クラークとケリー聴き比べ。

「Sonny Clark Trio」'60、「Wynton Kelly」'61

二人ともコルトレーンと共演歴が有るので、どうしてもサイドメンとして一緒くたにしがちなので、ほぼ同じ時代のトリオの演奏をチョイスしました。

クラークのTime盤の音質はケリーのVeeJay盤と比べるとちょっとチープですが、これはこれで割と好きな音です。この人のアクセントが一々「カーン！」と突き抜ける様に響きわたります。3 on 4のポリリズムも結構弾くんだ…とか普段気付かない事がトリオだとよく分かります。ローチのドラミングもお見事。

一方、ケリーはリラクゼーションって感じ。ドラムがコブってのもありますが、優雅な感じがします。エバンスとはピアニストとしてお互い尊敬し合ってたと聞きます。マイルスのレコーディングではブルージーなパートを任されてたわけですが、それでもエバンスと極端に異なってたらアルバムに統一感が無いよな…と思います。なので白人的な要素も僕は感じます。

オリジナルで攻めるクラークとスタンダード中心のケリー。ひょっとしたらブルーノート盤で比較すべきだったかな。でも、好きなアルバムなので…笑

どうしてもクラークは「Sonny's Crib」とか「Cool Struttin'」、ケリーは「Kelly Great」とか「Kelly Blue」を選びがちだけど、ホーンの入ってないトリオも良いですね。ピアノのソロに集中出来ます。サックスが入ってないと仕事の為ではないリスニングにもなるし（笑）
