To Be Alone With You

Raiden was champion of Earthrealm—that came with a prestige he hadn’t expected; and a prestige he didn’t want.

He wanted nothing more than to return to the Academy and continue his practices there.

But so many wanted to meet him, to challenge him, and to learn from him.

As he was once again swarmed by crowds, he felt them push around him and push Kung Lao away.

And as the attention increased, the time with Kung Lao decreased.

Raiden could see him in the corner of his vision, at first. But even then, Kung Lao began to fade from view.

He wanted nothing more than to just be alone...alone with Kung Lao.

Time passed and he was expected to do more and more—help out in Outworld, help keep Earthrealm safe. Kung Lao had his duties as well and they had little to do with Raiden now.

Until one day he was able to sit in the shade of a blossoming cherry tree. The petals were falling with the gentle wind. But by then, he was with Kung Lao in his memory only.

I really wanted to give a good explanation for this piece ,since I don’t talk much about what happens in the beginning of my story that leads up to Mira and Warp’s relationship.

So first thing, my story takes place a few years after the show, time has changed a few things and I kinda place the opening of the story right in the midst of Warp realizing he’s been ratted out to Zurg, who now knows that Warp’s been working undercover with Buzz to stop this plan Zurg’s has been working on.

So yes, a good portion of this story is Warp’s redemption arch. Also important information, well I think so anyway, is this is a decision Warp makes on his own, he reaches out to buzz himself, there are things that lead up to warp wanting to make this decision I’ll get into another time . Anyway in this moment in time is relatively soon after Warp has left Zurg and word as spread like wild fire on both good and evil sides about it, obviously Zurg has a death rule about leaving, so there is a pretty large bounty on Warp’s head and no warp decides not to relocate and hide, he looks at it as it’s his karma, he caused it and he needs to fix what he’s fucked up. As for the good side other ,than buzz

(and commander, kinda, he had to be involved with buzz and warp working undercover for the last year or so to get more information about this plan zurg was trying to do…no one else in star command knew about it)

No one trusts warp, for obvious reasons, Mira even tried to talk buzz out of continuing the mission (once she learned about it, which is also one reason she kinda get put in said mission….). But as shown in the comic, Buzz and Warp grew up together, not a lot of people know that, even commander thought they met in the academy. ( @the-musical-cc and @papermacheta had a lot of part coming up with that head cannon) Buzz has a deeper understanding of warp and his past (again not many people know cause warp doesn’t like to talk about his childhood) which is why he holds on to the idea that warp would come back, he knows the other side of him that no one else has seen or met.

As for being in the hospital, again karma, well to warp anyway. The arm Zurg used for Warp was experimental, in other words worked when attached to a body however, not built with materials that should be attached to a body, so the arm was slowly poisoning warp…and kinda also rotting his shoulder off (or well starting to,I don’t even wanna know how heavy the damn thing was)

Now as for the song! I feel this song really captures that moment in time perfectly,Taylor isn’t signing this about herself, she is signing it as a warning to someone. It really fits the idea of buzz putting this out as a warning to warp, (so yes this song is from Buzz to warp) he has Warp’s back,but he knows warp needs to watch his back himself, he knows people will use his past against him, rather it’s his mistakes or traumas from his childhood.
