Does anyone else have a hard time taking Baela and Rhaena seriously on that show?

They have no personalities, they barely speak and are overall insignificant. They just stand there.

Wasn’t Baela supposed to have short cropped hair? Wasn’t she supposed to wear pants and act all boyish?

Why is she wearing dresses, acting all proper and her hair is all long? Is there some kind of rule that black women on screen can’t be boyish? Am I missing something?

Instead of catering to “political correctness” and “imposed diversity”, they could have made the effort to actually give them the personalities they were so clearly described to have in the book!

Well, here’s the King of Deception himself, D-10!

I’m thinking of giving him the name Mephistopheles Dietrich, which roughly translates from the German demon of “liar/falsehood plasterer,” and “the people’s ruler,” which I thought was pretty fitting for this psychotic demon!

And the reason why D-10 is called “D-10” is because he has collected the 10 masks of Destruction (10 powerful masks that have their own unique catastrophic abilities) and take care not to mess with his “pinchy” it can rip solid steel apart like a feather filled pillow!

D-10 belongs to the Oligœswoīllk/ÜUk classes!

Finally has been a full year since I started listening

YES alicent is a victim of manipulation and circumstance. YES she is the product of her environment.

however.

alicent knows her father orchestrated her marriage to the king. she knows her father is the reason she never had a choice of husband. she knows viserys both chose to marry her and to give rhaenyra the freedom that alicent was never afforded.

and yet?

she never blames or criticizes them at all. instead she bears a grudge against rhaenyra. and, yeah, rhaenyra has her own issues- she's pretty self-centered and not especially sympathetic to alicent's situation, but why should she be? from her perspective alicent PLOTTED IN SECRET TO MARRY HER FATHER, remember?

she also reacted with astonishing venom to the idea that rhaenyra slept with someone, and no, you can't pin that on rhaenyra 'lying' to her. alicent was so angry, looked at her with such disdain, i would've lied too if my best friend was looking at me like that

alicent has consistently shown disdain for rhaenyra/targaryen customs, actually. she pushes her to engage in religious practices she doesn't believe in, which seems innocuous at the time, but later she sneers 'you targaryens have queer customs' with open disgust. the only difference between those conversations is alicent's status

she has power over rhaenyra now, and she's been comfortable exerting it in casual ways from the beginning, like sending away the singer in the godswood. again, the individual act is innocuous, but it's part of a trend, and it's a weird way to treat your best friend. it's especially weird and uncomfortable because rhaenyra is clearly unhappy about it but just takes it anyway out of affection/respect for her bff and her father

alicent also consistently refuses to talk to rhaenyra. the only time she discusses a concern with her is the rumors about daemon, and that's not a conversation, it's an aggressive, vitriolic accusation, where she makes clear that her support for rhaenyra is conditional. she doesn't talk about the plan to marry rhaenyra's fucking father, she doesn't talk about her unhappiness in the marriage, she doesn't talk to her about the safety of her children. she skips straight to 'declaring open war'

alicent consistently looks down on rhaenyra and blames her for otto's actions. that's on her. that is her exercising agency toward being an asshole.
