imagining a competition between Bruce and Clark where they try to see who can play dumb more convincingly and it’s just a masterclass in acting and posture without an obvious winner. one look at them as civilians and most would write them off as idiots. the people who do know them can’t bear to watch their routines in person because they’re too good, in a way that just wrong enough to make your teeth itch.

Thinking about Everlark having an impromptu toasting because of Miss Impulsive Everdeen.
Like Peeta catches Katniss watching him munch on a slice of toast one day and asks if she wants a bite then makes a dump joke like “haha becareful, we might end up married.” 😝 And it just hits her. And Katniss gets all caught up in her feels (and like omg she almost lost him in the war) and is like “why didn’t we?” 🥺 which catches Peeta off guard-
And then they toast not a moment later.

Something to remember is that body language exists and it’s an important factor when it comes to shows/ships. From what we’ve seen of Oliver and Ryan just this season is very palpable. Take that little video we got today as an example. When two people spend a lot of time together, their bodies become very familiar with the others. They become so intricately intertwined that both bodies start mimicking the other subconsciously. For two people to simply sync into step together, lift their hands up and have two of the same fingers bent while they do a wave is so interesting to me. They weren’t even sitting next to each other when they both got off the truck. So imagine how seamlessly and quickly their bodies seek the other that they are able to completely mirror each other without any sort of prior communication. Even the lack of space we’ve seen time and time again highlighted in stills and promotional trailers indicate the close proximity of their body language. That’s natural chemistry. That’s something you expect out of a close confidant, a best friend, a partner of any sort. It would make sense especially if Oliver and Ryan have been spending a lot of time together on set. They’ve always had that but it feels intensified for some reason. Makes me think they won’t be distancing the two on screen but quite the opposite, which makes sense. Since there’s a level of ease and familiarity between the two.

something i wanted addressed— like just one scene— was how ed felt about izzy’s growth in s2. we get a few smiles here and there but that’s sort of it. or even something out of stede. like izzy’s change was so dramatic and i feel like there was subtext in the way gb interacted with him but his shift is never addressed. it’s like stede and ed stopped interacting with any of the crew outside of each other. even at calypso’s party they felt so separated from the crew even before they went off to fuck.
i miss when they actually felt like a part of the crew. i loved ed’s moments with fang in s2, but other than that there was just this sort of detachment. do they not even feel sad about saying goodbye to the revenge?? where did the found family aspect go???
going back to izzy i felt like we got moments of izzy making up for his comments towards ed in s1, but it was always this acknowledgment of the positive ways in which ed had changed. we never got a focused scene of the opposite, of ed fully acknowledging izzy’s new found openness.
i personally was so curious about what ed and stede were thinking when they saw him at calypso’s party. ik izzy’s technically a side character, but they put so much emphasis on his relationship with ed this season. the man literally confessed his love to him twice. can i at least get a scene of ed addressing this even if it’s not to izzy’s face??
not to mention the smiles stede and ed kept throwing him throughout the season. i’m not suggesting that they were canonly romantic but they looked so fond of him. which i love ofc but i felt like it wasn’t earned. as an audience member i felt like i missed something. suddenly izzy is putting his hand on stede’s thigh casually and ed is smiling softly at him and i want to know what clicked.
mostly i think i just wanted there to be a small moment during the party where ed speaks directly to izzy and just implies that he’s happy for him. that would have been closure on their arc for me. but as it stands i feel like they ended on izzy only ever being the one to acknowledge ed’s feelings.
OMG I JUST REMEMBERED TOO BC AFTER THE PARTY WE GET THE “HE’S JUST JEALOUS” LINE GUHHHH EDWARD TEACH WHAT DID U MEAN?!?
like fuck off, izzy keeps telling you how happy he is for you and all you do in return is joke about izzy’s feelings for you after rejecting him and that’s not even mentioning the… everything else he’s done to izzy.
ik it wasn’t their intention at all but the writing makes it feel like ed doesn’t want izzy to let go of him but he also doesn’t want to be there for him in any significant manner. which is very human and selfish and interesting, but also not what i think they were going for… cause it makes ed look bad even after he’s supposedly grown.
if izzy and ed were going to be painted as ex’s i just think it’s unfair that we never get to see how ed explicitly feels about izzy moving on and that izzy was denied proper closure to their “break up.”
and don’t get me started about how even izzy’s death was about ed in the end.

The War of SandWing succession lasted 20 years and it leaves me wondering what the allied queens were like prior to the war. Hanging out with Burn, Blister, or Blaze for 20 years no doubt changed their brain chemistry.
Scarlet was probably pretty similar prior to the war, once a girl boss always a girl boss, but I’m confident that she and Burn made each other worse ❤️
Coral had yet to kill Orca at the start of the war. Maybe she had always been like that but what if she had once been an okay queen?
And I really do wonder about Glacier. In the first arc the DoD basically just assume Glacier is in the war for territory and to use Blaze as a puppet figure head but we can never know for sure (I don’t trust the DoDs assessments). Maybe it started off like that, a young IceWing queen wanting to prove herself, or maybe she thought it was the right thing to do. Or maybe she was just really gay for Blaze idk.

Badboyhalo didn’t make it out of that war.
There’s a reason Cellbit snapped - that it had been ten years since they had seen eachother - that he was ecstatic to see Bad again.
Bad died, then. Demons aren’t born. They’re made. He had been human before. He’d died in that war and taken a deal to work as a Reaper to come back. And he’d lived that way for years, before ever seeing his friend again. All he’d known was that Cell was alive - after all, he’d never had to go retrieve his soul. But Bad hadn’t known how deep down the rabbithole Cellbit had gone.
It’s for the best Cellbit had been in recovery before they met again. Bad may be flippant on the value of life now - but he wouldn’t be all too pleased to bear witness to the path Cellbit had taken so long ago.

nygmobblepot is truly a ship like none other i’ve experienced before like.. up until the “i would do anything for you” scene i was certain it would just be queerbait, but then oswald was canonically in love with ed so i was like okay nice?? so it might actually happen??? but no they throw in a random woman that looks exactly like ed’s ex and he immediately falls in love with her even tho i was like 84% sure ed reciprocated oswald’s feelings but anyway a lot of shit happens and ed is like “i don’t love you” which he contradicts literally the next episode with those fucking hallucinations, so we’re left with oswald who very obviously never stops loving ed, and ed that is just ????? he probably didn’t get the memo that this isn’t supposed to be queerbait but idk. it’s so fucking weird yet i’m obsessed

Switch Chrissy is most definitely a thing! Like being her first gf after Jason who would have treated her like a little innocent lamb and you let her take control and be comfortable in herself
See, you get me!! Chrissy’s only ever been treated like this delicate little thing her entire life, always being told exactly how to behave and being held to such high expectations (sit like this, don’t slouch, be demure, always wear makeup, never leave the house without looking your best, the guy’s pleasure is all that matters, it’s better to be seen not heard yadi yadi yadda). But you flip the script right on its head, letting her be whatever she wants to be and do whatever she wants to do. You let Chrissy take control. You let her prioritize her own pleasure when she needs to. You remind her that it’s okay to feel good/to feel pleasure as a woman, that women’s pleasure is not some sinful thing but is rather beautiful and completely natural. You make Chrissy feel beautiful and sexy and desirable even when she’s in one of her dad’s ratty old t-shirts and a pair of entirely unsexy, old gym shorts, her face completely bare and her hair a complete wreck from how much she moves in her sleep. You make her feel like her pleasure matters, like it’s just as important as your own or anyone else’s (really, you tend to treat her pleasure like it’s the most important, like it’s all that matters… but Chrissy can’t imagine a world where your pleasure isn’t at least as important as hers). You encourage her to take what she needs from you, with no expectation of her returning the favor (even though she almost always does because she wants you to feel good too). You make her feel comfortable, loved, safe, secure, supported, accepted, appreciated, and wanted both in the bedroom and more mundane situations. That, in turn, makes Chrissy feel more comfortable to explore her desires. If you’d asked her before she started dating you, she would’ve reiterated some mindless quote about how women should be only concerned with their partner’s pleasure and not their own, how women are not to be in positions of power, etc. But now Chrissy knows better. She knows that it’s more than okay to take control and even to relinquish it when she wants to, that it’s alright to chase her own pleasure, that openly desiring her partner and being needy for them is not wrong, that it’s okay to be horny, that taking care of her own sexual needs and desires is more than okay, that it’s good to explore herself sexually with her partner. With you, Chrissy is no longer forced to be some meek little lamb. With you, she’s allowed to be a woman; a true woman, one that feels desire, one that gets aroused, one that wants things, one that craves power and control, one that chases her own pleasure, one that desires other women. With you, Chrissy’s allowed to be herself and, most importantly, to explore what it means to be herself (something she’s never had the opportunity to do before). So, yeah, switch!Chrissy is definitely a thing. Personally, I can’t imagine a world in which, after years of being stuck in the stereotypical 80s comphet relationship, Chrissy wouldn’t want to explore her sensuality and her desires once she’s finally in a relationship where she feels not only free to do so, but encouraged to do so.

Random batman question: do you prefer versions of the story where Thomas and Martha's death was part of a larger plot (e.g. mob hit, court of owls, etc) or ones where it really was just a random mugging gone wrong?
Honestly I personally like it better if it was just a random desperate guy trying to get some money who maybe didn't even mean to kill them initially (no one can escape tragedy), but I've seen both be well done
I like both, though I sometimes lean more toward the “random act of violence” option for symmetry.
I think they’re not so entirely dissimilar though. They both involve Gotham reaching past their perceived safety and the privilege of their family’s position and wealth. One version just hastens along that eventuality. One happens randomly, and it’s hard to say why then and not later. Why that alley, and not some other reminder of the violence the city wields.
Was it always inevitable? Were the Waynes blind to the Court’s reach, willingly or unwillingly? Does it make more sense as a quiet, random rebuke of their blindness, or something far more vicious and planned?
I think the city was always going to rebuke them, one way or another. And if not them, then what they stood for.

I was playing Ovenbreak, and we need a sinister/ specifically Cookies of Darkness themed Jelly set
I looked and there is a Crimson Cakes of Chaos set based on Dark Enchantress’s Pet/the Cake Witch, but I’m not satisfied with that, have one more about the rest of the CoD

maybe i’ll get into this more in detail but i think the reason why the fandom is currently so divisive on the topic of characterization is that s2 is fundamentally a different show. pretty much everyone changes and not in a character arc/growth way, i mean the show’s tone changes so dramatically that the character’s are forced to change as well.
my speculation is that the writers had too much access to what fans wanted— plus a lot of factors going on behind the scenes— and what we ended up with were characters that were no longer built for a romantic-comedy. using izzy as an example because he’s the most divisive, but izzy in s1 is meant to act as an antagonist, maybe a character foil for stede, but more than anything (like most characters in comedy) we were meant to laugh at him (the same way we were often meant to laugh at stede).
so when people try to make claims about his nature in s1, about how he was trying to control blackbeard etc, we don’t actually know that. we do know what he says out loud but he really doesn’t get enough focus for us to make those sorts of definitive judgements. blah blah blah unreliable narrator, because it’s stede’s pov. he very well could’ve been trying to control ed because he sucked or it could’ve been about survival. while i have my preference for which i prefer i don’t think there’s enough to evidence to say for sure what his real motives were.
and then s2 blew everything out of the water. we still don’t know exactly what his past with ed is, but he is immediately the victim at the beginning of s2. not only was there the toe incident and the various other abusive things ed did to him, but their relationship is far more intense than it was prior. we even have jim stating canonly “he was your friend.” we see a softer side of him, one that loves and wants to be loved, he calmed down significantly, and he’s effectively become a third main character, with how much screen time he gets. suddenly the reading of him being power hungry doesn’t make sense, but the survival reading does. he moves from being a two dimensional character to a three dimensional character and we’re made to have sympathy for him.
i think for a lot of people this tone shift felt jarring, esp if you really didn’t like him in s1. which btw i don’t think there’s anything wrong with disliking him. he was an antagonist. hell i didn’t really like him. i never hated him but still. he was well written because he elicited negative responses the way he was supposed to. i have no idea if izzy was always supposed to move in this direction or if the writers saw the response from fans and were influenced by it. who’s to say really.
i also want to point out that s1 was pretty much only from stede and the crew’s perspective so naturally izzy is gonna seem like an angry caricature. s2 shifts around more because stede is no longer the only story the narrative is following.
i also see ppl say that con’s interpretation of izzy is fighting the script which i don’t agree with at all. jenkins has always been upfront about how much he likes izzy. although i do think fans shifted con’s perspective of izzy into a more nuanced headspace of the character and that might’ve effected things, but i think the same can be said of the writing.
tldr/ in s1 there was no “right” interpretation of izzy we didn’t have enough info. in s2 everything changed and whether it was because of the fandom or not they leaned into the sympathetic reading.
