Trafalgar Law x Reader: Rumors chap 5 (finale)
"Oy, Traffy where you going?" Luffy asked with food stuffed in his face. "One of my crew mates is missing I'm going to go find them". Law replied. "Hey y/n missing," Nami said. "I saw her she was heading to the beach". Bepo said. So Law headed there to find you. While on the walk Law thought about how your relationship has been going.
Originally he only care about you as a patient who would get better and leave but after finding out you had nowhere to go after leaving home he decided to have you stay as an act of kindness due to the fact you could be useful. He never regretted his decision as you become someone he could be comfortable with. He remembers the times you and him would spend time reading Sora. Over time talk about your goals and the plans for after the one piece. But the one time he couldn't tell you was how much he loved you.
Due to his goals and past, he is afraid of you getting hurt or worse rejection. For all he knows you only see him as your captain and it could ruin your relationship now. Right now, he just wants to find you and make sure you are safe. Finally, he got to the shore and saw you sitting in the sand. "Y/n, why did you leave?" Law asked, you turn around to face him.
"Oh, I'm sorry I just needed to get away from the party scene a bit". You replied. Law saw you looked nervous "What's wrong?" He asked. "It's nothing" you replied, Law knew something was wrong "Just tell me what's wrong, you left and come here obviously because of something bothering you," Law said. You thought about it and decide to ask what was on your mind. "Do you love Robin?" You ask, "What?" Law said surprised.
"You are always with her to the point even other people think you are together," you replied. "What do you mean?" He asked, "At the party, I heard some towns-folks saying they think you two are dating and how great you look together". You said. "It isn't just that time I've heard other people around us say it too at Zou and Wano". You added. "I know it is not my business, it's just I want you to be happy, and I know, it is not my choice who you love". You finished. Law didn't know what it say at first because you just confessed you liked him without fully saying it.
He didn't know whether to feel happy or worried due to how your feeling because of some rumors. "This is why you left, look I'm not in love with Robin and I don't see her any different than the rest of her crew." He started. "Plus she only cares about her crew and the polygraphs, not a relationship" he finished. You heard what he said but the feelings are still negative as you feel he will never like you more than a friend it is just another case of Law not wanting a relationship when you just asked him if he was in love with someone else only for him to say no like usually. Law noticed you were still upset and decided to sit down next to you.
There was a few seconds of silence until he spoke up "I do care for you and as much as you don’t believe it your feelings are reciprocated". He said. You look up at him surprised and realizing he liked you back. You didn't know if he was joking to spite you. Law could tell you didn't believe him so he did something out of the norm for him. He leaned in and kiss you, you were shocked for a few seconds before closing your eyes and leaning further into the kiss. After a few minutes, you broke from the kiss for air and looked into his eyes seeing the love there.
"Would you like to stay here together or go back to the party"? He asked holding you close. You decide to head back to the party. Two of you head back and lucky people were still partying. "Oy, Traffy, you found Y/n". Luffy shouted. Law looked annoyed again but this time he looked back at you with a soft expression.
"Oy, Traffy come get some sake". Zoro said. Law went to get you and him a mug. "Hey there~". You look up seeing one of the gossipers "You look like you could use some company". They said flirty while getting uncomfortably close. "No, thank you I'm fine". You replied stepping back.
"Oh come don't be like that". They kept getting close even when you already said no. "Please stop your too close". You said but they ignored it. "Hey, they said no". You looked to see Law there with a pissed expression. "Butt out we were talking here, go back to your girl". The creep said back pointing to Robin in the corner.
"No, you go away they don't want you near them". He said pushing them aside and holding you close. "Mine". Law growled. "I thought you were dating that hot babe Robin". The creep said. “Who said we were dating, it's just stupid rumors,” Law said annoyed. The creep finally left you alone.
You turn to Law and kiss him on the cheek "Thank you". You said. You two relax with a cup of sake together as everyone enjoys themselves. Later you're going to have some great news for the crew once you're back on the ship.

U write very well and a couple of my favorite parts is reading the characters’ thought processes and the soulmates aspect. Thank you for dropping by with such a lovely message, waking up to this was a perfect start to my day. I'm very glad that you're one of those few people who enjoys the fic and my writing style, it doesn't always please everyone so I'm very happy whenever someone tells me that they like how I write the character's thought process.
I'm not exactly having trouble with the fic or the pairing, I've been adding words to the WIP pretty consistently, but due to certain reasons I don't enjoy being part of the Taiora community anymore and it makes me want to keep my content to myself. With my other ships there is a feeling of acceptance and the freedom to write the characters in whichever way I want which always keeps me motivated to keep going at it.

i’m so done rn 😭 hoseok and oc could’ve been it. hoseok really loved her sm that he was so serious about changing for the better and getting married. and i love how being a great parent to junho, a baby who isn’t even his, is so important to him. they were SO CLOSE to being together. ughhhhhh i want to cry, like i’m being deadass 🥲 now looking back at the chapter where junho’s birthday party occurred, i can’t imagine how much memories and awkwardness that must’ve brought to oc and hoseok…they literally were gonna marry each other!!! oc was in love with both of them, you can’t lie. it’s just the hope of jungkook coming back to her and junho, and also her love for jk obviously, that stopped her from saying yes. she wanted to. she was this close 🤏 but she was cut off from her answer and jungkook showed but and was dramatic and made a scene, per usual 🙄 i’m never gonna get over this 😭 i knew from the beginning that hoseok and oc were never gonna work out but somehow this is the most painful thing of the story to me?
and jungkook…idk where to start. so he was still in love with oc :( it must’ve been really hard for him too. idk what he had to go through while being with yang but probably some bad stuff. and of course it changed him. he let his emotions blind him with the whole situation at the wedding. he was watching hoseok and oc the whole time— ouch. and was somehow convinced that junho was oc’s and hoseok’s kid. that plus everything he’s been through in his life, really pushed him over the edge. yikes, everything he said to oc even offends me. and then he went to sora after? and we found out he’s been wanting to kiss her this whole time?!!?!!? alright, i see how it is mf 🤨 so does that mean he doesn’t really love sora like that because he was only doing it to cope with all his emotions, or did he actually start to love her later on?
and he ruined yoongi and yuri’s wedding! yoongi wasn’t supposed to see his bride yet 😒 but yuri came to comfort junho and oc either way 🫶
i know 😭😭 oc was so so close to making a family with hoseok and then all that changed when jungkook came back. like they could’ve been P E R F E C T 😭 if she said yes they would’ve been happy together till today && probably had some more babies of their own 🥺 exactly 🥺 he treated junho like his own. his fatherly instincts (if that’s a thing) just kicked in and he was there just holding junho when jk was throwing a fit 🥲🫣 that’s why his return at junho’s bday was so…weird and sad for oc !! that was gonna be her husband 😭😭 but he still showed despite it all
she did love hoseok :( she did :( a case of right person, wrong time :(

Okay, I’m going to talk about it because that post got me going. I love Sora’s entire character growth because it is so beautifully done, in my opinion. The story starts when he’s just a kid, he’s still a kid now but 14 is so little in comparison. 14 is so, so, young. He was a child when his world was swallowed whole. He lost his friends, he lost his family (i know normura doesn’t care about parents but i do), he woke up in an unknown world. He was alone and afraid and I love how the novel shows this scene. Where he goes up to a woman there and she’s really somber with her words, and she warns him to not ask people what happened to their home worlds, because everyone in Traverse Town has lost so much. It’s a sad situation, and if it’s scary for the adults who are there then imagine what it must feel like for a kid to wind up there all alone. A kid who’s biggest dream was traveling on a raft with his friends.
Then he meets a group of people who confirm his fears, that those scary shadowy things destroyed his world. And all the people in it. But he ended up in a whole other world and that keeps him going for a while because if he made it out then maybe the others did too. He meets Donald and Goofy and that’s a blessing, it really is. Because Donald and Goofy are everything a child looks for when they’re feeling scared and alone. They’re laughter and joy and comfort. And even Donald being Donald, he still offered that sense of comfort for Sora.
The fact that the Gummiship only runs on happiness only makes it worse for him in the long run, I think. Because if we think about the timeline in the games, it’s only really been like a year and a half (which doesn’t make sense to me but whatever) and so much has happened. So much bad has happened. First of all, Sora has said it time and time again that his friends are his power and I don’t think people really listen to what that means. He’s said it from the beginning and it’s always true. When Donald and Goofy leave him because Riku gets the keyblade, he’s back to feeling like he did in the beginning, because even though the Beast joins him he only goes as far as reaching Belle.
The first thing he sees when reaching the castle is Kairi unconscious. And then he looks up and it’s his best friend turning a weapon on him. At this point, he’s lost everything that matters as far as he knows. He’s no closer to getting his home back, the two friends he’d been searching for were lost to him in different ways, and Donald and Goofy are on whichever side the keyblade is in.
The game ends with him having to say goodbye to both of his best friends. He has no way of knowing that Riku will be okay, Kairi is all by herself on the islands, and it hurts him. But he keeps going because now he has a job to do. he has no choice but to keep going. He’s a kid who has the weight of all the worlds on his shoulder and he’s still scared but at least he isn’t alone anymore.
I’m not going to go on reiterating the plot to every game but a lot of shit has happened. And he’s been scared and angry and sad and he’s never been allowed to feel those emotions. They’re always brushed off by others, or they tell him that it isn’t like him to feel that way. And so he puts on a happy face because that’s what Sora does and what he will continue to do. And remember, this ship runs on happy faces.
Any time he’s feeling down he’ll try to make a joke out of it because he’s not allowed to feel any negative emotion. He really isn’t. And the thing about Sora is that he isn’t resentful at all. He doesn’t harbor any negative feelings towards anyone, even with the Organization, he may dislike them but he still expects them to change. He questions them all the time on their choices and motives, because he just doesn’t get that people can be that cruel.
His conversation with Xigbar in DDD breaks me because he’s so sad knowing that this man and Xehanort knowingly hurt their own friends. AND LET’S THINK ABOUT HIS WORDING THERE. HE THINK THEY’RE ALL FRIENDS. BECAUSE HOW CAN YOU BE A GROUP OF PEOPLE WITHOUT CARING FOR EACHOTHER? He cannot fathom that. Sure, maybe the Organization are on the wrong side but in his head at least they were friends. They’re not kind to Sora and his friends but at least they’re kind to each other.
Sora is a really sensitive kid, and that’s why he crumbles so easily. DDD was the first time that we started to see him crack a little. Crack a little more than usual, because I think the first time he really started to break was in KH2 in Hollow Bastion, while they’re surrounded by heartless and Nobodies. Sora just stops fighting for a minute and he starts doubting everything. Because what are they fighting for if every move they make is just playing into the Organization’s hands? I think that’s when he started realizing that there’s a path that’s been laid out for him and he has no choice but to follow it. And I don’t remember what gets him out of that moment, I believe it’s Donald and Goofy that call out to him? Which again, his friends are literally his reason to keep going.
KH3 is a beautiful game, I genuinely love it so much. But there are moments that started to bug me and it’s not because of “bad writing” it’s because they’re telling the story right. I hated every single time that someone made fun of him for something, I hated when Yen Sid would scold him for not having the power of waking. And if we as the player hadn’t started seeing Sora break, I don’t think it would have bothered me at all. I think it started bothering me because I know that it was starting to affect Sora. That something inside was starting to break.
He sees a lot of death in this game, and it’s the PoC one that impacted me the most, because I think it was the first time that Sora physically reacted to his anger/grief. That’s when he’s really starting to just let those feelings out and as sad as it is to see him sad, I’m so happy that those feelings are coming out in some way.
When they meet Rapunzel and he says that he remembers what it was like to feel so afraid and alone, and that had it not been for Donald and Goofy he doesn’t know what he would have done. When Donald questions him about what he’s saying, Sora snaps out of it. Like oh shit, he’s letting his sadness show so he better hide it quick. So he makes a joke and runs off. Because that’s what he always does whenever he’s feeling anything but joy and optimism.
Anti form and rage form are insane to me. And the fact that they’re two different things is so wild. That is literally his darkness and anger manifested into something. It’s all the stuff he holds down coming out whenever he’s on his last legs. Also, I don’t know if it’s been confirmed that his rage form drips blood, but that’s what it looks like to me AND THAT IS WILD. Rage form deserves it’s own post.
Unlike Riku, he hasn’t had the time to sit with his darkness and his negative feelings. He hasn’t come to terms with them and therefore does not know how to live with them. When he break down crying after all of his friends die in front of him, it’s Riku’s reaction that I love most. Because Riku does it right. You can see that he has the urge to comfort Sora but stops himself. He doesn’t coddle him or feed into his pessimistic thoughts. Instead, Riku offers him truths and it should have been that way from everyone who’s ever tried to comfort Sora when he’s been sad or angry.
And I love Sora’s little speech about Kairi in the end. I love it because I love that he’s frustrated and that he says it. He is so frustrated at this point and he voices that out loud and it’s in a healthy way. He’s not breaking down because of it, he’s just acknowledging that this situation really freaking sucks. And he’s tired of it. It’s the first time we see that from him and it was amazing. I want him to let himself feel those icky feelings.
And although it sucks that Sora’s been separated from his friends but my god am I ready to see how that affects him. And this isn’t me saying that I want him to be this angsty character because no, and he will never be that and it’s one of my favorite things about him that he never lets anything keep him down. But I want to see this character finally deal with these feelings. I want to see him acknowledge that he’s afraid and that he doesn’t feel like he’s worth anything without his friends by his side. I want him to realize why that thought isn’t correct. I want Sora to be able to sit with his doubt and fears and learn how to let those feelings live inside him and still have it be okay.
Anyway, this post is a hot mess but bottom line, let Sora feel 2kforever. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

@kingdomhearts-and-soriku-trash Hi Sarah, I saw your tags asking about the line that made me angry in KH3 so I decided to turn it into a little rant, I hope you don't mind. I doubt I'll say something original since the game has been around for a few years and there's a lot of good fanfics exploring that topic, but well, I'm gonna add my little perspective (although I haven't played ReMind yet, so I probably don't have a full picture).
My biggest problem with KH overall is that Sora as the protagonist is barely allowed to be vulnerable and express negative emotions. The line I mentioned in my tags was this moment:
This line hit me like a truck and drove back and forth over me ten times. I believe that his breakdown and frustration were building up ever since Dream Drop Distance when Sora got punished for falling for Xehanort's trap - something that not only wasn't part of his test, but also something he barely had any control over. A human being can only brush aside negative feelings for so long and Sora has been doing that for years.
Other characters are kind of harsh towards Sora in KH3 laughing at him and casually belittling him more often than ever before. They take Sora's light-hearted and "water off a duck's back" type of personality for granted and never consider he could get hurt by all of this - after all, they're friends, right? Sure, banter and teasing with friends are fun, but there's a line for everything.
Take for example the scene that plays after Monstropolis and Arendelle worlds.
This is probably the most mean-spirited scene in the entire game with everyone, Mickey included, laughing at Sora and it just made me feel bad. Riku was the only one to try and remedy the situation, but in the end what was the point of all of this?
Sora has stated before that he's not that strong, smart or special - just a part of something greater (and he's proud to be that) and from what I've seen his friends seem to unintentionally strengthen this belief. So it only makes sense it ends up eating away at his self-esteem and making him believe his accomplishments are either insignificant or not his own.
And the one thing - arguably the most important thing - Sora is denied is acknowledgement. No one in the whole series acknowledges his feelings and insecurities. No one wants him to be or believe he can be anything else than the happy-go-lucky goofball. When Sora cries, Riku evidently wants to comfort him (the way he reached for him and stopped made me go hnnnnnnnnnn), but in the end he dismisses his pain by saying "You don't believe that" was that gaslighting?/jk I realize the situation was rather dire and not suited for emotional conversations or pep talks, but Sora's confession was never followed up later.
I suppose Nomura wanted to patch it up when Sora escapes the depths of darkness with this line:
A moment earlier Kairi says she simply believed he'd pull through. She tries to say she thinks Sora's strong, but he takes it the wrong way and again believes he's only won thanks to her. It doesn't solve anything - Sora still sees his worth and strength in others and not himself.
Friends' support is one of the greatest power there is, but at this point Sora needs to realize his own strength and the story doesn't allow that.
And I know you can dismiss all of it saying it's Disney, but remember when Nomura defended his plot choices (like not making Sora the Keyblade Master) by saying Sora needs to be relatable to the player? If they care about relatability then exploring self-doubt and low self-esteem in the main character is one of the best things they can do. Not only the majority of the players can relate to that, it develops the character and gives him something personal to overcome.
So, do I think there are ways to properly deal with that? Yeah, a lot of amazing writers touched on this subject and made Sora scream about his feelings (the most recent one I read was The Darkness Hidden Within by Cait_Sidhe, I love the way they write Sora and Riku. Also Can't Take It Anymore by Simplistic_Fish is an on-going gem). However taking into account Disney and Nomura I'll put my bar really low for a sec and say what could have been done in my opinion to make Sora's emotional arc feel like an arc:
Remove Riku's disastrous "Sora, you don't believe that" line. Make him say something like "You're giving me strength everyday too" or "You're the strongest person I know", anything to actually reassure him a little bit.
Focus on Sora's distress when Riku and Mickey get taken away during fight with Ansem, Xemnas and Young Xehanort, but show him determined to take them on by himself and maybe keep Riku and Mickey off the battle for longer.
I don't give a duck about Yen Sid - make Eraqus, Xehanort or both declare Sora the Master before they go (I know, I know, it's not really necessary, we kind of got the inheritance ceremony, but let me have this).
At the end while everyone is standing at the Keyblade Graveyard make them simply praise, no, acknowledge Sora. "You did it, Sora", "Good job", "SASUGA SORA" just show SOME appreciation of his actions straight to his face. He deserves it.
Anyway this casual disregard of Sora's feelings in canon is driving me crazy. And that's why I'd love an Encanto world in KH4 (or in KH3 timeline as AU) for Sora to visit. No drama, just chilling and healing.
Also that's completely off topic, but when I rewatched the meeting with Young Xehanort I noticed the ad "Corona Development - to illuminate the future", I love it.

Slightly more cohesive thoughts on the update!
- First off, no I’m not ok.
-Second off, the animation was gorgeous?! Can we just appreciate all the little details. The spinning stained glass with the foretellers jumps to mind, but also the details in all the backgrounds, the way Ephemer’s tear quivers a bit before it falls, this was all done by two people, and it’s amazing.
- The master of masters is terrifying! :)
- Now I’m stuck thinking. What if the reason the keyblades all helped Sora in the keyblade graveyard was because he made friends with the spirits in ddd. He brought them comfort and took care of them for a while and they’re greatful.
- So, if dream eaters are sleeping keykids, then are nightmares the equivalent to darklings? The keykids become spirits, but when a spirit falls to darkness it becomes a nightmare, so, I guess?
- I will never be able to look at dream drop distance the same way again.
- This also puts a new sort of spin on Riku becoming a spirit in dream drop.
- I wasn’t ready for any of the scenes with Skuld and Ephemer but, god I love them so much. Skuld crying about daybreak town broke me a little. Because, I mean they just saw their home destroyed. It’s in absolute ruins. that’s gotta hurt.
- On a lighter note, I smiled so hard when Ephemer just scooped Skuld up and bridal carried her over to the pods. I love them so much.
- I also love the attention to detail with the fact that where Lauriam and Elrena wake up corresponds to their elements. Lauriam wakes up in a flower field, and Elrena wakes up in a thunderstorm.
- So Player is Xehanort huh? This makes a lot of scenes with Xehanort hurt just that much more!
- I want Xehanort to stay dead don’t get me wrong, but I’m also imagining an interaction between Ephemer and Xehanort...
- The fact that Ephemer and Ven were friends, and everything Xehanort did to Ven... I can only imagine Ephemer’s reaction being abject horror.
- I’m so sad about so many things right now but Ephemer having a statue in Scala, and Brain being so proud, but also so sad because it means he’s long gone... That’s definitely high on my list of things I’m sad about.
- Khux sure is a game isn’t it... It’s got it’s issues, and weird plotholes, and I mean it’s literally a mobile game with a cute chibi art style that’s all about war and murder... But it’s my mobile game with a chibi art style about war and murder. I love it so much, and I’m both happy that the story’s reached it’s conclusion, and so sad to see it go.

first impression: absolute confusion. i started playing the series w kh3 bc i thought it was the first game remastered and i wanted to know why she was in a forest with a concerningly tall man
impression now: OUGHSJFDSHF *sounds of screaming and crying as i rant endlessly* but i should say most of my loving rants are about manga kairi where most of my frustrated (at the writing) rantings are about game kairi so most of the stuff here will be manga kairi. i will say this is my longest lasting obsession with a kh character, even roxas didnt go as long or at least my feelings weren’t as strong as it went on
fav moment: “sora im still waiting for your reply. still waiting…”, “maybe waiting isn’t good enough”, when she drags sora to riku-that-looks-like-ansem, “no, not this time! i promise i wont get in the way! i’m through waiting!”, when kairi threw her key blade like a boomerang in the manga and she got really happy when it came back, when she defended axel and demyx to riku because he didnt think nobodies had feelings and she said that they were good to her, when she gets pissed that sora told her not to use the keyblade and tells him to “not let the organization abuse him and hes like O.O okay!!!, when she bites axel and scolds him for kidnapping people to ask for help, when she wiggles to convince the nobodies to let her out, when she decks demyx and he starts crying and begging her to let him kidnap her and she has literally the best facials omg it gets me every time, “im tired of waiting so don’t tell me to stay behind! wherever one of us goes the other follows got it?”, and various other moments where she has agency and it results in either a good laugh or me violently screaming and crying
a story: OH TO SEE HER TRAIN.. this was done really well in this comic but id like to see kairi train with aqua and see her break down out of frustration of being alone again/not having a choice in the situation/not feeling good enough or valued n then aqua comforting her and aqua remembering how lost and alone she felt in the realm of darkness and doing whatever she can to make sure kairi doesn’t ever feel the same
unpopular opinion: i dont think there's many popular opinions so i dont think this counts as one but her kh2 outfit kinda ugly ngl.. like girlie what are those SHOES and why do they have less of a red hue than ur dress? ik u havent seen ur two best friends in a year but GET IT TOGETHER !!!!!!
favorite relationship: HER AND AXEL HANDS DOWN i wish i got to see them actually train together rather than just them talking ab training. they ARE siblings it doesn’t matter if its true or not and axel is like a more grown up and mature roderick from diary of a wimpy kid. once again the bite scene is so funny but i rly like how afterwards kairi is still bothered by being kidnaped and scolds him then realizes that they’re both against the organization after empathizing w him missing roxas.
personal headcanon: oooohhh kairi plays an electric black heart shaped guitar covered in stickers. she writes songs in the style of candy pop, frequently covers beach bunny and songs from paramore’s self-titled album, and she likes to sew her own outfits as well as embroider little things on her clothes.

Writing fic is awesome. There can be moments of feeling stuck, and trying to figure out how this scene should go or how that part should be worded, but being able to write out my ideas for characters I love and then being able to read them later is so comforting!

DR pt2 reactions (spoilers)
Episode 11
Opening scene hypeeeeeee!!!!! Love seeing them all work together, there’s definitely been a soft timeskip with Arin and Sora’s costume upgrades and how well they fit together
Lloyd’s handling Wyldfyre pretty well, respecting her boundaries while making sure she feels welcome anytime
Ray and Maya!!! Are they alive lol? Will we ever find out??

Sora and Harper's Bazaar Magazine Korea!
During DIVINE's down time, Sora was featured in a small spread in Harper's Bazaar magazine Korea! It is her first solo photo shoot. During a brief interview in the behind the scenes VLOG of the shoot, Sora announced that the group have recorded multiple songs for the soundtrack of an animated fantasy short-film that is set to release in early-mid December.
"I am thrilled that we are being featured in this film! We got a sneak peak at it and we were completely entranced by the visuals and storyline!" She comments, a bright smile on her face as she claps excitedly. "I think our fans will really enjoy the songs as well! It is magical and light while also hypnotizing to the listener. I really enjoyed filming for the music video." she adds afterwards before being whisked away by a stylist and assistant."

You Won - Sora x Reader
HI! First off, thank you so much for this request. I needed some more fluff in my life. Second, of course I had to pick Sora, Sora said the line! Okay, I didn’t have to but it felt so right! Third, I hope this lives up to your expectations. I had to mull it over for a while, but once I got it going it was fun. Please enjoy.

“Okay, you can let go now. But don’t look yet.”
Against instructions, I tighten my grip, pressing my face harder against the young man’s back.
“Ugh! Sora!”
“You’re gonna be okay. I promise.” A hand taps at my fists. “But please let go; you’re gonna squeeze my guts out.”
I release him to slide my hands over my eyes. I feel him get off the massive, bike-like machine he calls a keyblade glider.
“You’re not gonna leave me here, are you?”
“No. I just need a minute.”
“You know, when you go on blind dates, you still get to see the guy you’re going out with,” I say sarcastically.
“What’s a blind date?”
“Not this.”
Sora laughs. “Just relax. I’ll be done soon.”
Grumbling, I set in to wait.
When I woke up this morning, I knew that my boyfriend had plans for us today; what I didn’t expect was for him to take me to an entirely different world.
Once we got into a serious relationship, Sora kind of spilled the beans on his magical powers—meaning he started talking about wild adventures like a crazy person until Riku slapped him. I might’ve just let it slip and excused it as Sora’s wild imagination had Riku not overreacted. Once I picked the brunette out of the sand, I had to pry the story out of them. All of it was nonsense to me—a fairy tale they had made up or something—but Sora proved me wrong with the keyblade. In a matter of minutes, he got me believing in magic and that, maybe, other worlds really did exist. Well today he proved they did by taking me to one.
“You’re not peeking, are you?” Sora calls, breaking into my musings.
“No,” I groan.
“Are you sure?” I can hear the smile in his accusation.
“Yes, Sora, I’m sure.”
“Good. I’m gonna pick you up.”
“WhaaaAAAAAAA!” My arms immediately circle his neck when I’m lifted from my seat.
His hold tightens. “Don’t worry. I got you.”
Trusting Sora is as easy as breathing; so while I’m nervous and mildly uncomfortable, I keep my eyes closed and rest my face against his shoulder. A warm breeze washes across my skin. I can hear the dancing of leaves high above us and the song of a bird or two. I could probably fall asleep in the comfort of the moment if not for the fact there’s a surprise waiting for me.
Sora’s arms shift, lowering my feet. I keep a tight fist of his shirt for a sense of stability.
“Can I look now?”
“Ye-No! Wait!” He takes my hand off his shirt before leaving me stranded.
“Sora!”
“Hold on!”
I growl but let him run around a bit more while I’ve got my eyes closed. I can hear him fighting with something, frustrated growl and all.
“Okay! Okay,” he says.
“Can I look now?” It’s endearing that he’s trying to make it all perfect, but he got my hopes up that this blind thing was over, so I’m getting antsy.
“Uh…Yeah! Now you can look.”
The light is blinding yet only a few blinks fend off the brightness. Met with a beautiful scene, I awe. Trees tower high above, spreading their leaves to dapple shade on the ground. Green grass flourishes with patches of colorful flowers spread about. The weather is perfect and serene. This is a place I’d only seen in fairy tales.
I’m definitely not on Destiny Islands anymore.
Sitting in a shady spot of grass is a blanket with a basket, food containers, and even a little round vase with some of the wild flowers in it. Eyes roll because I should’ve known this would be a picnic. Beside the spread stands my boyfriend with the most excited, hopeful grin I think I’ve ever seen him wear.
It takes two strides to wrap him up in an embrace. Excitedly, I ask, “When did you plan all this?”
“Like two weeks ago.”
“Two weeks?” Sifting through memories, I remember. Folding my arms, I say, “You mean when you told me Riku needed your help training?”
“Yeah.”
“Uh huh. You realize when you plan a surprise, you should probably tell the guy who’s supposed to be your alibi?”
His smile disappears. “What do you mean?”
“I mean that I found Riku in town and grilled him about what you were up to.” Sora’s eyes widen in horror. “That guy better be your best friend. I knew he was lying his little heart out but he made up some excuse on the spot and stuck to it.’
Shoulders slump. “Aww, you knew?”
I reply, “I knew something was up, but I didn’t know what…And then I kinda forgot about it.”
“Pfft. You forgot?”
I grin. “Yeah. So it’s still a good surprise.”
Sora nuzzles his nose against mine. “Thank goodness.”
Hands against my back pull me flush against him. Soft lips press into my cheek and proceed to drop little pecks as they trail to my neck. A giggle comes from the tickling sensation. Reactively, I lift my shoulder to push him away and he places one more on my nose.
“I love you,” he says softly.
“I love you too.” I return the cheek kiss. “So what’s for lunch today, lover boy?”
“Oh! This place has great soup and amazing bread!”
“Perfect. I’m starving.”
As we eat, just enough sunlight sprinkles through the leaves to keep warm even in the shade. By the time the food is all gone, I can already see where this is going. Sora flops onto his side, resting his head in my lap. It takes minutes for his eyelids to start drooping. A tuneless hum floats through the air as I run my fingers through his hair. He drifts off in peace soon after.
I can’t help glancing around at the sight I would never see on our home world, still enamored by the foreign beauty. And then I look back at Sora. For a guy from such a small world, he’s seen so much. I’m sure there are plenty of other beautiful sights than just this. I thought I was happy and content on Destiny Islands in its familiarity and security, but in this moment, I’m tempted to make Sora take me to another wonderous site. So I would have completely understood if he never returned to Destin Islands ever again.
But Sora came home. Despite being able to run off on adventures that could last a life time, he went back to Destiny Islands, and I don’t understand why.
“What’s wrong?”
My eyes shoot down to the boy in my lap. Sleepy eyes blink his nap away.
“Nothing. Why?”
“You got a crease between your eyebrows.”
I realize I’m frowning and relax. “I was just thinking.”
“’Bout what?” he yawns.
There’s nothing to be gained from asking my question—it’s in the past so it’s not like anything will change. Still, I want to understand the choice that changed my life.
“Why did you go back to Destiny Islands?”
“Huh?”
“C’mon, Destiny Islands is pretty, but it’s just one sight out of probably millions out there. There’s so much out there to see, so why did you go back?”
His blue eyes shift to the sky. “Well, like you said, there’s so much out there—more than I’ll ever be able to see in my whole life. It’s nice to go out and explore those new things, but sometimes, you just miss home. Besides, ever since I first saw you, I could always feel something pulling me back.”
“I’m sorry what?” He gives me a toothy grin. “No, don’t grin at me. What are you talking about? Were you stalking me?!”
“No! I just-…I mean-…”
Tugging at his cheeks, I say, “Mean what? Spit it out!”
He pushes my hands off, a blush dusting his face. “Uh, well, me, Riku, and Kairi wanted to get off the islands so bad, we started building a raft. They told me to find supplies and, while I was doing that, I saw you for the first time. You were sitting by the paopu tree and…I remember thinking you were the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen.” Blood rushes into my ears. “I was gonna ask you to come with us…but I chickened out. Then stuff happened and I went to other worlds. But no matter what amazing things I saw, I couldn’t help comparing them to you—and you won every time.”
My heart is fluttering in my chest at his confession. But Sora’s not done. He looks me in the eyes and, with complete seriousness, says, “I told myself if I ever made it back, I was gonna ask you out on a date.”
A hand clams over my mouth while my dumbfounded brain scrambles for a response.
Sora sits up, looking at me in concern. “You okay?”
What comes from my stupid mouth is sarcasm. “You’re such a dork.”
He protests, “Oh come on! Don’t you believe in love at first sight?”
“No!”
Sora scowls. As I’m coming down from the fluster, I can’t help smiling as I rest my palm against his cheek.
“But I do believe in you. And your heart has never let you down before, has it?”
The frown shifts to surprise and then cheeky glee. “No, it hasn’t.”
“That’s all I need to hear.”
Our lips meet in a tender kiss, rallying butterflies in my chest. He’s goofy and ridiculous and not always the smartest person, but Sora is the brightest person I’ve ever met. He’s my sunshine and I’ve never been happier. Knowing that he paused his adventures for me, I can’t even begin to explain how ecstatic—and bashful—that makes me. That emotion reaches my lips through a smile.
Sora breaks away, mirroring the expression. “What?”
“You’re amazing, Sora.”
“Not as amazing as you.” I attempt to hide my face but he’s already caught on. “Aw, you’re blushing. What’s wrong, buttercup?”
“Sora, stop,” I complain, not great with compliments. Blood is pooling in my cheeks; I can feel it.
He’s laughing at me. “But you’re so cute.”
“Sora!”
Sora pulls my hands from my face, capturing me with those gleaming ocean eyes. “I love you.”
I huff with a glance away. “I love you too.”
A firm tug pulls me against his chest. “Good.”

4. Favourite thing about roleplaying?
Exploration is the simplest way I can put it. For RP, even back in the early high school days, the biggest question I felt excited to answer was ‘What/How can this character do in this xyz scenario?’ It branched from renewed situations in their same series, to even how crossovers can come to work depending on the characters in question. It just feels so magical to me and really inspired me back then to sharpen up my skills, if only to just make an enjoyable experience myself and my own party.
That’s the biggest baseline. Becoming more sociable to people online was just a benefit of such a deal. After seeing people become down for the similar vein in my hobbie, seeing perspectives so new and bits I never considered, it just really made me happy to have RP as a hobby in general. It feels like to me that’s the biggest brand of satisfaction I can get from it.
I wanna push the series I love to new limits, while still feeling like I’m doing the characters I play respective justice. Hell. Compliments such as ‘Wow! It feels like I’m really hanging with the character from xyz series’ always wound up making me hold a sense of pride. It reflects to me that I can provide enjoyable experiences and not leave things too stale. On top of that, I’m also getting to still answer that old question that always rest in me since the early days of Toonami. It was all birthed from wondering bits like what if YYH hung out with the DBZ or Sailor moon crews. They were out here doing such things, it felt like it shouldn’t be impossible they’d bump into each other at some point.
16. Favourite trope.
For meeeeeeee.. That would be characters finding their particular flow in working together. How they don’t even need to say anything to each other, they’re just in such a comfortable boundary with each other that it makes their teamwork look more akin to a dance from the more high tension to naturally lax scenarios. I love just seeing a relationship that enjoys playing off of each other for any parties involved, romantic or platonic.
Alongside of that in a much smaller scale.
- Characters finding their revelations about themselves, involving soul-seeking.
- Characters that have good emotional/personal investment when it comes to breaking their limits. Much as I love a good ‘power up’ so to speak, I love when it reflects on how their experiences shape who they are.
- Those little instances where the world helps people who are into each other. Ex: That lady and the tramp scene with the spaghetti noodle. It always just hits that fluff soft spot in me.
- The deal where characters hold that smidgen of realism in their thoughts despite all the magical happenings that come to happen around them. Y’know, for instance looking at someone undergo a transformation after personally taking you on and going ‘Man what kind of bullshit is this--’
- Those showdowns that branch between high action but also deep conversations against a positioned protagonist and their respective big bad. (KH3 really had me good with how Sora and old Xehanort interacted. I wanted more of that.)
