Pirate AU
I am super unmotivated right now, so I am sorry for not writing anything, but I have a little brain worm thingy that I want to get out so I don't forget, and maybe when I am more motivated I can write it, if anyone is interested anyways
So, pirate au?
Price is the captain, and his crew is mostly gone after he lost a spat with the British Navy. Not only did he lose valuable members of his familycrew but he also lost the fastest ship he owned :(
Gaz and Ghost are the only remaining members.
Ghost lived his life on ships. He ran away at the age of 16 and was caught as stowaway and sold to a ship co. that delivered goods around the world. He worked his way up and was offered his own ship, but declined and went home to see if his family was any better. They were not. In fact, they were all dead. Price ran into him at a bar, and offered him a position with his crew once he watched Ghost come out on top in a 4v1 brawl. He is the quartermaster of Price's crew.
Gaz isn't entirely sure how he ended up in Prices crew. One day he was a normal citizen and the next moment he was a pirate ship. Okay, so maybe he was a sad, homeless orphan, and maybe he climbed aboard the ship to get to another island, and maybe Price charmed him with the promises of food and a bed, but that's not the point. And besides, t's not like he'll ever tell. Before joining the pirate crew, Gaz had gone to school, and excelled in maths, so Price made him his sailing master.
Soap was a member of the royal navy. He deserted after realizing that the whole power structure is corrupt, and that they were no better, worse even, then those they were hunting down. He turned tail during the fight with with Price's fleet, broke Gaz out of the brig they were holding him in, and joined the other side. Price hesitantly put him on as a deckhand, but quickly promoted him to gunner after seeing Soap shoot. After proving his loyalty to the cause, he was promoted to Master Gunner.
Roach was a street kid. He grew up fighting to survive, learning how to swindle and steal with the best of them. He joined a gang, starting out as a little pickpocket but quickly rose through the ranks, becoming of his boss's best thief's. He was stealing from Ghost but got caught. Ghost dragged(threw him over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes) him back to the ship and handed him over to Price. Price liked Roaches moxy and took him on, first as a deckhand, and, once his affinity for high places was discovered, a navigator.
Laswell and her wife rule from pirate island as the Pirate Queens(POTC reference anyone?)
Anyways I'll probably write something once I stop being so depressed, this idea is open for anyone else to write/draw as well, as long as you give me credit :)

NaNoWriMo Day #27
[masterlist]
Prompt found here
Thanks @stealingyourbones and @newdog14 for the prompt!
=============‹«⟨∆⟩»›=============
"—the door will remain locked and sealed, with a small amount of anesthetic gasses pumped into the room at ten minute intervals, until either you're rescued or one of you answers my riddle! What... Does the sign at the cemetery say?" The Riddler asked through the speaker above the door.
"Do not pass."
The answer was out of his mouth barely a second after the riddle was said; though, to be fair, it was less of a riddle and more of a pun—a death pun at that, which he'd spent the majority of his teens researching and creating more of. Jazz had said it was his way of coping with his accident, and, well, she wasn't exactly wrong, okay?
Danny's stomach dropped to his knees in realization. Three simple words, spoken reflexively and without intent, had just destroyed everything. He was supposed to be keeping his head down, not drawing attention to himself, and here he was, throwing three years worth of hard work down the drain. He was screwed. Jazz was going to be so disappointed in him, he knew it.
He was starting to worry he'd been wrong, and his fellow hostages were about to see him get shot or something equally traumatizing, when the light on the lock turned green. He breathed a sigh of relief and cautiously opened the door. Riddler could usually be trusted to keep his word, but Danny wanted to be safe. He didn't want to put his faith in the man relying on a single riddle—a pun at that—for his entire plan. The universe just wasn't that kind to him. But no, there really had only been the one pun locked door between unconsciousness and freedom. Danny sighed. This just wasn't his night.
=============‹«⟨∆⟩»›=============
When Danny had finished with his report, he wasn't surprised in the least to get called to Gordon's office. He hadn't been there since he'd been offered his promotion, which he was coming to regret accepting in spite of the serious boost to his paycheck. Ever since he'd been promoted to Major Crime, he'd been having more and more run-ins with Gotham's rogues, both on and off the clock. He'd known it was only a matter of time before he caught the wrong kind of attention, the kind of attention he'd been hoping to avoid for as long as possible. He could handle rogues, he could handle some extra scrutiny from his co-workers for how often he got away from said rogues unscathed, but the Bat? He had wanted to avoid him for as long as humanly—and inhumanly—possible, but after tonight's events... Let's just say he hoped he'd be able to transfer to another city's police force once Batman was done with him.
"Nightingale, you up for some old fashioned stair climbing tonight?" Gordon may have phrased it like a question, but Danny knew it wasn't.
"Yes, sir," he replied with a sigh. Oh well, might as well get this over with. And besides, he kinda wanted to see the bat signal up close and personal before he was outed as not human.
=============‹«⟨∆⟩»›=============
On the roof of the police department, Danny glanced at Gordon before he walked over to the giant spotlight that had become so iconic. The bat symbol in the center of the unlit light provoked such a sense of relief and respect in the normal Gotham citizen when it was seen, but Danny could only see his visions for the future go up in smoke.
"I'm assuming I'm up here to meet the big guy?" Danny asked without looking back at his boss.
"He said he had some questions for you. Hope you don't mind."
He sighed but shook his head. "Not really, I actually was kind of expecting it at some point, considering my track record so far." Danny heard the soft sound of someone carefully landing on an asphalt roof and took a bracing breath.
"Daniel J Nightingale, twenty-four, from a small town in Illinois, one sister, one cousin, no parents on record. Your records are good, they nearly had us fooled, but Oracle found something you missed when falsifying them."
Danny turned to face the dark knight. He leveled the man a challenging look. "What are you going to do about it?"
The man slowly stalked toward Danny until he was within arms reach. "I'm going to do what I should have done a long time ago," he said. Danny blinked and suddenly, Batman's arms were around Danny's shoulders and he was being drawn into a hug. "I'm sorry I never knew about you. I'm sorry I never looked." After a moment to process what was happening, Danny melted into the hug and returned it.
"It's okay. You couldn't have known. I forgive you, dad," he whispered through his tears. Well, that wasn't as bad as he'd feared it would be.
=============‹«⟨∆⟩»›=============
Sorry for not posting anything at all yesterday, as you may know, it was my birthday yesterday, and life got a bit hectic (´-﹏-`;) and not in a fun way. We had some bad news come in from a family member out west, and it threw all our plans into chaos and disarray. Today was better, no bad news bombs got dropped on me today, though it was very exhausting, so I'm not sure how well this ficlet turned out, sorry (^~^;)ゞ
I'm probably going to play a bit fast and loose with my personal NaNoWriMo rules for the rest of this week, cuz I've been struggling to find prompts I'm actually interested in writing (;^ω^)hopefully I can get a few sequels or third parts out before the end of the month!
Have a good morning/day/night!

transitioning wouldn't have saved L if it'd been done pre-Kira case, because while Light is a raging misogynist who doesn't take women seriously, he would probably go genuinely insane if he was humiliated by a woman on live TV. because how dare she?? there is, of course, an alternate version of this story in which he decidedly Does Not see her as a threat, and therefore does not pursue her as hard as he does in canon, because. well. what could this girl really do to stop him?? She's A Woman, After All. on the other hand, L transitioning During the Kira case, with their weird little relationship already fully established, would probably Guarantee her death, but I do think that it'd have bought her a little bit more time than what she was allowed in canon. because despite what Light thinks, it's actually incredibly easy to make him spiral into frenzied panic, and nothing would accomplish that faster than his rival forcibly ripping that homoerotic lifeline out of his hands. also I do think that he'd be increeeeedibly offended. you're telling him that he's been locked in this life altering battle of wits with a WOMAN for all these months?? maybe he'd have killed her with his bare hands at that point, actually. or maybe he'd have had his, "I AM KIRA; GOD OF THE NEW WORLD!!" breakdown in front of the Task Force much, muuuuch sooner. maybe a good old fashioned transition would have been all it took to crack Light's creepy Barbie doll exterior. "ask not what you can do for misogyny, but what misogyny can do for You." <<< things that L Lawliet says, post transition.

i think the main reason I've consistently ranked Happy Sugar Life in such a high tier has to do with the fact that I'm actually NOT a fan of the traditional one-sided yandere trope (as in where only one of them is a crazy yandere rather than both of them being mutually crazy, like Noir) and don't care for how it's normally used as a way to write women as being obsessed with a man etc. etc. so the way HSL critiqued the concept really worked for me. The idea of taking the concept to the logical extreme of "y'know, someone being like that irl would actually be pretty fucked up" by having the guts to connect it to concepts as disturbing as child abduction, grooming, and pedophilia without being edgy for edgy's sake was an inspired choice imo. It uses the trope to tell a somber story about generational trauma and the cycle of abuse and how without support from people who care about them it's tragically common for those who are abused and isolated to end up continuing that cycle because that's all they were taught. As someone who suffered as the subject of abuse from a generational pattern and who has worked hard to break that cycle, Satou's story and ultimate participation in the cycle is DEVASTATING. I don't like to use the word "deconstruction" because it gets thrown around so casually but I love HSl for being an EXAMINATION of the trope and its impact. Idk it's just really good I think

Sam Manson's Jewish and that's so cool
I love that sam's Jewish. I love that it's explicitly stated and shown in the show. It gets it's major focus on the Christmas episode, because of course or does (nickelodeon doing any more than the most basic top lair knowledge of Judaism for Sam & her family? Unlikely.) But I wanted to add that it was hinted at since nearly the very beginning, in a rather small way.
Grandma Ida refers to herself as "Bubbe" in "Attack of the Killer Garage Sale" S1E4, when she's in a small shot as Sam shows off her basement bowling alley (to Tucker), which Ida is playing with. "Bubbe" is a Yiddish word for Grandma :)
So that is to say, before I realized she did when I was rewatching, I had thought they only splashed the Judaism in only for the Christmas episode, for that 90s-influenced/early-00s inclusivity that had gone around as a concept in very cool shows around that time. (equality among races and religions in the U.S. and the like) But no! Given that one seemingly random little line, Sam's family was always meant to be Jewish.
Now I'm not Jewish myself, but the decent representations of Jewish people in media is very important to me. And! The fact that, even with the shows spotty writing at times, the creating crew had seemingly, always intended her as such at the time the show was being created; it makes me happy to think about :)

I’m looking at the off-broadway lyrics of Hadestown’s “Come home with me” and now I’m crying
[EURYDICE, spoken] (laughs) Are you always this confident?
[ORPHEUS, spoken] When I look at you I am. [EURYDICE, spoken] When you look at me, what do you see? [ORPHEUS, spoken] Someone stronger than me, somebody who survives.
[EURYDICE, spoken] So why should I become your wife? [ORPHEUS, spoken] Because I make you feel alive.
This is it. This is why he turns around. Because when he leaves Hadestown, he isn’t confident, because he can’t look at her. He turns around to become confident. He turns around because he needs to see somebody who survives.
It’s so cruel that the thing that would give him the confidence to succeed is the very thing dooming them. But here’s the thing. She might not be the one who survives. He might not have the confidence to save her. But just for a moment, he makes her feel alive. Because he gave her hope. He changed the world for her, even if she’s not alive to see. Because she lost her memories of who she is and he made her remember. It’s not about her following him back to the land of the living. It’s about him following her to the land of the dead. It’s about her learning that she is loved. It’s about her learning what it’s like to feel alive

Malleus only had Lilia, his grandmother and servants as people he could interact with. However, the servants don't speak to him unless they have to and keep their gaze away from him or never come face to face with him. His grandmother is a person who's teaching him to be a good king and not giving the love a grandmother should give to her grandson. Lilia is a father figure, a knight and teacher.
Silver and Sebek are like little brothers, but they're his knights, not people he can joke around with often. Lilia, Silver and Sebek look at him as their future king and not fully a friend.
He wasn't allowed to leave the castle until he went to Night Raven College and there he met people who were scared of him and would never dare to approach him. Those who do approach him did it for a challenge online.
He grew up alone in a dark castle, the only people he could speak to were a mentor and knights, not a family member or completely friends. Outside he was greeted with fearful eyes from a simple glance of him.
He didn't experience true friendship (or romance), never dealing with the fear of losing someone and the grief that comes with it. He's an adult that never went through strong emotions and when he did, he was lost on how to deal with them.
Yuu, a human who didn't know of how powerful he is and greeted him without fear. Even when they were told who he was, they still stayed by his side and continued to see him as a friend.
Malleus was intrigued by the human who didn't know who he was. He was surprised because everyone knows him, so it felt different to be a stranger to someone instead of being a person you already know beforehand.
His thoughts on them was of curiosity and approached them again during Halloween. He asked for a dance during the party in the world of ghosts because he saw the chance to share a simple dance without formality or uncomfortable expression staring up at him.
Greeting him again with a smile or inviting him to something and be happy to see him there.
It felt new to him, finally feeling like a person and not someone who's always praised or seen as a monster.
But Yuu is a human and not from his world, they will leave him. He finally feels accepted and seen as not something bad. They will leave him and he will go back to being all alone and he can't stop this from happening.
Right?

Bro, I am ready to defend these men to my grave. I swear! So my friend didn't know who Sebastian Stan was [ we won't even talk about my shock from that in itself] so I sent her some pictures.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She then said he scared her and that he wasn't attractive.
When I tell you I was pissed! 😂 I was about to go off but I was like "he's harmless, like a teddy bear. he's got two sides sweet and intimidating"
But she repeated what she said before and so I took a deep breath, smiled and said:
"you know you and I are opposite besties. we like some of the same things and other things we don't"
But I was about to blow a fuse to argue that he was not scary and is in fact attractive.
LIKE HOW CAN YOU SAY SEBASTIAN STAN IS NOT ATTRACTIVE LET ALONE SCARY!! 😤

And now to some headcanons and stuff from here about Jason inhaling the fossilized vampire and worried Salim. Nothing super-original, just some things I would love to share. Enjoy 😁
/warning: it gets kinda angsty/
***
As soon as Jason realizes that he might be infected, he makes Salim promise to kill him the moment they see that Jason really is turning into something.
“Even if the others are still alive, not one of them has the balls to end this,” he says. “You’re the only one who can do it. You have to do it.”
He can't help but think about Clarice and Joey. He saw what happened to Joey, he saw the thing moving under the skin of Clarice's throat. He's fucking terrified.
"I don't wanna die, but even less I wanna turn into a fucking vampire," he says. "The last thing I wanna do is rip your head off. Your son is waiting for you."
Salim does try to argue. "They did not bite you," he says, "it might be something else. We will get out, you will get some fresh air, you will feel better."
They both know that's not true.
"Just… promise me, Salim," Jason says. It takes some effort to add: "Please."
Reluctantly, Salim does make that promise.
***
Every time Jason starts coughing, Salim looks at him, worried. At some point, Jason snaps at him, really pissed off, because he is so sure that Salim is worried about the coughing being too loud so the creatures can hear it.
“I can’t fucking keep it down,” he says, “stop looking at me like that! You’re waiting for me to start turning or what?”
Salim looks at him, confused because of his anger. “I’m worried about you,” he says. “That does not sound good.”
Jason stares at him, puzzled. He was almost ready to say something like “fuck off and go in there alone, if I’m dying too fucking loudly for you"; now he feels a bit awkward. He has no idea how to respond to that.
“Oh,” he says and just keeps walking.
***
When Nick joins them like a fucking knight in shining armor, Jason is… not as happy as he thought he would be. Don't get him wrong, he is glad and relieved to see Nicky alive, but… Nick is mentally fucked up already, and some shit has happened today, and Nick has a tendency to overthink stuff. Jason just can't be vulnerable and scared around him; Jason has to be that badass marine, has to be the strong one — confident enough to make Nicky keep it together.
Jason is scared, probably dying and so fucking tired. It was so much easier with Salim alone, when there was no need to pretend he's okay.
All Jason wants is to get Nicky and Salim both to safety. Is that too much to ask?
***
When Salim asks him to tell Zain his last words, Jason almost laughs out loud. That requires some really fucking impressive level of optimism to think that Jason can last long enough to be able to go to Salim’s house after all what happened.
He is absolutely sure he's gonna die. He knows that even if he makes it out of here, no one up there is gonna give a fuck about finding a cure for him. He’s probably going to end up in some laboratories or something and die during some fucked-up experiments.
It doesn't really matter if he dies now or later. He just wants his death to not be in vain.
To go out with a bang, fighting vampires for a vague chance to save Salim — that's not the worst option. He’s okay with that as long as Salim survives.
They both make it to the lift, and that’s a fucking miracle.
***
Jason gets hurt during the fight in the shepherd's hut. He could anticipate that from the beginning: the cough made him throw away his shot, the creature attacked, and he wasn't able to dodge that or to protect himself.
Salim saves him. Of course it's Salim who saves him. Jason has almost got used to seeing this fucking metal stake right in front of his eyes.
Nicky is not that lucky. Nicky is dead, lying on the floor with his eyes gouged out, and there's some sick fucked-up irony in this. Jason gets to survive the fight only to be dead in a couple of days at best, coughing his lungs out, and Nicky is dead.
That's so fucked.
Jason isn't really paying attention to what's going on around him. Salim asks if he can dress Jason's wound, and Jason just nods, not moving away from Nick's body. Salim takes off his backpack and vest, cuts up the sleeve of the T-shirt to get to the wound on his shoulder.
A touch on his skin makes Jason flinch — or rather the sudden realization: he’s vulnerable, he can’t fight, and someone got close to him while he wasn’t paying attention. Salim says sorry, moving a bit away.
Jason is too tired to really care about it — or explain it to Salim, for that matter. He just lets Salim finish patching up his wound.
That doesn’t feel that wrong and uncomfortable, to be honest.
***
Jason doesn’t really think about Salim being an Iraqi soldier of the fucking Republican Guard — until he does. It didn’t really matter down in the temple. Here, on the surface — that's where it becomes a problem.
“You have to go,” he says.
He doesn’t even hesitate. He probably should’ve. That's probably treason.
Jason doesn't give a fuck about treason right now.
“I can’t leave you like that,” Salim says almost angrily, as if Jason insulted him. “You’re hurt. The shepherds may come back. What was that thing you kept saying? Semper Fi?”
“For fuck’s sake, Salim.”
Jason knows he has to make Salim go away. Jason would physically push him out of the hut if not for the wound and blood loss; Jason is too weak and tired to even argue.
Jason wouldn’t go away. How can he expect Salim to do that?
“Just… take my watch,” he says, holding out his hand. “Don’t fuck around for too long and get the fuck outta here before the cavalry arrives. Even if I…”
He doesn’t finish the sentence, coughing.
***
Jason does his best to stay awake, he really does, but the infection and the wound take their toll. His eyes are closing; he struggles to keep them open.
“Stay here,” Salim says.
“Ain’t going nowhere,” Jason mumbles.
He feels like he has to say something. He knows damn well he’ll never see Salim again; even if he will survive somehow, there’s no chance they’ll ever meet.
He’s never been any good at heart-to-heart chit-chats.
“I’m… glad I didn’t shoot you,” he says, causing Salim to smile.
“Well, I’m glad I didn’t shoot you,” Salim answers, chuckling.
Fair enough. Jason shakes hands with him, trying not to start coughing again, and leans back against the wall, trying not to pass out.
***
Jason loses this battle. He is half-awake, half-aware of his surroundings, leaning on Salim’s shoulder, unable to move or to speak or to open his eyes. At first Salim was trying to talk to him, keep him conscious, wake him up; now Salim is just sitting there, muttering something to himself from time to time. Jason can feel the warmth of his body and his hand that is placed on Jason’s back.
Jason spent hours wearing a vest and a backpack. Now a touch on the back through only a T-shirt feels… weird. Vulnerable.
Comforting.
He manages to cling to reality due to pure stubbornness. Salim is not safe here. Jason has to make sure he gets the fuck out before it’s too late.
There’s nothing he can do about that, really.
It feels like an eternity — definitely not a pleasant one — until something starts to happen around him. Salim gently helps him lie down, head on his backpack; Jason can feel Salim’s hand on his shoulder as Salim says something. Jason doesn’t understand a word of it, but there’s definitely guilt and regret in his voice.
“Just go,” Jason wants to say, but can’t make a sound.
He can hear a quiet “goodbye” and retreating footsteps. Salim’s gone — to his son, to safety. Nothing to worry about anymore; nothing to fight for.
The lights fade.

Genuine question: how long do you think akutagawa will last in the manga???
Mmhhh I hadn't thought about it, but I think he's pretty much the character least likely to die now? Because he already died once, and characters don't die twice on screen (that is, if the one we saw at the end of episode 11 is our Akutagawa, which technically isn't confirmed yet, but I find it higly probable). Worst case scenario I can think of is author implying he'll die / have him die off screen at the very conclusion of the manga due to his illness, but I doubt they'd be that cruel. I'm curious about how they intend to cure his illness though.

There's actually something weirdly comforting about still reading the same book series that I started in Junior High. (Not re-reading it, but like, there are 14 books and they're all huge and I take big breaks between them so I'm just barely starting book 12)
Like. So much has changed. I've moved states, graduated, changed my name and pronouns.
But this whole time there's been one constant: The Wheel of Time
