv'ika, there's someone you need to meet," You whispered calmly, "Can you be a good boy for mama?"
Fives didn't say anything, but he buried his face into your neck, cooing softly.
You brought him over to Echo, who stood in the bedroom doorway, spellbound at the sight of the two of you. You had never been able to see how Little Fives' eyes looked exactly like Echo's, but now that you had them next to each other, the likeness was unmistakable.
"I...I don't know if I can hold him," Echo held out his arms. You could see his heart, struggling not to break as he watched you cuddle your son. Your son. Yours and Echo's. A proper family now.
"Sit on the bed," you nodded. Echo did so, and you pushed him back against the pillows so that you could lay Fives on his chest.
Fives blinked his dark brown eyes at Echo, drinking in the not-so-stranger's face. Echo stayed as still as possible, like a sniper in wait. The baby wasn't as heavy as he expected, and he was scared to hurt him. His hands were made for combat and firing weapons, no for child rearing.
Fives' head dropped suddenly, his forehead smacking against Echo's collarbone.
"Yow!" Echo gasped in surprise, but Fives wasn't upset. He rubbed his face against Echo's neck, just like he had with you.
"He likes you," You said, lying next to Echo. You placed your hand on his upper arm and squeezed.
"He likes me?" Echo asked.
"He does," You whispered, tears brimming in your eyes, "And guess what?"
"What?" there was a hint of fear in Echo's voice. Today had already been a very long day for the both of you.
You rested your head on Echo's shoulder, close enough that you could press a kiss to Fives' dark curls.
"I like you too."
le petite mort; James March x Reader
summary: After checking into one of the Hotel Cortez, a conversation with the bartender plagues your mind with dirty thoughts. Some guy catches you pleasuring yourself in the hotel room - and that some guy happens to be the owner of the Hotel. w a r n i n g s: 2k words! shameless smut! female masturbation, accidental voyeurism, slight humiliation, choking / asphyxiation, mentions of death (kinda). a/n: this is one of the first JPM fics that I started writing, and I felt that it finally needed to be finished and out of my drafts. hopefully it's not ASS. this is s shorter one, which feels alien to me, but c'est comma ça. hope everyone enjoys it!
“Most people who check into the Hotel Cortez are hipsters wanting a taste of the art deco, or junkies and prostitutes looking to have a quick night in a cheap room.” She set the glass down carefully on the ornate bar, sliding it towards you with one finger.
The bartender didn’t hesitate in striking up a conversation after you’d sat down, angling your two suitcases on one side of the stool. The thought immediately manifested itself between your legs, and you shifted. If only. It had been so long since you’d had a good fuck that at this point, you’d even take a quick night. Maybe not with a junkie, but….
“I guess I kind of fall into the first category. But, I am here for a friend’s wedding. I didn’t want to stay where everyone else was staying.” You tilted your head back, letting the remainder of the amber slide down your throat. “I wish I was in the second category… maybe minus the junkies and prostitutes bit. But…” You trailed off with a shrug.
“Oh believe me, sweetheart. I know exactly what you mean. Women have needs.”
As you gathered your bags, your peripheral caught someone with dark hair watching you. Naturally, when you turned to look at them, you were met with an empty bar. Of course, because this is an old hotel and probably haunted.
“Thanks, Liz. It’s been a treat.”
She said nothing, only bowed her head with her long arms resting widely on the bar. You made a mental note to come back to the bar for another drink. But for now, it was time to unwind in your hotel room.
After getting settled, and a much needed hot shower — washing that airplane sludge off you was mandatory — you were finally relaxed. The wedding wasn’t until Saturday, so you had plenty of time to do whatever made its way into your mind. Maybe order some room service. Maybe peruse the hotel for some history, spend hours reading the informative little plaques that decorated the wall — every old hotel had them. Maybe masturbate…. Oh. Yes. Definitely that. That was first on the list, actually.
Dropping your towel to your feet, you pulled an old tattered t-shirt over your head, and hurried to the bed. Silly that you had any sort of modesty in an empty hotel room, it was after all, your hotel room. Could’ve and should’ve just bolted across the floor naked.
Suddenly, the radio on the table across from you crackled to life, the speakers expelling a high-pitched voice singing jovially amongst violins and some sort of wind instrument. After a few moments, it switched off with a burst of static. Lids heavy with arousal, you stared sleepily at the radio, resolving to unplug it before you went to sleep that night. Old wiring could be tolerated, but things turning on in the middle of the night was nightmare fuel.
You pressed the pad of your middle finger between the folds, delving further down to your entrance, where you pulled up some of the slick to lubricate your clit. The sensation made your eyelids flutter. Jesus, that conversation with the bartender had really gone straight to the cunt — you were clearly longing for something. Someone who would bring something new, something exciting to the table. You already dreaded the polite flirting that was going to occur at the wedding.
Your fingers circled your clit, bringing the sensitivity as high as you could for as long as you could before you felt the hot clench of an orgasm rush over you. Expelling a high pitched moan, you slipped your middle and ring finger inside, pumping in and out to bring yourself over the edge. You let out a few hoarse breaths as your hips dug into the creaky mattress, riding out the pleasure.
“My, my…”
You stared wide-eyed up at the ceiling, trying to figure out if that had been some weird, orgasm-induced hallucination.
“La petite mort, as the French call it.”
You yelped, pulling your wet fingers from your cunt. Unless the bartender had slipped something in your drink, the man at the edge of your bed was definitely not a hallucination. Dark hair styled so that not a single strand was out of place, no facial hair save for a thin moustache that decorated his upper lip, and a suit so pristine, you wondered if he’d just come off a film set. It was LA after all.
“Jesus Christ,” you sputtered, panting unevenly. “What?!” The way he stood at the edge of the bed, hands layered atop a cane was so paternal and overbearing it made you feel like a child caught watching porn on a school night. There was nothing to be embarrassed of; you were a grown woman in a hotel room that you paid for.
“A little death,” he replied. “A temporary weakness, a loss of consciousness. It became a poetic euphemism for orgasm in the late eighteen-hundreds.”
“Thanks for the history lesson,” you murmured, mouth curling downward in irritation. “Have you ever heard of knocking!?”
He pushed his bottom lip into his top, pulling his chin up in a challenging expression. One eyebrow quirked. “You wouldn’t have heard me if I had.”
You opened your mouth to protest, but promptly snapped it shut. He had you there. A soft, melodic rapping on a door would’ve been lost amongst your whimpers and groans. Laughably so.
“Who the fuck even are you!? I’m going to call front desk — this is weird.” Frustrated, you wipe your slick fingers on the sheet beneath you before reaching for the phone. Suddenly, he was beside you, and the energy that radiated off of him made your leg muscles spasm.
The woman on the other end sounded annoyed.
“Hi.”
“Hi,” she repeated, sounding like she was trying to suss out if this was a prank call.
“I would um, like someone removed from my hotel room. Security, or something.”
“We don’t have security.”
“Okay, that’s outrageous, but — there’s just some fucking guy in my room.”
You’re met with silence. The old plastic of the receiver creaked in your grip, your eyes darting back to him. He was smiling. Proudly.
“Tell them my name.”
You jerked your head forward, contorting your face in defiance, and wordlessly asking for clarification.
“Repeat after me, ‘The man in my room is James Patrick March, and I’d like him removed at once.’”
You felt your eyes narrow into slits, confused. Somewhere deep inside your core, you felt a clench at his sternness. “Go on, my dear.” He urged.
You cleared your throat resentfully.
“The man in my room is… James Patrick March and I’d like him removed at once.”
The line crackled. Instead of the usual static one would expect, terrifying sounds blared through the receiver; hisses and condescending sniggering. Eventually, you make out the harsh sound of a full bellied laugh. The woman was laughing.
“The owner? The owner of the hotel?” The laughing continued.
The tip of his cane came clunking down into the switch-hook, where he held it for several seconds — for poignancy? Dramatic effect? The dial tone startled you.
“I paid for this hotel room, okay? I do—“ You started, stiffly returning the receiver to the cradle.
“You did, did you?” He asked, his voice raising gleefully. The change in tone unsettled you. Deeply. Keeping your eyes locked on his, you reached for the edge of the duvet, scratching your nails at it to bring it up around your bare legs.
He watched you intently, almost smiling. Was he waiting for you to say something? Jesus.
“Ye-yeah… I paid for it.”
“Ah!” He exclaimed.
You jumped.
“I own this hotel, you see.” He gestured enthusiastically to the room, your eyes following it as though you hadn’t already spent a night in it. “I own it all. Down to the sheets you were pleasuring yourself on moments ago.”
You glanced at them. “Finished on, actually.”
“Yes — I know. Shame. I would’ve taken great pride in doing that myself.”
Your jaw dropped, and you pressed your legs together until you felt the pressure against your cunt. Your stomach tied itself in knots.
“Is the thought odious to you?” He inquired, almost softly, like he was trying to appeal to your gentler nature.
You remained silent, rubbing at the veins in your wrist. Eventually, after mulling it over (or gaining the confidence to do so), you shook your head.
“I thought not.” He may have been a complete stranger, but the way melodic way he crooned and growled every word made you dizzy. With the back of his hand, he swept a strand of hair from your brow, his knuckles ghosting over your cheek.
“Show me,” he ordered, running a single finger along your collarbone.
His hands wrapped around your throat, and heat blossomed in your cheeks. At first, his fingers were pressing on either side of your throat and the arousal flowed freely again, delighted by the concept of a mysteriously sexual one night stand. Admittedly, he wasn’t going in easy, but you weren’t a saint. You’d had your fair share of dudes who thought they were a Dom. This guy though… he wasn’t that. He didn’t get his tendencies from sneaking peeks at his girlfriend’s Cosmopolitan. He certainly hadn’t killed your arousal with his decision.
He shifted his weight on top of you, pulling the breathiest moan from your lips. The way his pointer finger roughly traced your jawbone drove you wild. His hands were just cold enough to feel unusual, but they were soft and possessed an unanticipated strength.
All at once, the pressure shifted to the front, his palm compressing against your trachea. Your brows furrowed at the sudden discomfort. His gaze was locked on your face, raptly watching the changing expressions.
You grasped at his hand, flailing as the oxygen started dwindling. Your head felt heavy and the sensation of your vision darkening around the edges frightened you. Your muscles tensed instinctively. He didn’t let up, and the panic wound itself in between your ribs like a snake. With your heart pounding, you began fighting recklessly, desperately trying to reach for anything.
James saw the nearly final change, and with a delighted gaze, eased up. “Exhilarating!”
You gasped, your lungs moaning as they sucked in air. The sound was disturbing to you, and sounded inhuman. “You almost killed me…”
“Hardly, my dear! Brain death occurs in four to five minutes. You triumphantly endured a mere ten seconds!”
“A…little… death.” He whispered each word delicately over your lips, hovering mere centimetres above yours. He was intoxicating, whatever it was he was putting off. Unbeknownst to you, your legs dropped open, hungry for more.
He looked down, eyes scanning over your thighs, your knees, and to the lush, inviting garden between them. One hand returned to your throat, compressing it slightly. You whimpered at the now-familiar sensation, and scooted your body down further on the bed, through his legs.
“Good! Yes,” he praised. “Succumb to your urges.”
As though he’d reached into your brain and simply made you do it, your fingers were on your cunt, playing with your wet folds before you had a second to process that you'd even done it. It was already sensitive, your touches had you galloping towards a second, overstimulated orgasm. With his free hand, James enveloped your hand with his large one, cupping it easily. You writhed uncontrollably, whimpering. He growled in delight at the feeling of your vocal cords humming beneath his palm.
“St-stop,” you cried out weakly, the pressure on your throat making you sound altogether pathetic.
“Very well then, I will.” He said, abruptly releasing the pressure on your throat. “I will, but you won’t.”
You almost protested the action, though that would’ve been an embarrassing blow to your ego had you actually done it. Begging him to stop then begging him to continue? Shameful. How much more of a desperate whore could you be, honestly? “Go on - since you’re so fond of it. Show me.”
He took in a seat in the velvet chair directly parallel to the bed, one leg crossed casually over the other. His dark eyes were aflame with interested, erotic hunger. You slipped one finger in, making a slutty show of how wet you were. Two fingers, and you arched your back, moaning loud.
“Another,” he crooned. You obeyed, wincing at the fullness. You curled your fingers up, pressing into the spongy flesh that made you writhe like a worm on a hook. You began leaking onto the mattress below, a mess of cum and sweat. James watched you as you fingered yourself again and again, pleasuring yourself over and over in every way you knew how until your legs were quivering with the overstimulation.
“Die a little death, my darling, go on…”
You came. Hard. Screaming, shaking and spilling out onto the sheets beneath you. With your hand laying limp over your damp cunt, twitching every so often, your breathing gradually slowed. Of course, when you lifted your head, the man was gone, leaving nothing but the quiet echo of his satisfied ‘Mmmm…’
001 — THE MOVE IN
You're in your room, sorting through some random items. Scraps of paper, stickers, letter paper—you name it. You raise the volume of your speaker once more, only to lower it again when your mother calls your name. You walked out to greet her, turning off the music. Your mom smiles at you, pleased that you came out so quickly.
You noticed her optimistic demeanor; perhaps she received a raise. You grab a glass of water while you wait for her to say something. "Dear, have you heard about the new people moving in next door?" You pause to think about it. There’s a new family? You exclaim and nod in response. "Oh, yeah, I saw those moving trucks when I was walking to school two days ago. Why?”
"Are you free right now?" You nod hesitantly, unsure what she expects from you. "Let's help them move!" You stopped getting ice from your refrigerator. You quickly turned to face her, a shocked expression on your face. "Mom, do you know who these people are? They've only recently moved in!"
“Of course I do, silly. Also, put that cup down before you drop it.” You slowly place the cup on the counter, following your mom to convince her.
“Okay..maybe I am busy.”
“Busy doing what? Being locked up in your room? Well sorry, that excuse isn’t going to work right now.”
“But I’m cleaning my stuff!”
“Why do that now? You never do it. Plus, you can do it another time.”
“Come on, you know I can’t get along well with new people.” Your mom ignores your excuses, quickly putting on her shoes. “And I’m here to fix that.” You groan as her response, knowing you have to come along anyways. “Hurry up! I can see them moving in boxes already!” You ran upstairs, grabbing the nearest hoodie you could get. “Okay, okay I get it!”
Tumblr media
Here you are, dragging your feet along the sidewalk, wishing the time would fly by so you wouldn't have to help the new family. There was no personal grudge; you simply dislike interacting with new people. Your mother quickens her walking pace, forcing you to sprint to catch up. She cheerfully greets the family's mother, or so you assume. The lady greets you while holding two large bags.
"We're delighted to help out!" You stood behind your mother, giving her a small wave and an awkward smile. "This is my child. Say hello, there's no need to be shy." You shot your mother a quick glare while she smiled back. “Nice to meet you yn!” “Hello, Miss.” “Oh, call me Mrs. Yang.” “Oh, sure. Thank you Mrs. Yang.” You flashed an awkward smile to lighten up the air.
You stand there awkwardly listening in on your mother's conversation with Mrs. Yang. Your mother exclaims, catching your attention as you pick at your nails. "You should meet Jungwon, YN. He and you are the same age!" She gestures to the boy in the distance who is carrying a box into the house. You squint your eyes, unable to make out his facial features. "Why don't you introduce yourself?" Mrs. Yang follows you two from behind as she brings you to the boy before you can say no. Great, you are now about to embarrass yourself.
“Hi Jungwon!” your mother says cheerfully. The boy sees her, gives a small smile and says hello back. He spots you next to her, making him nervous all of a sudden. He broke off eye contact with you, looking around the truck cluelessly. Did he find you a bother? Well, you didn’t care—it was just gonna be a one time thing. “YN, go help Jungwon bring the boxes in!” She leaves you standing with Jungwon, you awkwardly make eye contact with him.
"Let's just get this out of the way." You sighed as the boy nodded and followed you behind. You noticed a box with Jungwon's name written on it. You reach for it, but he also tries to grab the same one. He pauses, drawing your attention to him. He pulls away shyly, grabbing the next box and walking away. He's definitely out of the ordinary. Despite the fact that you didn't know him, he exudes a comforting aura.
You notice Jungwon walking up the stairs to his room and decide to follow him. His room appeared to be quite simple once you entered. There were white walls, white bookshelves, and a mattress with a black cat plushie on top. He quickly hid it under his blanket because you suddenly stared at the plush. "Why hide it? It's cute," you said as you set the box of his things down. "Do you like cats?"
"Yeah," he says, the word barely escaping his mouth. You had no idea why he was nervous—you guessed it was because a random stranger was trying to talk to him and was in his room.
“What do you like, then?” In an effort to continue the conversation, he questioned.
"I really love stars. I enjoy the way they sparkle in the night sky when I see them in videos, of course. I never spent any time stargazing or staying up late to do so. I don’t think I’ll ever have the time or patience to do all of that. But, they seem really pretty.” As you took a seat on his floor, you said. He nods in silence, perhaps noting your preferences for the next time.
"I met her when she came to visit my family. "She's nice," he says as he begins to take items from the box. He took out posters and even small figurines. You went to take a closer look. You're right behind him, and he stiffens up. You give him an odd look that causes him to clear his throat. He walks away, his cheeks flushed. "What's the deal with him?" You thought to yourself.
You've noticed that he enjoys being well-organized. He gets irritated if his posters aren't straight and has the perfect number of books on his shelf. He's definitely not like the other guys you'd meet. You tried having small conversations with him here and there, but he only responds briefly. You kept going because you found him interesting. Something about him pushed you to speak with him even more.
The minutes flew by. You and Jungwon were still in his room, which was awkward. But you and him continued to talk until it was time for you to leave. You looked at your phone screen when you heard your mother call your name. It lights up, revealing 4:30 p.m. "Oh, it's kinda late," you say, making eye contact with him and letting him know you have to leave.
“I’ll see you later?” As you stood up, you said. He nods, a solemn expression on his face. Didn't you just meet today? Why is he so upset about you leaving? And why was your heart beating faster than usual? No, you had to gather yourself together. You walked out of his room, ignoring your original thoughts, not noticing him following you.
“Wait-“ You heard him call out. You turn around, seeing the sight of the nervous boy. "Thank you for hanging out with me even though I was awkward. And you know, you kept the conversation going with your questions, so really I’m grateful for that. I thoroughly enjoyed all of our conversations! Thank you...?"
“Oh yeah. YN. call me YN.”
“Thank you YN. See you tomorrow?” His face turns bright red, with a hopeful expression. He really wanted to see you again.
“See you tomorrow.” You smiled and waved him goodbye. When he returned your smile, the first thing you noticed were his dimples. Your stomach flipped. Is that normal? You walked back home with your mother, smiling at your short interaction earlier.
Your mother notices your cheerful mood and immediately suspects you. "You must like the family I see," she says in her sentence. You lift your eyebrows slightly, waiting for her to finish her sentence. "Especially Jungwon." You hurried to deny her claims, saying, "What—just he's cool, I think."
“That’s what they all say! Kids these days..” As she passes by your room, you hear your mother's voice fading away. You forced yourself not to consider what she said. You didn't care about him. There is no way that after only meeting today, you have already begun to feel something like this.
Your mind said otherwise. All night, you couldn't stop thinking about his smile. As soon as you got into bed, you hoped that these thoughts would fade. As you were about to close your eyes, Jungwon's presence forced you to open them right away. The image of him being stuck in your head wasn’t helping. At this rate, your eye bags will show up tomorrow. Did you really like him? Even if you did, you believed that these emotions would go away. Not wanting to think about your feelings, you relaxed into sleep, turning off the light on your nightstand.
And you weren't the only one who was thinking about the incident earlier.
So was Jungwon.
002 — SECOND MEETING
When your alarm went off, you sluggishly hit the snooze button. You sat up, one hand rubbing your eyes. You only got 4 hours of sleep and had school today—wonderful. You went to the restroom to conceal your visible eye bags. You didn't want anyone to make a comment about them, especially on a Monday morning. The aroma of coffee permeates your room as you get ready.
You dashed downstairs when you noticed a cup of iced coffee and a bagel with cream cheese. "Thank you for the coffee, mom," you sighed, relieved. "You've saved my life." As you take a quick sip, she smiles. "I know your sleep schedule is messed up—really it's the least I could do."
"See you later, Mom!" You said this with your mouth full of food. "Be careful, dear!" Before you walked out the door, you heard her say. You checked your watch: 6:55 a.m. Okay, you might be able to catch the bus on time. In fact, you were extremely early.
You liked going to school early and killing time by going to the shops nearby for some reason. You're not sure why you do it, but it's enjoyable for you. You walk to the bus stop with your hands in your pockets. As you approached your neighbor's house, you noticed the brown-haired boy hurrying out the door.
His clothes were a little sloppy, and his hair was a mess. Someone appears to have just awoken. You noticed he was dressed in the same color uniform as you. Did he go to the same school as you? You saw the yellow pin with the school's logo, confirming your predictions. You kept looking at him, getting closer to him.
You laughed as you watched him almost trip over his shoelaces. Jungwon turns to investigate the source of sound. He makes eye contact with you and panics. He straightens his clothes and hair before bending down to tie his shoe. Oh, how he wished you'd leave. It’s embarrassing for you to see him like this.
You, however, did not. You simply moved closer to him, waiting beside him. He looks at you, puzzled. You gave him a look, breaking the strange silence. “Um?”
“What? I don't mind waiting for you."
“Why…?”
"We attend the same school. We should walk together. "Please hurry up." He quickly ties his shoes and dusts his pants from kneeling. You walk ahead of him, causing him to trail behind you. He's wary, but he really wants to speak with you. He's been looking for a way to talk to you comfortably since last night. Something about you makes him want to be your friend.
You two have already arrived at the bus stop, where you are waiting together. The only sounds were the wind and the vehicles passing by; nobody cared to speak. Your face went red from the cold, and you weren't even wearing a hooded jacket.
Jungwon notices; he has a keen eye for details. He was brave enough to give you your scarf when he saw that you were shivering from the cold. He timidly moves closer to you while removing the gray scarf. It's the first time he's given someone permission to borrow something of his personal belongings, especially to someone he only met yesterday.
You give me an odd look after seeing Jungwon offer you the scarf.
“Huh?”
“What? Are you not cold?”
“Oh, hold on, don't give me the scarf; it is yours. Is it strange that you’re—" Sighing, he moves closer to your side. He makes you face him, wrapping the scarf around your neck. Even more redness appears on your face, but Jungwon doesn’t appear to notice it. He finishes covering you with the scarf and smiles, revealing the dimples once more.
"It's fine; I believe we are getting quite close actually. Even if we just met.” He glances at you while putting on his hood. “Plus, I have this whereas you do not.” You grinned, flushing, while he kept his triumphant grin.
Finally, the bus arrived at the bus stop. He let you board the bus before him and followed closely in your steps. Fortunately, there are enough open seats for just two people. As you motioned for him to join you in sitting, you turned to face him. He nods, his face showing just a hint of blush.
You choose to take a seat beside the window. There wasn't much room between you and him at this point; your legs were practically touching. You glanced quickly to check what Jungwon was doing as you heard a zipper pop open. He pulled out his wired headphones and phone.
You fixed your gaze on him as you saw him with one of the earbuds in his ear. He motions for you to join him in listening while holding out his earphone. You take the earbud after agreeing. The warmth in your stomach returns as he moves further closer to you.
He presses play, staring at you to see whether you like the song. He exhales with relief once he notices that you're humming along. You let out a small chuckle, gaining the boy’s attention. “You listen to songs like this?” He asks with a quick nod, “Who doesn’t love Twice?” “That’s true.”
Along with the music, you guys bop your heads while laughing heartily with one another. He looks at you lovingly and longs to hear your endearing laughter repeatedly. He has already fallen head over heels for you on day two. You looked adorable wearing his scarf, and he wanted to see you wearing it every day.
You are forced to return the earbud back when the bus arrives at your school. You couldn't get out first because there wasn't enough space between your seat and the one in front of you. He stands up after noticing your glance. You noticed he quickened up his speed, leaving you behind in the bus seat. Isn’t this his first day of school? What if he has no friends? You followed him so that you wouldn't make him feel the same way you did on your first day.
As you ran from a bus stop to the campus, you quickly caught up with him, breathing a little harder than usual. He sure was fast. When he sees you rushing over for him, he starts grinning. You asked out of breath, "What are you smiling for?" “Nothing. I just noticed how far you sprinted to catch up with me from there.”
“Whatever!” You puffed, trying to get rid of the tightening pressure in your chest. When you noticed him taking his schedule out of his folder, you asked, "What's your first period?" His schedule was well-organized, with the classes being emphasized in every color imaginable, including red to purple. The words "chemistry" and "first period" were underlined in this bright green, making it simple to see what he had.
He sighed, "Chem," as if he hadn't noticed you looking at his schedule. “Oh, our classes are the same.” His attention was drawn to your terribly disorganized schedule. The paper had folded corners and appeared to be crumbled. It looked like you pulled it out of the bottom of your bag (which you did). He saw that you seemed unbothered, though. You kept double checking your paper and his. Lucky you—the same classes both showed up on his and yours.
You made him forget about your crumpled paper by saying, "That's great!" He grinned when he noticed how your eyes took on a crescent shape. It was enough to make his heart ache to see how happy you are. He joins in on your laughter, which fills the busy hallway. It seemed like it was just you two in your own little world. You forgot about your friends and so did he. But who cares—you want to spend time with him as much as you can.
You saw one of your friends out of the corner of your eye while you were walking in class together. When you see Jungwon approaching a group of six people, your worries about him vanish. After all, he had connections, which is great. “Who was that guy you walked into school with?” Leeseo pulls curiously on your sleeve.
“Oh him? the boy who yesterday moved in next door. We decided to walk together to school today.”
“Damn, I should visit your house more often.” Liz jokes, receiving a little slap on the arm from you. “Not funny.” They were staring at you after you said that. It was easy to tell you apart, anyone could tell whether you actually liked or hated someone. You spotted Leeseo and Liz exchanging glances as they made an effort to communicate with their brows and eyes.
Confused, you finally understood what they were doing. You made a little gasp that was audible to the two. When Liz discovers that you are speechless, she struggles to contain her laughter. It was way too much watching you like this. “You like him?”
“What—no! We just recently met, like yesterday! That is not possible.” You babbled while doing random gestures with your hands in the air.
“How come not?” Leeseo remarks while putting her chin on her palm. You recline, mumbling to yourself. Liz arches an eyebrow in an effort to understand what you said. "You know, falling in love with the new kid isn’t that bad. Probably could just be love at first sight.” Liz and Leeseo both nod in agreement.
“But that's so cliché!” You mutter into your palms as you groan. “I didn't want to fall in love this way.” you said.
“Well too bad! Now, will you help me with this worksheet?”
Tumblr media
You didn't need much time to start looking for Jungwon. You searched everywhere, even every staircase and the areas around the lockers. You just wanted him to walk home with you, that's all. You swear you glanced at him briefly when the bell sounded, and then he vanished into the crowd. Five minutes have passed; time was moving much more quickly as normal.
You sighed and decided to go home by yourself. You hoped to see a boy with cat-like features running down your path as you dragged your feet along the concrete pavement. You kept turning around, but there was no boy in sight. He might have actually left. You put in your earbuds and started listening to the same song you did with him on the bus to get here.
It was a mistake to put your earbuds in. You were unaware that the boy you were searching for was chasing you. Even though he was gasping for air, he ran. You certainly moved too quickly for him. He constantly called your name but got no reaction from you. He seemed foolish—it looked like he was attempting to get back with his ex or something.
“Please have the red light turned on, please.” He spoke quietly to himself. Fortunately, the red light turned on, causing you to stop moving. He was relieved that you stopped as he was catching up to you. He touched you on the shoulder while gasping for air. You jumped when you noticed the boy's face was covered with sweat.
"What the hell?" you say. You remove your earbud and put it back in the case for your airpods. "You're drenched in sweat. Literally.” "I'm aware," he said. When Jungwon wipes off his sweat with his sleeve, you can see a red flush forming on his cheeks. “I literally ran all the way from there to catch up.”
“I didn’t even see you!”
“"Listen, I didn't even see you either! I felt as though I was being drawn into a blackhole—a blackhole packed with people—as soon as the bell rang. I was too busy searching around to look for you.”
“It took you that long to get out?”
“Yeah, I was stuck at the other side of the school.”
“Oh. Forgot to search that area.” He gave himself a forehead slap, which made you laugh. “My bad!”
“Whatever. We have each other now.” A smile was plastered on his face, looking at you once more. You nod, returning back the smile. You knew this school year was going to be a long one.
003 — SNEAKING OUT?
You and Jungwon were hanging out every day at this time. Your relationship became closer and closer every time you saw one other. Really, you now face-time each other for hours on end as part of your daily routine.
But things are different now. You didn't call him, and he didn't call you. During the walk to school and back home, all you did was talk. You were aware that the upcoming exam week would be busy. You guys couldn't stay on call for hours talking about who knows what because studying was a top priority.
You yawn after spending two hours poring over your textbooks. As you stretched, the message alert you had been waiting to see appeared. You quickly reach for your phone as you notice Jungwon's contact with a heart emoji appear. You grinned and quickly read his message.
“look outside :]”
You rushed to your window, seeing the boy wave with his phone flashlight on and a grey sweatshirt on. You glanced at the clock, 11:30 PM. You caught a quick glimpse at the time—11:30 PM. Oh my god, it's already very late and your parents are sound asleep. You went to message him, “it’s late :(“
“it’s my only time to actually see you </3 it wouldn’t hurt to hang out for a bit!” You took a flimsy sweater from the closet and climbed out the window, knowing that your mother wouldn't mind. That's what you wanted to believe. He was keeping an eye on you from above to make sure you didn't trip.
Once you got down, you hardly saw his smile, but you were aware that his dimples were showing. When he's happy to be around you, you love to see his dimples, which was one of his best features.
“Hi.” Jungwon says in a sweet tone, making you fold instantly. “Where do you wanna go?”
“Oh you’ll see. Come on YN!” YN! He took hold of your wrist and led the way. Your stomach was besieged by a strange but warm sensation. Thank god it was dark outside since your cheeks were flushed with a light pink hue.
Tumblr media
You two arrive in a grassy location not too far from your separate homes. “I've always wished to come here with someone.” He said it excitedly. “I’m glad I’m here with you.”
He had a huge tote bag that he brought along. He retrieved a plaid mat and set it down for you and him. He invited you to sit down with him by gently tapping the ground. You accept the iced coffee he offers and ask, "So...what are we doing here?" Oh my goodness, he was ready for this.
“We’re here to look at the stars.” He smiles broadly as he turns to face you. He recalled everything, including your two of you's very first chat. You and your crush are here under the stars gazing for constellations, you couldn't help but feel all giddy. Not to mention that you had never done it before.
You two kept talking and laughing together as usual. There was something about his voice today. As you continued to listen to him, you realized that his voice was enticing you to just shut up and listen to him rant all day. It was soothing and pleasant to listen to—why have you only recently paid attention to his wonderful voice?
As the laughter dies down, you two made the decision to maintain silence while allowing the breeze to fill the space. You two kept waiting. White dazzling stars begin to appear just when you're about to give up. “Wow, those are lovely.” You uttered the words reverently while holding your breath. As you continue, Jungwon nods in agreement. He is happy that he chose to invite you for this.
Jungwon noticed that your eyes sparkled like the stars above. That warm sensation returns to his chest. He's not sure why, but he feels strange whenever he's near you. You just have this effect on him that makes him want to hug you and fantasize about being in a relationship with you. He paid even more attention to you this time, seeing the wind beautifully blow your hair.
He examines your facial features; you were truly special. Seeing you this enthralled makes him want to see you like this every day—he's in big trouble. He realizes why he is feeling this way—he only wants to be with you.
That's right—being here with you under the moonlight makes him realize how much he adores you. Oh, you're going to have to pay for his next hospital visit— his heartbeat keeps increasing per second.
You lay down on the mat, hoping to get a better view of the stars. He joins you shyly, both of your heads touching. When you saw Jungwon point into the sky, you heard him chuckle. "Doesn't that one look like it's going to make a cat?"
You fixed your gaze on what he was pointing at. He wasn't mistaken—the lines did create those cat ears. "Oh, I see what you mean. Just a cat meeting another cat," You teased him again. You turned your head to see him, and his ears turned red. You return your gaze to the sky, a wide smile on your face.
"Do I really resemble a cat?" You respond with a nod. "You really do! The way you act at times, your features—particularly your eyes—uh, you're cute like a cat, too." Fuck, you used the word "cute" way too casually. You came to a halt and cleared your throat as Jungwon processed what you said. Did you just say he was cute? In shock, he thought to himself.
You're all flustered this time, while he gets cocky. "Do you really mean it? You know—about my cuteness."
“Take a look at that big dipper over there.” He leaves you alone, chuckling at the abrupt change of subject. All he knew was that his heart was racing, and it was all because of you.
Tumblr media
It was becoming very late, and as much as you wanted to continue gazing up at the brilliant sky, you didn't want your parents to get angry with you. Additionally, it was starting to get a little chilly. Crossing your arms, you were rubbing your arms as you came down the road. That flimsy sweater was not going to help keep you warm. Jungwon notices, he was worried that you were going to get sick. He reaches for your arm, stopping you in your tracks. You turned around, looking to see what he wanted from you.
He gives you his tote bag. He quickly slings it on your shoulder after noticing your slow reaction. He removes his hoodie, gaining gasps from you.
"What are you doing, Jungwon?" He grabs the tote bag strap and drops the hoodie into your arms. While you fiddled with the material of his hoodie, he held onto the tote bag. He looks at you and smirks slightly.
“What? Do I have to put it on you now? Like I did when I helped you put on the scarf?" His voice was teasing, and deep down inside he wished you had said yes. He didn't know where the confidence came from—he probably just wanted to see you blush. Even though you were at a loss for words, you still didn't put on that hoodie. He reaches back for his hoodie, only to put it on you. He inserts both of his hands into the clothing, making it easier for him to put on you. When he put it on your head, you stuffed your arms into the sleeves.
He lets you do the rest, you pull the hoodie down to your stomach. His hoodie was quite large—he must prefer baggy clothing. Jungwon smiles fondly at you while you're all comfortable. You looked adorable in his hoodie—why is he like this?
Ba bump. Ba bump. Your heart beats faster with each stride. You want to kneel down in the middle of the sidewalk at the mere thought of you wearing this. As you’re making up random scenarios in your head, you hear a faint purring sound. You scanned around the area, looking for the source of the sound.
A black cat can be seen moving toward the lamp post. As you drew nearer to the cat, you gasped in awe. Jungwon keeps an eye on you from a distance, hoping the stray cat won't hurt you in any way. As you knelt down, you cooed to get the cat's attention. The cat slowly makes its way towards you, letting you easily pet it.
You gave it a little scratch under the head, and it purred in answer. As you continue to pet the kitten, Jungwon unexpectedly reaches into the bag. He approaches you and lowers himself alongside you.
Click! When the polaroid camera made a loud noise, you unexpectedly turned to face Jungwon. He takes out the polaroid and fans it in hopes of getting a photo. Once the image shows up, a small smile creeps onto his face. “Didn’t it turn out nice?” He shows you the polaroid, allowing you to see you and the cat. You said with a smile, “Where did you get that camera from?”
“I’m just a magician.”
“Oh cut that out.”
“Seriously though, I wanted to take pictures of us earlier. I forgot about it until now.”
“Then let’s do it now.” You motion with your hand for him to get closer. He is now crouched next to you, wondering what you’ll ask him to do next. You tug his sleeve lightly, making him move even more near you. You carefully picked up the cat and placed it into your arms. You held it with one arm while the other was free. You hold out a peace sign, waiting for Jungwon to snap a quick picture.
He notices that you’re ready and extends his arm into the air. He pressed the button twice, the sounds of the polaroid coming out was heard. He smiles at the picture—it looked like you two were owners of one cat. It was like you guys were in a small little family.
“Can I use that camera real quick?” Getting a yes from him, you grabbed his camera. He sipped his coffee as you held up the device. The light hits his eye, making him blink his eyes a bit. You took the polaroid, satisfied with the outcome.
“I’m keeping your polaroid.” You told him, showing him his picture one last time before putting it into the back of your phone.
“Only if you allow me to keep yours.”
“Deal.”
Tumblr media
You reached his house first—but he wanted to walk you back home. So, instead of refusing, you let him come along. Before entering the front door, you looked at him one more time.
“Thank you for today, Won.”
He smiles, “Thank you for making my night better. Don’t get yelled at, alright?”
“You too. Goodnight!”
You say your goodbyes as you enter the house, him slowly walking away. You moved slowly up the stairs, closing your room door behind you. You took another look at the polaroids—you and Jungwon in one, and just Jungwon in the other. You collapsed onto your bed, giggling a little too loudly.
Meanwhile, Jungwon delicately held the two polaroids. He decides to put them in a glass frame and display them on his desk. He sits on his bed, looking at the photos you took.
Tonight was the day you realized you both liked each other.
A lot.
004 — LETTERS, LETTERS, LETTERS!
It wasn't surprising to hear your mother yelling your name. She always does that when she needs something done for her or wants to talk about school. You removed your earbuds after hearing a faint noise.
“WHAT?” You responded by yelling back at her. There was a brief pause before she continued. "YOU RECEIVED SOMETHING FROM JUNGWON!" You were perplexed—what had Jungwon gotten you?
You took a brief break from your homework to look for your mother. When you walked downstairs, you noticed her smirking slightly. You notice a white envelope in her hands when you look at her strangely. She hands you the letter quietly, allowing you to read the words "To: YN <3, From: Your Won!" You took it from her hands with a slight smile.
"Did my dear receive a love letter?" Your mother made you laugh, causing you to roll your eyes. "I did not."
"No matter what you say, the drawings on the envelope say otherwise." She exits the kitchen and goes to her room. You dashed upstairs to your room after she left. You sat in your chair and carefully examined the envelope. You flipped it over and noticed a slew of doodles on the blank side. There were hearts, smiley faces, and whatever else you could think of.
You carefully ripped the washi tape off, hoping not to tear the envelope apart. You noticed a letter, as expected. You took it out, stickers strewn across your desk. You quickly opened it, skimming over the words.
To… YN !
hihi! It's Jungwon, your next-door neighbor :]
Okay, enough with the greetings. Anyway, you might be wondering why you got this letter, so I'm here to tell you!
I think writing letters to each other would be a lot of fun, and we live right next door, so why not? When we can't call or, who knows, when we lose our wifi... We can use these letters! (Jk, I'm just trying to improve my writing...I think it's getting worse.)
all jokes!! I'm sure this letter is becoming increasingly difficult to read. But don't worry—our future letters will not be like this. (hopefully).
So, don't be afraid to leave a few letters nearby—I promise to read them all and keep them safe. (If you send one back, I'll show you proof!)
For the time being, goodbye :)
waiting your letter hehe ^^
From... your only won <3!
You squealed to yourself after rereading the letter several times. Unfortunately, your mother walks in on you doing so. She slowly raises her brow, looking at you and your reaction a few seconds ago. "Look at who's happy. Look, who helped you feel this way about a guy?"
"Oh, please, Mom, stop." You said this while covering your face with your hands. "Don't worry, I've got your back!" Besides, there's a reason I forced you to accompany me that day." You cringe as she sends you a wink. She laughs and walks out of your room with what she needs.
You looked over at your desk, where all of your writing supplies were piled up in the corner. You took out a piece of paper and a pen. These supplies will be put to good use.
You're writing a letter to the boy next door instead of doing your homework.
So productive.
005 — LOVE IS STRESSFUL
Without a doubt, Jungwon was going crazy every day. He worries that one day his heart may spring out of his chest, and seeing you every day didn't help. Almost everyone is aware of his and your romantic interest. And you and him? too terrified to act at all. You guys actually believe you're doing it slowly and carefully, which is a giant lie.
“Hm.. so—Ow!” One of his friends, Sunoo, hit Jungwon with a notebook. “What’s my dearest friend thinking hard about?”
"Not much at all." He sighed and admitted that he had been lying. He was debating whether to ask you out or not; perhaps he would postpone asking you out for a while.
“No need to lie.” He was exposed by Sunoo, who forced Jungwon to concede defeat. “I know you’re worried about ruining your ‘friendship’ with her, but maybe it’s better to get your feelings off your chest before it’s too late.”
“Right.” Jungwon sighed. He closed his eyes and ran his hands through his hair. This was simply too much for him. He only had to confess, which shouldn't be too difficult, right? Wrong—the anxious feeling reappeared.
"However, I'm not sure about my feelings." Sunoo rolled his eyes as watched him lie straight through his teeth. "Jungwon, are you serious? Everyone knows you two have something going on at this point—hey, if I didn't know you two, I'd think you two were dating!" Sunoo rambles on, forcing Jungwon to take in everything.
“You’re in denial. Too much denial.” Sunoo walked back and forth, an open palm and a fist hitting against it each time. He appeared to be far more stressed than Jungwon—what was Sunoo up to?
"You know, Jungwon is constantly in denial. Ever since she showed up." Niki appears from nowhere, snickering. The sounds he makes then fade as a result of Jungwon's glare. "Calm down, I was joking." He raises his hands, signaling his surrender. Jungwon rolls his eyes and settles back into his chair.
How should he approach you? He wanted this moment to be perfect not only for him, but also for you. But he knew he had to act quickly. Sunoo was right.
Just maybe, Jungwon will finally have a Valentine's Day date this year.
006 — TASTE OF VICTORY
Today was a big day. Jungwon finally mustered the courage to ask you out. That doesn't mean he isn't scared—his palms are sweating. He's nervously biting his nails and looking at his phone screen every time it lights up.
Ding! A text message. When he sees the contact name, he grabs his phone quickly. "future gf <3" was displayed, prompting him to take a deep breath in. Every day, seeing your text messages was nerve-racking. He reads the words "in front of your house rn!" as he clicks on your message. He rushes out of his room, opening the front door for you.
He opens the door to reveal you standing there. You give him that big smile he wishes he could see every day. He lets you in first, then walks up the stairs right behind you. He observes you as you relax on his bed. He's all over the place while you're calm.
"So, what do you want to do?" You broke the silence with your words. "Anything you want." He says. He needed to lighten the mood by playing video games or doing crafts—anything to calm his nerves.
"All right then." You handed him the video game console. "In Mario Kart, I'm going to beat you." You smiled at him, and he smirked back. "I'd like to see you give it a shot."
Tumblr media
It was about time that he should confess. He notices you reading a book from his shelves. You were reading together, which you did frequently after playing games. "Let's listen to some music." You respond with a hum, forcing him to say something quickly. "Of course, to listen while reading." Okay, he's pretty smooth with it.
He hands you an earbud and starts playing a song he chose after hours of deliberation last night. He chose ‘I WANT U BABY’ by STAYC, a song that relates to his current situation. He kept an anxious eye on you as you turned the pages of the book. He probably assumed you wouldn't be paying attention to the lyrics, but you would. You were always interested in the songs he played around with you. Jungwon was never the type to make a big move first, unless he really wanted to.
How do you know that? You don’t know—you guess people seem to pay more attention to their crushes instinctively.
Playing it off normal, you just stayed silent and listened to the song.
Even if I toss and turn in my sleep, when I wake up.
I smile today due to your words from that day too
When did this start? Insane (-sane)
It's funny because it's similar to what both of you are going through right now. Every time he compliments you, it follows you wherever you go. Where did this blossoming feeling come from? The exact same question you tried to ask yourself.
Now I feel I'm floating all day
Everything seems to be floating, like a dream, yeah
Everything feels like a dream—as if he's not real. Everything appeared to be too good to be true.
I want you, baby
On a starry night, I want you to pick a star for me
Just want you, baby
Your cheeks warmed up as you recognized the lyrics. Isn't it amusing that you went stargazing a few weeks ago? Is he trying to tell you something? Is it all just a coincidence?
I want you to fill my empty heart up, I love ya
'Cause I'm crazy in love, crazy in love, I'm crazy in love
Crazy in love with star
If only he knew you were crazy in love with him too.
I want you baby
On a night like this
I knew that you were thinking 'bout me
He’s pretty much reading your mind at this point. Yes, you did want him—you hoped he caught the signal from you. You’re just humming along to prevent awkwardness.
Tonight will end, but I'm fine
I'll shine on you and me
Love might be a little bit foolish, but all right
You could be my only star
This song really hits home. You kept listening, feeling as if you could relate to every word. There was a brief pause after the song ended. You smiled, not wanting to get your hopes up, and said, "That was a really good song." Jungwon was nervous but relieved when you finally made eye contact with him.
“You think so?” You nodded, making him smile shyly.
“I picked that song for you.” He’s fiddling with his fingers, while you pretend to be clueless. “Hm?”
“Did you pay attention to the lyrics?” He pretends to fix his sleeves, trying to say what he wanted to say to you. “Those lyrics are the same thing I wanted to tell you.” You were shocked because you had been waiting for this for a while. You admire Jungwon's decision to confess since he was always such a shy person.
“Jung-“
He spoke quickly and cut you off, saying, "It's okay if you don't feel the same way, I just wanted to tell you this before it was too late." He gives you a frightened face since he undoubtedly expects you to reject him.
“I feel the same, Jungwon. I like you too.” You extended your hand and clasped his with your own. He was going to experience heartache because of the red color of his cheeks. You both hesitantly exchange glances while allowing the space to become silent.
What are we, then? He looks at you while clearing his throat. "Whatever you like, Won." You look at each other with admiration in your eyes.
As your faces move closer, your foreheads touch. He brings you further closer by placing his hand on your chin. Then, he places his soft lips on your lips. It was exactly right—not too fast, not too slow. You were both simply moving at your own rate.
After that, you two started to break apart while clearly blushing. It felt just right for Jungwon—the taste of victory. He tastes the strawberry lip balm you applied as he licks his lips.
“I’m gonna need to borrow that lip balm.” He chuckles, getting a shy response from you.
“You and I on Valentine's Day?” You answered yes when he asked. “You’re my first date, by the way.” Being your first, his heart flutters with happiness.
“I’m glad.”
You rested your head on his shoulder, playing around with his fingers. With the earbuds still in, he plays the song one more time.
“This will be our song now.” He smiles like a fool, while you laughed at him.
“Our song only.”
007 — YOUR MOON, HIS STAR
Finally, the day you've been looking forward to has come. It was Valentine's Day, a day you didn't usually celebrate. You never went on a date; you just hung out with your friends.
But this time, you actually got a date, and it was with your ideal guy. He is essentially everything you could ever want. It has been two weeks since you two started dating. He still tries to be with you everyday and leaves you love letters in your mailbox. Sometimes, you can’t even believe he’s yours.
You two have yet to tell your friends, but you will do so today. Although you were both anxious, the time had come for you to make your relationship known by them. They were already suspicious of you guys, so informing them now would be better before they discover it for themselves.
“You ready?” When you nodded in response to his query, he squeezed your hand firmly. “I bet they are gonna freak out.” Swinging his arm back and forth, you laughed. “I can see them from here…and why is Niki wearing a fish hat?”
“At least we had no trouble finding them.” As you moved toward the friend group, you spoke. When he sees you two holding hands, Niki is the first to catch you and lets out a startled gasp. He points at your hands with one hand while covering his mouth with the other.
The others soon catch on and begin to gasp. “FINALLY!!” Sunoo applauds, making the other people around him chuckle. “Congrats!” Liz says with a smile.
“Was sort of anticipating this”, While donning heart-shaped sunglasses, Leeseo remarks. “Hurry—let's go on some rides!” After putting on heart accessories, the group bolted off, heading to a ride they had their eye on.
As soon as you noticed Jungwon was exhaling, you turned to face him. “I’m glad that went smoothly.”
“Of course it would—they supported us in the beginning.”
“Oops, really?”
“Yes, I'll fill you in on everything when we finally catch up with them. Let's go, shall we?”
“Of course.”
Tumblr media
“That roller coaster was fun!” Liz exclaims, locking arms with Leeseo.
“It really was—oh and Sunoo looked like he was about to pass out there!”
“Shut up Niki! This is literally why you don’t have a Valentine’s date!”
“Hey!”
You laughed along with them until you came across a merchandise store. "Ooh, let's stop by!" When you walk into the store, everyone walks in with you. It was a small but comfortable space. You split up into pairs to see if there was anything you wanted to buy. While you're amazed by everything in the store, a specific item catches your boyfriend's eye.
He taps your shoulder before lightly dragging you by your arm. He points to the silver star and moon necklaces, as well as the matching bracelets. "Wow, this is gorgeous!" You examined the jewelry by bringing it closer to your face.
"I think we should get it because it reminds me of us."
“You think so? Why?”
"If you like stars, you'd be my star, and I'd be your moon. I believe the moon and stars complement each other." He says, causing you to flush. "Then I'll agree with you."
"All right, I'll get it for us. We will get each other’s bracelets but keep our own necklaces that represent us. Just so we have something to remind us of each other wherever we go."
"You're so adorable, Won."
"Your adorable boyfriend only," he says shyly.
"All right, I cringed."
“Come on, you knew that was a good one. See you’re blushing right now!”
“No I’m not!”
"Whatever you say!" he chuckles. “I’m checking things out; you can keep looking."
Tumblr media
You and your friends wanted to take pictures after a couple of rides and shopping. You came across three photo booths, all of which were empty. You asked your friends what they wanted to do. You only caught a glimpse of Niki smirking, which turned you and Jungwon around.
Your friends pushed you and Jungwon into the same booth, leaving you both perplexed. “What?”
“What?” Niki raises a brow. "The lovebirds must be in the same booth! Take pictures with him first, yn—you're his Valentine's date!" His voice fades as he enters a different booth.
You chuckled at his words as you straightened your hair. "All right, let's take a few pictures!"
You both decided on a photo strip with a light pink border and white hearts all over it. In no time, you both found props to use.
One. You both are wearing heart sunglasses, making peace signs as well. You both were close together—your faces were touching.
Click!
Two. Pushing the glasses to the top of your head, you made a hand heart with Jungwon. He completed your heart, with a heart sticker with him.
Click!
Three. You both grab the paper mustaches, holding the stick attached to it. You held it close to your face, so did he. He made a fake gun with his free hand, making you do the same as well.
Click!
Four. You quickly grabbed his waist once the 10 second timer appeared again. You brought him closer to you, making him flustered. You press your lips against his cheek, feeling his dimple appear.
Click!
When you’re finished taking pictures, he takes both photo strips from the booth. He gives you one copy and keeps the other. He smiles as he looks at the picture. "Another picture for my room." You noticed his cheeky smile and couldn't help but smile along with him.
You reached out for his hand again, grabbing his attention. He kisses the crown of your head, getting a small giggle from you. “You know, I’m glad you moved in next door.”
“I’m glad too.” He looks at you again, smiling, this time showing his teeth. You couldn't help but want to pinch his cheeks right then and there. He takes your hand in his and lightly kisses it. Oh, how deeply you both loved each other.
“I love you, my moon.”
“I love you more, my star.”
