this has been said like a hundred times before but the ’plot twist’ that billie is evil now really is in the top 10 stupidest plot choices spn has done. why would you make death evil? death? death cannot be evil nor can it be good. it’s only neutral. it’s inevitable.
i know spn is no stranger to retconning things but even back in s5 when they first introduce death as a character they make sure to establish that he is infact neutral. he’s one of the horsemen but he is bound to do lucifer’s bidding by a spell. it’s not his choice to take sides. the apocalypse is nothing to him. he’s eternal and he’s neutral.
and the whole thing with billie’s character even back when she was a reaper was not that she was evil but that she wanted to restore balance. she didn’t want to kill sam and dean she just wanted to make sure that when they die they remain dead so ’the natural order of things’ isn’t disturbed. she wants the rules to be followed. and it’s the same thing when she becomes death. she’s all about balance and neutrality and the laws of the universe. death cannot take sides.
and her whole reasoning to help defeat god is to ensure that the balance won’t be disturbed. because this time it’s literally god upsetting the cosmic balance. so it makes sense she would want to interfere. it even makes sense that she would like to take control (at least for a bit) after god and amara are gone just to ensure that everything is put in order. she literally just wants things to function in the way they are supposed to.
she’s not power hungry or murderous or after revenge….???? she’s none of that. like how the fuck did they come up with that? where is the basis for that change in her motives? that is literally the opposite of what her character has stood for her entire time on the show. and again as a concept or as a cosmic being death simply cannot be evil. why are they like this.
