Time for a round up of my favorite things ever: old Gilmore Girls promos! If you’ve never seen these, you’re in for a treat because I laugh so hard every time.
Tumblr media
This is my personal favorite. You’ll notice that green is a theme in the later season promos. Luke peering around the corner is the best part of this 💀
Tumblr media Tumblr media
More green! Also, more creepy faces and bad editing. Sorry for another Christopher promo, but the shitty editing and the way they make it seem Lorelai has never heard the word fiancé before is perfect advertising.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Luke and Lorelai advertising is good as well. Here Luke is again, hiding behind Lorelai. I also love how Luke is never dressed how he actually dresses in the show. Also, let’s just appreciate the way Lorelai is holding that apple.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I found this promo twice, once with Logan and once with Dean, I’m not sure which one I like better…
Tumblr media
I’ve found that the earlier season Gilmore Girls promos are almost exclusively in black and white, which really adds to the drama. I know this is supposed to be dramatic, but it just looks like Dean and Jess are about to kiss.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here are my favorite Jess promos…clearly he learned how to hide behind a Gilmore girl from Luke.
Those are a few of my favorites (there are plenty more lol), I hope you all enjoyed :)

literati s1 au where lorelai still takes rory, paris, madeline and louise to the bangles concert in nyc and rory finds herself sitting next to a guy with a book on his lap, writing notes in the margins. when the concert ends and madeline & louise does leaves with the older boys, the boy that sat next to rory (the one she couldn’t stop looking at), says he knows the place they went to and he can show lorelai, sookie, paris and rory the way. while they walk, rory finds herself getting a bit closer to him, paris behind them and sookie and lorelai kind of gathering the whole group. so rory turns to him and she is very shy and nervous and she goes “i just realized you never told me your name” and he is so quiet and then he goes “jess” “i’m rory” “yeah, i’ve figured that when your mom called you earlier.” “huh” but they also talk about books and then paris gets into the conversation to have her input on the book he was reading and it’s just rory, jess and paris in nyc debating about books while lorelai and sookie are worried sick about madeline and louise. and when they do find the girls, jess is basically like “well, i guess i’ll see you around, rory” and he gives her his phone number to call him (and she does)

I’m watching season one of Gilmore Girls and every time Emily shows a little bit of growth, and she and Lorelai start getting along, it just hurts so bad because this is what we could’ve had! A slow, beautiful growth of a complicated character who goes from being selfish and manipulative and controlling to understanding and someone who listens when people speak. And it just. . . never happens. She never grows, never changes. It really sucks. That character arc could’ve been one for the ages. Best of all time. Damn.

A list of reasons why Rory Gilmore is a good person and not the shallow, manipulative person people make her out to be:
Took full responsibility for breaking Paris’s project and offered to help her fix it despite Paris being only rude to her at this point
Didn’t tell anyone that Paris had to take her cousin to the Chilton formal despite Paris taunting Rory/saying Rory couldn’t get a date
Told Paris that she could talk to her if she ever needed anyone to talk to despite the fact that Paris had just exposed Lorelai and Max kissing to the whole school
Encouraged Tristan to ask out Paris because she knew Paris had feelings for him
Helped Paris get ready for her date with Tristan and allowed her to borrow her mother’s clothes
Reassured her mother several times about her relationship with Max
Agreed to a coming out party because it made her grandmother happy
Helped Paris study numerous times despite Paris almost always antagonizing her
Gave Jess a chance and was nice to him when the rest of the town despised him. She even vouched for him/defended him often.
Took partial responsibility for the car accident with Jess instead of letting him take the entire blame, which the entire town was doing (and she reassured Luke as well).
Dyed Lane’s hair and then also then dyed it again after Lane freaked out (and she even left the Kim house through the window so that Mrs. Kim wouldn’t see her)
Agreed to go with her grandfather to visit Yale to make him happy even though she didn’t really want to and was only interested in Harvard
Apologized to Dean after their break up and took full responsibility for the problems in their relationship (even though it wasn’t all her fault).
Took time out of her busy end of the year schedule (when she was dealing with finals and being valedictorian) to help her grandmother pick out an outfit for her graduation
Went back to Kyle’s house the day after the disastrous party to get Lane’s heavily stained backpack and deliver it to her
Was always super supportive to her friends (Lane with her band, Paris with academics, Lorelai with the Inn, all of them about their relationships, etc.)
Helped her mother throw a baby shower for Sookie (albeit they never got to have said shower).
Took care of Logan when he in the hospital and after even though he hadn’t been the best boyfriend at this point.
Always encouraged Dean to pursue his dreams/passions and told him he could do what he put his mind to.
Anyways this is all I can think of off the top of my head but stop saying Rory Gilmore is a terrible person. Yes, she made mistakes, but everyone does lol

Kind of obsessed with the idea that out of the three questionable pregnancies that S7 of Gilmore Girls gives us, the one that concerns me the most is the one with the fortysomething second time mom who actually wanted a kid.
Sookie and Jackson? Obviously not ideal, but Sookie was a good mom to her first two kids and I never got the impression that she resented Jackson or her third child to the extent that she would take her frustrations out on them, or that she would ever do so if she even had that resentment. In the AYITL era, the third kid is not mentioned, but they seem to be a happy family.
Lane and Zach? Yeah, let's not sugarcoat this. They didn't want the babies initially and Lane has a harder time coming around to her circumstances changing than Zach did. They seemed a lot more positive about the situation once the babies actually came and were able to communicate (!) about what was best for their family. In the AYITL era, Zach is still struggling with art vs survival but Lane seems... absolutely blissful? Her life didn't work out like she thought, but it's not a bad one. They seem to be good parents. Also, Lane has the bohemian mom interior decorating style on point.
Liz and TJ? First of all, they are an absolute mess and have always come off like morons who can't take care of themselves. They have a violent fight when Liz finds out she's pregnant, at which point she throws things at his head, kicks him out of the house, and then cries that she's been abandoned. But hey, it's all cool because she's not going to binge drink this time. Dumps Doula as an infant on Luke at work because "she needs a break" and then does it a second time. Fast forward to the AYITL era and she and TJ are getting ensnared in cults and Jess is coming in from out of town frequently so he and Luke can control the situation. One can kind of infer that one of the main reasons Doula would even remain alive (since AYITL does not explicitly acknowledge her) is because her more stable male extended family members, who have been cleaning up after Liz their entire lives, remain involved in her life.
The whole cult business kind of implies that Doula should probably be in Luke or Jess's care anyway. The situations of the other two couples are imperfect, but they can care for their children. Can Liz and TJ? It's doubtful.

I’m re-watching Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life and I’m realizing why I didn’t like it the first time I watched it. The whole plot doesn’t make sense for the time period. All the things, sans Richard’s death and Sookie being gone, don’t make sense for 10 years after the finale, they make sense for the characters at their season 7 ages. Lorelai and Luke shouldn’t have waited 10 years to discuss kids and marriage, that should have been a season 7 plot. Rory shouldn’t be wandering from home to home and sleeping with an engaged Logan at 32, she should be doing that at 22/23. Jess shouldn’t still be waiting for Rory, they should have figured it by now. Their character development should have continued through the ten years, not gone stagnant.
