Officially the most niche piece of art I've ever posted.
A promotional image for this fic (no I'm not the author) and a tribute to Generally Pooky and Krimsonrogue who gifted me and a dear friend of mine with many a happy hour of bad book bashing.

I think the reason I have such a hard time reconciling my faith in Christianity, even the slightest bit, is because of all the atrocities committed in the attempt to convert others.
I'm not here to bash anyone else's faith. I'm not saying good hasn't been done in the name of Christianity. All I'm saying is that, the Christians today, who are welcoming lgbtq people into their religion, have to be okay with us saying no.
Just because you accept us doesn't mean you get to convert us.
No matter how bright and hopeful a picture you paint of your god in front of me today doesn't mean I can't see the trail of blood and tears behind you leading to me. This "acceptance" is coming from a group of people who "accepted" the natives as they crushed them and stole their land. From the people who "accepted" pagans by crusufying and drowning the ones who wanted to live in their own ways. The people who "accepted" those in the Middle East and waged war on those who didn't want to convert, over and over and over.
I know it's slightly reductive. But please.
Even if you accept us, you still have to be okay with us saying no.
Just because you accept us doesn't stop people who believe in the same God you do, from hurting us in order to get us to think more like you.
We want co-existance, not assimilation. And we can do it peacefully. That last bit is what Christians seem to have trouble with.
You can accept us, but do it without assimilating us this time, without changing us to be a more palettable brand of different, without changing how we live, and move on peacefully so we can all live and die in our own quiet, happy lives.
Too many Christians fail to understand the entire concept of unconditional love that their religion is supposedly built on.
Humans are supposed to love each other, care for one another, and look after the world we inhabit unconditionally. Saying "I love you if you worship our god of love" is still a condition.
