I've been thinking about the tracklist for Golden, especially the writing credits. I confess that I sort of expected JK to write or at least co-write some of the tracks, so I was surprised that he didn't put pen to paper on anything.

Then I thought about what he's said about himself. He's said that he doesn't think he's good at writing songs, because he can't write lyrics that he likes. He constantly says how unintelligent he thinks he is, and I think the idea of writing for an actual album was too intimidating. He wasn't convinced that he would even release an album at all, according to what Bang Si Hyuk said in his interview. By the time they started presenting him with songs that other people had written, time was running out and he wouldn't have had the time and space to write and record an LP-length collection of his own songs.

He picked "Seven" and "3D" because he thought they'd be fun to sing, and, let's face it, they're catchy as hell and were always destined to be hits. As for the other songs, I would expect that he chose them for their sonic qualities and potential success, like how he selected the first two. He wants to be a hit, both in Korea and in the wider world. It stands to reason that he would want songs that were hit-worthy with a Western pedigree, at least to some extent.

So I was reconciling myself to the idea that the songs wouldn't be heartfelt and the lyrics wouldn't be illustrative of him at all. But then...

Then I thought about how for generations, singers have been interpreting songs written by others, but putting their own emotions and soul into the words. I thought about how I have turned to other writers - poets, lyricists, thinkers - to express my feelings when my own words were too weak, or too clumsy, or when I was feeling too much to let words flow at all, my emotions standing like a log jam in my throat.

Maybe these songs weren't written by JK, but he found something in them that resonated with him. Maybe it was their hit potential. Maybe it was their sound or their "fun" quotient. And maybe it was the lyrics, which might have been saying things he couldn't find a way to say for himself, especially in English.

You can't tell me that JK wasn't feeling some kind of way when he recorded his cover of "Falling." You can't tell me that he didn't feel the words for "Begin," even though Namjoon wrote them. The songs on this album will be helping him to display parts of himself, and he will sing these the way he always sings: with emotion, with dedication, with beauty and with intention.

I'm looking forward to the album. Even if he didn't write the songs, they're still going to give him a way to express himself, and I'm here for that expression.

Quick disclaimer: I know my interpretations of these songs and these performances will be subjective, but that's the way art has always been. Songs are heard by each person individually, colored by each individual's past experiences, present emotions and future hopes. We all live alone in a way, because nobody else will ever hear or feel or see things the way you do, or the way I do, or the way JK does. Humanity is connected but separated by the very singular, isolated perceptions of life that we all have. My interpretations may not be yours, but to me, they will be valid.

Let's give "Golden" a chance. I think it's got the potential to set the world on fire, because JK is destined for greatness. He always has been. It's time to let him shine.

What's your favorite angst song for Robstar/Dickkory?

I have some options in mind that I believe capture those moments when the two are separated (not necessarily on a break up manner but more in a “Dick has a globetrotting Bat-mission” or most likely “Kory has to go to Tamaran for some Royal/Family business by herself” scenarios)

“For No One” by the Beatles (because of Course)

“Dear God” by Avenged Sevenfold (it’s a blend of country rock style riffs, a metal solo and lyrics about keeping a loved one safe at home while the person is on the road)

“You Belong with Me” by Taylor Swift (somewhat a weird choice compared to the other choices but think of this as the song from Kory’s POV)

I’m sure @bluerene can comment on this since they like Taylor Swift

3. Song to remind of summertime? Shine from Barbie and the 12 Dancing Princesses : Thumbs up for the nostalgia factor but also how I remember watching this song's lyric video so much with my cousins that summer as a kid

7. Song to drive to? Off the Chain by Selena Gomez : Been blaring it a lot lately but I swap songs so many times while driving. Basically anything that makes me pumped up gets a tick on this list.

11. Song that I never get tired of?

Paparazzi by Lady Gaga : The amount of times I've requested this song to be played in my friends' cars make me think I'll never get tired of it. Haunted by Taylor Swift is a dead runner up though! That song gives me serotonin like no other

18. Song from the yr I was born? Whenever Wherever by Shakira : such a banger!

19. Song that makes me think of life? Turbulence by P!nk : It makes me motivated to try new things and to not give up on myself when the world is ready to knock me down. It also makes me think I should remember to breathe when things feel turbulent or chaotic.

16. One of my fav classical songs? Clair de Lune by Claude Debussy : It feels so dreamy and sad that it's comforting to me.

im just saying that if i had been in charge of s6 of doctor who, i would have fully leaned into the horror of amy's pregnancy, the loss of her own agency in it, the way she was used as a vessel to create a child she would never hold again, amy pond who never indicated once that she even wanted a child and was made to have one anyway against her will, and once they were done using her, they even took away any choice she might make about it in the future.

and i would have had this be a factor in amy and river's relationship going forward. how do you interact with a child you never knew, never got to decide if you wanted to have, and she's also already your friend, you love her as this miraculous, insane woman who has saved your life more than once. she's always known more about you than you could about her, but now you know exactly how much she was keeping from you. it's not like she could have told you, could have stopped it, but all this time, she was your friend and she was your daughter, and how do you learn to live with her?

For my birthday last year, I purchased a particularly special item for myself as a treat; a Pro Killstreak Strange Phlog. A wretched artifact to be sure, and one that does not gain the approval of your peers when you become proficient with it. Because of this, I named her "The Stinker" as that's what you typically call a bad joke, and paired her with the most obnoxious cosmetic loadout I could muster. When I equip this loadout, I become evil, and I cannot be held accountable for my vicious deeds.

Here's the strange count on it 4 months in to having her (give or take a month and a half break from the game I took during late fall, plus the fact that I only use it about 50% of the time, the other 50% being the classic puff-and-sting, my favorite loadout), as well as 3 particularly satisfying rampages, two with uber, one without.

Oh my gosh. *reads list of questions* Huh, okay okay, let’s see here…

Okay as far as ant names go, I have a big list here. Be sure to check the replies for more names. But yeah, I’m a nerd, so I try to think of nerdy reference names where I can use the word ANT in them.

Do I have nicknames? No, no not really. Tony will call me every small character reference under the sun though like Thumbelina, Stuart Little, whatever. I don’t really think those count though.

A day in the life of Scott? Ummm that…depends on the day. Not to sound sassy, but seriously. My days don’t always follow a routine. Sometimes my ADHD brain needs routine, but that doesn’t always work out. My days usually have a combo of Cassie, X-Con work, Avenging, podcasts, hobbies, cooking and eating, nerdy stuff, uhhhh, sleep, personal hygiene thrown in somewhere in there. But honestly, I never know what the day will look like, ya know?

My childhood? Oh wow, okay that’s a big open-ended one. Sooooo born in Florida. Loved there until I was eleven. My parents got divorced, and me, my mom, and my big sister left my shitty father behind and we moved from one place to another across the country because my mom is what my Gigi calls a nomadic spirit and she can’t settle down to save her life. I moved 5 times between ages 11-16 (2 times in one year) and I’ve lived in St. Louis, Boston for 6 months, New York City, Charleston, and finally San Francisco where I finished our high school and stayed there for college at Cal-Tech. My sister lives in Pasadena, and my mom lives in Seattle now…I think.
